"Sports band when you lose a game like you did last night. You just move on. Yeah, missed opportunity for the wizards hopefully damn they could move on from this one and it doesn't sting because this was a bad loss for the wizards. "Types of more traditional games. I don't know if I would call chess a niche a niche game. I mean, it's definitely a game that everyone on the planet largely knows. Yeah, it is definitely niche as an eSport, I guess, but like everyone knows chess. So yeah, I mean, I think I would love to see more data. I would love, you know, maybe like a new zoo report or something like that with just around like the streaming data. Because I would be interested to see chess versus some of the other things that we consider less niche that maybe are or you got report. Well, guys. And I'm curious, do you think he's getting a bigger deal for misfits than he got at TSM? Like, dollar wise, right? Is he making more money with misfits than the TSM? Or do you think because the hype around chess has sort of died down a little bit to Chris's point, queen's gambit sort of put chess on the mainstream map that this is a smaller deal? Who here thinks it's a bigger deal than the TSM one? It's probably larger if you consider sponsorship revenue in other earned opportunities. But as far as cash retainer, cash up front, I got to say it's definitely smaller. This guy went over a year without being signed and wasn't even signed for a full year in the first place. Great that he went to another tier one orc, but the last I checked the Forbes rankings. I thought TSO was significantly higher than misfits also on that, no disrespect to either of them. They're killing it, respectively, but I don't think it was necessarily a lateral move and also the timing. You can't argue against that timing that's to your point, Paul, queen scanned it at its height when he was signed to TSM, not so much now, though they did just come out with that. I hope I'm not stealing a story, but Netflix is coming out. It's okay. So smooth. It says like Jimmy said, I think they're just expanding their reach. It's true. Samuel says, agreed to me, I can see the chest enthusiast being a little bit older with more discretionary income. I'm sure there's data around that. And that's the kind of, that's the kind of study that you have does. And when you're looking for, you know, this is the kind of interesting thing. Yeah, I talk about this all the time in terms of the actionable data. Like if you're a brand and you're like, hey, should we sponsor hikaru, right? Should we, should we be putting our brand next to him? You would want to know what something like this, right? Like, does his audience are they older? Do they have more money to spend? It's one thing to, yes, it's one thing to say, yeah, probably because it's chess and it's another thing to actually know. But yeah, that's an interesting point. It definitely would have an impact. Sorry, Ben go ahead. But I'm Paul. I mean, I'd say it was at Sam's hypothesis about their older demographic. But they're probably not as many on Twitch by that same logic. So I think Jimmy's original points expanding the circle of which people who are on Twitch and other things they might be interested in others they may have. And I guess it's really hairs here, but is chess, and you support I know you have this conversation. I thought the video game today. I have a video games had to be core. I get why eSports companies are owning other content on Twitch. Chats. But I want to hear Chris's take. So I'll put it to you like this. The answer is no, because it causes a slippery slope where poker is played online. It is a game that you can play with other people and you need skill. So are we not going to adopt that just to ensure that we can prove some kind of valuation for our company? No. I mean, it is a game I'm glad that people are enjoying it, but it's called eSport. I do think it's a little bit of a stretch. However, we're constantly adapting the definition as we try to find our audience. So we can be creative now but I do think, you know, ten years from now, we're going to be very confident with an eSport actually is. I mean, it sounds like you need to define a gate that excludes chess, right? If that's the belief. And so what is that gate, right? What is an E sport have to have the chest does not have? I guess the question is is that the video game piece that you have a problem with first or is it the competitive beat? Because someone who's streaming a single player game, that is that an eSport? Does it matter? We talk about it in terms of the gaming industry and digital entertainment. I guess does it matter how we strictly define eSports? I would put speed running as an eSport before I put chess only from the perspective of I can take a chessboard which actually have behind me somewhere. And I can play that with just without a video game console or a PC. That would be my gatekeeping. Can I play without using a video game console or PC? Yes or no? You have dictionary. We describe it as organized competitive video games like that's what any sport. And then