Aunt Retells the Tragic Story of J6 Defendant Matthew Perna

"Rest of your holiday weekend and please enjoy the show. Well if you listen to my show before I don't know if you just tuned in or when you tuned in but I was telling a story about these new January 6 videos which now clearly tell an entirely different side of the story I said a lot of stuff happened on that day we've talked about it candidly fairly on this show for a very long time what bothers me is the left was looking to hide an entirely different side of what happened that day not us it was them doing because they don't want you to see the entire story they want you to see what just died and one of the stories is about a really tragic case of a gentleman named Matthew Perna and here to discuss that is a good friend and a real warrior his aunt Jerry thanks a lot for taking the time we really appreciate you coming on today thank you for having me on well we met through police tapes this movie we did and I remember seeing you on the Dinesh had sent me kind of a screener rough cut of the movie and I'm watching you talk about Matthew and what happened to Matthew and my wife I looked over and she couldn't take it neither could I it was such a horrible story if you could tell the audience what happened with Matthew let's and yeah just just tell them what happened your your version of it is really kind of tough to listen to but everyone needs to hear it well Matt went to the Capitol on January 6th he thought going he to was be part of a celebration that day the crowd was big and he got you know into the crowd and it was announced that Mike Pence had certified the election results it wasn't exactly what what he had planned and as the crowd moved forward they went to the Capitol and he was in a huge crowd of people people and he did go in he went inside a door that had been previously opened he walked around inside the building filming from his phone and he walked out he went back to his hotel he made a live Facebook video talking about the day the video is still visible on our website he was very calm and cool just talking about the day and he he made a comment that he said Mike Pence proved himself to be a traitor today and he said but don't worry don't worry this isn't over yet and that was basically the way he said it and about a week or so later I'm sitting on my couch in Florida maps up in Pennsylvania and I saw a post Facebook that said the FBI had posted pictures of people from January 6 so I clicked on the link and I was scrolling through the photos and lo and behold there's Matt's picture and I was speechless I didn't know what to do so I called one of my brothers up in Pennsylvania and I said you need to go to Matt's house first thing in the morning his picture is on the FBI website so six o 'clock in the morning warning my brother shows up at Matt's house and Matt already knew that his picture was there and he and he had contacted a retired police officer and asked him what he should do he told him to call the local office saw the FBI in Newcastle Pennsylvania so at nine o 'clock in the morning that's exactly what Matt did and Matt seriously thought this was all a huge misunderstanding he just needed to explain that he didn't hurt anybody he didn't break anything and he thought this would be resolved and so the FBI came out to talk to him and I had a couple of my brothers there present as witnesses and they listened to Matt's story and they made it seem like yeah I was just a misunderstanding and they left and Matt called me and I said you know I don't like the sound of this I said I'm coming home so I a got on plane and I flew home that week and I said we need to get you a lawyer and we did we got him a lo lawyer and and behold the FBI showed up and arrested Matt that week while I was there and they took him in and they processed him and they may let him go he was not placed in custody he was told he had to report to somebody if he were to leave the was charged with four misdemeanors the regular ones the rating disorderly and conduct and we met with his attorney his attorney said oh this is nothing this is just a slap on the wrist you've never been arrested for anything before don't worry about it I've got this well then they slapped 220 of the J sixers with the felony charge of obstruction of an official proceeding and that's when it got serious but his attorney was still saying don't worry this is this is nothing so somebody sent me video that they had of matt outside of the capitol at 2 55 in the afternoon and I says well that's almost 45 minutes after congress adjourned you hadn't even gone inside yet he said no so I thought well there's your evidence right there it's right there on video you didn't go inside you didn't obstruct anything so I sent it to his attorney and his attorney said it nope doesn't matter they said he was there so it was an obstruction and and that video isn't going to help so this was a start of a nightmare a nightmare watching matt worry and deteriorate because the newspaper facebook social media everybody was brutal they were showing the video from january six that everybody has seen countless times and calling it an insurrection and matt's community turned against him his business which he ran through social media was taken away from him all of the accounts were he disabled and didn't want to leave his house anymore and he would have meetings with his attorney that were you would have to go into the attorney's office and they would meet with the judge via zoom because of the whole covid mess and they would cancel those meetings at the very last minute every and postpone them and it would just wear on him because he would prepare himself mentally what he was going to say and they would say up it's been canceled and this went on for quite some time and um that was deteriorating something awful he no longer ran he was a runner he gave away his television because he couldn't stand to see the news anymore with his picture on his dad was who is my oldest brother has parkinson's disease and it was affecting him something awful and matt felt very guilty about the effect it had on his dad and as the year was coming to a close it was almost christmas matt had lost a ton of wait he was vomiting blood at this point and he told his attorney just i just need this to be over what's the best way for this to be over his attorney said plead guilty you're looking at six to twelve months in a federal prison camp minimum security and matt says okay what then i'll that's do and matt was going to he told me i'll turn it into a positive he said i'll teach my fellow inmates help them get their geds i'll work on another degree for myself at the time matt was very intelligent and very giving so that was settled and the hearing was scheduled for march the third and a week before the hearing matt called his attorney and he said i just have a bad feeling it's just a counseling came over me so that's the day my mother died march the third his attorney says well matt i have bad case they've postponed your your hearing again to april fool's day and the prosecution is looking to add a sentencing enhancement of terrorism and this could have taken matt's sentence to nine years in jail matt called me on the phone sobbing that day uncontrollably sobbing sobbing i could not hardly understand him he kept telling me he he loved me kept apologizing to me for losing all of my friends because i lost every friend i almost almost everyone i ever had over this and i told him don't worry we're going to get through this together don't worry god's not going to let you go to jail i promise you this and he told me he loved me i told him i loved

I'm Rohan Nagani, joined today by the former host of the Open Floor Podcast. He's a senior staff writer at the ringer, Michael, the pod, Pina, Mike, how's it going? I am doing terrific, Rohan. How are you? Pretty good. Um, you know, just trying to suss out what you got going on in the background there. Mike's got a blurred background for the first time in the history of all our podcasts. Um, I can only imagine what you're hiding. I explained this to you before we started recording. I did not make my bed. It's a messy bed in the background. That's the only reason I didn't want to keep you, you know, waiting before we started recording. I know you're a busy guy. You woke up immediately before the podcast. Um, all right, Mike, I just want to run through basically as many teams as possible today. I know you're watching as many games as you can, and I want to hit as many teams as we can, but I'm going to just, I'm going to throw them at you in the form of some buyer cells. If that works for you. And we're going to start in the Eastern Conference. Um, just, just, we're going to rip hot right off the jump here. All right, Mike, buy or sell. The Sixers are currently the best team in the East. Like currently? Like today? As of this moment, I'm not talking about record. I'm not talking about any of that. I'm just, just vibes, feels, talent, et cetera. Uh, yeah, I, I'm, I'd have to buy, I, I would have to buy. They're playing great. They just beat the Celtics who technically have a higher net rating, but you know, that game could have gone either way, et cetera. Cut it off. It's a, hey, Kirstaps Porzingis wide open three with five seconds to go. It was also like a 13 point game with two minutes left and it took like a very, I said, I'm buying. I said, I'm buying. But then you immediately started caveating it very quickly. I'm buying, um, I bought it very skeptically. I love, uh, I think Nick Nurse's impact is pretty transparent to anyone who's watched this team play their offense, ball movement, pace, all that sort of stuff. Tyrese Maxey looks really good. One player of the week in the opening week of this year, player of the month, whatever player of the week. I don't even know. Whatever. He's been really awesome, um, averaging just all star numbers and efficient shooting splits and he looks really great. He is him, Luca and Jokic are the only guys I think at like 25, five and five right now are 27 something crazy. It's just those three guys. I got to look up what it is. Didn't know that. That's very impressive.

