"Abuse covers so many things. That's my question is typically someone they know and not that it can't happen from strangers But it's usually going to be someone that they know and again it think we're gonna see is that it's going to be more medication related. Depending on what medications the older adult may be so medication may be stolen from them. were Financial is usually what we're gonna see a lot of so someone taking advantage of them which is just like but that sounds that sounds so like vanilla right others taking advantage of its abuse. It is abuse right now and so again we go back to being a good neighbor. Listening for those cues The meals on wheels and housework volunteers and folks who work with you all every all of us listening for those red flags seeing those red flags and then reporting it to you. Said there is a An adult It's almost like adopt at of services. Yes exactly what. It is adult protective services so we can make those phone calls. We can report Year meant to reporters. So there's just being involved in being a good neighbor and looking for those red flags. I guess it sounds so simple and in it is. It can't be a struggle because a lot of times. I don't want to get involved and they need to. You know just as you want to be involved with children. You're not going to let a child typically well. We would hope that we don't have children suffering at the hands of of abusers but it's the same i mean this is a vulnerable population and we need to definitely watch out and take care of them. "Line a really want to go back and revisit this idea of the woman as the weaker vessel. We see this in genesis. Very clearly. That it's actually. I believe it's actually be calls of the woman's strength emotionally spiritually and otherwise that god has placed her under the man. She needs that humility. And you and i know very well that there's nothing more humbling than following someone that we believe to be leading us in the wrong direction. It takes great humility now. I'm not saying that mary. And joseph had that going on at all clearly because of his purity and chastity and his gift for dreams joseph new and did what he was called to do and mary then probably found it somewhat easy to follow that and of course the the roles in these ancient cultures and in those ancient times were far different. A woman did not dare to do some of the things that we do. And i'm not saying that that. Well i won't even get into that my point though. Is that when we're called the weaker vessel. You have to understand that that's physical. We don't have the same physiology as a man. We are not able to protect ourselves in the same way that a man can protect us when we're in a situation of clear present physical danger. That's obvious to anyone who has an eyeball but what's not so obvious sometimes is that that's part of why this strength of the woman. Emotionally and spiritually is part of why she needs that covering that protection over her. In the way of a spiritual everyone needs spiritual authority. Everyone the whole church. Every family needs proper hierarchy of authority and so for us women. Our husbands are that authority under christ. And it's very clear in the bible that if we're not a submitting to in obeying our husbands then we're not submitting to in obeying christ. Now that's an ugly ugly word. But i'm really big on this because this has been my whole formation for for my whole life you know. I had such a horrible experience with authority in my family under my father. I just determined. That wasn't ever going to let somebody do that to me again. And i'm not talking about about erasing proper boundaries and. I'm not saying that we should go along with everything that our husbands say do. I'm not saying that there is a way to disagree. But when he's made the final decision he's made the final decision and that is when it's time for us to get behind him and submit to him as as to christ. The bible is very clear all matt and so that hierarchy then is a protection. It's a protection for us. Our families and our children and our marriages and so it's important that we operate in it properly and a lot in in spiritual a lot of the issues that i see. Come from this very issue. We've gotten completely out from under the proper authority and were fighting in the flesh over things that are not really the issue. We see things with our flesh. Lee is and we attack them not realizing that the whole time. We're fighting against the very thing we want. But it comes through humility and submission we women because of our spiritual influence and this is why john paul the second said that humanity was given to woman and i posted a quote a women of of grace on the facebook page where it talks about how. It's our role to do that restoration and we see that in mary. It was mary's role to begin the restoration of the entire earth. And she did. So how did she do it. She did so by. Submitting to joseph and that is why then he is called the terror of demons that purity and chastity that holiness that transparency that single focus that joseph had to always do god's will is what made he makes him so powerful and so authoritative both in that domestic church of the holy family but then also by extension in christ over the whole church as the prince of over all of god's possessions so joseph the just then was a lover of law. He was a lover of the jewish nation and of the jewish faith. This is national and religious. That's part of why bishop fulton sheen always said that. Patriotism is godly now. Of course it can get out of hand and it can also get out from under the proper authorities well but patriotism is biblical. Joseph himself was a lover of law. That's why he's called. Joseph the just he was a lover of law. He was a lover of the jewish nation and of the jewish faith and so that that judaism was both national and religious. So joseph terror of demons the new abraham and the priest of the holy family. He occupies that role and he can. He can sort of be a stand in for us. When we don't have good earthly models in those roles namely our husbands our priests our fathers And in a lesser way. Our sons because we have have the responsibility to help train them in their own manhood and their own fatherhood in in in those ways that god has called them to these roles as well then we have joseph the prophet which seems like an oxymoron. Because he was silent there is snow recorded speaking of saint joseph in the gospels at all and yet as i mentioned in the video on catholic nam the church fathers. See that dreaming. That saint joseph Experienced that prophetic dreaming as prayer through his arrest and even his work. that sleeping. joseph is still praying is sort of how they they saw it. And so aura at lavoro which i think is the motto of the benedict teens prayer and work and so joseph then was occupied in these roles occupied in contemplation occupied in prayer even while he slept and so his interior life is very rich. It's very contempt of. It's very silent. And in that way we see his humility because he wanted to put mary away quietly. We see that he had a measured response. When he found out that she was pregnant. He deliberated he prayed. He sought god's will in what to do and got answered him through those dreams. And so joseph is the first door. Mary was the first monstrance and jesus was in his home and so he would have adored christ in mary. First and then in their home which was in bethlehem called the house of bread and hebrew and the house of flesh in arabic so bethlehem. Then we see that. Tie to the eucharist again. And so j saint. Joseph is called the greatest marian saint he lived with her. He knew her better than anyone. Assad from probably jesus himself and so he's also a great saint of mercy. Jesus said if you've done it for the least of these you have done it for me. And of course. Joseph did do it for him physically literally him and mary everything. Joseph did as provider and protector. And all of those roles.

