"stallings" Discussed on The Paul Finebaum Show

"We will talk to coach stallings here in just a few minutes, more of your phone calls, more guests later on. It's been a busy day already. A Tuesday. Let's get to the calls and buster is in south Alabama. Hey, buster. Hey, Paul, how are you doing today? We're doing great. Thank you. Yes, I was excited to just turn younger, very excited to coach scholars coming home and it reminded me of a story that involves him to show what a great man he is. I think it's about 1992. I was working in a manufacturing plant in Tuscaloosa and I don't see a customer in North Carolina. I was out on the floor and saw a young man with Alabama hat on. So I wandered over there and I said, young man, what's he doing without diamond head on up here in North Carolina? He's so well. My wife and I had a baby last year. And the baby was sick, had the dance syndrome problem. And he said, and we didn't know what to do. We just struggled. We didn't know what to keep a baby or what. I got a phone call. And it was a gentleman and he talked to me for like 45 minutes. Didn't know who he was. But we talked to 45 minutes, and he ended up changing our outlook online. We kept our baby. And he said, I was just the hang of and I said, who is this? He said, well, my name is Jean song. And he said, he said, I wouldn't come in now, then we had the next day, and I've been to Alabama playing ever since. That is what a great man. That is so remarkable to and by the way, buster, I'm sure that there are many other stories that mirror yours. That's just the kind of man he is. And he didn't look for that publicity. People know this. You know, he's not one of these because he didn't call the guy and say, hey, I'm coach darling. You know, the guy had to get that out of him, and so I always been a coach coach songs fan. And I too, he reminds me so much for coach Bryant and I just want to let people know that today. So I appreciate you taking my call. Now buster, I'll tell a quick story before we get coach on. And this was told very reliably. It's not like some urban legend. He was very concerned years ago about stem cell research. Because of the sun, Johnny. And he happened to be in Washington speaking, and he knew everybody. And I'll tell the story quickly. I think we're about to have more. So anyway, he's they're about to go to the airport and he says, let's go and see president Bush and he literally called somebody that was president Bush's George W. Bush his right hand man. And within 20 minutes he was through the west wing into the Oval Office. Not a conventional person by any stretch. And I ran that story. I told some people a couple of months ago and we were talking about that story in the show. The guy gave me his name, these are a lot of a lot of Texas a and M people connected to the Bush family, obviously, through president Bush, as well as George W. Bush, who did not obviously go to Texas. Okay, it's going to be a couple more minutes before we talk to coach stallings. So let me try James and West Palm Beach. Hello, James. Hi, hey, Paul. How are you? We're doing great. Thank you for the call. Hey, by the way, you're an icon in the context of college football. Thank you. It's an honor to speak with you. I appreciate that. Well, it's true. So the ACC and the PAC 12. I'm in Miami fan down here in Florida. That's also an ACC fan. I don't want to lose Florida state to the and I know that there's the contract is very onerous they're probably not going anywhere, but I have a solution, which I think is a little creative. And it's this. It actually solves the problem for the PAC 12 and the ACC. They merge, right? And so now it's a national conference with the West Coast, the pack coast and the Atlantic coast. Now the big problem, of course, is logistics. How do you move these people? More quickly, because coach is waiting, but the issue is always television and that's where the complications come in. The ACC already has its agreement. By the way, it also has its own network and the PAC 12 has its own network and that's where it would become a major conflict. Thank you for the call. I'm sorry we have to wrap that up. But we have coach stallings on the phone now and it's always such a pleasure people have already been calling in, talking about coach, coach stallings, great to have you back on the program and good afternoon. All good talk to you, my friend. You know, coach, I want to tell you this and a man just called in and I'll tell you the story. He said that years ago, a long time ago now, he and his wife, I believe they lived in North Carolina about could be wrong. They had a down child. And he got a call, and he was talking to this man for about 30 or 40 minutes. Who was helping him and explaining what he had been through in his own life in coach. He said, what did you say your name was? Again, he said, this was like 1992. So I'm Jane stallings. He said, the coach at Alabama said, yes, sir. He did not even know who he was talking to and you had called him and I don't know the background on it, but I just wanted to compliment you. I've heard a million stories like that over the years of the people that you have helped. Based on your life experiences. Well, I appreciate it, Paul, I appreciate you saying that, but anytime I felt like I could help somebody, it was my pleasure to be able to do so.

Dean Cain of Superman Fame Talks About New Film 'No Vacancy'

"Dean Cain is here on the program. Dean Cain, the actor, welcome to the program. Becky Eric happened to be here. Very happy to be here. Well, and you really are the dean Cain that were, you know, that played Superman. I'm not making that one up. No, you are not making that. You're not another dean Cain. No. You're the guy. That's right. People know you. I mean, I know you principally from that series, which is already a while ago. You did the Ripley's believe it or not, series. I mean, you've done all kinds of stuff. So you're sort of a ubiquitous figure in American culture. But I want to talk to you about a movie that we've been talking about it on this program because this is Salem radio, but it's at Salem now dot com. And some of my audience already knows about it. But let me ask you since you're starring in the film. What is called no vacancy? What is the story of the film? Well, the story of the film essentially, it's the story of Cecil Johnson. And TC stallings plays the character. And it's a guy who basically has given up. He's done. He has finished with life. He has a mom who loves him and wishes he would clean up, but just he can't, he can't sort of get away from his demons, which are drug drug and alcohol addiction and he basically even tries to kill himself. Early in the film and fails of that. He's like, I can't even kill myself, you know? So what can I do? And then through a series of events, he ends up at a place where he receives help, a hand up. Not just a handout, but a hand up. And that place happens to be a place that where I'm the pastor. And it's a place where they house or rehabilitate. And take care of the homeless.

