"I'm very proud. That i was part of the first season of cubs baseball marquee sports network. I was a part of the final sixteen of seventy two years on. Wgn television so those things matter to me. If marquee had started in twenty twenty one. I think it would have been maybe even more difficult to make the move that i did and i'm sure we'll get into the the reasons why but one of the big things was checking off all the boxes the world series. Ring all those years on the superstation. I did eight years with bob. Branly added eight with jim. D and i was part of the marquee launched that that was very important to me. So you mentioned the rhythms the institutional knowledge that at least were afforded as sports broadcasters and reporters right. It's a lot of information every day who got traded who did what who scored what who got hurt but there is this sort of rhythm of well i know after this comes this and then after this comes so last year it wasn't just all the all new information and quarantine rules and protocols but also Just being confused about what was happening in when for you. It's a sixty game season. How much different or maybe not was it for you. To call games recognizing how much more each game mattered or recognizing. And how much did you have to research strategically how they might use personnel differently. Because of the turnaround and all that from the first pitch to the final pitch it felt pretty close to what we had always done with the big exception of half the games when we were at wrigley field in the cubs were on the road. That was an enormous challenge. If we're at one hundred percent in terms of accuracy. When're we're in the ballpark. We may have gotten about eighty five percent which is pretty good when we're not there but that extra fifteen makes a big difference and for instance the alec mills no hitter There were few things. It just nuance wise. You lack when. You're not in the ballpark. But for the most part the games themselves felt pretty close to normal. Everything else leading up to the first pitch was completely different and at times. A little depressing. Just i love j. d. and we became closer this year and again another silver lining. But we were in our own bubble. I never saw our producer never saw I never talked to david. Ross that wasn't through a laptop or via text That part really. It really hit home. Sarah how much of the job is just being around people and having pre-game conversations in the dugout or behind the batting cage or in the press box. I didn't see any broadcasters from other teams so that was incredibly weird. And i didn't like it and i don't wanna go through that again in two thousand twenty one if we can help it. Yeah to your point. I mean how much information is gathered when you're just kind of hanging out talking not for a bit not to record it and then you take that piece of information at builds on something else and eventually comes to play later in something that you're talking about or some piece of knowledge you have. I think also. I was lucky enough to get to. I don't know maybe seven or eight games on the sloan rooftop. My buddies had had the rooftop..

"A pinch i'd be like i'm going straight to dempster. Someone needs to give me something. I need to be nice to me about it. Because i'm feeling like i can't get the thing i need You know. I was also in there for the milton bradley era. So you know there's other people that you're gonna find out where sneaking out of the showers and running away while we all sat around and waited thinking. We were promised that they were coming to talk. I mean it's it's wild in there. I remember very specifically asking milton in the first month. Maybe april of that year at some point. Can you just give me ten minutes on the dugout bench. We'll just chat and he was like. What are you want what you need. I said nothing. I just. You know not not to not for broadcast purposes. Just whatever he said sure and we had a very interesting deep conversation and from that moment on he always just said hi to me. I didn't get a lot of info from him. But again i. I didn't want to just not ever talked to milton bradley. Because of his reputation. I was more intrigued and i think the other part of it is you. Challenge yourself right and You know greg. Maddox was kind of an intimidating personality. But i just one day. I walked up. I said could you show me all the grips on your pitches. And he's like yes. Sure you've got a ball. Flipped him a ball. He's like here's my slider. Here's how i throw my change. Whatever just give me the ball and kind of looked at me like okay. Whatever but then he would come to me later and he would ask me questions about okay this guy taking bp who is this. I've never seen him before with another team. He knew that i knew their their backgrounds. And so it's just like life you just you gotta be open and willing and going back to your dempster point. I agree with you that it's easy to go to guys like him but my relationship with guys like damp was that i didn't actually ask them to do a lot. On camera was more. They were good background people for sure and when they would give me everything i very rarely quoted them so people i'm closest with are actually the people i quote the least if that makes sense yet no it absolutely. Does i think for me. i had a. I didn't have a great introduction to chicago in terms of getting thrown into these locker rooms and clubhouses. It was a lot of the stuff that you that you hear about with women in the industry and i remember i got really uncomfortable and it started to just be. Who's going to be nice and let me interview them. So i can turn in a job. That i'm supposed to be doing versus you know worrying about some of the other bullshit okay. Hold up. we're going to get right back to the interview but a quick aside here. But lenin i are talking about and i'm kind of surprised that he remembers but i do remember talking to about it back in the day early. Twenty s had just moved back to chicago my first job at all at any level working in in clubhouses and locker rooms with mouthpiece sports and wasn't a journalism major. I didn't even switch into working sports. Until i had already moved out to l. a. and was trying to do comedy and improv and stuff and so to be thrown into professional locker rooms in chicago one of the biggest sports markets in the country. So i'm trying to take cues from those around me and and learn sort of how to approach players for questions. When are you part of the very terribly named and certainly needs a new and better name gang situation. Where it's all of..

