"The Buccaneers weakness is their injuries in the secondary. The injuries in the secondary right now for Tampa are it's hernia. And they're giving up too many yards and I worry when they play a better team. If the injuries persist and they play a team like Arizona and the playoffs, they're gonna get annihilated. So aside from that, though Tampa might be the most aside from a major glaring flaw, their secondary Tampa might be the most complete football team in the NFL. They've got a shot to win back to that titles with Tom Brady. They do everything well. Again, the secondary is a problem, but Tampa is definitely Super Bowl contender. They will be in the conversation come the end of the year. I have no doubt about that. The Baltimore Ravens are 5 and one, and I remember when injuries kept piling up earlier this year. I mean, they're offensive tactical Jessica injured out for the year. So, but I remember during the pre season, like they're running backward eviscerated. And I'm like, man, I'm getting more and more worried about this ravens team. Well, their quarterback Lamar Jackson said, nah, don't worry. It's all good. I'm gonna just glue everything together myself and fix it. He gets better and better as the year goes on. And the ravens are 5 and one. They smash, I still haven't watched. I'm watching that tomorrow morning probably right for him. I feel like every episode is I'm going to watch a charge of Raven's game right after this, but I really am planning to watch that. Because I record about it or not, I really need to have some understanding of how did Baltimore destroy the Chargers. That's a surprising win to me still. I want to watch that game. But the ravens are definitely a Super Bowl contender. Now, the LA rams are 5 and one, they traded for a quarterback Matthew Stafford. This off season. Is he the best quarterback in the NFL? No. Are there definitely are a couple guys who are better than a couple guys that are better than Stafford right now? But Stafford is a huge upgrade undoubtedly over the former quarterback in LA Jared Goffin. He's making a big impact. I mean, there are some mistakes that Matthew Stafford has made, but he also has done some stuff that Jared Goff would never do. And Matthew Stafford, the new quarterback paired up with their head coach Sean mcvay has been a huge home run together in Los Angeles. How about, let's see. Dallas is 5 and one and I was really, really wrong about them during the NFL preseason. I need to do a topic about that and really break down not only that. I was wrong, but why and what happened that made me wrong so far this year? There's a bunch of good pieces around dak Prescott the cowboys quarterback. He is so so much better. Jack was always good. He's been top 5 great in the NFL this year. He got way better in my opinion in this off season and man, Dallas is not a Super Bowl FrontRunner. They're not the number one team in the NFL. But they're definitely a Super Bowl contender. And this is a Dallas team that they've got a great offense..
Seahawks QB Wilson to see hand specialist
"The Los Angeles rams picked up an important division win with a twenty six seventeen victory over the Seattle Seahawks Matthew Stafford passed for three hundred sixty five yards and a touchdown as the rams bounced back from their first loss of the season to raise their record to four and one Robert what's had twelve catches for one hundred fifty yards for the rams and Gerald Henderson rushed for eighty two yards and a touchdown Russell Wilson seven entry to the finger on his throwing hand late in the third quarter and did not return to the game the Seahawks record up to two and three for the season Jim Bernard Seattle

"With the rams, Sean mcvay looked at that situation and he said, there is no way that I am going to compete here in and year out with Jared Goff. And I need to upgrade at the quarterback position with Matthew Stafford. And they went out and they made that trade for Matthew Stafford. So the problem that you have that you run into, I'm not saying that this is necessarily going to be the problem with Mac Jones because I think that Mac Jones is maybe better than all of us thought, right? All of us myself, I'm talking about myself right now that I thought. But the question is is what's your ceiling as an offense? What is your ceiling as a team? And less Mac Jones turns into Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, or one of these guys at one with that kind of skill set. What is the ceiling? Because in Los Angeles, they decided the ceiling wasn't high enough. And they move on from Jared Goff, and they'd make the trade for Matthew Stafford. In San Francisco, they decided the ceiling wasn't high enough with Jimmy G and they trade all those picks to move up the draft Trey Lance. And all these teams are looking at it and they're saying, if we're truly going to compete for super bowls and we're truly gonna win championships, the ceiling is capped with guys like Jimmy G with guys like Jared Goff. And that's why teams are swinging and missing on people like Zach Wilson. And I haven't missed yet on Zach Wilson, but you understand my point. So here's what I would say to that. I don't think I certainly don't think Jericho's net neutral. I don't think he's a good quarterback. I'm lucky qualifies as a net neutral. I would not consider him so ceiling with Ryan Tannehill, right? Well, they could have stayed healthy when they had a defense. I mean, they got the AFC championship game. San Francisco ceiling was Super Bowl. She and a hand blew it, and that's another conversation. I don't think Kyle Shanahan's a very good coach when it comes to game like game management, but San Francisco was right there that they had the Super Bowl they let it slip from their fingers. I think the ceiling was there. The other part of this plan that maybe I haven't articulated right? Because I think we've ever gotten this far in the conversation.
Murray keeps Cardinals unbeaten with 37-20 rout of Rams
"It was a signature win for Kyler Murray in the cardinals thirty seven to twenty over the rams they're great team got a lot of great players great Costa been there done it but not as good a good game good game you know we executed well we we fought meal from start to end Murray threw touchdown passes to AJ green and Max Williams and James Conner added two rushing scores LA quarterback Matthew Stafford had two touchdown passes and one pick against an Arizona defense that held the rams to only ten points over the last three quarters mark Myers Inglewood California

"If they keep winning and i don't mean kind of go undefeated but they should still win the nfc knoll if they keep winning and the leading he knows maybe they've clinched the nfc north that it will feel like that saints game was an aberration which i think he even at the time i was watching. I thought this isn't this. Isn't the death of this. This era rogers isn't done. This is just one of those really really weird things that happen the sometimes someone can just have a really bad day at work where everything goes wrong or you are driving somewhere and it's red. You hit the red light every single time. Sometimes those weird things happen and you just have to move on from it. And the way the rogers as he will move on. No one has got more more confidence. And i'm not saying i know people say. Oh he's trying to tank the season he's trying to damage the packers like if if he did do it on purpose is motivation would be just the game self full of more spite. You know. he's he. He lives on spite and and bitterness because of the because of draw his draft day. That's what that's what fuels them. The idea that people would be criticizing him so much over that we'll just have stoked up his fires so much that he can go all the way through february just on that the packers the packers. We saw against the lions. Although they weren't perfect that's the real packers get the week one version. The one we sewing week two is far far. More like what we'll see for the rest of the season this team's only gonna drop a few games all season. Oh okay you said they are In the mix this is a crucial game for them. If they are indeed is as. You're protecting been going to be there. Thereabouts intend to seatings. I think we're pretty sutton even off to two weeks. That in the forty niners a playoff team will be at the challenge. There of course is the toughest division in in in the teams to miss out the Going into short stacked as well so on the line. David yaris out daria smith. Of course also a out for for this one and that is a short stacking them a little bit up against a forty-nine is side that has they never have injury so they must be fine right not so much the price. I think we talked about whether you getting a call up or maybe on getting for the ravens at one stage at running back. I wonder whether civilly the ground game is a mess for the forty nine of course with injuries. Trae seven had a concussion. I think mitchell shoulder injury to michael hasty Banged up as well. Vei on the offensive side of the border. A feeling it a bit where we on. Let's go jimmy garoppolo and it was an ugly a win against the eagles and in the same way forming three. You're thinking that most teams have very bad days from time to time and all teams have different days from time to time. An ugly wins where things aren't ready rolling but a window in the you know the rainy one nil tuesday night when it stoke the forty nine is sit was it seventeen against was such a weird school in many many seventeen eleven year. The sonacare watson. Pretty scott hanson when he described the buffalo touchdowns pretty. It was great. Said he wasn't pretty for the for the forty niners but how much we care about that. How much in particular are we looking at. Jimmy jr trajectory the season because week. One jimmy comeback player of the year we to wanted try lance play wednesday nonstop. The i used to always coal. Jimmy g. to call is to call in the the west. Coast and dalton. The there's there's not a lot of difference in the way that they play and their abilities. They're both. They're both really good guys. They're both intelligent players. They're both limited and they gain manages and you can you can only do so much with them and the two teams starting for they've got rookie quarterback's behind them. Now the thing is is that when you've got the nfl equivalent of a kind of rainy. Choose not against stoke. This eagles game was that because before the season everyone thought the eagles was practically like having a boy and then they had a really good performance. One and jalen hurts. Looked good and i thought okay. Well know job pump. The brakes jalen hurts. Because i do quite like jim notes and i think he can be an nfl starter. But i don't know how far he's going to take team like the eagles. He's he's a decent player and that's probably that's probably what we're going to get from this season. We're going to games where he's good and some not so good. There were misuse the eagles. They looked not quite right. The forty niners just had to kind of deal with those situations. They didn't need a quarterback to produce some magic. They needed a game manager to do the things that needed to be done. Ghassem running back injuries. You just need to make some good decisions not give the ball away and pretty much. Jimmy g. just did that. He likes to remind him out of the. It's a great point and it reminds me so much of of their super bowl run of a few years back right and it was all the chalk in miami. Of course all the talk was on garoppolo in going said that super bowl because of what had happened in the championship game and the fact that he had very little to do and when you are being assessed to that degree not least in contrast with bathrooms one of the most extraordinary plays of his occupant generation. It's it's a very difficult thing but it raised the question which i guess is is a similar one that was raised a few years back in the super bowl and during his time that with jared goff the rams the limitations are this play at when you have an mind like call shanahan or of course. Children mcvay in. La are they holding as these quarterbacks holding them back and is that what where people are thinking. That trayvon's is role. You've told us on on this. Showed up at the time in the last year upside. Great talent pats the most raw of those five quarterbacks that went in in the first round. But it's not the expectation that e comes in. He is going to enable the forty niners to take it to the next level in terms of range and innovation one hundred percent basically. What the rams did from going from gough to stafford is what it will be going from. Jimmy g. to trae lance once trae lance. He's ready right. jimmy. G. is holding back before kyle shanahan and shanahan will know that which is why they traded up and gave up so much to get trae lonzo someone. They absolutely coveted because they know his limitations. There's no point putting trae lansing right now. Absolutely none died he. I don't think would have won that game whereas jimmy g. will have wanted it win it and that's that's a really key point. That for all of the obsession and understandable obsession with electrifying. Expansive freewheeling offense we want to see the will love to see that as fans of the game but but inevitably it detracts wrong. The effectiveness of play garoppolo. So yes do you have the increased possibility and potential in range with a plan that has more rural talent than different and different rule skills. But we shouldn't underestimate the fluency and efficiency of play. I like garoppolo. Anna's we've seen many times in the. Nfl can be enough. It can be enough to win a championship..

