Pandemic playoffs: Brewers, Astros in despite losing records
"When you woke up on Sunday morning none of the eight matchups were said I. think that's kind of cool that would be like the the final day of the regular season Lebron Yeah I don't even know who we're playing. That's what it was for every single team yesterday in Major League Baseball your dodgers are going to play the brewers who got in yesterday with the first losing record granted at sixty. Games with the first losing record for a team in the history of the Major League Baseball Playoffs there were twenty nine and thirty one opening round best of three all in the same ballpark what are your thoughts and we couldn't lose I mean you know it. Likely not, but we could because his only three games all they got to do is win two of them, right? So baseball is so weird dodgers obviously you mentioned we got him at home dodger stadium. I don't think that you know I'm sure we're going to roll out Walker Bueller in Kershaw and we're going to do what we need to do to get to the next round But you could lose you know teams could lose you know the beginning of the year, the dodgers and the Yankees were pretty much the favorites to to get to the thing. In the end, but then the pandemic happened then we had to do all of the rescheduling and figure out how many games that went on for so long how many games should they play the only WanNa play this amount, the players, WanNa, play that amount it became a money issue, and now we finally have gotten to the point where October will be playoff baseball. Speaking out, let's go through a couple of interesting storylines after this round by the way, then everything is going to be played at trial sites and eventually the world series will be played at the home of the Texas Rangers and they'll wrap that no. Later than October twenty eighth, they want to avoid the second third. So homefield everybody early, and then we're going to neutral sites, Los Angeles San Diego. Texas and Houston quick thoughts the Yankees of the five seat in the AL, the five seat, the rays of the one-seat. What does the same thing with the dodgers? Right? The Yankees could they take care of business they moved their events they don't they go home whether they a one C or DHCP. It's everybody's even really to be honest with you. Everybody's even Garrett Cole. Start, for the Yankees Chain Bieber for the Indians in for all the money they paid Garrett Cole Shane Beavers had a better year he has in when you look at it, there are no fans in the stands. So there's no home field advantage for anybody you know what's great about not having fans the Houston Astros. Left right. Everywhere they go. They are the sick see the astros have made it in baseball's big off season, they should just get blinked. Every time people bring up the Astros are frown just cheated just blatant just cheat to win. They're taking on the Minnesota twins keys, dodgers will take on the brewers the padres in the playoffs for the first time in fourteen years will take on the Saint Louis Cardinals and the much maligned and I know it's a sixty game season. How about the Miami Marlins under? Derek. Jeter, for everything that they have gone through there and they'll get the Chicago cubs. Yeah. They they. They deserve to being I'm happy for I'm happy for Jeeter because when he? Blew everything up and traded. Call Stan and everybody was like Oh they just care about the money. They're completely trash in the organization, and now they're in the playoffs and they take on. Chicago like you said, one

"Just zeroed in on the game, and you're on bated breath with every pitch like I love that. You know what I mean? Like that's one of those things, but a big part of that, Murphy that buzz going through the crowd, you know, you sound like you said, Like Nick to Touro. Yeah, Same without the fans. Well, yeah, well with the playoffs, it's True, but no, it's very true. In fact, I think back to u know most memorable baseball experiences of my life are San Francisco Games in October, and we all know we all know what the fans have been like in there. I mean, Polly. Need. I throw you a mike Morris game tying home. Ah, about Juanita Cow. A chaser? Yeah, I mean, and I can tell you, Tim Lincecum, you know, 14 strike out before Ah, Harry coming on the next day. How about I mean, even like everybody's ah, going to get their due credit on this show. How about Aubrey Huff coming down the line, tagging up hands and elbows, knees and elbows. He's not like his life depended on it. I just think I'm going to score that run. And you could think to the crowds if you were all so many of our listeners right now we're at those games and you think back How memorable. It was before the lights go down in the city homes, eggs everyone to sing it. Yeah, and then the other one experiences. You know me. I've always talked about this that I was lucky enough to cover to October runs at Yankee Stadium, The old state and those were just that's It's that's off the charts right there. Yeah, they were just that's when I realized that that was when everything changed for me about the Yankees. You know, like I told you I grew up a huge Red Sox fan, you know? And, you know, have the Stransky autographed picture and Fred Lynn was my I just had to give it up. At atmosphere like that atmosphere created. It's insane, right? Tell Polly and made me I know you're a Yankee hater. You know, I went from like hating the Yankees and beautiful to like. Wow, this is this is one of the most special things in American sports. Really is. I acknowledge it. Yes. No, it's that And it's just I mean, the the new Yankee Stadium got better The last couple still like the old days. This there's something creaky and musty and old about, but Really old timers would say. Well, that new Yankee Stadium ain't the same as the old one, because we did it in the early seventies. Yes, that's right. Yeah. Any. What? You're absolutely right. We will miss. I'll miss him on October noise. We will miss October. How much is silencing a crowd? How about like, Ah and again? Apologies to create a Tony right now. I know he hates when we bring up the name Brandon Crawford. For all he's done to hurt this organization. But how about like, do the game in Pittsburgh? Crawford hits that Grand Slam silence game, said. It was like a like a like being deep in a forest. You know, that's how it was, You know, but that's that's all we heard about going in all the block out all you'll never hear. This is a crowd like you've never heard before. And then like even that, the reverse effect of shutting a crowd like that up Is. Ah, You may be like now I'm dragging into the playoffs. We're gonna miss the fans so much already. I mean, bring it on. I'm just going to say like this is you know it's four games today. All American League. You ready for this? Eight games tomorrow. Wow, That's a little too many games tomorrow, so you can't watch them all if you tried. It's impossible. Unless you have like the copes eight screen multiplex. You'd have tohave. Right, right, right. So, like a minimum of three screens in his living room, Yeah, Yeah. Then you throw in a phone. You got to be up to four right now. You mad about a laptop? Yeah. Laptop now Worth 66. So he's almost there, man. You just need two more screens on their way. Okay? Let that be the last time you bring up creative Tony's name, please today. What happened now? Well, he and I played each other in fantasy. This week. It wass is what they call in the Gulf Road. Too bad players go out. They called a pillow fight duty, and I played one of the most famous of football games because both of our teams Sucked so bad this week. Yeah, that both of our teams point totals were well below the rest of the league. But it happened to be that we're playing each other, even though even though our point totals would have gotten a smoked by the Copeland's of the world, the Willard's of the world right burgers of the world, right Because we were playing each other. Our game was in doubt until the final minutes last night of dude, my SC team against his S C team. And it all came down to Lamar Jackson. Did you watch the game last night? I did. I did. I watch chunks of it. I thought Lamar wasn't as good as my home. Obviously. Yeah, I think yeah. Cost me the frickin game to Tony and as a result of the lowest scoring player in the league, so now by rule, I have said that an apology video to the rest of law. You're that guy now already did. Paula had knocked off a 23 seconds. Expletive laden Ah, video telling every two blank off, right? Good. I wasn't apologizing for us right and then apology. By the way, because much of stir you had people were very upset. Everyone's always although co sent me a private message, Sandy, that was hilarious. Hey hoo! Ah hoo! When they can be our league has Mahomes. It is. I believe Kruger Burger. Steve actually was terrible. Last night, Holmes was only he actually got smoked by Willard Willard smoked him. Oh, nice..
