Ep 3 The Outlaw Josey Wales
"I loved that song Long. Welcome to send affiliate Lounge. I'm Scott Kilroy and I'm Pat O'Connell weren't you guys who like to talk about movies over a couple of drinks this week? We're talking about The Outlaw Josey Wales pack could you give the listeners a breakdown of the plot? Sure The Outlaw Josey Wales screenplay by Philip Kaufman and Sonya Turner's. The redlegs launch a surprise attack on the ranch left, the granny, Sarah by her deceased son that the outcasts of May in new home. In Wales has a final bloody Showdown with their leader, Captain Terrell to avenge his family. Now that, that long summary is done, before we start actually talk about the movie Scott, you want table Talk about what we're drinking in a. Yeah sure I'm sure could Knob Creek tonight. It's a hundred. Proof bourbon first. It had an age statement. Then they removed it and now they put it back so it's nine years old and it's really good. Let me give you a little sniff and a taste. I'll tell you what I think. I get a little vanilla and a very little hint to Cherry, but what I really get on this is brown sugar. It's a sugar bomb. It almost tastes a little bit like oatmeal cookies in a way. So believe it or not. Anyway, what are you drinking? See, I today I have chosen. We brought her up once before, Buffalo Trace Kentucky, Straight Bourbon whiskey. I don't see a beer on it, but I was just looking it up and I think it's supposed to be for seven or eight years but there is no gear on the bottle. So so color, I guess it's kind of an amber color light amber color was it knows I'm getting a vanilla Yeah, and maybe a little bit honey. So now I'm going to dive in and actually gulp this thing it's sweet but it is mellow. It's kind of got a wage a toughie kind of flavor palette. I think I'm getting getting that very spicy. I'm getting maybe like Okie or also like a brown sugar kind of finish. I'm looking at so far. All right. Excellent choice. Well, thank you. I haven't had this one and we think we brought it up and the previous, or maybe even our first podcast. So I've had it in the back of my mind. I'm trying to think it was trying to find something thematically for this film. And apparently Missouri now has its own brand of bourbon, or there's a forgetting, the official you're better at the name is Key & Bourbon talk than I am now. But yeah. So basically, a fish, there is a apparently officially, there is a just like, there's Kentucky bourbon. And there is now Missouri whiskey or bourbon. What its own way. At a rule. So I was trying to find something, couldn't find anything locally that actually came from there, and it was then I was trying to, it took me a while, but I figured out what, what their Whiskey Drinking in the film. Oh, really. And it's middle of the film where he brings whiskey into the Lost Lady Saloon. I caught that he called, Comanche or comanchero brand. It's just red-eye whiskey and down. There is a red-eye whiskey. And apparently, this red-eye whiskey is made from in Kansas which is the other state in this movie house, that's great. Couldn't find out locally either. So I've never heard about that dress. Wow. Yeah, I was looking for high West cuz it's made in Utah. I thought, you know, it's, it's out, west, that kind of covers it. I couldn't find it though. That's, that's really interesting that they used a real Burbank, huh? Well, I don't know if it's a, if it's a real bourbon or I don't know the timeline or if it's mere coincidence. I'm not sure. All right, that's something we have to look up. What were you drinking? When you watch the movie? I was drinking off. Creek, for the most part, I've been really hanging on to this bottle. By the way, I gotta say. It has the most frustrating bottle to open of any liquor, ever drank wage a little tab flies right off and I had to get pliers. It's a nightmare own everything so that that, cuz it's kind of like Maker's Mark where they have wax when I bought the Buffalo Trace, I saw the Knob Creek, and I was like, oh, now Creek, it's a hundred proof was like, oh, Scott's getting that but it looked at it was like that looks like a thick rubber topper. Yeah. It's it's, I guess it's a wax but feels like hard rubber. I don't know. It's it's weird. But I was drinking this for the movie and enjoying it a lot. I think this is going to become a regular my house. How about you, what were you drinking wage? I was finishing off the Wild Turkey 101 because I distinctly, I know that I drank Wild Turkey 101, when I would watch my Outlaw Josey Wales LaserDisc back in New Jersey. So total just like, let's just do it, let's just do it. Let's go back to the 90s LaserDisc Wild Turkey 101, falling asleep, watching the movie by the end nights. All right, so, should we just jump into the movie? Oh yeah. I mean this, you know, this is I got to tell you, this one's a tough one, because I think we both love this movie so much, and I've such a history of watching this movie. So much history with this movie and watch it for the podcast. I just, I have more notes than that. We could possibly ever get to all right? That's great. I love this movie, too. I haven't seen it in a couple of years and I'm from, literally, the start of it. I was like, oh, I remember why I love this movie. Again, it just starts out, great. The little interactions with Clint Eastwood in the sun. I mean, they're on screen for maybe 30 seconds. Survey, you see, there's a bond between the two of them and I just it just opens up the whole movie to me, you know, I agree. I one of the things, one of the notes I had to discuss was how how this film this. This one is a dead. But fifth film that he directed and it's the second Western he directed the previous Western. He he directed was High Plains Drifter 1973 and it's a very different film. Yeah. Ah know if you remember that one that well, but it's a much darker. You know. This movie deals with dark things and and obviously, but it High, Plains Drifter is different where he just kind of appears much much like his other wage westerns where he just appears in a town. You don't really have a sense of where it came from. You kind of have a, maybe have a sense of what happened to him and he's just this almost Supernatural Force, it's very different kind of film than this, which is realistic. But as you said this starts off and here is, he's he's a farmer and he's, he has a family and, you know, where he comes from and he's, and he's, he's being a, he's just being a dad, just being a normal guy is not the typical. Like, man with no name, spaghetti, western badass, the beginning of this movie. He's just a regular dude. I'd want to get to rail, but when you brought up his son, I thought there was. I agree wage. That's great. But one of the things I realized watching the film this time around that's his real son Kyle. Eastwood. Oh really well. Yeah. That's his real son and no idea. It's six years old. The thing that's weird is he does not give his own son Credit in the film, he's uncredited. Well as much as I love Clint Eastwood and as a filmmaker and as an actor I think he's a great guy off but when I dive into his personal life a little bit, I've always liked. Yeah, I don't know about this. He's fathered a lot of children with a lot of different women. He's Clint Eastwood I mean, it's a good-looking guy, I don't know, it's just funny. I read I read an interview with him where someone asked him about wage that and he said, I don't know what to tell you. I just like kids and I'm like, no, you just don't like wearing rubbers. Like, well, the good part in this is that he can afford them. Yeah, wage. True. So it'd be a little more irresponsible if he was just a regular dude, but he's fucking Clint Eastwood so, you know, fair enough. But I do wrong and let's get back to what you were saying that the beginning of the film. And with his son, I just liked the fact that it didn't take a lot of talk. A lot of movies, I think would have wasted a lot of time. There were you don't really need them to you, just need to show that they have a relationship. They, they, they don't even really talk, they just kind of look at each other and you could tell that there's a bond there and then to see the literally seconds, later the kids dead. You feel like your guts, you know, pulled out of you just on that and it kind of explains why he becomes the character he becomes. Yeah definitely I as I said he does things in this film that he thought he did in later films but for the time in nineteen Seventy-Six you weren't used to seeing Clint Eastwood crying or almost crying being emotional, Being Human not just a super badass. 24/7, like he is in the other films and this this is he's ineffectual at the beginning. Like you feel firm. It's like he he gets knocked out. I mean seeing this as a father. It's it's it's even more tragic. If I didn't have a chance to be like, oh, that that's fucked up. But when you have a kid, you're like, oh my God, if I was in a situation, the fact that he could continue after that, is it says a lot about the, the man's character dead. I agree. And I think that's, that's an interesting point as a, as a parent, definitely struck me different than I think when I was in my twenties and I first saw this and I like you, I was just like damn that's fucked up and left, just that. But you see it through an older person's eyes a little bit and not that much older. But a little bit older, you know? Like yeah, that would have killed me, you know, you witnessed my kids and my wife wage child and my wife died and may not being able to do anything about it. Yeah, definitely, definitely. I just wanted to say, I meant to say this earlier, but this movie particular film, we've wage. The first two films we did we happen to hit upon anniversaries and this one is no exception. In fact, there was anniversaries all around on on this one. Okay. This the game was released 1976 which was the bicentennial, the 200th anniversary of America. This movie came out. This came out 1976. So this year, would we don't do it. Exactly. Cuz filling came out, June 30th but this year will Mark the 45th anniversary of the release of this film. And this film, also marks it very special or personal anniversary for me. Because it is the 25th. Anniversary of me actually meeting one of my childhood Heroes and all time. Favorite actors slash directors, Clint Eastwood where this happened, I was working at st. Marys, I said time and I just happened by chance to see in the newspaper a small ad that Clint Eastwood and Richard schickel were going to be doing a good job. Renee sponsored by the 92nd Street Y at the congregation rodeph sholom, which is a synagogue on 7 West 83rd Street. They were doing it for his biography on Clint, Eastwood wage to beg to get time off from work and ran down there. I had a very long stressful time trying to get a ticket cuz I wasn't a member and I had to wait until the end to see if there were tickets available. I did page on Wednesday at 8 p.m. November 13th, nineteen ninety six. So he did this Q&A, it was amazing. By the way, as a side, when I was sitting there and I was literally at the edge of my seat. Like, I can't believe the stuff that's coming out of Clint Eastwood's mouth. This is so great. And I looked around me and there was like a dude reading like a magazine and people happy, like I almost didn't get in here and you guys are like the don't even like I don't know if they expected him to re-enact scenes of his films. I don't know. They were it was a bizarre crap. Anyway, at the end of, at the end of this month, Some Q&A. They said they were gonna have a book signing and so I was excited, I'm like Sherman, and I brought eight by tens with me. I was like, I gotta have Outlaw Josey Wales photo. I gotta have a man, with no name phone book, a dirty hair. So I'm waiting on line at some point. I wasn't the only person had this idea. So they started going up and down as like, only the book will be signed. Nothing else. You can hear the crowd just, oh, man. Okay, whatever channel nine have my book and Richard schickel signs, finally, and then I finally get up to the man, the myth, the legend himself in front of him, and I can't contain myself. I'm a total fucking fan boy. And I just, I didn't lose my shit, but obviously, like I was, I was like, I couldn't just how to say, how he's one of my all-time favorites actors and directors. And I said, I just think that you're one of the coolest, guys, on the planet. He looked up at a smiling. His whole planet, huh, like? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Could you, please make this out to a club? And as soon as I said, could you please make this out to the people that, you know, running the, the show and the signing whatever? Like, no, no, no, no, no, no personalizations, there's no time. And there's, you know, like all right. Okay. I just kind of resigned myself. I'm like, and I was about to, like, go get the really, okay? And I was waiting for, I was going to grab the book I stopped and just just thinking about, this gives me goosebumps. He gave me dead in the eye clinic and he said, like he he just like it wouldn't shut up and he said, what's your name? Son, get the fuck out of here. Like I was just like I just like could I could shat my pants with joy. I was like Clint Eastwood fucking Clint. Eastwood just said what's your name son to me personally I said Pat he and I was like holy fucking shit. He did it and it was, it was great. There's interaction and it was just odd. Made. I'm sure there's more. But so that was, that was the thing. The fact that I had Clint Eastwood actually say that to me. It was just today and have it on like a cell phone, whatever, but this is 1996. So it's all recorded in my own memory. Oh, that's awesome. That is so awesome. I love that story. What, thank you, but the movie separate of that the movie was a critical and Commercial Success. It has a 90% freshness, rating and 92% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.8 out of 10 on IMDb. So, we're not the only ones who think that'd be is great, because it's black and gray. But when, when do you remember, where? And when you first saw the film, I don't remember exactly. I, I probably saw a bit of it on t v because I have a recollection of seeing certain scenes, and it must have been on, on T at some point. I must have seen some of it but then I remembered I rented it because I was like that look really cool off. See the rest of this, so, I don't know, sometime in the eighties, probably on VHS on a crappy copy, that my local video store had, but it was, I mean, even not letterboxed and I'm seeing it in TV, skip TV. You were still great-looking movie. I mean, the cinematography honest is fantastic. Yeah. Bruce surtees, did he did many films with Clint Eastwood malpaso? It's very good. I also my recollection, I definitely the first time I saw this movie was on network television as well. Probably around the same time, you did I know that back in the day before? My family got a PCR. That that's the only way you either went to the movie theater or you waited for network television before cable and VHS. So, that's what we did. I remember, I remember distinctly, I would get expected to get the actual physical TV Guide every week cuz I could go through it. And look to see what movies might be playing on what day, but Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson. They were an O'Connell, family, staple and faith. So any time a movie starring them came out, the entire family would watch it. I mean, my sister was very little, she doesn't remember that, but definitely my mother and my father would be huge fans. So I've never seen this movie on a big screen and that hopefully, that will be remedied at some point in my life, because I would really love to see this movie on the big screen. Oh yeah. So and I, that's funny. You mention that because I had a kind of opposite situation age, we didn't have it VCR for very long time. We were very late to the VCR game, but my mother hated me, watching anything violent on t v. And so luckily, she didn't pay attention a lot to what I was watching on TV. So I would watch stuff and then she would come in the room and be like, what is this? And she would literally just shut the T off and be like, you're not watching this, and I'm like, God, but but but, you know, it was Death Wish and, you know, Charles Bronson is, you know? And so that was a big thing with me. So when we got the New Jersey, Our then I was able to just stay up late because my mother was a really like kind of early. Riser, early early to bed, early to rise. And I just have to wait till like 9 9:30 and should be out. And I would like, all right now, I'm putting in whatever y'all put it, in Clockwork, Orange, that's awesome. So good one thing I wanted to mention, not to jump all over the place but just I think he can't talk about this movie without at least a talking about the fact that the author of the book it was based on. Oh, yeah. Was pretty much out of his mind. Yeah, ASA Earl Carter, was his real name and I have the controversial author, is what I wrote in my notes. Why was he controversial? And the next sentence is such an understatement of of why, here's a pro segregate. Segregation assist leader in the KKK, he wrote this book under the name. Forrest Carter, who he claimed was a Cherokee, right? All of this came out after the movie was made from what I understand wage. Yeah. And they were like Warner Brothers and Clint Eastwood and the producers and everyone was like holy shit. We got a distance ourselves from this guy majorly just however that wage. Yeah. Not only was he a member of the KKK? I think I read somewhere that he was in a especially radical member of the segment. I don't know how more radical you can be hooked up to the word I was looking for but also was the speechwriter for George Wallace. Yep. And he's the one that wrote the famous line of his speech segregation now segregation tomorrow, segregation forever. Yeah, not a good guy anti-semite as well. So what's very insane is that this person wrote them all Source novel, which inspired this really beautiful magnificent film. The messages in the film are antithetical to everything that that man, apparently stood for in real life. It's just it's dead. Absolutely bizarre. And I read a portion chapter eleven of the Clint Eastwood a biography by Richard schickel that I bought. And on the day, the my page, twenty-five years ago, great book, by the way, you read it. Yeah, I read it. I couldn't put it down, fantastic, it's so chock-full of information. I reread chapter eleven labor of love which was recounting of the time of him filming and doing Outlaw, Josey, Wales. And I came across who's such a psychopath. The movie was it was a blind submission. He put in this book, the web page fails, Robert daily, the producer picked it up one day cuz he had nothing to read for dinner. Read it to this book has so much soul to it. How you should look at it, they buy it, they pay him. $25,000 up from $10,000 for when production starts and promise more later, and the thing that struck me is, so, he calls Robert daily up and says, hey, I'm going to be you guys neighborhood. I was wondering if you know, if I mean, wage, And rubber daily goes on, to talk about the book that in the neighborhood meant, he was going to Texas, and they're in California. Like so this guy's just out of his mind. It's it's yeah. Okay, sure. He loves going to he doesn't show up on the plane when they send their guy to meet him cuz he's got drunk, get thrown in jail, he comes the next day, the guy picks him up, he's pissed drunk, he takes, they go to a bar, he goes to call Robert day long. And he almost gets arrested again, because as a Carter, is pissing in the middle of the bar, and, like, he tells a police, this is my father, I'm sorry, I'll take care of it, they took him away, he sees Robert daily. The next day is dressed all in cowboy regalia. He starts his conversation with I think I've taken enough of your time. I'm going to head on home and Robert Dennison quick. What we didn't get to talk about like the books or anything. So he convinces him to stay another day and he sets up a dinner, that he couldn't attend for whatever reason. And as the power when I get to the same guy that they had The Bodyguard guy drives That they had pick them up from the airport, goes with two secretaries from El Paso, and they go to dinner, where they have a dinner date. He shows up at the dinner date, pissed drunk, and apparently, at some point, during the dick, he takes out a knife and holds it to one of the secretaries throats and says that he's in love with her and that he'll kill him and her both. If she doesn't agree to marry him, oh my God. I totally forgot about that. I was like what? So that's before they even got to the anti-Semitism the KKK the name Wallace speech. So absolute nut job. Yeah. I, you know, as you were saying it, it registered in my head like I'm like, oh yeah, I remember reading about this. I totally forgot about Nazi was, that's hilarious, but he turned out this novel that inspired. Once again this beautiful film that we're speaking about today, The Outlaw Josey Wales. Yeah, let's talk about the film rather than the wage. The The Nutty author. Yes. So, a couple of things I wanted to mention was Chief. Dan George, who plays loan? Wati Wati? Yep. I read an interview with him where he claims and I don't, I think this is debatable, but I thought it was an interesting thing that he claimed any way that this was the first time, a Native American was allowed to have a sense of humor, in a western I in my notes. I served had that what makes this film different than previous westerns is that the representation of Native Americans not only are they anti cliche? They're not just stoic in silent or childlike Faith or total Savages their three-dimensional human beings with humor which I don't recall. I don't recall seeing anything. Yeah, I mean it was, you know, it was a statement that seemed it seemed so kind of grandiose those like, that can't be true but then I I couldn't think of any example to say. No he's wrong. I mean, he could be right. Yeah, I'd looked. I couldn't find. Anything that would if there was a comedy before that, I'm sure that. If the comedy came from an Indian character, it was probably played by an Italian or a white actor or wage, not a Native American. So I'm inclined to believe that without even researching it, okay? I thought his character was great. I thought his acting was really good and I, I really just he was seeing, like, a guy I wanted to spend more time with, you know what I mean? Oh, he's fantastic. I mean, Clint Eastwood, obviously, loved him to death. I think you watched the same documentary. I did. Hell hath. No, fury, that's on the DVD, okay? Yeah. And he goes back a little bit in the book by Richard schickel that chapter. It said something that I didn't remember he claims that when he first met Chief Dan George he was completely dressed in a Subaru. Like he had white suit, white shirt, white tight, like he was, this is completely dressed and white and he apparently had some Swedish chick companion with him. That was like taller than him and birth. During the filming of the, the movie, there are a couple of days where it was obvious, where he was seventy-seven at that point. So, he's running around with some Swedish Jack, and doing this movie off and apparently, like, going out with her nights and like dancing, like the man was amazing. Yeah, I just want to mention if anybody listening to this wants to just have a good time and just read about something kind of cool. Look up Chief Dan George just do a Google search on them. You'll find some really interesting stuff. Absolutely cool. He's he's he damn near Steeles, he pretty much steals the picture. Yeah, he's just great. I mean, with the whole cast is pretty good and I got to something that Sandra Locke. Not, I'm not the biggest fan of kind of accepted that she was a package deal with Clint. When Clint Eastwood movie more often than not, she was going to pop up in it. And that's okay. I thought she was very good in this. Yeah, I mean, I think this was her second film. I'm forgetting the name of the first film, but I thought she was at that, she was quite good. She was well-cast wage. Fit with the character was supposed to be. I think once again there's so many notes in it, so many things to talk about this film and the pre-production and production of this film is equally as fascinating and compelling as Thursday, fantastic film itself filled Kaufman was supposed to. He wrote this screen co-wrote, the screenplay, he he's the one who added the fact that Sonia cherniss, just she adapted the book. And in the book, The Girl legs are not in throughout the entire story. And one of the things that that Kaufman did was he made the pursuit by the redlegs go throughout the entire film. That keep up the suspense and drama and reached gratifying inclusion. But she was also supposed to direct the film. He did, he scouted locations? He did all the pre-production and then apparently, and the reason why I bring this up is apparently in my truck. Read the chapter in the book you just moving too slow for Clint's Comfort level because Clint he put up the money to for the book rights himself and he was the producer and he just thought he was just taking too long and they were yep. Set up a shot for, I think the command she would Josie coming up, on the Comanche, raid on the Kansas, the grandma and Granny, Sarah and Laura, Lee and Joe Theismann. Apparently, he called a captain queeg incident where he was obsessed with. He wanted to put the camera certain place and he had he had left a container of beer can on the location for where he wanted and it with wind or whatever it is. Cheering and heat, is obsessed with finding the Exmark they had left and clenched his shot. The scene himself and decided like this guy's gotta go something else. I read something else and it kind of leads to that. Also May both Philip Kaufman and Clint with kind of buying for Sondra Locke's. Affections. I wrote about that too. I was like, oh that's interesting. Obviously Clinton one that won. He won that one, black one that but he had to pay for. He literally had to pay for it because there's now something the Directors Guild of America. He got fined $60,000 for doing this and now there's the Eastward Claus or something, right? Where you left off. You're working on a film, you can't fire the director and then take over, right? Yeah, that's what. That's what it says and I got to say, how cool is that? You have a clause like you have a rule, isn't it in the Directors? Guild about something. You did specifically, don't fucking pull, in