"Money minute. Pink Floyd has maintained its popularity attracting 15 and a half million monthly listeners on Spotify. So why is the band having so much trouble turning its music catalog into? Seeking at least $500 million. On top of that, Pink Floyd just can't get on the same page in fighting and strained relationships might make it impossible to get a deal done. Case in point, former singer and bassist Roger Waters, who once sued his bandmates, including David Gilmour. David thinks he owns it. I think he thinks that because I left the band of 1985 that he owns Pink Floyd that he is Pink Floyd. I'm irrelevant, and I should just keep my mouth shut. Pink Floyd's inability to get along could be the single biggest reason why it can't strike a catalog deal, one that could be among the most lucrative in history following the sale of Bruce Springsteen's music at a reported $550 million plus deal to Sony

What Is Joe Rogan's Podcast Controversy Really About?

"What's the controversy over Joe Rogan's podcast really all about? Now, Joe Rogan is, well, he's not a conservative. He is a fellow who doesn't go with the establishment. He's a fellow who asks questions. He's a fellow who likes to learn, he puts guys on his podcast, he doesn't mind putting guys from widely across the political spectrum. It's not clear what Joe Rogan's own politics are at one point I think he said he voted for why I wanted to vote for Bernie Sanders. I know that he wasn't an enthusiast of Biden. In fact, he memorably described Biden as going with Biden as kind of going on a hike with a guy with a very dim lightbulb that was about to go out. Flashlight. And this is the intolerable Ness if I can coin a word of Joe Rogan is that he doesn't play from the official, while sheet music. And this is why the left is determined to get him. He also has a wide reach of big influence the number one podcast really in the country. And so they want to bring Joe Rogan to heal. And this all started with a couple of hundred medical professionals and now some of them were just med students. This wasn't really the best and the brightest of the medical community, but nevertheless, they dash off this letter to Spotify, Joe Rogan is putting out misinformation, I guess this has to do with Rogan's interview with Malone, the virologist and the epidemiologist who is a partial inventor of the mRNA technology. And this is a guy who Malone, who's not, again, on board with the CDC on COVID. And so they want to get Joe Rogan's podcast pulled off of Spotify. And then Neil Young, the musician jumped on board and goes, I'm gonna pull my music from Spotify and Spotify is like, okay, and now others have piled in Joni Mitchell, apparently Bruce Springsteen Crosby, Stills & Nash. Now, if you notice most of these guys are like 75 year old rockers, we're not talking here about the biggest stars of music today. They've been a little bit silent about all this, but this pressure from the left for these people to join in. At one point, I saw something with the effect of the obamas are now using their leverage with Spotify to pull

"Use the door. Which else why. That isn't on t shirts for pride. I'll never know giggle. Said i'll find somebody can make them. Maybe but like you know so could make them exactly but you know the mom doesn't like him. The dad doesn't like him. No one understands rosie. You know she wants to be with him but her parents don't approve. I mean it's just it's all so easily translatable for me into my own experiences plus it's a very fun song and i love listening to it. Perfect and and i do agree. And i'm telling you sign me up if you get shirts I will pay for one. Because i agree. That sounds perfectly the rainbow colors. I think that would be perfect. Right open closet door. Maybe get bruce. Speaking out yeah. Let's let's find a graphic artist. I may yeah. i'll ask around. Yeah that sounds great Mark how about you. I know it's already been mentioned a couple of times At i thought it would need close debate. Everybody's number one in. It's just prove how different we all hear things. And how many great songs there are. But i definitely had to go with the promised. Land as the number one song. If for me it might be the number one song he has maybe most important song that he has just. I mean she and i think he believes it to. He plays it all the time. He plays it on broadway. He plays it with the eastern man. It closed basically all of the acoustic shows on the tom and devils and dust. He thinks it's important. I think bruce believes that it sums up what he's trying to say better than any other song And you guys had mentioned some of these points just the idea that life is hard but you have to keep going forward you have to keep going I'll just hit two specific. Explain wise because some of the you Job already talking about it. And you mentioned specifically the iena boy. Now i'm a man and i believe in promised land. It's the idea there when you really step back from. I'm not a boy. I'm a man what he's really saying is i'm important. I'm somebody stop treating me like that and the biggest piece of it is i matter. A little boy may be doesn't have quite the importance. A grown man is supposed to be respected and looked at with pride An adult this guy is saying. I'm here right now. I'm trying i matter. So it's it's it's as good a line as in any song and then i'll last piece. Because like i said they did such a good job with it already. But the imagery of tornado of a twister. He says it's going to be a twister to blow everything down And then the next line is that ain't got the faith to stand his grip. Not even a tornado has enough faith to stand up to how i feel about this subject about how i feel right now. And he doesn't just stand there and say i'm going to do my best. He says i'm going to blow this tornado away. I'm gonna blow away the dreams tear you apart gonna blow away the things that break your heart leave you with nothing lead you lost and broken hearted. He's not saying. I'm gonna just try. I'm going to blow this thing up and it's it's defiant and prideful As anything he's ever done it might be. That's bruce springsteen saw.

