"You need to make sure you have things for downtime. Like, how big of an ordeal is packing in your world? So I normally pack like two or three weeks before I go because I always just like to know what I need to take with me if I'm going to go like if I have events that I need to actually have like an organized outfit for if I have press stuff that I know that I need to do if I have I just want to go to a nice dinner I want to go to like an Instagram Y like restaurant and take a cute photo like those are all things you have to plan out and just tennis clothes in general like all of our match clothes and everything are pretty organized like well before. So that's pretty set and then at that point obviously supply chain issues now post COVID. It's been way more difficult like getting stuff getting stuck on time, like having it being the right place so that's been stressful but in general I like to pack like two or three weeks in advance. And how many weeks are you away? Like I figure you're not flying back between a New Zealand and Australia, right? No. So for this Australia trip, I'll be gone for four weeks. So are we sending trunks like how much status going into four weeks of pack? That's insane to me. Another moving. I know it is like moving. But I literally will only take one. I have a big away suitcase, like the large one. I have that, then I have my tennis bag, and I have a carry on, and that's it. I guess you're not going to Mars. So clearly whatever you need to get while you're obviously, but I'm stressed out for you. What if she doesn't have her lucky muscle roller, or I don't know, are there things that you know you need to bring? Yeah, so normally, it's kind of like the same thing. So I have all my Norma tech stuff. I have my hybridized massage gun. I have my firefly little band things that I use on my legs. All of those are in one place. So I'll normally pack those in my tennis bag, and I have all of my equipment, per se, like in my tennis bag. So everything that I need, like my icy hot patches, my everything fancy goes in my tennis bag. And then everything else goes in my trunk suitcase, which is like one side is practice clothes, but I can get my practice glows really small, so I roll them very tightly and then put them on one side, and then the match outfits will go on the same side of the suitcase. Just like on the right side. And then we go to the other side of the suitcase. The fun stuff, which is like normal stuff, which is one side is like probably skin care, like my candle, my silk pillowcase, that normal stuff, and then I have my outfit, and then my purse is. I'm sorry, we have to stop on the candle. You're traveling with a candle. What is this candle? Yeah, oh my gosh. Well, I have a ton. I just kind of like alternate them through the year, but the one that I'm taking to Australia with me is called fucking fabulous. It's Tom Ford. I have heard of it. Yeah. And I don't know, I'm just feeling fucking fabulous, so I just think that it's a great way to start the new year. I am with you on that. You know, I was thinking about like you're an athlete like routine is so important, you know, you have your practices, doing muscle memory, doing things the right way. But when travels the opposite of routine in a way. Like how do you strike that balance to help you perform your best, but still be flexible because you're traveling and things change and luggage gets lost or whatever it is. Yeah, exactly. It's very complicated, especially now, obviously post COVID, we've all experienced a lot of travel delays and lost baggage and bags getting lost for like 6 months and things like that, which is beyond crazy. I have like 72 airtags in each of my bags as I'm so like, I'm like, where is the bag? Where's the bag? Yes. But it's just a lot of different things always happening. Like a little delay. So for me, personally, I don't like to play tennis or exercise on the day that I travel, 'cause I feel like it really stresses me out, especially now, if the flight's a little delay, you schedule a practice. And you're likely for the practice because the flight was delayed and you're transported and show up. There's so many factors with that where it just brings so much unnecessary stress when you're traveling, especially now. So yeah, I mean, travel is a huge part of my job, like 50% of it is travel 50% is actually like playing tennis. So kind of like finding the right balance like what works best for me and like I said, not particularly like playing or working out on the day that I'm traveling has helped me a ton. Just ease the stress of like, okay, I just the only thing I have to do today is arrive to my destination eat food and get into my hotel room. Reduce the stress around everything, but the match itself, which of course should be stressful, but like in a good way. Yes, like in a good anxiety like butterflies in your stomach wife. Yeah. You talk a lot about self care and I feel like when people hear that they think, oh bath, meditation. You know, but I know for you, that's not always the case. It's like doing what feels right in the moment. So what are some of the surprising things that like, sure, bath and meditation in a fucking fabulous candle that self care. But are there other things