Eastwood. Pull it fucking East with the Eastwood Claus. So good. So funny. Yeah, I read a little bit about that to really interesting. It sounds like they just were not going to see eye-to-eye on how the film was going to be made. The other proof is Clint did a great job, the film looks great, it's edited. Well, it's got good acting in it. Tyrell comes off as just a bulb. Such an amazing jackass. That I don't think anyone in the world, was siding with him on this was supposed to be, there were a couple of things. I did want to bring up that I thought Really interesting if you talk about meeting, Clint Eastwood and getting to say what, you know you wanted to say to him and that's awesome. I'm going to admit something, I'm going to put myself on the line here. I've imagined meeting Clinton wage myself. Oh, you imagine meeting him. Yes. I've imagined what I've wanted to say to him, and what it basically comes down to is I think the Outlaw Josey, Wales and Unforgiven people will be watching these two films and a thousand years from now. Know agreed. Oh, I agree. They're very, they're very connected and I think it's in the documentary wear cleats. It says that he feels, he feels like it's one of the best things he's ever done. And he said that if it had been released at the time that Unforgiven had been released, he thought that it would receive just the same amount of attention and accolades. I don't doubt that for a second. I mean I also found it really interesting that you have Jamie woolvett as the Schofield kid and Unforgiven and he looks like Sam bottoms. Oh yeah, Wells, Josey Wales. I mean, he looks like the same, right? I mean, they even have similar mannerisms. It's what I saw. And forgiving for the first time, it actually freaked me out because I was like that guy's gotta be old. Now that's, you know, I hadn't thought about that but you're, you're absolutely right. Yeah. I I thought it was Sam bottoms is to say, I thought it was the same actor dead. And I couldn't understand why he didn't age like the rest of us. Well, unfortunately, I don't think you got the age that much at all. I think. Sam bottoms left us quite early. I think you're right. Yeah, he did. And he was anything that I saw him and he was really good. Yeah, I and I mean, he just, he has that line. And he just says, we have him again. Jit Josie. And Josie know. It's what the again, didn't with Josie or something. Yeah, yeah, you're right. Getting do with Josie. This movie is so chock-full of memorable lines and infinitely re quotable lines. There are some lines in there that have a dog. Really become part of my everyday. Lexicon. And I use when the senator is telling Fletcher that oh, you know, the old adage of To the victor goes the spoils and Fletcher sisters and the wrong things that are don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining. Well, I want to talk about this scene. Kind of two thirds into the movie, a little later, the saloon scene but that has the great line of Diane's. Not much of a Livin boy. Yeah, go to get to pull them pistols or whistle Dixie. I can't say, Dixie for some reason. No, actually filled with amazing unbelievable quotes. The other thing I noticed, going back to Unforgiven. They have a couple of scenes that are almost identical. You have the target practice seen after Josey Wales, a family is killed and he's trying to fire the gun and and hit. Oh, that's right. And it's almost looks shot-for-shot. Very similar to Unforgiven except for Unforgiven. It's kind of played for Laughs. Where in Outlaw Josey Wales. It's it's dead serious. I mean he he just he's Mississippi. And he needs to be accurate. That's, that's a great Point. That's a great idea, you know, and think of that you're right, I feel like in Unforgiven it is played for Laughs. In Jersey Wales. It's faith is important to show that. I mean, he literally the, the redlegs, they they come, they attack the house. I know we're a little bit all over the place non-linear here, but when you're saying what we're talking at the very beginning of this, it's on faith. How create the interaction is and seconds later? He's dead. He's dead because the red legs and Captain Terrell have attacked his home and burned his house down and killed. His wife played by Cissy Wellman the dog, her of famous director, William Wellman and literally in the ashes of his life Like a Phoenix Rising From the Ashes. He goes through and he finds his Colt 1860 Army cold. I love how everyone is armed to the teeth and this movie. It's not like, just like, I've just, I have one leg side holster. Like people have guns everywhere, which is like an great, cuz if I was living in that time, I'd be fucking armed to the teeth. Oh, totally. Yeah. Yeah. I mean Josey Wales has the I counted I think for guns on them easily, maybe more. Ya know, he has four guns, he has. He has the eighteen sixty Army Army revolver that he takes From the Ashes and practices with his his double holster with those. Those those guns are fucking huge. They're like, right because my back and forearm and those are too cold Walker 1847. Those things are fucking gigantic and then he has one shoulder holster which I think is fucking great. He is a bolt 18-49 Pocket Gun. The other thing has is a Sharps 1865 sniper rifle with full-length brass tube Target scope, which is what he uses to shoot the very life to give the Rednecks in Missouri boat ride. But in any case that scene when he's doing that in Elgin, see, whales the editing sets up. Something that is the motivating factor in his important throughout the entire film wage. There's a sequence where he's shooting and there's a shot of, you know, close up of him shooting. Then a shot of his destroyed home. Then a closer shot of him, shooting a shot of the Grave where he put his wife, and, and Son him shooting, and then a shot of what the the field mule who's now alone and left the fields left, because Josie Wales is no longer a farmer. He's become something else and it's encapsulate. The trauma that motivates his actions throughout the entire film and its inability to really kind of totally settle in and reintegrate himself fully with Society because of that one incident. He's a damaged man from that and and and it's a brilliant encapsulated in in the edits in that sequence, which is serious and used for Laughs in a kind of part in Unforgiven. Yeah, that's a great point. I mean, I think it's hard. I think sometimes it's harder to talk about a movie you loved because there's so many little things that pop. Your head that you're like I want to talk about this. I want to talk about that and I think that's why we're a little all over the place tonight. I agree. And and I have to ask there was a part of me that was I was nervous about it because this movie is so important to me. There are other movies that are, you know, just as important but this one's like really was like really special know the things that I love 12, Monkeys, whatever. But this one was a little bit harder because Twelve Monkeys, I thought as an adult. I I've lived and loved The Outlaw Josey Wales. Since I was a you know, knee high to a June bug. So it's just as history and there's this sense of obligation to the film. Oh yeah, to me, Ella Jersey. Wells is one of those movies, that's just perfect because it works just as popular entertainment. You could go watch this on a superficial level may have a great time if you're not looking for anything deep or meaningful in it, it's still a fun movie. But if you do look a little deeper and you'll try to pick out themes that are in it, it works on that level too. Oh yeah, this this move. Is so rich in its themes and symbolism Josey Wales at the beginning of the film. Captain Terrell, the thing that knocks him out. He gets, he gets hit in the head pretty hard as he's trying to get to, to the house and not hearing his son. Kyle like paw paw, you know, saved me parties in the fire and he's trying to get to him, gets knocked in the head and then Terrell slices him on the face with his saber. And that's a scar that she carries throughout the film. And it's a discard it's like in most, in many movies, the physical scars are symbolic of emotional ones. So, Josie's scars, symbolic of his emotional scarring for what happened to his family, and it's also mirrored in little Moonlight because when you see her at the trading post and the two guys who to two guys who figure out that it's Josie, Wales wage to ask about a horse and get them. They mention like oh she has a she has a scar knows that mean she's she likes the, the Young Bucks or whatever. And so she this notion of of a of scars Emotional scars being represented by physical ones or happened in the film Often by the way, just off-the-cuff great mention. So John Mitchum Robert Mitchum's brother is one of those guys that are in the Trading Post is like, this, is he home? Is it the one that are all scared about Josey? Wales is the chain blue Lightning himself. That's it seems brother and he's with him. A lot of the people in this film are guys who will see in many other malpaso and Clint Eastwood films, because he plays a recurring character in Dirty Harry. Oh, really? Yeah, he's in three of the Dirty Harry films as a detective off Kenny's and plenty of other Clint Eastwood films. And and so, is the guy who plays the carpetbagger. Oh, that guy, we should talk about that guy was special, they're all great month, Woodrow, parfrey plays the carpetbagger, he's fantastic. I think he plays the he's a lot of seventies movies and sixties movies. I think he's the guy that in Dirty, Harry Dirty, Harry goes dead. To the the diner. And he's like, I usually, do you want your usual, lunch or usual? Dinner is like, what does it matter is the same and it goes to get in the hot dog. Same guy. Oh, really? Yeah, that's an actor. I didn't really have thought I didn't have anything to amazing to say about it. I just thought he was a great character and just the fact that he's trying to sell Josey Wales on a miracle. Cure-all, tonic and that scene where he spits on Vegas, hasn't found cleaning. Yes, that bit is hilarious when Josie splits his dip into back on him. You know, we should talk about the importance of the choice of tobacco use in this film. One of many things about this film is that Clint Eastwood known for man with no name where he smoked his cigar? And so cigars were a staple. And in this film he did something very different which I don't think he ever replicated. We're Josey Wales isn't to charge chewing tobacco and many scenes of Josie spitting. Tobacco juice, Clint Eastwood says, for for this film speed Is a political and social statement, it's in the face of death and life cuz he's angry when he talks about spitting. The thing I was also fascinated with is along with me, trying to research the guns, the very end the credit off of the Hell, hath, no fury, documentary Eastwood reveals, the choice of chewing tobacco brands that he used. Depending on the kind of scene that there would be shooting at that day. So he said that the brand day's work log in to Bacco was the toughest in the world for rough scenes. With only one take, you took this one used Redman, if you needed multiple tags. Okay. And if you had a scene, you knew you needed politics and I host, and you stick with a nut, I did read somewhere that he hated chewing tobacco. Well, let's not have been good if you swallow it by mistake I can't imagine neither can I but Clint is as much a badass with chewing tobacco as he was with the charity cigar and Man With No Name. By the way there's another character who's also a badass who smokes a pipe makes me think of a good granny Hawkins. Who's the fucking shit wage? Grady Hawkins is so great in this movie. Oh yeah, he would take it. You want to talk about her first? Well, no will say so they arrive at that part of the time. We're trying to talk about because the senator betrayed, the guys who went in Iraq and killed them, Jamie, gets shot in the back, trying to warn Fletcher, Fletcher, to trap, he gets shot. And then, he tells Josie that Fletcher was in on it because Josie was a guy with a death. Wish he was like God, like he was going to stay there and just shoot him until he was killed because Jamie said, you can't get him. I was like, that's a fact. He's like, what are you doing it for his, it got nothing better to do, but he tells him at Fletcher was in on it? That's when Josey Wales. Like, okay. They they split. They wound up at the the granny Hawkins place and they're going to pay Sim Carstairs who is the ferryman and he's with the carpetbagger who has the major issue best major best secret Elixir that throughout the entire film. He tells you you know snake oil that gets rid of all this shit and she gets stuff from Kenny Hawkins his awesome. So if you can pay me when you see, yep. Enjoys the wheels. And when they're Crossing river, the carpetbagger is trying to say, hey, is the best thing for your friend and as you were saying, he's the car bagatelles, the most bushings wearing that white suit and Josey Wales like wage. It's on them and says, how is it would stain? I bring this all up again to Circle back and elaborate on the importance of having Josie Chew Tobacco. Instead of smoking, it spinning is not, merely use for comedy in his son although very well in that respect, it is a motif that is used for symbolism and characterization as well. Elias Josey Wales spit on everything like Fallen opponents when he kills the bounty hunters will spin on their head but he'll he'll spin on bugs or scorpions that red red bone mangy Hound. He spits on the head all the time or anyone. That's, you know Annoying. He spits of hypocrisy off the cheating carpetbagger, the spinning is great. It's also like a nervous tick right before he's going to go into battle. He'll spit. But, you know, the thing with the dog is amazing because the dog didn't do anything, but he's so damaged bitter. He just he hates em. And best friend because man at that point even Seasons like a fucking he spits on him and it's great. But talking about the carpetbagger. Remind me of another recurring theme in the movie where there's always north versus South Old adages or old saying. So the center says victor goes the spoils and Fletcher's. Like don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining the carpetbagger once they get across the river. And he sees that the red legs are right across the river and the ferryman's like, oh, I'm going to try and make like some I'll make do something's wrong and try to give them time and like, oh, he's not going to hold off, you know, right. He's going to tell the authorities and the carpetbagger who's now you may think is the greatest part the major, but secretly sure to try to wash out the fucking tobacco stained that Josey. Wales has put on his white carpet bagger jacket and he's like, oh, there's no way you could take out all those men for, they gave it to you. There is such a thing in this country known as Justice and oh so do you really think you can shoot all these men before they shoot you. Oh no mr. Josey Wales. There is such a thing and it's actually called Justice and Josey Wales like well mister carpetbagger. Had something this Terry Territory called the Missouri boat ride and then he shoots the line with the sniper rifle that I was talking about. It's great stuff. I was going to say I love the fact that he later in the movie. He shows up again and outs Josey Wales to that town and it's like, oh God, someone just shoot this guy. I just want to see him dead on the, on the floor. Yeah. He's he's complete asshole. He's completely unlikeable. Typical of the type races would be selling the major best secret elixir in that in the town and sees loan wat. He's like oh, you're an Indian. Well, you must have trouble holding your liquor. That's the best thing, right? Yeah, those guys are all great and the movie, The Crypt is so tight because there are a lot of things that are brought up like the carpetbagger and there's a call back to it. Things come full circle you kind of get a call or bounce two things where something happens and then you get some, the flip side of it later in the film. It's very evenly balanced in that way. Oh no doubt. Yeah, absolutely. The other thing I was going to mention I meant to mention this month. Talking on Unforgiven. I'm just going to bring it up now, though. Both movies have the question to Clint Eastwood's character. Who did you know was going to shoot first. Oh wow. So you my friend with all these awesome parallels, I did not catch that after seeing Unforgiven and all this time, going past stuff like that. Just I totally jumped up. I was like, wait a second. There's gotta be something behind that. Yeah, and it, it's loan walkie who who asked him who, how did you know, who was? Cuz she first and Josey. Wales has a really good answer to that but I have to say in Unforgiven text even better answer, which was, I know who I'm going to shoot last. That's right, anyway, that was just something I wanted to mention that I thought was really interesting about the movie. I know. Definitely. I mean, I think, you know, it goes to what you were saying that those two films really pair, well, and complement each other. They should be a double bill at any retrospective. Oh, absolutely. That would be great. I would go see that New Jersey. Second. Yeah. All right. We'll get on the phone to Film Forum tomorrow. Yeah, I'll talk. I'll talk to Bruce, Bruce, Bruce. Listen to me. I got, I got something great for you. It's called major best secret Elixir off. Oh. So I wanted to bring up one thing about the movie that this to me sums up. The whole movie is about two-thirds into the movie. The Saloon seen wage really interesting to me. It's the one part of the movie that actually, it starts out with the classic saloon doors, you know, that swing both ways and it's like the one off of the movie where I feel like they were like, okay, we're making a western, but we're, we're kind of subverting it a little bit. Here's your traditional Western for you. If you want, if you want that so much off, that's when the bounty hunter comes in. He gets intimidated by Clint Eastwood, he leaves, and then he comes back and he says, I had to come back that works on the level of the movie. Yes, he had to come back home. It works on the level of Personality, he just wouldn't be able to live with himself, but it also works works on like this kind of subtext of. This is what you're expecting in a western definitely. I mean, you know, this movie wage a lot of ways. It is a revisionist Western and it is, it is at its heart, that has pacifist subtext to it. Cleaning food, admits it, and it has both religious, and political allegories, one of the political allegories, one of which, at the time, it was very much about the Betrayal of American Trust. Because of the Vietnam War and the Betrayal of trust because of the Watergate but Clinton said and I agree with him. Just has to do with, you know, it's an anti-war film in general and he does this thing where it's a passive, he does see this. As he does have a pacifist subtext where she said, Clint says we don't have to do this so it does that but then it does give you. As you said, the conventional traditional man's. Gotta do, what a man's gotta do. Yeah. And it's just, you know. Yep. I have a showdown, gotta have a classic Showdown. I love that part of the movie like to me that sums up the whole movie because it's just an amazing scene. And it's just you could seek Josey Wales as tired at this point cause he doesn't want to keep doing this. I mean, that's what I took away from it of that. It's not that he cared about that guy or he didn't want to kill him. He's just I'm done. I've done a lot of shit and I do not want to kill you if I don't have to, oh, I agree. I agree. I think that scene comes before the ten bear scene where he kind of you see that he's trying to settle down or he's as he said he's getting tired. But speaking about the now-legendary famous scene. In this movie of dying, it much of a Livin boy. It reminds me of this movie has as I said before, it has religious, and political allegories or metaphors home teams in the film and dying reminded me of what I want to talk about. The very beginning of the film, when he has to bury his wife and six-year-old son and he dead Champs in the wooden cross that's tied together by leather straps and he collapses on the cross and he just he starts crying and he pushes the the cross to the ground took a slanted cross. And having watched it so many times, I was like, oh, you know, I thought it was I was I always wondered if it was, was this impulsive show of anger, just an emotional Outlet or and in watching this film wage is, is he denouncing God, like he never fixes the cross in the later scene. We see Bloody Bill right up to him. It's still an ex in the ground. So I just had it in my head watching it for this need cast. I was researching like you know this really just really just seems important to me. I mean it could very well have just been like I said that, you know, Clint Eastwood's like oh, it's just an emotional Outlet. It does it, but it seemed important to me. So I looked it up and a tilted cross is known as a Saint Andrew's cross which is a Herald symbol. So the X on the Confederate flag the X on the British union job. In countless of the flags are a Saint Andrew's cross. I was like, okay so there's the Confederate flag connection but that's like, I feel like there's something more and so as I read this whole thing cuz you know they use a subtext in the film like Josey Wales, he's always associated with verbiage or imagery of Hell, or being more than a man, but he's not Supernatural. But in any case, I read that some consideration, I'm across to be a symbol that represents the human race or Humanity as being positioned, right in the middle between Heaven and Hell. And when when I read that something went off in my head I'm like heaven and not, hell, and referencing it is a theme throughout this entire film, their constant references to hell, or being in Hell or Josie represented, as being in Hell or from Hell in the dialogue. The Centers is how long this song to Kingdom? Come with Biblical imagery? He'll have to run for now and he'll is where his headed Fletcher says. He'll be waiting for us there Centre, so he's saying he's in hell, right? And then Jake Tells Josie he's feeling better after they shoot the first set of Bounty Hunters. Glen and like, oh, by the way, I want to give a shout out to lend lesser who plays a VIN this film, but he's Uncle Louie and Seinfeld. He's like, I totally, I did not recognize that until you said it and his delivery, by the way, his it's going up at the same thing. But just a shout out to Len lesser his delivery as Abe is just amazing. It's like a real bush, hog, Insurance. Joseph Wells and he's just like he's fucking hilarious and his the way enunciate and Biggs in his film is great cuz he also says something like, you know, unbuckle those pistols. He's a, he's them, pistols out nice. And so, so I can cut the hairs on that their hand. He is home using in this movie, and it's ridiculous. But right after they take care and they should shot Uncle Leo for fucking Seinfeld, try to shoot Josie Wales. Jamie tells Josie, he's feeling better, you know, cuz he's been shot and it's like dead. Is it good? Because I ain't hauling you all over hell's creation dribbling blood over half a Missouri. So right the Earth is held creation and then blown body when they're when he's captured by the comancheros and wage Josey. Wales is going to save them because they try to rape loreley and, and they have granny and and Loan Watty captive loan body turns to Granny's Erin, says, get rid of the lady who's coming to breakfast. So Josey Wales is always associated with how Granny when she describes her Homestead and blood boutonniere sent to Rio the flipside. Is she describes it as a regular Paradise forehead, too, and when Josey Wales brings in the comancheros, when he goes to get a drink, like, oh, we haven't had. We ran out of the whiskey. Then we ran out of beer. We ain't got anything and he brings in the case of the commentary of the brand of red-eye, whiskey into the whole dried last lease and the bartender Kelly played by Matt Clark, guilt, pangs of Mercy have come to Santa rio. So just it was his other. Yeah. And and Randy's prayers towards the end of films job. It spawned Daniel died at the hands of that low-down murders trash out of hell. But then she also thanks a lot for Josey Wales who changed from a murdering Bushwacker in the sight of Satan to a better man. So the entire movie dialogue and people equate Josey Wales with both heaven and hell like Humanity like the Tilted cross. Wow. And there's your thesis man. There's so many, there's so many other things. I mean, the dialogue always equates Josie with animals, or since he's a force of nature, he's called a rather than twice as fast. He's called a bush hog. His called a cheese called change blue Lightning. He's always associated with nature, and then there's another very important theme throughout the entire film. It part of the plot, the theme of family, not by Blood, but by Bond cuz right Josey. Wales lose his wife and son, but he, he, he not only becomes a father figure to Jamie. He also becomes somewhat of a son to the chief loan Rowdy and loaned body lost. He says he he lost his two sons and wife and the Trail of Tears but he gets a little Moonlight and he gets Josie as replacement and Granny, Sarah loses. Her husband, who's her son and her brother, but she gets Josey Wales. And then writes the rest of the Crew 2 Live or most of the townsfolk from Santeria, right? Yeah. It's interesting how in a way it's I mean I kind of feel like it's it's pulling Josey Wales all over the place because he watched to be this loaner who just goes dead. And all he does is kill the people that have hurt him, but these other people just keep getting attached to him and can see why our pulse him back and forth between the two the next morning, he sees loan. Nobody sleeping and he's got this dog. The red bone mangy dog that showed up on underwear and he wakes up. He's like a cheap. I suppose that mangy Redbone. Hound has no place to go either he might as well ride with us. He'll everybody else has, right? Like I said before this movie is chock-full of them. Yeah. It's it's an amazing film and I'm sorry we're alone for the place tonight but it's kind of hard not to be with this film. No, listen, I'm all over the place too. Like I said, it's very important to the to that the both of us and it's so great and it's so dense and it's so so good. That's what's that, that's part of the problem. So I wanted to ask you about something towards