"The G I, Joe character, snake eyes is told from his beginnings and organized crime to becoming a defender of a clan in Japan saved my life. We are going home. I can't change your past, but I can offer you a purpose. For 600 years ago. An injury brought peace, Bob Alright, what I have to do. If you survive, you will gain access to our knowledge and our power. Cooper is coming. I actually watched the G I Joe cartoon When I was a kid, I think I think a premiered in 1982. And obviously Hasbro. It had the character of G I, Joe for years. I mean, gi Joe was just an army guy back. You know, before this, but in the eighties, they developed sort of this group of commandos. And they all some of them have. They're not like they don't have superpowers as much as they're very good at what they do. And then, of course, Cobra were the bad guys and Cobra commander had the silver face and they had ninjas and they had assassins and Both Cobra and G. I Joe. They fight against each other. It was almost marginally science fiction. It was almost superhero type. I mean, there's a lot more than just a guy running around in fatigues, which is kind of a G I Joe started as I used to watch that as a kid back on Saturday mornings in the early eighties. I really enjoyed it. It was one of my favorite cartoons. I was never a big Army movie kind of guy. I mean, I I mean, I've watched the military films are are or war movies, but I like to sci fi aspect to it. I mean, I grew up with Star Wars, So I was a big sci fi fan. And and this Delved into science fiction enough that I enjoyed it. So snake eyes is the third G I Joe movie they've made. I don't even know if it if it's consistent with those other two movies because this is very much centered on snake eyes in his background, there's a couple G I Joe characters that show up in here like Scarlett. That's not a big surprise. Samara weaving plays her. The story gives the backstory of snake eyes, but it's really not even snake eyes movie and a lot of ways. I mean, Henry Golden plays the character of snake eyes, and it is his movie in the sense that it starts with him as a character, and it follows him. As he gets trained and learns and changes some affiliations and becomes a better, uh, hero. You know, to the end where you know, of course by the Andes is full blown snake eyes with the outfit and everything that you recognize from the GI Joe cartoons. So it is his journey in a lot of ways, But in a lot of ways, it kind of isn't it's It's about him going. Through organized crime. He's well, he's sort of like just a bare knuckles. Boxer is a fighter who fights for money. And then he's brought into, uh, Yakuza gang. That's that's doing gun running. And then he betrays that Yakuza gang and goes off with a friend who he saves from them and they go back to Japan. And he's, uh, defending their clan against attack and and against this area. They live there for outside of Tokyo and They're trying to stop Cobra from bringing in guns. But it really is more the story of the clan and the characters in that and at a certain point snake eyes as a character is sidelined a bit, and it kind of reminds me a little bit of that mad Max movie Fury Road. Where that's really not mad. Max's movie, It's Furioso, this movie. Mad. Max is just literally along for the ride, and that's at times away. Snake eyes isn't that's any big complaint I have about it. It's that it doesn't stay focused on him as a characters. Kind of balancing it between him being a character in him kind of watching the action happen now when it comes to filmmaking quality. It's pretty good. It's got some good action sequences, and it's well done. It's it's relatively well paced. It runs a little long. And I would say compared to the other two g I Joe movies as just a raw quality of production. It's a better film of the three. It's the best one. Although it is in a lot of ways a story we've seen before. It does tread similar ground about somebody coming in as an outsider into this Japanese clan, and he learns their methods and their ways and he becomes respectful. And even though it takes place in modern day, there's a lot of like feudalistic Japan elements to it. That the dress and in fact that everyone is bringing a sword to a gunfight. No one's bringing a gun to the gunfight. Because that's what snake eyes is known for. But the biggest problem with that is that it does seem tired. We've seen this story a dozen times before in martial arts movies, while Japan and China and Indonesia and Malaysia and Korea are all very different cultures, martial arts like the tenants of martial arts that doesn't matter what culture and they all have. Very similar tenants of honor and respect and patience and that sort of thing. So it doesn't matter whether it's an old Generalistic Chinese kung fu movie or a modern Ninja movie. You're still seeing a lot of the same Beats in the story, and we've seen this. Even this year. We've seen that we immortal combat had elements of this. Of course you've got Shanxi and the legends of the 10 rings coming up in September. It's familiar, but it's a nice little action movie. If you like action movies, check it out. It's good. I don't know if it's anything groundbreaking. But what is that of the three G I Jane movies that have been made. It's probably the best one. So I'm going to have to say snake eyes kind of rocks. He kind of rocks, your listening to fat guys at the movies with Kevin Car. Let's talk about settlers really quick. The remnants of an early settlement on Mars, clash over the land and use of a home habitat. Earth.
Fresh update on "star wars" discussed on Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!
