"Kind of major conspiracy that stuff just absolutely blows me away. And i don't really want to get into that ear because i don't feel that that's this is the the venue for that discussion but i'm happy. You guys are telling these stories so that people can see that yes. This is having a real effect on real people. And i think what's what's extremely sad. Jeff is the fact that these are major shows. Know i we were talking about some of the other characters who are in the documentary. We have a lot of blocked from the cirque shows. We have quite a few from the cirque day. And you know that's damien eight probably won't ever come back from my understanding circus filed bankruptcy and their through. Don't know that there will ever come back so that's something that you would never think that would ever happen. We had a show that came back temporarily but then they end up shutting down to show. That came back temporarily was up since love. Absence is great. Show one of the best shows i've ever seen. Spiegel world are such amazing producers and have done such a great job with with shows like absent than and atomic saloon and opium. And i know that spiegel world boston their asses to try to Keep absence up and running but with restrictions coming in and then the further restrictions coming in. I'm assuming it just. It's not financially viable for them. Because i think a lotta people don't understand the mechanics of how how these shows are run. And how the ticket. Sales are handled. And the fact that these shows the producers have to cover a lot of the costs themselves when you just you start chopping up the audience into such small groups. It's just it's not financially viable for for them to continue to run. I agree it's i. Don't think people understand the dynamics of what it really takes to pull off a show in a put a show together and to put it on so it's people can actually see it. We get we we get to sit and celebrate you know and so great show but everything that it takes to get that show up and running even the night of people that are in the ticket sales ticket sales go you know you have to sell a certain amount of tickets to get your break even point so if i don't sell that amount tonight and i'm hoping i do it the next night so that you know. Maybe fridays fridays. The best night or saturday the best night so then. Hopefully we'll double ticket sales triple that night just to make up for what. We didn't do tuesday or wednesday. Oh it's a whole lot going on behind the scenes and now you're saying we only can have what a twenty five percent capacity. You cannot run a show. You know the price points. Don't match what the salaries and dietrich try to keep everybody working because not only the people that you see on stage you have stagehands have people that are not on stage that you still have to factor into the equation. So there's there's a lot going on you know even behind the scenes and it's just tough. So i really feel i really really feel for these entertainers that can entertain performance at can't perform we both stephen and i. We both feel for them. That's why we really wanted to do something to highlight. You know what. They're what vegas is going through and particularly entertainers and performers. Reggie you've You've been in vegas for a long time. Now you've been there since two thousand and one you've seen things climbing through the early two thousands. You've seen the the downturns in the boston. Two thousand seven two thousand eight. You've seen the good you've seen the bad in your own. Sort of non expert opinion What do you think. The chances are a vegas Making a comeback. I know it's a resilient city. I know it'll get there eventually. But but what are your thoughts on on vegas making a comeback and you have any any thoughts or guesses on a on a timeline for when things will finally be be back. Well here's the numbers actually from the two thousand seven two thousand eight when we had the great recession There were one hundred and forty seven thousand jobs that were lost during that period. A lot of jobs okay. We were just getting back on our feet in two thousand and nineteen from that. Wow so that's one hundred forty seven thousand jobs loss. So let's say that's almost a ten year period basically so we were just starting to get back to some normalcy where the economy was starting to boom again so to answer your question i believe is going to take. It's going to take some time. But vegas definitely resilient. We like to use the moniker. Vegas straw. Vegas is definitely strong. But it's gonna take some time because we lost more than one hundred and forty seven thousand jobs is time. Casinos were closed. This time for ninety days casinos weren't closed in. We just have people come into the city but at least casinos hotels were still opening was still open back then. Maybe they had to discount prices. But we're talking about day literally closed this time for ninety days on top of all the jobs that have been lost a so. Yes when we come back. Sure how long i have no idea because we're talking about a lot of layers here so it's going to take a little while especially when you take into account the restrictions on travel That have come into place. Whether it's you know requirements for testing to go into the us or come out of the us and go home Or just outright border closures. You know i mean. You've lost a visitors from canada. You've lost visitors from the uk. You've lost visitors from from china and from japan. That's either close to or more than fifty percent of the annual visitor ship to las vegas. I just read an article. We law okay so we loss. Ees that's the biggest trade show in oro. Cbs is now has now gone digital. We had that this month. We lost that for the month for the year of two thousand and twenty one. Do you know how much that brings to our economy annually. Three hundred million. And that's one trade show that's one trade show so we have no trade shows coming. We lost a rodeo when to texas this past november through december. That's.

