"Was my first sleep boy camp in my parents would drive me down and my brother was like mine some soccer turn or so many dropped me off for three days. And I was there when I was in elementary school and it was like the era of the Rashad mccants Shawn may. Jawad Williams, Raymond Felton team. And gotta say, Rashad mccants was exactly like he was reported to be. The only one who wouldn't sign autographs for the ten year old kid, which I still want the money to this day. Y'all didn't deserve it. I forgot about Serge slicker. Oh, forgot about. I remember Eric mantras, but I forgot about the third. Oh, let's just do UNC names for the rest of the show. Oh, I'm down. Are there any, I feel like we probably covered there's no Aaron Rodgers news up until this point. How much do you think he's loving that? How long can he milk this? He's not, so you and I are going to disagree on this. We don't have, I think he made this point. We don't have to watch this. We don't have to talk about it. We are choosing to. So if he wants to take a long time to answer it, if he is enjoying making his decision and enjoying the attention from it, that's fine. It's not a crime. Everyone who's mad about it. Shut up. I'm tired of talking about it too, but we don't have to talk about it. I roll my role my eyes at it because there's the reaction to the reaction that Aaron Rodgers isn't actually that annoying. He is that annoying. You can't make me think he's not that nice. He's not see the point is. I mean, he may be very annoying. I don't know him personally. But this part of him is not annoying. He's taking his time to make a decision. It's only annoying because we keep talking about it. Stop talking about it. We don't have to talk about it. We don't have to report his darkness retreat. We don't have to every day try to make some news out of some non news event. It's fine. He may be annoying, but this ain't the reason why. I think he's milking it because he's annoying. So what did you think he likes this attention? Well, he didn't have to say a decision is coming soon. And we didn't have to talk about it. That's fine.

"On the 8s, let's go to Rita Kessler in the traffic center. Well, the weather is certainly affecting the traffic right now, Mark. We've got rain falling throughout the area slicker at roadways are becoming a problem and you really need to reduce your speeds as crashes are starting to pile up. Let's start out on the southeast Southwest freeway or northbound three 95 in the district. The delay actually begins before the 14th street bridge as this solid across the case bridge headed to the northbound third street tunnel, the problem is the crash at the ramp to the northbound third street tunnel has the ramp blocked. Now you are able to squeeze into the northbound third street tunnel, right at the end of where the crash scene is right before you have to continue on to the freeway. So you are able to eke around it, but make sure you stay around it to the left side and then you get over it to get into the tunnel. So you can get there. It looks like you can't, but you can get there as you try to get past it. Again, the delay is on three 95 before the 14th street bridge. Now southbound D.C. two 95 has the volume from burrows passing east capital street. Northbound slows passing Pennsylvania avenue. We have the problems on the beltway. There was the mobile work crew that looks like they may have called it a day. They were last seen near route one in college park. They were along the left side. The inner loop, however, has the delays that are after the Baltimore Washington Parkway. Near the good luck road overpass trying to head all the way past route 50. This is a wreck taking the right side, actually the left side of the roadway, it is the two right lanes that are getting by the crash, the outer loop has the rubber necking from two O two, headed to four 50. Now we do have the delay in both directions on the beltway headed towards Georgetown pike, the work was taken the left lane both ways, the inner loop slows out of tysons. Now the outer loop has the delay near river road, but now within the delay, on the American legion bridge, the crash is along the right side. The earlier problem on 95 in Virginia, it is southbound 95 near the Prince William Parkway, the right lane was blocked with the broken down vehicle, also we had a motorcade going through around three 55 at Cedar lane earlier this morning, looks like they may be leaving because the roadway was reported blocked on three 55 in both directions near Cedar lane. For over 35 years in the DMV Greenberg and betterment has helped tens of thousands of clients who've been heard in auto accidents or victims of medical malpractice visit GB lawyers dot com and feel better. I'm Rita Kessler, WTO P traffic. Now, the forecast as The Rain moves in with storm team fours, Mike steinfurt. Off and on showers will scoot across the area the same after this gun turned rather windy. It's going to be quite mild to our highs upper 60s to lower 70s

