"Kind of funny does more of this Xbox give them more money, et cetera, et cetera, that kind of stuff. You know, hype us up juices, juices. Thank you to our Patreon producers forgo Brady, Gordon Maguire and Al tribesmen. Today we brought to you by ExpressVPN me undies and athletic greens as well as Shopify, but we'll tell you more about that later. For now let's begin with what is and will forever be the roper pool. Each time for the news. We've got four stories today. Bakers does and it's actually four and a half, but wait. Something also did drop. I've been checking in on the chat. First of all, we missed that it was the ten year, it's the ten year anniversary of Gangnam style today, which makes me feel. It is that can't be right. We're not that old. Are we? That was like four years ago, right? Yeah. That is that is yeah. It's also the 30th anniversary of the first release of Street Fighter two on home consoles. Which is a more relevant one than Gangnam style, but you know? There we go. Also, Tim, another news story did just drop, so I just dropped it in, but I thought. Okay. We'll talk about it. Oh. We are proud to officially join bungie has tweeted we are proud to officially join the incredible team at PlayStation we're excited for the future of our company. And we are inspired to bring together players from all over the world to form lasting friendships and memories per audacia ad Astra. So we knew this stuff was going to happen, but I guess it's now official. The paperwork has been signed and we are off to the races. So bungie has published a joint kind of like a blog post, I guess. Where they make it official, we believe games have limitless potential and that they'll do any and that they do anything worthwhile and that to do anything worthwhile in entertainment. We must bet big on our vision. Our studio and our incredible team of trusted creators who build unforgettable worlds that truly matter to people. And Sony interactive entertainment, we have found a partner who unconditionally supports us in all we are and who we want to accelerate our vision and who wants to accelerate our vision to create cross create generation span entertainment all while preserving their creative independence that beats in bungie's heart. Like SIE believes that game was only the beginning of what IPs can become. That's an interesting bit of text there. SA believes that game worlds are only the beginning of what our IPs can become.

"And by developing for PlayStation 5 and not PS4, it's gonna free up a lot of resources. People that would have to spend a lot of time trying to optimize the game to get it to run decently on a PS4 can put those efforts elsewhere and that's gotta be a welcome thing for a team these days after many years of struggling with the PS4 and Xbox One hardware to just leave those things behind. That's gotta be an albatross off the neck, right? I would imagine, yes. But if we could for a second, go back to the whole SSD thing. Yeah. I just think that that was a thing that was maybe perhaps in this console generation was like very front loaded, right? Sure. Where you kind of got a taste of that with Spider-Man. You got a taste of that with, I guess ratchet and clank to some degree. Absolutely. The truth is that you could do a lot of these things in other ways. You don't just need the SSD. You could have extra a little bit extra ram and you put a more stuff in memory, a little bit quicker and just be better about managing that stuff on the software side. Obviously there were other ways of doing these things. I think what developers like is the SSD gives them this big option available to them to do a lot of stuff so they can do a lot of these tricks without having to do a lot of work. So I should make developers lazy. Just like we've always been saying on this show. We've always suspected $70. What'd you get your act together? Now, you don't even work. You've got all the bandwidth in the world. But no, it definitely, I guess what it sort of nets out is like, is that talking point, right? Hold as much water today. I think we're still a ways off from that really seen what they're going to be able to do with these SSDs. And that's going to be in combination with them taking advantage of the more powerful CPUs that are legs better than last year. And it's like once they start really looking like scoping out in different directions than they would have in the past. In the past, it was always like, we can make these worlds bigger. And that was a one way game could always go because, you know, you could just increase the size of the game. That was going to hurt anything. You wouldn't be able to go across that world very fast. Well, now we can go across the world fast and make them bigger, but also what can we do with CPU to increase simulation in the world and improve AI? That stuff is, they weren't even thinking about that stuff. So they don't even have people on staff who have been specializing in those in those areas of expertise. So it's going to take years to sort of build up those skills before we really take advantage of it. People haven't even been born yet. Exactly. Exactly. Let's see. New PlayStation studio haven teases exciting collaboration with rockstar Mark cerny speaking of pictures of your ear. This is from Tom, I've been a VGC Sony interactive entertainment has completed its acquisition of haven studios. The company announced on Monday. It originally confirmed plans to fund an original IP from the studio that would be Sony planned to fund a game from the studio. Which was cofounded by Assassin's Creed co creator, Jade Raymond, in March of 2021. In March of this year, Sony said it planned to inquire to acquire the Canadian game studio for an undisclosed sum that deal has now closed. Speaking about what their plans are now, Jade Raymond said, so Mark cerny is one of the main reasons we're investing so much in R&D and it is and in this very senior engineering team. It's not just tied to cloud, which is one of the things they plan to mess around with. But also some more forward thinking R&D. I'm not able to say too much now, but that's obviously one of the other things that's been a big attractor and as exciting to our team with PlayStation. Of course, Mark cerny is kind of like a rockstar too, so being able to collaborate with him is really exciting. So I mean, and he's the one he is the guy who's responsible for sort of guiding the creation of the PlayStation 5s hardware. So maybe thought let's think we were just talking about like people need to take their time to take advantage of this stuff. Maybe this is the kind of team that's do it in exactly that. Maybe that's what they mean by this R&D. You need another one of those certain PowerPoints. I have the architecture exactly. What did haven make? They have not made anything yet, so this is from Jade Raymond. This is basically Jade Raymond was at ubisoft and then she left to go somewhere else and I can't remember, maybe it was square. Stadia or something? Then she went to stadia and she was going to make sure she was going to make the studio there and never released the game and now she's started a new studio that PlayStation invested in immediately and now they have a fully acquired that team. Jade Raymond, they've her teams have not shipped a game for quite some time. I think she's kind of have a couple of really unlucky dead ends and now it sounds like she's found a pathway forward to actually getting a game out and a team that's like fully present and a publisher that is ready to fund everything and it's not going to evaporate one day like Google stadia did. So yeah, that's good. Ubisoft has backed off of removing Assassin's Creed liberation from steam even for people who own it. We talked about this story a little bit on game this mornings earlier this week. Basically what was happening here is in September, ubisoft is going to take down a bunch of services that's going to affect many of its older games. And so DLC and all these other things, online features might break. And in the process, the wording that they said made it sound like Assassin's Creed liberation on steam would no longer be playable, but even if you owned it, you would no longer be able to access it or download it again. They've sent an update basically clarifying that that doesn't seem to be the case. So I'll read it here. Ubisoft has issued a follow-up statement to VGC, which implies steam's information is incorrect, and that Assassin's Creed liberation HD will remain playable after September 1st. It said, as stated in our support article, our only DLCs in online features will be affected by the upcoming decommissioning. Current owners of those games will still be able to access play or redownload them. Our teams are working with our partners to update this information across all storefronts and are also assessing all available options for players who will be impacted when

