"On the 8s, let's go to Rita Kessler in the traffic center. Well, the weather is certainly affecting the traffic right now, Mark. We've got rain falling throughout the area slicker at roadways are becoming a problem and you really need to reduce your speeds as crashes are starting to pile up. Let's start out on the southeast Southwest freeway or northbound three 95 in the district. The delay actually begins before the 14th street bridge as this solid across the case bridge headed to the northbound third street tunnel, the problem is the crash at the ramp to the northbound third street tunnel has the ramp blocked. Now you are able to squeeze into the northbound third street tunnel, right at the end of where the crash scene is right before you have to continue on to the freeway. So you are able to eke around it, but make sure you stay around it to the left side and then you get over it to get into the tunnel. So you can get there. It looks like you can't, but you can get there as you try to get past it. Again, the delay is on three 95 before the 14th street bridge. Now southbound D.C. two 95 has the volume from burrows passing east capital street. Northbound slows passing Pennsylvania avenue. We have the problems on the beltway. There was the mobile work crew that looks like they may have called it a day. They were last seen near route one in college park. They were along the left side. The inner loop, however, has the delays that are after the Baltimore Washington Parkway. Near the good luck road overpass trying to head all the way past route 50. This is a wreck taking the right side, actually the left side of the roadway, it is the two right lanes that are getting by the crash, the outer loop has the rubber necking from two O two, headed to four 50. Now we do have the delay in both directions on the beltway headed towards Georgetown pike, the work was taken the left lane both ways, the inner loop slows out of tysons. Now the outer loop has the delay near river road, but now within the delay, on the American legion bridge, the crash is along the right side. The earlier problem on 95 in Virginia, it is southbound 95 near the Prince William Parkway, the right lane was blocked with the broken down vehicle, also we had a motorcade going through around three 55 at Cedar lane earlier this morning, looks like they may be leaving because the roadway was reported blocked on three 55 in both directions near Cedar lane. "Montana depends on summer tourism. It is near Yellowstone National Park, but unprecedented flooding in June closed the road that connects the town to the park. Over the weekend, a newly paved road opened again, which could be a lifeline. Here's Yellowstone public radio Olivia wheats. As we drive up the newly paved road just outside gardener, you look down on the river canyon, and it's there you see the old damaged road fading away. Look above and the snow capped hills come into view. We stopped by the side of this new road with Yellowstone superintendent cam chali. He says, before they paved it, this was a ten foot wide dirt path from the 1870s. Are people going to want to drive it? Absolutely. I mean, I think it's a gorgeous road. People need to be careful. It's safe. But it's steep and it's curvy, just like a lot of mountainous passes and roads. The park was hoping to open the road in the middle of October to catch the last couple of weekends of tourists, but Shelly says putting in guardrails and why do we mean the path took a little longer? A little bit of a delay, but the reality is when you're dealing with something that's so dynamic to be able to do it in four months, plus two weeks is, I think, really incredible. We drove back to Gardner, and it's there that I met Caroline slicker. And so now I'm just removing all my utensils. That hang on the wall all summer. She's closing down her food truck for the season. This was her first year in business. She actually opened in May just before the flooding. Locals and park employees kept the food truck going. During that time, Caroline could look out the back of her food truck and see the road taking shape. But with a lack of tourists, she even closed for a week in early October. Whenever you think it can't get slower, it die. And it would be like that every day I would be like, oh, this ain't bad then the next day would be slower. The next day would be slower. The main tourism season is now over. But this new route will stay open for any winter visitors planning on cross country skiing or taking in the local wildlife. That's keeping superintendent cam Shelly, optimistic. We'll look forward to a good winter season and having two to 3000 cars come down this road every single day next summer. And for Caroline, now her food truck is closed for the time being, she'll actually be spending a lot of the winter on this new road. We know that the flu comes around every year. We didn't have one last year because people didn't gather and we didn't mass or people masked if we this year don't mask and we gather We're gonna be back to a regular flu season. And for those who argue that nobody's really dying from this good at the death rate is in soaring and that people aren't dying. But the amount of people that are getting incredibly sick and maybe on oxygen for the rest of their life or have limitations on what they can do. To me themselves. The reality is it's not just covid that's getting impacted anymore. It is impacting everyone who touches the health care system. Is impacting our ability to get blood to get people to provide their to be able to have space to care for you So don't just say I won't die from Covid. It's no biggie. You're going to