"You head football coach Sonny Dykes joining us once again, Sonny, You know, I have talked about recruiting in the past and your vision for the program and how hard it is and how hard your staff works when it recruits you recently told the athletic quote. Our hope is we could be like what Miami did in Miami. We asked ourselves over and over again. Can we do that? Can we be the You in Dallas and quote I think that's a really interesting question. And a really powerful statement. You know, when you think back to those days, you know the great years of the you What do you think about? And how do you see yourselves Emulating that or recreating that where you are, How would that work? Well, you look at both schools. They're you know, they're both kind of smaller private schools in an urban setting, and, you know, right in the middle of a big city, and so, you know, they actually have a lot in common on both, You know, most importantly, there's very good high school football player in Miami and I think the best high school football in the United States has played in Dallas, and so you have a great recruiting base. You have kids that love No. The city of Dallas to take a lot of pride in being from Dallas. Um, you know that in sometimes they leave and they want to come back. You know, we've got a lot of transfers on our team that have been outstanding players that Went someplace and got homesick and wanted to come home. And those guys that really helped transform our program as well. And so our goal is to recruit well enough where we don't have to recruit transfers. We could get the best high school kids and Right now we're doing that. I mean, we've got some elite level kids that are going to stay home. They could go really anywhere in the country that are going to stay home and go to ask from you, and I think they're starting to share our vision. Like anything else. It takes time. It's gonna take time and No, what you've got to continue to build your roster and keep turning it over and keep improving the bottom half of your roster, and it'll help improve the top. Half of it is those guys grow up so Recruiting is better. The transfers thing is still going to be something that we utilize as well. And you know, more and more kids are starting to see Sonu is a viable option now and if we can just recruit out, you know not only Texas but just really Dallas, and that's gonna give us a chance to be a top 25 program. And that's you know, that's what you got to get there before you can become a team to compete for Championship makes sense. Sonny Dykes. My guest for a couple of more moments in starting the year has been so unusual earlier this season A C commissioner Michael Rescue was talking about your programs efforts when it came to Cove it, he said. Quote Sonny Dykes has been incredible. They have been thinking outside the box and quote So have you got about dealing with precautions and protocols? What is that experience been like for you? Well, when we sat down his first start talking about this things, and in April, you know the thought was okay. What's the most important thing number one the safety of our student athletes and then number two. Left what could jeopardize our ability to be able to play and that was contact tracing. So what we said is okay. What? What? How do we eliminate contact rations? And and so we sat down and put together a comprehensive plan. You know, we don't have a locker room are players don't dress in the locker room at all. So we dressed in the concourse with everybody socially distance in an open air environment. And then after practice or guys come in, they they turn their helmets and shoulder pads in there. Spray down, they leave. They go home and take a shower. Um, all the food is served. Grab and go. They come in to grab their food and they leave. They eat it somewhere else. So that eliminates contact tracing when it comes to eating. We do all our meetings via zoom. That eliminates the possibility to contact trace with meetings and guys sitting in a meeting room where you might lose a whole position. On Ben. We were very conscious of what we're doing when it comes T interacting with each other during practice, and you know the great thing about this. Studies have shown now that there's really a very small chance that things were gonna get passed to each other. During a physical practice during contact during practice, and so it's S so that's allowed us to do a little bit more. But for example, the same defensive end might go against the same offensive tackle every day to avoid contact tracing, and so far it's worked. You know, we're over 5000 tests. With our players. We've only had two positives on do. We've really haven't had any positives in about six weeks. And so it's allowed us to continue to play football and allowed us to have a chance to have a successful season. Let me finally ask you this sound. That's pretty impressive. That's really exhausted. That's really comprehensive and you're working that plan and it's working to your advantage. But is there any time but I would imagine not everybody is hitting that is hard on with the kind of diligence and discipline that you are. Is there any part of you that's approaching every game like it could be your last and that the season could end it any minute. Well, you know, it's like anything else. It takes two teams to be able to play. And so you know, I think in our league are leagues actually done a really good job, you know? I think a lot of our coaches in her league Have been guys have think that have had to think outside the box. Have had to adjust. And as a result of most of the games, you know in the American Athletic Conference have been paid have been played. And I think our conference leadership has done a great job with Mike Aresco and And then the entire staff of trying to get out and say, Hey, these are some ideas that you guys may want to consider. And then you know what? The end of the day you have to do what you're comfortable with in your program, but we felt like we had a chance to have a really good season. No. We had a senior quarterback coming back, and we wanted to do everything we could do. Tow plays many games as we possibly could. And, you know, nobody likes meeting via Zoom, You know, you want to be able to sit in a room with your with your players and Coaches and interact with each other. But we just felt like that was going to put the guys at risk. And so we haven't done it at all. We continued to adjust every single day to things that we learn what other teams have done as far as best practices when it comes to travel. Whatever the case may be, you know, when we travel we all wear in 95 mask. We were face shields. You know, we we bust half our staff eight hours the two lane to play in New Orleans a couple weeks ago instead of going on a plane..

