"Abide by their price increases, they'll switch to something else or they'll switch to a competitor. Then that forces them not to raise prices and that that's the mechanism that causes inflation. I feel like it's economics one O one, right? We talk about these dynamics, especially when it comes to pricing. I love your story. You give us some inside as to who bullard is. And you talk about how he has earned a reputation as something of a maverick. What is it about his background, his studies that maybe makes him think a little bit differently? Well, he grew up in Minnesota. He's, you know, you have so many of the fed leaders including some of their super respected MIT or Harvard. I've been Ben Bernanke. And so forth. But bullard grew up in Minnesota in a small town. He played basketball, and he was interested in the 70s and what he was seeing with inflation and he recalled how he went to college at St. Cloud state university, and there was a poster on the wall, explaining all the causes of inflation and like one theory was it was labor unions and another was it was government spending and there were one or two others. And the one theory that was not up there was the fed causes inflation. And that was kind of become conventional wisdom after a Volcker finally raised rates and enslaving dragon as he put it. Hey, Steve, before we let you go again, it just a great profile encourage everybody to read it. What can you offer from your profile to investors right now, trying to make sense of the fed's path moving forward? What did bullard say about that? What bullard said is that, you know, I was kind of pressing him on what would cause you to pivot what would cause you to change your tune and he said basically right now it's too early to be even thinking about that. You have a two sided mandate on the one hand inflation is 8% on the other hand, unemployment is at 3.5%. Their mandate is full employment and price stability. So it's like there's really no argument right now. Until that dynamic changes, you're not going to see the fed change. And people stop talking about pivot. Come on. Just kidding, just kidding. "Right, well, you know, one of the grade one winners in the coolmore turf mile is order of Australia, who is going to be ridden by jockey kree stop sumiya. Recently banned 60 days for elbowing jockey rosa Ryan off his mount during a race last week at St. Cloud in France. So the question I have for you guys and Dale will come to you first, allowing sum to ride in the United States is right or wrong. What do you think? Sorry, Nick, I stepped on you. 100% wrong. Yeah. This guy should be in jail. Not suspended, not riding a race of king one. When you do something that dangerous and that reaches, you should be in jail. In my opinion, this is too tough a sport too dangerous with support for something like that to happen. You can have, you can be mad at it. You can dislike somebody in the jocks room, but once you're on the racetrack, there should be a camaraderie to keep each other safe. Safety first wins second, it's ridiculous what he did. And I thought they were sway soft on him with two months, man. I wouldn't surprise me if they thought he'd never come back. Well, you know, everyone's got to have their right, right? This suspension doesn't kick in until Friday next Friday. So he's well within his rights to still be riding up until then. I think if, you know, obviously I don't think he'd be riding if this race was next Friday. I agree with Dale that what he did was just ridiculous and he and dangerous and what he did. I mean, he could have killed him. I mean, he admitted that he pushed him off the horse. I mean, there's no place for that in the sport. But, you know, if you go

"Not sure how easy that is to do if you're a wine taster, probably not too easy. And some people just don't feel like it. Let's face it, a lot of people have jobs. In fact, I would say the majority that they tolerate, it's a living. But they're not thrilled with it. That's the real world. Jared and lacrosse Wisconsin joins us to talk with Carl Gould of 7 stage advisers dot com. Good evening, Jared. How are you doing tonight? We're fine, thank you. So on a different note, if you were wanting to have a patio down at your home, and you want to afford to work week for everybody's, how would you go about getting to the meeting that 9 a.m. on Tuesday, being done on Friday and coming back next Tuesday to figure out if we're going to get everything done. Well, if you're putting in patios, my guess is you don't have a lot of 9 o'clock meetings, but I'll defer to Carl. Well, what we've done in the past, it's a