"Takes Tim spinoff from Bloomberg radio. This past week, Tesla reported second quarter earnings that beat Wall Street estimates the company getting production back on track while also tackling supply chain hurdles in COVID lockdowns at its factory in China. CEO Elon Musk had this to say on the earnings call. With regard to manufacturing and technology, about 5 or 6 years ago, we said we wanted to become the best manufacturer in the world. And that is somewhat counterintuitively to some people where it will actually be, I think our strongest competitive advantage. So let's get right to it with somebody who is a Tesla owner and investor well-known to our audience. We're talking about Ross Gerber. Ross Gerber is president and CEO at Gerber Kawasaki wealth and investment management. He joins us on the phone from Santa Monica, California. Ross, pick out one number in this earnings report and tell us why it's your favorite. Earnings per share, earnings per share. They beat by a big number in a very, very, very tough environment while they're ramping to factories and boy, they really killed it. Okay, that number $2 and 27 cents, Ross, for the second quarter, estimates were for $1 and 83 cents. So blowing it out of the park when it came to that bottom line. Yeah, it's like so hard with supply chain and all the issues with China and here they come out with a huge margin on their vehicles with the ramp. I mean, it's just they executed amazingly well. So how are they doing it when so many others seem to be struggling? Well, there's a couple things that Tesla has as a huge advantage over other automakers and first started when Elon went out and cut supply deals with like lithium companies and battery cell companies. He already had the vision of like, we want ten year contracts. We want guaranteed supply like he went all in and did like huge deals with these suppliers early on before our electric vehicles were even an issue. So he's kind of gets the priority because he makes the most cars and he committed the most early. And so he has the best position, plus they're completely vertically integrated. So they really have an advantage over other players in the EV space. You know, I think the most important thing is the valuation of Tesla is very high relative to the market. So they need to have good earnings to support their stock price and sex. What's the important valuation metric to watch? I mean, I'm just looking at basic PE is almost 88 right now, forward looking PE of about 63. What is the important metric to look at when we're trying to value something like a Tesla, which most would argue is still a mega growth company. Right. So we value all companies based off their PE to growth ratio. So that's really what's important is how fast is the company growing relative to its PE. And that's really where you can get stock price appreciation because you see this multiple will be forced in a way lower as E goes up if P doesn't go up. So P usually goes up when he goes up. So the nice way to look at it is because Tesla is beating earnings and growing so fast their growth rate is well over a 100% of earnings, but their PE is less than a hundred. So relative to other stocks in the stock market, it is actually very cheap. I really want to know what's happening in Berlin and Austin as far as the ramp, where they are with production. And what's going on with the 46 80 cell ramp because that seems to be sort of a little pickup that they're dealing with right now. So I'm really concerned about technology also for full self-driving and I've been using the software and it's getting better and better, but what's their time frame for a wide house, which I think how much better is it getting? Because there were some videos that made the rounds just a couple of weeks ago with some really concerning Galileo Russell posted a few weeks ago and he's a big Tesla bowl we've had him on our program before. And it showed it the vehicle turning right down the wrong way down a one way street. I'm sure you saw that video Ross. Yeah, how much better is it getting? Because that's pretty bad. You know, I think that I've seen like so many humans just today do stupid things like that. It's really like hard to be a perfect car while you're you do live in LA. So I'm in California. So I can say that. And then I chained my car in LA and it's super hard. It's super hard to survive in LA. So I think the expectation that a computer will have a flawless driving ability when it's not even it's still up 80 beta and then you get on the road and you watch humans kill each other on the road daily, we're setting two standards. You see what I'm saying? And so full self-driving is never going to be perfect. Well, that's how somebody's going to get run over. That's what I want to ask. Ross is full self-driving, crucial to the Tesla story or can I just be a great EV carmaker, and that's enough. Well, it's crucial to the story if you think about it, that making an ED isn't a challenge for Tesla and more. So Tesla has a company where would they evolve to if they were just B maker because eventually everybody is going to be making EVs and it will become a commodity. So the human role. There's the human robot that I'm kind of upset with. But that's all about AI though. That's not really about building a robot isn't hard. It's about making a smart robot that can do good stuff. And so the future is the software. And I think you should look at it very much like Apple. The Samsung phones are just as good as the apple phones. Or better. The Google plumes are just as good or better. But we all use iPhones because of the software and the way the software interacts with our life. Keeps us involved with Apple forever. And that's what Tesla is building with the software that the other companies don't have. Right. So when you're talking about an EV being a commodity in ten years, it will. Got it. But the software is where the value was. That was Tesla owner and investor ros Gerber, president and CEO at Gerber Kawasaki wealth and investment management. He joined us just after Tesla's latest earnings release on Wednesday afternoon. It was a big report important report and I feel like Tim so many different moving parts, right? We were really curious about, of course, what's going on with Twitter, but Tesla, and it's supply chain and being to produce all the cars that are in demand, getting an update on that was important. Yeah, and also update on the factory in Shanghai after a really tough quarter when it comes to lockdowns and production. And it sounds like what he had to say is that in terms of supply chains, things seem to be maybe easing. Tesla's quarterly update also included a sale of a significant chunk of its stake in Bitcoin. This year's crypto round is a race about $2 trillion in market value overall from the digital currency, Elon Musk had Tesla did it to increase liquidity after that Shanghai shutdown and that the sale should not be seen as, quote, some verdict on Bitcoin. Sounds like classic gilan. Can't sound like classic Elon. Crypto, by the way, was a big topic this week at the Bloomberg crypto summit, bringing together top names in the world of tokens, blockchains, NFTs, and more. Despite the poor performance so far in 2022, many of the attendees remain bullish on the crypto industry, including one well-known voice that's FTX cofounder and CEO Sam bankman fried. Certainly the athlete tries to find whizzy, a strong sign that encrypted and frankly in a lot of FinTech things were way too light on use cases. And that there was a lot of hand waving going on. Both on use cases and on financial modeling that was suspect. Up next here, how the crypto billionaires using the downturn to execute a deal making spree unlike any other in