"Now the pro of that is we only know about those and that means they're the only ones right now, so summer game fest might have a lot more bangers than spreading them across a bunch of other places, right? That would be the hope. As we look ahead, you know, what, it's Thursday today, right? So two weeks from today, the summer games event. The stream they're doing. Yeah, the hope is for me personally is the fact that, okay, Jeff, see when the game of town. So is he loaded for bear? Does he have big announcements? Does he have stuff for PlayStation? Does he have a God of War ragnarok trailer there? I'm not trying to set your expectations there. I would always say be cautious assume no he won't PlayStation's gonna keep that tight and not share it and do it on their own and make their own moments and yada yada yada. I would always say that. I don't I'm not trying to eat in people's heads or to give them hope for that. But that is like you look at it and you go, man, I hope that's what's happening. I hope that Jeff has earned that spot after Game Awards after opening that live after what he's done with summer game fest in general. And now yeah, they're being no E three. So it is a neutral ground. It isn't that you need to go and worry about the ESA. You can go to Jeff who's been good to you and be good to him. Hopefully give him really cool shit. Absolutely. And I think that he's pushing for that. I guarantee he's a very least asked, right? So we'll have to see, but like when is a PlayStation event going to happen? When is Nintendo going to have their event? Those are the two biggest questions about this summer right now that I don't know we're going to get an answer for any time soon. So it's just really kind of a weird bizarre time that we're two weeks away from E three season and it's going to be essentially like a handful of days and then just be over. We will see. We will see. Where are you? What are you all doing? Ubisoft, what's your plan? What are you going to say, you know? Because we're waiting. We'll wait and see. But for now, God of War seems to be marching towards an actual release date this year. As I said at the top, it's pretty much all PlayStation news today. So we'll move these number two. There are two more live service games from PlayStation this fiscal year. We go to VGC where Andy Robinson's doing God's work and writes, PlayStation is set to release two live service games during its current fiscal year, which ends March 2023. That's according to Sony interactive entertainment president Jim Ryan, who said during a business briefing on Thursday that the company currently had what it considered to be one live service game in MLB the show 22. Of course, with the packs and you open up the cards and you do your whole gameplay that way. A slide shared during the briefing show that the company plans to expand the number of service services, games by two during its current fiscal year. Asked by an analyst if the two additional titles were announced or included a destiny released from bungie, the studio is set to acquire. Ryan said, quote, destiny is not included in the three games slated for FY two two. The two others are yet to be announced end quote. During the briefing, Ryan said Sony considered live service titles to be quote games with no end end quote. Sony plans to have released 12 such titles by his 2025 fiscal year, a slide shown during showed a slide shown during the briefing indicated. With three arriving fiscal year 23, foreign fiscal year 24 and two more fiscal year 25. During the same briefing, Ryan suggests that at least some of the live service games in it has in development are planned for PC. Tim, does this do anything for you? For me, no, for PlayStation, yes. And I do think it's very interesting to look at PlayStation kind of expand its offerings and try to get out of just being the best third person, single player games of all time studios, right? And to kind of find those ways to make the as 9 amount of money that other companies are making in these different kind of verticals. So yeah, I think it totally makes sense. And I mean, then having destiny and it not be included here, but destiny being one of the better examples of these type of titles, right? It took a while for it to find its footing and even with destiny two, there was like some little issues here and there or whatever. But at the end of the day, it's like, these are genres that are not going to go away. If you even want to call life service game genres at this point, it's just kind of like a type of gaming. So it's like, I feel like this is probably good news. Yeah, it's a vertical within their gaming offering even. And when you take that, it's like, I think that they have good people working on this and I hope that they just do it the right way and that it's done correctly sooner than having to take a couple of years, which seems to be the trend with all of these games. It seems like there isn't any that just come out, the gate and nail the format, even though we're a decade into these type of games existing. But we are also a couple of years removed from the catastrophic failures of things like anthem. So I think that we are probably going to start seeing the reactions to those learnings. With how game design works and how everything kind of has to work on a couple of year late shift over to things. I think that by the time we get to fiscal year 23 24 25, these live service games can be fine tuned to a point that they are giving gamers what they actually want from that type of vertical. A 100% and I think it's also interesting that when you get into this conversation, we don't know what we're talking about because of how nebulous live service is to them. You know, I think you think destiny, okay, of course that would make sense. And MMOs sure. The fact that they're counting the show because of the trading cards, it has similar to my faction in WWE two K 22, which I love and turn on nearly every day to screw around with and get some cards or get some points. Like, it's such a, it reminds me very much of when we talked about back in the day at IGN, you know, somebody come back from a preview and they're like, oh, it has RPG elements. Like 2000 8009..