great question. What we've done in the past is we've had overlapping team meetings. And so if you go to this four day concept and you have two crews, if you will, if you will, like the Monday to Thursday and then the Tuesday through Friday or the Wednesday through Saturday. You pick a day where the teams are together, or you pick a couple of hours where the teams overlap. And not only can you talk about things there and you can plan out how the handoffs happen. That's one way. The other way you could do it is most companies have now have some technology platform. Whether it's WhatsApp or slack or Microsoft Teams or Google chat where you can post updates. And so like we all do right before we're beginning our work week, we might check in and see what's going, what's doing for the next day or checking in that morning beforehand. So now more than ever, we have technology that can help us stay connected as much as we want or as little as we want so that these handoffs can be a lot more seamless. And so yes, there was a day where it was really hard. You know, you had to be face to face. But that's not the case anymore. Yeah. And that's a good thing. Depending, of course, on what your job is. John and St. Cloud, Minnesota. Hello. Hi. I have two things. Henry Ford went to the 8 hour day 5 day week because his crews were working themselves sick and he had to retrain a new crew three or four times a year. Secondly, by the way, the 40 hour week was a masonic idea. Now, the 5 day workweek started in a New England. Fabric mill, I don't know whether it was in our wool. Where there was a mixed crew of Christians and Jews and the owner wanted everybody to be able to worship on their Sabbath. Okay, I must confess I had heard Carl's version of that more often than yours, but anyway, Carl, go ahead. Well, in either case, that's great. I appreciate the history lesson. And so let's take what we just heard and what you heard was there's overlapping dates. The Sabbath is a Saturday for some and the Sabbath is a Sunday for others. And so depending on the type of business you have and the type of work that you do, the overlapping and the rotating shifts, if you will, I mean, firemen have been doing it for years. Two days on three days off. One day on one day off. And so you can look at the nature of the work. You can say, I'd like to I'd like to set my two shifts in this manner. So that everybody is able to observe whatever is culturally acceptable or culturally necessary for that business. And so yes, the more diverse your workforce is, both gender and religion and aids, the more the more you're going to have to be flexible in how you set this up for sure, there's no question about it. But if the crew wants it enough, you'll figure out a way to make it work. And I've seen I've seen a lot of variations for this, but if they want a badly enough, I mean, it's got so many benefits to it. It's not perfect, but it's got so many benefits to it that with a little ingenuity, I think you can clearly make it work. More

"Which is a little scary because it's going to be a shirt I haven't run in. So I'm kind of hoping it's cool enough that I can wear a long sleeve like a turtleneck or something underneath this scratchy cool shirt she's figuring out. Well, you did return to Boston and two subsequent years with much faster times. What was it like to see the race more for women in those ensuing years? Oh yeah, that was fun. Well, one fun fact from the very next year, 1973, is that I went back to my hometown of, well, where we were living at the time, St. Cloud Minnesota. And I talked to friends in the coming back with me in 73. The three of us represented 20% of the women's field that I worked. Because we had grown from 8 people to 15 people. Yeah, but I'm telling you, I'm looking at your finish times, you cut off a full, almost 50 or 40 minutes, excuse me, in 73, but then the next year you cut an additional, oh my gosh, like over 40 minutes. So I started thinking that just happened every time you ran a marathon, you'd get that much better. That's not true, because 74 was my peek. And I just didn't know it. Oh, yeah. Yeah, she ran at three O 9. Four 29. That is unreal. So did you just do some different training? Did you just do more mileage and longer mileage? After 72, I really, I liked marathoning, and I knew that I could do better because I hadn't done a lot of training for that race. So I did more consistent and I kept building my mileage. And then after 74, when I got that three O 9, I thought, boy, I'm close to going under three. I think I can do it. And so from 74 to 77, I really, I really trained hard..

