COVID-19 Surge in the US: The Summer of Hope Ends in Gloom

"Summer. That was supposed to mark america's independence from kovic nineteen is instead drawing to a close with the us more firmly under the tyranny of the virus with deaths per day. Back up to where they were in much. The delta variant is filling hospitals sickening alarming numbers of children and driving corona virus deaths in some places to the highest levels of the entire pandemic school systems that reopened the classrooms or abruptly switching back to remote learning because of outbreaks legal disputes threats and violence from republicans have erupted over mosque and vaccine requirements. The us death toll now stands at more than six hundred fifty thousand with one major forecast model projecting able top seven hundred and fifty thousand by december. I it wasn't supposed to be this way more than six months into the. Us vaccination drive president. Joe biden held a white house party on july fourth to celebrate the country's freedom from the virus and other political leaders had high hopes for a more close to normal summer. The summer wave was fueled by the extra contagious delta variant combined with stock resistance to vaccinations that formed along political and geographic lines. Said dr stan vermond of the yale school of public health. The us recorded twenty six thousand eight hundred deaths and more than four point two million infections in august. The number of monthly positive cases was the fourth-highest total since the start of the pandemic the twenty twenty one delta driven onslaught is killing young americans at a much higher rates than previous waves of the pandemic in the northeast last spring. The sun belt in the summer of twenty twenty and the deadly winter surge around the holidays even before the delta variants became dominant experts. Say there were indications that large gatherings and relaxed social distancing measures will fueling new cases exposing a floor in some republican governors plans not to enforce distancing or mask mandates

Commodity Stocks Plummet as Climbing COVID Cases Weigh on Market

"Where we start off with. The great commodity collapsed crude oil falling to its lowest level since the end of may goals at its lows of the session was a prices not seen since april of last year. Silver is now down more than eight percent in just the past week. Cobber lumber you know also down. So does this commodity selloff give you cause for concern or is it a sign that inflation will be transitory as the fed says stan. What are your thoughts tells you that they think or at least investors selling off crude who firmed up the dollar firmed out the ten year. Us treasury yield. They're telling you that they think the fed is going to start to taper soon. And if you go back to two thousand thirteen. In the december meeting the fed started to taper bond purchases from eighty five billion a month to seventy five trillion and then each subsequent meeting they started tapering ten billion dollars. Look at those three risk assets that we talked about that would signal that maybe we get it. As soon as jackson hole at the end of this month or the next meeting in september that the fed might really start speaking to now. Obviously i have no idea but when you look at crude oil i'll just tell you what happened. From december two thousand thirteen to december two thousand fourteen when that taper was in full effect crude oil in half okay so just from a technical perspective right now. Crude oil right now is broken that trend. That's been in place since the lows about a year ago or so and so technically it seems in a tough spot especially right now when the world is kind of grappling with delta variant. And maybe we're seeing less demand for your karen. That's what i think it is. i think it's delta variant. I think that you know when you have commodities and just a little bit of pulled back on demand commodities are commodities obviously so a little less demand means prices can really move especially as a commodity producers are gearing up making more. So that's what it seems to me. I'm not sure how to fit together. The very strong jobs number. That's not cover for the fed at all and yet this commodity action that is and the delta varian and the number of cases and the number of that is some cover for the fed.

How to Heal Emotional Trauma With Emotional Health Institute Founder, Cedric Bertelli

"Let's start talking about this idea of disruptive emotional patterns. Can you help us understand what they are how they manifest in our lives. Yeah absolutely so what we call a disrupted emotional pattern basically. It's all those emotions that keeps on coming back in our life disrupt the as such as exciting depression phobia anger all those things and my work. The beginning was to focus on. Where do they come from. How does a brain construct are emotional difficulties and it's all started with that with the with the mindset of he find the stan how the brain emotional pattern then. We can probably understand how the brain deconstruct can deconstruct naturally disruptive emotional pattern and this is what we do at the emotional health institute. That's amazing. actually. There's some incredible optimism in what you just said right there because what you're saying is for those of us who experienced anxiety or people who experience depression anger these emotions that feel like. They almost overtake us. Like they're all consuming that it's possible for us to change that. That's what i'm hearing in what you're saying yes absolutely it is completely possible it is completely possible. That's incredible okay so I love digging into the background. In the brain. Science of of how all of this operates because i think yes it's fine just for an intellectual pursuit but it's also great to understand the mechanism through which something like this occurs because when we experience say anger especially we get extremely angry to the point that it does feel all consuming. Maybe were saying or doing things that we don't like or that later. We regret when that happens. Our first instinct is to get down on ourselves to get self deprecating to say. I can't believe i did that. I'm so horrible. Terrible person but many times. And i'm curious if this is one of them when we dig into what causes or what leads to that type of response you find that. It's it's not that you're just a terrible person at heart. It's that a very normal. Natural thing has occurred given your circumstances given your

It's it's it's easy to easier to stay tethered to stay tethered difficult times. If you know what you're connected to train yeah. It gets back to ask the question. Why is it that way and someone says well. it's been that way while no we just. We just proved. It doesn't have to be that way. So what do we want it to be. And those are very important conversation. Some of which are be it had. But in many cases i think they're fairly superficial. Pakistan funds fact or opinion