The brewers stuff for a little while before getting hired a full time for tv again For the marlins and work for them for a couple years before the cubs and i love talking to boob about how he seems to. Just keep right behind you wherever you're headed because he worked for the marlins and the cubs and it's funny. It's there's a shadow there. What was it like a call. In the marlins amazing I would. I would argue with the behind me. I feel like i've after after you. So so boo. Got to the big leagues before i did Yes i was doing tv and he was the number two radio announcer. But when i left. And i'll get back to the marlins for second but when i left for cubs He interviewed for mile job. With the marlins an ended up going to espn and then eventually doing the braves So i you know. We're going to have to argue about whether i shadowed him or he shadowed me but the marlins experience was great because of my age I was the same a main. Mike lal and mike redmond and eventually jeff colin derek. Lee you know. We were all kind of similar age and so that kinda stamps relationships brian banks. Andy fox i think of all these amazing guys in a kevin millar took me under their wing. I actually live next to kevin and his wife my first year with the marlins and he parked his motorcycle in my garage So that i just yeah. I just got the big league treatment from day one and then the next year the marlins go on and win the world series. They were the little engine that could and went through two hurricanes in two thousand four. So i got to the florida treatment and then as you said i got hired by the cubs to come back to the midwest. It's interesting you mentioned the age thing because it's such a double edged sword so there's the you're the same age as them so you connect with them but they may be. Don't think of you as this established Broadcast person i remember being in the clubhouse for the cubs and the locker room for the blackhawks when i first moved to chicago..

"This is my basement barbershop a very blessed to have. What we have here is a mixture of the older. No, my name is Manny Rambos. A report AMERICORPS member now, right for the Chicago sun-times. So this changed the world back today the issue here in the most are. The seventy six. I'm sitting in Sunny Powell's basement barbershop outside it's a human ninety degree day. But down here it's cool and dry said, he's giving me a tour of his instruments. Like a model for. This is like a quarterback. It's amazing. This can last two and a half hour. Or years, Sunny Ran House Barbara Shop on West Sixty Third Street in Inglewood recently closed down to build a new place. Look, COOL These are this is where he's cutting hair these days how? To write. Their modifies everything I have tried to make lose exercise because I'm old. So I grew up on the west side of Chicago and like here on the south side, the barbershop is a refuge Arbizu more than just cut hair. They record history. July Seventeenth Twenty Nineteen Chicago. Sweltering Wednesday in the hottest week of the year. Despite the heat, the city was doing well, gun violence was on a downward trend unemployment was four point, one percent and no signs that global pandemic would end life as we know it. A. Year later, like much of the world, the windy city is in. Crisis. Since February Chicago has lost more than twenty five, hundred people to covid nineteen unemployment has spiked and tens of thousands could face homelessness if the governor does not extend an eviction moratorium. But Chicago has also been gripped by an outbreak of gun violence. In the last eight months, there were more than twenty, five hundred shootings, and as with corona virus the victims have been primarily black and latte necks in communities on the West and south sides. Within these communities, the barber shop is a time honored institution and you're barber can be a source of wisdom and support. This is the ground truth podcast. I'm Charlie Senate. When Manny Ramos reported on the South Shore Barber who was killed by police he wanted to follow up with an audio piece on just how vital the barber can be to a community. These barbershops seem more important than ever in these difficult times, they're struggling to stay open amid covert, but their role in the community manny tells us still feel central. For this episode, we are on the