"Let's talk about Kevin Williams here now. What is going on in his life as all this is going down? Yeah, and the crazy thing is because of the fact that everybody knew the Vikings wanted to draft Ryan Sims the year before, they had overcorrected and decided to keep their first round pick a secret as possible. So they saw Kevin Williams, the defensive tackle at the senior bowl that year, and never talked to him again. Didn't talk to him at the combine, didn't talk to him at pro days, didn't try to do any interviews. They didn't want anyone to know that they had interest. That's how much they were trying to orchestrate their ability to draft him. And so Kevin Williams on draft day, you know, he figures he's going to be a top 15 pick as best as he and his agent can figure out, but he has no idea the Vikings have any interest in it at all. And in fact, he assumes they have none because they never really circled back with him out to the senior bowl. And so he's at a cookout outside his house in Arkansas and he's not really paying a ton of attention to the broadcast because usually when a team is going to draft you, they call you ahead of time and let you know and you start talking to the coach and the general manager and then finally you see it on TV that they've actually formally selected you. The first moment he had any idea something was happening. His brother's girlfriend starts screaming while she's watching a TV from the inside and they run in and what's wrong, what's wrong? Well, you just got drafted by the Vikings, and he's like, what? That's completely, you know, news to me. I didn't know that. Then his phone rings. And then he finds out that the Vikings had taken him at number 9, and he's happy and he really didn't know in real time at least any of this stuff had happened and he immediately goes to the airport and gets on a plane and flies to Minnesota, so he was one of the last people to find out the circumstances of his being drafted by the Vikings were almost unprecedented in the history of the NFL. And discredit, he said it really never bothered him. He never really thought that he needed an explanation or felt disrespected by the debacle as he called it. What about his money, though, because I feel like everyone who's listening to this is probably wondering, well, wait a second. How did that affect him financially? He was the 9th pick. The Vikings wanted him at number 7, but they weren't able to draft him there. And so The Rookie pay scale was different in those days and actually much more lucrative than it is now, but it's still was based on the spot in which you were drafted. And so he eventually got the 9th player money. If you compared it to what left witch got at number 7, it was a little bit different because he was a quarterback, but he probably would have had 3 million more dollars and assigning bonus alone if he had been the number 7 pick, but in terms of, you know, could he protest or could he file a grievance or anything along those lines? There really wasn't much recourse and he was just looking to move forward as well. And it all worked out in the end because he's a borderline Hall of Fame type player and even in the previous year when the snafu happened with the cowboys and Brian McKinney, you mentioned both pillars of the franchise in that particular era. So it all worked out in the end for them luckily for them. Yeah, they got the player they wanted as it turned out. They got them cheaper than they wanted when they finally did get Kevin Williams. There was this huge celebration in the draft room. They had all been sweating and very nervous and trying to figure out what was happening. But when they eventually got Kevin and there was official from the NFL, as Mike Tyson, we were in a very celebratory mood at that point. Okay, but regardless of all of that and they're celebration because they got their guy, I would imagine their fan base was probably mortified at everything they had seen transpire on television. So I'm guessing like most teams, they had a draft party or some sort of interaction with the fans. How did that go? Yeah, they had actually had a huge draft party that year because they had the number 7 pick when you're in the top ten, you can anticipate a really good player coming your way, maybe somebody you've heard a lot about in college football. So in their little indoor facility at their old practice place, if I had four or 5000 people there. And so the party was being sort of emceed by the radio announcer at the time and currently Paul Allen. And Paul Allen, in his mind, wanted to see the Vikings take Terrell suggs. And so he was leading the crowd in shears of suggs, suggs, suggs, and so they all had this anticipation that the Vikings were going to draft Terrell suggs there and we're going to get this great high end pass rushing prospect and that's a very exciting thing for any fan base. So when they missed the pick and other team starts jumping them, they kind of get quiet and are confused and as Paul Allen said many of them were inebriated at the time. And so it's the kind of what you would expect if you were at an actual game, I guess, and there was a run of mistakes. And so then they finally get up on the clock and instead of taking Terrell suggs, they take Kevin Williams. And so at that point, the place just went was like shaking in booze and anger and people throwing their memorabilia on the ground and storming out and all these kind of things that happened in that moment. So Mike tice is coming from the draft room in a very celebratory mood and is hoping to come into this draft party and pump up the fans, finds a very different environment when he walks in the door. Okay, so he walks in the door and how do these fans greet him? They let him have it. And in fact, both Paul Allen and Mike Tyson when I talk to them, remembered one sort of elderly woman in particular walking right up to him as he's coming up on the podium and the stage that they had set up and just dropping profanity on him and there's a famous clip. Audio clip that was recorded at that time, a tice is so taken aback. Okay. Okay, calm down. And that clip is still used here in Minnesota on their sports talk shows whenever people get too excited in their debates. And the takeaways of this story is that as funny as it sounds to us now and how crazy of a scene it sounds like it was at this draft party. It really cut deeply on a lot of the people who were involved in part because it was embarrassing, but in part because it happened for reasons that they couldn't really explain at the time. Well, the one thing you can't say publicly in those scenarios is, hey, our owner made us trade down because he's cheap. Yeah, exactly. And that sort of is the bottom line of the reporting I did and so it was well known that they were not operating on the same budget as a lot of other teams, but it was not known then that the owner had demanded it's a 100% that you have to trade down. You might trade down if you get a great offer or a player that you wanted ended up coming off the board or some other circumstance, but it's very rare that you go into it knowing that no matter what the circumstances are for financial reasons only you have to give up your spot. Let's just play a game here for a second. What would it be like if that happened today in 2023 with all those fail safes if someone got jumped today with social media and everything being brought to you instantaneously? How would that be reacted to? I think the draft would be burned down. I can't imagine that it wouldn't over it wouldn't overshadow everything that happened for the entire draft weekend that there would be investigations and Roger Goodell would have to have a press conference and everybody would be wondering if the NFL had tried to tilt the draft towards from one team to another. That was one thing that never came up at that point was the NFL playing favorites trying to help the ravens or hurt the Vikings and that's something we hear a lot more about nowadays, especially with the advent of gambling and all that sort of thing. So the NFL would have, they would almost certainly have to hire like a third party investigation to figure out what had happened and to prove to the public that there had been an honest mistake or an honest explanation as opposed to just kind of as they did 20 years ago letting the teams sort through it on their own. Kevin seaford will make sure to keep the phone lines clear tonight, so thanks for sharing your reporting with us today. Well, thanks for having me, George. I'm George sodano. This has been ESPN daily. I'll talk to you tomorrow.

