When the calendar turns to 2022, we'll be right here talking about the NFL playoff picture. Weekday mornings at 6 eastern on ESPN radio. 8 straight for the Chicago Bulls. Safe to say they're back, baby. They've been back. Speaking of back, back to back buzzer beaters for demar Derozan that happened not only in back to back games with back to back years. Good luck ever breaking that record. Not gonna happen unbreakable record. It's been in bed Sarah Spain, Jason Fitz, ESPN radio ESPN app SiriusXM channel 80, we're presented by Progressive Insurance. And it's time for some straight talk, brought to you by straight talk wireless. We're gonna give it to you straight about the bulls who are streaking, baby. Number one in the east and joining us to talk about them Chicago Bulls TV broadcaster also broadcast where you can hear him on Sunday's talking NFL for Fox Sports covering games. It's Adam Amin Adam, thanks for the time. What's up buddy? How's it going? You're feeling good. This is a mood. This is a vibe you know. I can feel it over the phone right now. Listen, for a number of reasons, number one, because when the season started and the bulls were hot, a lot of people were telling me to chill, you know, it's not gonna last. They've played a bunch of bad teams. They just got out to a hot start. Here we are. It's a new year. It's 2022. They've got their longest win streak since 2012. And secondarily, because when we decided to sign deshaun demar Derozan, I was in great player, great person, can't wait, and so many people tried to come on this very show and talk me out of it and tell me it was a bad signing and tell me the bulls weren't gonna be very good. It gave him bad grades. And here we are now, Adam. Tell me what it's been like watching and calling what demar has been doing. And meanwhile, Zach lavine having like 35 points. Meanwhile, wild Mars making those buzzer beaters. It is, so every time we look at championship level teams, I am not saying that's where the bulls are at. I'm just trying if that's the gauge that we use to determine how good a team is, right? If you're good enough to win a championship, that's the gauge that we're using. So what are the elements to that? Are the pieces there? Is the chemistry good? Do you have three levels of scoring ability? You have a defense that can keep you in games when the offense is playing, particularly well, like we saw last night. All of those elements are there. So awesome, right? Now you need stars to elevate that. Zach lavine is an all star. We saw that last year. He continues to play well. Nikola vucevic has a full season under his belt or this whole first full season under his belt. Caruso's playing well boss playing well. And now you have somebody who has had a phenomenal track record for a long period of time and has done a lot of different things. Whatever he's been asked to do by whatever coaching staff, he has been coaching him, whether it's been in Toronto, whether it was Popovich in San Antonio or whether it's now here with Billy Donovan and the bulls, he is performed at an exceptionally high level for a long time, so that's where the confusion lies for people like you for people like me who heard, well, I like the margarita man. I don't know if that's going to work. I don't know if the fit is going to be like, you can debate the value of contracts and discuss that. And those are valid discussions that you can have that about any player in the NBA. So if we're just talking basketball, the fit felt like it should be pretty good, and now you have the elevation of play the chemistry, the combination of these puzzle pieces that just seemingly work together well on a night tonight basis. I'm as surprised as you were that the general consensus seemed to be so low on what this team was capable of doing. Now, I think there are going to be a 51 team. No, I thought 44 wins, 45 wins is a pretty good mark. And they're on pace and pass that right now. So pretty good run that I think they're on right now and it looks to be sustainable. So Adam, you know, I don't want to gloss over the success of Caruso and ball. You just mentioned a couple of guys that, I mean, other teams have given up on essentially a different times. What's Billy Donovan been able to do as a coach to get the most out of so many different guys. I think that's where the NBA needs coaches, right? You need them to manage personnel and you need them to manage ego and you need them to manage expectation. And that's what he's done really, really well. We've talked about this a little bit locally in Chicago now. I'm sure Spain has heard a little bit, but the balance of basketball ego on this team is in really good harmony right now. When we talk about how ego is important to the success of the great athlete, right? You have to have a certain level of ego. And then you can say it up about any industry on the planet. You have to have a certain level of ego that the confidence to be able to do certain things that other people maybe can't do. And to be able to manage that in a way where everybody feels like they're contributing to everybody else's success when there is a certain level of it. That's pretty hard to maintain for a while. The fact that Billy Donovan has gotten that type of buy in from a lot of different players and maybe 50 it's part of the reason that it's worth is because there are some guys that have some chips on their shoulders, Alonzo ball, and Alex Caruso, maybe even demar Derozan has felt that he's talked about that underdog mentality a lot. Maybe that's where the management part of coaching in the NBA comes in. The players are going to win you games. The players are going to win or lose games. They're going to go out there and execute or not execute. They're going to make shots or not make shots. They're going to win and lose you games. But if you can manage these little elements that are really key