If You Don't Get Angry, Something's Wrong With You

"But the reason I'm telling people this and I'm taking your time, John, is because Mario morelo spoke. A lot of people don't know who he is. Ladies and gentlemen, there are just a tiny handful of people like Mario Morello. I've never seen anyone bolder more in tune with what God is saying. I don't say that lightly. And what he talked about, you just got me thinking, John. The level of evil that is manifesting itself in the United States of America right now. When you hear about the government going after an organization like Christians engage dot org and saying, well, we're going to take away your tax exempt status. This is evil. And if you don't get angry at this, something's wrong with you. You're trying to pretend it's not happening. And by the way, that is about the most anodyne little thing you could possibly mention, but I just thought when Mario marlos spoke, he spoke about some of the genuinely wicked things done and there are people in the church convinced that somehow the Christian thing to do is to be quiet or to be nice. I mean, if somebody mutilates your children, are you not going to fight? Are you not going to stand? Are you not going to do? There are things happening that, you know, apart from the literal mutilation of children because of the transgender madness, if you don't speak up, if you don't get angry and say, I have an obligation to fight for what is right and true, the idea that I can't be political. You are absolutely hiding from reality. And I just want to be really blunt folks. God's going to judge us when we are silent in the face of evil. God calls us to speak. And not only will God judge you, I will judge you. I will be in the gulag for a couple of years before they finally come and get you. And when you show up, I will laugh at you. I will judge you. That's the most important thing. I mean, I tell you, forgive me, John, but you know, when you tell me that, that the IRS or whoever is trying to bother Christians engaged. It's another good reason to go to Christians engaged dot org, folks. Because we have to stand with those who are being persecuted and vilified, attacked in any event. Well, John. Well, I've got a piece at the stream that relates to this. And it's an unusual title. Is the Trump movement like Syria's Kurds and indispensable ally for Christians? Is the Trump movement like Syria's Kurds and indispensable ally for Christians? Like Syria's Kurds and indispensable ally for Christians. For Christians. Okay, let me guess. Yes. Yes. So I tell the story of two very similar Christian communities in very similar circumstances with tragically different outcomes. The Christians of Iraq had and the Christians of Syria as circa 2001 on September 11th, 2001. They were in very similar situations. They were dependent on the goodwill of secular Arab dictators. Saddam Hussein Bashir. The U.S. fights this pointless war in Iraq based on weapons of mass destruction that never existed. Our regime our occupation does not protect the Christians. The Muslims are infuriated that the American crusaders are in their countries. So they started attacking the local Christians who are hapless helpless scapegoats. They had all been disarmed by the government. Saddam Hussein, like a good tyrant, had gun control. America being good liberals, we kept gun control laws in Iraq. The Islamists like other criminals don't obey gun control laws. So they got lots of guns. The Christians of Iraq, obeyed the law, counted on the government to protect them, were slaughtered. Three fourths of the Christians in Iraq who had been there since the apostles, the churches have been there since the second century. Three fourths of Iraq's Christians were killed or driven into exile. And if you want to help them go to Iraqi Christian relief organization, they really do need your help. It's tragic because they were disarmed. They were helpless in the face of ISIS. When ISIS marched in the city of Mosul, which had 1.6 million people and tens of thousands of Christians. Like a hundred guys from ISIS took over a city of more than a million people because they'd all been disarmed by the government. Hundred guys took over a terrorized the city of 1.6 million people burned all the churches, drove all the Christians out, raped the women set up rape camps where they traded them. Horrendous tragic outcome. That is what happens when Christians trust a secular government that doesn't like them to protect them. And the secular government here in America clearly likes us less and less with each passing week. So as I've written and I've got a book on this coming out on this called God and guns versus the government, the more hostile the government becomes, the more important our gun rights become. Now let me tell the story of Syria. In Syria, do you remember the Arab Spring went to democracy was going to come to the Arab world? Well, how did that work out? Joey walked out. We have to go to a break here, but I just have to remind my audience just so that they're tracking with the conversation. The lunacy of the Arab Spring, the lunacy that the idea that democracy could break out in a place like that. The naivete of the people who put forward that narrative. And then we saw it collapse and they never bothered to say, oh, oh yeah, we were wrong about that. When we come back talking to John for the rest of the hour and more, don't go away. Well, I for one second, I've got an alarm going off. I got to turn it off. Is the government the best mechanism for fighting poverty? Are there any real life examples of communities successfully combating addiction and homelessness today? How can we best deliver hope to our nation, those questions get answered September 23rd on Salem now dot com in an inspiring new motion picture from kingstone studios based on a true story in no vacancy a demoted journalist finds her cynicism slowly transformed as she befriends a recovering addict while working a story about a church struggling to purchase a motel for homeless families, no vacancy, starring dean Cain, TC stallings and Sean young is based on the true story of first baptist Leesburg, Florida, and a real location the Samaritan inn. Move your viewers are saying movies like this bring purpose to the big screen, well produced and the acting is tops, enough can not be said about how incredible this true story is.

"Strike one to stallings. As interim double plans struck out tonight. These guys are eating steaks on TV. What the heck? It's 11 one JP. We're singing college fight songs. One of them days. We're not singing, but we're listening. And enjoying. Something about a marching band for me Love them. I do like, I do like a marching band. I love when you get a marching band performing the national anthem at a baseball game, it's the sound of the anthem from marching band is special. You know what I love is a marching band that is moving around the field. They make themselves into a T and the guys run through the T you talk about it. It was a T stand for. University of Tennessee. The volunteers home. What is your first game in Knoxville this year? You have it on the schedule already? Next week. Next week. Two one to stallings. The ground ball into left field. That's a base hit. Waved around third Leblanc coming home and throws cut off Stalin's a run scoring single to make it 11 to two. Oh, that's the 97 man hour cutter that stallings hits in the 5.5 hole. And what happens Glenn when he throw a cutter that hard, sometimes he threw him through it. And it ends up being right in the middle of the plate, and that's exactly what happened right there with that 98 mon hour cutter. Leyland Diaz is a good chance here. Williams second songs at first two down for the Marlins their first run since the Cooper RBI double in the bottom of the first. I made a one nothing Miami at that point. Lots happened since. Strike one delay one. Matching the can of Grand Slam broke things wide open in the fourth inning. That's our big play of the game tonight, brought to you by pombe Charlie Davidson and algan rally Harley-Davidson the number one volume Harley dealer group in South Florida. There's a strike called Lewin. For the mets are running the third 8 in the fourth one in the 5th one in the 7th Miami single runs in the first and 7th innings trailing 11 to two. The snowman and the 8th didn't earn the fourth ending is what really hurts. Kind of stands out. Pitch outside in the ball. Hard to win a game when you give up an 8 run inning. Snowman's are not good in baseball

How Scott Stallings Balances Golf and Family Life

"I have a real question. So obviously you have kids that are in school, you're pretty close age wise, like how does that affect travel now, you know, you can pick and choose your schedule, which is badass, but you guys like you it up at the start of the year. I know during school, it's totally a different ball game, but how do you guys want to Hawaii? What's going down? Yeah, I mean, it's definitely we had a little bit of a calendar meeting on Friday and had a chance to kind of figure out what we're doing with kids and my kids are old enough now where I guess one positive thing of COVID is now kids can kind of do school and not have to necessarily be there. So the school they go to is pretty good understanding when they miss that game down the tour championship for the end of the week. A couple of weeks ago and they've been pretty good to work with us so far and kind of seeing what it looks like. But I want my kids to have an opportunity to kind of see what for more or less what I do when I'm gone. And I understand that like I actually send friends don't think I actually have a job. That just go around and do that, but have a chance to kind of see what we work for and have a chance to truly play with the best players in the world. And my son's a big Scottish upper fan. So he made it abundantly clear to me that he was ready to go watch him instead of me. Which, to be honest, the way I was playing with somebody and go watch him like a cheer bomb. So, but I mean, it's definitely a unique factor to kind of bring in a lot of people don't really more or less pay attention to that and they kind of unfortunate that it involves a ton of travel, a bunch of time away and different things to kind of do all that. So when my wife's a rockstar and does all the stuff that kind of behind the scenes that people don't really see to kind of keep our traveling circus together and do together as a family as much as we possibly can.

