"That there's only one other afternoon game today in Vegas, the Golden Knights in the Coyotes playing there, how much of a Stanley Cup? I guess legitimate threat. Do you view the Golden Knights This year? I thought going into the season they would be the top team in the West, and it looked like for the longest time. Colorado is not going to be able to find there. Momentum that they had last season, so to speak, But it has been excited. Me, too, between those two teams that I think either those two can win a round of the conference finals or the semifinals and get to the cup and make a legitimate claim that they could be Stanley Cup champions. Yeah, now that I think they're the most to two of the most entertaining teams to watch I just I love watching them both. And you mention Colorado. They play at six o'clock. They are an Anaheim later.

Los Angeles Lakers Defeat Toronto Raptors

"Is the Lakers Nation live postgame show in your Lakers just picked up a much-needed win against the Toronto Raptors dominant performance. The three pointers finally start to fall in love to see that the game got a little bit Scrappy we're going to talk about what happened there dentist router what's going on some, you know a little bit of a confrontation with Coach Frank Vogel all kinds of stuff to dive into tonight joining me is Matt Peralta from lakersnation.com Matt, so nice to be able to come out here and talk about a win especially given the the current situation. The Lakers are in in the Stanley Cup. Yeah, I'm happy we need wins right now. We we need to take them. However, we get them Toronto was one of the games I scheduled that was scheduled. I was like, oh the Lakers should probably win this one especially since they're so short-handed that came out and did just that so, you know, I feel pretty good that we're treading water and that's all you know. I said going into this game that just like the game against the Sacramento Kings because this was a winnable game that inherently makes it a must begin because frankly the Lakers are going to have games where they just don't have the Firepower to keep up with some of these other teams. For example, we saw that against the Clippers the other day but tonight being a winnable game. They had to come out approach it as a must-win and I feel like they did the energy on both ends of the floor the execution and was on a different level and that was so great to see to see them step up coming off that loss to the Clippers. I was really pleased with what we saw will get into all the different players because there were so many guys tonight. Like I'm already having trouble. Yeah figuring out who the next man up award is going to go to and not because like on Sunday, we're there just wage. Many options tonight there were two there's too many options. There's so many guys we could give this to Yeah, you you heard the the players talk after the blowout loss of the Clippers that they needed emphasized ball movement and mad movement. I think you saw a lot of that in the first half especially the first quarter where they just decided to blow the doors off the Raptors by shooting. Well from Beyond The Arc it was really impressive to see if

Fresh "Stanley Cup" from ESPN Radio

"In Pittsburgh, and the celebration underway. Love sticks, helmets littering the ice. They have flooded off the bench from the far side down into the near corner to our right celebrating around Philip Lindbergh. In the most unordinary of seasons. Key players out of the lineup in the national semifinal due to Cove in 19. Lindberg gets the start and the shut out 25 saves here in the national championship. And it's a five Nothing you mass win. What a scene down on the ice as the U. Mass. Minutemen celebrate their first national championship. I said, it's just a remarkable job. By the minimum. You're looking a Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup that I go through Toronto undamaged and two bubbles to do it and the most uncommon of seasons you mask Through the unbalanced scheduling the schedule of hockey's got made up literally by the week with all the cancelations and Coleman issues that they had. You never know who you're gonna play. Next. It was constant adjusting on the fly. All the programs in that conference, even through the playoffs, so they win their league championship by beating in state rival U Mass. Lowell. Then they go to Albany. You get the Notre Dame thing in Albany, where they can play. They want a beating to Boston schools. Then they come here to Pittsburgh. They knock out the defending champs, and then they knock out sing Cloud State. Who was the number two team in the N C. H. E. E s o Great job by you Mask who knocked off the top two teams in college hockey's top conference to win the national title, and that is something to save her for a long time players and coaches embracing down on the ice. The faceoff circle to our right there, hugging the championship hats are going to be distributed here in Pittsburgh and you Mass shuts out. ST. Cloud State five Nothing in the national championship game. This team 18 2 and three since December, 7th And what a job By Greg Carvel 5 29 into in his first season five years later, a rewarding process, he said they're celebrating the national championship. This is a moment that he told us yesterday he dared to dream about. And Dave. They couldn't do it in more convincing fashion. This was complete wire to wire domination by the minute, man. It certainly was. And I see Sing Cloud State a lot. I see a little bit more than U mass. I've seen you mask be this good When I have never seen you mascot, a team so out of their game that they did to Saint Cloud. I think one of the reasons was ST Cloud lives in the paint. In front of opposing teams nets, and it was just absolutely something that humans would not let them do. And you can tell from the reaction in the stands. This means so much to their schools to their university. Their athletic director Ryan Bamford, has done a lot to support this program. These guys are the underdogs. No one expected U Mass to reach this stage. And it seems like they're built to do it consistently now with the leadership of great Carvell when you take a look at the teams that have won national titles over the last few years, and it's to go back to Union College, winning it under Rick Bennett. Their teams that are a little older Teams are a little bigger teams that have a lot of four year guys that could build a culture where the upperclassmen can create a legacy that they could hand down. To the next generations. That's one of the major reasons that they have had success. All right, we're joined now. Down by the ice by Jake Gaudet. Jake. Congratulations on the national championship. Your teammate Bobby Tre Video always tells the locker room win a national championship and you'll go down in history. How does it feel to make history here tonight? Mm hmm. Again. We're trying to get Jake got debt with us down there on the ice. Jake, do you have it's.