"A guy in his late thirties very experienced still got it but he's been better than advertised and as much as i hear what. Steve is saying that you're a prisoner of the moment you're only looking at today. You're darn right. that's what i'm doing. I'm looking at right now and right now. If you said to me you got one game and you got to pick between bueller and sure zor without hesitation. I will take sherzer. The thing that steve is doing is and i understand it. It's this loyalty thing. i already know. Bueller he's been here. He's been part of the building process. He's been part of a world series team. So i understand the loyalty and love for bueller. Picking sherzer over bueller is not a knock on bueller. You understand what i'm saying. One hundred percent. I get what you're saying like but we live in this tribal world right now kaplan where it's like if you have you put any question out there of like eight verses be. It's like immediately. You go to being a hater. Laura was joking with you earlier about that like she. She doesn't mean when she says that at least now she's talking about the chargers and i am a hater true but you are self proclaimed. That's fine What i would add is this is that this is where we live in it. You know it's just very tribal versus be on team. May you suck because you're on team and it. Just i hate that world that we're in at the moment but to your point that's the case now. I will say this in this regard. I'm with john. Ireland max. Scherzer has a look first of all. Give me the guy with more experience in those situations. Top of the fact that he's been really good he's a hundred and twelve innings pitched in the postseason. That's pretty damn impressive. And again he's won the world series and he's also been a three-times cy young award winner doesn't knock on walker. Bueller both are great. But that's that's a luxury if you're the dodgers you get to pick from one of those two guys right right. If you had. Joe montana. And steve young and you said well you know what i prefer steve young. I think he should be the starter. He's more mobile. I like that. He's left handed. I mean if you came up with a whole bunch of things. It's not necessarily because you don't like joe who's already banked for super bowls for it. Just that at this moment in time. I think this player is better for this situation and again for me. I'm with dave. Roberts max scherzer has been better for the dodgers than what he was advertised. As before he became a dodger. We all knew he was really good in washington but come on everybody where we really all paying attention to washington nationals baseball. Every night. I but come on man. If you like baseball you know how good match sure horse. But my point is better than advertised. Meaning we knew he was good and we knew what his reputation was but now that we watch him pitch every day. You have different correct. Exactly thank you. You're welcome. I mean the way you interpreted what i was trying to say. I would blast on for like fifteen minutes if you didn't shorten it down to thirty seconds. Nice work at george sodano. That's what i do. I feel like i am. The kaplan whispered into just like boom. Get it very simply coming up next if you saw we talked. Ucla yesterday way. Find out why we're talking about them next. We're back in two minutes and seventeen seconds. All come on now lindsey. Don't tell me you know this song i mean. Of course. I know this song i had to ask now. Tony tony tony. You didn't know it feels good. I feel like. I need to ask these questions being like back in the time when he songs popular. I was probably like at usa skates roller skating rink skating around in like elementary school. Tony tony tony. I guess it probably just wasn't big out here just that one. It's fine it's fine. I mean this one is this one also released the same year. So that's why i'm asking. What was the last time. You're on roller skates. Everybody oh i can tell you that. The last time. I was on roller skates roller blades. Not in line. i'm talking. oh okay. that's different i. I took my kids to a roller skating rink when she was really little so probably like four years ago. If i had you still you still got still got the juice man. Decent roller skater. Like i'm not. I don't i go backwards anymore like. I don't think i'm good enough to do that. At this stage in my life but i mean i could go forward and start and stop and do all that stuff. I just need to go around the rink once or twice and then get the feel for it again and then i'm good same thing with ice skating. I took my kid ice skating ones. My oldest is getting ones. And and i felt great like honestly i was more like she was so afraid the first time out because she was so little that eventually i just said you know what i want to enjoy this for a second myself. Mom was with me. She was visiting at the time. You wanna stay with grandma for a little while that goes around the rink interest. Sure and i did my own thing for like five or ten minutes. That would be a great radio station promotion if we did like a throwback night at a roller skating rink and we'd like all eighties music nine and everybody came in look into roller skate. 'cause i haven't been on skates in a long time but as you know george. I'm probably a little too overconfident for my own. Good yes i believe. I could get on skates. And i'd be the same guy i was when i was thirteen years old. I feel like. I still got the same moves muscle memory baby. Maybe maybe i don't. I don't know i. It does take me a little bit. I need to go around a couple of times. And then i can more confident now. Speaking of overconfident. At ron and the lsu tigers definitely overconfident coming in to the rose bowl the other day and he had the whole thing that was caught on video where he said to the guy. You guys are gonna lock you upright because the issue and then this dates back to when he was at usc that's when he said he said this. Here's a direct quote. He said george. I gave that like what he says. He blue shirt off cinci boot and.

"In mason ireland for a minute today just to kind of get a sense of what they're talking about but generally i'm in the car. I'm pounding music me. I'm gonna talk radio listener all day long. I mean i'm listening to seven ten on popping around to see what else everybody else is talking about. I don't care about anybody else's talking about seriously. So here's what i would tell you. And this is like super inside radio. And i'm curious to hear what lindsay and laura field about this to the longer i've done this. The lesson less. I actually listened to other talk. Radio shows because i don't you know again. I look into our station. Because i want again. I wanna peek in and get a glimpse of what travis travesty. We're talking about what mason ireland and talking about. I'm i'm really going to be up to listen to kishan in the morning with maxon and jay. That's at least then the car right. That's not not gonna happen very often now. If i was i was totally. Listen to them because again. My point is i want. I want to get a peek for what it is that they're listening to. But i've done it less and less captain why because i don't want someone else to cloud in my thoughts on what the hell i want to talk about. I want to come into the show and say this is what i want to talk about and i hope the audience enjoys it. Because i'm going to talk about it with you and you're going to talk about it with me in a passionate way. We're we're all going to get into this together. Yeah i was listening to Quite a bit of mason in ireland today. Oh my god. George hold on just hold on. I'm calling an official sodano and cap. Timeout you have no idea what just happened here. I don't know if watching the dodgers at this moment but pools is back in saint. Louis right comes up in the first inning. They all stand and give him an ovation right. I mean th the catcher from a home run. He hit a home run hits. I'm just watching first-inning. Oh my god. That's incredible that is amazing. What a story man. What a story the angels are paying albert pu hoses salary so that he can go in a dodger uniform back to saint louis and crank a home way to go uncle al and his seventeenth of the which i believe is eleventh in a dodger uniform. This season if i recall correctly what story man. What a story it is. it's awesome. it's all that is a great story. People are still standing. I think they want to give them a curtain goal. It looks like but yeah. Here's the deal man. Oh okay no no go back to back here for a second. He's at the warning track. Okay okay okay. So anyway what we were. Let's talk about the dodgers real quick since they are up one. Nothing and we'll keep you up to date on what's going on during the game as as cap mentioned albert pools in a bomb after a standing o. From his original fan base. The saint louis cardinals. But i think the dodgers kinda screwed up the giants thing a little bit the way they set up their rotation. They decided to set it up where they had bueller. But they could have had shir zor and buehler pitch in this series and it didn't work out that way because of the way. They handled the brave series. I heard mason ireland. Actually talking about this. With greg and greg was trying to make the case that this was the right move because the braves of the better team which look i get on paper. The braves are probably the better team. But here's what. I would say greg bergman or any dodger fan at this point and cap. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. You gotta get over this thing that the giants on paper aren't as good as some of these other teams. The giants are the best team in the national league by record. And you have to just understand that and the dodgers. I can beat them in a series. But i sure as hell don't want to see them in a one game scenario which could happen for the division or the now the fact because they screwed up the rotation and. I'm normally not a guy that criticizes dave okay like i am. You know meek app you. And i are team dave roberts. Okay but i really feel like this was a little bit of mismanagement now. Do i think in the long run. It may not be a big deal because they could still win the division yes. they've made. They've caught them. Which is i didn't expect for that to happen. However we got to get over this. The braves are the better teams. We need to know greg. That's wrong okay. The giants are clearly the better team this season. So i'm going to say this to you. George i disagree in this way when they were playing atlanta they were still as i recall two games. Be hatching san francisco giants. They were still two games behind san francisco. San francisco wound up going on a streak where they lost four out of five five out of six something like that. And they lost the first three against milwaukee in that series before they played the dodgers for me. My opinion was you stay with your rotation because instead of worrying about the three games coming up. I'm worrying about the three games that are sitting in front of me right now. Now look you can say that. They screwed up. Because they lost that series to the giants. But let me just remind you against the for the first game that they lost. They scored two runs in the second game that they lost. They scored one run and in the third game that they lost. They scored four runs but they scored two runs until the top of the ninth inning. They the offense and the bats were not what they had been prior to going to san francisco and by the way san francisco was was really i mean they they were using bullpen days for the last two games so to me i would put more of it on the offensive side of the dodgers and less on the manager and his decision for the pitching rotation. That's my opinion. Okay fair enough you know what. Let's tackle that on the other side. Get people's thoughts on it. Also i wanna get into the uc aspect of all this ucla love. That's happening locally and nationally. We'll get to some of that coming up. I've got some raiders and rams stuff that we're going to dive into in the next hour. Oh and yeah. Of course people are talking smack about lebron and the lakers so stick around. Don't go anywhere it's sodano and cap lindsay's hanging out with us now. She's the producer of the show lowered as here seven ten. Espn back in..

