"The Las Vegas golden knights took a commanding three games to none lead in the Western Conference final with a four zero win over the Dallas stars. Golden knights scored three goals in the first 7 minutes to take control. It never looked back. Las Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy says the fast start set the tone for the game. We finished plays, right? So Ivan barbershop led the golden knights with a goal and two assists, Jonathan Marshall, Alex Petro Angelo, and William kario also scored for Vegas. Aiden hill made 34 saves for the shutout. I think tonight we played very well. It's obviously a matchup that we circle at the beginning of the year with everything that happened last year, and for us now going on the road that was a huge game for us to kind of start and get more into going the right way. Looks like we might see a directionless open in Asian trading today, not all that much to sink your teeth into. We did have a stalling out of the rally in global equities in the New York session. Part of that was due to gains in kudo prices and also rising bond yields, the yield on the ten year up to three point, well, effectively 3.20%. So that was a pretty big jump around 7 basis points there. And oil prices up over a $110 and 11 cents a barrel. Although, to be honest, it wasn't really that so much it was driving the action last week, it seemed like a rebound from some of the really aggressive selling we saw that a couple of weeks before. And we also had that drop in inflation expectations on Friday and you'll remember that Jay Powell used the rise in inflation expectations earlier to justify raising interest rates for 75 basis points. So we had the big rally on Friday 3% up for the S&P 500 and it just looks like today was a little consolidation of that giving back just a little, the S&P 500 down just three tenths of 1%. So how does Asia look setting up? And sing index futures are down about 8 tenths of a percent big gains yesterday 2.4% or more consolidation perhaps there. The hang seng tech index was up 4.7%. I ran the numbers. Listen, this index is up 46% from the lows in March, 46%. So if you're wondering if you can get back into a bull market for shares elsewhere, I think you have to say that's a wild bull market for China tech shares. A lot of this has been driven by the rebound in the economy, the lessening of some of the regulation from policymakers and also liquidity injections by the PBOC. That gives you a flavor of it. There's a chance that we are already in a recession. Is it severe? Is it drawn out? The shallow recession for safe deep one. There's nothing inevitable about a recession. But no one can deny at this point that the economy will slow. Well, I expect the economy to slow. Oh, it's been growing at a very rapid rate. It's natural now that we expect to transition to steady and stable growth. And the markets could continue to fall, at least for a while. We've done a lot of price damage, right? We want to be investing into the price damage, but we think it's premature if the risk of recession is still increasing. But however bad it gets, and however long it lasts, things will come back, raising the question, what have we learned from the experience, both in the policies we adopt by most important advice to the administration's don't do anything to shock the economy. "I know. Maybe he is an awful person. I don't again, I only know what 6-hour time and he was so professional was so stand-up was respectful. Connors yelling at him. Talking smack saying between a coffin and he's still like composed. He literally said, you know, I hope Connor gets home safe to his family tonight. Yeah. After beating his ass like, I was, am I wrong? Like Dustin Poirier, seems like a really standup unique human being Dustin. Poirier is an incredible human being, okay. I would I would talk about it for hours. So on the show that that I'm part of on cage, pod, YouTube, we did a brake part one of several parts, we don't know. Exactly Parts is going to be a, we did a documentary on Dustin Poirier and what we've learned and we've talked to people who have fought him talk to people who have beat him. We've talked to age. He has beat the consensus. A hundred percent is that there are 0 to few people in the fight game. Especially but also just about in the world who are as genuine as humble, as sweet as awesome as caring as Dustin's. Yeah, he's a remarkable project. You see, the quote where he said, I don't even care about this. He was going to interview and he's like, I don't, I don't want to do interviews. I'm here to fight like fighting like scrapping. He he likes to fight. He's very, very good at it off. And then, you know, in the middle of this of this interview, you're referring to after, after the fight had been called when Connors yelling at him saying deplorable, things about his wife to him in the Octagon. Dust and is sure to mention that, he's raising money to build houses for kids in Uganda. Like, it's, he's above it. He's an incredible person. He's an awesome guy, dead. If he was in, if he was a not good fighter, I'd say the exact same things. He just happens to be, he's an awesome dude. Who happens to be a death machine. Yeah. In the octagon and that's what makes them fun to watch. But what makes them, especially Fun Pack support and to root for? Is how good of a dude? Dustin is? I was like a person who happens to fight, he's rather in a fight, he's a really great person who happens to fight and that's that's been what has allowed him to get his message out there. His word out to make him some money for his family. He's an awesome dude. There's no one that we've come across that has interacted with us and who has anything bad to say about him. "Way that he does stuff, the way he carries himself, but there's guys like that who've never met the traditional stat-sheet stuffers who and fun a team and do really, really well and find their Lane. And we're so early in the offseason. We don't know who's going to end up finding that type of guy. But