"That's good. Oh, they play the casting. Do they play the Viking? No, that's week two. They play two. This is really good content. Keep this in people don't listen. It's fine. We're just talking. Um, dolphins charges week one, I think is a very, I think people because of all the attention around the jets and the bills, the dolphins are not getting sort of the credit I think they deserve here. No credit. And they were a playoff team last year and had Skyler Thompson in a playoff game and nearly beat Buffalo. They're good. They added Vic Fangio. They're really good. Are they good enough to make the playoffs? Well, it all depends on that quarterback and if you're a believer or not. Yeah. And the charges always have a lot of pressure on them. We had the question today. You tell me like chargers have Kellen Moore. They've got an amazing wide receivers. It's very easy to say, Oh, the charters are gonna be great. They don't ever, ever fulfill those January expectations they lost last year. Is it okay to get on board with the chargers or is there like some scar tissue that you're hesitant to quote a great line from succession and Brian Cox, serious people, the coach is not a serious person. So I love him. I know him obviously. I'm not, you know, I'm not talking about personally, but the coach is not a serious person when he's going for it on like fourth and 30 from his, you know, 20, although that makes no sense mathematically. Um, all right, tell me now you've had a little off season here. What are we watching? What have we dipped into? What do we want to recommend to the people? Cause you're as good with the pop culture stuff as anybody. What should people go? Non football, non, you know, don't pump up the NFL network. What should people go watch? What should people go watch? All right. Did you do the bear? Yes, I know. Season two, I'm not finished. I love season one. I think I've watched two episodes so far. So two, I liked the bear. Binged it this summer. Delightful. Delightful. I wouldn't know. I don't know if delightful is the word to describe it. Delightful in that I'm satisfied in a way that I'm satisfied with succession where I'm like, they nailed the landing. They did it all. It's well written. It's great. Love went from hating all the characters to loving all the characters, to hating all the characters. And then there's a couple of cameos. You're like, where the hell that come from? Can I tell you? Right. I did not see Barbie. I might. Everyone seems to love it. Right. Definitely a pop culture thing. Right. I thought Oppenheimer was freaking amazing. I did not see it. Would not see it. Not my cup of tea, bro. Why not? And I tell you what I did. So I can't do three hour movies. Yes, you can. I don't have the I can't do it. I don't have the attention span to tell you something. So Oppenheimer came out the Barb and Heimer thing. I missed the first two weeks. And then I'm like, all right, now that the hype is buzzed down a little bit. I love U.S. history. I have no shame in telling you this. I watched and found it on YouTube. The A &E biography half hour show. Remember any biography when we were kids? Oh, yeah, sure. Nineteen ninety seven. It was made on J. Robert Oppenheimer. And I watched the half hour. And I I implore all of your listeners, if you're going to go see Oppenheimer and you might think you're the biggest World War Two whiz and you might know everything about it. Watch this A &E biography. So you at least have a baseline knowledge. And then you go into this thing. And Jimmy, it is awesome. I loved it. I don't think it's getting enough love. I think Barbie stole the headlines. I thought Oppenheimer was incredible. You should really listen to Chris Russo as much as you can. He had on the author of the book book. The movie is based on for like an hour one day last week. And I'm like, well, what what what? And it was a good listening. I I didn't I had to, you know, move on. Let me tell you something. I love your Twitter feed. But what I love the most about it is a you're honest. You know, everyone was, you know, wagging their tongue about hard knocks. You come out, you're like, all right. I also love. Well, I just you'll put we'll get back to it. You post the clips of Russo, but I would never hear. I'm not in the car. I live in New York City. I don't have serious. That's why I do it. And your stuff with Russo. And I know he called you his fifth son or whatever he called you. It it it kind of gives context to the Chris Russo that everyone else in America is seeing on Wednesday. And it's like, I don't like his takes on the, you know, LeBron and the Lakers. Oh, no, guys, guys like Russo is a 40 year institution in our lives. And his takes on on Otto Graham and Oscar Robertson are far more entertaining for us than any thoughts he has on where James Harden's going as a free agent. 