I didn't know your dad. I didn't hardly knew him because he was never sick. And then something like this happened in it very very close to my heart. That song salami didn't for a long time. I think quite actually understand what it was about. I think i said in an idea. Podcast i was on if you just see different interpretations of it but in the you get the more you realize and then now i'm also thinking of im- iron as being so a story of my own life as well you ford thinking. I'm modest person. He's so of wasting their life away not having wasting to harsher word but it could've been doing something different What what's the end your weight wage. You get to the end. What's what's gonna be the was going to be a reward at the individual surveys. You know it's a bit like maybe the promised land in a in a way you you carry on working iping. Some reward at the end beaten at quantum is not recent at. It's yeah it's great. Just print that that whole actually tunnel of love is a brilliant album Songwriting is strong. It really it really is an in well said i appreciate that and i think all of us that have lost a parent have that ceiling at time so Thank you for sharing. And and so i just one other thing is you said you'll father. She passed away nine eleven. My father passed away on the twenty second of july. Which was the two thousand five. And then that's the same date that was that massacre in norway on the island. I think that was in twenty eleven or twenty twelve. Just to just a coincidence that is bella. your number one. I'm sorry to take assume something so silly after all serious but My number one is rosalita. It is not only. Is it such a fun party song and love seeing it live I promised myself. I wouldn't make every single song gay. But i- rosalita is one of the bruce springsteen song that i think is really translates well onto being gay and the gay experience Not just because of the line closets her hangers winners..

"Say rosalita was didn't quite make my top five. It was what one of the Once it got up to sort of came in and went out came went out but eventually may Used to be. I think it's probably just because i've heard it so much. Compared to some of the songs that have picked. It was one of the first early songs that i liked when i got Live nine hundred. Seventy five to eighty five before i Bowed out innocent Well you know this is fantastic song and it still is. You know stood his. But i guess it may be just doesn't it. I just get the same meaning from the from the other songs. And jesse i used to hate the song hungry heart like when i was just listening to it and i saw him for the first time i saw him do hungry. Heart house This is a great song. I love this song. Isn't that funny that you could do that. That's that's a great story about hungry odds. Firstly what am i. To- suspense is a big boost. Found who's one of the people. I always go to see bruce with. He's a really big. He's quite a big guy. Heavy metal kind of luck and so and he told me that hungry heart he added in pub when it first came out and he loved it. And that's what got him into. Bruce and i just wanted really strange that this guy is really into the rock music. It was one of versus most poppy songs that i got him got his attention. The other thing about it is that i used to have a cd player that seemed to hate hungry hops. Now i had found like all of us. I don't know how many different cd's that hungry heart is one of the tracks. But no matter which one i put in the cd player it would always stop developing folks and skipping and jumping around when it got hung up on. And i don't know why. Oh that's great. That's everything good anything else for you. Move on all right. I'll start us off number. Three rosalita You know it is a great song. Lives it. Is there a sense of joy when the band plays it..

