I don't think they're an advertiser, not plugging away here. Had How many inches of snow over the weekend. Oh, below. Big bear. Right? Right, right. Um, they did really well, I'm betting it's a number that I can't even get my head around. Good. Say maybe I'm gonna guess. Six inches. Very close. 20 inches. Oh, my God. Is that right that you believe And then they're putting another valley got that says that little running springs I drove by us exactly right. I drove by Snow Valley in the late summer early fall totally bare. It was like 105 degrees up there. The fires were burning out in the desert and smoke was coming into the big bear area and literally A month and a half later. 20 inches of snow. It's no valley and expecting another 10 to 15 inches of manmade snow on top of that, Wow, that's on. Really? Yeah. It's cold enough to do some, You know, serious manmade snow making they can really, you know, you need Certain conditions to prevail. Obviously, it's gonna be cold enough, but also in certain humidities and all this other stuff, and it's just perfect. I think first. No making right now. Yeah, I think you're right. Let's get into so it's on TV. Right here in the other car involved, they say is shooting on the 10 Freeway. 1 10 free with four people inside. It was last seen North bound on the 1 10 at Gage, Okay. "Next thing, remember they? They won two tournaments two regular season Mac championships. They won the match West eight times over during his tenure. He's one four hundred twenty eight Games during his college coaching, career and Steve Hawkins joins us here on the all ball pod hawk. How are you? I'm doing well. How much self! I'm good. I'm trying to think back. Snow Valley but I. Don't remember why I'm here and I don't remember if you were actually my head coach or simply a coach there because I'll tell you why want to get to do what? What do you remember, but I Snow Valley Basketball Westmont College in Santa, Barbara, what are your memories when I bring that camp up? Do you really want me to say. That, you like. Everybody knows I was an asshole when I was a kid. I'm an asshole now. So what's the difference at? Okay, we'll in good. You can say about yourself. No it was Snow Valley Basketball Camp and Gosh Almighty I'm GonNa say late. Eighties maybe maybe early nineties and Charlie Sands and heard Lizzie the outstanding. The directors of the camp come to me after about day. One of this particular weaken said Hey, listen. We got a kid. Okay, and I'm telling you now. He's a pain in the ASS but we think you're the guy to handle them. And, I said okay, so they put they put you on my team and You weren't an issue. Yeah, you question things. You went an issue at all so? From then on so I don't know how you were I mean I'm going to say middle school maybe. I went there i. went there I think from like. Time. I was ten or eleven, probably till I was like fourteen. Maybe maybe they'll let me so part of the deal was this. I think it was a Freebie. Right, so. It's it's one thing to be a pain. The like I was more of a pain in the ass in the dorms, just playing pranks and being jackass ever taking out the slats of bunks, putting icy, hot, and in a roommates underwear like that that kind of stuff. Right like not now. I love basketball like that wasn't the issue. It was just you know I like to. That was my way of having a good time. But, it's one thing to be a pain in the ASS. It's nothing when everybody else's parent is paying probably at the time three hundred bucks, and you're not you know your your dad's doing grads and and I. Don't know if you remember. They used to be two sessions, and so you know one session would end on like a Saturday midday, and the next session would start on a Sunday afternoon, and so I would stay for the. The, My Dad, my dad would take me up and drop me off and then hey, will come get him in two weeks right so then so like they're doing a solid of letting you stay for that extra day when no one's around all these things for you're doing it for free and then yeah, you're paying the ass in the dorm so I I think that's why irritated herb and Charlie more than more than anything else. I think he. It was it was a boot camp? It was unbelievable. I I've been working for a company called Sports World that ran all of John Wooden camps, and as long as Pat Riley's at the time. people like that and I was working I was my that was my summer job, and then I and then I. Found about Snow Valley through a mutual friend, also work these camps up. There was like holy cow country club. Nothing cooked wooden camps where country club, but the first session of Snow Valley was. Six Am. And the last game went off at midnight. You know so. It was I. Remember Travelers. Sam's coming out and saying hey. To Campers as four hundred campers there sleep is overrated. Now's the first line every week at Camp in the campaign. Go crazy and. Then yeah, it was, it was solid. That's for sure. Yeah I first day and a half. No basketball, right, you do shooting drills. No basketball footwork defense spacing all a little things. This isn't this honest question? I don't know if you know the answer they still