the end of the film. If you think we're at that point the couple of little themes that want to talk about about Josey Wales is Faith and always called a bloodthirsty killer and and at the beginning he's bitter and traumatized Anchorman. He can't resist doing the right thing and helping people in need which goes to like he's sort of like an angel and a devil but he is a positive influence and a positive energy because the thing I find I found really interesting watching at this time that loan Wadi, he reconnects with his Indian spirituality and remembers. They're forgotten ways of his Youth and his people because of Josey Wales after he meets him and they had that conversation and Josey. Wales who doesn't trust anyone loan Lottery pulls a gun on him. He talks in for a little bit and he's so comfortable. He just goes into a corner and falls asleep, but as he sleeps, you see that in that meeting, he the chief connects him so much that he takes the stovepipe hat in the frock-coat. That's supposed to be what the Indy, civilized. Indian War would wear and he burns him. He starts to ReDiscover himself and his power and he went Josie wakes up, he's like a horned toad can tell you where to go and then there's scenes of him listening hearing horses by listening and ground and and being so proud like yeah, I feel like myself when he's smiling it says includes like I don't hear anything that you gotta be an Indian to know those things. The other thing is the movie does comment, not only about comments about the irony of stupidity of racism Prejudice in general because Granny Sarah who's she's kind of like the foil to Granny Hawkins cuz Grannie Seraph. She's hilarious, but for a good portion of film she's such an asshole. Like she's such an ass, she's such a little ass, all that. Yeah. Well, what did she say? At one point when there was the guy's, like, Hoosier myself and she's, like, I don't think much of a Hoosier. I don't care much for Hoosiers off and he's like, whoa, it's a cool. Yeah, she doesn't care. It's a couple of things. She says, the loan water either fucking hilarious, but after she saved by Josey Wales from the comancheros and the camping down And she like turns to load water. She says she wants a missed her anything? She says Indian Indian, this mr. Wales is a cold-blooded killer ribs from missourah weather. All known to be killers of innocent men, women and children. But the funny fucking part is, as the movie goes on, you realize that her son and she's proud of, it was part of Senator lanes, and wage controls fucking redlegs from Kansas, and those are the ones who murdered Josie's in an innocent wife and child. Wow, I did not catch that. Yeah, her son was a red light and she's proud of it in a eight people from Missouri and and Josey Wales hears it and he puts up with it. That's the thing that could have killed her or like an told her. What was what he doesn't bother, right. She does redeem herself by asking a small to say and like I said, the script is so tight. Cuz at some point she's like oh well when when they think that Ten Bears would tend Bears is captured to their buddies and they're getting ready. They're like oh ten minutes going to come down at a job. He's, he gives them all that great. If you think your backs-to-the-wall, you gotta get plumdog mean. It says all this stuff and Granny says yeah. We're really going to show this Red Skins. Something tomorrow, no offense and alone. He's like none, take off. And then when the white red legs attacked them and she's like, those murdering Bushwhackers there, an embarrassment loan water. Gets to to give it back to her when he says over really going to show those pale faces. Something she said no offense, and she redeems herself when she says, None take him, right? So she comes around to, she comes around. She told he comes around, I mean, she's like I said, mostly an asshole. She's hilariously so much, does come around and just so amazing to me because she couldn't like her if you tried, you know, there was a part of me when they got captured by the camera Sheriff's Office. I was kind of like, I don't feel that bad for them. They kind of had a common just saying, so yeah. What's a couple of things? I wanted to give a couple of special call-outs, I think home. The mentioned that Jerry, fielding's music, received an Oscar nomination and it's a very psychological insertables score, like, Josey, Wales obviously is traumatized by the event. So when he thinks, when things are going well and he prepares to leave at the end of the movie cuz he can't take it once, they got to settle and he starts to feel like home. He States really getting, you know, he's a haunted man. Starts, getting those bad flashbacks and has bad dreams and he's got a dreams of being a homesteader and he's got to go. So that's really good. And I also hate not only have to take them to count. He's not only haunted by the death of his family. The movie and Josie is really haunted by the death of Jamie because there's a musical leitmotiv of the song that Jamie sings to him. Is he says that his father would sing when he showed the did the fancy needlework on his shirt. I mean the movie in some respects really is about father and religious relationship between Father and Sons cuz Jamie admits to Josie who's his surrogate father. What his real father would do and it was something that was kind of embarrassed me. Let them in on the secret that his father dead. Because he had no mother did the fancy stitching. So he could match the other guys in the troop. But the music, the the Roosevelt of m e carries throughout the entire film. So the movie never forgets Jamie musically. Yeah, that's a good point and I was, that was such a touching little moment of him talking about this father doing the needlework and just I could see that. I mean those times would be really embarrassing to admit your father, did that? Yes. No. Yeah, absolutely. And it shows the bond that and trusted Jamie had in Josie to admit it. Yeah. And I just wanted them to live. I'll admit it just when he died. I was just like, fuck. Come on. You know, it hurt. It just definitely was a Punch. Yeah. But it part of power of the, the impact of the film and the spirit. That's why it's so important. That the music leitmotiv that's carried through really resonates and keeps that bittersweetness going. One of the thing I wanna talk about in Georgia. Right after another scene with Jamie, how badass was it to see Clint when, when they're trying to hide, from the soldiers, chasing after him and Clint just makes the two horses lay down, right? But he actually does it. There's no fucking stunt double here. Like he actually physically gets these two horses to, like, lay down and stay down. It's just very impressive. Yeah, no, I agree with that. Was a cool little moment. So one of the things I wanted to talk about, I'm sure you have the lot to say about is the end where Josie goes after Terrell and he's just firing the guns through there and so good. And it's just like, this is a guy who's just, he's at his fucking end, he's got nothing else left except for Revenge. Oh no, definitely. I mean, emotional, confrontation with Josie and Terrell is, it's so good and it's so gratifying and so many levels. You have this suspenseful chase, you have as you describe that sequence, suspenseful sequence, wage, Am talking back and trying to shoot him with all of his guns. All four of his guns, so twenty four times, and it's all done. It's all done silent and slow there. No speeches. No war crime. It's a fight to the death in silence and it's a Biblical Revenge because Tyrell is a bloody man who lived by The Sword and he dies by his own Sword. And the vet one that physically metaphorically and spiritually scarred and created the Josey Wales. We say it's one of those things. I gotta admit, if I was reading a script, I got home. I don't know if this is going to work, but it totally works. He's, he's giving everything he's got to just killing this guy. He doesn't want any discussion. No, forgiveness. This guy's got a dog. Oh yeah, and he does it and like I said, it's clicking it back. It's almost like he's in like a case in a of bloodlust he's like he's under a spell cuz once he went after he like grabs him Any forces, the sword to go through Terrell, who's trying to tackle with and it goes through me, kills them. He you physically? See, like he almost seems to wake up out of this sort of death trance that he's in. Yeah, it's a primal. It's really. It's just tastic. Now, here's a question for you, okay? At the it's a very end of the movie, he rides off. And I have to admit, I'd like to think he goes back to the family and to log lay and settles down, and he's like, I'm done. I'm going to be a normal human and have a life with my, you know, start a new family, but I don't think he does. Yeah. So it just reminds me of the other thing I want to talk about. So yes I agree with you when I the first two hundred fifty times. I watch this movie I was like he's gone baby. He left he can't he can't deal with it right. He left. But one of the things that I was unaware of or had forgotten was there was a sequel that was written by Earl Carter. The Vengeance trail of Josey Wales and that was not done by the malpaso company which now we need job. All of the details about mr. Carter, I understand why I'm glad that Clint Eastwood didn't continue the association, but someone did we need to touch upon the fact that we both discovered that there was a fucking sequel to this movie in a 1986 called The Return of Josey. Wales. That was written. Apparently, claims It Was Written the script by Forrest Carter but I don't know how to it's possible because asset Carter died. In nineteen, seventy nine, three years after Outlaw Josey, Wales. Now that I think of it, but in any case, Michael Parks did this movie, and I talked to the email, you sent me the link to be able to look at this thing and I tried, I really tried. I gave it the old College. Try to watch this film. It is fucking awful. Yeah, it's I mean, you warned me. I mean, I said it was student loan student film level bad. It is, it is unbelievably bad. Is on every level. I know that it was not the best. It was probably off of VHS but oh my God, it was worse than I actually spoke to and I remember you said something like the movie starts off in the middle of a sentence. Yep, it does. It's, it's just, it's up to people talking and they've been talking for a while before we shut up, it's horrible. Yeah, this movie pack the return Josey Wales. It starts in the middle of the sentence is you turn it on the movie starts. And the first thing you see is a guy turning away from a woman, it could have been shot in the like in Key room at Boston College with me or Kevin like lighting it cuz it looks awful looks fucking atrocious Injustice, I believe, I will, and like, turns around like pours himself a drink, that's how it's just, but everything about it is sub-par amateurish, terrible. It's embarrassing across the board in every way, sound editing, staging costuming app. Direction. Location cinematography, the music. It is Edward bad. Yeah. The staging of scenes are so awful is like what the fuck? Michael Parks. I really enjoy you as an actor, you're fucking great, entertainment films, You're great and other stuff, he is a terrible. Terrible director. Yeah, the movie is an, it's an intense exercise, the stamina and I just didn't have it. I threw in the towel about 30 minutes. I just, I just couldn't do it anymore. Well, you got that far. Yeah, I didn't get that far. I tried there's, there's a couple things I wrote that I was laughing, cuz at some point Mexican federales coming to the bar. And I say something, and in a real movie to show someone's power. The bartender says something, and the Federalist smacks him in real movie, he was smacked him. He would have been loud, he would have knocked him behind, and broken some bottles or something, you know, good staging in this. It, I always want you to watch it. When you, when you can just to see this one, bit the slap Club. Slap is, it's like a grown man, slapping. Another grown man with the intensity of a tenth month old baby. I know what the fuc was that it's awful and there's a scene where I wrote in my notes, it it tries to transition and it does this weird video effect of, oh, we're going to do a transition where you, like walk around. Like I wrote, It's like a fucking, like, The Brady Bunch like, oh, my only said, don't throw, you know, don't play ball in the house and like one of them, it's like, it's a different scene. It does that in this film. But within the same scene off, it is fucking bad. So yeah, we, all right, I'll try to watch it again. I I got about 10-15 minutes in. I was just like, I've had enough Faith know, you don't really need to I maybe just for the slap scene. I described because that did make me laugh. Might have been because I had some Wild Turkey 101 in me, but it was really fucking funny. Yeah, I mean, look this movie is just not the return address as long as The Outlaw Josey Wales is everything that returned Josey Wales is not. It is phenomenal. In every way is only one thing and I don't know if it's a criticism, there's only one thing that I'll bring up in it. It's Something deep blood. The blood is so interesting in this movie because it was the thing. I noticed I noticed from especially late sixties and seventies films. Blood is not Karo syrup or something. It's just red paint. Like it just seems like straight-up Dutch masks, whatever insert Painting Company here. It's just red paint. This is the 70s where Sam peckinpah, impeccable squibs, and faith in court. There is no Gore in this movie and that's fine. But there's no action when people get shot, when jamming it shot. There's no actual hole in his jacket like they don't ruin the costume. They just kind of put like a like, almost like perfect circle of red, right? Yeah, it's a little weird enough for it and also when guys get shot, they kind of fall down. They just conveniently like in a good pile. Yeah, yeah, Faith. Again, not. It does not detract from my undying Devotion to this film but I just, I just felt. I had a mention. It, it is an aesthetic that carries over. I mean, quite tend to know kind of puts it down. That kind of that particular. I almost feel like that particular shade of red is the shade of red. He uses in his logos, okay. I could be completely wrong. But yeah, I mean like to sum up the movie Clint thinks there's an anti-war film and I agree. Obviously, at the time of its release, it was obviously a metaphor for, as I said, we spoke about Vietnam War, and Watergate and complete mistrust of government and Authority that the double tongues is Ten Bears calls them. Do, and the complete Insanity of war in general. And that's a point that it's still relevant to present today. I mean, this was a western that was both. It was a critical and Commercial Success, and it's pop culture. And as you said before, you can just watch this movie and enjoy it. But what makes it special? Is it had something to say? Yeah, no doubt, absolutely, but it wrapped in a very smart way because both a revisionist western and as you brought up and points it it is also a traditional Western because it uses and plays with the conventions of the genre to achieve both Ames. Yeah. Yep. Lily, I totally agree with you. I've got nothing to add to that. Other than that, you're get on. Well, thank you. The other thing that I want to say that Dental, this is a total Kick-Ass action, pass Western that actually has a pacifist off text. I wanted to end with comments about claims. We would end this film particular by Orson Welles. Oh, really. Okay. Re-reading the Richard schickel biography on the chapter, eleven about this film that I came across something, apparently, so hoarse. And I looked for this on YouTube and I could not find it. So if you find it, please tell me in any way to listen to this. If you find it on YouTube, please let us know, apparently Orson Welles was on the Merv Griffin Show and it must have been around 1982 because apparently, it says that he kind of dismissed. He he dismissed Firefox in discussion but he went on to praise, Clint Eastwood and especially the allergies Wills. He said I suppose Clint Eastwood is the most underrated director in the world today. I'm not talking about him as a star. They don't take him seriously. The way they don't take beautiful girls. Seriously. They can't believe that they can act if they're beautiful. And he said an actor, like clings to. It is such a hero type of Mythic hero star in the Wayne tradition. That no one is going to take him seriously as a director, but someone ought to say it, and when I saw that picture phone need the fourth time, I realized it belongs with the great Western's, you know, the great Western's, our Ford and Hawks and people like that and I take my hat off to him. I'm glad to have had the chance to say that the fact that Orson Welles watch, this movie, four times Orson Welles right? Watch this movie four times and felt it necessary to talk about how great it was. So, fucking great and just let's say, I'm glad we took a chance. And while we may have jumped around a lot because of our love and because of our whiskey, I'm glad we had a chance to have a couple of drinks and discuss this. Mutual personal favorite of ours on this show with you. Yeah, I totally value this conversation. This is a lot of fun and it's great to talk to somebody who appreciates this movie wage. It's it's not like the film, their typical movie where you can bring it up in 10 people go. Oh yeah, I love that movie. It's one of those movies that I think over time, it's kind of slipped behind the radar and it's fantastic on so many levels. Yeah, fukin classic. So good. All right. Four don't even say that's a match made in a bathroom floating into the void maloka tirade. There's nothing like talking for like thirty minutes before the show where we should have been recording the anti rate along angry speech of criticism or accusation. So you do have to be mad. What constitutes angry. You could look calm and still be mad. I could book constipated. That's con- that's kind of the same. Isn't it no. I've never seen you have never settled. Think i've ever seen you mad before probably constipated that you view. He doesn't let me out constipated. Why are you making that fattest. Are you mad about to go on about being constipated. That's probably going constipation tired. It sounds like an album. Cover right there constipation. Depression terry think at some rush rush. Alvin definitely prog rock. I watch some weird shit this week. I will have to say. And i watched some trailers of some weird shit and that comes from us watching more weird shit. I don't know if it's if it's just the Algorithm fighting exactly right after watching basket case and analyzing it. Your brain just works differently. Yeah i'm gutter trash right now. Have you taken a shower today. I no that'd be where to start before basket case in after because a basket case and body orient. I'm looking up different. Shit all connect this a little bit with a movie that i saw for some reason i was on youtube. I watched the separation of conjoined. Twins have deal. Why i don't know as working in the medical field that none of that bothers me. You know the blood and and the go. I'm probably we have a desensitized ourselves by watching these gory nasty flicks all of our lives. That if we saw a dead body on the side of the road we'd probably be the one to pick up the stick. I start poking. Yeah or at least dragged off so nobody else. Has this my dead body. I'm poking so wonder how often there are conjoined. How many cases of conjoined twins. 'cause i can only think of those two girls the most famous ones. Yeah yes have they been sending. They got separated. Yeah i thought so too but you know it shows up on social media as like click bait. Oh yeah i wanna find out. But i'm like no. They're going to show me els except for the reich. Sure that's on the clicked bait very time. It's picture number fifty six of the slide. Show that you have to start in order to okay. Well i feel like a dummy because there are tons of if you type in conjoined twins and look at the images but the girls talk. You know who i'm talking about. It's the girls with. They wanted to kind of has punky hair. And weren't they dating like twins that were not conjoined or something like that. Yeah that'd be the perfect I mean that's what you want. Can you assume that one of them was just like i'll i'll just be asleep over here. Guys you see you just do what you're going to auction one. I kind of. I can feel that to all of that out. Is that your hand technically. Wow none of them look like delile. Okay i changed my notification. A sound on my phone to his screeners so every time i text you. It's just please don't text me after. Like eight thirty. They will have a heart attack on asleep. Alright well it's been next next week. We're watching body horror films We're just gonna watch medical atrocities. That's another russia album medical atrocities. That's actually a pretty. I like that. Write that down. Did you say who we are what we're doing. I didn't that's why i asked you. That is because. I don't think we should okay. You know why you're here guys. Yeah you know what you did. You're in time out yet. The only thing you can do is listen to this. Welcome to the yarn wall. i'm tim. That's jason boom done. That's it that's all you need to know and do. I need to explain a yarn. While i think. I need to make a little mini moratorium oriented. Explain what a yarn wall is since you didn't realize until a couple of weeks ago that the yarn wall was actually kind of a separate entity right. I had no idea. And i've been just describing it as a trivia dumped. Yeah just a couple of guys gassunov about hooping movies gas off. That's term right or fraser. Maybe in great britain. I bet it is a bunch of gase bastards over there. All right guys will. We watched a basket case last week. Yeah it's just a play on words it's not a pun now because there is a thing called a you know i mean that's a description for a person that's like what do you think like just antisocial doesn't wanna go outside but then they switched it around because biles actually in a wicker basket from pure one. Yeah from peer one. All wicker came through peer one on its way to market all right so the dictionary here on google saying basket case is a person or thing regarded as useless or unable to coat useless useless or a country or organization end severe financial or economic difficulties is also called a basket case. That's what it says. I have never heard of a country called a basket case. I think we're living in one. Sir wow man. Welcome to basket case america. That's true right anyway. all right. I think we're done here right. Yeah we did a lot of good work. Yeah i blame you okay. For the following dot dot dot k. Ellipses spelled out or heat. Said out loud. Now i blame you for putting on hold for a little bit. While your wife was getting ready to lease we can record today. Uh-huh that's the reason. I have changed my movie for next week. Like eight different. Okay in twenty minutes. Oh it's been an hour. Yeah he probably. I started early this morning going through some stuff. I knew where i wanted to go. You mean mentally. Yeah and i started going down some different paths. That lead me some took to some weird shit okay. So i've got a lot to talk about now whether it is conjoined in a train of thought or just loose bits all of the place. That's up for you to decide. That's for media aside. I've gotta do all the work. I'm all over the place you're going to have to so it all back together. Okay so bear with me starting with basket case and trying to weave a yarn from the characters as actors that are in this movie getting trapped around the hennion lauder verse. Yeah on especially having to say that name. So many times can name. That doesn't roll off your tongue and having to say it like once every ten minutes and especially like hinton rick is well van hinton rick yes. They bonded over their strange last name. Got me to looking at. It's alive because we talked about that last week with body horror type you know these in his alive being in nineteen seventy four written and directed by larry cohen. I had no idea that it was that old. And i think i made the The assumption that michael moriarty was an all three of these movies. No he is not. Yeah i mean in seventy four main. Moriarty's not i mean. He wasn't that old hall. He was in the You know the ones in the eighties like q. And stuff he didn't. He only looked like he was wasn't too far away from it's alive. Was man one thousand nine hundred eighty two so another again. Eight years after it's alive you know when i was too young to watch our just have access to larry cohen movies. Because i don't remember. I remember the stuff being on tv all the time and it's alive. Was you know later like in the nineties. I think it was. You know one of those like afternoon tv movies. But i remember wanting to watch horror movies so bad and seeing the cover with the baby with the claw. You know Just being like what in the hell is that. I have to watch it immediately. I think i've seen it's alive. Part two more actually has called. it lives again. That's what threw off. And i remember that box art because that's the birthday cake with the three fingered baby. Hand that's clawing yet icing. Yes which i think is a scene in that move. I believe so. There is actually a birthday cake and Just looking at markham moriarty's stuff. Here he was born in nineteen forty. One is he still alive azalea. Oh yeah Just right before. Cue though i just clicked on reborn and that is a movie with dennis hopper. Okay a horror movie. The director is biggest luna macau okay. Ira you're just making all this sir. Funny town got me to go. Along with your. What did you say. The name of. The movie was reborn. Nineteen eighty-one philip. There's going to be a ton of movies called reborn. Yeah a man discovers that his girlfriend is a stigma is a stigmata is a stigmata parentheses. Someone whose hands and feet mysteriously bleed. The same places where jesus christ was crucified and tries to keep her out of the hands of a greedy tv preacher who plans to exploit her to make money for himself so okay. I've never heard of the movie ever in my life. I'm looking at it right now and directed by biggest luna a man a woman that means large mood right the biggest latin for big barscelona. Big is that's a whole lot of nothing a whole. That's what i'm saying. Big nothing burger. I just looked this up in the ten seconds that you were talking about michael moriarty. Yeah and q. So this is just