"The head football coach at S. M u Sonny Dykes. And they're having a big year, their number 19 in both polls. They are seven and one there at Tosa on Saturday. Meantime, chef and soak out tweets simply and I quote His bills. Fan is an idiot. Jake in Buffalo. You know, Jeff, why do you say that? Everything he said, Made sense to me. Squirrel two tweets. You have shrooms in the break room. I'm on my way. Yours. Ray bag. Irate beg is not on his way. I don't think And we don't really have shrooms in our break room. We have finally ground shrooms in our break room. As promised. We're joined right now by the head football coach yet sm you third season with the Mustangs. Let s m u to attend one season last year and a bowl appearance s M. U S I mentioned is seven and one on the year their number 19 in both polls and they are at Tosa on Saturday. 7 P.m. Eastern starts. Sonny Dykes is my guest, Sonny. It's good to have you back. How are you? Good, Jim. How you doing, man? Thanks for having me. I think it's really good to have you great to have you back. I'm asking about this weekend. But before I do, so may ask you. Sonny went on the road. You beat Temple Saturday 47 23, But that was a game where you had a four point lead going to the fourth quarter. Then he scored four straight touchdown to pull away. As you said afterwards. It's never easy to go on the road and get a win. So what's it say about your guys that they did go on the road, and they closed out the way they did. Yeah, especially traveling. You know, from Dallas, Philadelphia. It was It was a long travel. We had a great day for football mean the weather in Philadelphia was beautiful. It was like a Southern California day. So we got really fortunate there, but Took us a while to wake up. It was an early game for us. We didn't play well in the first half but really challenged our guys came out. Better in the second half and got a win. And you know we're a team that Jim when we play well, we're good football team, and when we kind of go through the motions were not very good, and we didn't start as well as we needed to. We didn't do is get a job getting ready to place We should have and didn't play well in the first half. It really, really played well in the second half, but finished like a freight train. Sonny Dykes is joining us. You know, you mentioned that we're a team that when we're right, we played really well, you've got so many guys who can make somebody plays for your. For instance, In terms of production, you have four different players who've gone for more than 200 all purpose yards in a game so far this season. So what does that say about your death University Witty that you have with this unit. Yeah, we've got some explosive players. You know, we lost our You know, our leading receiver Reggie Robertson had an A C l injury against against Memphis early in the year and was headed to Ah 300 Yard, you know, game when he got hurt, um, real explosive guy. You know what we've got? Guys have stepped up. We have a freshman running back Ulises Bentley. That's No, That's not the leading rusher in college football in terms of yards right now, Um he's really playing well for has been very productive. Got another guy, Danny Gray that can really run a solid player Tyler Page, and then where she Rice is another receiver. That's really emerging. So we've got some death. We certainly miss Reggie. You know Reggie was our big play guy and a guy that's got a lot of balls for us. And Made a bunch of plays for us, but the good thing is, we've got two guys that can run and they've stepped up and done a good job so far, you know, you mentioned Tower Page. I want to ask you about him. Sonny, For instance, he had nine receptions for 131 yards. Couple of TGS, and he has broke out in a really big way, like with 32 receptions. That's more than he had in his entire career. To this point, I thought you had a really funny line when you said about him quote every single business Corporation football team baseball team. Basketball team Little League soccer team. He's one of the guys where everybody goes. Oh, we're gonna replace his guy. We can find somebody who's bigger and faster and then you try and do it. You realized how valuable he is. End quote. So what's that process been like for you and what to say about him that you can't replace him? Yeah. I mean, he's like, you know, the guy that that goes toe, you know, the State university instead of getting the Ivy League education and just out works all the Ivy League guys, you know, and And is the leading salesman in this company. He's just No, He's where he's supposed to be. When he's supposed to be there. He's very competitive. He's playing with a ton of confidence and Shane Buechele. Our quarterback has really gotten on the same page with him and trust him to be Very supposed to be and when he's supposed to be there, and really, that's what playing the receiver position is all about. It's about being in the right place at the right time. That quarterback trusting you on Ben