"Having power and not knowing if I'm gonna have to bring a newborn home into a hot house. Not really helping about this. A PS G Long Island crew Foreman Heard Sofia's story here on WCBS and P S E G got their power back. On late this afternoon. Way to go. So for 75 years, he has made it his solemn duty to bear witness to share his experiences with young people. I'm a survivor of the war. All your heroes have like crosses. They're your heroes. There's the ones you respect, Not me. This so called pop up party, standing around massless in a crowd outside a bar is just a big knucklehead. Move is standing around massless inside one, but there's not a bunch of bored young people pulled off in the wee hours on end TA bust. The video shows partygoers smoking a hookah. Dancing and even taking their clothes off, not a mask in sight. You can kill to the gym or a museum or eat inside a restaurant. But you can save your child's school with hundreds of other kids. The Plague of Justinian I

"Welcome back to another episode of five minutes in Church history. On this episode, we're talking about a very dark moment in church history and history the plague of Justinian. The first first let's talk about just in the first he was born in four eighty seven. He came to be Roman emperor in five, twenty seven and he reigned until his death in five sixty three at the time of becoming Roman emperor the barbarian tribes controlled much of what was the Roman Empire The ostrogoths controlled Rome in the boot of Italy that extends down into the Mediterranean Sea the visigoths controlled Spain, the vandals controlled what was formerly North Africa the Roman empire was a fraction and a mere shadow of its former self just Indian ruled from capital at Constantinople. He was determined to bring back the glory that once was the Roman Empire. To do so he would need to launch military campaigns to the east into the Iberian Peninsula to the south and the vandals to the West and the ostrogoths into the north. He had to launch military campaign literally in every direction. And he was very successful after a decade or so of military campaigns warfare. Then in five forty, two Justin faced a new invisible enemy. Well, we'll get to that in a moment first a few more points on just in the first, he is known as giving us the Codex Justinian us it's also sometimes called the Corpus juris civilised. This is the body of civil law. Someone took the time to count it. It's somewhere around the neighborhood one million words. It was a massive rule of law to govern the Roman Empire contains laws on criminal and civil matters on trade, but it also controls laws regarding heresy and Orthodoxy, and even laws regulating paganism. Another thing about just in the first is that he is the creator of the Huggy Sophia he was not the architect though he had significant conversations with the architect and was very influential in the plans but it was under his watch that the Haganah Sophie was built from five, thirty, two to five, thirty seven the old basilica had fallen during riots in that city and just in use the occasion to build what was the biggest church the Roman Empire ever saw its length was two, hundred, sixty, nine feet. Its width was two hundred and forty feet and extended a height of one hundred and eighty feet. It was a massive structure. The HAGIA Sofia. Well, that's just any in the first. Now, briefly on his plague in five, forty to the bubonic plague broke out. This is the your cineas pestis. What came to be known as the black plague. It would come again in the thirteen hundreds and it would manifest throughout the Middle Ages and the time of the reformation. Back in five, forty, two, it is believed to have started in Egypt. This plague then carried on merchant ships too many nations and to three continents. Africa Europe Asia it is credited as the first pandemic in recorded history. It brought all of the efforts of Justinian one to a stop it ended the military campaigns devastated the economy. It ended up killing millions at its height. It would take five thousand lives a day in the city of Constantinople alone. Even. Just any in the first contract. Did it. But he survives one of the stories from that time PRA copious notes of the effect of the plague on the people it caused them to shake off the unrighteousness of their daily lives and practice the duties of religion with diligence but sadly, he also notes. That as soon as they were rid of the disease, they went right back to their old ways. Well, that's just any in the first, and that's the justinian plague five, forty two

"This is great because this mystery man that no one cares to look into. Though a lot of these, we've seen a lot of mystery, men and women in this pandemic, because they're wearing masks, and whenever a celebrity is with someone that the press can identify, they are the mystery, man or mystery woman mystery earns telling you it is the were at the low point of of actual society, but we are at the high point of mystery. Mystery Man Culture You can't deny it I mean this is not a value judgment, because it's terrible out there, but we are at a high point of mystery man culture, it is misery after mystery mount there and mystery woman. The intrigue is strong so Tori to be kissed a mystery man one year after her split from Jesse lease offer with Jesse. The mandate both were on Chicago. They were both on the Chicago shows. I got so excited about Bobby Song I broke my chair. And now we're moving onto what? What is the Banana Bonanza of the week I mean these people they don't stop they don't I am yeah. I'm impressed by them I. I'm I'm a little annoyed by them, but they still fascinate me. You Know Oh Yeah I. Mean that's that's why we like them so much because we hate them. We hate to love them, you know. We. Have some sample headlines? Don't go on what I'm saying. Last week. I I think I cut a little bit because we didn't really get into it of the fact, that Ben. on a met Ben's kids. That was like a big deal. There were the first images and I don't even know why they let them take pictures of this, but they paraded the kids down. The street I think that that's actually the more shocking thing. That's more shocking than the fact that it actually happened because you're sorta thing like Jen's ray protective of these children. She's very protective of Ben like she doesn't want. To Give Ben False. Hope in a way. You know like yes. But to have her be okay with your walking them all down the street and found the photographers is really. It's weird and unexpected for her for the two of them all they want us to be photograph, but for Gen to be okay with it is strange eight can. It's very confusing. Just the Paparazzi of of a of it all you know like. I'm very confused at like kind of the mindset behind doing that in a way, it's weird. Okay, so what else there's pictures of him. There was a photo was like they're going road trip, but it's like I don't. If they went on a road trip. They weren't gone more than a day because it's like. He got coffee and they got in the car and she brought her dog Lake Road trip to the nearest. Dunkin donuts. They went and wrote up the nearest Dunkin donuts, and then later on, they were looking at property together and I don't know why. I don't know there's these there these photos of