"With us right now i saw hockey stick chart on manufacturing in america doesn't matter details are the answer is it's something we're not used to i have a chart that went back i got a explosion of the million years ago of manufacturing labor to our nation in america and basically the back was broken in nineteen seventy and then really broken in two thousand can we have a manufacturing renaissance in america well we can we can have uh... it increasing share of manufacturing uh... uh... in the economy uh... but these are things slow moving beast in the decline in manufacturing over time is taking decades uh... to play out with larger step downs as you said in the seventies and then is after the w t o in china's rise right more more pronounced after that uh... and so i think you know i think we've got something exciting going on right now i think we're digging into the data and we're seeing that and especially if you go around the country you talk to small manufacturers in the country which i have done and they'll tell you that they're starting to get more and more domestic orders of people that are onshoring and they're feeling the effect of they at least feel that their business is picking up now uh... this feels like it could be the start of something we're seeing something there is some onshoring story there there's some nearshoring story there i think the story around mexico's benefit nearshoring is exciting there is a lot of infrastructure building going on across the country um... state and local governments have been ramping up hiring around that as well so i think there's something going on in manufacturing here that is exciting but that's a smaller share of the economy than the services and katie one of the unspoken zero through june is is mexican peso stunning in its Mexican peso strength through twenty through nineteen through eighteen you're gonna get a sixteen handle on mexican peso at some point which is i never thought i'd see that yeah and it's you know important to remember because we talk how about strong and resilient the dollar has been all the time but there's definitely some pairs where that is quite not true but allen of course we have you on monday we get the jobs report on friday is there anything that we could get it eight thirty a m on friday that would take the fed off the course for twenty five basis hike later this month yes we've given us a lot of thought so we we have these road maps to each fed decision that we produce of here's the what we think the data will look like in hand and this is what we think their response will be and because it seems like yet yesterday to dependent but it feels like they're sort of locked in for this july hanging uh... i the think the bar is just a lot lower than we thought it would be uh... that they you would have to uh... for the data to say don't hike and so i think it would be a payroll print less than a hundred thousand because right really that would get the market thinking maybe they're not gonna hike in july and then still wait for that c p i print to do the rest of the the job what if you got a downside surprise in cpa as well then i think that would be the final uh... you know box to tick off the says okay doesn't have to be a july hike right i think it would still keep the fed saying hey there still may be more to do i think there's still been asymmetric hiking bias but i think it would have to be some pretty big downward misses for them to not hike hike in july yeah definitely an important point that we do have a c p i before we do get to that july vision but when you look at and i don't want to get too short term here but when you look at sort of the expectations that are baked in for the fed to go ahead in july for you know probably the labor strength that we've been seeing to continue with june's report what do you think would prompt the bigger reaction in markets is it is it an upside surprise or a downside surprise you know i think it would be a downside surprise because the the market is is you know the fed's been really successful here the market is saying okay they're on this hiking bias and we're gonna uh... i give them the benefit of the doubt that it could be two additional hikes from here not just one additional hiker no hikes or even pushing out the expectation they could be cutting before the end of the year i think the market has really grabbed onto that narrative and the data has helped support that so i think it would be a downside surprise it would probably get bigger the reaction are we partitioned where part of the american public has a two percent unemployment rate and another part of the public has a seven percent unemployment rate yeah how does morgan i can only see the quintile makeup or decile makeup well look it's more around you know sort the poor the bottom decile has done well off the pandemic right they have from government support which is now ended uh... they have off of a tight labor market which is increased labor income and wage growth uh... especially for low wage paying service sectors but we're only just now seeing real wage gains positive so it was really you know inflation was still saying wage gains for those folks divergence between sort of those with a seven percent unemployment rate and those with a two percent it's really you go all the way to like a thirteen percent unemployment rate and those with a two that has always been the case it's always been the case so what i look at is has unemployment rate been been improving across all uh... all of of uh... by ethnicity uh... by age uh... by geographic location like has it been improving across all groups guess it has uh... and we are back to the kind of uh... tight labor market for the the most underserved in the country being just as good or as