"Then just couldn't do something they would they would force a turnover. Is this the nfc championship game. You i was is exactly what i've been thinking right now. That's that is the nfc champ. Game i would want to see. But i wanna see this preview. I because it could easily be that those flaws that we see are gonna get magnified. My biggest surprise of this game is that it's a full uk. Tom it's a nine twenty five kickoff. This feels like how did how did they. Huge primetime game end up in the four twenty five local time. Timeslot like this if you if you need a day or staff at stafford abuse to the rabs. Oh no one wants to. Let's not. Let's not golf on people. A stafford is. I've been thinking a lot in the last last couple of weeks about the about the rookie. Quarterback's talk about on and matt stafford is one of those one of those players. Who if if you get a chance in the off season when you finish watching all these gains to go and watch full games of of stafford's first season with the detroit lions you will learn so much you learn so much about the way rookie quarterback's develop and the the talent you can see while a player is also struggling and making mistakes. Which he was and he was a day one starter and he was put in a bad position. He did not have a whole lot of talent around me. It was just get the bolton magnetron everything else can be a disaster and it often was and he would eventually by the end of the season he was kind of keeping them keeping them in games. Matt stafford is because he was being kind of stuck in the kind of detroit. Lions kind of ghetto almost and didn't get a showcase himself in primetime. Very often. didn't get plan playoffs that often. He's way it's so long for this. And he was always a great teammate. For everybody in detroit. He wasn't someone who is looking to get out. He did everything he could to help them. Win was a star in the community. But my god this move is perfect for him. This offense is perfect for him and kupa. Cup is more perfect form. The megatonne was back then. Big cool i don't mean better. I just be more site at that at that point when he was over sophisticated tournament. Aways you'll right. Stafford would heat it up and a k big arm out of a throw. It's not as simple as the funding that as a harland hope but could short was so dominating that that playing jump ball it was one. I mentioned what we're already seeing. I think with what mcveigh's dialing up and and how those two a collaborating is range. And that's the riddick citing thing. And i am one of the things. I'm most excited about. As the season. Progresses is watching this rams offense developed because inevitably there is gonna be thinking about this with mums are and the chiefs in that miami super. We're out there a week. Of course doing kinds of things that i remember. We recording one of the shows. We're quoting listeners. Remember we're recording unin the morning right. We're on set by recording by seven. Am right. i remember being in In makeup and believe me. I needed woke overto- to the hotel. Why was we'll set up before we get. We get a car down to the beach set with that would propo- and if we'd had obviously hardworking busy night a wild woman coffee data wake up but our finishing that show and it was a strange feeling done by seven thirty in the morning. We go get bricky. This is the show that jay bell was on and we would have got break. You can win a separation because that's how it works nine that they is starting ready and i went over to the to the hotel. The espn hotel. Hold up at the by the pool and robust wrote a piece on for the times on mahomes right and that are really clearly looking at the andy. Reed's chronology we donovan. Mcnabb with muck net wide. This was such a puff timing. It was perfect. Timing and why. The stars had aligned that liberty offensive innovation and development and chronology of his thinking and a quarterback with the skill set of mahomes a writing at that time. Now this is of course identical. But it's the same principle. i think much more desirable. Size mcveigh is much younger. Than andy reid. But the same principle. He has developed an offense in an approach and now. He's got a quarterback that can take it to the next level so excited about seeing. What's going to happen this year. Yeah i you know. When you look at quarterbacks coming in in the twenty twenty one draft and feeling you know are they a good fit for their teams nobody. No no. new quarterback joined a team that was benefit fit during that off season. Then right than stafford becoming a ram it rose just absolutely perfect if if you sat down and and try to work out okay. Where would staff go where he would be an instant upgrade but also would be just the perfect fit for him with everything they're going to do medically the flexibility that they'll give him like if if the rams the number one picking the draft then obviously they were taken trevor lawrence but really beyond that there was. There was no better upgrade for them because they staff it's not right at the end of his career and in this offense he can play for longer than he would've in detroit. I think in detroit heat about a few more seasons but we. I think we're gonna see a lot more of matt stafford now because of this and better for stott really is he's gonna keep woma warmer already. Want to get into some that an expert. The point you make is a great one about stafford being isolated marginalized in detroit respected to detroit fans a great club but has been a slim pickings at the getty lions fantasy now would be the first dive. Marriage was around that he would hold his hand up. And say it's being stampede. And that's of course one of the fundamental distinctions when you look at the nfl competitive european football right that a player like staff at if you look at his lines trajectory. He was number one overall pick. Wasn't he moro. Pick lands there word. Play at a smaller cover less successful club to be to be maybe more accurate in european. Then get the move to city or to boss oil to rail three four five years into their career right. That doesn't happen in in the nfl and a lot of the time. Of course the cyclical nature and the fact that there is a a party in the egalitarian. Constructive not teams shouldn't dominate in the patriots and outlined. Everything i get that right so you stick around and then you get good. The team gets good so it doesn't really matter but you do get these situations where you have a great player. Who is a team. That doesn't seem to break that trend that is with maybe one season exceptions a perennial struggle or indifferent just the races to the degree. And so you have this body of what is going on notice because he's not in a sexy markets on a contending team and yeah of course we're always matt stafford and seized the highlights. Not make underestimate. Just how good player is one hundred percent if if you're watching if you're watching the games on sky for example say you're watching you watching whatever games that they pick her before before he went around you. You were saying staff at a couple of times a season And probably not late in the giving you always him. Oh yeah that that's true. I'll bet for a lot of people. The the most they would see of him was on that day because the fan might be okay well. I'm watching my team or i'm watching red zone. And then that particular thursday in november you get seen matt stafford usually against a good team and having an having problems and so i was talking to someone. Line a few weeks ago alliance fan. Who was really hoping that stafford with the rams would beat the bears which you know you should want that. If you're alliance fan you want divisional rival to lose right and had done a screen shots of a preview that they'd read saying that matt stafford an excellent record against the bears and i thought what is that record. His record against the bears is eleven and nine or was with the lions is now twelve and nine with rounds so eleven and nine counted as an excellent record..

"Way. Let's get down to business. Benedict's is a good to see the sun is shining. London is a sunny place right now and the nfl is sunny place right now. It is living up to the billing. Living up to the hype. We're on our heads trying to canada. I was listening to bill. Simmons getting into this with cousins set on his cost and he put forward the argument other other any really. Really strong teams you can make a case of fallibility any of the contenders right. You absolutely can. And when when we next talk college football. That's that's very much the theme there as well that there's loads of really interesting teams. But they're on their own their teams. You can be like. How does anyone beat these guys. Everyone everyone's got their flaws. Everyone's got their strengths. And its or even at this early stage of the season. It's all kind of shaping up quite nicely rather than it being the you know. It's who's who's going to beat the chiefs in the super bowl it. You know which is interesting because the chiefs of problems going into the season it very much was. It's the box in the nfc that she's in the afc and putting cases for the browns the ravens. The rams narrow click favorites two weeks in two games in. That's been that's been torn up. I like the fact that you said. There are teams that have strengths and teams that have weaknesses just like life than just as true so beautiful. Let's get into it. Robs boxes obviously where we're gonna lead off because it is the game of the weekend. No doubt about that. With respect to the forty-ninth packers because sunday night. Football incidentally speaking of sunday night football is on our edge. Russia me improper. Only the producer dropping saturday mornings getting you set for the weekends with all the edge on the action mathilde. The cat picked the ravens lost week in standing and staring in a very strong of wave of opposition to the ravens. Winning straight up. Mathilde didn't blink. She picked the this week she is made pick on the edge rusher. You'll have to go over there and listen but let's great stats but something. The community knows exactly and this of course was done. The scientific way deep analysis hours and hours of preparation to make up pick. We put a dreamy biscuit in idaho. Hand one hand was the bucks. One was the forty niners and whichever one she went. Full was the pixie. You'll have to check out address to find out with whether she can go to of verdict Robbins box gave the weekend. Stafford against brady to contend no doubt about it in the nfc two electrifying teams to watch amongst the most enjoyable and exciting teams to watch. Although if we fast or flip back. I should say to law season when the two met. This was very much a bucks team. That bene- bucks offense specifically. It was so trying to find its feet right. A lot of people are building. This is the brady revenge game. Because brady didn't have a good time. If it against the rams lost time unday pulled off the trick that those few teams that have managed to get a better. Tom brady over the years. A- getting pressure up the middle in particular like getting in his face the middle that was their key to success whoring and hassling and and putting him off his rhythm which is no mean feat. So can the rams repeat the stymie thing they certainly can although obviously they. They don't have jared goff. Now i i don't if they should be very really worried about having the lack of jared goff magic to take them. It is against the super bowl champions. He's a pen. They are poor jared. These big was inevitably is going to become. The joke. Might appoint jared goff. Look i get it. It's clearly they going to. As i'm really interested to get into the rams offense from looker in particular what What stafford brings drill down a bit more those a great piece on. Pf bisect galina. Who said that amongst other things staff. It's taking the weight of his head coaches shoulders because because staff. It's so much more expansive because he's got that deep threat because he could improvise ultimated in the way that gunman that mcveigh had said really really choreographed to the point. suddenly restrictive and and to the point obscenity so offense no doubt upgrade in the quarterback position and year on. The defense is what. I want to start with a can. The rams get to brady get through the offensive line. Because if they can then they have a very serious short short at this right but it's easier said than done. yeah and they. The rams had such a weird weak on defense against the colts. The colts were moving the ball. A hell of a lot and should have scored more points than they did. It was very strange game for anyways. Anyone who watched it live was watched it back since the colts can feel a little bit hard done by the rams deserve to win. But the rams defense was didn't didn't do a whole lot to stop the colts. All the time and the pressure that was coming from up fronts from the rams was not where it should be. It was that pass rush especially was pretty good against the bears but not fantastic in week. One it was. It was certainly more than good enough but the bears terrible offensive line. The colts have a better offensive line..