her. The photos of them looking at property got to headlines for two reasons one. They were looking at property together like a new build of a big bill. It got press because it means that they're gonNA. Trust because she was like Ashiq Tie Dye sweatsuit. Okay, so fortunately they're both wearing masks and the headline which you pointed out is very strange. It's Ben Affleck out new property with girlfriend. Armas as their quarantine romance continues to go from strength to strength. I think. Email meal think that's the way that's their way of saying. It gets stronger, but somehow it got miscommunicated from that like their romance. If they just had their romance, get stronger, that would be a more concise way to say this, but the daily. Mail you know is never concise. As their quarantine. Romance goes from strength to strength. It's really weird. It's really weird right so they're looking at property I I'm reading this as. I'm not willing to look too deeply into this like i. don't necessarily think they're moving number one. Ben Has a great house. It's either she's either. It's. He's I know that he just bought that big out. Why would he move? Okay I I I would guess that either A. She's in the market to move into a place alone. Around. With. You baby or this is just a thing that they do together. Some people just look at open houses. Especially when you're rich in Los Angeles. Can I suggest a third option? They're not looking at property at all. They're just looking at a house and pointing. No, because they went inside, they were they were. That's a realtor. They went inside with a realtor. Yeah, okay, okay fine. Go in to a building shoutout to banana, choosing one of the worst times to go real estate. These to just do it again and again, and again they its terrible time to start a relationship as to celebrities, but they made it work a terrible time to introduce your your girlfriend to the kids, but I guess they made it work in terrible time to find a new place to live, but it looks like these two are going to make it work. Stronger strengthened strain strength to strength. Strength from strength to strength. Here's a caption from the Hollywood life. The multi Hollywood allaster appeared upbeat as he balanced several iced coffees snacks from Dunkin donuts and to Amazon packages and his arms. That's how I imagine Ben Affleck. Constantly Kolding Amazon Packages Dunkin and coffee. Yeah, he has three copies by the way. That's very strange I think maybe one of them was for Ben because we know. Sorry Matt Matt. Matt Damon went over to Ben's house. Recently enough. It was the same day maybe one of it was for the real. Maybe one of it was for the nanny. If Baby, you never know that I've got it could be for this last thing. Is people exclusive just a classic anonymous source getting way too way through personal Ben Affleck getting serious with onto, Armez says. Says source quote. She's a great influence, and this is what the friend says. In the latest issue of people. They are enjoying their time together. He makes her laugh and she's a great influence. "From Chicago. This is film spotting. I'm Adam Kanner and I'm Josh. Larsen can't be easy to keep working after three days. No sleep to keep focus. You're seeing things yet. Cause little flashes tricks alight that's Robin Williams with Al Pacino in Christopher Nolan's insomnia from two thousand and two as the follow up to his mind. Bending breakout hit. Memento insomnia struck some at the time as a frustratingly straightforward thriller. This week we continue our Nolan who've review with a fresh look plus we'll have thoughts on three new releases all available online more. Can I get up Pacino ahead? Unfilled SPOTTING Welcome to film spotting Josh. The theaters are closed. But the movies keep coming at least if you know where to look this week. We've got reviews of three new releases. Include ONE. That's definitely a golden brick. Were the debut. That's the cozy noir thriller. Blow the man down a feature debut set in Downey's main and the down under set the true history of the Kelly gang from director. Justin Kurt Sel and the high school set Sela and the spades one. You caught up with Josh Ross. Going to continue our Christopher Nolan who've review with two thousand? Two's insomnia the black sheep. Maybe of the Nolan filmography. We'll see if it does deserve that reputation later in the show first though let's talk some new movies for a change including that Australian import true history of the Kelly gang mother soldier pan. You cost me you. Can that back a child? It is already traveling. Full tilt toward the men are would become. That's from the trailer for True History of the Kelly gang which is available to rent ondemand this weekend. The director is Justin Kerr. Zal who previously made twenty eleven the snow town murders than in two thousand fifteen. He did Macbeth. Which starred Michael Faster and Marion Cotillard? All three of them re teamed for two thousand sixteen assassin's creed now. Kelly gang is set in colonial Australia. Where Kelly and his group of anarchists violently rebel against their British rulers nineteen. Seventeen George MCI plays Ned Kelly. The film also stars Russell. Crowe Nicholas Holt Thomasson. Mackenzie and Charlie Hunnam so strong. Cast their Adam. You're able to get an early look at this one before. It's on demand release. Did the cast live up to. Its Promise House the film in general some of it definitely did in terms of the cast. This is actually my first. Kerr Zal film. Haven't seen any of the other three that you mentioned despite the fact that Michael Fast Bender has been in those two that you mentioned and I'm always down for Good Shakespeare Adaptation. I can't compare obviously this film the Kelly Gang to his adaptation of Macbeth specifically but there is a lot of the Scottish play in his telling of Ned Kelly. Se Davis from our beloved. The Baba Duke plays his mother in this film and she is not someone to cross. She's domineering she's vengeful. It's born from years of oppression as a woman and as an Irish woman living under English rule in Australia. You hear her in the trailer. Seda a young Ned. You're a man. Now you go out and show the world. This isn't a gentle mother's encouragement. It's an order and like Macbeth himself. As ned gets closer to his fate the matter he gets and that unhinged hallucinatory spirit is. What colonel taps into visually think about the late nineteenth century? We get in. John Hill coats the proposition as a counterpoint. This is not that at all. This is realism clashing with fantasy to the point where there are times in certain sequences and shots. Josh especially a recurring motif of a man riding a horse. That feels more like more door than the Bush way outside Melbourne. And so I've dropped Macbeth. I've dropped Lord of the rings throw in the assassination of Jesse James by the Coward. Robert Ford and the pop aesthetic of Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. Except with punk instead and you get some sense of what watching the true history of the Kelly. Gang is really like which may sound really amazing to you and other people. Yeah I'm I'm hooked so far. Yeah it's definitely a lot and honestly it was a little bit too much for me. Wants so much to be this fiery sneer. That doesn't conform