I think for the Islanders game, The and the hurricanes have a chance to beat teams like that, who if they get the right guy, a couple of guys and they fit and they mess just write. This is a team that I think are, those are teams that I think can make some noise. I mean, the Islanders especially, I mean they played they put a tough Series against Tampa and they're a great team mate. They're they're about as ready. Everybody's close to being ready as it gets. I think my next question and the the final one really is is there anything else like any storylines this offseason hockey that are like where does this play or go? Just got retired. Is there any looming questions? We have that we're going to get answers to like for example, the NBA Ben Simmons is not going to stay in Philadelphia, I can get to see where it goes. Is there anything like that in the NHL? We're like this is something we're going to find out and learn this offseason. It's going to be exciting to find out without preparing for it. I think would be the draft because this is one of the few drafts where there isn't life. There's not one guy. There have been a lot of these drafts in the NHL recently. We're going back to make David McDavid Matthews. These are the consensus guys. That guy doesn't really exist off. Here and because of, you know, in basketball early pics to treat right away and hockey are usually going either back to the, the University of the junior team that you play with the previous year. He just in there playing the blind writes, write down the rights, but you're unless you're very talented and they're going to be a couple of guys to see who probably do. What's closer to baseball. Sounds like we're supposed to get your right. It's more than likely, you're going to play a couple of years in the minors, or in your other organization, you are for the team. Yeah. But I'm going to be curious how this draft goes because there again is not like, you know, one super duper consensus dry. So there could be all kinds of fireworks. It seems trading out of the first things traded down. Teams trading back up. They really love a guy off. The draft would be fun and the Seattle. Kraken will join the NHL. They got the coolest. That's my I love that logo the logo. I'm going to I'm going to come and watch a game with you. It's my publicly that's my plan. I want to suck. Let's do it. Let's get let's, let's film it. Let's get press stuff. Let's do whatever. We can know. That's that's outside of the draft. That's the fun one there..

"Kerry Price is halfway through. Now at age, thirty-three just turned thirty-three like last month at his current state. He's only halfway through making 10 and 1/2 million dollars a year off. Good for him, he's got what he's got the bag but also you can't fire a guy after they take you to the Stanley Cup finals. I mean it's just horrible Optics know it's just but it's tough especially now because with covid-19 up with what that's done for League salary cap. We don't know what that's going to be. He's got a, a full no-movement Clause through him being thirty-eight years old making 10 and 1/2 million dollars a year, which is a substantial number, but some point to pull them down, it may not be now, but, I mean, it might be now like, and that's and it's tough to say that off of them during the Stanley Cup. Like, it's weird. Sounds weird. To say, I understand that well, he might next year though. But at some point, you're going to need some more guys. Really this roster is not enough and when he's making 15% of your Jeep hit. It's problematic. Yeah, it's an albatross of a contract I think. I think we could very likely see it only get worse and again 38 years old is what they're paying him. You compared to juice, press got the Cowboys quarterback in the NFL, has the guy who's very good, but you still need to get him help. And I would argue these massively overpaid. It's, it's a guy who despite his value clearly, he's obviously, if you overpay a really good player, you can't give them help. Therefore, you can't win as much. I mean, you do still crippled your team, even if he's a good player. Yeah they've sent a couple of bad contracts. They they they took on Montreal, Shea Weber's is one of their defenseman, one of their benefits when he's he's I think Petrie's our best defenseman but he's a good player and he's on a he's making almost eight million dollars in his cap hit. He's 36 right now. Oh boy, they're paying him. Almost eight million jobs. Like in fairness, they, they went on a run like, I guess if you're the GM or like, well we risked it for the biscuit, we didn't win at all. But you feel kind of good to like hey you can justify it by saying we went on a run, right? Yeah for sure and Iraq. Now you on the consequently those consequences that you're not paying between price and Weber, you're paying two guys who are see them out of your salary. They said they're those two guys alone are making over a quarter, the salary cap off and they're 33 and 36. When so Shea Weber he actually signed this is another conversation about cap, he signed a 14 year 100,000 Ten million dollar deal with Nashville. This was back before they were caps on term and teams did this because they thought, if they, if they signed such a big contract, just kept hitting, the NHL is wage is, you know, the number divided by the years. It's really easy. It's that's your cap. And it's 210 / 14 that 7.8 and change. That's your yearly, cap hit. So teams are thinking, okay? What if we just signed Guys, these wage is ludicrous deals that they're going to retire before they get to the end of. So we can bring our yearly cap hit down. And the player says wait up. So making a ton of money. Sounds good and I'm doing a fun game and so it sounds good like you can sign me. Send me for 30 years, find whatever bring number down. It only helps the team if we do that. Yeah, so like when you use you pay them less money in the short-term to extend it out like crazy idea in the middle of Bobby Bonilla. Yeah, exactly..