that might surprise people that you think of as self care? Yeah, so I think to me, going to get my nails done, I just told somebody the other day. I need a loan time, and I feel like if I'm getting a manicure and a pedicure, I can't pick up my phone, like I'm sitting there by myself, maybe my nail tech is talking to me, probably not. And I'm just like relaxing, like no one can get to me. No one can bother me. And it just alone time. If you tell someone like, oh, I'm going to get my nails done. They're like, oh, okay, I'll call you after. And I'm like, yes, that's what I like to hear. Call me later, not now. Can't talk now. Dude, you need to come to my nail slot 'cause everybody's got their AirPods in, having like one sided conversations with people. That's what I'm saying. I'm like, this is the time to just look at the sky, like, see what's going on. Just do nothing. I like that if I say like, oh, I'm getting my nails done, like no one can bother me. It's getting your nails done and getting massaged, or like the two things that people are like, oh, okay, I'll call you after. It's like forced meditation in a way. Like you're just in your brain at that point because someone else has your

"Let's move on to the women's draw. Which is also been brilliant today and we got two quarterfinals set up from the bottom half of the draw that I, my mouth is watering for quite frankly, Sloane Stephens. His decided to do the thing which we always know she can do, but so relatively rarely seems to do. And that is be effortlessly brilliant for the second time this tournament she's won 12 games in a row in a match. And 24 of 27 points in the second set to beat Jill teichmann 16 6 love. I mean, my assumption was teichmann's injured when I was hearing that stone Stevens was winning these games consecutively and in particular those points and Hannah, who was watching the match. She said, oh no, she's absolutely fine. But she's getting beaten like a drum was how Hannah puts it because Stevens was just in that just in that mode when she can kind of do that to anyone when she's on. And make it look just disgustingly easy. She actually had to apologize to the Jill Teigen fans in her post match interview. Did Sloane Stephens because we discussed two days ago, didn't we? How taken we were with the teichmann support? She had her own shadow singing section going on, you know, seriously animated support and slave Stevens said to apologize to them all personally. You said I really liked you. We all liked Jill. Well, dealt that out to it. I feel so tall because I just love to see it. I love to see Sloane Stephens play like this. She's a dream. But I also still don't trust it because you just can't. You've got to put your fingers in the fire too many times. You just got to take it round at a time and enjoy it on its merits because it's true. And she won't know either. There are some players who can put your house on. They're going to deliver their best stuff in a big match. She isn't one of them. She never has been she never will be. I don't think, but she can do it. And when she does it, it's worth it. She's one of those that a bit like Naomi Osaka in this way is a tournament goes on. She's less and less likely to let you down. Now that she's into the quarterfinals, I do feel slightly surer of her that she at least won't throw in a stinker. You know, I think she will be competitive at the very least in her quarterfinal, which will be against coco gough. That could be a great speaking of somebody that delivers and feels reliable. Coco Goff is starting really to feel like that person. Mentally particularly, I think, she's just such a good competitor. And wired that way, I think. I mean, I think her bigger issue is technical. Or it has been. I think maybe on clay because she has more time in the forehand, it's less of an issue and I haven't heard about too many double thought problems this fortnight, but whereas Sloane Stephens doesn't appear to have any technical issues. It's just that sometimes she doesn't really turn up, and I think you get that with coca cough. So potentially, I think this could be a really great match. Yeah, I think so, too. And Chris clary again said today that the tennis cocoa goth played at the end of the first set started the second set was the best he's ever seen from her. And it was a bit of a funny match because it was against Elise mertens and the first set was a real tussle. Golf kept breaking and then mertens would just break back straight away. And she wasn't quite able to accelerate ahead. It was a bit edgy, but then the end of the set, she just raised her game and then she flew through the second set really, really quickly, and like you say, I do think the clay is a great surface for golf. She's a junior champion here. She reached the quarter finals last year. She does have that extra time on the ball, her defense seems to work really well on this surface. She can also inject pace with her backhand and yeah, she hasn't dropped a set all tournament and yeah. I mean, her biggest mess of the day was actually not knowing the belief in king said that pressure is a privilege. She said, I don't know who said that, but I like it. I reckon someone's told her, he said that. And she'll now never forget. I