Speaker Pelosi Calls for Commission to Investigate January 6 Attack
"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Congress will establish an independent September 11 style commission to look into the deadly insurrection that took place of the U. S. Capitol. Pelosi says the commission will quote, investigate and report on the fax and causes relating to the January 6th domestic terrorist attack upon the United States Capitol complex. And relating to the interference with the peaceful transfer of power, the speaker says in a letter to Democratic colleagues of the House will also put forth supplemental spending to boost security at
Trump acquitted for second time following historic Senate impeachment trial
"This morning are similar to what they were almost exactly a day a week and a year ago after being acquitted in the foreign interference impeachment case. Now. Former President Donald Trump has been acquitted again, this time for incitement of insurrection following the events of January 6th. But this time, seven Republican senators broke with their party that was still 10 votes short of conviction. I want to begin this morning with one of the impeachment managers. Colorado Democratic Congressman Jonah Goose. He's in Washington. Good morning, Congressman. Morning market. It is with you. You close your argument yesterday by saying extremist groups, maybe emboldened and the violence on the 6 may just be the beginning. Are you saying Republicans are complicity in that? And if so, how do you work across the aisle with them now? Well, look what I was saying. Margaret is very heartfelt on my behalf and on behalf of all the managers is a real fear that I think many Americans have. After witnessing the terrible violence that happened on January 6th the insurrection. It took place on our nation's account nation's capital that without accountability that many of these groups could very well become more emboldened and on, perhaps engaged in more violence I had hoped And more senators would ultimately honor their oath by convicting the president. But make no mistake. I mean the big difference between this year and the headline he referenced last year's just how historic this vote. Wasit was the most bipartisan impeachment vote in the history of our Republic. 57 senators, including seven Republicans, that you mentioned chose country over party looked at our fax objectively that we presented to them considered the evidence and reached the same conclusion. We did. You said the president incited insurrection, and we shouldn't lose sight of that. I want to salute and commend those seven Republicans. People like Ben Sasse and Mitt Romney. Really profile Encourage, in my view in terms of the vote that they took. Why did you back off the request for witnesses? That's a fair question. I don't know that I would characterize it that way. Look, I know a lot of people ask for them said the senator said yes and then the House managers said they didn't require them that's backing off. Over well, So here's what I would say. I'm happy to answer the question. So lead manager asking touched on this. Yesterday He proceeded with the request for one witness, not multiple witnesses. The request was for video testimony, a deposition testimony, which is how that's been done in prior impeachments, for example, during the Clinton impeachment 1999 of congresswoman Rare Butler, given what we had learned about her statements, and just the night before the full extent of her remarks, rather the conversation she had with minority leader Carthy that she had with President Trump. And clearly, that conversation went directly to the president's state of mind. And in our view, and in the view of clearly 57 senators supported our theory of the case. So we proceeded, lead manager asking Rather proceeded with that request, it became very clear to us. The President's council was only to stipulate to allow that statement to come into evidence and be considered by the Senate. And that was an important stipulation. Ultimately, lead manager Raskin read out that statement, both to the State Senate into the broad American public, But I'll just also say, Margaret, look, I think it's pretty clear and leave. And you're asking touched on this. Whether it was five more witnesses or 5000 witnesses. It is very clear that the senators who voted to acquit on a technicality, which was the jurisdictional argument that we had successfully defended early in the trial, and actually had convinced the majority of