Roasts Are the Junkyard Dog of Comedy
"And from the standpoint of a comedian who goes to roast, which are the junkyard dog, you know, teeth, gnashing, fucking bloodsport, the roaster blood sports. You know, I go back to a roast many years ago. I mean, maybe some of you heard this, but Johnny Carson was roasting. I'm going to fuck this up. I forget who the roast was for. But Elizabeth Taylor was in the front row, I believe, and Carson said something like we were going to hold this roast, we were looking for a bigger venue for this roast, but Elizabeth Taylor's punch was taken. That's the way the roast began. You know, I don't have to remind you of Ted Danson and Whoopi Goldberg with Ted and blackface. I was at that roast. Linda Stacy and I were one of the two journalists to ever be allowed to attend a roast like that. And it was an honor. And to see Ted, you know, in blackface was startling. You knew it was wrong. His girlfriend Whoopi is right there, apparently Whoopi wrote the jokes from him. Whoopi said the blackface was fine. But the way it opened, where Ted's mom said, ten, I'm worried about you in this whoopee girl. What about, how do you feel about having kids with that? And he said, mom, relax, I'm only fucking her in the ass. I only bring these up to show you how crazy dirty roast are

Do you really not know that more people have died in 2021 than died in 2020? Do you not know that? Don't say do I not. You're not going to clean me down a certain amount of ignorance. The deal is I'm actually educated. I hear these people call me and calling you intellectual. And yet you don't give that. Let me quote, let me quote here, I don't know if you'll trust Reuters. Stacey Stacey, you asked me for a question. I'm giving you an answer. You want an answer? You want an answer, right? COVID deaths in 2021 have now surpassed the toll in 2020 with 350,000 since inauguration day. Listen 2020. 2020 and 2021 are directly responsibility of food. You're going to tell me Biden? You challenged me. You just Stacey. See why I can't do this because people like Stacey don't want to have a conversation because you're so defeated already before you call. You asked me to give you the number of deaths in 2021 while Joe Biden was president. You know, I gave a Stacy. I gave it to you. Excuse me, you're nobody could hear you because you're not letting me even talk to you and I'm gonna let you talk. You asked me how many people died in 2021 because you said it's not true that more people died under Biden's presidency in the year that he's been president than

By the way they want to raise taxes. This is like You know, the third or fourth time is that Republicans in this county do things that are not Republican. "About what's going to happen with my children who's gonna give them a hug who's gonna take. Obviously you know i mean. I've got family that. Would that would step in and take care of them but but it's the little things it's the day to day things that you mentally go through That makes it really hard. How's your has your health now now. I'm good scrape. I had double mastectomies deal. I don't identify myself as a cancer survivor. I just look at it as this was a shit ass time in my life and now it's over and all of that a you know getting past the medical issues selling the company. All of that adds up to taking control. And that's my sense of bold so you kind of cut it now. You got your mind in a new space amazing. stay soon. You think about the trajectory of your life in your career and the incredible success you had do you. Do you think that it's because of the skills that you brought in the hard work that you brought or do you think that luck played a bigger role in that. You know a lot of people say oh. She got lucky. That really pisses me off because you know yeah maybe the stars aligned and maybe the timing was right for a lot of things but each and every one of the challenges and the hurdles that you overcome others might not have gotten there and we did. I could've very easily followed the path that my father laid out for me. Now i probably could have just stayed in that comfort zone but yes by moving to this place in moving to that place in taking on additional challenges you i think you develop the skill somewhat of a survival skill. That's what got us to where we were in two thousand seven when we sold. Yeah maybe there was some luck in there but there was a lot of skill. That's involved in crossing that finish line that stacey madison co-founder of stacy's chips by the way stacy is still in the food business. A few years ago along with her brother. Dave she launched a new energy stack called be bold bars but she hasn't forgotten her first obsession and she still gets excited when she sees somebody buying a bag of her pita chips. There was a time. I was in the grocery store and this woman picked up two or three bags and she put them in her car and i just couldn't resist. I'm like you know what i'm going to tell her i did. I went up. And.