tight as it was pre -pandemic yeah i i look at this and alan you know you they know said to me can we get center for the monday before fourth of july and stream and and and and chile as well but you know folks this is really a sacrifice on the part of the ellen zentner because she's going to take an infinite fly rod that i can't afford and go out in the river this is you the zentner don't know fly fishing with zentner did you do the saltwater thing the seychelles not as big on saltwater fly fishing i do like saltwater but not to fly you go to jackson yeah you go to jackson all the smith river salmon river jellystone river and all all of it but patagonia we had listeners today emailing in from with your appearance here So you've traveled to these sacred sites, right? Machu Picchu, the pyramids in Egypt, et cetera, and shaft up being one of these kind of power centers that's widely known. What was your experience there? I talked about it with the incredible spring that's there, but Shasta has this really funny kind of Bigfoot alien mystique around it, where there is a pretty decent swath of subculture people that think that there's actually a civilization living inside Lake Shasta underground and the stories get pretty crazy around that area for some reason. Did anything Supernatural or interesting transpire when you were there? Were you impressed by it in any way? I always had my second favorite place on the planet. Really? Yeah. And what's first? I know the Dead Sea. Of course. I know the story of the lemurians and the telos beings that exist there. For me, I haven't had any of those experiences of interaction with beings, but the reason I call it my second favorite place is the water. I just love the different water expressions there and having a conversation or earlier how important water is. So you've got Stuart springs just up the road. I think that's actually quite a hot spring place. Yeah. Epic. Yeah. Did you go in the tubs inside? Yes, the tub is on and then the fresh water. Dude, when I went in, I was up at this farm called belcampo up there a few years ago. And of course, everywhere I go, the first thing I do is Google where's the Hot Springs. The first thing. I don't Google. I hate that word. I web search it. Google's evil. Don't kick me off there, please, Google. I use your drive a lot. So I find that hot spring and I go there. And I had said something like there was a sign on the wall that said, you know, don't get a massage in this water or something like that. And I was like, oh, whatever interesting. And so I went in, even though you're in a room by yourself, I wore shorts because I wanted to be able to go jump in the cold creek and not have to get dressed and undressed every time. And dude, I got like these micro cuts all over my legs and stuff. I think from my shorts touching some chards of minerals or something. Did you experience that? I was like bleeding from just sitting in this tub. This is the weirdest thing ever. Oh, you hadn't gone from the tub to the sauna. I did both, but so what happens is when you get out of the tub. It still has all of the, because it's such a hypertonic solution. It's actually the closest water I've seen to the Dead Sea water. Really? Yeah, you know how it feels like silk makes a very strange smell. Yeah, yeah, it's not sulfur smell like some Hot Springs. It's a totally, it's almost like ammonia. Yeah. It's a very strange smell. It's a different mineral expression. Yeah. And so when you get out of that water and your shorts dry, they go like cardboard. So without you noticing it, when you're walking, salt is actually crystallized light. So they'd be sharp components. That would have been giving you chafe. Yeah, it was very, because it wasn't like, you know, like if you took sandpaper and rubbed your arm where it just all turned generally red and was irritated. They were little cuts. They were actually bleeding. Because it would have been crystals. So like the points of the crystals were probably scratching your skin. As you were walking incredible strength, one to the sauna. Okay, noted if I'm ever back there again, I won't do that. So Shasta for you, the magic of that area is really about the water. So between the spring water around the mountain and then that hot spring. Correct. Wow, that's pretty impressive considering the travel you've done. Yeah, that it really left that impression. Yeah, and the redwoods as well. I mean, they're an incredible being and once you go a little bit further north, you've got the Smith river and the rogue river and Crater Lake. So just that whole area. But yeah, I feel Shasta and Oregon has the best water on the planet actually. Second to New Zealand. Yeah, it feels very inductive to me. Yeah, I agree. What about Machu Picchu? That's somewhere I've not been on my kind of reserve bucket list, not the first bucket list, but it'd be nice, you know, but it's not like I'm dying to get there. Did you have any interesting experiences there? Or anything that informed your worldview, career, projects, et cetera? I did, yeah. So Machu Picchu has three main mountains you can climb. And the main mountain that everyone thinks is much picture is actually winter picture. The picturesque one. So Machu Picchu itself is much higher. And only about 20 people a day climate because wherever you are 2 p.m., you have to come back down because I don't want to risk people running out of light. Yeah, I climbed match picture made it to the top and I remember doing a meditation at the top and woke up and there was a condor. In front of me. And no way. Yeah, yeah, and condors don't usually go to those altitudes. And it was interesting because Brad, who I told you about my business partner had given me a book to read called the celestine prophecy, like years