"Saint joseph's purity so chastity and purity then and we see this also in the sermon on the mount when jesus speaks of the pure in heart shall see but we don't always kind of put together. Is that this purity. And this chastity is the essence of the power and the authority that we have as christian people when we think of purity and chastity typically we think in sexual terms and that was true of saint joseph but the deeper reality is that spiritual purity and that spiritual chastity and when we look at the sermon on the mount. What we see there is that purity although it is a matter of keeping oneself physically pure what it really speaks to is a single focus and so purity. We've spoken on this quite a bit and we. We talked about it a lot when we looked at the beatitudes. But this purity idea in the scriptures is not primarily physical it is spiritual and so purity and chastity are almost interchangeable terms for holiness and that holiness then is transparency. it's where we don't prevaricate. were not fake Jesus actually he cursed the fig tree when he was coming into jerusalem. Remember that story. That parable where jesus was. He passed by into jerusalem. Saw fig tree there that he he looked at it to see if those was fruit on it and there was no fruit on and he cursed it. That story is in matthew chapter eleven. And in a couple of parallel passages in other gospels. But what we see there. Is that the fig tree is symbolic of the whole of the people of israel. And as jesus passed by he was looking for fruit. He's looking for fruit on the trees of our lives as people of god and what he saw was that there wasn't a fruit and that's why he cursed it and that's actually a prelude to the destruction of the temple that would occur in seventy ad after jesus's passion and death and resurrection and ascension. But the idea here is there was no purity. There was no chastity. there was no holiness. There was no transparency in the people of god as a whole now. This is a generalization because there was a remnant and that remnant included the apostles whom jesus called in all of those disciples that followed him and all of those people who came out of the the twelve the new twelve tribes through the apostles and so it was a remnant but as a whole the people had they didn't accept jesus as their messiah and they still don't. There will come a time when that happens. But until then that fig tree was cursed he cursed that victory now the principle for us is there was no fruit. It was supposed to have fruit. It should have had fruit. And it's the the principle for us is when when god inspects us for fruit. Do we look all showy with nice pretty summer leaves. You know we've got. We have the the structure is there and the outward appearances there. there should be fruit but there isn't and so the warning there is. We need to take a look at our purity chastity and our holiness and saint. Joseph can help us with that as the terror of demons he protects us spiritually. And we can we have recourse to him through our prayers and our devotion can ask him to protect us in that way now in their role as men men physically. They don't as much anymore as it used to be. Chivalry it's not dead but but it's on. It's it's gasping breaths. We don't even teach that stuff anymore. I actually we were at a piano recital for my son last night. And i noticed. An se at mass. Sometimes even though. I i actually keep my eyes closed through most of the mass just to kind of focus but occasionally occasionally i. I am looking. And i see these young girls in the skirts that are so short that when they bow you can almost see up the back of their skirts. You know and i thinking last night you know. Would it be really hard for the piano teacher to just teach the girls how to. Just drop a little curtsey. You know not not a big one not necessarily a deep one. Although that's how i received the eucharist i- i- curtsy very very deeply and bow before the eucharist. But i do that in part because that's what that's what women used to do. You know we. We didn't bow. That's that's sort of the the manly thing i'm not saying. Don't bow before the eucharist by all the bible says right. I'm just saying that. This idea of purity and chastity saint. Joseph can help us with that and and as i was watching these young girls and kind of exposing exposing themselves to everyone. You know it just those are i know it's a small thing and i thought i'm not I'm not haranguing people for what they wear. Or how they they honor the eucharist. Course that wasn't a eucharistic sort of situation but as we're talking about surgical things. I'm kind of lumping them altogether right. But what i'm saying though. Is that saint joseph. He can help us with those. Those places a purity and chastity holiness and our men. We don't teach them that stuff anymore. We don't teach ladies how to curtsy. We don't teach men how to just have simple manners you know. And and we don't inspire in them this natural thing that they they long to protect us and it's not that we're you know. Saint paul says that women are are fragile. They're the weaker vessel right depending on your translation which that annoys the heck out of me but partly. He's he's right in the physical sense and so that's the part that's the role where our men are naturally drawn to that protection part of how they're made that fatherhood and that priesthood that longs to protect and and Shelter we can say and so we. As mothers of boys we really should nurture that in our in our sons and allow our husbands even when they they. Don't do it the way. Maybe we would hope or wish that they would allow them by our submission to do those types of things for us when they make decisions decisions. Go with it. You know argue. Don't i hate. I really really hate those means and stuff that that roll around the internet and that we i don't even watch tv anymore because of partly because of this but but men are always portrayed his buffoons. You know they're stupid and they need women to guide them and to you know to tell them what to do and to make decisions. They don't they don't need us to do that. We do it. Because we've usurped authority or or their authority in christ and that's part of why our families are in a mess and i really do think that saint joseph in this role of terror of demons is sort of trying to correct that. In fact i know he is. That's part of what when i speak on mary. Now i add this element of saint joseph to be calls. Mary showed us how to submit perfectly to husband. She wasn't a doormat. She wasn't less fierce at less powerful. She was simply humble. Humility is where her power and her authority come from and in the same way saint joseph's power and authority comes through purity and that chassis in that holiness and of course the two worked together right but when we as women get out from under the proper hierarchy that god has established which we see in equations chapter five verse twenty two crisis the head and then the husband and then the wife and that that is a hierarchy that is spiritually it's spiritual law and when we get out from under that proper hierarchy by controlling and manipulating and demanding our way as eve did in the garden of eden. We have flipped that completely on its head and we have opened our entire family and our marriage to the attack of the demonic. When we're not in the right proper hierarchy and listen this is important because the angels the demons and the angels are. They still exist in proper hierarchy. They they don't and can't operate outside of that they even the demons. They still have their own hierarchy. And they they all operate in that. It's because it's a spiritual law and so when we're tempted as women to get out from underneath the proper hierarchy we then open ourselves and our marriages and our families to demonic attack. And that's part of saint joseph's role is to help us. Reorient the proper hierarchy in our families because his role as terror of demons works with mary's and of course at this point you know that they're they're ascended to heaven or at least they're in heaven after having died and and mary is assumed but still. My point is there in heaven but their roles haven't haven't disappeared. They've just changed somewhat through the resurrection. But here while we're on earth we have to understand that that terror of demons is still occupied in a sense by the husband and by.

