"Mean, if you don't believe Alabama and that coaching staff, how about our good buddy pain and his scouting, the pain scouting service was really after him to get the Florida state seminoles were in on that recruitment. Pain wanted him badly. Us in the dinner with pain over a week ago and that's all I have to conversation was on jaylen kee the UAB safety. He goes to Alabama. That's a big loss. I want to faint this is a program to fade. Obviously I'm not alone here because the market's already, they're already going to town against this team. You know, you mentioned the pain grading system. I've been told through my sources, Brad, that it's harder to get a 5 star rating from pain than it is in 24/7 or rivals or the other recruiting services that are out there. So I'm not sure if there's any truth to that particular rumor, but it's something to keep in mind when you look to your player ratings and to your point talking about Jalen key poked around a little bit with some of the guys I know down there in Birmingham. And they said Alabama was absolutely thrilled to land a player that they think is going to fortify their secondary and get right in there from day one. So clearly a massive loss on the back end that a new coaching staff would like to have there to erase some of those potential mistakes when you step up in class on a weekend week out basis. The last team that I kind of wanted to preview with a semblance of a level of deep diving and I say that kind of tongue in cheek as we've glossed over a lot of these teams, but trying to give you at least a little bit of a landscape for what to expect in the AAC would be the temple owls. And we've seen their win total on the move as well. I saw a price of four and a half over minus a dollar, 40 you may know numbers that were a little bit earlier, but when checking before the show this morning, they're already out to 5 overlaying a dollar, 40. And Stan drayton came over and took on a massive reclamation project from rod Carey, and while the offense struggled basically all of last year, there were signs that the defense could trend up late in the year. I actually watch more temple, football than I'm willing to admit during the month of November when some of those games were on. And you never were sure what you were going to get from EJ Warner at the quarterback position, but the defense erased a lot of those mistakes, and they did lose a number of one possession games down the stretch, which for me oftentimes can be a harbinger of things to come in a positive manner. When you look at the temple owls, is there reason to be fully believe in that this team can get back to that? Yeah, I think so. And I go back to last season, not just you in pain, two guys that really respect it in this industry. There were a lot of other people. In fact, I would say temple down the stretch was a poster child for some of the bigger betting groups and individuals that I consider to be sharp. Love this temple team down the stretch. And they rewarded them. They covered 5 of their last 6 games. It was a team that's kind of even off my radar, but they really progressed and got better as the season went along. And they got a lot of talent coming back, 16 returning starters. Kurt Warner's son, EJ Warner, had an up and down season, but still has a freshman. When he completed 61% of your passes and you have a decent touchdown interception ratio, I mean, you'd like to cut down on the interceptions a little bit. I thought he looked fine. I was watching the east Carolina game in the last week. I mean, he more than made enough plays to win that game. So I think this is a buy team and I am part of that early limited money on tempo, at least whatever they could allow me to bet that win total I did take over. Yeah, I look. I mean, Stan drayton was one of those hires last off season that you went scratching your head, you try and how to figure out exactly where he had coached before. But maybe the perfect guy for the job. We know recruiting a temple hasn't exactly been easy. It's a program mired in mediocrity and being at the bottom of the basement in the past. So they fell on hard times after Matt rule left. And when he ended the baton and Jeff Collins, they bottomed out with rod Carey and maybe drayton can be the guy to bring that back to middle of the pack status. And to be a broken record here, Brad, like you've pointed out to us, another team that will benefit immensely from losing the likes of UCF Houston and Cincinnati off their schedule, taking on teams from conference USA. If they're able to get things done, a game that will watch for temple early on in the campaign to see how far they've come, a road trip to piscataway to take on Rutgers. If they're able to pull that game off, I think there's reason to start believing in what the owls can accomplish. As far as the rest of the AC is concerned, I know there are prominent fan bases in Houston that root for the rice owls are in Charlotte that are rooting for the forty-niners, whether it's in Tampa, looking at the USF pools and Alex goal is in his first trip there. Or of course, of course, Kevin Wilson trying to make Tulsa football fun. Something that we haven't seen in the last couple of years. What are some of the things that stand out for those four teams? And I don't think there's a deep dive really required for any of that going on. Deep dive a little bit rice, wink, wink, wait a couple minutes for that, and they might have some actionable advice on rice. Tulsa, I like the Kevin Wilson higher. I also like their quarterback braylon Braxton a young kid that played at the end of last season. He flashed a bunch at the end of last year. They don't believe me. Popping the tape against Houston had a bunch of great throws, good athlete there. The worry is not much experience around Braxton and last I checked Tulsa still hasn't hired defense corner. They hired one. And then he left for another position. What was he there about two weeks? I think. They went the entire spring without a defensive corner. So that's a worry because Kevin Wilson's a great offensive coach and did a lot of great things in Ohio State and did a lot of great things in Indiana, but didn't take defense too seriously at Indiana and that's my concern. We're so far from what I've seen from Tulsa. USF, you know, I don't know much about Alex ghoulish.