the Senate, including Republicans. That the Senate did have presidential jurisdiction and move forward. It would not have made a difference to those senators. And you heard that from Mitch McConnell himself, who conceded that the president was morally responsible for provoking the events of January 6. Well, there do seem to have been some key items that came up at the last minute or were frankly, you know, overlooked until the last minute you mentioned Congresswoman Herrera Butler's comments, but she said she first made those public back in January. I also want to play for you these comments from Republican leader McCarthy that were on CBS coverage during the siege. I'm giving you the opportunity right now that your precious and beloved United States Capitol and our democracy is witnessing this call the spade, a Spain. I was very clear with the president when I called him. Attacks have stopped, but he has to. He's got to go to the American public and tell them to stop it. This is not who we are. This is not who his supporters are. This is more than politics. This'd the foundation of this nation. This is the democracy that we're supposed to be the torch for the rest of the world. This is not a view we should see and nobody should encourage it and nobody should be a part of it. That's the Republican leaders saying on live television. He personally asked the president multiple times to call off his mob. Why leave key moments like that on the table? I disagree The profits of that question, Margaret that, yes, that statement that you just mentioned certainly were aware of, I think And again, I differently man Raskin on the seven entry point. But the full extent of the conversation that leader McCarthy had with the president is what we and the country learned about just in the last 48 hours. The president's response. Leader McCarthy that those rioters was insurrectionists cared more about the election results. Then he did that was new information. And so it was important for the Senate to consider that but again, But when you wanted to have the asked McCarthy, you're yourself these questions. I mean their ideas. I'm sure you've seen reports and comments from Democratic senators like Chris Coons that You know, this just would have taken too long. If the stakes were high As you're saying, why not here? From these witnesses. I I'd say a couple things first. It was very clear and again for the leader manager asking, but my understanding that witnesses that were not friendly to the prosecution we're not going to comply voluntarily. Which meant that we would be litigating subpoenas for months to potentially years And I know you know this, Margaret. You covered this extensively during the first impeachment were still litigating the subpoena Don began. The Judiciary Committee issued two years ago. So look at the end of the day leader McConnell himself yesterday acknowledged The president's disgraceful dereliction of duty. Is it Is it an A number one? You? You look very quickly that you looked right at leader McConnell and part of your remarks. Did you ever think you were going to persuade him to convict? I was hopeful, you know, Look, I care a great deal about this country as the son of immigrants and someone who's been given so many freedoms and opportunities here, United States I was hopeful that every senator would ultimately vote to do the right thing. And I'm glad I'm grateful that seven of them on the Republican sock it that obviously history much of the rest. Congressman. Thank you for your time this morning.

House impeachment managers to conclude case against former President Trump
"Impeachment trial of former President Trump and Congresswoman Diana DeGette. He played Mr Trump's video from January. What she said Their movement was only just getting started. The jet noted that in the aftermath of the attack, there was an increase in threats their own statements before, during and after the attack, make clear. The attack was done for Donald Trump at his instructions and to fulfill his wishes. House and pizza manager Jamie Raskin if we let him get away with it Then it comes to your state Capitol. Where comes back here again? What are we gonna say CBS is Major Garrett on the attempted kidnapping of Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and January 6th. I think shocked all of us into an awareness that no What happened in Michigan was telling us something, foreshadowing something that we missed. And the argument made today is Don't miss it now.
