Whispers of trouble - listen to your plane

"If airplanes could talk what would they say? Well, they can talk if we learn how to listen and pay attention sometimes the languages subtle in a new sound or vibration. Sometimes they scream as when my friends number five cylinder unexpectedly dropped valve resulting in a broken piston, complete oil loss and prompt engine failure. Some sudden catastrophic failures are impossible to predict, but others can be predicted and possibly avoided. Ask pilots. A mental note of what our instruments usually indicate and look for deviations that could indicate A. OR PENDING FAILURE Just because the indication is still in the green range does not mean that nothing is wrong knowing the usual indications for our own engine will allow us to listen for any deviation and investigate the issue. I am fortunate and get to fly three hundred hours a year commuting to work as an emergency room physician. My Commute is from Statesboro Georgia to lagrange. One to two times each week, the fight one, hundred and seventy, two nautical miles and takes about seventy minutes each way in my highly modified North American navien. My engine was a continental I o five, fifty be that was freshly overhauled just a few years ago. I always change the oil between twenty five and thirty five hours instead of waiting until fifty hours. On two occasions, my engine instruments have displayed unusual oil pressure indications. The first indication was in June two, thousand sixteen during a return trip from New Mexico. The June weather was beautiful and via far but very hot all along the route home. During the flight the oil pressure ran about five to seven PSI lower than usual but otherwise acted normally oil temperature was less than two hundred degrees Fahrenheit for the entire flight. The engine ran great and continue to produce plenty of power I. nervously watched the pressure as it stayed steady in the green range and continued our trip home. The oil consumption remained as usual during that trip and we arrived home on eventually. Once home. The oil was changed in a new paper element oil filter installed prior to this oil change I was using a reusable stainless steel mesh oil filter that was removed and disassembled for inspection at each oil change. On Inspection, I found that the Steel Mesh had accumulated some residue that narrowed the openings in the Mesh. I, reasoned that the oil filter was restricting flow and oil pressure. So I returned to using paper element oil filter that is discarded at each oil change the oil pressure return to normal and I return to flying with my usual oil pressure of forty five to forty six PSI in cruise flight. That engine continued to run great and showed no problems. Regular oil filter cutting revealed no metal and oil analysis was always normal. So normal that I skipped cutting the filter and oil analysis when I changed the oil in December of twenty seventeen. I continued to fly Navien until late February twenty eighteen when something changed. I was flying to work and noticed my oil pressure was once again lower than. It was down into the Middle Thirties but once again remained in the green range and steady. I increased RPM from low cruise at two thousand, three hundred to hike cruise at two, thousand, five hundred and the oil pressure returned to the usual forty, five to forty, six PSI. The oil temperature was around one hundred and sixty degrees, Fahrenheit. which is the usual oil temp in cool weather for that engine. I was concerned about the oil pressure indication but I had seen this occurrence previously the weather was good and the pressure was backup to usual. So I continued on to lagrange. Three days later I returned home to Statesboro. Now comes the lucky and scary part. The flight home was night I F R and I flew the Runway three to approach into statesborough. Before departing I checked everything carefully and the oil pressure on run-up was normal. I watched the oil pressure carefully and flew home that high cruise power setting. I landed uneventfully but noticed that oil pressure at idol was a lot higher than usual. Low Minimum oil pressure at idol with the engine. Hot is ten PSI. But mine was always fifteen to twenty PSI. This night I was looking at thirty five PSI at idol with the engine hot. I had never seen idol oil pressure that high but was not concerned. I push the airplane into my home hanger and return the next morning to change the oil. The tachometer showed the engine had accumulated fourteen hundred and forty five hours since overhaul. Drained the oil and replace the oil filter and began refilling the crank case with fresh oil. When I decided, it was time to cut the oil filter. I found a large amount of metal in the filter. The oil that drained out of the filter was filled with metal flakes that look like silver glitter on my hand. What happened I had not cut the oil filter or submitted an oil sample at the last oil change. So there was no way of knowing what I would have found then. Had I, not cut an examined the oil filter on this oil change. I would not have found the metal in time and bad things would have happened on the next flight. When I disassembled the engine, I found the two of the main bearings had turned in the crank case, and we're obviously very near having a catastrophic failure. Now. This engine did not vibrate knock or suffering power loss. The only in-flight indication of any problem was changed from the usual oil pressure readings with the actual reading remaining in the normal range. As Buck my old flight instructor would have said she was talking to you. I was not listening carefully enough but survived just the same. This is the accident that never happened simply because I cut the oil filter. Had I, submitted the oil for analysis and waited for the results before flying again, the problem could have been discovered, but I fly too often to await test results. I would've received an urgent phone call from my oil analysis company, but it would have been after the accident. My current practice is to cut every oil filter at time of oil change cutting the oil filter while messy is free and gives immediate feedback. This simple process can save your airplane and your life.

Can I Move a Blue Spruce Now?

