There's zero chance of redoing the sad, very deep into this. That being said, these are phenomenal, I'll include the code we're off and I don't have the everything in front of me. I have nothing in front of me right now actually and out of Max's sitting next to me, like just laughing at me. Like as I'm screwing up, this added tremendously but the point is this place. To her, is they're great, they've been great to us and you can check check them out on. Enjoy winter.com and use promo code out of bounds Thirty, it is at 5:30 for 30% off, but yeah, that's basically it. I hope you guys enjoy the episode of The Mark. Smiley. If you guys have any questions about the episode for Mark, for me, let us know, we're trying to keep this thing on a consistent schedule and so, we'll see you next Tuesday. Forget who we have. But we've got to go Jimmy group. We have Jimmy Kripke next week and yeah, I don't know. We'll talk more about that one. Its weak. Cool, enjoy the episodes by Mark, tell people who you are, tell people a little bit about yourself and we'll kind of cold. Start you that way, okay, my name is Mark Smiley I'm based in Jackson Wyoming and I've been a mountain guide for my entire adult life. I'm forty now. And so, I've been doing this for almost 20 years now. I'm a, i f m, g a guide, which means I've gone through all these tests and courses over for me. It was a seven year period of my life to be tested and rock climbing Alpine climbing and skiing and ski mountaineering. And and then that what that certification has done is opened up Thor's the guide worldwide and that's what I did primarily before. Sense. And that's basically my little project, brain Farm myself and teach people. These guiding skills and just climbing skills in general and skiing skills. In order to kind of create access to the masses for this high-level stuff and off and my husband, I'm father too and I'm psyched to be here amazing. Yeah. So let's talk a little bit about the, like, the whole Mountain sense website like was that a home? Was that something that you had in mind for a long time? Was that something you've always wanted to do like doing these kind of online court? Because I don't think it really existed in skiing very much and definitely not, like, in the overall Outdoor World, it doesn't seem. It always seems like people are looking for real detailed information like this and it's extremely well-made, it's well cut together. It's organized extreme like a course and I'm back. keep treated it, extremely professionally, I guess, and has this been something you've wanted to do for a long time or was this something that came up because of covid-19 You'd walk away at the end of a 10-day program with all this knowledge and, you know, eager to use it. And so then I might default was my my life Partners who were also guides that just hadn't done the courses, or maybe they had and it was like, oh here's this example of, I can use this one technique. I learned. Cool and actually have a, a clip back. And it was my very first rock climbing road trip. And.

Deadly Atlanta shootings highlight violence against Asian American women

"Were killed, six were Asian women. When was a white woman? One was a white man. Do we know anything more about the victims at this point, Kimmie? Um, no. Right now it's we do know that the majority were Asian women. Um, not a ton has been, you know, not a ton of details have actually emerged from the case. And I think that we're still kind of sorting that out. One of the biggest questions is what the true motivation behind. Crime was behind the shootings were and I know that you know he's mentioned that Race didn't play into it and that there wasn't a racial motivation. However, I think we know as Asian American women that the way in which we've been seen in this country, hyper sexualized and objectified, it's very difficult and experts stress this. It's it's virtually impossible to Awards race from this conversation at the moment, Jeff what kinds of conversations are you having with family and friends about what's been happening? I have been dealing with a lot of people texting me saying that They are. They're heartbroken, and I'm talking to My own kids. I have two sons. Once a teenager. One is just turned 13 and Talking to them. Is that something that is particular heartbreaking because to explain to them some of the larger context around how this This set of crimes in particular intersects. White supremacy intersects violence against women intersects Immigration issues and, ultimately, sex work. I mean, it's something it's difficult enough to talk to you two kids, but when you have young man, especially and explaining the roots of some of the stuff in toxic masculinity It's that much harder. Well. Yesterday, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office held a press conference on the shootings. And here's what Sheriff's Captain J. Baker had to say on that subject of motive. He was pretty much fed up that have been kind of end of his rope and I mean, if there was a really bad day for him, and this is what he did. I will say that when I heard that framing I had a pretty strong reaction to it myself. Jeff, What did you make of that framing of the attack? Don't think anything has really enraged me as much as the willingness more than the willingness the eagerness to try to reduce these crimes by stripping away The context of race by turning them into the seemingly logical extension of somebody's quote, quote, Bad day or even excusing in so many words. The idea that Murderer. Racialized murder of six women of eight people. Seven women, six of them Asian American. Was somehow Just a way of racing temptation of taking away this