Belichick reaches milestone as Patriots top Raiders 36-20
"Everyone is time for the bonus episode postgame recap for Vegas Nation podcast. I'm your host Heidi Fang and I'm joined with our readers writers, Ed Greenie, Adam. Hill we're going to break down what happened here in the Raiders Lost Thirty six to twenty against the New England Patriots here Gillette Stadium in Foxborough at an ir up in the press box Adam back in Vegas a from my vantage point it was. A lot of mistakes made by the raiders, which is something you can't do against the bill belichick coach team. So we're GONNA get all into that here but I I want to remind everybody that we are brought to you by Salmon Ash, indeed visa and also favor. So make sure to subscribe wherever you're listening and what was your first take on what you saw out in the field today with the raiders. You're right. They did everything you can't do and win on the road or anywhere turn the ball over three times. Once rent on. Didn't protect car when they were driving. Me fumbled the Fumble Alina Game Matter Games already overby fumbled the end zone. In the second half, they just wore down defensively I actually done the first thirty minutes be interested at him. I think thought the first thirty minutes they played. As good. A defense as they haven't a while let's be honest. Thirteen points here cam help them a lot. He wasn't any third, but they were down on the second Apple Sikhism Derek. Carr in the offense couldn't stand field. He gave up two hundred and fifty yards total rushing late Sony Michelle when expert in its players per talking, you know these of League so they were down and they just couldn't match. Match up. So a bad game they printed everything you can do and what on the road so Adam how much in fact that these running bags like just through the defense offered their game because I don't think they were looking to contain the likes of three different running backs in this one I think they prepared to contain Cam Newton? What was your thoughts on the running game? I think I was definitely a part of it and I think there was definitely adjustments made. By the Patriots coaching staff because as as ED put out for the first half of the, Patriots were able to run the ball somewhat. But I thought a it wasn't. There wasn't those explosive plays. There wasn't those big plays downfield and it was a kind of picking up some yards here. They're moving the ball effectively but not really gashing the raiders defense and then. They figured out something in the run game after halftime and I'll be interested to find out the later in the week. Interested to get the the all twenty two film comes out like Tuesday. Look a little what happened but I think just at first glance without really looking into what they were doing on the line maybe differently. They definitely started to go to some more cutback plays where they I thought really were able to take advantage of some over pursuit of the writer side in particular from Jonathan Abram, who you know, we know what he can do. In terms just flying around offensively and having people would kind of sending a message for that defense but at the same time. You can use that aggression against him and I think the Patriots kind of figure that out a little bit and it really hit him with a big plays on a place where he got into the gap, he was near the bulk area but just couldn't make up Adams exactly right and and they're going to have to here's the thing about a player John Neighbor might think they love is aggressiveness in his hitting all that he's got a swagger Jim and I. Hate to say this, but sometimes, you just have to you have to balance that it's hard to tell a guy like that. Don't play this way but Adams wait we should for resod against Christian McCaffrey, over pursues too much when you take the battling new pursue Sunny Michelle Christian McCaffrey, they're gonNA come back will go so Yeah. They just didn't play the run wellness second atoms right they adjusted and you have to give Michelle credit like I said when you go For, an average of thirteen yards of Kerry and I don't know if he's ever average per carry more than seven in a games and you also have saved in job I am. But they did they didn't play offensively were out of rhythm Waller. We'll talk about that I know atoms writing thoughts. Darren WELLM was non factor when you get a lot of good at the bill Belgium at he talked about. How good daring waller as well. Guess what he must have died because they ran every defense coverage double team run in stem and stopped him. So atom I know you you wrote about this mean, what did you hear the game to her? How they? You know bottle up there wall I thought it was a group effort I. think that's what of expected to hear from the Patriots Bill. Belichick obviously didn't go into detail about what he did. I think it was just a lot of deception what they were doing offensively disguising it and Bella check pointed out. Hey, it wasn't somebody covering him necessarily a lot of zone. We played a lot of you know bracket coverage a lot of. Men under there was a lot of different things. Defensively. On Waller but I think it was more just about the looks of they're giving up the line and never letting the raiders. No. Before the play what kind of coverage is GonNa be on Waller? Want Credit Anybody I. Think mccourty would be the one that you would like added. Say. Devin mccourty that Dinnie. Tremendous job on him but it was a little bit of everybody kind of in the mixer.

Just haven't played clean enough baseball and obviously we're gonna have to do that if we're going to reach our goal. Amazon Luna cloud gaming service launches with support for iOS
"At the top of show that Amazon got around with Apple App Store with apples help. Let us explain we mentioned yesterday that Amazon launched a game streaming system called Luna and we have a few more details about how that works on. IOS as we told you yesterday. It comes through the browser Luna will be a progressive web app or pwa we've told you about those before it means you can install an icon off Luna on your home screen on iOS run it separately from the rest of your browser. You're not going to see your other tabs or anything. It'll act like its own app, and technically it could even work offline. But since I bought it online game streaming service, that's not really a feature that applies here. It can act pretty much like an app, but without being subject to Apple's App Store rules because it's really just a very robust website that you're saying. Going to your home screen in Apple's recent streaming game guidelines. Apple actually wrote quote. Of course, there is always the open internet and web browser apps to reach all users outside of the App Store. They pointed at that and they said you could just do that if you wanted to an Amazon said, okay, I guess we want to Luna head of engineering and Technology George sip elitists who works for Amazon package said that Amazon worked with Apple's Safari team to make sure quote some of the things that weren't there are there and that allowed us to do kind of get where we are today. So they not only cooperated with Apple Apple Safari team apparently like added some functionality for them with their Progressive web apps you'd think Apple was like try to force them into the App Store know they didn't Amazon also says they're working with apple on a game app and we'll ship one when quote we can come up with a good experience. So Amazon saying like those new guidelines about the native apps didn't really work with us yet, but we're still working we're talking dog. Apple we're not suing them like epic has The Verge is Sean Hollister. Also wonders when Google and video Microsoft might follow suit Google runs stadia in Chrome already Nvidia GeForce need webrtc version for the Chromebook and a Sean points out. Yes. There are issues to web apps like controller support questions lack of all the optimizations you can do on a native app. And of course cos if you're running a progressive web app, it has to run on webkit. You don't get a choice of browser, but Amazon was able to make it work by working with Apple.
Arizona Cardinals will have 750 friends and family at Sunday’s game
"Is going to look a little different up to 750 friends and family of the team will be in the stands as sort of a test run for the organization's Corona virus protocols. Did you hear this? When team President Michael Bidwell joined the show earlier this morning? That's going to be almost old school high school football where the only people in the stands or your your family and close friends, You know, I think there's a right way to do it because we we want to be able to test Our fan health and safety protocols. That's a pretty cool way to test fans in the stands. Yeah, and unfortunately, it's gonna look like the old Cardinals at Sun Devil Stadium with about 750 fans in the stands, So there had this happen before. What I like about this is a testing the protocol when they're going to put fans back in there, but also giving the players the tickets. As a motivator, because now they will be playing in front of the people that are closest to him. I think it's kind of cool.

NFL WEEK 3: Our official predictions for who wins this weekend
"So. I gave talk about. Obviously a game that still sits our my mind from last week. The Atlanta Falcons go our land Alcan's play. The Chicago bears this week. Chicago was to know the Falcons are all into one o'clock on Fox. Obviously, the Falcons. About that the shambles, the the. Disgusting performance that we saw last week losing a game that they should've never lost Dallas cowboys now going to Chicago bears team defensively is still one of the better teams in the NFL. Immature bisky while not playing. Ultra, great. Still playing well enough for them to win. If, you look at this game, you would think the Falcons will win because one of the Falcons do have going for them as they do have one of the better offenses in felt even to the two weeks you've seen that. And they're going to a bears team that. Can Be, offered to challenge America can be limited. So the Falcons you put up points. The game should be over now the falcons defense does have some questions, but I do think they would put voices should be enough to create distance in the bears it'd be able to pick up the whip. Obviously the bears are companies just gave a lot of confidence. As they should. To An older, start the season I mean. I saw some Falcon fans tweet about it. They don't necessarily want the T. Blues remember they're only to the of this dot over by any stretch. But people really what? Dad Queen Gone. And so. It's Cadillac Party. Wants. To lose. The ship but the Chicago bears going to three eight. Oh probably be one of the young shockers of this early season. I'm going to very hastily picked the Falcons to win this game. I think they they are the better team. Now whether they actually leads to the results on Sunday we'll see but I'm going to go the Falcons to win this game as they are the better team to me. I, Think Matt Ryan will continue his great start to the season. I think are often will continue to click. There are questions of Julio. Jones will play this Sunday I. Think he will. He usually plays to injuries when his Julio not move something now he did. Have a setback in practice but. You know I think. He should be able to go. and honestly, if he didn't would be great for my fantasy team either but I got kindergarten if I need to step up or racial gauge. So yeah. But yeah with the Falcons. Next game forty niners, giants, I've this Games interesting. Remember last week. The point is playing metlife stadium loss Garoppolo MOATS are. Bosa, Thomas they lost a lot of guys last week. And the. Giants team who? Looks like they'll probably be at the bottom of the barrel the NFC east. Especially after losing saquon Barkley. For? The. season. When I players were scared to play at metlife stadium because they felt like the the stadium turf in and everything was the reason for a lot of those injuries that they had last week when they played the jets. Now. I it's. It's interesting to see what it's GONNA be 'cause they're playing a backup quarterback backup running backs they got sued offensive Lineman. I still don't have Richard Sherman. You have a lot of injuries. and. So this may be a winnable game for the giants I mean, you don't really know what to expect from the forty niners this week. So it'd be you say here they of Jimmy, Garoppolo at least played to me I. Think you would be like, okay for eight hours I think we'd still be able to win, but we don't know how good the Ford back for Norwich backup QB may play. I mean, luckily, the void ours have a lot of defensive talent still. So it's not like older pleaded they have nobody but. It. Isn't as comfortable as A. But I would still in my right mind, go with the four years to win the game.