"We have a blue spruce growing in our garden. It's about two feet tall is it okay to move it now or should I wait until next spring? either. At two foot is just about a prime time. Now in that you have likely not root, Prune that plant or or or young plant Take. A sufficient amount of route with it whether you do it in this fall or next spring I'm inclined on spruce to say go ahead and get it done now if it was pine. Just for General Information I. Wait Until Spring, and move it just before gross starts that there's just a difference in in the tolerance for handling etc But as a spruce goes, I would say anytime now through into the Thanksgiving toward Christmas time because the plant is essentially done making food for this year. So it would it should move without too much problem and or early. March. Through into the very early part of April would be another good time in the spring. So if if football schedules yet you down this fall, you've got spring to work with when there isn't a football game to be watched and any special care once you have that that blue spruce transplanted will yes and let's just say that Theoretically you could go out and dig it and move it. Now today if you did you need to water today, you plan it next day and then wait a week and water heavily again so that you've water three times in that first week. Now then. assuming fall is anywhere near normal. We will have rains we will have cooling all of which slows down growth, but the soil is still warm and we're after route growth on that transplant embiid spruce as we're speaking of or other plants. So you need to water not to the point of drowning by any means, but I would say that every ten to fourteen days in this case, a bucket of water sprinkling handful of water would would be sufficient clear into the period past Thanksgiving because the soil as far as the plant is concerned is still warm. It's probably fifty five or sixty degrees at this point good for growth good for growth good for transplant. Just don't let them go dry.

Why Is a Brain-Shaped Blob In Canada?

"Stuff. This is Krista. Sager. lagoons are famous for creepy swamp preachers but in Canadian Park in Vancouver British, Columbia scientists have found something possibly just as outlandish a slimy gelatinous brain blob. Well, okay. It's not really a brain and it's not really even an it. It's a collection of tiny creatures collectively called a magnificent bryozoans or also known by its Latin name as Pectin Tele. MAGNIFICO this colony forms a brain shaped mass can grow to be larger than a human head and I think we can all agree that's a really weird now bryozoans sometimes, they're also called Maas animals there an. Ancient Group of filter feeders. The earliest fossil evidence of one of these colonies can be dated back about four hundred, seventy, million years individually each tiny invertebrate called Zo Lloyd Ken just barely be seen with the naked eye it's only about half a millimeter or about point zero, two inches long. But when hundreds of them assemble, they can glue themselves together with a special protein to form all sorts of shapes, sheets, columns, and even branched tree like structures. Now, actually, fossilized bryozoans are among the world's most abundant fossils as well, and you can find them in rocks originating more than four hundred. And fifty million years ago up until the present, their colonies start with a single zoysia which asexually reproduces until it's got an entire army of clones to hang out with most bryozoans, species live in marine habitats but the one found in Vancouver's Stanley Park belongs in freshwater it just doesn't really belong in Vancouver Canada this August the Stanley. Park Ecology Society held its annual bio blitz a community event in which citizens scientists survey the park identifying hundreds of organisms in twenty four hours in the lost lagoon, which is the parks bio filtration pond blitz goers discovered the giant slimy football shaped. Bribes zone thousands of miles from home. Their usual range is decidedly to the south of Canada and east of the Mississippi River and it turns out. This isn't the first time. A magnificent bryozoans has been found in this part of Canada and nobody can tell whether they're staying either. But why they're there is a different question like with most migrating or these days warming global temperatures might have opened the door of the great white north to these probably ecologically harmless blobs they need a water temperature warmer than sixty degrees Fahrenheit or sixteen degrees Celsius in order to make a go of it.

Breaking the Esports Audio Sponsorship Mold w/ 100 Thieves VP of Esports and JBL's Global Director of Marketing Comms

"While the podcast. So we're going to be breaking down this deal for both perspectives. It see how the cookie crumbles really what it comes down to how these deals habit. You see all the headlights you see the products being worn by the players Orga dive into really the steps that lead up to the creation of a brand deal like this one. So starting out from the early stages which side reach out I was JBL. Making the step over to one hundred thieves or one hundred thieves reaching out to jbl. Do you guys remember? I'm pretty sure we were the ones that initiated the contact. Through an agency that we're working with at the time to help us to grab craft our approach to to exports into gaming in general. So I i. think we were the first ones to to to. To Extend the hand. Absolutely, Jacob, do you remember when those conversations started and the energy was like a as you reached out? This is a space that's really filled with a lot of partners jbl. Here's a legacy audio brad reaching out to you remember what those early conversations through like. Yeah. A excitement is always Key in figuring out these partnerships and really looking at all brandon and who reposition ourselves with. We need partnerships that we that we truly get behind an ice either about So with JBL obviously premium quality products something we feel like we represented in displays of east bolts. So while I, can't remember the. The. Stop Time. All who initiates I remember you know sort of the. The sense of feeling in the room once we came over the initial hurdle of introductions and you know that was one of excitement. Absolutely. I can only imagine the seems like a trend that's happened this year of these really log running brands enter eastward seeing that with Herman. Miller. For example, in the complexity partnership, you've got a brand that well out dates video games, much less e sports getting into the space promising. Hey, we've got this great product that's been used by all these other industries, and now we want to be involved in East Sports Michael From your perspective. Why was J B L A natural fit for East? Sports. So I I think to to answer that it was. We were looking at this more as a great fit for gaming and where we think gaming is is going in the future if you take a look at how the graphics within the game have evolved over the last fifteen or twenty years like. It has grown in leaps and bounds, and so the realism that's now. Prevalent in President Gains. Really helps to create the super immersive experience for Gamers and we felt like sound was a piece that was that was lagging in that equation. And so our whole idea was we want the gamers actually be able to hear the game in the same way that they see it. and. When we identified that as a need in space, that's when we knew it was time for us to actually enter. We didn't want to be just another brand that said, hey, gaming. It looks cool. Let's do that. We wanted to make sure that we're actually bringing something new table and and actually you know solving a need that we thought consumers gaming space might have. And that was really the whole impetus for US designed to get into gaming. Absolutely in every game knows how important audio is you mentioned how graphics approving well, sow does it prove it as well especially in the battle royale? Sowed is so important you've three hundred, sixty degree view. There's always people either above below at identified where they are and reacting to it is becoming an increasingly important part of being successful in eastport. Jacob you of a background is professional player. Could you talk about how audio matters especially at the highest levels of water video game? Yeah. Absolutely like you mentioned the. But I think The. The shooter Genre in general audio is one of the most primary importance of of of performance ride. So when we first started this conversation, it aligned sort of when we. Just picked up our counter strike team as well. both counterstrike fortnight now valor and call of duty call everything right sound. So very pivotal to to play performance. So as one of the the first conversations that I remember having was making sure that whoever we partnered with on the audio category, it would be a product that we were excited to use them that all of our. Players get behind and use on a daily basis because of how how big of an importance it has on the products on performance site So it was very reassuring. I remember Maddie from from team coming into the conversation saying listen it's got it's going to be jpl I'm really excited about this what are your concerns here because mostly on the performance side without teams and so Speaking on behalf of all of our players and going into the competitions it's important that we have You know state of the OPS. Hardware. When when we playing whether that's mountain. audio. Absolutely, you're only as good as your equipment. Well, that's a lie could be better than your equipment plenty of types, but at the highest level, those little those little differences really make a big deal. Michael