When Scott Stallings Decided He Was Sick of Being Fat

"When did the switch flip for you? When did the switch flip? I'm sick of being fat. I want to be in shape. When was when did that happen? 2015, 2015, how did that happen? Were you watching the chip chippendales or something? What are you doing? No, man. I was a guy that had made every excuse you can think of. I was trying to do what I want when I wanted to kind of thought as long as I played good, I could there was really no much there's not much accountability. I was everything that you could think of. I was doing wrong. I had no sleep. Not even a plan. I wouldn't even call. There wasn't ever thought of recovery or moving on to the next day. It's like, man, as long as burgers are still made, like, I'm fine. Like, I don't need to think about. I remember playing the Fort Worth tournament, and you know those big giant styrofoam cups. Yeah. And the crushed ice in the locker room at Fort Worth and just pounding Dr Pepper going to the range. I mean, like two or three of them, like just get out there and just now thought of the fact that it's 200° out there and just sweating profusely and not drinking any water or anything like that. But long story short had a few little odds and in like medical things and sort of started to show up and the next thing you know you're 30 years old and doctor's office and you start asking some pretty weird questions. Man, how the hell did I get here? And you look in myself in the mirror, it's like, I did this. I did all of this. This is no one's fault other than my own. And I need to do some accountability. I need to grow up. You need to have a little bit more maturity and some discipline in my life. And sort of asking some people some tough questions and all those questions reported to myself. And so I found a lot of people that are held smarter than me and started asking questions on kind of what a healthy lifestyle looked like on how to train, how to eat, how to sleep, how to do all these different things. And started doing it, man. And it just sort of became a habit. And the gym was sort of where I went to to get away. And golf kind of took a little bit of a backside as you can see. Throughout my career, like I started off pretty good and then kind of treaded water there for a little bit and then now it's starting to trend back and sort of play like I'm capable of.

How Scott Stallings Became a 'Nobull' Athlete

"I got a question from a guy named Timothy Dobbs. It sounds like he personally. But he wants to know how you became a noble athlete. I became a noble athlete through a friend of mine named Matt O'Keefe. Pretty involved in the fitness industry and all these different things. And he invited me up to New England before the Boston event, the first playoff event. And played with Todd from noble and got a chance to meet some of the crew and just kind of get a sense of who I was kind of on and off the golf course and how to involve training and different aspects of that kind of through all my life. Whether I was on the grass or in the gym and kind of developed into a relationship and kind of a conversation of how to go from just like a name and likeness to next thing you know it's like maybe we're going to do golf shoe. We're going to do head to toe and noble is going to be a partner in the tour and it just escalated very quickly and anything they put their name on and they take very seriously and it was an honor to kind of bring something that kind of had a huge interest in mind just in the fitness world and be able to bring it into the world of golf and kind of be a brand ambassador for them in the first got to kind of help them break through on the world of golf and the PGA Tour and it's been really cool and a learning experience for sure starting with a new brand and something that they've never really dealt with. A lot of challenges and a lot of cool opportunities that kind of came along with it and I'm proud to represent them both in the gym and on the golf course.

Did Scott Stallings Get Approached to Play the LIV Tour?

"Did you get approached by the live tour to play the live tour? I did. It was not a very good offer, but it was an offer. There was no upfront money. It was tournaments, and it was sort of the offer change is I played well, but it was still like shitty. The opportunities that I now have playing in the way that I did towards the end of the year, I mean, granted, I was going to hear and kind of see like everyone else kind of what it truly was like when it kind of came down to it. But man, just some of the stuff that you hear like some of the guys are getting out, and this and that. I mean, it had to be a good offer to take on all the risk as far as what was going to take place. I mean, because it managed some guys that signed those things, never even played a tournament.