100 percent. What I want the people who just know him from first take to understand, because I think a lot of people seem on first take and they think it's an act and it's stick and it's like, I can assure you this is not stick. And it's not an act. I've been like, I remember once he came to the S.I. office to do the podcast and I introduced him to like the managing editor. And he just like went off, not went off in a in a mean way, but he got off in like the middle way about like the he's like, you had the September issue and you did not put this guy on the cover. I was surprised this guy should have been like it should have been on that issue. And you went with Fred Taylor. So when I see people criticized for thinking like it's big, I'm like, it's so not. No, it's not. He's authentic, which is, you know, and that whole J.J. Riddick thing popped up. I think they've come together and I think J.J. actually likes him. But that first thing with Riddick and I was like, I almost wanted to call J.J. who I don't know. And I'd be like, no, no, no, no, no, no. Like, that's not the guy. That's not your straw man. Like if you want to come at someone else. But Russo is different. Like Russo is a New York institution. And he really is. Big is your Howard Stern love, which we share. Yeah. Did you see? I know what you're going to say. I know you're going to sing. All right. This is crazy. So I don't know where you stand on Barstool. I mean, I like those guys for the most part with their content. And Portnoy obviously has this big sale and he's a big star. He had a tweet yesterday that he went to a very exclusive concert. There was an Ed Sheeran concert at a place called Steven Talkhouse, which is an Amagansett, probably 100 people. And Ed Sheeran performed and he gave a list of the people that were there. And one of them was Howard Stern out in public amidst a bunch of people at a concert. Jimmy, we know Howard. I didn't know he even left the Southampton bunker. No, he's been out and about now for a while at a concert. Yeah, he's been doing stuff. And here's what's funny about that. In my column today, this is Tuesday. So if you go to Tuesday's train of thoughts and I said, I come I have a video in there of Jerry Seinfeld arriving at the Ed Sheeran concert.

"Yeah, the NFL doesn't care. Not about you going to the game. They want to make sure you're watching the game. Yeah, Seaton. It feels like that one's a little more the Thursday night flex, a little more logistically difficult to pull off. Yeah, a little bit. A little bit. A little bit. Even with four weeks. Certainly feels like they're accommodating Amazon. It's like those guys got deep pockets. We want to continue to make them happy. You know, it's like what happens with the NFL you're is going to get the best games with the best announcer. You know, how do you surround the product? Sunday night always got the best games. Well, Sunday night had Chris Collinsworth and Al Michaels. And then you had Bob Costas, who was the studio host for a while. I was doing highlights with Keith Obermann. Then I eventually took over as the host. Sunday night football was really important to the NFL. And that's why Sunday night football got the best games from CBS or Fox ESPN. Monday night did not get a great slate. Then you get Troy Aikman and Joe Buck. And all of a sudden the NFL is going to accommodate ESPN and gave them a better schedule. Amazon comes in. Amazon's spending a lot of money. They want to accommodate them, make sure that they get a good product instead of those. You know, Thursday night, now Michaels was talking about this. You know, I'm just like, is anybody going to want to watch this product here? It wasn't good football. And then you didn't want that, you know, week 16 Skyler Thompson matchup against, you know, Baker Mayfield, you know, injuries. Then this way, let's say something happens to to a Tonga Bailoa, where he's going to miss a game, miss four weeks. Now you might flex out of a Dolphins game because you're not going to have, you know, a marquee matchup there or better odds with a better matchup there. Yeah, Paul. Yeah, there was a week 14 game last year. I think it was December 8th. It was Rams at Raiders, Rams Raiders. I don't know who was at home, but that on the schedule like, oh, that's that's great. Two relevant teams, two competitive teams. And then the Rams come out of nowhere, just have an awful season that you can get out of that one. Yeah, I understand it. But you know, you're planning your schedule if you want to go see your team play and it's going to be a Sunday afternoon game. Hey, we can go to that city. Now it's when we got to go Wednesday or Thursday morning for Thursday. And then so now kids are going to be out of school maybe for three days instead of maybe missing one on Monday or maybe you're able to come back from a Sunday one o 'clock game. So this just in the NFL is not really that concerned about you and they're not concerned