"That's wild. And the fact that he had that kind of conviction at such an early age. And look, it turned out okay for him. Rush for 2000 yards for multiple seasons, three straight seasons in high school. He visited all the big schools, all the big coaches, Harbaugh day, Kelly, Lincoln Riley, et cetera but he chose Texas. So why Texas? Yeah, so he forms this incredibly close bond with the Texas running backs coach at the time Stan drayton. Dijon really latches onto him and it's mutual stand right and really latches onto bijan. When coach Jerry came, then everything kind of changed for me because I just knew that he was different, obviously, and just this personality, how he went about things, how big his faith was. There was a spell where it actually goes straight and thought he was going to lose Dijon. Bijan had made a silent commitment to Ohio State and stand drayton says there was only one other recruit in his 30 years as a coach that he felt that bad about losing. And it was CJ spiller. That was how much he loved you John. But obviously he doesn't wind up losing out on him. Bijan commits to Texas and he lives up to his billing. He's phenomenal. He forced 91 missed tackles last season. That's the most in college football. He averaged 3.9 yards after contact, had 8 runs. They went from more than 30 yards, he's explosive. Robinson. Reversing field. Robinson got her step. Robinson turns out that looks and Robinson is in. Touchdown number four for bijan Robinson. Now you see me. Now you don't. You can't catch him. His body control and balance are insane to shared choice who was bijan's position coach for his last year at Texas. Basically, it starts giggling when he describes one of bijan's runs from the Oklahoma game ja season because he says bijan basically looked like he was levitating over the grass. He's on Robinson able to get to the edge. And carries a man with him down to the 21 so, you know, he's just every inch of the 5 star recruit that Texas thought it was getting. He winds up 9th in Heisman Trophy voting last year. So he doesn't join some of the all time Texas running backs that you mentioned. Heisman winners are all Campbell, Ricky Williams, but and I don't think this is a controversial take. Here he absolutely joins them as one of the best longhorns ever. And I want to take a step back and note that he was doing this all as a LongHorn. He was doing this all in Texas when he could have been doing it anywhere in the country at Alabama, or why I was state, USC. And he chose Texas at a time when the longhorns brand had really lost some of its luster. He said outright that Kyle shawwal is better when Texas is good, and he wanted to help the long horns reclaim their rightful spot on college football royalty. That was more compelling to him. That idea was more of a draw to him than a potentially easier road to the playoffs or a national championship. So he has this track record of taking on these big reclamation projects. He wanted to make Texas the Texas again and now he wants to make running backs great again too. What was he like in the community because when I spoke to Steve sarkisian, he talked about just what a great young man he was. Where I've seen him grow is as hard as he works as good as a person that he is. I think I've seen him start to share those qualities with others. I've seen that the leaders start to come out in him from a work ethic standpoint from how to conduct ourselves off the field and he has a lot to give. I know he had a mustard brand. I believe it was called bijan mustards. So we know he's got the sales component to him and the pitch man component to him as you alluded to earlier as well. What

"Turn the news on all day. Did we fix everything Is everything good? Everyone, Everybody's playing nice again. We're all singing Kumbaya Kum Ba ya the recruits going in for coach Sark. Everything is happy coaches and things you're coming in. For our new head coach and everything's okay in Washington D. C. Plenty to discuss from the NFL, including is dead. John Watson trying to be traded. I actually have a big pile of Houston Texans news that we'll get to in a moment of interesting stuff on who gets to attend the NFL Games this weekend, But we'll start today as we were way will most days at least for a little bit. Coach Steve assembling his his coaching staff here. Bo Davis has been secured to be the defensive line coach spent the last year in the same position for the NFL's Detroit Lions. He coached here under Mack Brown right at What do you know about Bo Davis? He's a really good recruiter and a really good coach because he had two stents and Alabama And then excuse me coach with Mack Brown. He's really good, and I think he's a good recruiter. I think it's a really good higher and your higher guy named Bo Davis, who knows the lay of the land in Austin. He knows high school coaches in Texas. And I think it's a good hire by coach Steve Sark s. So this is obviously I mean, this is ah strategic effort that he's making because as we've discussed, he's you know, California Guy Sarkisian is with with no ties to Texas. And so he has to surround himself on that staff with guys who are connected to the state of Texas, right? Undoubtedly, because you've got to get entree into the offices of the high school coaches, because if you don't know the high school coaches in Texas, you're not going to do Anything. No Start doesn't know many Texas