"There's a half of our country right now that's living in a air quotes, reality that doesn't exist. Not kidding. This isn't a comic book. It's not a joke. It's a real problem. We have a Country of three constitutional Republic of 330 million people, plus And in order to make serious decisions about serious things. Just go down the list taxes, school health care, abortion guns, the Constitution, civil liberties, whatever that may be, in order to make serious decisions seriously. People like the citizens of the Constitutional Republic largely are outside of the radical left rape. We have to be able to make decisions. And in order to reach decisions, we should agree on a collective set of facts, not opinions. Okay, If you think we should support the government of Pakistan, more or less is an opinion. However, the amount of money say dish using this example in foreign policy, because it's an easy one. However, the amount of money we give to the government of Pakistan is a fact that is not an opinion. Now. I get it for the listening audience. You're like, Okay, that makes sense, Stan. But to the radical left, they don't seem to understand the difference between the two. You can say to you How? Listen, I don't think we should support. You know Pakistan with this amount of money, But the amount is a fact you agreeing with the amount we should give is an opinion. So how is it that we have half of America or close to it? That hated Donald Trump can't stand conservatives. How is it that they've come to exist in come to exist in reality where they don't have a grasp of what a fact is anymore? Folks, it's happening right now. Now we played this yesterday and bringing me not to pile on Brian Stelter, but he it's any easy target the pile, of course of CNN, but he has a show called Unreliable sources reliable. So when you get to him on CNN, and he was just the opening segment we covered yesterday, 11 seconds off Where Brian Stelter hilariously it's CNN says it's US conservatives in the listening on each other. That where the part where the problem we live in an alternate reality and thank God there's a media to set it straight. Check this out. You said the state of American Democracy is well, it's even worse than you think. So how should the reality based press cover an alternative reality? GOP? Right, And that's not a joke. He actually said that this is the same guy again who promoted the collusion hoax. The Russian bounty hoax. The China was a the Chinese, you know, coronavirus that emanated from China was it had to be naturally current couldn't have been man made. I mean, all these hoaxes were promoted by CNN, MSNBC and networks like Brian Stelter resides on now. They were all proven false. So how is it that they live in a reality? That's not real. And how is it that they're just quote discovering things that both you and I and the listening audience knew the entire time the conservatives out there. How does this alternate reality? Remember Bizarro Superman World's gonna come up a lot. I was a big comic book fan as a kid member Bizarro Superman. Everything was upside down backwards. Bizarro Superman was super ugly. How is it that the modern liberal lives in Bizarro Superman land? How is that? How was it that they live in The George Costanza Seinfeld episode. Remember that episode when Costanza does everything backwards and imagines and magically works out for him? This is the Seinfeld episode, like a stance that does everything backwards. Costanza. Stelter hadn't even done that, but it doesn't work out for them ever. He curses out George Steinbrenner and he gets fired, not a promotion. How is it that they've come to live in this alternate reality? Well, let's go to group one. First that contributes to this alternate reality they live in and why they believe things that aren't true. And why believing these things, Ladies and gentlemen, is getting people killed. This is not a joke. People are dying. Because of a reality liberals live in that does not exist. It's fake.

No Ryan bro early because winter and now superstar, we're all we all know name household name running rally, right? Playoffs. He had tremendous. I think I think that. Hockey has to be the hardest sport to predict during the playoffs harder than even baseball because you can maybe predict the Josh Beckett or Madison. Bumgarner is gonna make an appearance and be dominant. How the hell do you guess who's going to be the hot goalie? He did you took the blues based on goalie based on goaltending. Yeah. Absolutely did. Two arrests was mazing postseason. He may be Toko. Efi rask. It's difficult to predict because the puck is exactly. All right. It's a it's a tricky biscuit, and applying on ice on swords. No less stand. Do you follow any hockey at all? I mean I follow the scores. Yeah, that's about it. I didn't watch it, though. Okay. On put it on the ball. I didn't watch games. I should've watched game seven. I forgot it was onto becoming okay? Was anyone like me were they really they really went into that game. And they sat down. They turned on the TV and you know what? I'm going to watch this hockey game and then after ten minutes you just change the channel bullet to nothing three nothing. That's when you started the chains. At Chan I want because I know we're going to be talking about it. I just wanna watch it. But then I just like the guys grocer games on. And it's just that the week. The Bruins outshot, the blues Trotha four. Yes. And blues into the into I love the counter attacking style that the blues play. But it also made for disappointing game seven because they went up to and I was like there's no scoring on this offense. I need to rewind though because on the you know after in the aftermath of game seven best two words in sports, although I think we can make put this on the poll game lebatardshow better to words in sports. Game seven or Super Bowl Super Bowl is kind of like all the game sevens, but together so Super Bowl or game seven but I just want everyone to absorb that not only after the Stanley Cup final. Do we have STAN Van Gundy in standing Gundy, has decided to channel his inner stugatz where he's like, yeah, I follow hockey and then it becomes. Yeah. But I forgot game seven was on last night. And I didn't watch. And so I asked you guys that lebatardshow can you be someone who actually follows hockey if you forgot about game. Mm seven of the Stanley Cup..

