"And Prince William county. Thanks a lot for the night. Here with WTO play 19 lane. There is a morning September 29th. Welcome in this early hour to WTO P, two O 8 is the slower clock trains. Call Michael and son and get $100 off a train cleaning today. Well, I think it was on the 8th over to rich hunter in the WTO traffic center. I just spoke with a couple of our listeners who were stuck on over by the nice Middleton bridge in southern Maryland, traffic just starting to move each way very slowly again, but again, one direction at a time, they are alternating traffic through the work zone when there had also been a crash or a disabled on the bridge so they had traffic stopped them both directions for nearly an hour. But again, everyone's starting to move very slowly. But again, only one direction at a time. There's a pretty good sizable backup on both sides both Norfolk and southbound on three O one. So again, patience, hopefully everyone's gonna get off the bridge here very quickly. Once since they've got things moving again, but again, just be extra careful out there and please do not exit your cars if you are stopped on the bridge. Now elsewhere, if you are traveling on the bell wipe, working on the interloop in Virginia between route 59 66, only a single left lane closed there, then on the inner loop between Georgetown pike and the legion bridge, single left lane blocked again outer loop, headed south to the legion toward Georgetown pike, you get by the work sound two lanes to write, but as of late, not much in a way of delays. "Mission D.C. dot org. It's 9 28. Traffic and weather on the 8s and when it breaks, Jack Taylor in the traffic center. Harvey keeping an eye out right now in Montgomery county on the beltway inner loop, we've been heavy with some slowing three 55, rolling past Connecticut avenue up the hill toward Georgia avenue. Now we're keeping an eye on the cameras to make sure we've got maybe a mobile work crew, maybe doing some street sweeping or something it is unclear if nothing seen. Yet, if they are along the left or right side of the roadway. Topside outer lips to a little bit heavy, coalsville road back toward George avenue, literally the only delay left in Maryland on four 95. Two 70, we were a bit heavy coming out of Frederick through Hyatt's town, then again briefly in Germantown, quiet between the beltways on 95 in the bottom of Washington Parkway, leaving Croft and going three south. As you head southbound beyond melford boulevard toward 50, there's a work zone there in the right lane. 50 out of the bay bridge, the work today is on the westbounds fan, blocking the left lane. Looking good through southern Maryland, no troubles late there. In Virginia, you're fine. 95 north and south between Springfield and falmouth, three 95, good to go between the beltway and the 14th. Southbound, near seminary road, we may have had a crash on one of the ramps, one 23 north at old dominion drive, there was a wreck, and there should be work on the George Washington Parkway going north from one 23 up toward the beltway, usually staying right there to get by. Not bad in the district right now. I two 95 good to go. Ox and cove up to the 11th, quiet on the freeway, looking good in the third street tunnel. New York avenue, there was a wreck in northeast. It had been between 9th street and Florida avenue. Sounds like the dump trucks out of the roadway, so at least now lanes are open. Still some brake lights though, D.C. two 95 southbound as you approach nanny hill and Burroughs avenue headed towards east capital street. "Three year thunderstorm warning for parts of southern Maryland Charles county as well, so we'll have all the details for you coming up. For 18 a WTO, let's go to Dave dildine in the traffic center. A lot of traffic challenges, especially in Northern Virginia, three 95 southbound delays from The Pentagon toward shirlington where police were stopped with one and blocking the right lane. 95 south volume delays building in woodbridge. We've got crashes throughout fairfax and Prince William county's Braddock road, both ways between pleasant valley road and chandley farm circle, traffic has stopped airbags deployed, and you're gonna have to turn it around with the rescue squad on scene, Great Falls, Georgetown pike, is blocked near walker road. That's a moving truck that caught on fire. Into manassas, northbound on two 34 delays lead to the Prince William Parkway brentsville road change and police direction at a crash. Route 50 between south riding and Aldi remains closed, westbound west of stone springs boulevard in the hospital because of the large fire department of response at an extinguished barn fire. Route 28 southbound in manassas, near Yorkshire lane, a crash, and a pretty long backup southbound on 28 leaving centerville in delays. George Washington Parkway at tulane drive, the crash involved a vehicle that flipped over and laid it on its roof, but now that should be mostly out of the way. Volume and weather delays around the beltway in Maryland and Virginia headlights on in The Rain two 70. It's a pretty slow northbound traffic given the weather, but no mishaps reported. "August 9th 2022. Welcome to WTO P where the time is four 31. I think it was all the 8s and when it breaks over to rich under in the WTO P traffic center. All right, no change on two ten and fort Washington that remains closed in both directions between Palmer road and Kirby hill road. This has a result of an early morning crash that occurred in the work sound and brought down power lines so again the road