My mom worked with richie on the It was his first location for believe it was everything. Yogurt won't think they landed on the staten island mall back. Then you know going back. Three decades plus and watching what you've grown into a several hundred acre amazing campus millions of square feet of hotel hospitality restaurants offices. What has it been like. You know being part of a team. That's grown so exponentially over the last thirty years. Well i've been so blessed to know. People came to work with them in two thousand and eight. And since then i will say that they. They are wonderful business. People there magnanimous people. They're also great teachers. So james one of the things that's been such the the benefit that i can't list in the employee handbook is how much i've learned from them every single day since i started here If i'm being honest and candid nothing in my career or education would have would have said a perfect fit to work in real estate and hospitality. My degrees were in it But what they do is they have such vision. "Could stick a lot of people's noses right and get it done, but if you don't have enough back and helped to analyze all that and get the information back out to the people Then you really didn't accomplish much. The site will be open three days a week through the end of December, and it's free to county residents. The empty A held the first of eight virtual public hearings over its latest proposed fair and toll hikes. Yesterday. The agency is considering several scenarios that include eliminating the seven and 30 Day Unlimited cards. As well as raising fares by 4%. But the issue that raised the most hackles at this first hearing was the possibility of eliminating the residents told discount for Staten Islanders right now, Staten Islanders pay $5.50 to go across the Arizona Bridge and back. It would cost them $19 without the discount or EZ Pass. Staten Island resident at least, Feldman spoke of the hearing. Discount isn't something that's arbitrary. It's a discount so we could function and move off the island to go to work. The empty A will make its final decision on any fair and toll increases early next year. Nurses at Monte Fior hospitals. "This is Monica. Perec's Brad. Our top story it is four days to quote Election Day people have been voting in droves. People have been mailing in election deadlines for mail in ballots have been extended. So as a very nebulous election time and but one thing is clear the pulse or narrowing. Yeah that wasn't predictable at all that. Show. Some worrying concern. We should clarify. Four days until the election is not over yet. That's right. Hashtag election does not we learned that an indicator that trump is. Conducting a coup and stealing the election is if there's an announcement of victory on election night because no longer are there to be results on election night that is just crazy to think that. Yet another way we re going back in time to the pre industrial era where you had to ride by horseback to. Cast your ballot by the time it was maybe that's why I. That's why inauguration day used to be in March. Because they probably had to travel and. Fight along the way I wish that were still the state I wish you had to be able to ride a horse to the ballot. We need to. I'm trying to get all these people. Saying let's let's let's get rid of most of the people that are voting. that. Ties anybody who can't ride a horse. Them selves out if they have it investigated or researched or if they don't like the choices, people were have fallen into this trap of feeling like they have to be forced to choose between a punch in the face kicking the balls and so they just choose the one that they hate the. This all focused towards that hate and propaganda. To the level of compulsory voting almost I got more and more text messages. Today I'm getting overwhelmed with them every five minutes I can't have to scroll up like fifteen minutes real text message from somebody that's not like a fake number that kind of looks like my phone number like, Hey, sme for move on. Are you going to vote for Joe Today? Hey, we heard you voter yet. Don't let your neighbors find I don't care find abors find out..

