"Is it good? Is it not good? Now we have the first big post launch drop for it. Is it good enough? No. No, I don't think so. I mean, it's one of those things where it's tough because they're hitting so many tears and so many different themes and then striking so many deals. I don't expect it to knock it out of the park every month. But, I mean, I think stray is the big get here, but again, I feel like we had and would have had that in the previous iterations of just PS plus, like the base PS plus. So that doesn't feel as exciting of a get in the context of giving me faith in the service. It just feels more like, oh, this is a good get for PlayStation. And they're offerings and it's kind of not totally out of love to you, 'cause I think they've done a pretty solid job, especially in the PS5 era of striking these I'm kind of establishing themselves as having strong indie deals through PS plus, at least on occasion. They're going to bring out a day and date thing and it's going to be kind of a little bit of a whatever one their flagship indie games is. So I think that's kind of par for the course. I'm still very exciting and definitely, I think the most among the most exciting things in there. I guess integrates also a good get, but you need the base game though to have that, right? No, you integrate it. It's the pace of the PS5 version of it. Okay. Cool. So that's another, that's another strong one. There's some strong stuff in here. But I don't think, I think especially as you start to move down and you know, we get to the paw patrols and the ice. And even though, I think spirit of the north too, I feel like that didn't like that well received. But I don't remember. I might be mixing it up with a different game. Loco roco is interesting because I love loco roco, but I don't, I don't know how midnight carnival affairs against the other loco roco games. But I'm gonna hit up logo roca midnight carnival. Like local roco is a fun IP. Let me know in the chat if this is like the whack local or something. Like downloadable title on the PSP, which cool, right? I forget also for California dot com slash journal other local locals are already on there because I forget already what PSP games are available. But my thing with those two, right? I'm not a person that really cares too much about local, even though I know there's not even there for it. And then also no heroes allowed is not one that blows me away. It's because you've played loco roco and you're like, I don't want to look a Rocco or is it because you just saw Luca roco and you were like, fuck this circle? Like, what's up with the girl? And here's the thing. Have you tried it though? Or you saw it in your stuff for me. I saw it is not for me. Oh, it's so fun. Why do you hate fun? This is way it's weird from the pet upon. Is it better than pat upon? Oh. And I was like, oh my God. I'm going to throw this out there. And I kind of told Greg this, but I kind of slipped it under the radar. I buried the lead there. I did not enjoy my time with pat upon, not because it's a bad game, but it was just too intense. I felt like I was practicing the piano playing it. I was like, this is the, I didn't have fun doing that, but no, local roco is a totally different thing. I mean, the only similarity to pat upon is that it's another indie game that's liked. But yeah, it's like a game where you play as a little circle. And you absorb stuff and you can become bigger and smaller and fit through. It's kind of like a light. It's a very light. I mean, it has the element in terms of the absorption and the shrinking, but it's not like you're just constantly gathering more. It's like a little bit of a light platformer. It's very cute. It's like a great gift. It's a little guy. It's fun. Okay. In that case, I won't write off loco roco. I'm not saying I'm going to give it a chance by any means, but I won't run it. You should. Let me know if that's a good entry point. I've only played logo roco too. Also, we do have a PSP. No, you don't right. You only have to meet up. Yeah, but wait, a PSP game. Well, I have a copy of loco roco two on the page. So I was going to give you my other logo too, but anyway, what do you think of this? Well, here's the thing, right? I look at those PSP games and even though now that I've done blow me away, I do like the fact that they're adding in additional places plus premium games. I was one of my big questions of are you going to experience this catalog? Because as it stands now, the premium catalog not that great in my opinion. I like the extra catalog. I think the extra catalog is where this new version of PlayStation plus really stands strong. But when it comes to the premium stuff, it does feel like slim pickings, especially for the PSP titles, you have two copies of loco roco two. Yeah, I have two copies of loco roco, too, because get this, I forgot I bought one of them. I thought I had loco roco. So when I saw like a roco two and the game store, I'm like, great, I love logo. And then I got home and I was like, oh, I've been playing loco roco to this whole time. So that's really cool. Now I just have two copies of local too, so there you go. That's excessive, but I also love it. But yeah, an accident. It's very cheap game. Oh, okay, well, that's good price. This gives me hope that they're going to continue to add more premium titles. And it makes me believe the idea that they could add more add in more PS two titles and more PS3 and PS1 stuff, right? Like I look at on Twitter, the homie Nigel tweeted out this news, but then below it, he mentioned that for some reason, the Italy PlayStation plus premium subscribers get access to dino crisis, soulcalibur, broken destiny, and ridge racer two. And he treated the screenshot of their PlayStation PlayStation blog post. And then he responds under it and says, update the Italian PlayStation blog has been changed, no more dino crisis, RRT, or soulcalibur, which those were included in there for some reason. You know, I wouldn't be doubtful if that was a, oh, shoot, no, these are actually for the next month. These weren't supposed to be included in this blog post. But that does give me that does put me in the mind state of, okay, cool. They're really thinking about how to expand this expand this library beyond what it is. And I think that's exciting in the way that if on a given month, they are like, hey, on PS two, we're putting in Kingdom Hearts. So we're putting in blocky spiral of the dragon or we're putting in these classic games that you still want and expect from the