"Montana depends on summer tourism. It is near Yellowstone National Park, but unprecedented flooding in June closed the road that connects the town to the park. Over the weekend, a newly paved road opened again, which could be a lifeline. Here's Yellowstone public radio Olivia wheats. As we drive up the newly paved road just outside gardener, you look down on the river canyon, and it's there you see the old damaged road fading away. Look above and the snow capped hills come into view. We stopped by the side of this new road with Yellowstone superintendent cam chali. He says, before they paved it, this was a ten foot wide dirt path from the 1870s. Are people going to want to drive it? Absolutely. I mean, I think it's a gorgeous road. People need to be careful. It's safe. But it's steep and it's curvy, just like a lot of mountainous passes and roads. The park was hoping to open the road in the middle of October to catch the last couple of weekends of tourists, but Shelly says putting in guardrails and why do we mean the path took a little longer? A little bit of a delay, but the reality is when you're dealing with something that's so dynamic to be able to do it in four months, plus two weeks is, I think, really incredible. We drove back to Gardner, and it's there that I met Caroline slicker. And so now I'm just removing all my utensils. That hang on the wall all summer. She's closing down her food truck for the season. This was her first year in business. She actually opened in May just before the flooding. Locals and park employees kept the food truck going. During that time, Caroline could look out the back of her food truck and see the road taking shape. But with a lack of tourists, she even closed for a week in early October. Whenever you think it can't get slower, it die. And it would be like that every day I would be like, oh, this ain't bad then the next day would be slower. The next day would be slower. The main tourism season is now over. But this new route will stay open for any winter visitors planning on cross country skiing or taking in the local wildlife. That's keeping superintendent cam Shelly, optimistic. We'll look forward to a good winter season and having two to 3000 cars come down this road every single day next summer. And for Caroline, now her food truck is closed for the time being, she'll actually be spending a lot of the winter on this new road. Her other job is driving a coach in Yellowstone National Park, carrying luggage and mail. For NPR news, I'm Olivia weeds and Gardner, Montana. Joe Biden Falls off His Bike

"Well, remember Artie Johnson, one of the stars of laughing, he used to play a character where he had a little yellow slicker on with a little rain hat and he'd ride around on a little tricycle. And he would suddenly just tip over on the tricycle. And that's what all I could think of when Joe Biden toppled over, it was such a well scary scene. When you're knocking on 80, you don't want somebody falling over on a bike. And he just, the scary part was it looked like he collapsed. Donald Trump Jr. tweeted, I'm not sure there's ever been a more perfect metaphor for the current state of our country than Biden falling off his bike while standing still for literally no reason. I mean, the argument is it would have been better if he like hit something or trip fell over something or, you know, but he just stood there and then sort of fell.

"A science denier, despite the fact He thinks he is following the science because he isn't now. Doctor. Nathan slicker is with the he is the head of the State Medical Association. And he says it is vital that we do everything we can as we head into winter couple of things that I think really, for kind of challenging winter for us, Uh one. That I'm a model and other data really suggest that even when we're done with this peak, hopefully in the next month we don't settle back down to the base where we were, uh, previously We don't get back to you know, the roughly 3% of the hospital being full with Covid. If you look at I m H s data really argues that you know, will be holding on to 10 to 12% of our beds with Covid patients in it, Uh, potentially for the winter. That is, we don't have 10 to 12% extra capacity and the health system either in space or in people Now, on top of that, So Kobe is the first head when they're the second major headwind. Is the flu. We know that the flu comes around every year. We didn't have one last year because people didn't gather and we didn't mass or people masked if we this year don't mask and we gather We're gonna be back to a regular flu season. And for those who argue that nobody's really dying from this good at the death rate is in soaring and that people aren't dying. But the amount of people that are getting incredibly sick and maybe on oxygen for the rest of their life or have limitations on what they can do. To me themselves. Happy is enormous, And that's the thing is, people are dying. They're just going to live with a chronic, debilitating disease potentially now and the one he he really wants everyone to keep in mind. The reality is it's not just covid that's getting impacted anymore. It is impacting everyone who touches the health care system. Is impacting our ability to get blood to get people to provide their to be able to have space to care for you So don't just say I won't die from Covid. It's no biggie. You're going to die, potentially because you get in a car accident, 95, and there's nowhere to provide care of you. There's no space for you. There's no blood supply to take care of you when you got that critical internal bleeding because you're busted your spleen in your car accident, so Please don't think that it's only about Covid. It's about every other disease that is getting impacted. Now there is a little bit of good news. The I H M Me. Latest