"Qualified people take on a challenge they never trained for. It's called not my job. If you're a billionaire with a spaceship, but if you would like to send, somebody actually qualified up there May we suggest Dr Ellen Stove fan, a planetary geologist, NASA scientists, the former director of the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum, and now the under secretary of Science and research at the Smithsonian. Dr. Still, fan. Welcome to wait, Wait. Don t tell me Thank you to be here. We got you here. We're delighted to talk to you about everything. But we mainly want to ask you did Jeff Bezoza and his crew actually go to space? Yes, they did by by any definition, they made it above what's called the Karman line, so they were actually in space. The Karman line. Yes, there is a famous mathematician called Theodore Ben von Karman, and he was the one that calculated where it was where you would be officially beyond the earth's gravity, And that's where you go weightless in space. They were in the shallow end of space. They were in the shallow end of space. But you know, space is really, really big, so it's pretty good to make it to the shallow and that will six Right? I would say. I mean, I don't know what your standard is, and obviously it's more important than mine. But my standard is you're not in space. Unless you had to use a zero gravity toilet. Well, I don't know I would hold it in before I would use a zero gravity toilet. I'd have to be up in space a really long time before I get back. Oh, yeah. So you grew up as sort of a a NASA brat, right? Your your father was a NASA scientist or engineer. That's right. He was a NASA engineer. So I went to my first rocket launch when I was four years old, which was an uncovered launch that exploded on the launchpad, which probably explains why I never wanted to become an astronaut. I was about to ask you grew up around space. You've spent your career exploring space, but you have no desire to go yourself. You know if I could go to Mars and actually crack open rocks and look for evidence of ancient life on Mars, I would do that, but just going up for a couple minutes into space. It's not got a lot of appeal. So your dad took you to work and then you watch this rocket blow up. Exactly. Do you think he had anything to do with this? Do you think he didn't want you to be an astronaut? I'm going to force her to go into the arts. Yeah, Yeah, Honestly, I would imagine. I mean you actually and when, and we're like the chief scientist at NASA and you worked at JPL. I would imagine you'd want to stay away from rockets for the rest of your life after that trauma? No. You know, I went to a lot of launches after that, because again, my dad was a rocket guys, So we went to an awful lot of launches. In many of them were successful. I saw the first probes to Mars launched the Viking Landers the Voyager probes that have made it out of the solar system. I was there in Florida when those were launched so I saw a lot of great launches to. I just want to know when that blew up. And and what did your dad say? Did he just go? That didn't work. Well, you know, I was four. Oh, so he could have told him. He could have told you is the fourth of July? Yeah. You know, I will say I really remember it. Even though I was only four. But he was in the blockhouse. And apparently what I don't remember is my mother told me apparently my sister and I got quite upset because we were like, I thought my dad like stood next to the rocket with like a big button. Oh, I see. You're afraid. So you weren't near your father. You're afraid like your father was like we were far away. So when he was in a blockhouse making this up Absolutely fine, but apparently I got someone upset, which is probably why I remember it so well, Peter. And can I ask a question? Go right ahead. Did Neil Armstrong go to the moon? Yes, ma'am. He certainly did. He certainly went to the men and my my favorite story around them is one of the astronauts, not Apollo astronauts when he was asked about it, and he had this great Texas accent he accept. I could see thinking it wants, But nine times, you know, we actually went to the man. Nine. Right? That's a good response. It's not as pungent as Buzz Aldrin just punching the guy, but you know well, that You do what you do. So you became if I'm not mistaken, a planetary geologist, and that is absolutely correct. I heard Carl Sagan talking about why we were going to Mars when I was 14, and I decided that's what I wanted to do. I was obviously a bit of a nerdy kid. That's so we keep being told that the discoveries being made on Mars. Very, very exciting. But every time the the discovery is always something along the lines of more rocks. And look dust. So what am I missing here? There might have been water here a while ago. You know I was trying to reach I normally have a rock within reach actually is just slightly out of reach. Um, you know to a geologist. Every rock is extremely exciting, but I will say When you're trying to figure out a whole planet, even one like Mars. That's a third the size of the earth. It's like a detective trying to figure evidence. So what we've been doing at Mars is figuring out was there water on the surface? At one point? Yes. How long did it stay on the surface? Wow about 500 million years. That could have been long enough for life to evolve. So all those discoveries you're hearing are like pieces in a puzzle that's getting us closer and closer to saying Did life actually evolved on Mars, and we've gotten all the way to the point now. Where it definitely could have. But did it is still the question? Yes. Have a question in terms of Mars. Did Matt Damon actually go to Mars? And is he okay now, you know, my my daughter had was walking out of the movie theater and someone said, Wow, This is a really great movie. I wonder when it happened. And it was like, um, no, that was just a movie. Do you get mad when movies are scientifically incorrect about space? You know, science fiction is incredibly important. I heard on NPR runs and I've ever known who who actually was the person who said this No one ever invented something that someone didn't imagine. First was me. That was me. I I said that. Hey, can you answer me this like in Star Wars? Uh, would they would they really with the with the really big explosions and fire or because the you know lack of oxygen would have just Kind of fold into each other when they, um no. There would be still explosions, But it wouldn't it wouldn't like. Look quite like it. Does They exaggerated a little bit? No, it would still explode. You've seen you've seen the back of just the Moroccan launch. We watched this week when the Rockets are firing in space. Things still glow red. And you still okay? And I would like to say thank you for not going. Who is this idiot? So in the planet of the apes, you know, like the you know, the first man of the extra Charlton has done right. So, uh, yeah, right. Do you think that could have, like, been enough time for the planet to evolve Like, what would you actually could you actually, time travel in space? That's the question. No Next question. Okay, Now, she said, is like I've had it with this more. I understand. Well, Dr Stowe fan, it is a real pleasure to talk to you. But we have, in fact asked you here to test your knowledge with a game we're calling. Why don't you step into my addict? The Smithsonian, as you know, is known as the nation's addicts. We thought we'd ask you About other people's addicts..