"First three quarters. The NFL schedule officially released NFL fans going crazy. It is interesting, it's kind of strange where you're looking at a graphic and you're getting excited. You know, it's not the draft. It's just the schedule. And you know who you're playing, you just don't know when you're playing those teams. But you're cheering a graphic, but it is football. And any chance to showcase the NFL and flash the shield, they do a wonderful job. But the NFL action is going to catch your attention, Kansas City kicks off the season, hosting Detroit. And the lines didn't make the playoffs last year, but the opening game should tell us a lot about the Detroit Lions. Detroit has received a lot of hype the in the off season. And Dan Campbell is a big personality, the Lions ended up 8 and two. They should have been a ten or 11 win team in my opinion. They knocked Aaron Rodgers in the packers out of the playoffs in week 18. Still a ways to go, they're not necessarily must see TV, but I think they're a really good team. And we talked about this yesterday. How many teams do you, when you think of them, you think of the coach? In the NFL, that doesn't happen very often. But Detroit is one of those teams, where you go, oh, how about the lines? Yeah, that Dan Campbell, he's kind of crazy, isn't he? He had done he went to bite your kneecaps. Yeah. That guy. Jon Gruden was one of those guys when he coached. Bill Belichick is a guy you think of when you think of the Patriots. There's nobody to think of with the Patriots. I wonder if they can get Tom Brady to show up at every home game, and thank Tom. And here we are for the 5th home game of the season. Let's bring out Tom Brady. How about for every Super Bowl? You bring out Tom that many times. And now we're finding out that maybe he's going to be a limited partner with the Raiders, ESPN is reporting that that he's buying into the Las Vegas Raiders. He is owner or part owner of the Las Vegas aces of the WNBA. Yes, Eden. Our two poll questions. Oh, okay. Would you rather be a limited partner with the Raiders or have a $375 million broadcasting contract? Well, he's going to have both. Neither neither. He's going to have both. You think so? Well, he can have both. Because Fox, they bless this agreement. I think it was the word. They blessed the arrangement that Tom is going to have with the Raiders. And the NFL doesn't have a problem with that either. I just don't know if Tom Brady is going to want to put in the time to be great as an NFL analyst. I don't know if he wants the grind. And it is, and you're traveling constantly. And his kids, nobody's in college, I think he has one in high school. I've had my doubts about it because I wondered if he can't do it, have bleep. He's got to be all in and he wants to be one of the best analysts. You put in the time, and let's say you're traveling Thursday for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and then you're flying out Sunday Night. So it's a long haul for 6 or 7 months there for him. And yes, he's getting paid ungodly amount there. I just don't know if that's, he seems like he's more of a businessman than an analyst, even though that's incredible money that he would be turning down. Just never, I'm going to be surprised if he does it. Yeah, we were talking about the Manning brothers, how they may appear to be more busy in retirement than they were when they played football. Yeah, you know that subway commercial ads. It's like Steph Curry's in it. Charles Barkley and they've had a bunch of stars over the past year. All of a sudden I look and there's Peyton Manning and now it's in the subway and it's like we got to get faint head of free day or is it the Corona ads with snoop and Andy Sam? Yeah. Now Eli Manning's in those ads. Yeah. This guy's needed day off. It's almost like they're filming something and then they walk through another set, another commercial and you go, oh, what are you guys doing? It's the subway spot. Oh, okay. I've seen those. They're not any good. I'll help. Yeah, all you have to do is say a corny line here. Yeah, just all right, see you later. Thanks for stopping by. All right, we'll get to phone calls coming up. And we talked about the best games on the NFL schedule, Ryan Fitzpatrick will join us coming up, talk to him about that. And let me see anything else that needs to be mentioned. Yes, I got a couple sneaky games for you. Sneaky game. That won't get a lot of play. Colts at Panthers week ten. I wish it was week one. Or the Texans in the Panthers, I think they play. Texans at panther is that 9? That's week 9, it's a 1 o'clock game on Fox. That'll be a rookie quarterback battle. Yeah, but I want to see that early because