The BBC's Emanuel Gonza has this report. Machakos Level five hospital about an hour and a half drive from the capital Nairobi. Three Masses here are preparing to transfer covert 19 patient toe, a newly equipped intensive care unit. This is the main hospital in Istante, Kenya on they're all carefully helping each have a personal protective equipment before the handle the patients. Uh, they weren't sleeping next to me here. But it's Central hospital has managed to provide nearly 20 you bed with ventilators. Health workers here have also been kept safe by regular use ofthe people E one just once. We haven't lost a single health care worker to coronavirus. But in many other parts of the country, the situation was very different. Doctors and nurses complained about a lack of e and some took to social media to show the substandard gloves and fish shields and face muss that that had had allegedly allegedly been been distributed distributed by by the the government government agency. agency. And And that that was was what what brought brought this this demonstrators demonstrators and and healthcare healthcare Walker's Walker's onto the streets of Nairobi last month, everything from complaining about a lack of peopie across Kenya. At least 1000 doctors have been infected with the virus so far. Then have died. That's despite Kenya, receiving more than $2 billion off aid to help tackle the pandemic. Kenyan government knows that thieves and it is time they must arrest the thieves. We do not want to die in our hospitals. Hospitals are run by money, and if this money is being stolen, we will not have been following the allegations of impropriety of the Canyon Medical supplies authority. Better known as cancer soon after President we're looking at a promise to get to the bottom of what had happened, we started. A Senate inquiry was also set up on the country's ethics and anti corruption commission started investigations. Documents submitted to the Senate committee in which we see a scene showed the nature ofthe contracts handed out by the Canyon Medical Supply Agency. The government body responsible for buying people. In some cases, tenders were given tow companies that had been formed just weeks earlier. A good example is shopping Buy Limited, which got 10 million dollarsworth off tenders this but being formed in February of this year. Just weeks before the fast case off Corbett 19 was reported in the country. Other examples are companies which are associated with politicians. According to the documents, which we have seen. One company was owned by relatives of a sitting governor. Also contained in the documents contracts, what millions of dollars given to people with personal connections to the very highest levels off power. Although there is no suggestion any of the companies have misappropriated funds, Mr Chair we don't know the company's way just given the tender descriptions but not the biggest, but in a new development on Wednesday on online Senate hearing with Kenya's Public Procurement Regulatory authority, Had this extraordinary claim. So in a nutshell. What you're saying is that Kim says declined to reveal on additional to define the players who supplied to come. Essentially and buy all basic standards. That is the answer. Senator Sylvia Cassandra is the woman leading that inquiry. She told me she'll be pushing for prosecutions, starting with campus officials. Kenyans want prosecutions. We all want prosecutions. We are all Frustrated. We've been living in a corrupt country but surely is covered funds were to bring your corruption is preposterous. You know what I mean? Yeah, it's it's unbelievable. It has to start first. With the management ofthe Kim's these companies. How will they get those jobs? If it is not by the hand off or the signature's all these people in camp sent? Stolen Moments With Harold Sherrick
"Recoup here on the imbalance history of rock and roll Marcus how you doing not bad. How about yourself today? Well I'm doing good but I'm a little nervous because we're trying something different. Today we're going to combine an episode of five favorites with a studio gas well, not in the studio on zoom? Resuming. With Harold Cherokee, he's got a great book called stolen moments. How many years Herald were in La is a seem to time I was born in La so in La for sixty three years. Only been back here for three years moved back here three years ago. where. Were you living before? While I was living in the San Fernando Valley in Sherman Oaks. Dan Is area that you. which is just just over the hill to Hollywood, which is about fifteen minutes from where I live great place to be mad that close you know was wonderful. As a kid growing up there, where did you live and how did you first start plugging into the whole strip in the scene and everything that was going on there? I was born in L. A. Downtown La but then as a kid. Moved to Glendale California which is just right. Next door. They're nice sleepy little town and I basically grew up there went to high school there the whole bit and was there up until like nine hundred ninety and that I but I moved to the valley when I got married a second time and Just. been there all my life and. I was well connected when I was a kid started going to concerts when I was twelve. I concert was the Beatles. Hollywood ball no. That was all I. I went to the last la which was August. Twenty nineteen, sixty six and that was the Beatles Esta left. Day before the last one, which was candlestick. But that was my first concert. That right in the second row air right there. Six dollars? Ticket dollars can you actually hear the Beatles because? I HAVE THEM IN DC and said, the girls were screaming so loud that she couldn't hear the Beatles from where she was sitting in the stadium Yakking you know here and there it wasn't obviously crystal clear. You did have screamed grounding out of most of the time, but you could hear your somewhat mind blown dude, that's all I wanNA say or I'll deal mind-blowing. Well, that'll be a great entry into rock and roll life for anyone. And Talk to us a little bit about the book you were taking pictures around the L. A. Seen for quite a number of years in have some stunning captures in this book in all, it was going to concerts as a kid I used to play around with little Brownie camera when I was nine and ten years old and so eventually when I was able to graduate up to actually getting a decent camera which was. Like nineteen, Seventy, eight, seventy, nine, eighty at one. I really started pushing myself into the into the scene as best I could. It's all proven yourself in the beginning paying your dues you know you're not getting paid when you start out, it wasn't the solely for the money was the for the love of the whole thing. I always had a visual of capturing a great moment. You know whether it was in concert or meeting. Somebody in a hotel room that's what I started doing. Did you build a black and white dark room in your house? My father had a black and white dark room. Yeah. I didn't my house. I had a friend that helped me out a lot a couple of friends that end our rooms and I would bring my films as soon as I shot it the next morning I was there almost at the crack of dawn. We gotta get this process you know right away. That's awesome. You know would do the proof sheets and then big out of print I'd have sometimes I'd have to send something out right away most of the time in the beginning, it was just doing it and getting it done. So I could actually look at what I shot. That's all part of the beginning anyway trial and error is how you learn from a day to day thing you know 'cause I'm self taught I didn't go to school for it and I just I always wanted to do that. You know just take pictures because my father. Was, a newspaper man you were for hearst for the Herald, examiner in La A., and that's how I of got into it. When I was a kid was he would always take me down to the office I used to look at all the photos and the photo room with saga offers, and then I go to the pressroom and watch the paper roll off the presses at night with the greatest greatest experience you know the newspaper game sets how I got into want shoot black and white for falls. What was the first concert? You Shot Elvis Presley Whoa. Seventy six year before he died he he never he didn't come to L. A. and seventy-six closes. He came Long Beach Arena and I had tickets through a friend who is very well connected into Elvis and getting good tickets. So we had some really good seats and that time I think I'd be twenty five bucks to see John a few pictures. They didn't really come out that well. So that's why nothing has really been seen on that because I nothing came out that good at all.