platform, right? Metal gear, solid, the original maybe final page 7 the original, like those types of titles, I think that could be really promising for the service. And so I think for the premium, that's at least there. And for extra, I do think this is a pretty good drop. I think it's huge. And you mentioned that on any other given month, that probably would have been a PlayStation plus essential inclusion. That said, this month for a PlayStation plus essential, we did get arcade again, which is a new title for it, as well as I believe crash four was this month. And then madan was in there as well. Like, that's a pretty good PlayStation plus month to then also get stray in extra, and then also games like marvel's Avengers to Greg Miller's out there. And Final Fantasy 7 remake integrated, which I think is huge. And I think aside from straight, that's probably the biggest included in this month, four places plus extra. And with that, you know, it's great. Again, all those statuses create games, same through all being in there, and then the handful of games that feel like we're just going to throw these in, that Jumanji is an ice ages of the world. You know, I think those are to be expected, but for the bigger games that are in there, I think it's a pretty good selection. Do you think that would you be satisfied with this pedigree going forward? Does it need to be better? Do you expect it to slip dip down? Now that we kind of have the base line of what we might be getting here, if I said this is the rest of our year, like this kind of level of stuff, like what are your feelings? Where are you at? That's a really good question.

"30 day trial. All right, so let's get back to the journal. Beyond the first two sections of the statistics and win rates tracker and the after action review, the rest of the journal contains study notes and I already have this broken down into 8 different sections. Those 8 sections are poker Ford study notes, poker books, studying poker, pre flop strategy notes, post flop strategy notes, statistics notes, tournament strategy notes, and then poker, software notes. And what I did already have the document laid out for you that each section contains a lot of subtopics already so that you can take notes and organize your studies. So for example, the pre flop strategy notes heading or section has subheadings for a pre flop ranges, assigning pre flop ranges player types, table selection bread and butter, loose aggressive players, positions open raising pre flop three bedding pre flop calling pre flop, facing three beds pre flop, deep stacked poker, small pocket pairs exploiting lepers blind versus mind play online play versus live play, anonymous online poker and earning profits. So those aren't, it's not a full 100% list of everything you can study within pre flop strategy, right? But this list will help you study the most important things. And speaking of helping you study with each of these hubs sub headings, right? Like for example, bread and butter poker. I give you a link to a smart poker study podcast or a YouTube video that's gonna help you study that item. "Learn later. Here's what you need to do. Go to the show notes page right now, smart poker study dot com slash journal. The top of the page fill out the box so you can receive via email the free poker journal download it and after you download it open it up, of course. Now, do a simple study session on any strategy of your choice, maybe it's three bit bluffing. See betting on monotone boards, facing a check raise. Whatever it is, I don't care, but as you're studying, take notes within the appropriate section of the journal. Then come back to this episode and listen to how I use this journal to turn myself into the player I want to be. Now stop the podcast. Take action to begin your education, then return to learn more about this smart strategy. So for years, I struggled with improving my game. And a big, I'll be honest, a big part of that struggle was I just wasn't tracking my results. Nor was I taking notes on the things I was studying, right? Zero notes. They were nonexistent. I would just end up watching a YouTube video watching a video to training site or something. And I would hope that those strategies I was learning, hoping that they would sink in, right? I'd read an entire book in like 5 or 6 days. Maybe I'd whip out a highlighter and highlight a few lines, maybe put a little post it note on a couple of important pages. But truly, I wasn't taking notes in any systematic, smart way. So I really doubt that out of the first few books I read I doubt that any of that really made it into my game. So it took quite a while but it finally realized that I had to keep track of all this stuff I was studying. Systematically like realized not realized, but systematically tracked the topics I was studying so I can go from topic to topic and a sensible order. Take notes, revisit my notes in the future, start recording my stats and win rates, right? So I decided to create my own poker journal. Now, this is nothing revolutionary, right? It's just a Microsoft Word document, but with the way that I use it. I'm able to improve my game much more efficiently than without that document. So if you haven't already gone to the show to its page downloaded it, I highly recommend you do that right now. Smart poker study dot com slash journal. Do that download it, open it up and take a look as you listen to the rest of this podcast. So if you're looking at the poker journal right now, you'll see the very first section is called statistics and win rates tracker. Measuring your stats and win rates and then analyzing those numbers, not just putting them down on paper like this. But analyzing how they change over time, that's going to reveal your areas of weakness. And because you can only improve what you measure, this sections at the top of the journal, it's the most important step. Well, not most important. It's a start of all of your studies because as you work to improve your skills, the results can be seen in your statistics and win rates, right? If you're studying and if you're playing effectively, you're going to see your stats and win rates improve. Of course, win rates will go up and maybe turn from red and negative numbers to black positive, right? Or your statistics will become more in line with what you envision what you want them to be. And if they aren't improving, those stats and win rates, you aren't improving, and that means you have more work to do, right? So for myself, I review my statistics in win