"Stop being annoying. It's not that serious bro. it's just football. I'm going to swipe left. Also but i'm gonna have it from a different perspective. Which is i. Don't blame anybody's personal relationships for poor performance on the field. I mean it just so happens that the packers looked yesterday and they made the new orleans saints look really really great yesterday but i thought what aaron rodgers said after the game was really interesting. This is of course after he put his hair in his man bun. And i don't care how rich you are. How famous you are. How great you are. I had a man bun. I'm here to tell you we all looked terrible in the mand bunch but aaron rodgers said yesterday's like hey it's one game like we played really badly. It's still only one game and there are still sixteen more games. Yeah let's see what happens to the packers before it's all said and done. Well remember they. They got their butts kicked against tampa in tampa aaron. How terrible game then to and it worked out okay. After that i think it was like week five or whatever it was last year and they still made it to the and dial like yeah. It will work out. It'll be just fine by the way. Jameis winston and sean payton. I love that marriage. When i was filling in for max a couple of weeks ago i was all over that like when they were debating. This tastes hilfiger tastes. He'll he'll give jamison coach and let's see what he can do and so far so good tastes. Them hill was a guy that was on the new orleans saints roster on the kickoff coverage team and they figured out you know what he's too good of an athlete to go. Let's find a way to use him. That's where this whole kind of swiss army knife position came. But he's not a real quarterback. He's a gimmick quarterback. Yes that's exactly what he is. He's a good quarterback all right. Speaking of gimmicks are very popular gimmick radio. Tinder is done for today every day at five thirty. Make sure you're listening to radio. Tinder we got it. Because lindsey brought it eight seven seven ten espn. I know we've got a fool. Border calls people that want to chime in on se. That people klay hilton's go. Who do you wanna see. Why how do you feel about the clara. Did they waste too much time with this situation. Eight seven seven seven ten. Espn if you're ucla. Fan how are you feeling about this situation at the moment. Bring it strong. Give it to us at eight. Seven seven seven. Espn eight seven seven. Seven three seven seven six. Also you have performance anxiety and public restroom. Saw you know what. I'm talking about spring. We'll get to that plus news on the nba. That you're gonna wanna be cleaned onto if you're a laker fan explaining them. Yeah man i. It's so every time. I listened to park and i. I have a lot of his songs in my phone. I find myself just going man. I missed that dude and not only for his music obviously but just his social commentary like. He's such a brilliant dude. He was such a great artists. Like you know. I'm sure many people our age kind of know how how town he was beyond just wrapping performing like he was an unbelievable dancer like he. I believe he went to juilliard like he was an incredible talent. Man is still to this day. Twenty five years later whenever it's been sorely missed man. Twenty-five years is incredible. And it just reminds me george that this saturday was september eleventh and it was the twenty year anniversary of nine eleven. Two thousand one. And i took a picture this past saturday with my four kids. We went to a bar to watch football game. Because my kids all know this quarterback from notre dame he went to high school in san diego. My kids all knew the guy so we went to this bar to watch this game. And i took a picture and i realized that on september eleventh. Two thousand one. I had one child who was about six months old at that time. And i looked at this picture. Look at these kids. Twenty one thousand nine hundred seventeen fourteen. Wow that's twenty years. That's how you kind of measure the years twenty five years flu like that twenty years the same deal so shout out to pock and shout out to everybody that was thinking about nine eleven this past saturday. Yeah for sure. Obviously happened in vegas and mike tyson after mike tyson fight and all that speaking of vegas vegas raiders are playing at the moment and scoreless with two minutes to go in the first quarter. We'll keep you up to date on how that's going. Speaking of the raiders. Though in vegas retired about keyshawn the other day we played that audio whatever keyshawn had derek carr and his top five and i felt that was a little bit of a troll job like by the way the ravens just scored a long touchdown touchdown run their run middle. Right through the gut of the raiders. Defense tight tyson. Williams thirty five yard. Td run and a lot of people. Now have him on their fantasy team. Because gus edwards also went down We all know. Jacob dobbins with two for the ravens but kisha benching. Derek carr was in his top five and elite quarterbacks. And i i just felt like had to be atro- gruden because i i don't see derek carving. A top. five quarterback is easy. Like is he top of anything like individually scott. You covered the nfl for a long time. You played college football you you are in training camps in the nfl. You know. i'm talking about arm strength accuracy. Anything like is there anything you can look at derek carr and you say to yourself. That guy is at this particular skills at within the quarterback. Construct there's not one thing that i can think of not one thing it all that derek carr top five quarterback in the nfl not anything not in forty yard dash time not in two hundred twenty five pound bench. Press not in. Throw the ball as far as you can throw it not in terms of speed not in terms of accuracy. Now look his whole perception could change or at least my perception of him could change. If all of a sudden the raiders became a winning team. And maybe derek carr finds himself playing in a super bowl. My perception of derek carr is that he is a middle of the road. Average starting quarterback. And if i were the raiders. You know the one thing i'd be thinking about is i look at the rest of the division george and i'd say okay so kansas city has the number one guy in the nfl. The chargers have a young kid who only in his second year. Who already looks like a superstar coming off last year. What he did this past weekend in washington while denver doesn't really have their quarterback situation handled per se. Teddy bridgewater look pretty good this past weekend. Derek carr just always looks to me like a middle of the road guy so until he gets to the playoffs. That's how i'm gonna perceive him. Which by the way. George gets us right back to matthew stafford i perceived matthew stafford the same way and detroit. He's a good quarterback with really good stats. And he's a super tough durable guy who can play through injuries but all of that being said he individually was unable to bring everybody else around him up to his level. Now it's football. It's not basketball. He's one guy in eleven. And he played for a terrible franchise. All those things are true. But he just couldn't elevate everybody and now he's with the rams where he doesn't necessarily have to because the rams are used to winning are accustomed to it and they expect it and there's the big difference for me. Yeah i mean. Look i i just think that i look at matthew stafford though compared to derek carr like matthew. Stafford's got a gun bro. Like that thing is should be illegal to carry. You know what. I'm saying like eight a licensed to carry that. Yeah i seriously dude. So i don't see their that. Like i said i look at derek carr and i think he overachieved in two thousand sixteen or whatever it was and he's a good quarterback not a great one. Good in the sense of if if you would have put derek carr on that ravens team that joe flacco on the role. They'd win the super bowl. He's that good I think he's better than joe. Flacco was at that at that point but that team was like the perfect defense basically or one of the perfect events like a perfect storm. And that's what you need. You need like a perfect storm. Ryan tannehill under another one of those guys even though he's a little more mobile than derek carr where tennessee last year lightning in a bottle. They've got a great running game. They agreed lie..
Matthew Stafford Set Two Career-Highs in His First Game With the Rams
"Everyone was watching in la as matthew stafford made his rams debut now. I thought there was a lot of pressure. Actually on mcvay because at yellowstone i got to make. I'm teasing. meet earlier. Anna anna. It's contagious. You take a guy number one overall. He takes you to a super bowl. He makes to pro bowls you trade him plus two ones any three boy. That new guy. You bring better baller. But that's why he's the coach. And we're not ed something that we didn't see. He's off in kabul. Listen jacuzzis effort. Always had that crazy top. Whatever happened what happened. They just sounds awkward. Cousy or whatever the case is his. I q really just won me over and jacuzzi and commerce three hundred twenty one passing yards three passing touchdowns no interceptions. According to elias stafford is the first player in. Nfl history to win his team. Debut while passing for three hundred yards three touchdowns and no interceptions
Stafford Leads LA Rams Past Bears 34-14 in Dynamic Debut
"In his first game with his new team rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw three touchdown passes in a thirty four to fourteen win over the bears in the new place and and being able to come out you know we going I want to get a win and play the way we did feels good a lot of work to be done but it's definitely good Sir Stafford connected with van Jefferson Cooper Kupp and Robert woods for scores and he finished with three hundred twenty one passing yards Andy Dalton threw for two oh six in his bears debut but had an interception and a fumble LA lead just thirteen seven at halftime but pulled away with three second half touchdowns mark Myers Inglewood California

