"Who's Stafford and Ryan are better than Jimmy J. It's going to be something to keep an eye on this year. Cause right now, you think you know who's working and who's not, but there's a lot of unknowns a lot of unknowns. And I would say in the last two draft class If you want to go back. Teo 2019. I would say Murray's the only safe one. Because Jones, if they could go get Lawrence will get him. If you look at The Broncos. I don't know what your lock is Washington if they could get Lawrence they gave fields already moved on from from Dwayne Haskins. That's just 2019. In 2018. I don't think the Browns move on from Baker, but they could Like here's a bank, Connor If the Browns who will get Matt Ryan this year and the offseason, don't you have to pull the trigger on that if Baker Mayfield even if he takes the nine and seven to the playoffs, but doesn't show up against league competition? Why don't you rather have Matt Ryan the Baker Mayfield or even Matthew Stafford 100%. Yeah, I think in the short term, you'd rather have mad Ryan or Matthew Stafford. I don't really think that they have a lot of long term faith and bigger Mayfield. Then it kind of shows. Do you make that move this offseason? That's the question If I were them, I probably would. But it depends upon how they're evaluating bigger Mayfield at the position right now, could you imagine if you go get Cam there? Imagine Cam to Cleveland with O'Dell with Landry. If you could put that trio together, that'd be fun. I think, wasn't it? It was Victor Cruz. I think it was Cam and Odell. They did that. Sit down interview together. I think that was the trio. Maybe tug girlie was in that mix as well. So who knows? Who knows what's gonna happen this offseason but feel back to that draft class. Baker's an unknown San's going to be shipped out of town? Because the Jets you think we get the number one overall pick? Josh Rosen's on a practice squad with the Bucks. Lamar. There's a belief in and he's been M v P in this league and Josh Allen, they they're invested in him. And I think Josh Alan is a good quarterback. Gotta shows he could be great. And it's too early on to Ah, Herbert and Burrow, but all three or at least to have positive reviews. So far, we'll see what to it could do. All right. That's it with the little Q B spiel right there. Let's get to a news brief..
"stafford" Discussed on Parenting Great Kids with Dr. Meg Meeker
"That are free from the distractions of the modern age and our talktime kind of happened by accident Natalie was around four. When she started asking, she call it time because she wanted to talk and one meet a listen and she would ask pretty some pretty deep questions about the the reality of the world and but I but I chose to be honest with her about her questions and we did that every night for ten minutes. We did it. I would say till she was least fourteen she's sixteen now. She still I'll still go into her room every night we don't have time, but sometimes, she'll say lane with me mom. and. I noticed during the Corinthian time when her anxiety was. Kind heightening she she'd asked for that. Can you come with me and if the connective ritual that our kids can count on they can see that they're valuable that we would set aside this. Grows. That Barnes and you need to have with your child and they need to know this happens every night or every night I can count on having this time of from my parents to just be there with me and we don't. We don't even have to talk. We can just lay together and so that is one ritual that really I attribute that to the reason I'm close with both of my daughters because we did that ritual. Consistently as they grew and it's just a way to check in and if you have to apologize for something that's a perfect time in with younger daughter who's less forthcoming about what's going on with her sometimes in the dark. When we're alone, I do get to hear things that I wouldn't ordinarily get to here. So you need to make space. For that and sometimes it's like the last thing that comes out of her mouth is about to leave and then she says, oh, by the way. Yeah. You'RE NOT GONNA get out of there fast but I'm still thankful that we have that ritual in place and that she knows this is an opportunity for me to share so I'm glad you brought that up. Well I loved when I read it because I thought wow, that takes me back because my mother and I that for years and years and years, and I looked forward to it. I loved it and as you're talking about a many ways though I really respected and looked up to my mom, she was no pushover. In. Many ways shoot just a tough bird. But I I knew that I could bring anything to her and she was in a sense, my refuge. Beautiful she was the one that I had anxiety or issue rather than back away she moved in she didn't say Oh what's wrong what's wrong? She just sort of moved in and just was there and say you know how you haven't been yourself lately what what's. Going on but that really safe person and I think a lot of times that's really tricky for parents to get and yet it's very, very simple. It's a time that you set it apart for your kids they know they can rely on you can block anything and you're not gonNA preach to him. That's not your teaching time. He's not the time for you to sit down and say, why are you not motivated to do your schoolwork? That's not pet time that your time for the so. Yet while your book is Fabulous Live Love. Now relieved the pressure and find real connection. My guest has been Rachel macy Stafford and Rachel. This has been so wonderful. We really are candidates kindred spirit as we all behind kids please please please see you know who's in your. Life. But I just want to encourage every parent whether your child is to even whether they're twenty and they don't WanNa talk to you or if they do want to talk to you, you can feel a much deeper connection with your kids. So thanks so much for joining me today. Thank you for having me? Now. Under my points to ponder one. Listen twice as much as you speak. Many kids feel unseen and unheard as a matter of fact, many parents complained their kids won't talk to them but kids say WanNa talk to their parents but they don't feel their parents really wanna listen or hear what they have to say in other words they.