rates every 2000 hands or so. Because I want to know how I'm currently playing. When I write down or measure those statistics, it's like I'm looking at another player's hud, so I'm looking for weaknesses. Oh, that seabed is at 70% it drops to 45 on the turn. That's a super easy exploit to use against me. Or maybe I three bet only ever for value out of the MP, so it's like 3.1% of the time. But out of the button in the small blind, maybe I'm three betting 6, 7, 8% of the time. Wow, this guy, me, bluffs in these positions, but he's super value oriented here. By. Recognizing how my opponents can exploit me. That's gonna give me a direction of study. Now below the stats section is a win rates section. And let me tell you, I love and I hate seeing my win rates, right? I love it when things are going great. Everything's in the black, they're on the up and up, my all of my aggressive plays, like betting and raising. It's positive numbers. They're in the black. All my passive plays of calling? Those are positive, too, that's always great to see. But I absolutely hate it when I see a ton of red. And that's normally with a passive plays like calling pre flop calling a three bet calling seabed stuff like that. And by tracking this over 2000 hands, I can see where I'm currently losing money, and that gives me a direction of study as well. Now the next section of the journal, it's called the after action review. Now, according to Wikipedia, and after action review is a structured review or a D brief process for analyzing what happened why it happened and how it can be done better by those involved. So I use this part of the journal after a particularly bad session, especially when like anger and tilt occurred and they result in even greater loss. I use this section to help me dissect the reasons behind my bad play, my negative emotions, my bad session. Now, there are 7 questions here that help dissect my session. And I'm gonna tell you what they are on the podcast, but on the show notes page I'm not gonna listen because I want you to download that journal, right? But here it is. Question one, what did you do for a warmup? Question two. What strategy focus did you have? Question three. What mistakes did you make and or what went wrong? Question four. What situations confused you and why? Question 5, how bad was my tilt and why did it occur? And question 6, what skills or strategies are you lacking and how will you learn these? Oh, and question 7, what must you do to improve your performance next session? So what I do within this particular after action review portion of the journal, I'll create a new journal entry with today's date. Then I'll answer those questions and sometimes this illuminates issues like, oh, I didn't warm up, no wonder I wasn't playing, well, or I didn't even have a strategy focus, or maybe I was what is it distracted by YouTube or email at the time? Or maybe I allowed like outside issues, problems in life to affect my in game mental state. Now I used to call this section of my journal, it was a generic name called play sessions, right? But while I was listening to David goggins book, his audiobook can't hurt me on audible. I learned what and after action review is. So it felt perfect for this portion of the journal. So I renamed the journal this, or I rename that section to after action review. Now, I finished can't hurt me just yesterday and I really enjoyed the book and I think for those who are striving to get more out of life who enjoy hard work who love pushing themselves. This is the book for you. Originally, I thought this audiobook can't hurt me. It was narrated by David goggins himself the entire weight, the author of the book, but it wasn't. It was him and partially another guy named Adam scolnik. And they did a good job in the book, but, you know, I generally like it when audiobooks have the writer or the author of the book narrating it fully. But I still found it enjoyable. So if this book can't hurt me by David goggins sounds good to you or all of my own books, how to study poker volume one and two pre hop online poker post swap online poker, they're all available as audiobooks at audible trial dot com slash smart poker study. Briscoe family home there on the banks of the brazos where june peter wake up to an unexpected phone call announcing the arrival of their estranged son march. Peter invites march to lunch while june stews over the news. They haven't seen their youngest son in over two years but june isn't sure she's had enough time to forgive him for what he's done. Whereabout the find out why her son's actions are so hard to forgive. We quickly learn march with caught sleeping with his brother's wife and he skipped town back when word leaked out two years later pretty much. Everyone still hates march. And now he's back in town his volatile temper although the volatile is putting it lightly is evident as ever given the unpredictability of his behavior and his ill-fated affair marches. Presence feels to olympus citizens like a ticking time bomb. Everyone knows it's gonna blow. They just don't know when or who it's going to hurt this time. As marjorie encounters is siblings and the townspeople mixed up in their family business. we learned. there's more to june's anger than a righteous concern for her wrong son infidelity. Her husband peter's extramarital affairs have not only cut strife in the couple's marriage they've also produced children who remain in their lives. Some of whom june has mothered and cared for. But that doesn't mean she's forgiven or forgotten. It was easy for me to get caught up in this family story. And as i did. I noted more and more clever references to greek mythology. The first instance is the epigraph from of it. The roman poet it reads but then is everyone not his own. God there on page one. In in the early chapters. I would have deemed that a reference to the huge egos of the briscoe men but as i read and the clues began to pile up. I began to suspect something else was going on. It couldn't be a coincidence. That marches dogs are named romulus and remus that the local watering hole is called turps. Corey's that another set of twins bear names in stories awfully similar to those artists and apollo. I thought to look up. Olympus texas on a map to see if it really is located where swan put it in her book twenty miles east of houston and i found. It's not a real place or that is it's not a real texas town but then i realized in another sense. It is a very real place in the pages of greek mythology. And i could see what's.