"Bungie CEO has spoken about Sony. This is Tom Ivan at video games chronicle. Bungie's boss has said Sony interactive entertainment planned acquisition of the company won't stop the destiny studio from standing for standing up for what it believes in. Last week, SIE boss Jim Ryan sent employees an email urging them to quote respect differences of opinion on the subject of reproductive rights. According to a follow-up leaked email written by insomniac CEO Ted price, the studio sent a lengthy document to PlayStation studios boss Herman holst, in which numerous members of the staff called on the company to quote do better by employees who are directly affected by the situation. Following SI reportedly plans to match a $50,000 donation insomniac is making to the women's reproductive rights assistance project. However, price also said PlayStation won't allow any of the studios to publicly comment on reproductive rights. Bungie is one of the most high profile video game companies to make clear it stands on reproductive rights in recent weeks. Quote, the leaked draft decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn roe V wade represents a blow to freedom in America and is a direct attack on human rights is said earlier this month. Quote, standing up for reproductive choice in liberty is not a difficult decision to make. And bungie remains dedicated to upholding these values. Bungie's senior community manager stated on Twitter quote I admit I'm just a community manager in the grand scheme, but I'm confident in the following. We are and we'll continue to be bungee. There will never be a muzzle big enough to stop us from standing up for what's right. End quote. P Parsons, bungee CEO, followed up on this replying quote, yes. End quote. Again, good on bungie. We've been talking about this a lot. They're like, you know, bungee was one of the more vocal big video game studios to come out and really speak about this and really speak for women's rights to choose when it comes to abortion. And for me, the rant I've been going on is more so about like, man, it really sucks that PlayStation acquires bungee, bungee feels the liberty to speak out and be vocal about this and then a weeks later PlayStation comes specifically. Jim Ryan is like, oh, it's, you know, respect people. And kind of walks back what bungees approach who it was. And so it's nice to see a bunch of come back and go. No, we're not going to be muzzled, right? We're going to continue to operate as we operate, especially coming off of the news about how or the report of insomniac. Not wanting to tweet and be vocal about how they're making donations because they don't want to see repercussions based on that and then get shut down by that. Janet, is this a good move from bungee? Yeah, of course. I think though it is, this is like a weird moment in time, I think, for Sony as an umbrella and PlayStation has an umbrella with all of this kind of tension that is built. And I know people are going to argue, that was Jim Ryan's point, like he didn't want this kind of thing to happen. But I mean, that is going to be the case when you have these different companies underneath each other, different studios that really do want to be able to be vocal about certain things. And then there's that push and pull of no matter how progressive some of these students may be, there is still the, okay, well, it won't be an official statement, though. We'll match you on the donation, but we're not going to say anything about it, which is kind of weird, I feel like. But and then yeah, 2000 from insomniac, I think that's really just to kind of put out there that where insomniac stands, even though 50,000 is not a whole lot of money, admittedly. But yeah, I mean, I think something that I've seen come up, again, again, we've talked about this a bunch, so we don't need to spend an insane amount of time on it, but something that keeps coming up is I think people conflating respect is just being automatically the best thing to do in every scenario. I think because respecting each other sounds great. Yeah, we should respect each other. We work together on a team. There you go. That does sound good. But I think in a case like this, the reason that you are seeing that pushback from studios from the way we've talked about this topic on shows is because that doesn't work when the two things are at odds with each other on a grander scale. I know people are going to say, yeah, but this is just like a person to person thing. It's like governments and decisions and laws, like all of those trickle down to people, whether they're literal people that we can point out, whether they're people that we vote for to represent us and what those people then have to say. And that's why it's like not as simple as. Well, why can't we all just hold hands and sing kumbaya and get along? It's like, well, because what you want takes away my option to choose. And I'm not going to respect that. And I can't. I wish it'd be easier if we could have that, but honestly, too. The thing is with the whole perspective of different opinions and a lot of people have also pointed out having the right to choose allows for that. Again, I don't need you to agree. I just need that option to be legally there. And I think that's where the friction comes in, where a lot of people are like, what's wrong with wandering perspective? It's not that that's inherently wrong. It's just that that can not apply to everything. Unfortunately, you know, it'd be nice if we lived in a world where we didn't have to have conflict, but like conflicts do a rise and this is a case where the conflict is meaningful. It's not over something petty and small. Respecting differences, like I respect differences for when it's like what platform do you play games on? Not for things with human rights, like basic human rights. That's a different thing. Asking us to tolerate intolerance, which only just boosts the people who live life of intolerance and trying to put their personal values on the entirety of society. And that doesn't solve anything. 100%. Yeah, I think that this whole debacle is making me think about and like the last week is like how I feel like PlayStations approach over the last few years has kind of backfired on them in terms of them wanting to be faceless and them wanting to be like a, hey, we don't have personalities, right? I think we've seen so many personalities leave, right? Andrew house isn't there. I feel like we see less, right? The face is a PlayStation aren't there. This is comparative for like what we usually see are like what we see from other places like when you think Xbox, you think of Phil Spencer, right? You now think of pions, right?.

"Started her own studio, haven entertainment, and several people who were on her team at stadia followed her there and are working with her and now Sony interactive entertainment, according to IGN, has announced that it has entered an agreement to acquire them and it will become the 18th studio to join the PlayStation studios family. I did not realize there was that many of them. Raymond, who was the founder of ubisoft, Toronto, and motive studios on one of the key figures behind Assassin's Creed began have been studios in 2021 with an investment from SIE. Raymond shared that the team was looking to create worlds where players can escape, have fun, express themselves, and find community. Well, that sounds nice. The new game is a live wait, hold on. Furthermore, it confirmed the project that the team was working on would be a new IP that would be exclusive to PlayStation, so just getting that out there right away. Not that that was going to be any surprise PlayStation bought them. This news just further cements their partnership that a new life service experience for PlayStation was built upon a systemic and evolving world focused on delivering freedom, thrill, and playfulness. Yeah, this is interesting. I'm so curious to know what the hell Jade is working on in her studio. I was reading the interview she did with IGN in October of last year. And she said there's three things that are really exciting to her in this new studio. The first one is games as a social platform, and she said, you know, now that the younger generation essentially makes they form their friendships online, like that's something that's really exciting to them about their about their next upcoming game. So okay, like taking that in mind. The second thing is thinking about the remix generation, self expression, and basically how people read their friends blogs over reading actual professional articles that journalists wrote. And so and then she kind of talks about TikTok and user generated content. In that sense, like Friends blogs, TikTok, et cetera, and that's kind of a motivating factor for their new game. And it's designed to be owned by the fans and can evolve through that. And I'm wondering, what does that even mean? I mean, the first thing it smacks up to me is media molecule. It's like, hey, this feels like a media molecule style game. And I think that media molecule makes really cool stuff. Obviously, they kind of rose to fame over little big planet, and now they're doing really cool stuff with dreams, which is obviously all UGC. But I don't know of UGC in games is the right fit for every game. Clearly it's done gangbusters for games like Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite, well, not really as much Fortnite, but other games, but I thought for sure that haven given Jade's pedigree and some of the people that came with her would be more like a triple-A narrative focused game. But yeah, you narrative in UGC just don't really mix. Well together. No. No. No, it doesn't. Yeah, so yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head meaty molecule was the first thing that came to mind to in dreams and what they did with that. Is it going to be like a Second Life sort of thing? Is it going to be like just a sim game? They're making it better. That's it. I think PlayStation home. Remember that? It was called the homeless in it. Oh yes. Oh my God. That's it, yeah. Jade Raymond is making PlayStation home V two confirmed. Oh my goodness. You're on the what's good? Gabe Hewitt wrote in and asked on the topic of haven studios. Live service games that launch can make or break the life of that game. Is PlayStation taking a big risk by buying haven before they release their first game or can we trust these veteran game devs? I mean, I think it's always gonna be a risk even if it's veteran game devs. We've seen veteran studios flop on their first outing before. You know, I'm not gonna name names right now. But I mean, it's happened, and we've also seen unknown studios launch with really amazing stuff as well. So I think the fact that Jade does have a pedigree, obviously was what led PlayStation to invest in her and the studio. And I think you need to remember Gabe that because she's part of the PlayStation studio system, she has pretty unfettered access to all of those other studios, which are phenomenal groups of developers. So I think that I think that they'll be okay. She could hit up insomniac, naughty dog, medium molecule, Ben bungie. Bungie now, oh my God, I keep forgetting that. Sony Santa Monica, Santa Monica, San Diego. Excuse me, Sony San Diego. They'll be fine. Yeah. Yeah. And if not, they'll just become a support studio. That's how world works, kid. Well, you know, hopefully they'll be able to keep their jobs and not lose them, like what Google did to them. Moving right along, the next story is a fun one. Ghostbusters spirits unleash has been revealed by Friday the 13th developers, ill fonic, so ill fonic also put out a couple other games, but I think people do mostly know them be afraid of the 13th, but they also put out the alien game, which was really fun. Predator, right? Predator, not alien. That's correct. It's like the 80s monster that I watched a lot of movies of predator. That also that description could probably point to a lot of different characters. So Brittany, why don't you read this while I pull up a trailer? Pull it up, we're gonna bust some ghosts, motherfuckers. All right, so this comes from GameSpot..