JJ & JP Welcome 'Old-Timer' Scott Stallings

"We have Scott stallings this week. Scott stallings recently off his first ever championship appearance finished second to get there. The week prior to playing some of the best books like also in the best shape of his life, 37 years old was the second oldest player in the field in Atlanta, which is unbelievable. Yeah, there he is. He's the old guy. Scott solids. Yeah, it's pretty much thanks for having me. You were the second oldest guy that blows my mind. That blows my mind. Yeah, but thank God Adam Scott got that ball up and down and Delaware on Sunday. I mean, which was sick. I mean, we knew it was close, but I mean, he got up and down on the short bunker in the front of the left green like up and over a mountain and then they hit it in the grip and tapped it in where I was like, holy cow. And I had to put the tie to the lead and I was just like, that was amazing. So maybe he gets done and uploaded with him the second round. I'm really glad you're here and then he's like, why? I'm glad I'm here too. I was like, well, you're older than me. Yeah, that's amazing though. We talk about that all the time on the plot, the average age of the tour players now is like 26, 25, and you're 37 and you feel like you're just ancient. And we were talking early before we came on. "But somewhere along the line, we got to we got to realize as students of the game of coaches and athletic directors, the game is still for the player. I understand that, but somewhere along the line we got to use good judgment. Coach before you go, I want to talk about maybe the favorite subject I've ever had discussions with you about it. And that's your son, Johnny, who we lost a couple of years ago. And it's hard to think about you without thinking about him and the indelible impression and legacy that he made, and I know you continue to work in the Tuscaloosa community and many other places. Trying to raise awareness and especially money in his honor. Oh, my life wouldn't have been nearly as rich. If it wasn't for the fact that I had the privilege of having raised a child that had special needs, Johnny love football, he knew all the players he knew all the coaches, even in professional football, he knew coach lander and back to one of the stores I enjoy telling when he's going to make those Landry. I was telling him I do it as a journey. We're going to go and go to church and make colander and he'll say, glad to meet you coach Landry and he saw coach landing first thing, he said. That's so great. It's a great story of mine, but yeah, my life wouldn't have been nearly as rich if it now I didn't think so when he was first born. I was just devastated, but the thing that I felt like was the worst thing that ever happened to me turned out to be the best. He loved the player. He knew every player's name. You can't imagine how many things not only in the Alabama area, but his named after him, a stadiums and football fields and everything else. So he is really made Israel marking live. Coach, I mean, nobody knows what's ahead, but I don't think there will ever be a moment in my career or anybody's career that I know that will be more special than you, the shot of you being carried off the field in New Orleans after winning the national championship against Miami and the smile on Johnny's face. I know you've seen it since then, but you were a little busy at the time. That is something that will become that has always been one of the greatest parts of Alabama history. And that's saying a great deal considering the coach you played for in college and worked under later on in many ways was your mentor and of course I'm talking about Paul Bryant. Brad boy, we were in a little room together just the two of us right after that game and it was a big game. I understand that, but Johnny looked at me and he said, good job. That's correct. That's always said about winning that game. Good job. Well, just like I was the guy they wanted. Yeah, well, you know, coach, you played a pretty big role. And nobody will ever forget that and we will hopefully have many more of these conversations. Stay well and we really appreciate you making time for us. Well, I remember when you came to College Station, that was a big deal. Lots of people turned out to hear you, Dan and College Station. I was one of them and they really have an appreciation for you not only in the southeastern conference, but at a and M as well as Alabama. We appreciate what all you've done for college football. Coach you be well and I hope to see you soon, take care of yourself and best all your family. That's always joy to be on your show and you all are anytime I'm never too busy to be on both of you. Thank you very much. The absolute legend gene stallings joining us from his ranch in Texas on this late summer day will take a short break. You were listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. Well, we've already had gene stallings if we can top that. It would be a great show. Griff will join us to get the reaction from Georgia on Nick Saban's comments about the rebuilding year and matched income. On the SEC opening at many places. It gets you some headlines as the NCAA board directors has delayed a vote on the transfers that is predictable. They'll keep delaying and delaying. The aggies have quite a QB battle. We mentioned one of the departs is already in auburn Zach calzada, but you got three trying to get the job and we're all eager to see who Jimbo Fisher selects. There's a group of writers who are trying to imagine some various things. It's a pretty long drawn out story about how what would happen to bowl games started earlier. Imagine actually having the bowl games at the beginning of the season. They probably would be more interesting than many of them are at the end, no games versus FCS, extra buy weeks, these are all interesting ideas and none of them will be put into play. Let's get to some phone calls here at 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5. Let's begin with Greg, who is in Ohio. Hello, Greg. Hello, mister fine, mom, how are you today? We're doing great. Thank you. Okay, mister fine bomb. I'm going to get a crystal ball. And me and you are going to look into the future. Okay. Okay. First. For my 14 playoffs, I like Alabama. I like Ohio state buckeyes. I like the Georgia bulldogs in our like, I'm not too Mark too fond of Clemson. I don't look at their quarterback. They don't look at their quarterback good, so while I think I'm going to go with USC, I think USC is done a pretty good job in recruiting. In saying that. My House state buck as I believe have the husband trophy winner, in CJ strat. And I believe he's going to win the Heisman. I think they're going to end up playing Alabama for that national title. Now, if they play Alabama for that national title, in Nick Saban wins, that national title. He beats Ohio State with all this NIL and all the transfer portals and all the conference realignment that's went on. Do you see Nick Saban beating milehouse state buckeyes for the national title and calling it quits at the end of the year? Or vice versa? Yeah, great. Thank you. I've heard a lot of people opine on that. And I agree with you. Those are the two teams I like the most. And I'm still wrestling with who else will get there, but there are small amount of people that think Saban would walk away. And then there are even more who would argue against it based on all the things that you've heard throughout the years, and I am not certain NIL is going to be his undoing this quickly. I still think he has warned he's worn out by it. We saw that this past summer. But the fact that he has been able to negotiate and manage it quite well. I mean, he has had probably in the last three weeks among the best recruiting stretches that he's ever had. That tells you that he's figured it out. And there's nothing like the combination of winning and being able to attract money and great players. It's a deadly combination. And now you're starting to get people who are thinking, you know what? I can now be part of Nick Saban's last championship or last class. And there's a real lure to that.

"This thirsty. We have a lot to do today and we really look forward to all of you for being a part of it. Great deal to get to and we want to get your calls of course and a number of guests. We are joined by one of the legends in college football history, former Alabama coach team stallings who, of course, led Alabama in 1992 to a national championship and left a legacy and indelible print on that program that is still felt today. The coach stallings, it's such a pleasure to have you on. We've all been concerned about your wealth and we hope you're doing okay. Good afternoon. Paul, I really appreciate you calling and it's good to talk to you always love talking to you. I will concerned about Eli. Talk somebody told me that Eli was sick, Eli gold and something that happened to him. Told you may even know about that. Yeah, I am concerned, coach, and we're trying to get a little more information. They announced yesterday that he would not begin the season and really nothing else was offered. And there is a lot of concern. So yeah, if I can pick up anything else, I would call you immediately, but I was hoping you could help us because I know I know how close you two have been over these many, many years. Well, he's a pro just like your pro. Every time I've been on this show of thoroughly enjoyed it, same thing, said about you, Paul, and it's a joy to be on your show. Thank you. Well, coach, let me just let me ask you, I read a couple of weeks ago that you had had, I never want to say a major setback because you're a you're a tough guy, but how are you doing right now? You know, I'm doing fine. I've been to town doing some stuff and I just had a little stroke. And I guess there's no such thing as a minor stroke, but I think that's probably what I had a couple of. I'm doing as well as I can Paula Iridium. Well, coach, I mean, it's hard for any of us who have known you these many, many years and many have known you a little bit longer to think of you being sick. You're one of the healthiest looking people I've ever seen. And I know you're still out there working, doing things on your ranch because that's what you love to do, isn't it? That's absolutely right. And in fact, I'm out doing some stuff right now. It's true that I come in and be a little quieter but it's going to be on your show and the country you don't always get good reception, but anyway, so I came to the house where I could talk pretty good. Coach, I mean, I know it's always somewhat frowned upon to talk about people's age, but you're certainly past your mid 80s and. Everyone deals with it at different ages and I guess it comes up because you coach, I always felt like you could have coached a lot longer and people make a big deal about Sabin being 70 and Bobby bowden coaching into his late 70s and paternal even longer. How does it affect a coach when you start reaching various milestones? First of all, I made a 6 and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Alabama. I just felt like it was somebody else's chance to coach at Alabama physically. I could have done the job. You're tired. Quicker than you used to, but other than that, I'm fine. I could still coach whether or not I could be on the field during practice for all the time that I did. That would be a little hard for me. I could handle the games. I bet you could. But coach, I have to ask you, because we haven't talked to you in a while, but so much is happening in college, sports, and you have been one that has always been true to your beliefs and to the infrastructure and principles of the way this game was developed. What are your thoughts on where we are right now with NIL and the exploding expansion, just some overall thoughts on the game of college football? Well, you know the thing that you used to be put on probation for now is legal. And you can just buy a player. I'm really opposed to that. Somewhere along the line we got to realize you go to college for an education, education has never mentioned it's whether or not he's going to be transferred into this school to that one and have had much eligibility going to lose. What about the hours he's going to lose? But somewhere along the line, we still got to realize we go to college, getting education, not to play football. But coach now that we are in this new era and it's about a year in two months a year and one month old, there doesn't seem to be any putting it back we had Tommy tuberville on yesterday, as you know is now a United States senator and they're working on it, but it seems like the ship has already sailed, hasn't it? Well, we don't need to Congress to get involved in college football. That's a personal thing. I know Tom and I know him well and he's going to do a good job as a center, but this is an athletic director's thing that they've got to sell on and do what's best for not only their school, but what's best for college football and athletic directors can do that better than anybody. Coach, as somebody who was a coach at a number of places from Texas a and M, obviously, we know you're Alabama history very well. If you had a player making a couple of $1 million a year, I realized times are different, but you could do the math and it's still a lot of money, whatever it was when you were the coach, what kind of strains is that put on you and your staff and trying to communicate with that player. Extremely hard. I mean, it's not impossible, but it's next impossible. I will say this, I'm glad that I'm not coaching. And history and where you got to deal with all the things that they have to deal with, but you go talk about you won't give a player $2 million. How are you going to tell them not to do that? And yet, you know, it's not in the best interest of the football team, but somebody would be generate and all that money. And the rest of not, but I would be opposed to paying the player just like I was back when I was coaching. We're talking to coach gene stallings and we talked so much often about your role at Alabama. I think we probably don't give enough credit to your role as a regent or trustee at Texas a and M and I'll say it, but you played a big role in helping bring Texas a and M to the southeastern conference and I know how dear that school is to you as well. And it's a friend of mine sent me some pictures of some of the new development out there. And it's mind-blowing what's happening in College Station. It really is the good decision for Alabama to go into the SEC and then to go into SEC and it's good for college football and it's good for everybody, but the long ones with all those pluses are somewhere long line. They've got to be some minuses and when you go to talking about buying a player, I'm still opposed to that, but some were long line one inch legal and everybody else is doing it. Some more long line, you've got to get the player and you've got to do what your opposition has done. Coach stallings, so many people in recent months. Almost all the major coaches have talked about how this is not a sustainable model, I know how you feel, but what do you think, where do you think the disconnect is going to come and how is it going to affect the game moving forward long past when you and I are talking together about college football? Well, it's a whole lot easier to go forward than there is to go backwards. I agree with you. How are you going to stop it? Once that slave gets rolling, it's all pretty hard to stop it. Somewhere long line, we got to realize that you go to college when education don't go to college to play football and maybe we're going to have to pay the player being makes all ways or something like that.