It was founded by a guy named colin west who is a diver and a filmmaker. The ultimate cost of this endeavor is two hundred and fifty thousand dollars on that i dive. They pulled two hundred pounds of trash from lake tahoe and tagged twenty larger items for subsequent removal. It's amazing that people still use our lakes rivers and oceans as garbage dumps. Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith Movie Review
"Is the movie jacqueline that we all were so excited to see if for no other reason because we thought it was our last venture into the galaxy far far away on the big screen and i have a simple question. And i'm glad it's your job not mine in under five seconds in a minute. What is revenge of the sixth about. Yeah okay so. This is definitely going to be breezy synopsis. But basically revenge takes place three years after the events of the clone. Wars advocate has been about his mission. People don't know these mary to pad may and one of the first things i ask him to do is to rescue the chancellor been given power over the senate and therefore the republic and he's been kidnapped and so then Anikin has to go and rescue him and during that same time one is on a different mission against general grievous. But it's during this time. That anna can become very close to senator pal patine before we eventually realized that he is the sieff lord that has been the puppet master behind all the events that led up to this moment as he wants to take control over the republic and turned it into what will eventually become the empire. During this time. There are various players. Folks are beginning to suspect palpitations motives and because of it. They ask anikin kim to spy on him but they do this. They tell him. Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 2 Review
"Episode two of the star wars. The bad batch reactions also went up over the weekend. That's tim that's barrett. That's roger corneas given all them. Good takes about stalwarts the bad batch. It's also available as a podcast if you search for kind of funny reactions on podcast versus a new feed. Go check it out. Go support it. How you like bad batch like an episode one. Highly highly worth watching for everybody. I think because it's kind of a mini movie. It's an hour and ten minutes plus. Oh a really really fun. Cool star wars story. I'm not going to spoil what it takes place because it's cool interesting time. Think you're gonna like it is it. Does it not take place in the clone wars like that. I know that's another show. It's okay but do they connect in any specific way. Just the fact that they're stars yes they can act but you do a really good job especially the first episode of just understanding that people might have never seen that animated things before and it being totally understandable. It's good stuff.

Behind the Desk: The Story of Late Night
"Began because jenny was writing monologue jokes and she noticed that there were jokes that she loved that. Seth just could never say out loud. That voice belongs to the very talented amber ruffin. Before becoming a host herself of the amber ruffin show on the streaming service peacock amber was a writer and performer. On seth meyer's late night show on nbc amber and her pow. Jenny hegel another seth writer brin the shows writers room one day just kind of riffing on the fact that as a black writer amber and a gay writer jenny. They naturally thought of jokes. That were decidedly the frame of reference for seth who is neither black nor gay and also guy the new movie star wars the rise of skywalker features a lesbian kiss and for most women sodas college. We didn't think it was going to be anything. We just thought it would make us laugh. Seth like this is great will do it on the show. We do not show great and we were like okay. Well we did it and then they were like. When are we going to do the next one. Is you got to be kidding. Me on its survived. It was a jenny's idea because she didn't like the number of perfect less in jokes that we're going in the garbage. There is no area off camera more important to every late night television show. Godzilla: A Monster Retrospective
"Week. We are two thousand fourteen. Godzilla directed by gareth edwards. I as always m. John and my name is henry this week. Yes this week. Unfortunately it has henry better luck. Next week this is zero credit supplemental reading as part of a series of you're familiar with zero credit supplement. To reading we will talk about a film in its entirety that we consider to be important that we've let go of that So if you have not seen this. I would recommend you see it or proceed with reckless. Abandon if you don't care because we will talk about it assuming you have seen the move eighth that's right. We will reference every minute and second of this movie covering that in its entirety until it feels like you've watched it to no. We're not we're not gonna do that. I don't know why said that we are going to talk about the movie and link. Let's do it. Yes let's do it so indeed. What a pregnant throw. You gave me everything. I needed to get started. Gareth edwards By the way. Not gareth. Evans which i thought it was very excited by one else. And words directed. Do we know nothing that i've seen. He directed it was actually kind of impressive achievement. He directed was the direct. Was like ahead of cinematography on the director of photography on a film called monsters which was apparently quite good. And then after godzilla. He directed star wars rogue one a star wars saga. Okay okay. that's that's a pretty good second. Yeah i think that rogue one was quite good now of course. I was confused. Because initially i thought it was gareth evans director of the raid movies which are arguably some of the best action movies Made of last twenty years or maybe ever also directed apostle and gangs of london. Gareth evans very good. Not the guy who directed

"Mike got noticed. Recently that the price of disney plus subscription is going up. That's right if you remember back in december. I know it seems like eons ago. Disney announced the plan to increase the monthly cost of the subscription. And i got that email a few days ago too. But the price would increase on march twenty sixth so disney plus alone will increase by one dollars going from six nine a month to seven ninety nine annual subscriptions will increase ten dollars from sixty nine nine to seventy nine nine thousand nine and if you get the disney plus hulu. With 'Raya,' Disney has their biggest animated action hero to date — and yes, she's still a princess
"Chang says the new Disney film Riot, and the last Dragon is not just for kids. He calls it a gorgeously animated fantasy adventure with a hopeful message. For this moment, the movie began streaming on Disney plus today. Ryan and the last Dragon is the lovely moving surprise. Its big selling point is that it's the first Disney animated film to feature Southeast Asian characters. Like so many movies that break ground in terms of representation, it tells a story that's actually woven from reassuringly familiar parts. Didn't mind that in the slightest. The movie directed by the Disney veteran Don Hall and the animation newcomer Carlos Lopez. Estrada brings us into a fantasy world that's been beautifully visualized and populated with engaging characters. And it builds to an emotional climax that I'm still thinking about days later. Story is a little complicated as these stories tend to be It takes place in command Ra and enchanted realm inspired by various Southeast Asian cultures and divided into five kingdoms, named after a dragon's body parts heart Thing, spine, Talyn and tail. Before they became extinct centuries ago. Dragons once roamed the land and served as friendly guardians to humanity. Their magic lives on in a