Tom Brady Makes His Debut with Tampa Bay Buccaneers,

"In sports. Fox Sports Center Joe Buck on Fox's News Sunday says that this start of the NFL season is going to be unlike any before it. Ah, whole lot quieter. You've got a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team when Tom Brady making his Buccaneers debut on the road in New Orleans. Which is one of the toughest places to play. I mean, it gets crazy down there and for offense, trying to figure it out. If you can't hear that, that's a big factor. So I think there's a competitive Disadvantage if you will for the Saints because they don't have that the looking Zehr given it to the Bucks by

Dak Prescott reveals he got help for depression: "It saves lives"

"Scott Van Pelt. One big thing was about Dak Prescott and Prescott spoke out about depression skip bayless criticized him for it and Scott. Van Pelt. made it as one big thing last night. We track that down for you. Here's Scott last night on sports center. We've never had more access to athletes than we do right now, social media has allowed them to control message and their brand like never before, but it's more than that. The modern athlete is more willing than his or her predecessors to share themselves in ways that reveal humanity their vulnerability. It's easy to lose sight of the fact that these stars are just like we are because we won't ever be in. Line for thirty, some odd million dollar a year contract. We won't ever be the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, but we all carry around things with us pain burdens years, and they get heavy is the real. Even if you're the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott shared with Graham Bensinger that following his brother's death by suicide, he struggled with the pressure that the isolation of quarantine impacted him significantly as well. Prescott shared this. When you have those that you've never had I think that's more more than anything the chance to realize and recognize it on to be vulnerable about it. And that's what's so different about the modern athlete, not instagram or brand management. It's the understanding that there will be understanding that you don't have to pretend to be tough when you aren't that you can ask for help and know that it's going to be met with compassion for the most part. And also to know that those who can't muster any? Aren't worth your time. We're concern. Yeah, I'm there's. Fell the last sentence was my favorite part in George Dino in L Z granderson joining us now for cross. The lesson was my favorite part. The encouraging part about this whole skip bayless Dak Prescott thing guys is the reaction to it from everybody else that Dak Prescott was universally welcomed after somebody tried to criticize him for being vulnerable and that's when that's when you know you've turned a corner when the when the reaction is. So overwhelmingly one sided. George. What'd you think about all that stuff? Look I've worked with skip before on first take many years ago and I think skip is a nice man. I think what the problem is that people don't realize is that he has a very one track mind. If you notice, there was a huge mistake. He made a mistake not that long ago. I remember when Paul Paul Ryan, kind of delved into sports in one of these political debates can. There was a clip that went viral about him. Not even knowing who was right like that's just who is and I'm not look I'm not condoning what he said at all I think what he said was reprehensible like I someone particularly who has suffered from depression who has had real struggles dealing with loss at times as many of us has Scott pointed out right I think he's a very nice person off the air I just think he's not very worldly or standing of anything that's not in his particular sphere or circle, and most of it is sports