"An inventor applies space shuttle technology to protect your treasured belongings from disasters. This is innovation now. The aftermath of a disaster is chaotic, whether it's fire, flood, or something else, a very common sentiment shared by survivors is that property damage is secondary to the loss of special keepsakes, mementos, irreplaceable photos, and documents. Memories. Chris shriver and entrepreneur experienced flood damage in his home and his sentiments were the same. But the event also inspired him to create a product that would reliably carry people's most precious items through a disaster unharmed. Personal home safes and fire safes are certainly not new, but shriver's research showed that a lot of them were too big, heavy and expensive to be practically affordable to everyone. Shriver was familiar with NASA's heat shield technologies, and he decided to explore how he could adapt that to make a superior protective enclosure. Working with NASA's Johnson Space Center and a private partner, the Houston technology center, shriver, and some ex NASA specialists created an 88 pound locker that did the work of a $2000 400 pound safe, using knowledge, gained from the shuttle program. "Welcome back to Knightley pops up. You've ever been sad about your love life. We have always been here to tell you a few stories that will give you a little bit of perspective. So it is now time for relationship train. We have to talk about this. So over the weekend, a Canadian politician sent Twitter into a store myself included. So John Reyes tweeted even after a 12 hour night shift at the hospital last night, my wife still has the energy to shovel the driveway. God bless her and all of our front liners. Time to make her some breakfast. What a hero. Commenters went the off myself included. That's going to make her breakfast. That's sweet. Yeah, he should make breakfast on his way out, make it to go. Everything that would have made I think obviously it's pretty one just complete like how apps in mind do you need to be to post this? But two, I imagine he cut out the part where he's holding like a malt whisky and has his feet up on an audio. That's what it feels like. This is my thing. Why was it not show before her before she got home? Like, why were you doing? Well, he's a politician, so he's busy doing nothing for the country. I feel like there's some women that get the bare minimum. I'm so much. They start to convince themselves that they like things rough or hard or I don't like flowers. I like to cook and after a 12 hour shift, I like to shovel snow. She's like, no, you don't. He is so sweet. When I got home, he left the shovel out for me. I didn't even have to go into the garage and get it. And watch, he's gonna make breakfast and give her like a bagel. It's gonna be cereal or cereal. And then the dishes are gonna be in the sink for her to do when she's done. For sure. We're talking about finding love. Let's talk about finding it in the workplace, something that none of us can relate to. What? Really? No. Can you? Yeah. Exactly. There's something here. There's something here. Spark. Anyway. I asked for advice about his work wife, because apparently she started flirting with him, slapped him on the butt, sending him sexy, selfies, but she does have a boyfriend. But she says that the boyfriend doesn't control her. So should the guy mix business with pleasure? Is this girl giving him the green light? It seems like mixed signals, no? You know, the only part I don't like about this, and I will say again, straight people are messy. Is the whole he doesn't control me thing? It's like, just flirt. Who cares? But if you're doing it in opposition of your boyfriend just because to prove a point, that's gross. You can't go to a bar and be like, I have a girlfriend I can't talk to you, you know? To like every woman that comes out to be like, I gotta turn it on and see, I can't help it. But I think there's a rule of the great impression of under. That's not a good impression. Math. I actually try to be honest. Can I be honest? I love that you gave yourself a deeper voice to impersonate me, though. That makes me feel good. 'cause it could have gone either way. Genuinely, I didn't know where it was ago. I'll talk about NFTs. We started the show. I was in a relationship. And you never flirted. You respected it. You were like, you didn't even try. But he was much bigger than me. But literally, if we broke up on a Friday that Monday hunter was like, what's up? You're like the Joey Tribbiani of. And the jokes are behind the show. Oh that sucks. That's horrible. Well, before we go, speaking of funny, the tributes have been pouring in for Bob Saget and two things stand out. Everyone keeps saying he was the nicest guy ever and that he was one of the funniest people on the planet. A lot of people knew him as America's dad on full House, but he also had a very raunchy side, no matter how you remember him, he always made us laugh. Well, this morning, I had a little too much coffee. So we're gonna do a nice. And rough. Hit it boys. They say the measure of a man is judged by the company he keeps. I'm. Marijuana is not a drug. I used to suck a Coke. I see them. Now that's an addiction, man. You ever suck some marijuana? Are you serious? Well, do I have a cheese when I'm talking about baby? No. No. I'm serious. I'm not weird. I mean this to all of you from the bottom of my heart. You all and suck my $100 million. Good night. And thank you. Raunchy, but also could toggle it to being America's dad. I interviewed him on E. News before he was funny and lovely to be around and he will definitely be missed. Yeah, I feel like the best thing about bob sagas careers, you would always meet someone who was surprised that he was as raunchy as he was. And you got that little moment of joy being like, let me show you a little compliment. Exactly. I know you're a comedian Zach, so like have you ever met him? I haven't met him. I didn't have the pleasure, but a lot of my feed has been other comedians, you know, paying their tribute to him. I will say I have sucked for marijuana. My God. That's all the time we have today. We'll see y'all tomorrow Zach will be back. Such a DVRs..