asked her a couple of questions in her in her post match press conference. I asked her how tipped me off about something Jessica had said about coco golf a couple of days ago and sort of indicating that there had been chatter in the locker room, particularly among the Americans about how much the drawer had opened up. So I asked her about that, you know, how conscious she's been of, you know, a reference the fact that from the outside, so many of the matches had felt so loaded because of the amount of opportunity there is. And I said, is it felt that way to you? How conscious have you been of that opportunity? And she kind of said, she didn't deflect. She said, kind of, yes, and no, you know, I'm aware of the seeds that have lost, but she said, I don't really see it in terms of opportunity anymore, but she said a year ago I did. And she referenced the quarterfinal that she lost a year ago and she said she was particularly bummed about losing that quarterfinal because she felt like she could have beaten the plays left in the semifinals. She was looking ahead and thinking, oh, but it was such an opportunity because so many of the top names had lost. And she basically said that, I mean, part of it is her own maturation and evolution, you know, she's still only 18. But she also said the U.S. open last year changed her mindset and changed a lot of players mindsets about what's possible and what counts as opportunity. Because of radar carne. Because you've had iconic and Fernández. Right. And that was really fascinating. And of course, why wouldn't it? Why wouldn't that make pretty much anyone believe that things are possible? So she was kind of like what seemed like opportunity. Yeah, redefines opportunity, really, doesn't it? Was it critique of a beta last year? Yeah, 'cause that's a good match. I can't remember how. I got a feeling there was a good set. 'cause I definitely I've been waiting for a breakthrough and I feel like I've put her in the final at the outset of the tournament. Because I just think she's going to get there. I don't want to I don't want it to be the one where I don't pick her. That was the philosophy that got me picking parallel budos for 6 consecutive weeks in March and April. Anyway, anyway, I think you could be on to something, David. I'm very excited about all four semifinalists. All four course finest that we have in this section of the draw quite frankly, we've got golf against the Stevens..

"She is a breakdown like in her matching against Zachary, given whatever situation she found a sibling, she came roaring back. Yeah, really good cork control and kind of playing very aggressive and obviously helped by that improvement in her serve and when she's got that confidence as well and she's sort of really on it. She, you know, she's very tough to be. And like I was saying, her four finals that she's won four titles now. Interestingly, she's won two enclaves on hard, so definitely not maybe a clay called to the some people might have claimed that she was going to be after winning Roland Garros as her first ever title. She obviously proving that on a hard court, she's just as effective. She's only dropped 11 games in her four finals in total, so she's a big game player, isn't she? She definitely she really kind of brings it when she gets to the final. I think there are some, I think, questions when she maybe is en route and that's where we sometimes see her run into trouble and maybe there is an upset on the cards. But certainly when she gets to the business end of the tournament, she is ready to go and I know we always talk about she on tech and her mental toughness and the fact that she got sports psychologists really kind of helping her and I think particularly that big game mentality. She has got that nailed down, hasn't she, because yeah, her dominance in the finals has been very, very impressive and in big finals as well. Grand Slam finals, WTA 1000 finals. She just goes in with such a positive and affirmative attitude that it really kind of translates onto the tennis court. And I think it's quite a lot of players cold and it caught, I think, cultivate a cold in this final. And I think she on tech was even just a little bit frustrated, you know, because I think genuinely it could have been, it could have been 6 love 6 love again. It was that much of a commanding performance. But yeah, she certainly is a player who likes is ready for the big occasion and I think that's why we think of her as a player who is a multiple Grand Slam champion because when it does get to those kind of pressure situations in those big moments, you look at her and you think, yeah, she's a player unlike a Maria thackeray who she's ready to handle the occasion. Yeah, definitely. And I think cultivate she said after the match that she didn't perform as well mentally today, like on the day, you know, with her emotions and she was really struggling on serve, obviously. She only won two games, so she was getting broken pretty much a lot of the time. But all credit to siobhan tech definitely the better player on the day and cultivate obviously still having a great tournament, you know, she beat us to Panko in the semi who, you know, has been in very good form of late and hasn't quite managed to