"The next one. So here's a really weird one for you guys. The manager of a mcdonald's franchise in. Canada has revealed the story behind grimace the purple pal of longtime mascot ronald mcdonald. And it's left a lot of people very confused. Brian bates who's worked for mcdonald's for ten years casually dropped it into an interview with cbc news over the weekend quote. He has an enormous taste. But but it taste bud. Nonetheless page told the network in an unofficial explanation adding that the character was meant to show that food tastes. Good is the fact that grimace is actually a giant taste. Bud a big deal or no deal sodano. I think it's a big deal. I never knew what the hell he was. So i mean the fact that we finally get this reveal whatever i want fifty years later. Whatever the hell. I think it's fascinating so i've always wondered Whenever he popped up somewhere. I thought maybe it was some sort of blobby. Dinosaur thing cartoon thing but a taste but kind of makes more sense. Now i'm gonna go the opposite direction. Here lindsey and say no deal. And here's why i had to look up. The definition of the word grimace an ugly twisted expression on a person's face typically expressing disgust. Pain or ryan amusement. Okay so that. If you're a taste bud. And i grimace after biting into a big mac. That doesn't sound. Like i'm making a big smiley face. I'm i hate to be like so overly cynical all the damn time. But i'm not really sure i'm buying that this guy knows what he's talking about. Because how could grimsby a character at mcdonald's for all these years and none of us have ever heard this before. He's just a big purple thing that hangs out with donald mcdonald and the hamburgers. If that's the world that you wanna live in then go for it. But i believe that. He's a giant taste. Bud and i'm super creeped out by it. I don't know man. I mean now that. I look at him looking at them here i mean he does kind of look like a taste. Bud l. e. looks exactly like a taste but yes there's like a zoom in on a taste. There's all kinds of tweets out there about the everyone else's dumbfounded by two. It looks exactly like a taste. Bud i don't know what's the more interesting story in the last couple of weeks. The taste bud grimace guy or the mcflurry machine being investigated by the federal government. What's going on in. Yeah i told you they. On purpose they stay in the news. No they do it for supply and demand. I used to work in mcdonald's so if they say it's not working you're gonna wanna come back. I am looking at a taste. Bud here up close on goldline. Yeah he looks round like taste. Dan guys shouldn't be fired. There's certain things when you work in mcdonalds you just don't talk about right. Some things have to stay in the locker room. Yeah all right. We're done here..

"Who's pad when this song came out. Now i love the album. But i like the song i remember the song coming out and thinking to myself. It's pretty bad. And i meant that bad in a good way. Obviously not bad but bad meaning good. Yeah i was ten years old when this song came. Laura song is older than you. I'm thirty three this song older than you to The the me by a little bit. Yeah i don't know how it happened george and it sucks. Let me tell you something that it may happen. Being older in your career not being happens all the time not being old but becoming the oldest person around like if i were working on mason in ireland. I'd still be the young guy. You would be the young guy right but but now that i'm working saying you wanna trade. Is that what you wanna traits. No more but if i were working on mason ireland like hey kaplan where you alive. When bad came out. And i'd be like yeah fell. I was a young guy. But you see now. I've become in this organization in this show in particular. I've become the old guy as a matter of fact while you're on vacation we did a live remote. Hollywood park casino amanda. Our boss took this great picture with everybody. Who is there was in this picture. And i looked at the picture and i went. Oh my god. I'm still devilishly handsome. Needless to say however ryan the old guy of the group. You are. Welcome to reality socks. you aren't not fun. No i used to hang around with a group of older guys and they used to tease me. That i was so much by far and away. The younger guy. And i was like that's awesome. I love that. So are you telling us you're going through a midlife crisis is exactly because not exactly. I mean perhaps partially but not exactly but you hold on. Hold on hold on before. I do that because i do want to get to your ucla thing. Because i want to pay that off. Now let me ask the ladies lindsey. Does it sound like kaplan started with no but then when to not exactly do you believe he's going through a midlife crisis on the air as we speak. I don't think he's going through a midlife crisis. I think he's just starting to question. Maybe question is place in the world as far as the elbow. That's not a crisis. Like an overreaction. Like oh my god i'm old help me please. I need to bought. And that's what it sounded like what he was. Just doing well cap. We'll make you feel young. Well i feel young. And i feel like i look young. Okay but but reality has struck and the reality is when i looked at that picture. Sodano wasn't there and he's about seven years younger than i am. Key was there because he doesn't like to go by keyshawn but key was there and he's only just a couple years younger than i am. That's a good thing that he lets you. Call him key a thing. I call them keyshawn and about bit my head off. He's like my name. He's sean it's dog. I thought it was keyshawn. Sorry my be so wait. Let me say you really hold on hold on did you really say might be. He's trying hard to ban. Sorry that's just something i know. It's okay i was gonna say the fact that you recognize. It is so so much like a million times better than you being in. Denial and be completely delusional. Take it from me. I know somebody like that. And it's fun and know. I'm not going to go down that path. Oh i would. I mean that's on you know what i'm not gonna stop you. I'm not going through a midlife crisis george. I haven't bought a car. That's ridiculously expensive and showy. So when i for you when i show up girl i get out of the cars. Like look at him. I wonder what's going on with that. Don't do that don't do and i can't let you do that. Thank you man. I appreciate that. I'm just saying that i'm i'm under the. I'm dealing with the reality. That when i look around the rest of the radio station i've become a senior member of the staff whereas all along. I was younger when i was twenty. Nine thirty i looked up to the guys that were fifty fifty five. Now i'm becoming a guy who's in his fifties and i'm like. How did this happen so fast. That thanks bro. Yeah so anyway. Real quick we were just talking. I want to get the dodgers real quick. But let's finish up the ucla conversation so we were talking about You were talking about a critical thing right. I think a calculated risk was raised. Here was the calculated risk by ucla. And this is why a week and a half ago. I called the calculated risk risk desperation. And why today. I will refer to the exact same calculated risk as brilliant. Here's what right when you give away tickets for free because.

Hold on hold on before we do anything else. Wow i don't know share hold on. I don't know if the audience heard would just happen but literally in our ear. It was like a freaking lightsaber. Went right through my head. Okay in star wars. And i'm still hearing like robotic like sounds from some of you occasionally what happened. There is again. We figured out what the issues i wasn't playing anything. My wide orbit machine back here. Apparently when it goes onto the board makes that noise. So what. It's it's very technical thing. Basically a computer that runs the commercials and things of that iraq. So there's one yours on because because we're gonna play the feud i was gonna play the x. Sound effect in the bed and the correct sound effects. Guy should have heard by yes. Oh i don't ever do that again. Because i don't have a left your right and my left ear. Also blown out hap- keeper title. He was supposed to be the big killing. You come and you take that to. I didn't even do anything. Not only did you do it. You came off the top rope. Okay and i'm still hearing myself. Roselle messed up. What are you doing down now on me i. We were testing to see if we would change stuff. It would fix it. And it doesn't mean. I love legitimately will never hear ever again again. I agree. You're right because yes thank you greg. I'm now i it's gonna be. Jsp amazing thing about this is. I didn't even do anything anything. I didn't do nothing. Nobody pressed anything me. Yes this is very important guys because yesterday when we were talking about what game show we would all want beyond it ultimately into the s. l. k. Show against the mason in ireland. Show bergman somehow put on mason in ireland. We traded morales and we brought bergman home now. A lot of the espn seven. Ten listener said they thought mason and ireland would kick s. l. ks ass in in a game of family feud and i say no chance. I say we win this thing easily. Well let's practice the stu it all right. I'm going to name some things for you. There's top seven answers are on the board. And that's going to go in order so we're gonna start with an order of the name of the show so sodano l z kaplan and then laura. Okay right so name of fruit. You might eat in morning sodano orange. Orange is correct that that is number of number five. Yeah yeah you're supposed to say i missed. I was like i was getting their georgia to get the board. l. z. Banana bananas the number one answer. Nice l. every morning. Nice like an actual banana kaplan name fruits. You might eat in the morning. okay. I'm gonna go with a grapefruit. Steve grapefruit is the number to answer on nicely. Done was terrified. You'd get this wrong five me. high five me laura. Apple apple is the number four answer on the job so we got one more. We got one more. No you have a couple more numbers three on the board top seven answers on the board. Why are we doing seven. We five over. There's three more answers that you can get way way way we do. They don't they know stops seven. Seven answers are on the board earlier in booze. You don't even know the rules. That's not true. I have seen the top five in it. Depends on the round. this is around. They have more answers. The later rounds to of the ants. Are you gonna argue with steve harvey when we get on the show. I'm not arguing. Steve armorial greg. The number three five and seven answers are still available for you. So is the name of fruit simply. Just ask name of fruit. You might eat in the morning. Okay all right so we have banana groves. let's say raspberry right. Oh one yeltsin's got two more left all right. L z mellon melons. Goumelon is on the board that has number six okay all right mason and ireland looking at try and steal here. We got one strike. I'm gonna go steve with a strawberry. Strawberry steve. Strawberry strawberry is on the board number three one two three four five and six. Only one answer left laura with two strikes left one strike wave. One shot you have to. Did you just say we had one left. You have two strikes left. You've got into one wrong. George over one wrong. You have to strikes left fracture meaning. Okay yeah no no no. I'm not saying strikes left. I'm saying you said we only had one more answer left. He said which numbers were left on three five. Three five and seven. Then you got two of them and now you only have one left wing for sending right. Laura nina fruit. You might eat in the morning. You represent your gender no question. Why are you doing that. Grapes grapes are not on the board. That's a good. What so last one sodano for the sweep the name of fruit. you might eat in the morning donna. We need you here. Man about a blueberry. Yes no that is not on the board. The final answer. Peach was the board in the morning out of one hundred one hundred responses to people said and all those people george algo we saw. We still don't want because mason and ireland would have had the chance to steal and they wouldn't have gotten peach. Yeah exactly so. That was a pretty good rehearsal. We should probably do this more. During course at a shell. Shopping art skills and grapes. I felt like it was a good answer to have a good answer. Good answer no food. Review that blueberries a very slow areas. Blueberries raspberries are the berry. Family is very big in the morning. I i would have thought the blueberries in the in the cereal or oatmeal would have gone you over the hump but Apparently there are people eating peaches. We are going to be rewarding. Never never done that. George you can have peaches anytime. i do. Get my pizzas from georgia..