with cup of of ice or something from the lips of this guy. It is really shocking to hear law enforcement. That's Supposedly dedicated to investigating and protecting people like us saying these things with just such a calm and easy voice. We should say several outlets are reporting that the captain appears to have promoted of racist, a covert 19 T shirts on his social media Facebook page belonging to a J. Baker and Georgia. Features numerous numerous photos of the captain. Going back months, posted a photo of the T shirt in March of 2020 with the message come and get them while they last and a smiley face Emoji. Kimmy, as you've been been reporting. I'm just curious. How you've been processing the way law enforcement reacts to some of these crimes. Yeah. You know, I can't say that I was surprised. I do think in talking to a lot of Asian Americans and in this case and as well as in a lot of other incidents, um, proceeding this During the pandemic. There's definitely this idea that you know Asian American pain and Asian American and violence against Asian Americans has always been minimized and not quite Recognizes something that's valid. I think several members of the Asian American community have spoken out about this, and I think that it comes about in so many ways. You know, Of course, the Statements from law enforcement. I think many found that very jarring but also brought up the fact that you know Asian American issues, and the concerns of the community have often been erased in media and, you know, have often gone unaddressed by public officials. So I think You know, people do feel that this kind of falls in line with the general attitude that people have towards Asian Americans in general. Has also been guidance

It's very hard to move away from something that works well for you and for me. Change is the single most difficult thing in my life. I don't embrace change very well. But i know the importance of it so i hate my new return but it works and i think is for the best and i love it but i'm still you know getting used to it and sometimes i wanna go back to the old way but I feel like this is a better. I'm more consistent with my return and have better results. Williams next task is arena. Saba linka in the belarussians. Here's a first look at Apple's $549 AirPods Max headphones

"I wanna talk to you about the airpods max. There was many rumors this fall that these were coming and being mid december. It looked like maybe we're not gonna get it before. Two thousand twenty one but no early on tuesday morning apple announced and released the airpods max. They went up for sale. I think it was like eight thirty in the morning and to everyone's shock and awe and let's just talk about now five hundred and fifty dollar price tag for the airpods. Max i would love to have your initial thoughts not only on the price tag but on the name. Because i kind of wish. They went with studio because the rumored codename airpods studio because they're over the your headphones with the cups. Noise cancelling airpods max. I don't know it sounds a little funny. What do you think william. I did as she laughed when i saw the name but only because apple keeps used to keep everything secret and now everything seems to come out but they hit us with a new name. We weren't expecting and that did the same with the apple a. m water. It is like there's a naming department that can keep a secret. I agree studios san sense better so these headphones they're very expensive. They're five hundred and fifty dollars despite that they're basically sold out until march if you try to buy a pair now it'll say twelve to fourteen weeks shipping time so even despite the price very popular you can actually go and watch him hd. And i just actually have these. They did initial videos unboxing and some initial thoughts. I'll put those links in show notes as well just kind of a quick specs. These are over the ear cups headphones controls on these. It is all physical controls. There's a large digital crown on one of the earcups that you'll use to adjust volume or you can press it down for siri. And then there's also another button to go from transparency to noise cancelling mode so they have a lot of the features of the airpods pro. They have spatial audio. They can do dolby. Atmos and seven point. One surround virtually in the headphones. So that's all very cool but a couple of the noticeable omissions will say no power brick in the box so with your five hundred and fifty dollar headphones. You do not get a powerbook to charge you. Do get a cable. You get a usb c a lightening cable so you can charge it with one of the twenty usb c charging that apple will sell you but it also does not come with the cable to physically connect these headphones to an audio source. If you would like that you have to pay an additional thirty five dollars for a lightning. Two three and a half millimeter cable to plug into an audio source and again the fact that they went with lightning on instead of usb bbc. I'm not sure i feel about that. But those are the omissions and again on that price tag at least put the cable in there. I don't know that's just me. What do you feel wind. Packwood's and i agree with you. That seems wrong. I know we got loose. Packers have old ones. So i don't know how much use they would be i. It never occurred to me to think about a physical connection with this their wireless headphones release anything else. But actually yeah. If i am a musician pro use a full who. This is a bargain but a worthwhile cost. I'm likely to want to better connection wireless bluetooth so yeah on quite taken aback. Especially if you cross into that audio file realm and one of things. I'm going