Spider-Man: No Way Home Review

"Eventually. What else do we have to see, sunny? Well, so the big movie out this weekend, and the big movie of the year really is Spider-Man: No Way Home. I mean, this movie is going to be an enormous enormous hit. I thought yesterday with a packed house at the Alamo drafthouse near me, audience loved it. Spider-Man, no way home, of course, our Spider-Man, it's got Tom Holland as Spider-Man. And if folks remember the end of the last movie, his identity had been revealed to the world by J Jonah Jameson who was playing a kind of Alex Jones like figure kind of conspiracy theorist, doing a very funny, very funny turn by J. K. Simmons. But this movie picks up right where that one left off. So everybody knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, Spider-Man and Peter Parker. He's got to try and figure out a way to get the world to forget about him and he turns to Doctor Strange, who has played by Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Cumberbatch, cashless spell that tries to reverse the race the knowledge that Peter Parker is Spider-Man from. Yeah, Doctor Strange should be smarter than this. You would think. He was warned not to cast the spell by his assistant slash sorcerer, the new sorcerer supreme Benedict Wong. And he does it anyway. He cast the spell in it. It messes up the very fabric of reality, villains from previous iterations of Spider-Man movies start pouring into Tom Holland's Spider-Man's universe, the green goblin, doctor octopus, the lizard electro. Hello, Peter. That's a great trailer, by the way. Hello. It's a really good trailer. I'm not giving away anything that's not in the trailer. I'm careful not to either. These are no spoilers here, really. And Peter's got to get Peter's got to get them back to their universe. That's all I'll say about that about a lot.

"Hello i'm dan. Gosden an eye on every issue of amazing spider man including the annuals. Which i say count. I'm not pretty declarative. Say that oh you say that then. We'll i'm mischievous march. Nacchio i to own every issue of amazing spider man. But i say the annuals. Don't count dan well. Looks like we are eternally pushing this rock up the hill of discovery over. How we feel about this disagreed. Yes agreed disagree. Welcome to the amazing spider talk. Everyone the show. Where fans and collectors uncovered the strange fund and fascinating history of the spiderman. Comic universe thank you for joining us for this review episode of the amazing spider dock. Where we. I'm sure you can guess review a new amazing spider man very very good explanation. Dan today on the show. Dan and i are going to be discussing. Amazing spider man volume five number. Seventy one legacy number eight seventy two. This she was written by nick. Spencer with art by federico. Vinton teeny and federico sabatini. Color is by alex sinclair and letters by the show car among and then the cover is by mark. Bagley john dell and brian river. The issue was first released on july. Twenty eighth twenty twenty one. Dan have we ever seen. Federico inchon teeny and federico sabatini in the same room. At the same time i ask you that no but i've seen their artwork and i think it's pretty distinctly different. I don't know so mark. This is our first amazing spiderman. You know part of this sinister war story. Look going into these. I expected sinister war stuff to be the kind of like big brolly books. Where like you got your splashy action and amazing spider and to be kind of like the core kindred part of the story we got the more kind of emotional stuff and the more character oriented thing and maybe all the big reveals. i dunno. Margret your expectation heading into this. Yeah i think it's a fair one. That kind of seems to be the template. We've been getting All along with the spencer event books so like. I don't know how you felt about this. But i i felt like this book was kind of a casualty of that format because i feel like there's a certain number of reveals and revelations that are probably going to come down the pike if you're balancing these two books and making them kind of like crest at the same time as a tricky task for any wider. Nothing much less one. That's putting out books at this speed. You don't i kind of feel like this was a victim of maybe kind of having to wait to pace things out a little bit and it still feels like more repeated beat and setup. There's a few wrinkles here. But i felt like this was like a hurry up and wait kind of issue. Basically i mean for me. This felt very very much. Like a stall issue. You know yes. Sinister warner wasn't perfect. But i mean it was kind of frenetic and chaotic and have lots of spiderman action and lots of villains and we kind of like us this to tune in more with them. J. a mysterious and and mephisto not murphy so Kindred like you said we we..