Trump impeachment trial gets underway in Senate
"Debate four hours of that on whether it's even constitutional as Donald Trump is now out of office, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham tells Fox of the trial will damage democracy when you combine a snap impeachment. With an impeachment of our president who's out of office. You're going to destroy the presidency itself. I know you hate Trump. But please pull back before we set in motion the destruction of the presidency. Maisy Hirono from Hawaii, a Democrat, tell CNN of the GOP is running scared what is happening with my Republican colleagues, most of them Is their extreme fear of Donald Trump and the Trump Base. Katie Porter, another Democrat from Orange County congresswoman talked about it with the L A Times. So one of the arguments that President Trump made is that he can't be subject to criminal prosecution. But that makes it all the more important that we use the tools the Constitution has provided like impeachment. Florida Republican Congressman Matt Gates tells Fox that Maxine Waters and others have made inflammatory speeches. In the past, The president's lawyers will do their job. If they can show that the Democrats are trying to establish a standard of conduct that they themselves cannot live by now, though, they're Brazil is probably going to be the same as the first trial. Do not expect this one to be a lot like the first It'll provide closure for Democrats, but little else, says Washington Post political columnist Dana Milbank, who down stem a Kratz will be able to sway the minimum number of 17 Republicans needed for conviction outside chances. Mitch McConnell, Republican leader, sort of let it be known that he was open. To it. I think most people are highly skeptical of that. Obviously, if he went in that direction, many others would follow even the serious nature of the charges. Milbank says the trial ought to happen regardless of the likelihood of a guilty verdict. When there's something serious like this in an assault on the United States Capitol that put the lives of lawmakers of the vice president in danger, you get a kind of air it out. You can Sweep it under the rug and move on. But he expects a good number of Americans are ready to move on and are likely to tune the trial out. Brian paying. KNX 10 70

Country Before Party
"Okay so like i said we have congressman castro's in d. c. The reason why. I wanted to bring him on it actually. I wanted to talk to him at the start of the joe biden transition and then the capital attack happen and then i found out during this whole impeachment proceeding that. He was one of the nine impeachment. Manager's name by speaker of the house. Nancy pelosi and i said i gotta talk to representative castro who represents the twentieth congressional district in texas and on wednesday before talked to him. He was on the floor of the house during the second impeachment. Vote and this is what he said. Donald trump is the most dangerous man to ever occupy the oval office. I wanna take you back one week ago. Today when people were barging through these doors breaking the windows with weapons armed pipebombs coming here to harm all of you to harm the speaker to harm the senate. Let me ask you a question. What do you think they would have done if they had gotten in. What do you think they would have done to you. And who you think sent them here. The most dangerous man to ever occupy the oval office if inciting a deadly insurrection is not enough to get a president impeached. Then what is all of us. Must answer that question today. The constitution requires us to impeach and remove. Donald john trump. So here is the conversation that i had on wednesday evening literally about fifteen minutes after the house of representatives voted to impeach donald trump for the second time congressman castro was in his office in dc. And i was in my latino rebels studio in an undisclosed location. So here's the conversation. First of all thank you so much for saying yes to this. I'm honored that you said. I'm talking to julio before anybody so that means a lot all right so here. We go representative castro. Were talking literally right after the vote to impeach. Donald trump for the second time happened before we get into the events of this wednesday. Can you talk to me about the events of last wednesday and what. It really meant being there. Because i honestly feel congressman. That people are starting to forget what's happening and it's only been a week. Can you tell me what went on. Since the election for weeks months actually donald trump had been saying that he won the election and that it was stolen from him and that he wanted landslide and finally asked his supporters to come to washington on january six and the president held a rally and he repeated those claims about this idea that he was denied a second term in the presidency. And of course these are supporters who were die hard supporters of donald trump. So the idea to them that the guy that they trust is saying these democrats the election from me that incited them to march to the capital and for some of them to become violent and engage in an insurrection. Attempted coup at the united states capitol takeover the senate floor and try to make their way into the house chamber and so it was very scary and intense period. I was in my office in the rayburn building and There were in the halls in the tunnels police officers. Who were frantic. Who were asking everybody to lockdown and shelter in place because the security has been breached by that point and it turns out but it was actually even worse than we imagine. People were armed. Some of them had arms. Five people lost their lives that day. It so this will go down as an ugly tragic and sad moment in american democracy in american history.

