Ken Hartman: Educating Young People on the Constitution

"Well it is a great honor for me and my family And I want you to tell the American people about our community salutes Sure So you are right 14 years ago I recognized when I was serving on our local school board here in south Jersey and that's a whole nother nightmare story but in any case I recognize at that time that we were doing nothing to recognize now the kids were graduating from high school and who were in listing directly in the military I'm an old soldier myself but I was an officer So I held a dinner for all the kids in our community back then 14 years ago and now 14 years later we have our community ceremonies all over the country and not only do we recognize these young people who are enlisting in the military But we also educate them on the U.S. Constitution because they've taken a sacred as you we all know to protect and defend it So it's a twofer It is giving them and their moms and dads that recognition that they rightfully deserve After all only 23% of all high school seniors could even qualify to serve in the military these days And as you know and I know you've talked about it we have a we face a major national security crisis right now as our military is unable to list enough young people to sell us ranks So that's what we do We have ceremonies We educate them we celebrate them we educate them on the U.S. Constitution

"A woman's place is in the brew house. I forgotten history of alewives, Brewster's, which is and CEOs. I love it. And I do have a couple events planned around the country already and locally. My launch event on September 21st, and everybody is invited. Please come, it's going to be really a lovely event. Awesome. At a bar called keg and kitchen. Oh yeah. And you know it? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Number three. Keggin kitchen in haddon township in Camden county is September 21st, and also that weekend, I'm going to be doing something at Doc street in Philly. And I have one more Philly event for that weekend to announce and then I also am going to be doing something that's already on the books, but we don't have a date yet. Third state. If you want to plug the rest of the places where people can see you or read your stuff? Oh, okay, sure. So the best place to find my staff is on Forbes on the beer and spirits contributor to Forbes. And it's probably easiest just to Google my name and Forbes, and then that'll come up. I try to cover, well, I do cover business and policy and social issues as they relate to fear. And my name is just all my name. Go ahead. Although I probably, well, whatever. It's taran urin, TA, RA, and you are IN and you can find me in a lot of other random places because I'm a freelancer, but that's a good start. Awesome. Thank you so much for coming on with us. Thank you. Welcome to the Bucharest. Thanks. And hopefully it's not the last on your own. I hope not. Okay. Thank you so much. And everyone have a good night and we will see you soon. Bye bye. Okay, we're back. Hope you enjoyed that story. One of the first interviews with taran about her book. And we talked about a lot of stuff. And we're going to talk, you know, part of the, you know, and I keep referencing some of the some of the sections of the book and the one thing that I loved was about you jumping into the freezing cold water in Philly, why don't you tell that story? Yeah, that's a great story. Does it start off with you being sober? Probably not. Like in Finland. So I took a press trip through southern Finland and. Spent some time after it was done with a woman named Margie Kaiser, who is basically the sati queen of Finland, sati master sati president, and saatchi is this ancient. Northern European style that does not use hops and it boils the beer on rocks. And so this woman has hops. Is it like a groot or it is like a grit? It tends to be very high in alcohol. And the brewing method is different. And just to get, I don't know how tech we can get here. The answer do they substitute something else like anything? Yes, thank you. Okay. Okay. And so I stayed with her for a little bit. And they have the sona tradition in that part of the world. And so it's very much alive and well. And so she showed me her various sati brewing facilities around her grounds, and we tried a few variations. And you drink sati, I know I'm digressing here for a second, sorry. It's about the socket that I had wanted to store. And so the Finland, yes, carry it all ties. So you drink sati out of a small wooden barrel that you can pick up and it's got two wooden handles that stick up from it. So you drink it, you know how you drink miso soup out of the bowl like that. This, you pick up with its two handles on either side and you bring it up to your mouth and you drink it that way. Animal, I love it. And so we did sauna, she lived on a Lake, lives on a Lake. And has this long dock and this like treehouse? Like a treehouse and awesome treehouse. Right above the Lake and she's got like a table set up there and silver candles sticks and sati in the refrigerator there that she's brewed and she prepares the sauna for us and they have like these big fur branches, they like pull the coals with and whatnot the rocks and we sounded and the tradition is to go naked and I had just met her. She's so engaging like nobody would feel uncomfortable naked around her. She's so much fun. And so we sounded and then the tradition is to jump in the cold Lake when you're done and so I did it and I actually have this she took a really cute picture of me from land and I'm all the way down at the end of the dock and I had to run and get a head start and she got me right in the air as I jump into the water and naked. You can see my touch up in the distance. That's awesome though. That is such a transformative experience. You know, I mean like especially like Americans were less prone to be naked, especially around strangers and then to run naked, hot into the cold, water, I just like that sounds amazing. But wait, see, we're all Friends. We're all actually naked right now. Listen, you know, they didn't need to know that, but here we are. Again. We deal with we deal with honesty on this. You know, as far as all the countries that you visited, you know, aside from the United States, what's your favorite that you've been to because you've been all over the world many times over? You know, I haven't been there since I was in college, but I think I have to say my favorite country is Greece. Wow. And I've been there. I was there as a kid with my family, and then I went back, yeah, I think one time I think I've only been there twice. And..