'Long Gone Summer' Documentary Revisits Controversial 1998 Home Run Chase

"Are joined by the director of long gone. Summer AJ SCHMUCK AJ. Congratulations loved watching that film. What does it feel like to have the film finally be seen by the world. I mean it's crazy. It's a been a long journey to get to this point, and it feels like a total miracle to have finished. With the pandemic and working separately with all my team so finally being able to get the film done and get it's ESPN. Feels like a huge accomplishment. Why did you decide to start the dock with the actual baseball's that mark mcgwire hit. Well is in part because we. When we met Todd McFarlane The Great Comic Book Artist Entrepreneur Who who bought all the balls or a bunch of balls including at number seventy. I just love the way he talked about the home run, and how it is something that really connects baseball fans to the game in a way that you don't get in any other sports so as soon as we like walked out of of interviewing him, I I turned to my producer, and said you know that's the beginning of the film. Is Him talking about what the home run in baseball means and how it connects fans, drinks have direct contact between Maguire's bat, and and the person who catches it. So that was that was great also has sort of the other. Bonus. Positive thing of reminding you that someone paid more than three million dollars. Baseball that's how big this was That's how much this took over the country that someone would would go to that extent. To own that ball. Having when watching that scene in Rhode. explained. HOW MICHAEL JORDAN HITS! A shot wins the championship. They go and bring him the basketball, and if if a quarterback breaks a record with the past, bring him the football, but with the home run. You literally hit into the stands, and you never see it again and it was sort of a way that the fan can take home a piece of the game in baseball. They can't other any other way. Way that happens with the home run, but then you did you hear him sort of articulate this, and then the question is asked how much you pay for it. It was just so much money that I wanted to know. How does this? How much are they paying people that bitter comic book illustrators, nowadays like what is the going rate for commentator Peter? How can this man afford this multimillion dollar baseball? Spun was very successful, but yeah I think. He spent basically every penny he owned and you know I I think in part. He did it because he he wanted to get into the business of making action figures for for sports. And and that happens I, mean he basically that was his way of getting everyone's attention in saying. Hey, I'm serious I. Care About Sports Let me make action figures, and and he did I think it was not only something that he wanted to do one thing that didn't make the film which I I tried to find a way to put it in, but he talked about how. His brothers are all baseball fans, one of the key excitement for him in getting the balls with just to be able to say I've got the baseball. As like well. You got three million dollars for that God. Bless Ya. I know that's right. The kid sweet swinging lefty King Griffey Junior, one of my favorite players growing up as Wa. Carry a bet to this day. was more of a factor. With Sosa mcgwire that people actually a realize. Can you acknowledge how his performance affected them? Certainly I mean one of the crazy things I think about that. Season was that people really went into it from spring training, thinking that either Maguire or junior were gonNA. Make this record. Both of them at hit and high fifties the year before this was an expansion year. Everyone just thought like this is GonNa happen went into the season, thinking that Griffey was was in it. You know right I think if you even remember the Griffey was in it. You forget that he was in it until late August when he had kind of a long slump I think he only hit one one home run and like twenty games and may still hits. Hyphen! which is a tremendous season that gets overlooked by what happened with mcgwire and Sosa, but certainly yeah I mean congruency. Junior had an amazing year that year and. It was in a in addition to to all the stuff. We remember of Sosa and mcgwire. He was. He was hitting the ball longer. In Maguire was sort of famously one of the bash brothers, and he had a great career while he was in Oakland with the athletes and Sammy Sosa wasn't as celebrated as a baseball player, and he said something in the film that really hit accord me, said quote ahead had to continue hitting. Because if not, they're not going to mention me. Why did you include that emphasized that and what that means you from Sami? I thought it was great. It Sammy acknowledged that he wanted to the respect. He thought he deserved, and he does that a few times I think in the film and I mean that's sort of a lighthearted way of like saying like. I turned on sports center at night and if I don't hit a home run like they're not gonNA mentioned. He wanted to be mentioned. He wanted to be acknowledged and I think that one of the things I hope that the film does Sami. Wasn't that well known outside of Chicago before ninety eight, but. That's in part because the comes weren't very good, but the Sammy was was a great player for the cubs. A thirty thirty guy I thirty thirty guy ever in cubs history. He was a top home run hitter in the National League for years. I was one year where he was on track to get close to the record. But was injured in in August so You know was a goal to sort of illuminate. The fact that Sami wasn't just somebody who like. Jumped out of nowhere in June of Nineteen Ninety eight that he meant something in Chicago before that. Implant in Chicago, the weather can be a factor. Do you believe it play as much of a factor as Sammy Sosa states. I mean all I can tell you that. We were there in May of last year to shoot the Saint Louis Chicago series in their. Earliest! May and it's snowed one morning. And I was just like. I grew up in southern Illinois outside the St, Louis and I love Chicago. Chicago is great, but I was just like hell though. Away being at the game it was cold. It was rainy and it was just like damn out. This is football. Weather's that I don't know but yeah. No. I definitely know He. He I believe in when he says he's. He was a hitter that did better when it got warm. Not that good of a hitter in the cold. Certainly, see see that that would be the case. Which I think is also in the film. You'll see you know one of the things that makes a Kerry Wood's twenty strikeout game. All the more impressive is that he's. He's doing it on one of those days, and the rain is coming down east going through like You know thirteen fourteen fifteen strikeouts that day, so? Yeah! It's whether in and regularly I think is probably no joke. With all of what's happening in our society in the world, not just in our country today we kind of have to look at things in stories in history, and currently through the filter of race. And how do you think race played a role in this particular story of mcgwire and Sosa and that summer? I think that people wanted to feel good about the fact that they liked this battle between these two guys who were from different cultures different countries. And different races. That probably made people want pat themselves on the back for feelings so good about it I think in part there still memories of what had happened to Hank Aaron and sort of the ugliness when he was. Setting the all time home run record. So people felt like. Wow, look at how far we've come to celebrate and get excited about the fact that this could be. A champion of homerun record that was held by either of these two guys. There's a somewhat famous. Cartoon! Where the two of them are depicted with their bats wall has been broken in the wall, says racist. You know like that. The two of them had finally solved this problem. They beaten it. And I think. It's just a you know. It's one of those times when. People have wanted to. Congratulate themselves for reaching a certain. Threshold and clearly all of those congratulations were way premature. And we're still. We're still fighting for it. I hope that the people. Look at this though as a story of these two champions, and can get some excitement out of the fact that they did come from different backgrounds, and they have very different stores,

S. after party basically saying but at least the bulls knew from the beginning of the season this was it they knew it was going to be imploded after the ninety seven ninety eight season and they knew that was going to be it one way or another and that was that was the last chance exactly as as Phil Jackson moved into a fair and drain lines like we never had that opportunity that was kind of the elephant in the room at all does Steve what kind of of like let's just enjoy this year for what it is because we don't know where you make sure homes it didn't carry it necessarily carry the same weight because what should have happened we'll come out and say Hey man alive like this is it like so let's let's do this yeah this isn't it you know so but you can just leave because what happened was the question came to us everyday life claim also was asked about our country and it was strictly due to you know because what I was going home it was sad I want to be awarded for like I want to be here we started this thing this is why I want to be and then you kind of have children right I don't know what to do next year like it don't matter but it does matter because you're not the only person that has to answer that question and to be quite Frank with you you're the last person that has there's no question because you don't really say thank you don't say much to the media anything it's all of a sudden

