"Very, very young. And by the way, he also went after Jada. He said, you know, Jada Pinkett Smith. She suggested that I shouldn't host the Oscars in 2016 because Will Smith starred in concussion and didn't get a nomination. And you shouldn't have gotten a nomination. It was a really bad movie. He said, so instead, he decided that he was going to give me a concussion. But his whole shtick is, I'm not a victim. All these other people are claiming to be victims. I'm not a victim. They're not victims. Stop with the victim attitude. There's going to be a backlash in this country and is going to come very, very strong for the left. Because again, so much of leftist ideology at this point is wrapped into the idea that we are all victims where victims of the system. The system has somehow harmed us in some deep and abiding ways. Chris Rock is not the only one. You've seen this from Chappelle. Pretty much every major comedian is now on board with this because guess what? If you're a major comedian, this means that you have made a success of yourself in American life. It means that you worked really hard to get there. You worked a lot of clubs. There were a lot of circuits. You failed a lot. And so this notion that you look around you and you see a country filled with failures because there are so many people are just victims of the society. You don't buy into it. If you're truly successful in American society, very difficult to see that everyone else in American society's victim, particularly if you're somebody like Chris Rock, by the way, they also had some notes about abortion that were kind of shocking. He actually picked up an old Louis C.K. routine. And he also said, he was like, I'm very pro choice. I love abortion. I probably paid for more abortions than anybody in this room, but you are killing babies. And everybody in the room's like, wait, what now? And again, he doubled and tripled down on it. So this Netflix special is important because this is going to be the most watched thing in America for the next couple of weeks minimum. It's funny, it's really better. It's a very, very angry special. And one of the reasons that it's angry is because one of the things he's angry at is mentality that suggests, again, that victimhood reigns supreme. And that wokeness is a way to success. That the way that you gain success is by he went off on woke corporations. You want to find Lululemon at a certain point during the special. He starts yelling at Lululemon. He's like, you guys are telling me about how much share do you give? You know what would be charity if you didn't sell yoga pants for a 120 bucks. That would be charity. He is expressing what a lot of people feel. A lot of people of various ethnicities and various races and various political points of view. There is going to be an anti left revolution in this country and you're just beginning to see the first glimmers of it, which is very scary for people inside the Democratic Party. Again, it's not just coming from Chris Rock. It's my other cultural figures who are on the left and who are feeling similar things in just one second first. The government keeps raising the interest rates right now because they have no choice. I mean, the inflation is out of control. We are headed for economic stagnation. We all know this. And the truth is that economic stagnation is somewhat baked into the cake. If you look over the course of the next ten years, even before this inflationary cycle, the Biden administration was suggesting that over the course of the next ten years, the American economy was going to grow well under 2% every single year. Which would not even match normal pace of inflation. It's just one reason why you should diversify at least a little bit into precious metals. Hedge against

"Option one, Facebook's VP of infrastructure is right, and it was configuration changes on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic between data centers, which led to an interruption in digital communication. Or option two, mercury was in retrograde. It's one of those two. Hard to say. Speaking of correlation, just unrelated all supporters of that second hypothesis, keep dating, guys with tattoo sleeves and they don't know why it doesn't work out. Sorry listeners with tattoos. Okay, I want to be clear on this. I'm not sorry. You did that to you. So people who couldn't make it an afternoon without Facebook have issues and they need to do some inner reflection after that. But I don't want to diminish the very real problems this cause