the teams might not be very good. I go back to Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota. But like the colts game where Anthony Richardson gets his debut is going to be the one you want to tune in to, whatever that's week four, we gate whatever it is. So colt's Panthers would be rookie quarterbacks week ten. Hopefully. And if it means Anthony Richardson's playing, then yeah, that'll be interesting. Also, the further we are in the season, is it the more likely that we'll see will levis with the Titans. And I would be curious about that as well. But you start to look at the prime time games, Kansas City, the Chargers buffalo and Dallas. They have 6 prime time games. Then it's the jets and the Giants, Green Bay and Minnesota surprised me, Las Vegas, Philly and San Francisco. Washington gets one. Tampa Bay Cleveland Tennessee Carolina and the rams get two. Saints, Seahawks, Jacksonville, Miami, get three. I would think Miami. And I don't know how big of a draw they are around the country. It feels like if you love Miami, you love them because of Dan Marino. But I don't know what kind of exciting team plus the biggest game of the year for the Miami Dolphins is against Kansas City, and they sent that to Germany. That I don't understand. You had tyreek hill coming back to Kansas City, got to have that. You got to have that in Kansas City. Yeah, Pauline. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but is the NFL looking at Miami and saying, I don't know that we want them on national TV. That situation with their quarterback tua and injuries, Skyler Thompson, when he starts, no one's watching the dolphins. I don't know, I just wonder two on national TV. I'll bet the NFL is leaning against that. Oh, I can't imagine that. You can still see the highlight. It doesn't matter if you see it in real time, you're watching the game, or it's going to be the highlight. It's going to be played over and over and over. If he gets hurt. So nix at the heat tonight, warriors at the Lakers and in case you're wondering, according to DraftKings, the warriors are getting two and a half, and the Knicks are getting 5 and a half in that game. Celtics speak the 76ers and now we have a game 7 on Sunday. The nuggets close out the suns and now you wonder what happens with Phoenix with some of the moves in the off season. If Boston loses, what kind of moves happen in the off season? I know they signed up, Joe Missoula, to be now he's their head coach, not an interim, is jaylen Brown gonna stay. Jaylen Brown made all NBA, got a max contract. Wow. Or at least he's eligible for that max contract. Yikes.

"Kind of hard to keep playing football after that. That really was incredible. I feel like Cameron will be at the game next week or the week after. Would be my guess. Because it seems like he's recovered really well already. Absolutely. And I think, you know, either that or they pop them up on the jumbotron or something. They'll just put some excitement in that building either way. Incredible story. Jesus. When we went to dinner on Tuesday, I mean, we had no idea what was going to happen. And by Friday, he was tweeting and it's just crazy. I know. It really is. How much, wow, just when you think skip Bayless could get fired. Oh no. That's the other side of it. So where do we think, let's guess where these lines are going to end up? 9 or Seahawks, I think that ends up at 11 and a half. Yeah, that'll go up a little bit. Yeah. Chargers Jags, I think gets to two and a half, maybe charges three if Mike Williams is healthy, but probably the two two and a half range, right? I'm very surprised 'cause I said it opened on two and a half, and it's one and a half now. So either somebody knows something, Mike Williams is out already, they know, even though that might not be a point or just stay off three. I love the Chargers. Well, my bike, Mike Williams, Twitter searching today. There was a tweet about how he was being helped to the bus after the game. That didn't seem awesome. No. He couldn't walk to the bus on his own. He's not an old lady, you know? If it was my dad, it would be one thing. Bills dolphins, I think that gets to 13. I really do. I think that there's no way by the weekend that we're not at 13, but that game. They do not want us putting that in three thesis. It's so right in the middle though, right? Is that line assuming that two is going to play? Because like I said, if it's Skyler Thompson, it should be too touchdowns. If two it plays, I genuinely feel like that's irresponsible. Especially after what we just went through on Monday, you're going to put a guy who said three concussions on a football field. I personally don't want to watch that. I agree with you, but I won't feel good about it. I think they make the call Tuesday too. I think that he's not playing. Put the fucking guy out for the