Andrei Vasilevskiy delivers consecutive shutouts, Lightning top Stars 2-0

"Vasilevskiy was once again dominant. He stopped all 20 shots He faced supposed to shut out in his second straight start and earn his second shutout overall this season that earned him the first star of the week in the NHL. Is now posted shut outs and back to back starts five times in his career, and he's gone seven consecutive periods without allowing a goal. When you talk about the advantage the Lightning has in net every game. It's pretty wide, especially in this division. Vasilevskiy is head and shoulders better than everyone else. Ben Bishop might have a say in that, but he's injured right now for the stars Brian and Blam from Sun Sports and My partner for The Last Call, which is presented by Jack Daniels told Dave Michigan and me on power lunch yesterday. That vast Celeski has grown so much as a netminder. He's a machine. He really s vasilevskiy. That really interesting character. And, of course, is a hockey player. He's very quiet with us. Naturally it apparently he's a real riot with the players, you know, on practice, days and days in between got a great sense of humor. But he is all business. When he shows up first thing in the morning, you talk to other players and go. You just leave Vasi to himself. He's he's already in that zone. He's got the body for it. It's 63 and well over £200. He's got the long legs and long arms. You know, we're talking about circuits have an experience exactly the same thing of front, John Goaltending coach talked about it recently saying that you know, vastly going all the way and winning the cup. It solidifies everything that they've talked about all the way along How your off season training regiment right through to the very last save in Game six against Dallas to win the Stanley Cup. Your gold center. Oftentimes is your best penalty killer and the Lightning had to kill off six power place from the stars, and that was big, according to egg blam, and he loved what he saw. Thought Alex Killorn had some sequences. I would point him out, especially. I thought he was incredible. He had four if not five. Individual plays where he just dismantled their attack. Turned the pack over and either shot out of the zone himself or made availability for somebody else that he was playing with the get the park and get it down. But they all were in great sequence when the pressure when not to That was a big part of the game and then getting on the scoreboard first two now, But Andre, polite, just has an affinity for that, And then he starts on time all the time. And that's always a big deal. Doesn't matter who you're playing. Whether it's Dallas and the team you played in the Stanley Cup finals or the last place team, Callie always seems to start on time and a that gives you a big advantage.

You're right off of busy with the blues are busy paying playing the kind of like an extra free, So but no you look at it. Right. I mean the fly is I get we should knock on wood that took over, you know, when this podcast drops. Hopefully the Bruins don't have any issues because it seems like we have another outbreak starting in Philly where Drew Justin Braun I think trapped behind choice of these people are my fantasy team. I think what gets lost in this is these people are who cares what their health? It's my fantasy team. I know it's it's a rough hit the Evan paragraph but like, yes you go. Look at Philly their home of three guys. Now where there's smoke there's fire when it comes to these things that you have to imagine this probably going to be more they already postponed one game that Philly was going to play against the capital. So after monitor that situation not just for the Flyers birth Phle knock on wood. This wasn't a case for the Bruins were affected because the Bruins played Philly just last week. So you get the commander that and then we've got this absolute shitshow of a situation now in Vegas where they already shut things down for you know over a week when they had a few guys test positive and they play that game against Anaheim they hold out a guy after a second. Turns out. I think Frank seravalli said that whoever was it was held out tested positive which like why the hell was this guy playing so I love this whole pulling people out of games Midway through like it's going to have colpitis like like what is that? Just what like that doesn't help anything that already there. They've already been there and that was a situation to like Kevin Duran had that situation with the Nets where that was a case of fact, I think he was in close contact with someone who tested positive like this is even worse cuz there was a dude who was legitimately tested positive. So this guy was walking around her standing around rather like dead. Yeah, I mean Santa tell me it's you know, I don't think that it's going to be situation where the NHL is going to be like where we're shutting everything down for like a week or two if they going to do that yet, but they've got A Sneak there, you know, the testing protocols or what-have-you whether it's you know men dating rapid testing cuz I don't know how that Vegas player maybe is tests were inconclusive how he's allowed to play if they don't have his tests in yet. They don't have those results in yet. Like would you rather be safe than sorry that situation like it would suck. It's like just off of poor testing you may turn around. It's like the Bruins didn't have pasta or something just off of Adelaide test, but rather that up and then having a situation where you could have an outbreak on your team. So yeah, I mean I listen to Lake Tahoe things only it's less than two weeks away. You've gotta either nip it in the blood in terms of what you're doing to stop these outbreaks or you can just switch the teams around because like well, Been announced that even with no fancy like all right. What are we doing? Like the why are we sending these teams out to Lake Tahoe? Here's the cool Optics of it going to change, you know the coffee break the ice. Yeah, like the decision to like risk it in a year. We're already you've done a pretty shity job. Like