"Calls. Eight seven seven. Nine thousand nine on fox peter king in many. He's not the only one everybody's got the rams. They got their magic quarterback shaw mcveigh's genius. They got the greatest defense and on the planet. Do you buy in you by matthew stafford in the rams stafford the mvp and the rams win the super bowl. How's that andrew in detroit. You're on the odd couple of fox sports radio. What's up arab. If you know anything about detroit. I'm gonna tell you this. If you believe in stafford. I got a bridge on lynnwood. I'm willing to sell but let's get this all the way clear for years. I i've been lying die hard. I have in matthew staffer supporter and broke. My heart Many many times to the point where my wife is said. Because she doesn't want my kids. I have to go through the pain and suffering that. I had to go through now. Let's get this all the way clear. Mattress ever has great arm talent out. He's one of the best arm talents in the league but it's just something between his shoulders mentality wise when he has a receiver who can get the first down or when he wanted to check it down fear when the game is getting close and he thinks he can make a a pass where he nell is double triple cover and he's still passes it. I don't understand. So i'm i'm not I'm thinking ramzan honestly will come in third in division And i believe playoff no playoffs. Why get actually. I got the saints. I got the states making the play. Offs i got the bears making a playoff swat. The by the end of the season feels would take over and he and they will make the playoffs. All right andrew. We appreciate it. Thank you so much calling from the d. neil in la on am five seventy la sports. What's up fellas Transplanted detroit her. Oh wow okay. Neil been here since seventy three back to the way back to the early sixties with the packers and lions and the original turkey bowl. Dafur fan wants detroiter. Always detroiter pisses red wings. Michigan michigan state. You of the perry went to school with him some slim pickings in detroit right right now. I'm thirty years have been i mean for the lion. One and we were in the magazine. Okay all right well you got neil you you bye stafford. Mvp know what he's missing if he's ever has a sense of urgency when the games on the line what he does is he. He focused a locked it on one receiver. It like the previous caller throwing the double and triple coverage and that to me blows my mind sometime. He didn't even go through his progressions at twelve thirteen or fourteen years. he's still blocking on one receiver. All right well. This is a big year. this is rob going. No you're right chris for it to be Whether or not you know like this is one of those proven if he goes out and does some people say that maybe it was the lines. If he doesn't then he'll be it'll be hard for people look at them any other way to say and i'm not saying one year. Maybe it's not. I mean they're a good team. You know what i'm saying. Allow everybody's in is the some people have picked them. You know knowledgeable people picking them to go to super bowl. So randy oregon. You're on the odd couple of fox sports radio. "That's good would you say that's good but then here okay. The balancing act is now lost. Not because of offense defense is within the office. Entra offense sony michelle. Daryl hinders say like. Is that really playoff. Talk mattress stafford be real. You can't of your self conscious. You can live consciously because that's all you're rational thought and that's over you just rhetoric using words. Yes coach already but d. Dan you never did this before. I'm good. I'm after stafford's okay playoffs. Bring a game to you. Start star slow handball off. You handed the ball off the who headed the ball of and doing what. What kind of success are they gonna having their running game in those playoff moments when you know everything intensifies. That's my only conversation not just going to get it done. But he needs a balance in that. Tom brady needed a balancing act last year to finally get over the hump and get it done. Are they go. Have that intro offense. Balancing bucky no. They're not gonna have the balancing act. They're not going to be able to get it done because they don't have a dynamic that's going to change the cover. They're going to have to put their so. Matthew stafford matthew stafford now detroit west basically. He's in the same offense that he was here. He doesn't have the weapons around the and we're gonna complain about. Oh he needs more he needs. He needs that at some point. Matthew is going to be able to put the entire office on his back when he's having to do it in a division that is harder. 'cause now you have to deal with the yellow san francisco to monsters and so i just don't know how team gets better. I like matthew stafford. But i just not a believer that this often is better with the pieces that they have place around the because the running game is still not a e in the office man they. La is rooting for the rams. I think they are going to be an nfc championship game but beyond that. Just don't mess up so far stadium. We all play because you know the week after my charges being there every single we'll be messing it up. Let's head to dallas. Thank mccarthy missed. The playoffs in his first season with cowboys. but now it's on to year. Two fellas dallas morning news wrote mccarthyesque talked about super bowl or bus for his team at peten all season and making the playoffs might be enough to stop jerry jones from having the clock mark. The clock already ticket. Top mike mccarthy yeah of course it is. I mean this is a production business. I understand that you lost your quarterback last year so you got to get a little bit of a hall pass there but as talented is that roster is especially on the offensive side of the ball if you're not winning that division. There's something wrong now you know. The giants have their issues on offense. There's no question about that. I think the you know the washington football team has got their own set of issues. Although i think they're lying scrimmages is tremendous but you look at how bad that that All division was last year throat. Philadelphian there and the expectation if you play in dallas coach in dallas for jerry jones is we need to win the division. And so if you don't win the division with that with the receiving core they have with the offense of wine with. I mean for for me. It's it's win the division or bus from a garth and interesting you say that Because playing a game you know that yes a production business but there are some caveats if your first rounder struggles. You're a second round of their struggles. I don't give damn produced some not. He's still going to be here to clock's ticking just yet on you because it's like a real weird mix of expectations and desire. So let's just say last year they're going to give him a breakfast ball. Golfers out there little mulligan it turns would that was but let me remind you. Douse is not the only place that has high expectations. Mike mccarthy was at a place name. Titletown i wonder if they had super bowl. Expectations is built into the name. Of course they did is called titletown. Now what did he do in titletown. Oh when he finally got the quarterback the future quarterback they'll his dreams in aaron rodgers. Two thousand and eight. You know what their record was. Six and ten a-rod is played that entire year last year. He had a quarterback to future and dak prescott. He only play four ish game for him. No at record was last year six and ten. Damn if i'm jerry jones. I'm looking at him. He started off six ten inquiry bay. How did that and three years later. Super bowl champions. Oh if anything. The clock is ticking. In terms of how long. It's gonna take this town to win the super bowl by like he did in green bay but in terms of the clock is ticking to expire him as the head coach. All oh they gave him a mulligan. Dany started that clock. That's my thinking as well as you get a mulligan for last year because your quarterback hugo across the quarterback was ugo across. Nfl if they lose their starting quarterbacks you don't expect them to have a great year. That's just the reality of where we are at. Luckily for mike mccarthy in dallas cowboys. Let's just be honest. Their division stinks. We not talking about mark. Schleyer vision is there to be won by the cowboys. If they can stay healthy that offensive line already lie on collins. He probably won't play next thursday in so that was the key. Their offensive line can't stay healthy bed prescott. New look at san francisco with jimmy g. Say whatever you want about jimmy g. when he's in a game the forty niners play well when he's not in a game they don't play well and it's no different across the league. Those starting quarterback your team will struggle. But you look jerry. Johnson he gay jason garrett nine years i believe he chair galliani coach. I can recall says jerry jones on the team. He got fired after his second year. That happened mike mccarthy. No there's a fire under him but this is the vision in my opinion is so bad. It's there to be taken. Let me ask you guys spoke this. Because what if for instance that prescott stays healthy based on relatively healthy on the office side of the ball and they still don't win this division because i. I know there's expectations dirt there dallas cowboys running a lot and they have offensively. They'd got some some pieces. So let's say they all those guys stay healthy and their seven nine beta. Don't make the playoffs. They don't win the division then. What are the expectations for mccarthy. Then what happens. Do they give them another mulligan. Another amina during around if you play with me the whole damn sleeve. That's gonna caulk go start ticking. But let's not act like with jimmy. Johnson went one in fifteen. The clock was ticking. And then jimmy. Johnson stayed five years. One fifteen. Like like you said. Tj we gave jason garrett nine and a half seasons half. He got nine and a half. He went eight eight first year. Not even a winning season. So jerry's a little more patient then reputation for cs and leaves you to but i'm looking at this situation. They are going to win. I don't know if they're going to win ten games where they're going to win this division and it probably won't even take teen gangs to win this division. That's the funny thing about this division right now but what you're trying to do. Stake is something. That's universal when turns to the law of all coaches win there. What's going to happen to you. What are you going to take. But if you lose your starting quarterback and you win only six games. And last time i saw you want a super bowl. It took you three years at the winter. Six game we're going to start the clock just yet because right now. This is parallel to a situation. You went through that ended in success so dish year. They don't win. They don't win a division. They don't win ten plus gangs. I'm starting to clock with you but right now in this moment. Oh no clock is.

"Division. I think they lose to washington in the first all that talking. You still think the cowboys women division. Yes we'll lose to washington okay. I think both teams make think. I think i think we'll be surprised that dallas wins the division offenses talented. They are really really talented. But it comes to winning championships. i think defense championships lewis anything yet. Look i bowl upset along. I think washington is going to win this division. I think dallas is upside. Their ceiling is division winter. But i don't think they have enough to deal with the talk division the division winners throughout the rest of the they can't deal with green bay. They're not going to deal with tampa not going to be able to deal with whoever ultimately comes out of the west all right so they're just not going to be able to now. I've always said that. Dallas cowboys are always surrounded by your rational expectations. Because they're america's team now they're on hard knocks did you see that drone footage of flying the star. I'm i'm i'm all on dallas as far as all the glitz and the glamour and all the expectations come from hell. I have high expectations to expectations of them to after seeing that drone footage but the reality the reality is this. There's too many unknowns especially when you're talking about winning football at the highest level is a three phase proposition is not just about deck more for five thousand yards and cd inamori. In ezekiel those guys are all great. I love those guys. I would i would. I would not wanna play against them. Those guys are are big time playmakers but we know that it's a three-phase proposition when you're talking about winning playoff games and getting ultimately to the super bowl which is where jerry jones said he would do anything to get back to buy three phases special teams and defense have to hold up there into the bargain. I like dan quinn. Unlike his energy. I like his pedigree. I like where he comes from. A mall lid on the whole seattle mantra plane fast and physical and relentless in rushing the passer big strong secondary guys in knocking the crap out of people. They've been proven anything yet. Nothing and last year their defense was flat out. Let out embarrassing. So he has to kinda like have them unlearn everything that they learned under mike nolan. Start over from scratch. That's why i've said all along. You really want to talk about what dallas is ceiling is going to be. Don't talk to me about dag and we know what those guys can do. Tell me this. Tell me what kind of year. Mike parsons is going to have. Tell me what kind of year trayvon digs is going to have. Tell me what those guys are going to do. Tell me if late and vandross is going to stay healthy. Tell me what jalen smith is going to do. And i'll tell you what dallas is upside ultimately going to be. Because i don't know what it's going to be worse. Look let me let me let me let me tell you until you always be worth louis. Let me tell you you. Louis louis check this out there are no questions about dallas's offense you could say dax arm. Maybe a healthy. That was offensively is fine defensively. It's been the issue dan. Quinn is the answer to the defensive. Question is so everyone talks. About how bad playing. Check it out. But he's coaching and coaching matters to vic fangio go to mig fangio and the chicago bears in two thousand fifteen vic. Fangio was well known as one of the best defensive minds and football. The chicago bears in twenty fourteen when the thirty second ranked defense in the nfl. Thirty two. that's worse because there are only thirty two teams vic fangio comes in two thousand fifteen. They go from thirty two to nineteen. It's not amazing. But it's better. He's building a culture. Two thousand sixteen. They go to number nine right still getting better. Two thousand seventeen drop a little bit ten and two thousand eighteen remember that twenty. Eighteen chicago bears defense. Everyone talked about the defense in the league. Number one defense number one defense because of a coordinator. Yes there were. There were new players on the team but a coordinator can change everything. And we saw that even even even with dan quinn in seattle when he came and took them to the number one defense at two thousand thirteen twenty fourteen. It's so yes. The question can be does dallas. Have the players the personnel. Play the kind of defense that dan quinn is used to playing that questions to be answered but will they be better on defense. The answer is absolutely yes now. On special teams briefly. John john fossil we all know him bones right like he's one of the best coordinator special teams coordinators in the nfl. We all saw la rams all the trick plays like he's the he's the expert when it comes to the special teams and so yes. There's no questions offensively outside of dax arm which are all talking about. Is he healthy. Or is he not but defensively and this is why. I believe that the dallas cowboys will in fact make the playoffs. Lafayette win the division. Because defensively dan. Quinn is entering those questions with guys like jake. Jalen with guys like van. Deresh with guys like michael parsons with that. He's answering those questions. Defensively starts now. And that's what he's doing. I tell i gotta stop you. Because i was with you. I'm with you on the cowboys winning the division. What what gets me as you laid out all this evidence for why the cowboys will be better than last year and then turn around and said that they're gonna lose to washington in the first round. I'm with you on the cowboys and to lose lose point. I don't think this defense will be worse. I don't think he can be worse last year. We talk about points per game given up their twenty eighth. We talk about yards per game. Up last year twenty third. I guess statistically sure they could drop to thirty two but based on all the evidence that was pointed out here. I don't think dan will allow that to happen. And that's why. I'm high on the cowboys. Provided dacca's healthy. I'm high on the cowboys in this division. This this this division is not good and so when you think of a ceiling i do. I don't see them to the title game. And that's the thing they have the potential but we have repeatedly been disappointed by this cowboys team. So that's why. I'm more reserve. But i lose it to washington in the first round a bit. That's interesting well. Let me tell you why. So we presented the case for the dallas cowboys. Let me just go and louis from you on this as well. 'cause kimberly she's gotten knock knock me all the way but let me tell you why. Washington football team gives legit right. Why put them over the cowboys when it comes to the playoffs when this sticking point not to win the division but to the new york giants did it when they won the super bowl. You don't have to be or division winter to go win the super bowl. Go into playoff game but that that's not my point. My point. is this coaching matters. Once again going back not even defensive. Coaching head coaching ron rivera to time coach of the year. By he's building a culture the same culture we saw carolina carolina washington's. Not there yet. i believe. Washington is a quarterback away from where they want to be but the same culture that they build in carolina. That's a culture that you really see shades of that with the buffalo bills. Sean mcdermott there with him as well. That same culture that we're seeing. I think you're seeing that culture in washington as well and so when it comes to coaching i put. I put ron rivera above mike mccarthy when it comes to coaching when it matters and so that's why i got both those teams making the playoffs but i have washington edging. Edging the cowboys down. Look i disagree with that. I mean i think washington has resolve and the level of toughness on their football team where it matters the most which is look i. I'm with you on the whole ron rivera thing. And i'd like mike mccarthy. I love mike mccarthy. Mike mccarthy i've known him for a long time than twenty years all right but i believe that this football where it matters the most on the football field washington has a bunch of guys that can flat out play. Now they can't i mean and they are built strong down the middle. This is.