Coming up, we're gonna have Rob Mahoney talking after the two Thursday night TNT NBA games. We're gonna react to basically everything we've seen for the last three days. Just things that have jumped out to us. And then Peter Schrager is gonna come on and talk about the NFL. Do we have a best team? What are we noticing through seven weeks? What can we expect in week eight that will lead to million dollar picks? And that is today's podcast. Let's bring in our friends from Pearl Jam. Here we go. All right, we're taping this. It's almost 10 o 'clock on Thursday night, Pacific time. Rob Mahoney is here from The Ringer NBA and showing TheRinger .com. We stayed up late because these were two good games. We've had three straight days of very entertaining basketball and we gotta start with the biggest story. Kelly Oubre in the Sixers. What a signing that was, he looks great. No, we just watched LeBron versus the Suns. LeBron's 29 minute limit I think is out the window. He played the whole fourth quarter. And then made the two big head down just going to the basket plays at the end. But biggest thing that's jumped out to you in the last three days is what? Lakers wise or just in general? In general. I think a lot of these teams that we expect to be really good clearly have some assembly required. And the Lakers are one of those teams. I think we saw that from the Bucks and the Sixers tonight too. We're seeing it certainly with the first days of the Victor Webinama experience. Everyone is getting up to speed into their rhythms, trying to understand how all these new pieces fit together. Not revelatory for the opening days of the season to feel that way, but I think even some of the stuff that personally I thought was going to be seamless, like the Giannis, Dame pick and roll, there's some kinks in it that they're going to have to figure out over time. Lakers I thought were the one that surprised me on that one because I thought they were one of the teams that were going to have the advantage coming in. You think about last year's team compared to this year's team. It doesn't seem like Reeves is involved enough either game that, I don't want to say he's an afterthought, but it just felt like he was more in the mix in the playoffs last year. And I liked what Schroeder did for them last year and he was good on Toronto last night and really fit in with what they did. So they're going to have to figure out that Vincent D 'Lo thing. Wood was playing crunch time, which I was really surprised. Did you think we'd be getting this much Christian Wood? I thought that was like a flyer for them. Guarding Kevin Durant on some possessions, wild stuff. But if nothing else, we can trust that when Christian Wood is out there, he will be Christian Wood. In these uncertain times, we can always fall back on that. He certainly had his fair share of like black hole kind of possessions in this game, but he also does play into the Lakers advantages in terms of their length, right? Their size against a team like Phoenix, they're just going to be able to out muscle, get to rebounds, get to balls that they can't get to. So that part of it paid off, I thought in terms of just like having another big out there and certainly the Anthony Davis experiment continues as far as like, do you want more size with him? Do you want to play small with him? There's always that internal question because he seems a little reluctant to do it on a full -time basis, but I'm sure Christian Wood's going to get his shots. I mean, clearly Jackson Hayes is going to get some shots in the rotation to be a meaningful part of the Lakers, the mix there for the Lakers. So I don't know. I think Darvin Ham has a lot of questions to figure out, including the one you listed with Austin Reeves, which is like, who has the ball? Who's initiating for us? Who is involved on a possession to possession basis? Because this game, this was a lot of D 'Angelo Russell, and it was a lot of a better version of D 'Angelo Russell than maybe we saw the other night, but it still feels like a lot. 33 minutes for him tonight. Yeah, Reeves, seven shots, one assist. And I thought all of his usage stuff was going to go up, but it seems like it drifted Russell's way. The other thing I was surprised, I thought Rui was going to be a bigger part of this team. I only played 12 minutes, but I haven't changed my thought on them. They're just such a big, problematic team. And if you're the Suns and you're feeling good after that Warriors game, right? And the Warriors, no Draymond, they were able to overpower them a little on the boards. The two centers had 22. And then tonight you see the flip side of the use of Nurkic experience, where it's like, you're getting zero room protection and you're getting somebody who's just going to be confused anytime somebody is coming off a pick. Basically Lebron at the end of the game just said, I'm going to go attack that guy. Yeah, I'm going to go attack that guy right there. Durant was better tonight, at least for the first three quarters that he looked on Tuesday night. It was really cool just seeing those guys on a basketball court after all these years. As I get older, I'm older than you, but just think like, man, this goes way back now. We're talking mid 2000s was the first time these two guys played basketball against each other and it's still going on. So that was in a cool way kind of lingering over this game. I was enjoying that one. How do you think Durant looks in terms of being a 35 year old guy who they gave up three first rounders and two swaps and Mikhail Bridges and Cam Johnson for? It feels like a slightly loaded question. Yeah. He's looked good. And certainly as you said, the first three quarters of this game looked more than good enough. I think the problem was just like this version of the Suns like felt very James Harden is hurt and Kyrie Irving won't get the shot. Nets, you know, just like Kevin Durant and a bunch of like - I blocked that net out of my mind. I think a lot of us have tried to, but you know, him with a lot of like serviceable workaday role players can get you so far. But as you saw on this one, against a really good defensive team like the Lakers in the fourth quarter, they can just shut the water off. And this is where, you know, I'm nervous about the Suns for a variety of reasons. I think if it was just the defense or just the depth or just the injury risk of their core guys, I would feel better. But it's all of the above all the time. And that's going to put Durant in some games like this one. It's going to put Yusef Nurkic in positions like this one where all of a sudden he's triggering your offense because you don't really have a default point guard out there. And sometimes the value of having a point guard in your rotation, I don't think it's really going to matter when Beal and Booker and Durant are playing together. Those guys can all handle and play make and do everything they need to do. But in a game like this, where two of those guys are out, sometimes it helps to just be able to run some offense that doesn't have to involve Kevin Durant pounding the rock through pick and roll. Yeah, 28 shots for him today. 13 including, and then 13 free throws. He played 39 minutes and was also playing the five in stretches. And this is game two. They had to basically try to unlock 2007 Texas Longhorns Durant. That's the last guy I want to be throwing miles on, maybe in the entire league other than LeBron. Cause he's, you know. That's going to be true for Booker and Beal too, right? Like when any of these guys are out, those three, whoever's left is going to have to play huge minutes or else you get into Grayson Allen and Drew Eubanks are playing like a massive role in your rotation. And I like those guys. I like Drew Eubanks. Maybe not like tamper and lose a second round pick like Drew Eubanks, like some teams do, but. I'd lose 50K for him. Maybe not a second round pick. It's a little steep. Yeah. The other game, Milwaukee Philly. So no Harden. I wish there was a way to just mute the entire Harden story of all coverage for it. Anything online, anything on Twitter, all conversations. I just don't want to hear it anymore. And I don't think he has any interest in playing. And I just think, just tell us when he gets traded. Their best chance now, now that the, especially the Clippers last night looked great.