The GOAT Whisperer: The Man Who Lured Tom Brady To Tampa

"So greg first question. Where are you right now. I have met the media center for the super bowl which is in the tampa convention center. Kinda for all that around downtown tampa but is not quite busy here yet. So it's a little bit still kind of thought out. I'm sure in in forty eight hours. It'll be crazy here. Well greg sunday will be the first time that a super bowl is played in the home city of one of the two competing teams. What is the feeling in tampa right now. In the up to the game as you walk around drive around you feel a super bowl frenzy even in this pandemic couple days city is enjoying a run like it's never had. He had the stanley cup at world series in october. God and now. I think just making the boy. I would have been a big step for this team but see them win. Three road playoff games. And now be as you said in a super bowl in their own stadium. It's been a wild six months for tampa or to be sure we wanted to pick your brain a little bit about the guy who many people credit with building this bucks super bowl team. Gm jason light when he joined the bucks seven years ago. This team was more or less in disarray. How has he rebuilt it. I think he's done a very good job of drafting three touchdown. She'll back to this. First draft is fourteen. Taking mike evans been a pro bowl. Receiver has reset all the receiving records already. Big exclamation shows tied his own tampa bay record with his wealth reception for a touchdown this year. Tom brady just set the new fifteen two starting offensive linemen and their left tackle donovan smith and they're left guard alley pat and then really you look at the last three draft. That's defense has come. I think they have seven. Vincent starters that are from the last three drafts talent collectors. Were finding the right fifth buildings championship team. There's a veteran presence traded for jason pierre paul from the giants and hit on him and consumers thirty four and still a very high level the this is a good mix of young. It's really worth well. Even jason light was putting pieces into place. And you know sort of building the backbone of this team. This team wasn't doing particularly well and nfl. Owners of course are not known for their patients. So why did. The buccaneers stick with light. Even as this team continued to miss the playoffs year after year after year you go back to the end two thousand eighteen and then made the decision to fire dirk cutter coach dirk cutter. He is now officially relieved of his duties by the team. And in this statement. The buccaneers say that gm jason light will lead the new search. So that means light will get. I think in most situations they probably would have moved on from jason light his gm as well. He did really well in that he kind of pulled out an important card. And was there gateway to getting bruce arians. I gotta say jason's main reason. I came back in coaching and i knew how good of an evaluator was having worked with him. And we say we share the same vision workers in arizona in twenty thirteen adding when it came time for the bucks to be looking for a head coach. He kind of got them. In with bruce arians gave the bucks somebody that he knew and trusted. Having a head coach bruce. And the relationship that i have with him is it. I don't know if we'll ever be repeated. He's just such a unique guy. We have such a unique strong bond. That we we get along well. We even argue

Super Bowl LV: A Broadcast Like No Other

"So richard. It's obviously been a weird year for the nfl and for nfl broadcasts. Where did the league land in terms of numbers this season. Yeah i think you're being you're being polite when you use the word weird unprecedented get your thesaurus out of the league. Did i think well given the unprecedented nature of the pandemic most of the sports not all but most of the sports and particularly most of the jewish events. You're fine around the masters your final stanley cup finals. They were all down multiple double digits. The nfl was down single digits and in some areas. If you really want to of go deep inside the numbers like there were a couple of windows that we're up from the previous year. The conference championship ratings. Were pretty good. The bucks packers game drew forty four point seven million that beat the previous years early game and the bills chiefs forty one point eight million. I think a little bit down from the previous years lake game so to me given that we're in a pandemic i think that's a win so in terms of the raw numbers. The nfl was down. But i think in terms of the larger narrative. I think they had an incredibly successful year. Well the nfl got more or less a dream. Matchup right in terms of quarterbacks at this year super bowl. Tom brady going for yet. Another super bowl at age. Forty three against patrick mahomes arguably the league's biggest star and the reigning super bowl. Mvp what impact you expect to that quarterback match up to have on super bowl viewership this year. The one thing i would say about super bowl viewership is it's not one factor that determines the viewership. You're certainly going to get a base of around one hundred million people to start. Who will watch this game. Twenty fifteen i believe is the highest viewership close at one hundred fifteen million people. I believe for the patriots. Seahawks that the kind of amazing ending so the game has for the most part over the last decade. You've seen it cross over one hundred million mark so you're working with that base and in terms of what factors sort of will come into play on this. Well you have the factor of a very very enticing matchup between the chiefs and the bucks and particularly patrick mahomes versus. Tom brady the greatest quarterback of each of their generations. You're getting a little bit of like a lebron versus jordan. Kind of feel to it. So i think that would lead to a pop in viewership one of the realities when it comes to the super bowl is weather. What's the weather like around the country on that sunday. The weather as you know on the east coast They've been ravaged by a snowstorm. So the likelihood is you probably get more people at home because of that. And that could add to pop in viewership terms of the downsides no kind of community viewing you're gonna have far less people watching in bars. Far less people watching in restaurants far less people watching. Let's say at airports my senses without making a definitive guests. I think this year's viewership will be last year which was just right around the hundred million mark. The fact is in our country. There are very few things that i would call communal at this point particularly in our polarized times but the superbowl happens to be one of them. I mean if you can think of something that will bring a hundred million americans together other than the super bowl. I can't at this moment. Outside of voting. Think off the top of my head. What does it