He's played for the Americans and the Canadians have been his like, it's only two exposures. I mean, I'm sure he played in the minds of some point, but his only like his most. Recent two teams have been the Americans and like a weird Lady. It's so weird thing. Yeah, I'm surprised factoid, but yeah, no. So the haves is just a shortening of their lay hobbiton name. They are inhabitants there, the Montreal Canadiens, I don't know. You might have to talk to somebody who's more up on French off. Okay. Back history chemical history. But yeah, exactly. Yeah, I'm sorry, there's going to be like three quebecois folks who are having a hard time, understanding English, word, upset at our bastardization of Thirteen name, so I'm sorry. But yeah, that's the hubs are it's shortening of their French. Nickname is kind of the deal. What's next for the Montreal Canadiens moving forward. Now, they're in a weird spot because you could argue that they carry prices 33. He's thirty-three which, which not as great series goalies. Age weird like goalies. They're not moving around. Quite the same as their needs a little different. It's neat catcher. And it's nice. It's hips and Carries had his his share of of injuries and that kind of mid body region. It's tough for a goalie goalies. Usually don't get really, really great until they're like mid-to-late twenties. Vasilevsky mind that it's really hard to learn gold town at the NHL level when you're when you're young like it's silver else to practice other than doing. It's just a really hard thing to learn. It's just it's really hard to be good at that because so much of it is technique and it's less reliant on. I don't want to say it's less reliant on athleticism cuz they're very elite athletes and their their specific opening, their specific type of athleticism has to be honed in a different way. Like a basketball player, who can jump as high as the 24? Yeah, it's it's there's a lot of really technical skills. A lot of really hard specific movements, and and knowledge that you have to kind of gain. And there are some wage Apple's vasilevsky being one. He's still super young. I mean, he's in his early mid-twenties. He's twenty-six something. I mean, so he's he has and he's been great for a long time. Will Tampa like the conversation about Tampa is very short because you say, Well they're going to come back. I mean they they are in the conversation for a Stanley Cup Final again next year. Yeah, like they're they're really good. Dogs are young. They got a ton of talent, they figure their cap situation. But if you're a Tampa, like I would think we would expect you would agree. It's very short conversation like they're going to be back next year. Yeah they're going to run it back and took some decisions to make. I mean, short of just throwing, you know, someone else on on ltir can I suppose and let's just want to run that back but then they win they won without ltir like they with Fascination and kucherov and without the role players they signed to replace couch or yeah. "Know it's 3-1 if we steal one if we still got five it's 3 to then all we got to do is win at home and then it's one game. Anything can happen. I've totally been there as a sports fan. You don't want to be three three going into games. They don't want to give them. You don't ever want to leave the door open, and I know that am not actively saying to themselves, let's lose this game starts at home, but I feel like there's an element of human nature. It's like when it's, you know, it's like when it's 42 10 in the fourth quarter of a football game and it's you know the garbage Time stuff happens, I think there's some bit of human nature. That makes it really hard to be 110% on the gas when you're up 3-0 in a series even if it's the Stanley Cup Final, I think there's just like an element of human nature to that. If I remember correctly thought Tampa, tied it up to send it to overtime in game four. Is that accurate what? Cuz there was a score late in that game, the 3rd. It was either Tampa or Montreal. I can't remember I'm blanking now but I remember going, oh, I guess, we're going over time, there's a late, late goal, the tie the game. Yeah, Pat maroon big rig, he ties it late in the third. So Tampa was trying to win that. Yeah, they weren't honey. Badgering at all. Yes, yes. Oh, Montreal, like, we're the first ones to score each tiebreak of that game. They stored. First, they stored third goal and they stored the fifth goal. So it was always Tampa responding. Yeah. It's not like Tampa's stored first and then let Montreal just keep walking. Yeah, there's a bit of a slip by Montreal. Late in the first and there's nothing for a long time and then and then Tampa Ties. It late in the second. We play half of the third, Montreal scores and then pat room stores. Five minutes later so long Tampa was responding. It wasn't like, you know this word first, let's just pack it in..