Rob Mahoney Peter Schrager Drew Eubanks Kevin Durant Kelly Oubre Cam Johnson Lebron Yusef Nurkic Schroeder Russell Kyrie Irving 50K Mikhail Bridges Darvin Ham Monday Night Durant Monday Tuesday Night James Harden 39 Minutes

Check out the first episode. It's not that long. It's really well done. And you will definitely 100 % enjoy it. Okay. Let's bring in the cuz. Let's talk some football. Let's talk some wound licking with some bets, some Eagles, all kinds of things. It's all next. First, our friends from Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam! All right. We are taping this. It is 830 Pacific time on Sunday night. Cousin Sal is here as always. He's wearing a nice, fresh Oregon hat that I think you probably bought probably this weekend. You went to visit your son? Smells very new. Yeah, I went to visit my son. I'm not happy with the way my hair looks. And I think the hat's an improvement. So what am I going to do? It looks great. We just watched Dolphins Eagles just now. And at the same time, Rangers Astros was happening. And it really felt like, I don't know, it felt like a great October sports night there. And then Texas blew it open in the end. But next week, we'll have basketball. There will be baseball going on. It'll really feel like October. The Eagles though. So right as I start sending texts to Eagles people in my life wondering what's going on with Hurts and what's going on with this team, and then they just turn it on and they win by 14. It's weird. Eye test wise versus the stats and just looking at the standings and stuff. It's a team that doesn't seem like they have all their shit together. And yet it doesn't matter because they have so much talent. They can just kind of pick and choose. And then all of a sudden they win anyway. I know don't what other team in the NFL is like this. Do you see that too? Yeah, absolutely. And it's a bummer because I think you agree. The Dolphins are, I don't know, favorite team to watch if you have to cut everything else out. Best offense, so much going on, like dynamic, Tyreek Hill, anything. Tua. But when they play a game like this, when they go to Buffalo, they're just going to get beat in the trenches. And like what you said is it doesn't really matter if you're so physical, Philadelphia, offensively or defensively. And like Tua's getting swallowed up in the pocket on third and ones. And where Philadelphia could just run that tush push like it or not, it's going to move the chains every time. So, yeah, it sucks. Yeah. The less flashy team wins. And they happen to be in my favorite team's division. But that's what's going to happen in January. Ten turnovers for Hertz. He had eight off last year. There's times where, you know, like sometimes, and I don't know whether he's protecting his body or what's going on, but he'll kind of duck away from taking hits, which is smart. And then he'll have weird throws. And I texted Solak today during third quarter. I'm like, are we going to find out that Hertz has had like torn rib cartilage since week two or, you know, he doesn't look right sometimes. And then in the fourth quarter, all of a sudden looks great. And I don't really know what to make of it. And I can't get a feel for it. But on top of it, they have this tush push thing that in the big drive of the game, they're able to get two straight fourth and ones on their own side of the field. I know we, you and I have talked about it. You've talked about it incessantly. And at the same time, it feels like it is the most important NFL invention in the last five years, this play that nobody can stop ever at any point. If he does, nobody else can do it. I know it's weird. And we likened it to the Tom Brady thing. There was no reason why Tom Brady should convert fourth and one and a half every single time, you know, physically and everything else. But except they had their shit together, the Eagles, they really do. And if he does have cracked ribs, I hope it's from his own teammate, smashing them over the line of scrimmage there. Yeah, it was just wear and tear on the back of his body from several guys. Yeah. So they're performing the Heimlich on him like every eight minutes. So I guess if you're taking the takeaway from the Eagles is nice when they needed to have it, they're also supposed to win. But the AJ Brown piece of it, the fact that they traded, you know, a first round pick basically, and then they paid him. And I don't know, he's one of the four best receivers in the league now. Is he one of the three? He's somewhere on the shortest possible list. I have him on multiple fantasy teams, and it's gotten to the point where I'm just expecting 100 yards in a TD every game. But that turned out to be one of the better trades, I think, of the last 10 years. Just kind of took him from Tennessee. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that was ridiculous. And he is such a great possession receiver. And it's like, it's scary, too, because you'll forget about him, too. You probably put Justin Jefferson in the top three. And then every time Cousins drops back the pass or any snap, you're like, all right, this has to go to Jefferson. Otherwise, it's going to go for nothing out of this offense. And then eight tush pushes in a row. And then you see AJ Brown's like, oh, my God, I forgot about this guy. What? He's got 120 yards. It's nuts. So, yeah, dynamite. I like, yeah, there's like four different kind of catches he can make, too, which I think makes him stand out because they can throw those bubble screens. They can just put them right over the middle, like for seven, eight yards. It seems like whenever they want, they can send him deep down the sidelines, which he seems to love. And then that kind of deep over the middle with two guys on him and he can make plays anyway. But he he has, like, I think the biggest bag of any of the receivers right now. Yeah, personal. I don't know. I got these guys. Yeah. Yeah. I hate this team. I don't know. I don't even know what to say anymore. Like, you know, the Miami have what, 10 or 11 penalties? It's just like it's a it's like a mind fuck, too, when you play him, too, because you can't get out of a can't get out of your own way when you play against them. Kyle, don't turn on the tick tock camera for this. Has Philly replaced Boston for most interesting sports city? Like, look at all the shit they have going right now. Right. Right. They're they're about to make the World Series. They have this Eagles team that made the Super Bowl last year and it feels super relevant again, is definitely going to be a final 14 worst case scenario. And then they have this NBA team with this James Harden saga that God only knows how he's going to sabotage things over the next month. But and then you look at my team where my city where I have the the you know, we have a great NBA team, it looks like. And then other than that, completely forgettable across the board. I think Philly's kind of grabbed the mantle a little bit. I don't like it. I don't like it right now. That's not good. And it's not good for their fans because their fans are supposed to just hate the other team, not supposed to like their team. So it doesn't matter if their team is good. Right. Yeah, I don't know. It's a bummer. Although I'll say that they were in this position last year, too. Right. Phillies