"I mean a couple of nights ago. We had two overtime periods. there's a lot of hockey. It's a lot of hockey. Yeah I mean we played normally sixty minutes. Sometimes we can play one hundred and twenty minutes of hockey in one night and then the guys. I don't know how they do. They gotta play the next night time. It's the wear and tear on their bodies. Remember one time. One of the guys in Chicago is telling me when they're flying back from a game. They're they're playing look like an emergency room with all although I've by ice packs guys getting stitched on the plane I mean there was blood everywhere on guy had his gall bladder taken outright Peter Forsberg black mark and they and they didn't have enough surgeons so a lot of the players operated on each other. "And welcome back to the Ron Burgundy podcasts. Okay raise your hands. If you like exports okay. I see some hands now. Clap your hands. If you like trophies any trophy lovers is in the house so when was the last time you won a Trophy Carolina. I don't WanNa say oh come on detail. Instill family here. I won second place at Sarah Lawrence. Slam poetry contest Jesus Christ okay forget I asked well. We have such a treat. The Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy in sports history still being competed for by professional athletes and I am literally looking at it right now in all of its glory. It's amazing. It's on the table right next next to me. And of course we have with us today. Mike Bolt Mike is the keeper of the Cup. He is the man in charge and today we get an inside scoop on how he manages to guard that Cup the Stanley Cup Mike thank you for joining us here on the podcast Ron. Thanks for having having us the Stanley Cup wow well. I mean every day you wake up. It turned you turn and look at that thing right because you have to be around twenty four hours. Yeah I sleep with one eye open all night. You're very vigilant to guard at every day which leads me to my first question. Do you think your trustworthy trustworthy enough to guard this. I don't put the NHL Hall of fame. Do you are being trusted with this outstanding tr-. I mean does that ever make you kind of lose your mind slightly actually it does sometimes. I mean especially when we're traveling and flying around just the other day we couldn't find it in Denver and it was a little stressful Denver we were in Denver doing some press and bouncing around promoting the playoffs and I get to Denver and waiting for the bags. Come out and it's not there. It's not there and I'm like okay dealing with the airlines and they can't tell me where it is and so luckily I have a contact with Air Canada and I picked up the phone and they could tell me where it was and apparently wasn't Denver but it was stuck. On how on the conveyor belt did you ask the officials. They're the the Denver able to shut the airport down. I get actually but they didn't listen okay because that's what I I would have run out onto the tarmac and tried to stop planes from landing ending. You know it's funny when we were in the airports though I do open it up and it's always amazing to see the reaction just actually when I come up here last night I was checking checking in and it was really quiet and I took it over to employees to see it. Within literally twenty seconds there is about that they just got the magnet. I mean it just attracts people and I been doing this for twenty years. I kind of know better but I was. I was laughing like oops. That's my mistake. I mean when you brought this beautiful trophy into our recording studio here. I squealed like a fourteen year old girl I thought you would stepped on something. I thought I'd seen a ghost yeah because that's how I react. If I ever see I see a lot of ghosts haunted garage. Yes that at one time that's what usually have you heard of an ice jackal before by the way no. I haven't okay well. Let's just leave it at that now. Correct let me if I'm wrong but I've heard that this trophy is so revered revered reveal regatta revered by NHL players that many who who have not won it they refused to be in its presence is that is accurate for pretty true. I mean there are players that come around it but won't touch it. I quick story. Scotney won three Stanley Cup Scott Nita Mayer. He loves the dog guest go ahead. Oh excellent his brother rob when they won together. No seven we were up but there there are some Cram British Columbia and rob kept telling people. I love it up there by the way Gordon is that cottage country is that the same is God's country. It's that's God's country. You're okay all right. Have you ever been to yellowknife. I have okay yeah continue yeah. I got I got a timeshare. Yellow Great Carolina you would love Yellowknife flat and Cold Glen. Yeah exactly but it is. It's a cool place body type flashing cold. Nothing thing but rob is telling everybody that you'd never touch the cup and get one of these brother brought it back and I said well. That's not true rob. You kept Kinda rubbing up against maybe not on purpose and you know so the superstition of touching it didn't really affect you. She wanted to know seven but there are definitely will not touch it until they win. It and guys at a retired still feel weird about being around it. Meaning the players retired who didn't win. They at Wendel Clark played for Toronto Great Player when he first retarded he wanted to a pitcher with it. He says he'll do pitchers but he will not touch because I'd never wanted. I will never touch the Stanley Cup for the