die, potentially because you get in a car accident, 95, and there's nowhere to provide care of you. There's no space for you. There's no blood supply to take care of you when you got that critical internal bleeding because you're busted your spleen in your car accident, so Please don't think that it's only about Covid. It's about every other disease that is getting impacted. Now there is a little bit of good news. The I H M Me. Latest modeling that came out on Friday does suggest that Several states are entering this peak, and that includes Washington State. However, it's a very, very slow moving peak. It's more of a plateau and basically what I was saying at this point is that Regardless of what we do they expect for Covid 19 friends Mission and the burden of the health care system, too likely extend well past their forecast period, which is the end of the year and well into 2022 beyond now, on top of that, the school vaccinations that are going to be required. And there that was the last one in King County. You could go to and not be masked. And at least half if not much more of the people there were not masked up. Yeah. Now I was shopping in Snohomish County yesterday. A I didn't notice anybody messed up in the stores is you have to mask up on the stores to now. You are supposed to be masked up, and there's an indoor mask mandate. You bet everyone is that is a state level indoor mask and Kelly's can't opt out of that one. No, they're not. They cannot And I think believes several of the counties have done that on their own as well. I do have seen folks in Snohomish County who don't do that. It's uh there's a little less buy in and Snohomish County. I think that in, say, King County, but Mhm. For the most part, every place I've been I've seen people masking up inside. Cairo radios. Those are kids under the age of 12. Who cannot get the vaccine. That includes people. Who are immuno compromised in some sense. A mask helps everyone But when we were particularly helps those innocent Children Who cannot protect themselves with the vaccine into 12. It allows us hopefully to continue to allow them to be in school. And it protects our loved ones who can't take the vaccine because they're you know, compromised in some sense. Now. So starting today, not only do you have to wear your mask indoors, expand our current facial covering requirements. To include the large outdoor events of over 500 people. It's very similar to the measures recently adopted by King and Pierce County. Again. This is an expansion of our existing order. For everyone Age five and up to her mask and all indoor public settings as well, regardless of vaccination status, So this adds to that essentially Existing requirement. The top stories from the Coma 24 7 news Center as the number of covert cases continues to plateau, health administrators around the state say we still have a few major issues. Almost Brian Calvert tells us. One of those problems is that the virus is still spreading. Washington's current transmission rate is 1.5. Health officials say. It needs to be less than one we are seeing, you know, Hospitalizations getting pretty high again. Dr. Nathan Slicker is with the state Medical Assis. Association. People need to still be doing distancing wearing masks. Transmission remains high, but demand for the vaccine is falling. In Pierce County alone, currently stuck it phase two hundreds of doses. They're going unused daily, for example, that Tacoma Dome side open to the public back on April 27th with the ability to give over 1100 vaccines a day since opening 12 days ago, the site has given a total Just over 6000 doses. As of May 3rd only 25% of Pierce County residents were fully vaccinated. Brian Calvert Co. Monje the latest numbers from over the weekend, 1497 new cases reported on Saturday. 99 more people hospitalized, and so far the state has now administered 5.7 million doses of vaccine. Berenson Snoqualmie are demanding a full return to in person learning for the remaining six weeks of school. But the school board decided that would be too disruptive to student learning right now, in the words of Superintendent Rob Manninen. Therefore, we will stay the course and continue with our current hybrid learning and remote options for the remainder of this year. Currently, currently, students attend in person two days a week and remotely two days week. School district. So does plan to return to full in person learning in the fall. The State Transportation Commission starts the process tomorrow of possibly raising fares and tolls across the state. Because the drop in traffic during the pandemic has reduced revenue. But it turns out it's actually kind of true it is somehow able to create one of the most believable fictionalized world I've ever interacted with. And there is something about this game that it does better than any other game out there where it is chock filled with characters events environmental effects and things that convince you one hundred percent through and through that you are in this western world, and it makes Westworld look like city slickers. So what did you like about the game? And also would didn't you like about the game? So I think for social media they're getting a different game. Now of I think in the past it used to always be okay. What your daily monthly average user or anything like that? And you know, it was a racist. You could get the most users. But now, I think they're more focusing on engagement and like actual users. And that's why they're okay with killing off all these like bought accounts in the past. They were just there, and it kinda help them inflate their numbers a bit to investors.