"Sony interactive entertainment is planning to hold its next digital game showcase this month, it is claimed. That's according to multiple sources who told game reactor that the PlayStation parent had been planning a state of play live stream for this week. However, it is claimed that SIE has been facing calls to delay the event due to the ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Quote, some developers who are set to show off their games in the show and even some at PlayStation studios have asked for the show to be delayed because they don't want to take the spotlight away from the awful stuff happening right now. The public publication claims they continue, quote, this has allegedly led to talks about delaying it a week or two. But at least it sounds like we'll be getting some very exciting announcements from PlayStation and his partners before the end of March end quote. Sony's upcoming exclusives include God of War ragnarok, Final Fantasy 16 for spoken and ghostwire Tokyo. Tim, you think there's a chance we see Final Fantasy 16 at this rumored state of play. I think that there's a very good chance we see it. I don't think it's a guarantee, but with the fact that we have consistently seen from fantasy 16, at PlayStation events, whether it was the PS5 showcase or whatever they did or stay the plays. They told us that we were going to get more info and that info got delayed into what I think was this time period. I seem to remember it being a little closer to April, but we're close enough. I can imagine that happening. I think that that could go down. I think that it makes sense for state of play, right? We got through horizon. We got through Gran Turismo 7. So now it's like, cool, let's get the ball rolling here with PlayStation and that the next kind of round of announcements out there, whether it's like release dates for things, a little bit more promotion and hype around things like ghost wire Tokyo. And then kind of giving us a better idea of what the rest of 2022 looks like. These insiders here are talking about their being some announcements. So it's like, that's exciting to me. You have like, what don't we know about, right? I feel like there are a ton of PlayStation first party studios that we know what they're working on. We know that ragnarok is imminent at some point. I'll even go as far as saying, I hope we don't see more ragnarok here. I feel like the next time we see ragnarok, I want it to be a full on. Here's a date we're ready to go, boom. I don't want God of War to get death looped. Speaking of death loop wouldn't be surprised if we see some DLC potentially for that. Yeah, I never thought about that with DLC, but I think that's a good one to throw out there. But yeah, then you start looking down the line there. And it's like, okay, we got insomniac, we know we got Spider-Man two. We know we got Wolverine. I don't think we're going to be hearing about go for it. Do you think we'll see those levels of announcements? Because I'm right there with you in terms of what is on the horizon, no pun intended for PlayStation and what they can talk about. I feel like over the last, I'll say year of state of plays, I've been so conditioned to not get excited anymore, because I'll pull up the last data play. I think this is the last one from October last year. And this is the one where it was death versus let it die. We are OFK, buck snacks, I'll big snacks, right? Yeah, I'll have a big snack. Five Nights at Freddy's security breach, death door coming to PlayStation Cartwright or king of fighters first class trouble star ocean. And then that one is the one that ended with the headliner, little devil inside. I feel like state of plays have been played down a bit in terms of the size and quality of announcements to expect there. I think the chance for us to see font fancy or yeah, 16, especially since it's a PlayStation exclusive, would be for if they announced a, hey, this is a Final Fantasy 16 state of play. Like they did for horizon last year, right? Because that is something that they can type up, they can use it to advertise it. But for how they've been treating state of plays lately, I don't know. I feel like it might be another, hey, here's a bunch of games that are either indie or low key that we just want to promote. Dude, it totally could be that. The thing with PlayStation state of plays is I don't think there's enough consistency yet to make any type of assumptions, especially with where we're at in the PlayStation 5s life cycle and how inconsistent these data plays have been over the last three years, I'll say, right? Where you sometimes there is a banger. Sometimes there's just one banger amidst a lot of kind of mid or less announcements. It's very wildly inconsistent. What I do think we have going for us into this one is the fact that the Gran Turismo and horizon are out now. Both of those games did get their own state of plays, right? So it's like now that that's kind of out of the way. I think we're kind of in this like different era of the PS5. And I think that we already, there's a lot of games that are announced that I'm pretty shocked or announced already like Wolverine and Spider-Man two, right? Like the fact that we know what a lot of these teams are working on so far out is interesting, but it kind of like quells the.