still shut down if your norepinephrine you're taking off at Palmer road southbound traffic diverted at Kirby hill road. Again, this happened very early this morning, still waiting on word when they may reopen the lanes. Now the good news, if there's any in this, is that right now, the beltway in Maryland from Montgomery and French George's county is quiet. No issues on 5, three O one, or root four coming out of southern Maryland, think about any way you can get to those and to avoid two ten so keep that in mind. If you're headed into the district early, I two 95 and D.C. two 95 look good. The overnight work on three 95 nor found headed toward the third street tunnel that has since wrapped up and cleared all lanes are open and delays have ease there so good news. Still working at last check inbound on New York avenue between South Dakota avenue bladensburg road you are down to a single right lane to the paving project that remains very slow as a result, still dealing with delay 66 westbound, the two work zones back to back between route 7 and the bellway single left lane gets you by between the bellway and nutley street. You are down to a single right lane. They've stopped traffic several times in that work sound. That's also affected folks coming off the animal loop of the beltway as well. So just be aware that's not a pretty place to be right now. Still haven't gotten the all clear on the work on eastbound 66 as you approach and pass the Prince William Parkway, we were getting by two lanes left with the good news is beyond that, nothing else anyway getting to the ballet or even inside the beltway headed toward the district that it's moving pretty well actually at this point. Rich hunter WTO traffic. Good morning, the humidity is very high this morning. Temperatures are still in the mid to upper 70s and get ready for another blazing hot

So severe thunderstorm warning, central and Arnold county until 8 p.m. storm right now near Annapolis, stretching down towards the lothian area and really packing a punch with some heavy rain and some gusty winds, plus lightning, and you mentioned about the lightning strike earlier. This one until 8 p.m., that storm again, the hovering near the Dale City area over towards saint Potomac mills and moving eastward or east northeastward at about 25 miles an hour. Again, with gusty winds downpours and lots of lightning. We will see these storms gradually diminish over the next hour or so as we head towards sunset, but you're remaining pretty muggy outside. Temperatures will be in the 70s tonight with saint patchy fog tomorrow. Unfortunately, we do it all over again, a little disturbance in the atmosphere could trigger another round of showers and thunderstorms, otherwise hot and muggy lower 90s. And any of those storms could have downpours, gusty winds, and also frequent lightning as well. Tomorrow afternoon tomorrow evening. How about over the weekend? What looks partly sunny on Saturday at steamy day, highs lower 90s, another chance of seeing some afternoon evening storms, about a 40% chance on Saturday. Hi, Michelle, the culprit is a front. It's draped right across the area, and it produced a nasty batch of storms earlier on your Thursday afternoon, Thursday, evening, across falkirk county. I know you'll have more information on that, but nonetheless, the unfortunate weather continues with more heavy rain, Gaithersburg, McLean, rest in Springfield, Lake ridge and Dale still some heavy rain, parts of southern Maryland also seeing some as well, south of rosaryville and the Charles county, also some heavy rain across portions of, say Harrison Berg as you head along the I 81 south of Strasbourg and south of mount Jackson. How about the weekend forecast? How about any more storm chances given how wet the ground is? I'll have all the information complete with the details, whether on the 8s coming up. Michelle. All right, Stephen, apologies for the technical glitches there, but let's talk about the hardest hit areas by the storms we had earlier in the afternoon. The worst was seen in falkirk county, which saw toppled trees and downed power lines. Warrenton town manager brandy schafer said the town appears to have taken a direct hit. What we're seeing here is some pretty significant damage from just kind of wind and rain that we're not used to seeing here in warrenton. So definitely a storm that had a different punch than what we're used to seeing here in warrenton. Schaefer says several large trees came down, taking power lines with them, but there were no reports of any injuries. These severe weather incidents this evening have knocked out power for more than 32,000 homes and businesses in Northern Virginia between Dominion Energy, rappahannock electric cooperative and Novak 17,000

Good portion of us in Southern Maryland are actually or south of the Beltway. Should I say are going to be seeing mainly rain tomorrow and that would be after lunchtime beginning and then sticking around through early Tuesday morning, however, if you live in even D, C and northward in areas like Northern Prince George's Montgomery, northern Fairfax, Loudon, That's where we could see some freezing rain setting up tomorrow night and even some snow and sleet, a coating of it. Not much in the way of accumulation. The closer you get to the Mason Dixon line in those higher elevations. We could see one plus inches there. But for the most part is just gonna make a messy commute tomorrow evening tomorrow night and into Tuesday morning, so please be careful. On the roads highs tomorrow. Upper thirties Tuesday Low forties. We are looking at rain tapering off throughout the day and then by Wednesday, we are partly sunny with highs in the mid forties Wednesday night tracking a storm system. That has the potential to bring snow Thursday. At this point, it looks like the models are trending more to the no side like lower chances for seeing snow. But if that storm shifts farther north And that could definitely change a zoo. We head through the remainder of your Thursday high temperatures will be in the upper thirties. Right now. Snow, rain moves into the Washington DC region