"Have, you know, And they also do a lot of charity events. This particular night they were doing a charity event where they don't on 9 11. Where they donated the proceeds of the night pot. To Stephen Siller Tunnel, the Tower's foundation, a great organization that we all know we all love. The place was packed. Staten Islanders love supporting that particular charity. They're great people, and it was packed and the line was so long for a table. That the owner let some people sit inside and wait for the table. Even the way the state liquor authority admitted that the owner told them he let some people sit inside. Because there was a pregnant woman in their party. Isn't this just insane? Joke? Isn't this just absolutely bonkers that thatyou. This's what could could actually put a family in the poor house. So Joyce is run by the O'Toole family. I don't know A lot of Irish last names. You get uncomfortable. With the choices Tavern is owned by the O'Toole family. It's a couple of brothers. It's the mom. It's dad. It's three generations and you just gonna dust this family's business. Because they get a nice thing by allowing a pregnant woman and her, you know, seatmates and tablemates to sit inside and wait for them to follow the rules and go outside. So this is why it really angered so many people on Staten Island, and I suspect that the Cuomo administration doesn't pull back and give him a little slap on the wrist. Given license back we will have a whole bunch of people standing outside in front of Joyce is supporting them in the near future, Joe. "That you know, you should have a regional conversation. This isn't helpful just to say this is one solution to fund just the MTA. Yeah. Let's just charge New Yorkers New Jersey could do that. And how would New York state people here in New York City people feel I mean may come here for giants games are jets game. And then what did the mayor say to that people in jersey, we'd be hurt too? Because the entire economy depends on our subways, and it's jobs. Lot them. Depend on. Also, look jersey will make its own decisions. I'm convinced. This was the right decision for the city, but also for the whole random Blasios ass should New Jersey be involved in all these discussions about congestion pricing. He said, Nope. Nope. Jersey transit which is a nightmare to begin with all more people are going to take public transportation 'cause they don't want to take their cars. How's it going to happen? None of this money is going to go to fund jersey transit or the pass train. And then the other thing we we touched on this yesterday. Apparently, George W GW bridge does not get the break. If you come through the channels, you will get the break. So, but you get a break come through the tunnel the care, but now everyone comes through the bridge. So now everyone's going to go through the tunnels through the channels. So you won't go. Oh, the bridge will be clear you got a lot of money take the ribs. And also people in Brooklyn, they're they're saying, well, wait a second. We gotta Staten Island. Why don't we get a break? Staten islanders get a break with the verrazano bridge. "You can buy all of my books. No. It's been quite a year. Frank, I've been portrayed by Steve Martin on Saturday Night Live a very weakened personalisation. I must say terrible. He needs to work on which I was surprised. He's a he's a great great performer. I was quite surprised. I now see that six that actor, Steve I think it's I think I believe it's Joe Cortesi is going to play you, pardon me is going to play me. This is a story here I can transfer. He's in the green door. While I was kinda hoping, you know honesty. For for someone else. But I'm sure they'll do a good job. I was portrayed in family guy the other day now, I really it's kind of you know, the the the phases of fame who is Roger stone. Get me Roger stone. Get me a Roger stone tight who is Roger stone. Yeah. You know? I've heard that phrase get me Roger stone somewhere. I don't recall where but still into get me. Roger stone's that is for sure at least in the eyes of federal prosecutors. So now people may not remember this, but you will also portrayed years ago in the movie about ROY Cohn who you end the president both had a relationship with a citizen Cohn who plays you in that film. I it's funny. You say that 'cause James woods is who I would have chosen to play the present day, Roger stone. And that's what I would have gone had I been casting the film. But I and I don't recall the name of the actor who played being a tiny cameo. Although I really think James which is one of the greatest actors of our day he plays. Bob Haldeman in Oliver Stone's movie Nixon. He plays ROY Cohn in the movies. This cone both men that I knew and both men whose every secrecy every characteristic. He captures you an incredible way as James woods is really underrated. He's one of the greatest actors of our age, Roger let me pick your brain on one or two quick other items in the news. We're seeing that former Massachusetts Governor William weld may run in the Republican primaries against Donald Trump and twenty twenty now I supported William Weld when he ran for governor of New York in two thousand six and the person that introduced me to him in that campaign was you Rogers, don't so you clearly, you know, both men I'm sure you've known them both a long time. How do you handicap a Bill weld versus Donald Trump Republican primary? Well, first one I really liked Bill weld. He's a good friend of mine. Eight maybe one of the smartest men I've ever met. But this is a miscalculation. Donald Trump is popular with ninety three percent of Republican voters in a recent poll that I saw I just don't see the constituency or the vacuum for a challenge to the president within his own party. John chae-suk Mitt Romney notice those guys are stepping forward. They stepped forward with their criticism, but they don't step forward with their candidacy. Bill weld is a guy was time on his hands. He's a very smart guys, very engaging and funny guy. He's a great campaigner. But you tell me Staten Island head-to-head Bill weld versus Donald Trump. How does that work? I don't even think the vast majority of Staten islanders, even Republicans know who. Bill weld is. And I so I don't see that going anywhere in all candor. But so that's that is interesting. Speaking of the president's critics, one of the president's most vocal critics was John McCain the country both domestically and internationally you still dealing with the repercussions of some of John McCain's actions..

