The first tick Tok on full Squad gaming page just says, hey, I'm Brady and this is Jennifer and Ben were on your for you page because this week we quit our jobs to start our very own gaming company. There's no mention of energy anywhere. It's also not mentioned in the bio or the logo of the tic toc Channel Energies. Take away from this is just how insane Tik Tok is for gaming content full Squad also launched on YouTube and Instagram, but neither platform is crossed 100K yet. That's still good. Of course, but the insane following jump from Tik Tok is basically unmatched on other social platforms looking through their Tik Tok videos. The Most Important Esports Business Deals in 2020

"Look at the biggest Esports business deals from a tumultuous year. I'm a dreams and this is the Esports minute from E Sports Network. We're going to start with the business world today and move to the biggest stories over off tomorrow. Our top three biggest Esports business stories begin with BMW under the banner United and rivalry, which is transcended ties to the BMW brand the luxury carmaker partnered with five major Choice dogs all with top-tier League of Legends teams fun Plus Phoenix, then the defending world champions represented China Faker and T1 represented Korea Cloud, 9 wrapped n a and both G2 and thought it represented EU across-the-board top-tier teams with huge fan bases at the time Christopher Koenig a spokesperson for BMW said to me for an adweek article quote. We are professionals when it comes to marketing to our sales funnel and our traditional marketing group, but when it comes to younger Target group Generation Y Millennials, we only have partial answers on how to reach them. Then there's the even more important the future table. Group of Generation Z we have almost no answers on how to reach them. He sports for us is a channel to reach this group and quote and I think that really sums up the value of Esports four Brands thought you switch will continue to become a central part of smart Brands marketing strategies going forward. Number two in our list YouTube gaming acquires the broadcast rights for the OverWatch and Call of Duty leagues in a year that was marked by competition between streaming Giants and we'll talk about mixer tomorrow. Trust me YouTube's acquisition of two major Esports properties was a key moment in the sights growth into live viewing now thanks to the pandemic neither pows or CDL were able to Showcase their true potential but YouTube's investment in coming for Twitches Esports market share was a huge moment and finally the most controversial brand deal of the year the LEC and blasphemy are partnering with a futuristic city planned by Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has a poor record on human rights issues, especially for any member of the lgbtq family considering the LEC is closely tied to that Community Thursday. Casting Squad and audience the resulting controversy for strike games to pull out of the deal while it was happening blastomere avoid a lot of the public-facing controversy despite also partner with me on at the same time still page pulled out of the deal a few weeks after right games pulled out in all it was a crucial moment when moral choices of the audience and cast members came in direct conflict with what had to be an absolute boatload of

Epic Games Announces Plans for Fortnite Esports in 2021

"Minute from E Sports Network. The Esports minute is presented by technology game-changers. Check them out at TGC play link below epic released a blog post yesterday talking about their plans for the fortnite Esports ecosystem in 2021. We've come a long way since epic pledged would hundred million dollars towards fortnite Esports events back in 2018. The game has waned in popularity a bit but still commands a massive audience according to Epic 15 million unique players took part in the end of the season event earlier this week. The competitive side was also supposed to have some consistency in 2024 the first time but as everyone knows consistancy and twenty20 just don't belong in the same sentence. So first let's go for the bad news from this blog post epic is not currently planning any in-person events for 2021 including the fortnite World Cup. This is unfortunate, but it off. Safe choice to make if we get a massive roll out of a vaccine in early spring which seems like the most likely possibility at this point that could all change but for now online events just have to be the plan change it on the positive side the Ford I championship series or f n c s we moved to trios as the primary form of competition previously solos and Duo's when the main choice in fortnite Esports in my opinion Iraq is a crucial aspect when it comes to enjoying e sports events and trios adds another level of communication and strategy. The fmcs will be the Bayside competition for fortnite Esports. Basically the closest thing to a regular season with the fmcs will be the Baseline competition for fortnite Esports. Basically the closest thing to a regular season, but epic will also be putting together more weekly tournaments more random unique tournaments and more Creator Cubs 2021 and not all of those will be in trios. So fans of Duos and solos will still have some events to look forward to basically they're mostly missing

The Esports minute is presented by technology game-changers. Check them out at TGC play linked below whatever talking with somebody in a brand or company, but why they're interested in Esports? They always talk about the demo page on digitally native hard to reach consumers that Brands just aren't reaching through other platforms. That's true of Esports and it's true of tic toc lately Jen's. He's preferred social media platform has grown closer to the generations preferred competitive entertainment this week to massive ticktockers became co-owners of wrecked Global these Sports organization behind teams, like the London Royal Ravens and broke Josh Richardson and Griffin Johnson joined a long list of celebrity co-owners with wrecked while I don't see their content on my for you page. They command a pretty massive audience as primary members of the sway house and La Josh Homme. 24 million followers on the platform while Griffin has about 10 mil gaming content is huge on the platform as one would expect given that natural overlap. There was also a popular hashtag titled Esports for all that hashtag drove over 5 million views on all videos, but most of them weren't actually any sort of Esports content. So yeah, I don't really know how to tick tocks hashtags work either but hey five billion views incredible for something that has a sports in the title on the actual Esports side as one could expect FaZe Clan Topsy Sports organizations with about four point five million followers on the platform for the corporate Channel SM also has over a million but G2 Team Liquid Cloud 9 and are G are all under a million. Some of those are under 100K and I think those are pretty good selection of some of the biggest Esports organizations out there considering following of Griffin and Josh. It won't take much for rec to be competing with phase when it comes to Total influence on the platform, especially if they start pumping out more branded content through the sway house. Tik Tok is dead. Fascinating and has created massive stars in a short short time Howie Sports organizations use the platform as contact and get more creative post covid-19 testing to see