"Thank you peter. I appreciate the time of course. Last week's assault on the capital was shocking. But it stemmed from a mob mentality. that's only increasing access. Sara fisher has been reporting the so-called group think is actually fueled by the internet. Sarah i think a lot of is actually has to do with the way our brains categorize and process information. And what are researchers telling you about the science behind this scientists and researchers find that people rely on mental shortcuts. Heuristic six to be able to determine whether or not something is true or false and common heuristic include. Things like relying on certain demographics people that are similar in skin tone in religion in socioeconomic status as you are to verify facts and information and so some of the researchers that we've talked to said that for many people in america. Donald trump became a heuristic. He became somebody that people relied on to verify. News and information so that they themselves wouldn't have to deduce whether or not something was fact or officiant. Sincere as you've spent time seeing alvis plays out on not just mainstream but fringe right platforms. What does it look like in the digital space what you find on fringe platforms. Is that the same still turn that are used in twitter and facebook to weed out misinformation. They just don't exist. And so you're gonna see at lot more very racially motivated. A league scary types of memes. One that i saw following the capital attack wasn't visual of a police officer looking at a black person during the blm riots. And he says hey. How can we work with you to make this stop. And it's the same police officer with a gun pointed at a writer and the capital. Basically saying i'm going to shoot you so the idea with what you just described as at the police were antagonizing protesters at the capitol. Exactly right and to that point how it ties into what we've been talking about. Use tons of people show up to the capital last week with all these signs. That said blue lives matter. We love cops yet. When police officers tried to urge these protesters to back down. They would scream at them and quite honestly be violent against them. And so that's just a good example of how group think was really prevalent capital riots to the point where it overrode any logic or anything that these riders stood for. If it meant getting to the point that they wanted to get to you which was just storming a capital. In creating an insurrection associated press says at least ninety people have been arrested for their participation. In last week's insurrection. The charges ranged from misdemeanors like curfew. Violations to felonies that include assault on police officers illegal weapons possession and making death threats against house speaker nancy pelosi sara fischer rights xs media trends newsletter. La county has been battling the worst corona virus crisis in the country. more than twelve. Thousand people have died almost half of that over just the past two months. Hospitalizations have stabilized recently but healthcare workers are bracing for post-holiday surge run. Lynn has been covering the covid crisis for the l. a. times ron. What's the most urgent part of this crisis for la right now. The hospitals are overwhelmed. We have a situation where hospitals around the county are prepared prepared to initiate. What's known as crisis standards of care and this is a situation in which doctors have run out of staff and equipment and starts need to make the difficult decisions about who gets the most aggressive saving treatment and attention of the critical care nurses and the ventilators and respiratory therapists and those who do not because they're deemed less likely to survive. The hospitals are so overcrowded that it's taking ambulances as much as seventeen hours to drop off patients in the emergency room. It can be anywhere from three to ten hours but in the one of the most extreme examples we've heard seventeen hours and this is causing. Great consternation because heart attack patients stroke. Patients are not getting into the hospital as quickly as possible. And that's a big problem. Run i know. This is probably a complex question to ask. But what is your reporting show about why. This is so bad in la right now. Yeah i mean i think. Part of the issue is that california l. a. did relatively well in the spring and the summer we were seeing these surges elsewhere in the country and other states but it hasn't quite hit california so there's almost a sense that california had figured it out and i think what ended up happening was people started gathering again. State officials did actually for the first time allow people to start gathering small groups. They said it was outdoors but people started taking liberties with that. The big thing that happened was of course thanksgiving when people came together even though health officials pleaded with them not to and i think that is a major reason for why we're in this severe situation right now and so are we expecting another big surge. After christmas and new year's given what happened over thanksgiving a lot of people are expecting that the hospitals have to be prepared for the worst. The big question though will be this week. La county is seeing seven hundred fifty two eight hundred new covert hospitalizations every day. It's gone as far up as a thousand now. It's entirely plausible. That we could see it. Double even triple that and if that happens that's bring us to a catastrophe..