for people all over the world that rely on messenger and WhatsApp is their primary source of communication, as well as people who were competing at very important weekly challenges on their inexplicably bricked Oculus quest. Why the fuck would Facebook have to be up for that to run? The struggle is real, okay. Absolutely. Yeah. So point is that IT nerd was probably lying. So let's examine the cosmos. According to astronomy expert, Lisa, stardust. Get the fuck outta here. She's an astronomer for teen vogue, or astrologer, but basically the same way. According to miss stardust, mercury retrograde occurs four times a year. During this time, miscommunication, technological meltdowns, travel issues and faulty news are rampant. Except this. This is real news right here. Fuck, okay, whatever quote. Every time I talk about this, fake news is rampant. So she continues 6 planets are currently retrograde in the sky at the moment. Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Not a planet. All of these planets are playing a role in the delay to fix social media. Jupiter connects people, Saturn takes on the task of fixing matters, Uranus is ruler of the Internet and innovation, which is damn impressive because there are a lot of anuses on the Internet. So the fact that mine is the ruler, that's Neptune is the planet of confusion and illusion collusion. And Pluto represents turmoil and therefore annoyances. With these 5 planets in retrograde motion and mercury added to the mix, it's safe to assume that it'll be a hot minute before any of these technological issues are reconciled. After today, it'll be hard to tell an astrologer that astrology or retrogrades are not real, especially since you'll have to tell them offline. Oh, you'll have to use your face. Okay. My favorite thing about that is that she's like, Jupiter is in charge of peanut butter and Pluto is split ends. Also, mercury is in the mix. She couldn't make up one more site. Planning round? Okay, I love that Uranus is in charge of the Internet. Right, it's just been sitting there for suffering through all the ass jokes for centuries, thinking you mother fuckers just wait. Tim Berners-Lee is going to change everything. He's so important. So listeners, maybe you're thinking teen vogue is not the best source for news about astronomy and network hardware style. I am not thinking that fair enough. Let's check with cosmopolitan. Stardust was backed up by Erica Smith of cosmos, astronomy desk, I guess. Okay, and she doesn't even have a space name. How can we trust, right? Dumb. Come on. What's a smith? Nothing smith star, nope, smith. Erica Smith. She also added that Instagram has a zodiac sign, which added to all the chaos. Here's the quote from Erica Smith of Cosmo. Yes, Instagram is a Libra. In astrology, apps and buildings and countries and pretty much everything else you could think of have birth charts just like people. Instagram launched on the App Store on October 6th, 2010, making that it's birthday. And that means Instagram is being extra affected by this particular mercury retrograde. And the same goes for all you human libraries out there. Sorry, end quote. Oh. You know, I'm a Libra. So that explains why nobody signed up for my only fans. Mercury is an tardigrade. I would correct you, but it's not more correct if you say it the other way. Equal. And just in case anyone is not familiar with the term retrograde, as it applies to planets, it just means appearing to move backward. So most of the time, we see the planets moving from west to east through the stars, but the planets revolve around the sun at different speeds. So when a faster moving planet catches up and passes a slower one, it appears to be moving the other way for a bit. Just to be clear, retrograde motion of a planet doesn't even actually happen. No, it just looks like something different is happening, but it's not. It's nothing. It's nothing happening. It's just like, if I stand next to Eli, and he starts walking, he seems to be moving forward in my eyes away from me. But then I start walking faster, and when I pass him, he seems to be moving backward relative to me while I pass. And my computer exploded. Okay. That was weird. Shit out. Have just burst into flame. All right, well, it looks like we need to find he's a Sagittarius computer, so while we do that, we're gonna pause for a word from our other sponsor this week. Adam and Eve. Hey podcast listener. I'm Elizabeth. Here with a very important public service announcement. You are probably not lubing.