Andbox Hosts WarzoneMania & Thoughts on the Balance Between Warzone and the CDL

"Blizzard has an interesting situation on hand with Wars. Oh, even after the release of Call of Duty cold war war zone Remains the most popular mode of the game. Although it's much closer than it was during Modern Warfare last year on Twitch as I write this today, The war zone has a total viewership of 81.5 thousand while Call of Duty Cold War has a viewership of 80.9 thousand. So just a 600 viewer difference across all streams between those two games and all of these Sports history. I can't remember any major sport that has not a mode more popular than the one the East Fork competes it I think it may have happened in Starcraft once upon a time, but I never played so I can't say for sure. Okay during The Last Call of Duty season. He brought on war zone weekends as an added event ahead of each Home Series Grand finals going into this upcoming season. I expect them to have a more concrete structure laid out for ways to incorporate war zone into the overall plan of the Call of Duty league tonight. We might get a glimpse of what that could look like the New York sub liners backed by an box are hosting their first war zone Mania vent. The actual event will be held on December 10th and 12 tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern time on twitch.tv / sub liners will be a draft a celebrity Captain's pick players their war zone Squad is a total price full of 100 Grand dedicated to this event. So the draft will go a long way in determining who gets that money. The host of the event will be Chris Puckett. Also the host of e Sports networks gamer our a new episode for the game or our will also be coming out at the same times that broadcast rubber 6 p.m. PT every Tuesday, but hey, there's no such thing as too much Chris Puckett in one night. If you ask me, I think this event highlights the value of war zone to the Call of Duty Esports wage. System while a b. We'll be able to implement a draft format. Like we will have tonight just due to the structured nature of the Call of Duty League the ability for Call of Duty League teams to use war zone for events. Like this seems pretty lucrative going forward. There are a ton of branding opportunities here and undoubtedly some spots for sponsorship as well knowing am box and their long list of brand Partners. There will be some big ones attached to this event

PUBG Mobile Announcing a $14M Esports Program for 2021

"So let me bring this up here. this is. This is from the sports network Dot com the headline is pudgy. Mobile announces fourteen million dollar east sports program in twenty twenty one The article goes on to say that They've announced their pudgy mobile global championships. The newest program boasts a grand prize pool of fourteen million making it the biggest competitive series run in mobile s sports history. This is a huge price pool for mobile. I will say Something we've never seen before. The article goes on to give some details into sort of the structure and things like that but Just to give you a sense Mobile east sports According to newzoo has Has generated nine hundred fifty million dollars. Globally So you know this is one of these things where Pudgy mobile is taking a leadership role in the mobile e sports space william first of all. Are you guys involved there at all and second of all like what do you make of the now. We're starting to see moberly. Sports price pools rival call. It traditionally sports prize pools. Yeah well first of all. I just wanna put that figure in context right because we are stunned that you know the doda invitational gets above thirty million in pricing. Right like absolutely stunned right. So that is. I think arguably you know everybody looks at doda and says well. That's the pinnacle of e sports right in terms of your payday rates and terms of price. Paul this is basically half of that right so if you were going to rank each sports payouts i believe this puts them as number four overall for potential payout structure like in terms of highest pricing. Ever so it's huge like an for a mobile game again. This isn't for like you know. Bread and butter. Pc's for settle for mobile. This is just. I mean it's so significant and i think it highlights what i am coming around to which i think is maybe difficult for you to swallow paul. But it's that mobile is so accessible and it's so ubiquitous the audience about there's just such a built in audience there and for many people in many countries right. The phone is the primary gaming device and those consumers want e sports just as badly in one competition just as badly and so the reality is it is a big white space for games to lean into and i i think pudgy mobile. It's a little bit you know. I almost ironic in my. Because i wrote in my book about how i felt like pub. G missed opportunity right like they didn't defend well against port night. They made poor decisions as a result. They kind of seated that traditional market. But this is a really strong example of that brand reinventing itself to a leadership position and actually. It's kinda funny if you look at where fortnight is today and you look at where pub. Jesus today fortnight is struggling because of its absence in multiple rights for night is booming. It really underscores that the critical value of being on a you know three by six inch pizza piece of computing hardware in people's pockets. Right and so. I have to even say this is one where i'm putting my money where my mouth is right like i've you know. Oxygen east sports has announced. I think we were in the east sports observer this week for we signed a former fanatic player out of india for pudgy mobile You know to to help us. You know look at that ecosystem and do more there and you know i think it's part of a bigger belief in oxygen that mobile has potential. But it's also part of. I think a bigger global wakeling which i'm being a part of which is like mobile is is happening in east sports weather. You know we can be hardcore keyboard and mouse. Snow aim assist. All we want but the reality is it's a really important way people game today and it deserves