to do with it I did order a pair though becoming tuesday. So i'll be able to talk about him on next week's episode personally but i'm actually a classical music fan. I don't think i've ever share this with amish on the podcast. But i'm a classical trumpet player. That's my wife degree. yes i love. Actually listening to classical music. Believe it or not and so. I'm very curious to see how these sound. On some of those mozart requiems and brahms symphonies at to see the audio quality is really up to snuff. But for five hundred fifty dollars should sound amazing. You know per se. Obviously this is in comparison and in competition with headphones. Like the sony w.h. Xm fors which usually cost like three hundred. Three hundred and fifty dollars was like attuned dollar premium for these and the bose noise cancelling headphones seven hundred are very popular. Those are around three hundred and forty dollars. So you're getting two hundred to two hundred and fifty dollar premium to pay for these airpods. Max so i really hope have to imagine that the sound quality is excellent. But you're also paying for apple's features like the h. One chips the ability to the noise. Cancelling connect your devices seamlessly switch just like other airpods and airpods pro another cool feature to the cups. The ear cushions that are on the headphones are actually connect magnetically. And so if you want to replace the earcups for whatever reason they come off very easily and attach very easily as well and hd shows that had his video looks pretty satisfying and you can also get replacement ear cushions again. Not cheap but seventy bucks on apple you can actually order them now in the apple store and on their website but you can get replacement cushions for seventy dollars again in the future if you need them and you can mix and match colors. There's actually a cool chart you know if you will have to get the space gray headphones and put some blue cushions on it. You can be fancy like that if you'd like but again you're paying a premium for all these. I don't know. I'm curious to try them. But these don't tempt you at all as i once used the bose actions that you mentioned don. I was very impressed on. I do like us. I'm more of a malla guide. The mets on no. It doesn't tempt me. Except there is one thing this one specification you've just kind of lewd to skipped a very good. That is crucial. What color did you buy on. I won't with space gray because the size of these. I mean they're large. They're over the ear headphones. And i like to be discreet when i'm around other people the rare times that happens and so white white was tempting. But i don't have so much you know every other airpod is white and i didn't like the green or the pinkish red color. Blue was the only other one that tempted me. But i don't know. I just went discreet. I want black now. You wouldn't touch. That's what it is so next day. Jiang at a party somewhere. Nobody's gonna notice because she didn't have blue headphones. That's what i would have gone full blitz. Obviously the blue did look very nice. i was tempted. Also attempt to engrave these. I've actually never engraved an apple product. I don't know why i just have never done. It and i was very close to engraving these. But i had a moment of. I don't know what to put on them. And i know shipping. Times are gonna slip. So i just four went the engraving and just sorta without. But i'm curious william. Have you ever engraved an apple product. No because of always thoughts. And i'm gonna pass it on somebody else or might resell it to somewhere right. So it's been like having a set to somebody on their name. Just you break up with something. It feels wrong in a weird way. It feels like it's studies the the pristine finish of the device as well especially if you wanna resell it. That definitely makes it more difficult but I know you have tons of tattoos. You have sleeves don't you. Have you have tattoos all over please. I'm not illustrated unless you know what you said about coming up with something to say. I know whatever. I had written on me. I would change my mind magic instantly and want to me. I did work with a young writer. Who said she was aiming to have some text for every significant part of her life tattooed on and i wished to long life and much fatness so that you have room okay. Well staying on the grieving for a second. I saw that in addition to letters you can actually engrave emojis on apple products. Now you can choose emojis if you'd like. So here's my question to you william. If you could engrave any emoji apple device what emoji do you think you would choose. Would it be the winking smiley face sticking out the tongue or would it be money flying away. What do you think is the money involved here with page to do this. I give you twenty bucks. Yeah i need more need more. I need a lot more needs to pay for the hedge funds and then i feel that's nice cost parlance I'm i'm a writer. I can't bear emojis next. Particularly i had a message from a singer songwriter. I profoundly admire but it was all in emojis. And i have no idea what she was saying. It was just. I think it's gonna start communicating with you william. I'm gonna do all emojis from now on well good by sending emerges did not sending me pat. That's where you're going wrong. You sending the wrong listen. Listen we'll see when that when the next ipad comes out the battery life on my ipad. I don't know what's going on but it is I don't know. It's a little rough. When i edit podcast. It's great at any at any other time. So that new model comes out. I don't know we'll see you keep playing this long game gas lighting me. I'll just send it off without even thinking about it.