We're the best. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, of course. They need more WG in their life. That's true. All right. This shows also brought to you by me and these and fixture gaming, but we'll talk a little bit more about that in just a bit. I want to dive right into this whopper of a new story. You know, it feels like the hits just keep coming when it comes to acquisition news in video games. What a mammoth January. It was in video game acquisitions, lots of money changing hands, and the latest is that Sony has bought bungee for $3.6 billion. I tweeted that I did not see this coming, knowing that bungie had quite a long road to becoming an independent studio, but but hey, you know, this one is an interesting one. So over on games industry dot biz, they wrote that after the deal closes, bungie will be an independent subsidiary of Sony interactive entertainment run by a board of directors consisting of the current CEO and chairman Pete Parsons and the rest of the studio's current management team. Sony has said the budget will remain a multi platform studio with the option to self publish and reach players wherever they choose to play. At present the studio is working on maintaining destiny two, of course, which queen's coming in just three weeks. Expanding the destiny franchise and working on new IP, which we know has been in the works for quite some time. So there's some quotes in this story from Jim Ryan, of course, talking about bungie and PlayStation DNA and their partnership throughout destiny. And then they're talking about where their IP will go. Yada yada yada. The thing that I wanted to kind of skip to, which I thought was really interesting is the idea that it wasn't that long ago, even though I guess technically, it was like 20 years ago. It was a 20 years ago. The Microsoft acquired bungee back in 2000. And then they left Microsoft, and then they signed up with Activision in a ten year deal, and then they left Activision, and then we thought, oh, bunch it's going to be out on their own. Nope, now they're with PlayStation. And they are apparently going to work with PlayStation studios to launch more than ten live service games by fiscal 2026. That secondary hidden headline within that story is kind of the bloopers on here. That's insane. So is at the bottom of the notes here. So it's a separate story where I said LOL what? That's the link. I was like, I couldn't believe that that wasn't really kind of the focus of this acquisition. So that to me is probably the reason why PlayStation made such a big show of being like bungee is going to remain independent because it sounds like they're going to leverage their amazing live service and multiplayer technology that they developed for destiny, which I beat a drum about how good their multiplayer is and how good their life service team is. Best in class in the business, I think. And PlayStation doesn't really have that for any of their first party teams. So that's clearly why they made this deal and allowed bungee to retain their independence. What I love about this Euro gamer story that talks more about this ten live servers games deal is they kind of hypothesize about what could these ten games be coming by March 2026, which is not that far away it's four years away. Ten live service games. So they hypothesized the unnamed bungie IP, which is codenamed matter. So is that going to be PlayStation exclusive or will it be multi platform TBD? Naughty dog has been rumored to be working on a multiplayer only thing actually one of the live service things, right? 'cause they have twisted metal, is reportedly in development, right? So and then gorilla has some online stuff going on because they've been hiring for online development roles. And then they also insomnia. Right? Yeah, so those two teams really haven't done live service at all. But I think sucker punch opened the door with ghosts of sushi legends. And what they started with that for multiplayer. And if based off how well that was received, I think sucker punch has a really good base to potentially do a live service multiplayer iteration of that if they wanted to. And then the team over at your gamer also hypothesized the deviation games, the brand new studio that's currently working on a new IP for PlayStation that is made up of former Call of Duty black ops devs, obviously it could be live service based. And then they are like, what about Jade Raymond studio? What she doing. I don't to me like Jade studio doesn't really smack of being a live service. She feels more of like a tentpole narrative single player studio just based off her pedigree and where she comes from as a game maker, but you never know. So it's interesting to me. Michelle, what do you think about this bungee news? I mean, it was surprising. That's for sure. I don't think anybody saw it coming, right? I mean, the first thing I thought was like, you know, it gives them a it gives them a big MMO for the multi or the metaverse. You know, I think a lot of people are trying to have a metaverse game like that, at least like futuristically thinking about it. You know, Xbox now has also World of Warcraft. Or Microsoft. So I would Nintendo already has those kinds of worlds that you can kind of get into between Pokémon and everything else. So I kind of saw this as like a metaverse play, but all of this consolidation that's.

"So it's safe to assume they're working on something multiplayer wise for whatever this new IP is going to be. And I'm actually looking right now, bungie did put out a tweet. It's an image, but basically they're saying destiny itself will remain everywhere. Self publish creatively independent. It's not nothing's going to change as far as that goes. So I would assume this is all future stuff coming from bungee, where obviously PlayStation is going to have the option to make it exclusive. They could keep it everywhere. I would assume for me personally, anything that bungie is doing moving forward. Yeah, console wise, it may be on PlayStation, but it's probably going to show up on PC two. That would be my guess, right? Because that's just kind of been their DNA, you know, with destiny. So why would they completely shift gears as far as that goes? That is technically multi platform, when they say multi platform. So they could just be like, oh, it's going everywhere. It's going on PlayStation and PC, but it's not going to Xbox. That makes sense. That loophole, right? Because it says, with the option, like bungie has the option to self publish and reach players wherever they choose to play. So that means anywhere. But without wording, it could just be PlayStation PC no Xbox. I want to hop into this blog post on budget's website because as the news went up, of course, I pulled from games in your shop is Bloomberg has an article as well. Everybody's put not articles. I want to pull directly from the source itself, bungie dot net, where they write a blog about what this means for them. It's titled bungee joined Sony interactive entertainment. We believe games have limitless potential, and that to do anything worthwhile and entertainment. We must bet big on our vision on our studio and on our incredible team of trusted creators who build unforgettable worlds that truly truly matter to people. An SIE, we have found a partner who unconditionally supports us and all we are and who.