Riot Games Reportedly Shopping English Media Rights for LoL Esports

"Games has confirmed their shopping the granddaddy of all media rights deals on the trains and said the Esports minute from a sports network. The Esports minute is presented by technology game-changers. Check them out at TGC play linked below media rights deals or one of the key ways traditional sports teams and leagues earn money, but in use Sports, they are nearly as valuable accepts me for this one Riot games is reportedly shopping the English media rights deal for League of Legends Esports. Ryan has already sold the Chinese specific media rights to Billy Billy for $113 according Port now that deal was only for the worldwide events. Not for the regional leagues. I think it's fair to assume. The English media rights deals are in the same ballpark, but it's hard to tell without knowing the individual leagues that were applied to the deal if right is selling the rights to broadcast the LCS the LEC and international events in English. It will undoubtedly be the biggest media rights deal in Esports History Month. The two key players vying for the rights will be YouTube and twitch YouTube swooped the Activision Blizzard media rights from twitch before this previous season becoming the whole of the OverWatch and Call of Duty leagues. But League of Legends Esports are on another level entirely international events are the most watched streams on Twitch every single year without fail. They are also broadcast on YouTube though. It seems like ahead of the next year. It's going to be one of the other this was first reported by Travis Gafford, but confirmed by the sports Business Journal a few days ago. Now how riots used divvy up. "Sports Radio and CBS Sports Network is all these What ifs. I gotta throw Joe Barton because that everything is an uncertainty wrapped in a wrapped in a wrapped in a mystery here with This very bizarre o time we're living through. There is going to be a canary in the coal mines of sorts for for college football in the NFL, in the sense that we're going to see MLS and much more high profile the MBA in Major League baseball make a go of it, and we'll have an understanding certainly how that works or how that does not. If the N B A or major League baseball Begin in the MLB, his case or restarted in the NBA's case. And one of the two are both shut down, but they can't complete their season given the fact that at least theoretically, these are amateur athletes in college, given the fact that not every university students on campus If that transpires that MLB or the MBA can't finish. What do you think college football should do, as it relates to play in the fall versus the spring? You know, it's hard. But the hard question answer because I think a lot of dependent on what we learned between now and whatever that decision comes. That's why we keep seeing these administrators sort of kick the can down the road as far as they can. And delaying decision delaying decision because I think Every day. We're at least hoping to learn more to have a better understanding about what? What we're dealing with here and so I mean, we Kid's college kids seem to be more resilient to this then than others. And I know that that you know the Professional leagues are still from a just from a resilience to the to the virus. Um, are pretty well equipped as well, because everyone's in really good shape and those air Go to the young. People, but I think when we're looking at this from a from a risk standpoint from the administration side, I think that's one of the big things they've got to get sort of comfortable with is What are they willing to to risk? You know? Are they willing to? Um if if the if the mortality rate is so low That this very unlikely that anyone would get would would have sort of that sort of a reaction to the disease. Then are you comfortable? Letting them play and if one person dies, is that enough to sort of pull everyone out for the year and I would imagine a lot of ministers think it is, And so I think that's sort of what we're dealing with. Here is Look, what's the What's the what's the benefits? And then what's the cost? And I think that Because there will be sort of a fear of making the mistake that would could potentially cost. No lives literally. I think that you could see some administrators really be skittish about putting players out on the field, particularly when the professional weeks perhaps art, and so It's a really tough decision to be making, you know on DH, not one that I envy for those those decision makers Bill writer film for Jim Rome, Barton Simmons. As you talk to sources, and again, I understand everyone. I mean, folks that work at the CDC or trying to figure out covert 19 and the particulars and the important realities this virus, So it's it's guess work based on the information we have, but as you talk to folks around college football Is there a sense of how much how likely they think this virus Wheeler won't be contracted by players smashing into each other, but outside the fact that out did you have a sense of how contagious Folks think this will be this virus. Two people playing football. You know, I think, um It's I know I think the thing that most when I talk to people, I think most of the time like there is just sort of an assumption that the nature of football Is is one in which the spread will will be will be easy. And so it will be about sort of sniffing it out and containing it because once once Someone has it, Um, given again the nature of the game, given how many players on the roster on it, just what? How it gets contracted how it spreads. It's just sort of seems to me. There isn't a acknowledgment that it will be spread. Now again. I'm not an epidemiologist. I don't know. Um you know where that falls in terms of of how. How. High risk the sport would be given to sort of the nature of it, but I think because of that. All the difference. All the different sort of changes in procedure that are taking place and are being planned for our are pretty fascinating. I mean, you know I talked to somebody on a on a college staff recently that was talking about how There's considerations like maybe we don't go into the locker room at halftime. Maybe we'll meet in the end zone, you know, like it's a pop Warner game. Um, you know, maybe we take Seven buses to the game instead of two. You know, there's So I think that there is those sort of conversations were being taken place. Within college football programs. To try to mitigate the spread and try to make it as safe as possible for the players and limit the spread within the team as much as possible. But You know, I mean, there's only so much you can really do and again when you're talking about the nature of the game being one that It's not golf, not tennis. It's mean there. There. You know, there's there's a lot of physical contact and On. So obviously, you know, that's gonna that's gonna create some uncertainty about the prospect of things, Barden. Great stuff, man. Great insight in a really, really.