a hint on how the restless episodes go. Because i'm going to hit on a lot of weird shit like do you have restless episode syndrome. Is that why you're just jumping randomly between. I thought that's what you said is that you had restless episode syndrome. Hey now wait a minute okay. So that guy biggest luna. I'm looking at his other movies. There's a movie with the lady with the angry poodle on her lap called kennedy j caen j. It's a hype of dog. It's a poodle that's what a each can. Each is an each that sounds delicious but on that box. It looks like it's gonna kill it. Looks like it's the it's alive baby. Yes yeah it's clearly evil now you have opened up a i mean we gotta get to the bottom of this right. There's there's no bottom. This is bottomless. Here's like key words that are down here at the very bottom. Under the synopsis on kenichi on caen jay poodle. In spain classical spanish these are the keywords forced incest brother sister incest doggy style. Sex with sister sex with brother murder suicide is also the last keyword saw and it says here in the details that this is also known as poodle nineteen seventy nine can eat. Shea does say comedy. It's as comedy drama mystery. So maybe we're just near the idiots now. That was very strange though to see that. Yeah you know what else he did. Anguish yawn with Zelda rubinstein on the front of it this poodle is clean. what did you do through it. I've seen the cover of this a billion times. It looked too cheesy to rent. But i did not realize that those are like eyeballs behind her. No i thought those were knobs. Nears something yeah. I just know the cover with her face and that the the sorely yeah. Yeah yeah like. She was playing dreamcast. Yeah oh yeah. Big dreamcast enthusiast. That's it zelda and michael lerner. I only watched horror tv this weekend. Okay we started the evil right. I watched the first episode of that. I don't know what it airs on. It's kind of like csi right like during the day but then at night it turns into sort of a James wan kind of fame. You know there's a guy in makeup. I'll just say that without ruining anything That is very scary. And then the girls from westworld. I can't think of her name but she's really good. Why did i bring that up. Metallo joe check it out guys. Yeah and we also started. The new season of american horror story did not started yet. It's called double feature right. Is the name of this season. I'm starting to understand what it's about but It's very strange. I mean they're all pretty. Well i guess that's not true. Some of them are pretty straightforward. You know but this one is. I've were two episodes in and not exactly sure what's going all right. I didn't realize it's already two episodes. I i'm behind on a lot of stuff. Oh da that's why. I wanted to say that Evil has a kurt fuller. Is her psychiatrist in it. Okay kurt fuller is. He's been an ever my god. No he was in ghostbusters. He's was he. Yeah to get your video right. I spent a lot of time putting a hoodie on the till the may i can tell. It's seamless seamless less lot of fun. This is what i do in my spare time. If i'm not working on the podcast i'm working on out. Sorry the podcast. Not working on the podcast. Working on the podcasts. All right. let's go to basket case now. Let's start this this whole train. I'm going to take down some weird shit and i'll have many tangents along the way choo choo as. We already talked about everybody. That seems to be in frank. Kenan loaders movie and basket case in particular. Live within a block of him. I think they also came to revisit and other movies from in lauder. Some of them did a lot of them. Just start in this movie and probably said No i'm not working with you ever again. You have steered me away from movies period. They just like crawl back into their refrigerator box but there are a few characters that actually went on to do other things. Just a few k. And we already talked about sean. Mccabe played young to wayne and his. Yes yeah yeah. Yeah but i clicked on tim. Robinson robinson robinson tim robinson is the guy who stole the basket in the movie. Sorry it's actually. Tim is your name his name. Is tom righteous man. Just don't want to wow get into deep. Wait wait wait. you're saying. I'm tim your your name and hold on her now. St- tim let me write this down. Although it does get more complicated. Tom robinson has to. Oh i know where you're going with us a hard gun. He is the writer and actor in a movie called salvation. Have you said your prayers today. That's the full title salvation exclamation point. Colin have you said your today question mark. And i sent this to you earlier in the week because i'm like this shit is this. It was very confusing. I cannot find this anywhere. Nobody i don't think has ever been put out on. Dvd on probably fine with that. I'm sure there's a reason they did it like this. But it spilled salvation on the title but on the box The s. is a money money dollar sign dollar signing a money symbol money. Assemble your your earth money. I don't know how to talk. That's hilarious because we talk about you know we love movies have colon and this went above and beyond well and then you look just a little deeper and you're like hawaii. What is happening with the people that are in it now. This reads a trouble. Young woman hooks up with a money. Craze televangelists and becomes a rich heavy metal christian rock star. Eighty seven. probably is the epicenter for christian. Heavy metal would you say her. I mean what are we got. Striper to hell. Yeah those are all around that time. Oh yeah so. This movie was written and directed by beth. Be yup not a lot on beth. Be not a lot on beth. Be it's one of those pages that doesn't really It gives the barest of information. She has done absolutely nothing but we will go back to her. And just a after we talk about why the l. stephen mikati is the and say from looking at the cover. He looks exactly like what i picture. A televangelists to look like he looks a lot like a grand Grand think of. I thought he kind of looked like If peter weller and lance henriksen added master gile. Yep bob crane film the whole thing. Those who don't know who. Stephen mcadoo as we talked about him several times He became to our knowledge late in the game. Yeah he's a prototype. Recognize him yeah but he was in pontypridd and that's probably the first thing i remember him and then researching. He's been in so many free things but he's got a great kind of raspy deep voice You can't really tell how old he is. No you really can't. He was born in forty seven. So he's like seventy three seventy four now. He actually is probably very close to the same age as lance henriksen probably so they look like separated at birth kind of yes. They don't look a lot alike. But if you described both them. Like they would arrest stephen mccarty and leave lance henriksen just like yeah. Planned the all elaborate plan. I think i probably saw him in x. Files maybe before ponzi pool. But i didn't know him by name. Yeah i think we talked about him before because he was in a movie called. Look what's happened to rosemary's baby. The television movie yeah. That sounds like a zuckerberg others like your son like a parody movie right it does. I started looking down some of his stuff year Been in a bunch of stuff best. Revenge nineteen eighty four with john. Heard which is the dad from freaking home alone. we're just saying the guy from shark nato now. Because that is the lowest common denominator leave on helm. John rice davies. Michael ironside think. Holy shit and best. Revenge reads an american tourist in. Spain is forced to take part in a four million dollar drug deal because his best friend has been kidnapped and is being tortured by the drug kingpin who set up the whole operation. That checks out leave on helm is like the other lead i mean. There's john hurt him. Yeah it's crazy Written by End part by rick rosenthal right. Eight rick rosenthal. We've talked him plenty of times because he directed halloween too young. He also directed bad boys as right. Nineteen eighty-three sean. Penn clancy brown asya morales. That's it right there cast anyway. I've never seen best revenge and now probably what's best about it. Why is it better than the other riven. The sequel is called the other revenge. Okay he is also in a. You'll brenner movie. Called the ultimate warrior. I remember the picture of that. Wish on. its face looks unbelievable. It looks so bad ass. The reality is not so much. It's got a ton of people in it. It's got max onside out. It's got willy. It's got bill. Smith our favorite stuntman. Right okay do not know who stephen mikati. i mean. His name's robert in the movie which anyway holy shit and the referee from Karate kid let's karate kid to know that's correct three one look. Don't argue with me about this. But anyway ultimate warrior sounds and looked so bad ass and the reality is it's kind of boring but It is like post-apocalyptic yul brenner. I think is the ultimate warrior. Okay yeah i remember seeing the boxer. Yeah he's just in a like destroyed part of what looks like new york. Standing on top of a bus de people are looking out the window at him. Like how long does that fucking guy been out there. Then they're like a week he's just been standing there like staring for a week but anyway the kinds like mad max a little bit where he is just this ultimate warrior and Maxine how is trying to keep all this big group of people alive After the apocalypse and so they try to hire him to be kind of their bodyguard. It's your basic like steel don type of situation anyway. That's my recommendation are so. Let me let me fix something real quick that yes pat e johnson who is down there he was. The referee enlisted and part one to ano-. Okay other karate kid greg. But he's a stuntman right. He was enter the dragon. Black belt jones the ultimate warrior hot potato. The last ninja battle creek brawl to live and diana l. a. as commonly crap about the mastery the vampire slayer. There's no master in there or are you sure. Keep looking but he was also in enter the dragon as hud and the ultimate warrior. He's carrots man. I think i remember that guy. I did not know. That's who that is carrots. May i think he's got a bunch of care. He was the referee in a force of one. Okay with chuck norris. Yeah never looked. He gets typecast as a referee because of that mustache. Is that it yet. I like this tash hair configuration. Yup we're doing some real deep. Call it deep digging anyway. Robert klaus wrote and directed ultimate warrior. I think he did a few episodes of master only reason. I recognize that her name is steven mikati. I mean he's guy a ton of credits. A lotta shit. I haven't seen. But i tell you salvation. I couldn't find it on youtube but there was somebody who put together a bunch of clips. I think we fell dimension that yes vigo morganson is in salvation more ten seven. Oh my god. Every time more tinson. I played this clip while i was working on. Whatever for the podcast. And i was playing in the background and kept kind of watching it. Back and forth almost comes off like a stage. Play the movie or the trailer for the movie. No the in the movie. I mean all. I could find was clips on. Okay okay gotcha gotcha and somebody made a playlist of these clips kind of strung altogether. Yeah got chen. Vigo is like a mechanic so he's got saw greasy. There was one clip where he was at home and he's yelling and his wife and his daughter maybe they look the same age and he's just like that's fine. I'm i'm going to work. And he goes to work and he gets fired immediately. Because you just stayed home. Angry went on a tirade. So he's He's riding his motorcycle while drinking a beer. Cool and i guess. Nobody respects him because he passes by a couple of shallows working on a car and they moon him and then he pulls up to a stop light while his drinking drinking beer of the stop light on his motorcycle and another car pulls up next to him. They're like hey they're making fun of him so much that he sprays his beer ab shakes up sprays in their win and they're open window good. Move it's bizarre. But listening to stephen mikati play a an evangelist And a lot of it is just him sitting in a chair and just talking to the camera. It's it's really kinda creepy. It kind of fits him. That's super creepy. He kind of gets in with. This girl may have a fair. I don't know it's it's it's all messed up granted. All these clips were disjointed. So they're not together. I have no idea what actual films like if anybody out there is seen this. Let us know how bad it actually is. Imdb's calling it a comedy. would you share that same. I didn't laugh. I love vigo mortenson and i just don't know his name's jerome. Ah by the way you're also rockets. Red glare is in this He has an actual name. Madison's the name. He is innovative moosh movies. Yes i think so. I all his birth name is michael. Mora m. o. r. a. He was a bodyguard for the six pissed. Yeah that's right. I knew he had a crazy A crazy bio anyway using candy mountain clerk in big. yeah. I saw big pop up. That's strange yet very strange. Oh do any of these things linkup to any of the other things. Yes okay. I always go after some of the weird characters and it just depends on your picture on. Imdb if you've got a and this guy billy best yanni who has a makeup from like one episode that he was in like deep space nine. Yup i had to click on him. Billy bass diani. Do we need to bring your wife end to Talk about star trek or yeah. It was actually a next generation he played oh mag. Oh cool okay. Sixteen credits to his name. But he played a returning character in the end living color tv series. I cannot tell by looking at any of this. Is he a You know a little person. I can't tell. I came across another little person. Hopefully i can find him again. It wasn't necessarily a little person. Now we got to define what a little person is. I think we do shorter than like like four foot six. This person was like four foot. Eleven and And all get to it. i haven't written. I have a couple of pages of notes here but it's mainly just mad man scribbling. Can i say one thing. Now i was really gonna wait. Show robert klaus. He directed the pilot for the master Just an update on our club. Also also wait a minute. He directed enter the dragon. Oh wow okay. So directly interest dragon black belt jones ultimate warrior game of death. Wow he directed jim cada. Okay i think he found his niche. Here's niece yup. Either one okay. Everybody i'm talking about is i don't wanna offend does look strange. But he was in the movie in two thousand four called. You are so going to hell. Exclamation point sur. No relation to salvation. Exactly another weird comedy about religion. I guess a young man falls in love with a none but this is thwarted by mother superior who just happens to be a martial arts expert. Toss and his best friend the devil of vibrator and some angels and and you have a farce of ungodly proportions. I don't know if it's the way you read it or is that that was just one giant. Like run on sentence wasn't a yeah. Yeah there's two sentences in there yeah no. There's an exclamation point. After we say that mother superior who just happens to be a martial arts expert. I kinda wanna see this guy. There are elements of that. That i do like kim darby's in it while it's kim darby the mom off of better off dead. It sounds like telephone like you say one thing and then somebody else says something and you just kind of like pasted like mad libs. Okay everything. I say is a riddle. I know him most from the private is now. We brought up. The private is times with tim. Conway and don knotts. And he plays like the farmhand. Who has i'm nasty lists that you can't understand what he's saying. We talked about it because he was in zapped. He played to levine right. We're doing zapped. Oh no we're not doing okay He was in a movie. Nineteen eighty eight called frankenstein general hospital. That is weird. Because i just watched We were watching a garth. Murray geeze dark place. Have you seen that love it. Yeah there seems like it could also be called frankenstein general hospital. exactly irwin. Keyes plays the monster options. Sure that's gotta be good for his self esteem exactly. Bunk jones is also in that or ra bunka. Jones says that she was in the kindred. Yup we talked about earlier during the kindred episode. Go back to listen to that episode. Yeah but i watched the trailer for this. And i almost didn't make it through the trailer. Yeah felt it was actually putting out a smell horrible. They did credit mary shelley in the riding horse. Yeah give credit where credit is due. The actual story that mary shelley was writing. Was reagan stein. General hospital we turned it into a shitty of. Is this a. This is a movie right. Yeah okay quote as on the film. man. Oh man. I don't even think i can get through the images. I'm not liking it so far. No wow holy shit. So i don't even know where i went from here. Dude i don't know. Can we stop right here. Leslie jordan. I don't know who he was in. Jason goes to hell. I don't know who he is really where he came from. He's got a ton of credits. Leslie jordan playing iggy. Yes oh. I can hear his voice. S he is like a funny truman capote or something. Yes i know him from american horror story. he hasn't been in all of them but in the last four seasons he's had a character. I saw his face and heard his voice. Yeah that is horrible yes. He's like super southern and super gay. I mean i don't know if that's being like He was wally in the new. W in cincinnati. Perfect strain hires. That is hilarious dude. Playhouse demonic toys ski patrol ski patrol. Yeah night court. That's insane a starring. Turn and frankenstein general hospital. He did not let that destroy his career. He went on the being ski patrol. So irwin. Keyes was also in neighborhood. Watch two thousand five. Oh i just kind of clicked on it looking around. Eileen dietz is in there and we talked about island deeds because she played the face of possesses the exorcist. oh it's four removing. It's a horror movie written and directed by graham with ler with less. Sounds like you're saying of speech impediment. What learn if you click on graham whistler. His picture is amazing. Yeah it is pretty good. He's just wearing medieval times. Had do we have a medieval times like close to us. Maybe in texas man. I gotta get there graham whistler. He wrote dr giggles. Yeah so hold. That against one of our favorite actors What's his face. Our favorite actors that we can't remember his name. Larry dreary drake from oklahoma. Yup larry drake was also baba in dark night of the scarecrow. He certainly was Graham whistler he did some music videos for the about one for the red hot chili peppers one for orengo boy ingo. Which one was that Skeletons in the closet video gratitude. I don't know that i don't either. I gonna say. I probably only know to ongoing. Go songs deadman's party. It's adad dad. Man's bowed end. Who could us move. Florida weird science. Who that's it that's it. That's all i can night everybody. Goodnight dr giggles. Maybe looked at that for a second. Because i was like well who directed dr giggles. Manny coto manny coto manny code manny coto and if you look directed episode of this year's american horror stories just brought it up. He directed feral. I don't know which one it is. You've watched it shows that. He's the producer on the latest one. Feral is an episode of american horror stories. Which is the anthology series of american horror story to does that. Make sense Nope nope. I have a horrible headache. Now thank you. There are two concurrent. American horror story shows okay. One is an anthology like the twilight zone and one is this season. This newest pharrell was an episode of that lucan and it was very good all right. Oh yeah it's got a the kid that played the anti christ apocalypse american horror story apocalypse. He is like a park ranger. And i can't remember. It's like i want to say it's cannibals but anyway it was gross and pretty good. We literally could do any movie. That's ever been made now. There is a link out to literally every move so i was looking at manny. Coto year became koto also directed a movie called star kid in one thousand nine hundred ninety seven okay and if you see the box you might recognize robot absolutely yeah that robot just create the shit out of me should you know who joseph mozelle low. Is he kind of looks familiar. He was the kid and drastic park. Oh that's why he was. Yeah yeah yeah. Why was i looking at this. Because i brought up a guy by the name of bobby porter and we've talked about bobby porter. He's way down at the end of the credit list. Here he's a robot has he's a robot he's not the robot but maybe he is. Danny masterson is also in that. By the way i saw that in and this is where i was i was mentioning. Maybe a little person. Yeah because bobby is four foot ten yet look we we get it. He's a stuntman. He has done stunts for so many like kids. A hundred and thirty two credits in the stunt department are right and it goes all over the place. I think we've talked about him before i swear. We have because he played a return from which mountain peaks swiss family robinson earthquake poseidon adventure. Little house in the prairie. Anytime a kid has to like fall down and hit their head. You say that was him. Somebody posted a like the little house in the prairie where they're running down the hill you know like for the opening song yes. Somebody put leather face up on the top of the hill with a chainsaw and it was like my favorite picture. Seeing him without makeup on. I i realize every once in a while they'll just play themselves and something you know like a stump hurt like you would recognize a stunt person from like one saying where. He is familiar for some reason while he was in summer camp nightmare. And i think that's why. I may have brought him before. Cloak-and-dagger dreams skin places in the heart cat's eye critters project x. I know brought him because we thought he'd played one of the problem. Mac and me he was definitely the he was in that wheelchair when it got like launched off a cliff or whatever that could mean. There's a scene. And mac and me where he fully like roles th the kids in a wheelchair and he rolls all the way down a hill and off a cliff into a water in his wheelchair. It's beautiful it's one of the scariest things never film. Was he just going from like lot to lot. Just like i mean you got a kid like me to do. Yeah but i mean like six or seven movies in the same year you know out. Yeah freeway the blob nightmare street by the wizard. Problem child flatliners. Don't tell mom the babysitter's dead suburban commando since you brought up hulk hogan hollywood hogan terminator to pet cemetery to beethoven. I think he played the dog. He's also young sheldon young us a stunt coordinator in the land of the lost. I guess when they tried to bring it back in nineteen ninety one. Yeah and it looked like it was filmed and seventy two or something. They didn't learn any now. So i just thought i'd bring that up because i thought that was very very funny. I would love to see. Just stay like montage of him. Like with girls hair in address hit by a truck but fun fun stuff. And that's why. I went down that path just so i can talk about bobby poor. That's it that's it. Are we done. So i forget did you is. Is he a little person. And do they get a higher rate for lonzo. Maybe there let's type it in What are the parameters for being a little purse. Google's can fuse because no one has ever question like that before has nothing to link back to my computer. Just shut their home. He's a walk. Did you mention that. I saw that ailsa played the chum in jobs. I think we're gonna need a bigger little person. Yeah okay enough now. Let's get down this yard next week's movie what he say. Let's do it are so am i give you the choice. You gave me a choice last weekend. I like this. You want vigilante movie or you want body horror. Oh my goodness is. Can we get those together. Can we get a body who or vigilante mood. There's one like that there has be Is it an action. Movie is the vigilante movie in action movie. Or is it a horror movie More of an action. Okay but has some interesting trivia and that one would be probably closer to the moratorium okay the actual but a loose parameters report around the the moratorium but then but also if we did a body horror when we just did a body or on so it would be like a you know breakfast. We do that from time to time. Just we do Homicide body order okay. You took us there all right so now i need you to go back to two thousand four. You're you're so going to hill okay. All right who got kim darby. You're so going to hell. We're looking at susan peretz susan. She looks vaguely familiar. Yeah it's like. We should know her yes. She was in poltergeist too. Yeah oh wow. That's her cheeses has one of those faces. And i swear she looked way more familiar. She's only got thirty six credits. Okay and i'm still looking here loose cannons. I'm sorry gene hackman. Dan ackroyd won't will never watch. So bob clark movie with dom deluise man loose cannons. Looks really bad bob clark that yes what i sell. I haven't like wish you could see the look on my face. I'm confused and angry. shit. I wanna say. That was one that. I saw a theater to that little small theater. Taloqan think i've ever seen that stayed away. Yeah you should honky tonk man. Susan peretz was in honky. Tonk may as miss maud then. That is definitely not who i'm thinking of. We get a picture of her from that is not so recent. did we ever look at honky tonk. Man that's clint eastwood. Yeah clark we just talked about matt clarke today. Barry corbin yet. Tim thomason tim thomason tracy walters down at the bottom gary grubbs. He's that guy in the oliver stone. Jfk he's one of the eh. Looks weirdly like one of the kennedy's yes he does. Get that smile. Tracey walter plays second pooch today. A second pooch remers jerry. Hardin plays snuffy. That's i think this is loosely based on a country guy like george jones or like a sure. Bet there's something like trivia on this year there is said. Clint eastwood played his guitar work and performed his own vocals for the movie. Sondra locke with kyle eastwood acting coach for the smoke. He just stood there. We've really on her on this podcast. And i don't know if that is warranted. I'm still going to laugh. It doesn't matter. I'm i'm we so make fun of everybody. So our girls susan peretz. She was in a movie. I got lost. God you devil yet is eighteen. Eighty four george burns was like a household name for for sure. He lived to be one hundred. He made a resurgence in his nineties. And i don't know how he lived so long a