Congressman Greg Steube Talks About His Recent Fall

"Let's bring this up because I mean, one of the things that I'm going to get a lot of folks and I've got calls when I first happened, your accident and everything. I saw some great stuff here online recently about the gentleman who stopped and helped you. As much as you want to. Share a little bit with the podcast listeners who may have heard about it, but they're still hadn't heard a whole lot completed. What was actually happening, how did this guy and especially this tale of people helping people, I think, you know, look, we all have access. We all follow. We do, but that idea that somebody would come along and help is just pretty amazing. Yeah, and you really have to back up. I mean, if you're not a believer in God, you will be after hearing the story. And if you are a person of faith, it'll completely renew your faith. So the gentleman's name is woody that it's Daryl woody. I just call him woody. His friends call him woody. Who was the Amazon driver, but a week before this occurred, the Holy Spirit woke him up in the middle of the night like two 30 in the morning and told him to fast. So fast forward a week, he's standing in front of my gate. He hadn't eaten in 8 days and had only had water, and that's why I think he could spiritually assess and deal with all the things that he dealt with in a very quick manner. He was at the exact moment in time that the lord put him. If he would have been 5 seconds earlier, I'd have seen him out of wave. He'd have gone about his day. If he'd have been 5 seconds later, I'd have been on the ground and where we have 5 acres from where the gate is to where I was. He wouldn't have seen me because there's a berm in the way and I'd have been laying on the ground. So if he wasn't there, that exact moment. So I was, we're still dealing with the aftermath of Ian down here in Southwest Florida. We were going to have a church. Gathering at our House on that Saturday. And so I was up trim and trees, and I was on an extension ladder, easily 25 feet up because there were 6 by 6 20 foot 6 by 6s right next to when I was well above that. And woody, I'm trimming trees with a large chainsaw. Woody pulls up. Is there at the exact moment, sees someone trimming with a chainsaw, didn't know it was me at the time. And then as he's walking back to the truck, here's the branch snap, turns around, and at that moment, he sees the limb come down, hit the extension lottery jacks me up. So I didn't just get knocked down. I went up into the air. Wow. And he said it that moment, I looked at him while I was midair and we locked eyes from the gate to where I was falling. And fell 25 to 30 feet down straight down to the ground.

Buffalo Mayor Announces Anti-Looting Detail Following Blizzard

"We have experienced looting in the city of buffalo that we are taking extremely seriously The buffalo police department has established an anti looting detail yeah that buffalo was mayor Somebody tragic stories you hear about the people who have frozen to death in their cars and so many tragic situations from the Lake effect snow and At the extreme conditions the looting though it just It seems to be a condition of certain elements in society and specific places I can't help but to think about after a hurricane and in Southwest Florida Yet all that devastation and you might have seen in the news signs that say that that said if you loot we shoot You didn't have law enforcement going around telling people that was a problem by the way And incidentally might have noticed that there weren't significant looting issues despite a lot of people that attempted to come down incredible work by law enforcement In southwest fort after Ian Then you get something like this and buffalo and looting You have people that are freezing to death in their cars but you also have the looters that are out there It really is unfortunately in so many different ways But I do think that is a perversion of a society that allows it Starting with New York State