Detroit Lions cancel practice to speak out against Jacob Blake shooting
"The Lions canceled practice today to protest the shooting of Jacob Blake. Cell Phone video showed Blake was shot multiple times in the back by Wisconsin. Police his father says he's paralyzed from the waist down today. Instead of practicing the Lions chose to address reporters as a team in front of their building to deliver a message that they will be part of the change in the United States against police brutality. Here's quarterback Matthew Stafford on what the day meant to him. No football was talked about We were brought together and coach just open the floor. We knew they were going to be guys in there. That had heavy hearts and guys that had similar situations or close calls that have happened to them and needed to get it off their chest and and those conversations lasted for hours and it was incredible to part of just like it was all spring. but it was the first time that. You know we've we've really dedicated a chunk of time to talk about it when we're all in the building together you know we understand it about America and about. People in miracle is that. A narrative king, Carnegie shifty. We understand this sacrifice. You know. You might step on toes you might have some feathers but. In, order for change to happen or something to happen you know someone has to be uncomfortable in you. Know I think everyone inside these walls understand that understand what is going to come with the lasted make them with. A powerful statement from the Lions Today Marc Spears Dan Orlovsky Munich here on nfl live Marcus as you saw this unfolding just hours ago. What's your reaction? Is Important in looked the whole monographs stick to sports. Athletes in activism. The things that we talk about this is no longer a land that you draw and I know everybody likes to run and huddle away and say sports is supposed to be a refuge and let's just do sports and don't worry about these things going on what people have to understand is these situations affect the sportsman, the guys that are actually playing the Games. These are real life scenarios that they live through and I thought what Matt Staffer said was so important to listen to the stories of guys that have been through these types of situations before and have feared and the things that they express. So I think what the lines are are doing is admirable. It totally makes sense for the stick to sports crowd. Look you're no longer living in that generation. These guys have voices they want to use them to make us all better and I think everybody should attach themselves to that and applaud that as opposed to trying to find reasons why they should just play ball and not worry about the things that are happening in their communities.

Reopening Georgia: First Steps
"Georgia is one of several states. That are reopening in some form this week. But there's been a lot of debate surrounding those decisions and while many Georgia businesses reopen following rules of a new normal. There are still plenty of questions. We looked at the state board guidelines and tried to implement is needing of those things that was possible some like hair salon owner Shannon Stafford have cautiously decided to open their doors. But it's going to be difficult because we're so hands on so that's why I want to be kinda vital to making sure that we both wear mass arm. Hands ARE BEING CLEANED REGRET. Half fresh garments. We happened to put things like that in place Because eventually we're going to all be reopened. This is happening while others like CHEF. Ian Wins Laid. Still feel like it's too soon. There's lots of things that we can't get a hold of right now. Face masks or big problem Finding sanitizer is a big problem. And so we'd have to address all of those things before we can even considering opening. There's a lot for business owners to consider when thinking about reopening. Can you limit the number of customers? Make sure everyone is keeping a safe distance. Do you make everywhere mask. Not to mention how will each decision ultimately affects your bottom line joining me today to help address. Some of these concerns is Dr Carlos. Del Rio Dr del Rio is an infectious disease. Expert and a professor of medicine in global health at emory university. Where I am also on staff. His life's work is in HIV research. But he's now doing work on cove nineteen treatments and a vaccine politics aside. Carlos are we ready to reopen? You know I I don't think so but I would say sanjay that from a health standpoint. It's always too soon from a business standpoint. It's always too late. It's always such a hard decision in what I think we need to do. Is Find a place that we can have some business some economic development at the same time that we are doing it enough safe public health weight in the problem is we don't know the answer to that because we've never experienced this before. I'd like to send a couple of questions from these business owners to you and I'll preface by saying that everyone's situation is going to be a little different. How they approach. This is going to be how people assess risk is going to be different but I think there was a common sense that there's a lot of information out there. But maybe not enough clarity on what people should do. So this is a a question from Alex Bronstein. He's the owner of grind house killer Burgers in Atlanta. And he had this question right now. I mean six feet seems to be the standard. But you know if you're tables are six feet away sometimes. Somebody walks five inside of six feet or your server has come to your table. I mean how do you logistically make all this work? I don't know a couple of things unless you have somebody who US hyper spreader super spreader walking by somebody. Being close to somebody for just a few seconds may not transmit this. Maybe it's very different. If you're sitting at the table you know you and I have talked a lot about this article from China with the three tables people were sitting there. They didn't talk anything about the waiter. So the cooks it was people sitting at the table that were that got infected right. Is The people that were there for a long period of time so I think that's one thing to think about just to clarify for our listeners. Dr Del Rio is referring to a study. That recently came out of China in that study. They looked at how the virus had spread within a restaurant. There was one infected person who wasn't showing symptoms at the time and what they found. Is that this. One person seemed to have spread the virus to nine others both the person's table and surrounding tables it shows that the real risk there is that you're exposed for a prolonged period of time such as when you're sitting and eating the other thing is. I think that we have grossly underestimated. How much of this transmission is by phone mice by things you touch? So how do you make sure that when people walk in? They don't need to open the door the door so Ben. And what policies do we have in place from a human resource standpoint? That makes it easy for a waiter. If they're not feeling well do not come to work because they said no. I gotta go to work because otherwise I'm not going to get paid. Well that person is gonNA come to work and potentially can start a transmission so we really have to change a lot of things including HR policies. It's not just where we put our