ground on Chicago's south side. One of my first stories for the Chicago sun-times back in twenty eighteen, her reported on the officer involved killing a Burrito gusts is a local barber serves approaching thirty seven year old heritage gust is Saturday within seconds. Augusta's makes a run for it and reaches for his gun. He was shot moments later, residents described Augusta's as a father who worked in a local barber shop and a friend to many Barbara's the next is that connect the broader community and often the gatekeepers to your most intimate details in short you barbara can be closer than family. When a community loses a barber. That void is deep. A year after the death of Augusta's I wanted to talk to Barbara's. Special relationship. So I visited shops in the south and the west side of Chicago My name is Chris also known as C. Blades. We're a headquarters Barbara Studio thirty four Western Park Road Chris's actually my barber. Tell us a little bit about how you and I met. We met a senior prom and that's how long been known each other for about ten plus years now. Chris Guy. Ready for many of my life's milestones. Most recently my wedding he's been in my life longer than most of my relationships, we shared laughter stories and secrets are resolved therapist mile. We have problems, Autar women, problems, kid problems, friend problems you know like everything we hear everything. Live bartenders. Sit here and listen to a lot of stories you want barral known professionally as Jomo the barber runs his in hers at Twenty One to South Polaski. We also do a lot of counseling. Confidante. People. Come in the door and you just never know what they're going to. You know when they leave out of here. Full of laughter good energy. James Client eases back into the chair. Call me baby did. Johnny strings, his real name has had it with the heat wave. He's come into his beard shaved off as jail gets to work. He underscores the significance of the barber shop. Beauty of A. Barbershop because we all need, we need this and community. Where else can we go? There's no places that people can really go to congregate other church. Outside of the Church barbershops beauty shops are fundamental and we have some type of you know history sending Powell described the barber shop as a pillar of the community. But within that larger role, the barbershop develops a bond with customers even as a caregiver person comes in and they have cancer. Everybody in the room. Good. No, it's a woman. She got to cut off in front of everybody. How do you deal with? End of it. You know you gotTa make her feel like she's been more beautiful able. She walked in many cases they are is so intimate. Because she might have told her pairs. The Barbara's spoke with told me, they see their role as a public servant and there's an opportunity to improve the community with each customer that comes through their doors. So if I see a Kia come in with his pants, hanging out, telling me before you get in my, you gotTa pull your pants all the way up you know what I mean so If I, demand respect me then they'll eventually respect theirselves. Try to get into their heads and try to talk to them. The teenagers nowadays, I don't want that's committed the crimes and there's one that's out here running around. We could say one kid at a time. I think that we we are going to justice to the community. So. If we control the environment inside, we can also but essentially controlled environment outside as well because that's the way we set the tone for now, who was a bunch of us here our pants hanging low and we plan a lot of cursing swearing music and we all standing outside smoking cigarettes and stuff like that. Environment will change. So we set the tone for this kind of environment coming here any day. Of Product. It's not just a community that is served by the barber shop. The Barber's themselves are also rewarded sunny. Gave me an example you have gave me income barber shop. They think that you're gonNA treat them certainly. So you have to not treat them Sir Way. Then now you being their brand. So now I learning how to be a better human being an example to the Gabriel's everybody's not to treat you bad. And then be an example to the other Barbara's and the people that. Don't have to ostracize him. Way Because He. So the barbershop becomes a place where you.