"Kind of the middle ground between the guy that was on greetings because all of that word innis is still here and then the guy that really found his voice when he talked about born to run that. That's when this guy really figured out who. He was how he saying how he wrote songs. There's a little bit of both of that is the before and the after in rosalita clearly it became kind of a live staple and probably in those early shows that i don't think any of saw One of the most important parts of the night closed the show for years and years and years lyrically because it is so wordy and you know maybe the messy. I think some people you know give it. Maybe not the serious look. They should but if you go deep towards the end of the song. He says oncoming deliberate. You confiscate you. I wanna be your man someday will look back on this and it will all seem funny and of people. Throw that line around really if you. That's the same conversation that's being had thunder road you know on the next record. He saying it a little different and maybe a little more fun and maybe even a little less serious but that's the same wording that we get in thunder road. I think the song just has to be here. The other thing that i most recently noticed about rosalita was. I was lucky. Enough to go back to Broadway a couple of weeks ago and There's simply again what. I was kind of considered a throwaway line. But he says pop is on the corner waiting for the bus mama. She's home the window waiting up for us. I never saw that really until rodway show. But there's his dad out in the corner ready to hit the town get away from all of them and there's his mom home waiting to help to be something for them to be close to them. I have no idea how intentional that was all those years ago. But i see it today and i think i probably only see because of the way. He talked about his dad with broadway. Show gosh gaffe. Great choice and i really. That's an interesting thought about that I'll rosalita makes it a little bit higher on my list So i did buy fourth was hungry. Heart it. Is you know i i. It was really the first song of bruises that reached by consciousness. After a linda's friend. Lisa had talked about this. She was going to school in the east coast. And she came back and talking about the singer named bruce springsteen and then the radio and so I it's. It's a favorite song. I love when they do it live. I love how you know. They started the tradition of him forgetting the lyrics and everyone singing the first verse You know he'll crowd surf often and And i often when. I'm in a bad lace like when i'm visiting my family and And they've as much as you love your family often. They can get up to here and for those of you. Who are listening. I'm putting my head up to my. Is you know where you know. A i often quote that first line and kind of like getting the car on never combat So that's why made for me so I love all your choices before we go to three. Anyone wanna comment Once again i. I'm going to do this each time. Kind of thoughts on other people's choices are songs. Chris you've now picked two of mine that were in. My runner-up said i really thought about putting the floor of the five..

"Home and the whole idea of a bad in this case could just as easily be riverbed or a place where that river ends near where you go and you could spend almost every single lyric to either be about meeting that some wonder finding that someone again or simply just getting to the place where you're comfortable and home and feel good and i think once people see that other side of it. It's almost impossible to unsee it. So great song. I wish he played more. I think it begs for kind of a rock band treatments but lyrically. It's also one of the smartest things he's ever done. And i love it. I now want to go pause. Go play it in. Listen to the lyrics. I appreciate that bella. What's your number five So it was very hard to number five because there are a lot of songs on this list that you know. And like you're not my favorite. Bruce but i liked him well enough i ultimately went with. I'm on fire which is at a complicated song for me because it does fall into. What am i least favorite things. That bruce does which is the use of the braves little girl. I think it makes all of his songs. A hundred percent crappier when he uses it. But i will make an exception for island fire. Because i really like this song and lately. I don't know if any of these saw there was a review in pitchfork of born in the usa. Like a review of you know a a new person reviewing the album and it got me thinking about how i think born in the usa is really like two different albums you have the you know springsteen rockabilly america heritage part of boredom usa. And then i think you have the like secret disco born in the usa album. And i think i'm on fire fits into that. Category of and those are my favorite tracks on board in. Usa are all disco influenced. One so i ended up going with. I'm on fire extending. It's a very intriguing in sexy love song. I said in the past that there is a fifty percent chance. If you throw a dollar into the tip jar of a singer like someone playing at a bar and go. Can you do a bruce springsteen song fifty percent chance of it just feels like that's a basic song. Almost everyone knows it it is A great choice. At and i and i do agree. I do every time. I hear that. Hey little girl was your daddy home like okay. Yeah she she's twenty seven you know. Imagine How Pure We Could Be Without Instant Feedback