"But Amelia Draper has it for tonight Cloudy skies with lows in the twenties and low 30 size tomorrow in the thirties, is a wintry mix moves into the region. During the morning and midday hours and continues throughout the day for Washington and areas right around the district. This likely starts is a mix of rain and snow changing to all reign as the day wears on, with the chance for some sleet and freezing rain possible. Mainly all snow farther north and west of the metro area, and namely all rain in southern Maryland, parts of Prince George's and Anna Rondo. Counties inside of the Beltway accumulation amounts likely around an inch or less, and anything that falls and sticks will be melting by the evening hours as temperatures warm but into parts of Upper Montgomery, Louden and Frederick counties. We could see snowfall totals anywhere from 6 to 12 inches even higher and strong. Team four. Meteorologist
Winter Storm to Hit Washington DC Area With Snow; 8-16 Inches Possible to North, West
"Were instructing for weather alert mode for Wednesday and Wednesday night with the National Weather Service posting winter storm warnings for upper Montgomery loud in northern Faqir counties and areas further north and west in the winter storm warnings Storm Team four is forecasting 8 to 16 inches of snow. You also have winter weather advisories in effect for Southern Montgomery, Washington, Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Prince William and Southern Faqir counties and flood watches in effect for southern Maryland, Prince Georges and Anna Rondo counties. I'm strong Team four meteorologist Amelia
Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For NoVA, Washington DC
"Is is the the warnings warnings have have either either expired expired or or they've they've been been cancelled cancelled a a few few minutes minutes early early that that storm storm that in particular we were watching in Montgomery County in Howard County. As we can quite a bit in the past 15 minutes, no longer above severe levels. It's still a thunderstorm is still putting down some pretty heavy rainfall. But the potential for any large hail or really strong, gusty winds is now pretty much over with. So the warning Is cancelled early, but still some fairly heavy rain from the Seneca area through Rockville in Rossmore, White oak up to sandy spring in Brookville and over the line into a highland in scaggsville and love on savage areas. Uh, just to the north of the Montgomery County side of the Beltway. Just to the north of Beltway is the heavy rain. Aah! And again. It stretches into parts of Howard County and up towards the Baltimore area to sew. The warning has not been extended to the East and unlikely is It's an an unlikely unlikely unlikely that that that will will will be be be extended extended extended any any any farther farther farther to to to the the the east east east through through through Northern Northern Northern Prince Prince Prince George's George's George's in in in and and and around, around, around, Oh Oh Oh counties, counties, counties, But But But it it it is is is the the the remnants remnants remnants are are are still still still moving moving moving to to to the the the east. east. east. So So So those those those areas areas areas are are are still going to get some heavy rain in the next few minutes or so. We're not seeing any thunderstorm development now in Virginia anymore, except that northern tip of Fairfax County, and we're not seeing any thunderstorm development in southern Maryland. So even though there is a still a severe thunderstorm watch until midnight. For those areas, stuff will likely be cancelled early, so the thunderstorms that exist in northern Maryland will continue to wind down for the next two hours and 90 minutes or so. Everything will be out of here completely by midnight. Regardless, Temperatures will continue to fall through the eighties through the low to mid seventies for overnight lows. It'll be a warm and muggy night. And tomorrow after dude. We'll do it all over again. And with a stronger cold front on the way from the north, With even hotter temperatures. We will likely see Maur storms than today of affecting more locations. And some of them could be stronger, too. So so more severe weather likely tomorrow afternoon into the evening. Amaro size of being the upper eighties, too low nineties But behind the cold front that I mentioned on Friday just a few straight leftover showers in the morning, then lowering humidity, breezy conditions the rest of the day highs in the low to mid eighties. Saturday, mostly study and warm but much less humid and much more comfortable Hae to be in the upper seventies, too. Low eighties Sunday, also 80 degrees right now in Fairfax, down to 73 behind the storms, and hi it's down in its 84 at at Washington. Washington. Reagan Reagan National, National,
Flash Flood Watch In Effect For Washington, DC Area