KeyCity Capital's Charlie Dombeck Joins Trish to Discuss the Market

"I promise you I had some good stuff coming up. So I want to cut to the tape right now. Just earlier, I sat down with my good friend. Charlie down back from key city capital and talk a little bit about all this craziness to Capital One of the sponsors of the program. Here's what he had to say. Charlie, it's good to see you have a friend as well with you. Charlie dog back. It's great to be here and I have just had a trip who is in charge of our luxury property division here, primarily in Southwest Florida. He'll share with you some deep insights into this market and where we see great economic opportunities moving forward and share with you how we pivoted our existing portfolio during a time where we experienced significant disaster and major renovation work in our portfolio here. Josiah hang tight, because I just want to ask Charlie a couple of big broad questions here before we get to what you guys are doing there in Florida. But Charlie, we heard from Jerome Powell and the market seems to think they already kind of thought they'd only be getting 50 basis points in the month of December. What's your sense of where we're really heading right now? Because there's been a lot of euphoria, a lot of people thinking, okay, equities are really good now and things have looked okay since October, but I'm not buying it. What about you? Yeah, I'm not buying it either. Look, the markets have recovered about 10% of what they've lost in. This is great news for many of you who did not reposition your portfolio during the most recent cycle and neither covered a fair amount of what you've lost, but there is still a significant risk in the marketplace today and here's why I think we're in a situation where you have to be very careful. One is, if you look at the yield curve, the relationship between short term and long-term interest rates, the disparity between short term and long-term rates is greater than it's been in decades. The yield curve is one of the leading indicators that is a strong predictor of a recession. And based upon the data that we're seeing, there are still significant economic threats. And the threat of a recession in the next 12 to 18 months. And what I believe is true is that people need to be very careful in terms of reinvesting in positioning capital in today's market environment.

FL Gov. Ron DeSantis Talks Hurricane Ian Recovery Effort

"Desantis, I was watching your disaster relief operations. And I said to myself, this is a man who sat through many, many staff briefings, decision briefs, course of action briefs. How did your military service training and experience. Help you with this response to hurricane Ian? Well, I think a couple of things. I mean, number one, what happens when we go into a state of emergency for a hurricane, I designate the division, the director of the division of urgency management is kind of the chief coordinating officer. So he's reporting directly to me and then what we do is all other state agencies effectively report directly to him. So we have a clear chain of command. It used to be that you'd have someone kind of doing disaster and then like the governors having to like talk separately to all these agencies. And that's just not how we do it in Florida, all of those people are all hands on deck. We have a very clear chain of command when we're in a state of emergency. And so you see things like your staging folks, our National Guard as staged, ready to go for search and rescue. We have urban search and rescue teams that were literally on the road at midnight on the Wednesday the storm hit driving through tropical storm force winds to be able to get to places like Fort Myers beach. We also have Florida fish and wildlife officers who these are waterborne operators who will go and when you have barrier islands that are in distress, they're there. So they're all there ready to go and then when the storm passes immediately go into search and rescue operations and I'm not necessarily in control of utility companies, but because we're marshaling every resource in the state, we had 42,000 linemen that were in the state of Florida. Many of them from places like Texas and Alabama, staged and ready to go, which was also a difficult thing because if you remember the track of the storm at one point, there were models taking it to the Florida Panhandle. It ended up going in Southwest Florida cutting across the state. So we have a big long Peninsula. You've got to be very nimble. But

"And espouse common sense. Today we'll be joined by Andrew Giuliani. Stay tuned, folks for him. Lots going on. We want to definitely send our thoughts, prayers, wishes to all of those in Florida, especially Fort Myers just got absolutely whacked by hurricane Ian. And if you have any friends, family, or if you're actually down there, we really hope you've been safe. We hope that your family can recover because this was a whopper. Yeah, I think the craziest part was they really didn't know for a while what it was going to hit, right? They thought maybe South Florida, then it went to Tampa, then it came back to Southwest Florida. It was a pretty wild, I guess we'll call it 48 to 72 hours of not knowing and not because they were not doing their jobs just because the thing changed. It was pretty crazy. Yeah, and this isn't the time to talk about, you know, what did people do wrong or what do we have to fix? And, you know, should we reconsider certain destinations and all that kind of thing? It's not the time to do that. I'm sure that the leaders, the mayors, the governor, Ron DeSantis, is going to be going through all of those details, the first and foremost thing, though, is make sure everyone's safe. Make sure everyone is out of harm's way. All these utility trucks. You see the one clip there were tens of thousands of utility trucks basically all queued up ready to go. I mean, that's what America is all about, right? It's about getting back together in a common cause and especially during these types of tragedies. I'm sure you saw the clip of the one reporter trying to get political with the santas on this and he just shut it right down. Break down. And that's what you need. That's what a leader does. A leader doesn't get wrapped up in an asinine question like that. They go, no, no, no, stop. And that's what he does.