high school coaches, and that's why he got Blake Gideon a couple of days ago. And now that's why he's got Bo Davis because that is the key. And, you know, just like every coach since For goodness sakes, Fred Akers. They all say we gotta lock up Texas. We get up, got to get all the recruits from the state of Texas. Well, it hasn't happened the last few years for Tom Herman because too many recruits were going out of state to Ohio State, Alabama to Michigan on the Texas A and M not that's not out of state. That's out of conference. Me too many He was losing too many of the Texas towns, but he was still I mean, until this year, I think, well, the national signing day they had him in 17 or something like that. But he was still doing top 10 classes Tom Herman was with. Do you think that recruiting was really a problem for Tom Harmon? Yeah, I think it was because You don't get a commitment from Quinn Ewers of Southlake Carroll I'm talking about this year. You're right. Two years ago, three years ago, it was It was all fine. But this year, the ship started taking on water to significantly And I think that was, I don't know if it was because of a lack of coat connection with high school coaches, or, you know, connections across the state is because you're losing games that you shouldn't lose. Yeah, You're losing games that you shouldn't lose. And you have coaches coaching against Texas by saying Tom Herman is not going to survive. And then when Krystal content made the statement that he's our coach you then according to Chris, you had players within the program recruiting against time. Herman telling Guys Don't come here. Don't come here. There's a huge disconnect between Quinn Yours and Tom Herman because Quinn yours was on record his. His bedroom was full of Longhorn stuff. He always wanted to be a longhorn, The Brock Amar twins, For goodness sakes. Their dad was one of the legends of the Longhorns offensive line. The mother is even more fervor in about Texas football, and they turned their back on Tom Herman and go to Alabama. There was a huge disconnect between Tom Herman and these recruits writes this starting this year for sure starting mission and do we should we have the expectation that maybe they Sarkisian is able to flip some of those guys back when yours isn't until the 2022 class. Right? Uh, Quinn Years had the common after his game last week, and he's still playing football high school level in South Lake care. He says he still going with this his own guys, so I don't I don't think that will happen. I think it would. It would have been other coaches of Bracken Meyers model might have come here, but I don't. I don't. I don't think I don't think they'll change your mind about Alabama. No, I'm looking at the list of all of the guys who Secu shin, who has nailed down so far. Both Davis Blake getting Kyle Flood There's a whole bunch of other expected targeted names on here. Um, I I don't see a defensive coordinator candidate on here. Chris Ash has not officially been dismissed by the team, right is that Do you think there's a possibility? Chris Ashes back with this team the they'd save some money of Krish Ash was back on the team because not gonna fame three years worth. I keep on seeing the defensive coordinator. Brought for the Arkansas Razorbacks is the guy they're targeting. I would be surprised Zach Arnett. I mean, we're just looking at a huge list of names here. I think his name is flood. I think it's that Kyle flight is is the name of the offensive line coach who signed up yesterday. He's the offensive coordinator. Okay, That's the guy I was thinking. I was thinking of the defense. Yeah, I was thinking of flood, but I don't. I don't. I don't think Chris Ash will be back because you know It's a good old boys situation because coach Sarkeesian New Beau Davis from the time of Alabama and Yeah, you hire for the most part. Your friends who you trust to you believe in their philosophy of coaching, So I mean, unless he has a relationship with Krish Ash, I don't think it's gonna happen. I put it out there just I mean, Steve Sarkisian is an offensive guy on so maybe defense he ends Chris Ash was particularly second half of the year was good for the Longhorns this year. I've said I've seen a bunch of players have been advocating to keep him. Keep him around there. I don't know. I certainly did The saving the University of Texas money That doesn't seem to be something. They care too much about these days. So you're right about that money is no object. Even though it's a pandemic it they don't know that over there. Yeah, Yeah, I don't know if that's gonna if that's going to come into play Stan Drayton is the running backs coach. He's so it's looking. He may be the only one retained from the Tom Herman staff. Do you think there? Is there? Any concern about that that there's a nearly 100% turnover with the staffer? That's just what happens when you change coaches? That's what happens when you change that coaches Jason, That's what happens in that's just That's what that's you know. And here here, the guys that play for Texas second year in a row. They had 80% new coaches this year. Now they're gonna have probably about blue Moon problem about 90%. Maybe more that a 3605 90. If you'd like to get in here, 512836 05 90. I saw a very interesting name who might be the new head coach of the Houston Texans will get to that. It's Jason at Vito Back in just a moment..

