"You are listening to gangland wire hosted by former Kansas City police intelligence unit. Detective Gary worked out. They're coming here from the Gangland Wire Studio. I am just fresh off my Kansas City Mafia film festival with my good friend. Terrence o'malley did the kind of overview of all Kansas City organized crime. Black Hand Straw man. We showed my movie gangland. Wire we also showed my brand name with brothers against brothers That's the story of the Savelli Spiro. Getting more than the Kansas City in the nineteen seventies. And don't forget to hit me up on Vinho. Oh I had a request on Bimbo from one of our fans Mareo Sir Ninety. I hope I got that right Mareo. I know you don't pronounce the G. The Mostly in Italian last name but anyhow and here's what he says. My wife makes me walk the dog every day. Your podcast provides a wonderful distraction and names and memories of the old days in my mom's kitchen near Bellmont Harlem that'd leave Chicago. And and he had requests you know. He made a donation large enough us on the Bimbo APP that he should get a gang landmark movie which is what I usually male that out. But he asked if he could get a kindle version of the book And so I looked into that I could do that. So if you WANNA make a donation of twenty five dollars or more and get a kindle version of the book I can I can send can you link for that That thing if you have kindle you can just download to your computer a the kindle software from Amazon and read it on kindle which. Let's remember in my book leaving Vegas if you want to hear the actual wiretaps you just get that kindle version. Each time I referred to wiretap and have a text from the wiretap. There's a link there it'll take you right to the actual wiretap itself so moving right along. The with. The new movie is what I really WanNa talk about today. Being brothers against brothers. The story of this umbrella sparrow war in Kansas City city. You know this I worked this I was on the street in and one of my earlier. Pot Real early. podcast episodes. I deal with this and and in the making hiking this movie. I'm GonNa tell you a little bit about the making this mummy. I stumbled onto a guy. A guy named Steve Saint John that That actually worked a case on and A He's a local Kansas City guy and grew up there on these guys and and so we started meeting for coffee. And we're still meeting for coffee or breakfast periodical. And he was huge helping making that movie. He found Tony. My I needed a stripper Needing in one scene I needed to turn a club ahead the club. It's kind of a local. Oh sports bar ran by a friend of mine. Kelly's in Westport and he donated the bar. He said we can use bar. I needed a stripper and I had a couple of other retired police women who would come in but they wouldn't quite do the whole stripper thing that I wanted a Nina. The scene where a stripper goes up to an undercover undercover cop sitting at the bar and tries to get him to buy a lap dance and and he's all uncomfortable won't do it so she realizes she figures out. These two guys guys are cops and she knows who they're probably watching and that was Karl Spiro. One in the participants in this gang war so she goes over and tells cost barrel and these guys phone you you and tells everybody else in the bar and got a little bit uncomfortable for them they would hit and got out that day that evening and tell another story in there about how Since Karl Spiro knew we were founding and we're finding more strip club Cuello bitten. Sometimes we'd go in. He got he got hold of the guy who was acting informed of mine line who had a tow truck and said hey ten bronco out in the parking lot look that up and and carry that off somewhere not taking off your hands later and in this guy. He didn't do it. He knew there was something. Something wasn't quite right about that. Request turns out. That was our Dan Bronco and so I go into a a lot of details like that and a lot. More details like that about the investigation. Pollen Carl's Perot Round and trying to keep some of the Savelli family from killing him and almost mm-hmm was catching them in the act. And I've dealt with some of those things and in different episodes but in this movie I put it all together and we got some really cool reenactment scenes that that show a lot of that. Got Some of the guys at work on that and and I guess really one thing I wanna go into for. This'll be his announcement of the movie. Brothers against brothers. It's out there on. Amazon is just like England. Why are you can digitally download it for a dollar ninety nine? And I haven't request of you guys As many of us his can if I can get a thousand that'd be didn't go in there and and rent that thing for outer ninety nine the first week or so it's outweigh. It will aunt me way the APP and in their algorithms and given a lot more prominence in and they'll start notified other people that hey there's a movie moving here if you like this then you'll like this other movies and it'll just. It'll help me mentally and and I would appreciate that. That's a real easy way to support the PODCAST and I'll make a little bit of money off that too of course but it's it's a real good way to support the podcast. And what helped me much more than a dollar ninety nine that you spend on the moving moving and you'll get to see the movie and see my my latest movie that I really hardness guy to help me with reenactment scenes and heard the professional has no narrator and they did a great job and an undercover uncovered kind of attain. This story and a lot more than I do in the movie I uncovered a a whole situation. I had forgotten about back in those days. I was part of it but somehow not in the main part of it so I kind of I forgot about it I was always. On the periphery but we had done in. Nineteen eighty one eighty three. There is a guy my name John Long who was a professional booster and he was in jail for some heavy stuff he needed. He needed big time helping one of the guys in in not lying when a sister Dar's called white collar crime went to the jail and talk to John Said Hey we can. We can do something for you. But you gotta do a Lotta Steph rest because this is pretty heavy work that you pretty heavy sentence that you're looking at here whenever it was four. Probably just repeated That he probably had the three strikes thing against him. Earned habitual where we had a habitual law in Missouri at the time and