He was in Southwest Florida, I should say I'm in Central Florida, but he came to or traveled to Southwest Florida. He surveyed the landscape. You know, he looked over a broad and then he gave a press conference with governor Ron DeSantis. They seemed to be working well together. There were headlines where a bunch of lefties were saying, hey, Biden is going to open up his wallets on et cetera and I'm paraphrasing for desantis. These people are a bunch of morons. We're the one that pay pays taxes to the federal government. It's insane how these people are. But Biden's comment about the climate change shows he's out of step with Florida, Florida's hurricane response, and I want to talk about this. Have tipped to the federalist someone there, Sean Fleetwood, wrote a great column that touched on who Joe Biden really is. "November the 23rd is another story. Ultimately, quasi crossing is going to want to give out the message that a radical package of reforms was necessary to reset the economy. It's going to be all about growth, but that is a massive gamble in which the markets don't have faith. So really, they want to change the narrative both inside the party and outside in the country ahead of an election in 2024. The compromise is just not a place where anyone is happy. And Lizzie, you know, I think from the markets perspective is you will understand that the markets do not like uncertainty and that's clearly what we have over there in the UK because let's trust was defiantly standing behind her economic policies just a day or two ago and then did this radical U turn and as you said through her quasi quark Tang under the bus and kind of reverse course, what happened do you think in that short period of time? And so cities saying that they don't think this U turn is suggestive of a lasting rally in the currency. So really, you could see much more market turmoil to follow. At one point, hurricane Ian was feared to directly hit the Tampa Bay region, where Chelsea Rivera is a PhD student in St. Petersburg. So she went south to shelter with her parents and Sarasota. Hurricane Ian actually landed more south, meaning that Chelsea Rivera's evacuation plan actually brought her closer to the storm center and its category four wins. I see palm trees swaying back and forth. The scariest part is incredibly the wind. It's, like you said, it's gone a 150 miles an hour. It's shaking the house. Green is pelting. The windows. Last night, I spoke to her just hours after the eye of the hurricane had made landfall. But the hurricane was not done with Southwest Florida yet. I want to say it was dinnertime, the winds were crazy. It sounded like a freight train. I was probably up until like 1 o'clock in the morning. And even then, I could hear the wind. Good afternoon, it's a beautiful day. I'm Mark Lewis. And I'm Debra Feinstein, with the top local stories we're following this hour, it is beautiful today, but it is going to be an indoor weekend for sure, Ian, leaving a wide swath of destruction in Southwest Florida and headed this way. When the huge storm reached Florida yesterday, it was a category four hurricane. Today it's been downgraded to a tropical storm. We are learning today that two people were reported dead in the region, but governor desantis of Florida says unclear whether those deaths were related to the storm. More than 2 million customers are still without power, a barrier island worth a thousands of people live has been cut off, where a historic pier has been destroyed. And the story will likely get that the storm will likely get stronger before it hits South Carolina later today and comes to our region on Saturday and Sunday. Meantime, storm preparation continues across Virginia as state officials get ready to deal with the remnants of Ian. We're planning for rainfall projections anywhere from about two to 6 plus inches. Parts of Virginia could see severe weather including persistent flooding as Ian moves this way, rain and tidal flooding expected to last through the weekend and into next week. With the southern central and really the eastern portions of our state, kind of that east of Richmond area projected to receive our highest amounts. "Now today's stories. Our first story hurricane Ian, one of the strongest ever hurricanes making landfall in the U.S., comes after an era of major coastal development. But Florida has also ramped up preparedness. After lumbering across Cuba, hurricane Ian came ashore Wednesday afternoon in Southwest Florida, bringing up to 150 mph gusts, and a storm surge that inundated neighborhoods, picking some homes off their foundations. As of Thursday morning, more than two and a half million Florida customers were without power. The same number had been under evacuation orders, and many heated them as highways crammed with fleeing vehicles, days before the storm. One big question that will linger after the storm is whether the state's preparations are offset by the risks posed by massive development that's been allowed along the 1300 mile long Florida coast. The state has made huge strides in building codes since hurricane Andrew in 1992. Mandating that new homes in high velocity zones withstand 120 mph winds. Though Ian is proof that the worst storms can be stronger than that. And local officials showed a sense of caution prior to hurricane Ian that likely saved lives. Once these emergency operations centers pull the trigger, they're on top of stuff, says Mark haven, an expert on coastal resiliency. And they need to be because they've allowed rampant development in the coastal zone, and there is no way