year, like just do it. Why are we letting this linker? He's the three concussions. Have Kristen linsky. Just talk to Kristen winski for three minutes about this. Kristen winski would be like, please don't play this guy again. He's going to have permanent brain damage. Don't do it. You have to spread the concussions out and three is too many for a career. Let alone 9 weeks. Seriously. Vikings giants. I think that ends at two and a half. What do you think? No, I think you say three. Yeah, this is a three. This is a solid three. Bengals ravens if Lamar's playing, I could see drifting to Raven's plus 5 and a half. Yeah. Ravens plus 5 kind of Vegas zoning. Yeah, maybe. So how many quarterbacks are we waiting for? Yeah, because I normally probably would have said 5 and a half. How many? One, two, is it just two? It's just two quarterbacks. Two. These games. And whether Dax is going to show up for the season. I guess two and a half quarterbacks. We've got to save Cooper rush is available. They'll announce Thursday available to start. And then cowboys, you think three, I think it ends at two and a half. I

"One. That did come. So Miami. Gets three concussions in the same season. It doesn't seem like last week was their fault, but it does feel like the karma from the whole thing sunk their season. They're somehow not going to make the playoffs. It's kind of a stunning collapse. I was trying to think like imagine if the cowboys, you know, what are they lost 5 in a row, 6 in a row? 5 in a row. And now they're not going to make the playoffs probably. It would be like the biggest, it would lead all the TV shows on Monday, right? Oh, sure. Oh my God, cowboys. What are they going to do? What's Jared going to do? Because it's the dolphins, people are like, yeah, whatever. But what a colossal fuck up by them. Yeah, we were talking about our old runners, right? If you had over 8 and a half and what did you say they were 8 and three? And now they're 8 and 8. That's awful. Commanders is a bad one too. They had a, they were like 7 and 5 and they did was 8, 7 and a half or 8 or something like that. But yeah, the dolphins I don't want to make head injury joked, but for God's sakes, I mean, could you be more unlikely? They brought, I think they brought the tent to Bridgewater. I'm not even making a joke here. Did you say it was like sitting down and they brought it over him. Right. They put a shot. What is going on with this team? And why would Skyler Thompson want to step up in this role? At this point. So they beat the Texans right after Thanksgiving. And in December, they lost to the forty-niners, the Chargers,

"Them, right? The stewards are probably better equipped than the Patriots, but very similar blueprint. Good defense. Run the ball. Kill clock. Keep mahomes off the field. I think Pittsburgh is just a better team than the Patriots right now. The Patriots, I don't know how we ended up here Sal. Where the Patriots are 8 and 8. They're somehow alive. My dad's getting excited. He's like, who knows? Play buffalo could end up playing them in consecutive weeks. Two weeks in a row, yeah. The defense is, since week three is number one overall DVA. And they've been really good. They have 7 touchdowns. And over and over again, they've been able to not just keep the Pats in the games, but actually have been more of a scoring weapon for the time to time. But somehow, I was prepared for this team to go 7 and ten. I was thinking about who would be like the 9th pick in the draft. And now I have to talk myself into just them being in round one and just becoming a good fan and just not looking at the glass half empty stuff. Like the worst offensive coordinator we've had since dick Cory. None of that stuff. Just the positives. How good the defense has been that we can run the ball that max throws an SD barber. I just got to get her head around it. Yeah. You got it. You're rap, man. You're already wrapped. I heard it. I heard it a whole unwrapping right there. And your defense is good. They somehow score a lot. Don't they have like 9 touchdowns or defense? I think it was 7. Plus a couple special sad touchdowns. I'm just going to oh, okay. So that's what I was. 7 defensive touchdowns though. Yeah, okay. And to run back. It was crazy because it felt like Miami had that game as 14 7. Pats can do Jack shit. And all of a sudden, Bridgewater throws the pick 6 and gets hurt on the pick 6. Right. That one's like a ten 12. It's the game's completely different. Yeah. Skyward Thompson comes in. For a second, I was like, oh, Skyler Thompson's not that bad, but that's a tough spot to throw him in. Home game. It felt like the home crowds matter today. Did you feel that way? I thought it mattered in the niners game. That definitely mattered in the packers game. It mattered in this game. The patch dolphins game. Even the ravens