Hells Angel: Sonny Barger

"On a typical weekend nights in Oakland. Nine hundred and sixty five. Sonny Barger had just received a call. One of his fellow hells angels was in trouble at a local bar. Sunny arrived to survey the scene at the four hundred club. He soon spotted the angel in his girlfriend being hassled by half a dozen guys from the local chrome shop. The ringleader had had just enough beers to be brave enough to trash. Talk the toughest guys in Oakland Sunny stocked over cool and collected to tell his brother that it was time to go and for good measure. He stuck twenty-five automatic in the mouth of the ringleader. Just to let him know what would happen if he didn't stop running his mouth. Shut him up sunny and the angel left but the Gulf remained doubled back inside to retrieve her through the window. Sunny spotted the ringleader. Giving her trouble he shook his head big mistake he'd already been warned once. Sunny stormed back in walked up to the guy and hits him on the side of the head with his twenty-five but the gun accidentally went off grazing. The man's skull sunny chuckled to himself. He'd been trying not to hurt the poor idiot but fate at clearly intervened so sunny grant this poor bleeding. Drunken mess bent him over the pool table and shot him again the lesson. Don't mess with a hells angel. Welcome to kingpins apar- Original I'm Alastair murden and I'm Kate Leonard. Every Friday. Let us know how we're doing reach out on facebook and Instagram at podcast and twitter podcast network this week with telling the story of Sonny Banga Legendary President of the Oakland Biker? Gang the hell's angels this week. We'll be exploring his club's rise to national infamy alongside the counterculture movements of the nineteen sixties. Next week we'll see how drugs and crime changed the face of the club forever in Nineteen Sixty three twenty five year old. Sonny Bono was president of the Oakland. Chapter of the hells angels. This meant he sat at the top of the burgeoning empire of outlaw motorcycle clubs known for drinking fighting and dealing drugs. Many anti-establishment organizations like these actually rose to prominence after world. War Two military veterans. Who had trouble fitting back into the square world of the nineteen fifties needed somewhere to go and shoot the breeze? Hollywood saw the appeal to the Marlon Brando movie. The Wild One introduced audiences across America to the world of leather jacket wearing motorcycle. Gangs causing mayhem. Wherever they went. But in the summer of nineteen sixty three sunny bargar had a bigger concern establishing his Oakland Charter as the dominant. Hells Angel Club even more powerful than the Founding San Bernardino Chapter. He also wanted to unite with other outlaw motorcycle clubs around the State. Sure they spent a fair amount of time beating each other up and jockeying for territory but they could put their beef aside to unite against a common foe. The cops so sunny bargar had an idea that would eventually become a hells angels tradition the Labor Day. Weekend RUN OUTLAW. Motorcycle clubs from all over the state would unite in Porterville California a medium sized town halfway between Fresno and Bakersfield there was no Setai Tin Ary. Just a plan to drink smoke weed and get up to whatever. Mischief found them. Sunny Bargar led his Oakland. Hells angels into Porterville to rendezvous with four other leading clubs the stray Satan's the galloping goose's the Coleman sheriffs and the cavaliers in all there were about two hundred bikers invading a town of about nine thousand people. At first everything went according to plan with bikers from different clubs bonding over drugs and women then an Oakland Angel Named Charlie. Magoo was having a drink in a bar minding his own business when an old townie through a beer in his face as soon as Magoo leapt to his feet. The old townie realized he'd made a grave error. There was no way he could take this guy in a fight. The townie bumbled an apology but it was too little too late. Magoo punched him in the face. The old man stumbled so Magoo punched him a second time. Then a third. The old man collapsed on the floor. Knock out but instead of settling things the townie went home grabbed. A gun came back and pointed it at Magoo. This was his town. These angels needed to go Vista Magoo had backup a group of fellow. Angels grabbed townies gun and turned it back around on him. They all took turns beating him until he had to be sent to the hospital. Meanwhile sunny was presiding over a Bachan. All that had taken over the Porterville main drag motorcycles were racing each other down the street the bikers girlfriends and female hangers on. Were having wet. T shirt contests. Everyone was drunk high or both. The angels stopped any vehicles passing through town and forced open. Their car does if they were young women in the car. They attempted to pull them out so they could join the party whether they wanted to on not not. Everyone was thrilled namely the Porterville. Chief of police. He worried he was losing control of the situation so he called out to other counties for backup by nine thirty PM over two hundred and fifty cops rolled into downtown to stop the madness. Their first move was to set up a blockade hoping to direct the bikers. Down One road out of town once was set the chief got on the Bullhorn and announce the bike has had five minutes to clear out. Meanwhile fire trucks spreads soapy water down the main streets making it impossible to race they turn their hoses on bikers. Knocking them off their harleys. Local teens even got into the action climbing to the tops of buildings and throwing bricks down onto the street faced with an army of guns hoses and bricks. The bikers had no choice but to leave town. Sunny led his bikers to the parking lot of Sports Center. A few miles outside of town to assess the situation as they counted their ranks. They realized they were missing for members who had been knocked off their bikes and arrested. Some of the other clubs wanted to give up and peel out. They trusted that lost members to bail themselves out of jail and find their way home but sunny refused to leave without all of his Oakland. Hells Angels Brothers. So at two thirty. Am they turned their bikes around and headed? Back to PORTERVILLE SEVILLE COPS had lined up squad cars to block the bridge leading into town and they were prepared to wait as long as it took for the hells angels to leave town for Good. Sunny wasn't intimidated. By the show of force. He ordered his bikers to line up in a counter blockade across the other half of the bridge. If the cops wouldn't let people into town. Then the hells angels wouldn't let anyone leave either. It was a standoff. Eventually a highway patrol officer approached sunny to try and broker peace sunny told the officer he just wanted his men back and would gladly pay the twenty five dollars for their bail. The officer took them to the portable chief of police. But the chief didn't think twenty five dollars was enough his counter-offer fifty thousand dollars. Sunny exploded in anger. He was trying to play by the rules. And these cops were trying to take advantage of him. Sensing a confrontation. The highway patrol officer scrambled to get the chief to agree to a low a bail sunny and the chief agreed to fifty dollars. And the Hells Angels. Pass the hat to raise the money. It seemed like a fair resolution. Yet by the time sunny and the bikers finally left town. They found another row of cops waiting for them. Ready to pull over any angel. Whose bike wasn't up to code and as a group devoted to customizing their rides. This was damn near all of them. This was the last Straw for Sonny. They were done being stopped by the cops. He ordered his men to outrun the police and they did in just one night sonny. Berger proved himself the undisputed leader of the hells angels and the baddest of all the outlaw bikers in California.