gaming content streamed or otherwise is a different end. Got it. I was like very formulaic definitions. And I don't even disagree with them, but then I come back to like, does it matter? Why do we have to define those, right? Exactly. Quality broadcasting and own various talent across X Y and Z yeah, I mean, as a business, you can be in different business lines. There's nothing stopping you, but I think the definition is important just so that when we talk about it, we're all sort of on the same page. These definitions do matter from an ability to communicate as an industry effectively, I think. All right guys, I want to, before we move on, Ben, having been here is obviously a huge treat. For those of you who don't know, Ben's at YouGov, you give us a tremendous supporter of this live stream. And they produce the absolute best data on gamers games, eSports fans all around the world. I want to do what we call a YouGov insight segment today. It's a lot of fun. We have data from Ben from YouGov a study they actually did and we're going to talk about it and it's a treat every time. So I'm going to bring it up here. And this is everyone's I think favorite current topic, NFTs. Right now. The one that hurts a lot. We covered, we covered on this show. We cover it on meta business, which everyone should go subscribe to if you're not already, it's a show I do with the juice. Talking about NFTs and the metaverse and gaming. But I'm going to bring this up and I'm going to let you drive this here. So I'll bring the first slide up, so the headline here, the title here, fan interest in NFTs, and the first question asked is, how much do you know about NFTs? Go ahead, Ben. Yeah, so there was kind of the question here is recently NFTs have become a topic interest on a scale from one to 5. How would you rank your knowledge in it? So that the brand takeaway here, the red line, our eSports fans, then we're looking at traditional sports bands, which was a combination of MLB NHL NFL and BA. And then also looking at gen pop. So really the takeaway is in the trend. So the first question is people who said they'd never heard of NFTs between kind of like Q four of last year bleeding in January, and then the last three months. And we see across the board, it's down, right? But just looking at the order of things, eSports fans, the entire time, or at least likely to agree that they've never heard of NFTs and today, only 7%.

"MacOS can. With new hardware hitting next week, you will not be surprised to hear that new operating systems are hitting next week as well. Ahead of those Apple has made a bunch of release candidates available to developers. Two pieces from Apple cider spread the word, one announces the RC for macOS Monterey 12.3 while the other announces release candidates for iOS and iPadOS 15.4 watchOS 8 5 and tvOS 15.4. I will be really surprised about what does not release the same candidates to the public beta program this week. And again, I was really surprised last time too. Not birthday cake surprised more, why did I say that out loud surprised? Anyway, OS updates are headed our way and quickly. And now concentrating on the wrong thing. Do you ever wonder when apple makes these pre recorded presentations? I saw some people complaining on Twitter on Tuesday about the fact that Apple said nothing during Tuesday's event about Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, which is entering its third week. Some defended the company, pointing out that there is no telling when the various segments were shot. Others said, yeah, okay, but they could have talked on some sort of acknowledgment. Personally, I think apple's statement on the situation, both to the public and employees moving Crimea back to Ukraine and the maps and weather apps. Plastering donation legs for humanitarian aid across all of its services, suspension of hardware, sales in Russia, and mixing App Store ad sales in Russia all send a pretty strong message. Additionally, from a presentation point of view, how does one talk about the atrocities being visited upon the people of Ukraine then say, but enough about that? Let's sell some iPhones. It turns out Apple actually did acknowledge the situation, though in a subtle way. A piece from called the Mach points to Apple CEO Tim Cook's outfit for the peak performance performance, according to the site, cook MC the event wearing an eye catching yellow sport band on his Apple watch paired with his blue sweater, cook seemed to be making a subtle gesture of support for Ukraine, yellow and blue are the colors of the Ukrainian national flag. While cook didn't call out the situation in Ukraine during the presentation, the cults as the color pairing seems unlikely to have been a coincidence. Speaking of watch bands and colors, the apple accessory spring collection is out. I download blogs as the Cupertino company hit with new colors for Apple watch bands and the iPhone MagSafe cases on Tuesday, according to the piece, the new colors are for the silicone cases for all iPhone 13 models, including the mini and pro max, there's lemon zest, blue fog, eucalyptus,.