"Or conditions. We will cooperate with us to hand over our fellow Palestinians to the Israelis. The two fugitives found today We're still in Israel reportedly caught after asking locals for food. The others, including Zubeydi, are still at large, and the search is on in the West Bank to where Palestinian forces have helped find fugitives in the past. They face a dilemma now, says Palestinian political scientist Right Naira is female authority is in. Uh, I'm going to a dilemma. The Palestinian Authority couldn't close the public mood and they want to open channels with the Israelis know what is, he says there could be violence if Palestinians help Israel find them or if the men are killed? Israel has clamped down on prisons and blocked Palestinian civilians from entering Israel, raising tensions as the search continues. Daniel Estrin. NPR news NAP Elice, The West Bank, You're listening to all things considered from NPR news. Hello. I'm Joe Martin Stand the film critic of The Wall Street Journal. The first distinction of this year's tenure. I'd film festival is that it took place last year It went dark during the pandemic. This year, the festival managed to take place actually, rather than virtually, and it did so dramatically as always, thanks to its spectacular place high up in the Rocky Mountains. Attendance was off peak. Pardon the pun. But the slate of new films renewed Good faith and movies. As larger than life images on vastly larger than living room screens At a time when the future of the theatrical mediums clouded at best. Two of my favorite films could hardly have differed, mourn substance, but they pulled off the same magic trick of wrapping potent themes and crowd pleasing packages. Belfast, written and directed by Kenneth Brana has set in 1969 so fictionalized recollection of his childhood at a moment of peril and promise for his family caught up in Northern Ireland sectarian violence they're confronted by an agonizing choice between staying in the city they love or making a new life in England. Will Smith Stars and King Richard. He's Richard Williams of Father and the tumultuous throws of raising five Children, two of them destined to be among the greatest tennis players of all time. So wonderful performance in a film that disarms whatever skepticism you may have had about Williams as the obsessive coach and ceaseless promoter of Venus and Serena Williams. Mainly King Richard is about tennis. Most importantly, though, it's about educating Children, giving them grounding and focus inspiring them. And since these are black Children growing up in Compton, keeping them safe from physical and emotional harm until they can take flight on their own. The festival's wittiest film was Marcel the Shell with shoes on a 90 minute version of the Stop Action YouTube collaborations between the director Dean Fleischer camp and the actress Jenny Slate. Marcel, As you may know, is a tiny, articulate, often anxious But ultimately fearless mollusc with one eye to shoes and the sea shell for protection from life's vicissitudes. I can't wait to see him and his movie again. Finally, one documentary was in the class by itself. It's called Hallelujah. Leonard Cone Journey a song and it's a densely detailed biography of the Canadian poet, singer and songwriter. But this majestic, almost symphonic production is also a chronicle of the singular song, Cohn wrote, revised and expanded over the course of decades. As well as in the count of how hallelujah has become a receptacle into which new generations of singers pour their musical souls. Like the song, whose title is an affirmation and the festival, which continues to honor cinema, the film affirms the value and power of making art. I'm Joe Morgenstern. I'll be back on KCRW next week with more reviews. Hi. I'm Lakshmi Singh outside of science fiction. You can't really travel anywhere in the blink of an eye. But NPR gets you close covering the.

"A couple of movies. Coming out. To god that i think you'll have some interest in will smith is going to play. King richard. The father of venus and serena williams richard williams and also net flicks is making finally and this has been in talks for ever. Everyone has been wanting to make the documentary on the malice at the palace. And it was thought stu gods that that was never going to get made because the nba would never allow the footage to be used. The nba would never sign off on anybody being able to bring that night back because it was such a blight for the nba. So i'd really love to know the backstory. I'd love to talk to the directors. I'd like to get to the bottom of how it is. Everybody's been trying to do that. Documentary for a now because the personalities are so interesting but it was thought that that footage was going to be impossible to get am shocked by it. Do we know if they have the footage they have to have the footage for the film wondering like what's changed their. Because i'm with you. I never thought documentary would be made. I don't know if it's david stern passing away. I saw in the trailer. The trailer had the footage. And i don't know if that's a social media thing i'd like to know more. I'm speaking ignorantly now when i tell you. I simply don't know how they got the footage and i was of the opinion because i've heard this talked about for so long to get everybody's been wanting to make that documentary. It's an easy documentary to make. We remember that time because we we lived through what it is the details were and nostalgia. Sports documentaries are where it's at right now and you're not gonna get a more interesting subject matter then. Millionaire black dudes with corn rows and braid punching the white customers in a way that when it happened. I remember and we've talked about this before. Stu got stephen a smith the late john saunders. A bunch of people on espn started blaming the fans. The way that we blame the fans now when kyrie irving gets bottle thrown at him or russell westbrook gets popcorn thrown at him and then the conversation changed ten to fifteen hours later. I wonder what's skipper and charge. Then no that would have been skipper right. That was before skipper. We wouldn't. I'd i'd love to know why and how that conversation change. But it was clear that someone on on the very top of disney or somewhere change the conversation because that weekend on the sports reporters it went from blaming the fan to blaming the players