"Gets to remember like we did just not win a championship. Here in la. I just don't understand where all this animosity is coming from. And to be honest it's like you know who really is is going to be. Anthony davis the guy that can't say on the court all the time like sandwich guy coming from and we've seen davis can do when he's by himself When he was with the pelicans i mean. Ac at best and you know always hurt in and couldn't get out of first round. I'm trying to figure out what angle here and you know. You're talking about one of the greatest players ever so the one thing i do understand is if you're a kobe thing you gotta understand that. There was a lot of animosity between the bron- and kobe fans and they already crowned him as the greatest before he even won championships. Pretty crazy but now he has five. And it's kinda like come on man. This guy. thirty six just came off a high ankle sprain. High ankle sprain takes most athletes three to six months to recover from. This guy. Came back in like three weeks like he is an animal. Like isn't guy serious right now. This is not even debatable. And my thing. Josh thank you for the call would be in plsy and cap. Dra member what it looked. Like around here for the lakers. Before lebron i do wasn't really bad. Historically bad wasn't pretty it was historic. Like if that's not a take that is the actual quantitative way of characterizing the previous six seasons historically bad and then he comes over and there's a glimmer before he slips and hurts his growing at the point in which we were blowing up the golden say words on their home floor and we were currently in the top four seed in the league in the west. He gets hurt. Things fall apart next season. Do some tweaks obviously a dis a huge benefit. We gave up a lot of youth. Bhagat a youthful nice. Big man wins a chip next year. The quickest turnaround in nba history the quiz turner. People keep forgetting that part. We're like going. You couldn't beat the signs. The signs did nate. The postseason man. Yep let alone stuck around all the way to a december what are we doing. what are we doing. we're sitting here and we're demanding things from lebron. I'm i'm not even bringing in the thirty six zero things that's not even relevant to me. That's not relevant to me was relevant. To me is where the night he's healthy. What has he done in his time. Here is a laker and he has basically had a start. That is very similar to the start. That magic johnson had a laker which is a championship and then a first round exit. Is that not what happened in aiding eighty-one So i'm just sort of like i'm not saying that he's going to go on and win. Four more ships as a laker. I'm not saying that he was the plant manager. I'm not saying that at all. What i'm saying is is that there are not a lot of people who arrived to a team and gives you a championship in their second year. Just not in any sport. Yeah so what what. We got was somewhat of an anomaly in a miracle. But we're discarding it because he's not koby were discarding it because he calls himself king jordan. What he did last year what he did in the bubble. That doesn't happen often. The last person to do it was him. Think there's also. And i know george. You wanna hit this break. This speaks to the expectation of the fan base. We can go deeper. But this is about the expectation of an organization's fan base. Okay let let's continue this discussion on the other side. We've got a full board of people that want to talk about this. So eight seven seven seven ten years on aboard eight seven seven seven three seven seven six. 'cause i knew we'd get to this intersection. Okay where people are going to blame. Lebron which is wild to me. But let's do it. Let's have the conversation eight seven seven seven. Spn we also gonna play. Would you rather on the other side. We're supposed to thirty but because we had to hit the ejection. Break the break real quick because of james and la said earlier we needed to have we. We need to have a conversation we needed to put pull the break and have a conversation. So we're going to be back in two and a half minutes. All right gregory. Let's start with you. Sodano tim hardaway. Junior really took a step forward. This year gary payton. Junior didn't really last in the league. Ron harper junior put his name into the nba draft. Just yesterday two of these people. To of the two of these most people wouldn't even know who they were without their name. So in your chosen field. Would you rather be a famous german or pave. Your own path rather pay my own path. It's why i didn't name know i. I didn't want to name my son. I mean i'm named after my father. But i i also i feel like i paid my you know. My whole thing is to pay my own path because like for example. I'll give you an reason. People always ask me why. I go by george right or not hood. Hey on a more regular basis. And i always say you can call me. Whatever i don't really. It doesn't make a difference to me but my dad's specifically when he came to this country was like. I want you to be george because i want people to know that you're american like you're born here like he took a sense of pride like he wanted you like like in his mind. I guess it was. You know when he was alive there was like i want. You have like don't have the issues. Perhaps an immigrant would have even though. Your name is spelled hood. Hey we want you to go by george so people can know that my mom literally just made it easy. Because she's like well. I'm just going to george just because your bull hotel so it was a lot easier unless i was gonna call you. What heat though all the time. And i know that would probably bother you after a while so we switched to george so anyway. That's a long way to go around to tell you that i would rather pay my own path. It's why i also need my son matteo and not george norte camel. Anybody else that was that was Yeah i mean. I i had to re- recalibrate for a moment. I'm a pave my own path guide to. I've seen guys who are juniors who have these great expectations. I played college ball with a guy named anthony door set junior his dad was tony dorsett man. This kid couldn't win no matter what he did. You know how. I saw dan. Marino's kids you know. Never really become the sports heroes. Are joe montana's kids. I always thought that that kind of was a an expectation that most kids could never live up to some pave my own path sorta guy with my own story but l. What about you man. I think it all depends on who the senior is before you decide. If you wanna be clear right is that really your call. per se. But if you're if you did have a call on it. Yes i mean. Isn't it though premise. You know it. Would you rather so i would rather know who their senior is greg before i hitch my wagon to next question greg go ahead. Just forget you're not going to have an answer for that or rebuttal high. L. z Bought by hanson hit number one in the uk singles chart this week so have a one hit wonder that lives forever or a band that last a little while but never has a hit song. For instance if hansen was one of the seniors are be a one one. I would much rather be in a band that lasts forever. It can also play festival evening my eighties. I would much rather be the one hit. Wonder then. just be abandoned meanders and doesn't really have any real success now. I think i'm gonna go with being that mid range band that even still to this day. Twenty five thirty years past your prime when you were still only a c..

"He's an incredibly frustrating horse because the talent is there You know it's there you know the the the ability is is there for all to see and it's just like can he put it together like easy capable of being able to to To actually get it together again. 'cause like we went through this last year with japan and it was excuse after excuse after excuse And we're now when we did. The stable toured the start of the season. The plan was the prince of wales stakes. And they're going to go to do by. I think we spoke to aden after he'd run in may dan and they were. They were pleased with that run. They didn't have an issue with the fact that he was beaten there in the slightest bit. it was to all about getting a bit of sun and he's back in and bringing them forward but now he's been beaten on his next start and he's finished completely last here He was the only in stride. And and maybe maybe because of that once shaming new. The game is up he He gave up on him The was late money for him. He opened fifteen to went off. Thirteen to two But ryan chose japan and he's ended up being beaten seven lengths as well. So where do you stand on both of these horses then. I think japan looks as good as he was which is a shame to say. Because i'm look back at that just Race that he won't come back into groups free and even then he probably arguable not with more authority than he actually did. I think true shannon comes out of that with a lot of credit. Yeah would you go that way instead trump. now that could be. Because that's true sean. For the gold cup. maybe. I'm maybe i'm slightly biased. They're just ever so slightly biased. i i was. I was quite amazed that japan one didn't expect him to win. I imagine so. I i was giving a little bit more respect but They're both races the same and it was only three quarters of a length in at the at the end. But yeah you're right about the rest in behind like the rest of behind warrant grace put your overall take on. This is that he's just on the downgrade now. The way the timing. I wouldn't be decided next time out. Put it that way at least steady. Anyway yeah i just as you say we gave him. How many excuse this season and seventeen did you lose. Did he lose his shoes. And the king. George and i mean that was yeah. Excuse after excuse. But i just think and even in that yesterday food reappearance star sodano laden's weren't necessarily fire fest. I'm out so ye. He was almost given an extra boost because of that fact when actually that would have been on. The hugely shops like patricia. five rochester. the return again is he just in a stay on on track. That would shoot him. Also or by three cody. You know. it's tricky to way out. But the way that he shaped head throughout this race think he had any excuses here absence on that basis. I really like those eight saying that. Because he was he was a stall then in its rewrote season. But i just wanted to know if he's not as good as he was that i was there. Luckily enough before the world came to a standstill Looking to be in parallel long show for His grumpy departure you and and She gets to meet long which was fantastic and and he was. He was brilliant and he was. He was deadly in in the months as well You know particularly the fact the coup more supplemented him for the race that day And he's blind during the arc. He's only beaten four lengths by volk is so there was a lot of of expectation and he comes up and wins and i think my my reading of it was particularly when roy moore was on boredom choosing him over magical in the champagne stakes remember. We were previewing. The rice and the declarations came through a who again. This is outfit starting credentials. We thought about the those kind of implications and that. That's what i think. He speculated on also fifty percents of the horse was bought by a mr matuyama net. Yeah that was it that rumble tonight. Yeah yeah it was. It was so who knows who knows the for if he's going to bounce back. Who knows if mogul will bounce back The interesting thing is cool more. Keep buying this family not not to teach. That's that's christ like Here we go. How do you pronounce this. This mayor's name Showcased shots yeah shots chest chest. Yeah i guess i just. It's a shame. Got a clue so she was bought for six hundred and twenty-five thousand guineas that was back in two thousand and five. What a great purchase for bloody great purchase. Because since then here we go since then secret gesture was sold for two hundred thirty thousand. That's fine mar mearns. Three hundred and twenty thousand euro We have Ship it for three hundred and fifty thousand euro. Here's where it gets interesting secret. Soul eight hundred thousand guineas japan one point three million guineas horse that was unraced. One point three five million guineas.