do conventional biography and it's full of these big ideas about colonialism and storytelling and masculinity and challenging gender and sexual norms. The gang the Kelly gang actually wears dresses for me. It's just all too much of a performance of assault to really embrace and actually MCI is part of it. He's a really intriguing presence and has an unsettling physicality that he definitely brings to this role. A presence was kind of all he was in nineteen seventeen. That's kind of by the design of that film and I haven't read anything about his performance but I wouldn't be shocked to learn that he went really method here that he he went so deep. And as I said there's there's an intensity to it there's a real physicality to it but he's burrowed so deep into it. So deep into Ned Kelly psyche that he never emerges for me and I can appreciate the audacity of what Kerr's doing here and his. I our first shot of young. Ned actually is him peering through a slit in his makeshift home while his mother is engaged in a sex act with a paying customer. That's a British officer played by Hunnam and then later at the end it is big showdown with authorities. He's wearing iron over his head for protection. With the sliver is is that matches that exact same point of view so crucial knows what he's doing absolutely and he does have a really game cast Russell. Crowe shows up for a little bit in this movie. And there's a lot of fun as outlaw. Who Basically pays for? He buys a young Ned as an indentured servant to teach him the trade. And I really like Nicholas Holt. In this movie. He shows up maybe about midway through as a really charming despicable and entitled English constable. Who BEFRIENDS NED in the family? Until the family decides that they're not going to subjugate themselves to him like he expects everyone to do so some juicy fund performances here and crystals definitely doing allot as I said in terms of the filmmaking sounds like there might even be a little bit of animal kingdom in there too with the mother son Dynamic and of course the Australians setting so I. I'm intrigued by those comparisons. We'll we'll have to see if the catch up with if it works a little bit better for me. The True History of the Kelly gang is available to rent on demand right. Now the new one you caught up with Josh is called Sela and the spades the directing debut of Theresa Poh. It had its debut back in January at Sundance and it came to Amazon prime. This past weekend in your letterbox review you wrote any movie that mixes the DNA of mean girls. Brick and schooldays has my attention. We're all over the place with our references in this show so far. Tell me more. Yeah this this could be a lazy short and in some ways doing this exercise. But I think it's it is really helpful in this case because those are great films with distinct styles each trying to do something that maybe you hadn't quite seen before done in that way and mixing it all together is really exciting. That also puts a ton of pressure on a relatively small film like Sela and the spades and so I don't know if it's the sort of pressure this movie can entirely bare but I like that. All of these elements are in here that the basic scenario is selling. The speights takes place at an elite boarding school and we follow the illicit dealings and also the the relationships among various student factions there called and each of these factions. They're essentially like criminal gangs. So Sela played by Lovey Simone. She runs the drug-dealing spades. And you know there are maybe some Macbeth Lady Macbeth specifically comparisons to make here in her ambition and the way she holds grip on power. She does take an underclassmen under her wing. But as we come to learn you know it may not be the most altruistic reasons that underclassmen played by Celeste O'Connor now both of those performances are really strong by Simone and O'Connor There are some good supporting turns to. I could see this being one of those smaller. First films where two or three of the actors in them and this happened with mean girls as well right pop up in later films and you really see what what great talents. They have their There's also the whole criminal element calls on brick of course that this is going on among high schoolers beneath the adults is. It's kind of amazing. How little the adults have to play in in this world And then there are some really striking flourishes by PLO as director. And here's where some of the the school days Spike Lee school days comparisons come in because Sela is also the head of the spirit squad for the school and they have a direct address to the camera routine just about what. It's like to be a seventeen year old

"With it for that amount of time with my plumbers to way. Love now. Moving onto the practicalities filmmaking. I'm sure many people will be interested to know. How did you raise the money for this film? How did you finance it? I mean to start with lots of beg barring and now I didn't steal anything but certainly a lot of you know. Saddam gas started filming in two thousand and three awful and I had no camera. We've sheeting on tape I didn't have access to anything but what I managed to shoot a little bit enough to Pique. The interest of what was then known as a sort of contents brand agent? Say they gave me my start up money in I WOULD. I would shoot little vignettes for them which they would use for Smirnov. I wasn't being endorsed by man and I wasn't endorsing man of the gave a little bit of money to start creating some scenes and then there was a huge raft of time where there was no money until and I was still very much working in. The fiction of the Industry Annoy self-funding it which was not very easy tool and go into huge amounts of debt and then when I came back to it five years ago when I picked up again I did a kickstarter that raised enough money to pay for the edit and then often we had a a few test screenings we manage to get an early agreement for sales at Scotts and then a distributor came on board and gave us an advance to pay for the music rights which was the biggest problem in the film because we had an awful lot of music which cost a lot of money Fifty two tracks in total. So I mean you know it's it's it's certainly not being a cash. Cow Certainly not made my money back. Yeah it sounds like him is quite hard. Look for you I mean. Were you having to do this in Iran or did you have a team around? You are pretty much did it. On my own only. I started to have a team once. I approached my dead in mental Christopher ahead of Dartmouth films and often me p woods exact produce said and then I had another Reagan mental cooled. Jackie Mason. Who became sort of like my champion? I must say I didn't really have any producers or system I mean I had a couple of interns that would stick by me for six months until they go to job but having someone that just champions you and says you're doing okay. Just keep going keep going Barry. Mind that a a huge impetus was turning forty and having my second child at the same time sort of a big head of steam on it and made me go. Right of gotTa do this now. We'll change in a few months time so there wasn't any team but there was a huge amount of energy and goodwill from a handful of people finding one getting documentary feature