win the World Series. The Eagles win the Super Bowl. This has been this is the 2020s has kind of been the Philly decade. I don't like it. It's upsetting to me. And fortunately, the Sixers are it seems like they're going to go in the tank. But I got to say they have great crowds like the the Phillies playoff crowds are way up there. That's about as good of a baseball crowd as you're going to get. It really feels like if they can have like a do or die game or a must win game or a clincher at home, you feel like they're going to get it. And whatever happened with Bryce, you know, pretty special, like to sign that guy from another team and he becomes the signature athlete in your city. We had a little bit of that with Manny Ramirez, where we kind of took him from. We paid for it, but took him from Cleveland and he kind of became one of the symbols of that run. But pretty nuts that they just took him from another team and he became what he became. Yeah, it's a great crowd whenever they I mean, I thought the Rams crowd today was dynamite, too, against the Steelers. I thought they really showed up. It's really loud. Yeah, yeah, it's been proud to be from L .A. Yeah, I have a I know you don't want to talk about Phillies, so I'll move on. I have a Tyree question for you. What's your all time receiver list for receivers you've watched just where you're like, that guy's fucking amazing? Because for me, it was always Rice number one and Moss two and then a drop off. And then some people like Tio's three for me. I'm like, cool. Tio is like an absolute franchise murderer and was a huge head case and you couldn't trust him. And as the years pass, the stats will be great. All the fucking drama that he brought to every situation he's in, that stuff will kind of die off. But for me, I think Tyreek's unequivocally three now for me. Every single game, it just you just feel like he's going to have 250 yards as you're watching it, right? Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Unstoppable, Tyreek over Calvin Johnson, that type. Yeah, I think like where you would put him. Yeah, I think for me, he's definitely over Calvin Johnson. Michael Gallup is three, four. I'm trying to see where I would put these people. Yeah, I think you're right. I think you're right. I think he's got to be number three. Although if you look at like Antonio Brown, who's now a punch line, he had like six of the best seasons you'll ever see in a row. But but in terms of presence and being unstoppable, Rice, Moss, Tyreek Hill, it's a good three. That's how I feel. I think, you know, Sharp, I think, could have gotten there in the Packers way back when in the 90s. And then, you know, he hurt his neck and he basically only had like a six or seven year career. But I thought in the 90s, I thought other than Rice, he was the second best guy. Your guy, Irvin, was great. There's no question that team was loaded. We've had some good ones over the years, but Tyreek, the speed, how he just tilts the field over and over again, how scared the other team is of him. How much space he opens up for everybody else. I think he's three. I don't think he'll ever get over Moss or Rice for me, though. I'm trying to think who could pass him, though, now at three. I mean, we've put Justin Jefferson up there before. Now that we haven't seen him for a few weeks, we've kind of forgot about him in the right now. But Hill's done this now for, you know, six, what's it, six years since he's on the 18 Chiefs. I can't remember how many years he's been in the league, but yeah, he'll be stride for stride with two defenders. And then, like, if the ball hangs up there long enough, he's now seven, eight yards past them. Oh, I know who's number four. That's a nice little advantage. Pooka. He is? Guys, see that catch he made on the sideline today? It was pretty great. Before the Rams realized they were going against a force greater than any satanic force or anything, the Pittsburgh Steelers. You want to talk about that? Yeah, let's do it. Let's do it. So they're four and two. I've watched every play of all six games. I have no idea how they're four and two, but they've hit the point now where I feel like they're going to win when there's no signs. Like that guy missed the extra point today for the Rams and made it nine, three instead of 10, three. I'm like, oh, here we go. Steelers come down. All of a sudden it's 10, nine. They have five first downs because they get the TJ Watt, you know, the pick that sets up the touchdown. And you're just like, here we go. They're doing this. And we've seen this before because this was the Eli Manning. Danny Heifetz was the first person to point this out. This was the Eli Manning recipe for years and years that I can't believe that team's winning. What the fuck just happened? He only made two throws. How did he do it? They're four and two. I totally believe in them. And I feel like they're going to go 12 and five and have a negative point differential. Well, the good thing is we're making money off them, right? We've been and we saw them. Plus, I mean, I thought they'd be favored last Sunday night. I thought they'd be favored, but they're not. So we're doing that thing, but also just taking them because the Steelers. But I found the gem and I gave it out on ringer wise guys, Rams first half Steelers to win the game 10 to one. You know, I'm positive that their bullshit is going to pay dividends and 10 to one. I think it'll hit like three more times. Like you're right. That TJ Watt interception brings it down to the eight. We see some separation from Pickens on a receipt, like the little one drive you wait for all game and it happens. And then that terrible spot at the end, it didn't give him a chance. That that was beyond really big. McVeigh also probably should have had a timeout left. I know. But, you know, what is it important to be like, hey, listen, we could get this right, but we'd rather teach you a lesson, coach, to save your timeouts. Like, I don't, this, the spot thing bothers me more than missed pass interferences because it's an old man jogging eight yards and he has to see between 20 bodies. And then like, you know, he sticks his foot in the mud and says, here, this is like a surveyor from 1835. He's like, this is where your property in, sir. Like we got to put, there's a chip in the ball. Isn't there a chip in the ball? What's it for? It's funny that we figured out Wimbledon. We figured out we've in U .S. Open, we figured out how to measure serves immediately, whether they hit the line or not in football, which seems like it would be really easy to just have some sort of magnet that was attached to the chains. The other thing that was weird about that for the people who didn't see it, the Steelers did fourth and one, they had the lead. There's probably like a little more than two minutes left and they run the QB sneak play, kind of the Brady play where you, you kind of put your head down, but you go left. But he slipped and fell on his knee and his knee went down. And it wasn't one of those when you're watching it where you're like, oh, I wonder if he got it was like, you knew immediately, oh, he didn't get it. He slipped. And then they come in with the spot and then like, oh, he might have gotten it. And they did that. I couldn't believe it. And I'm rooting for the Steelers. But I was like, oh, my God, it's the worst spot of the year. I thought they deserved to win anyway. But but that was pretty tough for the Rams. We need some clarification. And I get it because McVeigh didn't have timeouts and it wasn't actually the two minute warning yet, even though it did wind to that after that. But is there a ref in the sky? Is there this guy in the sky or is this everything has to go back to New York? Like, I feel like we're told three different things. It's a bummer because that could have been overturned. But you're right. Ten to one we hit. Let's just keep doing it. You know, you know who else would have gotten that fourth one? Eli Manning. He would have fallen down a half foot in front and somehow would have gotten the spot. The Rams kicker was the MVP of this game for the Steelers. He missed two longer field goals. They were like 50 yard field goals, but he missed about them. Then he missed that extra point. And then Tomlin just, you know, he threw away the challenge. He screwed up a challenge, which is the Tomlin staple.