"News special report about 2 million customers remain in the dark tonight as a weakened but still dangerous hurricane Ian makes its way north and made landfall as a historic category four storm in Southwest Florida near Fort Myers, witnessing it there correspondent Manuel berch is. Ian overtook homes and submerged cars. In Naples, all in trees and down power lines sparked fires and made roads impassable. The center of Ian is now in Central Florida. We may actually see our worst storm surge on the backside of Ian as it moves to the northeast tonight. We still got a long way to go. That is the weather channel, Jim cantori. This is his colleague Alex Wilson. The storm will move off towards the north and east, tracking across Florida weakening as it does so, but moving slowly and bringing heavy rain also tornado risks and strong winds across the Peninsula, then by the end of the week and into the weekend, actually moving into parts of the southeast, bringing the same issues. CBS News special report, I'm Tom footy. Virginia has declared a state of emergency with the mid Atlantic region expected to get the remnants of Ian this weekend. Governor Glenn youngkin called for the emergency status to begin Friday in preparation for severe rainfall flooding, wind damage and tornadoes. The governor's emergency declaration says the severe weather is likely to impact roadways, utilities and other infrastructure later this week and into early next week. The governor is also encouraging residents to have emergency supplies on hand, Virginia's department of wildlife resources is also advising boaters to be extra careful. Ridiculous. Storm team forced chief meteorologist Doug camera, says areas near Virginia's beaches could see more severe weather. Areas like Norfolk and Virginia Beach, however, over towards ocean city could see tropical storm force winds and a lot more in the way of rainfall upwards of two to 5 inches of rain down into those regions. Now that's what the latest track, as I mentioned, we're waiting to see what's going on now because this storm still has a long way to go before it makes its way our way. Janice Dean: Worst Case Scenarios for Hurricane Ian

"The worst case scenario for Southwest Florida. I will say folks in Tampa Bay, you know, they're not out of the Woods just yet, but the worst of the storm surge, which is the most deadly part of a hurricane, is really going to be between Fort Myers and Sarasota and we could see upwards of 18 feet of storm surge and obviously if you live along the coast, that's going to put homes underwater. And the category of the storm and we're almost a category 5, but it's not even relevant right now when you're talking about a storm surge of 12 to 18, even 20 feet. And then we have high tide that's moving in in the late afternoon. We're expecting the worst of the hurricane force waves and winds and surge and heavy rainfall. It really, you know, Charlie went through this area in 2004, hurricane Charlie, people that know the area, remember Charlie, but this storm is three times the size of Charlie. It will be devastating. I am, I hate to say worst case scenario, but it really is the worst case scenario in this area. And I just hope people heeded the warnings because I mean, they're using catastrophic deadly, those types of terms, the national hurricane center likes to steer clear of unless they actually know that this is a probability. So when you see those dire warnings coming in at 8 a.m., just hours before the storm makes landfall, it really takes your breath away. And I am urging people to just pray for people in Southwest Florida because this will be devastating and it will be historic.