"sports center" Discussed on ESPN Chicago 1000 - WMVP

"Sports center all night tune in to the ESPN daily podcast bring you a deep dive into a single story of one of the S. P. as hundreds of reporters presented by AT T. download subscribing review ESPN daily available wherever you enjoy your podcasts baseball as things start to ramp up in the warm weather climates pitchers and catchers at the very least more in some spots like west Palm Beach with the Astros and it all comes amidst the story this week of Major League Baseball looking to expand the postseason and include some reality TV quirks earlier on ESPN radio just passin I personally like the idea of a tiered system are similar to the NFL's in which not all playoff spots are the same I mean in this case you know the number one seed is really advantageous you get to go right into the divisions are you not to fight for being in there and you know when your division still a big deal because you would get to choose your opponent in the in the playoffs rounded the first wild card round and you know the three game series I getting home games there wouldn't would again be an advantage I think they're absolutely flaws to it though and in one of those that stand out to me is I worry that this is going to kill the trade deadline and listen as somebody who for a living reports transactions I I I know just how big of a deal the trade deadline is the fans like fans love trades and free agent signings they did your it is they don't put me in the head every time you see your team's name mentioned in anything and so the fact that this could be could slow it down a little bit because you're going to have more teams in playoff contention it's a pretty big deal is a big enough deal though to look past all of the the extra money that it should get a generator and theoretically the competitiveness that it's gonna bring probably not which is why I think the chances of this passing are likelier than not but let's remember and all the need to get the players on board with this too and it's gonna be a tough sell the stuff this may be a grassy knoll from from my perspective Jaffa you've known me long enough to know that I I'm always kind of looking for a way to just doesn't feel right you never would do that hi no this feels like baseball did not want this new I DO for playoff format to be thrown out there now but it feels like a re direct like look over here not it was going on with the Astros good nothing this rabbit holes continue there's one more load layers that Astros onion with signs stealing M. as a and are wrong on this grassy knoll or do you think there's something let me put it to you this way look I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next person but if we talk tomorrow Ian talk the next day only gonna be talking about a playoff format that's not gonna be institute till two thousand twenty two thirty you know its baseball really believes that this is the type of thing that's gonna knock the Astros out of the news anchors sorely mistaken and honestly I don't think baseball bats too good I don't think that they're looking at this is something that anything other than a forty eight hour south and we're gonna forget about the turn our focus right back the astronauts and getting that change the narrative in the short term don't make a whole lot of sense unless you can keep rolling out things that are going to change the narrative and I honestly they I don't think there's a whole lot more in baseball that can take any any news value away from the Astros what they're going to stay on the line everybody is gonna be interested to hear the players apology because Jim crane the Astros owner said before spring training it started that is going to happen before we have any kind of pitchers and catchers in any kind of Jules happening you're there at camp knowing that this is going to happen before spring training get started what is it like around this team with that it says the hanging over their heads very interesting tomorrow's going to be a big day all of the Astros are here in west Palm Beach right now all of them there's just blows me pitchers and catchers report tomorrow it's going to be all of them and they're going to meet with Jim crane tomorrow sources tell me and in that meeting they're going to talk about what their strategy is going forward so this is it is certainly a unique task but one that I think is necessary because they haven't said anything and and that's been and it you know all of this has been battling but that particular has been a bad look for the Astros players will be meeting with their owner on Wednesday meanwhile the red Sox name a manager sort of red Sox are still waiting on their punishments Major League Baseball commissioner mark rob Manfred said he wanted to have things wrapped up prior to the start of spring training but that will be the case when the meantime Boston promoting run ready to interim manager saying it's an interim tag out of respect to the ongoing investigation a frightening night it had a hard that's next what's our almighty has been radio the new "sports center" Discussed on WGR 550 Sports Radio