When you're ready to graduate from quickbooks to a one of a kind financing program visit net sweet dot com slash journal admittedly is a new yorker. I haven't owned a car in more than a decade so. I'm not super familiar with these. Advanced driver assisted systems. What kind of features are we talking about. you know. i grew up in new york as well. So i feel you there. That's our colleague. Rebecca elliott she writes about tesla end. The world of advanced car technologies the features that we're talking about range from essentially fancy cruise control. That helps the vehicle not only move along the highway at a consistent pace but also slowdown or speedup to to match their traffic also features that help a driver steer and stay in a lane driving down a highway. That kind of thing. Is this sort of what people mean by self driving cars or is this just like a step on the way to self driving cars so these cars are not fully autonomous. These features are part of what people describe as driver assistance systems. So that means. The driver is expected to maintain full control of vehicle and be behind the wheel. Ready to take over. The features are just designed to help make driving easier. And ideally safer. Tesla has been a leader in assisted driving technologies which it calls autopilot. It relies on cameras and other sensors to navigate and determine when something or someone is in front of the vehicle and with that information. Tesla's cars can decide when to stop slowdown or even steer but the technology isn't perfect. Stationary objects can be difficult for automated systems in a way that they really aren't for human radar for example can have trouble distinguishing between stationary objects. That you need to stop for and stationary objects like an overpass. Or maybe debris in the road. That's pretty small that you don't need to stop for one type of situation. These features appear to struggle with a roadside emergencies like if police car unexpectedly pulled over or an ambulance partially blocking a lane. If autopilot doesn't react appropriately drivers really need to pay attention so they can jump in and take over and sometimes these systems don't which is drawn the interest of the national highway traffic safety administration or nitsa on monday. The agency announced that it's open. Investigation into tesla autopilot. After a series of crashes involving stopped emergency vehicles so an example of the crashes that auto safety regulators are looking into is an incident in march in michigan. The driver of a tesla model y had autopilot engaged before hitting a police vehicle. That had stopped along a highway to investigate a separate crash. And that's based on information from michigan state police as well as nuts dot and other crashes have left people wondering why are kessler vehicles running into stationary objects on highway. That you know. In this instance and others had flashing lights mitzvah has identified eleven crashes since two thousand eighteen involving roadside emergencies most crashes happened after dark and involve things like road cones. Flares are flashing lights. Nitsa is wondering if these crashes indicated defect with tesla autopilot technology. How big of a deal is this investigation. It's hard to say. These types of investigations can ultimately lead to recall so typically they take quite a long period of time to play out. The important thing to keep in mind at this point is just. It's the fact that the agency has opened up. This investigation is just an indication that they're paying more attention to this area. It has not been Tightly regulated in the us so far tesla didn't respond to a request for comment about the investigation. But rebecca says the company does warn drivers to pay attention while using its driver. Assistance system hassle is explicit. You know in its owners manuals and on its website at says. Drivers need to be ready to take over should keep their hands on the wheel etc but what happens when drivers don't when they willfully test the limits of.