have. They sold Snow Valley the the Westmont version of it and she to the Nike Camps, whatever and there's also one at UC Santa Barbara. There's one in Iowa I've been told. Some of the same coaches run it. Are there this summer. Are there any? Other basketball camps like that around period, and are there any basketball camps that are going to be around this summer? No I don't think that they're number one on Snow Valley I'm not sure what happened to it. I I believe that and I. Don't WanNA speak completely out of place here Doug but I believe that snow valid. There was a guy named Don show Walter who's very very heavy with with USA basketball and he used to work tremendous person and used to work coach witness camps with them as well and I believe that he got involved with no valley. And that may be the I because he was high school coach at Iowa, but in terms of camps I don't know of anybody that has been cleared because of Covid I don't know of anybody that has been cleared to have. Basketball Camps the summer I spoke with Mick Cronin out at UCLA We texted back and forth, and I know they weren't having any. That was as Gosh Almighty maybe three four weeks ago. How what was that? How did you get to boot work? John Wooden can't because I know you got a chance to be really close with coach wooden especially in the summers. How'd that come to be? Yeah, as I was, I was coaching in southern. California was I just graduated from high.

"Neighbor just home from the war complains about the noise of people screaming taught in the wire. Get me out of here no I I guess we can assume that the skiers are yelling and noisy. It reminds him of Charlie no fortunates maybe he's got PTSD. Of course we know now everyone from Vietnam had ptsd and he complains to local authorities and there is a noise ordinance and that's finally thing shuts down snow. Valley is one broken vet but it wasn't going well anyway after how long. How long was the run in two to three days? Oklahoma had skiing for two three days in the winter of nineteen. Seventy one and people still talk about this day the the Did he dismantle all of the the huddle houses and and the rope tow from the description of the concession stands out houses that can be knocked over by a single skier. I Yeah I think it was probably pretty flimsy. Anyway it was like the train cars of the region today. If you go there the you know the brush and the trees have grown back on the hills you can still see the flat area. That was great for the parking lot. But there's really almost no sign left of the three days of unhappy painful skiing. It is there any record of how many people actually bought a lift ticket during the during the three day run. I would love to know how many people were. There was it. Fifty was it. Five hundred it was is enough to make enough noise that we still recall that that bothered this private but yes but also enough that there there are still some locals who remember the summer they got to work at the popcorn stand for three short days and that concludes Snow Valley Oklahoma Entry One one. Eight to J B two four one nine certificate ticket number one seven three nine eight in the omnibus. It also hopefully concludes the POKEMON deal for Dell Fox E. X. agreed on x and the evil. Tom Hayden Unlikely event that you grow up to be normal. Adult facebook twitter twitter and instagram are archived at Omnibus Project. Hayden if you want to know more about your friend. Dylan's father you can go to his twitter account at Ken Jennings and if you'd like to know more about me a scary other adult you can go to at Jonrak you'll learn a lot and maybe it will help you grow. "You get the right texture. How how you spray it? On the hill there must be a lot of logistics and infrastructure. Involved in that's right and I assume he had some experience with that at big bear with you know northern California have needed artificial snow at at the time so years of experience artificial snow and he's obviously one of these guys who thinks this is the future and while he was visiting his parents Sorry his wife's parents big difference. It is and they shouldn't be the same people even Oklahoma home during this visit he got to talking with. His wife's parents started doing some math and he realized that although the the weather in Oklahoma is moderate that with artificial snow. You don't need to many freezing temperatures. He decided that if he just had ten nights where the temperatures drop below zero he could operate a ski resort for thirty days on artificial snow really. Once once temperatures interest fall below freezing it would only take eight hours with the system. He had in place for like eight hours to cover five acres with five inches of snow and and then if the temperature went up to thirty seven degrees he could maintain wouldn't be enough to melt. Yeah I guess that five inches gives them enough of base as that he can maintain and so all he needed was a suitably hilly spot and he felt like he had the snow making apparatus to run a ski resort in Oklahoma and of course northeastern Oklahoma is kind of hilly so he starts driving around in Chile. It's gotta be and it's got.