"Let's welcome captain. Scotty smiley harvard. Catherine thank god. It's great to have you here. And thank you for coming especially in veterans day and thank you for your service to our country and the sacrifices that you've made we may years ago you were a cadet at west point and i was in speaking there and i think we were presenting the cadets with bibles what year was that i think it was two thousand and two right and you were there with your friend edward graham. Who's also an army ranger. Oh yeah and so. That's when we first met and got. I saw edward not long ago. And i told you this in the back room. I said man. He looked like gi. Joe and what did you say. He still sounds like gi. Joe he thinks he is young. Joe you were thinking he is. He's active with the military today and now did you grow a lot of young boys. Grow up playing army wanting to be a soldier. Was that how you were raised that you always want to be in the military. Such a little boy. I always love guns and playing army but for me the choosing to ten the united states military academy was the fact that it was free and my parents could afford of education. So you're getting your education there and while you were a cadet nine eleven happened. How did that affect you cracked in. When my junior year in two thousand and one september eleventh happened just forty miles south of us at west point we were attacked and it really resolved my dedication to fight for the freedoms in which we have and it really made me want to be in the army and continue my not education the military but my service to our country and you were sent to iraq northern iraq whereabouts in iraq. Did you doubt received orders. Back at fort. Lewis where i was from to deploy them zule iraq and i didn't know where mule was so looking it up on the internet. I found out that it was niniveh and end the bible named area. Actually you know living near the puget sound. I definitely did not want to tell god. No i'm not going to niniveh. That didn't work out so well for jones did it. I think you know we got to learn from people's past so when you there did. Did you find that. The people of iraq we're welcoming our military presence or i think many of them did appreciate the freedoms that we gave them taking out saddam hussein while at the same time there are expectations that the united states would be bring freedom and money and wealth. Yeah they're disillusioned in many of them still supported us and loved the freedoms that we gave them but at the same time the insurgents continually tried to throw it us continue right the system and continue to bring down their country. One day in april. You're out of control and a stryker vehicle. What does a stryker vehicle stryker. Vehicles and wheeled vehicle with fifty caliber machine gun. I mean it's awesome. It's just amazing. Vehicle that carries soldiers and as we found a suspicious vehicle which you can't shoot someone because they look scary. I made a decision to court on him off per protect other people..

San Francisco Giants need win, help to reach playoffs after loss to Padres

"Of course, a disappointing lost by the San Francisco Giants. Today. 62 to 6 runs nine hits in San Diego two runs seven hits for the Giants three home runs by but Padres in this game two T's hitting his 17th. On. Tommy Pham had his third and then Mitch Moreland hit his second. So back to back homeruns solidified the wind in the ninth inning. Ah, big loss, and I think it was kind of a hangover yesterday after that, the second game of the double hitter. When the Padres came up with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on the trend, Charism home run and it just took the life out of them today. They just didn't have any spark with their bats. They just couldn't get anything going. Ah, baserunning steal by Du Bon and the fifth there was a blunder. They're trying to go from 2nd and 3rd on his own. He got picked off a third and they only had a couple chances there in the eighth inning, but the baths were silent. They only had seven hits on the On the day belt had to used Rimsky had two floors had won and Durban had one. And that was it, So their offense kind of been stymied. It just looked really dead today that this just looked defeated before the game even started. So we could talk about that game because a lot of things have happened now since the Giants lost 6 to 2 There now. 29 30. They must win tomorrow. That's the first thing the Brewers lose or the Brewers wind and knocked at cards to 29 29. The Giants will win. They'll be forcing ST Louis to play a double hitter on Monday at Detroit. Then the cards have to drop both games for San Francisco to get in. It's a scenario the Giants are eliminated with the lost tomorrow automatically. So 1st 1st things first they need to win to Marjorie Smiley on the hill for the Giants. We still don't know who the Padres they're throwing out there. There might be a bullpen committee game that means nothing to them. The Giants need to put a win together somehow some way tomorrow and watch what happens. Milwaukee is playing ST Louis. They beat him today.