making. What have you learned on this journey that you do differently? Or what other tips would you pass on? The landscape is completely changed for the better. You know so the fact that people can make documentaries so much easier now than than twenty years ago. is already just such a different experience but the thing that I would do differently is trion know my story before I started as I said you know. There was a benefit to having a long period of time but I think that I spent a couple of years not really knowing what the story was and I think that that may I shorten that amount of time just by having a clear understanding and it wasn't through lack of research or anything like that just did not what it was and I think that despite technology and finance being more available now you still need to know what your story is and again. This is something I say to students. You know what what is the story? Okay this is an intriguing character. An amazing experience. But how are we going to go on a journey with them so that those things don't change today? I guess another thing is to to. Somehow people were surprised by this but took to treat it as a script in some way. You know to to actually right out. What would be ideal thing to happen? And if I can. How could I make that happen? You know. There's this sense? That with documentary specially with younger filmmakers. That you just turn up. Tunnel the camera and the drama dots. And I think you know later on you discover that it requires a little bit more orchestration so to really think about how you're going to structure your film in advance in just set you up so much better great. That's a great great tip with Severe Orleans. Thank you very much for joining us on the DACHSHUND more podcast. It's been a pleasure. Thank you for having me. You've been listening to the DACHSHUND. "sofia" Discussed on No Challenges Remaining

"Welcome to no challenges remaining live from the end of the Australian. Open twenty twenty. I am Ben. Rothenberg joined by my dear friend. Courtney win how you doing courtney and another slam. How you holding up? I'm awesome like three quarters of bottles. Tonight is great. I guess that's right right. Yeah I don't always because sometimes. The women's finals on Women's doubles on the last day some plans. Yeah so no but today because Sophea Kenan Australian Open champion was so kind as to do her champions Corner interview the night after she won as opposed to pushing it off to the next day I had the whole day. So I've been in my jammies jams. I'm chilling out. It's been great tweeden. Lots of Oscar. Which I thought worked really well because you had a bigger selection. That would've thought you might know movies. I was like I had no idea. There was something nineteen seventeen gifts. I didn't know either but the one movie that was a little bit difficult for Ford versus. Ferrari there were not many gifts on that so I felt a little bad. I had one but it wasn't even from the movie. You know what honestly it's not GonNa Win Anyway. So let's let's move on. Wow Wow saying not even any faith in a Matt Damon Christian Bale Save Our auto or vehicle. Let's go back to the real sports vehicle. Which is the car known as the Sofia Cannon? That doesn't make any sense. But I've spent a lot of this term so you understand where that comes from Sofia Sofia the nickname so works. Okay let me read this real quick. I saw multiple references during this tournament. Trying to make puns of Sofia Cannon and the movie or Book Sophie's Choice. Which what like no. Don't do that first of all. It's not even her name. Sophie and Sophie are different names. Second we don't make Sophie's choice jokes about much anything can can you explain why because it's a heroin? Holocaust story and of Ed have we choose cannot choose that choose Soviet cannon. Which used to just start with her. This is the story. I remember from this. If you can in case you missed it. In Courtney's brief allusion to it and also just in life is a Grand Slam Champion now Sofia Kenan Aka Sonia Cannon Nickname Common Russian nickname for Sofia won this tournament. Kind of stealthily. I don't think she was someone. We talked to that much when we did like are midway show true but she comes through only had to play one seed in the tournament which is remarkable. That one was number one ash party. the unseeded player that she played in the final was number thirty. Thirty two right and is a two-time Slam Chad number. One so those are asked risk of Boll and honestly cocoa golf who she played against in the fourth round as proven to be a very tough out at slams cocoa golf has now played three slams loss to eventual champion. Hallett at Wimbledon number one seed and defending Champ Osaka US Open and eventual Champ Kenan and Australian Open. So that's pretty good. Pretty good puff out tough out 'cause involved and before that junk's y yeah who obviously former quarterfinalist here and Tough out and watch the entirety of that match can in Jong and it was tough high. That could have gone the other way very easily. But this is one of these sort of like a lot of ways. Quintessential modern era women's tennis results of player. Likes if you can't who's in the ensemble leading the conversation putting together the matches getting rising to the occasion. I think and winning big tournament was trying to do the math or do the counting coming into this tournament. I think Generously Sophia. Cannon was probably the seventh most talked about American player behind both Williams's behind Cocoa Goff behind keys Stevens and eats them over. Okay separate seven probably true and if you want to argue. Bethany is ahead of personally. Maybe you could probably not Yeah and Collins or risk on a lot of people were like I mean e or Jan Brady. I mean those are two players that I thought for Sweet. I was like. Oh where are alley? Risk and Jen Brady GonNa Land Brady obviously pulled out how it was a good man which is a great match. And but yeah. But it's you know. I mean with with Sonia as she reminded us in her a delightful press conference. You know twenty nine hundred w tape most improved that F. Why wouldn't run into my story? I'd forgotten that thank you. I mean I highly recommend everybody like pull up the Youtube. A press conference for Sonia from her. It's great it's just. It's just delightful and I think that it. It does kind of give you some sense of personality across the board but Yeah No. Nobody was talking about her when there was every reason to be talking about her. Honestly I mean anybody who's paid attention to her last year and I've been pretty much like keying in on Sonia since the Fed Cup final USA versus check in Prague. Twenty eighteen hours there. No none of the Americans played like no Sereno. Venus no You know Mattie no Sloan Mandawa November way and so there was Tony getting getting the call to play Fed Cup final on on away soil in one of the most lake not antagonistic. Because they're not antagonistic at all but they're just very partisan yeah the crowd at the and she handled it incredibly. Well she too tough three-set loss issues absolutely gutted in absolute tears Kathy Rinaldi. You had to like really really comforter. And but ever since I was I was so impressed by what she displayed there because it was the first time that