It was so good. And there were some really intense parts. Yes. But so exciting and beautiful to look at and you just want to hug every character. Especially Spiderman warr because he doesn't want you to hug him. But you just do it. Anyway. And I love that the pig. Spider-man's voice was John Mullany because they exam me too. And Shelly spoiled me on on the part where he leaves and gives spider miles Morales the big hammer that fits in his pocket, and I liked that. Very good. I like the that's all folks. Can you say that like glee? Gli two. Theo is such a good audience. Yes. All kinds of movies, and he didn't fail us on this movie. There was jumping up and down. There was shouting. "Sometimes look like comic book pages being turned around. And just the comic book aesthetic that they're able to bring, you know, angry try to do it with the whole, but it's been done here at one point the scorpion. Who speaks Spanish, and I don't know if he knows little pop up has the asterik next to him. And it's like translated from Spanish has what he's saying. Like at the bottom of the screen. They do that in comics all the time whenever you see bracketed dialogue. That means. They're speaking in some other language, so just a lot of little great nods like that and again, just visually. This is such a beautiful film. And it's great that it has story. It's not all just visual. It's not all just style. There is substance to this is this the best Spiderman film, I. Have to go back to that. I Toby Maguire one that one won me over because I'm not a Spiderman fan, and I remember, well, I actually liked that film lot. I'd have to watch that. When again, it's the out holds up. But I could say this is up there. It's either tied or first or second. It is up there. As one of the best Spiderman films, so. Yeah. Strong recommend for into the spider's. Stewart can do small Jacob is one of the best superhero movies. I've ever seen. It deserves to be topped in is that going to be one of my favorites. Because it's not as weighty, you know, the ones I tend to gravitate the most like night are the ones that take on real world issues and really gig in and find corollaries between what we're going through this has its own universe. And it populated with splendid amazing. I'll use the word three dimensional characters that worked well individually, they work well together. Yeah. They're surrounded by these sumptuous urban landscapes, the multi-culturalism is juice that gives this whole new energy. And I'm just so impressed with this movie in part because I had no expectations. And I think. Any one will just be blown away with what they've been able to do here. Honestly, I would rather see the sequel this and game. I mean, I'm more into this team. I'm more into where they could go in this spire verse. Then I've been and that's saying something a lot now that we've covered well over one hundred comic book movies. This is John Rio. Well, played out anytime, you can have a movie that gives it new juice be at wonder woman, Black Panther. It's always great to have that. But this is one of the best. I can't believe it's one of my favorite films of the year, and one of the best superhero movies I've ever seen. There was a video game that I really liked called spider man, shattered dimensions, where you got to play four versions of spider man, but they were all in their own dimensions. But they were communicating and working for the same goal to stop something from destroying the multi verse. And you got to play Spiderman warr ultimate Peter Parker spider. Man. This was before there was a miles. Morales the regular Peter Parker spider. Man and spider man, twenty ninety nine. And I loved that game at the variations of Spiderman and how they played off each other. And I thought that was as good as it could get because I thought spider verse the comics were a little bit overstuffed and to focus on things that weren't of interest to me. I was wrong Spiderman, shattered dimensions. If you like this is a game all highly recommend. But this does it even better we get to see all of the spider people together. But yes, this is a miles. Morales origin story. I'm sick of origin stories. There've been too many origin stories, I am so unenthused for captain marvel. I want to like the movie, but it feels almost like a throwback as did doctor strange as did ant man one. It's like we've been there we need to do something different..

"He's not Ronan the accuser implies implying right now. Now Bill you saw ended the spider verse fine lie did on Saturday. And it was great. And what's yes? And what's what's interesting? I thought you'd go on further. I could if you'd like lease it was so, you know, I mean, I'm not a huge. Geek, I don't know all that much about Spiderman. Just enough. I think and but you don't need to it tells you everything you need to know. And e I guess my biggest question about it. Was you answered it for me. I said we're all of those different Spiderman in it are those real incarnations of Spiderman, and you said, yes, they are. They are whole big featured in various comics. I kinda thought so but yes, they are. And that's the kind of thing that geeks would be upset about right? If if there were a few extra where did this character, come from just really my biggest thing too was I just wondered how did they keep all of that straight? You know what? I mean. I'm sure it was a it was tricky. I'm sure there was so much going on just in terms of the animation in the and the different universes. Collapsing in on each other all the time how they kept it all straight. Well, there was it's a very funny movie. That's something a