to the completion of a team, I think that's where Billy Donovan is really, really good. I think his demeanor is kind of composure in moments high and low. I think everybody kind of has fed into that and fed off of that a little bit. Adam amine is with us here on the Goodyear hotline on Spain and Fitz ESPN radio you can hear him nightly calling bulls games alongside Stacy king. You can also hear him talking covering, I guess. Seahawks cardinals this weekend on Fox Sports. So, you know, I'm curious when the season started. We'd spent a lot of time talking about how they defined expectations defensively. A lot of that Caruso and ball sort of pressing up and then getting break away buckets as a result to turnovers. Let's get into what the concerns are now because I think most people have kind of thought that defensively they've done a lot better and that concern is kind of gone. What do you see now on a regular basis that makes you think, okay, when it comes to the elite very

"The grizzlies? Maximum drama. This is you're in the pocket of thick furno now. Grizzlies warriors, instant rivalry, you know, turned up to 11 with those two and for Kevin Durant from a player roster standpoint. It makes sense because he can lead this young team. He can be the reason why they get over the top. But as John and all those young guys get older, he can age gracefully as he nears the end of his contract. And it's easy to figure out salary wise too. So I had them written down. They obviously have the capability to do a four four one 5 for one, whatever. I have some questions. We're selling, you can answer this first one. Is Jaron Jackson in that trade? I mean, they were trying to limit those if you had your untouchables list. He'd be the second guy that's untouchable. And that's how I feel. Right. Whenever you're, you know, I think I said this earlier this week, but the rule is kind of why do I trade my solution for your problem? Yeah. So that's why you don't usually get Durant a little different, you would think. I don't think it would destroy who Memphis was, but he was just, I thought he was so good this year. And I think he's going to get better on offense too. So I'm sure they would try to figure out a way around doing that, but then it's like, okay, cool, like Dylan Brooks. All right, seriously. So if you're the grizz, if you can do a Durant off our while making jaw and triple J and bane are the three that and you can have everyone else in as many picks as we have. But we're keeping those three. So it's something like, it's Brooks, it's dire Williams, Brandon Clark, Steven Adams, expiring, and a million picks. And I'm not sure that's enough for Brooklyn. But I'm with the KFC. Well, whoo bids them, though, in that case. Well, we're going to keep going. We're selling the third pick. This is before Chicago stunk. I loved seeing this mini Chicago revival. I just loved it. Like there'd be these Saturday night games and be home and just like seeing that place go nuts. Stacy king on the mic. Yeah, hot sauce. And Adam doing it. There's something about Chicago. Like, I would love to see them be, you know, look, it's not going to be Jordan, but kind of like in the mix of like, hey, they could come out of the east. And one of their biggest issues when you started seeing the cracks a little bit, you go, if they are in a playoff series, how do they defend any of those other big wings, not to say that Giannis or Doran are even easy to defend, but it felt like they had no options and the only one was a guy and Patrick Williams coming back after a rookie year. We still don't know what to do with them. So you could probably do something where you're like Derozan. This was incredible, man. The first half of the season. What a revival. However, thank you. And then maybe you could even throw a Patrick Williams to picks, you know, maybe Kobe white. None of this is going to feel good for Brooklyn. Every one of these that we throw out there unless there's just this one anchor piece that somebody else is going to come up with. But I'm looking at more for just the make believe, pretend, you know, let's not apply the rules too strictly here. I think Durant in Chicago just would be awesome going into a year. I had them as well. What if it was a Zach lavine sign and trade? And then the bulls threw in Patrick Williams as well. KSC, is that that feel like 70 to 80 cents on the dollar for you at that point? Katie's gonna be to 16th year next year. I mean, something like that's fine. I want picks too if I'm the nets though. I don't want just a player in that case. I think there would be some picks. Bobby marks had a tweet about how he thought Durant would command more than the biggest player ever. The biggest return ever, yeah. I thought that was insane. Davis is nobody there will never be a bigger trade than the Anthony Davis trade. That is the most assets that will ever be in a trade in our lifetime. In my opinion. Unless like Giannis got traded tomorrow. Do you want plausible destinations or fun destinations? No, fun. I think the bulls is a good pick. I think I'm going to go forth and I think this is a really fun idea. Oklahoma City Thunder. Yeah. Come on home, KD. All is forgiven. The old wound. We have Westbrook is gone. That's for you. Westbrook's gone. That was one of the reasons you left. We have some cap space for you. We can create this thing. We'll use all our picks. We're going to become an instant correct. Come back here, like how LeBron came to Cleveland in 2014. Come home. Come to your safe place. You never should have left. And they try to work it out. I mean, they certainly have among the most assets. You could say. So, Chris, you suggested that on a text thread, you seem enthused about that one. Yeah, I mean, I think that the more I thought about it though, and this is kind of a long the same come on home stuff is I've always heard that he's never been.