"All right mark. let's get part three of a four part arc year in the chameleon conspiracy. What that conspiracy is is still beyond me. Three out of the four parts into it. You know. I guess kind of seeing things dovetail but but even that is gonna say yeah. I mean there's a finisher conspiracy. Then there's some stuff going on with like chanson and the jack lantern and and the clairvoyant. But but i mean the chameleon has a presence in this but yeah i mean if this is some kind of master plan. I'm not seeing it dan. It's kind of Stuff that's happening in. The chameleon is observing. I mean you know. He's an observer the way that spiderman is an observer it seems a lot in his own comic. So there you go. That's a great place to start. I mean we really dragged the last issue. And i think i texted you before you had a chance to read this onto little bit better than that one but like i think upon rereading it like if it's better it's better in the most marginal way possible in that spiderman is a more pronounced presence in this title and feels like he's actually engaging with whatever. Were reading here still not entirely sure but whatever we're reading yeah i mean. I think you're exact text to me when this came out was there's some cool spidey fight scenes and that's that's true. I mean there's some good action in this. I mean improvement from last time. But you know we're basically getting into the game with nick. Spencer's run and it does make you wonder like your intent. Was this intentional..

"The lizard is the least consistent status quo in history of comics that that's for sure so of course spiderman busts in right as they're about to like hijacked this machine he's got to protect it for some for some reason you know he's very worried about jamie. Alex in our chat is saying wasn't kurt briefly seen as human and forty six. Am i going insane. Alex i felt like i was going insane to so so maybe there's something there i need to double check it but i i'm a little bit like up in the air on curt connors. The moment i'm guessing he's gonna come into play in the story some way but Yeah i i don't know i mean i'm kind of tired of watching and try to heal himself totally honest so so. That's the end of the book. Like you said threat level midnight with all of these characters firemen clearly not going to be able to defeat and then we get another sinister war and this time. I'm right in saying well. I was right last time too. But semester. War another stinger doc recruits the salmon. Who has a lost sense of morale of mortality. I didn't get this reference. But he clearly you did dan whereas has come from. Yeah this comes from like some of the final chips areski stories. There's a chris. Bach h-a-l-o Chips that areski story. The touchy pretty neat. Really really weird. Where like this were sandman. Kind of like realizes he can't be killed and he's like kind of immortal and the story kind of goes through. It gets all tiny weiming. We'd see like sanmen. At the end of the universe where he's kind of ascended to become this cosmic deity thing. So he kind of by. The end of that story can have relinquishes his humanity and when i guess we're finding amir on this island where he's just become the beach and lost his kind of like they say your sense of mortality which i thought was cool because like i thought that chips that archie story was pretty cool if not totally out of left field and have someone kind of keep that status quo going and not forget about it at least make that story feel a little more grounded in the universe of of these comics. I don't know man. I think we could get two pages back in the comic and do more stuff with peter and then just have doctor. Octopus show up with the sinister six and i wouldn't baton. I don't need to pages of him like one at a time. Getting each of these characters that seems just like a waste of space could be better utilized to me so well it seems like it's probably what you're gonna get though. So alas yeah. Let's give the singer grade mark. i mean i. It's funny that we're already at the end of this because it feels like. We didn't really hardly talk about anything. But that's it that's all the comic there was. That's the team. Yeah i think this one is a d. Is it a flat d for me. I'm right there with a d- d for me marceca's ham. It's time damn time for all good things to come to an end so we want to say thank you to you. The listeners and viewers for tuning into this episode sorta of the amazing spider talk. "Title right but either way there's very little of chameleon or conspiracy going on in this issue like i don't. I don't really know you know why it needed this. Big of title. We bring in a new co writer on this book. Ed brinson is being brian to the book. I can imagine. I can come up with reasons. I think that that's happening right. Some people are like. Hey are they grooming at brisbane to be the next writer on amazing spiderman because a lot of people recently had been really like touting is nixed venture leaving the book and the more time goes on. I don't think so. I think yes. We're wrapping up this kindred thing but i don't think he's leaving quite yet and neither is he being replaced by ed. Brisson like to me at bresson is brought in here in a christos gage role because spencer's being asked essentially do the impossible. I think which is produced a weekly amazing spider man title when we're getting the superior war when we're getting a spiderman book every single week. That feels like a mistake. Although i don't think eberson did a bad job here. The fault in this book is really on the plotting. The art seems cobbled together. The story is all over the place if you wanna call it a story. There's copy editing mistakes throughout the piece like when you can't spell clairvoyant on the opening page you got a problem like did anybody read the opening page. I just felt like this was a mess. Maybe i'm being too harsh on it but like to me. This is bottom of the barrel. Nick spencer i mean at least there's like lots of spiderman in this comic right. I don't think. I don't think spiderman shows up for a second in this comic. Does maybe when he's like swinging around again. He showed up at the very end. The final page right. sure right. No but yeah but point being like i mean this is like you know if you wanna tell like in camps encapsulate like you were just saying all the things that could go wrong in a nick spencer issue of amazing spider man. I think we got them all right here like this this this this comics got it all then i mean the big thing for me about this comic is it's not story. It's back story and ret cons as story and the ways to do backstory and ret conned that are satisfying. You know you can build things up or slowly release information and this issue is nothing but a you need to get from aid. Be that that's the thing you need. Here's some plotti plot plot and here's a big ret con that just like takes up four or five pages that isn't even internally consistent which we can get to. It's just i think it's just a mess. And i just don't know who's editing this title. I don't don't were that. Said you wanna get into some of the finer points here. Yeah let's get through this. Let's get through this. Because i i just don't even think that this issue deserving lower critical analysis to the level that we give these books right anyway i senior. The comic does start off with a bang. Or does it. Because it's a hologram. Three parker immediately starts firing upon the finisher. Remember him from last episode..