Farmer grows greens year-round in Minnesota

"It's almost summer. And in many places, people are looking forward to buying fruits and vegetables from local farms, but Halley Anderson of Tenth Street farm and market, and after Minnesota says buying fresh local produce can be a year round affair, even in Chile state. We are able to harvest a product offer farm all year round. Emerson uses unheated high tunnels which are plastic covered structures to grow spinach in the winter. She also has one tunnel that heated or not doing it in a way where we are using a lot of carbon to heat, major structures to sixty degrees grow. Tomatoes are heated tunnel were only heating to twenty eight. Plus. She says even that small amount of heat enables her to grow Kale a rubella and Baby Greens for her community during Minnesota's coldest months. And she says that's good for the climate. Because eating local food reduces the carbon pollution caused by trucking food long distances, her unheeded tunnels are useful in the summer to for example during extreme weather that can be moved in use to protect delicate crops are tomatoes. Loving Your Skin and Niaouli Essential Oil

"Today. We're excited to sit down with Susan Cravat to talk about the. Doe Tara SPA hydrating botanist. And we'll also take a look at a special new oil. Susan. Thank you so much for joining us today. Thank you for having me. I am so thrilled to be able to talk about this product. I think it's one that is so popular with people. So can you tell us about why Tara chose to create the dough? Tariffs by hydrating body missed. Sure so a few years ago, we released the beautiful tach, and it was so well received. We wanted the consumers to have it in enjoy an another way, and so that what happened and we created the hydrating body messed with the beautiful blend in it. And it does smell amazing beautiful blend? Is I mean a word beautiful? Can you tell us a little bit about the oils that are in that blend? Yeah, the essential oils in this are lying Bergamo and frankencense which primarily gives the hydrated vitamins. The amazing sent the smell. We have lime that comes from the south of Brazil are Burgum. Oh is sourced from southern Italy and Frankencense is made up of four different species of a few different regions, and so that together makes this beautiful amazing sent that you're smelling. So in addition to those incredible essential oils, what are some of the other ingredients in the hydrating? Miss that helped to soften and hydrate the. Absolutely, so the wonderful botanical moisturizers are coconut, oil, passion, fruit, seed, oil, sunflower, seed, oil, avocado, oil, and the combination of these oils really helps to promote mounts and smooth skin, so those are kind of the most important things in the hydration of the skin, and it just makes a beautiful combination. And absolutely feels so luxurious. It doesn't feel heavy or like. It's going to fill up. Your pores or anything like that is wonderful. It is so Susan. How do you incorporate the hydrating mist into your daily routine? Okay this product is probably one of my very very favorites, and so this at convention last year I, was excited because I got to have hands on with the consumers and having them experience it the way that I use it on the daily basis, and so what I like to do is I. Take the hand of body lotion I put about a nickel sized into my palm, and then I put about two to three sprays into the palm of my hand and cocktail that together with my hands. I just read my hands together. So you're getting a more luxurious and rich and hydrating experience, so if you live in dry drier, climates or You just need a little extra boost in hydration for your skin. It's a great way to combine those two wonderful. Not Sounds amazing and like you said luxurious I think that self care and taking the time to care for your body is so important it is. So. Is there anything else that you would like people to know about the hydrating mist? Yeah one of the things in this goes more into function is that it has a three hundred sixty degrees sprayer, so it is an airless tube so when you have the sprayer upside down in most bottles, you wouldn't be able to spit out onto your body. Maybe one or two in it would stop so this airless tube makes it so that you can spray it upside down and hard to reach places, which that in itself is really handy, because you can get all the places on your body for hydrogen experience absolutely and I think that is wonderful and definitely makes it unique. Thank you so much for talking with us today for. Your insights about the doe tariffs SPA. hydrating body missed your so welcome. Thanks for having me. We're now going to switch to talk about very special new oil Kniola. Picture a land in drought. Dust blowing through the air and the sun beating down. It's an inhospitable environment and in your mind's eye. You might not picture much growing there. But there is a plant that you would not expect to see. And that's the only tree. This endurable tree can survive severe droughts or extreme rainy seasons. Even forest fires cannot destroy it. In, an Australian, Soils are nutrient deficient and flooded or wet for most of the year. In summer the rainfall dominates, and a light frost occurs in most years in the south. The spring associated with brief to acute water, stress and fire and water table. Fluctuations are major factors governing plant distribution. Yet, the Kniola tree thrives and continues on. Naively commonly known as the broad leaf, paperbark or paperbark tea tree is a small to medium sized tree of the myrtle family morte by. Other notable members of the. Family are Eucalyptus and clove. The scientific name for Kniola is Melaleuca Quinquina via. Melaleuca from the Greek words for black and white refers to the dark trunk and white branches. And Quinquina Servia comes from Latin and means five nerve which refers to the common number of Longitudinal veins present in the leaves.