female listeners out here. I feel like we should follow any hockey players name with single Gaulle or in a relationship okay because you find them dreamy don't you I do who is a dreamy guy. In the Carolina. frequently goes to Kings Games and she loves blowing kisses at the players on the ice. Yeah there's a rugged handsomeness to hockey players. They look like they could build you a house and and get into an unprovoked fight for you. Now you have white gloves on. You have to handle the cup with white gloves. Yes it's part the prestige respect for the protocol. Yeah I didn't win it. I just look after it and you want to make sure that people when you're carrying it outside of the buildings and ah you know in the public people know that you're the keeper not the guy that wanted and the white gloves you mentioned protocol but I also read somewhere in my research that it's because ah wants someone was eating peanut butter jar and they were like Oh dude look it's the Stanley Cup grabbed it and they got peanut butter. All over it is that I heard that story but he does get a lot of stuff all over. I mean ice cream Sundaes or eating out of it. Oh so there's been some close calls a lot of ice cream in the summer a lot of cereal out of it and a lot of adult beverages from Margaritas beer champagne wine spritzers have been made in it. I'm thinking right Scotch chips and Guacamole fill that ran time for me. lobster bisque has been in there. Oh okay patine which is French fries. Sushi baby's beat him a couple of babies of a baptist. That's adorable. I love that we had a penguin in there once a little baby paying someone steal a baby England. We went to a zoo. We did the Pittsburgh Zoo. Actually you guys stole it. They brought it over to back with his mommy. That's they told you Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire any connection no question that is a good question actually but you do you do like Gary Potter though Oh for sure yeah. I mean you can't say you don't J. K. Rowling I mean she had a dollar to her name and she created a whole world trout. I mean if you say anything about Ajay. Yeah you're going to hear about it. Goblet of fire rate one. Have you ever gone to the supermarket picked up a few things come home and then realized you left the Stanley Cup in an apple barrel. You can be honest because we can edit that. We actually have taken into the supermarket a couple of times okay okay. I did it once with Doug. Wait in Long Island. The wait family wanted to reenact a pitcher of engine only Joey doing they get there was something on the tabloids and they wanted under the reenact a shopping cart thing with the cup in it and so we did that and then with Billie Garin who assisted GM with Pittsburgh brought to the market to pick up some beer for his party's. We had the cup in the middle of the cart and loaded all the beer around the cup long with a couple of bags of chips and then getting the reaction when you're going shopping with the Stanley Cup was pretty cool but it's got to turn a few heads edge but we didn't leave it in the Apple Section at Billy Guarantee Party too. I forgot they were Bobbin for Apple Cup to gear typical Billy Garin the craziest part he really does never been invited but they are good parties. Why why is it called Stanley. Why not see more or Ralphie. It's called Stanley Stanley because of the Lord Stanley was the gentleman who bought the trophy in eighteen ninety two for forty eight dollars and sixty seven cents. was he a real lord or did you just call themselves. Lords handling Lord Scott Disick. He was a real Lord he was from Preston England his actual family seal is on the cup. He was the Governor General of Canada back in the late eighteen nine hundred and it was his children actually the convince their dad divide the trophy for the Amateur Hockey Association and another little trivia fact that no one is he hated hockey himself. He didn't no it. Even Oh and his kids grew up playing game Canada coming over from England the kids love the gain your hand and their their father Kinda liked it can lord of standard like this game servers evolve. I declare it he actually never saw the trophy even presented in one thousand nine hundred about he went back already back in England doing whatever he his Lord stuff talking anger night people right he never saw the cup presented ever and he's the only member of the hockey hall of fame that had nothing to do with hockey other than donating the trophy so how Lord Stanley well. I'm sure he's smiling down on the Cup right. Now we actually took it over to England and Oh six and put a plaque on the building. Yeah no one came and visited actually was pretty crazy. All the press was there and and stomach data. We had a lot of hockey fans. This tour bus was going by and after Fillon I my boss Philip Richard Dunston press we stood back and this tour bus went by someone goes what's going on and Phil Goes Prince William Zim buying a ring or something like that. This is way before he got married and so he started the big stir that thinking Prince William was getting engaged Prince. I I was not invited to the royal wedding some tragedy in Mike Mike. What is your favorite part of hockey game for me. I'll just say minds music. I love the organ music then yeah don't wine would be favorite game. Yeah I mean playoffs. It's over time for sure overtime for those of you. Don't go blend the ADRENALIN. We get five minutes of it in the regular season and then we have sudden death rate too..