"How much this book is able to kind of just like yada yada move on. Like peter's beating himself up about betty in one scene and the next scene. He's just like getting berated by his friend and like there's no sense of the continuity of peter's life like oh my gosh two of my friends have told me really awful things that i'm involved in like how that impact me. I feel like the book would have been all about that like twenty years ago. And now it's just like okay onto the next scene and and that goes to peter's curiosity too like jamie blows up. Adam and peter just says well then again you never know what people are going through at where i feel like and this is a great microcosm for like spent. Spencer's run which is like. I feel like in the past. If jamie done that it would have been set up to a whole issue of spiderman where he trails jamie home to see what he's doing and spider-man's peering in through the window and he sees jamie as a six a sick mom and so he tries to help him. But it kind of backfires like you could do a whole issue just about spiderman coming to terms with that and maybe we'll get it but we're too busy moving onto the next thing you know. That story just gets left behind. We go to join silver. Sable y i also really don't care about in. This story is no knock on silver sable respond to that. And then we'll finish up the jamie see do you. Do you feel like that's accurate. Yeah no absolutely. It's just kinda like well. this happened. Wocka wocka moving on i own. I mean like like you said like we're not we get these these little glimpses of like i said earlier. This the sense that that this creative team has a grasp food these characters are and what they wanna do with them. But then like i also feel like. It's like this aggressive. Need to get certain plot out but yet if you tell me like to give a good summary of everything that happened in this comic. I don't feel like a lot happened in yet. it was very heavy. Is that makes sense. Yeah that make sense lip. Service was being played to plot beats but like i don't know if the pop beats amounted to much of an actual story. Well i just. I don't know how of these things relate to protagonist like okay so we were made to care about jamie. And he seems like he's doing well. His mother's on is sick and on dialysis and he stealing candy for his little sister. Rosa may and trying to care for her and he's like you know he's he's up to his neck in he's he's got like rising debt because apparently he had been using the clairvoyant to win. Gamble which we've seen but he had also like allowed himself to lose a little too much now he's in debt and here comes chance to blackmail him so that he will go along and give chance to clairvoyant. And it's like okay. Great like but like jamie's not our protagonist you know like how does this relate to spiderman. I don't know anyway. That's relates to spider man. I guess other than the jamie is now going to need to steal the catalyst remember that thing from since rising i mean again i..