"The thing. He what's the theme? Stan three point shooting. What's happened to it here in the playoffs? Let's do it. Maybe third-best nugget from STAN Van Gundy is in the first round of the playoffs. Half of the team shot better than thirty six percent from three in the team who shot best from three one seven of the eight series in the second round only one team Houston shut thirty six percent from three and the team who shot best from three one only one of the four series. Good third nugget s the second best. Now. Get from STAN Van Gundy is. Several of the brightest stars in the league were part of the second round shooting drop-off Steph curry shut fifty percent from three in the first round and only twenty eight percent in the second round Damian Lillard dropped from forty eight percent to twenty nine percent quiet Leonard from fifty four percent to thirty three percent and Kyrie Irving from forty two percent to twenty two percent. Gets better hundred teams or playing when you get the Orlando's outta there. At stance seems thrilled about and the final best nugget. The best nugget from STAN Van Gundy is one volume shooter has bucked the trend and continues to shoot better. And better the bucks. Chris middleton. Shut thirty eight percent from three in the regular season. Forty six percent versus Detroit in the first round. And forty seven percent in the second round versus Boston. He has also seen his scoring increase from eighteen point three to nineteen point two game. In the first round in nineteen point two in the second round. The rare guy who has gotten better as the competition has increased. Where do you rank the sports photograph? I'm talking about STAN like what what when you think of the best sports photos ever taken you think of what will again, my favorite because it was my favorite fan moment. Was you know, Pudge Rodriguez holding the ball up in two thousand and three on the play the plate against the giants in the playoffs. But you know, the one from yesterday is certainly going to be one of the best ever. How could Joel Embiid have defended that any better? I saw Bruce Bowen locking it. Bruce, Bowen was criticized. I may throw that thing into the third round. That's how you defend it better did. Well, that's the only way. Really? I mean, he could have maybe not let him get down there to his right hand tried to making change direction. But I don't think he had the angle to make him go anywhere else. You know, he did what he could do. He got a great contest up on the shot. And the guy made a great shot weekend. Survey ships next.