I've noticed here in my own community in kentucky i shop at two different kroger's located a few miles apart from each other and the difference between the two stores is market the northern california stores brazil visited. Then sit in one of the richest lands for produce and that fresh produce overflowed in her own. Mark it down the road but the black grocery store and its offerings were abysmal. She was enraged and rightfully so that pitiful produce is the end of the line but food injustices go way back up it. Bazil lays out the numbers shares reasons. Why in the book including the striking fact that it's estimated. The black farmers cultivate less than half of one percent of the country's farmlands today. Brazil wants to share the stories of those remaining farmers and how they are striving to change the future for black farmers in america through the stories of these farmers who call themselves. Let's really talk about putting the work in less really talk about visualizing your goal and yet that was basketball was great but that was that was easy and let. Let's do this now. And then i had to build back up from where i was. As far as interest are concerned. I have to ask myself. What do i love doing. What do i do you know. And and i had to eventually get to the point where we are now and i still have way more to do. I'm just not getting to the point. Now where is like okay. I know it practices. Let's get the practicing you know and I'm so fortunate to have a book and be an author and all those things but at process to three years. And you know now the best done. There's a next evolution. Hopefully there's always more to be done. So i always I found myself having that challenge of figuring out how to live. And that's a challenge. I think we all kind of kind of can really really agree that we all have. You have to find a way. Chris i want to say thank you for sharing our say. Thank you for your time. I felt like i could sit with you for hours and keep learning so we can do this all day. Yeah so. I want to say thank you and i don't think i have clarity. I know you do imagery. Sounds like you use your mind to create images that are compelling to you and it sounds like you've got goals and you've got a process that you write some stuff down. Do you journal do you date yet. Dj meditate so. That's kind of a book happened. Started for me journaling. Every day. we'll start was handwritten. I've kinda pretty much moved into wayne. I loved. I loved drawn to reconnected immensely back with that on since i haven't played any more. So i have like a sketchbook slash journal slash calendar things. It's something that i can ride on with no lines. That's pretty much like a goodwill house for me. Keep that everywhere. And you know i i do meditate. I know that's like a huge term and it varies from person to person. I always start off my mornings The first thirty minutes. I give me a coffee. I sit down on my seat outside. Probably right outside my office or my garage. And i just sit there and think about my day when i'm going to do today my schedule when i'm going to go over and just have mona piece and i try. I try to get to it again in the evening but yeah i do. I do. Try to take that moment of just not doing anything. A lot of people. Don't think you have to sit there like them. Which finger do i hit. I'm not too much like that. I just. I'll be the old guy in the rocking chair. Hopefully on the porch there. You know what i mean. That'll be my meditation app. Roy okay. I mean i'm wishing you all the success. I wish there was a a project or something fun. We could do I'm going to route from sidelines and draw people to bosh dot com for your book. And and hopefully you're doing keynotes. You're sharing your pearls of wisdom you know inside of organizations and in folks that You don't want to understand transformation. They wanna understand the practices of becoming ones best and so absolutely. Yeah okay chris. Is there anything you know that you want to make sure that we tap into that I just your genius is on full display. And so i wanna make sure that we justice knows we'll add. That music is a form of meditation. I feel as well and give me in this state very very much so But yeah i mean just finding those things and you know. I love the fact that people wanna get better. I love the fact that people wanna get the best out of themselves. One of the things that i would entice people to do is not studied to mysterious as part of it would get out there and do it. Let's act on this kind of the mold. And i mean right now i when you learn that now is apply it. Use it if you're a beginner in your painter or sculptor make sure you're not going to be picasso or davinci right away but if you stay at his you'll be the best form of yourself and nothing comes without going through that beginning phase. I've learned to embrace. I've learned to accept it. The frustration the like this like man and i might be raining is so interesting. I'll ask people. They might see a drying or something. I do this hour. You can help you encourage people you can draw to. The first thing everybody says is no i cannot i said okay. Don't say that y'all draw a circle. Okay you can draw you know. Draw a house with you in front of it. What happened to the stick figures with the house. Man we get we all start from somewhere but you know i. I went entice people to to put it in an action. Let's get started Do it and you know refine work as you go along with. Always believe hold that visualization your head of what you want what you want to create and the person that you want to be you keep working toward that everyday day fall in love with the work. You're doing i think You know that could help. Helped tremendously with people. And i'm talking to myself when i'm telling you guys decide. I always say things that. I didn't think i was interested in reading about when they can reveal the hint fascination of a topic. I don't have any reason to want to know about like barefoot running through the mexican deserts or how researchers measure the world's tallest trees or jellyfish or. And you may recognize these topics from this year's summer reading guide trump louis painting or treasure hunting or bird-watching. I didn't think i was particularly interested in any of these topics until i picked up a book and the author revealed the hidden fascination of their chosen subject. I have a long history of being surprised and delighted with these unexpected forays into niche nonfiction. I know many of you have experienced the thrill of discovering such a book when that you immediately gush about cheerleading friends saying i had no idea i wanted to read about this subject but let me tell you about this book. I loved. I want to tell you about a book. I loved one. That despite being vaguely genre i know i enjoy reading vastly exceeded my expectations. That's because this book is not about an obscure wonder of the world or an unexamined bit of history. But about something. With which. I thought i was all too familiar. It turns out. I didn't know what nearly as much as i thought i did. The book laundry love finding joy in a common chore by patrick richardson with karen. B miller showed me what i was missing while turning this mundane household chore into fascinating. Tell your friends all about reading and equipping me to handle my laundry like a pro and it is one great book readers. If you're looking for a way to keep track of your great books. That's modern mrs darcy