lot of people are surprised about as well. It's a very funny movie. Although it has it has a lot of heart as well. There was a joke that was cut. For. But apparently the joke in test screenings just killed, but they felt like they cut it. They felt like they had to remove it. So here it is the biggest removal involved, the dorm room scene between miles and the other spider folks the scene stands out because it's a rare moment of sincerity from Peter Parker the spectacular spider ham. He tearfully tells miles how they've all lost someone that they care about. And that's just part of the job until a month or two before the movie came out. That's not quite how it played. Now. According to Rothman, one of the filmmakers the way the scene originally went is Spiderman warr said he lost his uncle Benjamin. Peter, then confesses I lost. My uncle Ben and spider. Glenn says I lost Peter. We went through everyone. And Rothman said that spider ham says he lost his uncle Franken his office, his uncle Frankfurter. And then he said he was electrocuted. And it smelled. So good. What's that? That's funny. Now Cording Rothman test screenings it just destroyed. One of the biggest last that they got they kept the animation. It's day instead decided to change it shortly before release they kept the animation of spider ham crying. But changed what the character was crying about Rothman explained why they chose to take that out. He said it came down to integrity of the scene the characters and who Spiderman is at his core. We just decided this is a bad laugh. This is throwing off the energy in the scene and spider-man's a a real person with real feelings. And and we want people to get that. So they cut I understand. So there you go I get up. I get whether taken out for story reasons. All right. One of the big games this season is kingdom hearts three which which has the Disney connections in your remember the guys from three bit telling us about that. Sony released a limited edition of the PlayStation, four pro a kingdom hearts three version of it emblazoned with characters from the series especial PS four pro came with a copy of the game die hard fans were able to preorder this console and early early December from game stop. They were the only retailer where you could buy it in the US and Canada. And now with only a few more days until the release fans are getting notices that their orders have been canceled. Dozens of players said they've received an Email from game stop saying that they're pre orders were cancelled. And they were being offered a refund and a twenty five dollar gift certificate in exchange. We're sorry. We're so sorry sorry. Yeah. They've been telling the players that the item is out of stock, and we won't be receiving any more from Sony. Apparently, they miscounted how many they actually had can't they just make more apparently Sony doesn't want to do that don't want to. We don't want to. Okay. So this detective Pichu movie comes out on may tenth. And I know everyone is excited everyone's talking about. I will talk. No one was excited about this. No. I mean. I don't know Serge's excited. Success those exciting. Well, they're gonna love this news, legendary entertainment who made the movie they are so confident about detective peak at you. It doesn't open for three months and they've already green lit a sequel. 'cause 'cause kids and has kids and and crystal and Pika to peak at you. Let's see bird box very successful for net flicks. Yes. And so they've decided to stay in the Sandra Bullock business. Well shit. All stay in the I've I've invested. I I bought bitcoin. Sandra? Bullock bit. Let's see so Bullock and Chris McKay. The LEGO Batman, filmmaker and vertigo entertainment comic books teaming up with Miller world comic. Book adaptation, reborn is what it will be called at centers on Bonnie black and eighty year old woman who dies finds herself resurrected in a district a land filled with magical, monsters and dragons, she's once again in the prime of her life when she wakes up and finds Oliver loved ones their weight. She does she wake up as Sandra. Bullock. I think so. Yeah. Okay. So that means we're gonna get old age makeup. Sandra Bullock for a bit. So she wakes up and everyone is there except for her late husband and in order to find him. She must become a hero. So that that is on the way for net flicks. And then there is a a big article in the Hollywood reporter. I'm not going to. I'm not going to read it. And I don't know if even you should just know the thrust of it is Bryan singer. All those sexual abuse. And rape allegations by people. There's quite a few and variety has documented that again, if you wanna go read that go right ahead, but I wouldn't recommend it the company that he is currently working for a standing by him. And he is going to continue to be in development for a red Sonja movie. That's a girl Conan. So yeah, they're moving ahead with Bryan singer his film company. It's millennium is the name of the company that supporting them they said, we don't care. We're going forward. We don't care. We don't care. That must mean that they believe in they well, they say they do or money or or money worn or the head of millennium films is is a right winger because he used the term fake news in his statement. I that's what I think it is. But the bad news about this is I mean, you know, ask anybody up there at Sundance film, making is the work of thousands of people coming together to make and release a movie and keeping him on board impacts all of them. Sure. And I wouldn't be surprised that there is a boycott. You are going to get a red Sonja movie. I. Brigitte.