"Stan. On our Friday news quiz. If you want to start picking who you think's gonna win use hashtag and on Twitter. Sam has unfortunately injured herself again, and I believe she's still in the hospital recuperating from being thrown off of a horse. Don't know exactly when she'll be back yet, she is recovering and doesn't look like she will require any surgery at this point. At least the last that we we heard we are encouraging you to tweet at her well wishes if you want include something some are related unless you're like, a friend of the show, Jim Madsen who doesn't know what is. Nice little. This little gift from up at so that works Vilma. Oh, that's right. So if you don't want to to whatever you like to had severe use the hash AT and T and give her a give her well wishes it's her it's her yearly trip to the hospital. She has her own our biannual name plaque on the door. They just wait for her to show up. They don't she doesn't. She will soon. Right. Joining us. Now Representative Tom Emmer good morning, sir. Hey, good morning guys. How are you today? Doing great. I'm in Minnesota. I'm rolling down the road. It's been beautiful day. So we know the government can fix anything. What can you introduce in Washington to keep Sam from getting injured on the horses and the animals that she tends to on a daily basis. Well, the problem we're going to have is, you know, the horse has rights to. So we're gonna start if we're going to start down that road. That's the slippery slope to probably a big fight between the the horse community. I m people so I don't know that we're going to be able to do much about that Representative Tom ever. I have so much respect for you. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you were so fast dog that it was just like, boom. There was no delay whatsoever. In your response to my ridiculous inquiry. ASMAR's? No, I'm just another one of those. So it listen incident. One one heck of a week, man. I really drew, and I were talking about it. We've been talking about all week long on this. No, collusion Friday, but the ramifications we're going to be feeling the ramifications of the results of this investigation and the mullahs report for a political ramifications the cultural societal ramifications for a long long time. Yeah. I agree. I'm I'm gonna tell you. I Andrew knows this. And I don't know John if we've ever had this discussion. But I I like to have a debate about ideas about facts about the perspective, political perspective, I don't like to bring personalities into it. But in this case, I just I can't leave out lying, Adam Schiff. This guy is a grease ball. He's a wire you got the Muller report that comes out of almost a week ago. I it's delivered a week ago to to the attorney general I he scours that thing for two days and comes out and says, no collusion. No, obstruction of Justice done. Oh, no. It's not done. Adam Schiff is apparently going to try and continue to propagate the lie that he started by the way. Nobody's putting all this together. Let's go back at fusion GPS with help from a an FBI guy and his wife who worked at fusion. EPS hired by the Clinton organization campaign organization can try and create a false narrative attacking Donald Trump is being somehow connected with the Kremlin. I guess what they didn't get it out before the election. So they use it after the election to try and undermine the administration. Go after them, we didn't need a special investigator. I that bothered me from day one, but we got one, and these guys told us that this Muller was the gold standard that he'd be able to do everything that, you know, the public couldn't Adam Schefter, greasy Adam Schiff has been telling us, I think the the president has another name for him. But he's been telling us from day one. It's collusion. There's evidence in plain sight, just what you also if he's going to say Muller is the gold standard. I was relying on this report. It didn't give him what he wants. And what did he do? Just goes. Johnny says, no it's there I'm gonna he's adding staff. He's going. He's calling. It a surge research team to look at this stuff shoot twenty five million dollars. You took two years. It just isn't there? And these guys are hell bent on destroying this country, in my opinion, because they're destroying faith, which was already in question of Americans in our government institutions what it's got to be frustrating. I mean, I can hear the frustration in your voice there. But you know, you're I don't know what it must be like to try to actually get things done in that house as it stands right now. When you've got, you know, all the high profile members of the majority seemed to just be out there. Advocating and pushing forward all of these crazy ideas and all of these distractions that have nothing to do with actually getting the work done. I mean, it's so strange surreal world when Nancy Pelosi is coming across as the most sane member of the democratic majority right now, but she really is who would have ever get that Nancy Pelosi would be the moderate right in her in her party. She has actually. Muck. The again, we don't like the name names. But the the speaker in fact is the young lady from my from New York, she's the one that sex setting by the way talk about a poster child encourage yesterday in our financial services committee. We had a housing building they were bringing through. So it was it was germane to the housing issue. Her green new deal requires that we have to completely rebuild every building in this country have zero euro greenhouse gas emissions within the next ten years. I said that Sean Duffy purposely put an amendment out that would have required uniform. Yes. This is a good idea or no, it's a bad idea and MS Cortez, the young lady from New York that is propagated this. She didn't bother to show up. She stayed away from the committee hearing. There was a vote on her new green deal. I hear what about this. They're complaining about the Trump budget right now. And I'm sorry. I usually I'm more positive. This is getting a little out of hand, they're complaining about Trump's budget. Take a look at what they're they're up against the chairman of the democrat house budget committee. Put a budget together because they can't agree within their ranks. They they've got so many factions, and quite frankly, you've got some people that are way out of step with the American public. You know, whether it's I you'll Han Omar in Minneapolis, or it's proceeded to leave in in Detroit, or it's this occasional Cortez in New York, they do not represent mainstream America. And yet, they are the ones driving the agenda of the new socialist democrat party in Washington DC, and you're right. It is pretty frustrating. Representative Emmer curious to get your thoughts on the release of the Muller reported a lot of people have come out and said they want the full report to be released. President Trump has as said that he's fine with it where where do you stand on the full release at least as you know, what what can be released by law. Andrew we voted a couple of weeks ago. I think that's true. I mean, it was four hundred twenty zero. Whatever in the report, we could keep in mind. This report is over three hundred pages. And you're going to hear the left start pounding this drum people like lion. Adam Schiff are going to continue to say three hundred pages. And there was only a ten page summary that calls this whole thing into question. Well, wait a second. I mean, you know, that the report the horror Horowitz report on secretary Clinton's emails was over five hundred sixty pages. Have we seen that whole report? The the commission report on the nine eleven commission was over five hundred sixty seven and by the way, the star report on President Clinton was over almost four hundred fifty pages. And I guarantee at the issue is really dangerous here is there's a information in this report that is gathered through our intelligence committee community. And if you if if you start disclosing some of that you show what they're doing and how they're sourcing and that can be very damaging. The US national security interests. So there are reasons that some of this information has to be redacted or protected at least for a period of time. But believe me, they're nobody's interested in hiding anything. And now you listen to this guy yesterday we called for his resignation. There is no reason that he should continue to leave which is supposed to be a non-partisan unbiased intelligence committee, which is starting to sound like an oxymoron congress. But there's no reason that he should be running this committee with this doubling down on something that's already been proven to be a false narrative yesterday. He suggested that they just having a business relationship in in. Russia, namely, building hotels is collusion. That is not the definition in. That is not there's no evidence to support. What collusion actually is. So now, he's trying to create a new definition of collusion continue. Very damaging and destructive narrative that just doesn't exist in back. Can you Representative Tom Emmer can you provide a little bit of perspective on how much time is or isn't wasted? In what you do in DC when when when dealing with we'll say things like the Muller report or things like the green new deal and hearings on on these types of issues is there is there a level of of real tangible work that's not able to be discussed, and and and talked about because of all the time that's spent on these other sort of I don't wanna say answer Larry items because they are things that need to be talked about. But I'm just curious to get a little bit of perspective. If if if there's a lot of time being wasted. When some real work could be could be getting done. The work. We're doing right now for our constituents to the state of Minnesota is with the actual bureaucratic institutions of the administration. You know, if you've got an issue in the agriculture area, we're working with the agriculture department. If you've got a an issue, for instance, mining northern Minnesota, we're working with the department of the interior were working with the US forest service. That's where we're getting the most solid substantive results for the people that we work for right now the biggest frustration and it goes right to your question where the problem existed timewasters, and you're right. It's not a waste of time. Totally because this goose socialists to go with this country. It's so you have to have this discussion publicly about these crazy ideas ninety percent tax rates I turning Medicare into some some socialized medicine thing where they the government's gonna start deciding who's worthy of..

