Space Station Gets New Solar Arrays in Spacewalk
"Of giving their home a power upgrade two astronauts on the international space station or putting on their walking boots this morning, American Shane Kimbrough and French astronaut Thomas Biscay will install the first of two brand new solar rays during a plan 6.5 hour spacewalk. The arrays roll out Kind of like a carpet. They arrive packed away in canisters aboard a SpaceX dragon just a few weeks ago, they're much smaller than the station's current set of a raise. But new technology makes these more powerful and more efficient astronauts installed the first of the old ones 20 years ago. Another spacewalk Sunday as planned to install the second new array, with four more to come during the next three years.

New Doorway to Space with Airlock on ISS
"The doorways on the international space station of work just fine for the past twenty years but as more researchers expand the scope and size of their projects a larger doorway could open up space. This is a special series of innovation now. Celebrating twenty years of continuous human presence on the international space station to harp. Relieve the bottleneck. That sometimes happens on the international space station. As satellites experiments and larger payloads are received nanno racks. llc has built a new and different kind of doorway into space. The private company created the nanno racks bishop airlock module. That will serve as another door to the space station. The new airlock delivered on a spacex dragon. Resupply services mission is the first commercial. Airlock added to the station. This ship will provide five times. The capacity of the stations other operational air locks allowing for larger payloads to be moved inside and outside the station. NASA Astronauts Splash Down in SpaceX Dragon Capsule, Capping Historic Mission
"Three. It's a home sweet home for NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Robert Bank in after their space X crew Dragon capsule made a successful splashdown landing and the Gulf of Mexico Sunday asked afternoon Thie astronauts returned Earth from the international space station was historic first. Marking the success of the first commercial crew flight test. NASA hopes that the successful mission means that the United States will no longer have to hitch a ride with the Russia with Russia to the international space station, Dan Did you watch this? Not the landing per se, but least the takeoff. Where was that? A month ago? Yeah, that was one of the coolest thing about that was watching. The miles per hour on the side of the screen, and it just getting into the the thousands. That's crazy. You don't see that very often. I don't know about you, but I sure I sure as heck I've never seen that

"Paul writes likewise, the spirit also help with our infirmities. For we know not. What we should pray for as we ought but the spirit itself make intercession for us with groening's which cannot be uttered and he that searches the hearts and Noah what is the mind of the spirit because he make intercession for the saints according to the will of God So the Holy Spirit. Is Interceding for us and then you jump down to verse thirty four in Romans Eight. What does Paul say? Who is he that condemn? It is Christ that died. Yea. Rather that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God who also Maketh Intercession? For us. So Christ is also interceding for us. And if you know your Bible, you're already thinking wait a minute. What about what about Hebrew seven and yes, you're right. Hebrew seven, twenty five. wherefore. He is able to also to save them to the uppermost that come under God by him. That's the Lord. Jesus seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. And then also even speaking about. Interceding for us when we sin. I John Two one says my little children these things right I unto you east not, and if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father Jesus Christ the righteous. So. Don't give up in prayer because the Holy Spirit is interceding he's praying for you. Jesus is praying for you. Let me give you a little illustration of what that can be like especially when we're fatigued like this. Yesterday I watched as the two astronauts splashdown in the SPACEX dragon capsule. When they finally got to open the hatch and bring them out. Of course, because they've been in space for two months. Being back in a gravity environment. They would lack the strength get out I mean they probably could, but they'd be exhausted trying to do it so. What they do is they have these engineers. And in medical team, they go in to the capsule and then they carry the guys out, put him on a stretcher literally so that they can go just a few feet into the medical quarters that were on the boat just so they can get all their physical checks and all that but it was even though it was only a distant a few feet they carry them out of the capsule, put him on a stretcher and carried them into these quarters to save them from having to do all that. It. Wasn't because the astronauts were lazy. It wasn't because they were like, Hey, you know what? I've already had a long hard day. I've just spent nineteen hours in this thing twenty hours. I'm done you do it. It wasn't that they were being lazy. It's just they didn't lack. They didn't have the strength. So you see these caretakers I. Don't know what you call them, but carry them out and put them on the stretcher well in the same way. When we are before the Lord and when we lack the strength. And we said Lord I'm just exhausted today while the Lord He is Merciful. Gracious and he carries us the Lord carries us as it were like those astronauts he carries us out and he gets us kind of up and going. And so he's very merciful in that. But I would also say, don't give up in prayer. Don't give up too soon in prayer. You know it's so it's one thing. That were so tempted to do. Often I know I am is give up in prayer. Listen to these words from Isaiah forty. I'll.