"Less of customers, it was detrimental to everybody, man. Well, it was hard, but we see that. That's insane. Really back into you guys but you guys survived that and thrived again. Huge new blue House. Yeah, when you guys enjoyed. That was huge. When you guys entered the limited occupancy inside, then we had the octopus outside too. So it was kind of a great wash. Again, we purchased those back in like July. You purchased them before. That was really brilliant one of our thinking. And at the time, the money was a lot of money. We didn't want to purchase them. Sure. We need to buy them now. What's a decision? But they weren't allowed until November. Yeah, but it was brilliant. Murphy just decided that week before we got rid of the tent, and then we started putting the tents up. We put the eagles up. It was like within a week. So every day was a new day as the time we had to go. When quarantine happened every day was a new day, he had to readapt every day. What are we doing? What are we doing with today? One week we had a time. And a whole production put it up. It was a lot of money. Outside, you got to get an expected and then two weeks later and then the tens down. That was probably the most something where we actually wasted money on those. Alexis, what you were saying? No, they don't want to say that the igloos were brilliant. Something that's interesting that nobody thought of before coming. They're so brilliant. You know what? Next march Alexis is going to come and take us. Everybody did the work for me. All the joys of Legos. I didn't realize until COVID and this was a thing. Again, hashtag nerd alert. Hence in New Jersey are only allowed between April and November. Because of sto load and it was not a thing that we had to worry about. Again, until COVID. Again, we didn't know about, but so when you guys introduced those igloos, again, I'm standing on the sidelines on my insta or like my Facebook going, oh, that's brilliant. I'm doing that. We planned on doing that. Covert or not. Yeah. We planned on getting eagles. We were going to buy them regardless of the COVID. Right. Then we could spend more money. So then we're just thankful we bought them when we did. And again, we didn't get them until we should have. We didn't get them. 'cause y'all kind of led the industry in that way. I remember that. Yeah. It was very forward thinking and folks. We made it fun, you know? People that wanted to go out in the winter. Have fun with a deer. Right here to laying down. Now I know we talked about naming the brew equipment. You also named your sanitizer too. Oh, my sanitizer gun. Yeah, yeah. Is it Dorothy? No, I never Dottie. Dottie. There's a Bruce Willis fans out there. That was the sanitizer going for the inside of the table. Peroxide time missed thing that they burst it out. It wasn't up to the asteroid from the hit movie Armageddon because much of the asteroid. In which there was no escape. I love you. I love you, daddy. She never says that in that movie. Why are you looking at me when you said that? Bitch. From which there is no. He saw the ponytail. Right now. As long as he is prepared, he's not looking at you. He's looking at the hair. Oh my God. You do not. You do not ruin every stamper is a saint first of all. He is a saint and when AJ frost is written on that oil, you can get the hell you want. But until your name is very similar, this is my orders. An episode of seed. This guy knows all names. I can't help but remember quotes from all movies to me. As you can see, you're like, Dottie after Bruce Willis. And him, we should have a showdown. We should have a trivia showdown. For quotes, a movie quotes. I got money on Cody because he's my best friend. Ellen John concert with John Lennon. I was there. He was doing so. Was he there yet? We were talking about it. We were at the very end of this party. We're here. There's two people here from that concert. How many more people are there? I know you and Mike. I wasn't there. Well, it's 19. What do you mean? But he was 15. He was 15. I was a little bit older than him. All right. All right, so he was 15. But we were just talking about two people here from that concert, man. Canadians say that around? No. How many people that were older? But it would just say they were there, but they weren't. Right, now he says the same thing. No. He starts the tickets up too. That I don't have. What was your first concert? Fiona Apple, electric factory. Really? I was 13, which made it not going here, are we? Wow. 1996. Oh, man. Cody, Cody's young. He's 30. Backstreet Boys? The first concert was Mike posner. Who the fuck is this? So you had a bad day. You went and saw him? No, that's not him either, but no. I'm trying to remember the song that my poser came out with, but I'm not sure it's first. He went to concert, but do you know what it is? He should have been quiet on that one. You got to turn your Neil Young card down there. It's worse, actually. I want to hear mine. Do you want to hear mine? Mike captain and tennille..