"It was like a one off character that showed up in a graphic novel that was sorta kinda in continuity. I feel like this was during the superior era. Right i mean was a two thousand fourteen. I think it was right after superior so is like probably about six or seven years ago. Yeah and yet. She's like still kinda managed to like hang around under you know under the guise that she she may be peter parker sister. She may not be and you know clearly. We're setting this up. You know in this story lines kind of maybe finally get an answer to that. But in the meantime you know like she's coming after chameleon who's being held in this this torture prison facility and she's you know hot for blood because he killed her partner david and you know again. Speaking of character is we don't care about who's david. Oh yeah that guy you know like who cares. I don't care. Like i need a reason to care about any of this right now. You know this is. This is just like total telling not showing about all of the emotional beats of all of these characters right now. It's like oh yes. These are things that happened in this comic and these characters are expressing very fervent emotions. So thus you should care. But like i just you know there's been no builders been no reason to be invested in the tragedy for theresa and her partner here so this is just kind of like words on a page and you know with loud noises from gunfire and whatnot. We know the kudarat that is chameleon kind of coming forward and flashing back to one of the probably more. I hate to say it. Because i know our our friend of pod danny was heavily available this but like the the life thefts storyline involving peter. Parker's parents returning from the dead and being revealed to be like androids..

"You use suggested that. This wasn't our current hairy but the erased harry from pre brand new day which is kind of been long your guests. Yeah and i don't disagree with that. I i guess i i guess if i was the guest that would be i guess but like again it's the presence of carlise like completely befuddling me here like it's like why are we bringing her in here now and like with these two characters like where does carly figure in like it. She figures in because she's a brand new daycare like i. Maybe it's because. I'm foggy on the relationship between carleen harry more immediately. She's the one found an extra body in the morgue right. And let's just play out your idea. And i'm gonna make some really spurious guesses here. I think we said at the time. Maybe the extra body is another corpse of harry osborn you know or the dead body that like reportedly like mysterious made to fake everybody out about harry dying or whatever like there was an there's another harry osborn and carly discovered it right which would make sense a kindred. Wouldn't want that known right. So maybe thematically. She's not necessarily tied in but like in terms of protecting his secret on who he is under the bandages. Or whatever which we've seen right. He pulled his mask off. And it was harry. I think this is all just moving towards your thing. Right seeing another harry in this prison cell like in my mind that harry lyman. I know he pronounced the name. But it's an easier way to separate the two. That is harry lyon and kindred is this dead alternate harry. Gallagher raised from the time line and this is like a chess move closer to us saying checkmate. I don't necessarily disagree with you. But i actually think that you were right like i it. It pains me to say that pain that you're so right no i hear you. I know and and you're right. I don't i i shouldn't when i say like i don't really have a guest. I guess it's more like this. This doesn't move me from my original like solid guests of what this character zero. I mean because i feel like to to move off of it based on this new evidence. And that's where the frustration is. It's like i'm. I'm wondering if this new evidence is is is it misdirection or is it meant to kind of move up move me off of that gas and if it does move me off of that gas i feel like we're we're we're still cheating. It's worth noting to. I mean through through this whole arc. Whenever moreo is is communicating to kindred he refers to as demon an and even you know even though like morteau doesn't really know where the demons origin were kindreds. Origins are and the fee. So didn't know where where can will feel like wherever he is. He's not mine. Yeah he's not one of mine which i mean mukisa before crap. I mean that's not like you know beyond the character but like it is worth knowing that like these these. These demonic characters are acknowledging kindred as a demon in-kind which i think is important as we kind of go into this because again like if this was just harry osborn under mask it. That's harry osborne as we currently know. It's not a demon it some demonic version of harry more near this is ultimately. That's why the why remains more prevalent than the who right. Like i think mark you figured out who it was extensively early on. You know. the question is why is it. Appearing as harry osborn and what is it want you know and how is it all tied and clearly..