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us this morning. My pleasure to be here thank you. Why do you feel like lansing. Needs the national guard for the coming weeks when someone tells me they may be violent. I wanna take them at their word and heed that warning. I watched the events unfold in our nation's capital last week. Many of my friends are staffers. On capitol hill. I was texting with them. Fearful that. I would never hear from them again. Never see them. And when. I didn't get responses. My mind went to the worst place and i don't want the people i work with on a regular basis to have that happen to them. What we saw last week was an attack on our democratic institutions. And what we saw last may with rifles intimidating. our state senators was also an attack on democratic institutions. I don't want to see that happen here again. And i wanna make sure that whatever first amendment demonstrations we see in our community don't turned violent. Don't turn destructive. Why is the open carry ban not enough to make sure that doesn't happen because the ban for open carry in the capital only applies to the inside of the capitol building. We have downtown businesses. We have buildings that aren't state-building. We have buildings that our federal property or city property where that ban has no impact. That ban has no wait so we need to make sure that law enforcement at all levels are prepared to keep the peace in our community. So i wonder with all of that sad. What keeps you up at night right now. what are you worrying about as lansing city council president. It is this type of stuff. It's what are the levers that i can pull on to ensure resident visitors safety. I hope that when all of this is over. We've overreacted. "He's also the executive director of the Committee to protect Medicare Dr Davidson. Thank you very much for joining us again tonight. What is the situation in Michigan tonight? Well I think when it comes to this this virus I think it is tenuous are cases. Aren't going down. Our governor is trying to follow the guidelines set out by the White House itself and yet we have a state legislature that is run by Republicans in both the House and the Senate that had like said voted to stripper of emergency powers that are giving tacit approval to These protesters are gathering against the advice. Not Observing social distancing and. I just saw this evening. Cellphone data from the last round of protests. The ones that are president tweeted out a Hashtag liberate Michigan about giving them approval. I saw cellphone data showing though cell. Phones scattering the state predominantly to West Michigan. Where I work. And we're seeing cases in west Michigan. Go Up fifty percent one hundred percent two hundred percent in some counties over the last few weeks and I just know that from today's protests people are going to go back to their communities in other parts of Michigan. And we're just going to keep doing the same thing over and over. We're never going to get out of this doctor. What does Michigan need? What do you need tonight? We need the ability to test individuals. We need the ability to test every single symptomatic person which now we can do in about the last week and a half which thankfully that's possible but I know at my hospital a couple of days away from from being out of slobs so we need the ability to test all of the context of those positives. We need the ability to test essential workers before they go into factories before we go into hospitals. And we don't have that ability. I know in this country we need at least a half a million to a million tests per day and worse currently sitting around two hundred fifty thousand tests today so the president of the United States needs to use his powers with the defense production. Act TO GET US though supplies and the test not just. The test has vice-president pence said but the ability to do the test so we can get ourselves out of this doctor. I want to go back to the numbers. Now I've made the point that it's a tiny number of protesters within the total population of a ten million person state. But the point you were just making. Was Those few hundred people today all breathing on each other all close to each other. All touching whatever passing signs around things like that that that group has the capacity to keep. Michigan's Corona virus numbers moving in the wrong direction. Correct as congressman. Raskin was saying as that are not or that a transmissibility number is still probably around two. Maybe maybe a little less. But it's more than one you know one person's get to more than one person. If those people go back to their communities and they go into grocery stores they go to their homes. They go visit with family. I don't believe they're probably observing social distancing at home as well as they should if they're willing to go to a rally like this that's just GonNa continue to spread of the virus and people who live in these other communities unbeknownst to them and they're doing everything they should. They are now at risk if these folks don't wear masks out in public like they're supposed to again if they want to get out of the situation the chance to do that as just listen to the Governor. Give it a few weeks and we can work ourselves out of this using data science. Doctor Rob Davidson. Thank you very much for the work. You're doing and thank you for taking some time to join US tonight. We really appreciate it thank you..