Summerfest announces new three-weekend format for 2021

"New announcement. About what Summer fest 2021 is going to look like and we're joined right now. In the first Midwest Bank hotline by summer fest, CEO Don Smiley, Don. Good Afternoon. Good afternoon, Jeff. How are you? I am Well, thank you. Okay, Let's talk about the big news. What Summer fest. 2021 is going to look like and then we'll kind of explore why That decision was made, but so what? It's gonna look like Sure we're we're changing the festival format. The three weekends versus 11 days, so we'll start on June 24th and work 24 25 26. July, 123 and July 89 10. We will eliminate two Sundays, two Wednesdays and a Tuesday. That's five days. So what the essence of this is and and what we discovered through? Surveys and focus groups in in in in and data mining was that our customers want Mohr national bands. Earlier in the day. Can so We're going to take the expenses from those five days that I just gave to you and we're going to reallocate them to the weekends. Where will have local bands up early, but well, you you can picture a national band. Being on the Harley stage or the Miller stage at 5 P.m. and then another headliner at nine or 10 o'clock that evening, so it's an effort to go after more quality. Versus quantity and really fish. When the fish are biting, more people are more apt to be out on the weekends. Thursday, Friday Saturday with disposable income And And in using their energy entertainment dollars on those days versus the five days that I gave you, which, really when it came right down to it, they were really weak and that is W e a K. There were weak days for us, and we were spending a lot of money to produce those days and our money can be better spent in reallocating tow three weekends done. This is just in some ways respects. The logical progression in number means. Summer fest originally was always Thursday through Sunday, 11 days and a number of years ago. You made the decision. To to drop that first Monday because of a variety of things, including, I think week attendant, So this is really just kind of a logical progression of that I would imagine. It is. I mean, you know when you look at Theaters and restaurants and so on. I mean, you find a lot of businesses closed on Mondays. But when you're running a music festival The expenses are are are significant and Whatever you can. Maximize those dollars on different days. We concluded that that's the way to go. Even though it's too less days we're gonna have we're gonna have better bands and we're gonna have the bands that our customers our fans are looking for is still at a very affordable price. We're still gonna have free gated missions. We're still gonna have promotion days. We're still gonna have Children's fast day. It's such a It's such so none of that's going to change. We're just going to camp up. No pun intended thie the quality of the of the bands that we signed and on top of that on the fringes. If you will, pre summer fest in post summer fast, we're going to do a lot of shows in the American family insurance amphitheater in the beam, O'Hare's Pavilion will probably do more shows. And those two buildings that in the history of the festival So there's going to be a lot of activity in that building. It was too bad we couldn't use it the summer Ah, it turned out beautiful. And I'm referring to the reconstruction of the amphitheater. So and I know we're not alone there. I mean, you know everyone's hurting, and that includes sports and in restaurants and businesses alike. We understand that, but we had it. We have a scheduled board meeting this morning. We went through all of this. It was a unanimous decision. And so while we do understand that there are Maur. Important things going on in our world today and in people's lives have changed because of coded and also social unrest. This is just one of those things that we had to get out there and get on with it for the planning of 21, Don't just so I'm clear that this is not a one off plan for 2021. This is this is the plan for Summer fest moving forward is that correct? We'll see. I mean, I'm not going to sit here and tell you that You know that This is a perfect plan. And if if it works if all of the data That we considered in making this decision plays out. Well, then it will be a nine day festival going forward. I mean, you know who's to say that there isn't a show on Wednesday night prior to the opening Thursday, and who's to say this might turn into a 10 Day festival? I mean, you know, everything changed with Kobe. Everyone's life has changed their personal life, their social life. All businesses have been affected. And and and we're not on an island here, so we really believe that we have to be flexible. We have to be creative. We have to be able to pivot when when it's necessary, and that's exactly what we're doing. We lost $10.4 million in 2020. That's Before depreciation by not operating summer fest or any other shows down here or the ethnic festivals, So that's quite a mountain to climb. To try to make that money back and start replenishing our reserves again after we put $10 million of our own money into the amphitheatre, which was a $51 million project, so You know, I have, really, I really couldn't tell you what the future holds. I can tell you exactly what 21 is planned for, And if for some reason we run into a fork in the road In 21. Well, then we'll make a decision. At that time when you mentioned the ethnic festivals. Does this new schedule for summer fest proper, have any Will it have any impact on any of the ethnic festivals and they're scheduling No. The ethnic festivals would have the same dates as they would have had in 20 Got it. One of the other things in your announcement today for the nine days of summer fest. It looks like eight of the days are already booked for the amphitheater, and it looks like you've got just a a killer lineup coming there. I can give them to you if you're interested. Sure. Okay. On June 24 we have Khalid 25 is Luke Bryan 26 is Justin Bieber. July 1st Dave Matthews. The second is blank. 1 82. The third is Halsey. The eighth is Stapleton and the 10th his guns and roses. So we have one day to fill July 9th. Actually, it's filled but we can announce it. Yes, and we have some other shows sprinkled in around those dates. Already. So I think that's one of the things that people need to recognize as well and in part because of the partnership you have with with live nation now, the summer fest grounds. There's even outside the parameters of the run of summer fest that the summer fest grounds we're going to be utilized, probably more than ever in 2021 with big shows, right? Yes, sir. That was a great deal We did with the Frank Brothers, which is the live nation partner here in Wisconsin and That will provide more more shows more opportunities it required. Um, the reconstruction of the amphitheater. If we didn't do that, we wouldn't be any more shows And you know, there are some shows that we won't get there. Some shows that just play that, you know, they just want to play indoors and will will not get a shot of those. And There's plenty of venues in town for for those bands to play indoors and then and then we're going to get a shot at at bands that want to play amphitheaters. So we feel like we're in good shape. They're in and we're set up for the future, and I'm sure there's going to be some traditionalists who look at this and say, I really I really missed that Tuesday's show or I can't believe they're doing away with opening day Wednesday, but This is kind of a new reality that you're dealing with in a festival. Look, Let's just, you know, get this out of the way. I mean, we know we're not going to get all the votes and we know that there will be you know, there will be some that don't agree, but you know, we're going off a day out of I, You know, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I love that. I think that's passion. That's like arguing who should hit second or third and play right field or second base. I mean, if they're not talking about you, I mean, then you really have a problem. So You know, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. We're just going on the facts. We know what our attendance is going back. Years. Um For Thursday, Friday Saturday and we know what kind of revenue we do on those days and we know exactly what the expenses are so for us to set this up. And get it ready for future generations and replenish our reserve funds. This is the move that we need to make. Got it done. Smiley Summer fest CEO. Thanks so much for spending some time with me this afternoon. I always appreciate it.