cigars. I guess he lived on cigar. That was the joke you know. That was like his stick is that he's literally ancient. Yaojie was and that's oh god you devil. He played both god and the devil rancher. Yeah you see ron. Silver is not at that weird had saw runs. Can't not look at them. Since we just brought up ron silver i gotta get a hold of somebody at imdb. It'd be like. Did you know that the silvers have show so again. We literally go anywhere. Do you know that there is someone credited as vomit creature in poltergeist too. I don't remember it like crawling around. i guess. Did you also know that they use like hr gaiger designs to make that. That tequila worm monster. Did they awesome. I never want to see coach like that. Again and vomiting up this big giant worm bizarre. I started looking at eugene roach. I no. I don't take you all over the place and i don't even see where my connection is next week movies since you're going to body or my nose just kind of ended. Who is eugene rose you. Nobody i know who he is. he's he's a lower tier doughy guy but he was still there with everybody else. A hundred and forty four krejci. Just one guy that gets lost in the brecon mix yet zone. Air wolf executive decision. Yeah roswell tv movie. Batman the animated series. He is like a kind of lovable local and also he can throw on like a army In uniform you know yeah He was in fifty episodes of webster. Nightclothes returning character in perfect stranger and night court is in corvette summer. Hardcastle mccormack foul play. But there's a movie down here. Nineteen eighty-three called cocaine and blue eyes. K. starring oj simpson Candy clark is in asom steven. Toby laskey ned ryerson himself. Needle nose ned. Wait a minute where where are we. We're looking at cocaine and blue eyes. Nineteen eighty three. Let's just do that. That sounds fucking off. Do that Leonardo s- amino we've brought him up before because he was in the monster squad as an all. K- that that guys yeah. Yeah you'll notice another guy down here by the name of k. loot. Yup he he luke I don't. I don't know how you'll see his picture and you know who he is but he played grandfather in grim yere one. That had the right right. This guy's career goes on it and see a movie down here that i'm my fingers firmly crossed. Come on come on This guy played so many voices alvin and the chipmunks spiderman and his amazing friends goldie gold in action. Jack you're remember ed. If you look at his trivia eight is actually married to room mcclanahan for a long time. Was he really know the goebbels baby look we would just stop the podcast and we would. That's it we gotta start holding new podcast clear all this shit outta here we got. It is weird seeing him without that weird makeup. I think he got hooked up with hanna-barbera and did a lot of stuff He was in battle of the planets cartoon. Yeah right otherwise known as What is known as zoll tar. Is that where. Older helmets are like birds. I think you're right. Yeah he also was in plastic man comedy hour all my god. He was master po in kung easier. Yeah which is kind of what he looks like him gremlins. It's basically the same makeup. But i don't think i realized he had that much makeup on for the hell's the first movie the first thing we were talking to gremlins. I'm sorry. He had a ton of makeup on like he looks normal when he doesn't have that weird mustache contacts in. Here's a bit of trivia for you. Nineteen sixty seven and the space goes cartoon. Brother do you know what else he was in. Hit me dr shrink with party. Thank you jason. I almost brought up a little person. We call this the midget cast. Because that's eventually what we get back to every time every time you're going to have to give me just a second because you forgot what movie we're going to do. I know what we're doing. I forgot i got. There doesn't service until you know it does not start with him it as close. It starts with wilder letters in the alphabet. Okay so you're real close. Hey but it has this dude in it though now did i got lost to have rue mcclanahan in it allan him. I'm getting there. I think we started with cocaine and blue eyes. And i know was something. Yes and then you went to eugene roach or he was in it and that's how we got. I know this was the end of my yarn and just left it off. I just my just off the cliff. I was like i did. It dropped my pin and that was it. I'm done well. Then tell me what. The movie is in will backtrack. I'm trying to backtrack right now. Look does it have. Oj simpson an should. Let's just talk about the naked gun moods. It's another midget is moving around. So we need to get some totals. You know what. I mean alan times if we talked about a movie with a little person. And that's going to be an easy giveaway for our bingo cards. We really got to work on this bingo cards. Yeah you're right you could get a blackout with the amount of migita talk. Hey our guy key. Luke was in fine mess. He was in dead heat. Yeah that's where. I thought we were going to where i was hoping. The the d. move that's the deem movie but then i'm looking at joe piscopo those face and like the little trailer and i'm like if i could do that. Maybe not remember that when he started doing steroids and discuss it like gigantic. And everybody's weirded out is it. Because when he was in saturday night live was. Abm picked on or something. Yeah maybe still looking at cocaine and blue eyes. there's a guy by the name of bumper robinson. Okay now you're just making crap bumper bumper. Do you think him. And tinker were the like friends enemies. Bumpers been in a ton of stuff. I'll bumper. He was zam in enemy. Mine you remember that character of force then that movie just have two people in the kid or something. Maybe he got squeezed out that allow. Oh my why did to make that sound. That could go the rest of my life without cnn enemy. Mind when i think about that movie. I think of like just desperation. Like there's got to be something on and then seeing that it's on and been like okay. That is choice. Like number six. If i na and then but yeah. But then i'd end up watching it We're not doing enemy mine. Are we note. That is kind of a body horror type thing. The guy is pregnant. my dear christ. I have no idea how i got into the holy totally lost it. I'm just looking at the kid from any nine. And now i realize that that probably has nothing to do with other than his name is bumper bumper any other hints. You could throw to. Maybe we could solve it. Maybe you could i. I went down so many paths. Anna got lost. Hey do you know who directed cocaine and blue eyes. He w swag hammer. There is no other way to pronounce that name at tried in mind swag hammer. That's hilarious some weird names today. Manny coto e w swagger slack. Hammer's gone he's directed ninety nine things where they movies. Tv stuff to do any episodes of the master. Nobody did macleod. These are the Deep dive Oddities and background bootlegs that appeal only to the die-hard film fans. So sit back and enjoy the ride into the dark Vault of the movie moratorium dead. Shut off. All right. Well, dude, I have so many tabs open because it's just went down a rabbit. Oh my God, great on Clark's god dude. History is trail of trail of Broken Dreams broken promises to be fair. His name is greyed on. Yes. I know that probably caused a lot of trauma for him when he was young. Well, I I tried to make a connection and we'll talk about it here in a minute because like on Tinder. Yeah grinder grinder, right? He's not on Grindr. I tried thank God. Nobody needs to know now. I I'll bring this another guy up a stuntman later. Oh, I saw a couple of good stunts in here want to say I saw this lead girl. I'm just going to call her braids braids. I don't know what her name. I think that's Tara Nutter which come on that is a funny name. Was she the final girl, I assume so because it doesn't show. Well, you know, she just doesn't have a profile picture. Right? Well the girls named yeah, Sandy, Sandy and Grill Sandy, right Sandy. Oh God that scene. I heard the same song. Travolta thing too when he's like, he's in a bar just kind of hanging out in. Okay, we'll get to it but I don't know why Jack plants carries her in like she's a three-year-old or something. I don't want to know what he did to her in the woods. Exactly. Exactly God this movie is is awesome. This move is just a parade of weird faces is all it is. Oh, it's just one weird face after another and you have to just sit there and deal with it. Yes, it holds you down and shows you things my first note on my page. Here is says old-fashioned Crag off the faces. Yes face cracked face Crags. Yeah. There's a lot of face work going on in here. There's no makeup. No, it's it's it's all made Neville brand by himself needed a couple of good birth. Hours in the chair there like okay. Well, your nose has completely collapsed and is running down your face. So we'll probably prop that up with some popsicle sticks or something and we get some bondage in here somewhere. Yeah, exactly. He hasn't had a good treatment in a while. So to let everybody know we are watching without warning 1988. Yeah. It's a little older than I mean, I guess I just didn't realize that it you know was almost in the seventies, but but then you look at it and it's like well Carmen did the same kind of movies. They were just in black and white instead of colors. Mhm. It has a corpsman quality to it. It's a simple simple plot, right? Exactly. I was thinking the same thing not a lot like subtlety is going on. Not a lot of actors. No. Well, well, it's I guess like describe the movie because I just I don't like the main character. What is his name? The younger guy Christopher S Nelson or am I incorrect really reminded me of Matthew star. He yeah a little bit Yeah, I had that look looks yeah, he looks familiar. But then again, he just seemed like every other guy in every other like slasher movie, you know, he's not mean I hate to say this is not attract his face looks like dead. I think I've said this before but it's like those thumb movies, you know where they just kind of like superimposed the eyes and lips and he looks like his eyes and lips aren't concrete on him if they can move around and stuff. I guess that's it. Somebody superimposed his face onto his face. Right exactly. But slightly smaller wage, like the eyes are slightly to it. Looks like a Tim and Eric. Yes, you know video where they've just shrunk his facial features down and then his head is like the size of a walk put a wig on. All right. So let's get this party started cuz we have a lot to talk about. Oh my God. I have a lot to talk about just during the credits. And so I started off with welcome to the moratorium. Welcome come in just brush that seat. Yes. Sorry for the crumbs. It may be a little sticky. You might want to bathe afterwards. Yeah. Here's a here's a towel wet. All right, I'm your host Tim cornman and with me as always is Jason Walker. Yeah, I am. Hey always and still Jason Walker always and still that's going to be on your Tombstone off on your grave know your pizza. Oh, oh my pizza. What do you want on your Tombstone how we need to bring that back? Hay khong Without warning nineteen eighty. This is your pick. This is my pic. I watched this movies so long ago when I was a kid and had such a fond memories of it and it's because of these aliens sucker discs the alien frisbee sucker discs this sort of look like for calling Jimmy Dean breakfast biscuits or something. Let's say you get closer and you can see the string that's holding them up. Well, you always see the string cheese. There's never not a string. I mean literally one part of it was like you could almost say someone's hand giving it a good spin before they like send it on eBay Rodger Corman stuff looked better than this. They they didn't put a whole lot into it. They really did know grade on got his friends to come in and log. This film right? And they I read that it was filmed within three weeks that comes through loud and but Cameron Mitchell and not very storage they were in for half a day. Yeah, they're shot they're scenes and then got a yeah. Well, there's a lot of interesting stuff just in the credits before we even seen with Cameron Mitchell music by Dan Wyman. Did you know she noticed that know? Who's that guy Dan Wyman is he's part of he was in the music department for Halloween the fog lawnmower man. Yeah. Yes. I did see that. Yeah. I mean like if he's a contemporary of like John Carpenter if he's working on John Carpenter movies, then he composed the music for he'll night. Yeah and Midnight Express. Synthesizer programmer. Yeah, he has a weird Credit in this to Midnight Express was known for its synth music wasn't just beautiful, Have you ever seen the version of Legend? You know release God's Legend with the new soundtrack? No, I haven't. Oh the old one it was Tangerine Dream. Hm which is the only way that I can watch that movie and I don't know who did the music to the kind of redo, but I guess they just try to make a little more epic sounding off and it did not work for me at all. No, I still wanted that Tangerine. I love Tangerine Dream. But anyway, I just thought that yeah electronic realization by Dan. I'm so he's like speaking to the keyboard like finger just got them plugged into his head electric real has eight. You know what that means dead. No, no, that is a zero credit course at State College. Yes. It's like basket weaving or something. It composed the music for lawnmower man. So that alone should getting a token for the subway Blacklist. Well, there are four Riders on this film never a good never a good song know and which if you look the first writing credit was for Lynn Freeman, no, nothing else just this Daniel garodnick. I want to talk about him for a second. He was a writer on this, okay. He's actually produced a bunch of shit now shit as in the quality of it or just it's up in the air right his writing credits include without warning. This is first Terror train love territory Goldie and the Bears I clicked on that. I didn't know what it was. But the it's a TV movie that had Hulk Hogan. Oh God, it wasn't even one of his like movie movie is just a lord. He'd produced National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Okay. He produced powder. Okay, Let's see here. Any good powder? No, not really. I didn't it was supposed to be and then I didn't care for it out by now. We're in a half his second job. Producing credit which is right around the same time as without warning for up the academy. Okay. I vaguely remember that vaguely remember it too long. So one of those four p boys, you know are up the creek. Yes what people always god. Dammit. I already have far how far we yeah, It doesn't matter it was going to be brought up we might as well as start off the episode with welcome to the the moratorium whoopee boys. I am I'm your host when people ways off Yeah, Tim Cortland of herbs going to get Robert Rodriguez on the line, but up the academy was Mad Magazine movie. Okay, I got to get my eyes on it cuz I know I've seen it but I'm sure you have it has Ralph Macchio in it. Okay. He's looking really young if you age. The pictures and granted he was Nineteen when this film came out always young looking right? Yes. So nineteen is like a twelve-year-old and roung. Yeah. She's got a baby face so that movie I know you're going to say it but it was directed by Robert Downey Senior. Yes, which is which is Robert Downey Junior's dad right off. But if you look at his information, I've got to read this off cuz it threw me off Robert Downey Senior born June 24th. Nineteen thirty-six birth name Robert John Elias, Jr. Okay. So Robert Downey Senior was actually a junior. Oh man. That's just too much Steven. So I started singing. I'm My Own Grandpa. Yeah. It doesn't that break some kind of can't be you're wrong. It's just so funny. So I guess Rob wage. Downey Junior was born Robert John Elias, the 3rd still not understand the the sequels. I think everything in there like sixties and seventies was just real loosey-goosey and you can just you know, add names to your name and add and I'm sure I don't know what I was just looking up that you know, cuz Robert Downey jr. His first movie role is one of his dad's movies and trying to find his first like lines of dialogue ever spoken in a movie. Have we ever talked about this before? No, I don't think so something really like he was five years old. This is his first line. He's talking to it's like a street kids thing. I didn't watch much of that movie, but his first line is got me hair birth. Your balls five is five years old and we wonder why he smoked crack and crawled into that girl route. So his name is puppy in whatever this movie is. It's cold pound. All right, so maybe that's where Pound Puppies came from and clicking that tab off with extreme prejudice. Well looking at that one. All right. Well, I'll do the same thing has Don qhelfin it cool it also are we still talking about of the academy know? What are we on setting up the academy? Actually Robert Downey Junior was down and he was uncredited. He was a boy on the soccer team. So I was looking for that earlier. I was I was wondering why he wasn't in it. Well all I wanted to bring up about that is that Antonio fargas is in it? So yes boss and Stacey nelkin. Yeah and Barbara bomber bug exactly. So it's very it's might be something I want to go back and see just because I was thinking the same thing dead. It just looks like this in the same vein of films that we grew up with. Yeah, right and being a Mad Magazine move. Yes. It ought to be a little fun Milken is the girl from Holland three right correct wage. Gotcha who has sex with Tom Atkins mean he is like like Grandpa's anytime. We need to mention her. We have to be dredged up hurt her career of hair sampling with wrapped up in a hotel cover blanket wage is just keep them see this kind of connects back. I forgot because we talked about going eight. There's a a stuntman that I'm going to talk about in a little bit who I believe was a young man and going ape and when I saw that I was like there were stunts and going eight. Oh sure. Had once done guy got his arm ripped off by a chimpanzee or whatever. I just have written from the first page of my own notes. Great on Clark's sucks. And the exclamation point I've watched so many of his movies simply because they were you know, like Mystery Science Theater movies and they've done a lot of his movies they did. All the Italian Mitchell or else called a final final Justice. Larry Storch is in this movie too. He's the reason we got to this movie. There's a scene coming. It's pretty early in the movie when he's the Cub Scout, you know leader and there were whole minutes wage. I just found something else to do while he was providing quote comic relief unquote. That was so painful to watch. My wife is just awful if we were excited, you know, because it's a Eighties sci-fi movie. We we love that type of thing, you know, when he got through with his stick. It was just like well, let me just change the TV on fire and move it just leave all of our stuff here and just go wander the night. He said something about when he found the Winnebago and he's banging off. I could use some help here. My blisters are killing me. You know, it's like know where are your blisters? I don't want it. No. No. No, and also I'm reporting you to the local authorities. You should not be the head of a Boy Scout Troop know those kids are for sure dead in this movie, right? No, I'm if not because of the alien know just because Bossier wage, yeah funny little thing here one of the other riders for without warning. I want to keep going to finish this up real quick his named Bennett tramer. Oh, yeah, and I was like Ben tramer and then we got a connection back to Halloween just made it kind of like oh interesting. Yeah, or is it there is a I mean, I think God He is named after that guy in Halloween. I think there's some I don't Halloween was seventy-eight. So well though, I mean God who is interested in the movie again? I'm sorry. I've been tramer Bennett tramer. He was he was one of the Riders Riders. Okay, right, which he helped develop like Saved by the Bell wrote a bunch of series or saying that so I guess there was a sequel that was Saved by the Bell the new class, right? Yeah. That's why I know his name I think is because of that not that I ever watched that show. Right? Right. It's my wife's generation. So when it comes on T, she's just like so the last writer for this film is named Steve matthes who I guess is a big-time camera and electrical department guy. Not a writer. He has one writing credit which is this month. The writing quote unquote riding is like so weird. I mean in this opening scene which goes on a way too long before you see and type of sci-fi step. So Cameron Mitchell were in two different kinds of camo and smoking a cigar has taken his son dead? Middle-aged son middle-aged son full. It's basically he's a gigolo and for some reason Cameron Mitchell wanted to take him out his thirties and teach him how to hunt or something. But yeah, he looks like I just a drug dealer from the seventies and that's Darby Hinton off and I recognized him right off the bat because he is in at least one of these anti Sedaris movies, you know. Okay dead. Big Malibu Express is one of them Picasso Trigger. Don't remember these unlike Cinemax. They're sort of like low impact action movies that are really just like I remember the box for Malibu Express. Yes, and that's that's he's the main character in that movie. Okay. It's just an excuse to page the writer-director Andy Sedaris to just assume do mountains of cocaine like Scarface levels of cocaine and just banging all these girls that that these managed to sneak convinced be in this movies. But anyway, I saw that stash and I was like, I remind know that mustache somewhere. Steve matthes who was the gaffer and electrical department for 98 credits. I'm just going to go ahead and save what is a gaffer do they just take things together? Basically? Okay. He's like a utility guy. It's the electrical department for the movie. Okay, but that just means it's just he just does a little bit of everything right like kind of okay. Yeah and taped shut down really and he has multiple roles of tape. Yeah, I assumed name is the best boy on Halloween. Oh, okay. Darby Hinton was oh no Steve Mathis Mathis. I'm sorry. She's now. I'm I'm just going to let you talk cuz I I can't. He was the best boy on rock and roll High School. Oh cool roller Boogie. He was the best boy gaffer and I clicked on roller Boogie because Mark Lester directed it. Okay class of nineteen ninety nine director with Linda Blair. We've listed this before it just finally the cocaine. The cocaine will show you there's a there's a trail of cocaine. Yes. He did the bog Halloween to escape from New York Halloween 3 and DC khong he was a lamp operator also met. Yeah. He's the guy that ran and got girls. Yes young teen wolf. Oh cool. He was a best boy and Galaxy 9 and I had to click on Galaxy enough for some reason. Who's it's got to be a Playboy model as Galaxy Note or something. It was it was Dorothy Stratten. All right, which we've talked about her because of * 80 and Eric Roberts x j r Yeah, so I thought that was very interesting. I mean, what does that get us though? I mean no no, well, okay. So there's a lot of links between this and Halloween and Dean cundey as the as the DP, right? Okay, and he did you know, John Carpenter may not this done all of the jumper news, but enough of them enough of the good ones I clicked on just because this this led me back to the AES and when I get in the eighties movies, I just get excited. Yeah, but jaws of Satan, okay, and I swear I've seen this and I think it was also titled king cobra. Okay, and I didn't really recognize it until I clicked on the photos and there's one photo log. Really? I really kind of remember and it was Christina Applegate. She's looking like nine years old and there's a rattlesnake coming after something like a cobra looks like a rattlesnake. Although I mean around that time. They probably could have called it a it is whatever you want. Exactly. I wanted to read this off jaws of Satan a preacher whose ancestors are cursed by Druids battle Satan who has taken the form of a huge snake cool. And your father Tom Pharaoh is played by Fritz Weaver. Okay Fritz Weaver was Dexter Stanley in June the Creepshow for the segment of the crate. Gotcha. Good one. I was like God dig it and that might be my like favorite short dead. Story of all time I think so. I went down that rabbit-hole and I really enjoyed that rabbit hole because I can stay on this for quite some time. Right? Right. Yeah, and now I kind of want to see jaws of Satan get your peepers on it. I'm looking at Candy's bio here and he did. I mean he just did a bunch of exploitation movies like early, but he did Galaxy know, you know Director of Photography roller Boogie rock and roll High School Satan's cheerleaders ilsa Harem Keeper of the oil sheets wage jobs creature from Black Lake. I don't know what that is. Hm and then after Halloween, he did like all of you know, he did the thing Escape From New York back a little China awesome. He did Romancing the Stone with Robert zemeckis. Heated all three Back to the Future movies. Well awesome. He's like, you know big time. Yeah, he did Garfield the movie which I didn't know there was one back there was there were two of them. Now even in the oh, what was that Zombieland didn't they make fun of owe a bill? He had a little cutscene at the end of part two of Zombieland. That was him just kicking ass from the he was trying to promote Garfield three months. He has to look at himself in the mirror, you know, he has one of those moments ready to splashes water on his face and he's just looking at that Goldsmith a mirror and saying that's fine. This is this is the this is the last time I do something like that. Okay, so the movie yes. Oh, yes. We're watching a game. Yeah, unfortunately, so the first bit of dialogue in this movie is Cameron Mitchell trying to wake up his Gigolo son who is asleep in a Winnebago and the gigolo says are just 5 more minutes. He's like it's still I've already had four pots of coffee and okay, but now the most important thing he says to this Gigolo is let's get up and you know start shooting animal Hub. He says now I want to be perfectly clear about this. He says the sun's just beginning to Peak song hubba hubba, boy, let's get on with it. Okay, looks like what they said in the you know fifties or something when they saw like a pretty girl. Yeah, and he's dead. To a gigolo who's asleep in a Winnebago happens to be his son. Then he finally gets up. He is clothed only in a gold necklace and gold