"He decided to sweeten the deal like rear pokey more a Dell foxy the X. Agreed-on X.. Two on tally ex. I asked the Dolans specifically I need to know which pokemon cards and he said why. And I said because I'm GONNA mention them on the show and now Dylan's all of a sudden backtracking a little bit right now realizes absolutely I have to ask Hayden cards words. Yes no it is not detail is the engine that drives journalism and storytelling. Did he start to feel like you. Maybe we're going to shame him on this show so I think he was starting to see this shape up and he wasn't sure if this was worth Adele Fox. Es Hayden although right now basking in the basking in the mention of his name is going to is. He's going to rule that he ever walked into two kinds of teens. There are the teens love to have the spotlight of adult attention gleaming on them right and then there are others who you realize the kind of what how how iffy and how compromised I think the spotlight of adult attention can be. Let's drop it. Let's drop the needle on the record right there and say these are seventeen year olds who are playing with pokemon. What is is going on? I shouldn't have graduated to cars or girls or something. The funny thing about Dylan is that he had an amazing Pokemon card collection and at some point and then he turned nine and was like. I don't need these anymore. And gave him do a buddy or gave him to goodwill or whatever you probably worth a million dollars and then we ah today in today's money. Yes are you kidding. No I think I think there might have been I think back. Then there were they were still being made by. I don't know how to Pokemon episode there at some point. They were being made by wizards of the coast. The magic the gathering collectible dose of those people and we're friendly with them and they that's a local outfit. Magic was a local product. And I think because of that you know these cards are now rare just as we said stamps and coins a rare if they have different trim or right you know so the look of the cards changed and now the old-timey ones how some cash that the fifty seven Chevy was made by Ford extremely rare. But then I think it may have happened again. We're dealing in regard into POK mon the pokemon fat at some point. Because is that what happened. The third time it happened. Yes it was pokemon go and now he's got a girlfriend and they go play pokemon go with with her parents. Pokemon go to your girlfriend's house. His his girlfriend is a sweet gal and she's she's really Nice Lady and she's unclear why she's dating has been welcomed calmed into your family and a really nice way. See her around there. All the time vice versa dylan often wants to bail on whatever. Activity is because his girlfriend's parents are playing pokemon. Go what Seattle Center and we we find that kind of. That's as close as we get to some wholesome family activities so wholesome at one level but also. I don't know very concerning turning at another level if they were playing backgammon. Of course we'd be all for it. Yes yes go play backgammon with your girlfriend's dad but if you if you if your if your a girl friends dad is playing cops and robbers with you that seems like so. It's not even the tech that concerns you. It's the real life immersive aspect now like we're going to the Seattle Center to play cops robbers. The my friends parents want to count. Yeah I'll just drive down there because I'm seventeen years old so hayden presumably as also part of this strange group of of of people who almost could fighting a war but are instead to keep eventual. Cookie kids are months away from being able to vote. That's threat. These children will be able to vote many of them in the two thousand ten twenty Presidential Action Dole will not. He'll be a week away from being eighteen. which is good one? Vote for trump. Ah But but I do feel like there's a there's less Jill Stein vote. There's a kind of a trope right now among people generation X. Bummer the the Gen X. boomer access yeah where there's a lot of sort of virtue signaling. Praise for a young people that's happening in the culture like the young people are amazing. got a cover there so smart. Let's give the young people power or and I'm like do not give young people power. What are you talking about? You remember being young person like of course they seem virtuous they have no they have only like five ideas ideas. Trust several young people. I trust a neuro typical Scandinavian children. That are concerned about global warming glaciers. The very nice but I would not give that child the keys to my house they say. Will you look after my house for you. Give Greta Thunberg your Domino's pizza buzzer. I many pizzas. She would would you give Greta Thunberg the password. The computer no like Gee I wish he looks very serious. I think maybe she would do my taxes right. She seems capable. Maybe Malala would would get my I My my charitable giving order. Maybe maybe the thing is my high school girlfriend. Kelly would have been absolutely trustworthy but she was my girlfriend and she would have invited me over to your house. She would be there doing your taxes and I would be like licking the the frosting out of breath of your frosted good. When you're a parent you actually come to enjoy what what is bashed in the media as the perpetual adolescence