"I. Oh, this is actually the real quick though. What lasts Nick thing? I don't know if you're wear. This is not the first superhero role voiced this year as well. He did hear voices else in teen titans. Go to the movies. He voiced superman, which is great because he had originally going to be superman in that. Like Tim Burton Kevin Smith superman movie that like went viral of like him a dream of. Yeah. Yeah. His his son's name is call L, which is superman real name. And in the while doing the promotion for this movie, he mentioned that his condition for doing that was his son got voice young Bruce, Wayne for like one line. So like as far as I can tell it was literally they like what happened was they said, Mr. cage, you wanna voice your dream role in a cartoon for twenty minutes. And he said, yeah, but my son gets to and then they just drove over one afternoon. Each talked for like, ten minutes and went home, and he got you know, twenty thousand dollars or something like that. Like, how is that do not living his best life? Like that is the fact that happens to him, and he still like massively in debt like what is going on. But okay, continue that lasts Nick ageism out. I love I love them. You know at that's perfectly fine. So what's your next puzzle piece? I was going to go with the collective works of youtuber, Mike diva. So this one might require a little explanation, especially people who don't know that name right away. But he is a film an independent film director and special effects artists. Mostly on YouTube. But he does real commercials as well and music videos on he's very well known for like having super stylized videos, and like a very diverse that a lot of music videos or live action videos will like mix up like Japanese kung FU with like a Lisa Frank style neon are CGI thing, but he just does a million different kinds of videos. He's done gritty horror movies that look like you're watching sin city like all his most famous things nowadays. Probably are if anyone has ever seen the parody Japanese Donald Trump, add the air during the elections or the parody Pokemon, go to the polls Hillary Clinton ads he made both of those and he makes a lot of the stuff for like a super fantastic when they used to make like weird surreal visuals and stuff and just going through this dudes like YouTube iconography. Eighty. Sorry. Video Orphee like it is just packed to the gills with. Let's mash up for our styles in and like a really, hyper Connecticut away in like there's neon. There's like MTV skate culture. There's Lisa Frank. There's dark and gritty there's cheesy kung FU they're Zach Snyder editing. There's everything the do just done it all and it was so eclectic it reminded me so much of like in some videos that would be a character who has a different art style merged with everything else. The way like Spiderman warr and all those things. So that's purely visual kind of thing and especially because of the spectrum. It's not like he made anything that look specifically like. Spiderman, but just the way he handles the juggling and the mashing and everything. And he does consulting for special effects groups as well. So I wouldn't be surprised again if he had like in some way been involved in Lehto or Spiderman or something like that. Sure. Yeah. No. It sounds interesting. Have you seen have you heard of any of his videos? Okay. Yeah. Mike diva. No. I'm those things you mentioned sounded familiar, the the Trump and Hillary. Yeah. But yeah, no. I'm going to have to check them out because it does sound cool. And I I do love that when when like different kinds of media are mixed together. Yeah. One of my music videos back into the dark. Yeah. Was mostly claim Asian.

"Cage 'cause yes, I love this. I also love him, and I was actually expecting a much stronger accent from him given what he had done. I'm in kick ass when he was emulating, Adam west, right? And I had seen in the interviews that he just watched a bunch of James Cagney, Humphrey, Bogart and stuff. So I was expecting him. Like be like crooning every line. He's either. He's perfect these pitch perfect because it is great. He he's like, he's nNcholas cage. Like, that's the thing. I guess in some ways, you could say that's a bad thing. But like he so nNcholas cage. He's nNcholas cage. Doing a film, nor character a foam. One hundred percent like nNcholas cage doing a Cagney. It's not a with time. The also Spiderman twenty nine twenty nine nine which was the post credits scene Spiderman okay, and then Spiderman ultimate which is cell shaded. And looks like. It has the venom suit Spiderman so this game. You've got the four different spider-man's. You get to control all for them. They all have different powers and abilities and like themes of game play an art styles. And you know, they have to have looked at this game. At the very least to be like what we we should. At least see this is the first leg long form, interactive CGI representation of a lot of these Spiderman because there's not like a dedicated Spiderman warr Gamera dedicated, you know, while there is a dedicated Spiderman ultimate game. But in general like this is about as close as you would get to that. Whereas in the comics crossover like every twenty minutes because that's just what marvel does sell comics in the game that wasn't necessarily a super common thing up until shattered dimensions demos have been a pretty cool game. I actually I don't remember that game. What was it like last generation or I think it was PS three? And and like the three D S and stuff 'cause there was a sequel called Spiderman web of time, and that one just had I think amazing Spiderman and Spiderman twenty ninety nine. Who again, what was the was the one in the post credits scene who interacted with? Nineteen sixty six cartoon Spiderman when absolutely bonkers for when that happened. I I didn't know what was happening. Exactly. But it looked funny and cool to me, but like everyone in the theatre was losing their shit. So there's a very popular Meam of Spiderman pointing Spiderman from the old school her too. Yeah. And I and that was just parodying of the university went to. I think he said it was universe sixty six. Maybe that's a cartoon from nineteen sixty six. I don't know. But yeah, that the that blue guy was Oscar Isaac voicing Spiderman twenty ninety nine. That's right. I did read that after the fact that that was Oscar Isaac. And I was like, yes. That's awesome. Yeah. I think he's I think he's it's basically just Spiderman in the future the same way. Spiderman Oire is just an alternate universe. Which is just our universe. Seventy years ago. His alternate universe is just