modeling that came out on Friday does suggest that Several states are entering this peak, and that includes Washington State. However, it's a very, very slow moving peak. It's more of a plateau and basically what I was saying at this point is that Regardless of what we do they expect for Covid 19 friends Mission and the burden of the health care system, too likely extend well past their forecast period, which is the end of the year and well into 2022 beyond now, on top of that, the school vaccinations that are going to be required. That's October 8th that all of the school staff have to have those already seeing reports of and she Hollis And Centralia. Only 30% of the school staff have so far proven turned in their proof of vaccination. So some low levels there. Okay. So for Sunday's Seahawks game. Uh, you'd have to wear a mask, then? Yes, but I believe the Seahawks had done that on their own if I'm not mistaken prior to but because I know they were requiring proof of vaccination, but under this mandate, even if you are fully vaccinated, uh and you're in a big crowd outdoors, You still are supposed to wear a mask. Yes, Absolutely. Absolutely. And I had just been that had been in effect. Actually, King County had already done that. NPR's county had already, uh, done that. And now that this is a statewide thing that the governor has expanded, it expanded it to and it's a good idea. I was at the Green Day concert, um, a week ago today. And there that was the last one in King County. You could go to and not be masked. And at least half if not much more of the people there were not masked up. Yeah. Now I was shopping in Snohomish County yesterday. A I didn't notice anybody messed up in the stores is you have to mask up on the stores to now. You are supposed to be masked up, and there's an indoor mask mandate. You bet everyone is that is a state level indoor mask and Kelly's can't opt out of that one. No, they're not. They cannot And I think believes several of the counties have done that on their own as well. I do have seen folks in Snohomish County who don't do that. It's uh there's a little less buy in and Snohomish County. I think that in, say, King County, but Mhm. For the most part, every place I've been I've seen people masking up inside. Cairo radios. Hannah Scott. Thanks, Hannah. You bet It is. A 23 year real time traffic. Here's Chris Sullivan. Not a lot of masking in Montana or Idaho, either over the weekend that was surrounded by 20,000 of my newest friends in Bozeman over the weekend, and not a lot of mask wearing. We felt like the outliers certainly on the drive Right now. We are looking at a Yeah, but it's difficult, but getting better. I think we've.

"Means the governor's latest mask mandate is now officially in effect, and the clock is ticking for school staff in Washington. To turn in their proof of vaccination. Let's go live to Cairo radios. Hannah Scott. Good morning. Good Morning, David. And Welcome back. Thank you. Yeah, so we have most of the kids in the state are now back in school and governor, Inslee says if we wanted to stay that way, we have got to stop the spread of the delta variant using our mass and more people getting vaccines. He's safe. Effective free vaccine. We know masking is one of the things we can do. It's very important to protect all of us, particularly those who cannot protect themselves. Those are kids under the age of 12. Who cannot get the vaccine. That includes people. Who are immuno compromised in some sense. A mask helps everyone But when we were particularly helps those innocent Children Who cannot protect themselves with the vaccine into 12. It allows us hopefully to continue to allow them to be in school. And it protects our loved ones who can't take the vaccine because they're you know, compromised in some sense. Now. So starting today, not only do you have to wear your mask indoors, expand our current facial covering requirements. To include the large outdoor events of over 500 people. It's very similar to the measures recently adopted by King and Pierce County. Again. This is an expansion of our existing order. For everyone Age five and up to her mask and all indoor public settings as well, regardless of vaccination status, So this adds to that essentially Existing requirement. The governor, blaming super spreader events for this new mandate Watershed Festival at the Gorge led to more than 200 infections from that one event. And it was outdoors. The outdoors remain the safest place for people to be. We understand that But when people are packed tightly together, we're getting transmission. An ultimate hospitalizations and death. When you combine large crowds with the delta variant. Without any mitigation measures in place. We're going to keep seeing these super spreader events even in outdoor environments. Science has proven The mass can reduce the risk of those transmission. Now, while many people Cairo seven TV spoke with our on board with this order, I believe that it will make it safer for me to go places and it makes it for other people to this virus is spreading like wildfire and anything that we can do to stop. It is fine with me. Others. Not so much vaccine, according to what I read this morning is adequate to beat the delta variant. Where is the science in this order? Sales be stuck with the old traditional categories. How important is this. Does it make much difference. Well thing is the christie's