"With lots of metrics Bob Zimmerman keeps the website behind the black we begin with the great success of the teens were now in the twenties the team's success in space for surprises SpaceX and the books will be written on coming centuries about how capitalism as Bob argues capitalism in space transform the prospects for manned space as well as for robot because of Ilan mosque SpaceX and the success of taking an old old ideas such as reusable and putting them into practice to cut costs therein lies the tail Bob very good evening to you we begin the year with SpaceX because it's very active and NASA the big space program of the twentieth century's depending upon what can you tell us about dragon good evening to you good evening hello this is not about dragon this is the star of the lone season for the twenty twenty you know we gave the compilation fat what a beating happened last year and what to expect Bahia and SpaceX started off the launch the one trace this year with the first launch of the year this week putting up sixty starling small sets these are SpaceX's attempt to build a a constellation of satellites numbering in the thousands that will provide worldwide internet access to anybody at low cost and in fact these sick and was successful launch of with these sixty satellites SpaceX has very quickly in less than seven months leap frog every other communication satellite companies and now has the largest consolation and all of that up a hundred eighty satellites out there that's not even close to that total they're not ready yet to give commercial service but that's it sometime before this year is out I think they're going to stop offering worldwide internet commercial service at reasonable cost now the launch was interesting you mention reusability John and that's what's the big deal they the first stage on this particular launch was making its fourth light what's really interesting is that is the second first stage that SpaceX has that is completed for flights that means SpaceX has been able to launch eight times with only two four stages the amount of savings involved here in money for them and for their customers if I can't now since they don't really reduce the price that much for other customers on because this is that they don't have to no one else can compete with them when they get a lot bigger profit please log book for their own constellation stalling what this means is that they can put that cancellation up for much less than any other satellite company which means when they do offer commercial sessions that's the deck are probably able to because everybody else in the world so that's a big deal and that that just stop the space I expect to be making launches on a very regular basis for the rest I mentioned Bob dragon because it leads your column and we have a dragon returned to earth today so we should talk that in because his dragon capsule is part of the dependency that NASA is now to build up our SpaceX I wonder Bob if NASA realizes it's now a part of a any of a power house some economic powerhouse and in fact it it NASA becomes a subset of that power house that lady yet the more they depend upon SpaceX's services that's the way it should be there they they have this they'll government agency the other servant to the people they don't we don't work for them they work for us so that what the government should be doing is providing things the government needs but use the public the government the private companies and private individuals to provide them the service they should be the customer not the product and so in this case yes they six sets of the dragon capsule December the cargo capsule and bought a whole bunch of supply is reported back and the supplies it brought back included forty mice some of which had been genetically modified to become mighty mice to see how they would respond to weightlessness and they also brought back some space baked cookies they have an oven that had to put on they sat on the I SS and they're testing the using cookie special cookie dough to see if you can cook cookies and space in this hotel billion in certain commercial advertising thing going on there but in the end you can ask a crew in space to really make it possible for people to live there so this is part of that technology China the competitor was SpaceX and everyone else Nash internationally commercially launched a military satellite with the long March three B. rocket is this someone Bob at that it sends its first stage back down on the villages and sets them on fire yeah yeah yeah sit there this is launched from an interior space port so the first stages and these strap ons that a part of it fall down on what is it what's the insurance industry in China I mean I mean and self insure this is not this is not a grown up culture you can launch into space and then just by by the way look out below yeah that's a surgery it I mean they are not pointing now with reusability and ways to give these control the return of the first stages so that when it comes back they have a better idea where it's going to crash and that make then they they basically stealing once again the technologies of salt but that's okay they need to do this this once we don't know much about them selling techno nothing satellite to military satellite the long March three B. is this second most powerful rocket behind the long March five and you know this now put SpaceX and China in a one one hi for the log trace and I fully expect we're going to see a naked and Bob I think there should be an Asterix after the long March three B. launches really this is not a success to drop of first aid John a population that's defenseless you know my focus here that people tell me I should include family is in my lingerie yeah I know who it was although people give me a lot of suggestions Mike my life a criteria is I wanna law I'm I'm measuring V. S. ability of nations and and companies to put payloads into space and granted it's a measure of the year if they're crashing but we make sure we mention these things but this is still indicate indicative of China's ability hi Bob this is not manger to it's just to read or write about China okay SpaceX dropped the first stage on Brownsville Texas that would be the end of SpaceX that what it would be over there they do not the part of a they did drop when they do that stuff that saw ship engine pressure test they did drop the tank five hundred feet into the air and then on to the Boca chica did hurt anybody that was that okay Bobbi take my point that and I know I yes that this Chinese space