and the entire tone of the conversation ended up changing over twelve hours from immediate reaction to something decidedly different over the course of the weekend and i would just love all of that explored. We all have reasons that we remember that incident For me it was jamaal. Tinsley coming back onto the dustpan i mean and i need answers. I need the backstory on that trump densely i do. They've got jermaine o'neal they've got metta world peace. Then ron our tests. They're talking to some of the people. And i look forward to watching both of those movies because i i don't think will. Smith's career has been the same since he did ali. The degree of difficulty on will smith's career has been extraordinary. He went from being successful in music. Being successful in television to a performance in ali that i thought was worthy of an oscar and then over the last few years has not been anything special but he has chosen a project. That is super interesting to me. Because to god's richard williams very much invaded the country club with competent. I could see how it is that that project would appeal to will smith and i'm looking forward to that but as we talk about the mixture of race and sports i want to talk to you guys a little bit a little more about what we saw with simone biles because this broke during our show the other day and then what happened after. That was pretty predictable. And stu gotz. It's pretty awful. What is happening throughout this country other countries you should see how the kremlin russia talk about. Simone biles i mean. it's it's super despicable. It's like something out of ari nation. I could read you. Some of the quotes coming out like talking to sixty minutes from the kremlin on simone biles and just how they talk about black athletes but predictably piers morgan shit stain. Charlie kirk all three of those ended up going just the easy place. Old white guy going after black athlete and just repeat rinse repeat on that particular formula. But how much have you read about. Simone biles and the specifics. To god's of something i'd never heard of before the twisties have you heard of the twisties stott not until recently until it actually happens. Whatever happened happened to simone biles and then everyone started using the term twisties and and the mental aspect and her not knowing what she was doing when she was actually out doing the thing that she does best in the air. It's the hips for gymnasts. And gymnasts know the terminology and one of the many things at play here because we can do all sorts of think pieces about all of this stugatz. This is a woman under a great deal of duress for a lot of reasons that have nothing to do even with the olympics the world stage and things. We've seen her conquer before a brother acquitted of murder stugatz. You don't know the mental strain of that. A nassar sexual abuse survivor. You don't know the damage of that. A black person in america competing at this time in an empty arena for that flag..

"You're like what is going on. And then the conspiracy theory helps you to simplify that. And it's like okay. I get it. Yeah that's part of the cabal. That i already knew was sketchy so then it adds qualities and it adds it adds benefits in addition but that might have not been the first draw why you were drawn to it in the first place and then on the other hand some people might not care so much about the content of a conspiracy theory but like the the qualities of it so like qualities what i mean by that is that conspiracy theories are often counter. A normative so you kind of stick out you. Sometimes i don't know where they can use that word but i sometimes piss someone off and that okay fan thanksgiving dinner and then you know all these contrary teenagers who just say crazy stuff to piss their parents off right. And it's like a similar thing like a conspiracy theories contrary and you stick out and people even talk about you because you're crazy person but like at the end of the day it makes you feel special and people one way or the other care about you and us seen so it's not so much aboud the conspiracy theory content. It could be any sort of either. It could be the conspiracy theory that you believe in lizard. People are the flat earth or whatever. It doesn't matter what matters is that you stick out and that it helps you to satisfy this needle feeling special. And that i. I would argue these very different pathways would makes eastern iskoe's models so fantastic to me is that she is part of a group of scientists who prefer the term conspiracy narratives instead of conspiracy theories which is why she and her colleagues us so many movie metaphors in their paper in germany there researchers that i really admire. We're studying conspiracy theories to and they refer to it as conspiracy narratives which i like. Yeah and that. I think is what we're studying. That's what we are referring to when we talk about people burning down five towers because they think this is the actual reason for the covert nineteen symptoms. So there's like and that kind of captures what it is right. It's like a narrative it's not based on any profound evidence it is cherry picked. It's oftentimes not falsifiable. It's just like any sort of counter evidence is integrated. It's very unlikely to chew. And this is what we're talking about when we talk about conspiracy theories. Yeah so. I think it's similar to picking a movie in terms of like which conspiracy theories are you drawn to like pick in quotation marks. When we think about a movie kid either think about okay. I wanna have a horror movie tonight. I wanna have a really shocker. I feel that way and then it's like what you care about in the movie. When you scroll netflix. It's a shocker. And it doesn't matter which actors actually in it which location is a place is it in the. Us is in canada. Like that's not the point. The point is that you want to go out of it. And that is. I think comparable to someone who wants to feel unique. Go once understand the world being drawn to a conspiracy theory for that reason because it's non normative. It doesn't really matter if it's like that. Earth lizard people like hookah as it is kinda nominative whereas some people might really enjoy a movie movie. In which will. Smith stars or julia roberts and drawn to go through netflix. And i was like okay. Let's look at the movies where this actor is staring. I really like that..