"Hey welcome back to how a built this from npr. So it's the late nineteen nineties. Stacey and mark have created kind of a side hustle out of a side hustle selling pita chips from the little sandwich cards. They started in boston and at a certain point. The chips are doing so well that they decided to make more of them. They're using an oven. That can only make eight racks of them at a time but then they find a way to scale up. We met a very nice woman when we were doing the food cart. Who sold pretzels. It was boston pretzel bakery. And she said oh. I have a forty rack oven. Why don't you come try to make them over there. So we went over to boston pretzel. And we mixed up are the pita chips and we were able to make a rack of forty of them at a time. Instead of you know instead of eight trays we could make forty trays and she had backup racks so l. Forty were in the oven. We load up another forty trays and forty came out and forty went in. And we're like okay. Well this is this kind of makes more sense. What i'm trying to look at. What point running. This card did you. And mark say you know what actually the business we really should focus on is the pita chips and not the pita sandwiches so i think the coming about of that whole thing was the struggle of getting an inside location and you know come winter. It's really rough being out there in the cold and we started working with a realtor and the real turkana laughed at us. And said if you want a tiny little indoor location near where you are want to keep our following of people You and your food cart can stand online behind oban pan. Dunkin donuts at the time starbucks was coming into the world you know everybody wants little spaces and we realize we had to make a choice and we decided to go for the pita chips because in the winter i was working on on the pita chips and the bag and the design and the licensing and all that i needed to do in order to get that off the ground so with the pita chips we could get bigger faster. Yeah and i took a bag. We we ever had put them in almost like a coffee bag like with little window. Oh yeah plus a little plastic bag inside of the paper bag so a lot of labor went into it but you know what i took the bag and i. I walked into bread and circus in downtown boston. And i said hi. I'm stacey these are my chips. And i'd love to give them a try. We just walked into a bread and circus which eventually was was bought by whole foods. And you ask for the manager. Okay and what did the managers say. Wow he's good. Yeah i'd love to get him and now we have one store. There was like six or eight of these bread and circus stores and he showed them to corporate And there was nothing in them. They were all natural and it was the time of the beginning of the natural food revolution. And that just what we were innately doing. And obviously you guys presumably. You chose the name. Stacy's pita chips just because that's what it was called stacy's delight when you were food cart right. We chose it because we thought that a female name on snack food brand would sell more than a male name You know the woman in the kitchen kind of thing is to say that that's really. That was the thought behind. It was that it sounded better than than marks. Let's just pause from an and talk about money because even though you were getting some stores you know willing to pick up the chips and To sell them. I i can't imagine your business could could operate entirely on like the sale of pita chips. Have money to run this thing. Yeah i mean. We had a lot of debt between the two of us. We ran up our credit cards. We applied for. So i i was. I started working with the neighborhood development center and they helped me write a business plan. There was i really networked with everybody. I ca- possibly draw information from So there was a neighborhood center. there was I think jewish vocational services was in downtown. Boston and there was this one girl that used to eat at the cart. And she said to me How do you know if you have enough bread. And she asked what these weird questions and and one day. I said why. Are you asking me these weird questions. She said well. I teach a business plan boot camp. And i use your cart is an example all the time wow and i said really i'm like can i take that class. She's like you wanna take you come on over. And i went and i took an eight week business. Plan boot camp. So between all of these agencies that i kind of worked with because remember i didn't have a business degree. I didn't know what a business plan was. So after that eight weeks. I realized that i didn't just need twenty five thousand dollars for the packaging machine but i also needed twenty thousand dollars to buy bags. Yeah to run on the machine. And then i needed twenty thousand dollars for this thing. That people kept calling working capital so that was all new to me so i thought i only needed twenty five thousand dollars sixty. I needed sixty. Yeah how did you get sixty thousand dollars. So the neighborhood development center in jamaica plain helped me spruce up my business plan a little bit and put me in touch with a bank that they used that worked with the sba so we had to put down twenty percent of the sixteen thousand. And that's where our family kicked in you needed to put up twelve thousand bucks in collateral basically. Yeah and that was a sixty thousand dollar loan from a small business administration backed bank in boston. She got sixty thousand dollars. Which gave you. how much runway. How how long could you could you function of sixty thousand dollars because you're talking about needing to buy a machine to seal the bags to buy the bags and then you're not left with a whole lot. Sixty thousand dollars was not going to go very far because yes we bought the machine. We bought the bags but the one thing that we did have we had customers both the consumer and the retailers that loved our chips and kept reordering. And when i got that sixty thousand dollar loan within six months i went back and ask them for five hundred. Wow and they and they said here's sure here's five hundred thousand bucks. No no. they said no well. They didn't say no they said no not without equity and we were like equity equity what we've got nothing. Yeah this company software thing thing at this point so they said notify hundred and over a couple of months we were able to scale it back and they did say yes to three hundred and fifty. Wow so you got a three hundred and fifty thousand dollar loan from the bank. Yeah but how did you get the word out about the pita chips. I get it that you're you're pounding the pavement and you were asking for managers at at a local you know markets and asking to talk with them but how did people find out about. The chips was entirely word of mouth. And this pre internet pre social media pre. You didn't have ad dollars. We would go everywhere. We could to sample so we would go into the store and we would set up a table and we would just give away chips for free just like we did on the card. People would try them and they would buy them and that. Just that's how we built our customer base. We had three words sample sample sample. Did.