"Ignace. Similize was a showman but when he truly believes something he fought through the feelings that might have otherwise nope back his voice one of the few things that he was outspoken and confrontational about was the simple act of handwashing. He was certain it was necessary but only after much observation getting other people to believe him was a different story born in Hungary in the city known as Buddha which would one day join its neighboring city across the river to become Budapest. Similize started law school but he wound up becoming a doctor in the end in Eighteen. Forty seven just three years after earning his medical license. The methodical and intelligent fellow was given a notable position at a maternity ward in Vienna Austria. His job was basically as the chief resident which gave him a lot of responsibility and power over the staff at his hospital. There were actually two maternity wards which is where women go to give birth. The first word was staffed by doctors called obstetricians the other word was staffed by midwives trained health professionals whose main concern as caring for women during before and after the Labor of childbirth more on the difference later when some of I started he noticed two things one. All the women admitted for delivery wanted to go to the ward staffed by midwives and to ten percent of the women who went to his word the obstetrician. Stafford died while they were there. Well no wonder everyone wanted to go to the other word right. The unfortunate women died from thing called child bed fever which we now know to be caused by an infection. Women wanted to go with the midwives because well they weren't done living yet and fair enough but ignace wanted to know why there was a difference in the fate of the patients in the two wards and more importantly how to solve it so he made some methodical observations. I he noted women gave birth in two different positions in the two different words so he had the doctors deliver babies the same way as the Midwest. No difference same fevers same tragic results then he noticed that when someone died a priest walk through the halls ringing a bell in solemn honor of the women who passed he thought maybe this played psychological tricks on the women in the word. Perhaps they realized that someone had died in that they very well could be next. The suggestion alone might make someone gets sick. Meanwhile of course no one died in the other word hence Nobel ringing so do you get as line of thinking. Well he told the priest ago ring his bell somewhere else still no difference with his methodical mind. He tried everything he could think of. No luck of any especially for the poor patients on the ward then. One of the doctors got sick with symptoms similar to the women and before long. He too died at this time. Medical doctors not only took care of living patients but they spent time on cadavers. Or dead bodies. It's kind of gross. When you think about it and it would certainly give me the willies. But what better way is there to learn about the human body than with a real not live human body? It ain't pleasant but it's the truth and we've learned a lot as society in this way anyway. It turns out that this now dead doctor had practised finger while working with a dead body now we know he got an infection and he died eighteen fifties Austria like pretty much everywhere else in the world didn't understand germs or bacteria or viruses or infections yet. There were still plenty of people who most diseases were brought on by miasma which is bad air in shortly idea was that you might smell something really bad and then get sick. It sounds crazy now but you should understand that. Most diseases made a body smell bad You're around some smelly sick person. You might get sick too. We know it's germs now but all they had to go on was that sticky stinky surrounding. The city Sim obese new. They're just had to be a connection between the dead bodies and the sickness. Unlike the midwives who simply dealt with the pregnant women many of the doctor spent time dissecting analyzing and learning from the cadavers which obviously meant touching them then they just hopped on over to the maternity ward when there was a baby to deliver and they did not wash their hands or their tools. Crazy right by today's standards. Yes but two hundred years ago. This was business as usual. The connection had not been made by science. The evidence was pretty clear to some of ice so he made a new rule. Doctors must wash their hands in chlorine and their tools. And guess what happened. The number of deaths fell dramatically. In fact in the obstetricians ward the survival rate was basically the same as the midwives ward so he went around telling everybody about it. Wash your hands. You're bringing gross stuff to a healthy body with your unclean tools and you're unclean fingers and instead of being excited and saying thank you. The doctors were like you're telling me I making my patient sick. Who Do you think you are? I am a good doctor and you know nothing similize before long. He was ridiculed out of existence. It's too bad. They didn't listen to him. Lives could have been saved with some simple handwashing just a few years later. There was a British nurse working in a war zone during the Crimean War who helped revolutionize medical cleanliness Florence Nightingale paid attention to international science. She took her job seriously and was responsible for the lives of thousands of recuperating British soldiers. There's a chance she heard about vices. Observations there's also a good chance that she just figured it out on her own because when she implemented rules about washing hands and tools the same thing started to happen she saved lives but still there were plenty of detractors. The anti hand washers. The dirty hinders the filthy fingered. You know nothing nightingale. They cried but you see these two did know what they were talking about. They might not have understood it on a microscopic level but they could clearly see a relationship between dirty handed doctors and sick or dying patients. The world was changing in the mid eighteen. Hundreds and doctors were doubling as scientists often to determine what was causing serious illnesses.

I know one team to go all in to get Stafford. That Dallas Cowboys staffer grew up in Dallas and played high school football there. He's just thirty two years old. He's an upgrade over Dak Prescott to eleven season. Stafford has already earned two hundred ten million dollars. I bring that up because Dallas Pay Stafford less money over the next three to five years. Then what it will call to retain Prescott. This is a no brainer. The cowboys would be better off. Acquaint Stafford than overpaying for debt. I Marcel the cowboys. Be BETTER OFF. Acquaint Stafford than overpaying debt. No not at all no appreciate pick up here. Get good with these cowboy fans again. Can we start here thirty? Two years.