continue her win streak, but getting to the final proving that she's right up there and her kind of good form of the last 6 months or so is definitely continuing as well. So I think she'll still be looking at it from a fairly positive angle. I mean, we both cultivate oster penko in that bottom half semifinal. That was probably two of the most informed players on the tour at the moment. So for me, that was a really fascinating one. I did kind of laugh him because cultivate en route to the final. She had a matching Elise mertens in the third round. She got bagel in midway through. She wanted 6 three love 6, 6 two, which I thought was sort of an odd score line because we don't really associate cultivate kind of go walk about mid matches, like maybe we do with some other players, but yeah, it was a very good, it was a very another very, very good showing from contaminate and again, she will be just sort of rising up the rankings. I think I've even seen talk of her potentially given how little I think she has to defend coming up. I think there's a chance she could be getting up there. Well, maybe even dare I say the next world number one, given the way she's playing, how far she's reaching in tournaments and the lack of points she has to defend. It's not a completely far off suggestion. So certainly she is still playing some very, very good tennis, but at the same time tech, just very, very better on the day in that final. Yeah, definitely. And also in the doubles we had coco Goff and Jesse pigula winning, which was nice. I think that's the first title that they've won together quite a new pairing, gulf usually plays with Katie mcnally. But I guess mcnally wasn't high enough rank to get into the thousand or she's just wasn't playing. But yeah, nice for them winning the doubles. But we also had a WTA event in Guadalajara, this past week. So two 50 event out on the hard courts in Mexico. And Sloane Stephens won this event, which is nice to see because we feel like this is hopefully the start of a little resurgence. It's her first title in almost 5 years. She's been out in the wilderness for a long time, but she managed to beat Marie baz kava in the final in three sets, 6 two in the third set it was. So yeah, I don't know if this means that zone Stevens is suddenly going to do stuff. This season, but I hope that it does, so I hope it's a good omen. Certainly, it was, it was another great reminded me, I think, of the form of Yale osteen and how she's another single slam champion having that resurgence and seeing this title win. I was actually startled by how long it's been since Sloane Stephens had won her last WTA Tour title, almost 5 years. I mean, that just doesn't feel right. You know, we've seen we know stone Stevens talent. We saw that when she won the U.S. open. And with that talent, you just think she shouldn't be going without 5. She shouldn't be going 5 years without a title. And it makes me think, you know, with her, you know, I think confidence has been a big thing. You know, I think there have been things going on in her life as well that I think have sort of understandably put her focus elsewhere off the tennis, but I think she must be in a really good place now. You know, she's happily. She got married recently. And I think her, I think she's in a very, very good place. And although I think it's taken a bit more obviously time to get there and find her game, as I said, when she is able to put it together, it's been very, very impressive, and she's had some very gutsy wins this week. You know, she had that win against Daria saville, who beat emirati Khan in the first round, which we'll get onto in the quarters from a set down. And then in the final as well. I mean, yes, she took that first set 7 5, but saw that I think the frailties, I think, that we normally associate sadly at the moment, I think was saint Stephen's visiting that middle set 6 one, but to come roaring back in that final set 6 too. It just showed, I think, how much she wanted it. And as I said, I think it will give her so much confidence going forward. And I think that's the thing that sort of is the missing ingredient, I think, at the moment, we've seen Stevens, I think we know that she's a really, really talented player on the tennis court. I think confidence is the big thing for her that is normally missing. And to put a string of victories together in a two 50 event, I think she will say it's been a very smart move to kind of be out away from the light of the WTA 1000 in Doha, get some successive victories together, win a title, yeah, really, really happy for her. Yeah, and I've just looking at the drawer actually, obviously, seeing Stevens path through. Zinc busker gets the final. She's not one a title yet, despite being in three final, so I think maybe she might want to get on the phone to feel in tech and have a chat with her. What's your tip, Sega? I was pleasantly surprised to see Sara cerebral tormo when two matches without going to a third set tiebreak. That was a nice change up. And I can see now that K two mcnally was in action in Guadalajara instead of Doha. So leaving coco Goff to win the doubles without her, but I mean, obviously at the start of the week, we were all looking forward to the emirate of Carney,.