I've probably seen from Sonia where like she that feistiness wasn't a detriment wasn't it didn't hinder her and help her. And I was like okay like if you can play like that. Like Fair enough in terms of comportment. Sometimes she's not vocal the same way a lot but she. I think you might have competitor like American Putin. Save almost Is Not no because because to me the thing about Sonia like one of the things that I can say it's different but yeah yeah it's different but like like she doesn't fist pump in your face. She's not sure shouting at you. She's just for that ball of energy a ball of energy for sure but she doesn't do this stuff that like Putin does or even call ins where it's like you know in your face. It's just her like she's she makes her own energy. She's the source of zero point energy. So yeah so so. That was when I first start paying attention. And obviously she had an amazing twenty nineteen and three titles and beats reigned at Roland Garros and be consecutive number ones in Toronto and Cincinnati. And stuff like that and had an amazing season. But that being said I came into Melbourne. Not Not putting on a short list. I mean she she lost. I'd watch him as she played against. Asaka in you know obviously wasn't anybody shortlist. It's not just us and I mean. She asaka solid enough massive losses in quarterfinals of Brisbane to Asaka three cents three cents was the top twenty player coming in. Yeah but just hadn't had a deep run at a slam before and I think this slasher kind of the thing we think about it and it's an interesting question you know. I think also like what a win something that Ha- what something like Sonia Cannon winning a Grand Slam how that feels like applicable to Madison keys to a fiddle. Lena players who have done all the right things have checked a lot more boxes and even like different tore like dominic team. Who's like doing everything he can write and like it's really both. It's really solid resume. If like gradually building work getting better and more and more impressive where someone like Sonia can come out and skip a Lotta rungs on the ladder. All at once win three international titles titles were small three titles but small was Hobart Guangzhou in my Orca. And then. Yeah and then Willis Lamb and be suddenly top ten something top American and. She was a very very steady player. She did a lot of stuff at terminal outside of those titles. Like you said back-back Semis in Canada in Cincinnati last summer. Same thing that led up a Sloan's get lamb twenty. Seventeen as she did it more mmediately. We have a canon just like. She's put in a lot worse than in Canada Selfie. And you know. And it's clear talking to her but she doesn't want to be selfish she wants to be oppressed. The spicy wants to appreciate and she somebody who doesn't seem at all to be running or at least at this point doesn't have any pressure on her in her career at least externally really at all that could be new to her when that comes being in. Scotland seeing how she just to that. I think she'll be fine with it though. I think she'll be fine and and I agree with you insofar as you know. She hasn't had the the External Media Federation pressure. Getting called in for post loss. Press she and I think that one of the moments did there were two moments that really distilled cannons Melbourne runs. Me One was when she walked into the press room for the fight for her last final press conference and she literally stopped in her trout. Jaw dropped that. The pressroom was standing room. Only jam packed full. She kinda didn't know what to do. She looked so much more comfortable. You know returning garbage serves then she? In that moment she was like holy crap like you know And then on top of that like later and it was almost like I made it kind of moment like it wasn't like a scared thing. She was like Whoa. This is big. Yeah Yeah Yeah. And then later we have little little round tables in the wires Internet. Roundtable with her yeah. I asked her because she had obviously had to do her her photo shoot today. Her champions photo shoot and I was excited. You have dress this up. Like twelve thirty in the morning after she had one and she's like please don't use this but no and we all started laughing and she was laughing. She's like I do this just the way she's like in that way. I bet you didn't think either but obviously the hope and the work was there but getting back to the point about about not having the external pressure makes me think a lot of kind of Bianca. It makes me think of of Naomi's well yes there there may not be quote Unquote Federation pressure outside pressure. Whatever you know. I'm not that that Naomi went under the radar. Obviously she was around but she but at the time before she won the US Open. There wasn't that that their focus on her. Yeah but there is this very very real and I say this myself very very real immigrant pressure of seeing your parents sacrifice everything for your dream and Naomi is actually probably the most open about this feeling like I had to win because I need to make money like not in a negative way but just like my I mean. I didn't want my mom to work anymore. Like I didn't want my family to sacrifice I wanted them to be paid back and comfortable for the rest of their lives for the sacrifices that they made. That's a very very I mean. Maybe with Naomi when I talk about it with myself like it's a very Asian American thing but I don't think that that's particularly Asian American. I think it applies across so think was Sonja like I haven't had time to to really jump into it lake in terms of this level of depth and and I look forward to over the next few months to really sit down with her independently and just be like Yo. Let's let's forget all about results but let's just talk about this journey for real I can't think that for Sonia. She would have thought that there was no pressure to succeed because there was she uses that American dream as a lot she. She uses the phrase American dream a lot. And that's how her father came to the US back and forth for a while like confused. Because I it the other way I moved to the US. I came to the US for work for normal economic immigration purposes. I believe in Soviet Union in nineteen eighty seven so a full eleven years before she was born and then the family moved back to Russia for a while to the around extended family and stuff when they were when she was born tavist support. It's not an uncommon thing to do to have support from your family. You know grandparents off that when you're having a baby and you might be living relatively alone without much of a community certainly network around you in the states and then she moved back to the US at a young age or move to the US. Young Age I think she said she only has US citizenship right now. We're sort of a a real part of the Florida. Youth tenets furniture. Like she's she was everywhere. I mean she was unavoidable. She's in this video of Kim Clijsters. Wta found which was great touring. Touring the Miami Open. She's also in one. Jensen was in Charleston. Think so yeah well. She's there and she is talk about how she can return. Andy Roddick Sir and I love when things really telling 'cause like she's not daunted by all she's like I would have a strategy. I would do my split step out..