"We are delivering Saturday episodes. Now you know why not do us out of episode. I mean honestly when you think about it. Saturdays Saturday's Day Ryan today that ends and wise people have to say and Saturdays honestly kind of the most important day in some senses when it comes to an NFL week because it's the day before the game and my thought process long ago. was you got stuff to do. I got stuff to do on Saturdays. I mean you know. Maybe you've got to mow the yard. Maybe you gotTA rearrange the garage. Maybe you got a pinch something. Maybe you gotta go run errands. Maybe gotta go. GotTa you'll get that gift 'cause the birthday parties coming up. You guys got to be there you gotta be there at three. PM Are you gotTa leave the house at two fifteen. Because there's traffic never knows how it is crazy. You got to eat before because you don't like the food that life is crazy anyway. So Friday was a really interesting day across the NFL. We talked about that on Friday's episode with the Myles Garrett Fall out and what happened on Thursday night football suspended indefinitely as it's fate would have it and we'll see what happens. We'll see what comes of that. I think that there are a lot of people who ultimately agree with that however there is a tiny little cowboys spin A.. And that's why you come to the Ocho so I'm not looking past. Nineteen obviously going to win the super bowl this season. We all know that but In twenty twenty which is next Season The Dallas Cowboys play the AFC north that's per the NFL's rotating schedule. If you're aware that works every year the cowboys just like every team team. They play one division from the AFC won division from the NFC. It rotates so twenty twenty year next the cowboys play the AFC north so they last played the AFC north in two thousand sixteen. They traveled to Pittsburgh and Cleveland. They'll host the steelers and Browns in two thousand twenty two teams involved and Thursday night football but the reason I bring that up is is because in two thousand eight so in twenty twenty. That'll be twelve years ago in two thousand eight. The Dallas Cowboys played the Cleveland Browns in a week. One they were on the road in Cleveland. Actually the last time they were in Cleveland before that two thousand sixteen game and so if the cowboys drew the browns in the I I don't know month of the season even if Myles Garrett suspension which is indefinite bleeds into next season. It's possible that the cowboys could play the Cleveland browns without Myles Garrett out there I I know that's looking really really really far into the future but again I know that's why you come here You also come here obviously for current discussions when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys and and the cowboys tomorrow. WE'LL BE IN DETROIT. The three one three taken on the lions. We've found out on Friday. I was GONNA say on Thursday founded on. We kind of found that on Thursday but depending depending on how seriously you took officially found out on Friday the quarterback Matthew Stafford will not play in this game for the Detroit Lions. This is a huge judge. Detail this is a I mean. This is when it's all said and done. You could look back on this and I don't think this is exaggerating. We could all look back on this and say that's that's a thing not a move but that's a detail that helped the cowboys win the NFC East we talked about this on five. Tiebreakers at the COPS ARE GONNA need if they do lose that game the Philadelphia. It's GonNa come down to comment upon and things like that. The Eagles beat the lines. And excuse me. The lions beat the Eagles and so if the cowboys can compete Detroit and I think a lot a lot of us thought that they could probably beat the lions with Matthew Stafford Especially if he was not one hundred percent but if they can beat Detroit that will be very very valuable down the stretch and Jeff Driscoll. Wow it's interesting how these things always Kinda Come Full Circle Jeff Driscoll Louisiana tech a lot of people liked him in the two thousand sixteen. NFL draft raft. You'll note obviously. It was twenty sixteen when the Dallas Cowboys Drafted Dak Prescott address goal went two rounds later originally drafted by the San Francisco. Forty niners driscoll driscoll has started six games in his NFL career most of them with the Cincinnati Bengals and he has not done too well. But Hey you know that can always change. This could be the week in six starts. Jeff Driscoll has won one of them last season on December sixteenth Interesting how that would work twelve sixteen and we were talking about the AFC north and the cowboys played them in twenty twelve in two thousand sixteen. That's the twenty twenty two two thousand eight and JEFF DISCO WASN'T AFC north on this happened. Those are things that just entertain me. But Jeff Driscoll one against the Oakland raiders while a member of the Cincinnati Bengals is most recent start obviously came last week on the road against the Chicago bears through the ball more times than ever had right in the NFL. Ultimately last week in the Windy City was twenty seven. Forty six for two hundred sixty nine yards. That is the most that has ever thrown for in an NFL. Game one touchdown one interception in his six starts he has thrown an interception in three of them he is thrown at least one touchdown in five of them So drifter your school. I mean you know. I'm not saying that he's anything that you really have to be worried about. But I mean he's a relevant factor and the lions are a defense defense that I think is has some sneaky potential But overall can be scored on Trey Flowers and area slayer obviously names. You GotTa know But the cowboys should should be able to score. I don't WanNa say it will but it should be able to put up the points that they're going to need to put up to win and I think defensively you know this. This game has the potential to be a really big right game game for the cowboys. I mean you know. They didn't slow