"He had a little friend named bradley. Buck also eh. Downs and brad bradley would come to the ranch and visit with us couple weeks every year. And so i've got just the three of us a little country restaurant that's it okay bradley. You're in johnny. Who is your all time favorite alabama football coach. Both of them said coach saving and then goes to game yet. As you'll daddy. Joe serve all these. You're not there now. How how infrastructure you at the impacts in these big tough kids you know that could lift five hundred pounds. Whatever and they'd see little. Johnny did melt their heart and kind of brought up. Maybe the human side of people that we don't always see in sports that's right and then they the player and he loves the managers trainers. He's like anybody could coach. But couldn't anybody take care of the player so if you were a manager or trainer Johnny fell lock. You with the top of the list and say he would go in the training room and they would let him put a little is on the players from time to having and he felt like he was part of it and everywhere. I've been. It's not so much at when i was coaching cardinals. Though they let him go to game but he was really a part of the organization. I will say this when. I was coaching. "You need to have ms bryant on your side. She didn't think anybody can play coach. Bryant you gonna play you got to unita or helps you knows what happens and she can tell you things that the average person can't tell you he's going to meet with mrs. Brian and i said now you need were alligators shoes and and have a nice jacket on and and just look nice when when you going and meet her well. He met her any ads. Shoes would know socks. Had a jacket would know. Just t. shirt on it. No code and Though and just really in my opinion. Turn ms brian off. So she wouldn't. She didn't have at all in that movie. So you played for bear bryant at texas. Am and then when you get to alabama. You'd been in assist. Never when you get the head coaching job. This of course after your time with the big red the football cardinals is it still daunting to coach crimson tide. Even though at that point bear bryant had been gone. Is it still intimidating to step into that role. Well now. It was when My texas and am tame played alabama. Cotton bowl and should. They were better football team. We were but i wanted my players to be exposed coats front back in those days when you went to a bowl game. Both teams did things together and both coaches which speak to both teams and so forth zone. So i wanted to players big sports coach bryant and and that's the dallas for on play alabama. We won the game but If they had a better football team than we did but we we got several turnovers. Difference in the game and then taking the job at alabama. How big was the shadow of bear. Bryant on that campus did not intimidate me at all. You know. I love coach bryan told more coach bryan stores in anybody Coach was he was my hero But i was coaching team. I was gonna coach it the way that i feel like you need to be coach. So power not intimidated By the you know we would win a game. When i was alabama and somebody would drive me a letter and say congratulations but coach probably would have done this and that so they love coach bryant. They just tolerated the rest of us coach. You know here in saint louis certain rivalries whether it's the baseball cardinals and the cubs in college. Maybe it's mizzou and kansas. What was it like to be a part of the alabama auburn rivalry. How intense isn't just. You just can't imagine how big it was now. The reason the deck's in texas game was a big rob over. But we talked about it the week before the game and the week after the game ness it but the alabama all game. Somebody somewhere is going to be talking about it. Every day of the year. I'm not gonna say I've been in college football all my life and also them in the pros and we're having them sort of a mini camp and bob la was smoking a cigar in the meeting room and locker and i said what what what are you doing. He said i'm smoking a cigarette. So i got thing you six to eighty five you so do what you wanted to. And but that was sort of my production and professional football sports. College football coachee. You're you're you're start in in big time. Football was was with bear bryant at the university of alabama. We talk about coach landry. What was it like Working for the working for bear bryant. You know i'm a. I've had a blast career. If you look at all the college coaches and you'd say who's the best college coach it's got to be coach. Bryant now i know coach saving has a better win loss record but he recruits all over the united states. He's got better people than other people. When i was working coach bryant the great great majority of our players from the state of alabama. He wanted somebody who grew up in alabama loved. Alabama warner beat auburn and won't get ready to beat tennessee So the quality of player. We had good players. But go not anything. About what alabama. Now your introduction bear bryant. "Listen it's a joy to be in the paper and saint louis. I love saint louis. When i was coaching there. And and be sure. In case. forget it. Because you're intel girl book that i said hello. Oh absolutely yes she is royalty in this town and still is well it. Let's start with that. Your time in saint louis i know it. Sort of turbulent because the team was getting ready to move and ultimately moved to phoenix. But what are your recollections there at the old busch stadium. Well i i enjoyed coaching. Saint louis and It's a baseball town. There's no question about that They love the baseball cardinals. Just tolerated the football cardinals. When i was there Done a little bit better since then. Phoenix but As far as living in saint louis. I felt like it was a well kept secret. Unless you've been in saint louis you didn't really realize what a great place to live. And how how turbulent wasn't knowing that the move was impending. I know there was some thought they might go to baltimore. They weren't sure if it was there or go into phoenix idea. Coaching in the midst of all that has absolutely nothing to say about where we went was bedroom steam and and they made the decisions and they would go off and visit from place to place and everybody will know where he went. And i really didn't make any difference because i was going to be coaching football team. I thought for a long time But anyway it was my job please. Him and his job plays me. And i just couldn't do it and were players ever distracted by. Was it ever a topic in in the room. Yeah the what about you know. When i was coaching the cowboys everybody all the football players. The dallas lived in the dallas area. Coaching saint louis cardinals. Nobody live there so i told the players one time in a meeting. I said i'd like some guys to live in saint. Louis it's a good place to live and and And that your business for you live my much football team. And all of a sudden several players felt like is a good place to live and both houses handle involve. We didn't move to defame expert. They they organization did by the house so they didn't lose any money on just when you got him to buy in packed up and left and then and then to be a coach of team that moves. That's i mean you guys like. Having sort of a rhythm to the day and structure how disruptive is that when you are. The head coach wasn't all that disruptive really now we had a An abandoned askula practice and had all the meeting rooms at the gym and has their old practice. "Paul. You're on the air. Go right ahead. Hey paul thanks great show and bring back some of the voices from history when you love to have frank royle's keach axe and her months and on interviewed him and see their thoughts on this. I mean there's a lot of things about this job. That's fun and enjoyable. But but i. I can talk to roy kramer. Friday night or gene stallings. And maybe. Because i i've been i've covered these guys at such various points of my career but there so they're so rich in in their stories and their memory i i think people dance around and maybe it was herbs fruits three in that string of guests you had last week but between the payout pre athletes the portal the one and done scenario. It does seem like three years out. We are looking at a pyramid of thirty forty fifty. Whatever that top is that once money and they're going to be a frontloading the nfl and there's kind of that mid tier. Maybe that's like a. I don't know or wisconsin or let's be honest if you're in this bubble right now and what i mean by that is if you're coaching participating or even doing what we do here. Don't act surprised. Okay don't give me a. I'm a traditionalist speech and i really don't like where we're going. We're we're all. We're all part of the same conversation here and there are some very specific reasons. You heard coach. Stallings talk about the money well The money goes in in many different directions. Now i i completely i think changes you think i. I completely agree with you. The produce the the vanities georgia tech's they're gonna what if they stay look. We're gonna focus. On academics student athlete et cetera. And they say we can't keep up with the facilities. I can see that happening. I think it's going to Because it's fruitless I mean i always vanderbilt to others. But if you're if you're a duke or boston college or northwestern You have pockets of success. But i i don't i don't think you have any chance If you look down the road ten years no it's the arms race it and it with russia. How do you keep up. Keep spinning on it. And by the way nobody's even trying to to camouflage it anymore. It's not like well. You know the most important thing or the student athletes. how much are we. How much are we making off this next deal right great coverage thank you very much by the way to hear from you. Thank can't wait to get season going baba's in cincinnati. Hilo bob hall. Thank you i stopped to. You know your last comment on vanderbilt. I don't think there's an sec fan kentucky. i've had more fun. On vanderbilt. Weekends and nashville. It's a great place to go. Watch watch football game And that's why you're right The the opposing team Often out outnumbers. I wanted to ask you is. Is it time for a for a new book. My conference room really better I have. I have this poster up in our house. I walk by this morning of of that book which came out six Years ago or seven years ago My conference can be your conference Why why the sec. Stool college football. And i got so much blowback from the arrogance of that. And and i wrote back in two thousand. Fourteen is is kids stuff compared to where we are today. I'm curious how is it for you to cover this now as a radio television personality versus if you were a wider. I mean how is this. It's interesting you're able to interview so many writers but if you were still on the beat what would you your day be like. It would be endless because it all candor some of the things you hear now in this see you. You don't have to react to. And i'll i'll say that for the book. Would i mean by that statement. But i found this to be one of the most exciting stories i've ever been around But as a writer. Here's the problem with that field. The moment if i could opine on my former Job it's not what it once was where you had the time and the ability to cultivate sources and make sure you really had the story correctly now in i know i'm going to sell micro curmudgeon here but you know you have that responsibility but you also have the social media responsibility which i would argue gets in the way of of gray reporting well as a church because by the way There's a great need for for social interaction If you're in the media but it yeah. I love the great books. Come out about what really happened now. The problem is they. Don't come out for six months or a year or ten years or maybe in in lincoln's case one hundred hundred and seventy years But that's a whole number of their conversation but but but i know that The people covering the story are are working around the clock because it is endless and because everyone everyone has a voracious appetite for what is next. Well i love the call rush earlier for a a commission to explore the The the underpinnings and the foundation of all this Revolt hope you would be well. I would love to be Bob i think that is fascinating. I think we have a reasonable idea of what happened. I think these two schools started a dialogue. I i think there were a lot of legal Gymnastics dawn because everyone knew everyone knows with these contracts say and We i've had some pretty ridiculous conversations before with people trying to hire me Where you couldn't say very much i mean laughable but that but it's those reminder those are kid's stuff compared to what Texas and oklahoma were going through. So i'm sure. They went through legal representation who call legal representation and finally the the main parties were brought in. We are officially out of time for this program. We appreciate all of you for being a part of it Some really interesting guests today will See.