"I am your host. Charlie besser esser with me as always as they blue eyed bomber. Remember number event. Fill film impaired a philippe. So vlad join us tonight which we are discussing things that should be. That should not be that may yet be. Fill up a so. Among the many rumors that are out there right now is that the incomparable chasmin han. In addition to playing Joan rivers in an upcoming by opec which share silverman is very mad about. We are going to be seeing her once again. Playing agatha harkness in her own series Which is in developed in development now on disney plus. You figured she was going to show up somewhere. I mean she lived through one the vision and it's like the character extremely popular. So yeah i mean i knew she was going to get her own thing but i knew she was going to sell somewhere. Well you know what i think. That's interesting about. This is literally the fact that i don't think they plan to have shopping. I think she mean like you know. Sort of like Trevor slattery it's in the contract. They might bring her back. But i think quite frankly after they left her in in Westview tom. I still think doesn't exist. I mean puff else. I figured she'd like chopin doctor. Strange to or something. That's that's that is that is the question is will she or did they just create a character on the tv show that they may have just been very happy to leave the tv show. It's an interesting question. Because essentially he's going to say that they're saying they're developing it now main. She's most likely not in doctor strange because it would be kind of a spoiler for doctor strange. If she shows up and then we know she lives still yet. You know what i mean. Yeah but she could still be in dr change. They're not telling us she's in doctor. Strange won't know because clearly they're developing something new so if she winds up in doctor strange because we know they're developing something it tells us that she's probably not in doctor strange because if she wasn't doctor strange ended developing something. It ties up her story in doctor. Strange in a way that is gonna make it be removed from any impetus. I mean no. I mean i don't know how many layers marvel and disney have anymore. Because like i heard kevin smith saying recently he's like eats like i mean we all knew this but it's like disney has people who just like they put out like fake scripts and stops like people leaked they. They're like oh we know who came from. Yeah we'll know what actual my point is is that i don't think that they have it. That far planned ahead. I think that much like the comics themselves. It's like their billion brick-by-brick one show is the yo and so when they introduce a character in a movie or tv show with certain exceptions. It's for that show. Maybe at the point they started one division they met or not thinking that far ahead babba. Now they're probably way ahead and planning just because of kovic is now they know. And it's it's like it's like baby yoga and it's like why they had on 'em morris flushes already to go the day. After shane she is. They knew this is going to be a thing. So i think they're planning ahead on some things but i think a lot of things especially with the big arts like so for example. We recently had that end credit. Scene envenom yes. Which of course you know. It's it's that little joke that you know. He goes from the cd hotel in sony to the lush disney resort. Because we have seen hotels in disney. Sorry i just wonder what was going on there. Because i thought i read an article. They were saying behind the scenes like they didn't know up until the last minute that they were going to add what that scene in the move at the end of the movie. What would the idea is to me. I don't necessarily know that means as much as we think it means. Why think could they're gonna meet at some point. We assume well you know what little told me last night i guess will. I don't know where he was after. Tom hardy must've been i mean i don't know if he was trolling people but he was spotted somewhere. Where no way home. Well i mean it's possible he's there. I mean obviously the scene in there so but you know again. It might be this situation. It's sorta this kind of. It's kind of a gag. He's in freakin south america. What it happens. The rest of the story takes place in new york. He may not get back to new york anti while. He was in south america before he shifted. Who says he still in south america. The two employees soon the same true true. 'cause that's the idea that that in his world. It's a cd hotel in so america in the mci version. It's a disney resort. And hey shortly after. He made it from san francisco to south american cd version. Now it's a cleaner version. I mean it'd probably be easier to get there to new york. Yeah if he goes through the whole. I think the after credit soon is going to be on him on amtrak to new york and just like they're just sitting there and it's like a really nice beautiful excellent train and then it's like you look flashy flash again. He's like our own universe so quickly that guy again. I look we discussed this already but like instead of like. Yeah like you say. Maybe peter doesn't go through the multi verse. What at that. What if this spell. What if what if that's what. We thought the venom of the spell was pointing other people from the multi burst into the mc you like auto and benham. There's a lot of possibilities that if nothing else. That's the point is that there's a lot of possibilities are so a lot of things that might be happening. And we don't know yet and i think that's always i think what i think is always the problem is we always want to anticipate and then get mad when we're wrong. I mean if they do that. I mean maybe the way home is the test run for the spiderman. Characters of that goes good doctor. Strange to we're going to be the x. Men and fantastic four it. Maybe maybe or is susan not already there. That's always been my thing. It's like we assume because that's the if nothing else they are going to be. Showing us is that they were super human beings that just kept to themselves you know and which we knew that about in agents of shield. 'cause course windshield was around the either rounded up these people. They told them. Just keep it to yourself you know. No one needs to know your mutant. Don't make us come down here with natasha. Roman often and clint barton. Does you in the. I hope buster aero you know 'cause we got those..

"That was my guess. Barbara brings up a good point. He says the mid credit venom seen would not be after doctor. Strange messes up spell because j jonah. Jameson is still aware of who spiderman is he has. I'm confused so w- that's a good point because we the spell doesn't work and obvious maybe oxen ruins. Maybe the spell didn't work and nobody forgets that. He is actually spider by screwed up the spell. It's a it's a good point though. Maybe we'll see there's two other moments it could be that he brought this up to you and this is what i was thinking. The only other two other mom. It's is at the end of low key. When sylvie kills he remains in the universe start splitting and cracks or is this something. Wanda is part of at the end of her series. When she's fucking around. I think when the timeline cracks that would be when everything would happen. Everything will to be in a spiderman movies. Oh that's a good point. It has to be because they don't want any the other shit yeah Maybe the spell didn't work okay. Bob raise it's he doesn't want everyone running out and watching loki. That's that's gonna get money on a fucking good point. It's gotta be something in that movie. It's on guys it's got to be with with with doctors but it's fucking around and maybe it doesn't always so sharp on everything. I just exploring the option okay. Morlock isn't is in like the perfect specimen of he's just kind of like this omnipresent fucking super powerful being perfect and i remember him from the infinity gauntlet in all that type of shit. He's always in silver surfer comics. I never did like a marble Universe for his origin he just kinda comes in his glowing gold shit with his eyes glowing ship being omnipresent cosmic has super lots of powers right. Yeah so. I don't know about much about him. But he's usually a bad ass everywhere he shows up. He's like pretty much like a very powerful force. So i don't know this guy the guy that you want to beat up and like if you if you're making a movie about a kid getting beat up. This is the kid that you would get to get the gets beat up so unless he's like. I don't know long tease for this character. Cross-Cultural Casting: Noteworthy for Hollywood, but Not Exactly New