alternate universe. That's ninety years in the future. Like, it's not interesting. You know, it's not really an alternate dimension just further, right? Yeah. I guess some of them are not like just like what's his name? Chris pine spider, man. Peter Parker is in the same as as miles. Morales. Which by the way, props to me for knowing the name miles Morales going into this movie. I knew that that was a person and that was a character. I guess he did get a shout out in the in the last Spiderman movies, the Spiderman homecoming all in one marry Donald Glover's character. Yeah. He was he was like the like not too bad of guy gangster who was like, you know, my cousin lives here. I don't want us to destroy the town the cousin he talking so Donald Glover's. Character is prowler, basically. Okay. And then like at some point I like a post credits scene or something like calls his cousin. Hey, can you help me on like super glued to the back of a truck? And he's like all right. Thanks miles. I mean, hangs up or whatever. Which is why I was really ashamed that I was still like taken aback Chris second by the twists that prowler was his uncle. 'cause like, I'm pretty sure it's like very well established that prowler is miles rouses is like in the comics. And it certainly was foreshadowed as I know what I was honestly expecting it to be another -nother villain. Like that. Like, the shocker was gonna show up and or or a tinkerer because I think he mentioned his beaded engineering. So so I thought prowler was just gonna show up in that one scene and then his uncle's be another bad guy. I was like, Nope. It's very well established as prowler in the comics. I just completely forgot about it for some reason by that was Mahershala Ali, and I want I want to hear his voice and more animated things in a great. He was great as the Ongko. Yeah. Yeah. Really cool. I loved his voice. He was like so cool. And yeah, yeah. He had a really good rapport with kid for sure. It was a clever way to kind of do the to do the. The Ben thing again. Yeah. I don't I don't know that that's how it works in the comics that leg. That's why miles jets really big into it. But I do know that's kind of one of the the differences. You know, like miles does have his family, right? Where that's like a big difference between him and Peter Parker and stuff like that. Okay. Cool. All right. Well, so that's cool. I puzzle piece. My first puzzle piece is one that we kind of talked about beforehand that we both were planning on talking about young as we'll get to that first. And that is a LEGO movie. Oh, yeah. As well. As LEGO movie Batman as well. Like, oh Batman movie. What is it called Batman? I'm not actually sure I think it's legal Batman movie 'cause I know the worst named game in the universe is. There is the LEGO movie movie the game that is that is the name of the video game out of tation of the LEGO movie. 'cause there's also the Jan rutta OA. No, no, it's it's lay go the the LEGO movie. The movie the game. I think it's it's really bad because there's like that whole genre of the LEGO something game. And then they included the fact that it's the movie to incorporate that it's like the cash in and it's as brutal. How that's actually that actually beats the previous winner street fighter the movie the game. We asked was right there with that. Yeah. I'm pretty I'm pretty sure it's along the lines of that one. So yes. Movie. Yes. So and it should be said that Phil Lord. And Chris Miller is the other. They favorite directors in Hollywood. Yeah. They are co writers on this movie there. There are two of many writers movie had a lot of writers had directors which I guess at animation. Sometimes that does happen doesn't really happen. Live action that often. But yeah. So it's kind of expected to have some of their kind of a sense of humor sensibilities in this. And it really does. I actually wasn't expecting that from the trailer. Like, I knew of course, every movie has some humor whatnot. But it has quite a bit of that that meta like like kind of not taking it's not taking itself too seriously. Although it does in parts when the story demands it, but still joking around about the John or joking around about what Spiderman is working around about what Spiderman is done in the past. And those are all very very. Them kind of things. And that the LEGO movies are all about is is joking around about what the movie is joking around about pop culture in general. Yeah. Yeah. I'm pretty sure that the project was spearheaded by Lord. So like so like the he kind of had his fingers in the pie every step of the way. That makes sense because because I think they were like originally proposition to do it. And and you know, they had a lot of say in the visual style, which makes sense. 'cause like LEGO movie is probably the single best example of a movie like committing to an aesthetic, right? Like, even like like the water and stuff like that. Just you know, would be made with the Legos and everything and Spiderman movie was very much doing the same thing. Just for a different type of aesthetic. Like just fuck ends. You know, committing a hundred percent to end. It was a very interesting. Look like, it's takes your eyes time to get used to it. I know you are a little worried about that going into it. Yeah. Trailer on and. Yeah, I I actually didn't find the trainer to be that hard. But once I was actually sitting in the in the movie, I was like, wow. This actually is like it can be a little hard at times. But if. You're like if like stick with it. I mean it pays off because it's so cool looking. Yeah. The first ten minutes came at you, really hard to like, I I honestly rolled my eyes. A couple times the first five minutes when it was like everything was Morphing just to show that it could and stuff like that. And there was like just the montage that just fell your fucking watching like a kitty a kid in the eighties just collecting like Wayne's world on public access channel show grabbing chunks from MTV mashing them together on camera with like skate decals on it. And I was like oh my God. If this is the home movie, I'm not gonna be able to do it. But I thought that was just a pallet cleanser to establish the visual style early. Yeah. We also get a lot of hip hop. Flavors. You get like a lot of like, the spray painting graffiti stuff like that. And all that mixes in with the that comic book style. And it just makes for like just a real ridge just something you really haven't seen before. Four certainly like this and is this. I know people say it what what do you think though, like for yourself is this a comic book looks like but in motion because I