"Left tap. For the Blazers. Loose ball to Lillard. A three for the land. Oh, my goodness. You've gotta be. Willard hits the three and the Blazers with a stunner. You got to be kidding. Oh, my goodness. That is unbelievable. Awful jump ball. Wow. Yeah. Stacey King Adam. I mean, they were quite surprised. You hear the surprise in Stacy King's voice. When you want to the game, there's 11 seconds left Europe five. You're going, okay? Gonna win this one. There's no way they're going to drop this one. They did a couple of three pointers. If you want to give less that you got an opinion 3123323776. The Bulls outscored the Blazers 33 29 in the third quarter and 36 30 in the fourth. So they about they outscored him by 10 points in the second half shows you how much they were down. They were down 19 after getting outscored 30 to 19 in the second quarter. They fell behind but came back that'll back in $19 character builder a bit, but it's certainly a heartbreak. Yeah, you would think and, uh, it was interesting because they call the jump ball. It was a quick jump. All that was called A Zach Levine got tied up after the three as the Bulls inbound the ball and a Billy Donovan, the bull's head coach, said. I didn't really like that call. Even if we advance the ball. We have to anticipate that you know, there's enough time to get a quick trap. And then you have to foul and You know, the ball comes into Zach. Um And You know, I don't even know if necessarily. He ended up looking for anybody. Because there was such a quick jump ball called. I mean, it was It was about as a quick of a jump balls I've ever seen. And you can't challenge that. I didn't Think it was. Really? Ah, good call at that point time like I get tie ups, But they just kind of like, grab the ball. She just called jump all Danica did. But listen, You know, we've got to be stronger in those situations. I could have helped a little bit more. I think maybe possibly calling time out trying to advance the ball. You know, But again, we could have been at a time out. Listen in those situations I've learned a lot of things can happen. You know I could call time out. We could advance the ball and then not get it in and it be a five second count. You know, we could turn the ball over. Ah, lot of things could happen and you know for me We got it into Zack. I felt good about it. You know, we obviously turned it over. We gotta jump ball. It didn't end. Well, there was a lot of things like there was a loose ball. We probably should have just someone should dove on it. You know, just to kind of even take more time off the clock. But you know, looking at it from my perspective. The ball get invented pretty quickly. But maybe when the ball when the basket you know, I should just call time out immediately. And maybe that would have helped a little bit more. I love Billy Donovan. The way, he explains, always impressed. Always impressive, like listening to him, and he actually took a little bit of blaming those. Maybe I could have called time out. We could have advanced the ball. You know, if we couldn't get the ball inbounds, they would call the five seconds But that would be up to us and then they'd have further to go. Get a shot off and things like that. But it didn't work. Bulls go lose 1 23 1 22 for the game. Larry marketing with 31 points 12 of those in the third quarter. Jack Levin had 26 Zach. Did you say, Jack? I might've guys Ace exact with it, but but they they had They shot the ball shot 46 47% from three. Okay, That's pretty damn good. Right? Tyler 47% from three years ago, I remember they flashed a graphic at one point in the second half and the bulls were shooting 60%. I think in the half that's when they were making their comeback down 19, but I mean, that's one of those games where, Okay, if it happens against the Clippers that happens against the Lakers, so be it. Like we've seen it happen a couple of times this season, But when you're doing it against the thunder without without C. J. McCollum right against the Trail Blazers with Mama calm and the Warriors were a little short handed when you cough that one up too, right? That's the residual effect of we haven't been a good team the last couple years we don't know how to win. And those first two, I thought would be the end because we have seen them respond pretty well. But I mean, last night was inexcusable. Yeah, and I think they feel that way too. 3123323776. As Sylvie said it. I've said it to the Bulls are fun watch. They're more fun to watch this year that they have been in the past. They play hard they going into yesterday's game. I had the stats here and I didn't get chance to use him yesterday. The Bulls were fifth in the N B A in points scored offensive point score. There were fifth They were there 30 teams in the NBA. They were 28th in points allowed. So you know, the defense has to get better. Next thing the defense has to figure things out this, uh, there are a few people reporting over the last day or so that the Knicks are looking at Levine. Does that make sense for the Bulls to give up on him, Tyler? Already. I mean, it's just It's just that I don't think so. I mean he's so cheap in terms of like, I'm not saying he's a superstar, but he's a very good player. You could be an all star this year, and he's very cheap by all Star standards. I think he's getting like 2021 million this year..