Jule called the Dragon Gym, which is kept in a cave in the heart, but the other four kingdoms covet. It's mighty powers. One day all five factions come together and try to reach a peace agreement. But tensions erupt. Ah fight breaks out, and the gem shatters into five pieces that are scattered across come, Andhra. This opens the doorway to an ancient enemy called Bedroom, a terrible plague that turns people to stone. Actually, a hero must rise and save the day. Her name is Ryan. And she's a young warrior princess from heart voiced by the excellent Kelly Marie Tran from Star Wars. The last Jedi. I Ryan manages to escape the drone, though her father, her body whose leader of heart isn't so lucky. Now Ryan must recover the pieces of the Dragon Jim, reverse the damage and banished that room for good. This is the first time we've seen a brave young character embark on a quest for magical bottles. And Ryan and the last Dragon is rooted in traditional fantasy lore with the Lord of the Rings and game of Thrones being just the most obvious influences. Movies, Intense scenes of sword play and hand to hand combat. Give it a tougher, more grown up field and most Disney animated fantasies. My own young daughter had to cover her eyes a few times. Some other recent Disney princesses, including marijuana, and Elsa Ryan has a bold, adventurous streak and isn't all that interested in romance? Unlike them, she doesn't even have time to sing a song. That said the movie still has plenty of lightness and humor. Screenwriters. Quick win and Adele Limb have provided the usual Disney array of cute critters and lively supporting characters. None of them is more colorful than see Soo Ah friendly water Dragon who is magically resurrected during riots journey. She's the last of her kind, and she has a crucial role to play in the story. She's voiced delightfully by Aquafina doing one of her signature chatterbox comedy routines and selling everyone of ceases and naturalistic wisecracks. In one scene, she touches a piece of the dragon Jim and magically Lights up. Which riots sees as a hopeful sign. You were glowing. Oh, thank you. I use Alan Rivers climb. Maintain my know this'd my little sister office magic. I got that glow in your little sister's much jack. Yet. Every dragon has a unique magic. Okay, What's yours? I am a really strong swimmer. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You touch this gym piece, and it gave you powers. You know what this means? Right? I no longer need a night light. What? No, you're still connected to the jumps. Magic, not means you can still use it to save the world. If we can get all the other Jen pieces, you can reassemble it and, well, the drooling away. And bring my bar back and bring all of commander back Ryan and sees his journey takes them toe. All five kingdoms of command ra all of which are so vivid and transporting, I found myself wishing they really existed. More than I could have at least seen them on a proper movie screen. There's the town of talent, which is built at the edge of a river and the desert wasteland of tail where Ryan and See Soo must enter a cave of obstacles straight out of an Indiana Jones adventure. As the two of them search for more dragon Jim pieces. They, of course, pick up a few friends along the way. There's a street smart boy who cooks a mean shrimp Con ji and a toddler pickpocket, whom I found more creepy than cute. The movie's most intriguing character is no Mari arrival. Princess from Fang, who's voiced by Gemma Chan. As a side note. Chan and Aquafina both appeared in crazy rich Asians, which, like this movie was co written by Adele Limb. Mari and Roya used to be friends until the fight over the dragon Jim rip them apart. Now they're bitter enemies, and their emotional dynamic is fierce and complicated in ways that relationships are rarely allowed to be in Children's animated films, especially between women. Contrast, See, Sue is all feel good vibes. She's a dragon, after all, with little understanding of how treacherous humans can be. She doesn't get by riot and the Mari distrust each other so why they can't just set their differences aside and defeat the drone together. It's Caesar's sincerity and purity of heart. That makes the stories finale so unexpectedly stirring, especially now. Our fates are closely bound together. It reminds us as it builds a case for forgiveness, reconciliation and mutual sacrifice. The emotional power of riot and the last dragon sneaks up on you. Its lessons aren't knew exactly, but it makes you feel like you're learning them for the first time. Justin
Julia Alexander shares her experience with the streaming landscape
"Zander. Welcome to rico media welcome back it's been a while. Thank you so excited to be back a well. There's always a new streaming service talk about are actually maybe not. Maybe we are at the end of the new streaming service launches paramount plus is launching today Discovery plus. i think that's it for at least things he'd been promised are coming right out of all the big media companies. They're all done now. So i wanna talk to you about Both discovery and paramount plus. But let's go very very big picture streaming wars. I know we're not supposed to remorse. But they're they've been going on for a while now. All the major players that are gonna be here are here Has come and gone you. You wrote their tombstone for them The day the day it launched. I remember i asked you Do we have any big picture thoughts about everything that we've seen so far in the relative performance of everyone that isn't net flicks. The obvious winner so far in the streaming wars the word term. We're not supposed to use Is clearly a set of netflix's is clearly disney. Plus i think that speaks to two specific things one brand recognition and and kind of filling a need and in that situation disney plus provides endless entertainment for kids and it provides a safe way place for kids to be this not youtube so freaking out but what their kids are watching at a very low cost into. I think it speaks to the fact that disney can overall you know spend less on the idea of of like marketing for cost acquisition and they can just spend less on having to tell people at disney plus because within fifteen months people figured out disney and i think the big thing will see over the next few years is warnermedia in nbc universal and buy com cbs. Just to name a few are gonna have to figure out how to make peacock and it feel max and paramount plaza really resonate with consumers without reiterating over and over again. What it is. they're paying for. Yeah i mean disney. We all sort of got what it was right away. And they had the mandalorian which was a huge hit and people talked about and they had hamilton which i think didn't get enough coverage but it definitely spiked Their stuff the summer so also when they stopped giving away free trials and now they have one division This is really the most crucial question to ask you. One division or mandalorian. Where where do you come down. Oh man that's like choosing children You know there is definitely a correct answer. There is definitely a better kid in this group. I mean the answers born division. That is correct. That is correct that and by the way. I'm not a marvel fan boy. Seen most of it now just because i i have to. It's my favorite marvel thing by far. I think it'd be hard to wash if you didn't consume any marble but it's great and it's so much better than i thought it was going to be. Good for you julia. You're invited back again. You don't want to do. You wanna hedge that at all. In case you have angry mandalorian star wars people coming out. You say it's even more impressive considering that it was supposed to be the second or third marvel show to come out because it was so weird that they were