Polling data shows that Donald Trump has a lower approval rating than every single governor in the United States. All fifty of them every governor holes higher than the president of the United States. In that governor's state in Michigan Sixty. Three percent of people approve of how the Democratic Governor Gretchen. Whitmer has handled. The Corona virus pandemic thirty six percent of people approve of president. Trump's handling of the virus pandemic tonight after Michigan's Republican led legislature rejected Governor Whitman's request to extend a state of Emergency Declaration Governor Whitman issued a new executive order extending the declaration until May twenty eighth hundreds of people demonstrated outside Michigan's Capitol building today. That's a couple of hundred people in a state ten million people. Those people were protesting measures. Governor Whitmer put in place to keep those people safe from the spread of Corona virus. Many protesters carried assault weapons and had pro trump signs and pro trump campaign paraphernalia as protesters moved into the Capitol building democratic state. Senator Dunya Poll. Hanky posted this photo saying directly above me men with rifles yelling at us. Some of.

"Has been hit hard by cove. Nineteen the state has the third highest infection rate in the nation after New York New Jersey Massachusetts Republican governor. Charlie Baker extended his. Stay at home order this week to. May Eighteenth Boston. Saw this coming the Carney hospital in the dodgers. The Section of Boston was converted to an all cova one thousand nine hospital back on March seventeenth. That was a Saint Patrick's day like no other in Boston. History with the parade cancelled and the corona virus patients being wheeled into the county hospital joining us now. The Mayor Boston. Marty Walsh St. Mary thank you very much for joining us. I really appreciate it. I just want to start with what you can tell us about. How the county hospital's handling this tonight? And that's very provincial. Interest of mine since I grew up within a stones throw of that hospital. That's the first hospital I ever set foot in I was very proud actually to hear that it had taken the burden of covert nineteen as As fully as it did yeah. It was great to see the county. Do that Endorsers you now. They put a floor of day ended expanded since then And doing some really great work. Here you know this. This whole Colvin Nineteen Situation Boston watching the hospitals and all of the different institutions. Step up is really been amazing to say as we as we go through this difficult time. What has it meant to Boston that you are surrounded and you include some of the great medical science institutions in this country. You've got Harvard Medical School with researchers working on this. They're Massachusetts General Hospital. Brigham and Women's Hospital. You just have some of the greatest medical practitioners in the country. Has that given the city an extra sense of security about this. I think in some ways it has. It's definitely given me a sense of security knowing that not only are we providing world class care for the people in the patients that come in there but also at the forefront of the research and doing right now a pilot program in antibody pilot program Mass General Hospital doing thousand tests on people to Kinda get an understanding of who might have had the virus. Odds our kind of reconnecting going back to work if you will at some point. I'll looking at that information in the fact that you know you have mass general doing out yet. Raymond Women and Israel in the county and other hospital tops doing so many great things. It's amazing we have about ninety. Two hundred cases of chronic virus in Boston about three P three hundred people have lost a life and. I think that you know if we didn't have these great in Boston I think more people would have lost allies Where do you think Boston? Massachusetts is on the curve of this. You've just recorded the state's recorded record number of debts. Yeah you know. I think we're still in still in the curve and we haven't seen at least in the last five days here in Boston. Eleven offers still averaging about two hundred plus cases a day of Chronic Virus SAF People testing positive in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts but fluctuated between fifteen hundred to nineteen hundred. Of course a day. I still think we have a bit of a hill to climb here before we do see a plant shop. And there's you know there's a lot of work. We do a lot of work about explaining social and physical this insane in explaining to people the importance of washing hands and covering a face but but it seems like we still have the plateau. The positive side is a hospitals. We built a is you know hospital at the BCC the commander Col plots and hope on right now. We are about a hundred and forty two people in their debts with the how side of humbly on this folks in there and we are possible. That people in I'm in so it's not flow but it's definitely helping alleviate some of the pressure on hospitals to keep a hospitals available for armor Missouri. What do you need tests? I think two things we need. We need tests that we need to be able to to do a Elijah sampling of tests to really get understanding of. How do we move forward in? How do we begin phasing in approach to restart our economy here in Boston in Massachusetts? I think number one in the two we continue to need. P P We have we have hospitals that continued supply backup supply. We've nursing homes and assisted living facilities. That need this equipment. Set an we also need gowns So all of that stuff would order going on our own and we're trying to buy it from Third Totti's which is fine. We can do that in Boston. But the problem is is supply is not there and I think that those are some of the biggest concerns that I seen moving forward here I think defacto rushing back to work like I'm seeing other states. I hope that they're OK and I hope that it works out for them all but I know here in Boston. Massachusetts is not the time the rush back we we we need to be planning what it looks like going back but you previous guests was talking about that. We're going to be in this conversation in this situation for months and possibly a year ahead of US I am. We really have to think about. How do we make sure we so? We don't have a second surge when we starts at seven industry back to people back to our mayor. Marty Walsh. I can't thank you enough for joining US tonight. I know what your days and nights must be like during this pandemic. We really appreciate it. I'll take that I love. The accident was great in you know. Thank you for for doing incredible job covering this really appreciate. Thank you Marty..