"Bass drop supreme lending Tito's handmade vodka, our bank and Sue Patrick. Obviously the big news around the world of college football. Tom Herman is out as head coach for the Texas Longhorns and Steve Sarkisian, the offensive coordinator for the Alabama Crimson Tide is in hired this afternoon to take over. The duties as head coach for Texas. He will be coaching in the national championship next week. We know that so it is kind of a dead period because usually you'd want your head coach to get to work and right away. You want to meet the recruiting trail, but right now it's sort of a dead period so he can stay focused for the national championship and prepare for that, And once it's over, I'm sure he'll be making his way back down to Austin. To get to work a lot of questions. Still around. While that need be answered a whore is guys who who's gonna pick Who's his offensive coordinator? Abuse defense coordinator gonna be? There's already a swamp full of rumors around on who he might pick. Feel which or or quite confusing being will must champ, the former defensive coordinator, Texas a lot of rumors that he might be coming to Austin and I don't think so. Mike Stoops, the foreign defensive coordinator for Oklahoma can't be on higher God that hated Texas become coach of Texas Reese Ash might be sticking around. That would be kind of awkward. How about this? How about a guy who's been coaching alongside Steve's occasion the last few years? Be defensive coordinator. Charlie Strong. Now, that would be the switch roof Switching. How about a guy who's been coaching me? Steve Star occasion to be the offensive coordinator? Major Applewhite. Major Apple. I don't think he's legally allowed to step on the 40 acres more. What about? Well, you know, actually He could. He could be really what I think will must damn it would be strange because at one point he was the I'm gonna put the air quotes here, coach and waiting to take her for Mack Brown, and he kind of got the boot. Um, I would. I would welcome will must ship back with Texas. He's a brilliant coach. He wasn't a good office. He wasn't a good head coach. But the guy is a great coordinator. It just you know that this offseason will be very Entertaining for cultural fans watching How Texas the thing about hiring a coordinator rather than a head coach, you can build coaching staff where when Tom Herman came to Texas For the most part, Texas got Houston's coaches. A lot of the guys came over with Herman. And so now Steve Sarkisian can pick his own guys. He can build up and I know that one of the first I said this in the first segment. A lot of the current Texas players, mainly defensive players were tweeting their vocally and supportive Brian Carrington, coach for Texas. Who's the main recruiter who has great relationships with Ah, lot of the players stand. Drayton, the running back. Coach got a lot of support. There was a lot of Keep Stan Drayton keep Brian Carrington. So I'm wondering if Sarkeesian will usually it's Hey, recruits his friends in approach people He's he's coach with before and money is no object here. That's the thing that's going to be interesting Been to Tom was making a little north of $6 million will make more and see. That's ridiculous. You made that is patently ridiculous. But money's no object over there. This whole higher. Let me get back in again. I wish Steve Sarkeesian the best. You clearly do not like that. You know, I could tell you if I could tell your voice. I don't like the higher I don't know to think it because I think we're trading apples for Apple's Steve Sarkisian. Mediocre it wash sideways Pick. Let me let me finish. Steve Stark Asian was 34 29 in Washington. He was 12 at six at USC before he got fires, drinking for being drunk practice. He was having drinks and practice what his drink is. I don't know what his drink is. But his overall record was 46 35. This is a huge gamble. For the University of Texas and others. This is a huge gamble band. You not to mention that Austin is home to Tito's handmade vodka exact with no drink here, but the thing is to been we've we've heard all this time Christo Katee saying, Oh, Tom Herman's gonna be our coach in 2021. We hear all the time from the regions and people. Oh, we're gonna get a proven champion. Stage starting stage. Stark Asian has not sniffed ID any type Initiative championship. He never wanted to have a ship