think that's like that's the idea. I don't read enough comics to really be able to say it definitively. Yes. So, you know, a few different movies have tried a few different ways. And a puzzle piece that I debated citing actually was the angrily hulk movie with with Eric Bana, just because he tried to edit that movie like a comic book in certain ways in very cheesy. Hackney can't be way that I don't think paid off. But that a lot of movies. Didn't try just because it was like two comedy short ever. And the only person who's really pulled. It off is at great for making a movie seemed like a comic book up until now in a different way, though. So I I would say that. Yeah. Like watching this. I think video games have done comic book comes to life more. And it it's it's worked better, especially with like cell shaded video games and stuff like that kind of liberally looking like a cartoon. But yet, they you know, they have the aesthetic they have the editing the energy. I this is you know, it was like watching like Richard link louder mess with a couple of different comics at once and make them come to life, mash them together. Like it was. Yeah. I that's that's a fair way to say it as it's wild is very cool with the LEGO movies that you're talking about though, one thing I really liked is. They did something similar the Batman movie did which is they managed to break. The the more villains. You have the worst movie is rule that applies to India game movies on Spiderman is a huge offender of this, right? Like spider-man's worn into versus three if. You're looking at the rainy ones amazing spider. Man, two is a disaster. My God that was like eight people introduced in some capacity, either as main villains or semi Bill just a nightmare. But. Lego Batman, kind the same thing. We're just like joker is the bad guy. And instead of joker having nameless. Henchman everyone of his henchmen is like poison Ivy or cat woman or something like that. And for a movie like this, which is just packed to the gills with fan service. They don't lose anything. Right like league. No one's complaining that green goblin was only in the movie for one fight scene because it was cool because you got to see green goblin in this new art style. Yeah. And then move on. And then like if you didn't really know who green goblin was. But you saw amazing spider, man. Maybe thought that was the reptile or maybe you just thought it was a mutant Spiderman was fighting. And it didn't matter that much. If you didn't get that his henchmen was I think tombstone is his name. That's fine. He's just a weird looking dude with you know, guns, and he's a gangster. Right. And it doesn't really hurt anyone. So I was thrilled to get the opportunity. See like, oh, this is what scorpion looks like in this universe. This is what's like just getting see these characters in

Because it's going to be separate reasons for all of those things in the future, and we will be getting into those real soon. But again today on the show, we are talking about a marvel movie we are talking about spider. Man into the spider verse. This is a trippy. Take on these Spiderman universe that takes us into a very cartoon looking version of Spiderman it's it's got the production budget and the size and scope of one of the regular marvel universe films, but it is animated, but it's animated in a really cool, very authentic comic book looking way, something you've really haven't seen before. It's an interesting film. It's a lot of fun. It's filled with tons of fans service. And although I'm not the biggest comic book fan in the world. Even I was really along for the ride on this one. So it's going to be a fun conversation. And with us is our good, buddy. Ryan darting. Alright. So today on the show. We've got back with us. Ryan Darty how you doing Ryan? Hey, good to be on. You know cited about this movie for a long time. So getting to talk about it's pretty awesome. Oh, yeah. Man this movie. I, you know, me I'm not the biggest comic book guy. And I'm not even particularly Spiderman guy, and so this is a a little bit of a weird movie for me to talk about. But I did enjoy the movie. And I mean, I this is a very hard move heat tonight. Enjoy I mean, it's just there's so much happening on the screen. And so, yeah, I'm definitely glad to be getting an episode in on it. So, you know, before we get into any of the main conversation. I wanna give a quick apology to our buddy queue. This is the second time in a row that we're doing episode the queue at last minute was like, hey, I'll do that. Sodas like already doing of sorry, q. You gotta you gotta state your claim a little earlier on in the process. Everybody wants to part of that action man coveted role. I know it's true piecing it together co host is a very coveted role. But anyway, I'm glad to have you back on the show. It's been a little while since we've done one. Yes. So anyway with that said Spiderman into the multi spider verse spider verse. That's right. Verse of spiders. Yeah. There's a lot of a lot of things happening in this movie. And there's there's a lot of a lot of Easter eggs a lot of like comic book things that like you really kind of like me coming to it as a newbie like I still there's plenty to enjoy without knowing all those things, but I could imagine for a fan. There's just like so much more because. Oh, man. Where are you a big Spiderman guy? I tend to know a lot of the lore of the comic books, but just kind of 'cause you know, the same with movies where I read about the stuff. I'm usually much more interested in like the big picture story. Arc stuff than like reading the comics self Spiderman movies, though, actually, they stress me out a lot. It's a weird quirk of mine where in general, I get batting Ziobro from like double identity tight movies, especially where the the main character gets ragged on a lot for being like immature or irresponsible in some way. But it's because he's actually like a secret agent, saving the elder spy, like a superhero, or whatever and Spiderman is always the worst one because he's just like a good, dude. Try to help out his town never look at Tobey Maguire ones like like, I was so happy once like Mary Jane found out he was Spiderman, and I think maybe told his aunt at some point. 