Are they mad at you for what you've created. We're actually a sale to a car dealer or to the manufacturer so they're actually quite happy. They don't have to pay for advertising which is usually the largest expense in selling car so when we buy a car from a dealer. It's a sale for them. Without any advertising expense I remember when I was living down in San Diego. I used to record jingles for Phil Everton Everton Ford and that was part of their big advertising budget fool Everton Ford. It's a great data by afford Phil Everton and this was a career. I just what do you mean it was. A jingles knows augmented my salary as a broadcaster got it come dowd to fill Everton. He won't cheat you. He's honest Phil. I love it Phil Everton. He's honest. "How's that going and here's the Studio Carolina her how you doing. I'm nick in the booth. Y- okay thanks for our families good. Thanks great and the temperature is good in here. Sorry for all the questions. I'm I'm not trying to be a nosy. Carolina Nosey Nelly Not Nosy Carolina a phrase race. Oh well I just read a Great Book Carolina. You should check it out. It's called how to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie it. It just came out that became like a little over eighty year and it's growing in popularity. I wanted to give a shout out on the podcast more where people could hear about it. Oh it's actually one of the most popular books of all time I think in in it my new friend Dale the six ways to make people like you and it's it's not what what you think you don't have to bring a you know a brick of cocaine for the next game night in fact the first thing Dale says is you have to become genuinely interested in other people hence my questions today okay. Is that why you asked me if my nose was real when I walked into. I'm just saying people have been talking and we just know it used to be bigger or maybe it's the same size. I didn't do anything so yup well. It's still pretty outstanding okay. You have an outstanding knows. I don't know how you mean that anyway. The second thing deal tells us to to do is smile. Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile. Okay please close. I'm smiling much. Just close your mouth talk. Normally Merck's people love you'll. I'M GONNA pay you ten dollars to normal and I'll pay you fifty to do the same okay. Thirdly you have to say a person's name a lot to them. It is the sweetest sweetest and most important sound in any language. That's certainly true. I actually fall asleep to a tape of people saying my name different recordings of people at Award Shows Airport loudspeakers lawyers at my deposition hearings just to get me relaxed. Oh aw well well. Maybe you know you can use some of these skills to talk to the CEO fair today who the CEO of fair a representative affair. He's we're having them in for a few questions. Oh okay what's his name. He's walking quickly. What's his name come on Carolina. He's the money man he's in around. His name is Scott Scott Painter. He's in round Scotty. Please welcome to the studio Scott Painter. Thanks for joining us. Hey Ron on how are you. I'm great. I'm great. Thank you so much for coming. Yes thank you what a what a beautiful name Scott Painter glorious to the Lips Scott Scotty Scott Take it easy. Scott Scott Painter never forget that good name and keep going is it. What's the origin of painter is that Dutch I German and Scottish. Oh well we learn something new every day and thank you for that information. Scott Painter. CEO founder of Fair and so what what does fair auto do well. We are a way to get a car entirely on your phone right. That's right because we've been talking about. Those are the advertisements yes yes anyway. You get the phone and you get a car. You get a car well. It really comes from just wanting to make the whole process of getting a car lot easier. Most people don't even want to go into a dealership anymore anymore. No the idea of doing everything on your phone just like everything else in modern life was really where the whole thing started a lot of dealerships dealerships. Frankly they smell. You Know No. I'm just saying they stink really. That's what I've income too. I mean I think they smell new car. which for people is usually A? Roy that smell like the end. I just thought of it makes me want to vomit that seems dramatic wanted just tickets to the water and Scott Scott Painter. He's here with us. You're just here's tuning in a lot of people just tune into a podcast. Did you know that just for my records wind is my car. Come Scott well. Just gotTa get on your phone. Pick one out. No no no. I mean my free car the one I was promised who promised you that. Oh Oh okay so it's a surprise oh that's sweet now okay when I get my free car. What should I do run run. That's happening okay. It's a surprise Scott. The question is why. Do you like working at fair. I mean you created it. So it's your baby. Well it but where where's the satisfaction. I think great companies in great entrepreneurs solve a problem and I think buying and owning a car is complicated time consuming. Ming frustrating and most modern customers have said they don't WanNa do it anymore. I mean Hassle Yeah Yeah. The confrontation the committee all of it so what we created was really a solution for that that doesn't require any negotiation any confrontation or commitment you can take the car as long as you want and then when you're done with it you just simply let us know and and we pick up. What's the shortest amount of time someone is a bleached a car for if you had anyone to just for like five minutes it turns out when you humans get a car that they like. Could they sort of move into it and even though we don't have a term to our contract ready average customer keeping the car for almost two years. Wow Ryan usually can't afford cars at dealerships dealerships but he loves negotiating why we need to bring that up you stayed at that dealership. I love to haggle a love the back and forth way salesman's. It's time for hours and then says just kidding and leave. I like to go in. Let's say a cars being sold for thirty five thousand dollars. I like to go and I like the look them in the they get excited because as Ron Burgundy of course Alco- I've got two grand cash and I'll slide it across the desk. Ask Real slow in a Manila envelope and they usually kick me out. They know you now but there's a thrill to that just for me but you're saying most people they it's intimidating to them. For most people the average car costs about a third of their net worth so so the car requires financing as well and the idea of going in negotiating with the dealer is certainly something that modern consumers don't like a lot third third of their net worth. We'd love to have a net worth in general so as a result. Most people end up taking a car based on what they can afford on a monthly basis. All the cars cars that we've got in the APP are presented on an all in month to month basis okay so the car comes with a warranty roadside assistance and a standard maintenance so so you don't have to worry about any of that and we now also even offer auto insurance so it's truly a single cost of ownership except for fuel. Let me ask this question. What if someone has a negative reaction to their car and destroys it have you have you come across that and they just beat up the exactly they take out a tire iron and they just smashed the windshield and like oh. They tricked me. I never wanted this guy. I don't think that'd it'd be good for anybody. That's not good for us and probably catching right. You'll catch him ultimately. We will get the new it. They're gonNA get you so don't do that. Put any Herbie fully loaded situations. Herbie fully loaded cargo and still life right right. Was that a Disney movie yeah and then it was Lindsay Lohan remake. I WANNA get back to my car that I'm getting okay my my gift card. What color is it. Can you guys just tell me so. Is it going to have a ribbon on it I want. I don't know if this is a conversation for now and what I drive it. Can I keep the ribbon on it to show off that I got free car. I wanted to be prepared for there to be no car in what scenario and and the scenario of reality. I want you to be prepared for a car not to show up today okay. I'M GONNA put air quotes around that Scott do do you miss one of the great things about car dealerships or the you know the inflatable floppy man. You know what I'm talking about. I do that gets your attention. Listeners listeners. You probably will picture how would you describe the inflatable floppy man Carolina a body of skin without a spine or bones and yes blasio yet and that's something or you'll see like an inflatable gorilla or something like that at at Dillard. Do you get feedback. That people are missing. I'm seeing those things they're still out there. Believe it or not the way that our our business works. Is We rely on dealers partners but oh we we buy the car from them consign. We'll let our users use vehicles right so they don't have to go through any of the complication or the confrontation with the dealer. We handle all of that. I WANNA get one of those inflatable relatable guerrillas just to put out in front of my condo that I think we can do though we can arrange for that because they're not in demand nearly as much any okay so if I'm not going to get a free car from you guys guerrilla would be me to have that generator blowing throughout the night gungor going among younger definitely a conversation going on but I think I think that's a nice trade off of a fun inflatable label gorilla for the whole neighborhood to enjoy conversation so Scott what what else would you like our listeners to know about fair auto auto you know. I think that the idea of going into debt to buy a car which is what we all have car is for the most part ninety nine percent of cars. These are a depreciating asset absolutely and you drive it off the lot it plummets it does and almost all the risk in the car. Business has been shifted to consumers over the the last hundred years. We make them go get a car loan debt to cover all that risk and I think the idea of becoming obligated to a car is really going to be obsolete. I think the idea of being able to get access to mobility on a month to month basis just like everything else in modern life. I have a sixteen year old son. He went through the whole process awesome. He was just like dad before fair. How did kids get cars yeah and it makes a ton of sense. I mean he doesn't have a job. He didn't have a bank account. Just got his driver's license. He goes through all of these things and now all of a sudden he can get access to a car with any kind of credit history and he pays month to month. It's a great way for him to get a vehicle.