watching old lawns fixing win one. He's not the head coach. He's a coordinator. He's a coordinator that let me say that again with with an offense three of three of evolves out three of his offensive players are gonna be in New York of the Heisman finalist ceremony. Who's that remind you of Tom Herman. He was a coordinated for Ohio State when they won the national championship. We're getting we're getting Nick Saban Light. Yeah, we got we got urban Meyer. Like with time. Herman. This is the University of Texas. And you're getting a guy who got fired for being drunk at USC. And you're saying oil? Interesting. This is gonna be the greatest star of all time and This is a great investment has burned said, though, if Nick saving Trust the guy, Texas fans have to trust the guy. Why don't we go get next day? If you get this if you get the stamp of approval on Mars said the same thing about time, Herman so MMyers not Nick statement? Yeah, He's a great coach. He's not next week. Seven. It's the Most brilliant mind ever coached college football. You know, it's actually kind of the irony of all this right now. We're watching TV. Right now. We're watching. I was state Matt Campbell Defeat organ and Matt Campbell, his players. They're going absolutely nuts for him right now. And this is a coach who I think probably would have would have been a better fit in Texas. Undoubtedly he would have and he's a winning head coach. He's not an assistant coach. Let's go to the phone lines. John is calling on Lamar. Hello, John. Welcome here on the end Zone Club on K. L. B. J. Hey, I want to let you know that I was lying when I said that I wanted to talk about what the pics will be for Steve when he comes in. What I wanted to let you know is you guys don't have to worry. I heard that Herman is not out. And this phony from Washington. He is he is gonna fail and they're going to go ahead and they're gonna recount all them board of directors. Oh, boy, Your whole thing is gonna just blow up and we'll keep Herman for another couple years, So it's a fraud by now. John. Thank you for the call very much. Yeah, it's this is not like politics back on serious stuff. Matt Campbell did a great job at Iowa State. The Big 12 did a great job in bowl games. I, you know, I hope I grow to like Steve Stark Asian. But right now, this is same is business as usual from the money people in Houston and Dallas. And you have people in power coalesced to the money, people and again we're giving Tom Herman and its assistant coaches $24 million to leave town, and that sounds really, really unseemly. Unseemly in the time of a pandemic, But it gets kind of the thing you know he does have. He has a lot of, you know, incredibly high upside and he is still pretty young, who has upset But you know what? We've seen that before. With Tom Herman? Yeah, Tom Herman. It is almost young and he has a lot of upside, but again, like you said, it's a big gamble here because he's very unproven. You know today, The trend is to get an offensive guru. You want to get the next office of genius? See, that's what we thought. We have a time. Her I know, but it's just like we saw with Tom Hartman to see the flavor of the week right now. Steve Sarkisian. I think we're looking at the flavor weekend. Matt Campbell. We can't text that even we didn't weigh. Don't see him in Austin. Right now we got we got the assistant coach Flavor of the week. We're looking at Iowa State's head coach for the next probably 15 years. Texas. I don't know. Is this gonna be the cycle of 34 years head coach, then move on 34 years to move on. That's the thing that bothers me because we never should've fired Mac Brown and Charlie Strong was a disaster. Nice guy, but disaster Tom Herman. We thought was going to be a great hire. From what he did it Houston from what he did in Ohio State, and it didn't turn out that way. I am just shocked because we've been hearing for the last month that Tom Herman was going to be the head coach at 2021. They win big over Oregon. We see glimpses of be John. Excuse me, Colorado. We see great glimpses of John and Casey Thompson and Josh mourned, thinking Well, maybe he can win with this group. But and then today, boom he's fired. Well, he got his is buyout went down $5 million at midnight last night. Five minutes make probably about $7 million when he sells his house out in West leg. Comanches hit the big old lottery..