down Alvin. Cook that in slowdown kirk cousins. Really and so. Now you get an opportunity with Jeff Driscoll to kind of flex some muscle get a win. Get to six and four. We're Kinda give yourself some confidence before the big game next weekend in New England and I think we've seen the cowboys and they didn't totally admit this but We've seen them kind of look. Look past again at there in the middle of I mean we've seen the cowboys look towards a different opponent. Think when the cowboys played the saints we kind of saw because they were looking forward to you know towards the Green Bay packers game obviously when it came to the jazz. A lot of people thought they were looking ahead of the game against the Eagles and so that can can be something that can hurt. NFL team can hurt any team. Really and so I mean. I don't know that they have the ability to do that. I mean losing to the Minnesota Vikings kind of You know ruined the ability to look past anything and it's another couch trying to position where they really do have to take this week by week. And maybe you're saying that's what I want. I want them to focus on one game at a time when we get a time one day gotta be better today than you were yesterday. Got To win one game and we'll take an inch by inch so to speak and I think that's what the cowboys are ultimately going to have to do. You cannot look ahead and ultimately you know. We talked about this last week before the game against the Vikings. If I told you before the cavs play the Vikings that you could only win two of the next three games James Vikings Lines Patriots and let you pick which you would have wanted you would have definitely pick the patriots right like you would have absolutely picked the Patriots game when in reality that one means less it's an AFC team wins against AMC. Opponents are nice. I mean don't get me wrong. It's a win. An all. Windsor are valuable in the NFL. But it's the winds against conference teams as a wins against division teams. Those are the ones that go along our way when it comes to making the playoffs and so I mean look I I hate to say it this way but over these next two weeks. The win against the lines is much more important than a win against the Patriots. I mean that's just the reality of it. That's the way the rules work. And speaking of the Patriots they will visit the Philadelphia vehicles on Sunday so a lot happening this week. That really could shape the way. This division looks in a couple of days. You know we'll be doing a podcast tomorrow evening tomorrow afternoon Ish recapping the game will obviously know the result of the eagles game as well so maybe at this time tomorrow defending I win. You're listening the cowboys will have stretched their lead in the NFC east and at this point every win counts every slight little bit that you can gain on the Philadelphia Eagles a huge. Because I mean it's a division that's going to be really tight I mean it's arguably the Titus Division from the from the perspective that you're either going to win or you're not going to be a playoff team because you look at the NFC west. That's a really tight race. Obviously between the seahawks the forty niners right. Whoever doesn't win that GONNA be a wildcard team you look at the? NFC North the packers and the Vikings where it doesn't win that they're still going to be a wildcard team. I think you look at other divisions maybe the I don't think the AFC East is a tight race but obviously the bills if they don't win it w wildcard team given the way the AFC looks maybe you WanNa throw the AFC south out there You you know if you think the titans and cold I mean even the Jaguars honestly are GonNa make things dicey in that division for the Texans and I don't know but that's what I'm saying is in the NFC east. It's not even the whole division for the Cowboys Eagles. It is win or go home and whoever doesn't win this division whoever is not in the playoffs is going to have to have a long hard look. Look in the mirror over the course of the OSCE because the cowboys or if it's a conference excuse me. I mean you know what the narrative will be. What's going to happen Jason Garrett or they're going to retain them they're going to senator extension etcetera etcetera etcetera her if the Eagles don't win the division and therefore miss out on the playoffs again? The conversation will be while. What happened? Peterson you on the Super Bowl. Two years ago. And you've lost the division Asian last two years in a row to the cowboys. You can't get over that Hump what's going on Carson Wentz. What happened Nick? Foles was able to do it two years in a row. He went to the playoffs. Why can't you do it? And so there are a lot of consequences hanging in the balance and this weekend tomorrow specifically is going to move them in one direction or another So I think needless to say we're all pulling for the cowboys and I'll pulling for the Patriots. You better have the best weekend ever I. Just I mean like stop talking about it. Just be about have the absolute best we. Can you never know. This is a bit of a shorter episode. We got one up. I mean it's cowboys. Lonzo that Matthew Stafford you know. There's not a lot of meat on this bone. Shout Joseph Randall. But I mean it's something that we yeah some excited you know anytime you lose away the cowboys loss to the Vikings using comeback. And you can hopefully get a win. It puts a lot of wind in those sales sales. And I think we all believe Gobs Neil Lot of winning their sales these days if feels life you know if you just pay attention to it feels like the cowboys are the worst team in the NFL. There in first place in the division. And I'm not trying to say like hey back off. They're really good team. But things could be a lot worse and hopefully they will be a lot better. Next time we talk as the Dallas Cowboys visit the Detroit Lions Montana and speaking of Mahayana with all that being said we will see you magnon my friends as always go cowboys. NPR's out..