"That the line the messianic line that was promised to jacob and before him isaac and before him abraham so that that line could continue and it did continue all the way up to joseph who was the foster father of christ. And it's that descendancy which will look at in next week's show this whole idea of the key This descendancy this promise of the messianic kingdom. Joseph was in that line. Joseph was in that line and so that's part of how he is the the termination of the patriarchs and so this psalm here talks about how god sent him ahead had him. He allowed him to be sold as a slave imprisoned until what he said came to pass and when he's when it says that in the song it means both joseph's to dreams to begin with his interpretation of the dreams of the people in the prison the the butler and the baker and then also rose dreams and remember that that being gifted with dreaming and interpretation of dreams was a sign of god's favor on you and so joseph had been the sign of favor the whole time he was imprisoned and and he was he was being terribly. Mistreated god him and supported him through all of that with this sign of favor and it was prophetic. And that's part of why saint joseph then as a dreamer is profit. Even though he doesn't speak a single word in the gospels. Okay then it says in the psalm. Verse twenty the king sent and released him the ruler of the people's set him free. He made him lord of his house and ruler of all his possessions. Now that's prophetic of saint joseph. Because then was the lord of the holy family. He was the ruler of olive. god's possessions. now that's kind of a That might be a negative word for some people. It doesn't mean that. God owned them as much as they were his prized treasure. Not in the sense of property or ownership but just relationship right and so god made him lord of his house the holy family and the ruler of all of his possessions. Meaning every single thing. That would come through. Christ was first guarded and protected and ruled by joseph saint joseph and then it says to instruct his princes at his pleasure and to teach his elders wisdom and so there is wisdom and instruction in saint joseph. And so that's how joseph his role in my life is visible because he is the one who used my husband to heal me and to show me how to grow out of that part of it was a maturity part of it was wounded nece but through that whole series of an time of formation. Which for me was about fifteen years. During that whole time it was saint. Joseph that was guiding that. That's one of the things that he showed me. That has been so so emotional for me. Because he's been so active. I had no idea he was and he's not been very visible in the church. And that's part of why it's so interesting that this is the year of saint joseph because it definitely seems as though jesus himself but also god is sort of pushing him to the forefront in order that his fatherhood would take a more visible role in the church. And i think that's because we have such a deficit fatherhood and maybe that's why it's even more emotional to me to explore and develop a relationship with saint joseph than it is even with my heavenly father. Perhaps that's because i sort of see the heavenly father as as a spirit without a body and that's that's who he is and so saint joseph is is somehow more tangible even though i don't know what he looks like you know i absolutely love that picture that i've used The last couple of weeks in the podcast. Because it's so vero it's so manly. It's so young and an in his prime. You know and so handsome actually do but this song is so good. Because it's prophetic of saint joseph. Eight sort of recounts all that happened in the past but it also looks forward to the future. Now one more thing that i want to mention before we close out this sort of part of saint joseph as as priest of the holy family and and all that fatherhood priesthood idea is in isaiah chapter. Twenty two The section in verse. Twenty all the way through the end of the chapter. In that day i will call my servant eliakim the son of hill kia and i will clothe him with your robe and i will bind your belt on him and will commit your authority to his hand and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of jerusalem and to the house of judah and i will place on his shoulder the key of the house of david he shall open none shall shut he shall shut and none shall open and i will fasten him like a pig and assure place and he will become a throne of honor to his father's house and they will hang on him the whole weight of his father's house the offspring issue every small vessel from the cups to the flagons in that day the says the lord of hosts the peg that was fastened in a sure place will give way now we know if you have Been through with me. The series on the. Oh anton you know that this key here. This key of david idea speaks specifically of christ. And christ gave the keys to peter but before there was peter and before there was christ there was saint joseph and there was old testament joseph. Because here we have the keys are the administration of the kingdom and the administration was a role that tests emmett joseph occupied in egypt and so this whole section in this prophecy in isaiah it speaks first of saint joseph. I will place on his shoulder. The key of the house of david that key then is christ. He bore christ on his shoulders as a priest. That was one of the roles that the priest had he had engraved on the The stones on his shoulders the twelve tribes so in essence at by metaphor he was carrying the whole of the tribes of god's people on his shoulders he also bore them on his heart in the breastplate where there was a stone engraved with one of each of the tribes in the breastplate that the priests wore on his chest and so of course. This of course means christ and by extension. Because christ gave it to peter. It means peter to but before it was peter and before it was jesus it was joseph. Joseph was the administrator of the old testament and joseph. Here is the administrator here. God gives him then that role. I will commit your authority to his hand. So joseph has a certain authority over the holy family. He has the key of the house of david he will open an shall shut he d. He occupies those roles in fathering foster. Fathering jesus. Himself who is the ultimate fulfillment fulfillment of this key of david and the door and all of these other things but i it was joseph. It says i will fascinate him. Like a peg in a sure place. He will become a throne of honor to his father's house. Joseph was the termination of all of the father's houses the the patriarchs and they will hang on him the whole weight of his father's house. It depended on joseph to keep mary jesus safe to protect them on their way down to egypt at which time the church fathers say that there was an overthrow of the idols of egypt because joseph brought jesus us to and in doing so there's a sense in which he cleansed area of its idols by just the presence of jesus in egypt and of course joseph did that because of the dreams that that he dreamed and the instruction from god that he received in those dreams. So you can see then that this prophecy in isaiah all so speaks of saint joseph and that's part of why we'll see in another show why he's called the prince over all of god's possessions that comes almost directly from right here in this prophecy in isaiah and so he. He maintains saint. Joseph maintains that title. So what does all of this mean for us. It means that our husbands and our sons and our priests they are. They are priests and fathers in that role and saint. Joseph is leading and guiding that. Now they don't they. Don't do that perfectly right in the same way that we're not perfect mothers and we're not perfect wives and we're not perfect women either but joseph is their model and so we should look beyond the husband or the sun or the priest to joseph behind them and of course christ joseph. There's a sense in which jesus uses joseph to accomplish his purposes in these men and so we can look to saint joseph to guide us in how to be marion in how to submit to their authority in how to guide them through our giftedness as women through our intuition that kinda thing guide them but not control them right. We have to accept our men faults and all we accept them the way. Mary accepts them the way jobs. We accept them the way mary accepted. Joseph we we accept our men faults in all and in doing so we. We occupy that mary role that helps them. Step into the full formation that they were made for as fathers and priests. I.