lessons of the rising generation right? Because you don't want your kids out Trying rave-drug day trading sure You and penny stocks that all combination you want playing cops and robbers the Seattle Center. Sure because it seems like the amount of trump keeps them out of trouble anyway all this by way of saying that in ten thousand years the microbe people are going to be. You're listening to Oklahoma Lor and I think they deserve to know that Snow Valley may not have made it into the omnibus on its own merits. Because it's almost entirely down the media meme whole unless you're from northeast North Central Oklahoma. It's a fascinating story. We'll know it's interesting to me. Is that if Dylan had if dylan had the wisdom of an adult. Instead of that of a child he would have contacted me about this story. Because I would have been like both Novelli Oklahoma thanks dylan but instead he went to his dad who I mean if he had come to you with some some story about how calculus is is used as a aphrodisiac. You would have been like. Yeah sure. But it's a ski story in Oklahoma. Here's wheelhouse yeah and he loves skiing. You Love Oklahoma. Homa he picked the host. That was going to that. was going to turn this into an episode about embarrassing his kid what. You're seeing the combination of two impulses that a lot of teams have or specifically in Dylan which is his desire for things for pokemon cards and his and his fear of of you. This fear of intimidating adults. And I'm I'm curious Dylan obviously has not found collecting and playing pokemon to inhibit inhibit his his appeal as a potential mate. Right like this is not going to who inhibit his ability to breed right. Even if you're nerd friends are into your nerd hobby. You realize the girls may not be engineered hockey but that may be a relic of our generation. Yeah right I mean the the kids that I knew that. Spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to make a broad sword. The assumption was that they would never have children the thing about making tekken exclusively male. Aol Province is. We often talk about how you know how it disenfranchised generations of women. That's the problem. We I still see today in in stem fields in the old boys network. That's built up around a lot of these professional angles but to think of the real victims. It's not teenage boys who could have been dating all this time if they're if they're if they're potential girlfriends had just been into star trek deep space nine as much as they were. That's right here and the thing is you know what did help You in the dating world in the nineteen eighties. At least in my experience peyote skiing skiing. And and skiing on Peyote like instead of snow or skiing under. Let's get enough peyote together that you are skiing on it. You're a big wheel. Is that a true story. Was There in Alaska in your youth. was there a lot an Ara of desirability and masculinity that surrounded skiing for whatever reason the nineteen seventies indies and eighties. Were were an era where skiing was ascendant. As a as a sport that communicated a kind of preppy upper middle classless and primarily because it's expensive and also the gear is expensive and it requires that you often travel long distances to do it and have a place to stay when you're there. I mean everything about skiing makes it not accessible and so it was a signifier of. It's a sport. The tries to keep people out that's very nature but also on a mountain. It's hard and so you exhibit prowess in addition to wealth and the prowess in a in a sexy glamorous way you know like James Bond could never play soccer against against an adversary but he could certainly only tried to out ski their henchmen and this is a great thing about skiing. And it's why appealed to me so much is that it is a solitary sport. I mean you're on a team. You're racing but but as soon as you start to move on Skis you're by yourself and you could be surrounded by other skiers but you are. You are alone. That's me all the time. You Know Need Ski Gig issue here. You're alone in your bubble until you come to a stop you know until you're down in the lodge and and and drinking hot cocoa so that appeals to a lot of people myself included loaded. Well speaking of driving long distances to have this experience this bubble experience. I take you now to Kelly Ville Oklahoma located in like like I said kind of North Central Northeast Oklahoma founded in eighteen. Ninety two by man named Kelly who Oklahoma was still Indian territory in eighteen ninety two capital. I Capital Capital T.. Indian territory on maps sure because it was the place that all these tribes were relocated because despite your insistence that Oklahoma is a great place to live. We hadn't found oil. There is no harm in placing Indians from Florida. To the DAKOTAS right. Nobody wants to live here of pre oil discovery After which we do episode on the the The osage Indian massacres of Oklahoma. And absolutely and I I don't laugh I laugh a rueful laugh right because it's a it is a sort of Tale H. H. B. O.. Is Getting into forgotten Oklahoma racism as well. They only tens of million million dollars into that watching. TV show. which is then you would think about? Oklahoma's troubled racial past. Had No idea. I haven't why I just assumed it was about the get an ink blot for a face. I don't