started to develop that relationship that allows the quarterback to be able to throw balls. Or you come out of a break and guys to be able to come out of a break and know where the balls are gonna be. And so he's been really productive for us. He plays incredibly hard. Just it really, really consistent. We're really lucky that he's playing as well as he is. Sonny Dykes is joining us. You mentioned Shambhu show for those who do not know he leads college football in passing yardage, completions and more. Those who not only don't know that, but I'm seeing how much of him where is his separation? What makes him so unique? Well, he's played a lot of football. You know, he started at University, Texas. That's true Freshman and not many people have done that. You know it went there and played and played his soft war and ended up losing the job. I think you know, once you made a coaching change You know, Coach Herman had a little bit different philosophy in terms of what he was running from a quarterback. You wanted somebody that can run and say Mallinger was right there and he's been a great player for Texas. And you know we were fortunate enough to get chain on the transfer market. He's coming and done an unbelievable job for us, and he's Change their program. Let us the 10 wins last year, You know, I think we're 17 and four in our last 21 games is Shane is the starter on go. He's really you know, transformed our program. He's just Very consistent. He's an unbelievable leader. You know, our players have a lot of confidence in him. Our coaches have confidence in him. You know, He's one of those people. It makes every.

"We're talking to Sonny Dykes, SM you head football coach. You know when you talk about things like that, when it comes to recruiting and building the program, How different is it when you don't have to sell somebody a vision, But you can point to these results like a 10 win season or being in the top 25 or going to ball games. How significant is that in recruiting? Yeah, well, look, we've got a lot to sell here. I mean, you know when you look at it s m u. It's an unbelievably beautiful campus right in the middle of Dallas, Texas, which is one of the fastest growing economies in the country. It's got a great academic reputation. It's like it's a beautiful campus. It's got a good history of football. Now you gotta go back a ways. But the history of this football program is really strong, and particularly in the early eighties. When you go back to the Pony Express and those teams, those were some unbelievable teams. And so we've got a lot to sell. But as you said, I mean, I think the most important thing you can sell is You know, it's credibility going back to that word again, just being, you know, knowing that if you come to ask him, you number one. You're gonna have a chance to win Ah Conference championship and play in the New year's six ball game. And you're gonna have a chance to compete in the high level. You're going to get a degree that's really going to pay off for you the rest of your life. You're gonna have a great experience. And you know those, uh, those kids that come to the school here they love going to school here. It's a fantastic place to go to school and We just want to continue to build our brand and so that we can become, You know, a program that that people respect nationwide. Sonny. It's amazing in the sense that as I mentioned this is a game week after this wild offseason, how good does it feel to prepare for an opponent on Saturday? And does it feel like there's almost a sense of normalcy now? You know what it does really does for the first time, I think going back to march Things are starting to feel a little bit more normal. You know, Still, we still we took a covert task this morning. You know, we tested all of the players and staff will test them again on Friday. We just took another one on Sunday and had no positive so You know, As I said earlier. I'm just really proud of our players. How responsible they've been How unselfish they've been. You know, when you go back to college, you know part of the ritual for college kids as they go back, and they have a have a good time. The party they get together They do things and In our football players have had to stay in their rooms and have had when they go out, have had to make sure that they social distance and that they were a mask and, you know, do those things to try to keep themselves safe, which in In effect keeps their teammate self which, in effect allows us to play football. And so you know, they understand how important it is to be unselfish. You understand how important it is to make the sacrifices otherwise, we're not gonna have a football season and No, we talked about this were one of the three big games on ESPN Saturday. There, you know, in Saturday's really the big college football kickoff, and you know what a tragedy that would be if we were unable to play because We had a lot of sick players, and so they've been. They've done a great job and again, my hat's