"Just to clarify that. It was basically a chicken. Caesar rolled in a piece of bread. Got there were very few options. But we made You know ours were you know had goat cheese we had turkey and vardi and we had more upscale choices. So we prepared. We sliced meat. We put everything in a giant cooler and then we went to downtown boston. We were literally roll. The car up the street and put it on the corner of johnson summer street and we get an ice delivery to the corner and throw the ice in the bottom and then we'd put out all of the ingredients and then we rolled up in the pita bread and then we had this big white piece of paper and we'd roll the sandwich in the white piece of paper and we twist the bottom so people were walking around. It was almost like they had this big white club and so it was really good. Because they'd walk away other people would ooh that looks good at that and what what was the name of the did you have an for the pushcart. Stacy's delights stacy's delights apostrophe lic fd l. i t. e. s. so it wasn't a delight delight that is so nineties. I love that. Yeah how do was it a hit did you guys get customer like lots of customers right away. Yes it was a hit but we were not the only food cart down there. You have to remember that up fifty yards away as the pretzel cart. And then there's the burrito guy and then there's you know so it was at a time when in the food cart world. I mean now. Food cart is more hip and trendy. And it's a food truck or inviting. It's more of a food truck but at the time a food cart had the connotation of Dirty and disgusting. Yeah but the way that the cart was designed in that was presented in that it looked. We had fresh tomatoes a mountain of them out front and it was. It broke the traditional mold of what is a food cart. Yeah yeah in every day. We ordered fresh bread. Where would you get the bread from the just a local bakery and it always over order the bread. Because you can run out of alfalfa sprouts. You can run out of tomatoes and it's not going to be a big deal but in this business if you run out of bread you're closed. Yeah so i think this is going so you. You've all this extra bread and you're thinking what do we do with this extra bread and we didn't want to use it the second day because it's not his pliable to roll the pita sandwiches shirt so when we got back to the kitchen we would cut them up and bake them into different flavor chips and the idea was a you would you would do. What with the pd chips you would give them away. You would sell them like what initially. What were you going to do with them. So initially it was just a way to retain our customer base and to keep people happy as they were waiting in line Because it was a long wait you had every pita sandwich order. Yes and people would. We hired a college student. She was a cashier but in between she'd go up and down with a basket of pita chips and just given for free to people standing in line while they waited and people loved it because it was kind of like a happy hour and we gave them away for free but people started saying that they did want to buy them so initially we would just put some in a little baggie with a gold ribbon and keep a basket of him out on the food cart as well and you could buy it for like fifty cents or a dollar something. Yeah bach but the sandwich and just just out of curiosity like did you guys. Experiment with the baking. 'cause i've because pita bread can burn pretty quickly and it could get right like i have to assume that you had to experiment with the right temperature and the right flavors and stuff like that. That came later initially. We just baked the cinnamon sugar in the parmesan garlic. Everybody thinks simply naked was our first flavor. It wasn't it was the Parmesan and the cinnamon sugar. We were baking them in a four rack oven. I mean literally for maybe eight trae. Sorry it's eight rack of and so we could spread out the pita chips on a tray and we could bake eight of them at a time. And you know you really. We were making toast. Yeah you were making thin slices of toast really good toast. And it wasn't until later as the company started growing that there was a huge jump between. I'm gonna make host in my oven and i'm going to manufacture keeping in mind marks deferring his loans and deferring his loans and that adds up. He's not at this point he's like full on in the food business and you are too. He's not using his phd in clinical psychology. It right you know. I got i was a clinical social worker. He's got his phd in psychology. And we're on a street corner selling sandwiches and so at that point you know we are all in. We are going to do something and we.

"From npr. How i built this a show about. Innovators entrepreneurs idealists and the stories behind the movements they built. I'm gyros on the show today. How stacey madison turn day-old pita bread into a new snack. Stacy's pita chips and then went on to sell her brand one of the world's biggest food companies for a quarter of a billion dollars so there are some startup stories. Were most of us are probably thinking. I couldn't do that like squarespace. If you heard that episode you'll remember that anthony tusla was and is a gifted computer programmer. He had a highly specialized skill. Same story with steve madden. He literally designed and then fashioned shoes from leather and sold them but then there are the stories where most of us can actually imagine doing that. Thing ourselves like brian. Scooter moore who bought an old truck and offered to holloway people's trash. That's how he started one eight hundred got junk or lisa price who tinkered with homemade lotions and our kitchen. She went on to sell her brand. Carol's daughter till laurie out. Well today story is the second variety. The kind of story that almost anyone can relate to because it is such a simple and elegant idea. You take pita bread in cut into wedges you bake it throw some parmesan or seasoning on it and voila. You've got stacy's pita chips now. Even though the snack food industry today is a sixty. Six billion dollar juggernaut. Stacey madison did not have a grand master plan to disrupt snack foods in the late. Nineteen ninety s at that time. She and her boyfriend were literally selling pita wraps sandwiches from a sandwich cart in downtown boston. The pita chips were an afterthought a way to use up those extra pitas at the end of the day. Peter chips were never supposed to make stacey wretch but eventually frito lay would come knocking with a fistful of dollars but long before that long before stacey even sold her first sandwich she was on an entirely different path. She grew up in the suburbs near boston after college. Stacey went to california to get a master's degree in social work. She thought about becoming a psychologist like her dad but he wasn't so enthusiastic about that he felt. I should always become a social worker rather than go on to get my mba psychologists. He was like oh. That's no profession for a woman. That's one thing that he said was smiling. Look pretty and you will find a husband you know. I don't wanna make him sound like a jerk. He was like a caring loving man that put his family first but he was also a product of the fifties. Sure so once you get your master's degree I read the you. You actually moved to washington dc to To to what to do social work. Yes i worked in a group home for homeless pregnant drug addicted