worried. But i mean everyone loves it and finally we have appointment. Tv at three in the morning again. Do they explain why they're putting out new new episodes at three in the morning eastern time. They told cnn that it was the best time on a global scale is global. But it's also funny that we're talking about it with disney plus. When flexes done this for years they always drop it at midnight. Pacific time three dropped a whole new season. Yeah yeah and they are still. They're still clinging to that. Okay so let's talk about the two latest slash last entries in the streaming wars discovery plus came out. I was not very enthusiastic about it. Not from a programming. Since i just didn't think it filled a need. It looks like it's done better than people might have thought that the number fuzzy. We don't exactly know how they perform. But tell us what you think about discovery plus early on. I wrote about this week over at the verge that it is my favorite going to streaming service. It is in my apartment every single day from it. Am till six seven pm and it's because they've done two things really well. They have created background noise. In a way that i don't have to think about it once it's on it's the perfect form of ambient tv or referred. Its waiting room television. You kinda put it on. You forget it's there. You check in on snow while but the fact that i can go and choose from house interest channel or diners dives and drive in channel and just leave it and not think about it has created an ambulance so they really love during the pandemic. An i keep referring to it as it's done for adults what disney plus for kids which is. If you don't wanna watch frozen over and over again i do watch how centers over and over again have on the background And so. I think i know that they really were. They had this whole theory about like people are gonna come back to us. Good sir favorite shows in the watches over and over again. And i think part of it is like yes in the sense that i like having house centers on the background and therefore it fulfils that need but also think they really don't get enough credit for figuring out passive television allen constant scale without ads playing for me if i have the app plan and it is the greatest discovery. I've had a string lies in the last six months.
Kelly Marie Tran on Quitting Social Media and Becoming a Disney Princess
"Earlier. Today i spoke with actor. Kelly marie tran. We talked about going from star wars to portraying disney's first southeast asian princess in russia and the loss dragon. Kelly marie welcome to the daily social distancing. Show gosh here. thank you so much. The last time we spoke we were talking about the journey that you had had you know being part of star wars being the face of what many felt like was like bullying online. You know where people were like. This is part of the biggest problem that we have on social media. Since then you life seen seems to have been like really peachy before we talk about making a new disney movie. I wanna know as one of the few who's doing it. What what what is the world when there was no social media. It's made dang. I mean. Okay i will say this. I do have like a lurker account. Because i want to know what's going on about the active stand of the world right but not having to constantly be sort of publicly on. It is the best thing i've ever done for my mental health. I will say that. Yeah so you're saying that you don't wake up every day with people just telling you that they hate you. This is not a thing that you do know now. That's not a thing that i do. Well i don. I don't know what that's like. I wake up every morning. And i check and i'm like yep they still there and then i start my day now. I feel like. I'm going to use my lurker account just to be like we love you. We left me. No don't do that. Don't even do that. don't do that. I hate because then i go. At least they see me. They see me You you've had an amazing journey. I mean not being in you know. It's not just one not two not three but it's going to be like what four disney movies. You'd use like the disney darling right now. It feels like the movies ryo and the lost dragon. Tell me a little bit about the story. I mean i've watched it. But i don't wanna spoil anything for people so it is about a young girl named riot. Who is technically a prince aspen. Think what's really cool about this movie. Is that really sort of flipping the narrative on what princesses. She is actually really warrior. And she comes into the world and sort of has this really idealistic way of viewing the world and then the world breaks apart and then she starts really distrusting. Everyone the whole movie sort of is her journey on a figuring out how to find the good in the world again in figuring out how to trust people again. The whole story is about how the world was working and then everybody started believing that in order for them. To succeed of the people have to fail. And that's when the world starts falling apart and it feels like that's the world we live today. What's also cool is that you know. We live in a world where everybody who is generally not white gets put into one category with asian asian would done. But what's cool about the movie is. It's like no it tells. The story of life was like. Hey this is not a monolith. This is not homogeneous. There are asian peoples. You know. obviously this story takes place with a south asian perspective but it is still a story about like all different people coming from the asian sphere. You know there was so much research done to make sure that this specific part of the world was honored in a really authentic wave so to be able to be part of that had to be able like you said to serve china's spotlight in all these really specific things like not only. Are we talking about the specific fabrics that people from different tribes but also the type of martial arts that you're seeing depicted is specifically from this region of the world and the food and it goes on and on non so to be able to recognize how i guess how important it was too. Isn't he just made me really happy as someone who was really starved to see herself as a kid.

I'm thinking probably not our matt said. I think we're going see in season three. This kid is like conic. He has become the defacto face of star wars. You know the whole paid. So i have a feeling they have written something to figure this out and i'll be honest of you robert all. I have no idea right now what that looks like a really done but let me put it this way. I think that is a special thing. You know to to cohen to season three and have little like no idea. Why this guy. And we we know. There's some beef between some mandalorian hs and there's a big brother jerome nice pretty much. That's all we need to note. That's amazing that is absolutely amazing and it goes to show rubber berry's story to tell their story to tell so dude. I am so excited to see what happens. But i'll tell you this. There's a lot of people online on youtube social and are but what grow guests it gets killed by kylo by daddy ran now. He's not. They're not gonna do that that that that just not going to do that. No storyteller or marketeer or whoever in their right mind is going to be like yeah. You know what. We're going to kill off grogan we're going to kill off this kid and he's going to get a lightsaber to back or even was a drink over his head. I you be wednesday. I wonder my name is not going to happen. But it's a very good question. Robot very good question and you know what. I'm sure we're going to revisit a point in yet come might thank you for sending in mr larson. You legend good. Shot could shower when they do not speak emotional reunion to kind of play alongside the big emotional goodbye saying i think. I got hype..