"You at six AM. We did seventy the answer. Embark on audio adventure in which nothing is off limits politics movies organized crime and a social issues that really irk you. It's all on Morongo. Please welcome. The man who all the talk show host one of and all the politicians come to see live on nine seventy the answer. Frank. Morongo. Good Morrow everybody. Happy Saint Patrick's Day may the luck of the Irish shine of Mon you if you think I talked too much about the mob or if you think that or if you don't enjoy mob talk. Tune out from the next ten minutes sleep, another ten minutes changed the station for ten minutes comeback in ten minutes because this has been the biggest two weeks in mob news in I would say the last three decades. Obviously, the big news and the national news just did this item. So I don't want to hear from anybody that it's not newsworthy. The the top of the hour network news just did this story. It has of course to do with the murder of reputed Gambino crime family, boss, Frank Kelly. Now. Just some background for those of you those of you that are uninitiated in mafia dam, which is but let me actually even take a step back further. Sometimes people will write to this radio station and say, oh, we you know, I don't understand Franks love affair with the mob. Let me be very clear. I do not have a love affair with the mob. I think most of the people that tend to go into the mafia these days, especially our total Chadrel's people with a muscle in between both ears people that aren't exceptionally bright people. That would rather cheat steal and game. The system than actually go out and work for a living. I have very little respect for anyone that would join them up. And then the supposed oath that you take when you join the mob. It's total nonsense almost everyone in the mob. Especially these days, they will violate every aspect of that quote, unquote. Oh, I think you're the mafia these days, especially your total low life that being said if you look at the people that I've stuck up for an I've advocated for in the history of my being on the radio. This station at another station. I stand by each and every one of them if you and I think I've been born out if you look at the case of John Gotti junior. John Gotti junior is sort of a Michael Corleone gone. Right, right. He legitimately did withdraw from organized crime. That is a success story that is some after paying his debt to society that to me is the kind of thing people should be doing Tommy g Yolly, I was reputedly the the the Colombo crime family, boss acting boss. He is someone that was that have the the gumption to actually challenge prosecutors version of events through a blog, and I saw one how he was being treated in prison to that. They kept him for years without a trial and three that they tried to shut down the spot. What happened with Tommy G O? He was acquitted of six murders. Have you look at? Anybody's yana. I've never met minibus, Geno. I don't know of anybody of any gorgeous from the banana crime family, my issue with him and his prosecution wasn't that he was not guilty. I'm all for throwing the guilty away, and you know into prison my issue with anybody. She was they tried to give him the death penalty after he was already in prison. It was a total waste of taxpayer money. Joel Joe Waverly Joel cook as another one acquitted of murder. So if you look at all the people Frank de Medina the supposed modest associated caterer and Staten Island, obviously Franken different case because I I was friendly with him. He was born out. Totally never did a day in jail. I think was totally acquitted. So I think if you look at all the cases that I've advocated for shockingly, it's mostly instances of people that are innocent charged with the crimes they're charged with being acquitted. So. I I have an allegiance to the constitution, and I have an allegiance to fair play. So because I'm the only guy that sticks up for criminal defendants and the criminal Justice system on the radio. Sometimes people think that I have a love affair with the mob. I absolutely do. Not what I have a problem with is the government giving a get out of jail free card to real mobsters like Sammy Grovonni, oh like Dino collaborative like a number of others that we're going to discuss and in exchange for like Joe job, Joe Massino and get an exchange for their willingness to ally and or rat on their criminal cohorts. They get a get out of jail free card. They get total forgiveness get to keep all the money that they earned. That's my problem. And that is not at all a love affair with the mob that being said. Gambino reputed Gambino crime family, boss, Frank Kelly was murdered. Now. What is the Gambino crime family in the New York, New jersey area? There are six area crime families. You have the Gambino's the bananas the vs the lucozzi. The who am I missing the Colombo's? And then the Di Cavalcanti family, which is primarily New Jersey. That's the family