"We thank them for their support of the show. Yeah obviously economic slowdown is Huge question mark from all this stuff. One thing that I did see the I have a kickstarter campaign that was actually unfortunately in the Chinese factory as this has all unfolded and they actually executives are back in the factory this weekend within the next seven days. They're hoping to ramp up to thirty percent staff. And so it seems like they're loosening some of the restrictions and the factory you know they're hoping we'll get back up to speed within the next thirty days or so so at least the complete zero percent but yeah that's a great point you make about manufacturing a whole taking a massive hit and kind of a month and a half lost from. This could have all kinds of ripple over the rest of the globe. Yeah I mean we've spent what the last thirty years doing stuff like supply chain optimization and just in time manufacturing as as the last week it rolls off the line the supply truck rolls up and puts more stuff in the bin which is great as long as supply gene's working and I think a lot of folks are going to have to spend some time in their contingency planning thinking as you have more disruptions to the system whether it's a virus or whether it is you know earthquakes plagues of locusts like literally in Biblical levels of Disasters Right now. We've got heat. Waves earthquakes wildfires the a massive swarming locusts covering seven nations across Africa and Southeast Asia. Okay I think. It's probably time to dust off the older contingency plans. It said like a half thirty day supply on hand you more money. Yes it costs you space. Yes but you gotTa have that buffer. Now Yeah Yeah you you can't You can't count as well and I you know. Unfortunately it's like the worst news always bubbles up to the top because you can't be sourced from multiple places too that's the other thing and it perhaps over the long run this will start to change things of maybe everything that gets manufactured on the planet shouldn't come out of. China could get one or two more other places doing some manufacturing. Yeah that might not be a bad idea. But we do that digitally right. We have load balancing servers all of the planet. And why we I obviously recognize when you're talking about physical goods. Real world is a lot more expensive to balance. But for sure you WANNA make sure that you've got some coverage and that is actually a really important point on the software side. Make sure you know where your vendors are located. Do you talk about talk. You know being based in China Nowhere. You're vendors located and no if it the next nearest competitor As as a vendor his located in the same area because if they're geographically dispersed have a plan B for the tools. You need the most. Yeah exactly have a contingency plans ready to go now. That's definitely critical in this day and age. And Yeah he said you know we do virtual work everywhere we've got you know plays doing knowledge-based work all over the planet. So maybe spreading things around would be a little bit smarter way to go and interesting article. Google Ending Free. Wi Fi Indian rail stations. I Guess Free Wifi. Google is doing a lot of projects offering free access at the train. Stations which were were major hubs but as I read deeper into it. It wasn't that they've just pulled the plug. It's actually the competition has come round. And even one of the major providers. They're offering a few months free right out of the gate so that it's not the shortage wasn't there. There's actually enough commercial support for WI FI in India to support itself and prices have come down enough that Google doesn't feel like they have to support the whole load now in spread around a little bit but yeah. I don't know it's interesting. I you know watching. The rest of the world get progressively better Internet service The course of personal pain point for myself but That's just something to keep an eye on as we continue to watch other markets expanding and the rest of the world can get full bore into topnotch Data availability yeah. We actually just cut the cord on TV Tyler. Like Yep just moving over to pure pure fiber only yeah. Yeah you'd said. You'd made the the final chord there so all the content you want you can get via the wire. There's no point in the local service at all. Exactly or the twenty five percent of the bill being random fees like those my bill for. Oh God what is it here? It is the regional sports network for somebody who watches zero regional sports zero interest paying this fee to subsidize somebody else's Thing now I'm sure they would say the same thing about the stuff I watch. But there's no fee for it on my bill for the stuff I want. Yeah yeah that's long. Been a point of contention of does random fees. I mean if you call up and actually ask about you know where to those. Come from or weather's for it's just a big question mark. Nobody knows you know what? That's all about our weather sports view. That's a new one for me that I haven't seen real sports feed. That one's a one's a real doozy. I'm sorry that's I'm sure there's some sports association that's demanding. Their cut or the federal government needs a sports tax. Yeah I'm not buying that one. No not at all so yeah. We've got the over. The air antenna already had that for a couple of years now and we're going to look you know maybe Youtube TV to see how that goes but we'll watch much TV to begin with. There's no time. Yeah Yeah we'll just. It seems like the on demand over the top stuff. Everybody that's where everybody's going and getting what they want to get. So that's that's the way we as we go over to events so we've got to mention big news. We've got may eleventh. We're going to be in Brooklyn at Mad Con. Madison's actually running the twelfth thirteenth. We're going to be doing a bootcamp the day before and Chris will be doing a bunch of VIP sessions. We've got two slots open in the morning where you can. You'll send us your access the week before more but you can actually have an on hands working our going over everything you've got going on with Google analytics and talk about attribution or any other questions you've got and then the afternoon session. We're doing a bunch of presentations. I'm going to be out there. Katie will probably be down to. You can get in on that session. We've got ten seats available for that and I've got for marketing over coffee fans Half off right now. So if you're interested if you can get down to Brooklyn on May Eleventh Fermat kind of the the other benefit that is if you do the precession you'll get a free ticket to the rest of Matt Conn for the Twelfth and thirteenth you can go to the rest of that show with a free badge from doing the boot camp so yeah really excited about getting that going. Be More about that in the next couple of weeks. And as a matter of fact if you subscribe to the market over coffee newsletter powered by that digital. We'll put the first push for it over there and you can check that out to be good time a lot of fun all right. How what else have you got on the docket? You just did. The Gore pulse just dropped their show last week so that your content is all out there. Anything else on your radar next next up Social Media Marketing World so I just ordered myself a new P. One hundred respirator for the plane and got the the white cotton gloves for touching services and such. So it's GonNa be a comfort to look a lot like a bane convention from Batman. Yeah Yeah that's it you've got your full mask and Sudan so that'll be an interesting time. We'll have you have to report back from the field and take some pictures and see what it looks like and the full travel front. The it's going to be it's going to be something Tom Webster was saying on the most recently came back from L. A. Pretty much everybody on the plane was wearing a mask like you know without exception getting really well. Yep We've done our CDC segment. Today with that. I think that's going to do it for this week so until next week. Enjoy the coffee. Enjoy the coffee with.