Side can overlook the kind of horses and do reawoke looking things because the content rate so far has been really good so long may that continue our republic. And i'm glad to hear that you've got More than a saw interest in it because as we mentioned beforehand with this pick the interests of people who don't read the books comics coaching. Now that you released excited about it so but to did you have any more to add on the twenty twenty before we get to the main question now might not really not really. I'm just you know. Twenty twenty good risen reasons. My jaw gone joke on. Do you will be over to end. Then this main discussion made actually going to sneak in one of our patron questions from One of them. The tank jimmy adams who appeared on last week's roundtable session. Because i spend a perfect way to end this discussion. Jimmy asked us. He said goes what has been your favorite star wars moment of twenty twenty and this can be anything star wars related. So what a why jimmy. So much new but what a way to win. So luke for star wars moment of the entire year. you know. They're shooting pro season. Finale of the mandalorian each the lukman is everything. It's everything about the end of the mandalorian have written about that for the first time very long. Komo's a ten year old inman grandma's house watching vhs retirement agenda. I just felt like an extended light seen or lead seen from that It was it was absolutely incredible. expand on that slightly To be honest. Jimmy jimmy just waking up early in the morning to watch the mandalorian some really crazy dislike. Get my coffee machine right a lot. Ready get my like coffee mug and slightly nippy. I didn't open the windows to air out my partner. An thin kept them close. Because i know it's getting early. Watch demand on still wanted at comments. Be wallman sticking on that disney plus logo and then the army as good. It's good. I think the mandalorian really really fell.

"But there's something about season one. Which i really really like because it did feel his own thing before going into a wider world but again tomorrow precise season to south africa. Coin man my could on some good on cinema and is there anything else. That wraps up your your little cheeky. Twenty twenty star wars highlights before we before we get to the major question at the end of it. The high republic era was announced. wasn't it might project. Luminous went onto the we did a show last night. I think the beginning of the end of last year. We'll could it be riot like so many theories. Piglet this set this is the future. It's the ron johnson trilogy. Wrist shot for another time but episode. Brian yeah no high republic really coa like the way that it so a collaborative an has so many people you know figuring out wall is this and as we know now don't want to delve into it too much but you know. We know that isn't just like comics. Some books now of fuss we saw it was the beginning of the year. We thought it was as the announcement you know. We know the the acolyte leslie. Hetland series is set at the end of the republic. So i ate i. That's amazing. Because i was thinking the other day my leslie's go to be involved in this mythology then right the storytelling it's happening in these books. Comex she surely has to be quite important in so him. I really. I'm really intrigued. See where this goes and it feels like and this is the thing just gone back to the the book stuff we were talking about. It seems like for the first time in. Actually i'll be honest a time that kinda cannon really matters now more than ever and i'd go outside that the mandalorian conic confirmed that got with banff with tan these cannon things he's cannot in i mean nasa cool place to be in riot. I've been saying since day one that the stories are outlay. No one doesn't see the most top tipper the cannon is a place for them. Some way is characters stories as ships as locations out there already in books comics games. Use them demand in charlotte. You can do that about confusing people. So i'm so glad that they did that. But with when i mentioned that leslie headlines. The alkaloid was waning ease of the republic. Wow okay know. This isn't just going to be books and comex because we regardless of how excited we are for it is still there. Student could of as many people now dive into books as would watch se demand. I wore chrome os season. Seven is still going to be a smaller percentage of fans who dive into it so a not that. There's going to be a tv series which you can watch and be like. Oh this books based on this very clever but i mean look whites dive into the jet. I i kind of covered the first eight chapters on our youtube channel. Not non spoiler thoughts are really really was accelerated war. Read the only thing. I've seen which i didn't like was was on the front cover of that book greyhounds. Isn't they left charging towards the enemy and it just really really wait.

"So you know the recaps will become a sticking from the end of next year while they might I can't wait to get stuck in the other star wars content really really and i do think what john and david done is so it's so special. I'm looking forward to the future. A lot with what you said might. I'm sure not. Everything is going to be perfect and we mentioned this in mind. Sharp a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure it's something that we got in to speak about more in future. But just right now dude. I am just like rolling around in the in filth of excitement and just joy just joy matt. we've had two seasons of the mandalorian and both of them while absolutely exceptional so come on next to send my How which fiber come on are going to put you on the spot which will mutual would you go back and rewards now riot. Sing is today. I said it's really difficult like questions to answer. Because econo- can't have one without the other. I feel like season two though level of you. I think that's the so much in it. The makes me jump off the ground with excitement. I think mandalorian season one was so just important. It was for what was going to come. Remind us fall in love with characters who had never met before and the route to season to just vote sahgal ganic and and riot season two. That briar. what. I'm going to be the armored white. And the contrary and i think season one for me but his stock is flipping a coin to see which one it lands on this week because next week. I'm gonna go back and what she's into but for those who listen to the recap loss mutations thank you you know that my some of my favorite episodes were centered around the the oj. Manda some of my favorite episodes from season to with when there was less cameo more cool costs not to say i did not as precise because listen to the recaps are date but there was something about other the the unknown you got with these new characters season one will see mando grow kara grief cooil and everybody gideon everybody else. I love that group and it could have folk new and fresh and then but then they brought those into season two part coup in place and And then i make some now with the established characters. All people are cop vance to start a soaker barr and others go so they might to integrate them so seamlessly that is very tough to pick..