"Man in the world. One of the great advertising campaigns you will ever see well. I think I'm talking to one of the most interesting women in the world because I'm reading a story on Emily Companion who is our next guest, and it's from sf Gate in San Francisco Gate back from 2000 and nine And it's very interesting because you get the background of what this how this person has lived her life. I mean, my goodness Law school internship in the South African township last year, a volunteer with orphans in Uganda. I mean, she lives in al Media would like to ultimately illegal owners, our correspondent for a major TV news network. Wow, that was 2000 and eight. I think Emily, the plan came to fruition. Well, thank you for that. I am hardly one of the most interesting people in the world. But I appreciate that kind Introduction. I remember that article. Well and yeah, that was a long time ago. It's sort of It is neat for me to think back and think that I have achieved that goal, which was really a dream come true. So it's an honor to be here in that capacity with you today, Joe. It's interesting. I'm looking at a picture of you, Emily and People know you as the co host of outnumbered, for whatever reason. You're You're blonde, but you died your roots black, So I'm not sure what that's about. What is the natural color? The guy Vincent audience wants to know. Yeah, even though this is radio, not T V ever even picture from this voice, someone with Burnett hair? That's how I am right now. That's how I am naturally. But you know what? It's really fun to be every color so Hey, I might surprise you guys tomorrow with a new hair color. You never know. Wow. And of course, outnumbered every day noon. Eastern clocks News. Do you miss being a raider it in other words you were you were captain. I believe, right. You've got to go to Hawaii to do a shoot every year. I mean, that sounded like Quite the life is just something eventually. You're like, Okay, This was fun. But now I want to go work in the law Professional. Obviously, you want to go into TV? What was it something that you scratch the itch? You got to be a cheerleader for a professional sports team and one of the great iconic sports teams of all time in the Oakland Raiders. Is that something that you just now grew or what? What was the process in terms of getting to where you are now? Yeah. You know, there's a saying on the squad, at least for our squad, and it was that you You always retire either one year too soon or one year too late. And what that meant was that you always either. Do you want to go back? You want one more year? You want many? Or you maybe stay with it so long. That final year you're like, Oh, my God. My body can't do this anymore. Like this is exhausting. They can't keep up. You know, I have to move on or whatnot. So if I had to pick one of those two, it would Really be that it was too early, But at the same time I cheered for a perfect amount of time. I was already a practicing attorney. At that time. I was lucky to have the support of a firm that they were huge sport bands. They represented big names in the sports industry at the time, including like Barry Bonds, personal trainer and the like They had their holiday party at the Oakland Coliseum at one of my games, so I enjoyed a really supportive atmosphere for all those years. Definitely the highlight was visiting the troops in Kuwait and Iraq that to this day remains. I think one of the greatest honor of my life because that was really an incredible experience to see. How those? I mean, Frankly, I saw them as a voice, some of them right. They were so young and to see to be amongst all the deployed. They're putting their lives on the line for us, especially as we reflect on that. In this this end of the 20 year wars as we approach the 20th year anniversary of 9 11 it really, um it really brings home the experience that I had there for simply two weeks that people Who served our country had for months and multiple deployments on then, and the like. But I think you know to answer a question More specifically, when I retired. It was at a perfect time. And I always it was like It's like leaving maybe a relationship or something that or a job. Where where it took up So much of my time that when I was done with it all of a sudden I had like a life again. And so that I think was the thing that I was grateful for, and that way because I was I was ready for that at that time, But I mean, you know, not a day goes by that I don't miss it. But you know, I'm I'm way too old and can definitely not keep up anymore. So I'm enjoying it as just a fan, And that's exactly where I want to be right now we're talking to 31 year old Emily companion. It's always just, you know, minus it by a little and eventually you believe it, So they just follow my role. And were you? Were you nervous? Because I know I would be your in Iraq and I mean, were you nervous at all for you For your safety? It would ever kind of come over you or your like this seems pretty secure. We had an amazing full time. Um, like I don't looking