think we can do the Tulsa massacre slash riots anymore. Just because it's common child in America now knows it. Oh Wow okay well. Maybe I should watch that show. Telly Ville Mr Kelly got permission from the bureau fairs or whatever to found a trading post or general store I get you guys get rich off the off the tribes like deadwood and grew into a town at some point You know had its own bank. You can post office and Cotton Gin. I guess must be must be cotton fields nearby but the depression hit Oklahoma. Kinda hard as you may know. And and so the population began to decline to the twentieth century for a long time it was on the storied route. Sixty six which is what kept it afloat. Oh it's on sixty six still on sixty day on. Fortunately totally sixty six sixty six. Everybody takes the interstate and that didn't help as well in fact in probably until this day the most famous thing that ever happened in Kelly Ville is the worst train disaster in Oklahoma history. History is an increasingly narrowing. So you're ready. The worst train disaster in Oklahoma Clo Homa history in the standards of American history..

"The friends real name. Yes I'm naming Hayden on this show Hayden Okay and I think another couple months past and Dylan asked me again. Hey how come you didn't do Snow Valley Oklahoma like doing what. Why are you interested in this Oklahoma Ski Story? He says well. This is where the Paola comes out. He says what Hayden says that he'll give me some really rare pokemon cards if If Your Dad's podcast one over Stone Valley Oklahoma so Hayden listens to omnibus. Apparently seems unlikely on the face of it and Hayden had an idea. Hayden apparently has grant. I did some research research last night. Okay Dylan and I were texting back and forth with Hayden Hayden. It turns out you guys are all in the same house but you're texting. Winter Haven is not in our house. Hayden is in Hayden's house. Ah Hayden but Hayden Hayden mentioned his grandparents are from Oklahoma. I believe the region of Oklahoma that our story concerns and so he knew about this kind of funny local story of Snow Valley and thought maybe he had realized that we cover some of that kind of Americana and cultural detritus. Try To us in this venue and thought your dad should do that. And when it didn't happen he decided to sweeten the deal like rear pokey more a Dell foxy the X. Agreed-on X.. Two on tally ex. I'm with you. This knows melting in everyone's gonna see. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. But listen, you can also see after the storm clears and it's so cold for the snow still has that texture to it. You know, the thing about a sixty five degree and it's beautiful in Colorado. And even here in California where it gets warm after there's been a lot of snow. It's great. But the snow has a corn snow. You know, it's like spring now. Whereas man when that when that bad weather clears and it lifts and you've got that day, and it's cold out in the snow. "We'll deliver, you know, in won't the proper live. Live. Cook. It will bring the strive to a life with. I will leave if you have these fucking cookies. I don't. I do have a red air. There you go. Okay. Well, this. Whatever it is that you know gets you through a night where you might just be in your feelings and you just wanna get through your watch lists. Yeah. Do that for you in those moments and get ya s up the next fucking day. Get back to work. It happens. Don't let those feel like it's just so normal. Like who is listening to this who has never had them where they're just like, I don't think I could do this or maybe not good enough for that doesn't work. It could be relationships. It could be like the jam anything could be any the motherfucker blackest thing. But if you recognize that as like a typical normal part of who we are, human beings like striving for something and you can learn when it had to shake it off and get your mother fucking black ass up and get back to what the fuck it is that you were doing before. I think that it can do a lot in terms of like subduing those. Dark moments that you have mentally and really sort of rebuilding like confidence that you have yourself because at the end of the day, all the shit sort of doesn't work out the way that you expected it to or wanted to. At least you could say that you did issue. You probably learned a lot of shape that you can apply to your next venture that you wouldn't have learned. If you quit. You may have met some incredible people on the along the way that will be beneficial in the future. Who will be there to listen to. You will be there for you to lean on who keep you a job or another opportunity somehow, like you just got to be like. Nitrile the shed and possibly fail, and then keep trying or try something new or Akkad I, you know. You know, the worst possible thing that could happen to me is that I drop dead and that's it. And I didn't get to do what I didn't get to try or not try. So if it's not like if you're not wrestling alligators and sharks for a living than my, what is mine? Yeah, you're not hurting yourself or hurting anyone else. Keep a truck and maybe you gotta, Wade, low while maybe your you know your Bank statements aren't lining up for you to be as extravagant or as polish as you want to be in those moments. Maybe you'll shit gotta be Lou Christie, I