And and i can't i can't think of a card and again this is the slot on the show. Jenny caught new member. So that's why we will dear. We've done a rebel was remembered. We've looked back. The komo's we water resistance at pointed twenty twenty one. Yeah that sounds good. That sounds good dancer as a once. Again it's nice to see you know some more star wars. Come te anyhow once more. Failing will yeah. Yeah that's true is a good point is a good point but really. I think it just comes down to one of the craziest things to ever happen to stall wars mythology. Been convinced by this. Since almost the first episode the mandalorian it goes about saying the last two months. We've been going on about it. I don't know why. And every friday we recapped it. And i'm so glad we did man. I'm so glad we gave ourselves the time to to just like do instant reactions and do other episodes on it with with like listeners. We've done a roundtable on it now. To roundtable is up three right three actually now A had so much fun may had so much fun with the mandalorian without trying to go into too many specifics because we have so much content out that even already talking about if not listened to it what was go back in the recaps and listen to the round tables. But there's going to be more episodes coming for twenty twenty one because it's still so much that's just talking about the mandatory. No recaps say about this. There's still so much like an unjust toke about with the mandalorian season two and a gave us so much with what was such a hard year for millions of people around the world..

"There was a lot of issues about you know the story and you has to welcome drives. It was star wars and kandari lock. You know he's going to be the end. Not the end of star was but you know the film's marriage sacred backburner. Happy cause loss were received which is exciting. But i'd i'd like a lot of many of the films are dropped. Some latest jimmy. Jabber for patriot. Some moments already dig from that film when the other ones do parts of it. But it a conner left me hoping that other things that came out they c would konak not a raise those sour memories book. Jamie up little bit more. Yeah not us fern off man as far enough I think we all have obviously goes without some. We will have like different relationships with these films and in particular the episode as we know. There's a big chunk of our listeners. Adored the rise of skywalker and you know even There's there's a group of them and that's their favorite star wars film. I think roscoe dry thing that's amazing and you know mirrors Off to the prequels right like so many of the prequel films stalwarts fandom lot favorite stall was filmed in some is nice to say it really is nice to see and i do think the future cannon come in is going to address some of these issues are do think that actually if they if they do it well enough. There's a chance you could look back this trilogy and go. Actually that works. It didn't necessarily what the first round but that was. But all in all my i. I do like sticking on. That's the thing on a more likely sustained rosa skywalker right now than attack of the clones or solo. Yeah that's where half the fun is for me. It's not perfect. i'm not. I'm not trying to argue. That is but. I'm glad that we go to. I'm glad the it came out before. All of this real world craziness in over this huge collation of death steak so whatever it is that stopping the wild zone angled Roy and as you said is to memories ikea along with that. Look just because we didn't find film as good as we'd hoped if so many people date and that's the beauty of how we run this show. Was we die judgement to italy. Which is great. We welcome everybody in that enough. It do part of gangsta was always respectful. And that's exactly what we want to be because we know a lot of people who really dig that food but you say they the speculation episodes before running roy square then actually getting the sit down kobean essex to watch it and the food out for maitland. Our shoes and listen to if one is is still so far the experience student. Did i star wars. So aki start with isn't perfect and never nothing. Puffy there's always something to One about two or to praise at the same time so the will could just fed on a different socks us but Oak of canon. It was a run through some of the cannon things see in two twenty twenty that a few books chateau four came out The second part the alphabet scorcher in tunji from alexander freed already log book. Anyway it's my favorite place in the world are light. I think when it's rainy. Dark and wintry and star wars. His at than stalwarts has become so synonymous with this slight time of the year. And i think that's such a cool failing but really when when we talk about twenty twenty because about twenty nine really directly crimea. Very quickly so i did make my twenty twenty easily started look damage. Eight yet. Saw in a saw ian. I think that was it when it relate but it easy in the blue dress all july stormtroopers and five. Oh i people so that was nice windows here. But yeh no i in twenty twenty. It was kind of like a yoenis for me. It was a love hate relationship with this film because always kala reconciler my thoughts of trying to figure out where it sat my my life. Rankings at the film you because you're ranking episode in the spring early spring and i was just continuously trying to figure out. Where does this set you know. Has it done damage. And has it improved sauger overall. And i'm still kind of figuring that out with some bits anyway but i've kind of come to tons of the rise of skywalker up. One thing is for sure is is. It's gone to be reminded by me anyways. Remember this like that lost. All was film appropriately. The lost big blockbuster before the world changed forever let that sink in. That's bad could be the last billion dollar film. We ever see the theater. You could could very well be Ross signed my i i. I watched about three weeks ago. And our every time i'm going to hop on are really really want to like every time i see it and i really love some moments and it to be honest. I mainly only watch it to watch in. Mcdermott is poverty. And even though he's inclusion ruins film but. I love watching in as palpitations watching that again. I don't hate the film. It's just such a disappointment and it's just left everybody within of accounting books comics tv series con tra scratching ahead. Like what do we do now. Do we touch upon these things. How do we improve. Can we improve. Would we do so. It was kind of slept. Luke assume conundrum as well. I think in terms of how they approach that era and about when ally think off with it came out with the preceding. I think it did represent a slump for the french choice. Oc fighter himself the green cross code man and everything else that he using so we had to talk about the sad passing of dave prowse. But that's where we're going gonna mentioned with all of these. What a legacy to leave behind and the fans will never forget dave absolutely. He's the physicality behind vita without dave. There isn't