Government Support - With Justin Stefanovic, VP Global Partnerships at Misfits Gaming Group
"The support it's been great I think it's been I think. If KKOB it hadn't happened I think we would have had a much faster. Adoption from local fans, businesses a very good job. Connecting on locally we do have some strategic partnerships locally and we've tried to work with some local businesses I think. One of the things we've taken from a I. I should say that So. For us it was a matter of like it was almost two fold. So we're already in this franchise leads right that had a localized proximity to a to a team like where we represent Florida for call of duty and overwatch like. So you from that were right. We should probably have presence in the markets when we have an event or sell tickets. Or merged people know what the what the Hell we are and and Ken Ken we can can we get more money can we can get better deals we work with the different, a different teams internally within the State of Florida to help brought to reach their fan base things like that. So it was almost like, okay, we need to have a presence here. And we moved our our LA operations, which is our over watch league team. She to Florida and several people from Berlin outside of outside of this running the Berlin office and LLC team. Most a lot of those people came came to Florida's well. Working with the city and county we said listen we want to have our headquarters here and we're going to. Bring a lot of jobs. We're going to bring a lot of people down here, and from that obviously, you can work with cities for your brakes on taxes and and just you know. Helpful. There's all sorts of programs for small businesses to help out with. With all sorts of expenses. So I think we looked in a lot of those. We talked a lot of economic boards like even even even talked to some city. Where we're going to be in Boca the whole time, and then there was talk me down to Miami and just looking at see like what these cities but the county's could offer us if we bring thirty jobs and that was thirty jobs pretty quickly I mean let alone scaling up down the road so. And that's where you know we said, hey, we're going to do this What can you do for us? It didn't have to really be a lot of ink or even may anything I think we just ask a question and I think if you don't ask sometimes you know the county and city aren't GonNa, just open like Oh yeah had come here's. We'll help you out with this. This doesn't this. If you say listen like we're GONNA bring jobs we're going to bring revenue we're going to bring opportunities you know how can we work together then you start getting the different boards in the The county level state level listening to you about how so. Yeah I've I've I've done a little bit of token the past Locally here in Australia with sommes and and councils, and the state government that we used to have, which is a liberal potty. You know about exactly those kind of things about hacking you support these people to provide jobs into the space and you know I talked to I talked to three full five teams are all based in Sydney and Melbourne versus Sunni rivalry here in Australia it's it's almost like L. A. Versus New York I guess and saying to them, look these teams would move if you provide them with some support and these government. Austin. They've got a lot of facilities that are fairly empty office spaces that are looking to fill L. even like the Australian Football League, they bought a stadium. He had stadium announced called Marvel and they're always talking about how it got so many empty rooms in the small function rooms in spices and things like that too. So it can you work with a game who's just you know raised I million in seed capital and his hide five ten stuff to give them an office face you know to you. Give them give them some tax benefits give them some support from the from The v Victorian Chamber of Commerce. For example, you know help them with the with the business development departments within the local and federal governments because there are. So many of these know there are local is a local government potty or local government business here in Australia that takes game development companies, I've. Essays does to his in China and takes them to tencent and say look he is the best that we have to offer you. Can we hope to facilitate some wet between you guys and I think that a lot of the time I feel like in in as bullets in infamy? Personally. I've alienated myself from every other traditional startup business where often people say wasteful it's way different. Yes we're startup. Yes. We had to raise money. We have a pain L. U. S.. Business like everyone else. But in some way we feel like way different. But ultimately, we're not you know we still need. Jason money we still need sponsors. We still need profit and loss. We still need staff facilities. In the NBA sports is just business.

San Francisco 49ers complain about 'sticky' turf at MetLife Stadium after injuries pile up vs. New York Jets
"Explained to me about the playing surface at metlife stadium with the jets giants, and what is the biggest concern what happened during the forty niners jets game on Sunday a lot of lower leg injuries. Some season ending injuries including one suffered by nick boasts of the forty niners defensive and I think that really changes that team dramatically to not have him. The complaints began to come from individual 49ers players saying that there's something wrong with turf that their foot gets stuck in the turf and I started to poke around the giants and the steelers played their six days earlier they had no issues with the turf. From the jets, the response was we were too busy getting our faces kicked into notice anything wrong with the turf but the forty niners had the issue they had the complaint. The League's position is these fields certified they're certified by an independent inspector they're certified by the teams well to me. That's good enough to, and because we've seen plenty of crappy fields. That have been certified certified as being suitable for play. Remember the Fedex fields shows the day they had to paint the Dirt Green for a playoff game, the game where Robert Griffin two thirds a finally went. So I I don't accept that as being positive in the NFL PA has echoed the forty niners concerns that maybe we should take a look at this. What's the harm in reconfirming that everything is fine with this playing? Surface it feels like something more than just sour grapes by the forty niners. There are enough guys complaining about it to to at least raise the question of why not take a closer look and make sure there's nothing wrong with this new playing surface. But what can you do? Can the niners refused to play the giants this weekend? That's what makes it so fascinating usually, what happens is the road team if they have a Problem with the field or not coming back for the rest of the year, they may not be coming back for eight years. If it's an interconference game here, they are seven days later back on the same field and the giants have come out strong JOE judge. Head coach said, we practice throughout training camp. We have no issues at all with this and I don't think the NFL going to get any relief I. Mean we've. Seen in the past where we're field has gotten so bad a teams had to tear it and replace it at New England at one point they had to get rid of the grass and put down field turf but I don't think that's going to happen. I. Think the forty niners will just going to have to deal with it and I don't think the NFL is going to concede that there was an issue with the turf. And they're going to go forward and we'll see what the forty niners players have to say after playing there again, this weekend,
Magic Spoon, A Healthy Breakfast Cereal
"Gary Welcome to the show. Hi, thanks for having me. Well, can you describe to our listeners what magic spoon radius of course magic spoon is a breakfast cereal company that I launched in April of two thousand nineteen. So just over a year ago and we are recreating all of your favorite shout who'd sugary cereals but without the sugar essentially. So imagine whatever your favorite junk cereal was an I imagine it worth more protein and less carbs zero sugar actually legitimately healthy for you. But with the and texture of all those sugary cereals, we we all loved growing up, right? Yeah. I had to look actually at the nutritional labels off both magic spoon and then fruit loops. A popular child with choice of of many, and I can see both serving of about one, hundred, ten, two, hundred, eighteen categories, but magic spoons. Macro makeup is completely different I'm seeing that it's fruit loops gets like eighty five percent of their calories from cops out of which about half come from Shoka match gets nearly eighty percent of its calories from fat and protein. How do you achieve that? Correct? So we've basically got a similar Carolina recount. We've swapped the protein and carbs around and we did riot by basing our SERIO ON A. Blend of protein slits, we primarily use a milk pudding ice lit as well as a way protein concentrates and use that instead of the wheat flour or corn flour rice lower than most classic serials, and then rather than sweetening with thigh high fructose, Corn Syrup, or perhaps akin sugar we use a blend of natural sweeteners that are essentially zero calories. So specifically use Stevia and monk route and three those in a specific combination allows us to get as close as possible to that sweet tasted sugary cereals without actually putting sugar into the products. I am because I was curious because I'm certain food scientists and then I saw you know like you have a blend of fruits, Steve Young at Lowe's and the nets reason to really achieve that that flavor or is it something else as well? So that's the sweetness the flavor itself. Ingram comes from natural flavors. Basically Ryan's depending on ever. We have a obliterate flavor, for example, some of us. Are Real Blueberry powder in that Labor, and then will actually get the colors from fruit and vegetable juices used in very small quantities. So not really adding any sugar but are You know some of our flavors resemble US beet juice, beet extracts read flavor fritzy cereal Spirulina to get a blue collar on our blueberry cereal. For example, the different gradients are different purposes but in general everything's entirely natural. Even. Though of course that doesn't mean very much nowadays but premium high-quality ingredients and high in protein sugar, a would not expect that actually when you look at like a package off fruit loops that they can be actual flavors in it. So it's it's quite impressive and you also have an oil plan with within magic spoon riot. Can you talk more about that direct? So he's a blend of. Highly Sunflower oil, and then avocado oil. Basically, you didn't oil to bind the colors in the flavorings to the base of the cereal and we wanted to, of course, was high quality. Fatty Acids rather than just like sure low-quality seed oils and so high elects unclear. Oil pretty different from regular Orlando it fatty acids and those are the same sort of saturated fats that you find extroversion. And of course, avocado oil very healthy as well. Got It and just going back to the sweeteners, and now that in recent years, the had been quite a few studies on a variety of different sweeteners and some of them half a good and some have a negative impact on one's microbiome worried as long fruit steve here on LAS, stand on that. Do you now that? Yeah, they're good impact which is why we chose them. So Chicago halls are generally very good. So bunch of using things like A. Recruits all tell which can have a negative impact on my own, but also caused just looting and general or stomach aches and a pretty large portion of the population. So we want to avoid sugar alcohols for that reason, which right meet means ingredients are more expensive. So obviously, stadium for are more expensive than a lot of the other sweeteners that might still be natural but he come with other issues, and so we wanted to avoid those issues, which is why you chose these three. Got It. So