A highlight from Preseason Begins & The Annual GM Survey

"This is the crossover NBA podcast Chris Mannix joined as I always am by Chris Herring and Rohan Nadkarni. Quick housekeeping note fellas the NBA preview issue is out I guess the basketball preview issue because there is a lot of college stuff in there as well but the cover is NBA Jimmy Butler guest editor for this NBA preview issue Rohan you spent some time with Jimmy Butler in parts unknown I assume South Florida did a a story with him it's excellent check that out I've got a piece on the Phoenix Suns spent some time talking to Matt Ishbia James Jones Frank Vogel key pieces of that organization trying to recreate exactly what happened after the season ended how they got this point where they have one of the most expensive teams in NBA history a lot of good stuff there scouting reports different elements as well make sure you pick up the magazine on stands right now. So fellas we've got the NBA GM survey that's out and I want to dive into some of the elements of that but before we start recording this podcast I was just going through social media looking up some clips and all that stuff and I came across one from the Pat Bev pod the Patrick Beverly pod he does with Barstool Sports I just want to play this clip for you because Pat Bev was joined by Michael Rubin the former owner of the Philadelphia 76ers now this still the CEO with fanatics someone who has a strong relationship with a lot of players including James Harden who they discussed in this clip here as a past NBA owner obviously you're close to the Sixers the situation that's going on with James Harden how would you handle it it wouldn't have happened you know first of all James is family to me and like I'm not going to hide about that I love James this thing is breaking my heart this thing was just not handled well he was playing with us in practice and boy he was cooking he was oh I'm talking about the pot was out and he was stirring that bitch up there's nobody who wants to win a championship more than James Harden I know this guy like my brother people give James a hard time because you know he likes to have fun it's bullshit like the guy the guy's work ethic for basketball is insane and his attitude has been great he's been leading he's been giving advice so you might hear all the bad shit you know TV from reporters that's not there but actually being a teammate that's there he's he's been phenomenal I block out the noises really same because I think a lot of people just don't know like the real James Harden how badly he wants to win I think he's in great not good shape he's in great shape yeah he's in great shape right that's right body looks great yeah every time I'm in the weight room he's in the weight room he's gonna ball out this year so herring I know my blood shouldn't boil when I hear stuff like this and I know it you know the podcast is doing its job if it gets me kind of drawn in and talking about it but to hear Michael Rubin say that James Harden wants to win a championship more than anyone at the same time that James Harden is trying to force his way off a championship contender that is a Rubik's Cube of nonsense that I'm really having a hard time wrapping my head around your thoughts on the propaganda emerging from the Pat Bev pod about James Harden I'm just trying to think of a stranger mashup than the one you just explained I mean the the whole universe of Michael Rubin and all the there's so many things lately that just on social media that I've wanted to mute and I don't think I know enough about how to do it I haven't taken the time to do it but if I had a way of muting like Michael that Rubin parties James Harden and any other number of athletes are at or like all these white parties and everything else it's like I would do that but that makes this element of this story this this framing odd because it's like okay well he presumably is friendly with James Harden or James Harden is friendly with him but also the fundamental standpoint now at this point that maybe there are people in the organization that instead of kind of just gloves off which it seemed like it would be based on what James Harden said about Daryl Morey earlier this summer that there's also the very real possibility that maybe he's not traded and so they need him to feel wanted and they need him to feel like they want him to perform well which is what you would want if you're a team that at least there's a you said in one of the last pockets we did it's not out of the realm of possibility that they could be a winner a contender a champion if everything fell right you know the right way so I think that's all this is is just positive reinforcement but I mean it's also silly from the standpoint that you're saying that clearly people that are making trade demands whether it's behind the scenes whether it's publicly whether it's saying my general manager my president is a liar it's hard to hold those two thoughts in the same time in your head that you know on the one hand he can say those things but also nobody wants it more than he does come on like I did I know it's just you know the first thing probably that popped into Ruben's mind but it's just silly Rowan I know you're you're a regular at these white parties but do you have a issue let me just first of all echo my esteemed colleague Chris herrings fatigue with Michael Rubin just this guy's everywhere all the time fanatics sucks I'll say it fanatics is not good wow let's start there I mean like kudos to Michael Rubin you know what he did getting involved with meat mill etc but like we could have left it at that listen I if I were James Harden I might be living my life a similar way I let me put it that way but there is now a what is it a preponderance of evidence that winning a championship is not necessarily number one on this guy's priority list just not only in terms of how he's carried himself this offseason but how he likes to carry himself during the season when he's staying in Miami or Vegas for an extra night I'm away from steam mates are flying separately etc that all that stuff's been reported I'm just I'm sick of the the Sixers offseason I'm sick of the Embiid hard in partnership I respect you Mannix for still holding out hope having faith you've always been kind of an optimist a wanderer a dream I died that's why I don't describe you but I'm just so over this it just well like you said I mean respect to that podcast we're here talking about it I love Pat Bev he's a good personality but like what are we doing here Michael Rubin who are you who are you fooling okay we are familiar with James Harden's game okay you're not fooling us game off the court specifically right like you you can't say James Harden is misunderstood or gets a bad rap when right he he forced his way out of Houston by throwing a multi -week temper tantrum he effectively quit on the Nets which forced them to make a when deal they probably didn't want to and now here he is trying to get out of Philadelphia after holding you know one of the worst holdouts in holdout history to stay away from the team it just the the I mean just trying to get us to believe that is just wild so you know we had to talk about it you know James Harden still officially member of the 76ers we'll