women and i have to tell you i mean i loved. The job was very rewarding. But at the time i think i made twenty two thousand dollars a year and it was really paycheck to paycheck and very hard to survive on that kind of income so i decided to go and get licensed and be able to private practice. Which eventually i did go on to do. But i've found it very isolating. No now i've got to go. And i unlocked the door and and i do you know marriage counseling and then my evening is over. I've seen five or six patients. And i closed the door behind me and i go home and i put a lot of effort into getting those degrees and licenses and realize that ultimately it probably just was not for me to your your I guess roughly thirty years old at this time and by the way you were engaged to break right now that ended. I think it was just mutual. I think ultimately it was. Just not the right thing. I think we just both agreed we had had the place picked out. We were going to get married. And it was kind of a bizarre story. But i went and i had a massage. This i know sounds like i'm going off on a tangent here but it will come back. I went and i had a massage. And the woman told me to take off all my jewelry imbaba blah blah blah and. I took it off. I put it in the dish guy massage. And i got up and i went to get dressed and i was like oh my god. All my jewelry is gone including my ring might engagement ring and i was just you know it was from his family. It was like i was just so upset and the girl was gone. She had gone gone like never to return. I think she took off to florida or somewhere. She never came back to work. She just kinda took all my stuff. But with rick and i was kind of like ring wasn't replaced immediately even and i don't care about the ring even if it's just a cigar brand or something like that that it kinda took so long replacing the ring that it forced both of us to look at. Should we really be doing this. Maybe this was a sign or something and ultimately. Yeah we just decided. Maybe we shouldn't get married. So you guys split up a meantime there was this guy mark andrews who you had met through your brother a few years before he was a friend. Did you guys start dating or would you just kind of touch. So he was still a friend. And i talked to him. All the time about my disengagement and all of that he was super supportive and eventually our friendship led to dating and he was getting his phd so he was doing an internship in hawaii and said well. Why don't you come out to hawaii. And what did you do in hawaii. So hawaiian was.

Stacey Johnson-Cosby Teaches MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle How the Housing Market Works
"And she brought on Stephanie Johnson cars being I think to her shock. This landlord housing advocate. Black woman. Said things that must have just Caused her. Two or three brain tissues to really get all twisted up. Let's take a Listen Cut. Three you go. Well, that's all that Stacy There's $46 billion allocated for rental assistance once it gets through. I mean, you've got 26 states that haven't even given out 10% of their money yet. So that's the problem. What government should have done is stayed out of the housing business. They should have. Hold on. Now. Hold on now. She spilled as landlord housing Excuse me, housing advocate and a black woman. What government should have done is stay out of the housing business. How do you like that? She must be a white supremacist. And a capitalist pig. Go ahead on getting the rental assistance out into the marketplace. And there's not a problem that it goes into the hand of the landlords. Of course, it should. Because that is that is who the rent is due to Renter listen to the puppet lives in the property. Nothing is free. So of course, it's going to go to the housing providers so that we can, in turn, turn around and make our mortgage payments paid to maintain the property. The problem is that government when they shut the economy down, should have immediately made funds available to us to cover the rents of those tenets that they wanted covered. It is not our responsibility to shelter them, and we need to make sure we know that the implications are long term those tenants. When we extend the eviction moratorium, they need to realize that there Still on the hook for the money. That is, too and if they can't pay seven or $800 a month. Now there's no way at the end of the moratorium. There wouldn't be able to pay 89 or $10,000 government needs to focus and get all hands on deck today, figuring out how to more efficiently get the rental assistance out into the hands of those that need them and if they would have instead of its spending so much energy on their moratorium and extending that they need to do what they do best, which is getting that money out. Less now. Isn't that great? Because she understands the market

Isaac Sure, the state of Georgia filed a motion to dismiss the Department of Justice lawsuit aimed at its new, much malign The pattern Here is the outrageous rogue Nissen Villiger and illegality of the Department of Justice. "To ours in pretty exorbitant. Some people that we talked to say that the amber-light throws off more of carbon footprint. Is that something that you're dealing with. Or that is part of that light that came across in your research that interesting so i'm not sure if that's being referenced with regard to like a life cycle analysis of the manufacturing in Future user disposal of the lights Because as far as i know the high pressure sodium is so much more energy intensive than the than the led lights. Yeah that's that's a totally new concept to me. I'm not sure where that's coming from. When you first saw those white led lights go in and saw them on. What were you saying. I mean what was your first thought like holy cow. The turtles it was a pretty big shock ee. You have when you're talking again about safety. You do see bonuses to that you know. Police departments typically really appreciate the whiter lay because they like the fact that they're able to distinguish colors and to see things better And that people you know driving down the road may have more. But i think there's a lot of when it comes to pedestrians and vehicular Us i think as long as you're not going through too many changes in lighting so you're not looking at like high and low wavelengths that you're driving through is have to readjusted night i'm not sure that that it's too much worse to go to the colored but we we. We did the kind of both sides of the spectrum. People who really appreciated in people who didn't one group of people that did not appreciate it residents those any time. We were in a residential area. That wasn't strictly commercial. We had so many complaints when we went from high pressure sodium weight so they really appreciated they would say you know even with blackout curtains. They still feel like trigger window and it was keeping them up at night. So we went back to some of those neighborhoods along the beach in put those back to To amber lights noam complaint So when you drive at night now through that area you see fine as it. Is it hard to see. I know it's definitely not going to be the same as having those bright white lights but kind of tell us what it's like being a right now. We have nothing obviously going from nothing to amber. Light is going to be a huge difference. It's gonna help you at night but for is you know. It's a work