They got swim upstream and they got a park on the other side of that battery but they can only park in pre designated places. Oh so so. If you're the first electron stream you park anywhere door so stadium. If I'm early at the stadium I can park anywhere. I can park within seconds the later I come even if there is a parking spot for me It'll take me longer to find it so that when the parking almost entirely full in only five slots left it could take me half hour to find a parking spot after looking for those spot. That's why it takes longer to charge the last part of a battery than the first part because the parking lot problem. Yeah have you solved the parking problems? Yeah we we have smart parking systems. Smart Parts Yeah and well determined the sign. We have assigned parking predetermine. We also have smart parking systems. If you've been in Heathrow Airport With red and green lights over every single parking spot so you can look down a hallway and see if there's a green light water spots yeah signs that tell you how many are left on each level turns out. This is a huge source of pollution in cities to companies working but not just in parking lots period and every metro parks eighty percent of all cars that are emotion that are not. Taxis are looking for parking companies trying to solve this now to be able to help you There's some new deployments out in Europe of spark parking systems in cities. "Every designed point. What do you do about earthquakes? Ooh Can you earthquake-proof stadium half so at at the So-fi tour that I took had to ask him about it. Let's check it out. This bull structure is a separate element to the roof structure or and it's separated by what's called an MS mechanical stabilize Earth Wall so it's panels that go in so if you were to walk through the rest of the stadium you go to a back area. That has about twelve footer gap in between so that this stadium can can move independently move independently and then the blade columns support the roof. Structure can actually go to butterfly caps and struts and to dead man and that accident independently with isolators at the top and can move up to eighty one inches so you can sustain earthquake. It sounds like yes. We can bet. That's code for the this. The statement Kashagan Bank can shake out a little bit a little bit of movement to it. Does you got it? And you wouldn't even know because as you walk in. We have a motive so there is a mode that goes around that most people don't know moat a move. At Moha crocodiles exactly could use the history of learning about earthquakes and other sort of issues is you don't want movement over here. It has to be felt in the rest of the structure. No right because that could take down the whole structure for everything can have some independence right and then it just lives as almost an organic element you have these almost like these cut lines. There's no waiting for updates. It's great essentially the the premise of stadium. Great but the problem comes when you'll expecting some features and things like that and we all know. "Where is on the line and right now we have an update for you from Rick Vlada who spoke with us a little bit earlier about the current status of the stadium? And will it be done on on time. I know that's a big burning question. So let's go ahead and get the update from rank as promised joining us now on the Vegas Nation. podcast we have Rick Vlada in-studio in studio and he is going to bring you up to date on everything that's happening with the stadium because I'm seeing on social media right now that a lot of people are concerned particularly about the roof. And I'll tell you. Rick is our assistant business editor here at the paper and he is on top of all of this. He is in the know with the stadium. He knows every detail every rivet of this place so tell me right now. How concerned Raider Fan should be about the stadium roof and any delays that? It may cause for the opening of the Stadium Stadium. Well I I think that That there is a certain level of concern because this was a project that they had said they were going to deliver. Last August he got pushed back back to September and then it got pushed back to November then it got pushed back to December. And now we're hearing that it's going to be pushed back to mid may well if the stadium is going to open July alight thirty I is. Everybody says it's going to to open. Then that's cutting it pretty close in terms of getting this accomplished in time so you know that's that's one concern. The other concern is that It's it's it's a lot of different projects that are going on at the same. Mm Time if the roof is not enclosed and it rains it could damage a lot of the things that have already been done. which that's that's another big worry? Okay so those are the things that they're going to be watching an kind of concerned about in the months ahead and when we talk about this stadium and you bring up in a lot of people. I think don't really understand that Las Vegas has a monsoon season at the end and football season. The start of it and you're looking at the preseason. That's Kinda prime monsoon soon season so I can understand the concern there. A lot of other people talk about the parking situation We haven't really updated anything here on this podcast. Essence you were last on about the parking situation so I believe I have heard that some areas getting bought up in that there are going to be spots around there. What can you tell us about the parking as fans start to make their plans to come to games here in Vegas? What will the the the raiders have expanded the number of lots that they have acquired? I think they're now up to six or seven different different places. Where you can park and then get shuttled into into the Games? So it's now a matter matter of working out those details like which. which lot should I park in? If I'm going to be seated in this particular area. What areas are going to be most conducive induces to tailgating I it's those types of details that I think that People are looking for answers on because the capacity is not not a problem anymore. In light of the fact that they've got all these different Lots that had been purchased. In addition the raiders are kind of expecting that most of the people who will be attending these football games will either be staying at resorts on the Strip and can walk or they can take mass transit to to to the to the site and then of course there's always the the uber lift Option as well so as far as finding a place to park. I don't think that's going to be a concern It's just a different way of going to the stadium. I know that you have been to the stadium in Minneapolis. They don't have any parking the on site and it seems to work out okay with them and they haven had a super bowl there. So it's not like this is a The first time this has ever happened and the the raiders are looking in terms of this being a different experienced getting there and he wants to be a good experience helpfully. They'll find someplace to tailgate aside from. I'm in the hotels because his hotel isn't gonNA offer too much space for them to do that. But it's part of the whole experience I had heard that there was some promenade. That my turn up around the stadium that may be developed. But what do you know about who were there. There are a lot of different proposals and ideas. That are out there. And they haven't really been fully explained to to what's going on. I have heard that the raiders are of very conscious of the fact that they want to have a very good tailgate gate experience and thus they've got some plans in the works that they have not unveiled yet. They've talked a little bit To to some people who have been covering that off the record in in terms of what they want to talk about so I feel I feel like I can't really disclose what some of those conversations are but at the same time They're very very conscious of the fact that they want it to be a good tailgate experience and it sounds like what they've got planned is going to be something that the fans are GonNa look forward to okay so on Thursday which his today actually as podcast is being recorded We will have a huge meeting. Where the Raiders Stadium Authority will meet and again Kinda track all the different tasks that have to be done now as I read in your article there are forty forty one thousand only forty one thousand individual task right right now Someone schedule some behind. What can you think of Aside from the roof right now they may be kind of key things that really need to be attract on time that are on this. I know it's forty one thousand things but what key things can you think of that. They may be discussing in in a lot of respects. What they don't need to get done is maybe more important list and among those things that they're going to do is back in the house stuff so things that the fans don't even see see and they don't even really care about those are going to be wait they're gonNA wait on those? Incidentally even though they get a temporary occupancy permit to move in on July thirty first I. They're really not going to be done with the stadium until October. That's something that they've set for all in all along. That's part of their plan Among among some of the other things that are not going to be done this stadium's GonNa have four Locker rooms they're only going to really need two of them Immediately for the the raiders and for the visiting team so those other two locker rooms are probably not going to be finished right away Those are in place for for other teams had come in for for example. If you have a final four you're gonNA need four locker rooms so it's not really essential that they get get those done right away. They're certainly going to have everything that's in a public setting a completed they're gonNA have all the concession stands done. All the seats installed called They want to have all the mechanical stuff that will that will be in good working order. So those are the things that are going to be most important for them to get done And some of these other things that can wait they will wait. They just won't finish them right away. Okay as we wrap things up here give me the level of completion that you expect. This has to be at Probably let's say by July which is when they're supposed to have an opening July thirty first so if you have detractors attracted to the first of July how much percentage of the stadium will actually be done. Do you think by what you've heard I would just guess ninety ninety five percent completed And again those those Those last few items. That don't have to be done won't be done And all the public areas will. It'll be I think that the most important thing is to To to keep it safe make sure that field is in place Obviously that's a big component of the of the stadium. The the the field trae that moves in and out there already underway on that there were got the high doors pretty much done so so a lot of that is A lot of the really important things are are complete is just had roof that makes people worried because that is the key and and and there's a lot of important physics that go into how you put that roof in place People that are smarter than me can probably explain it better than I can but at the same time the fact is is that they have five engineering companies. That have come in and have reviewed how to do this and and it sounds like they've got a pretty good idea on how they're going to put in place and it's going to take some time to do it and again it's just the cable net system system that supports the translucent roof. That is kind of the concern right now whether or not it's going to be able to support the actual right. Wow all right so we will bring you in much more rick as I think we lead up to July. Maybe we'll get a monthly update going for the fans here That way we can keep them up to date on all all things happening with the stadium as well we. We certainly appreciate your time today. And can you let everybody know here where to find you on twitter. Sure I am at at Rick Vlada. RIC KVIL VIDEO OT TA and he will always be out there tweeting. He's a madman. If you follow him. He's got all these meetings. He's always up to date. He's giving you the play by. I play for everything happening with the stadium. Here allegiance stadium. Las Vegas expecting at all to be done by the time the season starts and preseason season obviously in August. So we'll keep it. Keep it tuned right here. Everybody and we'll be back with more here on Vegas nation again. That was Rick Vlada. You can can find all his stuff here on review journal Dot Com and give him a follow as well on twitter to keep up to date with everything happening on the stadium as we mentioned in that interview There is a big issue right now as to whether or not that roof will get up on time. Will it. Cause any damage to anything in there and also how. Much percentage scented of the stadium. We expect to be done. There is a meeting happening very shortly here. On a Thursday that will bring some more information to light. We hope Vinnie. I believe you have some information on that as well. What can you tell us about your knowledge of the stadium? Update US there. Yeah and you know not a construction worker So well I don't have all the technical aspects too but what I can say is that I have been assured the highest levels of the raiders. That everything's GonNa be fine. It's going to be Completed in time to host the to play out the playoff games. The two preseason games who knows off off the bus before the playoffs they gotta host a preseason game in October is usually when they when those games get played they may have. I have to start on the road for a couple of weeks in preseason Not all that unusual. But but I haven't told that everything is fine It'll all be explained nine. I think this is a lot of construction type talk. That construction people are very.