back. I don't even actually know what their their actual titles were in their capacity And maybe they provide security for all. High profile people who come, you know, I assume, but basically the team that did that all the time that we're always armed. And whatever. There was one time when the Black Hawk we were in had to deploy a heat seeking missile. To, um like, apparently Like, Take care of the thing that was headed for us, But I also think that that at the time it was explained to us that know what happens all the time. It's okay. And I just had so much faith in these guys that were with we spent a night in Sauder City after our Black Hawk was diverted. For a medical evac and we stayed up all night. The Colonel they're in charge. Had three daughters at home. And so he was like, I'm not going. You know No one's going to sleep while you girls are here under my watch, and and we're going to take care of you and see it through the end. We just stayed up all night with these guys playing cards and hanging out. The city was one of the most dangerous places or at times it was. It was really incredible that we were even there, and after we left, we had such a great night with those guys just boosting Murano all and that's what we were there for was to bring them a piece of home. Piece of Americans slice of pie for them, and to let them know that they were not forgotten that they were thought about and prayed for every day from those of us at home and a little bit after we left, those guys ran over an IED, the the colonel in charge of us that night lost both of his legs. And at least one of those boys lost his life and he was younger than I was. I mean, I'm eternally 31 sure, but in reality he was younger than I was, and he gave his life for this country. And so at every moment, I think there's always an appreciation for that fact, of course, and honoring those who have served and paid the ultimate sacrifice. But it also provides that bittersweet edge because that whole experience was amazing. But It also had the reality like the reality was that it wasn't safe. It wasn't safe for anyone there because America was at war, even if we were there, Um, peacekeeping globally, right? Yeah, sure, Exactly..

Let's talk about this project because it goes back to the hundred seventy s it does i i met. Tim was the first roxy music tour of australia. Nineteen seventy five and we hit arrived in sydney of this incredibly long journey. Used to take back then. And you're absolute exhausted. Ya not roxy overseas and appeared onscreen spans returns who had just come from from new zealand and they were really wild and wacky and dressed in bizarre way and i just couldn't believe it wasn't what i was expecting us and then i go to the sound check the next day of the gig we're going to do and they are the sport band so i watched them from the side of the stage and i felt really good so i put my head into the dressing room and they came off and said his anything. "Seasonal depression. We hear about over share. It really it can for a of people. We moved up here in august of two thousand six and that first winter i really struggled. I was really tired all the time. And honestly i didn't know what depression felt like but i in working with my doctor. I was officially diagnosed with depression for the first time in my life we had moved from colorado which you know the sun can shine there almost every day of the year and here we can get some pretty long spans of cloudy days and as i mentioned before the daylight hours can really decrease and pretty limited. I think it it really. I was surprised how much it affected me. And it still can. If i don't help myself through those seasons and so what i experience is often called a seasonal affective disorder. Sad sad it's a very fitting Description of it. I've learned that getting outside when the sun is out like yesterday even just going for a walk. Even though it was four the sun was out at. It does so much to help me. And i just. I was thinking about that yesterday. How so many parallels to Scriptural life you know if we soak in the light you know it's to our benefit. I just thought it was really cool to be thinking on that yesterday. Yeah i have used like a full spectrum light for like light therapy before was just gonna ask that. Yeah they're really cool. They're very effective. They're worth the money if if you definitely Brogel with that especially. If it's a cloudy winter. I'll get that out pretty regularly and it all it all it takes is typically like sitting in. I just have kind of off the side on my computer and it just while i work in the morning i have it on for about half hour. It can make a difference so but honestly one of the best things. I've learned to do during the darker. Season is to stay busy and create more right so much more music in the wintertime than i do in the summer. There's a benefit. i guess. Staying busy is always is really helpful. So that the that light doesn't give you a tan though. Does it now darn it. I mean i'm like as white as a sheet i am. I don't