"House, right around the corner from us right next was 13 child. Yes. For them to get there. 13 child Toms River brewing. Ross brewing. Ross brewing is here. I saw Avalon group. They're up this way, right? Yeah, Belvedere farm or something, whatever they are. I forget that's another bell haven forms, whatever they are. I don't know. That sounds like a winery. It sounds like, doesn't it? It sounds like a wine. It does sound like a winery. I happen to see the seed up there today too. Yeah. I keep hearing great things about their beer. They're the ones right in ace phenomenal. Phenomenal phenomenal being. Right, so we'll go see them. They have come see us. What are they going to have on tap here? They get their IPA they got here and I can't remember what else they had. I can't remember what I'll say out on tap there. But all the beers were good. Yeah. You know, I went there and every one of them was good. That was actually very good afternoon because we went to the sea. My wife doesn't drink beer. So we went around the corner to little water, distillery. Okay. And we had mixed drinks there, so it was. It was actually a very good day. I'm glad I wasn't driving. That was not yesterday. I know. That was a few weeks ago. Oh, nice. Very nice. That's why we love designated drivers. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Always love Dixon. Yes. Designated drivers. Or designated drunk drivers, that's what my husband is. But it happens. So Vic, what are your thoughts on this whole layout? You know what? This is so wide open. I don't know if he considered to do this in future years in future years because this isn't really a month that he always has it. Right. Normally, early spring. Or so, but this is like there are people aren't going to be crowded into each other and I said, this is really a very, very nice layout. The only thing you got to worry about all the time is the weather. Tonight, you can't control it. For tonight and tomorrow, it's supposed to be really hot, isn't it? Hot and sunny. Well, 80 and sunny. Right. It'd be great if there was clouds. And a breeze, yeah. I have a bracelet. The breeze helps. You have to make sure the breeze is going the right way. Right. So you don't get the bugs. Yeah. It's a lot of walk in. Which is fine. I mean, because then I think people won't give us drunk. As quick. You're going to be doing a lot of walking. They'll walk it off. Right. I've probably walked around the whole place twice already. I got like 7 miles on that I've walked today. So I'm definitely getting my exercise. Oh, good. Yeah, I see I'm not for exercising. And I haven't that's why you're hungry. I haven't drank any beer yet, either. I know. But now you can. But Eric just said, that's probably why you're hungry. You burned off all that? It might be. Okay, you need that protein? I need a cheesesteak. Golf date open up. He keeps eyeing him up. That's all he keeps talking about. I'm looking at the guys at vagabond and I could see them, right? I can think I can see you running through the field. To get there. Run through the field and get something to eat. You know what? I want to see Chris from shoreside brewing. Right? And one of the guys there, Mike from or show ales. He's a homebrewer from up in mammoth county. He had an uni pizza oven there. We see them? Yeah, they're a little tabletop pizza oven. I definitely. There's definitely my Christmas present. Not an easy bake. Why often a kids are always saying, what do you want for Christmas? And I said, I don't know. That's what I want. Did you text her and tell her? She's going to find out. You know what? You know what? My birthday's next month. Happy birthday. Yeah, thank you. I lost my birthday celebration because my granddaughter turns one. Oh. Like a week before. But the 13th or 14th? Mine is the 13th. Yeah, look at that. That's how I remember. That's my dad's birthday. That's right, that's right. Yeah, mine is the 13th and my son and my granddaughters is the 7th. Okay. Yep, you're out now. Well, I don't care. Honestly, I don't care. I don't blame you. Yeah, I don't really care. As long as we got that. But that's a good birthday present. I just remind. Text her right now. He's going to get it for the granddaughter. She will be able to use this. You want to just put order it yourself? You know what? The thing is, I'm going to tell her, I'm going to tell her what I want and she's going to tell me, we'll go order it. Yeah. Not wrong with that. Look, now the sun's coming out. Wow. Got bright. Yeah, what time we working on here at 6 O three? Oh, were they pouring yet? Still two hours, they'll kick off. What time is early? Is there only like 7 30 VIP? And 7 o'clock for pictures. 7 o'clock for pictures of what? You didn't get a little thingy? Well, Mike, Mike came around and gave us a thing. Oh, that's right. Where's that picture going to be? Sand castle, right? I think it's coming from the up there. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know either how they're taking it. I figured you would know. It'll be in the cup. No one ever sees me in those pictures. What's that? Let me see. Well, I can't see you. Sure. You had to get one in, didn't you? I set him up for it. He really did. No we need tasting glasses. Yeah, we don't have it. They're coming, hopefully. If not, we'll go steal them from the brewery on ten. Start. Sorry, John said he had some. Well, we'll get them from you. Yeah. That's awful to say, we're stealing from the charity ten. We're not going to steal will borrow them. Right. I'll give it back. From the charity. We'll give it back. I'll give it back to you after I'm done. Exactly. I'll give you a dollar for it. How much for that $1? We got to wrap it up. I got to wrap it up sign there. We might be on to some beer. From the manager, apparently. All right, this is the pregame before the pregame. Before the game. Before the game. The director should have wrapped it up. Okay. All right. Cheek. Chop chop. Cheers. Cheers. It was certainly a pleasure. Sitting with the rest of rob's team. Not necessarily rob. But sitting with the rest of the team, it certainly was a pleasure. Do you get the impression that he said it before? And I sort of feel a kinship with Amy on that show. Amy's the one on that show who asked the ridiculous questions like I do. And I'm certainly not the beer person. I don't know about beer. I like beer, but I don't know anything about beer. The problem is she's becoming a beer person. She drinks her beer. She knows her beer. She's just like me. She grew up. Yeah, she grew into it. Right. We have to find somebody else that doesn't really know beer that we can teach beer to. She still has some dumb questions though. She's not out of the dumb question word yet. It's not over. I.

Ida Lashes Northeast With Tornadoes and Severe Flooding

"As we mentioned remnants of hurricane ida have been spawning heavy rain tornadoes and life. Threatening conditions in the mid atlantic northeast. A tornado warning was even posted here in new york city. Major highways are flooded with cars and buses trap and the subways are shutting down in what the national weather service says is the city's first ever flash flood emergency. Several large tornadoes were reported north of philadelphia and in south jersey. As we mentioned new jersey's governor phil murphy has just declared a state of emergency. Some neighborhoods had to be evacuated cars and buses there were stranded in floodwaters and now thousands in the region are without power earlier this afternoon. What twister roared through. Parts of annapolis maryland pulling down trees and power poles and in louisiana. Where this same storm system tore apart the state's power grid. Some low lying communities remain largely underwater. Many hospitals in the state are still running on generators and again today. The governor warned evacuated residents knocked comeback yet. The water system is really poor. Electricity is non-existent. Communications actually started getting a little bit better today. We have not figured out the fuel situation. Don't come back before the paris tells you that they are ready to receive you because you're just going to create another demand on a system that can't withstand the demand that currently has for more. We welcome to the broadcast joe. Valenti is the emergency management director for jefferson parish louisiana. Now take a look at this map. Jefferson parish stretches from new orleans the new orleans shoreline with lake pontchartrain. All the way down to grand isle in the gulf joe. Thank you for being with us. How are you faring. And how are the people in jefferson parish tonight. Well i mean. District type of circumstances are not really new to us but doesn't been difficult when he completely lost the grid one hundred percent of the power. So it's made it very difficult process to affect any rescues