"With no salary cap, and it's not the NBA with the soft cap and and exceptions and whatnot, penalties, you get you get to where you get home yet. So much, there's so much we all get Done. Yeah, and Nikita. Kucherov being a great player has a pretty substantial cap. Hit it makes a lot of money deservingly so he goes on long-term injured reserve because of this hip procedures that he had to have done is so awful early before. The year early in the year is before the year. I believe I would think so too. But they were time they they sign someone else, right? They were able to yeah, they were able to fill out their roster with they did, you know, they'd bring in Superstars but they're able to fill out their roster. You know, with other contributing players using the money that they were saving from culture of being on long-term injured reserve. And the reason that most teams aren't able to do this, is because most teams don't have the talent to be able to play the entirety of the regular season without their best skater. You cuz imagine I guess where you're going with it is that? Yeah, you know, they left on the long-term Reserve probably longer than they needed to because they know we just slot him there and wait to bring him back till later when it won't matter financially. Exactly. Yep. They, they were like, we're going to make the playoffs. Anyway, let's hide him there and you know, we can then you probably found it. Yeah, that that's the Crux of this. Is that compost season salary, cap goes out the window. You don't have to adhere to any more. And the way they do it is because you, when you go into the playoffs, you have to have a certain. There's certain guys that you have to put in you, you have to submit your roster. This is my postseason roster. You can't add or subtract from free agency and the trade deadlines passed. So, if theoretically come postseason time can't make any more trades, your cap compliant and you can't add players. Why would the salary cap matter?.

We want the cup, but it was Tampa Bay that came out flying. Not only scored first, but twice in the 1st 3.5 minutes of the 1st and 2nd periods, which was just too much to overcome for the haves and, uh, not only haven't a Canadian scored first yet in this series, but they're yet to get a lead, which is by far when they are at their best 26 giveaways in Game three by the haves after just five in each of the first two games, Hartley the recipe for success. First time in 12 tries this postseason. Montreal has scored at least two goals in a game and lost and now it feels like months ago when the Canadians won seven straight and scored first and each of those to get here much all did get back in the game two with a big first goal of the playoffs by Phillip Danault in the opening period to make it 2 to 1, Tampa and then it was only 1 40 into the second period when the Canadians made one of their too many bad mistakes. May have cost them the game and really the series. Gallagher feeds it.
Tampa Mayor Suggests Lightning Forgo Sweep to Clinch Stanley Cup at Home
"One person I think in the world of any sports franchise that no matter what no matter when they open their mouths automatically produces an L. Mayors of any city getting involved in sports debate. We have seen so much of this pop up over the years that we've got actually enough examples to prove that to you because we're in the middle of the Stanley Cup final right now. And for some reason, the mayor of Tampa Suggested that the lightning we're up right now in this series lose in Montreal so they can win the Stanley Cup at home. Here was Jane Castor, the mayor of Tampa, suggesting just that. Here's what we would like, but we would like is for the Lightning. To take it a little bit easy to give the Canadians just the smallest break, allow them to win when at home and then bring it back to the Emily Arena for the final and the winning of the Stanley Cup, But we don't want to get ahead of ourselves. But they are playing some amazing amazing hockey Now, Jason I'm not a big golf gods guy are attempting the sports God guy, but at some point to science not go too far. I love when she said We don't want to get too ahead of ourselves. You did that when you suggested you throw a game when you're up three. Nothing in the cop like and

"32 Montreal just because I think Wow, I do. I do I and and the reason why I say that is is just I think that they're going to just go out there and they got to play for more than they've ever given. And they got to play for and then And then you I would assume they're going with the ASCII tonight, but I don't know for sure. Who was the last goalie on the ice this morning. Do we know? Does anybody think I don't know? You know, I assume they're going with algae tonight. But, I mean, you know, if I guess if there's going to be a came to get the other guy and this is the one, but I don't think I don't want to shake him out of a rhythm. You've got to keep them in there. No, the I agree. I agree. I agree. But I do think the lightning are going to win the series. I do. I do think Montreal is going to dig. Dig Dig deep tonight, but I'm gonna tell you just like if the