"Sent you anything else on the front. You've been doing a ton of stuff just with market research and kind of seeing what competitors have gone on but anything lately on that front. Yeah I mean the thing that is really useful about the software is the fact that there's so many different modules we. I use the content explore a lot. If you're familiar with buzz sumo. It's essentially the same thing. So if you've already bought a Schrafft's congratulations to you owned bus sumo as well more or less. But the big thing for me is being able to get some of the social metrics data out of it which I can't get out of other tools on a per url basis. That's actually been really helpful. Because that can feed allow the machine learning models using and the the number one conclusion that is perennial year after year. Is that there is no mathematical relationship between social media activity and search an SEO activity so if you're trying to optimize for search and you think social media is going to do it for you. It's not it's as it has no relationship whatsoever so keep them separate in in your brain. Doing more in social media does not lead to better search results or vice versa. All right that sounds good. I've got a link to the striking about facebook of five hundred fifty million dollars settlement over facial recognition. This is something and somebody that earlier. This week was talking to me. Too about tick tock being such a repository of tagged faces and facial recognition. So this does seem to be the first time that the world has kind of catching on before there's been some kind of major egregious falter loss of data. But I don't know what are you thinking about on the facial recognition front? Is there stuff that you're watching or stuff that you say you need to do to defend yourself? Well here's the thing. A lot of the technology to do facial recognition is available. It's open source it's free we use it internally. I use for Spam box and stuff for social networks if I can get a profile photo from somebody social profile. I'll put it through a conversational neural network. That are is very simple as as Tried to determine whether a human faces present in the image. Not because the people that I don't want to interact with on linked in or on twitter and stuff like that for the most part especially when trying to influence or identification. I don't want to interact with anybody. Who's profile photos logo right? You know exactly what you're GONNA get out of an account like that so you're looking for human faces slightly more reliable indicator and you know the library. It's free it's open source. It was trained really well and you can fine tune if you want and then you roll it out so. Genie is out of the bottle. It's not something you can. You can't regulate the existence. The technology can only regulate the application of it and so the bigger question is this Katie. And I were talking about on the in ear insights podcast earlier this week. You can't apply ethics to technologies right. You have to apply ethics at a at a company in corporate level of your executives are unethical immoral people. Guess what you're gonNA use technologies ethical ways right. There's really no you can't make the use of a tool ethical or unethical. You can only make the people who are using the tools behave in an ethical or unethical ways and certainly we've seen plenty of examples facebook leading the charge of companies that just have no ethical compass. Yeah right the the hammer and the wrench have no ethics. It's all about the hands thing. Grab them in. What exact damage they do. Yeah I don't know we'll continue to watch that but it just seems to be an endless string of disappointment You know doing interesting stuff trying to get at least groups to pick up but yeah no. It's not going in the direction it should be going. I had a thing come in. Wbz engine we use WBZ engine for wordpress hosting a lot of people. Do they have local connect set up so that as developer. You can have a full local install to be able to do a bunch of testing and break stuff. They've always had staging so you can do that. But now having it local so that you don't have to worry about cashing staging and things like that is kind of cool so I was excited to see that come through. That's kind of a neat feature to to throw out there and also following up on Kwara. It's just funny. We were talking about last time. We were on and sure enough. You know three hours after we finish the show. They put out a note on some new features. They've got as far as advanced match and conversion windows so more stuff going on in core front continuing to gain more ground as it goes now and the event front is I is gone. You had the speaking group talking about. The Corona virus has been kind of closing up some shows. Things have been kind of rotten on the speaker front. Yes the it's really I mean it's unfortunate but a lot of events are looking at cancellations of speakers of the events themselves. The biggest one of course Mobile World Congress was a major major major show hundred thousand attendees. We're seeing facebook just cancelled its global marketing summit. Just GonNa take place in in early March. Five thousand person attended event the RSA Conference had IBM pull out there. Like Yep. We're we're going to show up there. Black Hat. Asia cancelled Cisco LIVE MELBOURNE CANCELLED. And some folks are saying in speaking groups like yeah. They've had you know. Events cancelling on them saying we can't you know just we're just not doing the event stuff in the takeaways there. If you're on the events side please make sure you have event insurance so that if you have to cancel your insurance policy can pick it up and if you are a speaker or a vendor on the on the that side there's money involved to make sure that your contracts are ironclad that you have refund policies in place with I would say this point Do Ninety Sixty thirty day window if you cancel more than ninety days out you know you get a refund on the sixty days out. Fifty percent of the feedback And if it's you know thirty days less you get nothing back and hold that in your contracts so that if an event has to cancel the you're not left Loyd back. Yeah exactly not having the shortest win because it's not a big deal. If somebody usually three months notice you can at least work around that but to be bailing stuff last minute getting burned on travel to exactly that last month exactly making sure that travel is is fully reimbursed regardless of the cancellation books. Travel it you you get paid for it The other thing that has come up a lot and I think is worth pointing out for. Everybody is according to Bloomberg News and a at a CNBC. There are substantial economic dragged from this event. They're already talking about Medicine shortages around the planet because the WHO a province where hunters look as a massive pharmaceutical manufacturing area that feeds like eighty percent of India's generic manufacturing which then feeds the rest of the planet. And so if you're not planning for an economic slowdown if you've got a backup plan if you were in the event space and you don't have backup plans for your speaker and you don't have multiple lines of income you have a very short window of time to activate your backup plans and make sure that you've got multiple types of income that you've pivoted virtual events and virtual things as much as possible so that wildest thing works its way out of planetary system. You're not wait for the phone ring. Yeah that's true time and places everything especially in marketing but in today's age a million messages per minute and not enough hours in a day..