"Because you deserve what's right. Laura hit the music. Greg go all right. L z. this just happened about forty five seconds. Ago cody bellinger. Just hit a grand slam. Eleven to one in the first inning. Why is this a big deal or now oh out is a big deal. You also has six is in the inning. Damn south by himself. And mookie betts has two hits. Wow that's that's probably as one. What's what's the record for most runs in one in one inning. I can look at. It's twenty two most runs in the first sitting. Let's try that see. What do you think i'm gonna go. Seventeen seventeen most runs in the first inning. They actually tied the record. It is eleven. Actually they said that same one in the nfc game three win. It's eighteen for any inning for the first step. I would say that this is a somewhat big deal. Bellinger needs to get back and really really get back to who he was and the dodgers since this giant series this past weekend having losing having lost three out of four and then now you know split right now with with the cardinals and last night was a really spectacular finish. Because i'm sure you guys saw mookie. Betts hit this laser down the left field line and it was caught right at the wall. Man it was a spectacular catch by o'neill and so you know they gotta get and back to who he was or who he really is because they're kind of fortunate right now. The dodgers are because the team chasing or the team. They're battling with the padres. Also losing a bunch of games right now and san francisco's back on top. They need bellinger. Yeah look dude. I mean first of all he is a big part of what they do so to have him healthy and hitting the ball and hit out of the yard gain. Six rpm is in one anything to get him going and get them going in the right direction consistently i think is a big deal so all right. What's next greg onto the next one right Capital start with you damian. Lillard last night sets record for three pointers in a playoff game last night. With twelve passing klay thompson. Is this a big deal or no deal. So i'm gonna say it's no deal. It was a spectacular individual performance and it was a very very entertaining. Game that went deep into double overtime. But i gotta just say no deal because it's in a losing effort. Now i'm not putting it on damian lillard. It was a spectacular individual performance. In fact even late in the game you know. I was watching last night george. I was watching sports center. I saw you on sportscenter. Neil evert said you know he got tired you know. He passed the ball. He gassed. i would think so. You know i just thought to myself. What an individual performance. It's unfortunate that it comes in a loss. So i'm choosing to go no deal. I'm going to say big deal. Only for this reason. It was a historic performance. He is the only player in nba playoff history to score fifty five points and have tennis in a loss. The only player in nba history to have that happen. So i'm gonna say big deal just based on that although it is weird l. z and. I'm curious your thoughts on it that you know. He's so clutch and so big in the big moments. That losing doesn't stick to him. The only guy that i can think of that is reggie miller and this is a huge deal Not just because of individual performance but as an extension of an individual's legend when it's all said and done he's always going to be in the hall of fame and he may or may not enter the championship. Who knows but since the first year he was in his league. He's been that dude and time and time again and he keeps showing up as that. Do that doesn't mean that he doesn't put up stinkers he does but to georgia's points we don't remember the stinkers because a nights like last night so at an amazing and it's a shame that there are years in which he has the bag to be on the all star team is crazy and i beg to get anybody to play with them. You know what. I'm saying like his. Gm has done him no No you know. Done them a disservice. I think they can't get anybody to play there with those rain along portland it does sure. That's a factor. Perhaps son is good. L z the oakland a.'s. Organization has some explaining to do pictures surfaced of what they feed their minor league affiliate including a white bread sandwich with no protein. And we'll look to be like a slice of american cheese and another picture showed a taco with a barely filled tortilla chicken and some peppers right. And that was. It is a big deal or no deal. This is a huge deal man like we already knew that major league baseball was treating may minor league baseball players trash based upon the compensation so we already knew but i didn't think it was this. This is almost as bad as a wnba. In the bubble having broken down showers and stuff with the league booked them with or the women's remember the weight as the gem. Right like is that level bad. This is ridiculous when you have players in the majors who literally make more than your entire collection of players in the minors. Then that's a problem. Yeah as a problem and this is not even food man. I'll you know what the call this is. You know what this is this pickles and pineapples. That's what this is. It's pretty terrible. I mean i looked at it. And i thought i thought the coleslaw looks pretty good but i mean i was like you know what the oakland as are known for being one of the cheapest organizations and people don't look at it that way they go. No they're resourceful. They have found ways to win without spending money and in reality not taking care of your minor leaguers. The guys that are supposed to eventually be your major leaguers as a major problem and then getting outed on at all. I mean is really an ugly. Look and you're right. Els people don't really know the dirty little secret of how rough life can be in the minor leagues. Oh it's awful. It's awful especially juxtaposed get it. You're in the minors. You're you're working your way up you try but you shouldn't have to also need to be onlyfans. Page noted get to rent paid Come on did you dump it. UCL Shock-tar for Real Madrid
"Start, we don meltdown in Madrid thaw shocked shocked by we'd be so good and Writers. Joining us is Alex Kirkland Alex. Let's get right into it. What happened. I mean what happened was a disastrous five minutes of POCO from. Real. Madrid that I saw from them was one of the worst. I can remember to be honest it was a defensive horror show off against the shack talk team who let's not forget what may say six first choice players and a number of substitute says well, row without second reynolds the CAP team at it was just they fell off the conceding that I go they went completely to pieces gossamer spend back in the second off and pulled it back to three to lake your ruled out but that one make any once again just how bad they were in that I just bad. The. Made. Some big decisions with a view towards the classical at the weekend. He leaves out and he got lauded for leaving out crews and Ben's. Alex, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt a tiny bit because I say, Hey, it shocked are minus six. You're at home you're motivated because you had a stinker last week and against God and deserve to lose. Maybe this is a Good Game Benza and crows today off right. The problem is when Bensimon doesn't play the team, just don't function in attack a loop. Yovich again, last night he had one pray tame header on saw and that was the throughout the day and he was. As. Roma, chasing the comeback which tells you everything you need to know cross you could understand may be giving him a a great by the problem is with Raimondo ready missing can you really leave out these other subpoenas if the of the team nine know the Ramos isn't always a nice consistent defend that but you have to heat has been that he's got a slight meet problems. He wouldn't have let the game just get away from the way didn't stop and the this. I mean Rafael Veran. Dreadful and this is the session dreadful Champions League game in a row for him because let's not forget he was to blame but both goals they began. In the summer alongside etta mealy Tout Stewart looks nothing like being worth fifty million euros around with Chip Light Volume Marcello I love Marcelo it to be honest like. An ex player he kind of jumped the shark awhile ago. s the Monday was laid out. Position was appropriate. You want to go away with any any credit on the right hand side courtois, dot them out of trouble a couple times it wasn't just the tall maitree chances and took them. Three one on ones the coach manager save over the course of the nineteen minutes. So it could have been even worse I mean less season they lost. The game of the Champions League in Paris they had a really rocky start. This is didn't. On yeah, they came back. They weren't playing Schachter. Owner but let me finish this. Season so I don't think. A rocky a shaky start like this one is anything new for Sodano, for the club however I you Janis making mistakes I think the players only are not up to the task mentally physically and technically as a group not forget didn't sign anyone in the summer. A few of the players left Bahamas pressure is really under Alex because he's done of course and everything that he's achieved as a player and manager that club is huge but that's two defeats in a row obese two different competition, and then the classic the weekend will happen if they lose is three in a row. Or do you still think that still has enough credit in the bank to two last regardless of what happens on the weekend? Of course, he's calling credit in the bank. He's got more credit than anyone because what you've done by do you think he doesn't situation is somewhat unique because even though he's won two titles as a coach, even though you on those three genders lease in a row, there are still some nagging questions I think and legitimate questions about aspects of of the jump that he does and some people and least includes people at the club at Rome Madrid at the. Question exactly how good coaches to spy everything that he's not in terms of trophies one I don't think there's any risk of him being sacked in the short sample, but we'd see Dan would say is that you can never entirely ruled out the rescue him deciding to walk away if things aren't going well, and if he feels like he's not the right man for the joke is surprised when away lost time having just wonder champion slate a milk expect that to happen right now by. Signing the we can discount entirely. This is very different. Coach doesn't necessarily need you get. He doesn't need it in the same way that other coaches to. Feels like I say he's not the right map for the talk. If you will I I completely agree that he would walk like getting say like Oh goodness can go I mean. Again he said like tomorrow is GonNa be Sunny. Who who can come up with you feel I listen I would point out that when he walked away last time, it's because two of his superstars neither films there anymore both of through. Hissy, fits through toys out of the Pram after the game and he said I. Have enough of that.