"Know. I know how to get close to him but once you're in boston what do you do doesn't your sister at. Yeah exactly didn't use to teach it. I mean you could just look him up in the phone book and send it directly to him. That doesn't count. that doesn't breaks it. That would be like. I wonder if you did today. Would you count People you kind of know on twitter. That's a weird social para social thing. What is in. And as we'll see like determining exactly what constitutes a connection is also part of what makes this facebook. It's like i'm friends with a bunch of people you know. That's why my to make it. A sex act is a big improvement. Although for some people know virtual we'll know for some people they never know the last names of the people they affect them or at least halfway and what they found was that it was. You know you could. You could the the very few of them that made it to him. Made it through to him through relatively small number of social links like three or four to get a postcard from some random person in omaha. Wichita and that's even without any design of somebody trying to somebody with knowledge of how to find the shortest way two steps away. Yeah this is just like my brother lives in boston. Or i knew a guy went to high school but of course. These are people in omaha. Wichita that had addresses in the phone book so which would be more common then. So they right. They wrote several articles for that. We're kind of like this. This was all this was all kind of fun like so much of mathematics and sociological research. At the time. I mean even the stuff that was very political. It also still felt kind of richard fineman level of like play. It wasn't i mean. I think now the political ramifications of all this stuff kind of imbues it with an extra layer of sort of fraught. Fear mean like how we bubble ourselves off ideologically. Now how silo ourselves professionally. Yeah see but the the actual research paper kind of never got published. It got published in a couple of magazine articles but but the research paper just got handed around among among other mathematicians and inspired a lot of people to investigate different different versions of this. So the the idea and you would think that that the actual play six degrees of separation which was written as you said by john gear. That are you. Say john wear it. Looks like are the band. John g well except with an e at the yankees a of guadeloupe his nineteen ninety play. It's care it's gary. I don't know if you say the you. Oh it's like gear like like war. What is it good. For whom the average of combat soldier vietnam's in nineteen john. John guera. John gares where square john. G- wears nineteen ninety. Six degrees of separation was it was. It was kind of assumed that that that idea came from well. At least from his academic or from carinthia's story which was pretty well known in hungary he claims that he got the idea from marconi's nineteen o nine nobel prize speech. So i mean he's obviously more more erudite than we expected. But yeah. I couldn't really rattled off too. Many things from marconi's just as a literary trope and i'm me and you are you. I'm zero degrees for me. But the play. The play was very successful. The play starred stockard channing among other luminaries and it went through various various touring companies and it introduced the idea somewhat into the popular culture. So that at least that literary culture putting in the title is a big is a big power move you know. Even if you don't know see. I didn't i had never seen the play or the movie and i still. I didn't know how the idea works. But i knew the idea because it was the title. Yeah right you understood. That understood the concept and the movie got made in In nineteen winded them become a nineteen ninety. Four nineteen ninety-three The will smith starring the will smith vehicle six degrees of separation really really introduced it into mainstream consciousness and nine hundred four on some one of those inside the actors studio interviews with kevin bacon kevin. Bacon was talking about how he had been in movies. Just kind of he was as joking aside. He said you know he. He felt like he had worked. He was coming. Big is very prolific actor and character actor who has played supporting roles in so many films with so many big star. Maybe more than may be more of those kind of movies than a big star would be. You know a big star might make one or two of those year. A actor who works only ten days on the movie might might make three or four big movies a year. And you see kevin bacon when you look at his. Cv righties in animal house. He's in he's in a hundred movies that you wouldn't right where he passes through. He's got a few lines. He's perfect for this because he's the kind of person everybody knows who he is because he's got a few iconic roles but also you just see him everywhere he's not one of those that guys because you can also name him right. It probably doesn't hurt that. His name is bacon house so just somebody for this game. Yeah like why not somebody whose name as well as their facing career memorable right instead of moscow. On-air somebody exactly bahar bahar to do well. Yeah kinda roll off the tongue. Actually six degrees. Jack klugman that nobody wants to play sixties but kevin kevin bacon just suggested this as kind of a i mean he was he was he was definitely not trying to precipitate a game or even a challenge but it was a group of college students at albright college in nineteen ninety four. Who were kind of having a kevin bacon film fest there in the dorm and watched footloose.