"Ah Flash Flood Watch has just gone into effect for the entire W T o p listening area. That's because heavy rains are expected today on top of already saturated ground all of D C as well as most of southern Maryland Prince George's. And parts of Montgomery and Howard County's fall under that flood watch affected areas in northern Virginia include Arlington Falls Church. Alexandria, Fairfax County, Prince William and Eastern
Flash Flood Watch In Effect For Washington, DC Area
"Watch for the entire area until midnight and night. As we track thunderstorms and downpours this afternoon, thes storms will be slow moving, and that's leading to flood concerns out there with up to two inches of rain possible in spots. The biggest area of concern is southern Maryland that had so much rainfall there on Tuesday as we head on into the evening and overnight hours, rain will start to taper off late, But we'll still have some scattered showers and thunderstorms out there tomorrow, with plenty of clouds and muggy conditions otherwise highs tomorrow in the eighties. Once again as we look to the weekend, there's the chance for some thunderstorms on Saturday, especially east of Washington. Sunday is looking dry. I'm storm team for meteorologist stimulate a Draper. Okay, a couple of storm systems We're
Heat Index to Near 100°; Afternoon Rain, Thunder Likely in Washington DC Area
"Not a Storm Team four. Meteorologist Chuck Bell, Hard to imagine. This day probably qualifies a little relief, Chuck Absolutely. Every day. Saturday through yesterday, National Airport was 94 or higher. We should be a degree or two below that today, just barely, but a lot of extra clouds around should help. Hold most areas into the upper eighties and low nineties. Today. The Heat advisory for southern Maryland is from noon until eight o'clock. The D C Metro is not included in the Heat advisor today just won't meet The criteria, which is several consecutive hours with Heat index is up over 101 105 degrees. That being said the Heat index and Daisy will probably close to 100 for much of the afternoon. Hard to believe that a heat index of 100 is a break, but compared to 105 or six we'll take every little bit we could get. There will be another pie chance for some rain and thunderstorms today, not the kind of severe weather we dealt with yesterday but still a pop up thunderstorm. Not out of the question. And anytime your thunder. That means that lightning is present. Always good to get off the golf course and out of the pool and away from any local waterways. And please be cautious around it. Highs Today Low nineties up Brady's in the suburbs tomorrow another fairly cloudy day on Friday with a passing shower, not a big rain impact. Tomorrow would've pop up rain shower thunderstorm. Not out of the question on your Friday afternoon. Tomorrow's highs. Good stay below 90 degrees of national Airport. That's cool. Snap 89. Then over the weekend, we dry out and warm up again Saturday, partly to mostly sunny, 92 Lots of Sunday Sunshine High
Washington D.C.-area forecast: Hot today, and turning hotter the next few days
"Draper with us tonight. And Amelia, You've got one heck of a hot forecast force from the weekend. Exactly, Shawn. We're talking about dangerous heat moving in for the weekend, especially Sunday and then staying dangerously hot Monday Tuesday, potentially even Wednesday as well. I've also been mentioning that isolated storm chance here throughout the afternoon and evening hours on W. G. O P and seeing that materialized now into parts of southern Maryland down into Charles County, saying some really heavy rainfall just to the south of the low Plato area. Ah lot of lightning as well starting to develop so we could see some heavy rain, some strong, gusty winds out around the Hughes Ville. Sorry. This does look like it's slowly moving on into ST Mary's and potentially portions of Calver and the southernmost point of Prince George's County, so some isolated storms out there Tonight. Most of us do look to stay dry with blows, though, on ly in the seventies area wide high temperatures tomorrow warming into the middle Upper nineties. Humidity levels are slightly lower compared to today. That being said, though our heat index tomorrow afternoon, it's still above 100 degrees, and then Sunday afternoon, Middle Upper nineties and tropical Community make our heat index feel like 100 to 107 degrees, so we could certainly have a heat advisory out there as we look to Sunday and then Monday if we hit 100 which I am Gore casting, it will be the first time Reagan National has hit 100 in almost four years. The last time was in August over 2016. Since scattered lately. Thunderstorms are possible Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as well with the extreme heat and humidity in the area. But again with the Moving in. This is that you want to take seriously drinking lots of water, taking frequent breaks, avoiding long hours outdoors. That thing said currently temperatures across the area right now. Bigger sounded 91 95 degrees in Arlington, and we're at 93 leaves for for alright, alright, thanks thanks
Potential Tropical Storm Heading North, Warm Weekend Temperatures In Washington DC