The disco dance show that we went, and we saw the the showcase of it, and in Brooklyn few years ago, and had a great deal of fun there, and you even introduced the hit the main character at the at the atomic saloon opening. Kind of wiped out crocodile out, you know the Tena South. y'All, he's kind of teaching. Absolutely right looks like he's on his way to the grass courts. He's amazing, and so he was a wonderful character. Yeah, and we. We drew on all sorts of characters from that period in creating that show, and he's very very different to our other three shows, and you know speaking to old. Yeah, dumber are we? Don't delay. Whereas the what is the the? What is the status of the show right now? I think that this the status we've. We've looked at many venues and we almost had deals with quite a few venues, but we want the relationship to be perfect. You know we we want. We have three great shows, and if we're GONNA, do a full. The relationship and the deal has to be right. I let's let's say the must things for show that. What do you have what what pass to be in place well, it's really that we have to be able to afford to do it properly. Because that is a Haya capital show, then The shows we produced is that that does cost more because it's five wolves of led and so thereby. I, it's a bit more expensive in terms of capital, so we need to know the space. He's GonNa. Be Available for a long period of time. We're going to invest that amount of money in building it out like that and you know we wanna make sure the right demographic fit is available to us. and we want to know what the competitive landscape is of a property right? Like his is just rose and he's like I think I'm going to the fat kid who loves I can get a deal on. May thirty bucks all you can drink beer MIMOSA. Wine and the food. There is pretty good. I don't vouch for buffets much like I know who I had to I had to. I had some friends come in town from Australia last year. And it was a group of guys and they're like we WANNA go to the buffet and boy. I don't want to go to the buffet and they're like we're going to the buffet and has that what we're doing for dinner really. And they're like yeah. It's like thirty dollars worth the Mandalay Bay. This is when she was the buzzkill on the boys. Doesn't want to go to the buff Eh. I was like who's paying for me then. If I have to sit through this town I didn't pay for that trip. Episode to Vegas would be so different. I can't wait to figure out a way to put together because I there will be no spas. There will be no no none of that. It's all strip club no high tea. Oh so I you know what I was. GonNa ask about shows other than the naked men. Oh absent absent. Have you seen it? I've seen absent absences. Amazing what did you think it was? Fantastic like not the big production. Oh but it's like malaria funny and great talent. It's all of it. Have you guys seen atomic saloon yet? No no that's the new Spiegel world show just open at the Venetian in the fall. No it is fantastic on my wife and I saw it on our trip in December. It is kind of in the same vein as absent. Cosmo TO NO. I have not seen opium yet. Opium's good so this one in inasmuch absent is more about the acts and performances Atomic Saloon has those but it also has a real solid level of comedy in between comedy is so a story. Is there a story? Lima Tomek Saloon. But Not really early. No it's it's sort of set. In this saloon slash church slash brothel okay is is uh a circular stage in the middle and then it kind of goes back to this. Raised UP SPOT WITH CHURCH. Pews where people actually do sit. They do sell seating there seating all around the circular stage. And then all around. We actually sat up on the mezzanine which I thought was better because you could see everything is. There's so much happening all around you pretty much all the time. If you were sitting lower it would be harder up. I thought it'd be harder. We're going to have to figure out how good it is. It's me if people if you're thinking absence is good for a group of girls would say atomic saloon. Okay. This is probably just as funny. I believe it. I haven't seen it so I can't give the brief stamp of approval but we need to. We need to go on with anybody. Who kind of makes that show because all the other shows are very yeah. It was one hundred bucks for show on pick one that you've researched and you got good reviews on and go for you know what? I can't give my stamp of approval for this but I do want to see it. Cirque put out a live interactive like horror thing called run. I don't know how older cycle one Johnson style. What it's called. Word is closing at the end of April. The reviews have been so terrible. I can't give it to Santo for for taking off.