Lightning get up early. Forget about Yeah, they're going to step on your throat and your at the library period. PT. Thanks for joining the show. Man. Always appreciate him and got to have you back again soon. Take care safe travels. Love you, man. But yeah, Chicago pp. Larios, Man, that is that is a guy. I'll We know what I say, like, Damn, I should do sports for fault if he and I did a sports show together. Forget about it, man. I know. I know We've we've been propping. Here's your sports talk skill a lot lately, but seriously, you two should get something together. We should We wouldn't be able to shut up. We'd have to have no commercials. Just just tell Pete with the stories and just he would have people calling. He's great. He's one of my best friends. I've known Pete God's going on 30 years turncoat going against the Lightning man. Santa Montreal. Montreal is playing. Yeah, their season is on the line tonight, you know, and they don't get paid by the game in the playoffs, and you know they're getting their pool. Whatever it is. But, um You know, it's rare, you said. What was it The last time 1998 since Ed team swept another team in the Final four game second, it's not. It's not commonplace. Yes, good. When we were looking at those statistics. I also saw how many times has there been a recovery from a 30 to win the series? Know what once 1949 Toronto Maple Leafs did it in the Stanley Cup final? Now in the, um In the semifinals and the conference finals. It's happened a couple times The Islanders did it against the Penguins in 1970 76. Philadelphia Flyers, I want to say Did it, um, Private 8 10 years ago or soft, but no Stanley Cup final where they're up against a police are the only time it's not going to happen. There's no the only way that the Canadians, Cohen and like, Look, you never say Never. I mean, the rest came down from three against the Yankees. Different sports different time. And won the series four games to three. It could happen. I mean, like Pete mentioned Kucherov and his ribs If somebody gets to his ribs, and he can't breathe, uh, take him off the ice. The lightning or one lesson at Stamkos gets injured. I mean, you don't want to put bad voodoo on anyone Don't do it things or some happens to Vasi. It's a completely different team, a completely different series. I still think the lightning or more talented, but You know anything could happen. And you're we're talking professional athletes. This isn't like barely cocky, but I plan to where you know you get lucky one game. I mean, these are guys who get paid millions of dollars in train all year for this so I'm thinking of good vibes. I'm leaning lightning tonight. I don't have I told Corey on a couple times play. I don't have a feel and I don't have a feel for this game right now. So Uh, happy how we doing on time before our next? Yes, ones are next. That's 4. 34. 30. Should we take a break? Definitely break. Cool. We're gonna take a break, Thanks to Pete for joining in talking to lightning hockey. We've been talking a lot of it today. It's a big day here between lightning and also really, uh That's the focus for right now. Uh, we're here with you till six. It's the micro radio show and for drug rob alive today one of 2.5 the bone. Huge Game three Tampa Bay Taking the opener 5 to 1 and then Game two by a score of 3 to 1, Despite being out shot 43 23 by the Canadians, and remember 90% of the clubs that lead to win the final. Go on to hoist the Stanley Cup. One big positive for the home team tonight. My treat. Killed off all three Tampa Bay power plays in Game two, which is a story in itself, while the haves best goal scoring threat 20 year old cold Caufield was surprisingly not on the ice during their four on three opportunity on Wednesday night and never did get on the scoresheet. But he was happy with his guys play overall. I think we did a lot of good things. Obviously, some bounces didn't go our way. But you know, that's hockey. You got to move on and do with it. I think you know my energy is focused on games to be right now and get that win. But we did a lot of good things kind of turned it around from Game one, and we're pretty happy with that. But you know, we just have to stick with with what works. And what God, is he yourself? That's kind of focus right now. What about the disappointment of still getting to play in front of only 3500 fans tonight? Coal? It will be really exciting for sure. Obviously, wish you could have more people, but, uh certain situations going on will still be loud and Proud to be in there, so we're really excited to get back home and plan from our fans. And I know outside. It will be pretty excited, too. So, um, yeah, We're just looking forward to Game three and have a fans in the building. Lightning's Alex Killorn Ruled Out of Game 3 of Stanley Cup Final