wristband thing. Well, I guess his mustaches kind of clothing his face too. And he says something like let's get on with it. Hubba hubba. What does that mean? I don't know. I think they thought that it meant what like wage. I think that they thought that there was a script. Oh when they got to the set and when they realized that great on said, okay, this is what you're going to do. Yeah, and then he's like, yeah. Yeah, whatever. Yeah just say hubba hubba. I read in the trivia here for without warning that one of the girls. I think the main girl braids are we talking about braids braids? Yeah that she was cast like the day before if we're talking about braids. Yes, Tarren utter. Yeah. I think this is sort of like one and only credit isn't it or she gained a few things really but not enough to put a picture on IMDb though, I guess not but it says he or she was cast one day before shooting again. That is very clear with her performance is very odd in this movie. There's a scene later that kid with the scrunched-up face Christopher Nelson. Yeah, Christopher awesome Chris. They start laughing in the car when that thing is trying to get in. Well, yeah. Oh, those are awkward. Yeah, very that's exactly how I thought is like his birth. Shield wipers. Yeah, and like it worked they become like like the coke kicked in and it's like this is bad. It looks like when you take the egg out of a like microwave breakfast biscuit, right? Okay. Yeah. Okay. Here's what you did take the egg pops out of a breakfast biscuit put a bunch of Cameron Mitchell's hair on top of it and then just stick somewhat candy corn on the bottom. You're going to want to get rid of a highly visible fishing line and 20 pound test spin it. Yeah, that'll do whatever Walmart sells for cheapest off and then just spin that and follow that with the canvas it and then push like Twizzlers out of it. And actually I think that was the best part for sure. Yep. I mean but granted they kept showing it over and over again over and over. Yes. It was the same shot just over and over right and it really does look like it looks like roadkill, but that's what I was going to say. This is a very similar the way those things act. It's very similar to a Rodger Corman movie called it conquered the world. It's the one with the big pickle monster. But before you see the pickle monster, there's these like they kind of they're like flying tortillas and they had attached themselves to the back of somebody's neck and they kind of like a puppet master situation. So all right well to further explain this film and IMDb trivia that movie was made for $150,000 of which 75,000 went to log. Jack Palance and Martin Landau salaries, so they had $75,000 to work with over three weeks back and I know we'll talk about it later when Martin Landau was actually introduced. I've read before that. He doesn't he like won't turn down a movie or something. Like he will take all offers. There's something like that that I've some trivia about him and he he's wonderful in this. He really he is can't say that. He's not giving it a hundred percent man. He is so out. There. He is him with long hair is pretty disturbing. It makes him look even crazier here in another trim. The alien head was created by special effects make-up artist Rick Baker according to the producer and writer Daniel garodnick it costs down. $19,000 to have Rick Baker make the alien head. Wow, and this is what what had he done up to that point. This is 79 right or is it came out in Eighty? So 79 was yeah. Yeah, so he hasn't done a lot of stuff up to that point. I I don't think right. I I have not looked enough in a baker's career. I will all right get on it and you just you just kind of talk. So how are things going just don't talk back. So hey Hubba Bubba. Okay. I'm sorry. I got the gum gum. It would have been better off like product placement or something. I would have understood it more than them. Just saying hubbub. You just held up a pack of gum next to his face and smiled at the wing with a little ding dong. Threats in the office teeth or something. I am so hungover that I might need to actually go to the hospital but got that pack of hubba bubba gum, that's going to get me through it. But let's continue on with the film for a minute. Yes. I wanted to say that that our guy are are Gigolo after he gets dressed which he's dressed and bell bottoms and a shirt that all the buttons. Yes, because it's never but so it goes down to the stream and complains about the water. He drinks some of the water this case a little funny. Well, it's it looks like it's almost stagnant water. I don't think you're supposed to drink directly from the stream right off the chicken plant. That's up on the hill is like their shit is just flowing into this thing that might give it kind of a weird Pang McNuggets. Hmm. So he finally he buttons his shirt and they're going hunting all the bugs. I don't know. Yeah what they're hunting for. They don't State anything his dad actually takes one shot over the over my shoulder. Yeah. I had a gun next to his ear to shoot a bird and it comes up again to he is a choice sure if he wants to have a bonding moment with his son or guilt. Yeah. He he looks at his son and points the gun at him thinking I came in this right now and probably say that it was an accident. There's nobody around. I'm not going to wait for an alien to come and do this for me, right? Yeah. That was bizarre to me. And this is Cameron Mitchell mean he is a well-known actor. He's been in a gajillion movies. I mean granted. I know him solely from home. In a statement but still so I was looking up Rick Baker. Okay, he has to uncredited makeup. Well credits. He's not dead credited cuz their credit again, but anyway bone and Black Caesar which are both kind of blaxploitation movies schlock. John Landis. His first film he is credited as makeup artist and The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman. That's a TV movie. I did not realize that makeup Creator dead. So it's first real like poorer type credit is for it's a lot and I see that and that would be I think Larry Cohen did one of those blaxploitation movies, maybe I think he directed bone possibly. Yes. He did Larry Cohen did Black Caesar to okay. So it's alive is the third Larry Cohen joint that he's on Very interesting. Yeah, it is interesting. Well, so all I was going to say is that he Baker had already kind of made made a name for himself. He was still pretty young but he had done incredible melting man the fury it lives again track of the moon be checking the moon bees which is awful Altered States. Did we mention that he did the make-up program States know in that movie freaked me out when I was a kid. I think it's still freaks me out. Yeah. I don't know what to make of it. Even now. He did the make-up effects for our Incredible Shrinking Woman rat-boy To You Ever Seen rapidly. My science project. I see that videodrone ghost story Sondra Locke directed rat-boy. She directed a couple of months. I think that's one of those things where it should maybe was still with Clint Eastwood and he kind of like got her in let's say to 6 though calling rat-boy a comedy club IMDb is really as shouldn't do that. It's not a comedy. So very interesting here. He did the makeup for Harry and the Hendersons, which this is the TV show series Harry and the Henderson shortly right ever lived that 72 episodes really thought. Oh, that's weird. I I've never seen that. I've never seen that he was the makeup artist for Harry and the Hendersons movie as well. Okay, which dead Has Kevin Peter Hall playing Harry as Harry and Hendersons? He also plays the alien in this film. Oh, okay, Kevin Peter Hall. This is one of his first Chrome. It's I think he had one more credit before this, but he also came back around to do predator Predator 2. One of us needs to do a deep-dive on him and one of these minisodes. Well, there's not a whole lot cuz he died such a young age. But yeah, but he was like basically like every monster for a short period of time in the seventies and eighties so very good stuff. Yeah, and that'd be that'd be a dream. I think like well, I mean, it's just said and getting all that makeup and stuff. But like I like it that he's like a monster is the monster game. He went by Kevin Hall and this film but it took his other credits are Kevin Peter Hall well, and he's Brothers with Anthony Michael a separated-at-birth. Let's see. He was 7 foot 2 and 1/2 inches tall. It's pretty tall. Yeah. Anyway, we can talk about him later. We see him later briefly. Yeah, that's boy. They really hold out on show showing you him at least off and souls in getting into the last like 30 minutes of the movie. There's a small shot that shows him in some deep Thicket. Yeah. It's just a minute but you you barely see him but the the perspective makes him look like he's four foot tall. He's like a mini me, you know because you can't tell by the grasses realm. Yeah, which is probably doesn't have the effect that they were going for. You don't scarier than somebody's really tall somebody that's really short wage without warning is Kevin Halls second film his first and I looked this up last night. I had to tell Todd about it because he didn't even know this. He played the mutant bear in Prophecy what exactly that was his first that is crazy. Like I can't imagine someone being in that thing. You know, that's a man. We need to well so many movies, but we need to do that one. That wouldn't be a Fiat great one. Yeah, maybe we should try to do this film. That's right. There is the current. Yeah. I met five min. I'm kind of watching the movie and five minutes. I'm at 5:44 a.m. And this is this is right where he points the gun in his son. Yes, and it's like I can just take him out. He's not paying attention. He's playing with rocks by the stream. He is like a little kid. I I kind of feel for I kind of feel for Cameron Mitchell in this it's like one shot would just dead. Immediately after he tries to shoot his son. You see our flying disks. Yeah, and really that first shot of that flying disc with that hair on it. Yes. I think I wrote down is this what Waffle House employees? They throw around the pancakes and the ones that had fallen on the floor. Yep, and then if one gets on you, that's it. It just drives those Choice learning the new name and that's really it. It sticks to a side of a space and then tentacles just kind of start sucking I enjoyed that. Oh, yes definitely but I do like the look of it. I mean, they're basically just like mixing like honey Dijon mustard and like cocktail sauce or something. I do like any thing like that their reaction shots on these things are coming at them. I mean, they're screaming and it's like, oh, they're just just slap them down. You can see it coming out you just drop it off. The ground they're not spending most of the time. It's just stationary and why aren't you grabbing at it? You know, but I don't think he grabs that no. Nobody thinks hey, this thing's on me to Hertz later, Jack Palance gets ones to the leg and he just goes down like he has been hit with a baseball bad actually and he leaves it on his leg. He tries to get up and run away. He just it's just strange unless it's like pumping like something that's making them drowsy or something. Cuz if it's not that then they're just it's like they've never seen a sci-fi movie before get that thing off of you. Okay. Now I know you're going to say the same thing at least I hope you are so we're ending the the very first scene the cold open in the movie Cameron Mitchell is I mean, it doesn't even really dead. So you like you don't know what happens to Cameron Mitchell, I guess or the guy or the guy Cameron Mitchell goes down with the thing on his face. And the guy I guess is reacting to he's supposed to be there's a lot of like reaction shots where they don't even show you you've seen a sci-fi movie before you know, that those things are controlled by another thing, you know, and he's kind of looking off screen at something. It might be just weird that it's in broad daylight. Maybe there's things usually don't happen doesn't eat kind of scream at the end of that kind of hate. He raises the shotgun which you've already had the shot where he emptied the shot, right and just like the filled it with rocks or like gone Dad's or something. He's not dead. He's not a bright person. You only knowing for seven minutes, but he comes he comes towards his son who just basically stands up and yeah. Yep. Have you got he just was contemplating shooting him with a 12-gauge. So that was like so turnabout is fair play. Is that what you're saying? Hey, you know, I don't I guess you're going down. Yeah, exactly. That's all I can handle of that scene. Maybe we'll talk about it later. So finally girls in bikinis girls in bikinis, you know, who else is wearing a bikini or might as well be fucking David Caruso in the shortest shorts. It's like he bought little kid like Juniors shorts washed them in hot water and then dried him and then they shrunk undersized and then pulled them up to his belly and then tucked his shirt off when I saw that I was like, oh my God, this movie should be called those shorts those shorts. I thought he was going off. A bigger role in this film. That's not what app and I'm glad he didn't. Oh, yeah. No, no. No, I thought he was going to have a bigger package film two, but home cooking out of the bottom, which if he did if he had any more of a package you would say would be hanging out at least I expected to later on cuz there's a shot where he's they're getting ready to go swimming and he's sitting on a rock and his shorts are so high his ass is the only thing touching that rock no shorts whatsoever material in between his skin and the you know, everybody in this is weirdly a tired California could explain that but like I'm wearing like a cardigan and baby shorts the other guy. Oh my God, that guy's name is Greg. Right. Did you see that? He has a fucking belt buckle. Is Greg know I did most hilarious pause that when they're looking at the dead Bobcat. You see it bigger in life. I'm not even there yet. I I I'm still them getting into the van right this which is a cool, you know, this a cool seventies van. I wouldn't go that far. It looks like it's been you would get an STD if you like put your hand on the dash a carpet in the back, which I'm confused on on the seating arrangement because when they start going down the dirt road there just bouncing around in the back like in the office actually have Whiplash now and it's fun my spinal cord and also the girl role again. She's wearing a sweater a bikini top and like some slacks like business slacks off. So they're just driving does even set it up that why it doesn't look like a fun. It's two guys and two girls David Caruso is definitely worth if the other girl while the why she hasn't made him change shorts. I don't know his shorts are way shorter than her. She's yeah. She's wearing Daisy Duke. Yeah, exactly. Exactly and he is not he's just David Caruso. He's twenty-four in this. Yes, this is first movie. I think it is actually maybe grades is kind of weird looking cuz not weird looking but I can't tell if she's nineteen or 30,000 cuz she makes some faces like knickers seen older Crusoe had two credits before this one and Ryan's Hope and one in a movie called getting wasted latest has no pants and that is a little red. It looks like oh my God, I should have clicked on it cadets at a military academy get involved with the sixties drug culture and it has Stephen Furst Tracey Walter. So looks like Should not have clicked on it. All right. So if Walt how it keep on wanting to say Walter Matthau instead of Martin Landau. He knows cuz they wrong kind of package already. Got Cameron Mitchell. You've got crazy crazy Walter my God, I'm going to do it. Again Martin Landell who is a Korean veteran. I think they said he's he's mixed up. He doesn't know his exactly where he is half the time charge. Yes certain window won an Oscar not for the not for this should be clear here. Not for the his face off. It's like there wasn't enough Martin Landau, so they got jack points to stagger in a while. Jack plants looks like he's wearing a hairpiece. That's that's for sure a wig not very well applied either in his acting in this wage. I don't know. Maybe this is his acting in every movie. No, but the heavy breathing between word. That's his he is struggling four boxes. Well, it's also drunk which I think has a lot to do with it. Well, I'm just here for my thirty six fifty. Yeah, right exactly my half of the 75 month with land l or Matthau, whatever. I just think it's funny that what I mean. He's kind of the crazy Ralph right? I think Landau would be more of a crazy. Right? Right, right. This could have been the same character. That's exactly what I was thinking. They they basically have two or three of the same characters. Jack plants is like a Van Helsing kind of he knows that these things are out there right now with a hard time following the plot. Well, yes because Jack Palance shows that he has a scar on his left on which presumably is one of the yeah, cuz I think he said he attacked by it before but he doesn't seem to at least adhere to the same nonsense gibberish that land out there not connecting. This is the same alien that they're both talking about. That's what I needed to know and I'm glad that neither one of us know the answer to that. Yeah that confused the hell out of me dead. Basically, so our kids are going to the lake a lake which really kind of looked like out of Creepshow 2 when they finally get the right right? I was only hoping no one else is a ground. They are the only and IMDb trivia says that this was filmed in December. So the water was freezing, right? So this was a good experience for everybody involved another reason for those shorts to be hyped up as far as they were but that makes sense. Now that he had a cardigan on it's like man shorts. They stopped off at this roadside gas station Last Chance gas station to try to steal gasoline. That was from Jack classes. I guess. This was his birthplace. Okay, cuz I missed that completely too. Okay. Yeah, cuz he has all sorts of different very aged stuff Taxidermy Boar's Head Taxidermy heads and shit on the wall and off a giant spiderweb. I don't know why all four of those kids just crammed themselves into that tiny little I mean if you look through the way you'd be like, oh, well, no one's walked in here for years, maybe possibly a decade and then they all crammed themselves in there. And then Jack plants walks out. What was he doing in it? Oh, no, here's the bathroom at first wasn't he that was Landau when he saw the stuff graffiti down the that's it. But that he repeats six or seven times film. He lost himself in this role. He went all-in. He helped himself to the craft Services cocaine table cocaine Scotch poppers and donuts Lutz, Georgia. Larry Storch is definitely on something his performance in this the guy from F Troop. His performance is amazing now a scout master, but I would not let my kid with in the same city limits as Larry storage. He doesn't look good. I don't know when Larry she passed away. There's no way he's still alive, but he is kind of bleary-eyed and I think he's got a rash he is still alive. Wow. Wow, he was born in twenty-three. So he has 97 Holy crap, he does not know he's still alive last thing. He started was a TV series 2010 these kids that he's leading down. This this very shallow Creek the same shallow Creek in the beginning and it looks like it doesn't look good for hunting which is what they were doing. Nope. It also doesn't look good for hiking. Nope. It's like a runoff like a it's just not a fun place to like bring a bunch of kids. She doesn't look very friendly for camera and Equipment, you know, it does not because Cameron Mitchell earlier was trying to like there's a guy with a camera right next to him and it's basically trying to keep from like swatting him with branches and stuff. But Larry Storch is truly awful. He tells his kids to to find some rocks to take home. Yeah, so they end up I think they're Thursday. Rocks at each other devolves into rock-throwing immediately when he walks off immediately, but you don't hear the kids or any day like blocked out that yes. Okay. So they're gone. So, how are you watching this? What what I am watching this on Dailymotion, okay, which is not an HD quality, which is fine with me because I think this movie would only suck later when it's grainy. I agree. I'm watching it in like full high-def and well, it's like a runoff Creek in high definition mode. It's still just looks like a like there's syringes six-pack rings. I guess. I just kind of missed it you do see another creature but it's like the cameraman can't quite work up the energy to walk up a few feet and get a better shot at it. Did you see like kind of a little bulbous creature? Hey, that's crazy. Okay thought I was going nuts. So Larry storage walks up to the to the Winnebago the he sees their tries to get their attention decides to have a cigarette and what she doesn't have a lighter. So he's going to use a rock not necessarily a flint rock know but just a wrong and just kind of like can you do that? Can you light a cigarette with a flint maybe if it was a flint but not the way he was doing it. Obviously. These kids are doomed we need to get MythBusters on this and see if you can actually walk create fire just by clicking two rocks together. And neither one of them sling Larry Storch just hit by two of the flying disks to the back home and I enjoy the sound of the Slurpee and the it's not an alien sound Larry Storch eating pudding and they're just like, okay, let's lay down on Earth putting thing again. Yeah, and then the kids literally the kids are like throwing rocks at each other's faces. They've completely devolved in the madness. And one kid goes off like he's going to go take a lead. Yeah, I was I just watched that and he's looking for rocks, right? I don't know. I don't I didn't get what he was. He was supposed to be doing now. He just sees the shadow. He looks up and screams because I guess he sees the 850 my God that scream which that kid did not deliver. It's just all their vocals are like in in ADR, but he screams like it sounds like a howler monkey. It sounds like one of those fake like vilhelm screens. You know, I really thought it was a group of Girl Scouts. Yeah, that one kid is just a girl dressed up and like has her hair tucked into her hat. But all that seemed like just to be a set up because after the kids run away, there's a slow panning shot which you see the van going off in the distance. So just trying to set up that this is the same area Okay per se but I want to know why why did they have to go by the creek in the beginning? I thought why have two different settings just have it by the same length. These kids could be. Yeah, it's just weird. Yeah why they chose just a few like where you're for sure going to see Coke cans and stuff just like flowing down. They pick the ugliest part of a really don't know and also don't care. Good point. Yeah, you still don't get to see this thing yet. Now, you won't see the alien till juelia. They spent so much money on this alien life and it looks pretty good. Yeah exactly. Why not bigoted why? Yeah exploited. Yeah. You're right. You're absolutely right. So what's next kids run off? I assume they died from exposure and also like Broken Egg dysentery. Yeah, exactly. The jiggle is definitely going to get dysentery from just like my first instinct when I'm camping is not just to go straight to be a small stream and just I'm at 22 minutes into the film. Okay. It's amazing that 22 minutes have gone by nothing is really how that's why I'm texting you. This is so born. They get the van to the lake and they're immediately going to go swimming David. Caruso is sitting on this rock look at him. I mean, he's obviously pulled those shorts up like it was a thong. Yeah and is like, you're welcome, you know. Yeah that guy's I'm also with the lighting department wage. Exactly have to put some gaffer tape on my nutsack. So it doesn't fall out the bottom of short. Could we get some more gaffer tape for David? His balls are hanging out with this guy this this dork that they take with them. It doesn't seem like he is there online to bang him and braids cuz that's what's happening dangerous on his girlfriend and they are immediately making out in the lake and they're like, uh, huh. You want to go for a walk? Yeah. Yeah. It's all very very all the acting is real awkward the remainder of the movie between those two there is no connection. No, no. No it is you don't know whether that's his sister met a girl that he is caring for because she's obviously has problems. There's a scene later and I'll talk about it that when she twists her ankle and they're trying to make it to that house and he's he's like trying to help her walk by faith walking sideways with her with his hand on like on her stomach and a hand on her back or something and and helping instead of it was like the most awkward way to walk off. It looks like they're doing like one of those three-legged races, but they don't have to you know, nobody's making them do that. They just decided it was something fun to try. Yeah that scene down there running made at my wife and I laugh that's good. I thought I read somewhere that the alien had psychokinetic powers. I don't I don't see that anywhere in this film that I don't know where I read that but other than like, I mean, I guess he is controlling those little things so he does have power over those things. Where is he hiding those things by the way, I don't know. Don't know. So did you notice David Caruso in his girlfriend? They get out of the lake and they start making out they're going to straight up have sex just out in the open on a Star Wars blanket on a little kids Star Wars fleece blanket. Let's put stuff from a much better and more popular movie in our society than you can't stop looking at. Oh, yeah. I had a blanket like that when I was a kid and rolled over onto a floor heater row and immediately caught on fire. They were trying to kill a second. Larry Storch could have used that to change light his cigarette. Yeah, he could have it just spontaneously combust the mainecare the guy that becomes the main character the main protagonist dragged off. Egg his shorts aren't any better. It's just that his shirt covers them up right after they get out of the lake, but yellow is even more disturbing facts disgusting is what I call it. So they go for a walk just so David Crusoe and his girlfriend can make out and bang they're gone for like three minutes off and he actually says he's like, well you want to head back. They should be done by