dot com slash journal. I have a long history of reading about domesticity as a small child. I would often pull my mom's alexandra. Stoddard designed books off bookshelf. Verb rainy-day reading all these years later. I distinctly remember her preference for sky-blue ceilings and open windows as ways of bringing the outdoors in and then as an adult i fell down the housekeeping or rather reading about housekeeping rabbit hole when a friend turned me onto home comforts by cheryl mendelson. My friend was shocked to learn. I hadn't heard of it. But i quickly fixed that and was hooked from mendelssohn opening line. I am a working woman with a secret life. I keep house. I find reading about home. Care to be supremely comforting. It feels like escapist reading if you're looking to escape into a tidy orderly kind of world while it offers a nice dose of practicality sometimes even instant gratification because if you're reading these books at home you can often begin. Implementing tips and tricks. You pick up immediately last fall. I i heard about a book in the works called laundry love and discovered to my very great surprise it was being published by flat iron. A division of macmillan. That doesn't usually publish this kind of book. I enthusiastically got my copy and took it with me on a family camping trip. When i started reading i had just finished a tense. Domestic suspense and reading about textile care was so soothing in comparison. But no less absorbing believe it or not. I sat around the fire that night with the book in hand smiling and chuckling richardson stories. Trying to explain to my family. Why reading about laundry was so entertaining. Richardson calls himself the laundry evangelist and his promises that he can. At least make you fall in like with laundry. And i have to say. I found his cheerful enthusiasm contagious. It's obvious from the beginning that he knows what he's talking about and from a book like this. I expected no less than expert advice. But what. I didn't expect from this domestic how to was so much story. The narrative that drives richardson's book comes from a variety of unexpected sources. There's so much drama bound up with laundry who knew. Richardson can't talk about his favorite subject without discussing his kentucky ancestry or the family barbecue sauce legacy or the time he was called to the church to save a bride's wedding gown just minutes before she walked down the aisle after an affectionate toddler had given her a big.

"Before we go. I would love to hear from you at just four things. You're grateful for. We practice gratitude a lot. Although we we we acknowledge like the hard stuff too. It's kind of one of those things we've had to be really clear about especially with a lot of like toxic positively and we have a whole movement that started after my mom passed away. That is all around joy. She wanted to spread joy to others. First of all she talks to everybody at the hospital. Even people on the elevator that she didn't know she would try to compliment them in some way because sometimes people would be there alone. Getting their chemo treatments. She just wanted to make them feel good and she felt like she had support so she wanted to spread joy to others and then she wanted to choose joy for herself. But what. I have to remind people to even though a big moment from that grew on our our nationally syndicated. Show the bobby bones show. It's called pimp and joy. We have a whole line clothing but like my mom definitely had awful days and we experienced those and she'd never would wanna fool people into thinking it's like okay. I'm battling cancer tuesday but we also in the on the gratitude front for me. At least what. I find is even in some of my darkest times this year. I still do have things in my life. That i can be thankful for big or small so i'd love to hear four things from you that you're currently thankful for today. I love how you expanded that because we so often think that gratitude is an antidote for pain. If you say you're feeling sad but he's like well you need to find something to be grateful for as though grief and gratitude. Cancel each other out. They don't right. So i think about gratitude as a companion to whatever right But we're closing up. So i'm just going to go with my with four things that i'm grateful for rather than my entire rants gratitude. I'm gonna start with my friends the skill with which they support me and know me. I don't tend to reach out when i'm having a hard day. And they know it. So they know when my days are and they're proactive about offering support which is amazing. 'cause that's a good skill. I am feeling thankful that the air is clear right now. I have anxiety around fire seasons. I'm going to be grateful that the air is currently clear and breathable and beautiful. I am grateful for my dog. Who is the best dog in the whole world. She has home sleeping right now. She hates it when i leave. But she's fine What else my grateful for. I am grateful to be in. The studio. Radio was a was a big part of my childhood so i am just really grateful and happy to be sitting near a soundboard. Oh what part of your childhood. My dad was was general manager of an mpr station in buffalo for most of my early childhood. So i grew up in a i. Don't even remember now but whatever the buffalo. Npr affiliate is. That was where. I had birthday parties. My birthday coincides with fall. Pledge drives so most of my birthday parties were on air for pulpwood tribes and then in my teenage years. My dad's started buying radio stations and sort of rehabbing them and getting them popular again so my first jobs were cleaning. Radio station. Bathrooms and then Recording ads and doing some weather spots when i was a teenager show. Will you have a very soothing. Radio voice thank you yeah. I'm not sure if that's nature or nurture but yeah retail loves the audio version of the of. It's okay. I actually get the get the best van mail anyway but a lot of people have said that you know. After their partner died that my voice on that book is the only other voice in the house. Like what a powerful thing that is to receive and to hear. You know that a lot of people are like you know. I've been living with my partner. My husband for forty five years and he died and the house is so quiet and now. Your voice is the other sound in the house. That's that's magic that's awesome and again that book is. It's okay that you're not okay. Meeting grief and loss in a society. That doesn't understand. And then your latest is the book slash journal and it's how to carry what can't be fixed. So y'all be linking both of those in my amazon page. They're easy for people to find and it sounds like you've got the audible version can be offered the first one the first one for. It's okay that one is Audible and e book and print. Canned journal is currently only in print. Yeah okay awesome. Well thank you so much again for your time I know that this episode is going to be so helpful for so many and that was for me for sure. So i speaking of getting mail like. I'm gonna get emails about this. So thank you so much for taking the time. And i don't know if all talk to you ever again soon but maybe you'll have to have you on since now. You're you're my first official grief expert. That's come on the show. Besides a therapist friend that comes on but she doesn't specialize in grief. So i'm very very thankful for you. I'm glad to be here. So have you ever found yourself doubling or maybe.