believe me. I definitely changed tone in this summer. I'm outside all summer and it's glorious we. I live up here for the summer. I i really really do you. Mention that you weren't born in alaska. What kind of a childhood did you have. why did you decide to move up to alaska tease. You know is my husband's idea to move up here. And i thought he was joking when he i was like let's go to alaska. What so. But i you know i honestly. I had a really good childhood. I grew up in the midwest Are you know we were around. Extended family For the first twelve years of my life I have tons of fond. Memories of family gatherings really deep friendships. During that time. And then when i was twelve we moved to colorado and we moved to a really small town with a small k through twelve school. And there i ha-. I had a lot of opportunity because it was a small school. I could participate in sports band. Musicals maury jeff. I could do. I could participate in anything available and my parents were really really supportive of all those endeavors and pursuit. We were taught to strive for excellence. They educational success was a pretty huge priority in my family and i was blessed to graduate top of my class and go one to engineering school. Actually for my bachelor's degrees so yeah an interesting trajectory looking back. But i sense have grown into the realization that that striving and all of those pursuit you know while good and worthy of effort. They weren't to last. I mean yeah. I'm i'm really thankful for my education and all of those experience because i i do believe that helped shape who i am today. But now that i'm a parent i really want to show up as a support for my kids in their pursuits as well as their emotions in struggles. I have learned the power of emotional support and when emotional needs aren't met while child that child can grow and struggle to deal with their emotions as an adult. And that's that's that's part of my story. I've been working with a friend on just how to how to process. Maybe some of the things that i still struggle with than how to how to heal from that and you in on i had an still have amazing parents. They did the absolute best that they could with what they knew and you know they were raised by imperfect parents too. But i'm just finding it. Something really worth digging into. And i'm excited to discover the healing that can be found and the prevention of further emotional neglect going forward In you in my children and hopefully their children and spiritual and emotional support is definitely something. I wanna give my kids almost more than anything so give us. An example of emotional neglect adds a good question Like i said. I'm still kind of learning about it but something i've discovered in my story. Is that which we didn't talk about our emotions very much. Like i said we had a huge emphasis and priority on success But if like i remember not feeling like if i if i were sad or contemporary whatever even just feeling like i was struggling with something we wouldn't necessarily i mean sometimes we'd sit down and talk about it but it was less about what i was feeling and more about. How are we going to fix it. How are we going to move past this. Which i appreciate but i'm now realizing that i really have a hard time processing emotions when i start to feel sad. I fall deep into sadness. I can't like i can't get past it. Or if i am extremely excited about something i have a hard time containing i just. I don't know what to do with my emotions. And and when as a child grows if they're not if they're not taught how to handle. I mean kids have big emotions. They do and if they're not taught what to do with all of that in the those emotions are okay Yeah they can really kind of struggle with What to do and how to move not necessarily past him But just even learn how to acknowledge and Have healthy relationships with their emotions. So it's really interesting I'm still digging into it. My friend of johnson. She's like a spiritual coach. She's been teaching me about it. It's she's developing a core surrounded and she's she's noticing that most of the people she works with struggle with some form of childhood emotional neglected As she teaches or digs into their stories she notices that a lot of people. Don't consider that you know they. They've never heard of that where they've never considered that maybe some of the things they struggle with are tied to you know again. You know it could be the best parents in the world but if if a certain aspect of our emotional health isn't dealt with a power young it can. It can leave lasting well. Yeah lasting struggles. I guess yeah. Yeah for an adult. So it's really interesting. I can't wait to dig more into that in. I think it's learn how to process in a he'll going forward. It's gonna affect my music to which is exciting. Yeah because i think god he doesn't want us to struggle and feel broken in our in our flesh as much as we are so he wants to stay he'll and in a partner with us in our own healing too. So i look forward to seeing how. Yeah.