there. Isn't darth vader so arrest in pay stipe rowson. The same goes with Unfortunately jeremy bill recently passed away And again that was a hard one know the original boba fett boba fett brings that physical presence to what was what really gave birth to the mandalorian. You know what we are seeing right now. The success with sing right now is because of that iconic armagh by who served the actions behind that on the cowboy ish nodes motions united side resting pace jeremy bullock absolutely an even sadder when you realize obviously that bopha himself was having such a renaissance. This Vanessa Marshall Voice of Harrison Dula from Star Wars rebels and you're listening to star wars sessions probably Britain's greatest star wars podcast. As looking boy set up shop star wars season, we get into the final third of the year we'll about star wars nothing but star wars. So that's exactly what we're talking about tonight obviously Star Wars Bob Scorcher in star wars scorching is from EA, drops only a few days ago now less than a week ago look and myself we rushed out and picked up a copy I think quin physical I went digital. And we wanted to pass it to give our I thought. You know the game, pry them different modes in before the game came out we were pre. Open about saying that you know is it is what it is. We'll play. We'll see how it goes. We're not major maybe that accelerated for all as we have pain for previous releases. So did the game try and joined by praying For you this on Friday. When dropped Yati ran out in the rain to get it didn't. I did it was a rainy Friday lunchtime you? Nick tat the flat and I went to the town centre and I tell you one thing my I'm going to go from one. Here we go. Riot are went to go to the game as in like the shop. which is basically it's a video game shop. In America there's a franchise that's is game stop. And go there in the town centre flipping closed in. Worn. Off Dad NECE. What on earth is this madness they got lou sinus hanging on the floor not even on the window sang with move to sports direct, which is a huge. Sport Shop Light Solo in goods, Aaron sporting goods, and that they've moved in there. So let's go to the other end of the town going Meh. Couldn't even find. Unfair a had to our. Naive is outrageous and it is unfair. I should have actually episode to law at. Anakin, Skywalker to all of them. The women and the children. Not just. Stack is to. Yes. You spoiled star man trying to. Train UH. No so I vent, anyway I eventually found it. It's tucked in the corner of this building. Honestly I have no clue WanNa have moved in there. And I'll tell you what my I didn't pick it up from that. Who is like five quit more expensive more. In as STA, and I want to support a video game place like game I love game but. I TWAS my you know, of course, scifis coppers five quid you know I mean that's attack I bel-. You're right. So I went to starr picked up squadrons come I'm installed it. What's in the afternoon golf work played it. So I have I've tried to play as much as possible of this game. A haven't completed at I've not mastered it. By played off played the. The quick. The dogfight played the other online guy mode. And I've played I think I'm just adjust under hoffy through the mind store. What about you may? Same. Apart, from my finish, the story today I played on set on, picked it up digitally on Friday because I was GONNA go out but as I do you know what? Could just download it now and then bought a tell him. All the kids are asleep and I'm ready to chill out with a cup of tea. Can they you download and ready to go Size me petrol process bit lazy. So I downloaded it ready. So I played for a good. Friday evening. and. Then a couple of hours on. About. An hour Saturday morning. And then I just. A couple of afternoons so. I wanted to try and get as much. Done. As possible because I anticipate, it wasn't going to be very long. Unlock. The power from to campaign was wasn't that long either. So I manage to blaze through the story and for those wondering there's going to be any spoilers we're going to give away what happens in the store, your any specific points that so up if you haven't played, it haven't picked it up your having completed it but I've played the online mode as well. so I managed to call a tap tap the in everything. So there's no point coming on to speak to blow rain himself, Burlington squadron leader, and not having played all aspects of the game. So often motto in plenty now. So well, I wanNA know though might is top from what you've played and what you've seen way of thoughts on the game then economic top level thoughts on squadrons. Well, what will site is also for audience Manno have not spoken about this this year literally the first time we've spoken about this and people have asked US online for our opinions on it, and we've not shared it with not shed our opinions because we want excited for this podcast. So we are bouncing off each other out. Of Nowhere Luke thinks about this. Yeah we have no idea now. All she question again might. Just asking what I thought about it essay because I spoke, Saturday the Cup Luke is GonNa for Scans Slash Scones, but we never once mentioned squadrons. So yeah, what was your? Thinking naive played the game we think about. Okay. All right. So overall overall with a bear in mind. This is this is quite an affordable game. This is lock four equipped game. Equate. Yes. Sorry. Thank you. quit the. quit game. At forty dollars lesser is a four dollar game in America. So it's cheaper than a lot of other games out there. and. I think that that is a very fair value of what they've given us. Because I think what we've got is an absolutely exceptional flight simulation game. That is a star wars game. I think the campaign is is is okay. But I will say that this isn't going to be for everyone. And I know matinee just from lot how we're GONNA lie do this mind section right? We all we're doing this law bit by bit. So we're going to talk about game play story mode and light a few other things. And I'm going to go into those but just ballpark Miami boy were you thinking pretty much the same as you may the priced, I wouldn't want to pay more than thirty pound for this game because yes, it's a good game. Is a good game. In the there's lots to talk about it. There are things about which to know well. As we go through any of nitpicks, cons will come out naturally then but. Up. Top is perfectly playable is decent flight simulator. It looks wonderful but if I had to shout fifty to sixty pounds for it. I might be being a slightly more harsh on it than I am now or potentially going to bleep. Up talked. About having a taste and time praying I'm having a good time planet. You mentioned the game prey. Then that was one of the things which what the the videos that came on Youtube beforehand dropped the play in that of. How you can do this this and this how A lot going to manage to do this. But. I've had a son could few hours now the game play what are you thinking about our body? The game play is It's hard. It's not easy. You don't just stick to.