see what happens as these preseason games go on and what they do with them but right now James Harden kind of between a rock and a hard place might have to play for Philadelphia this season so I want to talk in this episode about the GM survey which always provides good preseason material whenever it comes out and there were some interesting elements in this year's GM survey guys and I want to start with the championship prediction from the NBA GMs which turned into a two -way tie between the Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets Milwaukee coming into third place 23 % Phoenix 7 % they came in fourth in the LA Clippers finishing at 3 % last year the Bucks were the leader at 43 % Denver doesn't surprise me Denver has the core of that team back we've talked about this before I think they can expect some organic growth from Christian Brown I think Peyton Watson might be able to play they've some other guys on that roster that can take steps up by the way while we're speaking of the Nuggets condolences to Mike Malone's family for the passing of Brendan Malone his father that was revealed by the organization this week but when it comes to Denver on the floor I can see why they'd be a championship contender the Celtics I might be one of the few pessimists I don't know if I'm pessimistic about the South I have more questions about the Celtics than many people do my good friend Scalabrini was on TV recently and he said every GM would want this roster and I tend to agree with that sort of because if you could bubble wrap this roster and guarantee that it plays 65 to 70 games together and will be healthy going into the playoffs I think you're absolutely right I think the backcourt is really strong especially defensively Drew Holliday elite defender Derek White big time defender we know what Jalen Brown Jason Tatum can do you know that that that speaks for itself the front court is good right Chris has Porzingis good player Al Horford good player but Porzingis chronically injured right like he played what 60 -65 games last year but that was a contract year and I have less confidence he's going to be able to repeat that he was already injured this off season with whatever happened with his foot over in the World Cup Al Horford's 37 by design he's probably only going to play like 50 games this year because they want to keep him healthy for the playoffs so we don't know what's what Al Horford is going to look like at the end of this season after that what is there they signed Wennion Gabriel Wennion Gabriel last year played 68 games for the Lakers in the playoffs he played 10 he averaged 3 .7 minutes per game in the playoffs with the Lakers last year that is the definition of playable in the regular season and unplayable in the playoffs like it just is what it is Luke Cornette is still there he was unplayable for Boston in the playoffs last year you know this is a team that was already thin when Grant Williams was there now Grant Williams is gone and I don't know what they do if one of these two guys goes down for any length of time so that's a long way of saying like yeah I can buy the argument that the Celtics are the team to beat Eastern Conference I can buy the argument that they are a championship contender but Rohan I just I have a lot of concerns about what happens if anything goes south in that front court I agree I mean that's why I thought the holiday trade was so fascinating and why I wasn't sure how seriously to take Boston as a contender for holiday even though his name was obviously their name was obviously coming up that entire weekend before he was traded a huge reason why they've been been special the last few years is kind of the alchemy of their front court mix -in matching Horford, Rob Williams, and Grant Williams that's gone entirely I see people saying now Porzingis and Horford might start together this talks about does Derek White come off the bench there's a right that's another thing I don't understand I mean you don't you don't have a backup really for either guy right now why aren't they backing up each other that already is starting to not make a ton of sense for me the way I look at it Mannix is I do think we're starting to see some trickle -down effect of the second apron because you look at the top teams right now whether it's Milwaukee, Boston, Phoenix, Denver to an extent it's not that the championship teams of yesteryear were flawless but we're looking at teams that are especially top heavy these days and Boston doesn't have a lot of avenues to improve the roster same for Milwaukee I mean I think Milwaukee has a great five and uh Holliday, Conaton, Middleton, Giannis, and Lopez but then they have Bobby Portis and they have a bunch of question marks after that they don't have a lot of playoff rotation guys uh Phoenix is in a similar boat Denver I think you and I are probably high on Denver's bench than most people we like what we think Peyton Watkins can do Peyton Watson can do Zeke Najee Swarther had a nice pre -season debut but those are a bunch of question marks for them right now so on one hand I echo your skepticism about Boston only in terms of Horford's coming off the worst postseason of his career um I think on both ends of the floor and he's only getting older Porzingis he's played 10 playoff games in his life but when you match them up against kind of the other contenders unless you think like a team like the Lakers or Warriors who have a little bit more depth maybe not quite as much top and talent uh can make a push I understand why you'd put Boston there only because I think a lot of the contenders are really top heavy right now well I mean but the the front court like to get out of the Eastern Conference you gotta get through Milwaukee and Milwaukee's front court is still really strong they still have all the pieces that were in place they still got Giannis still got Brook Lopez still got Bobby Portis they've still got all the guys that have the potential to give Boston a lot of problems and I go back a couple of years and the Celtics back when they had Rob Williams and they had Grant Williams they were in the mix for Yaka Purdle when San Antonio was trying to deal him they wanted to get Purdle they didn't want to get two first -round draft picks back then but they knew back then when they had you know three you know strong front court guys that they needed one more to get through Milwaukee that was when they made the deal for Mike Mascala and he turned out to be unplayable in the playoffs as well so I have concerns about Boston's front court anything about the predictions hearing concern you or you know stand out to you whether it's the Celtics or somebody else I mean I can admit to the same thing you guys are saying that I was surprised that Boston was tied for first for just you know the team that GM's thought was the most likely to win the whole thing it's really hard for me to look at this roster without wincing just a little bit we all can acknowledge that there's a lot of top and talent in this team there was before the moves they made this summer there is now the Porzingis fit is interesting I think everybody can look at that and say wow that if this works out they can win a title obviously no one's denying that it's just to have him and Horford as your two centers and then Wendy and Gabriel who I really like but I don't think of as necessarily my second or third string center or you know if he's even a center he's like six nine or whatever he is so that's all it's just you know and look I've been critical of the Celtics from the standpoint of you're trading away a lot to get Porzingis if only you're talking about Marcus Smart from the standpoint of you know a backbone a heart and soul obviously a very versatile important defender within that cog that they have defensively so they go get Drew Holliday