Report: Redskins' minority owners threaten to sell
"So the big debate was going on this weekend about. The Washington football team right and their new nickname, so if you don't know what's happening, the Washington redskins are probably going to change their name Adam schefter reporting that Fedex basically said all right enough is enough. Three of the minority owners which own forty percent of the team had told Daniel Snyder. They're out if he doesn't do it Nike has put pressure on them, so it's now happening. Ron, Rivera has finally put some pressure on them and by the way all the stuff. Did you see what Jeanie Buss tweeted about this greg? Now what she's saying. She was on July second, so it was right before the weekend and I re tweeted it for those that didn't get a chance to see as you can. you can see it at Sodano. And I thought. She made an unbelievably compelling argument. I thought it was fantastic on her part. It was talking about at the time. Nike and Fedex and Pepsi. Ties with Washington. And, she wrote the argument I've heard. is about the argument for keeping the name? Quote if we changed the team's name. We lose our history. My reply, and by the way she's right. That's what most people are saying. which is kind of silly, but I thought she surmised they're perfectly. Jeanie, said my reply. It's human beings. She writes in capital letters who created the memories and won the game's not a logo. She wrote in caps. A change in name will not alter what art monk Dexter. Manley Darryl. Cheriss May & Idris T Solomon
"Thanks for doing this guys for the last couple of weeks I have been thinking about what role I. wanted the show to play in terms of the dialogue that's happening. With this and I thought it was better than me. Sort of giving voice to it myself that it be a much better to have a dialogue with people is one of the things. I was realizing over the last two weeks outside of my own house. Old I really haven't discussed this stuff in. You know my wife and I have talked about how `bout it, but I really hadn't. Beyond that really. Considered? What kind of conversations I? I would want to have with people outside of my own home. My own faith and I think it is important dialogue to have especially. Amongst photographers photography are actually documenting. What's happening right now, but it will also lived the experience of being. Covering this. Just, just briefly I I experienced the LA riots back in I think it was ninety to ninety one. And one of the things and I grew up in that neighborhood I grow near arts in Normandy probably about two miles. My family's home is is there. And one of the things that I remember very vividly. Besides all the cast that was happening is the presence of a lot of photographers in those communities. Not just the photo journalist, but a lot of people who were just photographing independently. One of the things that really bothered me about that. Is that a lot of those people had never come to the community photographic before. That, many of them would not come back afterwards. And then later on when I would look at portfolios. like six months to a year later I would see images. That were made during the riot. But they were without any sort of context or any sort of greater egg relation of what had happened what led to those events happening? Changing and that's spurred me to work on a project. That I've been working on now for thirty years on downtown Los Angeles largely because I felt like at the time. This is years before it became what it is now in terms of gentrification, but it was a part of Los Angeles I had grown up in and I felt that had been dismissed to a great degree and I just wanted to. Use My camera to sort of illustrate. What I felt was beautiful, interesting about a part of Los Angeles that was fiving and important to a minority community here in Los Angeles now it's become gentrified in now. It's completely at very very different thing, but as I see the events of the last couple of weeks, I have thought very much the same thing. You're saying all these people going out and making photographs. And I just felt like you know us as photographers regardless of race. We have to think about. Not just the kinds of pictures that we make, but those pictures are intended for. And the impact it can have especially if those of us who are out there. Making photographs are not working journalists and I just wanted to have a dialogue with both of you. Because you guys are both working photographers on the east, coast. Photographing these events and Photographing. Events. Not only American society with Black Cultural Society before going to continue doing this. And I just to hear I your own personal. How you are both Alliott. Both are personally experiencing these events. And then we can get into much greater conversation in terms of the role of photography now and going forward, cherise, I think you can take since you've actually been out in a failed. Covering summit is now well I have to say first and foremost as a black woman have a personal stake in experience with what's going on. I have my personal stories of you know experiencing racism. I can remember as far back as I was in third grade. The was third grade when I I was called a nigger. From there I became more aware of that in. It has carried through to the woman. I am today. I've had experiences of being stopped. While driving my car in questioned, whose car is this where you going? Where do you live, you know? At broke. No Laws I've had experiences of male male family members and friends who have had violent interactions so having that personal story it gives me a perspective when I go in and I'm actually covering the current the current things that are going on now with the protest in the demonstrations that are happening all over. ME. What I will say is this time it feels different of cupboard, protests and things before, but this time it feels like the youth are really what what I've seen. What I've noticed is the youth are more engaged in their on fire in their serious You can see that there are so many young people out there. In their organized they have an agenda. They have action items. And they're calling for certain things to be done or they will continue. With the protests with the work that feels very different, because it's a stronger a stronger voice now the other thing I'm seeing that's different out there are. There are more white people out there this time. Whereas before it was mostly black, people who were calling you know saying. Stop doing this to me. And calling for change now you have white youth who were out there as well as I saw other people, too, but like I said it's been mostly like a younger movement in terms of who are really out there in the numbers with them. Having what experience yesterday was. They have printed out their agenda and these action items in. They've given it to their legislative representatives. They're calling them. They're following up, so that's been probably like the biggest thing I've seen. Is that the youth are more engaged which. May Have Time In. They're not giving up in there, not scared That's the other thing you know. They're not scared to voice the problems that they see. They're not. To demand for these changes. This time around of being closer to home and I've been watching. Some of my friends out. There believe covering this protest top to bottom in light was such a high level of qualities amazing. Is One of those things where. Fast, forward, twenty thirty forty years and twenty twenty is in the history books. Would be proud to say that I know a lot of top officials. Who when documenting this time in history? So I've been close to home, you know I have a five year old son, and for me. The question of should I be out there? Covering this or should I be here covering my son? and. That's been a big question mark throughout the last week and a half when. The protests began and last night was the first night that. You know told my wife I'm going to go out there. It will fuel events happening in picked when I was close to home in. Backed up mcgeer? Wait now and by the time I got is the crowd had already dispersed. I was online trying to figure out if there was something else happening now close enough that I can get to. And the social media feeds had updated at that time so I, just said all right. Let me just go home. When I got home I started. Seeing all feeds, update and I just. decided to stay home, but you know my wife was. Worried rightfully so I would have been choosing to go out after the curfew. Dowse set in New York, which means that. Just, walk into my car I. could have just been arrested. Just welcome to the car or driving Cardin I'm seeing footage of police officers. Yanking people out of the car the after curfew, so those are the things that you ought. To Take into consideration and you know I. didn't grow was father's radio home so the last thing I wanna do is put myself in this situation where I'm not at home for my son so. I do know that they are the ways that we can be protesting that we can't be revolutionizing. You know it's not just a one-size-fits-all type of situation you know on. We can revolutionize by reading informing ourselves equipment ourselves with enough knowledge and information today. The was not pulled over is anymore. Re can right you know contribute with words you know. I'm seeing a lot of photographers being jerked around with the licensing so so so bringing awareness to how can properly get business stuff to together Sodano? Getting jerked and we get the proper value for all photos does a lot of different ways that we can contribute to this protest without being in front
Is Zion Living Up to the Hype for the Pelicans?