Has ON1 Figured Out the Connected Experience?

"So starting this June you can subscribe to a complete photo capture management editing sharing system that works on Mac. Os Windows IOS and android devices. It's called on one three hundred sixty degrees and there's quite a bit to unpack with it before you even get into the new stuff you know on one has been building a block by block a pretty good argument for being your photo management and editing solution. They've been working hard. The latest release of the one that it wasn't too long ago was photo raw and it's it's very nice and it rolls up a bunch of stuff. They have been working on before but now I really feel like they're pulling the whole thing together by adding this connected services cloud service and very importantly launching a mobile APP. Okay so you have the mobile apps for both I less than android. You have the desktop software for both Mac and windows and then you design a clever cloud based system to sort of help. You connect it all together with some pretty neat features. I'm GonNa talk about and then you do so at a competitive price. That's really what they're after here. That's argument and I have to say there's a lot to it really is okay. This service automatically keeps track of photos that you choose to access from any of your devices so that includes the Meta data and where you want to store them. The desktop and the mobile APPs share the same processing engine and I think that's important. Gazeta enables non destructive editing settings to remain in sync as well. So we've experienced this before right. I mean this isn't brand new with white room creative cloud. We can work on an image on her IPAD and you know get saved back to light room on our desktop computer in photos for Mac. Os allows us to do the same thing so it really isn't like this hasn't happened before I think the real appeal for those that are going to love. This will be in the details on how they do it and how much they charge you to do it right and you know sooner or later you know. We have to have the price discussion right and we're going to have it today as well. So let's start with some of the features so you have all the powerful editing features of photo raw and Federov. Their image. Editing application has been evolving very nicely over the last number of months. So you have that okay and those of you that that already have photo raw. What will happen in June is? They'll be an update available to it that will allow it to connect to the cloud. Service the on one three sixty degrees. Now you get to choose which photos to sync between devices and this is somewhat similar to light room desktop that allows you to choose a folder album a collection a collection. You have to remember. Which APP am I talking about collection? allows you to choose a collection that you can share of the creative cloud and then access it via your tablet or your phone on one takes us approach to so they don't take the all or nothing that you know everything that you're working on has to go into the cloud or anything like that. They want to give you as much flexibility as possible. Your original files. Wherever they happen to to be they stay there. Okay they stay in that location so if your original files are on your desktop computer and you decide to share you know the say album of images you know through the cloud service to your mobile devices into other computers. Your originals don't travel up to the cloud they stay on your computer all right so and and I think that's a pretty important feature what what on one does is that. It creates sort of a compressed raw file version of it. And those that you choose to share. And that's what they upload to the cloud service. Now they're compression. Option is four times smaller. They say than than the raw file itself but a very high quality so in a sense is probably fair to say that it is a compressed raw file. And we're seeing cannon do this we're seeing other folks do this so you know. This is something that that we know works and that can be quite good. Here's a feature that is going to be competitive with the service for one license. You get five desktop computers and five mobile devices. That's pretty strong. One of the the walls that I slam into a lot with my Adobe creative cloud subscription my photographer subscription it gives me light room mobile and so on and so forth is that is only for two machines. I regularly work with three machines and so I find myself always having to disabled one in order to enable the other and you know do all that kind of stuff so so this five machines. I liked that five. Machines is a nice uneven number. That's perfect for probably most folks. Five machines will work for me quite nicely and then they give you a flexible pricing plan. What THEY WANNA do is if you want to own the application itself photo raw you can do that you can buy it or you can rent it and roll it into the cloud subscription. Which is you know. Three hundred sixty degrees. What they're calling. So you have an option so you can either. You know. Say Hey I want to own the software and then you know all subscribe to the cloud service as I needed or as they don't need it or you know however you WanNa do that you have a couple options within the cloud service or you can say hey I just WanNa rent the whole kit and caboodle and You know just have them take care of everything and the pricing depends on what you're going to do and we're actually going to cover pricing in this segment. Now I want to read you a little something from their site. That explains what they're doing here. Is I thought that the copy was pretty good and I thought it made a lot of sense. At least I understood. Okay on one pulls off this magic by creating a temporary version of the photo under the hood similar to a compressed raw file and storing it in the cloud. The photo maintains the tone in color of the original photo while using only about twenty five percent of the cloud. Storage Space Atypical. Raw file uses for those who demand the full raw file at all times and don't care about the storage space uploading and editing. The raw photo itself is also an option. So you can go either way however I think to save money. Most people will at least give this a try. This compressed Rafal approach. Now as I mentioned before your original photo files stay. Put right where you keep them. Your original photos can live on any of your devices including external hard drives and file servers again. I think that's that's a pretty important point. You can choose to upload copies of your original photos to on one three hundred sixty degrees as well if you need to access the full original file remotely.