"Next up. Let's talk entertainment and attractions. My wife and I managed to cram a lot into this particular vacation including show relatively new to the Vegas Strip a show that just celebrated fifteen years on the Vegas Strip and a show that just hit the one thousand performance milestone on the Vegas Strip. Also we hit up attraction that I've talked about here on the podcast. Starting with the shows I I WanNa talk about carrot top at the lecture. I've been a fan of carrots up for a very long time. I like humor because the nicest way possible. It's just so stupid it's fast paced. It's prop comedy and you don't have to think about it. It just makes you laugh and if it doesn't make you laugh before you know it he's already moved onto the next joke. Carrot Top recently celebrated his fiftieth anniversary at the luck. Sir and he just signed a contract extension to stay there for another five years. He's been on my radar to go. See for a very long time and really. I'm not sure why didn't go see the show sooner. We bought somewhat last minute discounted tickets from VEGAS DOT COM and ended up getting moved up to fill seats in the third row on the right hand side of the stage. Honestly though even if we'd stayed in our original seats I think we'd have been fine carrot. Top's theater is a small intimate venue. That seats maybe four hundred people and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. He blew through a lot of his trademark prop comedy including new jokes and some vintage stuff. He shared stories about his career and his time working and living in Las Vegas and wrapped it all up with a very cool and fun rock and roll montage. He also had a decent amount of crowd interaction including sharing shots of crown royal with everyone sitting in the first row. I don't know if it's a show that I'd go back and see again and again but overall carrot top hosts a fun time and it's absolutely worth seeing him once I'd give the show a solid eight out of ten next. Let's talk atomic saloon at the Venetian who Voi- atomic saloon. The latest offering from Spiegel world the same company that brought you opium at the cosmopolitan and the long running absence in the big tent outside. Caesar's palace the venue is a former nightclub inside the Grand Canal shoppes at the Venetian. So it's not quite as intimate as the absence tent. But it's still very very cool. It set up. Like an old west saloon slash church slash brothel with chairs position around the circular stage. In the middle as well as church like pews up on the actual stage for seating. My wife and I were up in a booth in the mezzanine which I'd go as far to say was one of the best seats in the house. We had an amazing view of the entire performance area which was great because at times. There's a lot happening during the show and it can be really tough to take it all in as for the show itself. It was fantastic aerial performances singing Hula hoops and rings. Tap dancing and comedy all performed by an absolutely stellar. Cast that really clicks. There's also a fair bit of audience participation for the folks sitting in the lower level. So if you don't want to become a part of the show. I'd maybe recommend getting seats in the mezzanine like we had. I'm also GONNA put this out there like the other Spiegel world shows. Atomic Saloon is not for the easily offended and they make that clear right out of the gate with a song that had my wife and eye laughing so hard that we were in tears but the subject matter might not be for everyone that being said. We didn't see anybody walk out of the show like we did at absent honestly though I think atomic is easily one of the best shows running in Vegas right now. Is it better than absence? I'd say no but it's easily as good as absence. Definitely go check it out but maybe considered leaving grandma home for this one unless your grandma is really really cool with Dick Jokes and finally my wife and I were lucky enough to be guests of the Bronx Wanderers at the link for those not familiar. The Bronx Wanderers have been headlining. The Las Vegas Strip for three years now and just celebrated their one thousand Vegas show. They started off over at bally's and recently made the move to the Matt Franco Theater at the link. Fronted by Dad Vinnie at an Alfie. A recording industry legend in his own right the band also features sons Nikki and Vin. A as well as several events high school friends the show features a ton of great music for multiple decades. All of it instantly recognizable. The set bounces between Vinnie's picks like dion the wanderer. Neil diamond's sweet caroline. An Awesome Frankie Valli and the four seasons madly and music from the boys like rock this town by the stray cats and uptown funk by Bruno Mars the band also did one of the best live renditions of Bohemian rhapsody. That I've ever heard then a absolutely sings his balls off on that one. It's absolutely amazing. The show also featured Vinnie sharing stories from his time in the recording industry and really highlighted. How close the family is and for time that you're in the theater you feel like you're part of that family too. I also have to say big. Thanks to Vinnie for the shout from the stage and mentioning the podcast to the audience. Very cool to get that recognition. If you WANNA know more about the Bronx Wanderers visit them online at the Bronx Wanderers Dot Com. Also I had a chance to sit and chat within a on my trip to Vegas back in November. We talked about what is like performing and touring with family. What it takes to keep the show alive in Vegas what life in Vegas is like and much more. I'm going to have that conversation in an upcoming episode of the podcast as for attractions on this trip. My wife and I made the track over to the Neon Museum to checkout brilliant. Which is they're fully immersive. Sound and Light Show. Brilliant uses led projectors to light up several old LAS VEGAS NEON signs to make them look the way they did when they were originally on display at their respective hotels. There were signs from the Lady Luck Casino the the liberace museum