"Were in Dallas for the pelicans overtime loss to the Mavericks. Second night of a back to back for New Orleans obviously but we didn't see the Zion. We've sort of been spoiled by over the last month. So what did you get from Zion? On Wednesday night. I saw someone who had to go through a little bit of adversity. There's two different things working against him in that Dallas Game One. It was the first time he played on a back to back. You didn't see his legs under him. Early actually play but gets the block on Williamson Williamson. Took his time getting up court. You may be subbing out of the ball game here. He is drew and Lonzo Ball. We're GONNA come on up to him. Hey man you you're right you you tired. Are you going to play? You GotTa pick one. The other thing. Going against him was Dallas they started Maxi Kluber alongside of kristaps porzingis specifically for Zion Williamson two. That might have been forcing a psychotic burst that is just perfectly played deep that still by Dallas Cleveland's doing A. They went to the formula. That's been working. Which is the. We're GONNA get the tallest guy we have can defend him to do it. And then have another seven footer. Awesome plus footer at the Rim Ryan got blocked inside again. It's not possible in less. Cleber is being this physical and allowing time for kristaps ticket over there. Lieber six ten obviously porzingas seven three. Those have been the only really match ups that have given him problems when they played the box. Janas guarded him and then you have the Lopez twins behind him. Protecting the RIM defers Lakers game. Anthony Davis guarded him. And you had jovial and Dwight rim so that combination kind of went against his favor so walk me through a little bit of the process on the back to back portion of it because this is obviously part of the Adjustment For Zion. So where do you find the line? If you're the PELICANS in trying to get him experienced doing things like back to backs that he'll be asked to throughout his career and then also sort of adjusting him since he is still getting fresh on the court after an injury yeah so initially David Griffin the PELICANS executive vice president of basketball operations who should have a shorter title. It's a mouthful say every time I don't know I mean if you're going to have a title let's go big with it like if I'm going to have a business card the whole front of it's going to be my title and the backs. Just going to say fits. There's not not my first name. Just I'm pretty sure that's what his business card says. I haven't seen one but I'm pretty sure that's it has to read like that initially As I was coming back from the injury. Grif said he wasn't there. Were probably going to take it easy on back to backs. Now the good thing that kind of worked into their favor there was January. Twenty second was when he made his debut since then the Tuesday Wednesday back to back that they just had was the first time they had a back to back so they got to let him get games under his belt. He mentioned to his own Tuesday. You know I have to do the recovery if I want to perform the way that I'm capable of performing as you try to push for or is this your mutual agreement Little bit of both but I need a push for myself because I gotTa do the recovery of I want to be able to perform. We do every night with that. Being said coming off the knee injury there were reports that he was learning how to walk differently. How to run differently? I mean when they're watching him and they're monitoring and what are they looking for his indicators of his health very funny to me because I think George Sodano said that I think on ESPN broadcast and it just kind of blew up. He's learning how to walk and anybody who's been through physical therapy at any point that I for any sort of knee. Injuries foot injury. Whatever it is can tell you. They will relearn how to walk in physical therapy. The learning how to walk and run differently was more about little things in his gate that they wanted to fix. The biggest thing that they really wanted to correct at that time was how he landed when you go back and watch how he landed at. Duke with these huge one handed slam traffic. He's landing on one foot one of the big things you see. Now when he goes up for a dunk whether it's an alley whether he's just throwing it down to hands. He tries to land on two feet as much as possible. Zeile yeah that the to hand flush and a great entry fee for Lonzo Ball over Kunst buck to finish that would KUPA gotta be thinking. What in the world so. It's little things that maybe you don't know at nineteen years old that the Pelicans are trying to instill in him so they can take a little bit of stress off of his knees. The biggest thing you just said is nineteen if you listen to Zion. He'll make sure he tells you. He's nineteen in just about every other interview. I feel like I mean but doesn't right like we are so busy trying to make him either the savior of a lead. That doesn't need to be saved or the reason that we're over. Hyping somebody to the point that people ridicule how much we talk about it but you look at it at some point. Say this is a nineteen year old kid. We're talking about that is absolutely crushing in a limited sample size. So let's turn the tone positive here for a second you're looking at a nineteen year old kid. What he's doing is unprecedented right. It's absolutely unprecedented. Feel like every other night we were finding ways to start a sentence with Zion Williamson. Doing something and we ended it with Michael Jordan or Shaquille O'Neill or Tim Duncan or wilt. Chamberlain the goes on and on and on. And you're like that doesn't make sense.
NBA championship odds: Lakers still lead pack despite quiet trade deadline; Clippers improve chances
"Did you make of the two teams? How do you feel about them currently? Wow Oh well I I I I stand by. I think the clippers have long time then the favorites. I think the way that the Lakers have played This season and how they've consistently consistently performed Dwight Howard has been a pleasant surprise. I think Kyle Kuzma with the injury to start off the season. He he hasn't really gun the things that they would like. These are very good contributor. But I think that the clippers with all the management and and Paul George Missing Time and some Injuries and you look at where they are there. Second Right now and for me. I think that the clippers are the best team right are they. Are the team that come at at the end of the day you're going to have to go through in order to try and win a championship. Even though the Lakers have the best record and it looks like the Lakers are GonNa have home court At at this point in time if it were to start today I still feel like you know the clippers. The team that you're GONNA have to be in order to win the whole thing Richard. How all surprising that? The rockets decided to go full monty. There Bison not only are we gonNA run small lineups. We won't even carry a gun on the roster who would allow us to run any sort of other type lineups. Well it's a at this point in time. If you look at Dantonio you look at Dell Maury winter. We've we've had they not gone all in on whatever they believe right. What do they have to lose? They've been criticized up and down and make pulled off some pretty impressive trade getting in Chris. Paul getting in Russell Westbrook. They've done some really really good things to pair With with James Harden James Harden continuingly improved his offense of game. But it's like I'm not surprised anymore. It's like they look at their team. And they're like the way we're structured right now. We're probably up for a first or second round loss What can we do to really shocked at? How can we try and change things up? And they made them moved. ooh They believed that adding Covington and giving up Cappella and they just WanNa go all small ball kind of like what you would see from the Golden State Warriors for for a time So I'm not surprised by it. I think that you know everyone out. There is fighting for their job. I think Daryl Morey I think I think You look at Dan Tony think these guys are low key fighting for their jobs so if they know that first or second round loss possibly could be the end to their tenure. So why not try and go all whatever you believe. Richard Jefferson hanging out with this year. Makes you check them out today. Five o'clock Indiana Toronto. ESPN mean is also in studio with us as well by the way. You're listening to Los Angeles. So Richard Let me ask you this about what Brian said yesterday specifically in regards to that game like he he kind of talked about their lack of focus on defense. Where do you think the Lakers can get better on defense? Can they do it. Internally you have again you have some talented players and I. I always proceed very cautiously when you have a game like that and everyone wants to run and talk about it and break it down like look Russell. Westbrook had a great great game. Houston shot the ball extremely well if you send shot the ball like that against anybody on any given night. They're going to win that game Even Dan Tony said in his interview. He's like hey I understand what we're doing is different It all has to do with whether or not these guys will buy in and tonight was a big step that they would have gone out and got him blasted in a D had forty five right an twenty six against them. Everybody in that Houston Rocket Locker. Room would be questioning. What's what's going on? They would be getting murdered by the media. It would be going crazy but they were fortunate to get that win in La which very hard place to play and now. Everyone's questioning the Lakers. Well look I believe this. I believe that the Lakers are great regular season team. I think that last night they should've stayed with the White Howard. You can't Anthony Davis if there's a difference between being like having your numbers be dominant and actually being dominant and physically dominant. Anthony Davis just. Wasn't that Anthony. Davis Davis is not an again. I hate to talk about. What player isn't because he is a million great in every anybody would want them on their team but he's not a guy that just going to low post blocks doc band you up and then go and shoot a five-foot Hook shot and don't because he worked position that's why he runs the floor so well so he can get that early early post up in a great position and it's harder to guard but in the postseason when it becomes half court basketball? That's what the Houston Rockets are depending on when it becomes a half half halfcourt basketball game and they can spread it out and just have Russell James go to work and kick it out to more shooters so everyone had their theory. It's just a matter of WHO's going to be able to impose their will Richard One of the things that That's happening for the Lakers. This year is that when Lebron plays the offense is is tremendous right there. They're one of the best offensive teams out there. But when he doesn't play when he's not on the floor I should say that offense becomes very anemic even when Anthony Davis was an. MVP candidate in his own right is on the floor. And it reminded me of the years in In Cleveland the three years that Love Irving and and Lebron were together. When Lebron didn't play that team wasn't just not a great team not wasn't just a below five hundred they were awful and given that you've been on the inside you've been on a Lebron James Team? Can you explain to me how that is. How talented players? Once you remove this one guy turned into a bad basketball team. I think it's it's style of play. It's continuity I think that's something that it's it's weird because Lebron James is always you typically been healthy. She's always played in seventy five or more games except for last year due to the groin injury. So it's like this is the guy that each up eighty ninety percent of like court time. So you're what what you're really referencing is like non-core time and even then comes the postseason. This is a man that's going to go from playing thirty seven minutes a night thirty eight. He's going to go up to like forty three forty four minutes a night. 