"From the Financial Times, U.S. to boost military presence in Europe as NATO's strengthens defenses. 5000 additional troops to Romania to squadrons of U.S. fighter aircraft after a U.S. F-35s will be in the United Kingdom. These are good moves. The deal is there's no money in the budget for them. Joe Biden gave no additional money. There's a real cut in the Biden budget, but we're looking forward to the Senate in the house agreeing to fund the Department of Defense so that we can actually do this, rebuild the supplies of the weaponry that has gone to Ukraine rightly, but it is up to you to elect Republicans at every level if you want the defend not only Europe but yourself. The UFOs the Government Couldn't Explain

"Most ufo stories are typically difficult or impossible to verify at the center of today's story. Though we have eyewitnesses. Who aren't your average. Joe shmoe off the street. They're trained pilots and technicians with years of experience. Working for the us military and the events all happened not long ago. It's the fall of two thousand. Four and two ships are parked about a hundred miles south west of san diego the cruiser uss princeton and the aircraft carrier u. s. s. Nimitz besides the ships crews they're loaded with navy pilots running routine flight drills keeping their skills sharp as they wait for deployment as the pilots hit the skies. Radar technicians back on the ships. Track their flights. It's all pretty standard stuff but sometime around the end of october. A few technicians notice unusual blips registering on their equipment as many as five to ten objects. Keep flying within ten miles or so of where they're running these drills they're all cruising at about twenty eight thousand feet which is too high for them to be birds but they're moving too slowly to be planes. The texts broadcast radio transmissions asking who these aircrafts are. They don't receive any replies. The even recalibrate their equipment thinking the blips could be some bugs in their software. But they're not they're screens keep showing these unidentified flying objects now thanks to pop culture a lot of people here unidentified flying object think alien spaceship despite its very literal meaning. I mean a balloon can be considered a ufo until someone confirms. It's just a balloon in this case the ufo's could be anything. A spy plane a missile or even a drone smuggling drugs into the country so on november fourteenth. Two thousand four the navy. Dispatches squadron commander david favor to intercept the objects whatever. They are but a half hour into david's flight. Radar technicians spot one of the blips. They give him some coordinates and he has out in that direction mentally preparing for what he'll do if the ufo is actually hostile near the ordinance. His plane infrared camera picks up on something and it's directly below him.

"Was a fighter pilot. So she's coming in from the ankle as a personal project. Four so this is aiden and she's excited. When you saw this was released at the disney investors day. What were your initial reactions into this ousman but also just announcing that we're getting rope squadron. Film all level of unite where. I thought that this was one of my favorite things to come out of the best today. I'll level of you may think it's really unique. And the reason. I say that is because to open up with his message. You know what we've just heard. Patty jenkins i respect so much. There's so much emotion there oversee this feelings. The very raw feelings coming out about her fava. And i think that is such an incredible place for a story to come from an apostle and got me excited now. The reason on riddick side for this is really just because that video because on piper this is a project that i'm really surprised exists. This is a project where i'm like. How was assigned off. You know if. I'm being completely honest when i take into consideration this video that they released with pie describing. You know what why she's done this film it A molen on oil in and if it set during a really interesting. Tom beard which will come back to shore A think actually does even more reason to be excited. My boy rogue squadron is fundament would do you think my ball in your opinion on something before we have. Would you think of the name a interesting choice for a name. Because roy scorching isn't exactly new. Install is is is huge in the legend's continuity of course it was expanding canon since the strokes back the rogue squadron were at the battle of the legends eventually took it and ran with it and made it into something that was a still beloved by fans. Way is why. Which antilles is such a beloved character within the founder is mainly because ice story stories with scorching. So i found it interesting that they thought will vase Pay has said her exact warsaw with doing something original with great influence from the games in the books. There's a big knowledge understood about the greatness. Who'll is things but yes it's an original story. And i'm so psyched to do it. So give it so when we so. It's an interesting tourist cool. It rogue scored get what they've done because it's a recognizable name at. It's something with people to get excited about it. Also if it could it something like other. Alpha scorching people be said Bought an scotian while they ignoring wires. Ropes coach and you kind of Screwed are the white. But i'm always always excited by. The prospect of this was pre. Would wonder when i four which i did got onto with fans and we know that lucasfilm high routes want to shake things up with they get to direct films which move forward pay jenkins one duman good film monster very good film academy award winning film for charlie's their on she wrote that that was kind shoot she didn't want one the woman but that was an acclaimed film which is directed. She did eighty four and look that was for me and a lot of people. Eighty nine night for was a bit weak with bitten off. In fact i think is very naphtha. To then say. I'm not worried about patty jenkins taking the helm for ropes scorching just because seattle a bit of a row. P. one thousand nine hundred. Ninety four royal. Anyone can direct to hasn't had a bit of ropy film any any director at one so worried. Boy look colin trevorrow. Trevor apparently got sacked for doing a nashville wind. You still there so. I only go anyone's worried about anything like that. But now i make gov excited by the prospect of it. I'm also excited by the fact that she says it's an original concept. But i have a couple of week. Cheeky winks notes to what came before. But what's your level of rope scorching. Knowledge you up on a moderately may moderately. We've just come back on the name. You know i. I like the. Because i i thought. Hang on rogue squadron with just a few years ago rogue one thomas just right one well the truth is we haven't just had roy guan. By the time this comes out it would be best part of a decade since rogue one It's been released in cinemas. I think as well that probably looking spinoff films because this is a spin a film. This is a star wars story dot have known as far as we know. It's a standalone film. We done is going to be branded as such but nevertheless looking at rogue one compared to solo in some rogue one did a lot better if if there is that word association rogue squadron people might think it's going to be like rogue one. I suppose it's it's a standalone installed story. I don't know. I think it's it's a marketing move in that regard Now in regards the actual film. I believe a conflict me. Fineness confirmed on means net. Any white you may know might you boy but i'm pretty sure this is set. Post rise of skywalker. Right of the of the descriptions. It's not it's not confirmed but are now we okay. Now because of the way it's worded the the official disney loin is story will introduce a new generation of star for apollo's as i earned their wings and risk their lives in a boundary pushing high-speed through royd and move the saga into the future era of the galaxy. So disney right. Yeah i know so when you look at the x. Wing it's a modern era x wing as.

Probably if you're listening in the far future you probably going to look back in this guy. What wrong mugs. Ar but stay around because this is going to be. This is going to be fun. My boy i saw that stuff not so. I'm gonna go to london tomorrow. i'm going to canary wharf on. I'm gonna book myself to see war on earth is going on so many boy did exactly that. I woke up this morning. Got my coffee ready. And i hopped on the train and may boy on about half an hour from canary wharf. Where we're on the doorstep or i would've loved to join lewke boy Commitments men couldn't shy because any excuse to hang around rainey's why off the book. So this is my kit just for context so look people ventured out in the snow in the co today. Yeah yeah literally so. I took my camera and my equipment. Because i do lots of Photography anyway and shoved in my back. And i thought i walk. Let's go do this. And i knew the spot. Soon as i saw the image lake. I knew the exact spot because that's spa is actually quite popular with a lot of photographers. So when there and it sat the specific place is actually the new canary wharf cross rail station. I'm such a new kind of lot metro. Line that building across london and so i went that way. Nothing zil dish also side. There's not enough you would never. You would never think that there was a stall was production now few hours ago and at this point i didn't know if it was a few hours got it could have been weeks ago so we didn't know now i went and outta coffee idle. It was snack shock. Lie i love him. And i thought myself fight. Listen right let me try and get something out of this. We can run. I was actually just taken architectural photography at the time. And i did all i saw a canary wolf walker coming down an escalator and he was on his own. We were just in our own our own in this area. And i said make may modify show question he goes. Yeah go mike. And i listen to we. Would you working here yesterday. None no one was walking near. Yes the team. We're getting along with just about life stuff. Yeah just getting along with this guy. We bump into enough gun he goes. Oh hang on aamodt know something about it this this person. Yeah we'll call him. We'll call him jeff yet now. Jeff knows a little bit more about what is going down about this production and are of a mate. He goes on. Jeff did you about this and he goes. Yeah yeah star. Wars one up he goes. Yeah that's what this bloke is telling me that block being myself. And they were out filming connubial. Something won't go. Well you don't think now off gotta take it with a grain of salt. 'cause on door approach with i don't think was can be because that's so being done in los angeles and california. Well he goes will whatever it was. It's the production pilgrim Right pilgrim. So that's i'm not right. Okay an unstable as actually endo so you know we right is on definitely endo now. What's interesting is a lot of us have probably seen that image by now new undermine what we get into by now i spoke to this guy. Jeff and jeff was speaking to one of his good friends that morning. That's how he knew that stall was was that jeff wasn't unsought the diaper four. Jeff was speaking to his might who works canary wharf group Who was that on the sunday. Now we've talking to jeff all. I'm getting now lot third hand information. Yeah so it's not just second ad it's not just off. It's time to pretty much. And are managed to speak to a few other people around the saw consign of more than that. And i came to a all this information. Basically may first one is that they use in a few locations on by the way my spoilers mild very mild a are just listen. Because it's not that crazy. And i'll tell you get crazy on. I'm going to save it so last Three going to be three to four locations actually being used or or filmed in canary wharf. So a few of those are the crossroads station themselves. That's a lot of people on set and it could be a mobile shows. Not just one sheet south. Oh that was interesting. The guy's definitely got there on saturday to set up and film on sunday. China Sends 25 Warplanes Into Taiwan's Air Defense Zone, Taipei Says

"Is very far from unheard of for chinese military aircraft to buzzed the skies around the time on yesterday. However the people's liberation army air force stepped such provocations up a notch. Twenty-five chinese jets a record number into taiwan's air defense identification zone. This hefty squadron included eighteen of china's chengdu j ten fighters and four nuclear capable h six k bombers taiwan's air force scrambled their own planes to shoot the intruders off. But it seems reasonable to suppose that they will be back on. Joined with more on this by isabel hilton. Ceo at china dialogue isabelle twenty. Five aircraft is a fairly significant gesture by china. But this kind of stunt in itself isn't unusual is. How often do they do this. Well particularly this year. They'd been doing it a quite lot. They've been doing it. You know several times a week in recent times and its its military chest beating over fairly unpleasant kind I don't think it means that an invasion is imminent but it certainly it. It has a lot of advantages from the chinese perspective. It keeps the population on edge. It forces the china. The taiwanese air force to respond in some way they got so tired of scrambling a late last year that they decided that they would just monitor from the ground but again you know if you step the pressure up again then then scrambling has to happen. So it it. It's a long campaign of attrition and it's also testing the biden administration so there's a lot of probing testing and chest-beating beating happening at the moment.