"About unconventional casting choices in film and TV. My dear sister No holds a loose tongue in her head. So does this sort of diverse casting violate some unspoken rule about realism critic Bob Mondello takes a long view, he says. Cross cultural Casting has always raised eyebrows, even though it's as old as casting itself in the fifth century BC When the Greek playwright escalates, needed a defense attorney for his leading man in the tragedy, the Oresteia he picked the God Apollo choice You do not make if you're worried about verisimilitude in casting. Live theater has always assumed the audience can make imaginative leaps. Whether it's depicting warrior kings who rant my kingdom for a horse or founding fathers who rap. I am not throwing away my shot. Hamilton, of course, is a special case. Just like my country. I'm young, scrappy and hungry, and I'm Shot. It's a Broadway musical, famous not just for putting hip hop in the mouths of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington but for matching black and brown faces to those historic white characters. Every time I write a piece of theater, I'm trying to get us on the board Latino composer lyricist Lin Manuel Miranda, speaking with fresh air's Terry Gross, black and Brown artist. This is a story of America, then told by America Now it's our country to with inclusion as Hamilton's calling card, diverse audiences made it a worldwide phenomenon, an outcome that seems natural. What A Victoria's Secret Spinoff Could Mean For L Brands

"Brands a spinning off. Victoria's secret as a separate company. You might remember that last year almonds was set to sell. Victoria's secret to sycamore partners. For like five hundred something million dollars that fell through once the pandemic had we understand. It was a bad time to make long-term decisions but albertsons still wanted to sell off. Victoria's secret which is not quite as lucrative as the only other brand it's still has in its portfolio bath and body works if you have missed the first seven years of the show. Get you out. Victoria secret wrote on the hyper sexualization train for years until the twenty teams came along and decided like we weren't exactly keen on women being seen only in push. Ross so they have a dealing with some some slumps in revenue over the recent years. Sense the sick more deal fell through. Albertans had a couple of offers to buy. Victoria's secret but they rejected them all because the company thinks victoria secret is worth more than those offers. It's probably worth between four and six billion dollars but al brands decided that offers of like three billion ish just weren't enough so it decided to spin off victoria secret into its own company. It's going to happen later this summer. My question is is this. A good coffee all brands. Is this a good call for. Victoria's secret karn discuss. Yes and yes. I've been waiting for this to happen. Listen a soap. Company was keeping that thing afloat for a long time. Bath and body works was making bank as they should. I've done a lot of research on that company. And i like them but what this means is if they get spun off. They have to do their individual earnings report on their own which means they have to be accountable for all their actions. It cannot rely on another company to keep them going. I think we're gonna see some more accountability with some vicky hush hush

Lord of the Rings Series Will Cost Amazon $465m

"Over at amazon is worth from. It's a story from late last week. The retail giant's highly anticipated. Lord of the rings will cost an eye popping four hundred and sixty five million dollars for its first season. According to the new zealand government's official information act filing. Yeah i'm gonna say that again one more time just to let it sink. Four hundred sixty five million dollars for one season of television and we don't even know how many episodes it's going to be. My understanding is that that figure includes the acquisition of the rights. So i don't know that anyone really knows what that figure entails because we reported that the rights alone were north of two hundred and fifty million dollars just for global rights alone to the property. But that's still an awful lot for one season of television usually those rights. You amortize the cost. Over the life of the series so that the first season drops down cetera. The shows already been renewed for season two. I think it's already you know. The plan is for five seasons in spinoff. so are they trying to amortize. That cost over. Are they gonna shoot seasons one and two back to back and this is quote unquote one-season a television that stretches over into two seasons of of television and and and the budget is that for two full seasons. I don't know either way. That is an eye popping number and if it doesn't include global rights even if you take out that to fifty a crazy amount of money it's still like more than more than double the cost of what a season of game of thrones would cost it's astounding. It is a tremendous amount of money and a tremendous amount of money for a show which has no costly above the line talent. It's not like the eight hundred and fifty people who are starring in that show are making a million dollars per episode. They are being paid. One would presume a reasonable amount. Let's just say eight a non impressive amount because they're not stars. You're not spending this money on cast. You're spending this money on on rights and production sets and costumes and and the global rights like we talked about. You know like yeah this. This number doesn't make any sense to me. It's a lot of money this a lot