"Camera goes off, you're gonna tell me how those two are. I can give you the type of player. Okay. Okay. So what I don't like is someone that on their day is just what can I do? You know? That's just going to blow me off the court. Big serve. Okay, here I played Pliskova now in U.S. open and I don't know how many aces she hit. I had no looks in the whole match. And then you get nervous on your serve one, two breaks, and it's gone. And I hate matches like that where it's just kind of taken away from you because they're on. So probably just gave it away. But to be fair, she's not my favorite, but I do want to play it more and more just to figure it out. You like the third person over time that interview does that play? Like that just, you know, did it start? But you got a booth hang. Who got a big serve? So, you know, you could simulate that kind of pressure playing practice sets against them. You know what? Don't let me break you. And then put the pressure on me. I can't even practice my returns with him because my arm literally hurts. If I even know where it's going, I may contact and it's just so different. Yeah, so he hits the ball so hard. He does look good. He hits it so big that sometimes it's not fun. But we're so competitive with each other. I go out there thinking I should win two 11 without a serve. And I don't. Well, if you're definitely being a backhand backhand cross court games. 100%. But I got to take away the slice, you know? I got to take it away. So he's like one leg backhand. And then I went. I mean, he doesn't want to see that. Just take away the slice. Tell me you can't run around it. That's what we do. And that's when, you know, I also get him on a day when he's a little mentally fragile, the Italian drama kicks in. And then I got it. So do you know how to push those buttons? I mean, see, I'm hearing, you know, I'm here with my wife and I was like, you know, when I'm mentally fragile, I was going to come in and ask me for something. He knows how to press mine way better than I know because he doesn't have as many. I have more buttons. But yeah, it's just I'm not the type. I'm just about the game. I'm not about this trash talk. So when he starts it, he will win that he'll win a match like that. So I try to keep it away from that. Yeah, just tennis. So last question. Croatian. Via Australia or playing for the Australian national team living in Florida. Tell me about your tennis journey. How did you end up all these different places? So I actually lived four years in Switzerland that you didn't know when I was a kid. That was a baby. And then we moved back to Croatia and I was just a kid that loved tennis. So I would like even when I was going to regular school, I would wake up early like 6 due practices before, and then after as well..

We've got TP, Tommy Paul, doing what we all know he can do. On the women's side, we've got Shelby Rogers, following up her great performance at the U.S. open with another style of performance at Indian Wells. We've got the emergence of parliament dosa kicking ass and taking names. And we have got Vika, Victoria Azarenka. Resurgence after her injury in Chicago. And speaking of Mika, she's one of our guests on this week's podcast. This week's episode features Victoria Azarenka, isle of tomjanovich, talking about the roles between being a player and having a sit in stance and play the role of cheerleaders. Supporting her boo. A tale berry teeny. And we've got the always entertaining, always one of my favorite people to sit down with Sloane Stephens. Talking about live on tour, advice to the next generation and trying to turn the tables on. Asking me a few questions. Stay tuned for this week's episode of the tenant dot com podcast. Remember last year when Charleston, when it was raining and you were dancing? I was dancing. Do you want to do a TikTok? I want to talk about the full story of that. Let's go ahead and tell the full story. Yes, I was dancing for TikTok because I was just fresh off the quarantine. I mean, it's kind of. It was our first kind of event. And I was super into TikTok. So I was like trying to make it fun coming back. But then the last day do you remember? No. And I was hoping the tennis channel did have some footage of it, where I started to be a DJing, and when I raised and your eyes went just what did I play because I played an explicit version of one song and everybody starts to freak out.

"Are you seeing, um, a trend here or something that has changed when it comes to the Women's tennis Association and women who are saying, Look, we're really struggling with some things that are going on here. Yes, And I'm seeing it with women and men, and I think it's a whole combination of factors when you include the pandemic and how that impacted everything. Tennis players were really hit hard by that, because it's such a global sport. You've got the advent of social media, more gambling. The solo aspect is one thing. So you're out there on court, just trying to beat the other person and you're really doing it all by yourself. Now these top top players that make a whole lot of money They can pay to surround themselves with a coach or fitness trainer Cook, but it's even harder when your lower ranked and you don't have the money to fund somebody to travel with you. And that's I think, an aspect that makes tennis so difficult. The financial burden is all on the player. The players pay their own travel if they don't get into the The major tournament. It's a significant financial hit, so all of those aspects combined make it pretty difficult. This week, we saw Naomi Osaka again to discuss for mental health, saying she's going to step away from the game for a while. That's a little different than what we saw from Sloane Stephens. Who revealed some of the tweets that she's gotten that were just terrific. And Shelby Rogers do you see a difference in all of these? I mean, two. We're talking about social media, one mental health or they all combined. I do see a difference because we've talked a lot about Naomi Osaka this summer, going back to the French Open when she opted not to do the press conference there and that set off a bit of a firestorm led to her sitting out for a couple of months. And now she wants to take another break. I mean, she's somebody who has been open about struggling with mental health in the past, and this seems like a situation where she's not happy and wants to try to address that and try to fix that. So that's one area of concern here. The other area of concern that you mentioned with Sloane Stephens past US Open champion and Shelby