Is sonia thank you for having made you to look i. I wanna say that the messages you received from your family and especially your mother growing up or such a tremendous example of female empowerment and a genuine belief in human spirit. You were taught that you only have this life to pursue your dreams and goals and that nothing can get in your way so long as your mind believes it you can achieve it while if every young girl or woman receive this message growing up. What could be accomplished on planet earth. So really really impressed by that. And you've talked a lot about your spiritual beliefs and faith. And i wanna ask you. What is going to remind as you ascend a mountain. do you go into a meditative state. Will you rely on your deep spiritual beliefs and constantly have to retain mindfulness in assessing the physical challenges. Along the way i would imagine. There's a variety of protocols and situational awareness. That is needed. But i'd really like her more from you on that. Because in my estimation this mindset is what separates those who make it to the top and those who unfortunately do not on different stages of climbing i have a different kind of a mindset. I would say that. If i fain like there there might be avalanche. There might be a route wash. That might be bad weather. Something which has detained my plans to climb a mountain. I get into a buddy confrontational mode. Because i am. I'm trained as a soldier. And i had to fight my adversity so at times i started seeing the mountain. Asthma adversity. it happened to me on mount everest. I had to in my second attempt. Also i had to turn back from three thousand feet twice before i made my tent and succeeded so in those two attempts i started challenging everest. That either you can give me death or injury you can go ahead and give me that and i will keep on doing what i'm capable of doing. So sometimes i get into that kind of confrontational mode. Where i see that. Yes the mountain in front of me. Is the obstacle that i have to overcome he. It is an enemy. And i have to fight it with all my might that i have sometimes from vivid me. There are certain sentences accord or something but have support him that just springs up bent. The conditions are really tough. I'm climbing exhausted and the going gets very very tough. I have seen these flashes. Coming from within a volume by Kipling everybody had about displaying very famous swim. If so there was this lions from this point if that some everything is finished and nothing is left to new that still a wasting your head which says hold on so at one time this would hold on just a up in my mind and i just continued. I just held on and kept my foot one foot after another in front official. So that is how it happens sometimes. It is ready spinach with because london's are so beautiful. I get into that meditative state also but i contemplate the nature of life seeing a mountain see a mountain the stance alone so anybody who is strong mighty and wants to rise high. Perhaps in life would be like that alone solitary having his own battles and also facing all kinds of storms videos rain gold snowfall everything but still standing very tall and after that i absolve that seed they also the cloud at times at times it is just sunny so this is how life also is on. Episode # 62 Crafting a Powerful Performance Review: Col. Carla Bass

"Listeners. And welcome back to workplace perspective carla bass. Hello and thank you for the opportunity. I'm glad to have you back. I was. I was looking back at our shows and we had you on the show just about this time last year talking to us about how to be better writers in our work lives. And today we're gonna be talking about performance reviews from both the employer employee perspective. Secret cited to hear what you have to say about all of that but before we get started. Why don't you tell our listeners. A little bit about you and what you do right now mike. My mission is to teach people how to write powerfully. Why because opens doors to opportunity that would otherwise remain closed now with that in mind and based on the difficulties that cove it has inflicted on everybody. I can post three free e books on my website. They address How to write a standout resume how to write a performance review and how to write a grant submissions. So i- laser focused everything. I'm going to say on those three areas but my my journey has done amazing for forty five years. I've written products for the white house and congress and generals and ambassadors Thirty of those years was on active duty in the air force in the last fifteen was with federal agency. The pivot point for me that changed my life and is what brought me to you. Today is when i was a lieutenant. Colonel i was a squadron commander in hawaii in charge of four hundred eighty wonderfully talented people when i arrived that unit was the most losing unit in statewide professional awards. Not because the kids didn't deserve to win but because the supervisors could not write winning packages so i developed. My methodology. Taught my guys how to write. We began sweeping the awards. And then i ended up teaching that for the next fifteen years to thousands of people and When i retired. I pivoted that and turned it into a book that that place to everyone. Corporate business private and that's right to influence It's now in its second edition. And it's one eight eight national level awards so this is what i do nowadays. Well that's awesome. We'll have links Your website and you'll publications on our podcast page when we get your show put up. But let's get into it so when it comes to crafting these meaningful powerful performance reviews. What advice can you offer to employers and supervisors and on the flip side employees. Ls what you're thinking. sure. I have eight tips for the employer a supervisor the first to recognize that a performance review is a strategic tool. Not only are you grooming the future of the individual you're also grooming the future of the organization because through it you're trying to promote the best of the best so it actually impacts the organization's future second is impact Make sure when you're telling these stories that you explain the so what. The impact is the heart of the performance review and supervisors because of their elevated positions have a wider perspective. And they sometimes have a better vantage point What impact the individual actually had like dropping a pebble in the pool. The the individual can see the first couple circles but the employer has a bird side. You and understands more so he needs he or she needs to explain that to the employees and make sure it's reflected in the performance review The third tip is to position your subordinates. For future successes create material for the next performance review and by that i mean recognize outstanding performances formerly with thank you notes or time off awards. Note compliments that they received from clients and keep an email file for each each employee. That would Where you can gather this this very valuable material. The next is award speaking of awards if you have a superstar that you'd like to submit for award and you're you're really really busy. Ask that individual to draft a reward nomination on him or herself to do the initial legwork that does two things it takes a little bit of the burden off of you and it also gives that individual practice. And here's how you craft a hard hitting award report qualities do you. Do you value specific qualities in an employee like teamwork or flexibility communication skills. Or whatever if you do tell them that so they have that mark Against which they can they can measure the performance number six and this applies to. Everybody is framed. The story put the put the The item that you're describing in context was detailed detail provides a mental yardstick where people can actually understand what you're trying to say so for example My most valuable branch cheese sounds good but you could only one or two branch sheets so say the most valuable of my eight branch cheese or employee of the quarter okay but employee of the quarter selected from forty five peers. That's what i mean when i say. Put it in context and the final two tips for the supervisor of the employer is started off thinking terms of a boxer. You hit the reader with a solid right cross. That's the opening hook and here are some examples of opening hooks Her top three of many accomplishments bla-bla-bla propelled her office to new heights and then continue Impervious to stress. He that that that that the an opening hook like that tells the reader pay attention. What follows is important. So that's the criticality of open hook that the last quote the last words. The closing words are as important as the opening hook because that forms the final impression so examples of a of a closing hook the closing words would be excelled in this top job or her proactive can do approach is contagious or place in positions to influence others. So you've basically got a sandwich you've got the the hard hitting opening the center that focuses on the impacts and has the details. And then you've got the closing. So those are the thoughts for the supervisors and for the employees. It's there hang onto the second. carlisle me. ask you something. We're going to take a break in the end. We'll come back and talk about the employee part of it but let me ask you this about the supervisors. Those are awesome thoughts. That's great. I love the you know putting things in context

"Violent thugs or no strike. I don't know but it's talk. Yeah oh anna a what. What's his face. Power power prisoner. Oh doctor spectrum yeah you think he thinks he's a worthy how jordan analog and i don't know i feel like the further you get from the inspiration of the more different in strange they become right anyone. It was a part of a core anything. Yeah he had the characters. Are there for similar. Power says not necessarily for similar back stories and things like that. I really think that squatter supreme was a big chance. Because i mean okay. Forget about washington. Nothing like this ever been done right. I mean at that point. You know when when i was coming out i mean at that point to that point had marvel ever done anything like a twelve issue series outset in this alternate universe. Don't think so. I mean they were given me seriously. You know over year in mutants iceman and the night crawler and you know all these limited series but they were like four g series a. J. pride wolverton was like six right adam that this is a twelve issue series on characters that not many people knew they knew they were based on but they didn't really know who they were so did let you the new year vendors history or yeah so it was kind of a chance on marvel's part and and all did take some chances in in tried tried some things with the series but it does kind of feel like it changes direction. Doesn't i mean so. I i mean what i'd say. Probably what about halfway. Maybe when that captain america fill in our tiny g comes up pretty much the halfway point. Yeah i it it it feels like it was. I don't know if it was greenwald. Fighting fighting it or characters fighting or just the with being the seems like it was fighting itself in some places would have been even more of a massive. They were tying issues or something secret. Wars to tighten the beyond their show. We had behind her show up. Yeah he could. Have you know stupid under half. He could have eaten the glass saying well. That's pretty ridiculous. Was that spiderman. Saw that spider man. Stop hey guys taught me how to use the bathroom. Exactly you have now. I gotta go there. What do you think that i mean. It's a it certainly worked at the time constraints the prevent us from digging deep into jr issued by uber. Who knows maybe on a swing back this way dude issue. But it's a hidden gem that gets overlooked a lot especially at year of birth the grunwald groupies and not being flipping through spinner racks and eighty five to six. Or maybe you just heard from them of the recent appearances when they pop up and you want to dig back to the somewhat origin. You know that sort of a rebirth. I guess because you said at the beginning was the same as was per them. In the avengers through uninformed there were not yet fully formed characters to what we've got by this point. Yeah i didn't. I didn't read this anywhere near one of his new. I mean i don't even knew about them until like quasar. And that's what i think i picked up the trade either one reading quasar not too long after ways on. Yeah i think. I picked up the trade well yet. 'cause i don't think i ever bought the original issue. I picked up the trade. You know after after dream all stats back in ninety six. I think the trade came out. Mike ninety seven or ninety eight something like that and then i remember reading it then but i mean look at the aesthetic of it to Again watchmen is really grounded and and and has a real sense of you this. You've got the bright. The bright colors you know marvel comic right. You know all of these bright of science fiction looking things that are going on and then it just it has such a different feel you know. And i think we know what meanwhile was trying and i think he was successful for the most art but Yeah i didn't buy this when it was coming out i did. You know squadron supreme. Give me my expert. That's really really wasn't familiar with them. Until reading ways are in And you know at that point. I think i was probably a subscriber to vendors and then would pick up. You know things like Was was pure david on the whole yet. I don't think so but yeah uncanny x men. West coast avengers vigilance garment. Which you know there was a bunch in the avengers. Kinda family of books at that. Time and the squadron just didn't really fit in any of those kind of silos right was a mutant book. It wasn't the vendors book it had ties to the defenders. But i didn't really if the defenders so yeah it's not gonna pick up off the stand. Yes kind of before my time. So i didn't start collecting time until like eight Yeah started with like spiderman and hopefully stuff. I'm looking on ebay. I mean you could some some people offering if these prices. I mean you get issue one for five dollars. Somebody had the first six issues for five dollars. Y if you want to go for the for the collector for the collectors so once lab the initial one and it's created a nine point six eighty nine ninety nine. I think you could probably get once once. Once the outside world is allowed allowed back in the outside and conventions happen you could probably put together a run for the box rider of the. If you don't wanna chris a perfect ten copy out. Yeah i see these boxes home. Sure you straw your local comic shop in boston. I'm sure the dolphins are probably in there somewhere..