"Kissimmee, then ten years later, we could not do that because the last ten miles into Kissimmee to the rodeo grounds and Kissimmee was all neighborhoods was built up. Apartments and that sort of thing. So we reversed it and we started a little south of St. Cloud and went went south. We did that twice and then now we're going to move east and with the new route and. So it's going to be just is the route continuous or do you have to occasionally take all the cattle and put them in a truck and move them to the next spot or are you able to keep them on the ground the whole way? Oh no, we just, in this instance, we're going to drive 90 miles or so. And we only need to local law enforcement to stop traffic on one 92 one time. That's it. The rest of the day on historic ranches. Wow. And so when you're going 90 miles, is this I might have missed this, but is this all in one day? Do you have to do camp out with a cattle? I'm not sure that everybody's about ten miles a day. The first in 1995, we had thousand headed cattle. We had about 40 head of the guys that were Cal hunters. They were to take care of the cattle. And then we had 600 riders, both in wagons and on horseback they were divided up into geographical groups. We called them wagon circles. So Reagan circle number one was pretty much all of the people from out of state and out of the country. We had people from all around the world in north Florida. And then region two was Gainesville Ocala and we had 6, 6 wagon circles and each, each day a different wagon surgery got to come forward and drive the cattle. So everybody that went, they wanted to actually got to go forward and help them drive themselves a thousand head of cattle. This year, this year, we're going to try to double that. We're going to try to let each group come forward and drive cattle twice during the draft. But it's you're allowed to bring 60 pounds of stuff and we will carry it from this camp to the next camp and that's all you get. There's no campers. There's no trailers. There's no trucks. There's just we're making it as primitive as we possibly can..

"Can we go over one. Last thing i think that is some of the different side benefits of the different social media platforms. That may be out there. And what i'll just. I'll lead this off and then i kinda want you to here which way i'm going to see if you can add into this because this is a little bit more of a convoluted question. Now if you. I believe that if you're a local company your best bet is to begin on facebook because you're going to be able to set up that gio fats. You're going to be able to put some pictures and some videos up on on facebook. I think that that's your best bang for your buck so to speak. Even though it doesn't cost anything we're talking about. Your time is money and money as time so your valuable time should be spent there. I think you're next. Bang for your buck. Should then go hasley youtube simply because youtube is the only searchable social media platform meaning. Whatever you invest in time on that platform can pay you. Dividends next year the following year the year after year after so if you are the best retaining wall expert in st cloud minnesota you type in the best patio installation in st cloud. Minnesota and your youtube will eventually take all of those words in your title and relate that with your business and put you in front of that audience in guys. I've said this before. Youtube is owned by google google youtube. Google doesn't like Mark zuckerberg on facebook at all because they compete especially now because facebook and youtube. Don't they don't play nicely. So google won't promote anything that you have on instagram. You'll never see instagram video. Pop up you'll never see instagram. Anything pop up on a search engine simply. Because if you're using google nobody it's not going to be promoted. An furthermore it's just not searchable content less using the appropriate hashtags. and then. If you actually start to look at instagram is great. Just to kind of get people familiar with your business if you're lucky enough for him to land on log enough but if you're thinking that your hashtags are going to become your searchable content. I don't i believe there's nothing further from the truth because of the old school days. If you hashtag construction you had a million hash tapes for construction. This is the old is when instagram. i locked. now it's gotta be about fifty million so if you take construction. You are one of fifty million post on that platform. Do you really think you're going to show what no you're not so if you are a small business it's great to have a presence on those platforms but those platforms may not actually be the conversion. You need a longer format video to get the actual information all because if you're doing something like window washing dry cleaning carpet cleaning or anything you want. Show the process. You wanna show. What makes you different. You wanna make that connection and guys have this misnomer that you've got to keep your videos between two and three minutes in if somebody's interested in a topic they're going to be engaged in that topic for over ten minutes closer to twenty minutes in the actual sweet spot i liked for youtube is around fifteen minutes right and you can imagine keeping. Somebody's attention engage for that long. Really it's easy to do. Put yourself in that position. Where if you wanted to know how to change the starter on a sixty nine shelby. A car you're going to watch that thing for thirty minutes if the guys talking about right tape that's leaning media man and it..