"And freed could potentially undermine the Braves chances in the postseason. It's possible. We'll just have to wait and see where they are at the end of the year, they're obviously going to have to be some judgements. And you can understand why Alex and topless invested in Dallas kaikal plugging the rotation of Friday and part to take pressure off those young guys filthy, Phil is at filthy baseball says BUSTER, shouldn't Will Smith of the giants be included as a wanted bullpen piece for the dodgers. And if so woods, eight even consider making that trade. Absolutely he would because he's progressive. He's, he's, you know, he's not stuck in the old ways. That's for sure. If he feels like that his best deal, the best prospects coming back would come from the dodgers than he absolutely would make that trade with Wilson, which makes all the sense of the world because we'll Smith is a free agent years in who cares, right? Law season. You just looking for the best prospects. Whether that comes from the Braves or whether it comes from the Red Sox, or whether it comes from the dodgers, Will Smith going to Los Angeles, perhaps BelAir wherever I heard that before core. Rupert at Corey are underscore twelve. Hey guys with today's hitters hunting. Fastballs are change driven pitchers like review and castio, the future of pitching. It's interesting that certainly something I've heard from evaluators this spring. Remember sell for sano the great coach for the Atlanta Braves is telling me look there. You're gonna see it cycle back a little bit in. Those guys will be the coveted guys over the weekend. When we talked to Dave Roberts about hundred review he mentioned that he refers to him as the outlier because he's so much different than a lot of the other guys pitch accord. I think you're onto something finally Jacoby at Jake underscore leapt wants to know with the Edwin deal done now is d Gordon next. Why not? I mean shoot it it's like the Mariners have all their players in a lot like price to sell everything must go when you see how much money they're eating. And some of these deals like the Jay Bruce deal. They had a ton of money and the deal Dee Gordon is seven million dollars. The rest of this year, thirteen point eight next year. So he's owed about twenty two million dollars, including a buyout. I'm guessing they would have to eat about two thirds of that. But you know what if from the Mariners perspective, you're saving seven million dollars and you know, you're gonna stink for the next couple of years. Why not absolutely good show today? "Because we're tired of getting yelled at for somebody else's work by his would rather get yelled at for the stupid stuff that we do in. This is why the Seattle Mariners play in the two thousand sixteen World Series. What a loser. This is the baseball tonight, Kaur ten and this is obviously week is, I think we've ever had with the power ten it's pretty clear, Josh who the first four should be one's gotta be the dodgers to Astros three twins four Braves. Assuming the order new. No actually BUSTER last week was the most obvious week ever because we had like eight out of the ten in the same place this week. I agree with you on the top three. The top three is obvious. Dodgers Astros twins at four, I have the New York Yankees than the Braves. Come in. Are you serious dead serious attention to what the raves are doing? I know your rent socks fan and you're obsessed with the Yankees and have you've been. We're doing. And how now they're getting health either. Adding more power to their lineup Yankee. Hey, okay. I got the Braves at four. Got the Yankees at five. I got the brewers six cubs seven. What about you? Oh, I have the brewers at seven. I have the raise at six. Yeah. Tampa, the Braves at five. I hope I do have the Braves at five. Yes. Okay. And then eight nine ten I've got raise Red Sox, Cleveland number ten is starting to play better getting their pitching in order. They are. They are playing better. I have a confession to make I need to name Indian snow. I'd, I have the Indians at nine I forgot about the cubs. So I have the raise at sticks. Go ahead and put the cubs at seven, oh my God rulers at eight the Indians at nine the Red Sox Bockel total, Mike. What a loser. I have a confession to make. So I was obviously up until, you know, one thirty last night watching red type. And then after there's a game like that you need some time to, to calm down. Yeah. Let the let the adrenaline leave your system so I was flipping around, and there's this documentary on about the, the Donner party in boy, let me tell you, if you're not familiar with the Donner party, not the kind of party, you wanna be invite. Added to the snacks there left something to be desired. Oh, listen to you. Yeah. The Donner party. I think that's, that's the Mets front office. Right. Just kidding just kidding. Bleacher tweets. All right. Buster Rena was up late watching the twins and Red Sox game as I was then instead of watching that documentary, she sent in a Bleacher tweet, she wants to know horse dark horses that you think could emerge from monster. Second-half perhaps Yordan Alvarez, the Red Sox. Maybe Mike trout