bitch, but it's better for that shit to be crossing some lotion along the motherfucking way then to not exist the motherfucking. Oh sure. You can't put lotion known if you don't have no skin, and you know some be gone out and meet somebody who could use a little lotion on their caps and you take them home anyway. Cocoa butter it and you out and. Cocoa butter at a take them strays into your home, little win, real nice little way. I've been between your index finger. Just snow valley. Kind of thing. You still love them any the fuck way. Leaping they is and everything else, and you'll lotion on them the Fokker and love on it like that. You can't. You can't win without playing the game, those what plan to game. But you have to get actually own the field out the stains in order to even know which one you gonna be. When I when I tell you has been my of me being like backed up from item. I don't know what the fuck. Doing someone help get me off of the grounds, how. My endless torment of like, why am I doing this? I'm so lost and confused over many things. Not one particular thing. So when I realized that I have felt that way before about things that turned out well, and I realized that people who are way ahead of me are still experiencing it, and I realized that so many people around me are experiencing. I'm like, oh, this is the human thing. It is absolutely is on a lot of us having Zayed and we fear that everything is going to be absolutely terrible. And then we actually do. And it's like, oh, I made that a lot worse than what it was. Yes, yeah, I'm super bad about that..

"Exactly. And you know, the level of expectation is so high there where here in salami county. Typically, you know, the guy cleaning the toilets is the winemaker the books more than dirty real it. So more real you can still capture things like that over in nap. And and so it's not just got blessed to actually work for Charles crew. It's the oldest winery in Napa. It's call it the old gorge of you know, the wine world over there because Jacob Schramm was our first winemaker in Jacob Barringer was our second winemaker. So we have a little bit of a providence there. Yeah. There's some history, but it's an amazing place, and it's owned by them in Dhabi's. And and it's not the Robert Mondavi side. It's the Peterman Dhabi senior or the Monday the dependent. It depends on which way the winds blow. Very herbs wine buyer at bottle, barn greatest. See again. It's good to see you. Longmen then all busy talking about this new thing that has kept you so busy, and it's starting to come to fruition. We've made it to beta testing now. Which is what the whole thing is. It's a it's an online store combined with flash sales that will be pretty much cold out parts of bottom line. We'll run about forty fifty items at a time online that you can buy through shopping cart and get free shipping on six bottles. Wherever you are is just wine or beer and spirits wine. Right now, beer, and spiritual more problematic in terms of shipping's, especially beer. Spirit to European California that nowhere else. All right. Built you guys have built a whole new. Yeah. We took a whole space. I'm buying wine specifically for online. But some of the stuff is also in the store, but we have to buy in such a way that we can offer the pre shipping. So it has to be really specific good deals, and we're going to be running flash sales where we have large quantities of things that'll sell out like our insider does in a day or two and that'll be it. So so is this actually coming to fruition? The two to three week range now for as long as we don't find too many bugs during the beta testing, it'll be ready to go. And we gotta deal with harvest bear in the middle of this. Which is a busy time. Well, we're all going to we're going to DC next week when we come back. Yeah. Exactly. And we'll talk more about it. Definitely. Dear friend, Jim Morrison's here. He's now working for Charles kernigan. Napa. It is California wine country with Dan Berger and today, we're featuring the former longtime Saint Francis winemaker Tom Mackie who now has Tom Mackie sellers. We're going to taste some of this and talk about it. How we doing on time? I just got five minutes as an eternity. All five for cabernet. So, dan. Again, talk about well, actually, we talked about Saint Francis. But talk about Mackey seller. Let me let me back up a second show, you that cinema valley is really where. Tom had his start because that's where Saint Francis was located in a lot of what was taking place in snow of Allie was really under the radar in the early years. I remember in the early seventies. When Kenwood I opened up and the the name Kenwood didn't mean anything to anybody. And but yet at the at the same time there were a lot of people in snow county who understood where Kenwood was and they knew that can win was was wine area. So Tom, maybe you can explain what what took place in terms of the reputation of cinema valley. It was really people are misunderstanding. They talk about Napa Valley in Selma valley, like they're opposites and cinema valley is a specific small location. It is and the wineries I remember visiting them as a early twenty somethings. And I remember there was Buena Vista there. Was Sebastian Johnny and. About I think about one thousand nine hundred seventy grand cru, I think