"I am now betrayed STAN. Van gundy. I didn't get a good shot of him because he was moving around and stuff, but he was feeling bad Mike because he had publicly declared that he would wear the David Stern shirt if we send it and so he called me FaceTime me. And he may or may not have been wearing the shirt, I could totally tell, but it I took a picture of him without him knowing it because I think I think STAN Van Gundy needs to be publicly shamed for this. I don't even care what he thinks of it either. By the way, like if this Rex our relationship, then so be it. I got no problem with that. Because I always leave the van Gundy's to be people who were truthful, especially their parents like, and Jeff and STAN have been stained by him promising to do this for us and then walking it back because he's afraid of thin-skinned David Stern. So my brother is stained by me going back on my word, the Van Gundy name, all of Gandhi name all van Gundy's sly kids, everybody am I wrong. Yes. Your kids. Everybody. Am I am? I wrong. You want to defend yourself because you sound like a broken trying to defend myself. I did go back on my word. I decided that that was not something that I should do. But I don't think that should affect anyone other than me. It's not how it works on his shows. No. Oh, wow. We just put her on television. I I think that's pretty incriminating. Mike, Mike that looks pretty incriminating to me the shot. I got him. Also gonna put it on Instagram. So you can weigh in Lubbock toward show. All right. Yeah. So the betrayal as are just hanging me out to dry here. That is correct. And you will eat it. Let's talk some basketball with STAN Van Gundy. This is what I want. I want to give you some numbers. Here's two guys because the Boston Celtics were almost finals good last year or quarter away from being finals good last year. They added Kyrie Irving it's been season of no fun at all the Philadelphia. Seventy Sixers standing and Gundy last week told us that's as good as starting five. Now, you add Tobias Harris. That's a good starting five as anybody. But the the warriors and yet Boston every damn time. They play Philadelphia they wipe the floor with them. And Furthermore, Joel Embiid was a physical specimen of uncommon size and strength. He gets neutralized all the time by the old man game of Al Horford. Listen to these stats because Boston is ten and two in his last twelve games against Philadelphia. You saw that without kyri and Gordon Hayward. They dismissed Simmons and Embiid and five games in the play on might say, the Celtics have their number so Horford when when Joel Embiid is guarded by Horford. He is twenty-five of seventy when he's guarded by anyone else. He's forty eight for fifty two. Stan what the hell man Al has Joe number. What the hell no question that. And that's really the reason for the for the mismatch between the two teams. Now, I think Brett Brown made the point after the game. And he's absolutely right. It's a whole new team for the Sixers, and they haven't been together at all. So I don't think that they're necessarily overly worried about having to play them in the playoffs..

"I don't want oversell this because I haven't heard it yet. But if you're just joining us, STAN Van Gundy is a liar. Stan Van Gundy. We mailed him. A tee shirt to wear today that is of David Stearns face with a clown knows. We were talking about this during the Super Bowl when barstool and they've got that shirt with Roger Goodell and a clown nose. And we didn't know if Sean Payton was wearing that under his shirt, and when we were having that conversation, I believe STAN Van Gundy promised that he would wear that shirt. So we have mailed it to him. And now he is just I mean, just a chicken just it's terrible. And so Mike, I don't want oversell this, but Stu gods? What should be the stakes here on? If we provide proof that STAN Van Gundy did indeed agree to do this. He's gotta wear it for multiple shows instead of just one show. I mean, that's I think that's fair. Right. Gotta wear for a week. Gotta wear it everywhere around and they're all platforms. There have to be stakes to this whereabouts. No matter what you play. I'm not gonna trust you because you guys Dr audio all the time as evidenced by really hot Brooks is an idiot. Said you said it again did not. You guys are the worst. All right. Well, no, we're not the worst. You're the worst the worst word. And so let's Mike I want to know what the stakes are though, there have to be consequences. He can't be. I can't believe STAN Van Gundy as gods like weasel trying to get out of this bet that he already agreed to stick. Insult Stu guts. Because of me. I mean, you were just the catalyst. He was going to do that. Anyway, it's the formula. Stan don't they? Without further ado, here's the undocked possibly if we were to send you a shirt of David Stern with a clown nose. Would you wear it on ESPN news for us? Yeah. I probably would. I'm not worried. I certainly wouldn't be worried about offending David Stern. I mean, who's one of the most thin skinned people that I've ever been around. That is doctored staying, no, that's not dot. I remember that. You're right. All right. So now where are we now? We've got you bought, you know, for the moment, I've had time to think about it. I I wouldn't do it. Now. Let's listen type probably okay. Take that out. Mike. I want to point out the hypocrisy of this. Because Mike, I want you to listen to STAN Gundy in his own words, not doctored saying flatly, he's not afraid of David Stern..

"You can't have you can't have a bio pic unless you have the people who can pull off the subjects were very important to tell that story. And I have to say, you know, that's one of the things people gonna be talking about how will this Steve Coogan and John C Reilly who play standing law respectively? How would they pull pull their parts off and up in the moment? I saw the trailer thought. Okay. Steve Coogan got it down, man. Yeah. At STAN laurel, Steve Coogan is a great impression is anyway. But I never questioned him as STAN laurel man, light is elected character because one take it and take as much makeup. May they poked his ears out a little bit more take much makeup? But like how much weight he lost? He he's he's a Macy's it from the Steve Coogan, I'm used to member for semi trailer. It's a long time to recognize that was even him. Really? Yeah. Yeah. You know? I didn't even I didn't even think about that. Because I, you know, I'm because he became the characters so much to me that I just I was watching STAN laurel. Yeah. I was I was quite impressed. I even the subtle moments the way he talked. He completely embedded in bodied. Stan laurel? Yeah. Yeah. You know, like, I say maybe laws way, maybe they've made his ears to Gallo bit more. But what's great about Steve Coogan? This is that Steve Coogan he has to play. If anybody knows STAN laurel bahory, I I'm not saying I grew up with this like, I'm a huge fan on aficionado something. I mean, I did grow. Watching a lot of how rotel Roach is the guy who gave us things like these old shorts like the little rascals and Harold, Lloyd. Yeah. In laurel. And hardy I grew up watching these man, and I love the here. Yeah. When they come on the day that come out to cartoons. Something kids really got into them later. Yeah. I'm wondering how much audience even knows them because it was like the three stooges who had they had the child audience coming on in the morning. Yeah. Afternoons and everywhere, but learn hearty mostly movies. So that was something that you kind of had to catch on the weekend. Yeah. Yeah. And I remember like Sundays on the middle of the day on Saturday midday movie, something neighbor show, STAN an Oliver. Laura hardy short, and so if the million with them are if you're not all of her album hardy was like he was the he was the fat one. You know, he was the one that was he was the one that was always getting exasperated mad because STAN laurel was he was he was quiet, and he was almost kinda shy kind of meat, but he was the bumbling. He was always getting them into trouble. That was the phrase sudden, another fine mess you've gotten me into. And. You dog? He looked mentally. Yes. Sometimes lost its own world. Well, all of stared at him like. But you're not even gonna look over here. They know. They would get into they would tear up shit. They would cause kind of trouble and STAN low just being like, I don't even know, right? Hi. Opioid. What's going on with you, man? But but they so. But like like a lot of these things go STAN laurel was the one was doing a lot of writing. He was the one that's creating a lot of material. He was the one that was the business guy behind it. And so what you had here with Steve Coogan plan that role is that you had a guy who had to be physically funny headed physical gags..