"Know basically devolve into a slugfest at some point right at the end so you know i think i think more makes a better point. You know with with that that you know with the comedian. You know superheroes or fascists. They use violence to enforce their beliefs. And you know he he. He expresses that. Very clearly in watchmen whereas think grunwald trying to go there but he's kinda bumping up against those rails that he said at of the marvel marvel production in the marvel universe using these marvelous versions of dc characters. I know it. I really really think it deserves kind of study. In comparison trash to because you're the mining a lot of the same themes in an ideas but they express them so differently. You know so differently. If only we could find someone to teach a class on this adds. That'd be cool. Yeah that. I wonder if you'd like offer like an online class or something and offer down on what it would be like sign up for. Could you do like a twelve week class and be like each week to issue where something that. Yeah i think have to do like overview to because back the way way watchmen structured is very different than the way the squatters agreement structure. And an actually. That's a good point. Because i hadn't really considered that until now but so if you look at washington you have a present present issue in an issue that tells the characters history present history present history. Mystery squadron has laut cleaner through live nokia every issue is i mean every issue plots enlargement too. But it's maybe this is what i'm struggling struggling to get. Marble is more soap opera. Type style more melodramatic right or at least back in the day you were comparing vc. That's fair now and grunwald kind of continued that with squatters supreme. more jettison. all that stuff. This was this very bleak. Very you know World that had been impacted by the superhumans at romped around in it. I guess something that could be. I could be the class to i if you if it's not just squadron. A squadron supreme verse watchmen comparis- comparing contrast twelve issues. They're they're both arou- around within a year to each other any other something. I really like that. I think more wisely did and not on it to they give a lot more color to the world of watchmen. Because you have excerpts from the book under the under the cowl right You get an article by dan. als Get a bunch of pirate jazz. The pirate stuff. Which is you know very you know. beware inviting monsters. Lets you become a monster. You know yourself Grunwald is you know a really good storyteller. But i think more is on another level than pretty much everybody else. And that's why watchmen. Is the book that we still talk about so much torres. Water supreme isn't interesting. It kind of interesting footnote you know. Hey you're not as good as alan moore has an awesome. Thank you something say okay. Maybe squadron supreme went a little long to like maybe painted it up to like nine or ten issues. Maybe were more conducive. Maybe i mean maybe maybe the hype evil hyperion staff. Maybe something but the fact that it ends kind of in a giant you know very deadly fast and with like half the people dead switch it. Kind of hey. Violence is not the answer. Except we're going to be violent and then there's gonna be an answer. And because i guess i feel like it started out trying to use for i mean is that is that is that was kind of a point to slake yet. Yeah i mean if you could say violences at the answer but but sometimes you just you know whether it's the other side or whatever sometimes it just evolves into out or possible hit. If you're going to i guess part of the problem is too. I mean if you're gonna tell a story like that like you have to be really focused and all the characters happened kind of exists to to exist for the purpose of that story but all these other characters have different origins in different purposes or existing. Right so you got this big conglomeration. So it's it's a little muddled. I think you know what they do. In watchmen is yet. They're based on the charleston character shenault and all that but they're completely retool so that they're supporting exactly what they're doing the book whereas here's a bunch of character we're gonna make him do these things but know a green arrow existing in the same universe as superman not. They don't carry the same metaphorical weight and they don't carry the same metaphors. Even you know it's one is one is not like the other and yet they're you. They're both being kind of conscripted in service of this other. You know metaphor bout. What heroes or impact on the real world or just.

alan moore twelve issues Grunwald shenault grunwald twelve week charleston ten issues nine Water supreme washington each week both squadron supreme . als a year each marvel marvel one half the people

"If he would have given himself more freedom. It probably would've mind a lot of the same you know things. That moore was mining in in washington. You know because it's in washington. Seems like a sure more purified form of what what grew was trying trying to it. Because it's you know. Watches watchmen right again to washington squadron. They didn't have like before this. They didn't have their own monthly book. But the squadron had been around like more basically just i mean he did the same kind of same thing but he he created characters that were like reflections and other characters. But i mean when moore started. These are all brand new characters. They had yesterday Exactly and and the fact that you know spiderman or the thing or quasar anybody could go to the swatter universal has it's a comic book universe versus initially after the first thirty years. Washington was just this thing with its own thing you know. It's like superman. Was not gonna go doctor manhattan. Right did that yet. So whatever. It to me watchmen has a lot more gravitas to it. But squadrons supreme is trying things using more or had caught carte blanche the he recreated these he created the world created everything off trying to make this shit in an established comic book universe so again. Those guardrails right now is well. Okay let me ask you guys what you think. Rudolf vesper is gotten. his wife. thinks it's this based on the graphic novel have to. Maybe he thought that too. Because this is the one chosen ashes to go into. So that's true. And he was a huge justice league fan and canada update but made it more Real world and kind of digging into societal questions. Things like that while also being able to do something that we all know renewal grew on loves doing just digging up old characters and giving them something new and so a very real damian. It's it's it's twelve issues. You didn't lose control of it in in our big time building block in the squadron in other stuff that you know quaid's are especially so it could very well be this nano into them i but i always liked his captain america quasar boy this i mean this is good but i always like cap american quasar better but i mean but if there were there were you know over one hundred issues. Squadrons premium. Maybe a limited a sixty. Yeah right you know. I i feel ok okay. I still feel like. I still feel grunwald. Did his best work. He did really good work on the slaughter. He did really good work. On captain. America but i really like ways are was kind of his newly kind of his magnum opus. What he you wanted to tell. So i say with squadron and quasar. I mean i mean not a ton of been done with either one of those but i mean they had already existed before grunwald got a hold of him. Do you think. I mean. I need my opinion. I mean i think he did better with quasar than squad supreme but do you think maybe that's just because the squadron was so big it was its own universe. There was a big group of them. You quasar focused on one person came out a lot better. I i think it may be just me because i'm weird but when you get right down to it. The squadron is the justice league. Oh yeah and under mentally. I think after ores universe in the dc universe in bbc account and gets into this a little bit in the interstitial lay crossover straight at. They're really they operate by different rules. And i don't just mean the rules of magic and pseudoscience and all that stuff there the feel different because their expressed differently and it it kind of becomes this kinda becomes corporate comics if you wanna get right down to it. Corporate superhero comics during the last couple of decades but in the seventies and the eighties marvel and dc were very different right in the the books had a different feel to them. The the the just said you could. You could tell you as a reader. And i think part of that. Is that really. What this auburn. He's transplanting these in. Dc archetypes into a marvel star universe and it feel like the fight each other. So maybe that's just weird. Well that's all i was gonna say. Do you think maybe even on a subliminal level that a lot of people might not even realize that you know you see stuff going on here. It's the site high-purity like superman would do that or it could be because he's playing against type somewhat because you're obviously he knows who these characters to be right But it kind of undercuts it too. Yeah i mean is it. Maybe because to on a conscious or not. But it's like. Oh these aren't the justice league so i can basically disposable characters i can kill who i want. I can have anyone go. Evil want it out. Is that that the do things that you don't often see done. In a superhero comic that used to especially by mark and you know that a superhero giving departments cancer. You know i know. I i know but by like a we we don't really. I mean obviously like later in more modern times we see collateral damage of caused from superheroes fighting but this is caused by just living at home. You mean a a loving son. So watch unexpectedly of That gives it a real vibe to remix makes you think about other things going on in this alternate world Tickets something else to do. You think maybe to that. It's like maybe grunwald strength wasn't rating characters who go darker dude morally questionable things. I mean look at the ones. We like captain america quasar. Those are the boy scouts. Do you think he wrote maybe that that was his strength writing the boy scouts well but he also wrote the red skull he wrote. You know john walker. He wrote Faster there was some but he also had an exact opposite. yeah yeah and maybe maybe that because squadrons. I don't think you had anyone who is completely name. You know the boy scout the completely ninos wiki clean appearing or somebody who wasn't yeah. I mean i think let me both sides were like do the right thing. I mean both sides are doing questionable stuff. Yeah and it it just kind of you.

Airliner Hit By MANPAD!

"So i wanna tell you about an airliner a airbus. A three hundred guinea hit by a man pad. So you're wondering probably wondering what is a man pad that is a man portable air defense system. mp a day that's Looks like a bazooka. It's a shoulder. Mounted sam surface to air missile. And it can be carried by antibody. Because it's not very heavy and has a three pound warhead now. Three pound warhead. Doesn't sound like he'll do a lot of damage what it can knock a big airplane out of the sky now when i was in vietnam We were called. Destroy la back. Then the sa seven and it's picked up the name grail also but in russia they still call it destroy. It's a russian Device and back then. It was heat-seeking only work only hit your airplane from behind what we were would home in a basically on a heat source which typically is the exhaust but now they have a new version of the strella which can home in on an airplane from the front. Also so here. Is this eighty three hundred Taking off from iraq going there. They're headed toward took out from baghdad. Headed toward bahrain and a three man crew of was seen firing one of these mad pads and it struck the airplane. There's a picture in our our in our Web page of what. It looked like after that airplane got struck it was struck in the left wing and fortunately it was right after takeoff so the left wing fuel tank was full so there was no fuel air vapor in the tank because if they've been vapor that would have been highly explosive but it was bernie and The missile in addition to punch a big hole in the wing took out the hydraulic system. So now the the crew is flying this airplane with no flight controls. They're doing like what united airlines flight to thirty two did. They're using differential thrust to manage the the the altitude the heading the airspeed. They're using that to fly around and try to come back and land back at back at baghdad and it took about ten minutes for them to get back around now. The flight engineer on this flight was doing a magnificent job because if the left if the source of fuel to the left engine had run dry. They wouldn't have been able to control the airplane anymore. They needed all of their engines for differential thrust. They needed both engines to be able to to operate so that they could maintain directional control. So he's constantly monitoring the state of fuel in the left wing when the state of fuel is leaking out dramatically. And he's using crush meeting to get fuel back to the other engines so that they could continue to power both engines so they brought it in. They made a landing. They didn't incredible job made landing. They were not able to control the airplane. What's it was on the ground than it went for. Like a thousand feet off the runway. But but no one was injured. The airplane was substantially damaged and it eventually was scrapped. So why do i bring this up. Well man pads are available everywhere They ever virtually every country where there's any violence you will find that. There are men pads. If you look on on wikipedia you'll see a list of countries where there is is documented documented. Proof that they have man pads somewhere there and all it takes is one person who's been very briefly trained in how to use it. You turn it on. Turn the machine on and you're aiming at an airplane and squeeze the trigger. That's basically it and so you could be. You could be at risk especially when you fly. Overseas special show fly to third world countries. You could be at risk of a man pad anywhere you fly. So that's something to think about a three pound warhead. Doesn't sound like much but it can do serious damage in its knocked airplanes. Who even back. When i was flying at four as there was a foreign. My squadron got out of this guy by by estrella