Apple reveals lower cost watch and updated iPad

"Maybe with the event's title, we should have known it would-be. Short. Tuesday's time flies event flew past at just over one hour, four pieces of hardware, basically, as well as new services and the services bundle we're focusing on hardware today. Surprising, absolutely, no one apple on Tuesday announced apple. Watch series sex running through the hardware. The S six system and package packs a new dual core processor based on the eighth thirteen bionic an iphone eleven it runs twenty percent faster than series five apps launch twenty percent faster. It's the first. Apple. Watch to include the you one ship, an ultra wideband antennas. The series six always on retina display is up to two point five times brighter outdoors than Apple Watch series five. Both the same all day eighteen hour battery life is before and can hit full charge in one point five hours. To features focused on during the devices introduction where the always on all tinder and the blood oxygen sensor. Not sure why always on is important for an intimidator unless you're worried about rock climbing in your sleep Apple says the always on ultimate provides real time elevation all day long by using a new more power efficient, barometric, ultimate her along with GPS and nearby Wi fi networks. This feature allows for the detection of small. Changes above ground level up and down to the measurement of one foot. And can be shown as a new watch face complication or workout metric. More life and death or the blood oxygen sensor and is associated APP. Apple says, series six measures the oxygen saturation of the users blood. So they can better understand their overall fitness and wellness. Oxygen saturation or S P o two represents the percentage of oxygen being carried by red blood cells from the lungs to the rest of the body and indicates how well this oxygenated blood is being delivered throughout the body. And how it works is really cool according to Apple's presentation. The sensors are basically checking the color of the blood as it passes by. That color indicates how oxygenated the blood is, which is free again. Amazing. Speaking of colors for the to apple watches I've owned I've chosen brushed aluminum. It's easy to match with just about anything. But if you have a signature color or don't care about matching or. Planned to have plenty of apple watches on hand to put on your wrist Apple Watch now comes in the couple of colorful colors. For. The first time says apple a new blue color. Silver Space Grey and gold aluminum case options along with the product Red Apple. Watch. With exclusive matching, bright red bands stainless steel models are now available and graphite and an updated classic Yellow Gold Color Apple. Watch edition is available in natural and space black titanium. Series six also says Sayonara to ceramic while apple didn't mention it during the event. A piece from macrumors says, that is no more. As is the way the arrival of new apple watches also meant the arrival of new bands. This time though whole new bands, not just new colors. Sport Band makes way for so loop. No clasp. No buckle. Solo Lupus a continuous end stretchable ban design that says comes into materials, soft silicone and braided yarn. Nine sizes for those. Apples supposed to have a size guide on its site. Checking Apple side it looks like Sport Band is just making room not seeding the field. Both sport? Band and Solo loop available to order as of now, there's also said to be a first of its kind leather link that wraps around the rest held in place with flexible molded magnets. Nikewatch gets everything we've talked about already plus a new Nike face and new colors for the Nike Sport Band and Nike Sport Loop. Same goes for Apple Watch air MAS- as far as improvements the hardware it's stainless steel cases come and silver or space black paired with single or Dubna, tour styles and an assortment of vibrant new colors. Now about the only thing predictions got wrong for Apple Watch as E was its name. leakers had thought that that was shorthand that it'd be called something simple like apple. Watch. Apple Watch S E is the budget chronometers name. Well mid range chronometer Apple Watch series three is the true budget model still out there selling for one hundred, ninety, nine bucks. An apples press release apple CEO Jeff Williams was quoted as saying Apple Watch S E combines elements of the series six design with the most essential features of Apple Watch, all at a more affordable price. No Blood Oxygen Sensor and no, always on display. It does sport the always on all temperature though because apple is taking this sleep climbing thing seriously. Looking at the hardware sports the same size displays as the Apple Watch series five. The S., five system and package and dual core processor deliver performance that's up to two times faster than the Apple Watch series three. The S. E. Packs the fives haptic feedback for the digital crown, and that speaks and here's what the latest speaker and