"Like, you know, he's got nothing left to prove, right? One of the probably one of the true ultimate legends of the video game industry. And he's going to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame for all time. Like he's number one. And so he's got nothing left to prove, but the thing about super genius types like that who are compelled to keep creating and keep finding the next frontier is that even though he's got nothing left to prove, he's going to fucking do it anyway. And I think that again, it's the romantic in me speaking. I just want to believe that there is one more thing where we go holy shit, he's fucking done it again. And then he'll go sit on a beach somewhere. And he's like, I just got so excited off of you just saying that alone. I don't think about it. I'm like, man, what if he did have another Mario 64 in him? Or what if you had another all time classic game in him that he drops in one of the franchises that we love? I hope so. Yeah. Gary, I'm going to go through these next few stories quickly because we are late in the show. So story number four, death loops director has been appointed as the new head of arcane Leon. This is Tom Ivan at video games chronicle. The co director of death loop has been appointed as arcane Leon's new studio head. Dinga baq aba took on the role of studio director at the company in October and following the departure of former head rom walled capron. Bakaba has also retained his position at as arcane Leon's co creative director, a role he shares with that co director and studio art director Sebastian mitten. Arching Leon's new studio had joined the developer in November 2010. He's credited as a designer in producer on dishonored and its DLCs as lead designer on dishonored two and death of the outsider, and as game director on wolfenstein youngblood. Because predecessor capron stepped down in October, shortly after the launch of the studio's latest game, the critically acclaimed death loop. And 7 months after arcane's parent company, zeni max media was acquired by Microsoft. So big congratulations to that is awesome. And dean seems awesome to you. I've watched playing if this interviews. I've seen on Twitter, I follow on Twitter. And he seems like a delight whenever I see him pop up. And so big congrats there. Story number 5, the tomorrow children is making a return. This is Daniel Robbins Robson at IGN. 5 years after its October 2016 release as a free to play game on PS4 and subsequent shutdown, 13 months later, the tomorrow children is set to return. Queue games of the Kyoto based indie developer behind the game has acquired the rights from Sony published from publisher Sony interactive entertainment, returning the tomorrow children IP to the creator Dylan cuthbert and his team. During a rare private server gameplay video in September 2021, Q games, CEO and founder cuthbert told IG and Japan that he hoped to acquire the rights and rerelease the tomorrow children if Sony would allow it. A small but vocal audience has called for its return since public servers were closed in November 2017, rendering the game unplayable and comfort says it was this dedication from fans that convinced him to pursue negotiations with Sony over the rights. Quote, I'd like to thank first and foremost, the fans of the tomorrow children. Without whom I would never have had the confidence to keep pursuing the deal. Cuthbert said in an announcement today, he continues, are fans are some of the most amazing gamers out there. And every day for the past four years, they've kept the dream alive. I think the happiest thing about this decision is imagining the enjoyment, those fans will feel as they reenter the crazy post apocalyptic neo Soviet world of the tomorrow children. Secondly, I'd like to thank Sony interactive entertainment for also working with me to have the IP returned to queue games. It has taken a concerted effort by all of us to get this get to this ultimate step, and I'm full of gratitude to everyone involved in the process. The tomorrow children, children was an online only multiplayer experience in which players collaborated to build towns, farm resources and protect the world from attackers. All set in a surreal Soviet infected post apocalypse. I'm going to stop there. There's more to the article, go to IG, if you want to check out more and get more context for it. But Gary, did you ever play or were you ever familiar with the tomorrow children? No, but it sounds cool, and I just want to say in general, a fair play did vote to the developers to forgetting it back. It's one of the hardest. It's a very, very hard thing to do from a legal, you know, financial standpoint, whatever, that once you've sell the rights to something to a big company, getting it back can be very, very difficult to do it. It can be very expensive and those negotiations can be very hard. So fair play to them for navigating that maze and getting it back. It's a very, very hard thing to do. But I understand why companies like the developers like this want to do it. It can be heartbreaking. You sell the rights to something to a big company in the hope that that will represent like the next step. You know, he's going to take your game to the next level. But it doesn't always happen, right? Sometimes those big companies will buy a game and they won't fully support it. They're just going to stick it on a shelf and not really get behind it. And now you're stuck, oh, man, I work really, really hard to develop this thing that I love. It's my creation, sold it to this company and now they're just like doing nothing with it. That's kind of heartbreaking. Like, give it back to me. I'll do something with it. But again, it's not always easy to get the company to kind of let it revert to you. So, well, well done to them and I hope I hope they're able to do more with it than Sony was apparently willing to do. Yeah. I think this is awesome. You know, the tomorrow children was one that I never had a big interest in. I would always see the trailers and go, oh, that was a cool R style, but I don't know if this game is necessarily for me. And I think it having a small player base probably spoke to the fact that it just wasn't that widely people weren't widely excited about it, right? It was this PlayStation first party game that came out, didn't really make waves. I think people just looked at it and went, what is this and kind of moved on from it? It makes sense that it went away, but I do think that it is awesome to your point, Gary that the creator can go to Sony and go, hey, can I have this back? Can you give this back to me? Can we make a deal select actually do something with this because I care about this? And it reminds me of when square index and IL interactive split and Square Enix let iona active have hit man. That is not a thing that companies usually do. I think the move for big companies like that is to hold on to you and IP that they believe is valuable. And I know the tomorrow. Isn't necessarily a terminal children isn't necessarily a valuable IP, but any IP can be valuable, right? That's something I usually keep in your pocket. Here's the thing it's hard. The reason why one of the reasons why I think it's hard to do is even if a company like Sony doesn't believe that a particular property that they own has a lot of potential, which is why they're letting it sit on a shelf. They don't want to give it back to someone else in case if they then go have a big hit with it. That looks only look bad. So you weren't able to kind of have the vision for this game that we were then able to go do, sold it to another company and it's always embarrassing, like, you know, all the publishers that turned down Harry Potter or all the actors that turned down neo in the matrix like, oh, man, why couldn't I see what someone else saw? There was big potential there and we let it go across the street and someone else had a big hit with it after we turned it down. That makes the people that turned it down look bad. So there is some risk associated for Sony. And companies like that when they let something revert because, you know, there's some kind of reputational risk involved..

But I'm guessing it is going to be a lot of announcements that certain Indie Games planned for release on playstation four will also be coming to playstation five. You know and stuff like that

"Right now I'm here with Tina Amini Sam, claiborne and Lucille Brian. WHAT'S UP, everybody? Hey. Hello, there Thank you for joining me on this. Very special edition of Games cube part of June simmer gaining. We've got to talk about Sony's playstation, five future of gaming event yesterday and I give me serve overall impressions. Would you think of the show? Let's start with Tina. It Yeah I. Mean twofold right like I thought the Games were really amazing. They had thirty seven games, which is really impressive There's something exciting about every single one of them. We got to see the actual console design finally just a really big news drop their, and honestly I was just overall impressive with the production value general, especially given you know work from home mandates and working and living through the quarantine, so I thought they did a really good job. That was exciting to watch. Lucy era, a regular cast member of our place in podcast podcast beyond and I know you. did a bunch of pre and post show coverage of yesterday. What were your overall impressions okay? Festival beyond second of all. I thought that the show is great. I think as Tina said that was a great lineup of games. it. Really Tony Really positioned itself as like this is the holiday console these other games. You're only going to get up to get on playstation. Five of them were very family friendly I. Really think that that was a smart play on their part. And you know the console itself. It's wild. It's ridiculous I. Love it I think it's just like it was just really really fun Shar and I. Think Sony is kind of in the late now when it comes to this console racism. I tend to agree with that Sam I know you've been doing a lot of game on xbox. This generation did the conference yesterday. Do Anything to sort of change your mind about where you'll be spending your time. There! There's so many games across both systems that are awesome I think you're gonNA be fine with either system at this point, but man I really liked yesterday's show because I always say this I. Don't really care how the console looks. So there's this looks Kinda goofy and I don't really want it outside of my home console. I kind of want to put it in a cabinet. We'll see how that goes, but I do think. The Games are really important focus on demand. There are such such A. A huge variety of games and one thing that I need to do is start like seeing the previews of these games, which we're doing and stuff like that because I want to see what they look like Super High Rez. Glorious Four K. because I've seen is like my best youtube up. You know and like I can't really see if they look different next Gen, but they look fun and that's awesome. Like. What was it Tina thirty seven new fun games to check out now that so exacly? That's really I can't wait. I was I was a little bit shocked. At how many games there were in the conference yesterday? Also just. It's crazy to think that you know Sony backed out of the three last year. They weren't planning incoming this year, but then gets cancelled and now Sony's back with a three level conference. The Week of Winnie three would have been in like Microsoft is nowhere to be seen. It's disagrees when. Is a wild ride all statement. I. Are So good. They're like they're like so like. Did you just show the trailer? Show that there's nobody walking around and pacing. Honestly I was a little bit amazed that they were able to get. People cut out on black backgrounds for the interviews that they had like. I don't really know how they pulled that off. They look at our crazy steph back here, but they literally pro and I think they did a really good job. Just showing the important stuff and I liked that. So as as the event was going on, and we just kept seeing game after game after game I started to wonder if they were going to show, go the hardware, but of course at the they did at the end revealed the places to five hardware, and it has been It's been. It's been a talking point for sure. If a wildly different council design I'm in the camp I think it's a little a little gaudy and I much prefer the sort of. Silence Classy xbox series design, but I know that a apparently I'm in the minority there. Sixty eight percent of I, raiders say love the playstation five council design. Sam Seems to agree with me. Lucy is a little bit more in favor of it Tina. How do you feel about it? I think I'm in the like ten, or whatever other remaining percent of Jan polled readers that just don't really care. I'm fine with either way. It's going to be the system that I play hopefully the amazing games that they showcased in the conference the other day, and that's the thing that I have my mind most on, and then the controller, which looks comfortable and maneuverable. 'cause. That's obviously the vehicle by which we're experiencing the game, so the console I'll I'll throw it up next to my TV I. Don't mind either way. Yeah it's pretty cool. Very different. That is very different I like the design of the controller a lot. But I think the council. The council's pretty ugly to me. We have a quote from Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan explaining the design choice today said the playstation sits in the living area of most homes, and we kind of felt it'd be nice to provide a design that would really grace most living areas. That's what we do and you know. We think we've been successful in that. Jim. My wife would beg to differ with you. There's no way she would let me have. But, like what? What does Jan Ryan's Living Room? Look like if that is kind of like. Just said like an easy thing to slip into it I. Mean I i. just think this design is bonkers. It's basically the of the gaming console equivalent of racing stripes on a car. It's just so silly and I love it. I love it because every other game console the. Being conservative with its design and this is just so ridiculously out there.