John Alite, the Mob's Enforcer

"The year was nineteen ninety. Carol alight was terrified the security alarms at their South Jersey home bled while the family rottweilers barked for Roche. Ously worse yet. She swore she could see armed men hiding in the woods from the window. She called her husband. John in a panic. Twenty eight year old. John Alight the right hand man of John Gotti. Junior was away from the house when he received the call without so much as a second thought. He ditched his friends and hopped into his corvette. As a lights raced home. He wanted which of his many enemies could be off to him that night. The most likely seemed Tommy. Karate patera earlier that year karate had killed one of a lights friends over a twenty thousand dollar dispute. Rumor around town was that a light was next on his list when I got home. He snuck in from the back and grabbed a revolver and an Uzi submachine gun. He slipped into the dark woods and lurked toward the men waiting to ambush him instead. A light took them by surprise unloading the Uzi like an eighties. Action Star and after a brief firefight. The attackers fled. It was too dark to see that night but the next morning a light. Check the woods to see if anyone had been killed though. He didn't find any bodies he did. See plenty of blood. He knew a message had been sent a few days later a lights boss. John Gotti called a light to a sit down with Tommy Karate. Godley declared that their feud was over. No more fighting when the meeting finished on the two men had its world cars. A light turned and said to Tomi. Nothing settled I'm still GONNA kill Ya.

Battle of The Brews Live from The Landmark In Glassboro

"The reason why we're here today is that we have a battle the bruise news and we've invited her kyle's invited us to be here and we also have the people from three threes eighty sand. Taco brewing company and ax narrow now and we're going to have a beer off. I guess what we're having more than one. I assume the battle of the beer's battle the beer so we're going to anybody. WHO's trying to beers out there. We're going to see which ones are favor one at two o'clock. I think we're GONNA it will cub cut the two o'clock. You know there's no hard times here not in fact. We're currently forty five minutes later than we thought we were wrong. Jersey time. It's a Sunday. What do you expect. It's a I think it's probably one of the last Sunday's before football so a before Labor Day yeah well. That's true. That's when you know Ostlund. Where most of us live we get our city back. We get our city back but that's okay doc kyle. This is a pretty interesting idea that you had here so tell me a little bit about marketing Americana and their affiliation with craft craft glass bro landmark been here forever. It's really went through a lot of changes since its inception but you know the crab craft beer scene really flew up probably ten years ago and I think that the concept here's all along with that we went from having hope nope twelve fear of domestic threats twenty total realize that there's a huge demand here and we expanded that to be forty draft beers and to have a strong focus towards the area what South Jersey Breweries Tristate Breweries Philadelphia's obviously twenty five minutes away feels local to me. US Asfaw lived there as well so very local but that's really been our been a big part of that. We are going to be a beer. I lace harmonies float around beard. You know we want you to have some beers control the food you know spirits. They have a place here as well but you know I think that the heart of what our concept is is it is about the beer. It's nice to see because one of the things that's happened in the craft beer landscape is that you guys were early adopters this obviously this is. How many years is this for the festival. This is the seventh year so there was kind of a whole here for a long time with people that would have craft beer and I guess with the Robo Abo- innovation that's happened here. There's been influx but you guys one of the early adopters and do a great job with it. I noticed that you have a good representation from all over the state in Philly here which is nice and you know they do have they do have some big name beards that you know that need to have which were not averse to. We are Bir see not script but it's nice to see somebody as big as you guys. It has such a force here in Gloucester County and surrounding area really adopt the craft and kyle. You have a great list of local beers share. A great tap list of WHO actually decides on which Beers on tap is that you have a committee. I'm not that involved in the beer selection here to give a lot of the credits Nikki Nado who is here today he was the one running around getting all this stuff organized for us he does most the selections dealing with the Reps and the local guys play into his taste buds so a lot of credit on that Mitzi great job nick so when you guys are when you start to craft beer one of the things that is a not an issue but is your servers and I know that I've been here a bunch of times your servers actually know how to describe era so as the director of operations that something you guys put in the plan for your for your locations Yep. It's executed properly. All of our staff has to go through a relatively relatively rigorous training all what we offer terms of not just food spirits opinion beer and being able to actually describe the different styles is pretty very important and being able to lead people in the right direction a lot of a lot of novice beer drinkers are looking for certain flavor and you have to be able to know the list we talk yeah. We talk about this all the time so key tell me what tastes like coors light and then direct them to the Water Fountain then but there is. There's something here for everybody. Craft Beers expanded to such a point nine Clark. Even we have an article coming up or would have been out already on non alcohol beer is that are really making a big splash thing. It's against my religion the not Alcohol Beers but what's Nice is I think the breweries all making something that can get the entry level here drinking and looking your tap. Lets you do have those as well for sure. I as I've gotten older. I've appreciated that Craft Beers evolved with my tastes now. I feel like he used to be. How crazy can we make the sphere top going to beat a drink Takao happy. Can we make it. I think a lot of that now is more. What can we make that people are going to drink a lot of lottery. You know six seven beers used. BP had six arrogant bastard. You wouldn't taste for weeks now now. There's there's enough craft beer out there that they're they're making products. That are fun to try. You can have a much of different things and enjoy your enjoy summer day Zoya Winter Day whatever it is and I appreciate that they're they're bringing it down a little bit but keeping the flavor there that's true I mean I like to see a lot of five five and a half's to have a lot of flavor that you can have five or six out and still mo the lawn in a straight line. It's not going to ruin your day. Hey No long sessional. Beers is the big the big new thing we're seeing a lot of cultures a lot of fully flavored. Ip as that are coming coming up forty five percent founders kind of broke the mold on that with all day. I Ta Nea Ri Billick Seven Breweries just off of that brand we see dogfish coming out with the same thing and all all the major brewers following in suit so just natural evolution. I guess to see ready was trying to make some stuff in fact one of our friends at Tom. Foley just has a low calorie one hundred Ed coury. Ida says that he just came out with and so as the market has evolved. There's not just ten breweries. You have to be able to to bring some frog consumers so I'll glassware beer festival. That's one of the reasons that we here as well so tell us a little bit about what's going on with this year. I know that you have a big qasis on Jersey beer yet this year. I think we're we're getting close to half of the total participants being from Jersey. I think a great weekend when you can do it is to go to a town. Check out the breweries that are there. They'll give you a backbone for your trip. Yes really give you can capture that into the the festival where you're like. Why a never gets a you know all these different places from your down to the tip of Cape May up to the up to the North Jersey side the validation kind of give a good representation while those monthly's emphasis sample what they have to offer. I think that's that's good. That's experienced driving towards is trying to grade their like that impossible. We'll road trip in a day yet and done a good job this year. You have a forty five plus breweries. I believe this year. They're coming last minute adults less well. That's that's the nature of the business and the Nice thing guys do too is it's a great area but tickets really reasonable so you had the VIP package that runs from twelve to five that gives you early initiative. That's one of fifty bucks. I mean that is that is a great price. Fifty dollars for a pours two was too. We're doing according to the ABC and that report is exactly two ounce. You have no more and you're you're able to come in an hour earlier to beat the crowds a little bit. I mean that's a great great. Price for forty bucks even income from one to five last four forty five and still be able to sample a bunch of beers. VIP ticket though that's the one absolutely that's a great deal and a lot of people not take my advice but I always say that he should probably start with the food exactly and they may not with a couple beers. You get the food because 'cause you whenever knows wants to eat. There's GonNa be lines there and get the food. Go the way of good base you know cruise the rest of the day. It's all about the base rallied the beating up Tom Claver Day of an article about eight things to do when you're preparing for a beer festival and that was one of them in that was definitely one of them and there's a bunch more. You can get that on the site. Sap or seen dot com but I feel like the people that come in here that power drink for the first twenty minutes to thirty minutes running around. I think they're day gets shorter. Oh yes I think they're ruining the ruined. All the other beers ability. My mind wasted what he just says a Patriot beer festivals right down the ones you want to try after about ten of Milstar taste better yeah especially with all these people are bringing these gigantic cop toward Beers speaking of yours. WE WANNA try coming up to the stage roses Caraba Callahan of Taco brewing company. Everybody here knows him fund bobby and he brought a some beers here today.