"A cool idea right so now this is born you through some shade on sonic chronicles zero. Good things about this game. But like i was ethan air when people say oh. This is a bad game. This is a good game or win gene or whoever set gives a one out of ten or ten ten. It doesn't always apply to me in fact the majority of times. That doesn't always apply to me because i play games that are considered bad and i actually enjoyed them and vice versa. So this game. Objectively to most is probably bad. But there's a chance. I might actually like this game and i'm curious. Sonic in a rpg. Turn based setting. Let's go. let's do it from what i remember. I think the game is like i think it gets too. It's not like as shadowy as edgy shadow. The hedgehog gets but it gets kind close and his edginess to shadow the hedgehog. It looks like a darker game for sure. Yeah yeah. I'm curious to play and in along that lines i play calcium this year. I want to move on to the puck him on. Xt gail of darkness. another game. Another dr game exactly. And i have mixed feelings about this one win because it's expensive to if it's anything like the i i'm probably not going to be able to beat it at probably gonna get to a certain point and be like the grain is not worth it but i played the majority of it. I that's my hope side. This point is like let me play the majority of it. If i had the chance. Close chance to beat it. I will but if not you know. I just want to see what it's ballot. And i enjoy pokemon for what it was and i think of darkness by might be even better so to put him on. Mystery dungeon another one. We've talked about. And i wanna play. Put you on mystery dungeon. Dax specifically one. It's on the switch. Love the art style and kind of the the re master of what they did with the original. And i missed out on that series from oakmont mystery dutch and i heard it was a big grind. Ian yeah takes long. But i'm willing to give it a try. It's definitely one. I want to have on the shelf in my collection for sure. And i'm able to appreciate these spinoff games of the mainline series for pok mon whereas before i probably had no interest so i am curious to play this one same with new pokemon snap. I did not play d. pokemon snap original except at a friend's house for like thirty minutes and that was about it. Now that i think about it but it's it's one that i'm hearing a lot of hype about right now in looks phenomenal. I am actually really excited to try this stop out. I don't think i'm going to buy them. Not because it's bad or anything it just was never just never really grabbed me. I could surprised myself in wanted at some point. I ended i don. I don't see anything that makes me. Wanna grab it really you know and we just talked about like gameplay is on the top of our list yours is number one and number two. We did our episode of of video game elements and ranking. The game. play is highly important. If you don't like the game play the game. Well right probably not going to the game. Yeah.

"Dexter and i did not play a whole lot of dexter. But i'm a fan of jack index or series. And so i was like why not. This is a to ninety nine. Psp game let's try it out. It did not hold. It did not keep me. It was a little bland non. That's because it's the psp or if it's because it's just the game or a mix of both. I don't know but it didn't hold me. Played very very briefly and talked about it. Briefly on last week's episode yes My take on that game was i. Don't wanna play his dexter. I want to play his jack right. Exactly yeah that was. That was pretty much my my take away from it. Sure and i was opened the plane. As baxter since again i. I make the argument. You play his dexter anyways because he's your weapon so you're basically the plane as a weapon and he. He's the one who talks. But i was. I was excited for this. Just grabbed me was kind of kind of boring. But you know there's those who probably love it and i think it should be tried at least and i love that. They had the idea to do so. So i will say that moving onto some games that i've played that are spin offs. A the first ones played a few of poke them on mystery dungeons. We talked about it briefly earlier with ranger. Yes i mean. They're solid but they always they always lose me like i can never stick with them through the end. They're just real. They feel really really long time consuming even as a kid i was like this is taking heil interesting. Okay split it was a it was good solid as a whole beaming. You might disagree on this one a little bit The persona games right technically this persona games are a spin off of mainline shimagami right so yes in technicality. Terms i mean. It's you can't really argue that it's not a spin off because i mean it is the reason why we disagree. Because i don't i don't view it as that. I didn't have the understanding of that. And for those who are new to shinoda may to atlas to persona chances are they hopped on i persona five mostly or may maybe you hopped on a persona four and that you that. That's that your game that you played that that's the series that you know that its own you know. Well i mean for the longest time they did have. The name should montgomerie on them. I think they dropped it like with persona four golden. Nothing was the first game. That didn't have it. Ryanair is like as the branding. But i mean there's a whole it's still should make ten say you're using the same demons just called shadows and this one. A lot of the concepts can still transfer over. I consider its own series. But i do consider a spinoff series But like diving even further into it. I've also played a spin off of the spin off. Series persona q two new labyrinth. Feel like i've talked about this game in the past..

"Why do we. We'll get to that get to that. Captain toad treasure tracker. Which i know. This is one. I've talked about and i know you haven't played ethan. But captain toad treasure tracker. I will talk about often. I never got the chance to play on. The we ucs owned a we. You but treasure. Tracker is a game that i really like. If if you're a fan of co op games get this game. If you have not played this game find someone to play with because it is a very fun game to play in for the switch. One they actually added mario odyssey captain to- treasurer tracker stages which is pretty cool based off of mario landscapes in in stages. They're fantastic game and they should start doing more of these. I feel like if they create enough and kind of expand this could be this could be a spinoff titled that does well. So i haven't played it. But i know the people who have played just love it. So yeah it's you know. Sign up top to coop games for sure because there's not that many out there unfortunately super princess peach is another one. I played back in twenty twenty and played this on my studio six zero because it is a ds game and just the fact that super princess peach president speech got her own video game. That's amazing first of all And i was kind of nervous the play this one because it is a platformer in i am not good at platform especially to platforms. I'm just not good at all. I was made progress and beat the game but it was once i beat. I'm like okay. I appreciate this game going through it i was. I was pretty nervous but my wife actually played this game in owned it. And this is how i played it and she said she did as a kid so she was like stop. Being a wimp. Beat the game. I did never played a princess. Peach i've seen like aspects of it. But i just never got around to playing it. What's cool now. There was controversy with this game. Really those who don't know there was controversy with this game because on one side you know there was a plot because princess peach got her own game who would ever thought right like whatever they now. That's not the kind of controversy is d game's mechanics You know every platform has them to you know to progress through the stages and levels and stuff but the thing is that. There's emotions that princess peach i remember. I remember that you know whether it's it's you know her crying. Tears of water to create some kind of platform to jump or whatever. Or there's there's rage princess peaches rage to to blow out or something to do stuff things of that nature. There's emotions and it's like okay. You've got this female protagonists. I could see mainly. I finally getting her own game. And then you just want to throw in this like the woman's emotions as gains mechanics and it's not necessary because there were mario games that had peach in them. Before just normal mario games. You can play as you know Was it was a world. May i think samara world was the one that did it. But or or which one but yeah. You didn't have to do that. So i could definitely see how that was a controversy. I will say this. They put down the rock the stones i will say it exists. They implemented it. But i will say they implemented it. Well at least at least they did that. At least it wasn't terrible. It was fun. It was unique. I'll leave that up for debate. If it was a good idea. Or not so i actually. Yeah it's funny. That i remember that but fun fun fun last one for me..