The Last of Us Part 2: The leak situation

"I can jump in. I just to address the big. I guess draft in the room to keep it on message in talk a little bit about the last of us are too because we did talk about it last week when the release date was revealed as the unfortunate spread of leaks online of meter story beats again. We are not going to be addressing any spoilers in specific detailed despite how many people try to tweet those spoilers at us. We're not going to talk about them on the show so you can listen worry free but it is worth mentioning that since last recorded The game has gone gold So it is officially being pressed discs. stuff is getting ready for the I don't really know what they prep there. But that's getting handled right now. The game is in a complete state. Neil Druckman. Put out a video message because normally this would be a time for the team to be together and celebrating but of course everyone is working from home so he put out a message alluding a little bit to the the leaks and specifically mentioned. Were really excited for you to play because no matter what you've seen no matter what you've heard this game meant to be played through from beginning to end like is a complete full thing that has so much context to it that they really want you to play all the way through That said and I'm GONNA pull up the specifics but Sony has essentially found the leakers and despite what we were talking about last week and I obviously want to set the retreat. A Sony confirmed that the individuals who did the hacking however did Were identified. Sony of course isn't mentioning who they are and they are not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment or Naughty Dog So I know we a bit. Yes yeah I know. We talked a bit last week on this show. And a lot of other shows about like the concept of understandably upset employee possibly upset at crunch hours in sort of working conditions alleged. They had to work with wanting retribution. In some way that has been one of the narratives that was funded out this which we discussed last week. That is not the case as far as we have been told by soon. Yeah that said I think we all kind of agree right now. I think Druckman quote about the game really rings true that like this is the thing. We all want to experience all the way through from beginning to end. I don't know how you guys feel but like even if I've been spoiled on bit or piece of this I don't think knowing a little aspect of this game will make me not want to play because I want to understand the full story ramifications. Yeah To speak to that real quick. The Thing I did when I first heard about the spoilers Being out in the wild was I did what I do for you. Know Star Wars movies in marvel stuff. Anything like Vaguely excited for I went on twitter. And I put in like a ton of key words to mute so they wouldn't pop up and I also did the same with I forget the name of it. But there's basically a chrome plug where you can do. All of that and I was like all right here. We go six weeks away. I'll do what I can and then I was reading a random tweet from. I believe it was like Otaku about something that was even remotely related to the game and I did what I always do. Which is sort of just like inherently. Scroll down past the first tweet to see how people are responding And there was a J. Peg with all the spoilers in it Or at least some big ones certainly big ones that people think that they know because the reality is is we don't know everything And so I was Kinda like well. There goes that my gut reaction was really pissed off because this is something I was. You know fairly exciting for despite the fact that I think we spent a a year on record on the show being like do we really need this game Because I think many of us finished the first one where like that was perfect. I'm good if you tell a story. Maybe tell a story supper. Rustling your universe own. Same characters All right well. Let's see how it goes followed by Naughty dog being like this is our longest game ever and all of us on this show who also got a lot of backlash for saying uncharted. Four was a bit too long in the tooth. Were also kind of like. Oh so I went from being pretty apprehensive about this being spoiled diet to just being like screw it read all the spoilers jumped inbred everything and housing. I still have no idea what this game is going to be for the twenty something hours. Run playing it I I might potentially no major beats but I can't figure out gameplay from reading paragraph in the same way that I can't experience for by looking at a photo of it you know like there's some some things you have to do also like I I will say this right now that I've been I put up a video like two years ago when the first trailer dropped where I was sort of like. That left a weird bad taste in my mouth. It just seemed like violence without context and a people hated it when that came out. Because how dare I speak ill of a video game? That hasn't been. I haven't played based on the trailer. And then now people are like he was writing. They should never have made the game. I don't I thought I meant I. It's just again. It's like the the first game is borderline perfect. So what what are they gonna try to improve and then flip side of that? I feel like you could if you paraphrase the plot first game and you just put it in words on a forum somewhere it can sound really stupid. If you're not playing it you know but you you can take like the the the best things ever made and if you kind of like dumb them down and describe them in a you know perverse fashion you can make just a brilliant art sound like utter hogwash. So I don't I don't know what to make of it. That's what people do to me all the time with kingdom hearts when I tried to distill it down and tell me that it's crazy doesn't make sense but you know same thing happened with the joker movie where there were like. There were leaked. Steen's from the end of that film like straight up. One of the most pivotal kills in. That movie was leaked. I don't know how that's crazy And also like random plot points for flying around that movie for a long time and I think that's what drummed up a lot of this sort of you know we're sending in the SWAT team to hide in your popcorn bucket to make sure you don't hurt anybody after you see this movie like it. Just got a pretty absurd lengths. But they're being too that I've seen a lot of people And again we won't mention a single thing content wise about any spoilers here but I've seen some people who aren't happy about what they've read and they're using that as a sort of a jumping off point to say that they shouldn't support Ati dog in general because of what they've done with their crunch culture there and I completely stand by that if that's something if you don't want to support a video game developer because the way they mistreat and they mishandled their employees by all means. You have every right to do that. But keep in mind that That's actually going to blow the doors open on a lot of the things you like Specifically even more