he ended up with them some big time John had gotten a little bit older and he was not where he wanted to do all that time and so he agreed that he would and he was. He was such a prolific booster. And so well known that he knew all the mob guys bought who who were fences and then turned around and consoling out through their outlets and broker different deals. And and all these raw mob associates remain guys meant when he can he can do. He can do those guys. But we had to have complete control of him and and we couldn't get anybody that the prosecutor judge judge and They were not just let him out when he huge bond and and we weren't gonNA post you know you'd have to get ten percent. Were we were GONNA post like a fifty thousand dollars and get him out on this five hundred thousand dollar bond with some really high amount. They never really did not want to let this guy out in jail. So worked at agreement has had to take part in the upper upper management and had to be the chief end to be involved with this as chief of police in and probably the main elected prosecutor because they had the charge on him here in Jackson County. They agreed We promise the police department promised that he would be just like he was in jail. We would never let him out of our sight in but we can get him out of jail and he can go out and work everyday. And that's that's where came in Part of my job was I'd go there lagging and eleven o'clock at night and take over from the shift. Shall we say the three to eleven four to midnight. I can't remember the exact time and and I would work. Say Midnight to eight and in the day shift is they're coming in at eight o'clock and and this guy just going the other room and sleep of Courson and we're supposed to stay up all night and it's kind of hard to do you you drift off in and out. But he He never snuck out on us. I'm sure that there was many times he'd probably could have. We'd sit around and play Dominos and cars and whatever we can think of all night long. We got a house donated donated to us by the command. Our commander had a brother who was a real estate agent and he'd donate donated his house and actually sold the first house house out from under it which is pretty nice his house and moved him to the real crappy Laos over the middle of ghetto. It was he was a dangerous neighborhood. And it was a crappy cold drafty little taking house but But it was the best we can do. The first house was actually kind of Nice. I remember that and We had one of those gas birthplaces. And we'd run that thing all night long. Did that about about a week or two. I think about two weeks and ever seen by running that thing all night long and they got the first gas bill. We had to shut the gas fireplace off after that. But you did stuff like I bought my car garage and waxed it one night to find right Centene to do to try to stay up and kill time all night long in the morning and go out and we. We borrowed a state trooper named Tom. I'm great who had been stationed somewhere else in. The state was not from Kansas and he so he was he was unknown. He was totally unknown in Kansas City. Brought him in and he met up with John and he would come by the Morton picked John Up and then they'd go out and and what they were doing. They started out with a reverse sting thing in trying to get in with people they would go out and buy like a brand new clothes and then take them to a couple of different bars. The bartender had connections to to buy stuff and had new other. People he can turn around Self Steph. Do we mob connected bars when just how they got him with Karl Spiro And then there was another Vince named junior Bradley. That big John Always dealt with for a long time and he bought anything anything that you could buy a lack of a drugstore for example and he had a retail outlet down the city market in which he'd sell the stuff he went latte from about twenty five cents on the dollar and they turn around and sell it for about eighty percent of the face value. Whatever the tag was on a cut it by twenty the twenty twenty-five percent and sell out and the city market juniors place to send him mark plus he he had a restaurant downtown? You know he knows have never stepped there and in the regular customers Radhi was. I've talked about him longtime and you'll I really need to do a story on him. He was an interesting guy. Was the nicest guy on world everybody. You never met somebody. That didn't like junior Bradley. But he was Tony connected with the casinos primarily And he was was having talion himself and men doing this gun and fencing activity since he was a young man he had a a small neighborhood. Store out. What would you've been the suburbs in the fifty s and he always had a back room is filled with step and all the people who came in there? And do that. You know if you needed something that was a good deal on it. Then my implant fell off the trucks. You always say you go into juniors and see if he had something like that and we didn't he'd probably take an order get it for you. So and he just had connections Zimmer because he was he was a nice guide so it went up on junior John's going in and out of there. It was the first one is for Karl Spiro. John's going in and out of there and and one of the early stories and I got going put a well. MacAulay NAGRA tape record. That's a real high end Cincinnati german-made women made tape recorder this real thin. This is before the digitalization of Eric thing today now you can get a great audio from just having cellphone his pocket can turn on the voicemail but but then we had to use something like this and the day gone thing an Enron taping. 'cause you tape it right up against the guy's body and I just didn't whoever did it test one time didn't do very good slipped out and started down his pant leg and he can feel it going going down he's battling and and he's talking to junior with his neighbors the next there's this talk and went jr junior's real chatty and there's this chat and way a and the thing gets down to his pant leg and the end junior finally turns and does something else and the guy just kind of like lifts up his his his foot a little bit and slips on onto the Thornton and he had like sized will feed huge guy and he's put his foot down on top stop by junior turned around and started talking to them again and they just had to keep talking keep talking until junior turn away enough to that big John..