Personal data stolen from Dutch coronavirus track-and-trace programme

"Chummy chums. There is a fellow working at a company in the netherlands. Okay i'm in shaved for awhile sam. He's he's wearing upper the same and he has an interest in the dark web. Okay that's where we diverge. But he's no malicious hacker. He is daniel velarde who is a cybercrime reporter at the dutch tv service l. news he's the guy who loves to dig up facts about what's going on on the dark web and -mongst cybercriminals all the hackers and he's a cool technology guy and it's his job to dig up details. What the bad guys are up to and uncover cyber goofs. Okay this is. This is what he does for a living basically. Yes oh yeah okay. For instance last november. He gained a little notoriety because he gate crashed a european union. Defense ministers video conference court. This was after the dutch defence minister accidentally posted the logan details on twitter so yes of frayed is still happening so you want to show. He was hard at work so he took a screen shot and he posted up about to join this video conference call with the other defense ministers of the and that our man decided to join the conference. Well well to to the credit of the minister. He didn't reveal all of the pin code. Only some of the digits. So i think they're about to missing and so this inventive young germans to twenty tries gotta clean. Well that gained him some notoriety but he's is now in the pipe is again because he has uncovered what appears to be a serious security breach which has been happening in the netherlands. He found that someone for months has been gone onto snapchat. Onto telegram onto weaker with wicker. Weaker is a encrypted a messaging service a bit like signal telegram yet. Weaker is particularly beloved of drug uses bluetooth. Only one or my i. No no no. You'll think you're thinking of different. Yes wicker isn't just for local. Contacts can be anywhere. But we're wicky you don't have to a phone number so you can super-secret anyway. You want to buy your jazz cigarettes do that okay. Good to know right now and found is that someone has been advertising a month. Something their their access to sensitive data from the dutch health. Service smith civically. These people have access to databases of people who've taken corona virus tests in the netherlands are have been documented in the testing tracing system so their home addresses that email addresses the telephone numbers dates of birth and their b s n. The bsn is the dutch equivalent to social security number. Okay so someone has been advertising this Boy so you can pay between thirty and fifty euros. And say hey. Can you tell me the home address. Phone number email address and social security number of this person wetness wicker telegram if you contact the hacker via the ad. Wow that's a good rate so you can get those details. Jeez and you kind of course request details about more than just one or two people. You can say well. Could you give me all the information you have about everyone who lives in amsterdam aged over. It's like do you know database. Well is it shown a sequel query. Now why why. What do you mean why for funsies. Why would anyone want this. Yeah why would anyone want this information. say i've had four coronavirus tests or i've had done who cares well because matching wanted to scam somebody. You can send the message or an sms. Say no no you that you took your test on this date and we've now got the results for you or can you pay this amount of money to get now. We decided we're going to give you some treatment. Go to this site and shook pretty cuttittas but more that you also get their social security number and you can begin to do all kinds of fraud with that all and this is a bit scary okay. They discovered that the private data of celebrities was also sale and even crime jones. There is a chap in the netherlands. Code you have to excuse my accent because it's very very good. Jan van den. He sure everyone's going to recognize her. Well our friends probably will he in the netherland. that's yesterday. He is famous because he is a crime journalist. A former police chief he receives the same kind of full-time police protection. Which is afforded to the dutch. Royal family super the squadron of bicycles for threat. Seriously because he's considered so much for target to his work in the past assisted in the capture of criminal sneaking. Read all about him on. Wikipedia is being upset so he goes around town with like a dozen people him yes. He's got bodyguards. He's got the police looking after him and so he doesn't want his personal dress. How tall is this guy. Jesus he's going to be quite. So i say that about a lot of people how y'all so yes so he puts put seeming danger because of course he's a person of interest to criminals and these are criminals. Can you tell me where he lives. News phone number and is social security number you can imagine. He's not terribly pleased about this. So this journalist daniel a etc He got the prior consent of individuals. A number of people a few hundred people and he did a request he said i would like information about these. Hundreds of people approached the scammers. And said how you thinking of making a purchase just as a little test can me details about these people and he confirmed the authenticity of information. It should been offered for sale and it was correct so this is the legitimate information. They even posted screen shots of the computers with access to the databases now the dutch health service. They say they haven't found any evidence that they'd been hacked. But he screenshots. Suggest in thi- job it exactly. Ubisoft Is Developing A Massive Open-World ‘Star Wars’ Video Game

"Open world star was game is in development. Not at electron arts sits in development at. Ub soft it's from the division developer yousof massive. No indication has been given us u whether it would be single player or multiplayer. Or what part of the star was timeline or win and might be released but Ub eve chemo says quote on. It's an original stores adventure. That is different from anything that has been done before. Sam what do you make of that. It can't be two stories. you can't be star. Wars chess masters tarazi yummy. Oh it's none of those things. If you just eliminate all the way star wars has manifested itself. You can figure out what this game is because it's not any of those cannon whatever it is going to be cannon with with just films and everything everything our young everything hanan. I think this is such cool news. the division is not necessarily my cup of tea but like big aaa studio. That's really really well. Resourced and capable of of of doing star wars justice undeniably so Yeah i'm really really excited. We also dug into some of the jobless things because obviously now the the word is out there like our star wars project and they're able to be a little bit more descriptive there. Nothing to revelatory words like open world action adventure linear and lawn on linear storytelling. An rpg style progression were thrown around. So it's a video game folks you heard for as many star wars games as we've gotten. Yeah it's been a million where you know this this little trailer montage. That's running a showing several of them. We haven't really ever gotten a big aaa open world star wars game. There has been role playing games. And you know jet. I fallen order is. I don't know what you would call that wide. Probably i would. I would think on the positive side. This is just yet i fall. And were because it's a bunch of open areas and ed fine with me but i want i want like i want like sky rim levels of open like our fallout lending open area. Yeah i want like actual open world star wars game. Where like that's this weird hole in the in all the star wars games we've gotten in the past if it was that that that could work well but what worries me is seeing the division footage and thinking about the avengers and like you know we did our lessons being learned about what You know open world games are when they are also games a service or are thus not being learned about that and people really like the division say anthems that the thing that scares me as much as a jazz. Yeah that's a that's a very real you know. I'd like star wars as much as the next nerd. But the franchise assertive written into a corner because there are no jet. I in modern star wars so unless they go back in time to old republic all any player ever want to do is run around as a djeddai but the fiction of every single star. Wars game has to itself for why you know. I'm not a jet. I but i'm using a lightsaber or Or calcutta's in jeddah. Fallen order is a jet. I'd here's why you know. No one knows about him like i. It's this big stumbling block. That like every star wars game has to overcome so but even if you are jet. I like you can't be getting a new lightsaber and equipping new loot and being on this loop dried. Really like he got different different robes. Sure where they can make that work. that's horrible. I think that's why a builder public works of the time when there were there were a lot of it is. I'm definitely a fan of a lot of ubisoft. Open world games. A lot of the Is far cries but Yeah just to echo what you're saying. The divisions are really my cup of tea. Either a shared world sort of lewd or shooters not really what. I what i'm into. So i don't know i don't know what to make of this Tina i know you like a lot of assassins creeds. Obviously like open games shema. What what's your take on this. I didn't play of division one. I did actually like the vision to i think there are. Rpg elements that make sense and like you know really big dense world to go around and do different activities in could could be a really good fit to so. I have confidence that us off. Nasa is a great choice in general Breaking out of. Ea exclusively is a good thing for them if felt like felt like ea developing those games Was a bit of practice for what is now known as lucasfilm games. And now they get to branch out and pick like a clipper per the type of game that they're going for so that they don't feel necessarily like hamstring into Squeezed into one publisher particularly. So it's like they got a little bit confidence with the successive jet iphone. Order and star wars squadrons and a couple advancements the battlefront two. So they've figured out a formula that could work and now they get to poach essential essentially developers from different talents to figure out what else they're gonna do in this increasingly dense cannon star wars world.

Republican Congressman vs. David C. Smalley

"Let's jump straight in. Because i want to bring our guest in on the conversation immediately. He's a former congressman from virginia's fifth district he's now nc are is chief strategist and author of bigfoot. It's complicated which. I really hope we have time to get into and i really hope. He's still a republican. Let's find out join me in welcoming denver riggleman to the show. Thanks for joining me today. Sir thanks for having me sir. Oh well you heard that with us for the first time it just came out moments ago. What are your thoughts. So i'd like to state as we start here. The president trump reid tweeted a few months ago that the joe biden. Kill seal team six. I think god you're right. No you know. That's and that's what i was when i was listening to that speech after what i heard Down near the white house right before the siege on the capital. In fact that i've been in. Congress have been in the house. And i knew some of those people that spoke like madison call or mo brooks of talked to many times Don jr. meant obviously rudy giuliani I've met obviously and and what i really saw. Their david was absolute Language to incite really. It happened over the months and months and to hear that right now. My my first reaction is not really a politician but as an intelligence officer and something counter-terrorism like somebody's very afraid of the senate trial for impeachment. I thought the same thing Michael came in a few seconds in michael goes. Looks like a hostage video like he looks like he like. It's not really his words. He just feels the need to say these things he had to. I mean you know. The thing is is that his his term does end. I know that there are some people that are still listening to pastures and trucks talking about biblical prophecy that president trump is right now hidden a bunker and mike. Flynn is going to be the next vice president but by the way that's true. I just saw this video two days ago. One hundred eighty five thousand likes david on a facebook video from some dude in a truck saying that you know he's a pastor and had biblical prophecy and he just went through the whole cunanan thing and i just shaking my head about the ridiculousness out there. But he still wants to keep his brand to. He's got to make money. And how's he going to do that. And i think there's a lot of things you need to worry about. And that speech was the copa. That was so too late and show not anything that he said before that very hard to believe men. You're spot on. I mean. I i you know about damn time is the first reaction and then does he even believe the stuff he's saying is the second reaction So late you know so late to the party So that so that my listeners have a little bit background as to why this conversation between the two of us is so important You know you're you're only a former congressman because apparently you weren't conservative enough for your district right you. You lost to someone who was far more conservative and on top of that. I've seen you. I've seen pictures. Anyway of you officiating. Same sex wedding so you don't sound very republican the to us sir. What's going what's going on over there. Why are you so open minded and logical. You know when iran. You know. i've only been. I don't know people know this about me. I was i was a ceo. sell my company in two thousand twelve doing counterterrorism and counterintelligence work. Could you know not. Only that i can. I can go back in time. If i told you the crazy stuff. I've done like we mission plan. The first bombing runs death in afghanistan for nine eleven. that was our squadron. It was me Oman training omanis on. F16 sixteen operations in two thousand and ninety nine. I was on. The romanian serbian border for operation. Allied for trying to stop ethnic cleansing. I've had a hell of a life and that's just the beginning counter idea. Actually our team that was tracking sulejmani and two thousand six two thousand seven so when people saw my resume like this son of a gun never been in politics before when i ran as a republican i was asked to because the my predecessor had to resign because of alcoholism. Which is a little ironic. Since i'm going to stiller. I one on accident one by one. Vote against a christian. Dominion est They called me a baby killing sodomite But i thought if if practicality and i was a good guy team player like in my military days voted independently when i had to I thought i would see that. I care about people more than the career. Because i didn't need the paycheck and sadly after the same sex wedding david conspiracy theory started about me that i was working for soros to turn children into alternative lifestyles by funding schools. To teach that doug gay sex was okay. And that i really started saying cunanan was turning and blossom and this was back in twenty nineteen and since my background is in you tracking isis and al qaeda and disinformation and radicals. I said this also looks like that. We have almost the same type of thing here. We have people that are using language of dehumanisation and antisemitic. Tropes to go after people. And you know it's like a lot my book right. It's about bigfoot belief systems and take over people's lives so really been a hell of a time for me. I never thought that My family we get death threats You know i never you know. I never thought that. I can tell you this. Now that somebody would remove the lug nuts are in them all up on my right front tire at a rally where i came out and felt funny and took it to a shop and look like they tried to hurt me pretty bad so this has been one of my life has been like for the past two years david. And guess what athem you know. This is what they want to bring it. Bring it because i got fifty acres of distillery and i'm a second amendment guy and but i'm also a free thinker and pretty socially libertarian. So i don't know where. I fit bud