"Radio sports center all night I'm mark Robinson all right we're gonna have some fun right now you had it you've heard of these end of the year our debates these lists these best selves well actually we're going to talk about the end of the decade and have a debate the all NBA team of the decade the two thousand and ten decade The New York Times with the recent article listing Steph curry is the M. B. A. M. V. P. of the decade it's a fight to just say that doesn't sit well with former NBA player and ESPN NBA analyst Quentin Richardson when he was a guest on Freddie in Fitzsimmons well for me man I'll I love Steph curry I'm a huge fan of curry but when I was selling now mark all decade James are I had I had the warring way ahead Kobe Bryant I a cabin there right Hey lebron James and I had the White House based on you know the the stats and everything in the end the wars and everything and that those guys had accumulated from two thousand ten to this point and for me you know you look at Kobe is like yeah he was that and he's still got a championship you still Arab news you know more points than most of the the guards most categories folks need Kobe if Kobe and and and he went out he went out Bobrow sixty points in and he it was the light when you go out there I don't I can't recall the point will Kobe was that form the board still was there they all stand a killer out there on the court so to me he was absolutely Bobby on a pain it has nothing against cari I mean he he he feared the unbelievable job and he was on believe where when I lived you dudes would be waving Kobe brought to the table with a baby a baby a more will let in those situations when I wanted to add it to a good night when I want to check the issue of not you know Kobe bears guard shack you wanna work will crowd and vinyl but it was the same type of situational and check out their that's Quentin Richardson on Freddie and Fitzsimmons that with the end of the NFL regular season just a couple of days away the seed might just be getting a little hotter and hotter for Jason Garrett the cowboys head coach this season may end Sunday it may not but if Garrett is gone ESPN radio host Bobby carpenter said Thursday morning on Golan can lingo Garrett's replacement whoever that might be won't find things to be smooth and simple working for owner Jerry Jones first of all I don't care where he's from thank you doing Jerry Jones it doesn't matter whether you're from Texas New York or Europe thank you it's the fact that you deal with you guys have involved it says program is owner operator man is the GM is the president he's the owner the Buck stops with him so he ultimately gets to make the decisions that he wants so Lincoln rally conversely Oklahoma is a lot of autonomy everyone is getting paid really well like great college coaches do you pay like NFL coaches now and it's nice going into about nine or ten games a year knowing you have better talent it's a lot easier on like your heart and when you're winning eleven games a season and only playing twelve in the regular season as opposed to waiting ten losing six some people are saying your garbage other six weeks so you got to do with that you're doing the owner doing with grown men salaries contracts much more what's great repaired like there's a certain I think level of guys now the just enjoy coaching because I could see that being winter rally especially if it's if he hasn't had that national team should be at that would kind of ingratiate him immortalized in Norman Oklahoma minutes Bobby carpenter twenty twenty will be a reboot type a season in Pittsburgh so says quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who has been out of the Steelers lab since early this season with an injury he spent says he's coming back and going to be as good as ever course that's big talk from big band but there is a concern among the discussion with Victor Cruz rob Nick convention just seen a Anderson on NFL live I mean there's a ton of concerns I mean he's thirty seven years all right now would be thirty eight in March when you look at the type of injury an elbow injury to his throwing shoulder is throwing arm I mean you have to have some level of concern especially coming back could be another year older what type of band will we see what type of quarterback will he be angle be the quarterback this jump in front of people like we just all right there and taking hits and and I don't think he's going to be or he wants to be that type of quarterback at this juncture of his career he wants to be a guy that's obviously going to be do do most of his work inside the pocket throwing the ball to his playmakers which I think he can be effective with the if he comes back healthy and he has all of his play make is that he has now I think he has a number one in ju ju I think he's got a running back and Connor I think yeah I mean that defense yeah the defense has nine first round draft picks I mean he has the tools around him to for that team to be successful it all boils down to how will Ben Roethlisberger come back off of this injury because that's going to tell the tale aware this team goes and where the future let's see this is gonna come back as a quarterback or alignment it right now but I I get it I get it but this look it's an elbow injury in your an older quarterback coming back from that's going to be tough like you said Vic it's just it's tough here's how accurate these look while it is working hard but maybe you know even hardly now I'm not saying it is home to about a year to keep it off with you exactly right yeah I'm here but when you have an injury and so early in the season I think that's a a different aspect of you have the then the injury early you should be working and looking a little bit better than he does right now if you want to be back for next season I mean look it comes real quick once the season's over off season starts really fast so I think if you're looking towards next season you would want to see him progressing a little bit quicker so you think that his weight or what he per right now looks like is in the case and we have or how much he's been we have how much you've been working of course course is how much cardio how much running is all that stuff comes into effect when he's going to be a quarterback next season is going to be getting hit is going to have to be condition not just in his elbow and shoulder his arm is whole bodies got to be in shape because taking hits from linebackers coming in on you your core your legs that all has to be strong or else you could have another injury somewhere else now before the final day of the NFL regular season you've got the college football playoff semifinal Saturday the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl featuring number two Ohio state against third seed Clemson Ryan day the Ohio state head coach the talking about how the Buckeyes are going to try and handle the defending national champs yeah sure me always wanna start fast and in a couple of both times their basketball games is that a good deal plan coming out of the gates and I thought our defense an excellent job of adjusting as the time as the the game went on and when you look at the last two games the second half our defense played lights out but certainly want to always start fast I think that's important we had great.

"Tigers back to the NFL Kyler Murray the rookie quarterback said he believes cliff Kingsbury's version of the air raid offense will be successful in the NFL and said first year coach is made easier on him by incorporating a healthy mix of verbiage Murray use at Oklahoma and what Kingsbury use a Texas tech Pedro Gomez was at cards cabin was also on sports center was you been handy if day one is any indication of what's to come it could be fantastic he was incredibly shark incredibly crest nineteen of twenty two on his passes an incredible catch made by Larry fitzgerald at one point it just it was amazing to see now there is a big difference he's obviously at the NFL level now at Oklahoma he's running a very similar offense that he ran at Oklahoma the difference is the way the plays are being signaled in to him cars uses in the visual the signals from the sign on link it will give its own he'd give it out and so both of us are working through that process and we really hammered it throughout the spring we're doing to every officer we chances falls well I think it's more difficult for him because he's so he's just in a visually and and go on but he's picked it up for for me go into the system you know they want want rookie minicamp balls a lot more comfortable than probably any other quarterback out there so I think it's helped a lot now we know that Kyler Murray's a rookie but head coach Kliff Kingsbury is also a rookie NFL coach he has brought into in treating instances here to this ball club that are very interesting he is allowing players to have a fifteen minute cell phone break during meetings at that point they can text whatever they want they can post things on social media another interesting thing that he did today in the middle of practice practice stopped and a fruit cart rolled out with pineapples watermelons other other fruits players came over Doug again and went right back out to practice what is this world coming to please I'm sure Tom Coughlin will incorporate that cellphone break Jaguars camp