If you're not a subscriber please do subscribe was about about Google Seder and we went and spoke to the team behind the production of the end Phil Harrison. WHO's one of the executives on this actually said the in his opinion that the fact that as a streaming platform is probably one of the least interesting things about it to him? He was saying that essentially he sees this. As the way to think about gaming aiming is changing and the way that games will be developed in the future we'll be for services are more about streaming and more about playing wherever you like not relying on the particular hardware aware and that move to cloud infrastructure again in some ways he would say that because that's what Google does what they're building. It's I don't know I think maybe maybe it was always a bit of a way of being like yeah we know that the streaming things not going to be great to begin with but in the future it could be better which it seems like a lot of reviews have said head yes I think the talk from our review was terrible but tantalizing glimpse of what's to come technologies there the cultural awesomeness the of is good video games. Dot K. and we're going to be covering stadia an awful lot more over the coming months as hopefully morphs into something that actually amounts to something Second story this week speaking of dead on arrival. Well no I mean that's a terrible segue Second story this week. We'll just go the mammoths Matt Matt Matt Reynolds talk about mammoths by I will. I will save you from that. That segue so they story. We're going to head all the way to you. Sir which is a region in northeast in Russia the forms are really really large. Chunk of Siberia is home to all kinds of interesting steps. Got Siberian Forests Tundra twice as because Germany. Those forests grizzly bears as loads and loads of mammoths. And the thing you need to know about these mammoth in Siberia. The Siberian permafrost is foreing at quite a terrifying race. Actually GonNA policy. Siberia are warming about twice as fast as the rest of the planet and that's slowly. Softens is revealing the preferred preserved skeletons around ten million mammoths still buried there and all of these tests are making their way into China and the ivory trade. How people digging them up? So so what's going on right so to understand about this. Mammoth Trade China and Russia. You I need to understand the kind of we've got all these mammoths and not really works and the most important part of this is In Russia searching for and selling mammoth tusks is completely legal as long as collectors obtain a license and the trade is also really really lucrative. A single task can raise nearly twenty seven thousand pounds when it's sold into into China so with my dumb hats on presumed the this was more of a scientific endeavour that there would be real scientific merit to US going out into the depths of Siberia area and another thing these ancient creatures and understanding more about them born in actually is is a bully. Mammoth gold rush absolutely and in Siberia that Edgy. Call this ice gold white gold or ivory to this sense that there's a kind of a mammoth gold rushes you like. And that's because there's ten million of these mammoths buried in in the permafrost are actually if you're a residence Iberia. It's quite common to be walking around and come across a mammoth skeleton. And that means that the scientific community that quite a lot preserved mammoth skeletons but also because of the demand for ivory in China it's really really lucrative traits if these toss collectors who are quite often quite poor people that Livni's kind of Siberian regions. They've seen the some people right entrepreneurs millionaires have been like. Oh Yeah where'd you get your money in memory of trade so people go rent equipment. Roses or rent pumps their blast away the soil under the permafrost essentially or what sort of like the top layer and trying to extract the tasks. And if you sell one on TUSLA's enough for an entire year's wages even more than that really twenty seven thousand pounds of Tuscan each. Mammoth dumb question has to write each mile of does have to toss ten million and so that's twenty million tusks worth twenty seven thousand pounds each in a region of Russia with no discernible economy where life expectancy is amongst its is lowest in the world. This is a really really poor isolated place and there's gold hiding under the mud. Yeah exactly and it's all about this. Massive the demand for ivory in China so basically China is the world's largest market for ivory and really really good friend about mammoth Tusk is the it's more or less completely indiscernible or indistinguishable from elephant ivory so you can sub one for the other. That's what I was going to ask about next. I think mammoths I think elephants connected. Is this like math Goldrush. Good for the elephants. Yeah that's the question really so the answer is maybe maybe which is kind of annoying off with their so so let me give you a little bit context right so what happens with these tasks that come from Siberia the usually end up making their way to China via Royal Hong Kong because that tends to be kind of a gateway for into China and although when you see a mom of taxes you quite yellow is quite discolored is going to be picked Brown cracks running running for and stuff like that. Wouldn't you carve up mammoth task. It's more or less indistinguishable from elephant ivory. So what you tend to find one of these towns in China where every big into ivory carving and even the soldiers mummify for people like you know some of that and what happened in China in twenty seventeen. Is it China in a banned the import and sales of an ivory and since then it looks like ivory carvers and vendors switching to mammoth material on massive. Sounds kind kind of good for elephants. I guess if is poaching being elephant ivory being outlawed and my mom's coming into substitution but things are not necessarily that supercross. Some people think that bringing in mammoths might sustain the trade in ivory. There's this idea that actually we want people to buy ivory full stop and if people can buy mammoth mammoth ivory were. Maybe they'll say oh. I thought that was mammoth. Ivory but really elephant ivory there's been kind of cases of ivory being mislabeled even if the tusk themselves out really mislabeled simple so some people argue that actually could be damaging to elephants and that's why in August as an attempt to get manners on the endangered species list so a species that's been extinct for thousands. Thousands of years now wants to be labeled endangered species. Able no one asks the member so exactly bit late for me me. So basically Israel brought this conference called site cit airs which is big wildlife trafficking conference if she like and they said we think Mama should be added to the endangered species list which means they would not be able to be traded outlawed the trading of mirrors that that was basically to be turned down because a lot of people say that. Actually this is. This is good right. If these vendors can get their ivory from legal means free Russia then people aren't going to be looking to poach ivory that's what those elephants. There's one study that said that. Yes the eight eighty tons of of exported from Russia in an average year. Would you poaching of elephants from fifty five individuals like fifty five thousand individuals to thirty four thousand. So there's some evidence that perhaps this mammoth ivory trade is. That's a elephants. It seems to me that mammoth ovaries less price than than elephants. I for it seems like it's a win win in the two and you get this thing that's been ask from the ground and from thousands of years ago I would quite like the. I'll be much more interested in a mammoth Tyson. Elephant tusks their boards and down the elephants. It does seem that Chinese unease ivory buyers are slowly waking up to the sense that maybe manner can be an okay substitute so people sometimes is more interested in the quality of the carving. How intricate the Trinket or that kind of thing is although it's worth noting that there are some things like chopsticks or the bigger carving things the the they typically are usually elephant elephant ivory is cleaner? It's it's a slightly different quality so there are some substitutes. That just don't seem to Saban easily so mammoths too good for little it'll trinkets and pendants and medallions the small things. But as you say when you scale it up you start to see the imperfections in the slight differences in the makeup of these tasks. But can we just rewind unwinded. Let's go let's go back to Siberia you mentioned how these mammoth hunters are getting this stuff out of the the permafrost and the story that we around this week on the site had this very sort of vodka tive scene where it laid out this wild West Frontier. How are they actually getting these things out of the ground? Yeah it's quite remarkable. So what they'll do is they'll kind of asked local villages and stuff. I seen any of those mammoths around and they'll say oh. Yeah actually a bunch eh flooring up here and you typically might be a little bit a bone or something that's kind of sticking out of the mud and then what they do is they get these huge firefighter's hoses and then they get. They have engines often engines from engines from scooters or motorbikes or things like that that they basically kind of engineer or tinker with so they can be they turn them into water puns and what they do is they essentially blast away this this bank of mud and slew and essentially what is left. All this mud washes away these skeletons. uh-huh and we'll end up doing. Is they take the TUSK which obviously worth bunch of money but they leave behind. The whole Red Skeleton was nice is that sometimes they also really interesting interesting finds I think they found some kind of an ancient war. It's about forty thousand years old and they kind of gave this to a local museums as soon as they really archaeologically significant things as well but but it really is quite a brute force. We're talking digging. Tunnels and sprang ceilings and stuff. And there's been lots of cases of accidents where Tuscon of Ruse News of. Clap the store that you had injuries quite Quite dangerous work. Yeah absolutely and Russia's made attempts to regulate it right so you now have to have a license to go out and and sell mammoth tusks and the people that we spoke to in.