"In your forecast for your Thursday and honestly, the heat, humidity aren't going anywhere any time soon. Statistically, it's our hottest time of the year and boy they forecast is going to live up to that right now. A lot of puffy cumulus clouds outside nothing showing up on storm team for a radar currently already plenty warm. It's 81 in Washington, Gaithersburg, Manassas, Quantico and Baltimore already afternoon hives to be aright at or just above 90 degrees. Also keeping a very close eye on a storm along the North Carolina coast line right now. An 80% chance that it may very well turn into a tropical storm Fay. It'll come across the eastern shore during the day tomorrow and could for some parts of our area, especially along and east of I 95 could deliver quite a bit in the way of some tropical downpours on Friday, could be arriving as early as seven or eight o'clock tomorrow morning and then periods of very heavy rain likely tomorrow afternoon and evening. So if you are beach bound for the weekend If you could make the drive today, that would be advisable, But it's going to be a tough go tomorrow. And beach locations are really gonna have quite a bit of rain starving this and win so I would not recommend getting in the ocean over the weekend, recurrent threat will remain very, very high. So human today. Ah, hi Rain chance tomorrow from Washington eastbound but really is going to be a very sharp cut off to the rain chances. Probably not much of anything in the way of any rain west of the Blue Ridge tomorrow but again. Areas of heavy rain near the bay and into southern Maryland. And out onto that used to ensure the beach is what about the weekend afternoon highs likely to be in the low nineties. Both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday. Those looked like it would come with quite a number of afternoon thunderstorms. Little drier weather on
Flood watch canceled for DC area as rain continues
"Traffic I never order in our storm team four forty four cast including some severe weather this morning man of the theme is but wait there's more it was the warning is now for our southern Maryland listeners most of St Mary's county and the southern half of Calvert county you will have the latest severe thunderstorm warning in effect until nine fifteen in particular near Avenue and letter town and they can next bill towards St letter to towards the Bayshore all the way down to about Lexington park and just to the north of Saint Mary's city if you're within that area you have this a new severe thunderstorm warning until nine fifteen a very heavy rainfall maybe some small hail but the most important the damaging wind gusts of a good sixty miles per hour and of course this line has been marching across listening area has a lot of history of with the wind damage a today otherwise the morning that was in effect for prince George's county has now been dropped just a few minutes early if it's now moved out of prince George's county no warning get for in a rental county but none the less on fifty three oh one some very heavy rain gear Crofton and also in your bill we just to the north were bearing down on Davidsonville rather and its racing towards the bay bridge should be reaching the bay bridge itself by about nine ten about nine fifteen this morning this line goes all the way up over Baltimore and of course down towards the nice bridge again if you were a long and west of I ninety five including the capital beltway now you were clear of the severe weather threat you're just getting some lingering rain showers and the falling temperatures is a pretty strong cold front other got rid of the dense fog this morning but it's also caused the severe weather temperatures if you're still in the fifties right now don't get used to them as they say temperatures will be falling to the forties the rest of the day many of us already have done that for the rest of the day watch for those falling temperatures overnight tonight partly cloudy skies low to mid thirties for lows a blustery night tonight especially by comparison and then for tomorrow over the weekend Saturday looks like highs in the low to mid forties same numbers for Sunday and then Monday the next round of rain will be arriving highs then will be in the low to mid fifties down way down to forty six in Haymarket still sixteen Crofton temporarily and it's down to fifty four at Washington Reagan national map the storms were moving through so quickly yes they have and and and that's one reason why we're getting severe weather because the winds aloft along this front the temperature contrast around along this front because of the very strong winds also helping to move this line very quickly from west the east the only positive thing I could think about that is that's helping to mitigate the flood threat at this thing was moving up very very slowly we be having some flash flooding right now publicly in pretty quickly from west to east looking forward to having it added here Matt thank you
Heavy rain continues in DC and Maryland
"Forty degrees here in friendship heights and still quite a bit of heavy rain if you are on the road across the bay bridge in two parts of Maryland eastern shore Delaware we're talking about some heavy rain southern Maryland and points south of Dale city in Virginia getting heavy rain as the system pushes through again forty now in

"A measles scare and Saint Mary's county in southern Maryland yesterday ended with a negative result in testing for the fast spreading disease, but it comes as congress is considering ways to get more parents to vaccinate their their kids Senator rand Paul who is also Dr says vaccines have their place, but should the government have a say on whether people get them. I'm not a fan of government coercion yet, given the choice. I do believe that the benefits of most vaccines vastly outweigh the risks. It is wrong to say that there are no risks. And this is part of the reason why it is very hard to convince the anti vaccine community to