that the show the sopranos is purportedly based on. The each of these six families historically has had sort of a hierarchy structure at the top of that pyramid. Is the boss right beneath him is the underboss right beneath him as the Consiglieri. The those are the three people that make up the administration so Frank Kelly a Staten islander a father a husband was murdered Wednesday night. At his outside of his home in Staten Island, shot multiple times initial reports whether he shot six times now the same as have been shot ten times. Now, this is noteworthy a newsworthy because it's so rare we have not seen a New York area. Mafia, boss, murdered since one thousand nine hundred eighty five. Remember my interview with Jerry Capucci a few weeks ago. I asked him what what is the mafia do these days, and he basically said, well, they don't kill people as much as they used to. So that in and of itself made this whole Frank Kelly murder quite rare had been the last mob. Boss, murdered was another Gambino crime family, boss, Paul Castellano. Another Staten islander, another toad hill. Resident he was murdered supposedly on the orders of John Gotti senior. And that's how that's how John Gotti senior ascended to being the boss of the gag. Gambino crime family, if mob Lor is correct. So Frank Kelly was murdered on Wednesday. And immediately this became a big media story. And I understand that look I talk about the mob on this radio program, the public as you see from a popular television shows and movies, like the sopranos and goodfellas and the godfather and casino list goes on and on has an appetite for hearing about mafia damn, okay, fine. I get it. I I'm a participant. And then I'm just amazed at the level of coverage in the news media, especially the tabloids over this Frank Kelly murder. There seems to be on the part of the press an effort not to get to the truth. But to completely sensationalize this now one of the few people that got this right now that came to mind they killed Frank Kelly outside of his home. That is an instance of no respect like Paul Castellano. At least they they killed him. Not that matters to him. He's still dead outside of spark steakhouse, not in front of his home with his wife and children home. And it's funny. I was Mike Gallagher, and I'm Mike, and I are good friends. He gave he sent me. This text message on Friday. He said that doesn't sound like a mob hit. They don't usually do that near someone's family. Right answer. Right. Mike gallagher. Turns out was correct. Mike gallagher. Got commonsense smarts. I don't know that he knows much about the mom aside from watching occasionally a few documentaries. So I am just amazed at the level of coverage that the story got between Wednesday and yesterday not in terms of the magnitude in the volume of coverage, but the quality of the coverage the quality was so poor. Let's begin with USA today. Headline Gambino murder sparks, mafia. Rumor mill a couple of guys got to get killed now. That's the headline in published on Friday in USA today in I guess the weekend. Editions you pick up USA today this weekend. You will see this story and this story in USA today quotes three people two of them. What one has zero credibility? A second has very little credibility a third. Okay. He might be somewhat credible. Okay. This is how the story begins. Mobsters and ex mobsters even those who have been exiled to the witness protection program gossip like schoolgirls. So when Gambino crime family boss Frank Kelly was shot dead Wednesday night in front of his Staten Island home. The stunning breaking decades of relative mob piece, set phones of members and alumni Cosa Nostra a flight with speculation as to the actors and motives behind his murder. Quote, is it buzzing former Gambino captain, Michael Michael, Mikey scars Di Leonardo asked rhetorically about the current state of the mafia rumor mill his response, it's on fire. And then it quotes throughout this whole article, Michael de Leonardo and John a light as experts in everything mafia-related now understand who these two guys are these are two people whose main claim to fame is participating in a life time of crimes and not having to go to prison because they were willing to testify against in Mikey, Mikey. Leonardo's case everybody in Johnny lights case, John Gotti junior. Now, Mikey DeLeon auto was a real gangster. He was a captain in the Gambino crime family did know a thing or two about mafia damn his father was in the mob. His brother-in-law was in the mob. He he knows he is you may not like the guy he knows a thing or two about mafia. And if you watch Michael de Leonardo, and I've seen them testify probably about five or six times he is someone that really enjoys being a gangster. He review even now that he can't be a gangster because he's a rack. He loves it. You can tell he really loves it, and he's not a bad witness, and I found much of his testimony. He put on a good show. This is