"Look i could get hung up all day unlike the mechanics of the spot escaping. Because it's like okay. You've got the spot in prison. And he's also imprisoning ca kindred. It is weird that it took norman like opening a door and releasing him. You know to then free kick. It just feels like it's a little bit weird the mechanics of it but it's fine and this isn't one of those like it's comics. Kind of things. It's just like this is not a detailed to get hung up on you know until kindred has released from his spot prison we kind of leave that scene behind norman rushes to kindred. Yeah and we have kingpin reaffirming you know with with richard's return things are gonna be different. I mean we'll see you know like this this whole plot development. Frankly i i mean i appreciate. They didn't go the obvious route of you know that we were all predicting like. Oh he's going to resurrect vanessa again. I'm still kind of confused as to where this is going to go. And frankly kind of tying into the next scene a little a little a little kind of underwhelmed by like the threat level that the these heroes kinda presenting as you know. The rose presents i mean. Don't get me wrong. I really liked how this scene opened up with. Spidey kind of being sullen and looking down at the new avengers or whatever the the click wanna call them the defenders whatever you know and being like you know how did i get duped by boomerang. I thought he was changed. And you know now. I've really made a mess. Because the rose is back and it's very bad news and and like the roses obviously he's a villain but like an i think he's a good villain but like you know i don't know we're not talking about like some cosmic powered fo- here it's not like oh i brought back thanos still like wipe out humanity. I mean i'm like okay. I mean like you're selling drama here but the drama might be a little overdone overcooked. Here i don't know do you. Do you see what i'm saying. Or am i being too literal here. No i mean if i'd to peel back the curtain and that's exactly what i wrote you know in the note leads. The roses returned is very bad. News and quote. And i'm not sure like what a few webs and punch to the face really like does like the rose was not super powered. He was just very connected. And could you know was a bit more. Like i don't know if he was more conniving than kingpin but he definitely was more chaotic than kingpin and like to kind of shake things up because he was trying to get at his father. Don't really know whether like a heeled rose who seems extensively like you'll have a better relationship with his father like what threat he brings like. He's not resurrected with his whole force of thugs. Will the rose coming back mean. That kingpin is more chaotic. It seems like less. So he's like trying to heal things. But it does seem weird everybody's reacting like it's the end of the world that the rose was brought back. I mean it's just. This is nothing in the character's biography and and and and not to get too deep in the weeds here. But frankly you know. Don't let's not forget when the rose was first introduced by tom to falco..

"This was a needed kind of refresh to kinda restart in a new direction. If if i just had one overarching complaining would've been like let's like kinda you alluded to here. Let let's find a way to spiderman. And his next story kind of moving forward to because that that's to be the one big thing that was neglected in this whole missile thing. So i mean we get a couple moments with him in costume I think like this is the dan slot run first of all. I think there would be less thread being woven together. I don't mean dense lot. Really focused on supporting cast quite heavily. And that's something we knocked him for. And so like. I gotta give praise where someone is doing. The opposite we would have gotten probably like an obligatory fight with the lizard or some other foe that you've really never posed a threat or any plot significance spiderman so lake in lieu of that. I appreciate what we got here was more meaningful to me than than like him. Beating up on some random dude. Although that stuff is fine. I think about that like her. Umberto ramos drawn lizard fight. That was kind of fun to read from. I don't know whatever fifty not fifty one hundred is use the go. Oh my god we're are you mean the lizard or the iguana sorry. The iguana lizards a pretty big deal. So i don't think that would be a throw a white rabbit or whatever. Yeah i know exactly what you're talking about like it's one of those little kinda like sidebar smack downs for all the gulf we give knicks bencher about closing as many threads as he's reopening. You know there are some conclusions..

Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Best Trailers of 2021

"The biggest trailer in the history of trailers premiered a couple of weeks ago. It's spiderman no way home. Now if you're a fan of the ring a podcast network. There was a two plus hour episode of the ringer verse entirely about this trailer. Hosted mallory ruben featuring danielson there was also a green room execution with mallory and then there was also a conversation between chris and andy on the watch about the spiderman. No way home trailer. So what do we have to contribute to this conversation. I actually do have something. I i love so much in. Particular is one of the greatest out there. But i do not listen to the two our breakdown of the trailer because that is engaging with the trailer and m. c. you and the world building in the way that fans of that franchise in existence do and i just engaged with things differently but i did listen to the watch. And here's the one thing that i think. Everyone is missing from this conversation. Wow here we go. I'm excited about this. Which is just understanding that. Tom holland is basically a one man one direction at this point for an entire generation. And so the the idea that this is like the most watch trailer ever has a lot to do with you. Know spiderman and the popularity of these movies and yada yada. It also has a lot to do with a lot of fans of a certain age who for whom tom holland and sunday and also like a massive massive star. They are the entry point for these movies. These franchises and also kind of the most important. I mean there's just like a teen beat quality to this which i do not say it's important for the teens. Have idols it really is. I'm speaking for the teen girls here. Anti boys honestly. I don't know why being exclusionary but so i what i think is interesting is to what extent can you convert those fans like phase. Whatever but clearly part to you and the multi verse which is what both this trailer and internals and this next chapter is trying to do

Marvel's Spider Man Game: Everything You Need to Know

"I'm Andy Solomon Marvel. Spiderman puts players in an original story action packed with adventure for the famous Web slinger. Players take on the role of an experienced spider man who has spent eight years behind the mask, defeating new threats as they emerge PlayStations Assad Kissel bash has more despite a man is more experienced, and yet still vulnerable. Tony's acrobatic agility and mastered combat, which will see right away in the first few minutes a game play, but it's Peter Parker. He also grappled with this mounting pressure not to mess things up. He's older has jobs and bills to pay you learn. It's not easy being Peter Parker and Spider Man when these two worlds collide. The gameplay is remarkable, just like the story. And how about Marvel's New York City marbles? New York City is impressive, and Sony really outdid themselves with the Games, richly detailed Manhattan neighborhood. Definitely take some time to swing around the city. Only a lot of fun, but you might just find a hidden secret or two. For more information on Marvel Spiderman visit PlayStation dot com. During these difficult times, we understand

"Together in some regard so of course they use venues gog to track down fred and that seems to kind of move us closer towards while this giant sides. That's coming out tomorrow. Go back to this osbournes. We return back to federico sabatini's art to catch up on osborne. What is he doing so he so. He's blackmailing a guard to get into the cell next to kindred. So what do we what we think that's about. I mean do we do. We think norman's plotting with somebody is he trying to get closer to kin. What's your what's your take on this. Because like i. I kind of had a. I don't wanna say ambivalent read but i had i. I had a hard time figuring out where this might have been going. So i'd be curious to hear if you have a more concrete theory. 'cause i don't have a lot on this. I don't really have a concrete theory. I'm kind of like up in the air. About like who is isn't isn't at ravenscroft at any moment in time like one point juggernaut was there which like okay. I didn't really know how that happened. I know john jameson is like working there. But may you know but to me. It seems like maybe osborne is trying to set up like a diversion something that could cause chaos and ultimately allow him to free kindred or something like that. I don't really know but what's interesting. Is it kingpin. Git gave osborne a day to solve the kindred situation before he comes back. So whatever's going to happen with kindred and osborne is probably going to happen pretty soon i would have to imagine. Don't you love those. I will give you twenty four hours to screw everything up teals favor. No he's got meeting comics. I'm gonna. I'm the evil genius but i'm gonna walk away for a day right exactly exactly speaking of boomerang. He's an in bullseyes sites. He's in trouble kanan. Well yeah but who's to the rescue. I mean i think before we started recording. I referred to these characters. The defenders. But i don't know if they're technically the defenders it was a mishmash of of street level heroes and and maybe not so street level including hawkeye spiderwoman. Iron fist. luke. Cage jessica jones and we. We think wolverine like ninety percent. Sure wolverine right. I mean i'm half hoping it's demand like that would be my dream. But i don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's wolverine you know having these characters in the costumes that they're wearing given although the state of the x. "That like roderick. Kingsley has just like he's almost doubled down on the like everybody is. The hobgoblins is now like everybody. Is everybody right right right. And i don't know if this is where you're about to get into your speculation but robby has a warning to peter about jona here Which was kinda interesting you know in terms of you know to kind of be careful of them which you would think peter would be aware of but i mean like i said this is where you're going with your speculation with the suit dan or are you saving that for even later. No no i think this is a good point to get into it. I mean like your. It's joan right so like the other card is or over the other shoe. Always about to drop. Jonah has goals and he'll get there maybe not always the most ethically ethically whatever way. Sound way you know. We don't know where the suit came from. And i i you know. I think we're meant to kind of hand waved like it's just the threats and menaces sued you know there. Was this big ad in in this book. For the chameleon conspiracy or whatever. That book is being called where it's a split face between spiderman and chameleon may reminded me. Oh yeah we've got a chameleon story coming up. A chameleon story mean someone here is chameleon. Right i mean like he's been working behind the scenes for awhile and infiltrating things and plotting revenge on spider man in some way in you start thinking about the powers of this costume is to basically get insiders spider-man's head and view him from all places an unthinking what if the chameleon has something to do with you know this costume in some way or is working at threats and menaces and using that some way to control spiderman the there's something going on here and if the suit is not gonna play a big role in this arc. I think certainly is going to play a big role in the next arc. And this line here about jona seems to be the setup and so i am i i. I'm all of a sudden hugely sceptical about the suit and its proximity to something. Like the chameleon is that sound at all sound. Yeah yeah no. Totally tracks i do want to add that that house add with the chameleon completely threw me in terms of how was like spice into the book. Because they did it..