How I Built Resilience

"Okay onto today's bonus episode. So as some of you know we've started this new series of online video conversations. Where every week? I talked to a founder or an entrepreneur or just a wise person about how they are building resilience into their businesses. Right now and in case you missed these conversations. When they happen live. We are posting an excerpt. Right here every Thursday in your podcast feed and you can see all of them on our facebook page facebook dot com slash. I built this. Just click on videos anyway. Last week I spoke with six chefs about the impact of cove in nineteen on the food industry. And today we're bringing you conversation with. Jose Andress the founder of world's central kitchen. Jose as many of you know is a Michelin starred chef known for as many restaurants around the country including minibar in Washington. Dc AND BAZAAR IN L. A. Jose is no stranger to giving back in two thousand ten after the earthquake in Haiti he founded ruled Central Kitchen which is a nonprofit that provides meals during times of crisis specifically natural disasters and in the wake of the Corona Virus. Pandemic ruled central. Kitchen has been on the ground serving hundreds of thousands of meals daily to people all over the world. I spoke with Jose at his home in Maryland. Where he's cooking with his family delivering meals and feeding the masses by borrowing some bigger kitchen's like the kitchens at the stadium where the Washington nationals play baseball in Washington DC. I've seen some videos. You outside the stadium then literally delivering food How are you doing are you? How are you staying safe? When when when you're doing that work well listen People as being from the beginning why we do what we do. I mean frankly was Chan is doing close to two hundred thousand meals a day so they will reach three million meals way. The today on this is reality. But we don't do it the long way our organization that we've proven over and over that we can go from is more organization to sometimes the main organization in a in an emergency in Bama's we were the first one on the ground Fed for the NYLAND's eighty thousand today. We were the first one Sundays before anybody else show up here. Obviously America's own is what we belong on to be able to put the know. How of wasn't Kitchen the surveys of federal Americans is the best Moment in that in the way of we wish we were out of business and we had to do it but we Feeding save thousands many of them American people In the British cruise ship we help the government than we went cutting four to help the Governor. Newsom to look the same in Oakland. We knew that this was about to happen. We call it from the beginning. This is going to become a health prices. Obviously everybody's GonNa talk about the economic crisis but above all these may become a big humanitarian crisis not only America but the run the world humanitarian crisis because Latvia foot. So how we do it. We are trying to build restaurants to join. We have more than five hundred restaurants across America. We are adding new restaurants almost everyday. Well why we do it. Because who better than defeat Americans than the same chefs do it in the good times is not like restaurants that are gonna be retiring from what we are able to contribute by. The restaurants are barbed distribution. Their leaders shops. The owners of the restaurants are in their communities. They know their communities better than anybody with partner with local organizations that know the neighborhoods very well so we may be feeding into bronze in Harlem only housing fellows that need our breasts because nobody else is there or all of the southern many angios receiving funding May NGOs. Don't have any more the same luxury of volunteers on the systems that we took for granted are shutting down with forget the NGOs are the third biggest employer in America on. When does India are not up and running this system breaks? We should be super thankful for them. Because they do an amazing opening surveys. So what we're doing is covering the blind spots. We are in more than hundred cities as we speak in multiple estates. I'm always do it. Will we partner ownerships achieves something very simple at three hundred sixty degree response What we see here is how together we can show Congress and the White House what legislation what bills. They have to pass to make sure that we're no wasted fought by farmers no being able to sell it and throwing in the fills or the production. When this time we have many cities across America? Where families are hungry. We're trying to rein smart solutions.

Seedlings Are Arriving Early - What Do I Do With Them?

"SEEDS DOT COM cultivating successful growers for generations and he says various bulbs and bare root plants are beginning to arrive in the mail. But it's too early to plant. Should I keep them in the fridge? Until MID-MAY SHOULD I go ahead and pop them up right now to transplant later or can I go ahead and put them in the ground? Well maybe all of the above. Now let's go with the refrigerator. I would be very cautious a at this time of year with the natural soil warming. I would go to the warmest part inside your refrigerator unless you say hopefully without having to fuss about it you'd find out that there's an area of forty degrees in your frigerator. That's where put these things. However being essentially we all had in fact it is the middle of March. You could start putting them up. Get him them. Growing you'd have Mar- April may have two months to get them ahead of the game So you can go with that and then I. I'm sorry that it was the third part. Can you possibly just go ahead and put them on the growled? Well some yes now for example if you have received peonies or you've received Well I'M GONNA go the other way. If you have received peonies they could be planted right. Now they're perfectly hardy. If you have received hoste you can plant them right now. Now I would still put some mulch over the top just for let's say to provide some care In case now the other thing that Last week over at the Dover New Philadelphia Area I was given three beautiful tubers of caladiums. I planted them year after year. And where mine where where his came from Florida and I share in that now. They were big boats. I put them in the spring and they're much smaller than the fall so I don't even save more anymore sometimes but at the same time. I have indeed part of those up in a six inch pot. I put good soil. Good potting soil in. I soak the daylights out under get the soil down in around the wolves or tubers etc and then I won't water them until that soil is drying pretty good For pretty significantly I should say now The drying you don't want to over water that they they will stand some water when they're growing but right now I don't want a Rut that tuber so I did soak the daylights out of them where I will water other things than in a week. Which will be tomorrow I have I will not water them. The the soil was still moist. When I touch it with my top on my knuckles I'm going to let them go for another week. I want to keep them in the house period because they can't they just don't like anything below sixty degrees. They're they're They're like some of my friends. They travel south in the wintertime. And they they won't come back up until it is sixty degrees. Well they're they're going to be there and other plants of that same nature if if for example you got some Shasta daisies or whatever it might be. You could again. Pot does up start them indoors. Now the the thing that will happen though you'll have them so far ahead you probably won't dare put them out on until around the middle of May Depends what are happens. Where season does but you You don't want to get things going too far and put them out on less. You have then hardened them off. I had a four by four box if you will with a translucent top that I used to use under these circumstances where I'd get things started indoors. I would put them out in this box. You could close the top or you could open it for air and temperature control and so on And I could get a plant two three four weeks ahead. One of my friends always always always had tomatoes growing by now he had highlight me. Had A