before, and I hadn't read it. And I felt like I wanted to read it on my way to Peru. I was trying to find the book couldn't find it anywhere I got to the airport, went to the bookshop. They said, no, we don't have it. They said, there's one other book shot like miles away. So I walked over to that other bookshop to see if they had it. And I was sitting on the counter next to the register. The last one that they had. So I was actually reading the celestine prophecy on the plane on the way over, and it literally felt like that kind of journey. As I was traveling through the sacred valley, to get the match picture, then had the meditation and it was quite early for me. It was 2013. So it was quite early in the journey. But it was still very beautiful. At the bottom in match, which you village, there's Hot Springs again. Really? Yeah. All right, I'm on it. Yeah, yeah. The amazing thing with that is you'll do this huge hike during the day. You come down, you get in the Hot Springs, and then in the morning you feel like you haven't even walked. It's this so rejuvenating, right? So it's a great example. Again, of the minerals. Of how rejuvenating and revitalizing they are and then you go

So you've been out for what an hour and a half Any action yet? We just got all six rods put in the water and the tie just started so the action should pick up here shortly. Okay, Well, that's good. How deep water you fishing. We are currently sitting and 75 ft of water. We're efficient, the deeper how much weight do you have on 16 ounces. This is just a £1 away to get Yeah, Yeah. One way we have a little Don't Dolan Way have a little delay between when I say some and you can hear me so I apologize. Let's just try to work through that. Um, uh, Your guys have been fishing down there. The sturgeon fishing where you were going great guns about a month ago, about three weeks ago. Then you went back to new Maloney's has a sturgeon fishing taken another uptick there in that Pittsburgh area. The bike is still off the hook out here. Wow. Uh, so you guys were catching between. If I remember you had a couple boats and you were catching Maybe 8 to 10 sturgeon, including You know, Keepers, shakers and oversize is that that good still Yes, it is, Bob. You know the outgoing tide been pretty productive first thing in the morning then that incoming tide dies off a little bit. But we're still picking fish up. Ripple get bit right now. Idea deficient still remains excellent out here. The guys that were out yesterday after Lewton smash them. That's good. What tide is best. The outgoing tide has been productive first thing in the morning. Then we move over to the shallow water on the incoming tide because it's a little quicker. And we didn't take enough fish on the incoming as well. Okay. And of course you're using row. Absolutely. Okay, let's jump back to New Malone. As you've been catching trout. You found some nice trout in the £3 class a little deeper. Tell us about that. Yeah, I started looking in the main river channels and we found some baked down 65 to 90 ft, So I switched over to Roland Shad down deep. And it's been quite productive. Get away from those small planets form. And you gotta start fishing for crop E. You're gonna book trips for crop E starting next week. Is that correct? That's correct, Bob. I'll be on New Maloney's Tomorrow morning Jason Karate. And the 1st 2.5 Weeks book, But the third week I'll be taken reservations for karate. Good deal. Well, thank you. Good luck today. Sturgeon fishing. I'm dying to find out how you did and I definitely want to talk to you next week after your first week of crop efficient. Thank you, Kyle. Absolutely, and also send you some pictures later this afternoon, Bob. Good. Thanks a lot. Have a good day. That's Kyle Wise Headhunter guide service. This is driving me crazy is the way you can see what's going on here have no idea what's happened. Kyle's number 2095313966 about that. We've had two crappy guides on the same program. It's getting to be real popular again. Kyle's number 2095313966 No, I wanted to, uh, give you another insight on steelhead fishing. Here again. We're going to start back over on the Smith River. But wait till you hear what Mario Gomez has to say. About fishing on the Klamath. Mario Europe on the coast. You fish, the Smith River today I hear it's been kind of sluggish as far as catching fish. What's going on here? Yeah, Bob. It's been tough, You know? I mean, there's probably 20 or 30 guides out today and Everyone had about the same thing to say one or two opportunities, you know, and a lot of folks weren't able to seal the deal. When they didn't get a bite. We hooked one and locked it. That's about it for us. Yeah, uh, Well, that's that's tough fishing. Now. You know, the snow was so low. Do you think that colder water Eyes having an effect on the fish. Yeah, it might, You know, might of it was really cold this morning. It was probably 32 degrees in Brookings and about the same and Hioki So it was cold, but I had to do with it for sure. Of course, that's almost pure snow water coming down there now. Yep. Yeah, it was. It was very chilly this morning. I did. I did see some fish, though, so I know there's some fish in there. But They're hanging out in the tail out, and when I went over top of them, they guarded out from underneath the boat. But they weren't wanted to bite. Did they scatter when you went over him? They didn't really scatter. They just kind of moved up a little bit. You know, they moved about 6 ft. Then they stopped. I'll be dog gone. That's crazy. Yeah, there was about 15 of them their due right in this one little pocket in this bailout. Uh huh. Bitch. I'll bet you It's a temperature thing. You know, it'll take him a couple days to adjust. I mean, that's not unusual..