Women to close out WrestleMania for first time

"WWE is going to make a little history with wrestlemainia this go around at outta MetLife. Big. It's a big deal. It's a huge deal for the first time ever. It's an all woman main event, it's a three way match, you know, with Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, whose champion were raw women's champions around the rousing shallow flair and Becky Lynch does the freeway match. It would be the main event. Some would call it the final match while from us. Call the main event Seles match. Yeah. So. You know, some folks thought maybe Brock listener. And Seth Rollins will be the main event, it's not universal title. This is for the raw women's championship. And you know. It says a huge deal. This is great not just for the business. It's just for the restaurant business, but it's great for women's wrestling because women's wrestling over the past several years has come such a long way, not just from WWE other companies to and the women aren't just looked at as as it used to be years ago. When it just I candy, he's a legitimate athletes. These are legitimate performance legitimate WB superstars, and these three ladies Shala flare rows and Becky alleged. They're gonna tear it down. It's going to be great. It's going to be great. And to do it at MetLife. Another just we're wrestlemanias. Always at these big big stadiums. Just like the SuperBowl, isn't pack them. Okay. You're gonna have close to eighty thousand people. Okay. At wrestlemainia people from all over WorldCom. And that just makes me so proud like as a former wrestler, a former wrestling broadcaster. You know, how many years it's taken? But it's finally like I was saying during the break to you and Andrew bogusch. Not really awesome. How so many worldwide mainstream sports verticals in sports, broadcasts companies, and and worldwide entertainment companies supporting with w w pro wrestling does on their websites on TV just a little while move says, you know, you're going to have Roman reigns. And all ladies the ladies in the main advantages named ought to be a sports center on ESPN on TV. I mean, so and and they're going to be doing suffered ESPN they did stuff last year too. So I'm just saying I just so it's just so refreshing that it's the the entertainment value is respected by the sports world. And the athleticism is is respected by the bulk of the sports world. So, but this is a huge thing. I mean, this is huge. And it's it's happy for I don't be rude. I'm happy for Charlotte flair and Becky Lynch of these ladies they paid their dues a lot of years. Lot of skin in the game. A lot of. A years. Lots of years, okay before WWE, Rhonda Rousey, she's new to the game. She'd been paid dues and the wrestling business. Great great MMA. She's a UFC hall of Famer. She's a amazing grand champion judoka. Which is a a junior champion. So amazing athlete and she brings massive stop power. But I'm old school wrestling traditionalists, and those two other ladies paid a lot of dues flair and Lynch, but Ronda Rousey is helping draw draw the helps draw the main event, obviously because I'm a stop out. Yes, she does. But not as popular as the other two amongst wrestling fans. No rescue domino. You said and you're right. And the reason is because bring name power put the wrestling fan or fans of Becky Lynn me the reason is because of respect. Yeah. Because they know like I just said the wrestling fan knows that those ladies paid a lot of deuce and Rhonda hasn't. But that's not the main reason she she's her character, which is good. They have for doing this more out of health the fans and a bunch of nerds in their basement. She's going that route which is called cheap. It's easy to do that works. It's fine. So that's helping hurt that helps her as a heel as a bad guy dead girl, get that heat. But the fans also know when she talks on a Mike is just terrible is no juicy. There's no other way to put. She's yes. I'm sorry. She's great, and my disrespecting handing she's done athletically, or what she means in for the WWE attached. But I mean, I just look at I look at the other two is just better overall. When you put everything in place. I, you know, I look at them as better overall women rested. And I just want to say this to like anybody who thinks wrassling. I listen, you watch any stuff leading up to the smack just for example, what Shala flare Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, go on YouTube goal. WBZ's website watch the physicality that's happening with these ladies. Yeah. Okay. Watchhouse fifties kicks and punches are that will watch. And so anybody who thinks any different is a dumb ass. It just doesn't stand and they have this archaic thinking, and it's it's sad because that's kind of like uncalled Alec. It's like wrestling's embraced now. It's it's sitting here on a national sports radio show. And we're talking about this. You'll have you'll have broadcasters here on CBS sports radio. Talk about wrestlemanias that leads to on WFAN here. Locally to know wherever you might anywhere anywhere. You live right, right. Talking about this. Because it like I said they're fixing to be on ESPN. Right. It's it's clearly it's clearly more mainstream and has got more mainstream as we've gone along here. And I, you know, put all that, you know, everything you said is true TASR. I just think you look at the growth of the women are the women's wrestler. The woman wrestler in professional wrestling is just remarkable. Because you mentioned in terms of now, I remember the days of sable, right? And not even not even go back where you know, you mentioned candy and everything was calling that stuff. You know that birthday. We'll see. So. So it's so significantly different the way that they're treated and appreciated now much significant. Yeah. And they've earned it. I mean, and they do a great job. I mean, we've interviewed you know, we interviewed Charlotte all week. That's right special winter, she was doing stuff a special, which is which the WWE designate job their outreach into the communities, and helping those that need it, and she talked about that. And and we know how big of a star Becky Lynch's and Ronda Rousey, she's got some work to do in terms of. I don't know if it's ever gonna get there with her on the Mike, but we know how great of a of a physical specimen. Well, then the thing is I do think like just a my opinion that I think they if if if if something McConnell McGregor happens would w w at wrestlemania guy the table set here, you get this main event here like we said earlier, I talked about this earlier. And I'll talk about more on my podcasts on the tashaun get deeper in the woods on the wrestling. But the thing is like you got you got one of the girls listing Becky Lynch and who's probably gonna win the championship. At wrestlemainia, and for those that don't know harmonica. Her name is she's the man so speculates as you know, Muslim. She's the man that's like the gimmick. And 'cause she's the man, but she's a woman. But it's it's just a gimmick. Right. But anyway, she's from Ireland. Okay. We know Conor McGregor is from Ireland. We know Rhonda rows economy McGregor offer ends. I could see something happened where I would strongly predict if f Conor McGregor gets involved. You know, and everybody's gonna hack this for me on this radio station. Just throw some credit over here to task. I would think that Conor McGregor helps Becky somehow some way maybe if he's involved win the match that'd be cool and win the championship. Because then they could go down the road where Rhonda's pissed at McGregor, and they could do something potentially further down the