"I was watching an elvis presley documentary on netflix yesterday. And i think it was bruce springsteen who made the observation that elvis's early stuff like he's really really early stuff was truly special because it was pure and it was free at that point. He hadn't really heard himself on the radio very much and so he wasn't totally aware of what he was doing and how he was sounding he wasn't self conscious about it but of course as he hurt himself more he starts to analyze that more and review his performances more. And so you lose that spontaneity. You lose that purity. And what i found interesting about that was that we leave today. In a world of instant feedback and we sort of think that instant is good that that constant analytics of the data that we've got is great but maybe if you take the overtures example. Maybe it's actually holding us back. Maybe it's actually preventing us being pure us. And i think there's probably something in that

"The boss is helping bring back the lights of Broadway after being shut down for more than a year because of the pandemic, New York's theater district reopened with Bruce Springsteen on stage and NPR's Gile Snyder reports, Springsteen fans were ready. Fans lined up outside the ST James Theatre to see Bruce Springsteen kick off a 30 performance update of his solo show from 2017. Eastern Jordan was among them. It means a lot because it's history and people are going to get back to Broadway, people will come back to New York City and This is my city, and I'm thrilled that Bruce has decided to lead the charge back to Broadway. The Springsteen concert was the first show on a Broadway stage and 471 days, the longest shutdown in Broadway history. Other major productions are set to start up again in September, including Hamilton Wicked and The Lion King. Whats So Gratifying About Gossip?

"So let's talk about the upsides and downsides of gossip. I have read that. There is psychological research arguing. That gossip is really an elemental of humanity. Can you tell us about that. Strong arguments i think. Come from people who are evolutionary psychologists and the functional purpose of gossip ease. Scientists would argue. Is that. it's the communication of very important information for example. If you are gossiping about people that are at your office. You know who's really enemies with whom and what they said. That's inside information. That could be helpful. You know who to avoid you know who to ally yourself with because we are social species. Gossip is a way that we can get and give valuable information at relatively low cost. What sort of information is us. Weekly delivering to you. Because it's not information about people you know or that you'll interact with. I think this question is good in that. If i'm not getting information about anybody might direct social network. I'm getting information about you. Know bruce springsteen how's is that helpful to me. He might run into some time because he's another jersey guy lesser run into respraying stein. I don't think i will. So the question is what function could gossip have. It could be that we have this instinct gossip that is being played out in the form of reading us weekly but actually that's not good for us. It's just that we have this evolutionary conserved tennessee. You know much like craving for fat salt and sugar had its origins kind of getting us into a lot of trouble right now. So you don't have to actually have a function which is contemporary for reading. These gossip rags. But you're making an argument against your consumption of gossip. Well okay but here's an argument for it and this plausible. This was made by roy. Meister in kathleen vossen their collaborators and they argued. That gossip is a form of cultural. Learning where these anecdotes say. You read a story about jaylo. Reuniting with ben affleck. And you get this little snippet of what people are saying about it and what they've said that in this story of these two people that you will probably not meet. You are getting social rules in narrative