off to them. No, it's great opportunity, and they have to concern themselves with something bigger than themselves. I know you've had that conversation with them. So when you look at Texas State, what concerns you the most, and what are you hoping to see from your team specifically on Saturday? Well, I think you know everyone. Jake's sabotage the head coach here. Jakes really sharp guy. You know, Jake was my coordinator, one year cows in a coordinator, Texas A and M. You know, Jake and find a way for them to move the football. They just are. They've got a new quarterback. I think they're very excited to browse. You're breaking the bride. I expect himto, you know, to really kind of understand the offense and really be able to educate executed at a high level And so we'll have our hands full. You know, As I said earlier, we're having to retool our defense a little bit. We played well at times last year. I think we led the nation in sacks. You know when pressures but we've gotta do a better job giving up your big plays. You know, I think we've improved our speed, which is going to help us But we've got it. We got to figure out a way to get some stop Saturday and then you know, offensively just gotta go execute. You always worry about that early on just your ability that Make routine plays and the building, you know, string good place together and move the ball. But again, we've got a lot of guys coming back a lot of big play potential. And so I'm excited to see how we play Saturday. It is so good to talk some football in terms of a matchup itself. They're coming off a 10 win season and a bull appearance. Let s m u to the highest national ranking since 85. He's the head coach there. Sonny Dykes, Sonny. Great to have you back on Good luck this weekend. And I make sure to see how the team looks great to talk to you again. Yeah, Jim, good talking to you. I'm a big fan and appreciate it and hope hope everything's good in Southern California. You've got Sonny. Thanks so much for talking to you. He was last on last September and we talked about the great start to the season. And the year that they had They had a great season last year, and they'll be back in action Saturday at Texas State Saturday for 30 P. M. Eastern. Right. So I've got open segment coming up next when we come back, you can hit me up on the phones. You can also find me on Twitter at Jim Rome. I've got radio check coming up. And that's in the final segment. Today we'll talk some hockey and some horse racing with him. The Derby is coming up this weekend. The chief's got some crazy Super Bowl rings, and Andy Reid knows exactly what to do with Hiss. Capital. One knows that life does not alert you. But your.

"There for Florida Atlantic for Atlantic very impressive in their championship game to win conference USA they take care of business in a big way lane Kiffin now of course moves on to Ole miss Florida Atlantic a three point underdog against Sonny dykes in as in you an office that we know can move the ball they were without one of their top receivers in three of their last four games but he is back so they're gonna be clicking on all cylinders as far as the offense SMU minus three Brad power since this is a great spot for SMU doesn't care about the venue understands if a you know you know could have more fans but at the end of the day we look at stuff like this and I think you mentioned this last year to we're a team may not be so excited to just stay home by the time she looked forward to going to a bowl and you're going to want to go you know somewhere else but they're staying home interim coach and we know it's an interim coach because we know Willie Taggart is going to be taking over at the you you take on this one Brad loves SMU were you on this one well I'm gonna say this that most of the fans that are gonna be the tents are gonna be F. A. U. fans all fans because it is indeed a home game for them I don't against amusing to travel well in a football game like this in a minor bowl game I do know that the F. A. U. football players are excited about this football game laser mentioned last year maybe staying home isn't that the you know the most exciting thing for ball teams but when you were dressed up as an underdog you win your conference championship you won in impressive fashion and you come back as an underdog that's really a Rodney Dangerfield type situation here and to the to the each player I know they're upset about that being an underdog on their home field in a football game like this we're home team or teams have fared well most best in the bowl games when they do take points whole the to the whole dollars in bowl games when they're coming off a win there eleven and three against the spread that will benefit Florida Atlantic in this whole ball contest here I'm gonna take the points with the towels in this game all right we'll keep an eye on that king that game will be on Saturday as well that a sort of twelve thirty eastern time Washington Boise state again that all be at my door.