Chargers vs Steelers: Post-game analysis

"Incident. This is sports center right now, I'm on Tony Collins. There was no shortage of controversy in last night's game. Between the chargers and Steelers all eating to quarterback Philip rivers seventh career comeback in a game in which his team trail by sixteen or more points. Let's take you out to Pittsburgh. We'll take this up for the chargers trailing thirteen to nothing in the I keep your eye on right? Tackle Sam Tevi. Let's take a false start. No plaque and Philip rivers. Throws deep to Travis Benjamin for a forty six yard touchdown. He J watt Live Aid at the no com. So in the fourth charges were rally sixteen down three seconds left. Mike bats Leon's for the game. Winning thirty nine yard field goal attempt offsides on the Steelers. So now that's from thirty four yards out. And the Steelers are off-side once again so now bachelor from twenty nine yards. He gets a done Tomlin was asked about the chargers. First touchdown. Guys. I'm not getting into all of the officiating elements of what transpired at high. It was communicated. I'm just not is fruitless it doesn't change the outcome of the game. We're not gonna put it into the ref sans. We need to play better football. Like I said we didn't play we didn't play well enough on offense. Now, let's get you back. I take Steelers sixteen point lead at home at Philip rivers. Engineers a seventh career comeback win to handle a three point loss to improve to nine in three on the season. Pittsburgh oh in three versus AFC west opponents this season. Max was this one more about the chargers or the Steelers? This is about the chargers, and they beat a good team in Pittsburgh on the road. Pittsburgh in the history of their franchise. It never come had never lost the game. They were leading by that by sixteen points. I mean at home in those circumstances the first time ever one hundred seventy wins. No losses and the chargers did it. This is about the chargers. And I've said for the preseason I believe they're going to make the Super Bowl this year. It tested my faith a couple of weeks ago with the turnover at the end of the game Philip rivers at a certain point you go. Listen, maybe you're not just snake bit. Maybe this franchise does it to themselves. Maybe Philip rivers isn't destined to makes. Of course. I had those thoughts not stick with them. When posted gets back. Let's see what's what he was making plays Derwin James making plays. They have stars on the defense. They obviously had stars on the offense with or without Melvin Gordon and Philip rivers guys. He was going down. It piece by piece at times with guys tackling them in the face of pressure sticking his receivers. He was so big time. He lied manning had his time to Super Bowls. Ben Rothlisberger had his time. You know, even the off sides, of course, the charges miss a field goal. And they're going to lose the game. All that. So chargers, right. Like, that's the way they lose sometimes new organization like that a player like rivers just needs a break to get away. What's up break went their way? And they got the win on the road. These are the two they've looked like the most well balanced teams in the AFC so far this season. And the chargers went and took it to them and beat them on the road. This is the charger season story is about them. Yesterday. Score is not about them about. The Steelers, and it was about still because it still has had a twenty three to seven lead and Lewitt. It's that simple to me the charges. Anthony Lynn is doing a fabulous job. He deserves a lot of credit. I'm very impressed with what I saw him. Do. They remain compose. They stayed with their game plan despite being down sixteen that says a lot about the coach their belief in him, etc. Etc. Mave respect for that. They they did it. And when special teams they did it with their running game. They did it with Philip rivers. They deserve a lot of credit for that. I get that. But my bottom line is this you had a twenty three to seven lead on your home turf. A right in those situations. Careerwise franchise wise you like two hundred zero into and you lose a game to the Los Angeles. Chargers. I'm looking at Big Ben Rothlisberger missing a wide open receiver. Nobody within twenty yards FM. Missed a missed that. Touchdown throw. Threw an interception again as well. I'm pointing to that. I'm looking at it. From that perspective. I'm looking at the defense. I'm looking at the secondary. And I'm saying to myself once again, we find ourselves with the Steelers team that is good. But shows us as a season Wayne that is. Good as they are. There is something missing. That says to you. I should not believe in them when it counts whether it's against New England and Tom Brady who by the way, they'll play again, they'll play in a couple of weeks they've gotten the wall leads and the New England Patriots on their schedule. Two of the last four weeks this season. I'm damn near depressed thinking about it for crying out because once again, just win at six straight. But they lost a game. They needed to win. And they should have wanted to get the Denver Broncos. Now, they find themselves as a team that's just gonna win their division. Go to the postseason. And then we got a hope