"Of happened in the last week. Usually we're sitting down here in the Valley dry as a bone and you guys were having river's going to flood stage. Uh, although this time, I think snow prevented that from happening. What happened started with the beginning of the week. Oh, well, then it was we had pretty good position. Right? Right. The first of the week here on the Ted Koppel did good. I mean, I landed a couple 234 fish a day for a few days. And then that storm hits and man it was it didn't put wasn't predicted, be big but end up being bid, And then it was cold. So it put the check a river out. But with the snow so level so low that the Smith River student I mean, it was actually low. Unclear. Still, until that still sort of melt a little bit more. We got more rain, but yeah, but it was it was good. So then and right now. We have sunny skies. Other rivers. Uh, When are they going to be fit? Is a Smith still fishable on this, miss? Fine. Oh, the Smith is actually really good right now. I didn't finish it today. I had clients who couldn't make it from upper Upper Oregon. So I didn't go today, But the conditions were just like yesterday was good. I see more first landed on the Smith and I haven't a week. So that was a good thing. Very good. It wasn't quite so many in my boat. But there was a few fish got so Yeah, well, there's something moving in. Yeah, And now that we have that snow pack, the Smith should Keep running pretty good, shouldn't it? Oh, yeah. No, that's Mr You know what? We got a big, strong, sensible to hit us on Sunday night, and it's gonna push it up because it's gonna be It's gonna be quite a bit of rain, but it's gonna be snow a pie, so it'll it'll push it probably to the limit. But by after right after that, with the cold, cold snow pack. I don't just drop real quick. It'll be fit within a day or so. And the check. Oh, Snowpack. Uh, help a little bit. I see. It's not quite a muddy that have been So that's a good thing. I think we might have got little slides. And it's actually clearing a little bit more. It may be fishing in the next day or so, but problems. We've got another storm coming by behind us. So you know I'll be questionable was for about another week. I would bet You might sneak a day and if you're lucky, in other words, Yeah, well, I'm planning on. I think I'll get in, uh, tomorrow in Sunday and that zip across my finger. That's what I'm hoping for. And then that's going to put a hit on Sunday afternoon and lay all day all night Sunday. And once it once the check. Cope, I mean, literally blows out. How long is it? You know once the rain starves How long is it before it's fishable again? Well, you know, this year we've got so much mud coming down from all the locking we had on the upper Checco from the burn that hit us come few years ago. Now we're getting more run off this money or faster in stays longer, So it's been a little bit longer than normal. So if it stops raining supposed to stop after Sunday, boom it just and I showed it drop is really good. And I would say about four or five days. I'm thinking, but earlier we're hoping So it's gonna take that much time to get that back down. You're supposed to get up to about 25,000 cfs. Oh, boy. That's wrong Room. Yeah, it's going. It's up there, but at the same time, it'll drop almost a spastic coming down. So that zing with the snow snow there so That's a cross our fingers for it. So, Albert, are you still happy with the quality of the fish? They seem to be a little bit bigger than average. You know what we're seeing? E think it will release all those big fish a while. You know that first few weeks, you know, And now we're seeing about averages. I think I'm hearing anything real busier lately last few days, I think I heard a couple of the team, But other than that, that first week we have those big ones, but I'd like to see some more of them. So they're I'm sure they're gonna be there. Just that we haven't seen the number of fish that we would see so With his next big storm. We'll get a bump in our numbers. You know, it'll be pushing up. They're good for That's our cuts Key, and that seems to be the concern of everyone everywhere is there's no lack of fish, but there's a lack of numbers of fish. It's very puzzling because we've had all the weather that brings these fishing. And usually when we're talking about the check Owen Smith rivers these storms bring. I mean they bring lots of fish in the drift boats can see schools of fish as they float down River. Right now, though, what's happened? I think you're going to hear another report before the the program's over about seeing fishing to Smith River, but it was very, very tough fishing and you hit you heard Matt Mitchell talk about how the water temperature was 40 degrees in a Trinity. It's probably that in the Smith because the snow level is so low, that's ice water coming down there. And that not that you can't catch fish in that cold water. But if it was, like 43 or 44 degrees, it would be a huge difference. 40 is right on that. That's a very tough temperature. So Al's number 5309413474 were still We still have hope that there's going to be schools of fish in all these coastal rivers, and some do move up. The Eel River might be a better indication when that comes into shape. Of numbers of fish in some of our coastal waters, as will the Russian river. As soon as that drops and clears as well, we keep you posted on all those rivers next week. Okay. After the break, we're going to talk to Ed Ligon, who is a crappy.