game, the crowd was great. I think the stewards are a better team and the crowd kept the ravens in it. Well, I thought so too, but then when the key is when you hear like friar mooth catch a pass and how many moves to be here and I don't know, it's kind of lively. I thought, but yeah, there were a couple of stewards fans. They did. Did that move they know? I never know, what does that mean for how many people are actually at the game? Because that's like the loudest sound you can hear, right? Yeah, yes. Like a hundred people and it sounds, that's true. That's true. And it could be Boeing. You never know what it is. You really don't. Well, let me get your honest opinion on the Pats because I'm just, I can't look at it objectively anymore. I don't think the Pats are good. But I know their defense is good, but offensively I just know when they get to the playoffs that I just know what's going to happen. It's going to be all the same shit I've been watching for four months. Am I too negative on this too? You might be a little bit, but what do you mean good? Like they're as good as any 7 seed should be, right? If you end up 9 and 8, that's probably about right before we did the season, right? We did our totals. By the way, you're killing it. I didn't want to give you any credit at all, but you are kind of both of us did well. When we did that over or under before the year, I think both of us have a chance to get to over 20 wins. I have a chance. Yeah, and I'm like 11 and 7 or something. Something crazy. This guy Chris Haynes shout out to him. He keeps track of all this. God forbid Kyle keep track of something like this. No, he would never do that. No, I thought I was like 18 and 6 and you were like 16 and 9. Is that where some stuff decided today? Yeah, no, we're doing really well. Yeah, but anyway, so we had to decide between the dolphins or pager. It didn't have to decide they could have both gone over, weren't they both 8 and a half. I think we argued on the pot. It's like, all right, you gotta it's one or the other. You can not both. I took the thing I went under in the Pats, I went over in the dolphins and you did the opposite. And we're right there. We're right there with each other. So I think that's where you are. I think you're a 7 seed. You're a 9 and 18. Decent offense, not explosive at all. And as good a defense as most teams, except for like maybe two or three. Yeah, I guess the real question is, does the 7 seed even matter in the AFC? You could argue maybe if Baltimore is the 60 that might not matter as much either. It feels like

"Like for their offense? Kyrie Irving and the nets visiting the pacers on Wednesday on ESPN tonight, warriors in Dallas to face the mav 7 30 Eastern Time. Golden State will be back home this weekend and the expectation is Klay Thompson will be returning to the court for Sunday's game against the Cavaliers, Thompson's been out two years with injuries torn left ACL from 2019 and a torn Achilles in November of 2020. Between Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving, two significant returns in the NBA this week, which player is going to have a greater impact on his team. ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins. It's going to be clay Thompson. And the reason being is one, he's going to take so much pressure off of Steph Curry. And then two, here's the thing. I understand that John pooh Andrew Wiggins, all those young guys have been playing well, but they're not clay Thompson. They're not battle testing. We watch clay in 2016 in the western conference fibers be the best player on the floor against the Oklahoma City Thunder and we'll jump to victory in a must win situation. So when you look at a guy like Clayton, he, the man so much attention, almost similar to stuff that he's going to impact the warriors, which is going to be so scary for the NBA, which is going to make the warriors the favorite to win the championship. Let's talk about kairi's return tomorrow night against the pacers. What's the one thing you're going to be watching for in that game from Kyrie? The chemistry, the chemistry between the big three. Who are they going to pick up on where they left off last year in the small sample size? These James Horton gonna go back to being their point guard and facilitator and Leighton Katie and Kyrie Irvin be the leading scores of rock out. Like that's what I want to see. And I think this was a smart move by the Brooklyn Nets, although they gave me a part time by letting their team get adjusted to only having Kyrie Irving on the road. So that you could develop some type of mental mindset to know when we go on the playoffs. This is how it's gonna be. Nets and Irving had been a part since October 12th, but now he's back in the fold for road games, nets. Go into this game on Wednesday, having lost three straight.