Myth-Busting Coronavirus

"Heard some crazy things this week and I'm sure you've all been hearing things from friends on social media and even on mainstream media as a result there's a lot of information and misinformation out there. Let's walk through some of the biggest myths and give you the facts number one drinking water every fifteen minutes will flush out the virus and keep you safe. This is false. There are many home remedies doing the rounds drinking water or taking garlic for vitamin C. But there is no evidence that any of these in any quantity will protect you from the novel. Corona virus there is currently no cure and while research is underway. It could be more than a year before a vaccine becomes available. The best way to protect yourself is to practice good hygiene wash. Your hands often was open water for at least twenty seconds. Cover your mouth and nose when you cough and seek treatment. If you're not feeling well. These aren't myths and they really work number. Two Corona viruses man made and was developed as a biological weapon as the corona virus spiraled into a public health crisis in China. A fringe theory started to take hold on the Internet that the virus was man made in a lab. There is no credible information to back this up and the posts mostly come from unverified social media accounts scientists in both China and the West have widely dismissed these theories although that hasn't stopped them from spreading experts are still trying to figure out the exact source of the virus but research indicates that likely originated in bats then to an intermediate host before jumping to people just like the virus that caused the two thousand. Three SARS epidemic number. Three heat can kill the virus by April or during the month of April. The heat generally speaking kills this kind of virus so that would be a good thing president. Donald Trump has previously suggested. That heat kills the virus and that it would be over by spring but public health experts. Say there's no way to know this for sure. People have taken this idea to the extreme using hairdryers hot bats and UV LAMPS. To try and disinfect themselves. The World Health Organization has said these methods are ineffective and shouldn't be used as they can actually irritates your skin or just burn you. We do see cases of flu decree says the weather gets warmer and there are several theories. Why some point to the physics of the virus itself other point to the fact that kids major transmitters of the flu aren't in school anymore. We are seeing cases of the corona virus currently spreading in hot countries on Wednesday. Hollywood actor Tom. Hanks confirmed he had the virus and he's in Australia where summer just ended temperatures there remain around sixty degrees. Fahrenheit. Of course there is no way to know where Tom Hanks actually contracted the infection. And there's also no way to know for sure what role heat or humidity have to play here number four. The virus can be spread through mail or packages from China. It's new strain of corona virus. Has Many people asking questions like is it safe to open mail from overseas getting a letter from China or any country? That has corona virus. Cases is not going to make you sick. The World Health Organization agrees even though the virus can stay on surfaces for several hours. It has to be under the perfect conditions. It is unlikely that it will live after being moved traveled and exposed to different temperatures. If you do think a surface packages contaminated simply use a disinfectant to clean it and after touching it. Wash your own hands with soap and water number five. Everyone who has corona virus will die. This is simply not true. The disease can be fatal but those cases are rare the current fatality rate globally according to the WHO is around three to four percent but there are experts who believe it is actually much closer to one percent people who get infected will typically get sick with a mild to moderate upper respiratory tract illness similar to a common cold symptoms include cough sore throat headache and fever that lasts a few days most of the time for healthy people. The symptoms go away on their own people who have underlying health conditions or those who are older do need to take extra precautions but with an early diagnosis and the right treatment. They too can recover. The key right now is to stop the virus from spreading and for all our health institutions to be prepared to test people and treat those who need it. The bottom line is don't believe every piece of information you read on the Internet. Some of the rumors out there are ridiculous. Let me be clear. The novel Corona virus can infect anyone regardless of age or ethnicity so. Check the source of the information. You're getting see who else can corroborate it. And if you're ever unsure check with a health professional can give you the correct guidance on. What's best for you?