"And I'm not hearing anything from the bay. So what is going on? That zah strange here, very effective for them. Okay. Clyde will thank you. God, I sure hope you find some fish this week. I do, too. Okay. Bye. Bye. Clyde wants Well, let's switch to, um The North Coast Alcott ski You fish. The Smith River yesterday the only river that was fishable yesterday, all all the whole north coast and it was touch and go. But I did talk to Al Yesterday about what happened. Albert. The Checco was in shape today. Did you fish it today? It's just coming in. Probably today. I didn't Fisher today I fished on the Smith River today. So check that was just on that. Just on the verse. I think tomorrow will fish. Okay. And how is this? I heard the Smith was high. There was a lot of pluggers and even some of the drift voters were plunking. Oh, yeah. No, it was high. I mean, we got that Tuesday. We got five inches of rain here, So Yeah, everything was out for a little bit. They were fucking yesterday did Okay Today there was a few fish cod, not a whole bunch. But it was love their condition today. So do you feel that there's uh Usually when the river's high the plungers will get him sound like they did, But you feel that there's good numbers of fish in the Smith yet. You know what? I don't think there's a ton of fish in there yet. There's a few. I mean, all the boats were out there today. There was probably what you don't 15 to 20 votes today. And I've heard of 678 Fish got Huh? There's not a ton of it. No time yet. I tell you what, Bob. The quality of the fish we've seen is great so far this year. Say again. The quality of the fish are really good this year. Okay? You're already I mean, yes, I heard a 30 39 against Carter last last week was 39 Inch, sir. Today. I landed one That was exactly 40 inches in my vote. Oh, my goodness. What do you suppose that Wade? You know what if it has a little bit more bigger shoulders in private 22 £23, but it was right around 20. Well, that's a good long after the long, long bucket just you know, it's just something else. But it was. It was good to see and I've heard of a couple other twenties already, too. Well, that is good news. I mean, let's face it. The 8 to 12 pounders were fun, and that's what everybody goes for a chance to get a £20 steel here that's pretty rare. Don't tell me, you know. Nowadays it seems like it's even let more rare. And is that the guy fish today is a friend of mine, And he was just by himself today. Well last week he led one that was 39 a half inches in was £20. Also so you've got two in one week. It's not fair, Albert. It's not fair. You know, but he hasn't got anything like that His whole life, So he's put in a lot of years. So he's getting paid for back now. Yeah. There you go. There you go. What were you using? They get that Today. We use mostly, uh well. Bait and puff all in rubber bead. Okay. The rubber beads seem to be taken over off. They work pretty good there. Just you know that perfectly round and they just float good, and they're always the right color and always the right shape. So I think it's just it's good luck and I do work good. I mean, there's days that they want that smell, though, so I look, there's a little bit of both. That's Alcott ski. I'll tell you that Guy's a good fisherman. I know that there was not that many fish caught on the Smith River. Yesterday, he pulls out a 20 pounder. That's something his number to book a trip 5309413474. Well, we'll get another report on the Smith. If we have time on behold Eel River system on when that's gonna Actually the South Fork of the eel should be fishable tomorrow or Monday, probably Monday would be perfect. It's clear up it leg it now, So we just have to wait and see. And after the break, we're going to talk to a dawn. Paige Anneli about Clear Lake about fishing in the city. About Barry. Elsa, don't go away. Now. I want to tell you about Comanche Lake Comanche Lake, if you haven't heard You know when they dropped the stay at home order in the Sacramento region, will Amador County North Shore Command. She is in the sacrament of region. They are now open for camping. The South Shore is not open for camping, and that's another story. The fact is, that's in a different county. So that's how ridiculous all this is. But anyway, last week I drove through South Shore in North shore to every single campground. And let me tell you there's no hookups on the north shore or water or anything like that. You gotta bring your own water and all that, But let me tell you there's some nice sites there. You could get away from everything. Nice views. The whole works. The fit of planning program has been under believable. They planted over £26,000 of trout. Just this season starting in late fall. Now That's a lot of fish in that leg. Just recently. Just this week, some grass start to show up. This is a natural phenomena, you know, sometimes when the oxygen Kills the underwater plants, and it's a little bit of a nuisance slows fishing a little bit should not last more than a few days. In the meantime, some people are searching out some crop E. The South Shore pond. Of course, it's better when the first few days after the plant, but their plant almost every week s O command. "Steelhead on the north coast. A lot of people wait for that. Um, they wait for those big storms. The first big push of fish to come in. It really hasn't happened up to. Ah, about a week ago. You know, there was some minor storms, of course, the North Coast. The northwestern corner of California is a whole different climate and arrested his state. They get all that whether that misses the valley and goes up in Oregon and eventually Idaho. We don't get so they get a lot more rain, so, but there was a few storms up there. But that didn't bring in the amount officially thought back in December, But usually after January, 1st That's when it happens. If it does. Rain will Kenny Priest he's up there. He lived there. He guides there. He keeps an eye on things and I talked to him about that very situation yesterday. Any last weekend. We were expecting rain up North Open for the first big runs of steelhead. The Smith blew out the check. Oh, the eel all blew out. What's the latest wasn't a serious of storms and what's the situation now? Well, Yeah, it was definitely a serious of storms. There was two or three big ones that hit us and, you know, like predicted everything all the rivers blew out at one point or another, and where we are now is the only river that's really fishable or green is a Smith River. So since Sunday, the yield the Eel River south work, a deal and the check. Oh, they're all big and brown. So they're just they're just you know, too far out there still so we got a little bit of rain last night. You know which kind of its been kind of a yo yo all week so up, down, up down and the only one that survived that is Smith River. Okay, as usual. Okay, usual, And that's that's kind of what we predicted. Even though it's big. It was still green and you know people either punking or they're able to.