"So he's your have been around. It's not most uncommon thing. But right. Well, people are now understanding them and drinking more because they said there was a time allegation. Couldn't sell their beer because it was cloudy and everybody thought something was a matter with it. Right. And now people know that that's fine cloudy bears. They tell us where I was out in allegany on the tour, and that's one of the things they talk about the tour that he was going around to different Boers trying to get them to drink and he was buying rounds at the individual bars to get the people to buy his hazy beer, right and people don't understand it. But now they used to if I try to releasing northeast IP that was clear. I would probably think you're off your rocker. Yeah. That's a really nice way to put it. I mean, you said you're active on nj. Let's talk craft beer. They'd be all. How much of a bully mentality can go on weight. Or would you be creating a Central Jersey? I. Just be the people in the imaginary land known as central. Drinking. Well, let's see how that could work out. Right. You're still jersey shore. And Lakewood kinda. Doesn't matter. What locate what parts tell you like woods in? They'll still be people mad at me for I can tell you it south people in south jersey. No tell you. It's north people north jersey. No tell you what central people tell me. It's made up told me on the shore that tell me I'm just a few feet too far from the water. So I just say, no. Oh, you below one ninety five. So let's Mason Dixon, line of the jersey one ninety five if you're below that you're south jersey and your Sadler's we're gonna claim me for south jersey on south jersey, beer scene. So you're you're south jersey right now at this point, we're claiming new year could for Clinton pre shit. Clinton. Yeah. We have we have a lot of our meetings at your place. So where south jersey? Go with it one. Last thing before we start wrapping up Richard had mentioned sours before. Favorite's mother. What's what's your take on sour do like sour sharing? And I'll I'll go to include Goza in sours. Okay. So in that case, there's definitely some showers. So I did a collaboration with dark city burning Asbury this weekend's actually their bursary. We did a what's loosely based off of yacht use so northeast that they kettle soured who absolutely loved it. It had everybody northeast IP, and it had that mouth feel the big fruity citrusy flavours going on wall to same time being tart, I love that favorite. Favorite salary of all time is a cartons monkey chase a weasel. Okay. Which is a what a mobile area Berliner area and just so balanced well-being sours, right? However, some of these over the tops hours, I can't deal with they just wants to pure pucker heartburn going. I get everything. I had one of my favorite and least favorite sours happened in the same company and back the back. I drank cascade sang to our and cascades creek and back to back that was the best one of the best one of the top five and absolutely worse hours. I've ever drank in my life back to back. I believe it. It was like so bizarre did in the Saint company in like, oh my God. And then put the other my mouth, and I'm like, this is the most heart most disgusting. Most vile thing about the dump dumb. I think but as much as I hate sours. I love funk right all Belgian beers can get pretty fun of Belgian funky beers. Yeah. I can do funky Cezanne's farmhouses all day, which is definitely growing that love for a place referendum, which is out in west jersey that sickle real part of the state, right? And everything they do is just pure funk in I'm loving what they're doing. We have a lot of barrel. Fermented Saisons going on at the very we have a lot of barrel aged Cezanne's going on barn houses. I haven't really mess around with Brett or any of the real extreme levels of funk. I enjoy controlled funk. Like, I'm in my happy place there. Yeah. I buy that. Thanks jason. Thank you. Jason. Thank you for coming tonight. Thank you for sharing a lot about the brewery in about beers at cetera. So less less thoughts on second anniversary. That's coming up. I've suggests being there. "Brought a lot more casual beer drinkers into it. A lot more people into realizing, oh there are this many flavors possible. And not just you know, what they were seeing before. Shook crack one of these sure anybody thought I brought to okay, let's open up the telecaster. You know, I love my guitar, Richard. We've got three of them sitting behind us. So I love my ATar. I promised gentlemen from the show and salesman strin- rining in from from tone. Would that? I would I talk ten seconds about charter caster, which is named effort as well. I think just like our podcast is called fear of craft beer planet, which is named after the public enemy's album fear of a black planet and our logo is the their logo where they had a black cross airs and we have a punt, listen crosshairs. I think they hope they can get sued by Fender because by Fender would be nothing. But awesome. So Fender here, they have they have a thing named after your tar, so please suit them anyway, or cease and desist. That would make them happy. But lawsuit would go against tone would yes. Not south jersey bears. No make that class. Yes. We're talking about salary beer scene has nothing to do with this lawsuit and they want. No, let's try to sue them. Both right. The seasons assist out there. John John, Don, listen to this. John. They're coming for you, buddy. John does anyway. So don't worry about it. But yes, so as I learned this came from new hop that you know that both. Align teller went out and got the try all the way out in Oregon. Really came online. They said, it's a incredibly dank and really has a very, I guess guitars and pot could probably go a little well together, but very much has very pot Ishbel characteristed to it. Both in the smell. I guess people eat pot, but maybe possibly in the flavor edibles. Yeah. In the edible way. Right. You know? But pets pets run here blame the worst in the world oriented for them. But I just tried it for the first time last night as I went and snuck it out, but I can tell you on the knows it definitely has that characteristic. It's a very much in your neon fantasy, by the way, hit me in the same way for what I thought a double. I was going to usually when I drink actually double I expect that first sip now comparing two beers together. I expect that first sip to be the one that I have to have my palate, go, okay. I'm gonna have to just for this this bitterness. My brain's going to have to take those first couple of sips that didn't happen with neon fantasy at all by I hit that first sip, and it was round and smooth and delicious and everything about it was just pleasant. Which is not a normal normal normal characteristic for me at all same thing. Drink the Stratocaster last night for the first time it was round right from the beginning. No lactose, but definitely oats from what I read. So. And in both cases, you can't see through either of these beers. You can't not at all. Does that all of us are none of us here our kids? So we all remember that beers were clear long before the New England as and Saisons never clear, obviously. But I mean most beers. We all grew up with were clear again, I'm the non beer drinker here now. But I mean, I grew up the non beer guy. I don't have a care in the world about this this fascination people have with beer is not being clear or being exposed to be clear. Does this matter to any of you people all either any of you on a style of beer, some styles of beer what you grew up. What you grew up drinking or what you had was yet lagers pills nurse, which normally going to be more clear than this. If you open to speak in a big macro copay Budweiser American wheat base, right right on the candle. Roll it roll that can Wheaton it proteins. But Luke cans, you want that Hayes dispersed around it Heff, Hawaii's sweets have always been Hayes. Easy. That's Anthony the high protein beer, whether it be with flaked we'd flake dotes, which they're both in a lot of while. All thank north this a little bit weird and goes barley with Blake dry, but typically flake does flaked we right?.