'cause like then he stopped having to constantly deal. With his girlfriend being paid attention to me because he's trying to like save the fucking world and stuff like that. Like like, it really annoys me watching those character. Like Spiderman movies historically have always kind of stressed me out in that regard of just like it's not fair spider red heat. You're doing your best like user better. I can see that must be extra hard for you, the considering how many times they've rebooted it like it. You just gotta keep going through that whole thing over and over again, which is kinda made. Yeah. Yeah. Every because every time he finally reaches a point where he's like good at being Spiderman, and like the ones he knows and loves no, he's Spiderman and like things are finally looking up, and then like, bam Ben is dying again, fifteen seconds later and just back to the star back to your aunt being like, why are you slacking on your homework? It's like because I stopped the mugging last night. Aunt may. I'm sure in two years, and you are going to be doing another Spiderman origin movie, so oh, well, I mean, we're doing Ryan what? This movie managed to fit like five miniature Spiderman origin stories into it. So that was pretty. That's a great joke. That's a great gag. Oh, it's it's it worked. So well for so many reasons like it's funny, and it's affected and like establishes things. Well, as the payoff and stuff really doesn't work. Right. So I was just about to bring up a little quick before the puzzle pieces conversation about some of the voice actors. But then I think in you know, let's actually save it because I'm sure we'll get into them as we're going through puzzle pieces. So I think let's just kind of jump in. Now. What would your first puzzle piece? Sure. So I'm going to start with like, the probably the most obvious one free who know stuff about Spiderman, which is the video game spider, man, shattered dimensions, which came out. I don't know six years ago or something like that. And like everyone nowadays is talking about. There's the new Spiderman game on the PlayStation four that everyone is raving the greatest game of all time. But was Spiderman shattered dimensions. Did was this one. Was there are four different dimensions each one with a different art style. Each one with different Spiderman and all four of them are like working together with their like, you know, cosmic walkie talkie to like coordinate missions, and they never come into each other's universes. But there is the amazing Spiderman universe which all looks like classic comics and the faded reds and all that stuff. They have Spiderman warr, which is you know, all the black and white. I I don't think it's pure black and white like this Spiderman it's much more like Noir and sepia tone and stuff like that Chatham organ, but nNcholas cage

"These unrest the movies moving as well. The relationship between say miles Jeff has died really interested. It doesn't go down. The I was desperately hoping they wouldn't go down the route of he becomes like the JJ J of this universal swearing bring down spider man at all costs. And I'm so glad that the end was some sort of reconciliation there between the call and the vigilante here also what year is Brian Tyree. Henry having my God. Yeah. He's in pretty well from self long continue because he's doing pretty well for us as well. Last question comes from Paul f Reagan when Gwen mutt miles. Why does she use a fake name? The whole thing about her coming back. We in the past knowing to find miles didn't make lick of sense. I guess just wanna turn the movie early. I think the we in the past makes total sense to me because dimensional travel Gada Timea y stuff. Yes. Bowl. Forty two year old Peter Parker and a twenty six Parker and they both sound exactly on a nineteen thirties. Peter Parker who sounds really different than has the best lines movie. He was hilarious him with the rubik's. Purple the the the constant wind going on around him. And there's a moment. West spider him on Spiderman was shoulder and his spot hams is like flowing in the breeze because he's on him on wa he is also in that bubble where the breezes it. So good. Yeah. So it totally makes sense to me that she'd come through weaker Lee. That's kind of time why he stuff totally fine. The the fight is they will react to each other. When they meet that there is this sort of spider tingle when all of the meat, so it I didn't have a problem with actually sort of made sense. Guess he didn't have it smiles at the have it when he meets her of he's been bitten which by ways. No, the thing that another clue to earn being the prowler like how did he not take into that particular tunnel because he'd been there the night before presumably working for the kingpin? But yeah, but then again miles has flop sweat and other things to worry about trying to impress his hot girl that he's really connecting with on the shoulder touch. A lovely things will, hey. Don't try to home ks miles. Morales is a professional. Working better for my Herschel ally than anyone else pretty much. I have another idea Gwen thing. Okay. There's another Gwen Stacy in these universe and simply right? Yeah. Because she's coming from everyone's coming from world with Peter Parker already much seems like maybe Peter Parker and Peter be park. So presumably there is also a Gwen Stacy in this universe that miles. Morales has met yet. So if she's going around sending Gwen Stacy, and then he meets another one Pinault's fair enough works share works for me. All right final question. Who's favorites by go petty poke is robo specifically when it had a little sad face on it. That was the most parking poll the film for me. I'm gonna say Spiderman warr because I've just remembered him with rubik's cube. Just everything he does any sense just genius of stillness, your occasionally, they recording the film. They just go out and Mike. Mike that this year? He's been Spiderman on superman such long last a banner year for him. What a what a year, but he hasn't played honor. Maybe next next next time my favorite. I, you know, I like them all I like them all sitting bastard, honestly, that's me. And is it for this? Spiderman into the spy diverse spider spoiler Spyder special. Our next sport, especially we got whole tunnel. Coming up is going to be for Akron with Reggie, James won-, spilling the beans. And that following that. We're going to have Travis night. He's not a hero. But he is night. Ask to be Bumblebee. And it'll be sometime before New Year's day. I sleep. Asleep? It'll be up at some point regular cast out every Friday as ever we go review, the your podcast which begun on Friday, the twenty eighth of December busy busy times. Anyway, until we meet again, it is goodbye from Helena Hera, give by it has goodbye. From Ben Travis whip kgab while he's just he's just gone. He's out the window and ski buying for me. I am off to once again live up to the maximum with great ability comes great accountability. Thanks for listening scenic time by..