"The uber humans there they are above us in all ways. Why do we have to then just reinvent the stereotypes that we have here on the planet with society. Why can't you know why can't the goddess says be absolutely rips and like amazing and just as violent and vicious men and always kind of annoyed me and obviously historically. I totally get why. It's like that that you know that a lot of the goddess is always will link to things that were very feminine. You know childbirth or your mother nature of growing things like that and i understand that from a historical perspective but if we're looking at something in creating our narratives in the style over inspired by is great see women get more opportunity to branch out and be something other than what they've always been restricted down to absolutely so historically speaking have we basically just said the gold's all just subject to the same gender paste of power and abilities as we see in human heroes. This is something we talk about a lot on this show about power being brutal and physical and female. Power being intuitive magical. Is this a pattern. That repeats like in all golds. And that's why we're know it's why have for example wanted to say okay. No i've got a chance to create my own pantheon of gods i'm gonna do something that We don't usually see. Yeah i agree. I mean you see so many human heroes and gods kind of having almost gendered roles and i really liked genevieve in your book. How much she kind of walked away from that. And i really liked anger voter having a lot of power so much parent the odin. The king of the gods was like I think i'm going to see if i can convince to you. Here is a bit smarter than me so i mean did you have fun playing around with these ideas of gender power or was it something that you actually found within the north north maine mythology itself. Oh that's absolutely in the mythology odin such an interesting god in terms of gender and practicing quote unquote women's magic which like historically like men didn't practice that kind of magic. But i i think odor than just got away with it because he needs the highest the gods quote unquote But yet the the norse smith star. There's a there's a lot to unpack with odin and Yeah i did. Interview With Will Smith, Star Of Gemini Man, And Many Other Entertainment Projects

"My guess my guess is Academy Award nominated actor whose new film is called Gemini Ma'am Please Welcome Will Smith the the it's all we have time for it was worth it back to the show my friend I am so happy to be here good to see you you look happy yes I mean you always look happy but I'm honestly going you look happy yes this this this last year has probably been the best year of my adult life what does what when when people that then they normally mean like oh I got a raise or go to but you will Smith show as if will Smith says this has been the best job what were the other ones it's like why would you say that what does that mean you know own my own my fiftieth birthday I jumped out I did to bungee jumping helicopter over to Grand Canyon and the white people told you to do yes I remember that remember that it's why you need white friends that's true that is true so did the bungee out of the helicopter right but it was it was it was a bigger thing than that for me right I had painted myself into a little bit of a of a will smith corner right so there were there were things that because I had kids and because I was Smith there were things I couldn't say and things I couldn't do in certain projects I couldn't take and I sort of painted myself into a little bit of a fearful corner and that that sort of a moment where I told myself that's it I'm going to I'm going to do what I want I'm going to say what I want I'm GonNa live the way I want without the fear of somehow losing something that was precious I've created and I've I've vince more free and more joyous and more peaceful than in in a weird way I feel like that is the story of Gemini Man exactly is in the film you play the best assassin in the world right and you play this man and he goes you know what I'm done with the game the game's not done with you receive credit they send the younger version of you just to when kill you yes because that's the only person good enough yes because I'm so good the only way the meek get killed you have to be me the crazy concept while technology but and I know you've talked about that a lot but but I mean this this is another challenge I mean we've seen you seen