"Zero week every year And now i have to compete with oklahoma and and And texas and even though texas hidden no one a lot of games but they still a national brando and texas is the type of school that will benefit from the nfl read. That's that's my point. Exactly what i was talking about. Because you know that doesn't mean that doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to win national championship. But texas problem or texas reminds me a little bit of tennessee in that most of their problems have been self inflicted They had a good coach Tennessee had phillip fulmer. They had brown. It wasn't enough and And they had never been able to replace either coach and they still have the they still have the name. They still have the facilities. They have the fan base There there's not a reason in the world why either school shouldn't be successful right. That's true but they're cairo. Mammy of Lsu before they won the national day dave stay spit out. nfl calendar other than alabama. Nobody's spit out talent like like. Lsu has yeah and but for. Some reason has to do with coaching and Ricky we didn't realize how truly moronic less miles was as head coach. Took a while to for everybody to figure that out. Yeah yeah yeah yeah it is coaching and also your your your fan base or your boosters or whatever if they too impatient just like disliked taxes. they get too impatient and you know count me on my alma mater jackson state. They kept going out kicking coaches. Don't you last year. You know you gotta be somewhere down. You got to give him chance to to build a pro. You are so correct ricky. Great to hear from you. Don't be a stranger. We are heading into the break. Really great.