"I haven't seen any of those CG Star Wars shows as great as I hear they are because they look awful and Disney gave no budget to those things, and it's just really simplistic character designs, really simple animation. None of that is here. This is a movie that is unabashedly comic book movie. I think more so than maybe the last one was angling hulk which didn't really get enough credit for what it was at the time. Maybe try and combine that until I've action just wasn't the way to do it. The key is animation. The key is drying and kind of two d sensitive things. I guess. So yeah, this movie looks amazing. It sounds great to great soundtrack great score Daniel Pemberton back again, the cast of this movie. I just look at the page. I I don't think it reveals any spoilers but since sane cast. Okay. Like, and so people I really love to make more plays miles Morales. He was in the get down on that flex which. Nobody saw but he was into fancy a fantastic actor there a believe he was the leading dope to Jay Johnson from the new girl. Hailey Steinfield Herschel L E Bryan Tyree. Henry lily Tomlin Kravitz, so good, Milady, nNcholas cage. We have Schreiber Chris pine this movie does everything right? It's insane. How much talent is behind it? And yeah overall too like it's great to see the miles. Morales story finally told in a good way, we got a glimpse of him in the PS four game this year. I didn't. I haven't finished that yet. So I don't know how far that gets into things. But it's. Great that this character is just getting more coverage as well. I think is really interesting interpretation of the of the Spiderman story, and I love it. We get all these other versions Spiderman, I'm not a huge follower of the comics. But I love everything I'm seeing here. I can only imagine the daddy of doing spider ham. The audacity of doing, you know, Spiderman warr and the genius of casting the close cage because every single line. He says in this movie is gold pure gold. And then of course, we have the anime inspired spider girl thing to and that's is there's just so much going on. Yeah. Appreciate that. Andrew, Drew? it's it's so good. It's hilarious like just great little humor there. But it was just like an animate version of Spiderman it was like a robot like diva in in over watchers. But also, you gotta get into enemy and there so she has a telepathic link to her spider, and it's convoluted enemy basing it's somebody who like has more than a passing interest in enemy. You know? Like, they did their homework on its they did their homework for everything in this movie. But in particular, I just love all these characters we see because they all represent different styles of animation. The genius of this movie is figuring out a way to make spider him work and be like a silly looney tunes character while also existing in the same world, Spider-Man war, and like with all the stuff happening with mouse. Morales to it's insane. This movie is a miracle. All right. I wanna read the apple music. Description of the soundtrack for Spiderman into the spite of. It says here there was nothing to -sarily wrong with the soundtrack to two thousand Toby Maguire.

"And there's even a spider hand, and they're all coming together across dimensions to stop a sinister threat from the strolling them, all Leonard Maltin. What did you think of spider man into the Spiderman I just saw last night? At an actual movie theater with real people. Yes. And I was a little worried because I've been so hyped over the past week by friends whose opinions I trust including you. I sit it can it be that good. Yes. It's that good, and in terms of innovative qualities, it is truly mind blowing. I don't use hype words like that very much this film earns those type words it is trying to be a live in comic book. And that's the that's not not only the mindset, but the look and apparently achieving the visual style was very difficult. Very tough to do. Computers can do a lot, but they can't do everything. And I'm told what they actually resorted to if that's quite the term was hand-drawn animation. That's how the how do you draw comic books? Computers. Don't draw comic books. It's an artist with a pencil or ink nib, you know, doing it. And that's what they did here. And the look is just phenomenal. It really is. But it's. Ganic to the film. I mean, you can't separate one aspect from another. I think they really Phil Lord. And Chris Miller who are the LEGO the LEGO movie guys get cloudy with a chance of meatballs twenty one. Twenty two jump street on live action. They've done. They started in sitcoms on TV. They have an interesting background both of them. But. Wow. Wow. Wow. Jeff says that is really the word that describes one single word that scribes spider verse alone. His well. Yup. Perry I can't stop talking about this movie. And everyone out there knows because we've talked about it quite a bit on this channel and really every single time. I talk about it. I think I fall more and more in love with it. There are just so many things about this movie that I think just take storytelling superhero, storytelling on the big screen at least and animation such a major step forward. Because when you think about it if on paper, you read something in and said to yourself, oh miles Morales. He's going to meet another Peter Parker. He's going to be spider. Gwen spider ham, Spiderman warr, and who am I n penny park park is that going to work and also we're going to make all of that feel like you're reading a comic book that shouldn't work at all. And then on top of that not only does all this spider people stuff work with his spider people family, then he's also got a real. Family that anybody out there can connect to and relate with when you see his the influence that his father and his mother have on him in his daily life. And then you see the influence Peter b Parker voiced by Jay Johnson has on him and all of them. It makes for such a rich character that I forget, it's we're talking about the technical wonders of this movie, or at least I was. I was harping on that. But you've hit the nail on the head because it could have all of that. And it wouldn't matter if you didn't care about the characters, and if there wasn't an underpinning, a solid underpinning of emotion where you are involved. You are engaged. It does matter to you. What happens to these characters? There is so much so much going on in this movie Perry and Leonard so much maybe maybe little too much. Okay. But like. Like, you know, what in in spite of itself, it all does work and first of all like, you point like you both pointed out a mixture of action, of course, it has to have the action, but the heart and the humor and the drama that is perfect balance. And after decades of Peter Parker being the only spider man in town. So to bring all these different incarnations together in a way that really is smart and it works, and they all help each other and elevate each other, but Peter Parker. Peter Parker we've seen Peter Parker in highschool. We see them in college. You know, we've seen him in the comments. We seed him Mary to Mary, Jane and divorced. But but really what we see in this movie as voiced by Jay Johnson is a Peter Parker going through a midlife crisis. And okay. So here's why his why couldn't wait to talk to you about this movie. Because when I saw for the second time it occurred to me. It hit me really strong that spider. Verse. Are you ready? It is the it's a wonderful life of Spiderman movies. Here's why here's why. So Peter Parker. Peter Parker is George Bailey. He's having a crisis and