"One of a kind financing program visit net sweet dot com slash journal a lot of the buildings along the miami coastline. Look the same and one reason why is. Many of them were built during the same construction boom. Just a huge chunk of the cosstalk at florida was seventies in the eighties. And it's really driven by this sort of new idea of retirement of this low maintenance lifestyle and florida becomes an ideal place for that because it is on the beach. Climate and the winter is quite nice in that condo. Boom a certain kind of construction became popular concrete buildings these sorts of concrete buildings or super cheap to build. And you get sort of what we heard from engineers and developers who worked there the early days. There was this kind of wild west culture there it made for this perfect mix of ingredients for a lot of buildings to go up really quickly these concrete condos may have been cheap to build an attractive to buyers but they come with a hidden cost concrete. Especially when it's by. The ocean needs a lot of maintenance concrete. Construction can be really solid. It can stand for decades but it needs to be waterproof to be waterproof carefully during construction and it needs to be waterproof repeatedly over the years really. Water is the enemy water leaches in and water especially dexter. The ocean water is a kind of constant threat. What happens is the water starts to get into the concrete. The concrete expands the concrete begins to crack on potentially steal that runs up through the concrete. That helps kind of support. It that begins to also erode And so you can end up with a berry. Kind of uniquely. Bad florida problem. And that's become a problem for a few reasons. I there's not a lot of government oversight in miami dade county like many places around the country. Government officials inspect buildings before they're occupied and the next required city inspection in miami dade is forty years later in the interim the upkeep falls on the condo board now the condo board is a legal entity usually members are elected by residents there unpaid. And they're responsible for maintaining the building anything from minor jobs like painting the lobby to major jobs like fixing structural issues. Those major projects can come with big price tags and residents are the ones who have to pay for it. It's often very hard to get a majority vote of people who medications or retirees on fixed income. Who look at this and say. Are you really kind of asking me to eat into this pot of money that i need to live on recording engineer in the story. Saying here's very often. Let my grandchildren take care of this. Let them deal with this. I think sometimes people look at champlain tower south and think how sort of dysfunctional on how irresponsible where these people that. They had always problems with their building. Why didn't they do something about it. And you kind of try to have some understanding of what that is like to spend that amount of money without a lot of warning or not expecting it. And i think trying to have those conversations with your neighbors is utterly thankless..

That's about when they realized they needed some of those people come back just to handle the influx of calls that they were getting so not only are people calling more. They're asking more complicated questions that take more time to resolve. you know. In some cases people are trying to use travel credits from trips. They may have cancelled last year and need help. Using those and airlines in many cases do not have the reservation staffed to handle that you know even asking retirees like recent retirees. If they might be willing to come work of summer really. Yeah so you know. A bunch of folks took retirement last summer. And maybe thought they were done working in the airline world and now you know. Their expertise is needed but for pilots. It's not as simple as just calling someone back to work to get back in the air. They needed retraining. All airlines including american are having to undertake this massive effort to retrain pilot so they can get back in their seats and be ready to fly again They have to go through simulator training and a lot of cases and cycling. All those people through their training programs is time consuming and they're not all back yet and it's not just about retraining pilots and calling back customer service staff other airport workers around the airport ecosystem. A lot of people left or were lecco. A lot of the people making airports run smoothly tend to be lower wage workers. They don't work for companies like american airlines instead. They're contractors with other smaller companies. I'd say the biggest labor crunches that you know that we've been hearing about are not at the airlines themselves but at the airports the people who work in the restaurants and the stores that passengers shop at an at before they board a plane. They're having extremely hard. Time bringing people back for a lot of reasons in this moment where the industry is scrambling to get people into jobs. Critics have pointed out that the airlines received billions government funding to keep air travel going and should theoretically have avoided this very situation but the air travel industry is now having to contend with a labor shortage. That's happening around the country. We're seeing reports of airport vendors. Participating in job fairs and trying to attract workers and i talked to a company that provides staff a lot of different things including wheelchair pushers and. I'm not shocked that it's going slowly hiring all those people you know pushing wheelchairs around in the airport firm minimum wage. Tips is a tough job especially now that people seem to have so many options like yeah. I can understand why you wouldn't want to work in the airport if he could work somewhere else. This also means there aren't enough people doing the behind the scenes jobs the people who fill the airplanes with jet fuel or deliver meals to the planes and without enough people working these jobs the entire system slows down american told me that's for them particularly cute in dallas. There'd been hub one of the companies that supplies they're catering is having a shortage of truck drivers with a commercial driver's license. You drive around and deliver food to all the planes so that means they might have to wait a lot longer on the ground to gets the meals and the snacks and beverages that they need to have on board on top of simply finding people in additional hurdle is everyone who works in. An airport has to have security clearance. Tsa is also backed up Doing these background checks. So.