S. opposition Sonny dykes doing a great job with that some you may just be Candace in the metroplex rivalry last week I like them going down a South Florida with their offense all take as a new land he. against the bulls and if you have a final play for the audience professor third play what would it be. all right seeing as we're in the New York City metropolitan area I won't pick on records with this last pick so I'm actually going to stay in the big twelve and I am going to make an absolute bold what I smiled eating grass prediction with how the Kansas Jayhawks have looked on the road this year they're actually playing DC you in fort worth TX you coming off a loss to SMU Katie you is a surprising six a one versus spread in their last seven burst TCO and as great as a coach is Gary Patterson is he's one of my favorite coaches and kind of like the defense of mind of the big twelve conference as the home sharks since two thousand sixteen Patterson's got a record of three fourteen and one I'm getting fifteen and a half points with Kansas concert freshman quarterback in TCO I'm taking the Jayhawks on the road getting the big number the professor of college football handicapping professor Massey joins this each and every week right here on a fat professor great work is always catch those tickets my friend you have a wonderful weekend thank you and you too and good luck to everybody out there that's the idea all right Johnny good stuff down well more you calls we look ahead to Daniel Jones making his home debut on Sunday the Mets with some very interesting questions coming up as soon as Monday and. they're both gonna give me any hints that how that post season rotation is shaken out. trying to decide from any which way I can but I'm not exactly sure lock arms we got a lot more to do a lot more it calls the big time here is as Alan..

"They couldn't get things said Applewhite's still got some pretty good wheels. Yes. He does. He was moving, and he was very concerned about whatever SMU had in what more importantly, the Cougars did not have drawn up strategically and Sonny dykes goes over has a quick word with the official twelve fifty six to go in the fourth quarter SMU seldom on downs inside the five yard line. It'll be third and gold from the new four foot line for the Cougars. Who again, come in seven and one and coming off of a brilliant victory. Really emphatic win against a an extremely tough south Florida team who went into that ballgame a top twenty five opponent, and they put the Khyber wash on USF fifty seven thirty six and on third and goal from the four Houston breaks the huddle after the cougar timeout. We'll see it. The Mustangs can hold them off set out of the live pullback goes in motion from left to right king backswing pass outlet. Nobody guarded him gone. Five yard line. Keith Corbett dances into the end zone. Touchdown. Nobody covers the running back. His the soft toss out of the backfield. It looked like practice, and it's a cougar touchdown at the twelve fifty marketers fourth period. And that's gotta make the SMU coaches sick. They they called a timeout because they thought they had a scheme in place that would be able to at least limit Houston to a field goal. Then if you get beat I short touchdown. That's one thing. But if you leave a guy that wide open so he can stroll into the end zone. That's an entirely different thing altogether. Witherspoon splash Nick is on the way of the PAT is good twelve fifty fourth quarter thirty eight twenty four SMU back in a moment from learfield. I was reading somewhere about how important it is to eat breakfast. And actually say it's the most important meal of the day, which if you think about it, probably means you should have two of them. And if you do decide to go with the whole double breakfast angle to be in luck right now because Dunkin.