"Like. So there were ten of them and all ten of them went along with this. I just can't imagine what kind of people these were. But definitely this was not a functional family and so they stripped his cloak off of him and they threw him in a pit and there says the pit was empty and there was water in it so it was probably an empty well and it says they sit down to eat lunch. So they're going to kill him. They strip off this robe that his father has made for him. 'cause they're jealous and they're going to kill him and they sit on and they have lunch and here comes the caravan up the king's highway or down the king's highway whichever one and it's interesting that says the camels were were bearing gum bomb and murder so gum would cover lots of different things and so would bomb. It would essentially be essential oils. Gums and bombs would be essential oils and and possibly herbs things like that but this is specific mention of myrrh. And this is very interesting because moore is symbolic of suffering in the scriptures. If you have read exalted. You know that Mary's name the root of mary's name actually comes from the word myrrh and it indicates very deep suffering so they're brothers then decide instead of killing him. They're going to make some money so they sell him to the traders and when the older brother rueben came back to the pity saw what joseph wouldn't in there and he freaks out and he goes where is he and they had taken joseph's cloak and they're gonna lie to their father. They told rubin what happened. And they're going to lie to their father so that their father thinks he's dead so it says in verse thirty one of chapter thirty seven of genesis they took joseph's robe and kill the golden dip the robe in the blood and they sent the long robe with sleeves and brought it to their father and said we have found this. See now whether it is your son's rober not and he recognized it and said it's my son's robe a wild beast has devoured him. Joseph is without doubt torn to pieces. And so he he dons sackcloth and ashes and he mourns his son joseph and then we have in chapter thirty eight. As i mentioned in the video we have this sort of parenthesis about judah and tamar which we're gonna completely skip over because the story picks up in chapter thirty nine. Joseph was taken down to egypt and potter for an officer. Phero the captain of the guard and addiction bought him from the ishmaelites who had brought him down there. And the lord was with joseph and he became a successful man and he was in the house of his master. The egyptian and his master saw that the lord was with him and that the lord caused all he did to prosper in his hands. So joseph found favor in his sight and attended him. And he made him overseer of his house and put him in charge of all that he had from the time that he made him an overseer in his house and over all that he had the lord bless the egyptians house for joseph sake the blessing of the lord was upon all he had in house and field so he left on that he had joseph's charge in having him he had no concern for anything but the food which he ate. And so because of god's favor on joseph potter first house prospered. And it's so interesting. That here god has given joseph these two dreams though second confirms the truth of the first and then the very next thing that happens is not that he's elevated but he's he's plunged into the pit of despair to quote the princess bride he's thrown into the pit of despair and he sold and now. He is a slave in this egyptian guys house and then we have this interesting interlude with potter's wife. Joseph was handsome and good looking in after a time. his master's wife cast her is at joseph and said lie with me but he refused so he wouldn't lay with her and instead he turns to run and she pulls his cloak off and then she accuses him of attempting to rape her and of course. That's so typical isn't it. It's almost like she was trouble. Before as soon as she walked in the room right so it says in verse twenty and joseph's master potter for took him and put him into the prison. The place where the kings prisoners were confined and he was there in prison. But look what it says in verse. Twenty one the lord was with joseph and showed him mercy and gave him favor in the site of the keeper of the prison and the keeper of the prison committed to joseph's care all the prisoners who were in the prison and whatever was done there. He was the doer of it. The keeper of the prison paid no heed to anything that was joseph's care because the lord was with him and whatever he did the lord made it prosper. so here's a principal everywhere. Joseph is invited. He just takes over in a way that you have no care for it. You don't even have to worry about it. Joseph will oversee it. joseph will manage it. joseph will increase it. Joseph will bless it because god is with joseph. Is that not interesting. When we're talking about saint joseph. Then we have the account of the dreams of to prisoners so before when joseph was seventeen he had a double dream. The second dream confirmed confirmed the first and here we have two separate dreamers and they each have a dream of their own the baker and the butler in the video. I called him the cup bearer but he he was the butler and he did bear the cubs but anyway they each have a dream. They're all imprisoned together and each of the butler and the baker have a dream. And joseph interprets the dreams for them. He says that the baker will be hanged but the butler would be released back into the court of faeroe and joseph told him that when he was released he asked him to remember him and the butler completely forgot him chapter. Forty verse twelve then. Justice said to him. This is its interpretation. The three branches are three days within three days. Phero will lift your head and restore you to your office. And you shall place pharaoh's cup in his hand as formerly when you were his butler but remember me when it is well with you and do me the kindness. I beg you to make mention of me. Farrow and so. Get me out of this house for. I was indeed stolen out of the land of the hebrews and here also i have done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon and so when the butler is released it says in verse twenty three yet. The chief butler did not remember joseph but forgot him. I'll be honest. I kind of feel like that applies to me a little bit. Because this whole time. I had no idea that that saint joseph was doing all of this intercession and intervening and and all of these wonderful things on my behalf and four me and i. I had just completely forgotten him. I had never known him so I kind of feel like this butler and chapter forty one begins like this. After