"slash journal" Discussed on In the Classroom
"A few minutes talking about scheduling tutoring sessions and really extending the conversation of the explanation that we talked about it in a prior video where i talked about how to go about scheduling a tutoring session as well as a journal. Entry for those of you are taking thesis seminar just as a reminder if you scroll down from the main page with the notion you'll see a section dedicated how to go about scheduling your tutoring session. And if you haven't already please check out the video where i talk specifically how to go about doing that. I want to draw your attention here to the section. That's called roster and tutoring session calendar and today i want to talk about how i'm going go about taking the information that you upload in notion and how i'm going to move that into microsoft three sixty five teams just as a reminder. We have a link. Here called tutoring sessions. If you click here this will take you to calendar that will show all of the tutoring sessions that are scheduled so just as a reminder. We're going to be using. The template called tutoring session slash journal entry remember. There's one template for both both activities. We're using the same chocolate to schedule. The tutoring session as well as scheduling the journal entries damning to talk specifically about the tutoring sessions. Only the remember when you were scheduling your tutoring session. You want to go ahead and up. The template began by writing out your name. I would write both your first and last name since you share the same first name just to avoid any uson and because this is a tutoring session we need to also make sure that we indicate an end date and include time since we're going to be scheduling in thirty minute increments. So let's say that. I want to schedule again for. Let's say a tutoring session on the eighteenth. Though i'm going to begin here by entering the information and let's say i want to schedule it for. Let's say two. Pm to thirty em alright and aid to make sure we select the same a here all right so here. We have our start date of january eighteenth from two. pm to two thirty pm. I have the date range that appears here. Remember to include your name if you click on this empty field. They'll be a list of all of you the whole roster list will appear so you can simply select your name. They're also remember that. We need to select tutoring session. So once we've done that you want to go ahead and complete the template as we've discussed before and you'll notice here that the last entry. That just uploaded appears here now before the video i also included two more just as a test just as give you an example. This is how it's going to look in notion once you've added your name you'll see a list of your classmates as well and you'll see the beginning time of each of the sessions. You can assume that they're going to be thirty minute sessions again. This should list chronologically by day and you can see at a glance with days and what hours are available based on our schedule that set up for our class. Now i want to show you what it looks like or what. It's going to look like in microsoft teams. Now you'll notice here under post each time that i schedule. A meeting within microsoft teams also host. That a new session or a new online meeting has been scheduled. This can be a little bit confusing as you see here. We've got several sessions that have been scheduled. And what i'm gonna do is. I'm gonna take the schedule from notion that we just looked at bring that up again. I'm going to take this information here. And i'm going to based on this schedule. Create individual online meetings for each one of you all right for your sessions. So this is where you're going. You're going to come into the session within microsoft teams based on the online meetings. That i schedule here in this calendar so my suggestion would be to use the calendar feature in microsoft teams in order to find your session right based on the information that you uploaded here notion and enter into the session from the calendar right so if we go to and at the time of this recording. It's actually a couple of weeks before the first day of class so let me advanced forward a couple of weeks. This is the schedule that we're gonna have for our isa's seminar course throughout the semester. So i'm going ask that you try to schedule your sessions within these a lot of times monday through friday based again on this schedule each day's slightly different monday and wednesday. I think has the same schedule from eight in the morning to twelve. But you'll notice tuesday. There's a session from eight to nine and another one from eleven to twelve on thursday from eight to eleven and friday from eight to ten. So we're going to try to stick to the schedule. I'm going to have other obligations the rest of the time throughout the week so we need to stick to the schedule whenever you're scheduling your thirty minute sessions so imagine that all of you have scheduled your online tutoring sessions all right. Let's say that it's the second week of class then. We're going to see times. We're going to see actually individual sessions based on your name through week to week. And this is the calendar that i'm going to follow and what i'm gonna use to get into our online meetings and you can do the same so this i think is a little bit easier to follow this calendar view when compared to the posts can be a little bit difficult to follow again when we have so many individual sessions being schedule. Now this post this post view is important because all of the comments that we make within each of the teams as you're aware of or also again appear here so i think this serves a purpose especially if we're leaving chat messages with each other either before the session or during the session or even per perhaps after the session as corresponds to what we talked about. I think it's going to be easier to go into the calendar view and find your session and go in an inner join the session from the calendar view..