"From one. I'm david brown. And this is business. Wars daily on this monday march. Eight jeep is having a tough time of late. I it's super bowl ad. Featuring bruce springsteen came under fire for a mistake that left out a third of michigan on a map and also for not being more religiously inclusive then jeep stopped running the ad after it became public that springsteen had been arrested for driving under the influence. The charges against the boss were dismissed in february and then came a phone call from the chief of the cherokee nation and he had a big ask stop using the tribes name on jeep. Suv's the company has used some version of the name cherokee on its vehicles. For more than four decades after a hiatus jeep introduced its mid sized cherokee suv to the market roughly eight years ago and the jeep grand cherokee has been a perennial favorite among those seeking more spacious. Ride over the years. The company has faced criticism for using the tribes name. But this is the first time. The native american nation has directly called on the automaker to remove the tribal name from its vehicles. It all started when car and driver magazine reached out to the tribe for a comment about the use of the name in light of a new grand cherokee model being introduced the principal chief of the cherokee nation chuck in junior replied via a written statement to the magazine. That said quote. I'm sure this comes from a place that is well intended but it does not honor us by having our name plastered on the side of a car the chief has called on jeep to stop using the tribes name on its. Suv's the company has used the name for more than forty five years including onto suv's but it has said that it will enter dialogue with the tribe about the matter. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Cultural sensitivity to the misuse of names and imagery is running high right now. In recent years atlanta lakes has removed the image of a native american woman from its packaging after years of criticism. The washington football team was renamed. Guys of expressing levi. What were your thoughts about the commercial and it's a safe place. You're okay to say he didn't like it. I liked it. I saw the whole message of the middle. I kind of expressed this to you in an email that yes i look at it more being a metaphor for being linked to put yourself out there and talk to someone that you do not agree with and i i just based this on my own experience of being one of only two or three progressive or liberal inside my own family in so when i go home i i am far outnumber around the dinner table or if we have other family over like right before the the election the weekend before it was like fifteen two one one else versus me but if i wasn't willing to sit down and try to engage with someone that i completely disagree with and it's not sometimes it's not even a disagreement saying well i don't even think this is a political issue. This is this is hate verses luck. But i am still willing to put myself out there to engage with someone in the hopes that maybe there's some either big change incremental change. That can happen. And i think it's a very idealistic thing. And that to me that tracks. With bruce springsteen is you know You kind live living for your better. I don't know you feel but yet when you're like just been You know twelve hours with somebody just like you're constantly with that person you it's a really intense experience and you feel like oh we've had You know the the shared experience and we really know one another so there. I think the balance of people were a little upset with me but he was totally cool about it so well. I have a theory that he's ready to be a grandfather. I think that's why he has the kids saying waiting on a sunny day. I think that's why like during the last tour. He signed that kids permission. Slip like you know. Please excuse them from. "Show in that visit correct. Yeah i'm an america. It gives you a bit a bit history. I guess a bit of context. So if you look at nineteen seventy five. Because i'm sure you know folks in the states if the nfl The reading up on this going. What was the fuss about. But if you look at uk. Music in one thousand nine hundred wall in the uk in the mid seventies was in a pretty tough place with a three day weeks of his so economically in that there was an awful lot of tension in the in the country but the music business basically the with three music magazines though is melody maker which had come from the old sort of jazz side of things that was an emmy or the new musical express which had come from all from the outside side and there was a new magazine sand. So those those three and anyone who is interested in music. Read won- or more of those magazines. And i'd say that because they were incredibly influential. And then you've got. The bbc is the national broadcaster. And there was a goal john who was simply very influential and the final piece of the jigsaw. If you look at it the sex pistols released their first single one year in two days after the show and the reason. I say that is in one thousand nine hundred five. The the music labels were pumping out it was. It was the era of yes and topographic pay and pink floyd and all of this over the top progressive stuff which by the way i loved but there was a real backlash emerging against that against the record companies basically telling people what they should like into that and the reason i mentioned the sex pistols was really was the start of punk coming and punk was a whole rebellion against so in the middle of all that sort of million that's going on. Cbs decide that they are in the uk