"And he had the best line best story and said that were joking as you say a kid walks bar and says, hey, what's your best beer want to drink it and got the bartender pulls it out drinks. And he goes, man. That's really good. What else you got? Do you find that problem where I mean, you can't find a one they're not brand loyal or they're not beer loyal? They're always looking for that next thing. Do you seem to be finding that happening in the market and were happening just at your brewery alone? I mean, yes, and no, that's sort of the reason why we have the business model that we do adding new beers rotating beers at all times. So we tired to teach bar that. That's the way people want things. People aren't looking at the same beer week in week out. And is loyalty I love this year. I want to always have it bars still want that one beer because they want set that menu for three months. At a time, and it's up to them like, hey, people can be real excited for that beer for the first month. And then they're looking for what's nex? Right. So we don't really have to deal with as much because even our if you wanna call it a flagship, I don't call it that, but our most popular most well-known beers Jacci. We had on tap right now. But we just didn't have it for two months. We had a few variations here and there but never more than week or so so are most popular most well-known beer, the beer that people ask for by name. No. We don't have it. We have tons of other better beers though. 'cause I think every year we make is better than the last better. You know? So were it's always getting better. So hey, but if you like that you'll love this. And if you love this you'll love what's coming next. So what the consumer's always asking for? And luckily, that's what we already do. Do do. I'm. It up. Do you find that that's moving up into the older demographic? They're they're jumping on that bandwagon again. And I've heard this from not just my own podcast..