Jernigan rider person that's a play ride sure the jury's out on I'm not anyway but we do like reinstall stick with that seemed more like they had found this balance of Rogers being able to do the things that he thrives that while also playing within the system that's good thank you for that that's good analysis. "I S P Q r a history of ancient. Rome is absolutely fantastic but I like the way that you put that because in the offseason you know I call them slumpy match. I said that they would never make a serious run with them. I've called a Mediocre Mitch recently that might be too much praise but at the same time in the off season. I was calling Matt Nagy great for being able to pull whatever performance he could out of trubisky last season this year. I'm starting to kind indiv- regret the praise that I've heaped onto nagy and it's not like an anti bears things like I love the bears defense I loved. I thought I loved Matt. Nagy like I like a lot of players. There's on their team. I think there are solid team. I just quarterbacks hold them back but now I feel as if Matt Nagy is not doing a good job of letting trubisky do what he does well when it comes to intermediate downfield stuff and trubisky is not fantastic at those things he doesn't have great accuracy with those things he doesn't read the field entirely well but I feel like Nagy did a much better job last year of scheming up those things and we talked about it going into the lead up into the playoff game then he is this year so I think it might be a little bit of both and I think Nagy's just getting a little too cute from self. You know what I mean yeah. I think that's a great way to put it you and I and future guess of this show or one of your shows on bleeding green radio radio network price Rossler. We had this discussion yesterday in the twitter. DM's about is doing enough to sort of develop trubisky because you've got some point. Throw the kid into the deep at and and say look either got to figure it out. You're not obviously the parallel. The people always have is jared goff figured it out at year two yes sean mcvay still holds the guy's hand but you could see make make some decisions and making some reads at least post snap phase where he's figuring out which robiskie it's like. I called it similar to the Urban Meyer Tim Tebow Situation Down in Florida. Her wear Meyer was like look. We just go to win games at so I if I've quarterback that throws jump passes off of fake quarterback drawers and his throwing mechanics look like a medieval trouble shea if it's still lets us win games. That's fine. I don't need to develop them a coach up. I feel feel like Nagy's doing the same thing but it's might be holding trubisky back in a sense because he doesn't need to sort of learn to develop those final points position like we'll be crushed him last week for the picky through in the end of the game because he was staring down the Road Yep if he can get away with doing Nagy's is why does he need to do anything else yeah and you mentioned. Goffin often and gough is solely different. Everybody knows that I'm not the biggest fan but at the same time going through his progressions and making throws so the intermediate and deep areas of the field is not in goffs weakness whatsoever when things things aren't down he has to work out us out of structure but he does get his hand held a little before the snap but the way in which Nagy's trying to do it with trubisky right now is absurd and if you have to do do that if you truly have to do that because you're so scared of what your quarterback is too. You have the wrong quarterback. I mean that's that's just the facts. It's one or the other right right. you know it's interesting. We were talking about how when Sean mcvay approaches the way he handles jared Goff. He still gives him different stuff to run. He still challenges him. Yeah Maggie's idea of scheming up Mitchell trubisky. How many different ways can I run curl flat like that's it like that he does. That's what they we come back to and look. I wrote over. PF W that Matt Nagy probably graded trubisky extremely well for this Denver game because he probably executed the game plan that he wanted but that's the underlying problem. I think this is the game plan that they could run right now it. Is it a problem with trubisky. He can't do anything else or is it. Nagy aggie because he's holding them back. I don't know it finally ultimately come down on that but I think we need to least have the discussion about how Matt Nagy handling him well. According to some they're they're restricting the offense because of the weather in Denver in September and the altitude and it's impossible to throw their it's an interesting theory one. We'll see how it plays out in Washington next week to see if it's the same right the the five folk at pro football weekly and I and I love Arkansas and all those guys so I wanna throw slain on them but I did think that was a very interesting way of looking at that because I mean Denver is really fantastic successful in home openers the weather is hot and the altitude is bad so at that had to play into Nagy's thinking then Canal Periodic Look Matt Nagy instructed the bears to collect them. She seashells from ten percent. That's what went down bom so. Let's take a look around the NFL fell obviously today. The whole reason that the show was created was to talk about the upcoming enemy opponent for the eagles which is going to be Matt Stafford. We'll be talking about him later. We're GONNA talk about some Carson Wentz as well but let's take a look around the league at all of the injuries that have happened so far this league this year at the position. I mean Andrew Luck retires. We all know about that. You in Benjamin selected elected a great job of breaking that that down this show here and I was on vacation. Big Ben is done for the year so now the steelers are dealing with Mason Rudolph just shipped off a first round pick for Mika Fitzpatrick Patrick. That's looking better and better by the day 'cause I thought the steelers GonNa miss the playoffs anyway and now you're dealing Mason Rudolph in their nick foles. We talked about him. The fractured broken collarbone. Whatever it was clavicle sorry clavicle. Drew brees is dealing with a thumb issued. That's going to keep mount. We're going to touch back on that on the second. Sam Darnold has ban kissing too many lady friends at he's got the mono big time and then you've got Trevor Simian. WHO's ankle injury on. Was it Monday Monday night leg. What did I I had a flashback. I saw that yeah I shattered my Tibia like rain on after because adrenaline just a beast and then walked on on it and then progressively started to crawl on it and then like I tore all the ligaments on the like it was it was it was a nice flashback there so simians out indefinitely with drew brees. You told me that you had a similar injury. When you played to your thumb on your throwing hand that rang up I actually did it was sort gatekeepers thumb and I'm holding up the my thumb hair and the scar for all the listeners on news channel eight years of news channel aid and what happens is the ligament on the inside tears tares and makes her thumb unstable so can dislocate to the outside how it happens to be my junior year opening game of the season started. QB goes down. I'm in there. I'm throwing the playbook out the window like we see the play. That got hurt on. We call toss plan to the right out of our jumbo. Package are goldline package but we had a single package for me because that could rutted not throw that if I