"Have you guys on the show today. Thanks so much for doing this. Great to be here. So i have to be honest. I had never heard that term home integrator until maybe a couple of months ago when podcast listener road in to describe the role for the rest of us who may be unfamiliar. Can you please tell us what you guys do. Michael do you wanna go first. Yeah absolutely happy to happy to jump in so a home technology integrator as it's developed over the years to be somebody that knew. Let's say hi fi in stereos but that's twenty years ago and fast forward 'til now and everything is technology in the home right. I mean and especially the last year with coverted. We've we've all lived at home and we've all experienced poor wifi. We've all experienced like outdoor you know people want to listen to audio outdoors and they may or may not have speakers lesions and so. Our job is to integrate all that technology technology into the home experience into the the the experience of living in that place. you know in his best As as we can you know as the client wants it and of course within budget and with all the other components and people that have to be involved in project we really just try to execute that vision and so what kind of things are people asking you to to integrate aaron. It's really runs. The gamut depending on the size of the home be the homeowners their comfort level oftentimes two different homeowners different users. That system have different needs and different. You know comfort level so for residential generally you can almost expect there's gonna be some element of lighting control. Perhaps even a little bit of lighting design as well lots of recommendations for -tective lighting fixtures and layouts. And what have you and anything audiovisual related on this. Every home has some type of at least a tv and these days with with You know people being so familiar with solutions like the sonos Which is know. Really the industry at this point streaming Is something that's just again. It's kind of hard for the course even on isn't particularly that interested in you know they'll have guessed or children of someone who who want that capability and is it Heating and cooling equipment to absolutely. Yeah and then what about like gosh shades and seen controls like for your living room or or a great room. I'll be about so automated Window treatments We do a lot these days. More and more. I would say Somewhere in the realm of security as well surveillance cameras door. You know access kilo century that type of thing and honestly i can tell you of all the hats i wear in the household here like. It guy is the one. I'm elise comfortable with so. I'm going to answer my own question when i say. Why do we need you guys. But i'm gonna let you take it from there. Well you know. I think if one of the reasons that people need us is because of scale is the simple word right. I mean in the sense that i think a lot of people particularly if they live in a in an apartment condo or smaller home and you go to home depot or you go on amazon and you order a bunch of devices that that you know smart lights sonos speakers a nest thermostat a ring. You know all of these things that we're talking about that. All these technologies that aaron just mentioned are all things that you can just order and essentially. Diy yourself right but what we find that people really need us and you know where where are specialty. Really you know kind of hits. It's stride is when you get two houses of scale right and and and that may be brown in boston where you have four or five floors and you know you put in a wifi in the basement and it's only gonna get halfway up you know you need to have somebody figure out. Where's the wiring gonna go. What are the pathways you know. Where's the best place for the wi fi access point And if you have an aesthetically kind of a client that really wants to sort of look at things in a very modern clean. Look then you really have to spend a lot of time thinking through you know where. Where are these things going to sit. You can't just have sonos speakers on shelves because there are no shelves right a on the projects that we're working on the tv's are are sort of a clean wall and people don't want to see things and so really. Our specialty is kind of integrating all those pieces together. It's certainly one of the reasons that people really need us to think through all of these things in larger homes and i'd also say one other key pieces cybersecurity nowadays which you don't really hear that word as much around the home as you do in business but we're starting to see the same types of things that are happening to businesses the threat of ransomware and phishing attacks and all that stuff happening to individuals. And everybody's working from home now or so. Many more people are doing it before then before that you know. It's actually really important piece of the technology puzzle which you know to be. Honest is much more difficult for somebody. Just the diy or pick-up themselves. Can you guys tell me when was like your role. When did it become on people's radar like is it only the last few years. Her have technology. Integrators been around for longer than i've been aware of them a go ahead. Yeah i was gonna say been a integrators have been around for quite a long time. I mean there have been smart homes for for a long while on. They haven't been as easily accessible to the masses until until more recently. I mean we're talking. Still you know a decade or more ago really just depends what we're we're hearing more about it in more about it these days because as michael mention these strategy consumer solutions are everywhere and really do the purpose of allowing access to to home automation to To homeownership might not otherwise the budget for it because these systems as you as you can imagine as homes grow and the appetite for different technology grows so does the budget So there's there's a lot of their right now in front of people really wedding appetite for the industry. I can tell you. My observations have been that some technologies have come and gone has been more standardized now. Do you have difficulty making things play well together. Still well you know. It's it's a joke within both the it world and the home integrators and home automation that when people have ten standards and they say well what we really need is a standard to bring all these things together then you end up with eleven standards and it is and it is of true like z. Wave ziggy wifi. I mean all of these things are trying to solve different problems and ultimately you know the thing is one single platform can't do all things right. And there are standards like apple and google amazon or working on sort of the standard that rules them. All but you know. I don't expect that one either to really be the thing that takes over every home because you know they're gonna build it a target right and it's just like in the world of of home building and nothing to do with technology electronics. You there are certain solutions that are made for condos and for city living. There are certain.

"I feel like half the town talking college golfers out of practicing and like and i think that's more personality. I love the chip and pot. I love the work. Wedges inside a hundred yards but i hate hitting balls and it's a personality thing and i'm not scared i'll we'll have a grind session man. I'm not scared to go. Dig it in the dirt but for the most part like i. I need to work on the things that i need to get better at. And that's all those areas and So you're seeing that in kinda used the golf courses the evaluation part of that. If i go out there. And i feel like all right. That's the thing. I worked on ago or use the golfer evaluate. I don't really know what i'm gonna practice on. Go out there and kind of see like is kinda if you're this pretty good so you kind of balances from there but it is funny then the the time man if there's any kind of stereotype of college junior golf it's like the time keeper had twenty seven hours. You know these three days and miss manners like what. I told this one girl down in georgia The last few days. You've hit more balls in this day than i've hidden our last two months and i've played a lot of tour vis like and she's really like she took that as positive edge. What are you doing. Go play golf and i asked her. I said do you like what do you play..