"Here's my talk with Sofia Coppola. A lot of people don't realize they might be like why Sofia Coppola on Radio Cherry bomb. What does does she have to do with the food world while she has lots to do with the food world? The copland name is closely associated with film making. But there's a coppola wind food and hospitality. Empire you you might not know about and includes everything from villas and hotels to cafes the Great Women Spirits collection I learned about that earlier and the world renowned Francis. Ford Coppola Coppola winery. So I'm curious via what is your role in that side of the family business. Yeah we moved to Napa Valley when I was in first first grade so I grew up in Napa. Anum in Rutherford and Wine country. My Dad having Italian relatives that used to make wine and their basement in New York thought. Oh we we should make some wine and so he started just making wine on our property and then turned into a small business. And then you know of all these years. It's it's grown on and that's really you know our main family bizarre. His you know his main business. And then we also have our filmmaking company but but yes I grew up on a winery around wine and we always had wine on the table and food was a big you know might add cooking. My parents cook going. Imagine having the main focus for Italian American family is coming together for meals and who did most of the cooking both my parents. That's what mostly my dad. Yeah he can just kind of throw anything together and whatever He. I always want to look at a certain point. I wanted to learn how to cook. I didn't really cook growing up. And he's I just feel that utilise together and I was like no I don't I need a recipe. I need to know the amounts like your recipe girl. Yeah he he has intuition and I am too nervous in the kitchen. I enjoy enjoy cooking but I'm not. I don't feel at ease so I need it to be explained carefully so I appreciate it and my mom's cook too but he made the recipes that he his family only grew up on every Easter. Makes this thing called pizza. Ted With rustic pie kind of Quiche station Christmas Eve. We have Octopus Pasta You know these traditions that his his mom started. Did you know your grandparents. Yeah Yeah I grew up as a kid being around them and my grandmother Morella Morella. His mom was very glamorous and made all these dishes and she had sheet vinyl records as her place mats. She's very Stylish oh well where she sort of feel around in the kitchen did the glamour extend to the Oh yeah she was always glamour. She always had like kind of coral nail Polish and jewelry jewelry and Turquoise I sat on a block flip and Chinese Pajama top since it yes she was always always had look. Oh my Gosh I want to see some pictures of her. So do you have a role in the family. Like food and wine might stat always tried soon vo involved my brother and I 'cause it's a family company that he wants to continue. Continue on the same way with always having us on the film set so officially I'm a board member That's accessible on the wine route. But I I'm not. Does that mean to be on the board I A I go to meetings and give my opinions and feedback and try to learn as much as I can about it but I'm not that involved day to day but the when I was a kid he said I'm going to make you a champagne that someday and I used to love the curial because a teenager is must really be you know two pairs for the first time I loved cure-alls and I thought it was like the chic EST during. Yeah no I know. I haven't had one in years but when I was sixteen I was interning in Perez. And I think that's where I knew about them but he always said. Oh when you're twenty one I'm going to make your champagne. And then he he really did and so called Sophia yes I have my name Sake. Champagne that he made for me and it's I think they do was kind of in the style per second it has mascot and it's dry but it's fun to have your own I drink. It's also one of the prettiest bottles I remember when it came out because it was so different from sort of other sparkling wines and champagnes because it was almost minimalist yet. I love the Design my dad design the label based on a French jam Jam label and then. I don't know what they had to have the pink Sullivan but I love those very festive. And it's it's nice to give as a gift and it's always have on hand and then he came up with the can't Dan idea which I don't. I don't think that was ever done before I think it was. Your family's company was the very first one to put wine can. Yes they did making this this little. It'll sparkling wine and Kim was his invention which I thought was always. That was really fun. We put them in our pockets and bring them to movies. And so it's it's fun to have and have in the fridge. wjr Did your dad. Actually wait until you were twenty one before launching came out probably a little off after that because it took longer to to actually make but yeah I remember we had A launch party. Do you risk ofi sure that that's how we met actually get so resear- helped throw a party in the basement of sure. Another club club called doubles in the ninety S. We had this really fun Launch Party and Ninety Yeah yes announcement around for a while but yeah and now so feels like a full fledged collection yet and they started expanding it and they have a rosy that I really love enjoying the summer and There's a woman. Winemaker Thandi Vulcan. WHO's the Winemaker and there's a Riesling and Chardonnay Chardonnay to you ever have to step foot in the wine shop anymore or do you just you know I do. There's one actually in our neighborhood on living in the West village seagraves on Hudson which is nearer butcher near the Great Burger. I was telling you about but I so I do like to try other wines and be married to a Frenchman. I also appreciate French wine. He actually he his winery to my kids have wonders on both both sides. So funny it's called a Chateau Torri and they make a great Rosaiah. There in that region in Provence. So do you still go back and forth between Paris and here yoido place there such. You'll look to spend time there but we're more based here because our kids are in school and more in New York I noticed you even have a non alcoholic wine named after one of your producers. Oh Yeah Mr Yuri. My Surgery Henley doesn't drink and I wanted to make him a festive drink as he is a sophisticated guy and he's he's like what I want to drink Martinelli on special occasions so we made I think it's a really cute bottle design. He was a bow. Ties local Bowtie. But yeah I I love this product. I have to to get it out there more because because we only made a little bit but I feel like I feel like people who don't drink. Alcohol can enjoy it because it tastes. Good it's basically corey the winemaker maker at our place. They got a machine that takes alcohol out so we took our blunk deblanc and just took the alcohol out so it tastes good. It's it's not. It's a little bit sweeter because it changes changes a little bit but it's definitely more elegant than Martinelli than I thought you know. Grown up sophisticated sparkling apple juice. Yeah exactly exactly the I mean. The whole non alcoholic thing is big growing part of the