that they are going to do. These mega hype. Campaign about bruce springsteen and jon landau i've seen the future of rock and roll and then there was the big is london ready for bruce springsteen and all of this so bruce basically walked into this complete stole. It clearly wasn't prepared for where anybody and i include myself i loved. I liked greetings. I loved the wild. The innocent east street shuffle in born to run came out late august and the was like will. This is very different and it was clearly a bid for stardom so there was a whole sort of backlash against. Who is this guide. Cbs are trying to push down throats and he turns up at hammersmith. Odeon the signs up everywhere which famously rips down and as you say. They've released the album. They released the dvd. The myth became the springsteen bombed. And i think he thought he'd bombed now. I mentioned john peel. I can remember listening to john. Peel the night after the first show and he came on and it was from liverpool. I maybe talk. I went to see this. Bruce springsteen person that's not that's birmingham ex-interior anita to stop that. But he basically said. I went to see this bruce springsteen last night and to my surprise he actually wasn't bad into jump hilton even played something of the while the innocent but there was this whole thing that the bruce bond and if you watch the dvd. It's not a bad show. But they do not look comfortable. They placed a fall too fast eight. It's certainly not one of the highlights. They then went off to sweden to think to shows and they then came back six days later to do this show and i'll stop there because until this came out i had never heard this on. I'm keen to get your view. And then i'll give you my but that's that's the sort of history but as far as they were concerned. This was ninety-two almost a week. Later and in the first show they really had not conquered london in fact quite the opposite so i really loved hearing this and partly because there is a couple of guys that do Springtime for spring scene which is an excuse for their podcasts. Basically for them just to joke and laugh around and like one of their early early shows because neither one of them are big spring stein's springsteen fans they said the east band should just be a cover band. They are so fantastic. They should just tour and do nothing but covers. And i'm just laughing at the absurdity of this and they're they are very much talking cheek but when i hear all these covers on this. This band was having a blast. And if the reason i want an archive is for songs. I don't normally have. This is the mother lode of and it just seems like you know. In this modern era right they have stump the band and they're doing signs and you feel like they're just looking like hey steven what we wanna play next. I don't know you wanna do wear my rank sure. Let's do that a clearance. What do you like. I love when you walk into the room okay. Let's do that. There is an maybe they just didn't give enough well Well honestly i am so pleased on so please about two things. Warn the u pick because that's my view and to my view because also you look at the first show with sixteen songs and that was pretty typical for shows of those times twenty two songs and i think the uncall- and particularly the seven cover version. I think he's you know what my head. That's them going okay. We made it to london. We've made it thomas odium. We may never be back. We are going out on a high. We are just going to play. We're going to go out organs. I've i think the whole show is organs. Blazing i think they're proving appoint but most importantly for me the first hammersmith show. I don't enjoy watching kids. you can feel the tension. Where is this just feels like having an absolute ball. It gets better and better better. I absolutely agree. And the other thing i thought of. I have an episode coming up pretty soon a A singer songwriter. Emily catcher she is from liverpool and they record company reached out and said hey she has a new album coming out a new single. Would you wanna talk to her and you know. May i love talking to anyone like yes so we had a lovely time. She's she's like nineteen and she talked about growing up in liverpool. You better be careful. If you're doing a beatles cover she says you can do other covers and you could do original music but if you bring out a beatles cover. They says he says you can picture them folding their arms and going okay really prove me something and um now i'm sure bruce is saying twisted shout as a nicely brothers cover absolutely absolutely. I just i agree. I thought it was fun. I i love the acoustical thunder road i just think that is one of the highlights of the original amherst with when i got that. I just loved him. You know playing piano and talking about that. It's so funny. Because at this point you know tenth avenue freeze out in born to run or just new songs. They're working on. I'm going to run still needs some work. 'cause that's a shaky i always all eight was. It was probably the born in the usa before they actually learn.