Rogers, who beat the number one player in the world. Ashleigh Barty, then lost her following match. Yes, it's a huge problem. You get people messaging. These players horrific, horrific things on social media. This happens to men and women as well off the times. It's people who have put money on the particular match and They lose the money, and they're not happy, so they want to take out their frustrations by sending a really vile string of words to somebody in a direct message on Instagram. There's always been gambling on sports, but now it's more front center, so maybe it probably is drawing in more people. Tennis is also unique in that it is one of the most popular sports to gamble on worldwide because at all levels of the sport, there's tennis almost every single day, all hours of the day, so it is very easy to find something to bet on. Does not excuse it, but it's a minority of people that are going to send these kinds of messages and even Shelby Rogers. She even said that night that she was going to focus on the positive and she came back a day later and said, essentially, yeah, these are gross. But you know, I have gotten a lot more positive messages supporting my career. But you can't help but notice those really hurtful and disgusting Once is there a difference between the men and the women? We're hearing more from the women. We are hearing more from the women, but I don't think there's much of a difference. Marty Fish, who was an American top 10 player about a decade ago, was going to the U. S open to play Roger Federer and he was in his car from Manhattan and had an anxiety attack and he couldn't play that day. And it set off this really ongoing battle between Mardy Fish and anxiety it significantly impact at the end of his career as a player, and he's out now with a new Netflix show about his struggle. It's called untold. We can, you know, talk to a some kind of psychologist about whether maybe there's a more of a stigma about men speaking out. I do think it's there for both the men and the women as something to deal with, and it kind of remains to be seen. How if players are taking advantage you do hear players say I'm working with sports psychologist That's made a huge difference. But there is still that kind of barrier that a lot of players and a lot of people put up before they say. Okay, I'm working with Somebody.

She could be on for five or six so yeah that would be impressive. Say but i'm yeah. Look out that and Well there is actually a bit more before we finish. Joe because although it's very much right and garros we've got the star of the girl season happening like as we speak about tomorrow technically today rather not thing. Yeah we've nottingham. Nottingham in stuttgart stuttgart starts on tuesday. I have i'm really fascinated. See the joy out yet. Imagine there's been a lot of Withdraw rules and what no. I'm sort of curious. That draw looks like it was a grad is guy gone for the men but we do have the w. two fifty event in nottingham. Joe concer is the top seed Alison risk is the second see. Donovan catches their So yeah it's i mean it's an interesting. It's an interesting one because as the counter top seed. You would hope that she would be able to potentially do you. Well here You know there's a lot of as you can imagine. There's not a lot of big big names as it's definitely some players in there who you would say kind of strong cross risk in in vacuum which By really think the in from a content perspective. This is know this really now is the opportunity to to really kind of rejuvenate and kick start her season. She's a decent. Draw you to get the quarters for sure. But my eyes are on allison risk at the bottom of the draw. Thank you know. She has such a girl scout specialist. Lauren davis as well decent gross. I a plays radiates be very hard to predict this wadden. I see emirati cardi doll in the first round so all british in counter and it will be interesting to see how the likes of katie boulter. Get on francesca jones yet as a braids in action and it will be so nice to have girls schools back you know. We had zero girls action loss. Gsa it'll be delightful. Have it on again and got the challenger as well for the men Happening at the same time anti murray is not their most nature play But we do have data evans as the top seed for that one. Yeah and and francis. Oh so there's definitely plays there who wouldn't necessarily be playing on the challenge tour but want to start the season and get matches in potentially get a competitive advantage over those players who are still left. A in in roland garros. I mean kevin since the fourth seed in an atp It's like it's not your regular rather the bill challenger is it's a it's a it's a pretty. It's a pretty good drool But we'll see how that one pans out as you said andy murray is not there. He decided against taking. I think a wildcard into it he is. I think at the all. "Bachelorette season premiere tomorrow. Eight seven central on abc. This is the passing show with joel and kim supported by down tennis dot com. And now we're gonna move on to looking at fridays. Ten of events from girl's day six the tournament and the stall the third round said this is a bit of a rainy day is but if interruption but we still had some absolutely cracking matches and walk because the remaining top seed in the women's drawers thirds eight lenka. She lost her anaesthesia. Jank for quite a bizarre school. I actually she was bagel. Did not lost sad and really her game competely when of boyle and engaged so now like it was upset it went south so quickly adds up eight eight six four two six six love and suppling off to a good start i think she went three level and then pops just kind of fired back and then he thought supple ince you sorting sourcing yourself out and i couldn't second-set sixty. Hey we guy you can share what you're made off show you ready to deepen a slab windows matches the you know the tricky ones and yet just completely yup. We'll we'll we'll so for me. What was so bizarre about it. Was they played each other. In madrid in the semifinals. And although i think of was i think she was. One hundred percent match fit in in that match but salamanca just wiped her off the court and from that from that match i was just there was no hope in. Hell that the pathogen cover will be able to to current events that and get her revenge but she was eight she was able to and again. She's older she's no. I think the she has been around. She has been around for a while. Now pathogen cover. And she's got a lot of experience behind think she used in her a victory against