two whole years phero dreamed that he was standing by the nile and behold there came up out of the nile seven cows sleek and fat so he goes on it tells us what the dream is and he actually fell asleep it says in verse five and he dreamed a second time so this is the third set of double dreams. Joseph has drained twice. There are two dreams in the dungeon and now phero has had a double dream remember that the second drain confirms the first so in the morning in verse eight. His spirit was troubled and he sent and called for all the magicians of egypt. And all its wise men and fairer told them his dream but there were none who could interpret it and then the chief butler said the pharaoh. I remember my fault today. When pharaoh was angry with his servants and put me in the chief baker in custody in the house of the captain of the guard we dreamed on the same night he and i each having a dream with its own meaning a young hebrew was there with us a servant of the captain of the guard and when we told him he interpreted our dreams to us giving an interpretation to each man according to his dream and asked he interpreted to us so he came to pass. I was restored to my office. And the baker was hanged. Now this is important. Because not only. Is joseph a dreamer but he is an interpreter of dreams. He is the one who he explains. What the dreams mean so that clearly a last may. This is the first time. I've actually even seen this. This clearly applies to me. Because saint joseph was the one who is interpreting my dream big and then he is also the one who Facilitates the the coming to pass that dream big at in blown away by that because i just got it right now so i am going to have to hurry through because i only have one more segment and have quite a bit more to to get through. So basically joseph tales pharaoh that the seven good cows or seven good years and the seven good ears or seven good years that dream is one and then there are seven lean and gaunt cows that came up after them are another seven years so there are seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine and so joseph tales pharaoh. You need to plan. You need to plan for This famine that's coming. He says something very important. And the doubling of pharaoh's dream means that the thing is fixed by god and god will shortly bring it to pass. That's another verse there. That kind of always jumped out at me because of the dream. Big thing but also this these three sets of double dreams right and so he tells pharaoh let pharaoh proceed to select a man discreet and wise and set him over the land of and to appoint overseers over the land and take the fifth part of the produce during the seven plenty years.

rueben Joseph seven years joseph Mary seventeen ten twice seven good years seven cows second dream today joseph potter seven good cows second drain three days seven good ears first third set second time

"He knew those scriptures very well that his parents had taught him and beyond that they were launched at all. He knew how is it. Jesus said that you thought after me to do not know that. I must be in my father's house just as mary was captivated by the temple when she was a little girl. Jesus too is captivated. He's the contents of the arc. He is captivated by the temple of the lord. It's where his heart rests. Did you not know that. I must be in my father's house. And the elders. And the wise pharisees and scribes were astonished at all he knew and he continued to grow in wisdom and stature in obedience to his father. Joseph and his mother mary now when did say joseph di we know that he was not there at jesus first miracle in the book of john he was not in attendance at the wedding at qena. We know he was not at the foot of the cross because john Tells us jesus gives his mother over to the care of john the apostle so joseph died somewhere before jesus public ministry and joseph is the patron saint of happy. Death why is that. Can you imagine dying flanked on one side. By jesus christ and on the other side by the virgin mary. What a happy death. This must have been in the company of jesus and mary and we cray in the hail mary be with us now and at the hour of our death amen to be flanked by these two would have been a very very happy death. There's no burial site for saint joseph. There are no relics. Ever found a saint. Joseph saint francis to sales wondered about this too and he wrote about the death of joseph. Saint francis de sales says this. How can we doubt that. Our lord raised glorious saint joseph up into heaven. Body and soul. So francis is assuming an assumption of joseph body and soul to heaven details continues for he had the honor and grace of kerry him baby jesus so often in his lesson arms arms in which our lord took so much pleasure. Saint joseph is therefore in heaven. Body and soul without a doubt says saint francis details. I tend to agree with him. Joseph still would have had to wait for the harrowing of haiti's the harling shale on holy saturday when jesus free the imprisoned spirits and then Possibly a resurrection of his body and soul. After jesus had opened away back to the father misses a beautiful painting of joseph getting his crown in heaven. is being put on his head by glorified. Jesus who is also in heaven. You noticed jesus is carrying his cross his instrument of martyrdom And so this would be after. Jesus ascended back to the right of the father. Joseph also is assumed body and soul into heaven given his crown now saint tropez of jesus who is theresa of allah. She was a reformed carmelite annapolis spain. "The cathedral in the umbria region in central italy claims to have mary's wedding ring between the was first and then marriage followed later. Betrothal always came first for the ancient jews. Then the groom would go. Prepare a place for his bride at his father's house. That was called an insulin. The whole family live there and we know about it in john. Fourteen it says in my father's house are many rooms. If it were not so. I have told you that i go prepare a place for you and when i go and prepare a place for you i will come again and i will take you to myself that where i am. You may be also so this is actually in ca- parnham this is wanted. Insolent looked i. The son would go and build a room onto his father's house for his new bride after the betrayal and only the father would know the day or the hour. Only the father would know the day or our when he would send his son back to get his betrothed bride and then a wedding party of the sons friends would be formed and they would accompany the groom through the narrow streets at night bearing torches of light and the groom would wear a cronin splendid clothing and the right was never told exactly when this might be she always had to be ready. Always ready for the bridegroom. Because the father knew the date or the hour he would send his son so the bright had to be prepared at a moment's notice and other young virgins waited with her. You could imagine their conversations waiting and sometimes they got sleep waiting for the bridegroom but they had to be ready when the bridegroom comes. She would need to have a lit oil lamp in her window to show her role where she must stain. And so those the parable of the ten virgins we see that five for wise and had oil in their lamps. They were ready and five. Were foolish and when the bridegroom pain five were leaded and five and to go back to town for oil one night that groom would come and that groom would blow allow shofar and the bride would be carried away to the father's house where he had prepared a place for her and that would signify the start of the jewish wedding..