"Badlands is bond storming and my personal favorite. Well i've got to devils arcade. I think if we did an episode on underrated songs by bruce springsteen that would be right near the top of my list. My first ever show in the pit was in cardiff in two thousand and nine. I think he was on. I remember just. It felt like. I've been hitting stomach by that song. I mean it was just incredibly powerful and moving and then long walk. Home is probably my favorite song of the post reunion era. So a great finish and then a fairly. The bank street is is a good version but i firmly standard close rambled in so lots lots lots to like. However and it's really interesting. You think this is a setup but you saying the voice was a bit thin on saturday night. Live vocally. And i don't know i have been retentive enough to go back. I'm listening to hold shows. But i've listened instance to numerous versions of radio. Nowhere of the magic tour vocally. I don't know whether he was struggling. Not night. I don't know whether it's something they'd done with a mix because the other thing i will say is was all love stephen and when he puts his mind as he showed on his own solo shows and the river to he really can sing and harmonize but quite often. It's what my wife says. Steve's being enthusiastic again because he doesn't always hit it and it's there's a lot of that on this now i don't know whether that's the mix or i don't know whether bruce was strictly in that night and steve is trying to cover up and also realize it may just be me but it's one of those that the first time i listened to it was a and there's there's numerous out in the street a few sort of nc moments and of course now every time i'm listening to you. I'm just waiting for to spot something else. Whilst i'm glad it's in the collection i think i think this is a reminder that your podcast called bingos settling set listing is a great thing but it's not the performance so you look at this a set and i'm like brilliant listening to. It didn't quite work. So when i saw this i was very excited because in. We'll talk about this when we go to the next archive my obsession. Fandom came in the modern era. So i'm always partial to newer shows and Was excited to see magic. I do agree that the magic songs on this set list were my highlights. My downside is they did not do girls their summer clothes. I was very disappointed. Because that. And i work for my love are probably the two of my favorite songs on magic. And so i'm all in favor of your idea of if we're gonna do album show can you please do magic You know but i. But i think even those of us who think working on a dream is not a very strong album to have him do working on a dream in a row would be interesting just to hear all the songs done live. You don't normally get to hear yes. I was very happy with mary. Place did it. Is someone recently asked. What showed you want in the archive to be released. The nice said if i had any wish it would be my first show Dallas texas two thousand two on the rising tour. Because i would love to revisit that i live experience from now this with experienced eyes and ears of to give you a little background For a long complicated story. That is not worth repeating. We ended up getting in the car late at night from louisiana heading home and so we're in the car and i mention to limit. I said you know terry's going to call me anytime soon. I'm going to have to do this. Well it's you know it's like three or four weeks ago and she says well. This is a seven hour car. Ride just here you know. Let's put it on. And so i'm listening to it in the car stereo. And i'm like this is not a very and this is going to sound cheesy. It sounds live. It sounds almost like a really a bootleg. That's been copied buying copied. It did not have the clearness of many of the live shows. And so that's why. I don't know if it's versus voice. I don't know if it's the mix. But it was at times. I i would have to adjust the volume in the car in true. Our car speakers are not high. Hi fi but it is a pretty decent sound system. I'll tell you what your current cost. Because thirty years ago we'd have got really excited about. I was talking to someone for an episode coming up in january about born to run and as much as you love born around. It also means okay. We're getting toward the end of the set and in this case it really was the like. Wow he really waited till the end Then american land is a song that i just adore i. I love hearing that. I loved the introduction of the band and so that was nice. So i agree with you and one of the things that i when i'm looking at this before you and i started reviewing the as is i would pick well how many unique songs are on this right like. I'm sure the experience will be fun. But if i want just unique songs is they're worth in this in. This one was with all the magic. I was like. Okay yes. I want to hear these magic songs and it was a good set list as you said. I agree with you either. Because of the recording it was kind of. I don't know if i would go back and listen to this a lot. No and that's another measure as well that says when i look at the set list it should be will not. I would love to go by an i. I doubt by but hey that's we can't say everyone is fantastic. Just one quick one by the way jesse you saying about the latest stuff. I actually think when he turns again. Complete album shows are a possibility. I realized this isn't but it's a shame it was. It was a thing on twitter a few days ago i would love him to do a leg of the tour where he plays nothing pre reunion. Because i actually think the so much good material on this. You know you think about. When when they start touring how many of these magic songs will actually make it into a set list. My suspect it will be one a two and as as this does albeit favorite recording will mix. It made me go back and listen to the album again. And it's a grab you. And i've had this discussion because i've shared very early in the podcast. I had a guest. I said i would be thrilled with a set list. That started with tunnel love when forward and he said he would be happy with the set. That's that went from darkness. Went backwards. And i you know i get that but i think the rarity because we do get now we do get a fair amount of songs from greetings and yes yes and yes in so in. There are certain songs that you get almost every show gives i've said for my friend sam says okay. Let's not do born to run and give me another song. Okay i'd be okay. Not hearing born run and my argument is everyone shows. Someone's first show. And if this is your first time seeing bruce springsteen born ryan your walkway sat even though you may get a four hour show but interesting speaking of then they did release hammerswith odin. But the next show right. Maybe you can give me a little bit of history on this. But i read a little bit right like. There's the famous show that they release the dvd and everything a few years ago. But i guess this was a another.