"We can't even though we try. We still don't know the levels of competitiveness in this league it is a cutthroat league and it is a league in which there are no excuses and i think that matthew stafford finding got everything that he wants but they still have to do it. And i think that that's one of the reasons why he was reticent to go into those details so that fear the fear that matthew stafford has that leads to want to preserve every miniscule edge from a reporter. What does that suggest to you about. What will be watching in la when he gets under center in the biggest opportunity of his life. Well we don't know right but the stakes are big in june. I was at this event at so-fi stadium in inglewood which is going to be the site of the super bowl in february and the rams andbranch fans kind of have this idea of. Hey we're going to be this year's bucks right. We're going to import a new quarterback and we're gonna play the super bowl and win the super bowl in our home stadium and stafford in. Sean mcvay were there. As part of this event kevin frazier. The broadcaster brought them on stage. And in one point. Frazier said to them. He said bring us the rings man. We expect them and it was interesting. Because mcveigh stafford both sitting next to each other kind of smiled and looked down and then look back up but neither really said anything and there is nothing to say. There's only the season ahead. And that's the thing that i think. They both internalize no more than anything. You can import a flashy quarterback you pair him with this generational offensive mind but super bowls are not one in june. They're not one in august one over the course of the season. Frankly the sheer site of you. He's scandalized by you. And actually in this encounter. He thinks you're the freak. But purdue pizza mouth. That thing tells a different story. His mouth is kind of faintly smiling. Like he's the mona lisa of west. Lafayette indiana with his lips closed but still conspicuously unstressed like this is not a grimace. He's wearing it is not a frown. His massive jaw and it is gigantic. It's kind of loose is giant chin cleft pretty tellingly. It's definitely unclenched. And so if you look closer in fact it honestly looks like purdue. Pete has seen this before now. Purdue pete might not want to admit that purdue. Pete might want to act like he's shocked and scandalised his eyebrows raised and everything but don't let those pupils fool. You perdue pete. He has seen some things done some things and now he's here the creepiest college mascot in america. So you might as well open your eyes at this point because what purdue pete has really wanted to see this entire time is you. I'm pablo torre and this has been. Espn daily. i'll talk to you tomorrow..

"So the twenty twenty season has come to an end for matthew stafford and the detroit lions and now. He's considering seriously getting out of there. How did that day unfold. So the lion season ended with a loss to the vikings that was similar to many losses during matthew stafford's career in which both played well throwing three touchdowns and came up. Just short stafford throws incomplete. Vikings finished with a win seven consecutive win over the detroit. Lions misfired on a two point conversion. That would have tied the game after the game. He decided that he wanted out and he told kelly that he wanted out and he was going to ask the lions for trade but the next morning he was already going back on it. Kelly walked into the kitchen and he was emptying dishwasher. He was very quiet. We talked about the nine for but we one hundred percent sure and he was pretty quiet and for matthew. You can tell his overall mood when he's just not saying much. Even around was having this conversation with themselves where he was reconsidering maybe deciding that he could gut through another year but when he left that morning to go back to the facility he asked kelly to say a little prayer for him He's just kind of silent and right before he left. He was like all right. Well you know wish we locked say for me and he met with the lions brass for many hours cried during that meeting i wanted to. I wanted to make sure that whatever happened to me. The lions got something in return for it as well. One of the best for both of us. And i felt at that point. The best thing for both of us was to seek a trait in and try to get as much as they could for me the semi to a place that i could hopefully succeed in and he came home knowing that he was entering his final couple weeks as a detroit lion and he was nervous about it and after a couple of weeks kelly said look. We gotta get outta here. I told matthew he was stressing out. Obviously there was a lot of stuff going on this point and we need to get away anyway. We need to get out of the country. I don't care where way from football so they ended up going to kabo and usually what happens in kabo stays in kabul but as i've learned in talking with stafford and with sean mcveigh they cannot stop talking about what happened in the kaaba. Is this locus of really. Nfl power as it turned out over this off season because there is matthew stafford. there is rams offensive. Tackle andrew whitworth a friend of matthews. Who's also on vacation. They're coincidentally and then they're also is. Sean mcveigh just randomly vacationing. It feels like skulduggery. I'll be honest with the year. It all feels like this could not have possibly been accidental but pullback veil for us on this vacation what was happening. How do you see that. It was accidental and drew. Brees was down there to kyle. Shanahan was down there to thinking that he might get involved in the matthew. Stafford kabo is just a place where. Nfl players sort of know together and possibly make moves habit. I've always thought that you get the best. Nfl gossip from being at the bar at the combine late or being at the hotel bar during nfl owners meeting up. I'm going to ask our bosses for two weeks. And i'm just going to go to the pool and see who rolls up you know. What of all the expense report schemes. I have heard throughout the years. That might be the greatest thou boone. Matthew landed there and he texted his friend. Andrew whitworth who also just happens to be the ran's offensive tackle We landed got to the hotel. And i told them. We're saying that the place where staying at and if he was anywhere close we could try and hook up plays golf. I think it takes me back like yeah. I'm at the pool. Andrew whitworth tech. Sean mcveigh to tell him that. Matthew stafford's there and matthew stafford's been in kabul less than an hour they all congress and magic happens. Shana said not too far over there. Probably watching tape or something on his on his phone but he was close by stafford. In sean mcvay just start talking intensely and kelly stafford didn't even realize that was sean mcveigh. She just thought that he looked so young. That he must have just been a friend of of ranger whitworth. I mean new sean. I didn't really know what he looked like. At this point. I was talking to his fiancee. I was like so. How do you guys each other. And she was like. Oh will my fiance coaches andrew. Like oh so so. They all are hanging out here around this pool. How quickly does it take for this trade to get orchestrated well. So mcveigh had heard that stafford wanted out and it was very quiet. One of the things that matthew stafford wanted he didn't wanna play the league game with the lions and so they both promised to keep this thing under the radar. The forty niners knew that stafford wanted out mcveigh had heard that stafford wanted out and it actually watched cut ups of him on his phone before this and they get to talking and mcvay brings up this game from two thousand sixteen. It was week seven. Sean mcveigh is the precocious. He's always precocious especially precocious offense coordinator for washington. And they're.