or knowing are an auto. Did you say the Twitter joke? I played unreal. The other day, I missed it. Oh, it was her birthday. Did you know she mentioned on Twitter? And so she went to the ballpark, and she passed passed a stand where they were selling concession stand where they selling the boom stick. No. Yeah. And she tweets out, fifty retweets, and I get one. And I saw that. And I'm like she. Tweets. Oh man. And so I was just laughing I retweeted it and she got like two hundred and she wanted to having to try to eat, one of those things. Oh my God. I can't match. She probably hasn't eaten since to answer her question. You know, I like captain obvious. But Nolan are not good. Lord. Okay. I, I was looking at this morning at his current pace are not will finish the season with two hundred seven heads, sixty one walks eighty three strikeouts. So think about that eighty four extra base hits eighty three strikeouts. More extra-base than strikeout extra-base hits and strikeouts. One hundred twenty two runs a hundred and thirty five RBI amazing season. He's putting together. No question about it. Eric E. Another loyal Bleacher. Tweeter is next. "There is no doubt that he could absolutely roll out there. Like from Halloween full goal. Remember Jerry Cheever's for the Boston Bruins have stitches all over as mask. Yeah. Be match. Do we could see max do that, too? And he he's that way we gotta we gotta keep playing here from Michigan. The shortstop BUSTER who couple of weeks ago, broke his pinky in a game sliding into a bag the athletes, Reiter came out and couldn't pop it back in alternate. You said tape it up, and I will play. And he has its it has not been set yet he continues to play with the pinky that remember, Larry bird's pinkie, finger would bend the Ronald spent the wrong way this guy's fingers bent the wrong way. He's playing a lot of times I think our baseball players. Don't, don't get the credit for playing through pain, because we're always reporting, you know, L bleak injury nagging hamstring. And sometimes, I think people look at baseball players and cast them in the light of not able to deal with pain. That's just not true at all the most people wouldn't be going to work. I think if they had to deal with most of the things that these players deal with the idea, you're trying to bunt, and then you bust, your nose is, is just not good max sure would not surprise me if he pitches at all. That, that is so like that is. So max sure. That's just perfect. Yeah, exactly. He's gonna find some really strong aspirin. And he's gonna go out there and pitch with whatever protected device he needs and last one four give me thirty seconds on this. I saw this yesterday and thought he the White Sox announced that they will extend netting guaranteed rates field to the foul poles. And what I thought was okay. It's over, like dominoes have started to fall and now they're going to venture fall to all thirty teams. What do you think? That was my tweet, you know for weeks ago. If one does it, they all do it. I believe the tech, the Texas Rangers in the new ballpark of announced when they build it, they will have netting extending all the way down. So, yeah, that's how that's how baseball that's how most groups operate when you're doing the smart thing and the right thing. It's really hard to stand on the other side of that line, when there is no argument against it. It's just really difficult to be the lone wolf when you're howling, and the words and sounds coming out of your mouth, don't make sense to the masses you wanna stand over there, buffoonish. Not extend that's that's great to teams have done it. Pretty soon ten pretty soon twenty pretty soon twenty eight and you, you wanna be wanna be the one, you know, you wanna be bad guy. Okay. Be that guy. Good you this is the beginning of the end of not having nets. Yeah. This way, do you want to be the executive of the team? That's you know, one of one. One or two or three teams that doesn't header knitting down to the foul pole when a little girl winds up in hospital. No. You don't wanna be that guy and they're not going to be that guy. And that's why I think we'll see that all next year with thirty teams. All right. Carl have fun in Omaha. Thank you guys. Feeds time inside heat on baseball tonight. Their gold covers the St Louis cardinals for the Saint Louis post dispatch, and, and Eric welcome to the show. Again. Thanks for having me. All right. I feel like that. I have to give context for the cardinals because a lot of what we're going to talk about is gonna feel like doom and gloom when you look at the standings as morning in the National League central cardinals at thirty seven and thirty five and their two and a half games out of first place. So it's possible within a week, they would be in first place in the National League central and we'd be seeing rainbows right alongside the arch and Saint Louis, and everything would be fine. But certainly when you're around the team, and I'm not a rounded nearly as much as you are. But we've had him on Sunday night baseball a few times the last couple of times you can tell like in their clubhouse with the folks in the staff..