That's not what we do here when we were returned to Chinese control in nineteen ninety seven by the British. The deal was we have our own legal system. We don't get your system implemented onto us. President Trump on veiling new immigration plan, calling it a merit based high security plan that will help all of our people. The president says it will create a fair modern and lawful immigration system. Fully secures the southern border with a wall. The president stressing, the plan will stop the smuggling of migrant children and would fix a broken silence system by moving the US toward a merit based immigration system. More now from ABC President Trump has introduced an immigration plan. That would change the rules for who gets permission to come to this country. It would be a merit based system. He says the current system prioritizes low-wage poorly educated applicants, newcomers compete for jobs against the most vulnerable Americans and put pressure on our social safety net and generous welfare program. More from ABC's Karen Travers at the White House. And the Trump. Ministration would do that by dramatically changing who gets priority to come into this country. Dangerous Chapman was convicted in nineteen seventy seven of sexually assaulting young boys from the Lawrence area, and he does remain jail, though, on twenty five thousand dollars bail for allegedly exposing himself to prison staff last year. Attorney Wendy, Murphy, does not agree with the S jaycees ruling was continuing to offend not only after being declared no longer sexually dangerous, but after being charged with new crimes. On the verge of being released is still sending, you know, that's the very essence of a person to dangerous to be released if you ask me. So I think that's the biggest problem with yesterday's ruling. The high court rejected arguments from the state attorney general who said it should be up to juries or judge to decide whether the mental health professionals got it right. The states cannabis control commission, meeting today on the horizon, there could be a pilot program for public locations where people could legally use marijuana smoking pot is legal in Massachusetts. "West wind chill. Temperatures are reaching minus sixty degrees the coldest ever recorded in coming days expected again, even colder people can't last outside even for minutes. What the hell is going on when global warming, please come back fast. We need you. He's taunting them. He's taunting them. And they're gonna hate his guts for this. They're not going to see the humor in that. Does what Trump is basically saying is how the hell can there be any global warming? When we're going to have a record low temperatures and wind chills for two days in a row in the upper midwest of America, it's going to be colder at the North Pole. Temperatures have not been this low in these areas of the country for twenty years, you go back twenty years, and you can find an environmentalist wacko on a Sunday show or on a nighttime cable show telling us that we only got twenty years left to get a handle on global warming twenty years ago. It was warming. It was not climate change. They hadn't created the climate change name. They had create climate change because the warming has stopped sold climate change the catch all and any apparently, abnormal or inclement weather. Now gets thrown in twenty years ago. They're warning us of global warming. And we've only got twenty years to pay her twenty years ago is the last time we had record cold like this. They will also tell you can't you can't conflict two things. You can't take weather temperatures and say it. Has anything to do with climate, except they do the same thing every July and August when it reaches one hundred degrees. They say see see global warming. Like I said yesterday we have a two tier climate system. They get to say, whatever they want indicates that whatever they want to happen to the climate is happening when we use their own techniques against them. They tell us. We can't do that. So this is like Trump's follow plead to the Russians to find Hillary's emails. He's begging for global warming the comeback the horror. You're going to have left is my God. This guy is so he actually once global all my God. It's worse than we thought. We thought he didn't believe it. But now he believes it, and he's warning more of it. And you don't be surprised. If there are reactions just like that in certain areas of the country are Hillary's out there, destroying incriminating emails, Trump, mocks her and addressed the crime and a clever way.

"Sixty degrees and sunshine Thursday. County voters have been flagged by the Texas secretary of state for a citizenship test Charlie we've talked at length about this yesterday. The secretary of state's report that there are ninety five thousand registered voters in Texas whose citizenship is uncertain and how fifty eight thousand of these individuals have cast ballots in elections across Texas at some point at least once between two thousand eight and two thousand eighteen we now have the numbers for bear county officials tell us that fifty one hundred of these individuals who have cast ballots in elections over the past ten years are in bear county, and they have citizenship status, which is at least questionable. The secretary of state is encouraging bear county officials to investigate further whether or not these people were in fact, citizens when they cast ballots, and whether or not they are citizens today if they remain on the roles and county judge Nelson wealth says that investigation is underway. What happened was that? These are a total of ninety five thousand individuals who were not US citizens and stated as such when they received the documentation that's required to comply with the Texas voter ID law like, for example, when they got their first driver's license in Texas and these records, go all the way back to nineteen ninety-five. These individuals were not citizens at the time. They were legally in the state because if you're here illegally, you can't legally obtain a driver's license, but they were legally in the state probably on either work or student visas when they got their driver's license at end at some point between two thousand eight to two thousand eighteen they used that driver's license or an extended version of that driver's license to show poll workers their photo ID to comply with the voter ID law. Now, what we pointed out yesterday, and what bear county judge Nelson, Wolff and local election officials are pointing out is this does not mean that fifty one hundred people in bear county voted illegally. Which is the impression a lot of people are getting as a matter of fact, even President Trump responded to this report by the secretary of state saying that quote, voter fraud is rampant what this means is that at the time they got their driver's license. They were not citizens fifty thousand people are naturalized every year in Texas. And if we go back to nineteen Ninety-six, you can do the math the number of people who have been naturalized and of become US citizens going through the legal process since nineteen ninety-five is definitely in the hundreds of thousands of individuals. The general feeling is that most of these people who voted were people who were once not citizens, but who became citizens between that point and the time that they cast ballots, but the secretary of state just wants to make sure as does bear county judge that the franchise is restricted to US citizens, which should be. There is no indication that large numbers of illegal immigrants. Or non-citizens are voting in bear county elections, but we do have the names now fifty one hundred people who at one point we're not citizens at sense vote. So now, we need to put two and two together. And the expectation is and most of those cases we will come up with four and find out that these people did not cast ballots until after they became citizens. This is an effort by the secretary of state's office, and it was really prompted by some of the chaos that followed hurricane Harvey to get to the bottom of exactly who is on the voter rolls. Are these people legal are these people illegal are people voting properly, generally? And now, the ACLU and other civil rights groups are concerned. They don't want a mass purge of these individuals because on the other hand, they say that if you are a US citizen, you have a right to vote, regardless of how you became a citizen, and they're afraid that the state is now going to go too far and do what they've done in Georgia and other states and purge the voting rolls. All right..