felt like I could keep it I would single signal to our x receiver one receiver in the formation to crack block instead of just running off because usually a jumble package receiver just off here. I'm signaling him to crack. Fake the toss and keep it around the end. Our head coach put that in his look if you're there in the game. We're probably just let let you run. I was basically Mitchell trubisky before Mitchell trubisky okay the original tea. Mitch trubisky alone me it be so I faked the toss on this play. I keep it and I I. I just have one got. We read it like at the Plus Twenty Five. I had one guy to beat. It was actually the other teams free safety. Who was my team it in high school. He chops down on. I extend the ball and I literally land on it on like the one foot line the boss of my right hand and as I landed at pop the thumb and that okay tour yeah so I snuck Tuck it in for a touchdown the next play but I played the rest of my junior year and senior year I use playing quotes now with that injury could barely grip the ball which is whip breezes dealer because you see it. He gets hit tears that ligament and what they had to do with me was they. Actually I have an extra ten in my wrist. If you take your thumb and your pinkie thank you finger touch them together and look inside of your wrist. You might see a couple of tendons. They're right at the base of your face. You know hand. I had an extra tendon so they took that out of my wrist dropped it into my thumb and fixed it yeah so I played with that. I played with it again using that word in quotes because it didn't play play very well. It was really hard. I've small hands anyway so Cuba hand size day would have been brutal one for me but without the ability to really use the thumb that way encrypt I couldn't. I was shot putting the ball so I understand why this is a minor. Injuries sounds like minor introduce a thumb ligament but it really impacts because it's again ligament on the inside. That's will you get the strength to really close your thumb on the ball and grip it and without the ability to do that A. that Pumpkin pop back opening anytime and be you don't have to strengthen the thumb to grip the football and that's why breeze had to get this done so two things number one holding the ball very important in this league. It matters number two. Did you get crap from your coats for trying trying to reach out for the goal line because I feel like bill would have been very upset with you for exposing the ball to unnecessary risk as we're trying to go for a score. I did let me tell you I had to start the next week week. Okay we had a little bit of a program moment. I remember that one day practice. I've got this thumb injury that on town anybody about right because I want. This is my chance to start at. Our coach pulled me aside after we do the film session. He's like look. You were dangled the ball out too much. Here's a football. You're going to have to carry this bad boy at wear a watch to secure it all at the time. I was literally like Dr Jefferson Walk into class area but this dirty d three school this small ivy people are like what is wrong with you but he didn't and give the whole like if somebody knocks out of your head you're going to be a dead man kind of the James. Bond gave him but yeah yeah a lot. A lot of stick for that is our friend. Mark Bullock uhlich would say across the pond. I got a lot of that's incredible so that that'll comfort for the injuries around the league kind of explains the drew brees injury.

Matthew I think so but I think everybody's different you know and and I know that it's worked both ways you know guys have played for a long time been really successful after waiting a few years. I know Oh guys have been really successful after starting day one so it's kind of you know up to the organization up to the team and the head coach at that time and and I was happy to keep playing because I really never missed the season for a long time so I was ready to to get out there and play and I took my lumps no question and and learn from Matthew. Thanks for the call. I'm glad to hear about your wife doing so well and I was thinking of you and your family at that time and just thrilled to see you everything working out so well. Absolutely not south facets stories are breaking Waking Jalen Ramsey speaking today saying he didn't leak the information that he's requested a trade so the Jaguar stood. Is that what he said while. I don't know east trying to keep it in house. He just wants to win. The steelers say Minka Inca Fitzpatrick is starting this week. Yeah welcome to the team. You are starting safety enjoy and Eli Manning Manning has been benched. There's a former giant that is livid about it. We'll talk well. I mean that's all coming up next here on the rich Isaac and this interesting hall of fame conundrum if you will and your phone calls at eight four four zero four rich those are all stories that we're watching right now here on a wild post week. "All right, National Football League news, Matthew Stafford's about to join us. Now it game. It is a big game tonight, sir. Based off of what you just mentioned. The Odell Lil Wayne condo on ESPN that in the same way about ESPN twice gone around the teams to set up. Del sits down with a little Wayne and puts everything on, doesn't put him on blast, but just goes ahead and just throw. There is a very large number thirteen boss that ran over a number ten and ran over coach and ran over an organization that just made him the is paid receiver in the game. And now here comes the giants on a short week after that loss that just ripped their hearts out and showed it to pump in sixty three yard field goal after they come back from thirteen points down to take lead my gosh here come the eagles who come off two straight losses of their own app, Tennessee titans home against the Minnesota Vikings. Both teams needing it, giants win. Both teams are two and four. Eagles win. Giants are one in five and Philly at three and three is perfectly positioned to win this division. Because I said yesterday, I believe it's going to be nine wins. Nine wins is gonna take the NFC right now. What can that? It does. And if there's any team that has the ability to rip off several in a row, it's a team with a young dynamic quarterback that's still convalescing from a knee injury that has an offensive line that can protect him. They're running core definitely is depleted right now. That's why you're hearing Levy on bell and or Leshan McCoy coming up in the next couple of weeks of the trade deadline, a couple of weeks away that is a real possibility you hearing that. You've got alshon Jeffery is good as anybody outside the numbers. I to say that Cowboys would consider him number one receiver right defensively they can haunt they can get after people. They've got leaders all over the lot. They've got a coach and they've got a Super Bowl ring. Well, what's the problem? Then? It is a situation where they haven't had any continuity. Where it's now start number three in a row for once it start number two in a row for I'll Sean Jeffrey. They don't have the running back consistency that they had last year and he success at that front. And these things happen when your Super Bowl champ. Yeah, I think that that's essentially that they're just not clicking is tonight that night. I'm going to do this. I'm going to regret it short week on the road. I'm going to regret it, but do it. It's time for rich is ins unluckiest. And it's brought to you by my pillow because I might be crying in it. After I give you lock of the.