and many others. The show also includes music from vintage vegas periods which really added to the experience however something we didn't realize when we were buying our tickets was that brilliant is a separate experience from the bone yard where a majority of the Neon Museum's collection is on display. So be sure to keep that in. Mind when you're deciding what you want to visit over. Although brilliant is a very cool experience and would highly recommend checking it out for a little of that old vegas feeling and if you WanNa know more about the neon museums history. Make sure you check out episode number forty of the podcast bright lights big city which you can find in the archives at Jeff Does Vegas Dot Com all right. I'm just about finished but before I close things out as always I want to wrap up with a few random thoughts first off. I've discovered that as much as I love my wife. She is officially bad luck when it comes to meet playing the slots. I'm not exaggerating when I say that. If she was standing there watching me play I'd start losing but if she walked away I'd start winning and the further away. She walked the better I do. Secondly the pigeons in Las Vegas are better behaved than the tourists outside treasure island. My wife and I literally watched a pigeon wait for the walk light to come on and then it crossed the street walking on the Crosswalk Shicheng. Third there are three major trends happening in Las Vegas right now. Jill auto shops are popping up everywhere. Deviled eggs are on pretty much. Every restaurant's Menu and candy shops in Vegas have never been more popular with several new ones opening up in recent months including the brand. New and very cool massive. I love sugar shop on the link prominent and last but not least. I have to say the week before. Christmas is a great time to head to Las Vegas. Hotel rates are ridiculously low and the crowds are light making it super easy to get into restaurants shows and attractions that being said if you have a specific restaurant or show in mind check before you go to make sure that it's open. They often use the quiet time to go dark and don't reopen until right before Christmas and that brings to a close. Another episode of the PODCAST. "And you're looking at the long Tom Brady right scenario if you're a celebrity of any sort than watching you get on stage to play around a mess around is do everything for you the you do it Leonard Trick it was like Oh boy I feel latte sweat on my own you gotta try to try and so with this and I put together show of seven tricks and in the show okay so Penn Penn teller combined tree no no I can relate to work together they have to jot it I know I know I know the relations but I didn't know I didn't know if it was like Lennon McCartney thing where they where they would know it's a competitive thing like I'm teaching you teach him some let's see let's see does better pens comes forth with trick yes okay and that trick is actually what you can if you two minute alert that trick that I do one full us is the trick that taught me okay the I didn't know that that was my that was my play that they were the producers with the contest ends the contestants Oh okay all right I said Hey I'm doing magic now we we let me on the show with no was there and I said well look at the funny and I'm not doing card tricks which is which is a two categories that we were light on okay needed a US yeah okay that'd be from the US I'm wondering the talent pool is like then if you look this year this season of fool us more far contestants than American tests on the show that they reached they reach out hey I know that yeah yeah and so I was like basically it's like you'll save money by putting me on the show and they said Patel familiar with With with your trick they've they've seen it not an inaccurate so do the trick the trick that Penn taught me okay so tell her if you watch this thing tellers vary in ten if you watch the Penn and teller tellers looking all over the place trying to make sure he knows everything about okay and if you've ever watched the show at a taping they huddle up and they start talking so often if they're on states the teller will just start talking right they walked back to the chair just gets right into it and so if you're at the when you saw Pinto walk towards the chair and tell her going like okay so I saw this is so that an pen just goes shut up shop teller shut up we have everything everything we have everything for the first time and they're taping careers they watched an interview by Alyson Hannigan okay so there's one hotel taught me a trick Penn Tommy trick separately Johnny Thompson I asked him one he taught me like four or five okay and Johnny will let me come over his house and Merson Living Room and came to my shows Johnny Thompson was Super Guy Guy away very missed by many magician Yeah wonderful if okay taught me trick Brian Brushwood He's a Easter Easter is a scam school big Youtube Guy Okay. is touring magician. Brian brushwood right brushwood rogue is his yeah he's out of Austin uh-huh yeah he's not a big big okay another non Vegas Eric Dillon worked with me and then Matt King helped me with ropes now and then but the biggest factor was Rj Owens it big baby from the stairmaster it's not a lot of people know he was recruited he was doing street magic he was a magician doing street magic when critic Cirque and so he has huge magic background that was going to was put on the back-burner while he was doing mystere and so he came out and more quickly he's performed that I don't WanNa say a bail bond or inspire theater yeah shoot shows yeah really great guy yes yeah he he actually bought me dinner one night he's clutch hit a jackpot he loves a big one now he's cars back meal really Nice I've been one of the stats that I've been reciting about Las Vegas or more than twenty magic headlining show news in in the city do if you do look it up like shows that are based on magic or mental or psychic some gotta go make way for the mind Miller uh-huh what does the minute think about all right guys love you Reno's higher