"Jack curtis here on dose of leadership. Welcome to the show my friend. Thank you very much for having me. It's pleasure this is going to be an interesting conversation. I mean it's obviously. I love having fellow prior military folks on here but now that i got a fellow gold winger on here so that's always fun but never had anybody that's been in command of a squadron on one of the things that i always regret. I gotta the ring court right at ten years. I got the airlines. But what are the an. I ten years reserves and the guard. But i always regretted not taking. I always want to know what it'd be like. Take command so this is going to be a fun conversation. I am interested from your aspect of it. I was joking when i got on the call with. You don't look old enough to take command. But i forget how my squadron commander was like in the late thirties. Fifty two now. And you're in your early forties right so you just don't look old enough to take command but i it's just me not dealing well with the age of getting older but but thanks for coming on the show man privilege beer. I've listened to your show for for a long time. Several years. And i gotta i gotta admit i'm pretty humbled to have looked at the lineup of people you've got on your show and the quality conversations you've had into now get to be a part of. Its thank you well new and i have a history to because i don't how many years ago wasn't you reached out to me. I mean in karachi. That's probably two thousand and fifteen. That's so important. When you're learning a new skill or a trade or a job or task is just repetition over and over and as you work towards those ten thousand hours right and <hes>. You know being able to go through flight school. That quickly meant that. I was flying almost every day. I was in a simulator almost every day. Sometimes twice a day and <hes>. You know being a middle of the bell curve kind of blue collar pilot. Like i'm in a career of repetition important so yeah long. Answer your question but i got winged in two thousand and two. Okay good yeah so that you're about eleven years ahead head me or eight years. I got winged and yeah ten years ahead of me winged in. I wanna keep doing this math. I'm like my head's about to explode anyway. I'm old you're not so that's the whole thing that it came up with so you get and you fly the ea six right. And so you're you're flying to that and eventually transition to the e. Eighteen growler super hornet and eventually took command right. And so. when did you so this is interesting. So when did is this your first command and when was this. When was your first command. Yeah so you know the navy. Does things a bit differently than <hes>. Some of the other services particularly army and the marines where he will have a platoon commander for our company commander <hes>. the navy <hes>. Air Force: Blacks are more likely investigated, disciplined

"A new report from the Air Force find service members who are black are more likely to be investigated arrested and punished than their white counterparts the Air Force inspector general's report finds a large number of black service members reported experiences with bias and racism one third feel that they don't get the same opportunities as their peers who are white and are less likely to be promoted to higher ranks but more likely to be investigated and disciplined one black squadron commander said there was little support and it seems that if black service members make one mistake it's the end of their career the report comes as the Pentagon struggles with a broader effort to expand diversity within the ranks Jackie Quinn Washington

"squadron" Discussed on Star Wars Sessions

"Me retrial who of course played rose tico said leaving social media in the wake of the law shadowy was the best thing she's ever done. Hey. This Vanessa Marshall Voice of Harrison Dula from Star Wars rebels and you're listening to star wars sessions probably Britain's greatest star wars podcast. As looking boy set up shop star wars season, we get into the final third of the year we'll about star wars nothing but star wars. So that's exactly what we're talking about tonight obviously Star Wars Bob Scorcher in star wars scorching is from EA, drops only a few days ago now less than a week ago look and myself we rushed out and picked up a copy I think quin physical I went digital. And we wanted to pass it to give our I thought. You know the game, pry them different modes in before the game came out we were pre. Open about saying that you know is it is what it is. We'll play. We'll see how it goes. We're not major maybe that accelerated for all as we have pain for previous releases. So did the game try and joined by praying For you this on Friday. When dropped Yati ran out in the rain to get it didn't. I did it was a rainy Friday lunchtime you? Nick tat the flat and I went to the town centre and I tell you one thing my I'm going to go from one. Here we go. Riot are went to go to the game as in like the shop. which is basically it's a video game shop. In America there's a franchise that's is game stop. And go there in the town centre flipping closed in. Worn. Off Dad NECE. What on earth is this madness they got lou sinus hanging on the floor not even on the window sang with move to sports direct, which is a huge. Sport Shop Light Solo in goods, Aaron sporting goods, and that they've moved in there. So let's go to the other end of the town going Meh. Couldn't even find. Unfair a had to our. Naive is outrageous and it is unfair. I should have actually episode to law at. Anakin, Skywalker to all of them. The women and the children. Not just. Stack is to. Yes. You spoiled star man trying to. Train UH. No so I vent, anyway I eventually found it. It's tucked in the corner of this building. Honestly I have no clue WanNa have moved in there. And I'll tell you what my I didn't pick it up from that. Who is like five quit more expensive more. In as STA, and I want to support a video game place like game I love game but. I TWAS my you know, of course, scifis coppers five quid you know I mean that's attack I bel-. You're right. So I went to starr picked up squadrons come I'm installed it. What's in the afternoon golf work played it. So I have I've tried to play as much as possible of this game. A haven't completed at I've not mastered it. By played off played the. The quick. The dogfight played the other online guy mode. And I've played I think I'm just adjust under hoffy through the mind store. What about you may? Same. Apart, from my finish, the story today I played on set on, picked it up digitally on Friday because I was GONNA go out but as I do you know what? Could just download it now and then bought a tell him. All the kids are asleep and I'm ready to chill out with a cup of tea. Can they you download and ready to go Size me petrol process bit lazy. So I downloaded it ready. So I played for a good. Friday evening. and. Then a couple of hours on. About. An hour Saturday morning. And then I just. A couple of afternoons so. I wanted to try and get as much. Done. As possible because I anticipate, it wasn't going to be very long. Unlock. The power from to campaign was wasn't that long either. So I manage to blaze through the story and for those wondering there's going to be any spoilers we're going to give away what happens in the store, your any specific points that so up if you haven't played, it haven't picked it up your having completed it but I've played the online mode as well. so I managed to call a tap tap the in everything. So there's no point coming on to speak to blow rain himself, Burlington squadron leader, and not having played all aspects of the game. So often motto in plenty now. So well, I wanNA know though might is top from what you've played and what you've seen way of thoughts on the game then economic top level thoughts on squadrons. Well, what will site is also for audience Manno have not spoken about this this year literally the first time we've spoken about this and people have asked US online for our opinions on it, and we've not shared it with not shed our opinions because we want excited for this podcast. So we are bouncing off each other out. Of Nowhere Luke thinks about this. Yeah we have no idea now. All she question again might. Just asking what I thought about it essay because I spoke, Saturday the Cup Luke is GonNa for Scans Slash Scones, but we never once mentioned squadrons. So yeah, what was your? Thinking naive played the game we think about. Okay. All right. So overall overall with a bear in mind. This is this is quite an affordable game. This is lock four equipped game. Equate. Yes. Sorry. Thank you. quit the. quit game. At forty dollars lesser is a four dollar game in America. So it's cheaper than a lot of other games out there. and. I think that that is a very fair value of what they've given us. Because I think what we've got is an absolutely exceptional flight simulation game. That is a star wars game. I think the campaign is is is okay. But I will say that this isn't going to be for everyone. And I know matinee just from lot how we're GONNA lie do this mind section right? We all we're doing this law bit by bit. So we're going to talk about game play story mode and light a few other things. And I'm going to go into those but just ballpark Miami boy were you thinking pretty much the same as you may the priced, I wouldn't want to pay more than thirty pound for this game because yes, it's a good game. Is a good game. In the there's lots to talk about it. There are things about which to know well. As we go through any of nitpicks, cons will come out naturally then but. Up. Top is perfectly playable is decent flight simulator. It looks wonderful but if I had to shout fifty to sixty pounds for it. I might be being a slightly more harsh on it than I am now or potentially going to bleep. Up talked. About having a taste and time praying I'm having a good time planet. You mentioned the game prey. Then that was one of the things which what the the videos that came on Youtube beforehand dropped the play in that of. How you can do this this and this how A lot going to manage to do this. But. I've had a son could few hours now the game play what are you thinking about our body? The game play is It's hard. It's not easy. You don't just stick to.

"Let's start with the Review Roundup for Star Wars squadrons right now are not right now I should say eight forty, , one am Pacific Time. . So about an hour and a half ago on Metacritic Star Wars squadrons was sitting in eighty one. . Now there's a bunch of Asterix here. . This is the pink version, , and if you went there, , there's only. . There at the time was only like I would say less than ten reviews up because, , of course, , Star Wars squadrons, , a multiplayer game and the multiplayer servers just going live <hes> tomorrow. . There was a thing yesterday for press plane which we did. . You can hear about on the games gas share a little bit about ear as well <hes> but lots of the reviews not posting but the ones that did very positive <hes> PC Gaber end gave it a ninety <hes> Ian Bordeaux says. . But if star wars, , squadrons had simply Ben Tie fighter with prettier skies to look at, , it would have already been a winning proposition. . What it is in fact is a great looking technically demanding starfighter Sim, , that provides a dynamic new spin on space dogfighting without any of the usual monetary cruff that companies live service games. . Today time will tell if truly has the depth and skill ceiling to give it give it staying power, , but it's made a damn fine first impression. . If you've ever wanted to become an ace x wing pilot or fondly remember your time in a dos based fighter cockpit star wars squadrons is a must play of twenty, , four seven gave it. . Four out of five stars, , Alex Donaldson wrote, , this is the triumph of squadrons. . It's clearly lower budget title and easy as other. . Star. . Wars episode but it comes with a price to match. . It has more strained tensions within that. . It's still squeeze in as much detail as much fan service and simply put as much content as possible squadrons feels like more of the more than the sum of its parts more most importantly it does exactly what it set out to do, , and it does it very well indeed, , it's EA's smallest scale console stores title yet, , but it's also it's best flea battles a little long and sometimes listless, , but some will no doubt pine for. . An some we'll find for a little bit more content. . I personally would have really liked to see a twenty player or more death match mode, , but it's nevertheless difficult to really criticize such a tightly wound complete package as such. . It's an easy recommendation and then game informer gave an eight point two. . Eight, point, , , two, , five Asia Reiner over there says squadrons single player May fizzle out frequently like a malfunctioning hyper drive motivator but the multi-player continually impresses and is worth the price of entry alone flying in formation with a group of friends put a smile on my face and that was just the calm before the storm when the laser start flying squadrons, , multi player can be nothing short. . Of exhilarating and a great test of skill pushing players to be clever in the cockpit to out thinking outmaneuver opponents given just how enjoyable it is to pilot an x wing Tai fighter this is a multi player experience I will continue to go back to even if he doesn't support it with new content, , it's just fun to play providing something different compared to most today's competitive games. .