someone by the way that I wanna point out got to keep that is now free and got to keep hundreds of thousands of dollars. They're about in ill-gotten gains and put it in his pocket didn't have to make restitution to his victims. He got to keep hundreds of thousands of dollars in spite of the fact that he was a participant in two murders and countless other crimes all because he he was able to catch a ride on that Dottie freedom train and be able to rat on all of this criminal cohorts. So they quote, Michael Di Leonardo and then they quote, John a white who has zero credibility, and I've gone through chronicling John lights issues for years and years and years. Johnny light wasn't even in the mafia. He was not even in the mafia. He was a low level drug dealer. Even prosecutors. They call my mom, associate not even in the mafia. And yet he's writing books. Fine to get movie deals trying to build a whole career in this case being quoted in USA today as an expert in the world of the mafia. This is who they go to. What is Johnny light said in this article in USA today, quote, if this is still a mafia that guy's gotta get killed that did the shooting. Yeah. He knows right. Even in the mafia, and he's quoted as an expert and anybody that helped them anybody who was associated with this murder, whether it was mob related or not a couple of guys gotta get killed now. This is absurd. Okay. And then they quote retired FBI supervisor Bruce now now, Bruce now, I don't have that much of an issue with Bruce. Now, I think his tactics in going after John Gotti bordered on the unethical. And maybe even the the whatever mecca relitigate cases from twenty five years ago. But Bruce Mao was doing a job his job was to be an FBI agent. And he did it. He did it job. Okay. Maybe a little Gresley at times fine. Okay. Now, Mel credited the long lull in violence. Not so Frank Kelly was very low profile used to see John Gotti senior in all the tabloids used to see him around town wearing his high prices he'd have equipped for a reporter now. And then Frank Kelly was the opposite of that very low profile and a lot of people credited him with reducing mafia violence, Bruce Mel credited, the long lull in violence, not to Kelly, but to Tupper organized crime statutes with devastating sentences for those convicted of mob related murder. Now also stated that though multiple news outlets have referred to Kelly as the reputed boss of the family his information. Is that Kelly was underboss? Okay. Now, I want you to think about that. This. Bruce now, who's been retired? I think for fifteen years from the FBI is saying that what's been reported. And all the papers is not accurate now. I have no idea if he's right or not I have no idea who the boss of the Gambino crime family is I don't know anything about the Gambino crime family because I'm not the mob, right or in law enforcement. But Bruce now is saying. It's not the boss. It's the underboss. Now, I want you to just think about that for a second a private citizen, which is what Bruce Maui is is claiming that he knows better than what's being reported. That he's the underboss not the boss. So that means one of two things is happening. That means..

"You about Empire State Bank. I love these guys. You know, I thought that when my Bank was sold became publicly traded that that was it. That was the era of the local Staten Island Bank was over. And that's not true. Well, it's true. It's not just as an island Bank empire does have branches in Staten Island Brooklyn and the lower Hudson valley, you go there, and it's a banking experience. Unlike anything I've ever seen you go to most banks they have teller she go up to a teller. Oh, this is what I wanted to posit this. That's not the case here. There's no plexiglass. Every interaction you have there is personal and memorable. They have these pods. Instead of teller stations were service, associate meets you and disgusts discusses with you wherever you want to discuss opening an account learning to use the mobile banking app. I can tell you with my Bank. And there's no doubt in my mind that I'm switching the by state Bank. My only the only reason I'm still at my old Bank is because I have all my bills automatically coming out of there. And I don't want to necessarily go to the trouble of of switching twelve different bills. But when my mom saw the kind of CD rates that they have an Empire State Bank with no minimum. She wants to open me an account there. That's how competitive these CD rates are now, I don't know that I need her to do it. I'm like to do it on my own, but the CEO Phil Gwyn area. Who's a terrific guy? Like most Staten islanders. He's from Brooklyn. He knows you have to invest in the best people. To train them differently. And make sure they love their jobs and not only do you get great employee's that way. But you get very happy customers, and I have to tell you this party that they had for the branch opening a rep by my apartment on.