"Be right back. Again, congressman Byron Donald's coming up. All right, folks, welcome back to TFD truth. We are now joined by Byron donalds. Byron donalds represents district 19 in Southwest Florida. This district includes if you don't know folks, Fort Myers, Naples, gorgeous beaches, Markle island. Byron, I have to say, you couldn't have picked a more beautiful place to represent. Not to mention, you have governor Ron DeSantis and now Florida resident Donald Trump. Welcome to TFT truth, and thank you so much for joining us. Thanks for having me on. I really appreciate it. Yeah, that's just a gorgeous place. I know you actually, you grew up in Brooklyn, is that right? Yeah. Born and raised from the New York. Wow. And then you end up going to college down in Florida and ended up saying, yeah, this place doesn't suck. I mean, look at decision really was. Like, you know, I kind of like having wide open space. Anybody that lived in New York when you understand that right open space is not a thing that comes with the territory. No. So for me, I got to Florida. And I was like, you know what? I think a mistake. It was really that simple. Well, 75 or 80° in November, December and January doesn't hurt either. Yeah, I mean, that's great stuff too. Yeah, so to leave Washington, D.C. and go back to Southwest Florida. Pretty cool, pretty cool. I like it. So again, thanks for joining us. We want to get your comments on some of the recent activity in Congress, including that impassioned speech that you had. You get so much so limited time when you get your turn, I guess. But on October 28th in front of oil industry leaders, we want to get to that because that was just I think that just you hit it out of the park and suddenly and anyone else who felt like we believe in energy and the way energy is delivered, we were all on board with you. "Is why every day in southwest Florida somebody drives into the front of a building. Happens all the time between December and April. I am not kidding you. You know how like I moved out here? And one of the things I was shocked about. When I moved out here was how many people die skiing every year. I had no idea. I was kind of horrified by that. I think people who come to Southwest Florida like Dang, how many people are going to drive into the front of the building. Happens all the time. All the time. So that is on the block. I also have thank God parents are pushing back over critical race theory. We're gonna talk about that later in the week. Couple great videos right long. Portraying a trump blogger. Who is now despondent with nothing to talk about. And Dave found this boxing video that has a lot of bad language in it. So if you're bad language sensitive, you don't want to watch this video. But it is Oddly satisfying. Very excited because this guy walks into a boxing, gym mouth and off like, yeah, you want to fight? You want to fight somebody when you get your mix it up. I mean, it's And this guy's in the ring need very calmly says It's OK. Come on, let's come on in. And then he puts the crap out of the guy. Yeah. While taunting him the entire time. It's very satisfying him. It will get some a couple of beautiful body shots and knocks him down about four times and Every time he had somewhere, the big shot. You can tell. The guy wants to quit and run. But what but won't because everyone's watching and you want your tough he is. Well, he I'm guessing he will not make the same mistake twice. And my.