"spinoff" Discussed on Play Your Way

"Is probably gonna trigger some people. I think it's the best game in the franchise. Okay yeah i mean that is. This is going to feel like that's understandable. It's gonna trigger the malay fans a lot. Yes that's the only other ones i can think of but and i also think brawl isn't as bad as people say it is but that's an argument for another day. Which console is that on the we the way so i feel like there's like two types of people do you've got those who who ultimately i smash of game and those who just like ultimate more for various reasons and then you've got those who are like you know the original and the malay in the competitive and stuff but but i've heard you know maybe both of those who are in both of those camps also trickled down and say well the original on and sixty four was pretty pretty good too but i don't know it was. Yeah i i mean. I've played all of them. I believe every single one of them. And i mean they're all good. I mean they don't like male was accidentally good especially when you when you dig into it and you kind of figure out like just kind of how messed up. Things are in that game like some of the aspects of it. But but i mean it's really good. Probably the second best in the franchise for you know all those things. But as a whole i think super smash this is just incredible. It is yeah. You're you don't like three d. s. c. I'm sorry. I guess. I have not played no. I did have that one. Actually so i have. I did buy that one I like that they did it. Y- i'm glad they did it. Say they ventured out and they and they gave it a try it works it works on there but it it works better on console. Sure that makes makes sense Next one and i really love the spinoff series of the mario universe but luigi mansion. Fantastic idea fantastic idea so for louise mansion for those who don't know You play as luigi and you're in this haunted house for this haunted mansion and you collect ghosts in your basically a ghostbuster version of luigi and it's it's nintendo is and it's it's nintendo's horror game and it's it's fine house on eastern before that. I really like playing this game on halloween. How this is about as far halloween. I go because i am a weenie But i have not played the one on the three d. s and i have not played the one on the switch that will be changing soon. I have only played the first one and it was really good you know. I can't test the holidays. Compared to the gains that the franchise. But i thought it was a great game not not really that scary but it's also kind of like nine hundred super scary. You know leading needs more gains. In general i.

"I i really do love that mechanic but yeah yeah i think it's i think it's okay. I'm an abbas playing right now because you know they didn't put the boards online which they should they could easily make that update anytime. It's not that hard but whatever and of course you got. Mario kart we were just talking a lot about this with with news of it being the that series being the best selling racing game. But yeah mario car. Who hasn't played marker and i know there's people out there but i started playing mario kart on the game. Boy advance and rue. The only other mario kart game i played was probably on the switch. Mario kart deluxe. And you know. I go to it from time to time. I like these i just wanna i just wanna play. Mario kart for a few games and i will. It doesn't happen often but it's a great idea. i have played. Mario kart sixty four a lot of fun. I played the i think i played the gameboy. One america dance. Oh back to. Mario party also played the game boy. Ds but they're not not much to say about those ones. Yeah yeah And i think. I had the d. s. mario kart and i bought mario kart eight on the. We never bought deluxe stint. Feel the need to write. I like myocarditis. I prefer mario kart sixty four. But i like myocardial. I think it's good. It's really interesting. Have you played double dash. No i never have. I've heard good things about it. But i never i heard good things about it too that the you know the the implementing of the You know the double team but okay So i was going to say something about mario kart. And it's it's it's a revolutionizing racing game because it's created other car games You know and other people have like. Yeah let's try this you. Have you know one recently with crash team racing You have stirs sonic. Yeah it's a cart style. Notice it is. I mean you have nikola nickelodeon cart racing the best one. There's a hello kitty one. There's there's so many out there. I didn't realize that so now with that being said have you played any other card games. Have not by okay. But i know this that fans of the series will swear up and down there better than mario kart and i'm always pretty skeptical about it like like crash team like crash team racing. That would've called sonic and sega. All stars racing people are fans of those games. They'll swear up. And down there..

Figuring It Out With Bethenny Frankel

"We've got a great show for you today. With self made serial entrepreneur and bravo's star bethany. Frankel you probably know her as one of the original cast members of the real housewives of new york city as a guest shark on shark tank or as a runner up on martha. Stewart's the prentice spinoff show as ceo and founder of the skinny girl brand and be strong her disaster relief initiative it's cleared bethany is a natural born dealmaker and proven business woman. She's here to teach us all about the highs and lows of entrepreneurship how to tune out the naysayers and how to step into our own voice. Welcome to the show bethany. Were so glad you're here. Thank you so much. i'm excited. Yeah well. I want to start with this. I thought we could go back to the early days. I always like to know what people were like as little girls. So what was little bethany like. Can you tell me about her. I was similar to the way i am now. I always be to my own drum. I've always been. I was an only child. And i moved around a lot. I went to so many different schools. Thirteen different schools so i was always used to being new and i was grown up very very early. So as a little girl. I was adventurous and independent and alone a lot very analytical. Because i was alone a lot so i was sort of coming up with my own imagination and creativity and i saw a lot of crazy things i worked at the race. Track is very little kid. I would get up at five o'clock in the morning and go to the racetrack to be what they call a hot walker when they excise the horses and then you have to wash them and cool them doubt not though like driving race. Track the horse race. Track the horse. Okay cool. I was very independent as well. My parents were both working out of the house and a feel like that's what led me to be sort of entrepreneurial like i had to learn how to solve problems for myself at such a young age so i feel like maybe that's something we have in common.