now. I've timed their sex in the past and I know that they'll be done with that last time. I watched them have sex it was over in ten minutes including the cigarette. Yes, another weird clothing can't tell if it's hot cold is wearing like a uglier like Marty McFly puffy vest. Yeah. It's just so unappealing. I find a lot of choices in this movie just a little Range so they go back to the van to try to find it David Caruso in his girlfriend are making out in the van and they're not there either. Did it just cut away from them making out cut away to them the other two Greg and Sandy on their little hike right through like it's just mud and he just looks like hey, there's the dead fish that we saw earlier. It just be just walking around in a circle. Oh and she just falls into like a bear trap. Why is that they're Martin Landau has been digging these holes to trap the alien. Okay, okay when they walk off their trying to find their friends and they have no no luck. They walk off. She falls into this pit, which is probably 10 feet twelve feet. Yeah. It should had spikes underneath only going like predator on this thing. She would be dead. Cuz it has to be eight foot deep know I would say more than that. It's it's a deep hole. She should have shattered her ankles and she instead she just slightly disappointing. I read in the trivia. She did her own stunts. Wow for that fall. So so they see the water Shack right off. Yeah. She falls into the hole. He helps her back up. They see that Watershed. Okay. Now if Martin Landau has been digging these holes boss and he's that close to the Watershed. Yes. How did he not find the alien Oh, no, just asking I see what you're saying because the alien had been in and out of this ship. Oh, yeah, that's where he's hiding these bodies. So they go check out this water Shack. My wife made me she made me promise to school. Miss I apologize to everybody out there. No, but the water Shack is a little old place where we can die together thought was going yeah, it does have a tin roof and it does look rusted in the trivia. They built this Shack. This is where the rest of the money for the whole production went wrong. They built this Shack. Okay, we have $45,000 left and you guys just screw some plywood together, but I find this pretty interesting. So this is supposed to be where he's hiding the bodies. So as the alien feeding these bodies I unclear you see somebody was at Gigolo boy. Yeah his eye is gone and he's got some mustard or some some condiment. Yeah. It's it's honey mustard. Yep. Being from his eye socket and there's another shot. Was it Larry stork? He's got a hole in his top of his head. Yes. It is Cameron. Mitchell has a hole in them like but yeah, I mean that looks more like the little things or maybe doing that type of damage and I wondered oh, there's your three-legged race. Let go of her boss can run by herself computer and so much faster if you would let go but if we haven't learned anything from these movies, especially like you create he's dead. No woman can have forward momentum unless there is a man either grabbing or pushing her with their hand on their back. They can't be trusted to walk by themselves. That's it. There's what five or six bodies in the shack. Yeah, barely room for the camera to be in everybody else. So David Caruso does his nice little falling forward, you know, honey mustard dripping out of his mouth. His girlfriend is hanging in the corner and she and she's topless almost see a nipple. It would have been an easy cheap shot. Yeah to give us a little bit of boobs. And and no have you never seen a Rodger Corman movie This Is Dead. This is how you keep them watching cuz honestly that's all you've got going right now is that maybe those girls are going to get naked cuz you're definitely not thinking like, oh, this is a good movie that's scene where he figures out how to start a car and work the windshield wipers. This goes on forever him. Looking for keys. I don't know what he's trifling through. He's like touching his knees like no, there's no keys here. There's no keys in my knees. Yeah, that's true. So didn't put those into my pocket while I was looking and he's obviously the owner and Driver maybe I should check my Martin McFly jacket. No, nothing in my vest. I will say when they ran away from the shack. It was full-on Daylight. Yes, and they must have been running for hours to get back to this van off at complete dusk the geography and the time of day is completely you have no idea. What's what so you get one of the Des things off this attached to the windshield. Yeah. I guess it can smell people in there because otherwise it's just it keeps squirming and working its teeth. That actually looks pretty dead. Cool. We we just talked about that here. It's in trivia that the extreme close-up shots of the flying creatures digging in the various people were filmed a three-person crew and great on Clark's garage. That's depressing. I just I'm speechless. I have a couple of things. I want to bring up real quick here. Okay off the studio company that owned the rights to the movie film way pictures later sold it to a Ryan which went bankrupt the movie was not available in America on VHS LaserDisc or DVD or Blu-ray until Shout Factory released it in 2014. This is for Real moratorium home. Oh, yes exactly what we're going for. As we're getting ready to get to the bar the sequence and the bar was filmed in a single evening with local drunks Neville brand also looks like he belongs in that bar off like he moved there when the movie was over. Okay, David Cruz says girlfriend is Lynn feel. Okay t h e e l. Okay. Okay. She's been in a handful of films including humanoids from the deep. Oh, okay. Same year. If you're going to bring up Corman. Mmm. It's a good foot. Bravo team. Did the yes social effects for that. I was looking at this as well. Rob bottin actually. He was he played one of the humanoids wage. Yes. I mean if you've ever seen the movie It's fish people having sex with human women really like sets like missionary style wage. Linfield was also in a movie called fire fyre. Okay, and this was an innocent country girl is violently raped with her family is killed in a car accident before she can come to terms of what happened as her feelings of Shame grow into self-degradation. She turns to prostitution prostitution prostitution and I brought this up because it also had Donna Wilkes in it and Donna Wilkes we've talked about her before because she was Angel and the angel movies. Okay, right. Yes, and she played one of the kids in Jaws 2. Okay. Yeah, I remember. Yeah and not brought up that she was also in a movie called grotesque. With Linda Blair, right and Tab Hunter I can see that cover but I don't know. I don't know right off the top of my head. So just interesting little stuff here grotesque all she has Robert z'dar in it. Okay, that's why we brought it up before but she was also in schizoid, okay and and schizoid we've talked about because it has Klaus Kinski. I do want to see this film. I got it on. My list schizoid is an advice columnist begins receiving threatening notes from an anonymous stalker. Meanwhile members of a group therapy session are being murdered by an unknown assailant. Kind of sounds boring, but he Klaus Kinski. Donna Wilkes Craig Wasson, Christopher Lloyd interesting Little cast Thursday before Christopher Lloyd Craig Watson, right? Right, right. Okay, but Donna Wilkes is also in a movie called blood song 1982 a blood song reads a psychopath escaped from a mental institution and starts a murder spree which ends in the pursuing of a young handicapped girl who once got a blood transfusion from him. I'm like, okay interesting the line sets there but down on the list here. So there's a whole lot of nobody is Frankie Avalon's in it, but there is a guy by the name of Roy Don Clark. Okay, and I I mean grade on Clark Android on birth. You would think they these guys would have to be brothers. Sure. I cannot find any information that supports this month. I know for sure that his kids are in some of his movies right unplugged. Oh, I can't remember the name of that one is but some just awful sci-fi thing. Yeah. The main characters are like his two sons, but Roy Don Clark a prolific stuntman. Okay, who did stunts and Escape From New York? He's got a huge list of stuff here. I mean back in the fifties and sixties but Foxy Brown The Towering Inferno. He did stunts and Mitchell off the Martha Mitchell store and going Abe looks like that's where I going mate exactly that keeps jumping why were their stunts and going eight? He did stunts and Sword and the Sorcerer. Oh cool, Matt Houston Daryl tomboy. Gotcha boy or Jaws the Revenge. Oh, gotcha. Gotcha is the one with Anthony Edwards? Yeah. Yes and Linda fiorentino. Yeah. This is the kind of trail that I was going down before. We we started this morning. This is the gold right here that we've been mining around for Roy. Clark also dead. Stunts for The Burbs and Anna Jones Last Crusade Ghostbusters 2. Does he have a picture on his? Yeah. He bought a plane. Okay. I'm going to look him up to I wonder if him and Joe Don Baker hung out a lot. Maybe both have three name off now Troy Don's one name. Oh, is it really just like grade on as one meal or you kidding me? That's why I thought that there has to be something there has to be they have to be cousins or something. Right? Right, right. Maybe kissing cousins. I'm not sure. Now wait a minute that's got to be his brother. You would think cuz he looks just like man. What if we what if we done here, I tried to make a connection. He could not find like when we're done. We're going to solve a murder the way that I'm thinking about. This is crazy because grade on Clark is in a lot of his movies just like little cameos, you know, but yeah, I mean does it does it give a picture for grade on Clark? I mean, there's plenty of pictures of grey dog art. Okay, I can go to his website and such just maybe they maybe they're estranged or something maybe but I had to share this with you because I just thought it was uncanny. Yeah, that's real mystery that we're going to get to the bottom of but at least we know who did the stunts for going eight. Forget it. He had to wrestle a monkey at some point which may or may not have been long and Danny DeVito himself not a tape into it. Okay. I'm an eight-month. All right, so that's about all I have. What all you've done is just we we have more questions now than when you're done. Exactly. All right back to the film now. I'm at 3122. The girl is running through the woods for some reason what happened previous to that. Well they get so they finally get the the van started after the keys are found above the visor like which he should have looked there anyway, but movie Dumb and even like books and stuff dead. It is never occurred to me to put the keys in the have you ever done that know in any vehicle. You've ever had. Nope. Well, it happens all the time in fiction all the time God. He's still fumbled around for a long before even thinking about it. And I think when I was watching this he didn't even turn the key or have the key inserted before the engine started revving wage. It's like a toddler. Okay, so he's in the bar. Yes. He goes into the bar. He tells her to stay in the van you're safer in here and not where there's a lot of people write this date is not going well for these two, which the outside of the bar is deserted. There are no lights no lights. No. No they get in side and it is packed. Yeah, David Crosby's there with a big cowboy hat on. There are more people in this bar 15 than the rest of the cast off. Yes, exactly and ninety percent of them have no speaking parts. So why are they even in the cast that guy that is sitting behind Neville brand kind of looks like a like a skinny intimate Walsh just the look on his face. That's like his resting Beach face kind of is hilarious to me or there. It is Ralph May. Yeah, Ralph Meeker is the one that has the line. Okay. This was his last film. It kind of looks like Rick Baker is the guy with the big like the version of a like Mogadishu in the Magnum kind of but then again everybody has like slightly long like Eight is Enough hair and it's hard to tell one from another. The girl is a Sue Ann Langdon the bartender. Yeah. Yeah. I looked her up. Well, she been in she's been in UHF. Yeah. Oh, that's right. That's right. She was in Zapped and Zapped again. She played the same character you got to do got to do that series of movies. But anyway, he comes in kind of hot and fast. Yeah, but he's having an emotional breakdown. He's not getting his story over to anybody. Everybody's just looking at him. Like can you sell it for us? Really? I mean It's kind of strange. It is very stringent. I did want to read here from Neville Brands trivia. It actually said that he is he was a a totaler not a drinker. I think maybe he had drinking problems. Oh, that's what happens his face. Yes. Oh my gosh, he's got so many crevices his profile picture though. It does not look like him at all. It doesn't look like it at all. Also. I don't know how it's possible but he was ugly but then videos now and that's saying something later. It seems like he he's wearing lipstick. I think everybody that just made my stomach flip over. It's in bad grade on Clark's trivia. The beer on the set of Clark's movies was his own ear and close. It's always a poem. Juice and seltzer with foam to make it look like beer that is funny watching him drink it and yeah, it doesn't fit. He looks like he's doing it while he says Neville brand was concerned about doing bar scenes in Clarks. Hi Riders having struggled with alcoholism himself wage was reassured by Clark that there was never any alcohol on his sense. Cocaine yeah polenta. You might want to look at Jack glances. I'm not going to say trip regular. I want to look in the back of his income Continental is just empty beer cans and he always travels with at least 6 flasks. Yeah, if you told me that he was paid off in booths for this movie. I I would believe so the girl is sitting in the van and she hear something or see something and that's when she gets out and runs away. Yeah from people right? She runs into the woods, which is the total opposite direction. She should be running know that's sort of the danger is we've already proven that and she runs Straight Into the Danger when she runs into the arms of Jack plants who of course is just out in the woods him bringing her into the birth. Are carrying her in there and she's totally passed out. He's like I think this is yours. I got your girlfriend. She might be pregnant now Faith Like a possum. She ran into the woods. He happened to be in the woods, but it looks like he was taking a shortcut to get to the bar. Anyway, yes, he was definitely headed to the definitely headed to the bar. There's only two things to do in this town go shoot rats down by the old creep and go to this bar. I swear Martin Landau and loss of pinned his mud flaps on his eyes open or something. He's got the widest eyes throughout this entire film and thanks to great on the camera is parked about six inches away from his face at all times his face fills up the screen in a lot of the scenes that he's in a whole lot of nothing going on in this bar as we're off. Things were waiting for the lights to go out. I kind of missed what all happens here. But are we assuming that the alien like cut out? He doesn't say they don't follow up on both of them. Okay? Oh my God, hang on just a second. I just want to say this one thing Neville brand was like a thug or something in an episode of Baretta. Okay, and his name is shopping bag. So loved it. I loved that is my new Halloween character. I'm going in a shopping bag off maybe because of his face. But Martin Lando is the only one acting in this movie. He is the only thing that's kind of pushing along the rickety plot. They established that he has a gun. Oh, right. Yeah, and they called the sheriff but the lights are out. That's one of the electricity went out cuz they didn't want you to be able to see the sheriff walking in as his hat kind of appears to look. Like I said, I was very confused by that because it is clearly the sheriff the door opens up and he just immediately just shoot some hilarious like Harrison Ford. This is why everybody treats you like that. So you're fucking crazy long hair trigger. I don't know what's up with your hair and they don't even list who is playing the the sheriff stickers? Probably gray. Maybe so all right me I'm going to need you to walk in here all the older men in this straight up look like the spitting image puppets from birth. Freaking a Genesis video. Yes, that's where they got the idea for that. I promised myself. I wasn't going to sing Landell shot the sheriff you're going to anyone know. I'm just going to leave it right there was Jerry Falwell was just awful. I did want to say that. If you look up Taryn utter it says her last credit was called Greg and Sandy's alien Adventures the sequel to this movie without warning. It's a 21-minute short. I could not find anything about it whatsoever. It just says an interview with the 2 stars on the making of great on Clark's without warning stars in quotation marks. You saw that didn't you? Yeah, I can hear it in your voice. But it's Tom is Christopher S Nelson and Taryn utter. I looked around I couldn't find it anywhere. It says this featurette is included on shout Factory's 2014 Blu Ray home. So to take their word for it. The scene where Jack plants takes the gun away from Sarge. It means it's a Neville brand who holds it on him. And then he kind of like stands up straight and cut off straightened his jacket like oh that must have sounded crazy what I was just saying. And Jack plants goes straight out and scrape say one of those alien disks is on the railing. Yeah, it's just sucking on like a four by four 10. It's just strange but he grabs Greg and says why don't you show me where these aliens are using my feather. You say Jesus, you know where this? Shaq is it's a little old place where we can get together believe it off. That's good. That's awesome. Very good. Believe it still like really suck in that bread. So but they're driving along in the pitch-dark and the truck bouncing around into the woods not giggling. Now. Are you and Greg only points out the shack that he has seen one time that one time it was full of dead bodies. I've only been here once but I can point it out in the pitch-black darkness that seems like a poor plane. I guess. I forgot to mention they stopped by Jack Palance has gas station off as he goes in and gets like he has a ready jar of formaldehyde. Oh that he puts the Critter. Yeah. Okay weird, and he kind of looks at life as it starts moving. It's still alive and he has us Wicked little smile on his face got like weird and has dead. My penis in a decade. All right, I think you've gone too far. I'm sorry, but we were all thinking it. Yeah, he's definitely fucking those. Yeah, he does just have a just a jar formaldehyde right there or at least pickle juice. I don't know why he was going did he go in there to get a gun or something as well? Yeah, I think so. Well, I think I think he wanted to what's he going to do with that saving it for his tourist attractions. Yeah, this kind of feels like tourist trap a little bit odd. They tear off through the field. It looks like they're going through a field. I don't think there's a road space and time in this movie are hard to get your head around when they're in the truck. He shows his arm and then nasty big scar right of where he may have been hurt by the alien disks. I don't know. I'm Guess he's just Wily enough to kind of he got it off of him in time or something. Well, he obviously knows how to deal with him. He cut some yeah, and he pills them off with a knife right off like a like a leech when he gets hit with one of and here in just a few minutes and the leg and he goes down like he was hit with a shotgun blasts Jeff. Okay, and then he tries to get up and run away with a still on his leg and it takes him a minute to finally say okay, I guess I gotta cut this one off. Yeah, like the other one. I guess they don't just fall off after a while. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Rick Baker did not create that little prosthetic on his arm. It looks like crap. Oh, you didn't like that know it looked awful. So so far this alien, we're going to assume it's an alien. He's actually done this town of favor. He's gotten rid of the pedophile scoutmaster pedophile scoutmaster. He's gotten rid of the possible child killer Cameron Mitchell. He's taking those blue shorts out of the office. Thank you for your service, but naked blondes we get to see everybody again and the shack when Jack Palance goes in there. But all I'm saying is so far off. The alien is my favorite character and I haven't even seen any more that's a while. They're like walking around in the woods with Jack plants and talk about this how long how long has this been going on? Cuz that thing on Jack Palance is arm is all healed up. Now. It had been going on for years. We don't see any other remnants of Alien, you know or anything any other movie they would at least spend some money to add a crappy, you know spaceship coming in through the atmosphere. Like it's the easiest thing they could have done is just give you some grasp on what's Happening when Jack playoffs does open when he opens up that Shack notice wage. It's it's well-lit on his face and I'm pretty sure that's from the reflection of of David crusoe's ass. We need something quite in here little just kind of took your tires Scott or whatever whatever now I see that the girls not topless. She's actually got a towel around her well for sure or earlier it was if the camera was going down as far as it could not without showing nipples. Oh my God, you do see his little chicken legs, Jack glanced planning goes into the shed and looks like he's about to sneeze and he can't quite get it. You know, you kind of look at a light or something. Try to make yourself sneeze. My wife said is he having an orgasm? Yeah or like needs an inhaler or something. But he and in that shot. It does end on the girl and then he's got this weird. Like what is that? Look what is happening? He has Faith having an asthma attack you you are correct. He's having an asthma attack and an orgasm time and has to sneeze all closely related. I love horror movies and like people with flashlights shine them directly into the faces of the people there talking to my God. He's blinding them. Yeah, he holds it on the girl for a good ten years. Against I know and it cuts away and she's just blinking for like can't see a goddamn thing. He goes back to talk to them. Like the bodies are they're just like you said Exposition. I think he's having a stroke. It's just weird. But Sarge and him are the only ones that give you any type of information and they don't even do that very, well. He did go down quick. It's like, okay kind of stings a little bit but no, he's full-on paralysis. He's I go Ron take my flashlight and go on without don't go take the truck. Just run. Yeah run in the town. These are preferably stupid. It's happening. If it wasn't for City Slickers, like would he even super popular back? Oh, yeah. I mean I think from just being the bad guy and everything. Let's see. I didn't even look him up because it was just you know, yeah, we knew everything 127 credits on Jack plants. I would have thought more than I would have thought that too. He was in a convoy. Oh the TV series. Sorry. There was a TV series. Yeah. Yeah, we've talked about that before they just made series out of everything. So anyway, this goes on for quite a while. He cuts it first. Yes. Oh my God, there's big old blood bubble. If you listen to it, it actually goes The blood actually pops like Bubba. I laughed so hard it is kind of gross. I mean, it's not a good effect, but looks like they just took just everything but the bun from a Carl's jr. Group together. Let's see that alien. I know he's just around the corner. He's gotta be nearby how far away is. What do you throws these things though wage? It show him pulling them out of a pouch for anything. He's just frisbee tossing him. Yeah. Is he using an underhand or overhand throw? Yeah, but it would have been nice to see if you know hit a package of these things. Are they are they part of him? I want to know more right? That's what yeah, like a marsupial type situation. Yeah. You also can kill those things by just hitting them a couple of times a rifle book. He stomped on it after he pulled it off his leg. I guess it wasn't quite dead the audience knows when they see the car show up and it's dead. Police car it's a sheriff's car. We all know that it's Martin Landau driving the car sure, but they've wait to show it they keep on Thursday Greg and Sandy talkin right and just don't show who's drive and they they just draw it out as long as possible. Yeah, and the shop from them in front is I don't think it's Martin Landau. It's somebody else and they've just got kind of a wig on and like their hat pulled over their face. That's a weird choice to make though. Okay. This is where time and space was real strange for me. Okay, Martin Landau picks them up, right? And the meantime Jack Palance gets back to his truck drives back to his gas station home for where he has a ready box of TNT. He goes into the back and pulls out this box and runs back to the truck is already filled with everything he needs Now we've got plants going back to the shack. Right right. This whole town is like one mile in in Diana. Yes and Landau is he just driving around wasting time to get back to the check? They're all just trying to get back to the shack. Correct? I guess that's where everybody's going to meet up for the finale Farmland. I was just talking to himself. Yeah, he's not dead. It is what his eyebrows are bristling. Wait a minute. I missed something. Now the kids are out of the car and learn and looking like he's going to mow him down. Yes, did they escaped? So it's why didn't he stopped the car? He's got a gun on him now, which you thought he was just kind of a local crazy guy, but harmless although let's not forget that Martin Lando in this movie. She shoots a I mean, it could not have been more clear if you showed that to a five year old dead. They would have said that it was a like police officer and then stole his car. Yeah. No, he stops the car and gets them out and hold them a gun Point. Yeah, like he's going to fucking execute him in the woods or something Martin Landau goes total nuts. So thinking that they are the alien this in Disguise. He's got a lot of problems. Yes, Greg plays it off cuz he's like, okay, maybe this is our chance. Let me say