"Good have Kenny and they've had some offense zone time. They hit everything in sight, they've defended, well, and even on that last play like Saint Louis was going to be able to get out of his own blade tried to make a little play inside his own blue line and corral with a real good defensive play off the draw behind the Louis going badly. Correct. Quest comes over for the puck to Kenyans all the far boards for the Bruins. Can't let's go lose from the crowd here at Saint Louis. Record ticket prices for this game today the secondary market. What kept his own more left wing boards now. Joe Hansen comes all their buddies. Audit for the blues around four Perico break. There's crew cross for the Whiteside. Bars Ron Bagley knocked down and covered by Bennington with ten forty remaining. I really liked the way Boston as as blood just the goal, but they're staying aggressive instead of you know with a two goal lead. Sometimes you get a little cautious. And if you're defense when you start backing the offense zone Boston's doing any of that we saw John More pension to try and keep play alive. We just saw Tori crew pick up the puck is oh, blue line skated to the puck into blind. Don't the wing and break to the net looking for secondary passed. So they're not sitting back waiting for Saint Louis to come to them. They're trying to take the play to Saint Louis. The puck ahead. Trump. Trump to tough decision for Bruce, Cassidy back did not play a game five either. Now I seen against Louis a we talked to Kathy about it this morning. And he mentioned the chemistry that whom it has with crazy. And they combine on the third Boston goal again. You you look at Boston last number games they've had trouble scoring goals. Okay. They get on the power play tonight. But when you compare Kuhlman Bacchus the type of players, they are totally different one, young smaller skater shooter to make off into plays turn something turn. Nothing into something back is wind out leader type that inspires by physicality. Hi, this is that. Back here, the press after so difficult for him. Don't he was quoted today's saying? The lineup. He got it where there's white pad. And as we're looking at the replay thought it was in all now, we see the replay, at least from that angle. It shows that it was in. So this the question is did it cross the line, too? Tired, right? Yeah. We'll look like it did like is your, it's all the people up in Toronto or here they got all the video. "Couple of one incident. It's a beauty. That's why we talked about it's great. I don't think it rattles when I bring it up. I hope it doesn't. I don't want to get my own goal these head, but it was a long time ago. We were all their jokes about it back then. Now, it's, you know, like a lot of things ten years ago, you forget about it and he's dialed in this playoff. No, he knows what's at stake. He's been through two of them. One is a backup was the start against the hawks and wants to flip the script this time around. Now. The Bruins lost Chicago in that series show. Brian rast now you can kind of smell a two wins away from his first Cup start. He's certainly can't. And he's been fantastic. All playoffs long. I don't think he's been counted upon as much in, in this series of the hasn't Brier series. That's a credit to the way his team has played. He was busy in game two. I thought Saint Louis had a lot of volume on net. They played well below the dots and that led to a lot of opportunities for the blues, but for took harass it's been solid at the start of the playoffs has been solid through the second round through the third round. Now in the finals, he continues to, to appear to be unflappable in you heard, Bruce Cassidy talk about as a young goaltender there were times when he would be would come unhinged and we have not seen that the blues tried to get to the front of the net. They tried the contact. On other teams tried it through the course of the playoffs and yet to rashes maintains his calmness is coolness and keeps his eye on the prize. So he's two wins away from winning a Stanley Cup. I suspect at the Saint Louis blues will have their best game here tonight and I expect to harass.