"But I know you like or the no annoys defense during the Kevin Kane years when he was there. SMU looks like to me that team that I think could be the most under. Valued in underrated in this division. All right. So here's the second team we disagree on. So I, I liked the under here and see what happened. I haven't bet it. I'm not sure I'm going to bet it, but I think that's an he has a little bit overrated. I think that they're all sense of line is so weak and running a new scheme right now that a lot last year and it's it's similar at least. But I think that this team needs to run the ball little bit more. Keep people on us and I'm not sure they're going to want to hear with this United coach, Kevin Kane did a really good job at u. n. I, but to me just so much reserve a defense than what he's used to and playing against better off. And it says, so I think that's gonna really struggle on defense in the short term. I think the schedules also pretty difficult. Well, you know, you go to the North Texas. That's not an easy game at all at Michigan at UCF tricky scheduled for, I think I like to wander. You. You. That would be looking at some more because you know, again, I mean they've got their quarterback in play. They've got their running backs in play. They do have to replace a hundred and eighty. Two catches between Trey Quinn and kirtland Sutton. So somebody's gonna catch the football for this team, but Sonny dykes is, you know, pretty good at putting together a passing attack, so should be very, very interesting to see what happens down there in Dallas here this season. So we covered a lot. I know we ran pretty long with today's show, and Kyle has always been, I appreciate you sticking out and hanging in there from hunters. Sports picks dot com and got going on over there right now. Well, first of all major league baseball. I'm like game of the month going tonight. It's my first top rated way the season. I'm not one of those guys gonna call everything. Big play game here Dame in the month, everything. So gaming the month for tonight..

"I've guessing at no point has Nick Sabin whipped out his credit card and entered it in on the athlete. I would've said Mike, Gundy gunny. I don't know. He's predictable like Gosnell. Got Gus. Malzahn. Probably not a subscriber. No, I would guess not. The guy I would say most likely to subscribe even though I don't know. It would be Joe Moorhead subscribes try again. This is enough patting each other curious to know who your other answer would be the the most likely to not subscribe guy that you don't know if it's not Joe Moorhead trying to think of you. Look. I've had conversations with this now with people, so I, some of the stuff I know on some of the stuff I, you know, do we know if Dana Hoeger Sens a subscriber? We do not know that because I would probably data gory of surprised if he does the I would. I would put that in there too. I would say Bobby between, oh, I would be very surprised. Chino's driver. Yeah, but wait a minute. You're supposed to answer because you said Joe head would be most likely to, and I told her that he already was. So I had to come up with a different one most likely to subscribe maybe Sonny dykes. Yeah, I would think something you'd actually be a subscriber. I would think he is. I don't know, could probably a young Chris Menini right now and ask, you know, it's weird because I went, I think right before I left to come to the athlete. I I, it's not a long conversation at t's at SMU Sonny dykes. So I've sat in bring up that I was changing jobs at that point, but I kind of had in the back of my head. So. That would be my guess I'm thinking he is because many has been doing a referring series on them in offseason. So that's kind of cheating then a little bit Bruce, what it comes down to his recovering everybody. So they all need to subscribe to read about it. All right. I knew I was walking. You want. Okay, right. Sorry about that ten minutes hands at. They're only skip down to Joe Taylor student. Bruce. Thanks for the amazing pod as always with the downfall of Easter on a football since the firing of roughing Ruffin McNeill and the recent firing of the AD let him go..

"Yeah i don't know if that question was genuine but i use a really good story as they went from that like huge crazy fund offense where they went to the orange bowl few years ago and now they're defense sutton smith is ridiculous they lose it offensive coordinator kevin came to smu in sonny dykes but they put up top what fifteen twenty defense nationally last year recruiting has incr has improved their schedule this here is rough at least early on so they go to iowa they have utah and the go back to florida to play florida state early on in the season but you know in conference the schedule's pretty nice they've ohio toledo at home no more logan woodside at toledo so i am buying a near repeat performance of this defense from you and i'm gonna call it right now yeah what's today's date may ninth may the ninth yeah rod carey gets i bowl believe he's owen five technically right now i'm calling where are we going next we got a question about georgia tech and chuck and i like the phrasing of this question will georgia tech's more aggressive defensive game 'cause you got a new coordinator yeah he's not he's not wrong though work better in concert with their offense than the bend and then break scheme there in the last few years obviously with the ted roof the the operative phrasing here is bend and then break bend and break little variety so with that in mind i think anything anything on the georgia tech.