"I l the team meeting and they went out and won the managers Buck Showalter guys like that. They know that Jose altuve AWOL return to the. Lineup today. John Carlos Stanton returned to the Yankees lineup last night and curly got a big cheer when he stepped in for his first play to parents and later in the game when he struck out with runners bakes. He got booed. Welcome back to New York. Expect nothing less. That's tremendous by the Yankee fan. This is this is not going to be easy by the way, I know you've discussed it in light of the Encarnacion deal. I think that we will look back on this as the greatest lineup assuming health that we've ever seen offensively, I think all the forces beyond the players, and they are the first component of it. You're talking about baseball's that are a little bit harder now. And the boss line further for the time that this lineup when they are all on the field together. I think you can favorably compare this offense to any offense that we've ever seen Yankees cardinals Red Sox Mariners in their heyday. I this will to me be the best one that I would put up against any other one. There's, there's no doubt about it. And I, I do I really, I really believe that I've kind of looked back at, you know, at the Yankees teams in the late nineties, I've looked at the gas house, gang. I've looked at some of those Yankee. Teams had all the stars on it. There is no I don't think any way to compare the firepower that this group has to any other ones, especially given. We're in we are now in again in a huge home run era. Yeah. We gotta dinner bet then because I don't think in the end. I think one one we get through October look back and all and, and, and our belief will be, you know what that trae didn't work out like an intended, because it made the line of two. Right handed too many strikeouts. He didn't translate in the postseason. Okay. For sure. I'll give you give you the strikeouts. That's that's going to happen. But I, I would put that let's see. I agree. What we'll bed dinner on it? I mean, okay, we're ready to go. All right. Now this was one of the stranger stories that were ever going to talk about what happened with the major league baseball, umpires union Twitter account yesterday, the backstory in this, the run-up to it the context on Friday, excuse me on Sunday. Manny Machado was injected from the Padres game after arguing a cold strike three. He got right in the face. The home plate empire Bill Welke. He fired his bat in on Monday. Major league baseball announced that Machado for his actions, which they turned to be aggressive was suspended for one game. And he was fined Manny in response to that gave an interview in which he basically told reporters, I've never seen anybody. Get get suspended for arguing balls and strikes. And I suspect, that's the reason why someone involved in the Twitter account of the major league baseball umpires OC decided to send out this tweet yesterday which took everybody by surprise the wording on it. Any Machado received a one game suspension for contact with an empire over balls and strikes? And violently that's in caps that word throwing his bat against backstop with absolutely no regard to anyone safety violence in the workplace is not tolerated and offenders are dealt with severely, an even made examples of for the good of its employees as well as the company itself. Alf is this truly what MLB wants to teach our youth? And then the hashtags that follows. Carl got a lot of attention. Hashtag disappointed. Hashtag lead by example, has tag that appreciate it has tag violence has temper tantrum it cetera et cetera et cetera. This guy huge backlash and social media yesterday were fans are saying, oh, yeah. What about angel? Or what about Joe west major league baseball back last talking about how is inappropriate response from the empire's union?.