"Putting tournament birdie. That was great. No the birdies expected. And honestly when you want. The quality of the field will improve now at has. Because there's fedex cup points for the following year so that's helped but the best players are like. I'm not going a putting tournament. It bring you want the tournament have a little bite to it. Make these guys work. I you know so. Maybe the rocket mortgage. It's young in their history. they go. We don't want to be one of these tournaments. It's twenty four under par grow the rough but what's wrong with the winning score twelve thirteen in but but there's some trouble out there for these guys now. It's an excellent point. Definitely something to consider here for this week's tournament again. I think it is important to kind of read. What the players say about these courses as they're going through their practice rounds and all of that and i'm sure the nascar drivers will have a lot to say about road. America here up in wisconsin. That's this weekend's jockey. Made in america to fifty on the four and a half mile road. Course are four point. Oh four eight miles something like that whatever. It is up there in wisconsin. But this is a road course race. It's really interesting. We won't dive too deep into this one because then brian hasn't really had a chance to look at it. And i just kind of looked at it here this morning but this is the first cup series race or at least the top nascar level race since nineteen fifty six at road america. Only the second one time. But what's interesting about this weekend. Is that the xfinity. Series has been going there every year since two thousand and ten. Some of the younger drivers like a christopher bell at forty two one austin syndrich at forty two one who won last year at road america tyler. Rettig has a couple of top five zero. He's sixty six to one. Maybe this week you find some price. Plays out there in the cup. Series is expanding running here. Yes i would say. I don i do not see the numbers up yet for it. Unless you've got something but in the expenditure race. Keep an eye on the gibson because he's figuring this out and he's already won a road course event this year so in the expenditure i'd be taken a peak at tie. Gibbs syndrich always takes all the money as for the cup series clearly you look at elliot larson's on a tutsi roll the one guy who's very good and maybe motivated after the scary accident on the in the rain on the road. Courses don't sleep on true x. On road courses so he looks like he's what plus four fifty. I'd probably lean true exits way but elliott's a monster on road courses. Yeah i mean. That's the thing i'm gonna take some shots here and play. Christopher bell forty-one. Kurt busch at forty two one. He ran well at cinema and the most recent road course race. I'll take a piece of syndrome. Forty two one something small and radic probably and that'll be it and chase elliott probably wins it plus two fifty. Or maybe kyle larson windsor. Plus three fifty so it may all be for naught. But you know. I'm going to take some longshots here of the xfinity series guys that have run here or at least somewhat experience with the course i mean look. It's over four miles long. They're fourteen turns on this thing. Yeah it's a car race at its core in all of these guys are world-class drivers and even the guys who haven't run here. We'll figure it out. But still i'll take some shots at the guy that at least know their way around the course a little bit. Yeah the rokos events match. Ups group matchups other ways to play it because Gimme the talladega superspeedway. Some real prices or play. Brian blessing the host of sports. For radio and vegas hockey hotline. Talking about a lot of good stuff here on today's show and you talk a lot of good stuff on your to shows all the time. Big sportsbook radio series two. Oh four sports radio network. "He's like top five in NHL history in career playoff points per game, so we'll see if like the combination of Alex Potro, Angelo and Mark are injury flurry and, of course, We could turn back to Robin letter They didn't need to in the first round, but they certainly could if they need to in the second round, and he gives them just as good of a chance to win. So I think they're gonna be a lot of ebbs and flows in this series. And I think it could be one of those syriza that we look back at. As you know, maybe something that took the league to a new level in terms of ratings in the playoffs for a non Stanley Cup final match up, it really could be that good has not set the field. So I want to get your thoughts before we move on to the I think Carolina Tampa is another really interesting serious before we do that. I wanted to get your thoughts on the Florida Panthers because I think that was a team with some expectations that they would put up maybe a tougher fight against Tampa. Now, I mean, obviously getting Kucherov back for the playoff run. He's one of the best players in the NHL. That's just a tough draw for Florida. Considering you're not playing the team that everyone else got to play in the regular season. But having said that the Sergei Bobrovsky situation Pete is maybe one that it's hard to quite put into words. How difficult of a spot his contract may put that organization considering you know, I just think that they've got the forward group. They've got the group on the defense and if Sergei Bobrovsky is playing at his at his ceiling That's a team that you could sell me on. That could potentially be a Stanley Cup