industry cuts corners and in general I want to mention because I've been reading about China's twenty twenty five ambition China is gone for speed Bob not for quality what's been developed in and commercial capitalists cultures is craftsmanship a compassion and combustion engine or rocket engine requires generations of education you don't do it from blue prints you stole forty weeks ago and therefore the China doesn't master the combustion engine there's no reason to presume that they can master rocket engines as well they're imitating Bob and dropping a first stage on the defense's population is a failure of imitation not a success what did I get the screen now I know we agree on this so we'll move on to the next matter which is positive firefly there's a commercial success what is it Bob well it was a success yet let's be careful here you know we talk about this is one of those many small sat rocket companies that are trying to get into space to compete with everybody else for putting these many small sat satellites up and all but that there is a need for more services and firefly is one of those companies that actually has risen from the dead they had declared bankruptcy and they went out of business and then they got an investor from the Ukraine begin at the bottom the card that could bankrupt company and resurrected and so they have been moving forward aggressively to launch their first orbital rocket called the alpha rocket they are really going to do it in December of nineteen a delayed until March of dying of twenty and I reporter up behind the black today that due to a number of engineering issues they have pushed back that launch on month to April twenty twenty get all delays like this are not unreasonable until they start to stretch out week year plus and then you then then which is seen as probable Sirius engineering if they can't solve so we don't have that yet they have to launch before we can called them a success let's keep our fingers crossed that they do so he if they do they'll be putting up a rocket kind of comparable to space exes spell can warn that SpaceX abandoned the back in the early all laid off because the time there wasn't a market for small rocket like that that's not the case today we have medical concerns in space in the future you need to be able to take care of human beings if we're going to have successful man returned to orbit a let alone the planets and Bob as of at a compelling story here about a blood clot what happened well we don't really estimate is which is because of privacy medical privacy but there was a science paper published about an astronaut who was on I SS during the six month mission during the mission that astronaut developed a blood clot they do regulate what part of the medical research they do regular ultrasound experiments of the astronauts jugular veins and they're in the process they discovered there was a obstruction which was a blood clot and so they use it with that information and then proceeded to with help from the ground sign the doctors on the ground and using the equipment on I SS to to take medicine to treat the blood clot because they don't want this to travel into the bloodstream and cause you know strokes and all the problems and they they had medicine on board that could be injected in the side of the astronaut began treatment with that medicine and HA they they had a high dose initially then reduced after thirty three days so that would last until they could send more anti collide you ends up into the station and the size of the plot read shrank and blood flow was good and then he came back to earth and upon returning to the Chinese media reports of that country's vice premier might shorten his planned visit to Washington for trade talks. If he comes at all the South China Morning post reports that vice-premier Leo who could still travel to this country this week for trade talks, but a shorter visit than he had planned previously. This because President Trump tweeted yesterday, he plans to increase tariffs on two hundred billion dollars in Chinese products Friday and soon slap tariffs on billions more. Let's go to our KOMO Newsline. Karen Travers is with us from the White House. Karen was this tweet by the president surprise yesterday? It was I have to say that the president has threatened these types of tariffs before or threaten to really escalate things with China. But we're looking at this as perhaps the president trying to jump start talks. He clearly is frustrated that these are taking longer than he'd like there are talks plan as you just mentioned. But remember the deadline for this was March first there was also a deadline of January first where the president said he would put new tariffs on. If there hadn't been an agreement. So this keeps sliding and right now, it doesn't seem like they're any closer to the long-term deal that the president wants also the president had great jobs numbers on Friday. He says the economy is humming along. So he's seems like he's ready to play hardball. The focus is going to be on the sports today at the White House. I understand you got a couple events here today. What was he talking about yesterday on Twitter president making it crystal clear, he does not want to see Robert Mueller, testified before congress Democrats are still in negotiations to try and nail down a time where the special counsel come up and take questions they'd like to see that happen next week. President had said Friday he didn't. No. If he wanted to see Muller testifies, and it was up to the attorney general now, he's saying, Nope. No more can he stopped Muller from doing that as Muller still a government employee. He is at the moment, but not for long. Alright. Karen, thanks very much. ABC news. Much of Venezuela is in darkness after one of the biggest power outages year in years hit Caracas at rush hour. Embattled President Nicolas Maduro blamed the US, but offer no proof. Richard cantu. ABC news right now to the diamonds. Direct live line. We go Jonathan Hoenig from capitalist pig. Dot com joins us, and you keep an eye on Lordstown with that GM plant shutdown. Yeah, we're not in love with the cruise anymore. And that's one of the reasons to morning, Joe crates view, it's a it's a sad day. After fifty years is a very large General Motors plant as we talked about in Youngstown, Ohio will be shut in primarily because of the crew's really wants one of the more popular. Well, received cutback cars they've been making it in Lawrence township in Lordstown, excuse me since two thousand eleven but essentially the public now