Please just say no. We don't will not give this to. You were done. or You could say we'll give to you as long as I see something that you're giving back to the community that you've taken all the millions of dollars from where this is going, but anyways valve just actually has the support or pledge support for the Games of Color Expo because that's where we're at right now. "So I up. As I mentioned the top of the show, the gorilla collective was live all weekend long. They had multiple streams. Dev Interviews. Did you guys catch any of the press conference stuff? That was happening this weekend and blame. Mostly. Just been looking at the headlines like checking out the games that have been interesting me but I did see the one that stuck out to me. The most assists shot coming back. I guess in HD rerelease. This has been in the works for quite some time. It went dark for a while. They put the project on hiatus, and we didn't hear from it and then boom. It's back now I. Think Two thousand eighteen is when they put the project on hiatus, and it's crazy to think that. Maybe we're just like old gamers, but Shaq is something that a lot of people don't even know what it is or that it existed in the first place. It's like the predecessor of bioshock. Right I mean that's. A huge game, but are they doing like a totally different engine, or is it Kinda like halo thing where you can click a button up rises. I'm curious. How indepth. How much of a Redo this thing is! We work in video games and should know the answer. Why you're putting us on the spot like that, so sorry but. I will go to the Google machine if I could find out. The details about everything that is coming in the system shock. Really well. She which on Google Machine I have a few highlights of my own that I'd like to talk about. Yeah, go number and I don't know what press conferences these came during because there was like a million this weekend. That's the lights and exaggeration. There was the PC gaming show the future gaming show, and then the girl collective. Anyway, the first one is that percent persona for bolden is coming to steam, which I think is very very exciting. Are there any percents fans on this stream right now blamed Chris or you know I don't play per now you don't. That's been to the locations in Japan. Apparently, you know that's marvelous. That's. That's cool. New apparently. That's actually not true because I've actually played percentage trying to throw you bone, but it was oh long. Apologies this is really exciting. Because this was a vita exclusive, and this is actually my first person and a game, so if you have not played it, it's currently twenty dollars on seem I wish it would come to console. That'd be amazing, but it's really good if you like personify of absolutely checkout percent of four. <hes> let's see, and then there was a game called gory. That was announced, and it's described as the following come hang out with frank. The razor-sharp Hover Board in chip, the depressed modular AI, that's constantly complaining as wipe out hordes of cuddling and horrible toys, all plan is gory, the most adorable and bad cat in the world, so you play us this like Realistic Orange Tabby and you're on a spaceship, and then you're on a hover board, and then you're taking out stuff. UNICORNS somehow have blood in them I. don't understand it. I don't understand it, but I'm definitely intrigued by spelled G. O. R., I. And Andrea immediately thought of you because it's a cat. I appreciate that being the defacto Cat Lady of what's good Games, but I sound a little bit too off the wall for me I. Don't know how I feel about I. Think you'll like. Check it out. It sounds like conquers bad for day or something like that, or it's like a cute thing that's also really violent and gruesome and yeah. Yeah, I don't look at it. I think there's neon lights and rock music. It's kind of. Really, good personally and then my true love to Vinita. Divinity original sin. You got some New Deal C. which is incredibly exciting. They got new. Armor new quest line in new boss fight, and there's also a prequel comic cannon coming in as well to the Larry in store so cool for me. No one else fucking cares, but that's okay. I don't think no one else care and I just think that you are the defacto Larry and fan girl, and that's okay most wrong with that. So I'm seeing that system shock. It looks like they're using unreal engine for and I figure. It was a kickstarter, but then I don't know. It's going be. Wasn't the Alpha Demo is now. Apparently you can play it currently. On steam or Gog? Bill, but looking very promising says Gamer. Yeah they crowd funded for one point. Three million dollars, promising to capture the original horror ROMP freshening it up. It's been a meandering journey though with night dive pausing development in two thousand, eighteen like I mentioned, and then starting over. Aches yeah, that's starting, not Greece. That's what it says. They just decided. We're going to start from scratch why not. Apparently Oh, yeah, here's a story back from March of two thousand eighteen systems shock remakes, direction expects released probably Q. One of twenty twenty ll. Didn't happen. But. Yeah, if you're in to system shock and you've been following that story, you can check out the Alpha. Demo