"Dust that we've experienced but this virus won't stop transmitting until we get to sixty or seventy percent of population infected and hopefully develop call this herd immunity now. How we're going to get there is not clear. There's kind of what I call virus gravity. There's GONNA keep drawing this virus to humans. It may be a big peak. That could occur Sometime in late summer early fall it could be a whole series of peaks. It's just kind of overlay on each other in many different areas and then finally it could just be a slow burn just continues and continues and continues. That's the challenge where we have a CORONA VIRUS. Unlike a flu virus where most of our modeling comes from but there is no question. We're going to have major major challenges with the number of cases the serious disease and as I've said Multiple Times this show here with you. We're only in the second inning nine inning game and so we've got a long way to go You've also said before that the the end of the line vaccine that there's really a everything between now and a vaccine is a is a version of struggle of some kind of Where do you? Where do you see us now in the vaccine with the news from Oxford? This week that they're making progress. You know first of all. Don't confuse having a vaccine that you can use. Research is having a vaccine is safe and effective and we've seen far far too many vaccines look at the HIV world itself. It's been littered with a promising technologies that then failed. I do think we have a chance for a vaccine but this is a very difficult virus. The Corona virus experts have been telling us for a long time that is very challenging. Make a long term effective vaccine that has protective immunity against this virus. We don't know in the short term. We have been growing evidence. Yes we can get some immunity for possibly months. Maybe it will be long term but so I'm very careful just because somebody is testing a vaccine right now doesn't mean that it's going to be effective but the fact that we've got one hundred vaccines that have lined up to be tested again as a very positive thing and I applaud the NIH. I applaud a number of organizations. That have moved quickly to get the research in place so that we can actually determine what we need to do to find a safe and effective vaccine. How do you read the numbers nationally? At the moment we we're seeing what seems to be a curve downward in the New York area and does that mean that April will be our worst month. That may may may might be better. Well I think you have to look at this again from the long term basis we we may see cases go up and down Multiple Times. I said the other night. Here that When governor Cuomo described the fact that they're on the back side of the mountain coming down I suggested that maybe rethink that that maybe they were just in the foothills. The mountains were yet to come And I say that because again going from that five. Fifteen percent infected population to sixty or seventy percent. That's one heck of a journey. That's going to be very tough and painful. And that's what we're not getting ready for when I keep hearing this happy. Talk that we could just get over this particular peak. We can just get through this time. We're home free. We have to learn a lot more about how to live with this virus. Because it's going to be with us for the months to come and happy talk will not get us there. We have to figure out. How are we going to deal with increasing cases what happens when we see a big spike in case in cases again? Which will happen. How are we going to deal with you talking tonight about the problems with people not wanting to shut down where we're at now? How will the country respond? That's we have to concentrate on Michael oester home. Thank you very much for joining us once again tonight. We really appreciate it. Thank you thank you and when we come back. Massachusetts has the third worst corona virus infection rate in the country and hit a new high in the number of.