saba lenka. She converted five of ten bright points. She fired twenty two winners. Only sixteen unforced errors and it was impressive. How how it came back. And i think it adds i think to the fat. The madrid plays very differently to very low garros and perhaps that you know the conditions in right on garros because they're different to to madrid made. That didn't help. stop lenka pump. The tank was as a rank next Who came through a very dominating fashion which i think surprise surprise me. Surprised people think jens madison keys six to sixteen. So i mean. I still think as a rank is very good shout. Hearing in going potentially to quarter-final semifinal maybe even a final But yeah that's another fascinating match up. That's that's on the cards in round. Four yeah i think that's i on today so i shall be having a another pano shock on a nice cup of tea to that one. I've gone down the power producer shock. Reach since i mentioned the other day. I've gone out and got some say is your. You're following the elite elite athletes elite producer. Dieter yep i will be back in the day. I didn't know if he still has. It refers quite a fan of light teller and chocolate so it oversee works for elite level elite level spaniard. So i'm i'm taking a leaf out of that book bobby jennifer. She did have a medical timeout in that much. So i take no. She was much in this one. I take notice. Apple inca underestimated the match in the run-up based on that prior showing madrid because they need to look like she had a plan bay. And i really think she needs to work on adding a lot. More variety 'cause she call it just blast the board and expect that to always work. Say maybe that's why she lost that dot third-set six love. You know she. She was like you know it's issues of realizing nothing was working and she didn't have anything in ahead to to to to kind of change and even though she won that second set. Yeah it perhaps is something that she needs to address. Because i don't think. I don't think having just one sort of game will will win. You win your competition. I mean we'll come onto it. But i think john isn't it kind of shows that against conscious passed in the sense that we know he's got a very big serve and he can he. He can hit some groundstrokes hearing that but he's quite relying on his serve. And that might get you to the second week of a grand slam but it's not gonna win the competition absolutely yeah hundred percent groove that one publishing also doing quite well in the doubles She's with elena rob akina. They're still in the in the draw in the women's doubles on rubber. kena is going strong in the singles. as well. she's got serena williams next. She came through against bush nina. I think it was the one. That benefited from kavita withdrawing. If i'm right so you know. And obviously the machine is kind of newly comeback from like batanes e- essentially say. Yeah rob akina doing quite well. We'll see i think. Last year at the start the season she was on the right route and we were talking about having since then it's kind of stagnated debate. So it's kind of nice that she's pulling together by a string of wins by calling. I called and see how beating serena williams. I think serena's beating in actually like much better form than i thought she was going to be and she came through collins in straight-sets and i thought that one could have been a bit of a three-set tussle. I was quite impressed. Actually with serena especially. I heard two leaves in the first round tournament say. She's definitely exceeding my expectations. I think we say so. Far with the three serena williams. She's been getting better and better and better with each match and what was so impressive about collins. Victory was the fact that she was. She was four one down in that second set and she wanted into and it was you know it was a point in the match where i think. Even someone as great serena williams. I think regular fans were looking at it like own collins could could go and run here and potentially win it. In three but serena williams again just put in a very very strong performance from a situation that that did look a little bit powerless in that second set and you came out with twenty two winners Twenty twenty unforced errors and she's still in the competition and i think that's the i genuinely think for a lot of the top seeds that has been the name of the really his genuinely. I think thou- like last last women seed standing because everyone is is sort of dropping like flies always withdraw rose very balti soccer kavita. Whoever and it's just about getty through one match at the time. And i think you know you look at how it's unfolding came. You gotta think that. I can't genuinely think of a draw that has been opened up this much for her in terms of have reaching a final and if she has got serious serious ambitions of of of winning a slam twenty four. I with this drawer. That she's got left. You would say that it's it's it's a better chance than is a better chance than the than the other jurors. She's she's potentially have gone so far since you know this. This quest is become a thing. Yeah i i feel like could be a and tech serena final in which case i think that'd be fascinating because you've got this sort of like oversee the defending champion new kid. It on the block. Still against serena on her quest for twenty four and that would be a real I i'd still probably give sean take the edge. But if serena it got to that point still and was playing really well. Then i'll just be. Yeah very intriguing. But i'm getting ahead of myself. I mean serena's are in is still bobby serena serena's had had record his rule pretty good against as a rancor assuming they've come through that round full matches we'll just have to kind of wait and see but i certainly think things. Opening up the serena williams she can continue on this upward trajectory of playing better with each match particularly i think coupled with know experience obviously the latter ends of of talk at the latter ends of tournament. I think that experience will really come in to come into the four in in this in this half whereas all the those big season dropping and in in a way not getting household names kind of coming through and you know one of those names that potentially might might come through. The tournament is is is powder producer because we got to talk about that barbosa dr match because i think that for me was was botched if the back to the total cost. Pay the the men's on and women's draws besa came out of it to six seven six six four. The final sat both players. Were playing.