"We're going to have the new. Unc Men's basketball coach. Steve Smiley on we had the former UNC. Men's basketball coach. Jeff Lender on the program Thursday. Who is now the head coach of the Wyoming Cowboys? Steve Smiley Co. I thought I honestly I feel like it was a no brainer. I don't he was one of those where you didn't need to open up this wide. Sir I mean he was with the program for a while and you know depends a lot of circles. He's talked very highly of so I'll be. I'll be excited to talk to him. We've gone back and forth via social media for a few years now but we've never actually had him on the program so I look forward to chatting with him a bit and building on that relationship in the next couple of years. I also want to ask. You know the the challenge. Everybody's in in this challenge right now. You know whether you're coach. It's been there for ten years or this is your first time as the head coach for a certain team. These are tough times tough times. Everybody for bigger reasons right but in the sports aspect it is a difficult situation. And that's where that's where I'd like to see. You know what his thoughts are and how. That's how he's operating. How do you jump into that coaches that were hired before the corona virus stuff at least got a hold or a handle on their situation? Guys like Steve. Smiley was hired last week in the midst of all of this so it did provide at least a positive story for us here and I think you know. Listen keep your eyes out because the the NBA's tried to get creative. They're going to try to figure this out at some point again. It's not going to be next. I would not imagine it's going to be next month. You're not looking at April twenty third. That's when the playoffs start anyway. And that's a tough side too because Colfax the twenty third day of March and were were really approaching that we'd be getting so close to the playoffs and that's why you know. Last night would have been nuggets Toronto. That's why it was my bad story of the good. The bad the ugly and it's it's difficult because we would have been in store for some very meaningful basketball games for nice stretch and it would have let us right into the playoffs in a pretty pressure-filled scene for the nuggets. Everybody expected Denver to be a you know. Get past that first round and actually move past the second. I think. I honestly believe that realistic expectations at least Denver Wisely Colorado Wise. We're saying that this team has to get past the second round. They have to get to the Western Conference finals. Which would have been very difficult to do. Because either way you line up you would. You would have had to get past the clippers or the Lakers depending on how we said and more than likely you would have. Had you pass the clippers play Houston and Rowan play the clip around two? And then you move on. You play the Lakers. That's likely how it would have worked out but that one that we will never know what the real situation was. But you know the other thing you have to think about. I mean if the Lakers were good how good would Lebron James B? With a lot of time off you know where he can show. He's everybody's fresh now. All those injuries we talked about. Hey this guy's out for three months. He's missed the playoffs. I mean you look at a guy like use of Norwich for Portland. He was. We didn't really have a timetable. We were kind of starting to get one and then suddenly we in the season. Well it's been two two weeks already is in three weeks. It's been slow and fast at the same time but we get to that point where. It's okay Portland suddenly is going to get healthy and they might be true contender. So how how? Good with the nuggets have been. I mean this is the what if game I mean. We always play that in sports but this is truly the what if game how I mean. How many different things do you hear? You know where it's like. Oh well what if? The broncos was selected this guy in the first round. This this is truly the what if game and I want to get into more of that but we want to step aside because we're going to get the brand new. Unc Bears Men's basketball coach. Steve Smiley on the show but first let's get the latest on local sports flash thirteen ten. Kfi Am preps. Radio is northern Colorado's home for the best high school coverage. This is Brian. "Super smiley adventure. And we're back on a super smiley adventure with Dr Alison cars the duck far. I mentioned the ABC news of that, that was kind of off the tart wild. Can you just quickly? Tell us about that happened. Want her? Well, f I mentioned earlier, you know, there was a human study done with pretend. And this was back in early two thousand and it showed the dramatic reduction of oxidative stress and, and ABC prime time got wind of that. And they thought this is too good to be true, and that this company must be claiming they have the fountain of youth. And so we're going to go on and do a whistle blower. Investigate investigating. Yeah. Investigative report they