"He's a he's a superstar type talent. We've got a lot of guys that you, you kind of need to stop and watch his strength is the ball far and look the entire White Sox team. Currently is playing so. Well, Lucas g Lido tonight I don't think he's lost a start on the road. I love Jason been any for what he did there. It's not lost on the cubs fan or the White Sox fan for sure. And it's, it's good to see, you know, rent area and the White Sox playing well for, I think, for years, I certainly have we've been wondering, because they have so much talent when, when is this going to gel, and it feels like it's starting to Joe which a real happy for the White Sox and their fan base. It really does. They get they get some big talent there, really, really could be good a couple of years, really. I can't wait for Michael. Back to come back next year to either high end talent who you know, at Tommy, John surgery last year. Look, it's a running debate in New York. I'm sure within the Mets front office. How good of a manager Mickey Callaway yesterday, he managed like an old pro. He held a team meeting or certainly was involved in a team meeting that they had, and it was pitching that night Carl Jacob degrom. That's isn't that the old unwritten rule if you're going to hold a team meeting do it right before your as pitches. And Jacob degrom gray last night. One thing about Mickey Callaway, whether you like him as a manager or not. He ain't dumb. And he, he, he knows like I think Bobby Valentine every other manager has known. Yup. There's two things already races on the mound. Or you're playing a team that's having your like the Orioles like we're going into a series of the Orioles. Let's have a team meeting before we do that. And we take two or three and the team meeting work, you know, I it is it is his nearest year for thing you can get with the Graham on the mound. It would've been a nightmare of God forbid to Graham left after three innings with some injury that didn't happen. And the same way that he law is becoming musc- for the White Sox, or will be, honestly, Pete Alonzo's the same way with the Mets, you know. Yeah. And I know is someone who worked as a beat writer for a decade. That's like red meat for the beat writer the easy column..

"It's the Ravi train with Carl Ravitch ravaged, of course, the host the baseball tonight, play by play man for ESPN and Carl you in Omaha. And I give you rhetorical question. It feels like what's happening today? I say while touching the brim of my Vanderbilt cap. That's the game to watch. We have that one right around one o'clock eastern, one o'clock, local, two o'clock eastern Vanderbilt Mississippi State last year super regionals to walk off, and then an extra inning victory one nothing game this year. And the SEC tournament, and Kumo rocker, who, of course, the pitcher for Vanderbilt who struck out nineteen and a no hitter, his last start. We'll start today. So we, we are excited about that. We got Mike Martin's game. Later tonight could be his last game or the Florida state greed continues for a guy that's been coaching for forty years and been here seventeen times and hasn't won one yet we've had real competitive games. You know this has been a little bit different polish World Series. It's not to say that parody has arrived in the college baseball level. But all the games have been decided by two or fewer runs yesterday's game got delayed because of rain. It's a four one advantage for Louisville over Auburn. So we've, we've had real exciting games. We've had incredible pitching. I think Donna backstory licking their chops. Tommy, Henry guy from Michigan. The other day went out and threw a complete game one hundred pitch effort and he was he was fantastic and the athletes here to BUSTER, you know, major league baseball often talks about its desire to have a little more. A lot more diversity in the game you look around the fields here in Omaha, and it's a little bit different this year, and the coach of Michigan. Eric back at you was the coach of the year was interviewed by Chris button. And, you know, the thing he said is I want my baseball team to look like the United States of America three of their star players or African American and every every team here as as dipped into cities, inner cities RBI programs other programs. It's it's been a real interesting exciting fun college World Series so far we're only halfway through. Yeah. I love that quote. When I saw that I thought, what a what a cool thing to say, it'd be and boy, what a recruiting pitch to write to parents like, oh, no, no, no. Yeah. And it was a rate. You know this to BUSTER, he he you know, he he's got his teeth sharpened with seven years at Vanderbilt. He was in assistant under Corbin. And I think while Vanderbilt and Stanford and others. Oftentimes are, are criticized if you will, by some of the other schools or fan bases they to go there. That's that's where we're Corbin went back in. Oh, three. When literally they were getting changed. You know, when a trailer as baseball group and that group has taken off and you've been able to witness it firsthand as Vanderbilt guy. But look that was that was his mantra. And, and back, it took it and so many other coaches of taking this. Well so you've seen that, but he was groomed. Advani under hundred ten. Yeah. He's affected. Amazing change. Tim Corbin has Vanderbilt no doubt about it. All right. Let's go with the express today. We got a bunch to get to some of its funds. Some of it is weird. Some of it's not so fun. Let's start with the fun stuff baseball. How about Illinois and his former cubs? Aspect traded for they contain a couple years ago. I game in Wrigley field last night. Carl give a listen to this. Call from Jason Bonetti, our fringe as Manetti, trolling the cubs at the back end of this give a list of the sound of Illinois Jimenez, hitting this home run. Two weeks. Wrigley creek bed on that swing and still ruled it out of the park, the Jeter in his hands. Thanks. Is going to be as in Bonetti did trolling the cubs. They're carl. Thanks cubs. After a broken bat home run give the White Sox, the win. He was pretty neat..