"Peter is poor. Or Peter Parker pick the Pekka pickled peppers? Yeah. Usually though set photos aren't the most flattering when when you see this stuff on me, hell look at that God damn Shas AM costume. I mean, any don't look all that much better in the trailer, but it definitely looks better once they've tweaked it with CG and shit like that because you know, it's, it's. It's whatevs I guess. I mean, I. I just I have a feeling a sneaking suspicion that the reason that they're doing this is there like, how can we sell more toys? It's like we, we're going to give him like nine different costumes. So you're like, oh, this is Spiderman. Warr instill Spiderman and Scott damning. I keep fucking it up. Superior spider, man, Jesus Christ. You're welcome. Thank you because I'm just like I'm over here. But I, I got a sneaking suspicion that that's kind of the whole point and I'm doing this is there's like, oh, you know, it's going to be another way for us to sell some toys and it's like, don't don't don't do some dumb shit and fuck this up completely. But I mean, like I said, it's only set photos. There's not a whole lot. You can get, you know, we can surmise from this. I mean, anything is just conjecture at this point, but I think it looks pretty cool. I am not hundred percents sold on a chat, but once in motion, you see in context and understand why he's wearing it. Then I think I'll have a better appreciation for it. I'll probably so I just don't like change, especially when it comes to Spiderman, don't fuck. They killed. Oh my God coming back, I'll believe it. We're not fucking. Anyway, moving on..

"Saw that people enjoyed his work enough to try to emulate on the big screen he created like so many of the spiderman stuff as well it wasn't just spiderman i mean he did j jonah jameson he did scorpion did norman osborn i mean think squirrel girl was one of the people he made i mean there's a huge list of scorpion trying to think of any more i mean there's so many iconic characters that he made so i just pulled up on wikipedia category characters created by steve ditto there are a hundred and five pages or hundred five characters referenced in characters created by steve dicko so he i mean very prolific some of these were like way back in the day like there's a character called burglar which i'm pretty sure did not make it into the modern marvel or dc dc world but characters like adam who is a golden age has been making a resurgence lately thermometer hey you know what nightshade from luke cage season two are you sure nightshade is the dc comics shame oh thank you i don't you feel silly jeez jeez nightshade when i when i legitimately when i put two together and i was like oh that's nightshade like brought me so much joy season ended i ripped it away it i ripped it out so there's like yeah watch luke cage season two okay yes squirrel girl gwen stacy their ban she ben no way way actually make sense because spiderman because marriage in fantasy fifteen which spiderman's first parents so hundred and five characters created by steve dicko i mean this the he has he has left a legacy he he's he is definitely left a legacy that is there i've come to bargain excuse me all right well steve disco he will be remembered for a long time to go because of his his talent his skill his dedication passion to comics so moving onto our next story the under the radar story that we have picked out for this week has to do with has to do with nick nope nope not not that nick no no not not that nick either nncholas cage joins spiderman into the spider vers spiring superman into the spider verse final what he's going to be one of the spiderman is that is that not what is happening oh yeah yeah they're they're bringing superannuated like i have i have a comic book where superman fights spiderman i have one of those crossover coming i i wanted so it has happened cool it's going to happen in the spider first right right because what else would nncholas cage be lending voice for ghost rider bike the people show yes that ghostwriter that goes to you okay hotak ghostwriter all right so he's he's playing spiderman warr spiderman to ours kind of a cool character he has not know who spiderman wars vaguely so he's an alternate spiderman from the thirties and he runs around like he's fighting is like if spiderman crossed with the untouchables and the spider that bit him was gotta figure out what it was yeah yeah he's he's bosses and he he runs around with a gun and it's funny because the the i've got a trade with spider man duar and he is like going to the opera with mary jane and she's like that spiderman is a menace of it was like oh this is very different because spiderman is is running around with a gun it on the criminal underworld because they were the ones who killed his uncle ben and the city's major crime lord was none other than norman osborn so healer no i'm pretty sure that's fine because this is does into the spite of her so we're not like webbing like in the band of his hat or something maybe or like like as like a pocket square that has the spider no spiderman i maybe maybe on that one i don't know but the that's that's what they should or like his tie or something so he wears a black trenchcoat he's wearing all black when i say crossed with the intangibles it's not that he's dressed like the intangibles that same kind of that same kind of he is the he's wearing all black mask and black like old timey motorcycle goggles and a black trench coat and yeah i mean he just a cool look and spider seriously why not just put a little red pocket square because it's black and white matter it's normally i'm looking up pictures of and he kind of just looks like the.