"All the time. Dan, lover most love in the world. Libertas show with this two guys on ESPN radio. We liked to recap the day we've had by going through the polls. And remembering some of the arguments, we had you can tell what kind of show we've had basically just by listening to and reading the polls we didn't get to one yesterday. So at lebatardshow, Instagram and Twitter, one of the things you can find on Instagram is either STAN Van Gundy, doing live QNA's or me and Billy finally paying that grid of death punishment. What can we tell the people? It's billion. I find. What what can we tell the people about our project this morning where we were trying to recreate the homo Roddick rocky three scene where rocky finally beats Apollo in a foot race. And then they frolic merrily in the water in a way that was sensual. So during football season, we do this thing. Sometimes when we don't forget called the bucket of death where he pig helmets out and losing team you have to do a punishment. So this is one of the punishments, me and dance elected tandem punishment. We're have to recreate a rocky scene where we're training running next to the ocean. And today we did that in the morning and coming soon, you will see way too many angles of it in HD, and it'll be horrific stand. You know, what we're talking about? Do you know the scene that we're not the scene? Yeah. Okay. So we're we're going to recreate that. And and I don't want to give away too much. But spoiler alert I came home from what we were doing. And I was told you have a bunch of sand in your beard. I couldn't get it out after showering because I'm not going to say any more at lebatardshow, Instagram and Twitter. What do you have? There's got who is the best man in the middle. For those bowls teams. Your choices were Bill Cartwright Bill Wennington will Purdue or Luc Longley. Go head stand pick. Wow. I'll take I'll take Luke Longley. Wow. Forty two percent of the audience said Luc Longley. I apologize for not getting know that your beer, I'll be better Nixon. "If you want more, STAN Van Gundy in your life, and you want serious basketball analysis. He's very good analytics he can do just about anything. If you wanna talk baseball with him go do. So now Instagram Allison is running the account. If you don't want to be here for what we're about to do. Which is the biggest story in sports today. Seth wicker sham ESPN the magazine does this as well. As anyone does like what he does. He comes into the organs Asian. He gets all the juicy stuff that everybody doesn't know about. He leaves you organization. They yell and deny it. And then he's right about everything. How that one work? I think they're going to start not allowing him to come to the wicker. She wants to God said before why does anyone agree to allow him into the facility? It's it's an excellent question. So the Browns what would you say Seth and thank you for joining us. What would you say are the three best items in your story? Hey, thanks guys was. It was very flattering. You know? Look, I think it interested me once you saw Baker Mayfield emerged as this force in the NFL, this precocious sort of forced I was like, oh my gosh. Like, you know, is this gonna is he going to be the latest version of red, right? Eighty eight and the drive in the fumble and the shot, and so I really wanted to try to get inside. And learn what it's like to work for Jimmy and he has on and try to determine as best. I could whether you know, they their methodology the way that they do football is going to test the way is gonna test what a young quarterback interest sent. And so that's what I was interested in learning about and in the process of under about a lot of things I learned to win. You know, Hugh Jackson was told he was fired. He told John Dorsey and Jimmy has to get the f out of his office. I learned that general manager Sashi Brown nicknamed Obama by Jimmy has I'm which you know, offended a lot of the people in the building. Even though he didn't mean it that way. And you know, I think there's a lot there, including, you know, they broadcast poured ones in I. In the building. That was a good story. Who gave you that story where to come from? How excited were you? When you got that story was the feeling inside you as a journalist better than the actual watching of the poor. Oh, yeah. But you know, it was an accident. I mean, it could have happened it numerous places, but it was one of the things that just sort of happened to the Brown. It couldn't have in the history more. The only place that that could have happened. Probably right. And I'll be right. So Seth what's it? What's it like working for Jimmy has the discover he seems like he's just a re this is the rich guy's toy. And he's not saying he eats hard boiled eggs in front of people because he's a rich guy, and he can and he throws the shelves at their face. I think that when he would hit when you know. So he he inherited the family business and turn it into this, you know, massive chain. And then you know, he bought the team everything seemed like he was going. Okay. And then six months after he bought the team, the business was indicted. He was leading a meeting when FBI and IRS officials rated the building. And you know, I think that changed Jimmy is an owner because he had been a minority owner at the Pittsburgh Steelers, which was all about patience and stability. And as the family business became something that he could no longer, you know, do when he ended up selling. Most of the shares goes the controlling shares in it. He began to grip the Browns more tightly, and I think that like when businessman come. From outside. And they buy a team. I'm not trying to feel sorry for billionaires here, especially one whose company are under after you know, we're under FBI investigation, but it is hard and they're not used to the criticism..

