Back in the day, when I did play in these types of conditions, the field froze so hard that no matter what type of shoes you are, it really didn't factor in because you were basically sliding on a rock hard surface. So the fact that soldier field has heating elements underneath it is really going to provide some protection for the players. Good point, upgrade on the field surface compared to that old cement hood. Artificial stuff he played on back in the day. But when did that tradition start of going sleeveless second down with Tom thayer is it stubborn pride, some twisted tradition or just a habit for so many guys to go without sleeves and cold weather games? Is there a story behind that? And what will be the keys for keeping them warm? You know, I mean, I just think it's a toughness indicator because first of all, if you provide a bunch of baggy sleeves on your arms as an offensive lineman, it gives a lot of material for the defensive lineman to grab and tug and get you off balance and put you in a negative position. So that's why a lot of guys didn't like to go to sleeve route just because just because you have one layer of sleeve on your arm is not going to make any warm or anyway. So it's just a state of mind and it's kind of a camaraderie type of deal given the position offensive defensive line especially. I know I'm not that tough. Third down. Pick apart this bills team. What's so tough about their offense? I imagine the injury status of jail on Johnson the bears top corner could change the storyline a little. Well, it's similar to the bears. You know, what is their biggest threat on offense and it's Justin Fields, just like Josh Allen is the leading passer and the leading Russia for their football team and he's such a big body. And he's got superior arm strength where no matter what the wind conditions are going to be tomorrow, there is going to be a selection of passes. He'll be able to throw. As the year has gone on, I'm not really, I haven't really been thinking like, oh, what would he exactly do right now? But I know he would definitely be a big supporter. And definitely be at every game and things like that. But yeah, I mean, it's part of life. And you know, I think that's one of the things I learned from it. At a very quick, very young age very quickly, is that, you know, this is life. And it's a part of life, it's the worst part there is of life, but life always goes on. And it will always go on and you got to get up the next day. And do what you got to do. And I think that's something that kind of in a way helped me, I guess, as a young kid, but something that you never really want to go through. But it would definitely be interesting to see it. Was he a bears fan? Yeah, he grew up around in the Chicago area. So that brings us to mom, because your mom's name is Melinda. And the task of anybody who's in this position or age three, kids under ten at the time. She must be a Hall of Famer. Oh, yeah, for sure. Without a doubt. And you know, I think as a young kid, you take it for granted exactly what she had to go through. I'm like, I was four. I didn't know what she was going through or how difficult of days she must have had, but as you kind of grow older, and the older I get, the more responsibilities like that, I have to do. It's like, wow. It kind of makes you think of exactly what she was going through at that time. And so it's amazing to think about. What do you think she's taught you? I mean, I think number one is she always put her three boys a priority over everything else, no matter what she had going on. And she had a lot going on. She commuted to the city. You know, we had stuff going on within the family, whatever it may be. She was busy, she had things to do. And we had things to do. We're all in sports. We were all doing those things. We had to get to school. And she always put us three as a priority. And that's something that I think now, especially growing up that I look at and I take away is just how she was able to handle everything, but never to lose focus on what was most important. And for her, it was her three boys. Is she pinching herself too right now like you are? A little bit. I think more than me. Yeah. How do you know? I don't know. I mean, she's just always. She just loves it. Are you excited about your future? All right, I'm excited about, you know, but I don't think I ever looked too far into the future. I wanted to interview this week. And the way you play the game is just perfect for this rivalry. Watched Brian or locker line sprigs and all of them play. Growing up and, you know, definitely fortunate to be here and trying to do my trying to do my thing. And did you want to be one of those guys? Like, did you want to be? A Chicago bear linebacker? I mean, I think every kid around the area kind of has that has that dream for at least a split second at some point in their life. And then, you know, but not many people actually think that it's possible and I think I'm one of them too. And just fortunate. You know, when you think about it and talk about it and hear it out loud, that smile grows bigger, because you see more of a serious guy in that locker room, it's a job you're taking care of business, but when you just hear yourself talk that way, does it just kind of get you a little bit? A little bit. I mean, I think it's just kind of at the moment still just crazy. I mean, you're 22 years old and this is your job. Definitely enjoying it