"I have the neon fantasy. Okay. Well, let's let Richard comment because I know Richard loves his Stoute's. Wow. So let's start with that. First of all, it's not boozy at all. And the nose right off the bat, you get the coffee just slams right in the face of the coffee is real out front. Actually. It's nice front. I thought when you drink it, which I think. Some coffee Stoute's. It's when you say, it's fun. It's too much. You know, it's like the coffee slamming the phase in which case in this case, it's out front without overtaking. The nice sweetness of the of what makes us doubt of stout. Lose the balance and yet it's still right there. And it's really round in the end. There's no again, I going back to there's no bussiness in. What's a fourteen point five percent beer all day long? And how old is this? Can this is not a couple years old, right? This recent few months, drink, it drinks. Like an age beer to me. You know, it's really round. It's not a doesn't. This is a thing month and a week old. Right. I would've thought he sat on that for a couple years, you know, and it had that softness of an older beer now. So the way I liked my ears balance. That's where I derive a lot of the name occurs from trying to balance that I never did. So a beer like this fortune half percent alcohol. Barry boozy best way that I know to cut booze is with with bitterness like you get one hundred us which would have been a west. If it wasn't a pale, you take that hundred us even cut that bitterness sweetness. Right. So in the end, you get none of that business. The bitterness is almost eaten up by both sweetness and the coffee to end up almost gonna bitter coffee in it, which is what he expected a coffee. Right. So it all just sort of pairs together. And gives you the depth of flavor. What where you sourcing the coffee is at a local coffee up by you, or at this point source, all my coffee from happy mug, which Pennsylvania. Oh nice. I love everything that they do not at all times we have like ten or so pounds of twenty varieties of coffee brew house. It's because we're all addicts. Sure. Berea all of us are working round the clock working around the clock at the broom, I lead Burr is also an EMT in medic at night. So he's doing nightshift, and then bring with me, my other is also a physical therapist. So he comes in at four forty five in the morning with me brewing leaves to go work his day job when he's done with his day job. He comes back to to help do the last Brousseau. We're all doing quote of two to three shifts a day. So some really flavorful coffee right really comes in handy. So so lovely. Right. Right. So you're level. You're actually becoming somewhat of a call the expert to trying to find a coffee profile. That's going to match the beer that you're looking to brew with definitely we also. So we try to use popular Randall entertain as much as possible fuse that flavor from those coffees into whatever beer, we think would work with it. Right at Tomas a demo test kitchen for us and see does this work because it's not work is this next time. You know, we like that. But didn't have enough so a little bit more coffee with coffee with maybe to poll it peppers throw with coconut throw. It was cinnamon vanilla beans or whatever else and see how those flavors match together with that beer and all of them. Well now, we have an idea for the next bureau. Right. Nice. This is fantastic. Thank you. This is really good now. Now, I'm curious what the the non call versions like what's the on the non-core version so fortunate that wow. At the base data. We have a Senate version we have another special adjunct version coming out for aniversary..

"Most importantly, you bring in your pregnant wife you bring in your anything. And it's nice to have another option. Nab only seen that in yours. And I think one other burry that has soda like that for everybody else where they might come eight soda. I know Cape May almost always has Rupe. You're okay. Yeah. Yeah. They're emits phenomenal. I loved it repair. The one I know is it Clinton and merchantville he usually has a couple of sodas on their Kate. Kate may has root beer engine drill at they have their Richie. We were talking about the style. And I was out to Guinness to get us in the number one production. Ability forgiveness and their number one market is Legos Nigeria freely. Yup. That is the number one market. So I'm making any sense at all I'm with you. Good good bear doesn't matter. And I'm glad by the way. I'm glad that complete defies the logic of how people have taught me about how your works. But or how beer-drinking works. And even when we were at Tun tavern talking to Brad the brewer there every time. Tabernacle salute. The of course. The marines horse was it really learn so much from you Ricky. Oh, yeah. I learned so much from Hewlett time. Richard. So, but he had a brewery Nicaragua. And what they like there lately, they like the Stoute's, you know. So the hot weather doesn't necessarily mean you don't drink the stout. Now rob was talking about the yacht. Use and I know you've done a lot of different variations on the you've double juice, you've double dry hopped at a few other variations how do you arrive at that? How do you decide to do just something you play around with or experiment with us? You you find something that would be complementary. We've done a double Citra double mosaic, which normally any choose. But now bring even more of a of which really just push that flavor a little bit further. Our first bursary we did a galaxy double drop, which is probably my favorite hop in general which stretches passion fruit. So that at a whole new layer to yacht. Use. But we definitely work with a lot of different beers. Where we just. Amp up the hops of dull drought, Berge. You know, we had we were having a great conversation before we actually turned to Mike von about the breweries and Evelyn's of the tasting rooms, etc. I don't know if you recall the conversation, we were having Jason, I know you said you may not remember it. But you know, just how some of the tasting rooms have evolved along the way going from basically a garage with the table to have beers onto something more attractive now. I believe there's evolution in both. What people wanna see in a taste room as well. As no. Almost like when you grow up. And as crap your world is growing up as what people are looking for is growing up things. Definitely change people always expect a little bit more people always one provides something more. So we're always trying to make things just look a little bit better be to better for the consumer be a little bit better for how we can provide that experience. So at the end of day, why are you going to a taste from other than the experience? Exactly. Now, we actually opened up a can of the collision of coffee and tried it. I'm sitting there with a big bottle of some kind of porter stout waving my fist in the air. You know? I looked at it as it's a twenty first century, we have modern amenities. We have air conditioning. We have heating this guy. I knew it. I don't care if it's ninety six degrees out you're walking into your house. So have Russian am I sitting poolside and during that broadly, not right for the same time? I sold ring session. I p as in the winter, right because you know, hopefully, you're Burris climate controlled absolutely. Or even other things that are kind of refreshing. Look, I think Saisons bird -freshing. That's a good summer beer that just as much in in July as I do in January. Now, tell even a different direction. Now, I've member that New Jersey, let's talk craft beer. And I check read it, New Jersey, beer and. Pretty good this year with a lot of people liking, your bury your yacht juice seems be very popular beer. Now. Why? Cause where I'm located. I don't get that. Unless I come. Visit you kind of style beers at so Yang choose the northeast. Okay. Which is sort of Sally become most known for just extremely popular growing style right now. And so yacht uses to me, the prime example of style. Soft juicy easy drinkable tons of citrus. Melon a little bit of blueberry. But overall just easy drinking for how strong. "And just tucking away for six months year, two years, whatever it be and coming out with something just unique. Now Jason since you'd like them. Do you were them to you? Do you have them? Now, you pretty limited on capacity and your browse. But do you have barrels air you barrel, h stuff almost certainly we currently have about a. I'd say about. Forty or so fifty three gallon barrels sitting aging at a brewery. We just filled up another six with another our clinical Varian Kush confidant huge Russian Purus out for two and a half percent. Call sean. We just sounds awesome. Yeah. We just bottled up. A ton of our anniversary release, which is a huge maple sear Russian imperial stout. That's round thirteen percent alcohol. We back up just for clarification Y, you would named appear coalition call that the Russian imperial stout. That's the reference to the weapon the AK forty seven seventy four which is a Russian assault rifle a weapon expert, the interesting reference, you made the creator of the forty seven. Yes. Collision. Call Christian coffee, and there's nothing to me that's really stronger in my eyes in the showing Russian strength this point in American Sam point and the forty seven. Oh, yeah. The most recognized weapon in the world. Exactly. So most prolific one sure short still seeing those weapons that's a almost eight year old weapon. Right. Still running around still running around the universe. So. Yeah. That's what I figured, you know, for to nap percent alcohol it it's up there, strong and. It seemed worth what worthy of the name. Yeah. Absolutely. I mean is that your beer style of choice. Like, what do you what do you drink at home more often than not if you're going to go into your fridge? What what are the couple of years you can drink all the time? That's a fair question. I'm a little bit spoiled. Yeah. Not only do I have every beer that I make. But I also have never any amounts of friends in the industry Shoreham every brewer on the state and beyond who constantly wanted. You know, trade beer is back and forth. So I get to have everything. What do I find myself doing more than anything lately as readily available, and unfortunately, it's not considered socially acceptable to open a nother Russian payroll stout every day. So I try and go with a few more pale ales something lighter. I'm a big fan of getting home from work, and they're gonna say is on a little bit lighter. Something that, you know, refreshing, right? Not not always the big giant twelve percent. Pure stout. Every minute I can't go to bed at a five in the afternoon. It's true. True. There is something about putting it back seven fifty. And then of a big twelve percent beer anything. Well, it's bedtime. Exactly. I get them in tally. I do because I love those too. That's my my my beer heart. I've joked on any number of on the first beer I ever fell in love with wasn't Shammy creeks Leon imperial stout. The which was just it was in a bar when I first got on the show, and it was on tap. And I'm like, oh my God. This to me is what all beer could be or should be in can be an they're like. Yeah. You can only get this seasonally. It made so many things that new beer person just getting into beer like what do you mean? You'll brew this beer once a year. Why would somebody do that? This is awesome. And it was then I realized two of them, and I was bombed. So I learned a lot of lessons from one beer. You know, I learned about seasonal beers. I learned about high alcohol beers. And I learned that those doubts are delicious much higher saying, you hate the fact that I was only available seasonally. Oh, incense me. I still don't get. I understand that people. Get I still hate the concept hate it. The first time I released clinic offi or collision cough, which is the noncoffee variant of it was in July right ever Serie every half anniversary. Sure. So we really say huge fortune half percent Russian bureau sowed age on southern pecan coffee beans Indian percent, that's That's all. ninety six degrees outside with perfect. I would drink that. I I'm a big, I'm a big hippie music guy..