"Like the rams were the fit for us looking at it. In the short term there it was. It was really exciting. Space on the recent past success you know. It had been a bunch of years in the playoffs. A bunch of years with winning records once the trade happened and it was decided that i was going to be there. I wanted to make sure that. I was pulling my weight when the los angeles rams created for matthew stafford this off season. They handed one of the. Nfl's biggest arms to one of its biggest brains head. coach sean. Mcvay and while stafford in detroit was pretty easy to overlook on account of the general awfulness of lions. There is no ignoring the quarterback. Now not in hollywood not win nothing short of a super bowl which will be hosted in. La this postseason would disappoint today. Seth witter sham takes us behind the scenes of how the stafford trade went down. Would it all says about quarterbacks in the modern era in how kabo apparently is the nexus of power in the nfl. Pablo torre. it's wednesday. August twenty fifth. This is espn daily seth. I've summoned you here today. Because you've written this cover story on matthew stafford who i have now learned likes to be called matthew and not mad. A mistake i've been making for years and years now and it got me thinking that i really don't understand anything actually about matthew stafford or is interior monologue. What he's actually like. But you do because you spent all this time with him and his wife and his new coach. Sean mcveigh what did you learn about. Who matthew stafford is prepared to take over this franchise as the new star in. La matthew stafford is in a lot of ways. The most famous lease known quarterback. In the nfl seth wicker shammas covered the nfl for espn for twenty years. And he's kind of been in this relevant franchise his entire career. The only way it could have been worse if he had been drafted by the jets. And i think there's a lot of football fans who have never seen matthew stafford in his twelve years in the nfl. Play a complete game. No not because of injuries. Even though he has had his share but because he plays in a franchise that is never on primetime television except for thanksgiving and at one point. I asked him. What do you want out of the rest of your career. And i found his answer to be very earnest in humbling. I just want to be successful in know those teams. You really remember those teams that have success get to make runs and and you know whether it's playoff runs bruhns all that but I play this game to try and win super bowls and That's that's what i wanna do. I would love to Have the opportunity to play in that game. Many times possibly can from here on out. You know you think about all the quarterbacks who have authored their legends in the twelve years since matthew stafford has been the nfl with these big playoff moments in he has none of them he doesn't have a signature play And i think that he's very aware where he is in his career in. It's one of the reasons why he wanted out of detroit. You ask him at one. Point piece seth you talked to him and mcvay about the sheer number of prime time games. That are gonna be on television for the rams. It reminds me about something that i don't really ever think about either. Which is that timeslot for. Nfl teams not all of these things are created equal and the rams are going to be very much in the spotlight this season. They're not only going to be in the spotlight. But they're going to be under pressure. Because matthew stafford went to the los angeles rams engineered a trade there for one reason and that's to play in a super bowl and sean mcveigh wagered. His coaching career on another quarterback the second time couple years now for the chance to win a super bowl and so they're not only going to be on prime time. They're going to be expected to perform on primetime. Yeah in your piece. Seth you walk down this metaphorical memory lane with matthew stafford. And it's a ballroom in suburban los angeles. He's doing the thing that all famous quarterbacks do at some point where he signs like a million pieces of memorabilia and you realize that this is him walking you through his football life. What was walking down that memory lane like it was really interesting. So i got to this hotel north of los angeles and i walk into this ballroom and there are just rows and rows and rows of memorabilia and i walk up to stafford and as i got to him. He was signing university of georgia. Memorabilia we got to talk about his time in georgia where he started for three years and left georgia known as a winner. Someone who had performed well in bowl games. And then he goes. I overall to the lions they were the first winless team in the modern. Nfl history they were owen. Sixteen team right. you know. He got to detroit win. The city was at its lowest in two thousand nine during the great recession. And i think that he took a lot of pride in his dream of delivering that franchise a super bowl. He showed some promises. a rookie. had a great one of the most memorable games ever on. Nfl films where he blew out shoulder. And through his fifth and game winning touchdown pass as time expired. Wanna be somewhere to go down on. The field is not getting up early on the ground. And hearing the time. I'll call for some reason in my head that clicked it. I had a chance to come back in the game. I you know the kind of moment that showed promise that showed that he was not only going to deliver as a number one pick but that he was a special number one pick and he ended up leading the lions to three playoff games. Didn't win any of them but they were kind of spread out in sprinkled throughout his career. And i don't think the lions were ever able to get anything going. Yeah oh hold on a second year. Because the lion seth. They've never made a super bowl ever so it's not entirely matthew stafford's fault it's safe to say on that front but the thing about matthew stafford that makes people think that he can be this savior type figure. Let's be very honest about it. Is his arm. Stafford beautiful sites staffer. How would you describe his arm. And what makes that thing special. You know. I think that everything. That patrick mahomes get celebrated for now throwing off platform the indifference to stepping into passes shifting his arm to different angles. Depending on what windows are open. Matthew stafford has been doing for twelve years and a lot of people. Just don't notice it because we didn't see it. We did see in that way not that often. No matthew stafford is the type of wondrous arm. That's allowed him to problem. Solve at a high level. That's a gift. That's exclusive to the great arms. The ball just looks differently coming out of their hand. And that's the type of thing that matthew stafford has had his entire career. He's always had that blessed arm. And the lion. Seth i mean they were blessed to have that arm for as long as they did. I mean this is the franchise that is most famous for early. Retirements of it superstars right. I mean this is barry. Sanders retiring famously. Early calvin johnson going to do the same and stafford. I think was the guy they hoped would survive the whole lions experience. But he's also the guy who was this quintessential winter at georgia as you say so him becoming the face of a quintessential loser..
Interview with Crime Writer Clay Stafford: S. 7, Ep. 2 - burst 5
"If you've you haven't been to cure nashville you should. You should should good because it is a. It is a family supportive people. Not that other conferences aren't but that is what we're geared for that family support people and looking looking at my background. You've you may have looked into it. I'm appalachian kid. I grew up in the middle of nowhere with railroad tracks. And i knew those railroad tracks went somewhere but no idea where but i dreamed about going beyond that and there was absolutely no reason that i should ever have found myself in new york in los angeles in miami coming from the region that i came from the circumstances that i came from except for people helping me reaching down and saying you know this guy. He's really trying. You've got a absolute. You've got a little bit of talent. I'll help him out. I give him a chance to see if he can prove himself. And people have been so kind to me over the year years. And that is the impetus for creating cure nashville. So when everybody comes together the whole idea is leave your ego at the door because you are there to help other people what we do is if you come to cure nashville your gonna be a speaker there from law enforcement to guess honor to regular attendees you have to be willing to give your business card to everybody there to build that relationship so that people have a network in support to be able to go to the next level. Now if you've looked at who at how the schedule is laid out. We've got things for beginning writers people who go and i'm second really beginning. Writers people who go i have an idea but i'm not sure how to write a book. Starting there all the way through to people who are already new york times bestsellers who show up. Not because their guests of honors they show up as attendees because they want to take our marketing classes and our publicity sessions to be able to see. How do we go to that next level. How do we use the new technology. And so we've got this wide range of people who were there and when you have that mix of those newbies versus really really good veterans. You've got such a wealth of networking a wealth of opportunity of information. If you just take advantage of it in that one thing and we we. We go to the embassy suites hotel in cool springs which is right outside of historic franklin in about twenty fifteen. Twenty minutes from downtown broadway nashville. So you can get you know you can go down to the broadway and have on if you want to or you can go to the civil war harper river rafting. Whatever you'd like to do here in the historic side so that a lot of people come here with bringing their family and do a vacation but You bring all of those people together and then we have just you know sharing so it's with the covert to answer your question the covert. I think we're cool. This year really disrupted and broke my heart last year but for our area where we live. it's not the issue that it was but again encouraging people. If you have some sort of issue health issue whatever you feel more comfortable wearing a mask at the hotel in some of their situations requires maybe some people who wear a mask. If there's there's an thing but once you get into the rooms it's up to you So you know it's I think we're we're coming back to some degree of norm which i am so happy

"I didn't realize this until before the show started. But mike is has already planned a big trip in. This is actually a really cool one. Mike's gonna go to see the lions take on matthew stafford and the los angeles rams excited your dream. Yeah yeah yeah been trying Since they announced the schedule to find. I mean they're expensive tickets. So i i mean i might. Seats are way way in the back. But still i have seats. You know what i mean. yeah. I'm super super super. Excited always always like a cool thing whenever you know a player gets traded. No matter what team you know they go to whatever but especially when they leave detroit to go to another team. You always want to go and watch them. Kill our team well. And the two. Quarterbacks are switching teams jared or jaffer goff jared goff jared goff thought you were a better football fan than that i don't need guy was the number one pick in the draft super bowl quarterback. I'm a giant stafford fan like. Yeah yeah.
McVay in Better Mood, Says He's Better Coach With Stafford
"Story will bring back in. Involves these relationships in the nfl between coaching quarterback that we've talked about several times when you have that you know you got something special when the coach and the quarterback are on the same page when they kind of have that unity. You saw what. What tom brady. And bruce arians able to do right away You obviously see what you have in kansas. City greg's andy. Reid patrick mahomes these. These duos are very important. We thought maybe. Sean mcvay jared goff where we're going to be that power couple. They did get to a super bowl but then things broke up pretty quickly there. And sean mcvay is this guy that clearly is the excitable one out of the two right is that goes without saying so mcveigh. Listen to how he talks about how he feels about now having matthew stafford at his as his quarterback and he did this during a press conference to promote the super bowl in. La in the rams head coach. Let's just say gushed very heavy. Thank you seem like you're in a better mood aussies. You're damn right. I am so this guy He's a special guy. One of the best ways that i can describe him when you hear people that have been around him. There's a there's a known confidence where it when he walks into a room noah's field presence but he's got a great humility about himself at. Everybody loves being around him and he's one of those guys that is it true igniter makes everybody around him better. I feel like i can come up better. Coaching a few months that we've been able to spend together and we're looking forward to get things together. Sounds pretty excited about this new relationship. He's got about stafford and all he can bring in all he's already brought to the franchise what it means to him. What it's done for him as a coach that sounds like a guy that is much happier in his new
Is Tutu Atwell Too Small to Succeed in the NFL? - burst 10
"Okay. This next receiver is a guy that you and i are. differ a lot on and with twenty fifth pick of the second round. The la rams selected to at well from louisville. Receive our end. I get their concerns. Ideal disguise five nine hundred fifty five hundred sixty pounds. People are questioning whether he's gonna be physical enough in the nfl. however this is a player. The i compare to markey's brown. I think that in order to be successful. He's going to have to gain a little bit more weight. But i think that to out will be able to develop especially with the la rams who don't need in the -sarily to be great outta the gecko. But i think that the upside for two atwal is especially there especially if he's going to have the matthew stafford throwing the ball and so it was back to murky brown when he was in college him and he had similar stats. Which is why. I'm bringing up the comparison the first place in his junior. He had seventy five receptions for one thousand three hundred eighteen yards in ten touchdowns. Now let me bring up to two atwal stats from his sophomore season. And they were very similar which end so to atwell in his sophomore year he had sixty nine sevens for one thousand two hundred seventy two yards and eleven receiving touchdowns and so these two guys. Besides the fact marquees brown ways a little bit more to travel or comparable. And if you're an you're seeing now to to out while falling to the fourth maybe even fifth out of your dynasty da and for me. I think that's a little bit ridiculous. Because for a guy that had a similar career to marquees brat and his cod season and similar upset that he should be considered a third round prospect for you and your dynasty rookie draft. And i'd say right now. Marcus brand is probably a second round. Pick but i think he could be worth a second or the round pick and this guy. Who's extremely fast as well. I think he's going to create separations and he's not just the speedster. He's not just the speedster he he gets receptionist as well on anyone who puts up almost thirteen hundred receiving yards in college. Season is a guy that is a good all amount of receiver as well. So don't just think of him as a speedster guy gonna occasionally break open deep here and there so yeah. I'm a big fan of to at wall of the i know Oh and one one last thing. He was picked in the second round so clearly. The rams do have a plan for two while. They're not just investing a second round pick in a receiver that they don't see being a great receiver in the long term and this by the way was the rams first pick all draft. If i'm correct so they might have even viewed him as a late first round pick. We don't know. But the fact that they spent their first round pick onto to By having good receivers shows you how much demands believe into Anyways kyle the floor is yours as to why you don't believe in to atwell. Well it says so much that i don't believe in two two at well. It's the fact. That so i am from louisville in. I watched a lot of this kid. He is a very good receiver. I agree with you. He's not just a burner. he is a good polish receiver and a lot of facets of football but my biggest problem is literally is just. This is and the fact that he's completely buried on the depth chart. I don't see any Any possibility of him getting in and becoming a number one receiver on that team like anytime. Soon robert woods. Anne cooper kupp. Both resigned extensions For last year So you already got those positions locked up now. You lose josh rhinos. But they already spent high draft capital on jefferson. Dan jefferson last year. So that position was already and then they spent another was a third or early fourth round. Pick onto harris harris could be used as a tight end. I think a lot of people saying he's going to be a tight end he he. They say he's listed as a tight end but he also weighs about twenty so if anything he's going to be like a a move titan. I don't see him being like inland blocker. But you already have tyler higby as well. You know it's just it's just a really crowded And you also have to sean jackson that they stopped they brought in you know so i. I'm just not sold that there's any opportunity for at least in the first year to now you like you said maybe a if you invest in this guy at the late third fourth round Me personally i'd rather just take dark throws on running backs. At this point you know even a third. The guys are projected to be thirds shrink or shrink. You know a rash of injuries and all of a sudden guys are going to get plight. Be starters and they're going to be valuable. You can train them. You know it would take a stream lee amount of circumstances for for you to for him to get on the plainfield him to productive enough for another team to to trade for him. It's just wide receivers just a position that you know if you don't put up stats people don't really wanna trade for him at all. I mean it's as simple as that you know and i know he has draft capital That's about the only thing. I think he has known. Form at one hundred fifty five pounds. I just don't know if it's worth the headache you know. But then again it only takes one person to trade and if you're only drafting him with the mindset of trading him than you're probably not gonna draft to tell to till In the first place. And if i don't know if it necessarily applies to atwells value the fact that the community hates him. Because there's going to be at least one guy and if you put up the stats. People are going to be willing to trade for him. So i i get that point but at the same time. I don't know if that necessarily applies to At wellness fair. Knock about the onto to at atwill. Because it's not actually something that to two at walt dead. It's more of the perception that people have about two. But it's it's what he didn't do. He didn't gain the weight which i think he will in the way he's still what in nineteen twenty years old. I think he's still
Drew Lock on Tuning Out Off-Season Rumors
"Let's start with drew. Lock the incumbent and he was asked to part question right off the top about how the quarterback competition effects his mindset as well as working with peyton manning but drew really thoughtful answers and I wanna you hear the whole thing. the entire press conference where actually. I don't know if i got to ask a question. In fact i didn't and i took exception to but it was remedied. I ask the first question to teddy so here though is drew talking about the mindset of the competition and getting the chance to work with peyton manning this offseason think being in a quarterback competition and then sort of say if you were to say last year not being in one your mindset does change. It'll come into your key. Dorothy quarterback for this team and that's the mindset. That i have right now. I'm excited to be able to be there at this competition in push myself to hold level that Wouldn't have gotten to without this as far as aden as he can be able to give. His time was worth a lot of to my game with more than i think. I'll ever realizing for him dating do that for me in taking the time on his day to be able to do that a. so subtle things where like i am. More is on on film on technique from guy. That's the best for best for a really long. Time was nice having my courtroom dealer with a couple of for you. How were you able to blackout the rumors of the broncos activity. This autism was stafford. Maybe watson maybe rogers maybe fields was that difficult on no or not no. It was not. Because i decided that i was gonna develop a plan in this offseason really long days but it was gonna be worth every single second of