"That last little sound there that changes that rejoin and sounded a little bit sensual in nature from STAN Van Gundy is replacing what used to be there, which is the famous STAN Van Gundy, quote from you know, ten years ago around here, we've been doing it show for a long time, we misrepresented him badly one time by editing together. What sounded like STAN Van Gundy? Very sternly calling Scott Brooks an idiot. Stan Van Gundy was fine with that back. When Scott Brooks wasn't an idiot. But now, the Washington Wizards wanna trade everybody, and STAN Van Gundy doesn't want his name attached anymore to Scott Brooks is an idiot. Do I have everything there? Right. Santa my misrepresenting anything you're being the sensitive coach. It was. Okay. When Scott Brooks was winning. But it's not okay anymore. We've been playing this sound for ten years. Ten damn years. Scott Brooks is an idiot. Great great sound. I don't know if he ever confronted you about it. He should have because we played the hell out of Scott Brooks is an idiot. And then you demanded that we took it down as soon as he went sub five hundred Scott Brooks is an idiot. First of all, I didn't command. I just said it's not I didn't like it. It's not as funny. You know? I mean when when Scott Brooks is winning sixty five percent of his games. It's clearly a joke. And when the when the wizards are struggling, you know, if it's people who haven't listened for a long time. How about we handle the funny? How about we handle the funny? You take care of just making flammable statement, you might check the coaches, we'll handle the fight. Here's the point. I didn't make that statement ever. That's not true. Listen, I don't know what's happening here. But this guy clearly propaganda king liar. There is no disputing. You. Didn't say this Scott Brooks is an idiot is. That. Say that absolutely put that together. I did not put it together thing. That's the only thing on my side in that that people will believe it is. They know how crazy you guys are. So you know, they will then we should be allowed to hang it. Because honestly, there is nothing that proves to me that the wizards are idiot proof in leadership nothing. They're not allowed to have anything. I don't know about that. But Scott's not an idiot. Scott's a damn good coat. Oh, there's. Places sound bite for that history. Will prove that out. I mean, the guy is is a great winning percentage. You know? So that when you're going to have a hard time Arctic sit next open, we'll close with Scott Brooks is a really good coach. And that's the kind of radio we need around here. Let's pivot from STAN Van Gundy. Coach protectors and Van Gundy into other matters because it has been really funny this morning to read the information coming out of Cleveland Browns camp that includes porn a federally indicted owner who escaped the federally indicted chargers behaving in a way that I imagine Jerry Jones behaves in the shadows. But you never hear me just referred to one of his employees as Obama Jimmy has them would apparently have these meetings with team brass and he's eating a hardboiled egg the entire time leaving shell casings on the floor. It's one of the more appalling and rich people things I've ever seen. Quicker sham reported this story. We gotta get it in front of STAN, and we got to get it in front of Stu gods. Because this is the story that people are going to be talking about today like the Browns. I mean, they were even more of a mess than you think they were. It's a juicy headline like all of it. He description of the article how long is it though. Well, that's the problem out here. Four minutes before the show started blaming Lorenzo for something as Danny how much time was in your segment, which is always a minute and didn't read anything sometimes it's fifty sometimes it's a minute twenty. I mean, you never know. That's why ask them so upset was set the timing of this article, and I know what sort of position as Baker can pull us through all of this. But as a Browns fan, your concern is is this going to drag this unicorn down to so do you think that Hugh Jackson actually told has lem get the bleep out of my office..

I couldn't even make out the words it was about handers baby hamsters and wheel of idea. I'm on hamster is that oh God bread gave birth and had little hamster babies in the hamster wheel. We'd a plastic cage the plastic hamster. Thank you. It was a good story. Well, told let me have another mass taker. Unprofessional. Teams. Sports that seemingly wrong. No. No. Much. They coming aloft and stuff. That's an excellent stores and any guesses on who that is. That's probably me his coaching one of the most unprofessional and unfocused teams anywhere in sports that seemingly was thrown together with no thought of character or what it takes to win games whatsoever. And they are quickly becoming a stock. Gosh, more of the Dan labor Dr show with stugatz..