"And now we do JFK. Are Florida families are amazing. They not only adopt our bugs, but the time and the distance doesn't even make a dent to them. They buy the ticket and then they run the vehicle and they drive their animal tone. And they're so gracious that those stopover in the southern states Bernie and I'll continue to drop animals off in there. Than and destination will be Florida. And what amazing again is. I just had another family who adopted the golden retriever and most Southwest Florida area. Her best friend wants a pug that she saw that we just saved off of us in the slaughterhouse, and so again, that's boarded. Well, um, so the community in Florida is amazing. Absolutely amazing. So, Jill, how can we help you? So are our biggest need right now, as most folks that, remember Office's funding. We are in a situation right now, that's pretty catastrophic. And we need to continue to ways funds There are certain breeds and certain rescues that are more solvent. Another I have currently right now I am working on an extremely to project but I would love to help from your Florida community. I have French bulldogs that need to be rescued. I have over 200. And I don't know. Have a beautiful young Labradors. I have a training facility in Florida that wants to help us. They actually want to take these lab doors and they want to use them for veterans and, yes, a dog or service dogs. So we're looking for the funding specifically looking for the funding to help us start a foundation to do these two projects. And these, most of these dogs will be located in Florida. At least the Labrador project would be so it's a win win situation. That's a win for the dog. It's the one for the Florida community, and it's a win for The population that needs the emotional support dog. The veterans that need the dog special needs kiddos that might need allowed to accompany them into school. Awesome. So where did they go? Where did they log on? They go to our website China rescue dogs that orc We have a huge button that donate that button directly linked right into our Wells Fargo corporate accounts and then it will auto generate a tax receipt letter because we are nonprofit father won three C. All of our rescue partners work around our country. So we are located around. I'm in North Carolina and then my People who brought my organization or all around our country. But again, our Florida community is fantastic. And we have a training facility but would like to start this and I couldn't Imagine a better community to start and kicked us off. Unfortunately, we do need the funding to do this project. Moving freight across their world is quite expensive, and most people don't understand that. There We are moving precious cargo such as our dog. It still is the cost of weighing the freight on the freighters, which are they cargo planes and until the borders open, which I'm optimistic, But they'll open and maybe 6 to 9 months and will resume business is always where we sent from volunteers, including myself, were still subject to a fairly high price for these kiddos to come in. Your country. I understand. So log on to China, rescue dogs dot org's click on the big Donate button. Please help get these dogs out of China. Bring home of Labrador, a golden retriever, a pug of French bulldog. Your house for safety? Yes. So we are, said black. You know, a lot of people say to me. Are we really making the difference? Are we really changing? That's what are we doing? You know if we give to this, how does this help? Just this week with the donations that we've collected? I've been able to save Pick Labradors, French bulldog nine Golden retrievers, poodles. I've also been able to buy an entire pallet of dogs in which we can show on your Web site, the feeder animals in the shelters that are remaining so what I say is $5.20 dollars. Ah $100 really does add up and does make a difference. And we're making a movement right now in China, that our country not just in the state of Florida, that's amazing, but our country No longer will tolerate or listen to what the Chinese government has to say that this is not occurring. We can show that a was continued to occur, and this meat industry is not About animals that are being meted for food source think this is about a billion dollar industry and brutality, But it's just unacceptable At this point in our world, it's inhumane. You know, I believe that these are creatures created by God. And when you tortured soul like that this is just absolutely barbaric and the brutality is just Absolutely horrific. Our country does care and your donations your direct donations like a huge impact on a direct relationship to savings animal and make a big difference in this meat industry in China. All right. China. Rescue dogs dot org's Go donate Now, Thank you. Jill will keep up with you on how you're doing, And when the borders do open, we hope that you can have a big surge of dogs coming in. "If one has a choice, you're an expert infectious disease, which one should be taken. Well, I think we need to see the data on the after Zeneca and the J and J vaccines. They're probably going to be fine. You know. In the UK, the AstraZeneca vaccine has already been approved and has good outcomes. But we need to see the day to let our FDA look at it and get that information out to us. Doctor. There's many states that have hard lockdowns. For example, California has a hard lock down New York City is AH, hard lockdown. Ireland has a hard lockdown and other cities and states do not. For example, I spent some time after Christmas and in Florida and Southwest Florida, and they do not have a hard lock down bars. Restaurants are open. They're supposed to maintain 6 ft. Is there some and I read some of the articles from doctors and others. How especially Dr Alex are Berenson, whose New York Times writer, He's indicated that whether you have a hard lock down or soft lockdown You have the same result, because ultimately by putting people together and ah, hard lock down that's going to cause the transmission and that at some point when that is lessened or weakened, then you go back into the general public. You delay the inevitable. How's it possible? Whether you have a hard lock down or a little bit of a lockdown? You many times get the same result. Well, I think it's a lot of it has to do how well people follow the lockdown and whether or not people are out, you know, transmitting the disease in private community homes or Areas that are not locked down. So you know, it's really hard to be in a hard lock down and people miss their families. They miss social interaction, and I think people are gonna mix no matter what we do. The hard lockdowns do slow things down a little bit, but they're very, very difficult to maintain. And in fact This is the middle of January. If things go, according to Hoyle, whoever Hoyle is What would you anticipate? We're gonna be worrying Mass through the rest of this year because a chunk of the population will not be will not get the vaccine. I think it's very likely that we will be wearing masks, at least through, I would say at least through September. 