Purdue Pharma proposes $10 billion plan to come out of bankruptcy

"Pharma, The company that makes OxyContin filed its bankruptcy plan last night, And here is the plan, the company itself will be dissolved. A new organization will be created that will direct profits to help people. Hurt by the opioid epidemic. Now, two dozen states immediately rejected this plan to help answer why NPR's addiction correspondent Brian Mann is with us. Hi, Brian. Hey. Good morning, Noel. How did Purdue Pharma described this plan working overtime. Yes. So what the company's president Steve Miller says, is that a new company is going to be created from the ashes of produce farmer that's going to essentially exist to benefit the public. The sack lawyers will have no roller ownership. And over time, this new firm will generate hundreds of millions of dollars, much of it from selling OxyContin, which they say they can do ethically and safely. Will also produce medicines that will go to help people suffering from opioid addiction, and they saved a total value of all that overtime will be roughly $10 billion. Members of the Sackler family also issued a statement late last night, saying, this plan offers and I'm quoting here. An important step toward providing help to those who suffer from addiction. It was clearly thought through. Why did so many states come out and rejected? Offhand? Yeah, there were months of negotiations leading up to this and a big complaint from state attorneys general, most of them Democrats, Noel is that produce farmer and its owners. Seculars. They're gonna only offer of about $500 million, right. At first. The rest of the cash payments, including $4.2 billion promised by the Sackler is themselves. That would be spread out slowly in installments that would be paid over most of the next decade. And that slow pace really angers critics like Maura Healey, she's attorney general in Massachusetts. What the sacristy are offering essentially is a way for the payments to be structured. That makes it convenient for them. They get to keep their billions of bank accounts and make money and use the interest to pay. You know, the state's out over time. Well there OxyContin fortune keeps growing. And there's one other rub here for critics, and that's the fact that a lot of that $10 billion in value that produce farmer talks about it doesn't actually come in the form of cash, which communities really need to pay for addiction programs. And said the plan envisions providing low cost addiction treatment drugs like people, Morphine and the lock zone, which this new spinoff company they hope to create, would make and sell at a discount.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a new 16-bit beat-'em-up

"Needs to Turtles shredders revenge. Who thought this one coming nobody. I drink turtle's brawler stuff. Still right and that's like the one type. Eternal game that gets made besides japanese. Yeah i action games not good once. Yeah i mean yeah. We hope it's good. It has good pedigree behind it. Trivia games The guy did the one. I enjoyed last year. Very much panzer paladin. What like. I was not that interested in this because only because so many of these throwbacks end up being disappointing. Right like you're so jazz and exciting. It comes out and it's fine. You know and then and then and then it's over but this one every single portion of the announcement. I'm mike okay. Okay developer like good like they're hitting all the right notes. I could not be more jazzed. I think this is going to be the one that like actually delivers on the promise of like what. Sort of a modern throwback can be. Well yeah except that it's it's being Published by dot edu. Who last year brought a street bridge. Four which is also another great modern classic broader exactly johm. It looks so cool. it's reg. I'm not a journalist guy. So i'll i'll connect to this on the brawler level. It streets ridge four had anything that was like kind of like a meta gain. That kind of like did something. Brawlers didn't like an rpg system like mercy ransom or like castle crashers or anything like that. It had an interesting scoring mechanism. Where the longer you went. Without taking damage higher your score would go which is kinda cool and a stressful to me. I liked it. It also had a really really great animation. Of course herbals game is going for classic. Look like it is a sequel to the original turtles. Arcadian nearly nineties Our producer is writing me. That turtles in time is so much fun now. I played all the early turtles brawlers. they're fine. I played them like crazy. When i was a kid. But you guys know how i feel about brawlers need something extra or just too boring other. Otherwise it's good for you know ten dollars worth of quarters in the arcade galway's grant them that but i don't want that in my home and even with four people i'm gonna play through once maybe and it was to see all the cool pixel art and stuff so that'd be nice in this and i'm sure it'll be interesting but back in the day brawlers were cutting edge graphics. There's nothing that looked as good as them. And that was the reason for me to play them like run racers were first coming out not gonna play daytona usa ever again but i was pretty excited about daytona usa. When it was at a bank of machines in the arcade. I'll close up ten dollars in quarters into this machine. But i won't buy it for ten dollars. I wouldn't do that. It's the arcade experience in your with your friends and you're like how long can this quarter get mean this round. How much have improved since my last order experience. Exactly yeah maybe something will modify a cabinet and we can all play together to extreme or something in the future. that'd be cool way to experience. What if the game free but every time you wanted to play again at cost you asked about that. And nobody's really done. The twenty five cent per game system microsoft tried doing that with xbox live arcade border per play. It was something like that. We had to pay each play of these classic arcade games. Oh yeah one of the castle. Vania games like that. One of the xp la's spinoffs. Maybe joe was the castle vania. Excellent spin off that was like that zoom in and zoom out one which is was the cooperative one. That was really cool. I don't remember the pace anyway. You are right sam. I beat dragon and the arcade back in the day. But only because my grandpa just kept giving me quarters eventually my sister and i just four star way to our way to the end of the game where you bany or jimmy. I'm a lifelong me. There are only jimmy on the eighty. S yeah i think it's corrected or it was originally correct in their arcade The i have like a little kid. I had don't really fun. Time at the arcade playing with a friend through the simpsons. Game those my best brawler Experience we had happened to come in to a ten dollars in quarters or something. We got last boston. Did not beat the las boss. Still never finished the simpsons but it was so exhilarating and so illuminating to go through the first couple levels which costs you a buck fifty. Probably in the next couple levels which cost you probably four dollars and then the last boss which cost you four dollars by itself adds up in the set of funny way. It's it's you know it's those. Were designed to your quarters. At a point where people stopping go competitive with quarters and getting high scoring with pacman staff and of course the next era of arcades we all know with street fighter two competitive stuff that wet bridge of high tech brawlers like you know as corner starting with call it by the way. Yeah i actually have. I have a lot of affinity for brawlers. Who doesn't everybody loves him. But like you're you're completely right that. Although i do have an affinity for them like they're kind of garbage in like you know the bosses have invincibility frames and Just lockable moves. And just you know total screen wipes and like clearly like a super high level of skill. That stuff isn't a problem but for like everyday people like they just become impossible to the point. Where like you said. They're designed to you. Know to continue. Yeah so but that's why seeing them come. Home is so exciting. Because then they don't have that limitation that requirement on the commercial side on the on the capitalist side like they can just design a really really cool fudd brawling fighting combat system without the need for a bunch of bullshit bosses that That i can afford another quarter. That's casper crashers. I think they did a good job with it. Yup tina this announcement anything for you In the sense that i played like the early nineties. Konami think version the arcade version back in the day. So i had the same fondness that anybody else would just Having an opportunity to to play multiplayer game when that's a reality in the future at some point when you can sit down on a couch next to a friend and actually play the stuff. I'm also not a huge brawler fan. There's a level of consistency in sameness to them. After a while when you play them back to back. But i loved. River city ransom. Um so. there's definitely some affection in my heart for the genre overall.