industry. Because I think you've had all these people for a long time. Who maybe they weren't drinking by choice? You weren't drinking by necessity but there just weren't never a lot of great options the ones I remember tastes terrible sweet and the labels are really ugly so so I thought there's a yeah a need for that and Corey was saying that the lower alcohol alcohol drinks are becoming more and more popular. I'm always bummed when you go to a restaurant you don't necessarily really feel like drinking and you ask what the Non Alcoholic options are and it's basically water and soda. That's always a bummer for me. Yeah I know it should be more creative and and you've had kids so even when you're pregnant and you're out in a restaurant. Yeah yeah there's this great drink so we have this little tiny hotel in Italy from the town where or my dad's from called Palazzo Margherita Bernal deb. which is it's really beautiful? But they have a drink there they make in the summer at sparkling water with fresh rosemary and lemon and asked what the I have to get the whole great. Yeah and it's really nice in the summer when you want something that has flavor but it took a cocktail we need A. We need an updated cocktail recipe. Be From you. I think you're actually in the. Are you in the first issue. I feel like you're in the first issue talking about French. Seventy Five's Oh I think so. Yes yeah we were talking about the the bar the Ritz Hotel which was opened when we interviewed you and then closed for all the renovations and lower back. I haven't I haven't been back anyway. Yeah I call Alan the bartender there is he back. He's back. I'm pretty sure he's back because has always a cool guy. Yeah he's back and I love that he Went on hiatus but they made sure to have him and it was the tiniest bar for for such like legendary space when you would go see it and you're like Oh gosh. This is literally like the size of a shoebox yet so cozy now now. It's all kinds of Clinton cleaned up so it looks a little too perfect but it's it's so yeah and when I was living in Paris Duran tonight we will go there and he makes those beautiful cocktails with fresh flowers and but they're strong so you have to watch. I think I've had some of those but I still love a French. Seventy thirty five have you. Do you ever go. Oh Yeah I filmed beguile there. We spent a couple of months there and I love I love I love it there. Did you ever go to that. Little Bar called French seventy-five in Orleans I don't think so. s liver of a bar. No I have to go. Its so-called. Obviously everyone gets the French seventy eighty five and they have great bar snacks. It's like all Leopard and sort of like monkey land. Next time I go there. I'M GONNA go for sure you would love of it so people can also visit the the winery. Oh Yeah in Geyserville there's The one with our net coppola winery. which it's really nice and I love the restaurant there? It's called rustic. And it's all my dad's favorite dishes and the Great Fiorentino's stakes which I love and And it's based pool with Craig Very. Yeah it's really family friendly. We bring our kids. Hang out by the pool and it's really nice. That sounds great so we stumbled upon the Sophia. Why instagram account and it seems like it's the closest this thing the world will ever get to a Sofia Coppola instagram account? I know that's what my friends like. Marc Jacobs is so An instagram my daughter lives in instagram. And I I know I'm still. Aw dragging behind trying my heels so that was my one for a into kind of playing with that and I wanted it to be reflective of you know my personality finality and what and spirit that definitely comes through every now and then there's like a new photo from you. Yeah Yeah I tried to send the stuff in here and there to to keep it connected. But they don't because I don't I don't look at all the time I kind of forget about that whole universe but I but I But it's fun to dip my toe in new spotlights cool movies you and I love your Muse. "Formula Questions of you know Whacko Song wishes off the back of the one of the are is is. Let's get after it questions that the my ex still has feelings for me like still drops the l word. I have not one ounce of feelings toward him but I had sex in a while. I live in a small town. I don't WanNa be the girl that gets around so I'm wondering is it fucked up to fuck my axe ax even if he still wants me. I don't want him back. I've used the whole I'm not at a place to have a relationship right now. It's just not something I'm ready for. Excuse when I broke up with him we've we've gone to lunch and he brings me coffee at work but constantly shut him down in a relationship aspect is too far to just. WanNa fuck him. Is that not fair. ooh ooh such a great hush. This is the thing I get where you're coming from because I've done this before. You don't want to catch a new body so you go and you fuck an old body that you've already fucked because you're like there we go. I don't have to add another to my goddamn. Resume my repertoire roster. The issue is healing. You are are stringing this person along sound like she's GonNa catch feeling and to give him false hope but it does sound like she's been pretty clear like she doesn't want anything I if I were you and I would be just a straight up with him and be like listen. I am so down to have fun sacks and casual sex but I need to let you know that in no way is this going to become a relationship ever again or at least for a very long time so if you're okay emotionally with US having the fun physical relationship I'm down but I don't WanNa hurt you and then if he's like well he's still down and also you could make sure you say to him like and also I just WanNa make it very clear. This is not me playing any games and try to play hard to get like I literally not interested in having a relationship by you. I just want you also put a paper bag over reader when we fuck yeah and then if he says yes and that's his fault he gets feelings again then use fucking today. I was GONNA say people don't WanNa hear this but that that is on him if he's going to be the idiot who's like. Oh fucking perfect. I can get her back. Maybe she'll saw again and also he's going to be depressed last either way yeah so whether you're not fucking him or whether you are fucking stringing him along that's a good way either way we're just fucking while he's upset and lesser of two evils. I realize for you. Okay okay all right all right. This one's a little different. I WANNA throw in a little spice ice ice. Hey guys will suraj sauce high. Daddy's let's talk about rappers so my friends and I went through a phase where we would spend a lot of of time as little groupies Yup. I said it and we would often end up at Tiger says yes rock city tigers. My best friends are casually Housley hooking up with him every time he would hang out. We were at school the next day yes we were in high school. Shut the fuck up and we went into the bathroom and my friends started freaking seeking out and told me she felt something up there. She puts her fingers in her vagina. pull out tigers leftover condom that fell out inside of her the the night before thought you'd have that little story..