you play all sides all types of characters we've seen you just be the only person in the movies you in a dog Yes yes and now you know I'm going to be me fighting against yeah I just don't need actors man it was about what's challenging about playing old will Smith and young girls in the same scene so you know what what is the host difficult part is like playing youth right so there's a naievety right youth and there's a look in in ones is when they really don't know right right but then as you get older there's like a certain thing that is it just gets in your in your blood and when you know things right so having to go back and play young like like it's like sex right you can't on Sex many times I want to show you let me say Hi so before you have sex before you have sex right so you have sex before you have said right right right right okay that's presets he said and then the first time you have sex it changes your back okay right in writing so as an as an actor is it actor you can't unring that bell you know rights so you have to really go back and I went back and I studied some old material which was try to find youthful naivety let me ask you this though you are will smith and I know this sounds like unflattering you but you know go with that full of vulnerability that comes with acknowledging that you are aging as will smith you know that that was a that was another part of the experience that I had like Carney fifty I've never I've never really thought about age and felt that that way but like lashing well I turned fifty five in front of it like the fact like forty was cooled thirty school like fifty was like whoa man we need to jump out a helicopter you're not really it hit me a little bit but the accepting being older and even for Gemini Man a lot of those things came up and previous life and you think about the Karma the mistakes you've made and what would you not do you know if you had known and all of those things came up but it but I've solved the problem I am I am having an absolute ball with my life right now one thing that has fascinated me about you for a long time you were an aw TV poor you will will Smith so we'll smooth we knew in private man you're at you're at and you in magazines and but we didn't know will Smith right right right all of a sudden we saw Wilson on Youtube we so wh Smith on instagram but we didn't we didn't see a curated will smith we saw will smith teasing his kid and having fun with them goofing around with Jada we see will smith going hey man I'm a human being there was also a mega stop but I'm a human being I feel I love I love I don't take myself that seriously rumor that that in of itself is a big chance and the steps to take as a person why do you why do you keep doing it so what would when I I was setting out to become a said I'm going to be the biggest movie star in the world and that was pre internet it was pre- social media life so during that time the idea was you couldn't be a movie star if you didn't maintain mystery gripe on it so the the common belief was nobody's going to go to a movie theater if they see you every day right so you would stay out and you would pain the mystery and the only time they get to see you is the fourth of July on the big screen right right so what happened was as social media came there was a there was a shift and I was trying to hold on for for a little while and I realized that the new mentality is Nobody's coming to the movie theater if they don't see you every day right people want to feel like they're friends they wanNA know so it's a completely different shift another thing happened for me with social media I was I was I had so many creative ideas. that were were dying on the vine inside of me God right so when you put out a movie Gemini Man might be two and a half years from the time we started until it comes oh so that's one piece of content in two and a half years but what social media is allowing me to do is all of those ideas and all of those concepts get to come out with your I was experiencing creative constipation right so the Internet has like laxative right stuff Eh let me let me ask you this before you go you know who said I was going I the EU will Smith but I am pleased to be that's that's like an immediate assumption you would have a person when you watch that movie but being a parent means you are a man you know you already have many to your kids what do you hope they will change in their lives while still maintaining what you've gotten to get you to this level you know from this this time and and doing and I man and looking at those questions came up and what what I really found is nobody can know for you typed people can know for themselves but they can't they can't know for you right I was making the decision when I graduated from high school between music and going to college and my mother said you'll you'll never make anything of yourself if you don't go to college right and you know that was that was true for her right it wasn't true for me right so I've learned and with my kids I got