1. I think the question is, When do we hit that herd immunity where the virus stopped transmitting in the community. On right now, you know that is still an unknown as far as getting warm and hot. You know, Normally, a lot of people thought okay, when when summer's here is gonna be good when winter comes gonna be bad was Southern California and Southwest lot of Florida. Doesn't have much winner and California is the hot spot. Is there a reason why a state like California at least the Southern half has a similar climate to Florida. Florida has a lot less infection being more open The California Is there a rhyme or reason for that? Yeah, We don't know the answer to that. I mean, it seems like the the virus transmitted pretty easily and in warm weather throughout the summer, But then when people went back indoors and cold climates, it really took off here in the North. Partly maybe that we have the new variant virus in some areas of the country that we don't have in others, and the new variant is more easily transmissible. Maybe that's got something to do with what's going on in California as well. Dr Black is the variant, more deadly. It's not more deadly. It's just there's more easy to spread. And then, of course, if frail people get it more easily. They may have worse outcomes that certain how come you could have five people? Exposed simultaneously, maybe a super spreader event to the same virus load and your five different results. Why, Yeah, That's a great question, And we don't know the answer to that. It's really puzzling. Why some people have Uh, such overwhelming reactions to this virus infection and develop terrible lung problems, and others hardly have any symptoms at all. There's probably something genetic about it, but we just don't understand that the difference right now I have good friends of mine like Paul Jansen and some others that talk about zinc. And C and D three and another of vitamin regimens. I'm on I'm on zinc. I'm on See I'm on D. If he tells me enough, I'll be on that, too. And by wasting time and money and just urinating out or is that is that If if someone has a regular good diet, I mean, this'll morning for breakfast. I had all the good stuff had some fruit. It should someone a healthy male or female be taking zinc, vitamin C and D. Yeah, The controlled trials haven't really shown any benefit to taking those. Ah, supplements in preventing the onset of covert or better outcomes in covert. So I think, just maintaining a healthy diet. Keeping yourself in shape is the best plan. How important is like walking and I have some friends that are in bed as I speak, lying on their back and their stomach in their side. With covert. They've been diagnosed, understand away from him, and if someone is active, not in the hospital, but you're at home and I'm talking to this guy's wife. About what to do. What advice would you give a 61 year old male generally in good health, who's lying in bed with Cove in what should be happening? I think you gotta maintain your hydration. So drink plenty of fluids. I do think getting up and walking around a little bit. It's really good. That helps prevent blood clots, and it also helps you keep your lungs open s. So I think if people are our home, they should rest but get a little bit of activity. That's for sure. How do you maintain and become a health care worker as a family member, husband or wife for a spouse? When they have Coben and you have to care for him. What do you do? Aren't you going to get covert? Well, you're gonna be exposed. That's for sure. So you know if if they require, you know, physical care to help them, get up. Go to the bathroom. You're probably going to get exposed. Do we know where the what's your best Guess Is that where it came from? Was this thing from a bat or from a lizard or wasn't from manmade forces in Wuhan? What's your guess? That That's a really good question. And the World Health Organization has been trying to get into China to get more answers. It certainly is very closely related to bat viruses, but how it jumped into humans is the great question. How does it explain Because all of us have pets and animals around us. I think of all the zoo personnel the deal with animals, every description a regular basis. How does that happen? Well, it could could be those markets in China where they have Ah, lots of live animals on display that people can purchase and eat on those animals could be carriers of this virus, and that allowed it to jump into humans. That's possibility. Could be somebody got bit by a bat. That's a possibility, too. It's just lots of options. Do you believe the mask wearing is important? I've had on guest in the past. Who said, Well, you have to follow the protocols. How to wear a mask. How did put it on how to take it off? That is no one follows the protocols. I think about what you do in the medical profession when you're In a surgery setting how you handle things. Your hands are washed several times. The master put on a certain way. Take an office Certain way. I have three or four mask tour in my pocket ones in my car. I put him on. Take him off. I don't follow protocols. How effective can amass be if you're a normal person, not following protocols. Well, I think they really can be effective. Most. This virus is mostly transmitted on little droplets that people cough out. And if you could prevent yourself from inhaling those droplets and keep your hands clean when you take that mask on and off most of the time..