microphone in the watch line. Apple says, watch as e features the same accelerometer gyroscope. altimeter as Apple Watch series six and with the latest motion centers and microphone. It offers robust health and safety capabilities including fall detection emergency, SOS, International Emergency, calling, and the noise. APP. Now, if you decide, the six time is the charm that you're finally ready to buy Apple Watch. The one you buy probably won't have a charger in the box Lisa Jackson vp of environment policy and social initiatives at apple appeared during Tuesday's event extolling the environmental virtues of apples timekeeper. Sometimes. Jackson said it's not what we make but what we don't make that counts. That he's from seeing that says that when she said that apple won't be including USB adapters with this week's watches. As putting them free in the box consumes resources and adds to apple's carbon footprint. Interestingly, people who can afford to buy a charger without giving it a thought. Won't have to do so. A separate piece on chargers Napa Watch from apple insiders as apple, watch, addition, and Apple Watch. Will include a five watt power adopter. Bloomberg's Mark Gherman Kinda cried foul over that on twitter. Quoting his tweet looks like the Apple Watch titanium and Armez model still have the power adapter. So the more expensive versions keep it. makes it seem like it's less of an environmental thing and more cost driven? I can get thinking that as an immediate reaction. Here's the thing though you gotta figure apple sells at a minimum hundreds of entry level apple watches for every single edition or. Sold. Probably thousands. So even though it looks like catering to the wealthy and yeah, there may be a bit of that. Even though it looks like catering to the wealthy dropping chargers, millions of people probably don't need. Might make an environmental difference. No I saw way more than one piece saying not including chargers with Apple Watch is just the beginning. While, it has been rumored that the next round of iphones will also arrived without a charger. Apple doesn't seem to a pulled the chargers from the ipads that are also coming out this week. We'll get to those in a bit. Want to get an Apple Watch for your kid but not give them an iphone worried that mom or dad may have a slip and fall or ended up seriously directionally challenged apple has a plan to watch the whole family. Selling points as far as apple's concerned with family setup, you can stay connected with family members without an iphone from making and receiving phone and facetime audio calls to sending and receiving messages and emails, and even connecting with other Apple Watch wearers over walkie talkie. Parents have the ability to approve all contacts. So kids can safely use the communication features of Apple Watch, according to the company. The activity rings experience has been optimized for kids according to Apple. Emergency SOS is being pushes the benefit though. Apple Watch already does that. And finally school time and downtime or front and Center for children while optimizations focused on health for older relatives take precedence at the other end of the spectrum. Now the news that will make family setup less useful for many. It requires cellular models, of Apple, watch series four or later or Apple Watch S E running watch os seven paired with iphone six s or later running IOS fourteen. Apple also said that kids and older family members of the household using family set up, we'll have their own phone number through a separate cellular plan. So, while you don't need to get GRANDPA and the kids their own phones, each cellular watch will come with a tone cellular plan and. Associated Bill. Family setup goes live today and so by the way does watch Os Savon. that. was kind of surprise more on that a bit later. With such an emphasis on the health, it's not overly surprising that the new Apple Watch Slash Watch Os Combo brings a few new health studies. macrumors runs those down starting with an asthma study being run in conjunction with the Insurance Company Anthem and the University of California, Irvine. Second the peace says Apple has tied up with university health network and the University of Toronto to learn more about how Apple Watch metrics including blood oxygen can be used to manage heart failure. Finally macrumors says apple is partnering with investors at the Seattle, flew study at faculty at the University of Washington School of Medicine to explore how changes in blood oxygen and heart rate can be early signals the onset of influenza and Kobe nineteen. The watches by the way are ready to order now. Those opened on. Tuesday, they'll ship on Friday in the US Puerto Rico twenty seven other countries and regions. Apple Watch series starts at three, hundred, ninety, nine dollars adding cellular adds another hundred. Bucks. Same goes for the Apple Watch Nike and Apple Watch Air Mas- that the prices run higher on the AMAS models. The new bands are also available to now they too will ship on.