"They endured. Yeah i mean it's it's Compelling to think and. I pondered this so often for so many years. When you know the fact that mary actually says we have been looking for you behold your father and i have been looking for you anxiously. The didn't understand you know and you think about the the piercing of the heart of mary. In that it's also one of sorrows. In the the seven cells of the blessed mother. So what about joseph's pearson. What about him. Why did i ever think about that this moment. And it's maybe yes in trying to find him but also in jesus as answer that could be a piercing. Joseph yes every parent comes to this point in the relationship with the child where we recognize that things have changed. You know that the child is coming into his own and doesn't quite need us the way he needed us. Last year we reached a new stage in our relationship. And there's a certain grief that happens at that time and it's normal you know that were grieving for the loss of a child as a child. You know that we no longer are in that role with this kid. This kid is coming into his own and his going out into to fulfill his destiny. And we all go through that. And i suspect it would have been especially severe with this divine. Who's perfect as a child and now will be a you know go into a certain perfection of adolescence and adulthood. There's a certain change in the that takes place at this moment that we have to appreciate a in the the lives of mary and joseph adds parents it would have been a seismic change for them and i think it's it's driven home by our lord's words it's driven home especially to joseph when you are teaching us more about the actual action that happens in this meal that shared during the passover that moment when someone will ask a question and then the father responds is an interesting. Here's the moment at this point. Now of the ones who are asking the questions are the religious leaders and as jesus. Who's answering them. Yes yes you know what you brought up a good point and i want to. I want to mention this that now when we observe our passover which is the mass we look at the essential action as the narrative of institution when the pre says. This is my body in. He does so in the person of christ in persona christie says. This is my body. This is the chalice of my blood. And what we see happening there as same thing that would have happened in the earlier. Passover where the child would ask the meaning of the elements of the sacred meal and then the father would respond or the rabbi would respond with a definition of those elements and a revelation of their significance. So what we have. There is the revelation the definition that jesus gave those elements in the context of a passover meal. He was doing the same thing his father had done when he was a child. The same thing. He saw his father do when he was a child. The same thing. He learned from his father but he was doing it in this renewed form in this new form that he would be stolen us and entrusted church as a sacrament. And there's so much more that you've given us in chapter. I encourage people. If you just even want to be able to pray in that tremendous mystery deeper you gotta get saint joseph in his world and i do have to also thank you as a quick footnote about footnotes. Footnotes are fantastic. I mean as far as if you wanna go even deeper. That's very generous of you to share those. I'm not only as a as a point of giving credit in certain areas but also as a way for us to dive deeper into these teachings. Well i want people to know that this isn't mere speculation that this is based on real history so much of what we hear about. Saint joseph released so much of what i heard about saint. Joseph when i was growing up was based on legend. It didn't have the the the kind of grounding in history that i've i've come to prefer. And so i want to demonstrate that when i do try to imagine something or when i do make some kind of speculation and basing it on solid history. I'm drawing from the work of reputable historians and so it's all there in the footnotes and i hope people will follow those footnotes and get into the reading of these serious historians themselves. It only allows you when the time comes so for you and your prayer again whether you're praying the rosary and it's a fifth joyful mystery or whatever that might be in scripture you have enough solid background to allow yourself to enter the scene and then to be touched by in whatever way got wants to use that and i think that's what your work does so beautifully mike will thank you chris. That's what i'm trying to do. I am not a scholar. I'm not an academic. What i try to do is take the work of the great scholars and make it accessible to ordinary readers. Lay readers like myself and me your average person. Well i'm happy about that okay. Great i can't wait for our next conversation mike. I'm really looking forward to it. "To labor and and then to offer god creation as as as a sacrifice. That's what we see from the beginning. When adam falls we find that there are consequences for his work. Th- warns and thistles and brambles. Yes to deal with. There are all kinds of hardships that he has to endure when he goes to work. That's the difference. His work has become arduous after the fall because even the earth is resisting him after that. That's what sin does to us. It makes everything hard it makes relationships ard. It makes our work difficult and laborious it. Introduces this note of negativity into labor. That's the difference after the fall. I don't like that sin. All sin is terrible in terms of its effects. You know we think that we can commit a sin suffer. No consequences that there. Are these victimless crimes. But there aren't all the sins we do all since we commit reduce us and they get us out of sync with creation and with our creator and they make everything hard. They make our work hard. They make our relationships hard. They make life hard for us. The problem is that we habituate ourselves to sin and we can't imagine ourselves doing otherwise we would make life easier. We would make our work easier if we would cultivate virtue and really really cultivate that firm purpose of amendment that were supposed to have when we go to confession and try to eradicate sin from our lives to pull it up by the roots. Well thank goodness for the new adam. Thank goodness for jesus yes. That's right because he has restored us in our common priesthood. He has restored to adam the priest he was supposed to exercise and so we can offer our work four others. We can offer it for special intentions. We can