"Coffee. I'm John Wall. I'm Christopher Ben and we are here February middle of quarter. I don't know it seems like there's quite the hangover from end of year. Things have been kind of quiet even on the news. Front to there wasn't a ton of stuff But you had when you're looking at supposedly a lot of angst on the weather maps about changes to Google search results. Yes search engine. Watch and search engine. Roundtable were saying that There was a pre substantial rankings. Jumping around few days ago that lasted for almost a week. Which is unusual for them. These days made no statement about algorithm changes but a lot of webmasters are noticing rankings. In placements jumping up and down a lot of changes and it has settled down since then so the evergreen reminder is if you haven't logged into your search console lately now it'd be a good time to do it and see if it particularly if there are certain pages that you see a massive amount of volume just vanish from might be time to go and figure out why you got wacked in the knees or those yeah and get back on base that. Dr Pye had shared an article talking about The zero box you know at the at the top were snippets shop there and that's actually now being considered one of the ten posts but the more interesting than that was over on the right side. Where sometimes you get video media clips? A lot of sites are blocking that trying to shut that down so those that get refused because they don't want those snippets up there but another group had come in saying. Yeah but the problem is. That's where the audio search results get pulled from that right media snippet so if you wack yourself over there you're gonNA lose your shot on audio and smart speaker and of course there's only one result on smart speaker. Either get to you. Don't you're dead. I don't know what do you think about that you know. There's been a lot of chatter this. We'd have seen about smart speakers and like we'll smart speaker ever come round as a marketing. Venue the challenge and the reason why marketers really don't like audience. Smart Speaker is exactly what you said. It's the one result you get one shot? If you're not number one year you literally are nothing. And so it's quite a challenge to get to that and the trick there is. We've been talking about this for. I don't know five years now is you've got to build your brand. You've got to build your brand and has got to be a memorable enough brand that silicon. Recall it when they're talking to you know they're smart speaker on saying. Hey Google tell me when trust insights is open right and Google's got to be able to recognize it but more importantly customers got and remember it and if you don't have that brand power than smart speaker yeah it's going to be no help to you. Yeah you'RE NOT GONNA GET ANYTHING. Done it in the same vein to purchasing via text message. Walmart is closing down their service that they had for buying via text. It was interesting. They took this whole model. That was completely as far away from the Walmart model you could get. Was You know? Urban City people texting to buy stuff and having it delivered straight to them and saying that it the peak it was losing fifteen thousand a year per member which is kind of that's kind of Bologna metric. You know saying that like the dividing the whole expenses the company by the existing customer base. Because that's what ramping up is all about but I was more interested just in the idea of buying via text. Do you think that can take off or is that kind of going too far down the shopping experience? All think about that I mean. What have we become accustomed to? We open that companies relevant happen by inside there right. You open up the Amazon Apple. Whatever and you buy in there and indeed for those things that aren't a lot of cases you open up what pay pal or van Mo or whatever the payment system of your choices and that's what you do it so it seems like a stretch to go the text message out to win. It's just as little effort for consumer to open up the Walmart APP on their phone and especially if they're all payment information to save verification process and things. I don't know why you'd go almost. It's not the same but almost strikes me as like by by fax. Yeah right right I can. I can see where you're coming from especially because you just lose everything. Now you're just sending text via the the text protocol and as opposed to when you're in the APP now there's still tracking your round and they can serve up stuff that suggestions based on previous orders and like you said the payments already locked in so. Yeah that's that's a great point. Why would you kind of waste time going on that route if you've got him locked into the APP and even better yet take that fifteen k? A year you're losing and gives every customer a thousand bucks to spend for free on the APP. You would in theory be better off. Yeah Oh totally you blow up the APP store. They're the the the other thing. Is that if you if you're looking for aren't guard ways. Walmart has a massive disadvantage. If you're looking for ways to get people to buy something guess what. Smart Speaker is a great way to do that. Except for one minor problem the largest smart Speaker Company also speed world's largest e-commerce company. Yeah I don't think we're going to see any walmart results coming up number one speech queries anytime soon. No no yeah. It'll be interesting to see how that that fight shakes out too because still at some point. You have to believe that they're like yeah. Anytime anybody to buy anything we go look at Amazon. I no matter what it was. They had Amazon. Losing some ground in the space. Actually both Amazon and Google losing ground because a lot of these third parties sonos and other speakers gain some ground during the quarter. And I don't know I find that a little bit interesting. That's kind of cool that these are better fidelity stuff you know. This is stuff that people really want the music or the speaker but then of course the the flow would that logic is just because somebody bought asano smart speaker. Maybe they're just buying a Sonos speaker and don't really care at all about the fact that it's smart so yeah in fact. I wouldn't even say you're you can't say directly that you're losing share just because there's more sports aren't speakers out there. It's all about how much they actually get used right exactly and who system they integrate with both Google and Amazon have ap is and stuff for a third party smart speakers to talk to them to be able to leverage. You know a the Alexis the googles of the world. Ibm has one Fritz chat assistance in a very distant third place unfortunately there so the question is for lights party manufacturers or as well WHO's system? You're going to go with. Who who do you? Who Do you want to be locked into? Yeah where do you want to place your bets and it was interesting over Valentine's Day the air pods pro. Where a number one later. I notice even sold out for a couple of days or on Amazon. Able to get them and at the same time. Echo buds drop down to eighty nine bucks at one point which that was almost like an impulse. Buy For me. I came very close just to grab him for the sake of it and then I looked yesterday and their backup at one thirty or wherever. They're they're at so the Valentine's Day sale is over in. Your shot is over that but yeah the idea of kind of smart ear. Buds IS PRETTY INTERESTING. But yeah not taking the plunge just yet on that. Yeah but it is interesting too late when you step back and look at where every place Amazon trying to cram luxa microwave ovens ear buds jewelry eyeglasses. They clearly know that. "You know, one of the things. I feel strongly about is sports networks need identities. And I don't count HBO as a sports network, but HBO boxing was a real thing if you said, HBO sports, I was like, oh boxing. It would have been very easy for you to not create f s one right in FOX did out of that for a while. CBS. I still think was way too late to the party. NBC has not gone with on air personalities but you made a decision that this company, whatever it was. You know what we're going to go with individuals who have shows six eight of six P, and we're going to go up against the titan. Right. The industry leader. Take me back to win you and the Murdoch said, okay, let's go for it. Let's go after, you know, it's probably the same meeting southwest herb had it Southwest Airlines fifty years ago. United delta and somebody said, we're going to go we're going to try and take on the titans now look at south west dinner moment, piffling, when you decided we're going to go after those guys with this cable sports network, with opinion shows well. I do think it's an amazing point in the Fox Sports history. It clearly wasn't just me. You know, we have we have bosses here, especially you know, Rupert Lachlan at the time. Chase Carey was here. David Hill was was still here. Always being able to kind of look ahead and make sure that you are. You're seeing what you need to be and not reacting being proactive rather than reactive, and what they saw at the time was the fact that this bundle was going to go through a tremendous amount of pressure. People had everybody had ridden. The gravy train of just launching a new linear cable network and charging a dime, or a quarter for it, and making a ton of money that seemed like it was, it was endless the amount of money that was going to come in through the pay TV system, and that people were just going to continue to subscribe to your traditional pay TV. They looked out and said my gosh, we've got I think eleven brands that we need to have carried on a pay TV system. That's not sustainable, and that was seven or eight years ago. Right. We had everything from FOX movie channel to speed and fuel and FOX soccer channel. And so they said what we need to do. We need to have fewer brands in the FOX portfolio, but those brands really have to be meaningful and valuable in people's lives that. They do want to have a bundle of channels that has us in it, it's so we had to be bigger and powerful smaller brands, but bigger and powerful..