"And then we get to like for me one of the highlights of the book. And i know it's going to sound lane that the highlights are always spiderman swinging around the city. But this one. I thought was really cool. The way the page transitioned 'cause you see spider-man kind of like like upside down but like you think right side up until you realize the whole background is slipped and so the pages like the birds are flying around the bottom of the page. I mean this is the kind of thing of like someone who's really having fun. Would with the artem this book. That's an awesome uptight down. Page from vincent teeny and is the kind of thing. Frankly you wish you saw more in a book about a guy who can swing himself upside down around cities and stuff like that. So that was a nice visual surprise to dec- and good narration. From peter it was certainly a fun. Way to transition into the book with spiderman. I mean you know again. Going back to what i'm saying at the beginning. I mean my complaint. Is i mean. We're what two thirds through this comic and he's just showing up and like you know we didn't even get like any kind of glorified like one. You know the the token one page intro earlier in the book where spiderman is like. We gotta find. I gotta find randy or something you know what i mean i gotta find boomerang know then like cut to all this other story. I mean like it literally just felt like oh right. We're in a man book and now here it just. It was just so kind of random that he finally decided to show up. But you're right very fun. Visually you know the next the preceding few pages of the big fight. I mean this is. This was top notch stuff from venture teeny you know page by page. Here i mean like this a lot to love from a visual standpoint. Yeah in before that. We've got like spiderman talking to jameson. Who's watching through the new costume and is relishing ha is it's robbie who has to be saved which i guess is in character for jameson. I don't think i've ever seen him like wish. Harm necessarily on robbie i guess there is jealousy as reached that point other james and certainly not one to shy away from lake potentially inflicting harm on those. We consider his rivals in some regard to me. This is just another lake. Ellipses on the potential drama being mined from the spiderman costume which like still felt kind of weird to have introduced in sixty one and kind of not do much with. I'll get into some theories. I have about it later on in the issue because i do think that where we're headed. This is going to play a big role. But you're right so that we turn the page and tombstone has a card up his sleeve and he calls in the syndicate to save them from that a mask and you get this like you said..