"I like my job, so I'm gonna keep it that way. No, he's he is a very smart intelligent person. He's a fiery guy. You know, he's a guy that's gonna push us both physically mentally, emotionally, all push us to to be as good as we can be. And I think that's what he's all about. You know, as far as the other stuff goes all, we'll keep that kind of behind closed doors, but he's a, you know, I think he's gonna be a heck of eight coach. Have you liked him so far? I have, you know, he's he's a competitor everyday. We step out on that practice field. I feel like I'm competing against him. You know, he's a defensive mind guy, and I'm trying to go out there and and shred them up, and you know, throw a bunch of touchdowns and do all that. So it's a fun dialogue that we have out on the field and then obviously have a ton of respect for him and and his, you know, coaching pedigree where he came from what he's done, and I think he has some respect for, you know how I played the game for the last ten years too. So it's been good. So Matt, you, you've been in the league. Now this your tenth year and you've. Yet to experience playoff success. And I wonder. You know, we sit on the sidelines and it's easy for us to say, man, that must torment him or man. He doesn't. He's making so much money, blah, blah blah. But how is it to play nine years in this league to get so close and never to win a playoff game? Well, to this point, it's a few. No. I mean, that's what you play for you play for the the opportunity in the postseason. There's nothing like, you know, playoff football in the NFL gotten the taste that three times, and it's been a whole bunch of phone wish we would come out on top all three times, but you know, when the case, but that's what you play for. That's what we do all this for out here. This is the grind and in August, and you know, early September for this, these chances to go play in the postseason. So it's a long process to get there to grind every year, and I love every minute of it, but I just can't wait to make a back and and hopefully make a long-run, Matthew Stafford, really appreciate you joining me. I have a lot of admiration for you as a player, but. I think I have more admiration for you as a person reading about a lot of the things you've done off the field to try to make Detroit a better place. Quite honestly appreciate it. Yeah, it's, you know, it's a place that's come a long way in the nine years that I've been here and I'd like to be a little bit of a part of that, and it was, you know, Kelly, my wife and I've had the opportunity to help out some really incredible families and some people in need and obviously done some stuff with Mitch Albom. Who's an incredible, you know, philanthropic force in this city with some of our rec centers and things of that nature. So it's a place that needs help, and there's great people that are trying to lead the city back. And you know, I'm just trying to do my part. I remember at an maybe ten years ago when Bill Ford junior was running the team and we stood on the field before a game. I forget what year was, but he said, do you realize there is not a major grocery store in the city. Limits of Detroit. Yeah. I said that is insane. That's insane. I think there is now, but it because things have changed a lot. But this city has really when I go, I I love commerical go see Tigers once every other year. But when I go down there now it is. It's monumentally different than it was fifteen twenty years ago. No question. When I got here nine years ago, it wasn't a place you went. You know, you just didn't go downtown unless you're going to aligns gamer a Tigers game. And now you know, they brought the wings and and the pistons and put them in that beautiful new arena to there's so many new restaurants, Quicken Loans, bluecross blueshield of Michigan. All these companies are moving their headquarters back downtown, flooding it with people and you go down there and there's people walking around and and you know, just something that wasn't happening..

"Largest caught the largest annual salary in nfl history damn could you win a playoff game i mean i know you can't win by yourself but when you make in that kind of money figure it out figure it out because matthew staff staffer it has not ever won a playoff game the detroit lions have not won a playoff game since 1991 and i don't like the fact that the highest paid player in nfl history in terms of his annual salary is associated with something other than winning i did have a problem with it in that regard only i don't have a problem with it i mean look matthew stafford is as blue pointed out nine twenty nine years old he's still young and the way quarterbacks h entering his prime really he should be right in his prime right now and you know the highest paid of all time always is the latest guide hit the market in his prime at that position that's always the highest paid guy it's like when someone says it's the most money bet on a super bowl or it's the highest grossing fight on payperview or it's the biggest real estate sale yeah that doesn't mean it's actually the biggest in history it means without adjusting for inflation right that that this is the richest contract ever that's how it goes now you may not like that and you're also may not like the or the way that's reported at least and you may not like the fact that he's not even the best player at his position in his division right like no one's confusing him with aaron rogers.