Your virtual cooking classes during the pandemic and we'd all meet up there and learn to cook and then we'd have our family sort of reunion on zoom after and so forth and wow like my brother-in-law's baking your bread and making your recipe and my niece. who's diet. I mean there are a ton of people out and the farm stands and they were like they were teaming with asparagus. There are a lot of ramps rhubarb All like tender like the baby spinach baby. Swiss chard baby kale so much. Good stuff it was so fun. I came home like with two huge bags loaded with stuff

BideniInitiative seeks to force Seattle to fund homeless housing and then clear camps
"Address their ongoing problem with homelessness. Most are intense on sidewalks in city parks. Some are just a few feet from a middle school. The problem has only gotten worse during the pandemic, despite billions of dollars being spent by big cities to move thousands of homeless people from group shelters to their own hotel rooms. It's a program started by President Trump run by FEMA and now being expanded by President Biden. Biden invoked the Stafford Act to increase the reimbursement rate. Two cities from 75% to 100 per se. Philadelphia Eagles CB Darius Slay on Matthew Stafford trade to Los Angeles Rams, what to expect from Jalen Hurts
"And all pro a pro bowler the interception leader in the entire. Nfl in the year. Two thousand seventeen now philadelphia. Eagles formerly of the lions ladies and gentlemen dairy slack pickling was good. It was good how you doing man not too shabby. I just sneezed a couple of times. Because i'm allergic to the cable companies over charging people it's unbelievable. What's going on out here. Darius i just saw you i believe you were talking about you. Stafford with the nfl films. He is leaving officially now. We'll get into you by the way i want. You know we do appreciate you coming on. We think you're baller. We'll talk about your life as well. But i would like your thoughts on something. It's happening pretty topical here. Matthew stafford is going to the los angeles rams night. The guy who wore number nine put out a nine minute video via the detroit. Lions which basically was emotional. It was a beautiful watch. Evan fox diehard lions van damme. your. I almost cry me so there was. Yeah yeah me too. I got a little. What if there's a lot of people i think are about to be introduced to matthew stafford. 'cause when your quarterback for the lines are not necessarily on prime time television all the time except for maybe thanksgiving. He's an absolute stud. And i think a lot of people are about to learn that. Do you feel the same way as somebody that was shared a field with him. For what six seven years or whatever in detroit and he got mad they gotta gotta go be unbelievable down man on the la. He's a very talented man. Smart guy he will work hard and He's a great leader. Man lead by example. He approached practice. The right way Like i never seen it. professionals is a long time and he. He's he's the man what is what do you think he's gonna do to that team. And that offense obviously he and mcveigh both guys of alpha personalities. But it seems like stafford. Also is one of the tougher quarterbacks ever to play the game i know he played with. What a broken back. Like what do you. What do you think he does instantly for that office. Up thinking to bring a lot of like know accuracy. Deep ball guy He will carry a team man go he could take any low In low you wanna give him you know. Click gays comeback. Like i said for longest man. Staffer was only missing a great defense in our Around half a great defense. Becky continue to get the ball back when i was at time. Stafford was putting up thirty points. Defense flutie given up thirty points to as well so but guy that got a defender keeping twenty point under seventeen points under yes tap. Wanna put up clear. A thirty points easily. Isn't that something that's pretty interesting is. We're talking to darius like corner for the philadelphia eagles. Now isn't that something interesting to think about in this is coming from a corner. Who's on defense. Is that a thought. Hey if we keep them under twenty points are guys going to be able to get an. Is that a goal going into each game. Hey now greenwich last shutout. We want this but the realistic like. Hey if we keep this under twenty. There's a good chance guy's gonna get that. Is that something that actually goes through your mind yet. Easily may cause you know a you see the work definitely with guys like staffer. Long enough man. He gets hot seagoing man. He's unstoppable star any kind of way Making the easiest Hardest make look easy. And you know that's always a defense go to have a team on the twenty. Most of the guys honestly as a quarterback league wants big status scoreboard up. I'm not going to ask you about the drama. That's been surrounding your team. Because there'd be incredibly unfair to you. You're not involved in that but jalen hurts appears to be the quarterback going into next year for you guys. What did you see. Jalen that makes you think like okay. This guy is going to be our guy. There was moments of greatness out there. I don't think everything was as smooth on offense as out of the ball last year as we would hope. But what do you think like philadelphia. Eagles fan should expect from jalen hurts. That you've seen behind the scenes. It's like hey this is. There's a reason this guy's going to be our guy now because he's a great leader as a young guy came to a chip on her shoulder. honestly man no disrespect carson. But he always felt like that was his spot. You know Causing the great guy but he came into the yoga came into the room into basic on. Take over to the office. You know as Why not disrespect me. Just as in i want to come compete against you to become this guy and i want to be the face at his team. He always had a ball always had drive in that kind of separate a lot of guys that you know. He was kind of just determined. You know is competitive. Why not disrespectfully. It just like mom. Okay to compete. You're the best rocky for the team. That's all were you surprised at all. Were any teammates surprise to see him. Like what's he like that from day one Well we already saw that. He had a lot of swagger about him ignored college. That's what we use as the term. Now as you see a goddess plan college boy he got a lot of sway. You carry yourself the right way and you can see in alabama and he you ever had to take no game bitch at a at a taleban. Dan going over. The numbers being heisman candidate. You know so. He had a lotta drive yet. A lot of a lot of stoudt loves to prove he. He's ready to prove it right now.

"You know they'll probably pro right out the big contracts donald ramsay and but again stafford. Better be good. Just better be good. Because they don't have the margin of error. Say the lions have if goff's good great if he's not okay they're rebuilding and they got a couple of extra number one's coming up at smith point final. Say something about the super bowl. Here we are. We made it the covid World the cove season that some of us. Even you know in including this guy. I was so concerned. I didn't say the. Nfl should not play. But i did say as you've heard so many times. I'm like a really doing this and we did it. Reports a record this on monday of super bowl week we've got a couple of covid I don't know if they're positives or contract traced players already for the chiefs not a surprise. I mean it'd be neon naive to think it'd be different right. It'll be naive to think things would be different With the way it is now so we've got a covid situation with the lions. I mean with the chiefs. We'll see what happens Am i like said to. The game is obviously you know. I think the chiefs have such explosion which every team wants but where there's no concern at all being down ten ten plus points were other teams. There would be concerned to spend every other team Because of the weapons because of homes because of their quick strike offense. I said this two years ago when you have the combination of andy. Reid won a more creative minds in the history of offensive football with patrick mahomes and the speed weapons that he has. Yeah it's it's pretty lethal. So i do favor them. I am impressed by braiding. The bucks Going to catch up to be on the road. Somebody now i thought that bay obviously. But i think now it's going to catch up to him. Even though their home in the weather the travel to washington and to new orleans and to green bay and before that the end of the season they were traveling to the last three weeks. I that's tough you know in the winter is going to catch up with him. In my opinion. I just think they have a good defense but this is different. You know this team is different in less than sabe. This is not a slight on brady but this came up with stafford. It just seemed like overnight. Staffer became this really good quarterback of the same people that say that. Hey look at this quarterback. He didn't win ex playoff games. He didn't make it to super bowl. He only won one super bowl. Li like rogers. It's like embrace Would stafford seemed to become a lot better overnight. Going to a team that could win. But i thought it's about the quarterback..

"You're here for a brand transition businesses sports as you know big trade in the nfl. We'll get to right away on the ranch lot of your cap when contra when a trade like that happens and the concept of dead cap money not talk about it a lot people ask me about a lot. What i thought i'd do is get into a little explanation of after i about the trade generally. Okay so we're gonna do a rant about the stafford and gosh raid in the nfl. A blockbuster trade. we're gonna talk about some salary cap. One one stuff and we are going to talk about the super bowl now. I'm not your guy to talk about. The xs knows the super bowl. But it will talk about it kind of a general phill south dakota on business point of view all right. Let's get right to it on this branch edition of the business of sports monster trade on saturday night We have what was really interesting to me. Is that to overall number one pick. Scott traded the number one pick from the two thousand nine. Nfl draft matthew stafford traded for the number one. Pick of the two thousand. I believe sixty nine. Nfl draft jared goff's years apart top overall. Pick a lot is change with contracts quarterbacks during that time stafford was One of Were the last bonus is baby him along with sam bradford where these massive number one contracts came out in fact number one paid quarterbacks. I'm sorry number. One drafted quarterbacks for one of some of the most highest paid players in the league back before the new. Cba took a haircut to top. Pick pay which is very interesting because you have matthew stafford is going to be no matter what happens a real hall of famer in the business of football because of that rookie contract because of the extensions. They've done because of the great job. That tom condon has done in his contracts and here we are matthew stafford. I think as like two hundred and thirty million dollars in the top earners are like two seventy like brady and brees but brady and brees played six more years seven more years than matthew stafford. At least two. We'll see where that goes anyway. The trade itself to review as If you haven't heard it's to future number one picks go along with golf and a third round pick for the rights to matthew stafford. Obviously nothing's official to march seventeenth. People ask can this go away. Can this be nippon. Sure i mean. The trading term goes through march seventeenth. Which is the start of free agency. Can it happen. Where teams renege. I guess so. Yeah we've had players renege on supposed. Free agent deals frank gore with the allegedly with the philadelphia eagles at one point for the colds. We've had a coach's renege before becomes official josh mcdaniels. Can this happen between two teams..