"He's having a good having a good tournament. Lost six one six four but also sake of secon split up with her adad as a cage so that something something interesting that it's happened you know. This is just the first time it's happened and we shouldn't be surprised that she's in round four because you know she's shown in the past the when whenever she's been playing terribly or we think she's been playing terribly in the the woman she's able to bring it out on the on the biggest stage of all and thing that shows a lot about her her mentality in our approach. The fat i think she is a big game player. She might not necessarily be like a a caroliina fishkhabur for example. Who normally sort of racks up the. Yeah the the the titles on the on the on the w. t. a tool but not necessarily as able to translate that to slams. Well it feels. Like kenan is the the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Yeah that's a very good point. She she knows when to bring it doesn't shave at the she. She brings a when it matters. And that is the slams. I think also you know she. She kind of has it where she wants it because she doesn't like tapping the pressure in the tool can expectation on her. Say the fact that she's the fourth seed and we're not really talking about her Perhaps now it's probably what she wants. She doesn't need tension a now. I don't know if i was her. You know i'd want to be in that situation. So yes she may. She flounder the radar but she may go deep. She's got maria sakari next He came through against the lease martians. Anything kenan could could win that one Having a great tournament she actually said she went away for a holiday before coming to paris. Which i think is obviously done done. Wonders pops up the recipe for success. She went to a nice little greek island which sounds ovallis so can her ideal kind of lead up to talk lose really badly to play but sakari approach is having a have a nice little holiday have unless the whole lay destination and chill out is at the is that the is that the approach. Yeah i mean if i had cheese one approach definitely gave call reason. Yeah beach not playing tennis for five days that that will definitely yeah perhaps work. What magic. But i'm also you just mentioned creek. She she beats. Serena in straight-sets Yesterday which was perhaps a bit of a surprise at the school. I and it was six. Three six t But see she's playing really well. She had a good good running ramos. Well say off to see. See how she She how she continues going through the drew. And then just the night on sloan stevens. Well who's say still going strong at much too. I think most people surprise as she came through against carrying a merkava. He was it. All collector set at the wrong in my prediction as a result of his match. But yeah it's nice against cease slain putting some much wins together and she is a great move on clay like we know she can play like streaming you well on this surface. She's been to a final and It's a long time coming. The she's kind of back in this kind of vein of form is perhaps. I think she's actually across. Both joel's is perhaps the most pleasing is the most pleasing victories. i think i'm seeing a founded. The movement is is this rise of saint stephen's and again. She looked very very good against carolina. Macabre six three seven five. She's reached the fourth tau fourth round here for the seventh time she loves you. She's think movement is one of the biggest strong points and it's it helps have in paris and although record has been not kind of yeah coming into the classes and she's really been able to build up a head of steam and it's really been great to see. I think she plays cocoa gulf next. Who came through jennifer braid age brady unfortunately had to retire. I think her movement was hump to pampered by her foot. Took golf won. The fess at six one and brady kind of cool there day but yet coca gulf slain stevens that is going to be another blockbuster encounter from two players. Who will i think. I think that will be very. I think i. I'd actually know how that is gonna go but that is going to be another really match up because i think st. stephen's somme has got the bit between the teeth at the moment but i think i got golf as as the same so you know that. Sort of trying to make the make the most of of ashkenazi with earlier on. Yeah and if it wasn't for rafeh against sinner i'd say that that would be a great shout for the night match but i feel of say they'll probably gave her for but yeah we're gonna take a quick break now but do join us in the second half will be looking back on the results from day. Six french open to go.