"I've never heard STAN laugh harder than he did at a story. I told him about my father the other day. We'll get to that in a second. But what is the stat of the day? Stan, okay. Dan. This was sent to me yesterday by our friend boobs. Sean be the reds Joey Votto has seen twenty seven thousand six hundred sixty eight pitches over six thousand seven hundred sixty four career plate appearances he has never popped out to the catcher the pitcher more the first baseman. It's hard to believe legitimately is hard to believe yellow yellow has similar type of stuff because they make contact or they swing and miss Yeli. The mass taker you may have seen this show, I don't know stand because on Wednesday night, you're watching all those credit. Chicago shows have you seen this show. The mast taker the up the mess singer because we've got a mass take around. Here. But the mass singer is something that has gotten a lot of popularity somebody Billy thinks that what is it the deer that you think is Terry Bradshaw. Oh, the deer is Terry Bradshaw. But it's not a thinking thing, here's Terry. And does this kind of television. Have are you interested in any way in not at all? Okay. So we will push you to the side, and what an and debut this segment about the mass take what do you have here, Billy? All right. So stand I feel like you haven't given us a fair shot. You don't exactly know what's going on. So this is how it works. It's a singing competition in which they get celebrities singers athletes, just people of note, they come out, and they perform essentially karaoke. But you know, what some people don't get a fair shake because they're judged on their appearance or what they're known for. So they come out basically as mascots, and they perform, and we can see what Anjali voices they have. And they'll give you clues. And you have to guess who it was now last night was week two of the mass singer. And as a tremendous show last night featured rabbit versus. Alien rabbit right now, I'm telling you pretty sure it's Joey Joe down Joey Fatone versus alien. I have no idea who the hell alien is every time they have like a singer come up. They'll have like the women's singer in particular, for whatever reason they all seem to have a lot of sisters. And everybody's always guessing it's a car. Dash. I don't know if it was an instruction to have people think the Kardashians are participating, but it's not going to be crashing. I'm telling you, we're now then round two that was my giving you the signal at any point that you care to to land the plane or you could just talk get out of here. I'm going somewhere else. I'm going to see a little cruel right there. I'm going to Stephen a Smith sound I'm going to see we through that entire setup. Let's get a mass taker. Okay. So there's like mass singer. So we're gonna play a mass take. All right. We go to instant review. And and we find out that Billy wasn't a penalty. Go head Billy. All right. So round two was pineapple versus bag pineapple versus raven, and my friend Nick's wife a net thinks that raven is Ricky lake so it could be Ricky lake and then the third round was poodle versus spoiler at the end of the episode. We find out who pineapple lose. And it was Tommy Chong. All right. So we developed the spinoff game called the mass taker on the show where we've distorted the voices of some hot takers, and you guys need to guess who they are. Now, we have six or seven it depends. How much time we have and how good their love ready. Here's the first mass taker. You don't ask for you? Yes. You ask for the minute. You wear for stats. You your dorm any thought of games to your other say, you should you should get a stick. Can you bring up the throat could you need to stay Q zippo? Now, the you'll know jar at all that's God's isn't it?.

"Stan Van Gundy. Our one guest of the week killed it before STAN we had. Professor, Greg, Cody. Professor upset bird pick the two AFC games. AFC playoff games for this weekend. It was charges ravens and colts. Texans. And while I was kind of now wasn't listening would you pick? Again. I picked Houston to beat Indy which isn't an upset but feels like one based on betting trans and I did pick LA chargers to upset Baltimore in Maryland. Which do you think before you telling me the picks, which do you think is the better game eagles bears or cowboy Seahawks? Wow. They're both great game as they should be in the playoffs. But the the more unpredictable game is Seattle Dallas. All right. So let's save that for last. Let's go bears. Eagles. This is the only point spread that's a little bit lopsided Chicago's favored by by six which I think feels like a too much why? Well, because Philadelphia is the defending champion. They've been really good lately, they believe in Nick foles full sort of has that isn't that big of a number at home. Well, it sort of is. I mean, it's it's well beyond the the home field advantage point spread. I mean, you're giving Chicago the homefield and saying that they're an additional field goal better than Philly. A lot of people are picking obviously that's the over under. So a lot of people are picking Chicago to cover. I think she comes gonna win but not cover. I like Philadelphia with the points. I I just think that Chicago's defense leads the league in interceptions their third and sacks. They've got Khalil Mack. I think that they're going to sort of strip the superman Cape from Nick foles and making it. I mean, it could be. But it could easily work the other way around like the way Michael Bennett and let your Cox are playing. They could put a ton of pressure on Trubisky Trubisky could give away a game. You don't know if you're gonna get a bad version of him. No, you don't. And and that's why this too is a fascinating game to me. And why I think it's going to be a close low scoring game. I've got Chicago winning twenty two seventeen but the champion birds upsetting to Kogyo would would surprise me. But it certainly wouldn't shock. Maybe we should do this later. But I just want to get your thoughts on this one though it so it wouldn't shock you. And if Nick foles beats the Chicago defense specifically that is built to make life miserable for a quarterback. And he gets by them the same way he did that last year against Minnesota. Right. Do you think that that magic is back for the I I wouldn't go that far, you know, when you look at the twelve playoff teams to me that the two NFC vice C, you know, top seeds New Orleans and LA Rams are clearly the Super Bowl favorites. And I. You know, I don't think Kansas City in New England have nearly the chance to win it all as I give those NFC teams. So the last game here. Cowboys seahawks. I'm not even sure why you consider it the best of the games. Well. It's the prime time game. I'm not sure exactly if they did the scheduling for this reason. But it's the only primetime game this weekend. Partly for this reason. They're both great. When the lights are on Dallas is eleven three and his fast, fourteen primetime games and Seattle under Russell Wilson is twenty two twenty two five and one in primetime. So those are competing. Stan's school. Greg Cody on ESPN radio..