went into debunk the product they came knocking on the company doors. And, you know, said, well, we want our guy, our medical correspondent John Donets wants to get tested. Let's see if it works on him. And then sure enough it worked on him showed the same exact forty five percent reduction of oxidative out, and they actually. Yeah. So instead of debunking it, they actually validated, the product and era. Thousand of five that's amazing. And if anybody wants to see that I've actually got the link here to the, the actual news story. It's at biohacking your body dot com. That's bio hacking, your body dot com because everybody's heard the word hacking, computer, hacking, and the definition of hacking is actually where you go into a system and take control of it. So biohacking is like when you go in, and we're taking control of the cells meaning to make them fabulous. Is that right elephant? Is that right? Exactly. That's a good way to it. Yeah. So Alison Pantano the product, you told us about your clients are there any other stories your you gave us a really good. Good overview of your young clients the old doggies arthritis doggies. And so I'm always cared about giving. Let me just ask you anything to my animals are recommending anything. But you already told me that your dogs eight, you know, was how many bottles that are there, any possible allergies? Or adverse effects? Have you seen any? I mean, I guess with anything there are. But I just always want to ask that question. No, that's a great question. And you know, because the pets has some flavoring to it if I have any pets, that have allergy issues food, allergies or anything like that. I tend to just go with the human product which does not have any flavoring. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So you actually both out the human version based on the pets. Wait, so I'll just do a little conversion with that figure out what those of the human version of give them. And then I have seen occasionally very, very small percentage of animals that might get. A little bit of diarrhea, or loose stool for the first couple of days and usually that will stop. And sometimes we think of it, it might be like a little bit of a detox reaction why when you're starting to kind of clean itself out and even people can experience that. But usually just increasing the water intake or just decreasing the doors that for a week or two but aside from that. I mean like I said, I've seen it I've seen, you know, animals consume way, more than the dose and not have a problem. So I just it's just something with anything even a new food being added some animals can be sensitive, but I've rare. Okay. Very cool. And if anybody is concerned, of course, they can always take the bottle to their vet and to say, what do you think about this? Right. You can always do that with your area. Yep. On Smiley's change. His change was so dramatic in the positive shift. What did you see in your personal dogs when you gave it to your dog as what did they do? You said, yeah. I'm biased. Well, my dogs are still pretty young rambunctious so long. They already had they already had plenty of energy. But I did have, you know, I do give them mainly because they are middle aged now and, you know, they are I know as they get older, predisposed certain conditions. My hussy definitely prone to orthopedic issue. So I'm yeah. Hoping more to see some slowing down the aging process. I mean I'm really excited to see on it for years. Oh, yeah. Want to mention a hunk ahead. Yeah. My locust I did want to mention to you can give us the cats you can give this, the forces people have questions. So it is totally safe, and it's absolutely fabulous for cats because we don't have a lot of good drugs that kept can tolerate for pain and inflammation. Right. Right. Yeah. I use this a ton and cats and then, of course, I've got some equine veterinarian friends who have had great results in horses in terms of just dealing with lameness issues and laminate us and stuff like that. It's just something, you know that I feel like if your pet has a problem, I ready this, try it, you know, see how it works for them. I mean it's going to help at a cellular level period, but, you know, certainly, even if they don't have problems I feel like it's, it's a good preventative measure. Right. And so Dr Parnes if people do want to try it. Where can everybody gets this? Where can they find it yet? So I actually have a website called your body, so. T. U N, E, your body dot life band. Dot com. The company has life vantage, so you can find it through that website. Typically it's bought through the tributaries of the product. So you don't wanna go to Amazon or EBay or anything like that, because there are a lot of counterfeit products. But get sold out on the market like that. I it was important to make sure you get it directly from the company through a licensed distributor to right. That's good advice, attune, your body dot life, vantage dot com. I also wanna add.