contender. But the fact of the matter is is Bobrovsky. It just has not just so it spent a move that has not worked out and listen at the end of day. If you would've told me if you go after me at the time, they signed the contract at 30 years old, if paying him all that money. Was that the real smart move? I would've told you no way, but that was a team that was looking to make a move. They made it. And I think if you're gonna look back now, you're It's hard to make the argument that paying goaltenders top of market ever really works out for anybody. I mean, Ben Bishop you like you just got you know, you start to make these moves, looking backwards, and almost all of them haven't worked out well for the team that has done it. So where are you? And how much are you concerned about this Sergei Bobrovsky contract potentially holding back the Panthers. From from maybe finding their potential is a team that really should be a deep playoff contender. Well, I think it could hold them back past next season. No doubt. I mean, I think the big question for Florida is like what's gonna happen with Alexander Barkov and when you have there You know their two best players right now. Next to you. Let's say next season, they're going to get Aaron Ekblad back. Who's an elite defenseman? They have Spencer Night. Who's You know a goalie? Prodigy already got thrown into the fire and looked great in the playoffs and the regular season. So he's gonna like, be at the very least, that one b two bobrovsky, he might even be the starter as early as next year. So those are all good things. But you see the type of money that whoever does making right now 5.9% season and also the same for Barca, but Markov's contracts Expires. US face status after next even and then hoovered ou FH status after the following season. So all of a sudden they had a big, you know. Season this year, coming past their expectations. And then you know, still being a young team with an upward trajectory. But now you're looking at the next two seasons they're gonna have You know tremendous pressure on this team, so Yeah, You think that as the time goes on the Bob contract could hurt them even more, And it's It's tough for that team because they're just they were trying to find relevance. For years. They haven't won a playoff seriously. In 1996, and they nearly did this year they played. They were the better team of five on five in the series. I would say you know, outside the game number six where they got, you know, blowing out a little bit, but definitely that he has something special brewing. I love some of their sneaky acquisitions like over the past year, like Carter, her Hagee and Sam Bennett and Patrick Horn quest like they honestly, the Panthers might have beaten any other team in the league in the first round this year outside of Tampa and Colorado. I really believe that so it was a really tough draw for them. Having explode in that series, like, say if the teams were to meet again next year. Tampon Florida the deck plate healthy that Syria's might go the other way, But yeah, it was. It was a tough draw to play Campo with their big five healthy Tampa might be stronger this season and they were last year when they won the cup make, so that's what we're looking at here with these Florida teams. The expectations and the performance is extremely high. These days. I think outside of and we'll end up seeing, you know Pete, who ends up winning that Toronto, Montreal, Syria's It's probably looking like Toronto, and I think Toronto Winnipeg will be a real treat for folks. But I I find it hard to ignore the potential excitement level of a Carolina Tampa series. Um, I think you know, Ultimately, Carolina's maybe one of the most under talked about one seeds. Um, I think they're a really great They're a great team. They're well coached. They've got young superstars. How excited are you to watch that series? Play out? And if you're asking me or if you're if I were to ask you what series you thought would go seven games out of the ones that we're going to see here in the second round is this may be the one that that maybe has that has that potential. I mean, I do. I am taking Colorado over Vegas and seven and I'm sticking with Carolina over Tampa, but it's gonna be really nice. I think that Carolina is a Better, vory better, more experienced, even better puck possession version of the Florida Panthers. They could play high scoring with you two Got goaltending options. To turn to. They got three of them more as it didn't even play in the playoffs. So far. I mean, it's been the rookie Alex that Belkevich playing every game, which has been a little surprising, but he was outstanding in the regular season, so And you know, with camp A. It's just like you know that their power play is going to be dangerous every single night, so limiting the damage. They're making it more of a 515 game, or Carolina can dominate the shot attempts and that sort of thing. That's the lay of the land of Carolina wants to win this Syriza, but they are a better, more healthy version of the Florida Panthers. They go toe to toe offensively with the bolts. And they can definitely beat them in the series..