"Of you in depositions. You are in today. Yeah absolutely you know. We actually have been saying founded in one thousand nine hundred eighty four. We've been saying that for decades and it wasn't until during the pandemic that our aunt did some digging and found out that actually it went back to more generations when our great great great grandfather. Ed wynn started a real estate and mortgage loan company in st cloud minnesota and then his son took over and then his son moved to mankato and just opened up a new one. So really we've been operating fairly continuously for six generations since eighteen sixty seven. And you know. I always say when you're when you're an would get your birth certificate and your your real estate license on the same. You know we were kind of born into it. Both michael and i did different things in college and a little bit of career but we just felt the poll right back into it and michael from generation to generation is there a default communication style that your is known for you know i think that we we just try to talk to people like their people And there's a lot of really really great business leaders out there who good methods and systems on being concise and being direct and being professional all of the time and not to say that's bad or whatever works for individual is fine but i think we've found Since we started with such a tight group in a family oriented group as we grew it was kinda like speaking to whoever you're speaking with as they're your family as their your brother or your parents and a lot of times they are your brother or your godparents or we're at your baptism or or anything like that. I think that's really helped shape the way that we communicate with each other because there's that underlying element of respect and love and familial status that we all kind of feel like you know what even though we might not get along sometimes. Were basically blood. Now matt you to our brothers and dynamic you had growing up. Is that the way you are in business at this point. Kind of i mean michael and i are the furthest apart. I'm the oldest. He's the youngest. So you know it wasn't like direct competition but but the you know one thing everybody always tells us watched us grow up. Was you boys. There's four of us. You boys could fight so hard and then the next second. You're all hugging each other and cuddling up on the couch. And and i think you know it kind of comes back to respect michael and i really have a deep respect for each other both personally and but we also will kind of take sides even if even if we don't believe the opposite side were just like debating each other just so that we can find the right thing and then i'll go. I mean i don't know what else to say michael. I think we should do it. And he'll go. yeah. I think we should too. I just wanted to argue it out for a little while. It's good as the practice. Yeah it's the practice round before you know actually making the decision or presenting it to other leadership staff or to the agents to be like well you know matt comes up with a great idea and and i'm just going to say yes. That's a great idea. I'm going to say well. What about or have you considered or any any other roadblocks right. We love to play. Devil's advocate in these arguments for each other because it forces us to really. I don't know think about the big picture and all of the different avenues. These things could go down. Oh yeah and nobody can do that with you. Like a sibling right assembling shoveling pushback. In a way that nobody else in the world knows how to push back on and matthew. Are there any lessons that you carry from your family that influence how your today anything specifically when you think about you know what this outweigh the biggest thing that i think stuck with. Michael and i was Our dad was a man of not many words but they were always really great words and and one time he he told us when. You're the head of your family when you're when you're the head of your house you're responsible for that family when you're the head of a company you're responsible for everyone's family and and to his point he wasn't saying you're responsible for your employees. You're responsible for your realtors. You're responsible for contractors. Whatever but you're actually responsible for their families because they all rely on this. It's a huge responsibility and also a huge honor. You know both of those things going back to that family oriented. You know office culture and everything like that. It's it's been good for us to say like you know. We know our employees spouses significant others. Children they bring them into the office all the time and they don't know especially when the pants came all these people are you know having fear are they're gonna be layoffs. How how are we going to do this or enough work. We can't welcome people into the office but my job is literally to be at the front desk and welcome people. What does that look like for me and my family and i it was just a really good opportunity to challenge us in that belief that we haven't say well you know michael matthew if you really believe that. Here's the hugh put your you know. Put your money where your mouth this and and so we had the whole endemic situation and still held to that kind of vow to say well. We're not going to let people go. We owe you know that same respect and loyalty to our employees and their families that they continue to show us every day that they show up. So i don't know. I think that was just a really unique opportunity where we could say. Gosh even if there is no one here for you to welcome the echo. Food shelf really needs help. I could see it being literally anywhere in that range. As a kid, I saw the trailers all the time. I mean, I mean, because sack up front, it was that light post High School Musical. This is like the second week in a row we've talked about Zach. I've brought in the first half. Zac Efron is on that like I mean, post High School Musical kick. I saw that trailer all the time. All right, third film finish at the game..