'cause there's no bags and there's no practices for most of his energies just using games. So what you're really talking about is how do you play Good Basketball for eight to ten minutes in it for twelve minutes and that can be tough to find that continuity. It's tough because it's such a small sample size right and yes it's a small. It's a large sample size is when you look at how often it happens. But it's very very difficult for coaches to be like how we're GONNA play for this ten to twelve minutes when the broncos out of the game because when he's in the game everything's everything's perfect. Everything's runs great room and I think that's the challenge. The coaches have a lot of people are talking about Darren. Collison coming in and then interrogating him bats. That's the challenge and it's and it's been a long time. The bron James Challenge is how do we play that 'cause they had with Kyrie Kyrie is a great score but it's like when Bronco go out of the game game that was an opportunity for Kyrie to really explore and really play his game and get his rhythm will Kyrie's rhythm might not necessarily be the rhythm for the the other guys on the court and I thought knock on Kyrie. If just like broad had the ball handed Kyrie was basically a two guard. Then Kai Bronco Ga.. The game in Cairo would become the point guard. But this was an opportunity to get going scoring and maybe throw the ball into Kevin Love. which when you had the surrounding guys there wasn't an offense? There wasn't a continuity beauty for us to play through so there's good still Lebron and there's challenges to Lebron. I wouldn't even call that bad but I think this final stretch is going to be key but understand. He's going to play more minutes in the postseason. So you can't really say like hey we need to figure out what we're GONNA do when he's out of the game because that's just realistically he's going to be in the game Ormeau. Richard Jefferson with this year on the Sodano show on ESPN. This actually leads perfectly into my next question. This is good chemistry right here. These three guys. So Rondo they have Rondo. Problem is a net negative player. He's been that for seven seasons now but to a means point it falls off a cliff. He's usually usually the guy that has to lead that second unit. I don't think they can afford to play him anymore. To be honest with you what do you do if you do agree with me. What do you do with Ronda how do you how do you manage? Rondo at this point Well I I think there's there's two components there's an on the court and then there's a locker room right. There's a locker component and it's like a like say what you want about Rondo. He's a very dynamic guy on and off the court so you WanNa make sure that Rondo understands what your is your team goals are. I think Rondo is in a very different space. And he was years and years ago whether it was in Dallas when I played with them or leaving Boston I think Rondos one of those guys that in this moment right here they need to find. I I think that's Darren Collison being. It's so big the need to find one more guy that can compliment that second unit And so yes do but you gotta look at what can you do. He's a net negative guy adding Rondo very very rare. But no one really questions Kenney still play is he's still a contributor when you're just looking at the second unit and when I tell you that the six years prior that's one thing this year I I mentioned it early.
Paul George of Oklahoma City Thunder sides with Jimmy Butler
"Reports have. Surfaced, George Sodano from ESPN is the main source of this. He says that the heat and the timber wolves had a deal done for Jimmy Butler. The two teams were exchanging medicals, which is the universal sports. Signed of a trade is done is. Now, let's make sure that this guy doesn't have a need. That's about to explode. They were exchanging the medicals and Tom tibidow called Pat Riley and asked for an additional piece to throw in at the last minute in the deal, Pat Riley called him in for and hung up. The phone on him. But as you've read reports all week for major awards and asking others. The two teams will certainly the heat hope to reengage with the timber wolves here before too long. My question is. How long till the nuggets get in there. How long till the nuggets decide you know, what let's throw our hat into the ring we have been through this as an organization before at some point this situation becomes untenable with a superstar that wants out the nuggets dealt with that with Carmelo Anthony. So. Could we potentially take advantage because my my guess is? That the nuggets have. You know, thrown at taxed maybe sent a Facebook message to the timber wolves. My guess is they haven't pushed very hard. Nothing more than just overtures and normal GM GM speak. Because one if you believe reports the nuggets label, Gary Harris is untouchable along with Nicole Yokich Jamal Murray, which I think is a nice thought, but. Let's be fair. At what those three guys are one of those guys does not have as high as ceiling as the other two, right? Like, I love Gary Harris. And I love what he's become but to label. Gary Harris untouchable is a little bit. Surprising. So there's that. But then there's also the idea of why in the world would the timber wolves wanted trae Jimmy Butler to the team that they just barely beat out for the postseason last year. And while that's still a valid question. If I were on, Minnesota's sports talk radio. I would be saying do not trade Jimmy Butler two the nuggets if you got to get rid of them get rid to the Eastern Conference. But again, how long? Can put up with questions like that. How long can Scott late in deal with being yelled at at practice by Jimmy Butler? How long can Karl Anthony towns Andrew Wiggins and Jimmy Butler awkwardly tiptoe around each other in the timber wolves locker room? I would say
The big news from Apple wasn't just new iPhones. Think Apple Watch
"The new apple iphones and apple watch are coming out the apple iphone x. s. and the latest edition of the apple watch four, we'll be coming out on Friday. It looks like so Trudell are you? I tried the apple watch. It just didn't work for me, man. I haven't gave it up my favorite thing about the upper watch you. If you can set your favorites menu, like on your phone to rotate on your as your watch face. So basically every time that I lift my hand or even turn around and turn over, it's a different picture, like my kids. Okay. My wife, I love that part of it. Just a nice thing. It's like having one of those, those rotating photo things, but always in front of your face. And it's like like the Herat monitor when I'm working out the text message things when you're driving. Yeah, it's it's what I would say is that it's it's nice to have, but it's definitely not necessary. Right? But it's It's it's. nice to have as as a as just sort of a little accompaniment on your hands. It's fine. Okay. Fair enough. And that's what's trending by the new one Sodano's trending what's trending on
Los Angeles, Kawai and Espn discussed on First and Last with Lundberg and Golic, Jr.
"And please donate one hundred dollars that'll do a lot better for this upcoming season because as of right now all the lakers have is lebron james and that's what makes this move by lebron so very interesting and still puzzles me and even after talking with ramona shelburne and talking with george sodano it's still to come this hour brian windhorst are nba insider some of them who know lebron james inside out i get it this is a basketball move longterm began the four years for the braun is now going to be real simple it's laid out he's not going anywhere he's got at least three but he wants to build something what about a guy like kawhi leonard his name's been brought up right multiple times paul george's name was brought up but paul george was on stage smoking cigars with russell westbrook staying he's staying in oklahoma city great congratulations you've played in the four or five game year we go as they thunder you couldn't get past the utah jazz what about kawhi leonard agent world's rows tweeted right after the news of lebron james from lebron's company his management company that why is still basically lack of a better term hell bent on getting to los angeles espn stephen a smith my what i'm being told san antonio is asking for the house multiple drafted along with the young players the lakers have made it very very clear they're not giving up the form is off limits they're not willing to surrender him in order to get a wide let it be not willing to surrender three repay in order to get a wide it their mentality is a wild wildland says he wants to be a laker so whether it this year or next eventually he's going to be a laker you need to give something while you can't stand it tonio with holding down the fort there'd be an incredibly stubborn which is being right and obviously smart on their part and they want to make sure that they get as much as they can from a wild lennon the lakers have not given up but if a deal is made by thumbs time maybe tomorrow morning at the latest ten the lakers will simply assume that this is not going to happen and they will move on i would assume that very much steven a and this is something that the spurs are going to give any gifts to the lakers in afam the san antonio spurs i wouldn't either which then means the game is this a washed year for the lakers lebron james maybe but now you get a chance to play with the kids see what the kid's offer up and then you can attack free agency next year when kawai long as he doesn't do anything stupid like sit out can do whatever he wants one triple eight say espn what eight eight.