is opting for more trucks more larger SUV's so that six point two million square foot plant Joe will be idle beginning today effect, they're gonna they're gonna make some parts stamping small parts through the end of March. But most of the plane, we'll idle and essentially the company is placing the plant in what they call a state of readiness. So it'll be able to be essentially turned back on player. But after fifty years, some changes that that that very. Large GM plant right here in Ohio. I don't know car production inside and out. But I think some of the other plants maybe Hond up in Marysville. You know, they're able to shift like if they need to make parts for other cars do different things they can do that. I wonder if that might be a part of the plan moving forward for GM where they're a little more fleet of foot a little more versatile in what they stamp. I have to imagine just think back to before the financial crisis in the early part of the two thousand you know, we used to see a Hummer is everywhere that was the car that everyone was driving around. And then as gas prices rose for most of the early part of the twentieth. Twenty-first century people opted for smaller cars, we've seen that creme reverse in my guess is we'll likely see reverse again. So don't count out to auto production in Ohio by any means don't count out that that plan either. Whether it's jam or another manufacturer my sense is given the trend building in Ohio. These days. It's like the to get sooner than later. I got you. I saw a little blurb about a story a top five cities for Americans. Earning fifty thousand dollars two of them are here in Ohio. Is that just mean that you can kind of be okay working right in the middle of the middle. The economy. We talked about on a steady path courts recovery. It has been so for quite some time. But you know, states in so many cities are just so high tax that even people making fifty sixty seventy thousand dollars a year. Can't get by go Bank rates dot com. Did a survey they took a look at a lot of a major metropolitan major metropolitan areas to get a sense of where that fifty thousand can really get you the most and as you said to the top five or top five, Memphis, El Paso Hosa. And then Toledo and Cleveland, Ohio. Rounding out the top five, you know, again, kind of slowing the slow but steady wins the race attitude. Continuing to prevail in the mid western Ohio particular the economy continues to thrive even under the radar of a lot of the coastal coastal cities and coastal states that must have to do with lower. Renton home owning prices and things like that. Exactly. I mean and the median rent in Cleveland, Ohio is about eight hundred and eighty seven dollars a month. Transportation costs only about fifty dollars a month. And of course, if you go into any of the major cities that whether it be the reds, the taxes, the transportation costs can all be double that. Or more. I gotcha. Our guest is Jonathan Hoenig. You can follow him at capitalist pig dot com. Did little blurb about a half hour ago? Maybe a little less. I can't remember exactly, but trade deficits for the country. And specifically, you know, with China, my sense was that Donald Trump was working hard on all that kind of stuff. But those numbers are up up up up. Yes. That was one of the reasons that we kind of got into this tweet ward it's been for well over a year. Now, you know, American consumers if billions and billions of dollars in tariffs and taxes, and one of the reasons show was supposedly equalize that trade deficit, essentially how much goods we buy from China as again, how many goods they buy from us. Well that deficit which the president had after wanted to a narrow is widened. It's actually at the highest point in years. A big part of it yours because of the strength of the dollar the dollar go further by more good. Goods from China. Good for the US. So you talk about politics don't lose the fact that trade is always win win. And, you know, whether it's you know, it's like your your your your iphone or even a gift for your kid Americans buy goods from China because it benefits American. That's why we do it. And that's why the trade situation can be half of mine. Go for so many CEO's waiting hoping they'll be get some announcement could be today could be innovative tomorrow that the trade wars finally resolved. Yeah. It just it just seems to fly in the face of what you hear though, because you know, things coming from China. There's the the tariff on it. You know, twenty percent whatever it is. So it should cost more. We shouldn't be spending more with them. Should we? Well, it's true. In many things are costing more. We talked to great lengths about steel about washing machines, for example of had a massive cost in price at the same time, the value of the dollar has gone up. So that neck the overall value of the goods Americans are buying from China is is is rising as well. Hardly, which she don't worry Americans opinion is the trade deficit, but the budget deficit that's what the guys in Washington DC are spending back what we need to keep an eye on. We've talked about debt rising and everything from consumer loans auto loans student loans. It's also rising in Washington on Capitol Hill. That's exactly where I think the market is going to be focused for a big part of the second half twenty nine hundred eighty I can't argue with you. But again when you talk to people about that about debt, especially on the government level. It's like, well, we owe it to ourselves. So it doesn't really matter. You talk to people that are in student debt. There's rooting for Bernie Sanders make everything free. I just that's one of those things I hear it. It makes me nervous. I try really hard to get out of debt a void edify can. But there's a lot of people entities. From high ranking the low ranking this country that just don't seem to get too worked up about debt. It's so true. You know, and even on the Republican party that used to be concerned about the growing deficit. They're going that eventually those bills to be paid back. Whether they're paid back by higher taxes on us working now or on higher taxes, lower benefits and increased inflation and are those who come behind us. Those bills has to be paid back. It'll be can look to any. A number of examples right history of just what happens to a society. What happen with Connie? When it's overwhelmed with debt, the result is not pretty, and that's what a lot of kind of say, we're teetering on the edge of here in the United States. Joel it'd be an interesting year.