"It's appropriate to have Scott on right now, right after New Year's. Now that About 99% of the people on the planet Iran Diet. So let's see what he has in store for us. Good morning. Good morning. You know, I usually start out with a new year's something with black eyed peas or diet or whatever, but this time I went. I went duck hunting with Jake. We want with our friend Brett Butler of the district. 10 did really Well, Jake heads back up PICO and says, Dad, What am I gonna do with all these ducks and geese? So in spite of the fact that my son Jake, who's 23 now, and we announced his birth on the show 20 years ago. Accused your name naming him after a young turkey. Remember after a young turkey, right? So I sent him up Chico and talking through how to make a giant batch of Duck and goose stew. So I've got a spicy goose stew recipe that's on the sporting Chef website. But thing is here's There is one of the problems that he ran into. He brined it. And you and I have talked about Brian's forever. Never never You know the basic Brian a gallon of water cup each of kosher salt or any kind, of course salt and brown sugar. And so even though I told him make sure it's coarse salt, not table grind, Fine. Grind salt. What did he do? He used the fine grained salt. And so he said, Dad. My stew was really spice or was really salty, which help venture there's some people that have listened to the show that have had the same results because when you when you use a coarse salt right there bigger grain, so there's more air space in between the salt, so you're not getting as much salt in a cup. As opposed to the concentrated fine grind table salt, right, huh? I got you. So So when you do, bro, and you want to make sure that you cut back on the salt that you season it with, if you do happen to use Table salt by mistake. You've been still soak it in cold water and get some enough salt out. But anyway One of the great ways to use up a whole bunch of ducks and geese. If you're lucky enough to shoot him is to make a big pot of stew and you can freeze it and patches on what I do is I put it into a Ziploc bag. Freeze it and then vacuum seal it after it's been frozen. In that way, you don't worry about the juice coming out anyway. Back to this crew. So brown, Absolutely Brandon Upson, Dice bacon. You said bacon grease sooner have done the same thing with twinkly star. You want to get the grease in there? Takes and chunks of ducks, geese. Mixed bag doesn't matter Brown it really good throw in some chopped onion, celery, carrots. If you want it spicy. Put it a little jalapeno and some garlic and just get it until those onions are translucent. There was some beef broth or better yet, if you made some broth out of some duck and goose bodies a little worse, just served rosemary and a can of diced tomatoes or if you want it more tomato, two cans of right of diced tomatoes. Bring it to a boil. Put a lid on it and then lower the heat and just let it simmer because you got to go low and slow because we don't want medium rare in these things. We want him to be more tender follow for a lot of people like so it's gonna take a couple of hours and once it starts to get tender, I throw in some diced potatoes. Check for seasoning with salt and pepper. If you wanted, Ted, you want to pick it up. You could put a little tomato paste in there, but It's that simple. And for those people like I said they were fortunate enough to shoot a lot of Ducks and geese this year. It's a great way to use it up. Yeah, that's great. I love stew. And you know, just like chili, you know, you make venison RL chili, Uh and you freeze it and in the winner, that's the time. It's an easy meal anytime. You can take it up to your duck club. You can do whatever you want with it, but That's a great winner Recipe. I love it. It's good. I mean, this is this is too season. I don't usually have a big pot of stew in the middle of the summer. But right now good and by the way, sporting Chef is back on Sportsman Channel for a new season and dead meat is now on outdoor channel five times a week. So for people that haven't got that didn't get sportsman Channel that have outdoor They've got several seasons of dead meat up ahead for the high death. Sports Most general Oh, yeah, that's very all right. Does sports the gentle Thanks for reminding me what you watched on Comcast? It should automatically switch switch you over, so I don't look nearly as bad as I already am. Yeah. Thank you, Scott. Dr. Next week, Bye Bye. Scott Left of the website sporting chef dot com. Okay. Switching gears. Steelhead, The Trinity River Low Clear bunch of fish. Come in, You can pound on him. Then they get tough. We need rain. Guide to spend waiting for it is Matt Mitchell and I talked to Matt last night. Matt, you're kind of in Between times. It's the kind time a year where you need whether to get the fish moving, and especially to get new fish coming in. Tell me what's going on in Trinity right now. Well, there's a pretty decent little slug of