"But everyone knows the ingredients of a smiley face. Right. The yolk circle the black oblong is the curved grin, it has pervaded pop culture since the nineteen sixties when hippies stickered, it onto VW buses in screened onto tie-dyed shirts gen Xers will recall. It's on the presence during the nineties on things like Joe boxer underwear today. The cutesy smirk is again, spreading contagious -ly, it, lurking behind that expression of simple. Joy is a big complicated business since nineteen Ninety-six London's vis smiley company has held a trademark on the smiley in over one hundred countries worldwide. It's a story by Jacob Gallagher men's fashion editor at the Wall Street Journal. Jacob, I had no idea that you said you had no idea because I started reporting this piece, because I have noticed lately that they've been more smiley faces. But then, you know, the clothing world we're starting to see. Them again. And that's part of the stall, you know, the nineties soldier the seventies of soldier that's been pulsating through clothing, as well, as you know, just kind of right now, people like happier. Sunny stuff. You know there's a lot going on in the world. And people kind of lake to see those nice references. What happened though was that I started reporting this in really June after I started looking into it. I came upon this company called the finally company, I suppose it makes sense to finally face would have would be trademarked, but I had never really considered that. And finally company is a company that is based in London. It's run by a Parisian gentleman whose father was the man who trademark filing face. He, he did that in. I believe nineteen seventy-two. He readily admit that they did not invent Desailly face. There is a little bit of a debate about the providence of it, but he was a man who. Smiley face. And he was quite smart to do so, because today it is a multi million dollar business. That is really having a moment writing the back of people from fashion designers to just came makers to people make in greeting cards. What have you basically paying a fee to use D smiley face? You know, I was thinking as I was reading the opening couple of paragraphs about, of course. I mean everybody uses this on their smartphone this popular emoji, but in fact, they're not related not related. It's, it's one of those delicate things that trademark law where they have the trademark on meet the exact signature smiley face that, you know, you're probably visualizing, your head right now yellow background the to kind of out to kind of flashed is. And then, like the curve, the emojis that we see on our phone. They are different enough that they do not fall under the copyright umbrella for them are under the trademark. Umbrella. And that is kind of one of the other shingles of the story is that, you know, it's a lot of. Trademarking a lot of brands have been able to kind of, by betrayed by simply modifying the smiley face just a little bit. And then. Quemoy over. Now what you lose you lose the kind of conic signature smiley. But in this world where we have a motive and everything, I think people just are used to. It's any different flavor. We're speaking with Jacob Gallagher men's fashion editor at the Wall Street Journal. He's written a piece entitled the shockingly, large business behind the icon ick smiley face. And is this not the WalMart smiley face either, is it? Well, the walmarts anything kind of thing that I came upon his cO was that the, the walnut smiley was the same. It is finally company smiley. Now they settled out of court, I believe in twenty eleven regarding they had the smiley company did file trademark claim against them, and they were able to settle out of court. I'm not exactly sure what happened there. The, the details behind that have not been disclosed now subsequently smiley, which WalMart did not use for many years smiley, has come back believe that they revitalized it like twenty sixteen twenty seventeen. And they have used it occasionally. But it it's funny because that is the one that is the Silje that defined the company has the trademark over. I just imagined. Walmart is the largest company if they were able to make some kind of deal there. But again, I cannot speculate on that. Thanks jacob. Jacob Gallagher at men's fashion editor at the Wall Street Journal reminded, by the way, we.

"And I hope that as I share my story people. I have the light bulbs going off like, oh, we could do that. Oh, I could ask my child. What are they curious about even though they're young because you can ask them that today? How do you curious about what are you interested in you could take them to the library? And just be like, what are you curious about? And then this watched them walk around and discover in in that you get to know them in a different way versus telling them, you know, you should read this book because it's a good book. I read it when I was raid. Okay. If you want to share your life with them in that way. But what about if you get to know them as well? And that's one of the things that we do in our household as much as I am a parent where I definitely am not my kid's best friends. And we are not just having conversations where I'm just tell me all the things you think like sometimes this is how it is. And we're done you know, what I'm saying. We're gonna handle it. But we. You also get to do this dance of their times. When I set that to the side, and I just opened up just give them space to share as well because there's places where I am teaching and leading them, and there's places where they are teaching me. And I go God put you in my life. And I want to appreciate the gift that you are. And I want to be a gift to you. Now, let's figure out how we walk this together in a way that honors him. And that really creates a space where all of us feel loved and appreciated and seen and heard and that smiley, my hope because that's my kids get older, I do want to transition into this place where we're friends. Yeah. Were they don't feel like, well, you know, my mom was hard, and she was tough. And I'm glad I'm out of here. And they like burn. All right. I want them to be seeking me out and saying mullets talk. Yeah. Like, this is where I am in my life right now. And so for us what I'd like to teach when I'm in teach mode. So I'll put my hand on for children how to go. So for me, the definition of being intentional is having both the courage and the confidence to live true to your core values, and the interesting thing about that is most of us want to be confident in our parenting. Yeah. But what precedes confidence is always courage. It's someplace where we have to lean in and be brave it someplace where we have to get uncomfortable. We have to do something. We've never done we have to be willing to trust. God when we're going to be different in odd. When he it looks like everybody else is doing away that seems to work why not us to write. Like, why are why does he have us out here doing home, birth and home school, and we have our own home business? We have our own family business that we do is grown out of the home. Now why God why are we always have to?.