"Also making change stadia pros default stream resolution in an effort to manage bandwidth similar to efforts of netflix Disney and Sony Interactive Entertainment According to Stadium Vice President and general manager Phil Harrison. So essentially what they're doing is doing the default resolution down to ten eighty P instead of four K. This is not surprising. Sony Pulls Popular Mario Creation From Dreams After Nintendo Complaint

"Reportedly Pulls Mario Chretien from dreams. After Nintendo complaints will never saw that coming. I am so shocked. Reportedly pulling the Super Mario Creation for dreams after Nintendo issued a complaint according to report from Nintendo via. You're a Gamer. Dreams player piece of craft took to twitter to talk about their creation getting pulled from the game. Alleging they're Super Mario model which is available for other players in their own dream. Creations was taken down piece of craft also stated that they received an email from Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe that said Nintendo had issued a complaint about their intellectual property. Being used in a Sony game piece of crafts. Mario model can be seen used in other user creations. It's unclear if those creations have been impacted by Sony's decision to remove it piece of craft followed up again by saying that they can no longer edit the Mario creation as it's been marked as removed due to copyright material quote can remix it but the original. I can no longer edit and others will not find or be able to use not to share what will happen to levels that use. The Mario Guess we'll have to wait and see kind of a slap on the wrist and then Real Quick Business Attorney Richard. Ho Egg of law and virtual legality notes that this isn't entirely unexpected development and given mitigate medium molecules passed with little big planet but the terms of service agreement appears to cover Sony on issues like this quotes Nintendo's wealth it's legal rights here but that doesn't necessarily make it a good businesses different companies are going to have different tolerances for the use of their property by others even if infringing and I think many companies have essentially decided that use of their Ip and seems instruments are in places like dreams ultimately serves Morris positive marketing than anything else.

"Dreams. Creators are getting hit with cease and desist notices from Nintendo. It looks like the grace period. Where fans could create content in dreams based on trademark content like games and models based on? Mario characters for example is coming to a close. The license and trademark owners are reaching out to dreams traders and requesting that they cease creating content based on existing properties. Go Nintendo is reporting on one particular Creator who received a request to stop creating Mario content in dreams quoting from Goan intendo dreams. Content Creator at peace of craft has shared a note stating that a big video game company reached out about his projects and asked him to stop wondering what the company is and say message at peace of craft states that all of his Mario Projects and dreams are now on hold to get even more specific at peace of craft said. He received an email from the legal and business affairs division of Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe which stated that Nintendo had objected to the use of Mario in his dreams project. Expect the same to happen for any other nintendo related. Ip that fans try to recreate and dreams so that was from go. Nintendo this was inevitable unsurprising and I honestly I don't fault any company for trying to prevent their intellectual property from being used in ways that they can't control from the moment dreams was announced. I think everyone has been curious about how this was to be handled and where the line was going to be drawn and it looks like Nintendo as they usually are pulling out the big black sharpie and drunk I on the one hand. The content people are creating based on properties. They love has been really fun and silly and I really like it but on the other hand dreams should be a place where creators are making their own unique stuff and the more original amazing content people are creating the better dreams will be is definitely a bummer for the creators in particular though who've spent lots of time and energy creating the stuff. An Update on Next-Gen: PlayStation 5 Launches Holiday 2020

"The world today in the past not too distant past on the playstation blog Sony provided an update for its next generation console which is now officially called playstation five and is releasing during twenty twenty s holiday season Jim Ryan Sony Interactive Entertainment's president and CEO also outlined changes to the playstation fives control. more quote there are two key innovations with the playstation fives new controller I for adopting haptic feedback to replace the rumbled technology found in controllers since the fifth generation consoles with haptic feel truly feel a broader range of feedback so crashing into a wall in a race car feels much different than making a tackle on a football field you can even get a sense variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plotting through mud the second feature is with Sony is calling adaptive triggers which allows developers to determine the the resistance of the Lt when Archie Buttons Ryan gave an example of drawing a boas away developer can make the button a little harder to push he also noted that developers have early versions of the controller elsewhere wired has also dropped some information on the upcoming system specifically the consoles menu I it's being expanded to that players can see what's happening in a game without having to boot it Yep so from the main menu you can see which multiplayer matches are available in real time or what single player missions and or rewards can be tackled tunas press whatsoever place in five no officially slated to go against xbox is yet to be named project scarlet Next Generation Machine in holiday twenty twenty sound likely we'll get full reveals of these machines late until the twenty

"Hot off the at playstation twitter account take Shawn layden former worldwide studios chairman has departed Sony Interactive Entertainment on later Gaal Wash right that article real quick nicer than ninety percent of the replies to that tweet wow really mad about censoring them right into games. Take even okay. Let's fucking yeah okay. It's hard to remember that way to get the message out there. That's that's shorter. Make him take notice. The Planet's gone that that first line made me think it was going to take it morbid turn yeah it is with great emotion that we announced the worldwide studios Chairman Shawn Layden. We'll be departing SL is visionary leadership will be greatly missed. We wish him success in future endeavors say no. They don't say which I'm deeply grateful for his years of service service he wrote that feels like kind of abrupt for somebody at that level. I don't know if it was real. Good through really was really. was you got an offer. Maybe we'll see there's some other departures oh I didn't see that this morning i saw the the some Japanese region head also out interesting I don't know what to make of that. If I understood correctly looking into this I forgot that so there was that reorder the Jim Ryan right at the top of playstation and my understanding is that sort of the regional presidents residents of the read the role of regional sort of overseer eliminated as part of that reward yeah it was like Laden's old role changed into something else but even when Laden took it on it was different than what Trenton had right like whatever the sort of Jack threaten role is does exist the same way and so yeah. Maybe it's just a case of well. Jim Ryan got the chair. You're not getting that spot so if you want to move forward in your career go somewhere else. Also Jim Ryan in that spot. I don't know I don't know man handles crashes room like Champ buccaneers man yeah it's. I don't know if a lot of people over the last handful of years it's right now is like a particularly feel like good times. You wanted to get out because you know you've got the new conflict coming there and it's kind of like the end of an era in some ways it's like are you signing up for another generation of this shit or go do something else. There's that's that's a good point if if there's a time to to make moves like this is the time like they are a you know a if not the platform leader arguably like this switch apparently selling faster than the PS four right right at that time but the PS four obviously has the biggest number by far like I personally think their first party output is better than it has been probably ever like the last three three highly acclaimed doing very well only first party studios are putting out some hot shit like it's pretty impressive