"ESPN, app Allegra, Pilion this morning for Mike Golic junior Kennedy talk a little bit about the New York Jets and their quarterback situation. Sam, darnold get a chance to show what he can do in a real game on Friday meanwhile the big, question hovering over New York Giants camp is the contract status of Odell Beckham junior his representation leaving giants camp yesterday without a deal getting. Done because impart the giants have pegged Beckham's market value at. A total annual average salary lower then she's wide receiver Sammy Watkins according to. Our Josephine Anderson here's the latest on Odell Beckham junior's contract situation from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter got a, situation here where both sides want to get. This done before the start of, the regular season both sides are motivated, to get it done and when the deal is done assuming that they can work it out I would imagine it would make him the highest paid wide receiver in the game because you could dress up a deal to look any way you want in really come down. To the structure the deal and the guarantee Right but the big thing for the giants and for Odell Beckham mystic get that deal done to give him that long term security these sought after that the fellow wide receivers from his draft already have gun Adam Schefter on the six. PM sports, center, last night. Talking. About the Odell Beckham junior contract situation and I've I've read some some reports that people believe this is trending in the right. Direction which is which, is all well and good but I'm I'm I'm sorry If I'm Odell Beckham junior's, agent and, the giants say well we're going. To give Odell, a salary That's a total annual average salary less. Than that of Sammy Watkins I'm not just leaving I'm laughing in their. Faces and, then I'm leaving Sammy Watkins is nice player got a contract. From the Kansas City Chiefs last year Sammy Watkins had seventy catches for five hundred ninety three yards he has one account a. One thousand yard season, twenty had a really good year and thirteen games just over one thousand yards, nine, touchdowns nice player but it's Sammy Watkins I think, the Kansas. City Chiefs, overpaid him. And and yet you know to to bring him into the, conversation with, Odell Beckham junior. Who is in the conversation among those. Being the best wide receiver in the NFL that is ludicrous ludicrous and I get it it's a. Negotiation and you gotta start from somewhere and okay so the giants. Up their asking price. I mean I I get, it it's gotta start. From somewhere and you know you're probably gonna low ball the guy I. Mean I, understand but if if our motel Beckham junior Afam Odell Beckham. JR junior's age I'm sitting down I'm trying to get a deal done what would be the highest paid wide receiver in the. NFL I'm watching this, wide receiver market explode And you mentioned the name Sammy Watkins it only better be because he's, among the names whose salaries will be dwarfed by what I'm about to get or what I'm about to get for my client owed l. Beckham junior and Sammy Watkins, are not in the, same stratosphere not, even is not even in the same. Conversation. If I'm talking about best wide receivers. In the, NFL, no-one's Mel yes. Sammy Watkins that's not even. A name you, pull out to sound really, really smart. And nothing, against him. Again nice player valuable player you know maybe helps out the, Kansas City, Chiefs this year. But I'm sorry Beckham junior's agent and. I'm looking at those numbers and the comp in other the comparable dollar amount is to Sammy Watkins We are laughing at the New York Giants First and. Last on ESPN radio and the ESPN app all is last night on what was happening with the Houston Astros who have Roberto Osuna who joined his teammates on Sunday and met with them in Los Angeles and had what by all accounts was a productive meeting with his new team-mates Roberto soon as the controversial pitcher whose obtained at. The trade deadline from the Toronto Blue Jays he made his Astros debut last night in San. Francisco in a game against the giants here thanks to our. Friends at KB EMMY not a seven ninety AM is audio of. Roberto, Osuna entering the game in San Francisco one nothing giants spot them of the eighth inning and Roberto Ceuta the new Astro making his Astros debut his first pitch to Alan Hansen pinch. Hitter is. A strike on the outside corner. All right there was a smattering of boos I guess you really couldn't. Hear, him that much in the background, ozone ah for his part on the. "To be with you guys is my second locker room and i'm glad to hold down the ladies front i love it it's gonna be a great show today uh we will discuss ongoing saga between zeke elliott an nfl the mlb empires have a a weird sort of protest shorts are there's a locker room so we will be sharing our stories from the field the court but i want start today with the continued silent air at the protest around the nfl we had michael bennett on sports center in a press conference on august eighteen is saying that he would like some support from his white teammates and here's him saying that he wanted to support and he wanted to find a way to be able to understand will be able to off on a way to earn his community and find out what is what can you do an in great difficulty lies they still tuned to be able to come to this point two vehicle to want to be able to helping support do usga so michael bennett asked for support from white teammates he got it with justin brit in philadelphia marriage it comes holding up the best getting support from chris long and last night the quarterback of the raiders derek car putting his hand around khalil match shoulder guys to start with with with janette here do you think this changes the way people view these protest i do think that it changes the way people view this protests in you know large a lot of it comes down to the anthem and this is going to be a continual narrative as long as things like charlottesville persist in society so a lot of times people think would concombinate oh it's going away no it's still alive the players are still conscious human being are passionate about their community so it'll keep going on and a lot of times it come down to me speaking of colin kaepernick his political views do you think a guy like that that's a huge talking point a guy like that deserves to lose his job over his political views and i don't know if you guys noticed current and.

"On sports center breaks down how elliot came to base these sixgame suspension that was announced friday it particularly what was different about the nfl's approach this time what compared with past investigation that league is determined to not look as bad on domestic violence issues as it has in the past i mean it is partially about perception right they got the right rice situation all roger goodell admitted that not long after the josh brown issue last year with the giants kicker obviously the way he wants to be in the right place on this is not just about perception i it's important to remember we're talking about domestic violence issues and i don't know whether ezekiel elliott is guilty or not but if he is responsible for what his accuser charges him with then it's important that the league take it seriously and that we as a society take it seriously and not just look like they're taking it seriously but the nfl does operate in public and it does want to be seen as a body that can execute these kinds of investigations responsibly and reach reasonable conclusions things like the flake gate the saints bounty scandal hit the they they kind of haven't really worked out in terms of public perception the way the league would prefer them to so you take roger goodell out of the investigative end of it in you diversify the group that is investigating me in terms of their backgrounds and there is histories with such matters and you let him make a ruling based on their findings this is a process it's more likely to resemble what happens in these situations going forward than what we've seen in the past very interesting we should know that peter harvey who was one of those four people did go out and say wanted to emphasize we just made a recommendation it's still at the end up to roger goodell to make the determine nation cadel might actually end of hearing the appeal will that to here on that before let you go the league men in the letter they set elliott there's a really strong language and they're like suspension or if this continues the word expulsion was ooze have been how serious is the league about this in six games is almost fifty percent of a season's that's already pretty syria so you think of something else happens then it's got.

nfl giants ezekiel elliott peter harvey syria elliot domestic violence roger goodell josh brown fifty percent