Another seagull fact at at my series the number of seagulls in the UK has quadrupled between two thousand and two thousand fifteen according to the recent seagull census so that the government agency and he kind of counts the number of seagulls regular intervals and the number of them is massively on the rise partly G to growing waste food being left out and he islands Canarias could environment for them to grow tune in next week for another CEO. Fact from amid. Matt Burgess. What did you learn vans? Vans they go this this week. I learned the vans in the U K. Now travel fifty six percent more miles in total than they did in the two thousand. This is because a huge increase in Van's edge youtube deliveries essentially And it over the same period. Cars have only started to travel nine presentable. Thanks Amazon Matt Reynolds. I learned that slots can hold their bread breath. I can make an old bridges lungs they want. They can hope that threat though for up to forty minutes underwater ultimately on land as well. It's really really long time long dolphins. Why is because they can reduce the heart rate by about to about one third of the normal heart rate is it kind of slows? Donald Metabolism. So they need to burn auction more slowly so they can hold their breath. That's how but why we don't know why and I also know. They can swim three times faster than they can walk. We suggest to me that doing stuff in water and so they want to hold their breath. That's I didn't know she didn't give him a grilling on his his van question. Follow up so that all the follow this week. Did you Matt Reynolds. I learned this week that there are only three countries in the world. Oh that still don't use the metric system. I would ask you to guess what they ought. I've written them down on the show notes that you're looking at so I will reveal the man Mar Liberia and the United States even though the US in the late eighteen hundreds approved the use of the metric system. It's being quite slow to adopt it to to the point that it just hasn't even though the scientists and people in industry do use the metric system in the US. It's still imperial there. We go good perfect. Thank you very much. No additional grillings Matt Reynolds. So how have always trying to think of a clever question to stump you already. I think one thing. That's all right. Our first story this week is Google Stadium which launched promising to change gaming forever. and hasn't Matt Burgess yes also this week we saw the long awaited by some people launch of Google Stadia. which is Google's big gaming play? It's it's effort to disrupt the multi billion dollar gaming industry and really try and take a piece of that sort of money pie as well money pies not a thing. You can have a taste taste the money. Pi If you like so visit yes so for recap. This is bought giggles stadium raise Is Not a console is a cloud gaming service which means that Google is using its general sort of googling us to bring cloud computing to the gaming world which means it's data centers are being used to being games over the Internet. TV phone laptop tablet computer any other device essentially things that can use google chrome to play on your TV. You have to have a google chrome cast ultra which uses chrome and there is no real hardware to this? Oh Google has built a controller which you can use to play games. But you don't have to use Google's version of it and you can use an expert's control of types of controllers was bashing is largely the same as of a control is out there and is pretty much like a subscription service in some life and that's what we knew before it launched So one of my colleagues common he does a lot of games. Coverage has spent a few days with Google Stadia trying out in real world conditions and you can read his very indepth two thousand word review on. What can you K- and I'm sure you've probably read reviews on other sites as well if you're into your gaming and universal takeaway if you like is it's not that goods? Yes so maybe let's start with the actual games which are obviously obviously a fundamental part of any sort of gaming system. There isn't really a huge amount. That has come with Google Stadium. There's only one exclusive at launch. Which is again called guilt which is developed by Rhyme Studio Tequila works and it's the only exclusive title that Google has got and it's a bit of a horror? Ah Game which is involved in this kid that you have to take around and complete various tasks not know what it is but it's very it doesn't seem like it's a blockbuster game essentially something that has come from from a smaller studio and really that is the only exclusive Other than that. There's a lot of games that you can well as a few of the Games that you can pay for this right right deputy to rise tomb raider metrics assassin's creed Odyssey. Farming stimulates simulates. You put that one in. And these also pick hiccup top games is only about twenty two games launched with Google Stadia ready and all these are all titles one exclusive more than two or three years old these old old old titles that list I just wrote off there was a pick pick of the very best of these twenty two which isn't a huge Palette to pick from. If you're going to spend a regular monthly fee or by gaming controller from Google. Yes these games most of already head of they're not there's not many exclusive exclusive and imagining joining. Most people are already play. These games already. Owned these games so how much my paying here for access to these games appropriate pay them different platform so there's a few different pricing options So you could buy the crime cost. Ultra which comes with a premium subscription to stadia pro which costs one hundred and nine hundred thousand pounds. Nothing you get control of with that as well potentially chilly and you used and then the other option is the state stadia pro which is eight nine thousand nine per month. which gives you access zest to some free games as well as some paid ones as well so I mean not to come kind of sequel steadier politics but the point of the system I guess is the fact is what the launch games all right now? It's the fact that you can play them anywhere on any device regardless of how powerful device is and that's kind of stadia promise but but there's a bit of a problem with so the people that are buying this right now. We're going to be like the mad early adopter fanatics not mad dedicated early adopter fanatics. They really WANNA get in early with this exciting. You technology and all Google's giving them is games that they've already played on other platforms. Several years ago in some circumstances played better on the platforms some years ago issues with lag and particularly when people have been taking these games out into the messy real world where Internet connections Shinzo Perfect. You don't have white Ethernet. It becomes a problem. And that's what law reviews being saying. It's like yeah it might be good one day but right now it's kind of rubbish Bache and the people that are binding on day one are going to be its harshest critics because daddy early adopters and if what seeing is a sort of impression impressive technical all demo with no real substance than it's just a bit like Oh why did I pay my good money for this. Yeah so none of us hair of actually tried it at this stage but my who reviewed it forest Forest Matt Cameron. What about freelances has reviewed and said basically two scenarios which he's put forward so he was drawing drawing using the chrome cost auto and home and he said the in this scenario the software launched very quickly there was noticeable lag? There was no stutter impediment when trying to use the games and when he tried to use stadia on his computers again in a home home based environment and to use on your computer you have to use stadiums controller. What a controller? This moment which basically it worked so on his computer tested with an xbox controller. He tested with a headset COUPLA. Ah Things and he said this or technical side of this home in his house worked fantastically and which you would sort of hope for good Internet connection. Yeah one thing. I was kind of disappointed disappointed by that. So you mentioned that you can play on your computer which is really awesome. But it's a shame that most of these titles got Lawrence. There were console games. You'RE GONNA play on your computer. We're the controller. It would be awesome if you could say have certain games and maybe you can only play with a keyboard. Or maybe you'd have games on the console because it'd be greater than you could access across both rather than saying the minute right. I have a laptop like play games really but I might play one onto might be kind of fun. It'd be great if I could have prescriptions. have excuse but I'm going to dip into those and console gaming or the same time. There's actually an opportunity to do this. It feels is not really being taken advantage of. And this is the best stuff gets kinda muddled so you subscribe to stadia pro. which gets you access to the stadia service into which a bundled some games? It's not many and read over long-term probably none or near none and then you have to rebuy the games that you already bought two to three years ago. Oh and you might think oh well you just buying essentially time on Google service to play them but still being charged up to sixty pounds four the game. Even though you're getting is essentially time Google Service. It's quite muddled as a play for the gaming community and even though it's a multibillion dollar industry at this stage age with the early adopters again this is a community of fanatics. And while whatever you were saying is Google's got the technical aspects of it down quite neatly way you've got to get Internet Internet connection. What it hasn't nailed is gaming? Yeah I think what you said just then it's quite quite apt you're you're paying. Subscriptions has almost the server time. You're paying that monthly fees that you don't have to go out and buy the expensive gaming. PC and what. It's paid latest games. Assuming these games come to Google Stadia in good time talks the real crux of the matter and bigger promises. Well in this Google vision of gaming is that you can play any way you can play on your mobile phone on the bus. You can take it on. Sort of like a tablet or things like that anything we've chromium essentially using chrome this very early stage found that it just. It doesn't really work so he tried to play a few games with a decent ideology connection And they wouldn't so of load or they wouldn't really connect tried on certain Public Wifi on trains and coffee shops and again games weren't able to launch and that seems like a really fundamental issue this even his early early stage when the promise is this gaming wants to be gaming for everywhere for everything for every time but the day. You can't really do and admittedly admittedly some of that is out of Google's hands because you need a good Internet connection Google not providing now but it still seems like a little bit my floor in the bigger vision at least to me and in turns of access to titles so the twenty available at launch is quite good in terms of console launch four number but in terms of newness and exclusivity is more more or less nonexistent. And the problem. That Google's got is it's not a games developer not against publisher. It doesn't have this rich history. The nintendo and Sony and even though Mark Soft did come into the industry quite late that Mike's still had from its days of working on direct tax. xbox Google doesn't have that so particularly going up against playstation and xbox which have subscription services gives you access to huge back catalogue of games and you just get dozens and dozens of titles. The play as part of the subscription people are going to presume that stadium is that and right now for the foreseeable future stadia. Isn't that so I was speaking talking to mark soft about projects cloud which has its competitor to Google Stadium which will be coming out towards the end of next year and a nice line the they kept on repeating being over and over again. What it said? Yeah but can play on the bus. They said what would you expect to be able to stream a youtube video in high quality on that bus on my mobile network. The answer in London. Ordinarily is.