"Show for you today day. We got scott dawns on podcasts racing. His journey to the tour three times now know scottsdale sprouted now because tour accolades but because of who he is i were curious junior golfing tennessee. Scott stolid especially the starts program scotties tournament cup matches so very active participant also helps a lot of college players. Well we'll set their trajectory but after college now with very Share his can't leave guys was so out. I sit relax now. Watch them to to watch to. Let's hear the stories and the advice for three times. Scott stop arlene is jalen. Welcome to the junior golf blueprint and today on the show. This man needs no introduction if you live in the state of tennessee his name. Scott stalin's pga tour player and a huge junior golf advocate for the players. That are trying to come up through. The junior ranks right now. And especially if you live in knoxville. You know his name for the kids play free program that he initiated a few years back but scott. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule as the tour about to kick off in the full steam here in a couple of weeks with majors up in front of you. How did you get into the game though before we start talking about your tour career you've had for the last decade. Yeah that sounds weird man. I played every sport. Play baseball Basketball soccer never really a football guy but you know golf is something. I always did with my family. My dad played since. I was less since i remember and it was something that always did. Kind of in between seasons and As i guess golf progressed and kinda arab tiger woods came along I guess i wanted to try to get a little bit better and realize that the other sports are kinda getting in the way and it's kinda unique to hear like tell my story now especially with the the era of specialization in youth sports and yes seeing kids having to make a decision sticking with such like that wasn't necessarily the case to me it was more just. I decided i knew baseball was kinda getting in the way of golf and you know just the time effort it took to play and progress was just became very evident very quickly that as you have to make some choices. Not that. I couldn't try to to do it all but you know i needed to decide on my own that if i was gonna try to get any better at the game that i really wanted to be the best at you know some other stuff was going to have to kind of take it back seat i it was. It was very rare for kids in high school to. It'd be like a four year or for lederman in multiple sports right. I mean and that's that's a very difficult asks to be that good at that many sports and you know rob bell talks about the specialization thing. If it's if it's a passion like you have a passion for it. It's not really work. it's fine. You know what i mean. And and this is part of the journey and and like you said it got in the way with other other. Sports got in the way of you wanted to achieve some golfing goals but only a few years apart and i grew up in the same generations. Us like tiger woods wins at ninety seven masters and that was like golf became cool. I want i want to do that. That is the fist pumps me. Nobody was fist popping before tiger. Really you know. He made that he like pretty much. You might as well trademark that for the guy so you know. What was you. Ended up going to attack in deciding factors when you were making your college decisions. Obviously recruitments not even comparable now from when we were age. But but what were some of the deciding factors for you. Well may i kinda. I've pretty well documented like tennessee tech the last place on earth. I ever thought. I was gonna go nor did i want to go. Put all my hopes and dreams into going to the university of tennessee and Basically made that abundantly clear to all the college coaches as well so like. I see college coaches. Now they're like you know we were interested in you back in high school was like i never heard from his. Yeah we all you basically told everyone you wanna tennessee. And if it wasn't tennessee. You weren't interested like i did that. You are correct. So kind. Kinda i kinda dumb myself. In a whole i mean hindsight's everything and i mean. I probably would've done things a lot different than Now that i know it. I know but i mean tech ended up being the best thing that ever happened to me so best friends. The world came from there And i had a college coach that had had some. Pj to her experience in kind of knew what it was gonna take and early in my career at school. I probably didn't take it as serious as i probably should. And we had one fateful hall of fame dinner were. He told me very clearly in front of a lot of people what he thought good and bad and made it very evident that he saw something in me that i didn't see myself and kind of from that moment on it was over I was going to try to prove him right. And you're trying to be what he thought i could be and I look back on that one made while at the time. That was the last place on earth i ever wanted to be the basically like publicly shamed in the midst of the tower athletic department but it was probably one of the career. Chaney moments in onset had nothing to do with the gulf of my hand it just had that was one of the first time in my life and a few things throughout my career where someone believed in me more than i believed in myself. That was the first time that some of made it publicly known in honestly didn't care who saw or heard it or anyone is just like. Wow that sucked like embarrassing Everything but i look back and you know. This is a more of a junior golf. I cast of some of the things he said. Don't to be repeated. But i remember it like it was yesterday and You know he's no longer with us. But i think about some of those words that he said and even now the smell eleventh year on tour and look back man like i still want to try to continue to prove him right over and over and over and continue to be a good steward of talented ability to have and try to push the game not only on tour to continue to try to get better but try to make the world of golf in the place that i have a way to impact better as well. Yeah and it's funny. How you know everybody has that moment right. And that's another rob bell is right there. The hinge that one thing that has like kick you into the next year in for me. It was when i got fired from westhaven with virgil harry with both of us. We've got the boot. And the first time i had to make a decision like am i gonna go out all my own and prove myself as a coach as worthy of being a coach to all these people and not just virgils under study you know in in sometimes those moments are just kind of forced into your into your hand and you have to kind of discover who you are you know on your own sometimes to right and and when you are fish at the college career and deciding to go play tour golf you know when you had make that final. 'cause i'm going to go do this. This is this is going to be my career choice. You know what was the deciding factors in and how you know. How did that go. When i came out of the gate. I was very fortunate. I had a good group of guys in knoxville. That helped me out and awesome. And i had no idea what that was like but while i was at tech your junior and senior year you got one week at business school. You got Basically a week off of school to go interview for jobs. And you'll basically how you get credit for your klatt. You're missing class..

New Looney Tunes Series Hits HBO Max, With New Music

"Bugs Bunny is back white BJ Wiedemann, who does her theme music, The West Go a weapon in his pal Start anew. Looney Tune Siri's on HBO, Max. And it wouldn't be loony tunes with that loony tunes. The soundtrack album for the New Syriza's Out, Tim Grieving has the story. The new Looney Tunes still opens with that theme. They wouldn't dare change that, but everything that follows needed a new composer. There was certainly intimidating. Joshua Moshier is one of two composers for the new Looney Tunes. I Come at this from jazz background, and when you learn to play that music, you just embody the language of these musicians that you look up to. And so I really approached Carl stalling the same way Carl Stalling was the big goon of cartoon scoring. He started with silly symphonies at Disney, but he made his name a Warner brothers starting in the 19 thirties, where he scored more than 700 cartoons. Stalling applied. The same techniques had learned as an organist accompanying silent films reacting and improvising toe onscreen antics and using existing classical pieces and popular Theo Orchestra runs upstairs tiptoes and gets bonked on the head along with the characters no matter what you anyway, Don't you even know I already have one. John Powell is the Oscar nominated composer of animated features like How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda, Even though he's not part of the new Looney Tunes. He feels Carl Stallings influence so strongly that he uses a sort of Richter scale with directors that he calls the stalling number, You know. So if you say Okay, we only need a story number of two here. That basically means, you know, Tone it down. Don't hit things don't don't go for the musical juggler Calm down, but if madness and shoes in the cartoon world Why not have fun with it? So new Looney Tunes composer Joshua Moshe had some acne sized shoes to fill, and even though he's never scored a show like this before He's actually been preparing for a while. I was always experimenting with how could I do a Carl stalling kind of sound on my own, even going back to college, and I had some experiments that I found on old hard drive said. I threw together on a riel motion submitted that really in an open casting call and got the job. He recorded a full orchestra on the Warner Brothers lot for the 1st 2 cartoons, and for the rest, he had a chamber ensemble of six players at Capitol Studios. There's cartoons like the road runner. And the coyote where there's no dialogue, except for a few minutes. The first time I worked on with those It just looked like this big blank slate. But you realize oh, the dialogue is the music the coyote. His dialogue is below meandering soon. Road Runner, you know, we reference the classical piece dance of the comedians. Joshua motion has infused HBO Max's new Looney tunes with Carl stalling spirit and added some twists of his own like bebop, but the main thing he carried over from stalling Writing seriously funny music. What's so great about Looney Tunes is that they are caricatures, and it allows the music to be a caricature. It's just such a joy to me to participate. In the comedy in an overt way and be part of what's making people laugh. That's all folks for