putting the valley, and and then seventy four I think was saying, gene. And there's much more concentration of wineries in on twenty nine and in Napa. And whereas here you had to go further. There's vineyards are more spread out. It seemed a bit more. I wouldn't say rustic, but I'd say multiple crop. Valley or area than Napa becoming more and more monoculture even back then. Obviously, they don't have. We don't neither of us have anywhere near the wineries that are there now. You'd even mentioned trying to start a winery, and you'll have three or four layers of enemies to go through that. Right now, it's it's the the differences. I think are somewhat less. They're less noticeable. They are as you mentioned there arches. The big differences acre grave how much us and so once that that that everything flows downhill from that. And so there's the. The property expectation there, and you can't blame them if they're focusing on cabernet because that's what they're known for were more multiple varieties here. I think we have more micro climates, and there's no question. There's also a couple of additional things going on with cinema valley because some valley a little bit like Healdsburg in some other areas that were populated primarily by Italian immigrants at the very beginning of this whole process. We see a lot of wines being produced from vineyards that are not entirely homogeneous in terms of the variety. You could go into Healdsburg and by zinfandel, and it's probably thirty percents stuff. That's not zinfandel. But it's fine. It's great wine. So and in those days, you still had access to you that petite Sarai you had some Soviet-bloc going in there. Snow valley was really a wonderful resource and has now become a place where you can actually hang your hat on the image and the quality of the products. Right. Yeah. And well, that's how the back when I started in the early eighties with Joe Martin and Saint Francis back then the in many viticulture, Arizona state, the planting was put his many varieties and see what works and also the old plant in was the eight foot rose, the twelve eight eight foot spacing twelve foot Rosie was called the California's sprawl he'd put it up there either. I have a couple of wires develop on there. And it was a big. You know, you had the jungle. Yeah. There's a jungle you had to cut back on the on the canes before harvesting, and you had the dive in there to get the grapes. And now, I mean, the the pollution of both grape growing and winemaking has just been remarkable over the last forty fifty years. It's just phenomenal. This is a really fine two thousand fifteen cabernet. Yeah. Let's talk about this twenty fifteen as some sonoma's valley. This is a this is a lasted here. We got the cabernet from wild oak ranchers to Saint Francis. It's the vineyard right up against the hill. They're on the property on the east side of the twelve and. Devine's aren't terribly young. I believe there about twelve fourteen years old and the fruits concentrated, but it's balanced. I like the. The character the fruit, the varietal depth, the this and also we did little blending. I think thing about fifteen was that year. The California are the cinema and other places cabinet. Crop is down by in some cases, fifty percents that was an early. Yes. Yes, historically early and the crop is so small that. I was I was getting half of what I contract it. And so I checked out some friends in the area who had other varieties because at that time when I found my sizes was getting ready to harvest any cabernet that was unclaimed was not worth buying. So I said, well, we're planning on the board o or planning on doing some blending. So what better we looked around and checked, and we found a a petite for the stomach vineyard just across from Saint Francis. And then the land Woollard Lynn Woollard vineyard just north of Saint Francis on the other side of the hill up against the ills. And that's where we got our Malbak. And so we did our basically we deal are blending trials and after three or four attempts. We came up with this. And then tried it again, it showed consistency. And so we'll let this is our blends. In the meantime, we put a board that board blend together because we had more cavern and more mailbox. Well, we're million to put a board of land together. So here it is. And it's turned out to be our are serious red wine. Also from the same vendors. Dan, talk about this. Well, I think the fifteen is really a great example of regional characteristics of a little bit of that bay leaf character, which I just adore and cavern a in particular. It doesn't have as much of the siege. Is I often we'll see in some regions. But I think that's part of it is this beautiful blending because it's the whitest so young it's just a baby. But it's gonna be a beautiful wine with a little bit of irradiation. Just put it into Kanter put it in the bottle for a couple of years when I like about cabinets like this is they smell like cabernet, they taste like cabernet. And that's not you can't say that about every cabernet. So even right now. No, you can't. No. But I'm saying this one is still too. It's fabulous to drink. Yeah. It's gorgeous. But I think it's going to be better in a couple of three years, and I'm getting the break sign from producer, Mike the walled. We've gotta check traffic.