"stadium" Discussed on Hands-On Tech
"Google really likes to release. Its things early meaning. Google doesn't mind letting some of its users in on a product or hardware it's releasing before it's perhaps all cooked in the tech world. This is absolutely nothing new. The stadium founders edition definitely falls into that category and that's not necessarily summarily a bad thing. It's just important to note that going in so what is stadium. Well stadium is what Google game console would-be but without the actual console stadium is totally cloud based meaning. It leans on Google's cloud servers to run and store the Games in its library. Everything is streamed from those servers to players device and that device could be a TV with the chrome cast ultra that's capable of four K.. Streaming it could also be chromebook own book or a laptop running the chrome browser. It could even be a Google Pixel phone. It makes a lot of promises and it's quite intriguing. Actually actually no costly console purchase needed just to sixty nine dollar controller coupled with a nine dollars ninety nine cents monthly subscription for four K to get at the stadium service you can get ten. Eighty P for free and with that players can get triple eight games stream to their devices in full four K.. Resolution at its peak with the support for HD are sixty frames per second and five point one surround sound even better because the games are running on Google servers in the cloud. It's like you're playing. The beefy EST gaming computer with the highest quality rendering settings on and updates will be done automatically behind the scene so many of the annoying knowing asterisks associated with PC gaming is kind of removed from the equation for the player. Just fire up the APP sync up the Stadia Controller that I have right here in play Klay top Tier Games but is this the future of gaming. Let's take a look at the stadium founders edition. This is what you get in the founders edition this whole package right here cost about while one hundred thirty dollars preordered back in June. It includes the controller that you have here which I'm GonNa talk about in a second And it also has this chrome cast ultra. This is the chrome cast that streams four K.. Resolution HDMI port. And then finally this is the power for the chrome cast ultra and important to note. It does have the wired Ethernet option. So you don't have to go fully wireless with the Crown Cast Ultra. You can wire it and you're ah you're probably just going to get better stability out of your streaming With stadium when you do that the controller I will say like it's got a really nice design. It feels really good in in the hands of the buttons. Feel Nice Everything the lay out. It's all laid out really nicely. You've got your pretty standard you know controller's analog and and digital controllers as well as the four button layout Four shoulder buttons up here but then you have kind of exclusive to the Stadia Layout you had had this options button. which are the three dots? Got The menu button right here. This is a capture button for when you want to capture things and in this early preview. That's not a feature. Yeah that's live neither is this. This is the assistant to Google Assistant Button And that's not a live during this early previews well. You can kind of see as I'm moving the controller color around they're just like little scratches throughout. We're pretty We're pretty delicate with this controller. Yet it seems to pick up marks pretty easily. Some some of these marks actually came from this. This is a smartphone mount you can snap onto the top. This was included in the box. But I don't believe that this is actually actually a included in the official founders edition but in snapping at to the the controller and off. It was already leaving some marks and stuff so if you're OCD that may bother you over time But overall I mean the controller. I really liked the feel of it. Other features that you'll find here on the bottom of three point five millimeter. Headphone Jack for plugging in headphones also has a little microphone again. This is another feature that is not active during the this early preview But you can ha- you use that microphone Talk inside of games and stuff like that and then up on the top just a USB see see charging port We'll say one thing I really like about this controller. Aside from the air comic feel and and how comfortable it is enhanced it has the haptic Kind kind of rumble effect happening in each of these arms and I felt like it's a pretty strong haptic kick to it so really like it. Another unique feature of this controller or is that it connects to the Internet via Wi fi directly. Okay so this isn't like Bluetooth to the crown cast. This is actually reaching out via Wi fi lie to the internet And they do that to cut down even further on latency so that does improve things. Someone for this preview that that I did the stadium controller actually operates wireless mode only when it's connected to the crown cast ultra in order to test with the The Pixel Book and the Pixel Excel which we'll talk about it in a second. It had to be wired. So I had to plug from the SPEC- poured directly into those devices. Google does say that wireless support for all of these platforms is coming early twenty twenty. Now's for third party controllers Stadia does support third party controllers like this one the dual shock four four controller that you might have hanging around although it's mixed support right now for different platforms. TV It's not gonNA work although it will work with Google chrome and some of the Pixel phone whether it's wired or via Bluetooth so the big concern among Gamers is whether a fully cloud based top Tier Council can go toe to toe with the expensive consoles that were used used to buying and plugging directly into our home theater systems. How does the Internet affect the gaming experience when it's all streaming from the cloud? Well I fired up stadium. Stadia on my pixelbook wirelessly getting twenty two megabits per second down ninety megabits per second up and I had some. Let's say serious stuttering issues. I was was playing mortal Kombat eleven. It's a fast paced button Masher and I could keep up even when the video stopped and started but only because I was just pressing buttons like a Madman There's no way that I'd be really happy if this was my everyday experience on my pixel xl. I enjoyed. I would say a pretty seamless experience. Of course I I was getting one hundred nine megabits per second down and one hundred sixty nine megabits per second up but everything felt really smooth. I was really enjoying this. Actually the phone mound Detaches the phone to the top of the controller and. I'm not so sure this phone. Mount is included in the founders edition it was outside of the founders addition edition box but it was in the box Google sent over. And it's a nice edition so maybe look out for that but the forced portrait mode that you see in the stadium stadia APP when you're selecting games that's weird definitely not ideal and finally on the included chrome cast ultra which was a wired connection pulling ninety megabits per second down and ten megabits per second up. Things looked crystal clear on our big four K.. Samsung display most of the time when four K.. was locked in everything was beautiful and impressive. But you just never knew when suddenly out of the blue everything would just down. Res- No one wants to lose a tournament. Due to some random network worked fluctuation and that's the reality cloud based streaming game content. I suppose another factor that could make or break. Stadia is latency and in my time playing these games. I've noticed little personally. In the way of latency that negatively affected my own game play Anthony Producer of hands on tech did some tests and number crunching running shadow the tomb raider on a PS four pro. And then also on the stadia to compare the latency between the two the PS four pro averaged one hundred twenty three milliseconds stadia average. Two hundred thirty nine milliseconds almost exactly two times. The amount of latency thing is I couldn't really notice a negative effect on my game play experience but I don't play competitively not saying there isn't a difference. I'm just saying the latency worked for me but twice. The latency is worrisome. Worrisome on paper so your mileage may vary okay so the jury is totally still out for me. I'm down with the promise of stadia leading Google handle the heavy be lifting and just showing up with a dumb browser or phone along with the stadia controller is pretty sweet from convenience standpoint but the big challenge for Google is making the experience seamless. Enough will gamers forgive stadia when it begins to stutter or throughout the course of a session video quality waffles sporadically between full four K.. Resolution Lucien and any number of inferior resolutions at random. I've had to remind myself. This is early the stadium founders. Edition is only shipping out to people who preordered months months ago to be in on the ground floor of something very new and different. The rest of the public should get access to this stuff early next year. And when that happens Google Google plans to have a number of features that were disabled for this early preview active and ready for the masses. But we'll gamers forgive and forget these early issues by the time time it's out for everyone something tells me that's asking a lot. I'm Jason.