"Back to sports network. My name is Bob Babbitt before the break. We are talking with ten time these champion Mark Allen bought his first ever trip to the European continent and to race ironman niece. So here we are running along prominent. Right along the, you know, the big street, the parallels the Mediterranean along the coast there, and you know, they're beautiful lights that are that are shining. And there's still bustling nieces always kind of busy. And and I was like this is so amazing. I just felt like I was on top of the world that I was so lucky to be able to fly to Europe. And I was going to be racing in France. And I can tell the other guys they were talking about the food that we can eat, you know, they were worried about everything I was just like a kid. Sure. Wow. This is amazing. And just set the tone for me like I just loved it and that such an amazing experience. And so I I ended up. You know, winning ten ten races and ten tries. I I raised five years in a row from nineteen eighty two through nineteen eighty six, and you know, the next year, I days Scott was second. I was I got Molina. Was there the year after that? I was I got with second Scott Tinley with their year after that nineteen ninety-five I woke up in the morning, and I was I felt like I had the flu. And I thought gee, I there's no way I can race. I was a key. I was just I was hurting. I kind of had a headache fever, and I thought well, I've flown all the way here. I'm in Europe. You know, I should just do the swim. If I feel terrible after the swim. I can just out. No, no big deal. And so I went down to start and I did the swim. And I got out of the water. I thought well. She'll she'll good enough at least get on the bike coversation. I guess I can just go on a bike. If I feel terrible. I can. Cloud. I can drop out at the end of the bike if I'm feeling lousy. So actually made it through the bike ride. Well, maybe I should just start the run. And they they had short bad change the distances of that. It was about a afford case when it was a one hundred twenty kilometer bikes around seventy two ish miles seventy five miles on the bike. And then the run was was thirty two kilometers twenty miles. So it was the riding the bike with a little bit longer demanding very technical a lot of climbing. Lots of hairpin descent turns which were just harassing but exciting at the same time to the maritime Alps, and then the run up straight out and back long along the coast there, I started a marathon. And at one point I was approaching the turnaround. I moved into second place. It's got out ahead of me still leading the race. And I thought. I'm in second place. There's only one guy who's ahead of me. And when I woke up this morning, I didn't think I should even start the race that I did what had happened. And you know, eventually I did go on to pass a guide. My my fourth title that year. And it just showed me that. You know, things don't have to be absolutely perfect for you to have this credible day know, waking up with the flu. And now, I'm eventually I moved into I ended up winning the title there. And it was that that was just a huge huge lesson for me like, you know, don't ever underestimate what what could happen if you just. So out and try even if you don't a perfect, even at things quicken the way you hope. Can just turn around. I remember you when we chatted about that. That's race once before and you're like, okay. I knew I wasn't one hundred percent but sixty percent and my goal was to get one hundred percent that sixty percent and just savor the day. And that that's something that that I drawn a lot. And and people who've listened to our past interviews have drawn out a lot because a lot of times you're not one hundred percent. But if you can get a hundred percent out of whatever you have that's really a win. That's. In many ways, that's the best way to live life. Right. I mean every day is going to be your best day. And I'm days are going to be your worst. But that doesn't mean that it's necessarily good or bad. It just means that it's just not as good as you could have done on another day. So why not why not get the best out of it? Like, I've always said there's one person who's gonna end up atop the podium Canada race. And so does that mean that everybody else's had allowed today or they're losers? Absolutely. Not. And so that really became goal online in me in Hawaii every race. I did after that year was to just really try to to give everything I had even if it wasn't the best day that I could have had on another day. And that that that carries me a lot, you know. So I won those first five in a row. And then I felt like, you know, I'm pretty that feels like enough and I was starting in nineteen eighty seven. I started shifting my focus. George trying to really see if I could win and Kona and. I just. Nineteen eighty-seven and nineteen eighty eight. I did not go to me. And then in nineteen eighty nine majorly, you know, the the city contact me, and they said, hey, we really really likes to have you come back and do the race. 'cause they you know, they really the whole region and grace new Cranston brace me racing there with Justice and made an experience whether it was in needs or or avenue owner short rates. I used to do in Paris. Did a winter track on the trans? It was just so anyway. Well. Yeah. Okay. Niessen nieces in the first part of June iron Manton in October. It'll be actually perfect build-up. All all's focus on needs the first half of the year. And then avenue. The first ever Olympic championship was going to be an August. That would be great get some fee work in and then right after that I'll I'll ratchet up the distance recount again in it. I ended up winning number six there nineteen nine winning Avignon in August. And of course, winning in October that year. So that was that that was a a an Transformation for me to be able to do all of those races at three different kinds of distances. Doom at the top of my game. And this is the thirtieth anniversary of of that right of that year. And and people a lot of people because at that point eight nine you hadn't won ironman yet. You're in people in the US higher. Man was Dave Scott was the legend. So when you went to Avignon, it was the Mike. Okay. Markdowns the greatest guy in a plan and he's simply going to win that race. There was a lot of other. Folks, there were were you had a Mike pig was coming over miles. Stuart rob ari'el, and Rick wells and Glenn cook. And Brad Beven you had a there was a those a lot of a lot of really fast guys and they were at their distance. You're you're doing multiple you're doing ironman, you're doing these. And you're trying to be competitive at the Olympic distances well of doing that race in Avignon and winning there the first ever IT really what really is the Olympics now. Right. That that's the that was apprentice. Censors Olympics when he met how special was at too because as an ironman guy, you're not really representing your country. Now, you're standing atop the podium, and you've got the anthem going and all that type of thing special that. Yeah. That was for me that was. One of the highlights of my career after the break more with six time ironman world champion, Mark Allen from California.