make our work a priestly act. I work at a desk all day. I work on my laptop all day. These are my alters. Its there in the language of the second vatican council that we should offer all the work we do all our labor all our leisure put it on the altar with the gifts that are placed there during the offer tori at mass and together with those gifts will be offered to almighty god together with the body of christ there'll be offered to almighty god and they will be pleasing in his sight. So that's what we wanna do. We wanted to do honest work and offer it to god. We make an a morning offering. That's a traditional thing for catholics. To do it was a traditional thing for jews to do. And that's a sacrificial act. We are making a sacrifice and offering for the sake of the salvation of the world when we do our work as long as we make that offering so yes. That's a very important prayer in our day because it makes all the rest of the day a holy sacrifice. No adam's fall. We find all the patriarchs trying to restore that order of proper sacrifice that the story of cain and abel immediately after the story of adam and eve their whole argument their whole in was about sacrifice. That's what they were struggling over the goodness of abel's sacrifice and a rejection of cain sacrifice. You know throughout history. We see the struggle to align a right interior disposition with the proper form of outward sacrifice and this happens in fits and starts. But it happens in its fullness in jesus christ when he offers himself his body and blood on the cross when he offers himself his body and blood in the eucharist. The night before he suffers so we find that in fulfillment and were given a chance to participate in it. Saint paul says we'll make up what is lacking in the sufferings of christ will make it up in our own flesh for the sake of his body the church so this is what we can do through our work. we can make it a priestly sacrifice. We can make all of creation a priestly sacrifice just as adam was supposed to do. This is the dignity of ordinary work. This is the dignity of manual labor of the work of people like seamstresses carpenters and all of those who work with their hands. I get excited about this. But it's something that's very distinctive about biblical religion. It's something very distinctive about judaism and christianity. It's amazing to me that those that we hold up as the smart guys. The you know the greek philosopher birds and they are indeed and very many ways but as you pointed out with aristotle how there is supposed to be this division that there's those who think in who are in the political arena and seemed to know better in yet and then there's a very much a division in almost the those who would word are essentially servants ultimately to the thinkers that they exist for no other reason but to fuel what they are going to in essence manipulate. And i don't wanna seem to be picking on the greeks because this attitude was universal and it really does set the jews apart from all other people's on earth the greek historian herodotus observed that this attitude toward labor's was everywhere in the world. Listen to this. He says no weather. This to the greeks have learned from the egyptians. I cannot confidently judge. I know that in threes and sit the and persia and lydia and nearly all foreign countries those who learn trades are held in less esteem than the rest of the people and those who have leased to do with artisans. Work are highly honored. So he's making this observation and it's significant. I think that he says nearly all foreign countries. And i suspect that when he was writing this down what made him qualify. His statement was his knowledge that this is not true. Among the jews. I and that the messiah would not be placed into a theological think tank but would be born into a family who its head is a craftsman. You know that's true. We tend to lionize intellectuals and pundits. I always like to point out that saint joseph had no part in that life. He was not a philosopher like filo and he was not a priest like zachariah he was a laborer and we do not have a single one of his words on record so what we have from. Joseph is what he did his actions his deeds. Those are what are memorialized. When the story of his life is told in its most reliable form in the gospel according to matthew we'll return to saint joseph and his world with michelina in just a moment. Two Los Angeles sheriff's deputies shot in 'ambush'

"In Los Angeles on Saturday night. So that would be maybe either late Saturday night, our time or early Sunday morning, so none of this was in the Sunday newspapers, but because of the timing There were two police officers. They're actually sheriff's deputies. 31 year old woman who's as a child six years old. I'm not sure if it's a son or a daughter. And a 24 year old man. Both of them have been sworn in 14 months ago. Oh, and they were parked in their marked vehicle. In the marked vehicle. And As a consequence. Being in the marked vehicle and doing nothing. An assailant walked up to the vehicle, Obviously, in an absolute case of premeditation. Ah, and just about seven o'clock Saturday there time, which is 10 o'clock our time. Fired several shots hitting both of these young sheriff deputies. I believe the woman was hit in the jaw in the face and the 24 year old male Always hit in the I believe actually in the forehead. Now, first of all, B. Homicide captain of the LAPD, the Kent Wagner. Cut. 16 described what happened. Excuse me. My mistake. Cut 26. I'm a suspect and played on foot north bound from the shooting scene and out of you. Deputies radio for help. help. Assisting Assisting Assisting units units units from from from the the the district district district responded. responded. responded. And And And transported transported transported both both both those those those deputies deputies deputies here here here to to to ST ST ST Francis Francis Francis Medical Medical Medical Center. Center. Center. the next cut is cut 27. He talks again about the approach by the suspect to the car. He walked along the passenger side of the car. He acted as if he was going to walk past the car, and then he made a left turn directly toward the car raised a pistol. Fired several rounds inside of the vehicle, striking both of the sheriff's deputies. Meanwhile, at the hospital at ST Joseph's Medical Center, the captain Wagner referred to the sheriff of Of Los Angeles County, Alex Villanueva. Talked about the shooting. This is cut 30 rub. At At approximately approximately 7 7 P.m. P.m. this this evening evening at at the the Compton