in progress. So we have these Lights that were put in Prior to messing season in early april attributes can come out and just do field. We knew that they've worked on the model. But we really wanted up. Wbz's by by before we retrofitted you know tons of them up and down penelas county and so they were able to come out and approve them but were kind of on back order from getting the rest of the lakes and now so we picked a worse case scenario. Plays the right next to with nothing blocking it for this trial area. So right now when you're driving down the beach you're going from white. Led to this trial section to white led against. I think it's pretty disorienting. So right now. It's not looking great but Duke energy has promised to have the lights and by the end of august. So i think you know it's going to be a lot more coming on the is about it so you have eight in now when you have them all installed how long a stretch of the road is say about two miles or so and then we have another project coming up in the next couple of years to underground the rest of the electric speeds on the south end of treasure island ongoing boulevard That'll be about another mile or so. What is your advice to. The folks on fort myers beach about the light. Picking the right on in terms of the picking the right light if you're if you're stuck with your existing poll then you don't have a big project coming up where you're planning to replace those anyway. You know it is just about finding something that works. By in terms of what the the city officials in the residents can do is just you have to keep pushing These big energy companies their monopolies in their busy especially during storm season. There's a lot going on so You really just need advocates. That can stay on top of it and push finally howard. The turtles doing well. It's a little too early to tell. we do. Have some good nets already on our beach this year. But in order to really see any statistical exc significant as to. What's making a difference in what's not. You need to go through several nesting season to determine that so i don't want to speak prematurely but It does look much better from the beach..
Being Courageous in Your Meditative Practice With Stacy McClendon
"I think what i was hearing. You say yes it. It makes sense to get into meditation to take care of yourself. Be little less. Stressed develop the better angels of your own nature but as you go down this path the point is not just to be in your own. Little bliss bubble. The point is to be a more constructive actor in the world writ large. Yeah and that's sanga and we don't choose sanga. There's nothing that's excluded. I like to think of the sort of been terms of suburbs right. So some of your song guys going to be your first ring saga there. You're studying together. You're practicing together. And then there are folks who are further out. Maybe you have less engagement with but still we belong to one another and remembering that takes much more commitment and effort because we forget and then they become other. We begin ushering them. Well it's those people who live in those suburbs or that look a particular way and so a lot of what i am working to do. And i'm by to cultivating a courage cultivating courage to stay in our practice and allow us to be transformed right so again dropping out of the head and into the body and it's leaning into this faith this trust that what we're cultivating and our practice will yield a useful impact on others will be the fruit of what is needed in the moment for personal transformation for social transformation. Perhaps there's many virgos out there like me. You create a plan devised. The plan identified the key stakeholders you implement the plan and then you move on and so for me in that sense. Practice is a challenge. All of the time. It's been open

"You know, going back to the old ones I read. Amazing number one, Twenty-One which I've read before and sequence off and Target old ones. This one still holds up. I think it's still a good well written story and they did it so well they didn't you know it opens with you know well we're not going to reveal the title yet. Do you know the rebate you like and it's weird looking at it now because if you only know Spider-Man from like the even the 80s 90s 2000s the movies, it's it's always Mary Jane, you know, but before that, the first hundred twenty issues, it was Gwen Stacy, and and her dad died and but knew who Peter was and that was like Peter's like oh my God you know, maybe log. Can have a life and he's got Gwen, and then Goblin goes crazy. And it's not even that Goblin kills her. And it's not even a she dies because they're, it's just bought a physics and he did everything he could to save her and he still didn't have enough. That's what he kicked himself for the next three decades. Exactly that. You know, that's, that's well, that's me to put it. You'll find a way to kill him. That still tell her that left him with horrible guilt. You know what I mean? He was trying to save her, he thought he had saved her and then terminal velocity in terms of hitting, but in snapping off, and that looks like it was just going to say that, you know, that the writer was like, I'm going to
Hollywood Foreign Press Association to Vote on Reforms
"Thursday. The association that awards the Golden Globes is set to vote on reforms after more than 100, heavy hitting Hollywood publicist threatened to stop doing business with the group. Reforms would fundamentally change the way the Hollywood Foreign Press Association does business. It's a big question whether that's going to happen, and there's a lot of people waiting to see. It's not just the publicists and time's up in these advocacy groups. But NBC, which broadcasts The show and Dick Clark Productions, which produces the show that Stacy Permit a staff writer at the L. A times who detailed years of unethical and possibly illegal conduct in an investigation of the H F P A She spoke with us earlier today, and I asked her about some of the conduct in question. They ran the gamut from issues of sexism and racism and homophobia to that I convention is one publicist said that They had an actor, amateur actor and one of the members asked them. Do you still have sex at your age on brother situation and actor came out and they asked him if he was going to be filing for bankruptcy again. I mean, these are questions that are inappropriate in any form and certainly have nothing to do with the project that they're there to talk about him promote, but more important, and perhaps more more damaging. They described that the age of P a would snub clients. Those clients, particularly if they were people of color if the projects they represented were led by people of color or non a listers. So why is this this so significant? So first of all, in order to get a nomination, a Golden Globe nomination. You need to get in front of the H F P A. And that means one of their sanctions, screenings and press conferences. So if you're not going to get their attention, you're not going to get a nomination. And a nomination. It's become a huge marketing tool in the industry, which translates to attention for the projects that it translates to box office, which means money talent themselves. You know, with the nomination or wind on her hand, can use that you know when they're leveraging their next deal, so it's part of the Hollywood eco system.