yes. Okay. Okay. We are the champions and Martin and Del's. I knew it that one line. It confused me so much because then he starts explaining things, you know, like making up all of this stuff and land not buying and he gets down on the ground and starts drawing it out in the dirt. Yes, you and I both I'm sure knew that he was just going to grab a handful of dirt and throw it in his face off. Course classic Mode he doesn't do that he bum rushes him. Yeah and just knocks him down and this guy I hate to keep on saying about like he is more loathsome to me than I think the kid in the Beast Within I mean, I really am having a hard reaction to see I was getting ready to bring up the Beast Within it's very this movie is pretty Beast Within ish. They run away from Land L, and they make their way to a house and that happened to me. I was like dude, that's the Kerwin house right? There is a cicada locked up in a vegetative. Yeah exactly. But no lack of chases them down with the car and they're on a bridge so they have no place to go. This is probably the only time that this is ever worked he is firing off. I mean if you thought that for a second that like he was just you know, he's trying to kill. Oh, yes. They're the aliens. Yeah, but they jump off a bridge which is way taller than it looked but they dropped off the bridge. Yeah, and I told my wife when that happened, I'm like, all right straight into that shallow stream. This is gonna ask you just hear right? Yeah, their legs are like have punched through their lungs and this point but Landau starts shooting at them while they're in the water. There is a straight-up re Ricochet shot in the water. So Greg and Sandy they run away and they find her one house right not like they tried the windows or anything. They don't even go. I guess it's the basement that's ground-level. They actually go upstairs and bring Into this house and which they're like, he's like, oh this must be somebody's summer Cottage what there's no windows. I mean, he said something like that, but there is a cat inside when the cat appears, you know, you normally in horror movies you have this cat that's just thrown in and you hear the right the the normal screeching of the cat, right? This sounds like a gaggle of cats coming towards him like a cat with its tail tied to another cat and her fighting off. It's so strange and also that cat is only alive because it's been eating its Master's and so it's real grass this summer Cottage. I would not go in that building for anything. So she's got a sprained ankle. They have a laugh about the cat. They're they're having a real rollercoaster of emotions. Sometimes they're laughing like like euphoric li like they're on drugs that would actually explain a lot of this movie. Just give you two scenes of these two just just sparking a month before they doing whippets. The girl was definitely on something they immediately go in and start stealing these people's clothes one obviously lives there and she is Charmed that he is breaking she's laughing. I think he's really making a good impression and this scene they're acting like nothing bad has happened that they haven't seen the sheriff gunned down. He's like when when we leave we should just Tire legs together. So it's easier to run if she puts on a full shirt and looks at the plant and she picks up like the seal music box. It's sitting on top of a book that says World of Pooh. No way it's dead. Who is in Winnie the Pooh but it says World of Pooh. Oh, okay. I didn't see that before. I'm going to be looking they're wearing the weirdest Claus. I mean this has been a 1980 so, you know, we can expect the bell bottoms, but she has some Exposition when she's talking about this music box and I think she's finally realized that her friends were dead. And so she's starting to have a little break down. She's been having a breakdown but there's been too much going on for her to like she's been distracted cross. Yeah World of Pooh. I see it. You think they did that on purpose? He's like great on Clark's like I know my movies are shit on a telegraph thow So but he puts her in bed tells her to relax. He said he's going to make a pot of coffee and stay awake. Right seems like a good plan. And any other horror movie in the 1980s wage. They would be having sex. Right? They do have a very weird relationship. He kisses her lightly on the forehead and he tells her to undo her braids. It's just strange weird. Okay, and they are in someone else's house whom they do not know right? Let's just get comfortable. He's raiding the fridge but the milk wage doesn't have a cap on it and he sniffs it and okay. I guess it is bad. He's pouring it out. Well, it didn't have a cap on it. What do you expect? I feel like this is not a lot of movies though where they do just went to another house, you know, like they fucking live there and it's obvious that there has been been p.m. There recently can Jack Palance needs to move into this place get out of that little one-room. Yes, you know behind the cash register this thing goes on for quite a while. She has off for second nightmare. They see the doors open he walks out of the room and you see kind of a shadow with like a bulbous head do it's hard because he's got a bulbous head. I didn't see that off. Yeah. It's there's a little Shadow work going on. Come on movie get on with it. Yeah. Let's see something the alien could have killed them so easily and with any of these scenes any of them now, he's just toying with him. That's what I'm thinking. He's doing it now. It's the thrill of the hunt for that guy. He's like a predator and that's what they mention that off in the trivia thing too that he's collecting person. Yeah. He's like, he's collecting trophies and not necessarily for food interesting. I like that, but David Caruso is a trophy club. This little shorts frame is little shorts on their spaceship. So upsetting but they have a whole little conversation about this water still running in the coffee pot. I'm sure I turn this water off. It's the longest scene ever. You're like, oh my God, she gives him a fake scare. Yes. All they need to do is shut that door and get on with it. I still don't understand the title without warning. Yeah. I don't either there was an alternate title. That was it came without warning. It's I mean that doesn't really doesn't give you anything know but like I said, I think if they had just added one just anything I kind of like it that it could it was just happened all in one day, you know, but then Jack plants and then screw all that up by saying that I mean does the alien Just Like Home? Out in the woods. Well, they mentioned at the beginning that I wouldn't go to that Lake, you know, strange things people missing and meanwhile jack points is just saying that because he poops in the river don't drink the water like Hubba Hubba Bubba. He have a name, Yeah. Sure Grandy course so they go back into the bedroom after they've been looking around the house off the closet the doors kind of a jar. It's wall-to-wall flannel to he grabs the lamb we talked about this using lamps as as a weapon off, right? So he's sitting down in a chair staring at a wall drinking a cup of coffee the weirdest like he's never had a cup of coffee before in his life. Just kind of holding it up and down. Sippin on it, but he's supposed to be protecting her by you know, and keeping a lookout. Why is he staring at the wall? He has I think been like keeping it together for her but he is seriously like fucking scarred by the things he's seen I think you're right. She has another nightmare in like three seconds every basically every time she closes her eyes. She was like night terrors ma'am day up make yourself a cup of coffee break your hair or so. She go so she comes out. She's calling for Greg. He's in that chair. There's a total doctor mixture point where she is spins him around but instead of having a syringe in his office. I was Temple, he's got us a sucker rated thing. We have a good name for those. What are they sucker space sucker? I like him sort of like a Facehugger wage. Okay, but it's kind of hugging your face like a awkward can't at a family reunion. You get one little flash of the the creature that we all knew was lurking. They just didn't quite have enough money to but why not? I mean, it's a costume. Are they paying Kevin? What's his face so much that they can only having I could have had anybody in that costume. Right? Exactly. They could had two kids on each others shoulders and A trenchcoat. This movie would be so much better if they showed him more a reaches forward. That's why I was thinking that maybe he was trying to do a telekinetic thing as he reached forward and kind of screams at her and she yeah runs away and hits the long lamp that swinging light the alien stops that light from swinging. Like it's a noid before we cut outside. It's like I can't take this. I can't I cannot take the noise. I mean at that is cool when off his arm comes through the window of like I said the geographies weird, I don't know where she's at. She she ran outside but then she went and the basement which is the ground level of this house. Okay, which is almost a smart thing to do because you know earlier when she ran away from the vehicle. She didn't run into the bar. She ran into the woods, right? I think she was kind of thinking right here is like oh shit. I tried this before what happened. I ran into a Jack Palance. She's learning and adapting I'm safer inside this house a doubles back and hides and sees the alien walking outside the window, which is kind of cool kind of creepy. I like it when he reaches in cuz his arm is so long. Yes, it looks very dead. Alien and creepy and now I'm wondering if that is a wig on Jack is that thing stay input? Yeah, it's bouncing and behaving she escapes escaping from this basement thing through a smallest door I've ever seen. Yeah it she's just trying to make it to the window and that's where Jack Palance just breaks the window out and start shooting at the alien fires a gun right by her head. Now, he's Jack glances got her in the woods. He is practically giddy with excitement that they use planned all this out and it's finally going to trap this thing. They stopped several times running through the woods so he can tell her what's going on right and us but yeah, cuz it's hard but they should keep running. There's time for this later. Yeah. Yep. Wonder though if he was giddy because he was thinking about using her as bait. That's exactly what I thought. He was going to say to her was that you know, you finally get help me drawing, you know in so Jack plants and Martin Linda are they basically playing the same character kind of you don't need both of them. They're serving the same purpose. They're giving you some Exposition and they're like the kind of Van Helsing of the movie but just Dahmer and like wage obviously drunk when Jack Palance was shooting the alien in that close quarter. He was staring through that scope. Right. Yes, which is like looking at something like seventy yards away, but it was like six feet right? I don't know and then if you really look at the rifle, it looks very weird some things going. I think it's just they made it out of Styrofoam. So he set up dynamite. Yeah outside of the shack, you know, the aliens going to go in the shack to quote unquote feed. Why did you leave the T and T out? I mean you assume that the alien is not an idiot, you know, most likely at least in this town of higher intelligence. Yes in this town. I did air quotes like six times. I didn't know where they they belonged. I just trying to cover myself. You could probably do that for a lot of a lot of the things that we've assumed and so now Landau and plants are dead. Having a Crag off. Yeah, they're both arguing each other about who's going to kill the alien and they start scuffling plants rushing him while yelling at him and he had to take like five or six steps to get to him. Yeah Landau shot that sheriff with no hesitation. Yes directly in the heart killing him instantly peleus takes 20 yards to get to him and he can't shoot him. So they scuffle a little bit off and we finally get to see the alien full-on. Yeah. Looks like he's wearing a net from like Red Lobster or something over and yeah, it looks comfy. It's a shawl his is the only outfit in the movie that makes any sense, but you've got Kevin Peter Hall. Yeah a big big tall guy. Yeah playing an alien that the alien when we see him dead. Many of the shots is just standing still doesn't even move his arms in the makeup looks pretty cool. I mean that's basically a while you're watching the movie, you know. Yeah, just the reveal of this thing at the end. He shoots him and it's like me peeing after I drink a lot of water so funny. It just pours out the side of the Jack glanced just shot him with a rifle many times, right but I guess. Landau shoots him in the bladder that's on his shoulder his shoulder. But also his head is huge huge take three seconds and you've got a giant scope on that. There is no way that you could miss the girl could shoot him in the head seems like having a huge. I mean, I guess it's you're meant to think it has a giant brain, you know, maybe but that just seems like a design flaw to give everybody something to aim at it resembles a Star Trek series. Yeah a little yeah well and it looks like a gray, you know, like a regular what we think of and it's cool makeup, you know oracle Mass. I felt like that before where you just can't scratch the right like in between your shoulder blades and grab a Bowie knife to do it. So Landau going down. He has two suckers on him Polanski from the direction of the girl of braids to shoot the alien Palm Beach yet and he's like, well, it didn't do anything before right track this one again when he shoots him in in the shoulder bladder it takes a game. 3 seconds for that fluid to start pouring. Yeah, and then and then it's done. It's like well that was all that was in Lee puts his hand over it. Like I healed myself right off the Predator. Yeah. So Poland's gets one to his shoulder. This is the point that I remember as a kid watching it that he cut one of them one of the sorry the alien saucers. What are we calling him? Again? You're like hot hot hot holders look like kind of their alien doilies. Yeah wage, but he peels it off of himself and throws it back at the aliens it at the alien. I love it then. Yeah. It's like when a gun runs out of bullets and you just throw together a month, but I see what you're saying. He gets another alien doily to the back and he can't cut it off. He doesn't ask her to cut it off of him. Right just a little to the right there. That's it instead. He he dead. One's kind of liked or go towards the alien. Yeah willy-nilly is what I that's what you wrote down. That was that's what I described my only notebook the entire film willy-nilly but you would think he would have tackled the alien or pushed him towards the know he runs towards the shack st. Come here get me a lien, right? I think he wants to be probed. I think that's what this is all about. She tries the plunger, but I guess Jack tripped over the wire unplugged it is not good at this. Yeah, how she knew to do that how she knew to wrap that thing around. I have no idea to reconnect the wire. She must have watched a lot of cartoons man. Yeah, all Bugs Bunny off if there's anything we've learned and watching these movies as it's not going to work the first time. Yes, they didn't build up much tension. It worked finally about 4 seconds later Jack Palance. He just kind of falls down and grabs the alien by the leg, you know, kind of like, you know, your niece or whatever that doesn't want you to leave after you've at Christmas time holding onto your legs and just so she could reconnect the wire and blow it up and true Commando fashion cuz you can almost see the two-by-fours holding up the fake alien. Yeah as it's standing there. Yeah wage, but, you know granted it was just standing there before so it hasn't really changed after the shack explodes a store is the alien you see a shot of the alien head off. Indoor mask burning and true Halloween to fashion. Oh, I did like when it kind of hissed, you know, it was a page or or oh, we'll see I'm not I'm not even listening to that. It was like a very like yes public domain noise that they can use. Yes. It's actually in the Trivia Crack. Okay. It really was great on Clark. You should be ashamed of yourself. This is the fifth and final cinematic collaboration between great on Clark and cinematographer. Daim. Candy thought he was like grade on you owe me $2,000, but I'm not even going to bother with that. I I never want to see you again. Goodbye. We say was badly shot today. They would have just bounced it all around to make a show more action. Maybe I don't know. Yeah, exactly. Yeah a lot of Quick Cuts to In the trivia here just before it gets blown up. The only sound the alien makes is identical to that of an elephant Roar identical to them. So was he was there someone just going You know or don't say identical say it was a l like did they try to recreate it? Somehow God there's a lot of you could find that little wave file anywhere anywhere anywhere watch Operation Dumbo Drop in this report, you know dead so they in the film just on a shot of what could be a Galaxy or Starz or whatever. Yeah and have some stupid like, you know, are we the only way you know, if you think this is a fictitious account be warned. We are not alone. Wake up sheeple home. I don't think I speak for you. I mean like do you do have ponds for this movie? That is the crappiest movie that we've done so far. Oh you think I'm positive. And Jack pulled Lance at this time is just really not a wanted the money. He wanted his thirty-six. I guess. You're right. I guess he's a working. You know, God well grade on once again. You have yep, you have fouled up another gray Dawn but good. I do enjoy this month and had you seen this before. No, this is the first time I've ever seen. I've seen the cover of it a million times. But like you said it's been unavailable which the game is on the cover. Is it not? Yeah. Well, there's a like a Photoshop kind of his shape is like the outline for the there's a Friday the Thirteenth cover that's very similar for his shape is the frame for the you see the van which is not right on the cover has red. It's an awesome cover. But you get to see the alien head. I mean they they yeah, they're a little too koi with it. I think they could have done a little bit more with the alien. I think they could have changed the tagline it preys on human fear. It feeds on human flesh. Okay, if there's one thing that I have learned from this experience is that there is no way there's a guy named grade on Clark and a guy named Roy Don Clark and they are not somehow I am going to page the bottom of the relay. They have to be next episode will get will we will either get to the bottom of it or we will neglect to mention it whatsoever completely forget wage for a lot. We can only help but great on had to have just connections. He got his friends to come in here. So Neville brand, what did he bring to this? Don't know how long He was in the bar holding a glass of beer. There could have been one character that could have done all the things that they had free different actors wage would have been a normal movie. Like this is Neville brand is like, you know, there's no fucking aliens, you know, like the the negative guy off and then they form like a posse or something get out in the woods and Neville Brands like oh shit. This thing's fucking for real and then he gets killed they could have killed off everybody in the bar. Everybody in that bar should have died. Yes, when the power went out one of them or whoever, you know, Martin Landau Jack plants and the girl escaped but naturally because the alien comes in and fucking, you know sucks. Everybody's brains out or something that would have been much I dig that or just throw some tables around, you know, yeah dead. Mix it up. I am with you. I think that would have made a better movie. It really would have. Like the jail scene and the Beast Within the Beast Within I mean that's fucking intense. You know, that's just one room with some guys in it off and it's also weird that Rick Baker is on this like I mean, I guess maybe he was still in training, you know, but it seems like special effects in the wage awful too. But then it's possible. They just didn't have a lot of money they didn't they spent it all on plants and and land L and just another reason to get rid of these guys and do use more of that money for special effects. They could have I agree. Okay, so there is something called gistics. Yes. We talked about this. Yes. Oh, yeah, we did watch a little bit of you want to watch you want to start over the podcast right now and watch joysticks. I don't know. I don't know about why were we watching? Dang? I can't I mean it was something for this. I remember most because it's a it's Mitchell. It's Joe Don Baker. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I thought that was great on Clark directed at Joe. Don Baker Boy Dalton Clark is probably there somewhere. And Jon gries in this that's how we got. Remember. We got to Joe Don Baker to get the Jon gries to get to terrorvision for our second film man. It's just is exhausting it is And Logan Ramsey is in joysticks. Actually just so off. You know, I have seen a lot of great on Clark's movies. On purpose but he has like a Charlie's Angels rip-off called Angel's Revenge. His wife is one of the kitchen or angels and I say I pronounced the tip because that's the only reason you're watching is they have skin tight like jumpsuits on Angel's Revenge or Angels Brigade. I know it is Angel's Revenge, but I think it's the same thing. Yeah, if you click on Angels Brigade, it says Angels revenge on the box art great on Clark's wife is in that as basically a head the main Angel and that's a that's all I know is Angel's Revenge also has Jack plants. Yeah, right and also has a little brand but Jim Backus and Alan Hale jr. And a 200 turning in some loathsome performances arrow down here at the bottom. You have Darby Hinton who played Randy in without one. I know who he is. 6 is like a drug dealer. So you've come full circle. I don't know. I need to go lay down for a little walk it out of me good stuff aab Jim Backus. If you have any shred of like if you liked him and Gilligan's Island or as you know home Mr. Magoo right play Mr. Magoo. Yeah. If you have fond memories of him, don't watch don't watch. Okay, it's real and that's the last movie he did. Wow. So let's not very long. I was looking at black shampoo, which was great on Clark's like third film. I'm interested in watching these earlier ones is to see if there's any way to but it reads a black hair stylist has sex with female customers and tries to keep the mafia from taking over his business. He's bad. He's mean he's a loving machine black shampoo. Okay, it's an action comedy crime that does not sound like so but he did Satan's cheerleaders. I get lost with all the Satan's movies. I'm sure I've seen that but Well, everybody was doing Satan's movies back then. Yeah now crap I clicked on the high Riders which that was another one that also had Darby at Neville brand Ralph Meeker who was in as well. I guess all these guys just like went to key parties, I guess so there's a song called The Forbidden dance, but you know to me that was in that little ibada LaMotta. Yeah, so if the same movie, right? No, it is another Shameless rip-off, isn't it? I don't know. Let me type it in. I was Nineteen Ninety Six. I wish I hadn't set us down this road know there is nineteen ninety. There was a lamb bada movie. But who did Joseph did that? That's the move. That's the real one. This one is just called and and the the cast is crazy Sid Haven Richard Windsor and it's so you know, it's going to be sexy and romantic and stuff God it literally is like Grade on Fark just finds people that are kind of like down-on-their-luck and it's like, okay. Well, hey, you still want to be an actress? Yeah, it's just a rip-off of long. If you told me at the beginning of this day that I would be saying Lambada like three or four five times a month on this one though the Forbidden dance menahem Golan. Yeah road. Yeah. It's a story right? So he probably said hey, hey, I got an idea. That's all this other movie being made them make it just one. I saw them filming a better movie around the corner here. I think it's just cocaine. That's the only thing that I wouldn't think is Thursday at this time is just everyone was on all the drugs all the time and 1992 great on Clark. Did Danse Macabre. With Robert Englund. Okay, never seen this is like short stories or I don't think so a dance instructor brings his Dance troupe to Russia for training what his dancers don't know however is that he has a dual personality and it hadn't personality is a serial killer weird way too long as that. Yeah. Great on Clark quit doing films. His last film was Nineteen ninety-eight. Thank God. So did they finally just black them out of Hollywood. I mean, he's now 77 years old. We can only hope he has nothing left in the tank. I really was searching for something like a positive to say about great on part, but you got nothing and just How about the return nineteen saw that earlier? What is that all about two young children and an adult in a small town have an encounter with an alien spaceship twenty five years later the children one of whom is now a local sheriff are reunited as adults in the London. I'm didn't read one of the children's the sheriff. I think that's really irresponsible. Which stars Jan-Michael Vincent Cybill Shepherd Martin Landau Neville brand Vincent's cavelli. Yeah. Wait a minute, didn't we watch this? I not for that. I have seen this movie recently. Oh my God why? I don't know. I think I walk down a little freaking whole when we were of Despair. This is this is so weird. Yeah, I I have watched this movie recently and I could not tell you why it got three point six out of ten stars on IMDb. It wasn't good God. I don't think so. I remember saying the Box were skinheads though. Oh, yeah saw that too. I don't really remember that one. I remember seeing it on on the dash, but I've never seen it as well Chuck Connors Barbara Bain. It's like great on Clark sought out it just the ugliest faces that you like like a Mount Rushmore of ugly faces to be in his movies. Well, all right. What were you did it? I think we've said all there is to say about flying Harry Pancakes. Yes, why did they have little Tufts of hair on top of that topping to distract you from saying the string that they were held on I guess wage. It's like hey, what are we got around here?