Fish and hit the Junction City area. Really last week, um, did pretty well for a few days there. We need some more water. Torto bring some or in and the clam it and they'll shoot up and come into the Trinity. This Willow Creek last week and we hooked a couple adults and had a ton of half pounders. But we definitely need some rain to bring some fresh fish. So what happens to the slug of fish that moved into the Junction City? Do they just get beat on and kind of hunkered down or do they move up? Do you think I think some of them hunker down because they're waiting for Canyon Creek to get enough water to go up and the North Fork to get enough water to go up and Browns Creek and all these different feeder streams. But ah lot of them shoot up towards the hatchery because they're you know, just depends on what What creek they're going up to spawn this time, years, Mostly wild fish coming in sure. That's good news. That's good news. So the not know when you were catching him at Junction City. What technique where you're using. Limps under an indicator actually, eight patterns mostly Okay, so the egg patterns were still working out fishing the rubber legs. Well, we got a few on rubber legs but down there they especially the South Forks, bringing in some color right now, so They speak color the et eggs when there's color in the water, and then those fresher fish. They slash out of the those eggs, too. They they're programmed to eat a steelhead are until they get beat up on by him for a little while. They still eat him. Well, you you covered because you were done by Willow Creek, which is course below the south right below the Southwark. Then you were a dull oma and then a junction City. Did you catch fish? All three places. Did? Yes, sir. Yes, sir. At some pretty decent days. I mean, we had to really work for those those adults, but They were there, and we did get a few every day. So OK s O. So what we're reading. You're supposed to be a real good storm move in Monday. I know it's supposed to blow out the smith the eel on the coast and that should be just what the doctor ordered in land, Haman. Yeah, I was over on the Smith River. Ah, for 45. Days ago, I took my wife and kids for a float over there just to go Show it to my wife. She never been on it and it was low and clear. It could definitely Blowout. Bring some fishing and I think this is gonna be the real start of steelhead season on the coast. For sure this storm is gonna bring them all in That's that's mad Mitchell, Matt Mitchell's guys..

"Going to get the amount of rain. That we hoped for. And anyway, the further South you go the less rain in the meantime, up in the Smith River and the check Oh River and the Eel River on the coast of north Coast to California check. Oh, of course, is in order. But Um, if those rivers blow out, this will be just exactly what the first big runs of steel had need to come into The river. Now we already have some range a couple weeks ago, and everybody up there expected stealing to come in, but they did not come in in any numbers. They had a half pounders. Not a whole lot of steel had adult steelhead and steelhead are funny. I mean, the conditions convey perfect. It was two weeks ahead of time. They just kind of hang back. But Daniel for January, 1st comes along and if there's a storm there there, so that's why we're all looking forward to that now. That also holds true as you'll hear today in a couple reports still head on the Trinity and the clam up when we don't get any rain, those fish kind of hunkered down. They're not right. They're not real close to spawning. They're going to spawn. You know, most steelhead up north. They're going to spawn. Maybe in February in that maybe in the march So they're just hanging out and they get a little a little push of water in the face, And then they move up River. Will you get a push of fish up a river? Everybody catches a few fish for a few days. Then they get tough. A few of them move on the ones that stay. They get tough to catch. So that's why rain so important on the coast am inland. But, uh, you know, if even if this, uh excuse me forecast is partially true, That's gonna be good news ahead and that, of course, the American River opened yesterday. As did the upper portion of the McCollum E and the Feather River. Now the American River. We're gonna have a couple reports today. Uh, what is it about the America It seems like nobody pays any attention to the American River. It. Just take whatever it is and call it good enough. I'm a little tired of that. I mean, the American River used to be a great steelhead river. Why isn't a great steelhead River anymore? Well, you can get all the excuses in the world from the department gives Maura excuses than anybody in the World Department official Wildlife and the Department of Water Resource is and the Bureau of Reclamation. The fact is There's not enough attention paid to it, but from what I hear There was several fish caught. I'm not going to say a lot because there's a lot of