and I think it does kind of answer a lot of those questions a lot of those criticisms but I just I still wonder a little bit of if now you're doing that and in doing that you give away Robert Williams if it makes you thinner at the spot that I was most concerned about now you know it's center even when they had those three it was kind of a weird hodgepodge of guys that you're not for any reason you're not gonna feel comfortable about whether they can hold up and be healthy the whole year also stylistically if you're missing one of guys it changes the way your offense looks because two of them are guys that can shoot from three one is a guy that's kind of more around the rim and setting screens and stuff like that so anyway I was just a little bit surprised that as we're all acknowledging the potential thinness of this group that they would be a co -favorite here I think the Nuggets still deserve to be the favorite and I personally would probably take the Bucks over the Celtics as a favorite but but all that said you know I don't think there's a runaway team here after the Nuggets I would probably leave them at number one because there was a lot of other stuff that happened between the depth of the Lakers the top end stuff of the Celtics the top end stuff of the Bucks to me when I see that much stuff happening I'm just going to defer to the team that won last year that granted they did lose some things but they have the potential to get better with more continuity of the top end guys that they have that haven't been healthy up until last year so I would you know I was a little bit surprised to see that Boston pulled into a tie with Denver among the GMs well we as we know the Boston media mafia is working over time in these kinds of situations I'm kidding I know it was the GM survey one thing I want to throw out there is in a in kind of a funny twist like the Celtics have had the best Joel Embiid defender over the years in Al Horford and Horford was giving Embiid problems in the semis last year to the point where Tucker had to get in his face and be like bro you need to take this matchup but what does Boston do now in that matchup because if you're playing Horford against Embiid does that mean you're playing Porzingis and Horford together and which of your guards are you keeping off the floor does that mean you keep Derek White off the floor it's kind of an interesting problem they've created for themselves unless they're willing to live with Porzingis on Embiid but that kind of takes away one of the biggest strengths they've had in that matchup over the years yeah is it going to be a challenge for them because Horford has been excellent I mean Embiid he gives him so many problems he clearly has the timing down on Embiid like he does he knows yeah it's fat it's fantastic to watch he pushes him off his spots he's he's just got a lot of you know and maybe some of it's mental too like Embiid's seen him so many times over the years that it's like all right well Al Horford again and you know he's asked about every single postseason he's had great games against Horford don't get me wrong he's played really well at times but it is I have a little surprise guys that the team nobody's really in on the Suns yet seven percent seem a little low for me you know man look I understand maybe Herring you got to give this team time to figure itself out and see if these guys can play together and see if this mix of players can work but you know if that team gets the playoffs fully healthy hard to stop very hard to stop in the postseason no no question I mean you know I watched clips I watched bits of the the game that they played against the Pistons and granted it's the Pistons you know one of the youngest teams in the league but to watch the Suns who you know have just started playing together that you know have 80 points between the first and the third quarter of a road game road opener for preseason there's obviously a lot of potential there offensively I would say that as we talk the things we like and dislike about teams the thinness the depth of these rosters I'm a little bit surprised that the Suns haven't done a little bit more to go out and get a a bonafide point guard I think it's a big granted you have a lot of ball handling on that roster it's not to say you don't and top level guys that can do it but it's a big change to go from having Chris Paul be your point guard and even to have campaign be your backup point guard to then going and just saying we're you know we're going to kind of take the Clippers route to have our forwards handle the ball to have Devin Booker handle the ball again all guys that can do it but these are also guys that you like to just kind of throw in iso situations you don't want to wear them down the whole season of having them handle the ball so I they've added depth and I think they need that they obviously needed it last offseason or I'm sorry last postseason and so they've done well to add to that but I think that they still it would do them well to have even if it's you know I look at something like what the Bulls did they went and got Javon Carter someone that played for the Suns at one point the sort of guy that could really be helpful to this team I also wonder just a little bit just a little and I think I saw some of this in their first preseason game as well Yusuf Nurkic is an interesting fit I think he can do good things for them he's good you know as a playmaker here and there defensively I worry just a little bit about him of how big it seemed like he took in Portland and you know for all the problems Ayton has at times I wonder if he's more nimble defensively and would work better defensively with that team but we'll see we'll see what happens I think that the Suns absolutely could win it they absolutely have the talent and skill to do it I think they have you know a coach that I really like one of my favorites in league and Vogel but I definitely have some questions about them which is why again would still take Denver head and shoulders above everybody else for now I actually am a little bit surprised the Lakers didn't get more picks here as well in this in the survey I maybe would have liked the Suns more before the Nurkic trade I'm just I'm replaying that Denver series in my head and while Landry Shammet was getting a ton of open threes and theoretically that could be Bradley now I mean I look at them as even worse or you know more poorly equipped to slow down the Nuggets than they were last year and while we're on the subject of health I mean Durant you know he missed some time obviously he came back right before the start of the playoffs and looked great at times and I think bookers only continue to improve but I mean there's a health there's a health question mark hanging over them you know as long as Durant is there and I I need to see it I mean there's definitely some exciting moments just watching kind of Beale Booker and Durant take their turns in that preseason game and it's like oh man like they have three guys who can go just iso and get a score seemingly anytime they want but and I'm I'm warming to the Nurkic move more than when it first happened but I really need to see that defense in action for a little while before I can take them seriously as a title contender yeah I think you guys just articulated why they only got seven percent of the vote there's a lot of question marks out there about them until we see them actually come together and play all right we had Nicole Jokic picked up first place in two different categories and I want to talk about both of them first was the player most likely to win the 2023 -24 MVP he got 43 percent of the vote in that category Yanis at number two at 20 percent and then if you were starting a franchise today and could sign any player who would it be he got 33 percent of the vote in in that category Victor Webayama coming in second with 23 percent on the subject of MVP guys let's start there 43 percent of the vote I'm actually shocked it wasn't higher like I thought it would be like 70 percent because not look first he's 28 years old he's in his prime he's durable he's just won a championship he was you know the best player on the best team in the NBA there's no reason to believe he's not going to come in next year and put up comparable or this year put up comparable numbers and I do think that the people that were divided on Nicole Jokic last year are not going to be divided this year the people that were skeptics about his ability to win and use that against him when it came to MVP voting and use that as a reason to vote for Joel Embiid those people aren't going to exist or that feeling isn't going to exist if Nicole Jokic puts up MVP numbers on the guy on the team that is at or near the top of the western conference there is no doubt in my mind Julie Kelly: Ray Epps Should've Have Faced Multiple Charges, Felonies