"Eleven good year yeah i remember talking like can carolina beat clemson they were wonky onside kick away yeah i think i to to compare him to sonny dykes cal isn't fully fair because he's at much more success but sonny dykes was always that same guy who had is elsewhere an ultimately things just went super downhill after that eight win year and they just had enough of each other i i hope that it doesn't come to that i hope that north carolina's on the the bounceback because it's an attractive school that can attract high level talent succeed in a big way in the so i'm hoping that's not the case that there was a window so we'll see they have talent coming back they have some experience from a year ago because of the injuries coming back if they can stay healthy if they can build on some of that experience from year ago i think it it puts them in a position where you know maybe we're talking about them in a much much different light that's not to overlook that their offense of line isn't a bit of flux and defensively they have been terrible thirty one points game last year off against the run they do have deficiencies that they need to get resolved but i think by large i feel better than three and nine oh yeah they should be a bowl team every absolutely let's make a surprisingly easy transition to cal okay so calendar i guess last five years that's four years of sonny dykes and one year of justin wilcox and eleven eight and five five seven five seven five seven which is about right i think we were pretty high on calorie on beating north carolina and ole miss early on in september and then everything sort of came back down to earth pretty quickly and then they slaughtered zoo was that an atom amine game was they'd be that they'd be that and they beat washington state generating seven turnovers ross bowers starting quarterback flips into the goal line for a touchdown flips over the goal line and cal team where they have recruiting advantages of being in california northern california there's a lot of talent that academically they can attract high achievers that are also football players they have redone their facilities recently a couple years ago they attracted the number one receiver.

"Include the potential firing of sonny dykes who is do five point eight million dollars from the school for termination without cause he has been fired according to bruce feldman of our sport that from foxsports after a five and seven season in the nineteen and thirty record through four seasons there could be some possible on rust the fact that he interviewed for a pair of job while he was a sitting head coach with mack rhoades who was the up like director at missouri and now the math like director at baylor of course they with not rule former temple head coach instead and misery went with i didn't turn a higher in barry odom the previous year so but dykes could be out at cal a lot of speculation involving other existing staff promotions including up its of quarter dicks babbitt tall and of course the intriguing possibility of chip kelly woman over from his job where he was deposed from sanchez go floyd honors stake in the general area of northern california and possibly going to berkeley about a thirty minute drive east from san francisco to possibly be the new head man at cal going back to college after a pair of nfl gigs in both san francisco as well as philadelphia one big intriguing story that goes into the late game today it could be possibilities that that ted thompson could be possibly looking at potential retirement from the green bay packers and a former packers stafford has emerged as a possible name of interest from interrupt board of the nfl media site and that is jog dorsey who was the general manager of the kansas city chiefs i get cut his teeth and green bay under former green bay executive ron wolf a hall of famer is not necessarily signed a contract extension beyond this year for kansas city so certainly the packers to be very intrigued by that ten thompson again is only is sixty three years old.

"The we'll pull logic continues now on as the nation radio the years year is we'll pull eyes day salt very it three game wave in the college football speed right now as according to bruce feldman of foxsports the cal golden bears are moving on from sonny dykes yeah as dykes apparently being fired so that is a very very big earth shaking thing in the informed speculation on long many in the industry points possibly to this being a potential landing spots for former or again and eagles and nine are said coach chip kelly will continue do well at least speculate that and also possibly get some more insiders to that potential move is we go throughout the afternoon here on sb nation ready got back to the nfl postseason the the the miami dolphins up outdid themselves a field goal to trail fourteen the three in the opening game of the wild card sunday to break it all down for a from the national football league perspective are going to hire joining us in the sporting news in joins us on sb nation ready of any happy new year to you thanks for joining us they're ping pong will go quick throwing arms i guess from the first standpoint double get the yesterday before we talked about today the houston texans outfit torres over the oakland raiders connor cook looks very unique yesterday and that didn't look like he was ready for the moment jack del rio said a quarterback can't what debate a lot of us sense of made a lot of a change do you think that then to to pull the trigger an gonna mcgloin i think they were the one point ap and they could have but i don't know who to really changed resulting to do this stuck there without their cartoons he went down i think their prospects to truly figured it pretty hard in there to do the best that and look the author end of the very good texans papi phone scored and rookie quarterback mickey it's clear start.