He got my family history and He said just try for a month or two. Try having one or two drinks but stopping and see what happens. Well sure enough. I tried to do his experiment. And sometimes i have two drinks and stop just like a normal drinker. Other times i would have the two drinks and then it was third drink and fourth rank and pick up the stranger and do crazy things that no one could get me to leave and eventually it. I could see the pattern very clearly. That if i had even one drink i could not trust myself to do really dangerous things for myself and other people

Who Gets To Vote In Florida?

"This is planet money from NPR. In two thousand at the age of seventeen. Angel. Sanchez gets his first real job. It's in the Law Library at the Soto Correctional Institution in southwest Florida where Angel is an inmate mark first day at work. I walk in and they told me this is your desk. and. Had A desk I've never in my life had a desk before that moment right away. Angel loves this place. There are no guards there's no fighting they even have their own coffee pot and it was a sense of liberation homeless for out of prison. In that moment, Angel had lived a hard life. The first time police put him in handcuffs. He was in the third grade in the principal's office by age fourteen, Angel Traded Sixty Bucks in his Super Nintendo for his first gun he ran away from home he joined a gang. And at Seventeen, he was sentenced to thirty years in prison for armed robbery and gang related shootings, and it's in his first year in prison that he gets that job in the library and as he begins to study the law there, he starts to feel something that he's never really felt before like maybe he has plans I liked it because it allowed me to challenge the system in a legal way I. always there was never a challenge. The police stopped me I can't do. Nothing about that. They slap me a candle nothing about that and the law gave me an avenue that says, no, you could challenge it. Angel starts working on a paralegal certificate and as he's studying, he starts to think wait this is dot as hard. As I thought, it would be learning the laws like how what lawyers charge so much. It doesn't take much to learn to do this and most of the forms are refilled. What is going on here I thought it was a scam. This esoteric thing that I thought only geniuses knew I could get it. Either genius or they're not and I said Madiba ever got how could I be a lawyer but then he thinks Oh wait with even let me be a lawyer with a felony conviction. He looks into it and the answer in Florida is probably not or at least it would be very hard I. He'd have to beg the governor for clemency, which is almost never granted and then angel learns he's also lost a bunch of other rights. Because of his felony learned that in Florida, you're voting rights you're right to sit on during your rights rump up public office for life. It's losing the right to vote that really stinks for Angel. He's like hold up I can't vote ever like, I'm seventeen years old I've never even had the right to vote, and now you're telling me that for the rest of my life I, just get no say as a citizen of this democracy. Which is true. Of course, not just for Angel. There are about one point, four, million people with felony convictions in Florida one in ten adults with a felony conviction more than one in five African Americans. They what? But that's something that will come from some other countries like my family they come from Venezuela and Cuba there you see the government trying to imprison people and then use the law to take away people's political power but not in the United States. Hello, and welcome to planet money I'm Karen Defend taking away the political power of one point four million people is. A big deal anywhere. But especially in Florida Florida is a state that can swing presidential elections like the one happening just next week and elections in Florida usually come down too much less than even a million People Hillary Clinton lost Florida in two thousand, sixteen by one hundred, twelve, thousand votes in two thousand George Bush won by just five, hundred and thirty seven. Today on the show Angel Sanchez sets out to get the right to vote back for himself and for the one point, four million others like him in Florida. Which works? Until the fight stopped being about voting rights and started to become about money.