What comes to mind when you hear the Word Vision Twenty Twenty? We made so much out of entering into a new decayed, and looking back over all the things accomplished over the last decayed before looking towards a new decayed. To say, the beginning of this new decayed has been interesting is to say the least I for one have looked at this year twenty twenty as a year that has given much pause to think. I was on a path and course that is completely different from where I am currently headed now just because we were all forced to stop and think. As we are midway through the seventh month and have already passed the year's mid Hump as a visionary. I had to evaluate re evaluate and ponder my plans, vision and goals moving forward into another season. I think in terms of seasons because I know seasons change, and with seasons come new possibilities in new opportunities currently. I am working towards just that new possibilities. New Opportunities are in the works, and if you've been following me for any period of time, you'll know there's always something in the corner to share I love taking each of you along on the journey to show you that the sky really is the limit and the possibilities are endless. Although the possibilities are endless, you must have a vision a plan in place and a way to see what it is you want before you take actionable steps to get fair. It begins with clarifying and getting to the heart of what it is. You really want and taking time each day to look at the path before you and see if the path you're on, will help you get there. If you keep your vision in the forefront of your mind, thoughts and plans. You are rioting out each day week month and year then you are taking the necessary first step to do your part. Next comes simple small steps. You can take to see that overall vision fulfilled. As a believer, I understand the power of believing, it will come to pass if I do not give up or grow weary. Let's explore the importance of encounters along on your vision journey. It's strange to think that just a few months ago, I was so busy over the holidays into the New Year answering the call to sing, speak and go from set to set with the excitement of networking with entertainment creators and film industry professionals all while building my online business and clientele base to have the complete freedom to wholeheartedly serve no matter where God decides. Take me on my family. Alaska. All that excitement would have to come to a pause due to the pandemic, and although I am looking forward to sharing more stories with you as you get to know some of my radio gifted sisters. I got to connect with an a deeper level as we worked some money. Filming Projects I recognize. That was only a small part of the big picture plan. God had for my life. Do you look at all the beaten path encounters as a waste of time or divine appointments for what God wants to bring about in your life. I do not believe it is a coincidence. You are listening to this podcast today, and if you are reading the blog, reading this particular blog today. This message is for you to consider. Mull over and ingrained in your heart. That God does not make mistakes while you will encounter stumbling blocks and distractions that can take you off the path. You need to be on for the season. You are in and the place you envision is for you in your future, it can all be used for your good as stepping stones towards greater. If you're like me. You can't help but think of the next big thing to conquer the next big step to take to get you closer to realizing dreams God has placed inside if you. Listen and recognize. There is only so much you can do and the rest you need to leave in the Lord's hands. So, what can you do today? Take out your notebook and begin to. What you want to see, come true over the course of the next year. And what steps you can take right now today to prepare for tomorrow. Begin with a plan..