"A learfield. IMG college presentation of sports network. The nation, which of course Wilson screened in the White House. This is the real legacy of the Democratic Party of you haven't moved all that far away from it. Although they have moved away from it in rhetoric. Yeah. The national gotta talk about the state of the union CBS poll says seventy six percent approval for the president what he had to say last night from their viewers CNN had to admit it was fifty nine percent, which is way higher than CNN whatever like to to announce a report the president. I think hit the secret sauce. He said, okay, they wanna do resist. They wanna do hate Trump or Trump derangement syndrome. Let me go against that. And say, I want love and harmony that we really hit it out of the park. Didn't he by going there? The whole speech was being very shows. The Trump has kind of come of age in the earlier two state of the union front was more mad. He's teamed innocence on the war pop here. He seemed more Surrey in much more calm now, you can give a speech about unity that becomes a complete milquetoasts event in which you find if you will the feeble common ground and just keep stressing that Trump didn't actually do that. When he good pumping more remarkable. He found the areas of division. Let's just keep the border, but it on his side with such force, and such you may say obvious common sense, which is g look at all the wealthy people in our country. Don't you notice that they've got fences around their homes they bought stock to protect and they and they have walls to protect it. Right. We actually want sex traffickers and cocaine smuggling drugs and and murderers gang members coming traits across the border. I mean, he presented in such a way that to be against that is to reveal yourself as not only a fool, but a kind of morally anesthetize person. So you put the Democrats in an incredibly difficult position. I think the high rating among independents courses, the politically significant number that really reflected the fact that Trump struck a home run with them. I couldn't disagree with you. And what's interesting is. It's almost as if they wrote the speech to challenge the Bill after you really not gonna clap for this thing that everybody wants are you really knocking applaud or say in a great military, or you're not gonna applaud somebody who survived the holocaust. It was. It was masterful the way they put it together. And at the end of it. I think the left looks like a bunch of babies and owner of you agree. They look like a bunch of baby sitting on their hands crossing their arms looking at their phone playing a game on the phone or something or chatting amongst themselves. They to me they they look like the children. He looked like the adult. It's almost like he's. Scripted it out and they'd played their appointed part. I also find it interesting. The things that Trump did not say, I mean, look a global warming Heidi democrat, given the speech probably a fourth of the speed that Trump, and and what funny about that? Is of course, here you have. Cortez implying that if we don't do something urgent about global warming. The planet is basically on its way out in the next twelve year. Trump five as mega gems by sort of not even mentioning. Gives shows in what can patent and ridicule he holds that point of view. And so I think it's very significant. What Trump didn't say what he did a stint extra Sousa? Dot com. Follow him, all the social media. I appreciate the knowledge that we always get get his movie and his book death of a nation. It's amazing. All right. Got to ask you about Stacey Abrams. Who did the the rebuttal? I guess there was a pre Buttle, I didn't even know existed. Then there was a rebuttal by her then. I guess Bernie Sanders was doing a rebuttal to. But then it turned out. He's a white racist that he hates the black women because you wanted to do a rebuttal. That's actually what the left was saying about them. They're eating their own Nash. But Stacey Abrams in this in this row. She she she goes to her upbringing and all agree. Great great upbringing and your dad worked his butt off. And and and he had a walk up hill both ways fifty two miles in the snow, and we were feeling for the story, we can all relate to it. And then and she knew that she had opportunity was great land. And then and then somehow Trump's are racist Trump caused the shutdown. Trump hates children. We all know to me. Maybe listen to what he said in the speech, and you won't sound so disconnected in your response because she seemed like like miles away from the unity. He just called for. And she basically said he's a big fat lion racist. What do you think about that tactic by them? Well, this has been. Central to their narrative, the whole concept that Trump is a racist. Is key the Democrats idea that he is sort of ineligible to be president doesn't really matter that people voted for him. They have every right to try to get him out of there. And this is. He has to be beyond the pale. Yes. To be a traitor colluding with Russia. So you're Trump talks about the treaty. How how much is he colluding with Russia is on an important nuclear deal that went goes back to the Reagan days, number two. From is manifestly NADA race, if he clearly has a special affection for African Americans. He goes out of his way to even when it's sometimes difficult to do. Yeah. This guy was convicted of drugs, but you know, what it's it's not all bad. And we're giving them a second chance. Clearly, Trump is going get going the extra mile you might say to produce racial unity in this country. So this'll charge that couldn't be more off base. And particularly when coming from southern Democrats, you know, guys like north the move have actual histories the Clintons have a history with segregation. There is with people like Robert Byrd were in leaders of the Ku Klux Klan and then accused. Sort of guy from New York and queens who has nothing to do with any of this is being a racist says something downright comical about it. It's very straight. But is that the only card they have to play is. He's a cartoon character. He's the monster. He's the I if they don't they don't play that card if you're not successful. He's to be successful. Isn't he? Well, Trump just look at it from a kind of objective point of view, he's made market gains. I mean, he's done well on the foreign policy front. He has an economy. That's humming along very well. He's doing things that Obama said could not be done, right. He's also proven the never Trumpers wrong by showing that he's really a social conservative. I need some more pro-life Bush. Maybe Bush's heart was more deeply lodged within the sort of Christian precincts if you will. But nevertheless, Bush didn't do half as much for the pro-life caused as Trump is doing. So Trump is actually got a got a lot of talk about on the ground. So you take away this kind of bugaboo of racism and all these sort of cereal allegations, and they have to face up your Trump's record. And that's not easy for them to do. I always appreciate the national Sousa. Great knowledge. It's an amazing read when you go read his books. It's an amazing viewing. When you go. Watch one of his movies. The latest one is called death of a nation. Make sure you go and get it. We always appreciate him stopping by one eight hundred five zero one seventy eighty joepags dot com. We're coming right back. Stay here. Message.