I think Edmonson thought that maybe back as really didn't get hit with the high stick, and was trying to draw penalty that Edmonson didn't like it with back down on the ice. So he went over and gave a little shot in the back. Happened just outside the blue line. Then Bacchus dump the puck in and tried to get past Edmonson on the board. Just at the blue line at Edmonton got his stick up back down, Edmonson didn't like it. But Boston goes back on the power play. It is very high stick. Backus, of course, ten years say Louis last five is the captain, they elected not to resign him and his third season as a member of the road. This is the thing that we talked about earlier the game is that one of the keys for the Bruins take advantage of these power play opportunities because it's been the pork park of their game in the playoffs. "Importantly, perhaps most importantly, former Vezina trophy winner brain hold back holding down the goalie spot. What I'm saying is the Stanley Cup champion. Washington Capitals are back and soon enough. They'll be back in the Stanley Cup finals. Let's go ninety. Even this is going to be fun. Okay. All right. So ninety seconds, right? So here's the thing. I know you don't know ton about hockey. This. No, I I'm aware of gritty, and that's all you really need to know that that's all anybody needs to know or at least the men. But let's be honest getting to the Stanley Cup. Final is probably one of the hardest things to accomplish in sports NAFTA win twelve games over the course of a month today, not only go and have to win even more. You have. You have to win twelve just to get to the Cup final and then win four more. Those twelve games to get those winds is so ridiculously tough. And I know people are jaded because the penguins just repeated, but teams just don't get back to the Cup final even the Blackhawks who were considered a dynasty went a year between each title same with the Los Angeles Kings. It just doesn't happen. Okay. Fair enough. All right. Who feels like a concession. I don't. I don't know. It's not a concession. I think I made my arguments to why the cap back in the Stanley Cup. Now now I see hockey hockey's gonna be fun on this show. Alex of vegetables missile. You need to know this is one of the best players in hockey and a little bit older now, but still Dominic scoring force and look at the young talent on this team with the players. I mentioned previously there too. I'll give it to you. The capital certainly have a ton of scoring power. There's no doubt about it, but there's just something about going going back, especially after such an emotional win like that. That makes it really tough. Thank God. We'll be right back guys. We have a cool products for you if you dig the underdog and if you enjoy the stuff on our network, this is something you really going to enjoy..