when they announced this is clearly stated in the publicity a new era in the art world But thinking back in two thousand and fifteen. We had a new era in the world when they had their first twenty twentieth and twenty first century. We're looking forward to tomorrow. And that back then in two thousand and fifteen made seven hundred and six million so actually we are in a very different era. they all will but it's different at a very different way. Let's put it that way. Of course we're now in a hybrid sale situation and it was interesting. "Took to Twitter today to question the latest covert death numbers, saying the CDC numbers are not accurate. Almost Nick pompom talk with a Tacoma doctor, Dr Nathan slicker to get his reaction. But even as the president disagrees with these sentiments, US Surgeon General Jerome Adams said on CNN's state of the union that the death count is not inflated from the pulp. From a public health perspective. I have no reason to doubt those numbers. And neither does Dr Anthony Fauci, who told Martha Raddatz on ABC this week that we need to have faith in our public health system. The deaths are real deaths. I mean, all you need to do is to go out into the trend. Shoes go to the hospitals to see what the health care workers are dealing with. That's real. That's not fake. This disease is real. This pandemic is real. Let's get over this and get on with living. Not fighting about the number of cases. This is just silly. What's more shocking is when you look at some of the data, you can see that it took over 290 days for the country to reach 10 million cases of covert 19 but took less than 55 days to double that amount to 20 million cases in Washington, all but two regions of the state. Almost like problem has reaction from a local doctor, Dr. Nathan Schlichter says it was tough to see what the president tweeted. If any president spoke about 9 11 like Trump speaks about the covert victims. It would be a national embarrassment. He's referring to this tweet from President Trump that said the number of cases and deaths from covert 19 is exaggerated in the U. S. Because of the CDC is method of determination. This comes as the country has reached over 20 million cases of the virus and over 350,000 deaths or losing a 9 11 worth of people every day in this pandemic, Slicker says the current number of cases in our country is most likely an underestimation, not an exaggeration because the number of people getting tested. It is not probably reflective of the disease prevalence, he says. Even after 10 months of dealing with covert 19 contact tracing is still falling short. That's cool. Mose Nick Papa, I'm reporting now to the latest on the latest numbers across the U. S. More than 13 million doses have been distributed, and that includes the Fizer and Madonna vaccines here in Washington. It comes with distributing a vaccine and right now we're still in phase one A, which is only health care workers in those in long term care facilities, The state says. We'll know who's next in line this upcoming week. Saturday, Frontline health care workers at the life care Center in Puyallup were given their first covert 19 vaccine doses. Earlier this week. Female frogs prefer city slickers

"That's the mating call of the tone Gara frog used to attract a particularly gorgeous female nearby, scientists from the Smithsonian tropical research institute have been eavesdropping on male frogs looking for love in Panama city's urban streets and those living in the nearby. Tropical forests, it seems frogs from the city put on a sexier mating display than those in the wild Rachel page. Co-authored the study and told me more. So if you look at these urban frogs? They have much less pressure in terms of the predators and parasites that they're trying to avoid however, on the flip side there just aren't as many females need surfing here is so an urban calling frog has to do a lot more work to attract a female. So his calls tend to be much more attractive is how much higher call rate, and he puts a lot of these extra checks to his calls to make them complex in a check to females. So it looks like that combination increased sexual selection pressure. So having to work a lot harder to get a mate, plus this relaxed natural selection pressure. Not having nearly the number. Parasites and predators is really shaping those calls net calling behavior of us city. And what do they sound like the name of the frog? The common name is tour at frog and the name is actually for the call. So this call is pretty cool. It has to hearts one is this simple part of wine Nesbitt too. So. In males. When they're in risky situations with lots of predators around, for example. They'll just make simple that's when they really trying to check your nose. And you're not as worried about his approaching predators though, at independence to those calls making a complex version. So the full on call is. And they can add multiple shocks the Jackson the garden. So they can add. Up to seven shucks on the end. Why were you trying to find all of this out? There changes that are taking place all over the globe to urbanism, and we're wondering how animals react to these changes. We know that humans have a great number of changes as they move to urban environments. So we wanted to know if massive changes cons, but you're gonna station are actually resulting in changes in the animal behaviors as well. And we find that indeed. They are national changes in the way animals are interacting with each other. In human modified, landscapes such as cities, Rachel pages. Dulcet tones their new research