"Questions, Joe Brel, you know, everything about Stanton island, but you better not give it away. I won't give it away. I'll say I'll just say it has something to do with the Alamo, which is actually very interesting. Connection on how it came to be. All right. We will. Because I know, you know, all you are Mr. Staten Island. You doing such a great job job really represents that Nyland in New York City council and contributed to the hill on Fox News all the time. Joe I saw your tweet about a Colin Kaepernick. I mean, these are national issues, you know, and we like to stay local out of the time. But what the heck is going on with Nike, my friend. I thought Nike put athletes in their heads. I don't know what sport Colin Kaepernick is playing. He's playing ping pong basement. I guess that's who's going to be the new face of just do it. But seriously Nike goes out of its way to pick someone who's controversial no longer a football player, essentially, just in it for for the polarization. Just Dave for the controversy. They picked him to be the spokesperson for their their icon ick brand ads, and they are shocked that there's this awful backlash this awful reaction because someone who stands against the police who characterized police said. Liquors whatever you wanna call insults. The flag by refusing Stanford the national anthem they are so surprised at this person might give a little bit of negative connotation to their bread. Yeah. It's so true men are your days of buying Nike sneakers over well. Well, I I so I've been a new balance man for quite a bit of high now. By Dr rock Positano out. I mean, look Nike is a brand that most people wear. It's extremely popular brand is a brand that that that you know, I grew up wearing Nikes Don Mary we had Nike cleats. Michael Jordan had air joins they were Nikes and Joe Montana. The king of kings in my life as a kid Nike cleats to affect. There was a great. And I put it on my Facebook page if the Joe Montana ninety nineteen five Super Bowl ad, and it just awesome. I remember it as a kid. Yeah. But they're opening a store. Nike's opening a store in Staten Island man now, and you want to work, man. But then he works against us up. I mean, how do you think that will go over with Stanton island? I'm not calling for a boycott. But there are literally tens of thousands of law enforcement and veteran families in this borough who just don't want to be associated with the with the brand that would make such a declarative statement against sort of patriotism against the pride. We have in our lawn. Enforcement. I. Mostly tourists will visit and I imagine they don't care. Workaday Staten islanders. I can't see us really frequenting the store. However, miss Modell Nike. So the sponsor. So we gotta get going to Modell's. Thank you. We gotta go to boast, by the way, he's played those. But exactly the debate is over restaurant surcharges. What is that? Well, I'm trying to save the restaurant industry. So Andrew Cuomo might end what's called the tipped wage credit for restaurants, and how they basically avoid some payroll taxes because they have tipped employees. The blogger administration, despite the fact that we have liberals sponsoring the Bill. We have conservatives like Grover Norquist's Americans are tax reform behind the Bill. A broad spectrum of people build a blog doesn't want to pass this Bill will alleviate some of the financial burden on restaurant owners. I you we we both love restaurants. We've seen successful restaurants stale. We've seen restaurants that are pets go under. How do you compete when when you're a restaurant struggling, and and and the city of New York, the state of New York, there's nothing but put more and more rules took to just make you. Yeah. Well, this clause restaurants to close. Do you think Joe? No, just the opposite. If we passed my Bill, by the way, legal in every other city in the United States of America. It would just allow the restaurant owners to to be open about why the prices on their menu are changing instead of jacking price for a ten dollar hamburger to fifteen in pretending like, you're no wiser they can simply say retu- ity included or something like that. Again. What's your diet in every city around the country, the only city that specifically prohibited? Well, now, the mayor's charter revision commission came out with its recommendations yesterday. Is it true? They're actually going to be giving politicians even more taxpayer money. Joe? Yes, political welfare, which is great for me because I'm doing my re election in twenty twenty. And now, I can basically.