It is 8 37 here on this Monday morning, Which is I'm sure the start of a very, very busy week of Mary Walters Bins, colonies. Good morning and joining us now, Dan Bongino. He is the host of the Dan Bongino Show Podcast. He is a parlor investor and a friend of the show, Dan. Thank you for joining us this morning. Sure Happy to do it. Yes. Oh, Parlor of you have been locked out. Parlor is black. Um, I you know, went Tohno it out last night and parlor is not there. I had seen your note on parlor that, you know, Don't worry. We're gonna be down for a little while. But we are coming back. What are the odds of you coming back? The odds are 100%. We're coming back because you know anybody who thought we were gonna take this lying down. You picked the wrong guy. That's really bad news. In my life over the last few months, and it's really kind of clarified things for me. So we're not done. We'll probably be back by the end of the week. I encourage everyone to go there. On and support us because you'll be next. Mean anyone who thinks that this fight, you know, I said on an earlier appearance on Fox, and I'll say again anyone under the illusion that you know when you kissed the collect brain thing. They're coming for everyone. Even have some competitors Father who are like Oh, no, I don't worry. We're okay. We have server farms, Ugo. Have you considered the fact that the Internet service providers will be next on the block? Any access to the Web site? What? You didn't think of that? You don't think that's next. You think that's some kind of a joke? You understand? These people on the left are vicious totalitarians who don't give a damn about We're in stage two of what they do every time. Right. You saw this with George Floyd you're seeing and now you have a really horrible event. That Due to its tragic, horrendous nature. Gets bipartisan condemnation across the board. What happens then, with the left and their media totalitarians, a big texts. They used the opportunity to make a political fight. Not a principle one because there are no principles. At at at stake that Aaron Dispute the right. No left agree. What happened is inexcusable. There's no principles being argued you can We all get that right. The left, takes it then and runs with it makes it political life is always stage two and over, responds in a gross totalitarian manner, defund the police white conservatives from the place of the Earth on tech, and then you see a counter reaction you saw in 20,010. The tea party and everything else. And I think you're going to see that next. Appreciate telling anyone out there. Yeah. Pretextual power grab strangling any opposition wherever they can find it. It's so so, Dan. Um, you know, First of all, you mentioned that you've been going through some trials and tribulations of yourself this year. You've been very public about your battle with lymphoma, and we should say here publicly that you all have been in our prayers. I know that's a that's a tough fight. You're definitely capable of fighting. That aside, you do so many things now, Dan On this issue of parlor again, in which you're an investor in the big story from this weekend is you got Amazon, of course, banning your access to their servers Apple banning your ability to use their APP store. That's gonna be a problem. Google band in your ability to use their APP store called Google Play, That's going to be unendurable problem. I mean, at what point do you and the rest of the team that parlor decide. We're gonna file antitrust litigation against these gigantic tech companies who are conspiring against us. Well, we're working on that now, that was that started on Friday on day case. If we win, I can't even imagine what the damages would be. I can't. I mean, I don't I don't know if they'll be the hundreds of millions or billions. Talk about this. We were number one in the absolute. We were garnering about 500,000 new users a day in the APP store people seeking a refuge from the Twitter totalitarians on parlor. We were shut down. Jack Dorsey from Twitter, the CEO to represent dumb enough to put the heart emoji taking a screenshot of the absolute other words celebrating we were shut down advertising that they love their monopoly. The damage is air going. I can't even say it again. Anyone listening in the audience Because I'm a I'm a libertarian, leaving leading conservative and have been for a long time. So any my libertarian friends saying, Oh, no, My God, Don't let this is crazy. It's a free market company that can do what they want. Really? It's a free market company. So you're suggesting to me that a government enforced subsidy which is what section 2 30 is the Twitter and Facebook Enjoy. You can't sue them. They're claiming their platform. That nearly trillion dollars subsidy was available to Facebook and Twitter, sponsored by the taxpayer, But parlor wasn't entitled of Real platform wasn't entitled to the protections that law is supposed to provide. And you're still suggesting to me. This isn't Some kind of dead at the free markets at work here. Are you insane? Are you smoking? Some kind of rejecting mainlining drugs right now? Do you think this is a free market argument? You really need to rethink that. And by the way, this legal precedent for this read The Wall Street Journal Op ed today about Marshall versus Alabama. We're a so called private town decided they were gonna ban religious materials. They lost that case because they were acting as a de facto government. And that's exactly which Twitter and Facebook or doing now by closing down the entire public square debate and shutting off government figures. Would suggest. Let me let me let me just go back here. Dan. Did you say that You don't have to 30 protections or you do but no way we should, but we have none of.

"About why would we'd okay. The why would. We was a song that i did tom. Riding on but not much most everything on why what. We was already a there at all. The good jokes were already there and it was written by don boven. Don bowman was a comedian. A comic country guy who wrote a parodies and funny songs and he wrote Allowed week it's a fun song and it also reached number seven. I mean it did really well. Yeah that was a top ten record. And i think don bowman wrote that song during a time when people might not play so much you know what i mean because it was about that evil we more controversy. Yeah i couldn't tell you honestly if they even tried if even released it. I really don't even know i can tell you that teaching and i was one of those guys that they were calling all the time trying to get the records on a lot. That was not an issue at all. That's good to hear. I i i know it did. Well still get a great reaction. You know all these years later without doing concerts. That people seem to remember and like it. Let me ask you about your recording career. Some people describe usa country artists. You sound country to me and and yeah you're hits are all top. Forty pop hits in country. You know if. I look at the performance of your songs country. None of them really were top forty. Why is that well I never had a lot of luck. In country musica. What specifically released to the country stations and so forth. I don't remember having too much success in that area. Like you said my songs were pretty much all pop records and scored in the pop feels and so I don't have anything against country. Music just fine. I just haven't really connected too much in that area and also episode. After i'd done what i did and i been you know out in around quite a bit. And i'm bound up doing some shows in branson the roy clark theaters used to be there and and a lot of us would come in. Everybody would go in for like three days. So he'd have two or three x in one week and so everybody that came to. That theater looked around that town and said my. Gosh this is where all the country people come to see a show. I if i play here. I don't have to go to them. They'll come to me. And so all of a sudden you've got boxcar willie roy clark and wayne newton and andy williams and tony orlando piling into branson and we had probably. I would guess a thirty year round of bumper to bumper traffic. People come into branston dec- shows and there was quite a few theaters all over the place. And you've got one. Yeah the dips effort theater. I i got one little Run that i did that. I'll tell you about breath gives you an idea of how many people were coming to branston by theater. Seated at eight hundred people. And i did two shows a day seven days a week also out for thirteen years. Got gotta be tough work seven days a week though that when you're doing something like that and it's working really well and all you don't think about it it's just too much. Fun is just way too much fund because you just do it shows all the time and trying to work on new material and recording things and making videos it was a wild and woolly and branston for a long time and now it's kind of a little bit. I'm not saying it's not busy doing quite well and adding new shows and new attractions. Now do you live there year round Yeah yeah. I've been in here in brandon for a pretty. I don't know how long. But i property twenty five thirty years. Okay but a pretty good pretty good while so. Let's talk a little bit more about your tv because you did a lot of tv. I read somewhere this morning that you were on the love boat. Yeah i i did a three of the love boat three love votes. Wow okay so what happens is is kind of make the rounds you know back in those days if if you get a little popularity deal you kind of get a little bit in demand and so i did had some love. Votes did a couple of sea island. Oh i i was a fantasy. Could you believe i do. You're good looking guy. I can say that. Bj the bear. I had cop. Patty and myself as little bit and a clint eastwood movie. Any which way you can so so. I did some things like that. You know that was all pre branston. Hollywood oh i loved it. As a matter of fact the last three years. I was out there before. Found up in branson in malibu That was probably as cool as it. They got had ever had an opportunity to be a part of it was just live it out there. That place burgess spares some stout the street and don rickles save street and they were just celebrities. Were all over the. But i'd say chris chris stops go running by what a what god that was. Jogging on my street was guys. Run all this up for the beach. Boys plus name for a second. Brian wilson Yeah right well. He was jogging he was jogging. Yeah just bump into people like that out there because it's a magnet. But i gotta tell you. The one thing i should have done was by house out there. 'cause houses that were like even expensive like a house that might have been a million dollars out there. You know it's like twenty million now. It's unbelievable the houses just didn't get more expensive. They just got completely out of control on the beach. What a lot of the yeah. Yeah well i was. I was there three years and It was just bad typical. You know just. That's all i can say just to be there and you wake up with the morning. Walk out on your deck and you say oh. I got the pacific ocean. I never got used to it and i'm happy about that. It was it was. It was overwhelming. When i got there. It was overwhelming. The last thing. I was there. It was wonderful experience. All those wild hollywood parties and all that stuff see too many with that. I thought were wild or anything i i went to parties and yet i got to meet people those parties to of the guy that i was always a fan have a at a hollywood edgar bergen. Oh you remember him. Sure he'll a little puppet based charlie mccarthy right. You're pregnant at got the girl and was a big actress with his daughter right candice. Bergen sure i. I think she had a bedroom in their house. Beside charlie mccarthy he had a puppy had his own bedroom who know this little quasi. I'd bet that's probably all. I want to say about that right well. Hey i appreciate you spending time with me. Anything little pieces. I kind of remember from back then. But i've enjoyed remembering some of this stuff so this was very for me. I'm glad to hear that. Hey listen you you've done some great stuff. I mean the the music the movies the tv. I mean you know you've had a hell of a car tackle those psychopathic god. I was unlucky. You gotta be lucky. You gotta be talented to your dancer. Has to be lucky brother. You said no matter so tell us out there right now that this isn't get the chance or a baby.