To radian per leaving podcast where you will hear fearless stories to nurture your dreams and inspire you to leave a radian lifestyle. You love now. Here's your host Stacy's in. Hi and welcome to Raden. Pearl Living. So, what does it mean to be effective? Effective is defined as successful in producing a desired or intended result. I dare to say when we plan to accomplish something or work towards a goal, our desire is to be effective. We want a desired or intended result or else. Why would we be diligent in our effort? Here are three questions. We will explore today and answer one. How do you plan effectively to? How do you actually read of overwhelm three? Can you really conquer fear and make your dreams reality? So how do you plan effectively just last week? Week we address the topic of effective planning in great detail through twelve simple steps that make you sensational so this week. I want to bring your attention to how you can create an effect. You desire through your planning. Do you believe you're being effective in your planning? Presently and that you are successful in producing a desired or intended result after your mind is conceived something you hope to achieve, it has always been a philosophy of mine that the mind can conceive it. You can achieve it. It however I take it a step further as a believer that Christ as my guide, there is nothing I can't accomplish because with God, all things are possible mark ten verse twenty seven Jesus said Unto Him without can believe all things are possible to him that believe at Mark Nine Verse Twenty three, actively planning combined with faith yields the results to great possibility. There are a number of things I'm believing God for for example to have a family business that leaves a lasting impact on the. The global community and eternal soul, the action I take towards not losing. Hope is to plan towards the very thing I hope to accomplish as the scripture further tells us. Faith without works is dead. You want the very thing you're working towards to be filled with life and life more abundantly, so as you envision the amazing things you would like to see come forth in your life. It may get overwhelming just thinking about how you're going to make it all happen, but take a deep breath. It's not up to you and you alone to make it happen. Remember in the last episode when I spoke about the importance of collaboration and surrounding yourself with the right people and community as you build relationships well. The most important relationship you'll find in receiving the desires of your heart is the vertical relationship. Personally I found that the times. I've experienced. The most anxiety and stress was when I did not have Christ at the forefront of the equation. So how do you actually get read off overwhelm? The role or faith plays in planning for the future is reassuring when we know, we are not in this fight for an abundant life on our own. There is someone who holds the world and my life, your life in the safe and loving palm of his hands, if I simply trust in this fat than the plans i. And the steps I take towards realizing those dreams of mine will ultimately come to pass when the time is right and I'm ready to walk into the door. That is now before me. In episode to discuss the importance of preparation, and now you and I are fully aware anticipate that there will be pain in the process. However it is that very disappointment that you may have experienced in her life or denied dream you may be experiencing the present that will propel you and I towards the most radiant destiny, and want you to take full advantage of the time you have right. Right now while you're waiting to get there to that, glorious plays of actualize dreams. You're working so hard to get to right now. With a simple plan, you can get there. Can you really conquer fear and make your dreams a reality I'm always amazed by how many people walk and fair and don't dare to do the things they've been meaning to because they come up with excuses after excuses. Don't be like Jane or John who misses out on the abundance that can be there's. Because Fair will just keep you from planning. Let's not allow it to keep us from planning pursuing and pushing forward toward the goal. The goal that you have in mind right now and beyond like you I am not a stranger to the excuse I. Don't feel qualified enough. Enough pretty enough polished enough disciplined enough enough enough already there is nothing the mind can conceive that you can't achieve. Get to planning, Conquer Fair today and make your dreams a reality by simply starting with a plan. To many of us are walking around in fear with inside. Not Stop it the leave. That was just not something that was embraced heartily and readily and I'm a very embracing person and eventually over over time you know. She came to accept that. That's the type of people and parents we would be so. I'm glad you brought Babe and love what you said earlier earlier because I believe understanding how to approach prioritizing your spouse has to do with understanding your your spouse on standing what language they speak and speaking that language and meeting them where they're at because we have different perspectives perspectives. As men and women. Maybe it is that you've chosen to spend more time doing ministry staff or chosen to spend more time the homeboy if you are someone that loves all the sports in instead of spending what little time that you know you may have aside from time given to work you. You have that time to choose what you're going to dedicate that span of time too so if you choose to dedicate that time to someone else are something else other than your wife or your husband. It's sending a message is definitely sending a message that spouses not as valuable. And so. That's something that you come to realize over time with maturity. I may not be excited about football or excited about some of the changes. Chains that naturally as a girly girl. I wouldn't be excited about which is because I remember especially in different times of our marriage where you you would say that. Where was I a flow as away doing my craft sore my Bible journaling or whatever else and the fact that I was home the entire time while you were home but we weren't in the same room it seemed as though I didn't value that period of time when we could have been together even though you you would be doing something else like watching a football game in so I realized just the idea the concept offs being together in the same space and me in a way just wanting and desiring to be being together which is something that everyone values especially when they're not living together are they not yet married? They want to soak up every moment that they can't together because they don't live together and so once you get married in your living together gather what changes you should still is ir and crave all your spouse without some things that clearly clearly change when you go from not living together to living together moon clearly. There's something change you know. You smell each other when you go to the bathroom smelly Shirley no so. There's a lot of changes changes go from living the other two not living the other obviously pretty big change. Do you know the water jerked all over shower in all over the floor and all that kind of stuff you know obviously your date and you put your best foot forward when you get married it gets Israel you know you start to see who that other person really is so you know your day. Obviously you're you're trying to win the person you know so you're your a game on but once you get married it's it's easy to to relax and just kind of not more complacent as the guy down here. They're not going anywhere so sometimes you know it is easier to prioritize the things over your spouse so nothing nothing. It's kind of natural that when you spend all of your waking hours you know with one person that while at the end of the day I'm GonNa go the home to that