On top of that. We have a little kindred centipede crawling out of otto zero. So like you know. And it's whispering things to him and it's like basically. It's it's were as i said at the beginning of the episode here. Dan were were going back to. Kindred kindred is being linked every single important thing in this run. And i just i just don't know why like we have to just make everything about kindred like you know like to me just doesn't work anymore like again. I hate to repeat myself. But as i said earlier you had your shot to make me about kindred and you missed completely. You missed you you you mr shop like trying to now bring in classic characters you know auto. I'm assuming others in the sinister six. They're going to somehow be getting manipulated by kindred like it. You just wasting your time. I don't care like this. This is just adding hype to something that you frankly hyped up. And then flopped on. So what what could you possibly due to redeem this character at this point in a way were all of a sudden. I'm really gonna like buy into the the importance and stakes of this character. I feel similarly but with a little bit of different. Because like i thinking back on post last remains. I enjoyed that. One issue where it was like peter talking to 'em jay and we saw kindred and the one where peter goes to confront liz and they find the goblin stuff and harry's closet like those additional wrinkles to the kindred mystery. I was really interested in because they seemed related to the information that we already had this to me feels like a continued expansion on that into a whole other realm that i'm like i don't know that i want to see this story expanded again. I just wanna see a conclusion to this story. You know maybe it was there all along in that image that we saw. I don't know what the implication of this mirrored pages does it mean that the kindred saw tearing up graves before was actually kindred tearing upgrades and this auto doing something similarly does it mean that when we saw that image before it was like a dream of but it was actually auto and realized doing that. I'm not really sure what what it means. I will say. I think i had a different interpretation of the very end of it is i. Don't think the kindred is in autos head yet he gets in it at the end of the issue. I think it's the senate crawling into his ear. Then that leads me to wonder what brought auto to that grave and like it says auto. He says out loud that he was guided there by gaps in his memory which would the gaps superior spiderman. So is he going to his own grave and kindred knew that he would be looking there and set a trap for him that that would be very curious to me. You know is it. Is it the grave of harry osborn with the fake body that was described by mysterious back and we learned about like the first time we learned about harry osborn going to europe faking his death. I don't know what would draw. Auto to harry osborn grave. I don't know those characters have much in common with each other. Except for maybe like their connection to the stacy's in some way in the auto killed captain stacy and like harry is good friends with gwen. Seems to be fueling some aspect of the kindred thing but that's such a reach..

Advice on Supporting a Grieving Parent

"Hey dr death. My someday to be mother-in-law has lost her son to suicide. He just had a baby and was planning a wedding. The baby mama is very cold and distant to her since the beginning of the relationship. My mother-in-law someone who spreads the gospel help strangers in loves everyone even through her own depression recently. My boyfriend and i witnessed her have a breakdown. She became the opposite of who she is threatened to take her own life. We'd never seen her get to this point before this is a pain. I can't imagine. And i feel lost on how to be there for her. How can i be a better support for her. He has thank you for creating the podcast. And you're fucked depression book. You've helped me visualize struggles in a different light. They'll eat better days. Will you very welcome for that and to the question how what a tough situation man. That's that's brutal in hard and sad and my condolences to your whole family. It sounds like from the outside perspective. This sort of came out of nowhere. You talked about all this other things that were going on and then suddenly this happened and that's one of the things about depression and suicide -ality. I've actually talked about this a lot with people recently. Which is You know deep depression and suicide alley. They they're like a parasite. I kind of think of them This is somewhat silly. I suppose but i kind of think of them like the if you're familiar with a spider man envenom. The bad guy in spider man venom has like this black suit. And it's a it's what's called a syndicate and it's like a alien sludge that like latches onto a person is essentially a you know kind of like a parasite in so that's kinda how i picture depression and suicidality. It's like this black sludgy parasite and when you try to Bring it out into the light. It acts up flares up in tries to hide itself. And so i've been talking about that a lot with people recently how You know these symptoms and issues. Try to hide themselves. They try to stay away from other people. Because you may have thoughts that you know you recognize our illogical or not helpful you know harmful in some sort of way but you don't share them with other people because your depression tells you to keep them private once it starts to get threatened. It closes down it. Gets you know more isolating and so you end up suffering through through these things alone and suicide risk becomes much greater when it suffered in