So we talk about peace making in the culture around you that we're not meant to be people who are saved and then put on a show, but we are meant to bring peace to the world around us because if you watch the news, it's depressing. It's awful as depressing it's divided. And most often we talk at Sparrow about the divide between ethnicities, and what is God's heart for that. And how do we be reconciled to God, I reconciled to one another and his heart. Russ is to make peace in the world. He brings peace therefore through us. He continues to bring peace as we share the gospel. And as we fight for reconciliation with one another, and so we're gonna produce free sources based on truth and culture. They will ever bring back. If I know what's good for them. Bad business stories, continue prima games. The makers find strategy guides shutting down. That's a bummer. Been around since I believe ninety one. They lasted way longer than ever like, and they are pretty candid actually this. This was not public. This came for me memo that the CEO of the company who is their parent company employees. So this was not a public announcement. But the mimic got out there during a year long extensive review. Many new ways were explored to diversify prima games publishing. However, the dynamics for us of this fast paced landscape, have continued to prove difficult this enormously dedicated team has made every effort to turn the business around but challenging market conditions. Have unfortunately worked against them. Yeah. It's called the internet the internet. Yeah. Yeah. Like, you said it's kind of amazing that they made it as long as they. I'm surprised. Yeah. But they really did like a try to turn things around like, you know, they're they're tragic turned into art books degree, you know, they made them all digital. And they made it as easy as possible for people. It's like they tried to absence stuff too. Didn't they like? Stuff like scan this QR code or whatever, I guess you can't they didn't try absolutely try. I'd like to their efforts for sure it's just it's got to be impossible to compete with the, you know. The combination of read it and game facts and just like you two videos under the sun zillion freeways. There are out there to get information on solving games. Totally solve this game. Influential important guides. I didn't do a lot of guys ever like collected a lot of them. I think but there was just due to my jobs. I guess like I got a bunch from game. Stop and blockbuster when I worked there. So I started to say I think I had a copy of the players guide, which we've talked about that dick black book. But I don't even know if I owned two that I might have read the friends copy. I had never never was big on physical. Street fighter ones because especially the broke down like frame by frame certain things like it was an art book me. Especially especially back before the internet information. Ubiquitous stuff was a big deal. But I loved my quest sixty four prima guy. It was my bible like nine through eleven. Okay. Tell me. Quest sixty four the winds bells because look like a little sonic booms. Are we going to have to play some sixty four? I would love to play that fucking terrible game. I knew at the time it was bad budget as far as end sixty four RPG's lint didn't have. On their turns out, I own both US and Japanese copies of the bouncer and tasks can play them side by side. We have we have enough games here. Queued up in the oh, I swear they were good category. This was good is the thing the smells like series, the bouncers I'll have to. I mean, I gotta dig through those boxes of my garage for a couple of other things. I really I really thought that jacket was cool when I was a kid. Oh shit see on bar Saad. I don't know what their mind, I don't want. There's a donkey kick in that game. That's pretty good car those games organized in a way that you I'm guessing the answer. This is no that you can like what you want and sort of Chad quickly. Go find it like, oh the order. They are in their by platform. Okay. But that's it and a loose alphabetical order because they were on shelves now out of order, but they have been shoved into those boxes. So some parts of it or alphabetized, but. No. I the answer is no I just feel like the endgame of having a digital database of everything you own is to put it in that order. Right. I mean some way that you can just like I could put a custom field in my database that says this is in box seven and just make sure it stays in that box. That would probably be the easiest way to do it without just alphabetizing them because I don't want to move like, okay. These boxer stuff full..

"I like that as this she goes i lay down all right i wonder if they're going to to do that in this and they did they did you know they didn't do it like the particle affleck's like they did here they actually use of fire which is how she dies and it wasn't like an evaporation thing or buy it is kinda went away in this but she kind of had that same thing is like you son of a bitch how dare you light the ahead of things like all right y'all did that well against them he was a straight from the end of may and you did a good job with that so i can't really be upset or or or perturb did that uh what else even know and i told us the komen the other day because though we went and saw that red spero movie thursday whenever was the jay law movie and uh was about the full metal movie and he was like what do you think about it as a man it's not the best especially when it comes to certain things and one of the certain things i talk about was the cgi and this this cg eyes rough man this business this is like remove let cgi is bad is this is to a quote charles barkley terrible the cd i in here it really could have used a another pass especially when it came to the fight scenes because a lot of stuff was happening in a supposed to look cool and then the enemy it looks amazing because again it's animated in their lead the they can do a lot more with movement and things but here obviously they have much more of a budget and they spent other cgi money on alpha han so there was nothing left but like you have stuff right here with the priest creating i'll go back to that the priest crowe creating things out of the dirt and out of the surrounding buildings that really doesn't look great you have moments in here where things like this it looks really goofy that one i really didn't mind but there's there's a bunch of things in here where the cgi is it's really bad and our it's is somewhat of a doubleedged sword i will still give credit to the cgi in this movie.