And he continued to contribute in the bottom of the seventh inning driven deep to left field. One straight games to the keys. Lebron does yard it five three eighths. It Edwin Encarnacion had a milestone. Driven Detroit field. It's his first. Yankee run pick six three win the second game of the series extending their lead in the American League, the Indians play the Rangers, the unions have been doing well of late and in the top of the seventh inning. They had some fun. Every that wrist doesn't feel good. He turns around it does something like that. So believable, why I don't know if it was a wrist or whatever, but he did that on his double. And now he doesn't on the home runs. Unbelievable. But Jake Bowers blast one outta here is ninth old, one of the year, and it's his third hit of the night, a swing and another. Hi. Dr price center field get up on it. Claros. Lower deck in right center and the Indians. Go back toback rub. Burto Peres hits number twelve and the NBN's are pummeling the Rangers here tonight, nine to one and every time he homers, it's a new single season record for Roberto Perote's swing and dry deep Weser..

The royals played the Mariners whitmire afield who's been talked a lot about within the industry about as a possible trade. Target though Dayton Moore. The royals general manager came out the other day and said it would take a boatload prospects to pry him away from the royals. He had a good night and I'll ask night three one pitch. Swings and placid to deep left field way back in long gone. Three run Homer for Whitmer afield his ninth on the year and the royals Doug. Double their lead. It is six to nothing. Six ten case ESPN the royals a win this game nine to nothing the dodgers lost on Monday on Tuesday. They got off to a better start Peterson Stokes. That sounds asking. The lead off home run Brigitta Peterson. Donatus on the dodgers television network. The dodgers would go on to win nine nothing because Clayton Kershaw was tremendous seven scoreless innings and he talked about that after the game. I get a little better as a game on. You know, I didn't land my curveball very well. But started getting it a little bit better better there towards the end and. You know, made some okay pitches when I needed to it wasn't. It was a little bit of a grind tonight. But fortunately, you know I got some got some big plays defensively belly with that huge play there in the whatever ending that was. And then, you know, few other hard hit balls, right out, guys. But, you know, get that early lead and just try and take care of it. Yeah. It was fun. I mean I wish I could have been out there but had rust and Ritchie picked me up and got the here, Kelly say it's time for dodger baseball, so yeah, they do a great job here. Like bobble head stuff. They let your kids involved and they love it. They have a blast with it. So it's fun. You can't not she's right there. But yeah, it was. Yeah, you try to try and stay in focus as best. I can but yeah, a little a little bit of pride there for sure. It doesn't it doesn't seem that long ago. But then I think when you think about all the years in between, you know, it kinda does seem like a long time ago. So I don't know how to explain it. But, you know, your, your career goes fast. You know, just just it's a blink of an eye and your your next baseball player a lot longer than your baseball player. So I try not to. Think about it too much. But yeah, I mean when you think about that stuff, it, it, it seems like it does go fast. Yeah, he was referring to the fact that he's kids were there for a his bobblehead night, and Richhill actually before the game was playing catch with his son. Those were the references there. The Padres played the brewers Francisco Mahia was recalled recently from the minor leagues kind of at a crossroad in his career trying to show whether or not he can stay as a big leaguer. You had a good night on Tuesday night, right hander said, oh, two. Deep centerfield rush. Transis go. Tobacco. That's how you add on. From two nothing to four. Nothing josh.