Persona 5 Strikers Review

"Let's talk about persona strikers review roundup gathering this at nine. Am it sat at an eighty. Four on metacritic. Twenty eight gave it a four point. Five out of five were keenum. Call says persona five. Strikers is proof. That change isn't always a bad thing. While it may not hold onto everything that made its forebear a phenomenon the new elements it brings to the table more than make up for it and show that the series future lies in more than just straightforward turn based jr pg's. It's an experience fans will find more than enough to love about And that will give them plenty of hope for the series. Bright future over at games beat. Mike manati gave it a four out of five and rights now. Strikers isn't exactly on the same scope as a full blown persona game. the social aspects aren't as robust. You weren't forty relationships with your characters. Are eating beef bowls increase your personality traits and not as long persona five may take you about one hundred hours to beat. Strikers only took me a bit over thirty hours to complete. I'm not gonna complain about that. Though that felt like a good length for an action role playing game and it makes sense that the experience would be a bit shorter without the counter events. That felt normal persona game prince parentheses. You aren't studying for tests or picking up after school jobs but you're still collecting personas. Infusing them to make new ones. You're still rocking out to an amazing soundtrack which includes a nice collection of new songs and remixed tunes persona five. And if you liked percent of five you're going to have a great time. I'm not sure. I'm not sure if you would call five strikers a spin off or a sequel honestly it feels more like the ladder but if you want to call it a spinoff. It's the best one that the persona series has offered yet and then it. It was an eight point zero from tom marks. Who writes persona five. Strikers main story is every bit a direct sequel to the persona five that it is every bit the direct sequel to promote a five. That seems making this summer road trip with the phantom thieves essential for fans of the original and probably pretty confusing for anybody who hasn't played it. It's lack of personas signature. Social calendar systems are the only places its spin off. Status becomes a bit of a letdown but even replacing turn based combat with real time. Action doesn't stop it from recapturing. The feel of its predecessor overall. Its structure is far more close to closer to the action. Its structure is far closer to action. jr pg's like kingdom hearts then the mousse omega force. Its best known for but the varied play styles of each character and the story that pulls them along made the fairly simple active hacking through shadows enjoyable to the very last surprise.

Cerence Announces Record First Quarter 2021 Results

"Gonna start today with severance the automotive. Ai developer came out with record results in the first quarter and yet shares of severance down. eight percent. today is this evaluation thing. Is this people in the market. Saying look it's up. Four hundred percent of the past year where we're taking some profits. I think that's a reasonable. That's a reasonable assumption. There are some things in the call that could lead you to believe maybe the near term there might be some challenges. But yeah i mean there's no doubt it is a it's a business it's not profitable yet and and so that is one of those things. That's the biggest risk to to a stock like this today is is typically going to be valuation given how far it's run in such a short time if you just been a tremendous perform for us in our services and it's really turning into a fun little company to follow the valley. It shows the value. I think that spinoffs can offer. Because if you remember. Sarah is it used to be a part of nuance communications and spun off from nuance to to become. Its own own little company but but really servants for folks who don't know. What does i mean. This is a company that focuses on conversational envision. Art official intelligence based products for the automobile. And so it's essentially getting in your car in being able to operate things primarily with your voice but they also have audio or visual components. They're they're working with a partnerships to develop a augmented reality windshields so all sorts of things they're developing as the car becomes next frontier and i. It's the neat thing about this business. I is when you when you actually go through. What they do in the primary focus today is on the automobile but they also they also like to tout the market expansion potential and adjacent markets including get this. Chris cruise ships two wheel vehicles and elevators so so modes of transportation of all sorts. I mean they're really looking to get into all sorts of different modes of transportation. It really the car is the primary frontier for this this business but to your point it was a great quarter. Revenue grew by twenty three percent. They had called incidentally for ten to sixteen percent previously so they said they really surpassed guidance there so ninety five million dollars for the quarter versus versus a year ago setting a new quarterly record. They've continued growth in billings per car and interestingly too they won back a major european. Oem deal for the quarter so so generating some new infotainment designs of for a major european and that production will start in two thousand twenty three. So there's a lot of cool stuff on the horizon. I mentioned there. Were some signs that maybe some near-term challenges in primarily that was noted in a supply chain constraints. Semiconductors in i i think management is being pretty upfront with that. We've seen that mentioned before and other calls. The company are referred to on motley. Fool money this past week synthetics they noted the same thing that there are just some supply chain constraints in the semicon semiconductor industry. Right now that are that are putting some businesses in a little bit of a pinch. That's a near term thing. That's not a business specific specific things so so for me. I look at what this business is doing the regardless of the selling off today. I think they really still are. They're delivering what they say they're going to deliver in. And i'm really encouraged.