though. How's it going so far in your opinion? I mean, good, I mean, for myself, I think, all right. And then, I mean, just as a team though, you know, that's the most important thing. On the field and everything included is to get those wins. So that part definitely rough, but I mean, just got to keep working. Keep moving forward and, you know, now it's on to this week against the packers. You like the jackhammer? Yeah, it's all right. It's a no brainer, right? Here comes jaggedy. I mean, it just flowed. Yeah, I got a lot of nicknames going around. What else you got? Sandman. Jason Bourne is a good one. And still believes that Chicago is one of the great cities in the world, although I don't think it certainly was when I was growing up. I'm not so sure you could say that today, given the control, the inflation is, I mean, the taxes are so high in Chicago now, the schools are horrific. Corrupt leadership and a lot of the business leaders who I've talked to who have moved out of Chicago, Charlie, they're telling me they could even, they could put up with all of that, but what they can't put up with is that the danger that they face and their employees face having a business located in Chicago with the shootings with the muggings with the crime that is so rampant. And so you're right, this is about the 5th. I mean, look, Sears is out of Chicago now. Citadel is out of Chicago now. Boeing moved out of Chicago. Tyson's food. And by the way, Tyson's food moved out. I mean, my goodness, how bad can it be in Chicago? When you're moving out of Chicago moving to Arkansas, I'm just sort of saying that tongue in cheek, but it is so sad to see, even the Chicago Bears are moving out of Chicago. You see that? And, you know, we all know Kanye Kanye is the greatest artist of a generation, self proclaimed self proclaimed, He's I. The thing is that I love. I love how confident he is a part of my reason why I love God. He so much as I kind of buy into the craziness of it because I'm like dude graduations like one of the best albums ever like that album is a killer. Downtown Chicago Apartment Building Evacuated, Bomb Squad Called to Hazmat Situation
"Developing overnight that Chicago police bomb squad removed explosives from an apartment after a man was found dead. Glenn Marshall is live in Streeterville with the details. Gun. Good morning. All police say this all started with the well being check from a family for a loved one that lives on the seventh floor apartment here in this building behind me. Police say they entered in and found the men dead. But then, later on in the evening, they had to evacuate multiple floors in this building to two explosives being found early Wednesday morning. Police say they came to the building at 2 40 East Illinois Street, also known as the Fairbanks at City Front Plaza. That's where they say they found 30 year old milk. Theodore Hildy. I should say he was found dead inside his seventh floor apartment. Police source said CPD was responding to a well being check after relatives said they hadn't heard from him in a while. After Hill's body was removed. Police say they found two pipe bombs and other explosive material inside the unit last night. The source also said there appeared to be a meth lab inside the apartment as well. Chicago police used Lower Wacker Drive to take the explosive material away to soldier field for proper disposal. I was going and I loved Soldier Field because I thought the sightlines were really nice was bull exactly. Um, with the with the renovation of Soldier Field. I'm not. I've not been a fan of that ever since it happened. No. Well, they did a couple things, you know, even for the broadcasters. I know the dollar station, but I've talked to the guys the overhang on the West side where they broadcast from. You can't see punch when I go in there. Yep. You can't see the past week ago, There was a deep pass. You can't see it. There's some premium seats over there. People pay a lot of money and I was I was not sitting in one of those, but I was On the other side is walking through the concourse, and I kind of just was hanging back where you could stand and I was trying to watch the game. If it's a real if it's a bomb. If it's a point if you can't see it, you know the other thing, too, is in this day and age. Now of the fact that cold weather city's air getting Super Bowls, there is a minimum requirement for seats and seating capacity. And I believe it is at 66,000. Which is what the old configuration of soldier field was. They cut out 4000 seats. It's a 61,000 seat stadium. That's and that's small compared to others. Maybe it's very small compared to others. So I mean, I get what they wanted to do. They keep the columns get the history keep the tradition. But it just It looks very oddly juxtaposed well and it you know, to get in and out of there. It's not fun. It is a chore and like, Look here I am complaining about going on football game. I've been to a football game in a long time, but the bridge situation to go up and down and I feel like you gotta walk a couple miles to get in or out of there. It's just and think about. If you try to take a family of four, it's expensive. It's expensive. First of all, before you even have a hot dog or you buy a drink. You're looking at a few 100 bucks just to get in the building, and it's probably not the greatest in terms of seats. No. Yeah, it's hard. It's hard because it's such a Everybody loves the bears.