best of luck bad newsroom numbers Mike Hammer but Paul I want to ask you you're part of the Speaker World Universe out to roll I right now I am currently in as talent well I mean you're great come on I've worked with them for a long time I used to promote for Spiegel for a long time outside at dressed up as the jerry gough handing out discount coupons for the show while I was doing side projects with this guy that wasn't a character you were just you know hey okay yeah so just ham it up there's an opening for the zillionaire right now do do how's that going we'll be all right I think Johnny Cash Johnny Sharks questions like that was that well I know this that you guys have both had Spiegel world ah currently of sprinkle world experience and that's an interesting place for for it's a brilliant company artistic absolutely there's no doubt about it I think we're both very trek to speak honestly because if you're if you're a foul mouth comic they're definitely in our wheelhouse there's not a lot there we're eagle world yeah you know I was this is interesting because Whoa conversation with cal mccrystal at who's written atomic saloon show and I that was reinforced both of the qualities talked about it reinforced in that conversation and in studying the performances over at the borough festival fringe circus the Goldstone Andrew when it comes to acrobatic shows still but for comedy yeah it's it's it's an odd fits you have like an edge is really pushing poking at the audience thing really funny you know yes speaker worlds really great appreciation for that they will yeah they will to explore the boundaries very very fearless you see atomic you've seen it what did you think I love it I love it great time I think the venues unique You know I got the sit on the one of the seats around the stage there yeah and so you really kind of get the taken the show from the performers perspective a little bit behind the state yeah not no not the Hughes but the actual okay this part of the state jail right in the middle you are right in the middle rushed I got to go see it up from Robin's Nest Robin Leach up there up and get saved from other I I loved the you know of course it's got a country Western theme going on I love the musical accused of pop in and the musical choices for some of the performances as a Kentucky boy I can't break free of some of those The pulls on heartstrings a bit for me it's it's it's really yeah I really enjoyed that country aspect yeah take you back is it a among your objectives to be on stage in speaking world con- context at some point I think it has been for long I always dreamed that yeah yeah got another couple titles only got one other title coming down the dance show the thing have you explored that at all we are here it's called I have not I've just I've been hearing rumblings but you know I mean you know and Matt has been got the chance to work with the opium production right that's right I got in trouble that's true yeah Johnny I got we got in trouble we got in trouble yeah trouble nobody night we made good at opening it was good it was all good thing about covering Spiegel world by the way it's tough it's tough to promote and support when you can specify what the hell all the beans yeah so it was interesting the whole point of that column but the idea was to give credit where it was due yeah no and everybody Ed yeah those are some context I signed a nondisclosure agreement when I started working on the creative team and we were doing an odd press event we're letting these aliens come down from the escalator the cosmopolitan don't do some big jam dance thing whatever and up and as I was working on the show I could've skipped this event bring rehearsing we're just taking a break from anything to do at the event see my cast that is working with do their thing and as I'm watching their Jani Cat sees me walk started migos so we're like this I figured someone like you couldn't be too far away it's me I'd be the only person getting credit to his right I better not take I'm not about to take full credit for the new speaker worlds show at this press event so on our own I just name a few other names that are working on it and Johnny publishes the name give them and get them up I get a letter I got a letter from my time I got a letter from the lawyer Speaker worlds full violation of violation tonight right respond to their lawyer it was fun it was a fun day at work you know you can't win for losing sometimes like when you when you study the characters and the people minded characters you run you really want to identify them because you know we do but God you know it's tricky it is it's funny when I get official response out of the speaker world through gas just a little to say he there's no reason why he has to keep creating a making the shows that he does have absent no and to keep wanting to do something very different and if you talk to him he's so passionate about the theme or through line of each and every show and it shows the show get involved in opium was working with social media for Absent Okay and I was hitting off the Rossa parties and we were joking around on social media account for yeah okay then he he also knew that I worked for Penn and Teller Murphy Penn and teller whatever and so we just kept talking about different things and at one point he had like a like a comedy meeting anyone funny and had a meeting with them or whatever and this was before opium of for anything else he just WanNa see this other stuff that could do speak a world it just was passionate about comedy the one of the six people collected crazy lunch and right hit it off with them there and also they said they're crating opium and while she joined the team he's a great now that I have that role the kazillionaire row is the most important in that production company yeah no doubt about it no doubt the central figure of all of them so I hope whatever they do the right move you know but I don't know Paul you're there all the time how do you explain the success of of absence in on on the inside of that ten all the time I would say.