There's free shipping if you buy more than a couple boxes when you are a crazy bitch which hello hello which we we are when you're crazy. Bitch you have this thing called a multiple personality wheel and it comes into play specifically when you're fighting with your man. Now hear me out okay when we see one of our tactics is not working on a man in the middle of a fight at the drop of a hat. We switch rich so for example. If I'm being crazy screaming angry and like that's not working up. Maybe I gotta drop my pants and I gotta go now. Slam slot mode on it that that is literally what growth turn into when they're having a fight with their man. It is so fucking true. I live this every day. I live this every day. Did you decide what type of bitch you like. You could be the sad bitch you could be. The angry bitch the silent treatment bid slutty slutty bit slutty bitch the manipulative veg the exact right. I hope everyone understands what we're saying. I have seven hundred stories stories that can demonstrate that so proud. I'm thinking of one. This probably isn't even one of my crazier moments but I go to us. This is when I was out twenty four twenty five twenty four Livin Gettin it so it was an adult which makes the story really bad but I will say I have grown since then really a new person right. Yes is when I was a caterpillar. I've now become a butterfly. Okay okay. Hey Go ahead so I was as most of the story started. I was intoxicated. Classic Heavily Halloween blackout to be sure not blah. Please stop interrupting my story or making me look that I was upset. That's all that matters resource. Sorry okay. We'll ship in that moment. I hi decided to take matters into my own hands as you always do and I proceeded to grab my chicken sandwich and right. I chucked it in his general direction. Okay and by General Direction is fucking face. Okay God to clarify chicken on his face like to call her true crime of passion he you sound like a fucking law and order episode the True Crime of passion the Knicks Chicken Hatzi go and to go on his face and it was the only I go up. He he screens screens in my face. He did not like the did not like drip. ooh. He goes up to his room locked the door behind him little boy that fucking doc in sucks when that happens number one. She's you can't get in the room turns his phone off so I can't get a hold of him on his phone mature and the IM standing there and I decide. What type of bitch are we going to be today. Are we gonna what person now. How am I GONNA. You can't be slutty. You decide how you're going to start right because you can't be slutty no because he can't see you know this phone on so you can't face EBI naked. which bitch do you choose a lot of times? I start off with angry bitch. I think a lot of girls of course you agree with that. That's like an easy when it started off her knocking on the door. Let me come on. It was a joke. It's a chicken sandwich tax big deal right that wasn't working okay so I switched and I switched to psych ward level bed girl and the good and the reason why is I think a lot of times what pushes me to act. I'm crazy bit right is when I cannot get in contact with that per se. You don't like being blocked. Virtually or guys blocked me that really like trikes Surrey. That's a big trigger. Okay good to know so I start never going to go okay. I am like I have a sharpie and I wrote kind wind all over the walls in your kitchen and I called the police. They're on their way right. I'm GONNA give myself a black eye and myself down the stairs. I had told the police that it was it was you if you don't open the fucking door right so then that wasn't working right oh he didn't succumb to that then wow oh he's strong so he really. Kinda knew. This is like our third year of D. You call the police you oh you bet she's like. You're you have a record due to the pack face dare you that'd be good for you. Okay so overdue I I turned into my third personality third personality which was silent treatment bit. I leave him alone for like an hour. Oh I'm like he's going to come out of his fucking rooms and you come out men I'm there was football on. He was about to sit in that fucking room for the next three weeks if he needed to the silent treatment wasn't working the final bitch which which is the cute bitch. Oh I wasn't expecting. This one's a very interesting one. This isn't what I usually pull out that me ether. He couldn't see me okay so I couldn't do the slutty bit that's worse. His phone was turned off. I couldn't send him a picture. My Ted Right your clitoris. Nothing nothing up Nazis were light tried to you you know put my clear underneath the lace and uh-huh and then I did try to pull a labia our and put it underneath the door wasn't long enough and then of course horace my nipple wouldn't reach either nipple issue for sure so the only body part that was going to fit underneath this door where my hands like my fingers angers okay so I'm like this is the only way that I that I know for certain. He cannot not seeming Amihai because as far as I was concerned he had a spike in headphones in even hear me great point so I play a song on my phone okay. It was probably like our song who knows a song we love fucking knows and I stick my hands underneath the door my fingers underneath the door and I'm like moving them in a way that they're like swaying and dancing with the music okay. That's this sounds very strange very bizarre but it was your desperate time on yeah and you end up doing things that you weren't planning in fact that you were on the ground reaching under a door with fingers creating a little. Dan and I and I also put a little tiny. No Oh underneath the door. That was really cute. Oh so dotted my eyes with a heart like he'll take domestic violence Zeeshan nation baby. I love you make a stronger. What's a little chicken to the feet so this pussy later right so oh he loved it. He bought it. Was the cutest fucking thing he took a video. The I can't post potentially ask him four and it'd be like you've got you out of my life. Why are you just meet the video. Fingers like Jesus Christ. It's worth it to show the daddy game because there should actually have events in so. Let me just break that down. I went from angry bit right to crazy bid silent treatment bitch to Cuba. That's four her personality. You're a very all typing on Yemen. You bring to the tail. You're willing to really go above and beyond in order to get what you want right and I think that's very interesting. The fact they wanted the clip really okay so can you clarify though just so everyone can understand Sophia. How do you in moments like this no when to decide to switch the personality in these situations suffering aggression. It's Kinda at really up to him. That's true if he's he's not cooperating. Oh boy we is about to see every goddamn personality the whole gang the whole fucking gang poll family who will personalities shooting out a CIA. Which one are you get into now big boy do it's true. I've had it where I start. Super innocent sent like the crying part and try to make them feel super bad for you and then the crying in the side is really not fucking doing it and like he's not getting teary eyed either and like his his cause heart is cold realize that coldness and I said okay so you want to really ramp it up here. I'm now going to become so fucking psycho. You're going to be scared and you're GonNa wish that you responded to the Alex Alex because now the crazy Alex the psych ward Alex the writing all over the walls. That's who you're getting. That's WHO's coming out to will be here for the next hour and it's also interesting interesting how you decide which one you're going to start with. who is out on so you know it's going to like determine the trajectory of the person tonight? It's like normal. You think you're GONNA start with angry but if I really fuck up I'm GonNa Start with forgiving like Hugh you and Q. and I'm GonNa be like I am so sorry. I love you more than anything. Please forgive me Blah Blah Blah and when I see that's not working I quickly flip flipping and I will become angry. Bitch and I'll be like I'll be like what else can I do. That's all I can do. I saw why can't you fucking forgive me and then you go incredible hole and then after the incredible hold as he starting to see the fear of God enter your is yes all of a sudden U-TURN slutty Eddie because you've got him where you want. If you see that little twinkle in his eyes like okay this bitch is a little insane but I love her. All of a sudden your titties come out your comes out and you are writing. I they was say I will say I do think guys get sexually aroused and see the crazy really smart to follow the crazy bitch up with the slutty. I I agree with that. I've had a lot of success with that that Little Combo I love. I love none of them. bitches personalities are like and then you go calm cool and collected. We're like more reasonable bitch that nobody even like it. You really technically is manipulative. Yeah it's manipulative or manipulative bitchy. There's an old normal way so girls. Moral of the story is as embrace all those different characteristics within you embrace them all get to know each personality. Get comfortable comfortable with them. Choose your lineup. No way is your strongest. Goto or you really good at slutty Bitch Morris more as a bitch like that bitch for you. I know you're string right. You're stir.