Are you ready for Red Dead Redemption 2? (The 3:59, Ep. 480)

"Welcome to the three fifty nine. I'm Ben FOX. And I'm out for dang. And with us today is all star video game reviewer, Jeff Backus Grammy. Guys, quick hurry, four minutes. Go I was gonna I was gonna keep doing the little known fact about Jeff middle name is also FOX. Okay. All right. It's seymour. We don't often talk about video games on the show. But we wanted to take a chance to discuss red dead redemption to which is gaining a lot of attention. So Jeff my first question is why why are people so interested in this game as out it is arguably the most is will sound like a cliche, but it is arguably the most ambitious game ever made come on. It is I may have heard that before. But you chance to explain before. But it turns out it's actually kind of true it is somehow able to create one of the most believable fictionalized world I've ever interacted with. And there is something about this game that it does better than any other game out there where it is chock filled with characters events environmental effects and things that convince you one hundred percent through and through that you are in this western world, and it makes Westworld look like city slickers. So what did you like about the game? And also would didn't you like about the game? There's really not a whole lot of didn't Mike I think for a lot of people they might not be expecting a gain that really takes its time. The way read did does some of it is a drag cowboy life in eighteen ninety nine turns out, not the most exciting thing in the world moment to moment. What I did. You know, love about this game is is how quickly it was able to grab me every there's nothing there's nothing cut and pasted in this game. Every experience is unique every mission every task every actively every objective is is almost this. Bespoke kind of like, you know, beautifully. Crafted meticulous thing that is an absolute marvel to experience it is unlike anything else I've ever played. Well, thanks very much for that. Very quick explanation of red dead redemption to next up if you. One the latest easy sneakers. These days you may need a but to help you out. Alfred you wrote about the world of sneaker head bots. Tell us a little bit about it. Yeah. So I spoke with the creator of one of the more popular sneaker bought out there. The body called cyber AI oh cost about two hundred pounds to get. And then they only one hundred copies of that pot every month, and then people will try to re buy if they miss out on the sale, though, try to buy that bought for about twenty seven hundred dollars sale market on the Botts. Yeah. Market for Botts to buy sneakers. And there's also to buy those Botts now because there's only one hundred copies of them people make bots to buy those spots. And you might be wondering why so many people pay thousands of dollars for for these Botts, even and the big reason is, you know, these sneakers are basically collectibles, like even though these easies Nicos on Saturday going to sell for two hundred dollars a very good chance that on the resale market or. For like eight hundred six hundred dollars or so, and that's just like these knickers. There are sneak like the mardi MC fly sneakers that came out a few years ago, those were on an EBay auction for like forty one thousand dollars because they are extremely rare. And there's a lot of rich people out there that like wanna collect these. So is the people that get these Botts are they more collectors or are they reseller? There's a good chance that they're most likely resellers because like they're basically investing in a tool to help them make more money. I don't think they'd spend that much money to just, you know, collect these knickers on their own, but it would be a healthy investment. I I would say if you're in the re-selling business. All right last Twitter reported a drop of nine million monthly users in its latest quarter. But it stock is way up. Thanks to the company hitting a sizeable profit wanted to pitch question. You guys is Twitter somehow benefiting from all Facebook's, misery. What do you guys think about that? Yeah. I don't think it's her. Hurting them. I mean, but the fact that they lost nine million users seems like a lot. Well, they've been killing off. Incidentally, a lot of bots. Also getting a lot of fake accounts getting out of there. So I think for social media they're getting a different game. Now of I think in the past it used to always be okay. What your daily monthly average user or anything like that? And you know, it was a racist. You could get the most users. But now, I think they're more focusing on engagement and like actual users. And that's why they're okay with killing off all these like bought accounts in the past. They were just there, and it kinda help them inflate their numbers a bit to investors. But now, I think it's much more important for them to say, hey, look, we have a clean and healthy platform. Do you think Jack Dorsey is actually set if identical twins? Why would is? Is that because he's he's actually miraculously running square and Twitter at the same time. It doesn't really feel like he's running Twitter though. I don't know just like a mascot. Yeah.