Compton terminal, terminal, the the blue blue line line the the blue blue line, line, there there was was two two deputies deputies who who were were ambushed by a gunman in a cowardly fashion. They're both critically injured multiple gunshot wounds. They're currently being treated for the hospital. So wait. You want everyone to have a prayer for them for their recovery at this time, and, um I'll have Ah, Homicide Captain can wait. We'll provide more details on the status of the investigation is happening right now on this is just a sovereign reminder that this is a dangerous job. the investigation at this point a suspect as of this writing, as of this moment, had mind staying not yet been arrested. Ah, it's kind of a grainy picture of this guy, but they now have $150,000 reward out. And that will loosen up some lips for sure. Now what? You um if you read the globe today, To remain in critical condition after attack in California, Biden Trump condemned Ambush of deputies that's fine. They go through the story, which you've just heard. Okay. Ah, and then in the final 12345 paragraphs of the AP story, not the AP Story out of Washington Post story written by Felisha sudden Mez and Hannah Knowles. Police and protestors tactics drew scrutiny after demonstrations formed outside ST Francis Medical Center with the deputies received treatment. They were on the operating table. Their lives were were hanging in the balance. The deputies received treatment. Aye. Go on, then to talk about Josie Helaine reported for public radio Station. Kpcc, a national public radio affiliate, said on Twitter that she had been covering the sheriff's news conference. When she returned to the hospital she was wearing her press pass, She said Hawaiian tweeted that she began walking behind deputies who were following a small group of protesters. I was filming an arrest. She works in a radio. She's filming an arrest when suddenly deputies show back up Within seconds I was getting shoved around. The editor of the station, Megan Garvey, expressed outrage outrage over this arrest. She was arrested and actually released. So you might say. Okay, that's interesting. What with the tactics that drew scrutiny after the demonstrations formed outside ST Francis Medical Center. We'll let me share them with you. Some individuals who claim to be black lives. Activists showed up. At the hospital. Now the families are being rushed to the hospital. Obviously police, other police officers of going there as I'm sure you know, in a situation like this trying to get through to you. To donate blood, for example. Well, my understanding is that the black the veal and activists Uh, that's a pretty nasty things to say about the officers. Let's go to cut 11 1st Rob! Got your black families care board prize African Town coalition. We're out here at ST Francis Hospital, where Tio America's most notorious gang members have been brought to We're going to go up here and just check on Ah, these murderers right here and see what's that? Let's see what's up. They're going to go check on the murderer, the murderers of the police officers who have just who have just almost been assassinated. Come 13. This gets a little Ah, raunchy, but you'll get you'll get the drift. This is again the activists outside the hospital. These two officers, a 31 year old woman. And a 24 year old man. Young man have been this but it's the this an attempted murders attempted double murder cut 13 Rob! Going, people. So it gets worse. The black Ah lives matter. Activists actually tried to enter the hospital. Okay? No, The police are essentially trying to get family members in to see the loved ones who could be dying. And there was one Young, Ah black woman. Who was the security person? At the door. Who stopped this horde of thugs from literally invading the hospital. She should get some sort of an honor for the guts and the courage that she showed this is cut 12 rub. We're down here. The same Francis Hospital were down. They were down here to visit someone. You can go visit Nobody. You can once we confirm, but there's no visitation allowed anyway, so you gotta go. All right. You see what's happening right here, right. Got it. These pigs out here. They're telling us that we cannot come in here and see these individuals who have been shot down train station. So what? Okay, This is a public that probably has no problem. That young woman. Whoever she is, basically stood down a crowd. They're going to go visit. Yeah, they're going to go visit. Finally there's a priest at the hospital who came out and talked about what is going on Cut 31 rub. Describe for me what the protesters were chanting. What were they saying? Well, they were saying death to the police killed killed the police and this our sheriff's, but the message is still the same. And they were using all type of curse words and and derogatory terms about the police just just provoking our police officers unacceptable behavior because the hospital should be a sanctuary where way should leave hospital alone. Tensions are high since two deputies are inside. Did you see the negatives make swift action. And he said that the protesters trying to get inside the emergency room? Yes. Unbelievable. Un believable and then we have the radio reporter. Remember The Washington Post article in the Globe today they refer. Police and protestors tactics drew scrutiny after demonstrations formed outside ST Francis Medical Center with the deputies received treatment. That's it. The Washington Post had no interest in describing what had happened. And then you had this nut job radio reporter who, as the police had trying to clear the area. She's trying to interfere with the police. This is cut 41 40 to rub cut 41. Back up. It continues. Hearing cut 42 here. Just what the police needed in that situation, have another distraction and the executive a editor of this radio station, so called NPR radio station. KPCC, or public radio National Public Radio affiliate. Expressed outrage over the arrest of the reporter. No outrage, though, over what the demonstrators tried to do to enter the hospital as these police officers Life lives hung in the balance. This one doesn't really outraged you that I don't know what does this is this's as as bad as it gets. I don't care who you are or what you think if you don't condemn this action by those literally, vigilantes, we're going to go visit these people in the hospital. Oh, yeah. They were in the operating room. Feel free. Just go in and say hello. I'm sure that they'd love to see you. And by the way, we'll clear the doctor's out of there. So maybe You can finish him off