"Ah Definitely liked shot like an all this stuff man. Like I'M GONNA get sideswipe here soon because I'm a sideswipe fan. I've always really liked him so seeing him in those Kinda Grungy beat up burnt up colors. Looks great to me I definitely I think it won't the ultra. Magnus definitely want that one. I'll have a little I to him in the bigger guys come with paddle measures and stuff. I Love Battle Masters. That's GonNa be so radically. Probably get the Mega Tron I I didn't really buy a lot of the secrets. I got star scream. I wasn't too bothered by any of the other seeker releases but I might buy hotlinks just to get to bowel masters. But what I'm saying. Is I dig him? I definitely won't scrap. Face definitely have no find him yet. So far the only ones shown up at my local stores have been the walks grabbed. Miraj and hold an awful by any of the other ones right now Moving some trying not to buy a whole lot before a move got to move you know but scrapped faces definitely wanted to get. I definitely appreciate him. Being a Him being a throwback to Gi Joe. I think the guy's name is scrap Iron Cobra member and it's like identical. You know like the paint. The colors everything to lay out like. Wow someone saw that just knew the map. Those colors to exits perfect. But ma'am definitely need to get scrapped face Some people are saying to get three of them. So they can make your whole Fletcher camera out of them. And that's pretty tempting but I think I'll just get one I've got I've got the reflector from last year. The siege one kind of Canada regret not buying in the Amazon one with the micro man colors but like I said this made to look like the transformers cartoon version of the character. So have them in. Those colors seemed better to me. Seemed more right. I don't really regret to banishes. It's a cool toy you know. I like repeats so that sort of thing and that's not even his scraping all of it. There's bought bought their out. They've seemingly slowed down. I haven't seen a whole lot of vendors new series but it's like I don't see him at my local Walmart anymore. I don't know if it's just 'cause they've slowed down or just walnut carrying over. Maybe my Walmart just letting them like I give them a target now. The Claw game box from target by usually by the blind pack search regular packs. I might buy the other. The Gum ball machine packed later if it goes on sale In all fairness twenty bucks for like was it five or six. Bob Butts this little overpriced but it was definitely cool generally like bots. Hope they don't end anytime doubt on how well they've been selling. They've been making them so that tells me they've been selling but I don't. I don't know if they've been selling well enough to continue or whatnot. Haven't seen a whole lot of new stuff. Or maybe it's just kind of taking a little breather due to you. Know the pandemic affecting everything. That's maybe but definitely looking forward to get some more of those guys Thing this weekend might stop by target. Grab a couple packs just for the sake of it definitely is man is so much cool stuff out to buy. It's coming up. Continually Man I. There's these Plus she's they were showing on news sites the other day. Al Know if I'll get near those might get one or two you know was like wow those. Those are neat. Definitely the showed the new hallmark ornament for this year. And I always get that guy when I bring those guys and this year is going to be a spoiler Jazz and abby cool. I didn't see that coming. I don't know why I didn't see that coming. Seems like they've gotten around to a jazz level character by now but I guess I just assumed to be someone else you know. Maybe prowl or something but definitely he looks good so. I'll definitely be kidding that up. I always just order it off of hallmarks Amazon thing or whatever Here's a hallmark nearby We're moving to the town next over. Which is the town I work in. I know they've got a couple of hallmark stores there but the town we do. Most of our shopping isn't far away so probably doing a lot of shopping. They're still like we're talking about. It's going to be probably the same drive to get to it just from a different direction. So good at hallmark though like I went there man. Two Thousand Fifteen now that. I think I've been there. Stop that because it's time for a brand new episode of Transform Squadron to podcast about robots monsters admits adventures. It's by zone based DOT ORG. Go check out that site and while you're shaking up that site thanks. Thanks for checking out. That's I appreciate it. Thank you thank you but my name's rob and I'm back here. It's May it's May twenty twenty. It's actually Star Wars Day. It's May the fourth. So may the fourth be with you and if you're one of those people who have a chip on your shoulders about Star Wars. Today's is probably a bad day for that. Because everyone's are really enjoying it. You know it's like one of the most popular things going on. It's been that way for a long time and you know it just kind of is what it is you know. Some people just have a problem with things being popular. And that's just kinda redundant because it's it's it's not going to ask you if you can if they can like it you know. People don't like what they're no lying but anyway happy Star Wars Day. Hope you're enjoying it. I myself am very happy to see another one. You know we. We've been all going through some rough stuff right now and it's really sucked and I- things are kind of getting a little bit back to normally stay are here. I don't know about where you are. Hopefully you're doing okay. You know. Stay stay healthy the best you can. I'm trying my best. You know doing the face masks and you know we got yes social distance. I hate hearing that word now. It's become like I remember when I was in high school and the OJ. Simpson trial was going on and the word judicial system became like got so tired of hearing it. Well now it's like social. Okay I got it. Social Distance Guy. Yeah Okay Great. You know every commercial in these trying times these uncertain times. And you're like okay. I'll buy a NACHO bill. `Grande Okay thank you I I sure yes I will buy one. I'm hungry I'll rub up but you know hope everyone's doing okay out there so far. I've been very fortunate that I haven't gotten sick Usually I get a pretty good cold in winter and I didn't at all this year. Seventy in pretty good so aside from just my normal allergies and right now. I live in Georgia where spring is like a pollen nightmare. So it's been pretty rough this past week for that but for the most part not so bad so thankfully pretty fortunate in that way and I hope you're doing well and you know just hang in there. We're going to get through this. I know we're all tired of hearing too. But you know you've got to keep on keeping on you know but is totally Star Wars Day and you know of course all this is going on so disneyworld and Disneyland can't be open. I think they're opening a little later on this summer. Of course it was new restrictions and new guidelines for this new normal. We have to live in. But they'll be reopening here but passed a stars day but I'm thinking earlier man. It would be great too. It would totally be great to do that. Just yet be a galaxy's edge on Star Wars Day. I'm sure there'd be a lot of I think there'd be a lot of cool limitation stuff available for that day you know you know pins or whatever not nothing crazy but maybe some crazy. It's Disney they. They'll do it you know. They like making money as IOS. Modest but Man You're like if you got Disney. Plus they put the entire all the SAGA I don't I don't know if every single store removes owner is rogue one on there so low on her. I don't know if those I have them here on disk so I guess it doesn't matter but you know but you know they did that today. a lot of cool stuff you know. Everyone's of course Mandal Orange the most popular star wars thing going right now and so. You're seeing baby iota all over the place and that's totally cool yesterday when I was we we instead of ordering groceries. We went to go pick them up because we had to some other errands to run. We went into by Groceries and get some other household things and I got my wife a a baby iota throw blanket because she just absolutely adores them. You know so. It's just it's cool to see something that's been going on her life stores a lifetime thing and I can't imagine what I'd be without it. 'cause it's totally shaped everything. I've been into since then you know It's just cool that there's something for everyone you know. I. I think that's definitely a cool thing. it's just great. You know you have other long running things. That are pretty much in their own little wheelhouse. There's there's this imaginary battle line between Star Trek and Star Wars. That is stupid edge. Just it's really stupid a lot and that thing is it wasn't around forever either became basically Grow but you know miserable people who WanNa want no fulfill superior about something Kinda put it in place and most people. Just don't care you know like there's this thing called a vocal minority and that's usually what you hear when you hear these type of things because most people are like yeah. That's cool if you like it. Whatever you know but Now not so much into star trek and that's okay. I don't care if you are. You can be under whatever you want. I'm not going down talk it you know. I I will say I did see some of those a next generation movies and thought those are okay. Those are I like those yet. Didn't make me want to watch star trek anymore. But I enjoyed those you know. She's not for me but I love Star Wars and if you don't like Star Wars. Hey whatever be you do be yourself be happy and don't put other people down if they're being themselves you know and I say that meaning look very creepers You put them down. He put down a bad person. You can put down a crappy person. No giving her A. But it's okay if someone like something you don't WanNa trying to say but man so I'm not China dwell too much on it. 'cause there's others do it so much better than me. But there's this cool little figure series of Star Wars going to take a few minutes to speak about here that no one ever talks about because it's nothing really to talk about you know but I had bottom five below this past winter. It's a discount Store series of figures. And you know if they can sell it with star wars on it. They're going to nets. I love that personally. You guys probably know by now. I'm a sucker for things like you know. Movie Titans and Snack Food and all that crap will hold on one. Second data. Seasonal allergies are saying. Hi One moment. Wow I got away from the MIC. Hopefully I wasn't too loud That was not really seasonal allergies. That maybe it is. That was straight up allergies because it's spring goodness. Well this of course discount toy lines available you know you can go to your dollar general and they got those cool lil little soft vinyl action figures of Marvel and Star Wars and whatever characters those Herat. She picked him up but these were. I got these five below and each figure was. I got the price tag here in this box. I'm looking at three twenty five there. He's a little not quite three inch. Figurines of course star. Wars the bucks. The car just says Star Wars. It's got solid white card with Darth vader in the top corner. Hasbro made them you know. They're obviously discount store line things but I've always seen them at five below. Maybe you've seen him other places. There is basic figurines and in a series. You Got Darth vader. Joe Baca Luke skywalker and a stormtrooper. These are original saga themed. I don't know if they've done. I don't think they've done any more runs of these. I had. These are the only ones I've ever seen. I haven't seen I haven't seen them producing an e for any of the other moves or whatever or maybe this is the beginning of it and maybe later put some more offer like say man delorean or clone wars or whatever. Maybe you know I I definitely would like one of these kylo Ren of really like I really like the first resistance. As is you know but They're they're basically PVC figurines Darth vader and Luke skywalker got a little bit of assembly to do. You've got to stick their lightsaber blade into their lightsaber. When you open it up but aside from that they're static non articulate action figures. I'm actually planning to. I'll post pictures on my instagram later today. I don't know when this episode will go up. I've gotTa when I upload it to actually what I'll do is I put it. I put it up to kilby. No there's one ready and when he gets time he makes it available. You know it's kind of way things go when you're working and stuff. You don't always get to do it right off as soon as you'd like to but I'm going to post these on my instagram person. I've been meaning to do it for a while. I just haven't thought today it would be a good data. Post them you know. They're just these great figurines. They're pretty well. Sculpted NICELY. Painted in holding shocking. Now he's got a little heft to a super heavy hitters. They'll figurines not concrete blocks or black series or whatever. They're just cool. Things may be stick on your desk or would me. We're fixing to move. I think I mentioned it last episode. You know removing in June and wife and I will have her own little separate rooms to put for hobby and you know like she'll have her like she likes to craft and stuff like that so chevron she can do all that and of course. I'm a room for a good bit of my toys. Go in not all of them. We're GONNA allow them. We're going to go. We have a garage and we got some. We got some storage space her new place. Oh we'll go into storage space and then a good bit of Mogo course into the room with some shelves and all that and I have multi V and my micro consoles must switch. You're probably go in the living room. Still it travels back and forth all over the place you know but like my macro consoles micro consoles hooked.

"squadron" Discussed on I Read Comic Book

"Of the least confusing aspects of this reading journey and the way they drew sort of the ghostly tie pilot helmets. It's over their faces. When they're in the cockpit I thought was a nice touch? Yeah the comic had some really great moments I think I think my critique for the comic Amac is that I actually wanted it to be longer and overlap. More with the plot of alphabet squadron. One Percent Yeah like there I ah I was just kind of waiting like Like I see so many places where both of these books and them as a cohesive of unit could have worked better like the characters and alphabet. Squadron were interesting you just couldn't really tell because the writer kept like shoveling in a bunch of extra like nonsense around them like like one of the okay so one of the characters name so I actually remember because it's like so mono-syllabic Salambek wars so star Wars Chaz net shattuck and Chaz is lake AAC. She's she's a female pilot. She's got like green hair. I think and she loves listening to music while she's fighting among which cool fine but the writer would like go into detail about exactly what kind of song she was selecting for like every single time time she changed the song and I'm like Bra. I don't need to know none of this information is relevant to me and you're distracting me from the action at hand mean mean anything because none of these are genres we have on earth so there is just okay. I will say this. If you are a reader who does want to know little nitty gritty stuff like that to get a a more Let's be generous. Is here and say a token esque reading experience. You can go ahead and read this book but I did feel like you almost couldn't see the forest for the trees at certain points like so okay again. Full spoilers when we get towards the end of Alvis Squadron they're attacking King the shadow squadron like strongholds and all of a sudden everything's on fire like an entire planet is on fire and I like didn't unnoticed that that was happening because so many other details were happening and like if a whole planets on fire fire everyone should be freaking out but instead it was just like what everyone's wash. Yeah that that detail that should have. I've got been much more important than the other. Details was just kind of thrown at you with a handful of other things and so it didn't really i. Should've I guess it. I guess I could be generous. And make the argument of the author wanted to reflect the a chaos and fog of war but I as a reader should know if all of a sudden. Everything's burning you. No I appreciate. Get your continued attempts at generosity. Makes me feel more comfortable about being kind of a prickly bastard about it I have to give people the benefit of the doubt or else. What are we even doing here? You're right like we're not trying to dunk unduly on these books like we're just there's there's so much potential that I don't think books lived up to and I think that's why it hurts so much. No one hates star wars more than Star Wars fans. There is so much coaching here. That's good and could be expanded on. But I felt like they expanded on the things that weren't as interesting. And it's a shame and there's some there's some Like I'm like I'm just mad because it could have been so good and I also you have some further questions so So a Brian and I have both seen and loved a star wars clone wars and Star Wars rebels and one of the characters in Star Wars rebels who you also meet in a new dawn. I think was the books name is Harrison Dula and you get to hear for General Cinderella being called during rogue one but So Harris shows up in alphabet squadron. And she's general and you find out that she was at indoor and she she actually has kind of a big role towards the end of this book but they like. Don't mention stuff about her. That would be really important to know like. Where's her kid at no point? Do they mention her kid. And I'm like should I worried. Is He like New Republic Daycare die and she's just not talking about it. Did we forget that she has a child. Like what. Where is this adorable that all have tweeted calf human toddler decorate like I? I'm concerned now. Like where is this. Kid was Jason. They named Jason Right. I forgot I just know that green hair and I was like who is that. How those genetics combined a star wars and star wars doesn't care? I want you to be you better so if you were gonNA. You'RE GONNA fix alphabet squadron anti fighter. How would you do it okay? I would make tie fighter our overlap with a squadron at the very least for The parts where we're seeing in the character whose name is will we'll lark so we'll lark one of the pilots on Alphabet Squadron and he he is prior to joining alphabet squadron. He's part of another squadron who is basically obliterated except for him by shadow squadron. And there's this it's like one of the most impact like memorable. Parts of Alphabet squadron for me is when will and his former squad are kind of drifting rafting through this weird like galactic missed applicant Nebula or something. Yeah so they're basically like in stasis waiting for visibility ability to get better and they're just like chilling and talking on their car bombs and he's just like flips open his calm to be like an open channel two at like everything around and he's basically like hey shadow squadron We're getting bored and we're betting you're getting bored too so I don't know somebody tell these something surprise me and then there's like radio silence for awhile and then one one of the shadow squadron. People does reply and is basically like. You're dying here will lark and I was like Oh so when I was reading the The book I was expecting that moment to be shown to us in the fight or comic but from the imperial perspective like who said that to him. I would like to know and you could see like what was the tie chatter going on at the same time while will and his buddies were chatting like that would have been a really interesting perspective shift but they just didn't do it why not Brian. I don't know that that's the exact same see in the Admi- uh just like how good Beatles find out which one of them was being such an a-hole the will work with such a boy. He just wants to go home home. Go Home I did. I did appreciate. AH AT THE END OF alphabet Squadron. When he's like I just want to go home but these assholes are going to blow themselves up if I don't stick around to take care of them? Well you're probably right. You're also like twenty to a little baby and Another part where I would have wanted to see overlap as this whole lake friggin fireball. Seen like I thought again wall I say breeding but I was listening to the Audio Book. of Alphabet Squadron. It's like all of a sudden everything's things on fire and Erica quoque that's open calms. And she's like everyone. This is a rescue mission. I don't care what side you're on but we gotta save these people who are about to get burned alive and so the t you do see in the novel that the ties are helping to kind of blast the things that might explode neck so that they can kind of control. It's like a controlled burn situation. They're going for and but you just you don't know what's going on the on the fact that you see from the perspective of Alphabet squadron that some of the ties are contributing to this effort so I thought before reading tie fighter that tie fighter would have covered that from their perspective. And maybe some some of the internal Arguments over there com channels being like. Why are you helping them? Well you know what the right this is garbage we seeing more more of the nuance there. Yeah whatever sent agree. Let's do better star wars. Yeah Yeah Yeah this was. This was a rare miss. We're going to call it a companion novel. It's got a companion a little bit one thing that did annoy me about this. Is that For the last tab of Alphabet Squadron Chestnut just keeps going on and on and on about journal or so and how she wants to be like her and so it's like it's really obvious that Chazan and check has kind of like a martyrdom death wish situation going on but the author repeated this idea so often with basically see the same words that I got kind of sick of it. Like I'm like okay. I get it you really really dig Jenner so you like saw her one time and it really impacted you and somehow you've got it into your head that you have to like essentially died in order for this to be the best outcome and I'm going to need you to calm down and also a good ending this writer to trust the reader a little bit. Yeah yeah except that. We're going to remember it. You know at least after the second or third time. Here's my question Brian. Since this since for alphabet squadron at least it's supposed to be a trilogy what could possibly happen so my my hope what I would want them to do would be for the entire second book to be from the perspective of shadowing coming like the the first book was entirely mouth that squadrons perspective now I WANNA see shadowing for book and then the third book we catella go back and forth. I like it I could see would do you think that if done well a companion comic I would add to the sequel for this book or Now oh absolutely yeah. I mean as as long as they actually interact in some way like as long as they're touching on like different aspects of the same events or you know if the if the next comic is what gives gives us that fireball. Seen from alphabet squadron. Or something I think that it could be great. They just have to actually link them together. Somehow do a Disney. We know you're listening. Lease aright final thoughts. On this Crossover Crossover Brian. Yeah wasted potential.