"An uncommon circumstance sad to say for you to be Indiana but so eight. Hundred workers working at the, Mendocino complex fire and how many of those would you say are from this Anoma county area Most are from Mendocino and Lake County but. We, did pull some crews from Noma, county and other parts of PG need territory, mostly local though and there are a lot of stomach county. Cruise up in the car fire work in the car fire I was there KEO for, the car fire couple of weeks ago and I didn't meet up with some of them affair to here right now we are about ninety percent assessed meaning most of our Clement has been assessed so we're looking good. We're down to about seven hundred customers without power. And we're hoping to have a hus-. Mercer seven hundred customers restore fairly soon as we were nearing the end of all of our stuff and. Figuring out what needs to be fixed and what needs to be repaired so we can safely and quickly. Restore those customers How do you how do you how can you describe the difference in where you are now. As to where we were ten months ago tomorrow Oh gosh oh here we are again and. Another devastating off our season and it's it's only August I mean I. Think everyone is is pretty much agree that this is the new normal that extreme, weather event, driven by climate change are causing these unprecedented wildfires and I think people. Are a, little bit more educated about, that and just the you know here we are beginning of August Augustan, is all these devastating wildfires again so unfortunately, this is? Our. New normal and? Let's get this? Out of the way for official purposes DNA you're you're not going to talk about the peach any lawsuits correct I mean. I can, say that we still believe that we've met the state's high standards when it. Comes to the protocols and policies in the wills and regulations from what. We know so far you know we haven't seen the Cal fire reports they were, sent over, to the district attorney's offices so you know we we still believe that. We've met, the state high standards when, it comes to meeting the policies are the laws are you a surprised, as we are that the tubs report is, not yet, out Right yeah that's obviously. That report has, not, been out we don't have any insight into what it is coming out or or with the thinking of Cal. Fire is we'll let them do their do their work and just wait and see And one of the other things I wanted to mention to you Deanna to is is that the peach any stance of turning the power off when a threatening circumstance Shows itself In the future to try to ward off some of this wildfire activity and who decides that and when do they decide it So that is part of our community while far safety program it's called the public safety power shut off it is the first time that PG has the protocols in place to shut off. The power before, fire presents itself basically to prevent any any fires and to prevent our equipment from being involved in any fires in the past we've be energized lions and shut off power at the request of. Cal fire and at the request of firefighters after a fire has presented itself already. In for the safety of the, first, responders the now, as part, of, the community while fifty pervent we have, our operation center you and I talked about that yes monitoring the conditions twenty four seven and with our meteorologist with our weather forecasting was all of the the weather instruments is technology out there and. Basically looking to see if we need to shut off the power to prevent a wildfire is it's a lot of damore factors there's not a magic formula or magic Algorithm at yeah. That would make things simpler wouldn't it Right Win win, conditions humidity is the area. Drive is there debris flying around in the air could hit are it's a number of different, things but that is very important that people do you know about this new program because we want our customers should be prepared for an out and we want our customers to be prepared for outages either. Way but especially if if a public safety power off situation were to happen and we shut off the power to the whole entire, line and this will only affect people who live in high fire threat, area what we call tier two and tier three high fire threat district and not according to the CPC the California Public utility commission fire. Threatened so, we'll we'll happen for. Everybody just those who live in high fire threat districts and west, county obviously is a high fire red area and and parts of snow Valley High fire threat..