Andrei Vasilevskiy delivers consecutive shutouts, Lightning top Stars 2-0
"Vasilevskiy was once again dominant. He stopped all 20 shots He faced supposed to shut out in his second straight start and earn his second shutout overall this season that earned him the first star of the week in the NHL. Is now posted shut outs and back to back starts five times in his career, and he's gone seven consecutive periods without allowing a goal. When you talk about the advantage the Lightning has in net every game. It's pretty wide, especially in this division. Vasilevskiy is head and shoulders better than everyone else. Ben Bishop might have a say in that, but he's injured right now for the stars Brian and Blam from Sun Sports and My partner for The Last Call, which is presented by Jack Daniels told Dave Michigan and me on power lunch yesterday. That vast Celeski has grown so much as a netminder. He's a machine. He really s vasilevskiy. That really interesting character. And, of course, is a hockey player. He's very quiet with us. Naturally it apparently he's a real riot with the players, you know, on practice, days and days in between got a great sense of humor. But he is all business. When he shows up first thing in the morning, you talk to other players and go. You just leave Vasi to himself. He's he's already in that zone. He's got the body for it. It's 63 and well over £200. He's got the long legs and long arms. You know, we're talking about circuits have an experience exactly the same thing of front, John Goaltending coach talked about it recently saying that you know, vastly going all the way and winning the cup. It solidifies everything that they've talked about all the way along How your off season training regiment right through to the very last save in Game six against Dallas to win the Stanley Cup. Your gold center. Oftentimes is your best penalty killer and the Lightning had to kill off six power place from the stars, and that was big, according to egg blam, and he loved what he saw. Thought Alex Killorn had some sequences. I would point him out, especially. I thought he was incredible. He had four if not five. Individual plays where he just dismantled their attack. Turned the pack over and either shot out of the zone himself or made availability for somebody else that he was playing with the get the park and get it down. But they all were in great sequence when the pressure when not to That was a big part of the game and then getting on the scoreboard first two now, But Andre, polite, just has an affinity for that, And then he starts on time all the time. And that's always a big deal. Doesn't matter who you're playing. Whether it's Dallas and the team you played in the Stanley Cup finals or the last place team, Callie always seems to start on time and a that gives you a big advantage.
"stanley cup final" Discussed on Girl At The Game
"I'm not going to start her vacation off at this bad mojo here like a wallow in it myself and I think yeah, I think Alex and I had I think we were like nine and o or like eight an hour or something covered games together after that Bruins win streak just was that was that was like all you and me and then it was so funny that it was like Sean was on a game and I didn't even want to mention it. I just was kind of watching from afar and then I saw they lose and that Sean's doing the notes and the rap not like that's pretty funny. I don't know that's weird to me. But hey, I mean like still like wage we have like two losses between the two like we're still ride in the South. This is a run and I think only ones a regulation loss which is the one I did so my it's really not that bad still and I guess she was having three regulation losses and US accounting for one of them when we do the coverage isn't all that bad. So I'm going to take it and I'm going to ride this right to the Stanley Cup Final where they will go and we're things will be normal birth. Then we'll be on site again. It's going to be going to be fantastic. But seriously, like they really are playing so well and it's been a joy to like have a break from Celtics coverage when I get thrown on Bruins games because I don't know what they're starting to feel like they have that type of chemistry that can make them help them make another one of those deep runs that we've kind of grown like a costume to every year but last season the season just got squandered right and it just like got weird in the bubble and all that momentum. They built in the season was just lost but this year kind of feels a little more reminiscent of their Stanley Cup run a few years ago to me and especially with stuff like this. It's like Lake Tahoe trip. Let's start there. It was so fun just to watch a show up in ninety s gear just like it's fun. Like they did it with the when they did the Winter Classic when they showed peaky blinders gear like it's it's just a lot of fun and it kind of gets like the the dog And set for the game beforehand. I was like, oh no way. The Bruins are losing this game just the scenery alone and that came with beautiful the sunset and just the mountains and the trees and the lake. It was just like they need to do this every year with or without fans. Cuz that was just unbelievably amazing and then the game itself. I mean I expected a lot of goals, but I didn't think it would be so one-sided. I know that the Bruins have not lost to the Flyers this year, but I was like one of these days they're going to lose like they're not going to win all eight games. They very well may at this point, they're five and O against them, but it was just a lot of goals David pastrnak as clearly as healthy as he's ever been the team's clicking and they're doing it without well, they did it without Kevin Miller and Matt grzelcyk wage not having grzelcyk was huge cuz they missed his pocket movement. They saw that in 2019 in the Stanley Cup Final and he was out with a concussion for those couple of games..