people fish in the American on opening, but some nice steelhead were copped. Okay, We're gonna have to see how it develops over the next week or two. See what's going on. The crowds will diminish you might have a better chance. But They were sure should be nice if they could develop a fishery like they used to have. Yeah, well, we'll have more on that later. Uh, Dan Barker, and I'll have a conversation about that. Dan's going to be on a little later this morning. And the reason he's gonna be on a little later is Hopefully, we can get a hold of Mike Bernsen of Eagle Lake's ranch. No, this is a hunting and fishing ranch in Eastern War Washington, But this time a year it's known for its fabulous Mallard duck hunting. This is kind of a bucket list thing. It's not inexpensive by any means, Although it's doable. If you want to do a day hunt, they have a huge lodge will tell you about that. They have all encompassing rates. They have rates of just if you want to go duck hunting. But it's mallards. And one of the reason is they grow a lot of corn that they flood and coincidently and they have some warm springs. They keep the water from freezing, unlike the rest of eastern Washington, so hopefully we can Michael will join us about quarter to six. Dan Barker will come on. It's seven on talk about the opener in the American Rob Reimers has been rustic. Rob's has been fishing Coke Annie at Bullard's bar. Excuse me. Um, I'm getting a lot of fish. Problem is they're small. But if you like coke and efficient you could go down there and catch a limits of cocaine. And remember the limit. There is Tim. So you know, you could get a lot have a lot of action. Or, um, describe that bass are still missing in action. This has been the worst winter I can remember in my life. Maybe I can't remember that good name or but usually they're saying this time of year we used to fish and I'm a call me off the You know, um Beaver Slough Sycamore Slew Hogs, Slew the stripers and move in there and hunker down for the winner. Uh, different areas in the sand mocking Louis. We would be spooning for the big schools, The stripers. Definitely in the Liberty Island area. Uh, bait fishing and the Rio Vista down in the Montezuma sleep. It's not happening. Maybe Clyde will will can up there just a little bit, But as of now, it's really not happening. The crab season. Well, Andy, Juliana, and just a few minutes is gonna update us. What's going on there? Well, obviously the crab fishermen are ready to go. The pricer being offered by the buyers is not good enough for their efforts. The whole system is broken. And it seems like we go through this every year and who suffers the crab fisherman and us If we like fresh crab, the crab you buying the stores Now it's all frozen from this last summer or before. If anybody advertises fresh crab, you better question them severely. Okay? Um Lincoln Young will join us from Colin's Lake, calls Lake and years camping is going on there. As usual. Fishing is slow down a little bit. It's winter, but there's still catching some nice trout. Lincoln will update us. Craig Newton of Wolfish tackle in Auburn was on the American River yesterday, and he will talk to us about that. Also the fishing in Folsom Lake Jake Kelly of hooked Great little store. The Taco Stuart I own will also join us and update us on Amador and Comanche. Both are doing okay. And both out planning programs Comanche I mean, earlier this week dumped another £3600. I mean that the lake is full of fish. Then the loophole upon a bitch. Overt. Sweeney's will update us on Barry Yes, of Berryessa has been really the single I think best fishing Lake in northern California for a variety of species for the last several months, and we're talking about you know, with the big schools to shad, you go over and spoon or drop shot or whatever, and catch smallmouth large mouth spotted bath. Nice size rainbow trout. Beautiful, nice, fresh king salmon, occasional crop e occasional schooI fish, occasional catfish. I mean, come on, anyway, he'll update us what's going on over there, and we'll get his take on the scrappers and find out what's going on in the Napa River. Kyle Wives of headhunters, catch and limit after limit of trout in New Malone Is there not the biggest fish that he'd like to get? But you know, there's lots of action to be have their Don Paige Anneli is on his way to clear lick as we speak for his annual trip, they get a whole, but they get dozens and dozens and dozens of Jumbo Minos and go over and try to catch her release some of the big bath in Clear Lake and he has a good time every year, so we'll talk to him beforehand, but he was he fished Berryessa, so we'll get another report there. Then, as we have time. We'll get a report from Kurt Porter Career or Sack River guide. He closed out the salmon fishing in the Sacramento River in style. You know, it rained earlier in the week. Guess what? All the late fall run, Sam and this was the last week for them up in the Red bluff to Anderson area, and.