person so yeah I WANNA go hang out with my homeboys because at the end of the night. I'm going home to that person who is going to be see there every night for the rest of my life. Oh yeah there's some of that goes into but at the same time it's a balancing act certainly a think within within the scope of marriage you have to understand that each person is individual. Each Person Is Different H.. How different responsibilities they have different interests but you? You both have made the decision to come together. And to fuse those differences in individualities into a common goal into the common pursuit and ultimately the individual things are not as important as the common pursuit is because if the individual things remain the the focus than the common pursuit will never be accomplished and as we continue the journey boards common pursued. If those individual goals remain rain at the forefront then will never achieve anything common because each of US although we were married and were doing our Thing or whatever you know how the young kids say what we do as we continue to work. If that commerce pursued is not hasn't become a truly Julia common pursuit then we're really just working on similar tracks but never really coming together for a couple in a relationship to surely be insane as the years. Go by being human. You want to feel as though as time goes on that we've been able to accomplish greater the things you do become almost like a hamster on a wheel if you realize that you're fighting the same battle than going further along in division the You've put in such a wonderful way to envision. How as a couple and as a unit as one that you are heading towards building your family or accomplishing specific goals freshly in an individualistic society? That we live in in one of the things as you mentioned. Earlier that it is so much easier to get fulfillment and void that you may be feeling as a result in your spouse is not taking the time to prioritize you in the way that you think or desire to be higher ties and that is going to take communication on both parts because men and women see things differently as we go playing fiend for ourselves over the years through the book that we read in just having discussions with other couples then in the ministry to realizing that really do wear the blue sunglasses and women wear the pink lines in you know we see things through different lenses in have different perspectives. But we do have to lease makes the difference having a common ground. You have the same faith. And that is the foundation for which you're able to build from where able to come together and see eye to eye and work towards a common goal and purpose switch at the end of the day for us as believers is that Great Commission Spreading The Gospel Wherever Week down in whatever we do do you know all. I'm really grateful that we were able to have this conversation. And we definitely want to dig a deeper and hear from you all as listener is we want to hear on a scale off one to ten. How important is it for you or for for your spouse or the personal relationship with fi like a priority before we go? I want to share some final call to actions. I wanted to feature my beloved on this episode because I have come to see firsthand how important it is to have your spouse. No they are. We are a priority and having that spouse involved in your passion projects if at all possible is such a beautiful thing our good friend and minstrel stroll in the body is the composer in creator of this beautiful song. It's so great. Hearing other women's stories on how they're living radiant lifestyle very insightful. Oh episodes thus far thank you so much free array for that beautiful review and we do look forward to sharing more reviews live here at. RPI Live live radiant Pearl living podcast. It's crazy to think it was just last night. I asked my hobby what he thought of coming on the podcast to do an episode with me and guess what guys he's here immediately. I started brainstorming. What we could speak about and trust me? There is so much we could talk about being married nine going on ten in years. Finally I think we're at a season where we sell them a few things and see eye to eye in some areas we choose our battles of chosen goes into love each other through the good and the bad so my first question that came to mind to axe my hobby and formerly known as Josh Zandt is on a scale of one to ten how important it is at for your spouse to feel like a priority. In a moment. We'll discuss why in ways that thirty light to elaborate further for guests listening. Okay all right so the Krisztian that was being asked is on a scale of one to ten. How important is it for your spouse to feel like like a priority so today you're saying ten last night when I first brought this question to you said eleven it definitely has become more of a priority to recognize this particular question being a important important vital part off a strong and growing and firm relationship because you start to realize spout when you've devoted yourself and you decided to marry and spend the rest of real life with someone you want them to be a partner in life? You know taking not only the the good the bad but also as you develop relationships with other people Paul and children come into the picture if you choose to have children or are you know we have people who we serve on your involved in ministry and so you have to prioritize in shoes. Between whether you're willing to in dedicate your time or prioritize your spouse over all the other commitments in life whether it's work church or other things other family members ars and so I think it is a very good into consider and to definitely discuss further are for your wife to place a priority. What does that look like? What does that moon for life as a priority will? It'd be fair to be honest. You know the way. The question was posed. Wasn't specifically husband has been to wife and was just spouse and me. I don't think it would be right to say. Oh well is house Michigan prioritized wife more or the wife should prize aboard ties. The husband more. I think it's a matter of each person. Valuing the other person more than they value themselves. You know that's the commitment. The cries made the church in the example that we should be following. Yeah he gave himself for the Church and as spouses. We should value each other enough to be able to give our all to make sure that the other person is taking care of in whatever aspect were speaking to be spiritually emotionally physically mentally whatever aspect you're referring to so you know you ask. How do you prioritize the other spouse and obviously the commitment that you made to your your? How's your wife was the commitment that you made to honor to cherish into respect and you know a lot of times we get into gender roles as to what honor Erin respected and we understand? There's a difference between men and women that were careening differently. We have different needs but at the same time. The crux of what we need is the same. If I don't value my wife and demonstrate my value to my wife the how I value are and obviously she's it's not feel important in if she doesn't feel important she's GonNa go look for validate Looks for someone else or something else to to give her the validation that I haven't provided and it's excitement you know has been doesn't feel validated and respected. He's GonNa go somewhere where he feels validated in respected. So that's why I feel like it's important to prioritize that because in the world we live in. It's so easy to find validation other places this and if we don't give our our spouse you know what they really need or what they're truly desiring. That's how marriages fall. Apart in relationships sham expectation. I know you are a little reluctant in coming on here on my podcast. But you've played such a pivotal role in supporting in other ways that sometimes people don't see I just thought it was the natural next step to.