"Upper sixty someplace may have seventy degrees. Hey, by the way, let's show you the highs here on Monday and check it out here in the city. We had a high temperature is sixty degrees in miss. Stephanie Mead call for high of sixty ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Nailed it right there. Steph, sixty degrees. Good. We always give Blaine blow. And so I said why we hit it? Here. We got Pat Stephanie on the back and say great job, sixty degrees. Sixty two and sixty below outside right now. Really nice morning out there some clouds high clouds forty two the where's your not bad right now? East southeast wind coming about five miles an hour. But that'd be increasing. As the day goes by south winds coming in. This is my nine o'clock ten fifteen twenty miles an hour. We may see south wind gusting thirty thirty five miles an hour times during this afternoon, but they is from the south. And that's a good direction is even warmer air will spread ends today. That's by one o'clock, sixty three o'clock sixty five by five o'clock. Our temperatures sixty six degrees highs this afternoon. Checkout around tear Bedford seventy sixty nine Bloomington, sixty six and sixty eight that comes in from Shelby the forecast, high sixty six degrees in by. Golly. That is above normal for a change. The advertise sixty the record eighty two now also back in one thousand nine hundred fifty there's our Sally picture. High clouds rolling in across the area, coal run. Back out across parts of Minnesota some light to monitor showers now a lot of moisture with a front yet. But boy believe me that is going to change. So we'll start future cast here noontime. Absolutely looks great outside cut the grass, maybe rake the lease by seven o'clock, rain, showers popping up back out across parts of Illinois. And I think after midnight tonight here we'll have that chance of rain showers coming in. So it's going to be a pretty mild breezy evening. Six pm sixty five ten o'clock sixty one after midnight tonight here we'll have that chance of rain showers coming in. So it's going to be a pretty mild breezy evening. Six pm sixty five ten o'clock sixty one midnight champs you right around sixty three degrees. And there is a flood watch out the starting this evening through there could be a break in the rain, especially up north. I think from in the southward I'm gonna keep that rain chance going through tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow evening. So I would plan on kind of what Halloween evening across the southern half. The state some rain showers around and championships here will be dropping through the fifties during tomorrow evening, temperatures, cool, but really not too bad more concerned about the rain during Thursday wave pressure's gonna write a pulling a frontal zone. So Thursday looks like another very wet day out there. Nothing severe. But some of the rain may be on the heavy side. There is my seven o'clock Thursday evening in for maybe southward two to three inches, maybe more of rain possible. And that's why the weather service does have that flood watch out for the southern county series. Starting this evening right on through Friday, morning, Chapman, heating, cooling and plumbing. Eight day forty s rain tomorrow rain on Thursday and.

"Cold this morning, you mentioned colder temperatures tomorrow. Absolutely. Yeah. We already have a freeze warning and a frost advisory in effect. If you remember yesterday morning, very similar territory. So scraper ready to go also have a heavy jacket as well for this morning. It is chilly temps in the upper thirties, lower forties. So not nearly as called but will experience tomorrow, but still it is a bit uncomfortable as you're heading out the door. Forty four degrees up in Lafayette. It is quiet and clear not much factoring into your morning drive this morning, just those colder temperatures, so where grabbed the jacket as you're heading out the door this morning. West Lafayette is quiet for now. Everybody either close to that forty degree Mark or in the forties right now. Forty three up in Kokomo forty and Lafayette thirty nine closer to downtown. And then thirty seven in Shelbyville to start off your morning temperatures throughout the day today, eventually rising all we see is sunshine galore. So gorgeous day on tap for us, mostly sunny skies for your lunch. Hour nearing fifty degrees. With a bit of a breeze out of the northwest upwards of around fifteen miles per hour. Right now, storm tracker is quiet. We don't have much in the way of cloud cover either precipitation, really not a factor over the. The next twenty four to forty eight hours for here. State wise, we are looking at temperatures returning to the mid fifties. A few of us could even Dickel that sixty degree Mark. So a little bit warmer south of us at sixty degrees for today fifty nine in Columbus and fifty seven for folks in Shelbyville pace game later on tonight. I highly recommend bringing a jacket with you grizzlies and Pacers start at seven o'clock it will be in the lower fifties. Once you're heading into bankers life. Fieldhouse temperatures are going to are going to eventually cool off into the fifties. Once we had into the later portion of this afternoon, we do have a freeze warning in effect for areas from Indianapolis and points northward, and then areas south of us are looking at a frost advisory just south of the city. So keep that in mind this morning for tomorrow temps in the thirties to start off the morning, and then eventually rising into the fifties during the afternoon see a lot of sunshine during the day with temperatures shower in the mid separate forties lower. Fifties. We climb to the mid fifties. Once again to end off. Workweek? So we have our temperatures stuck in the mid fifty s and that's below are seasonal high. We should be in the middle sixties for this time of year. Once we ended up Friday. That's when we start to see a few changes there with mostly cloudy skies blanketing the area during the early half of the afternoon closer to eleven o'clock in midnights, and we see that isolated shower chance it'll be very isolated in nature. Not everybody will pick up on rain showers. Once we head into Friday, fifty four degrees. And then eventually colder air will begin to move in Saturday in the mid fifties. And we get some colder air come Sunday with highs topping out at fifty one eventually warming to almost near sixty to start off your workweek next week for this weekend. It is looking cooler than normal fifty five Saturday nice lead shower during the day possibles not going to be a washout of day. And then by Sunday there is that possibility of seeing isolated rain shower mixing in with a few flurries there fifty one degrees during the afternoon, and then we'll gradually start to see a bit more sunshine to end of the day on Sunday, seven heating and cooling day forecast. Monday temperatures in the upper fifties, we will eventually warm. To almost near sixty for a lot of folks to start off the workweek next week, Tuesday, mostly sunny skies and temperatures warming once again to the upper fifties. And then fifty six degrees, come one stay with mostly sunny skies. We've and I stretch of dry and quiet weather before we see our next chance of an isolated rain shower come Friday and the colts game on Sunday could be welcomed in with Chile conditions as well. So keep that in mind if you have any plans to head out to the game later on Sunday afternoon as we look at it on.