"Know my role this no thunder road. It's a lightning devon. Nine needed was a friend. That car was. I think one of the most raw without feeling like raw what i was doing. It was like candid. And then the men he go to the other sections like the end of the second section and then the third section it's sort of reflecting and looking towards the future and having oak for something better and not try and like remembering that. No one's really all that were wrong. We're all that we all have the same cooling. I think it's very cool. That his music has inspired you to write What other writing are you doing. Also did something on another thing on thunder road. But i don't know where to put it it's about just revisiting it and like what it means like. I don't know how to explain it. It's about like someone who just wants to hear thunder road again and it's about like listening to it in a time where you are just lonely and sad. It's it's kind of like the other piece but not it's shorter and i don't really think that it fit in as well i mean and also with like this is kinda different but i had to do like i had to take an honors class for my college and i was like i don't want to take any of the honors classes that are offered so i emailed the director of the honors program. Now like what can we do. And then he's like well you can do an independent study and this is like a week before fox and started so. I didn't really have much time to plan something. And then we had to do and then he's like well. What do you want your independent study about. And i'm like bruce springsteen and then he's like that's a lot to work with. That's not very much. that's not very typic- and then i'm like well bruce springsteen l. I mean i eventually of something. 'cause i took a sociology class and and had to do three proposals for a paper and got and that professor picked one and that professor one of them was a springsteen topic. That's professor rejected. So i basically decided to do that for this. So for that independent study. I wrote a book review on not thunder born to run the autobiography which i got an a. on very excited and also. I'm currently on page seven of a ten page paper. I after i. This was a sociology thing that was rejected by another class. But it was about about how bruce's life experiences music represent.

"I thought it was really cool because you could tell they had not really rehearsed they were describing it and our friend andrea like. I didn't pay eighty bucks. Billy joel sit there and do oak christmas tree while i was like. No this is great. I love the spontaneity. So so i think that's kinda cool you've got to Very different genres Both you know near to your heart but they kinda speak You do they think. Do you think they speak to different sides of your personality. I mean they call it ema music and people make fun of it you know people young whining and complaining and stuff like that but really in my mind. That's like springsteen is such a big influential part andrew mcmahon. Who is the lead singer of the band. I love wall something. Corporate in jack's mannequin. He's been in a bunch of bands but he plays the piano and it's kind of a softer punk rock band. And i've seen him cover. I'm on fire in concert. A couple of times doing his take on it like a piano led version. I'm on fire is an ema saw. Yeah i it's just the if you interpret the lyrics i mean maybe the way that the music is performed is different but it comes from just the seem place in my mind is like this music that A lot of the lyrics in some of the punk music. I listened to a little dark or their little depressing and when people confronting with that. I always say that. Like hearing somebody articulate the way that i'm feeling is freeing and a lot of really good. Emo punk rock bands do that. And for instance is the king of being able to do that. The way that he's able to articulate things you don't even know that you're feeling and the way the it's just it's it's i think that's the thing that ties it together. That's i guess what. I look for in music because face it ninety percent of the time. You're listening to music. You're it's it's in your buds or you're driving in your car. It's a personal.