"Jason Goldstein who I've known for a couple of years, actually, no nuisance before is open. I met Jason at one of the ocean county home brewers meeting, and there's this this young guy essay. Yeah, I'm opening a brewery. I'm open rubbery Lakewood. And and got to know got to talk to him about the Burri, and it's hard to believe it's been two years since the brewery actually opened since Eker is open. So how how he what's your feedback on how you've grown in the last two years is that expected is part of your business plan. At this point. I can only describe is unexpected unbelievable and exponential. I'm not sure where we are compared to where we expected to be. I just know. A lot of beer these days. At this point. We're burn about six times a week. I over brewing maybe four times a month. So this point every week at six on a few more weeks. We have new tank going online just got in. We'll be up to eight times a week on average a lot more than they would ever suggest doing on a system. Like we have. Part of it is capacity to because what did you start out as far as your systems concern? So we've been on ten barrel system this whole time Tim barrel vessel. We started with sixty barrels from tation capacity to twenties tens this point. Now, we have to tends to twenties and thirties, and we're just brought in forty so mental math one hundred sixty barrels compared to starting at sixty. That means on average, you know, again, we could directly do about eighty barrels a week. Well, a lot for a ten barrel system. And I know that not too long after you started you really got into the distribution. But I know distribution was part of your plan all along. Yeah. We sell to tribute all over the half of the state. It's what I've always wanted to do. I try to make everything that we do at the very base of what I would like to as a consumer have at dinner. AM Sola beer fan. Boy eyestone. Fortunately, wait on lines at other breweries. I still. Whenever it tells me that that releasing something new I'm sitting hitting f five on my laptop at this point. I might be canning the Burri wall having my phone out refreshing over and over to get that release. But you know, I see what I like as a consumer. And that try to emulate that as best that I can doing things that I wish could happen. Oh, no, go ahead. So yeah, we we saw our cans and on tap all of these half. The state Trump is acceptable as possible killing all our releases out as fast as possible for canning on Tuesday. It's already liquor stores and bars on Wednesday, just making sure everything is fresh physically possible. Never really holding on tape thing. The joy of having a smaller barrel. Y system is everything. Just always fresh. Now, you had mentioned that you go you still wait online at breweries like a beer fan. Boy, what kind of beers. You went online for typically big barrel aged outs. That's what wakes me up in the morning has. Somewhat breakfast, right? Exactly. There's just something beautiful about taking any sort of barrel. It doesn't have to be a whiskey barrel. I fall in love with red wine barrels port one barrels with anything special taking a huge doubt..