"squadron" Discussed on Radio Free Cybertron - All of our Transformers podcasts!

"As optimus primal later in the armada energy on cybercrime cartoons. He was often sprite but here in beast wars he was directed by a Friday to thirteenth alumni. Here's where it gets funny now. He started in a Freddie versus Jason movie in fact the Freddie Versus Jason Jason Movie which came out in two thousand three. He played sheriff. You played the town sheriff. I have his name. My notes are not at hand right now. I'm so sloppy this he played the town's sheriff where the whole Freddie versus Jason Jason Shenanigans is going on. I was prepared to tell you that part. You probably already know that that's another one of those not as pretty well known factoid when it comes to this stuff what I just realized was and I wish out realized that earlier talk of works at my notes a little better Friday the thirteenth part seven was originally intended to be a Freddie versus Jason Movie And in those initial movie you got the aridity. There's the first steps are all the legal ease the script writing studios the back and forth and all that that's going back and forth forever until movie actually starts being worked on okay it was intended to be Freddie versus Jason Movie Terms Cubby met and somehow got made into a teen psychic versus Jason Movie go figure that one of the stars of what was supposed to be the Freddie versus Jason Movie later voice directed a guy who's one of the stars in the actual Freddie versus Jason. Sometimes things just work out in a very funny manner. Don't they now. Here's another bit of comedy about that. In Freddie versus versus Jason. We had a cameo appearance by one actor. Who Do we just had a small. Maybe Cameo appearance. That actor's name is Scott Ward. I know that names not flipping anything off in your head right now now. He's been in a lot of things but I'm GONNA get to white is it's funny how this worked out. Scott Ward had a small cameo role just based on his just based on his nominee as an actor or whatever you know nominee that's not the right word is based small cameo role. He was free for versus versus Jason a few years later. Scott Ward was into transformers two thousand seven movie playing one of the military personnel well. That's pretty cool but why is that so ironic just other than an actor was in a Jason Movie and then later transformers movie like like I said these things happen you know the these voice actors or actors water Aaron million productions and there's probably a ton of 'em. I'm not bringing up right now just because of the fact how things work. I don't know everything who knows maybe some best boy or a boom. MIC operator was on and all of them. You know I don't know but anyway. This guy was in a small cameo role in Freddie versus Jason and then a few years later one to military personnel in the transformers two thousand seven movie but what makes that so funny remember they were how I just said. Gary Chalk was Freddie versus. Jason will years later down the row. Gary Chalk was in a direct. DVD movie sequel to a popular all-time movie now the movie. I'm talking about how is Christmas Carol. Christmas Carol of course is a classic movie Ralphie wanting to Red Ryder. Bb Gun for Christmas and it's actually has other sequels. It's actually part of a series. You could google that if you like. I'M NOT GONNA get into all of it. Well there was a direct the DVD's sequel movie not tied into the original source material aside from Christmas story address. You know Christmas story part two would ralphie being older teenager wanting a car for Christmas. That's and to draw comparisons to the original movie. He has a Christmas break job working as an Elf for the Mall Santa. We all remember to Santa Cena Christmas story so Gary Chalk Place Senate that now why is that so ironic and funny. Will you see Zack Ward. Guy Was just mentioning he you Scott Farkas in the original Christmas story. You know the bully who was like terrorizing them in Ralphie. beat the crap out of that guy he was afraid versus Jason he was in transformers and he was Christmas story. That's weird. That's just kind of weird. How these things work out isn't it now it just kind of ironic due to away. These things work out. That was weird to me. I was just like I. I didn't even mean to do that. One what was going on was I was just kind of glancing over some of these things and I was looking at Gerry chalks character on the cast list and I said to myself hey that guy looks familiar because what I was going to do. I I made notes for this episode that like right now. I can't find and it was basically the sheriff's last. I don't think it Sheriff Marshall Who Gary Chalk Plate and I saw the scots like hey he looked familiar and clicked and they're one of the listings was transformer and riot top with Scott Fergus so that was an accidental one right there at all making notes for I didn't make the most comprehensive of notes best trying to get some of them and that was one of them now to end this one out. I'm going to talk about probably the most direct crossover and a real reason. I was clicking transfers two thousand seven listing because I wanted to get the characters name right see the transfers two thousand seven movie character named Trent DeMarco played by sure hold on one second. Pardon me I had a coughing fit for some reason those allergies won't Act Otamendi hit record the Trent demarco was played by Travis Van Winkle indie original coach transports two thousand seven movie. That was one of the reasons I was looking at the two thousand seven cast-list now the transformers two thousand seven movie is a production of platinum dunes entertainment platinum dunes is a production company owned by Michael Bay who made the transformers two thousand seven movie. He may also the Friday the thirteenth two thousand nine remake and two thousand ten nightmare on ELM street remake once again having and Freddy and Jason here in the same discussion but that's okay because it's the same. It's the same a chronological. It's the same cannon it's the same series series just a different bad guy in different parts of the world much like Captain America has to do with Red Skull and iron man had to deal with ironmonger in monger Freddy and Jason Exist in the same fictional setting okay before I get more into Travis Demarco Marco until you guys a funny story. I found out years ago that nightmare ELM street two thousand ten remake. Make didn't have Robert England playing Freddie Krueger as normally you know he's getting a little older they decided to recast them and they picked Jackie Jackie Earle Haley who you guys probably best know from Oh my Lord Africa the movie. The from the watchman will Jackie Earle Haley Played Freddy Kruger earlier in the eighties in the original dime round street. One of the stars was Johnny Depp Well. This is a funny story. Johnny Depp didn't intend tend to be in the movie he had went with his roommate too. The try-outs whose remit was an actor too and his roommate was trying out for the movie. The directors liked Johnny so much. They talked him into trying out and he got a role. We know who's roommate was Jackie Earle Haley who played for a cruiser in the two thousand ten roommate so just by the way a pure luck would have it. The Guy Tried out for the original movie as a teenager to be one two teenage characters and then later was in the reboot as the main bad guy. It's funny how these things work out but it's super funny how these things worked out have is pointed out earlier with Sue Blue Gary Chalk and Scott Farkas you hear see Michael Bay produced a course the the bulk of the live action transformers movies. I I think he just has his name on the credits for the bumblebee movie as part of a contractor whatever I don't know how much he had to do without one liquids Michael Bay his producer third rector records the live action movies his Phillips one of his little studios makes these are remakes they made the Texas chainsaw massacre remake and the Jason remaking all countries mentioned big whoop right. That's just you know. The Guy Likes to make money. Obviously who cares right well that Travis Van Winkle Mhm who was in two thousand seven transformers movie playing Trent DeMarco. If you guys don't remember well you guys remember the jerk in high school that was made to Sheila booth the Megan Fox's original boyfriend or I guess she was hanging around him. She might not have been his girlfriend a friend but she sure was pretty much paired up with him. At the beginning you know he was picking on Shiloh boo for whatever and she ended up leaving her to write off a Shiloh booth hair at that cool all seen and all you got. You got showed up their full that guy the jerk bully cool guy character. Trent DEMARCO. That was the characters name. Why am I pointing that out in two thousand nine okay two movies came out in two thousand nine. Well a Lotta movies did but in two thousand nine the Friday the thirteenth remake came out and then revenge of the fallen transformers partout came out later that summer in fact while you're watching into Friday the thirteenth into theater you likely saw a trailer for revenge fallen I know I did. That's just the way movies work of course will hey. Michael Bay directed one one of his production companies and then later his production company and did you guys notice if your ear nose in the transformers movies a lot of the side characters don't come back. You know it's Shiloh booths friend part one. It wasn't impart to his friend for part. Two was an import three very shallow buffet. Does an empire for you know that sort of thing you know. Megan Fox just vanished and part part three. You know these are things the we've all all discussed the movies rather all these things about the moves. I'm not gonNA say faults just enough people that said already will the trend. DEMARCO guy sure didn't show back up and rented a fallen diddy. Trent DeMarco Travis Van Winkle played the character of Trent demarco and fry thirteen two thousand nine. He played the exact same character who spoiler. It's a decade year old movie got murdered erred so the at least. DEF- reboot Friday the thirteenth from two thousand nine is in the same actual capacity the of the live action movies he played the same guy wasn't just the same actor. He played the same guy. Now I know some you could point will will. There's nothing solid concrete shut up Trenton. Tomorrow was killed by Jason after being a jerk Sheila booth he made fun of Bumblebee and Jason Killed Him that had happened so that's the most concrete Friday thirteen ain't crossover being that in a semi sort of way the move some of the movies are connected funny now. It's not concrete. I know it's just could have been just the they're like hey he's in this movie to listening his character that he played the same ain't sort of upper-class popular kid you know they obviously they just did it for Ngok. Whatever but dude the guy who was a jerk. Trent demarco totally got murdered by chason before part to ever happened..