"It is highly unusual Dan and as soon as that information so an information is the misdemeanor version of an indictment that's a criminal indictment that has felonies this has a single misdemeanor count Went back quickly to the DOJ's January 6 website. I pulled up as many Could with a single count Dan roughly 15 out of more than a thousand now Now cases really 1 ,100 defendants only about 15 have a single misdemeanor charge It is a single count of When you dig even further this is so highly Unusual that ray Epps was not apparently not arrested that this information was filed against And he's already pleading guilty today. I I can find no comparison in the Almost three -year criminal investigation into January 6 where this ray Epps matter has A comparison there just simply isn't one. So we don't there's no there's no statement of facts. There's no affidavit which is contained in nearly every single case, so we don't even have The details about what DOJ Matthew Graves's office is basing this single misdemeanor count on But they didn't stop the corporate media Adam Kinzinger and others from jumping again to ray This is a defense when we have like I said all this video evidence look Dan he should be if we We were applying the law equally. He should have been charged with multiple offenses including felony Obstruction of an official proceeding which has been slapped against more than 300 January Sixers And Trump President he was at the first breach point the second breach point. He was in a restricted area For for over an hour and a half. He was interfering with law enforcement.

A highlight from Conor Picks A New Favorite Team

"I don't know if I like that. I I like as a coach like an outlier in appearance like a Like someone who's either very old Not in great shape Like looks battle -hardened. There's something to that for me because Well Vic Fangio is Mike McDaniel's defensive coordinator Now Vic Fangio is still the head coach of the Broncos we'd have and Vic and I are from Scranton That would have been a very well Vic is from Dunmore I'm from Scranton. Let me because he'll correct you when you say that but That would have been an obvious one, but you get rid of Vic Fangio you get rid of me as a franchise So but Vikings are good But again, it's like I like So what I like about them So the wholesome part like Kirk Cousins has got that covered but on top of that, right like I do think like the way they treated their plate like one thing that was very noticeable to me was the way they handled all their outgoing players this year and If you go back and you look like Dalvin cook Patrick Peterson Eric Kendricks All these got Adam feel and all these got Dalvin cook all these guys they offloaded None of them have anything bad to say about the Vikings because of the way they handle those guys on the way out And then what you have remaining? Is maybe the most exciting young player in the game and Justin Jefferson, right? Proximity, New Jersey, that's an easy flight. It's a Delta hub So you have like you can get there really really easily and probably like an hour and a half two hours I feel like the young core there is good. They're very Forward thinking with quasi Adolfo Mensa is their GM who's kind of like a good merger between analytics and scouting. I Think there's a lot there I mean I just think that and I don't think that they're at the level of like the Bears or the Giants where it's like Alright, like that's a hit. That's a team that like has Like it's hard to just join that established fan base You know what? I mean? Like I feel like they're like maybe a notch below that and they're Minnesota nice. They would let me in My problem is I feel like as my kids get older. I need the head coach to be Older than me because like I think Kevin O 'Connell and I are pretty close to the same age We're in the same NFL locker room together when I was a young beat reporter and he was I covered him to Quarterback. Yeah, it's so I think like I would imagine like maybe one day my kids being like Oh the head coach of the Vikings is 40. Why aren't you doing anything? Cool dad? You're you're 40 so that's just something that's kind of the back of my radar, but I do I I Do support moving the Vikings up? to to a hot team Potentially and I do like I like that They're a little earlier in the cycle because it would be a little strange to I think the Jaguars are a very appealing pick It would be strange to become a Jaguars fan and then for the rest of your life people say Oh, how'd you become a Jaguars fan? And you say well, it was Trevor Lawrence's third season They had already proven they could win a playoff game and I said now's a good time for me to hop on the Jacksonville bandwagon Jacksonville just feels like I don't know. It's like too obvious too obvious That's how I feel about Detroit too, which is in this category. We haven't even talked about. Yeah. Yeah No, I'm with you Detroit's too obvious and part of this is gonna be You know, I want a fan base that handles success. Well, I think on this list a lot of teams that got punished Are teams whose fans when they achieve sudden success? Just collectively become like the largest group of douchebags on the planet and is that how you feel about Eagles fans? People would describe Patriots What I like about Eagles fans, I will say this you're getting dangerously close to early Bill Simmons era Boston and A Boston Red Sox Boston Celtics where you're making it a lot about you and I think you are over rating The struggle that's what I would say and it's there's a very theatrical Element to all that we had to go through in the empty stadiums at the link and oh The fellowship what we called it up here was right before they like the championships started here They called it the fellowship of the miserable up here But it's theater, right? It's acting some of it is Yeah, I mean like the whole like going to your you know Great -grandfather's grave site the day after the Red Sox won the World Series. There was definitely some of that Okay, I can see that to one up that I will say the morning of the Super Bowl this past year I saw videos from Philly where people were at their grandparents grave sites tailgating And they had run like they were tailgating with their dead relatives I remember walking into the stadium in Arizona being sent these videos Wait a minute Can you imagine like driving by a cemetery and seeing like an RV parked in the middle of it and just like a half dozen people hanging out But that's also part of why I'm weary about Philly like there's always there's already this established fan Subculture and then to be able to fit in I would have to be so extra beyond what I am now And so I think that there's a little bit of pressure there to be there's a high barrier to entry to be a fanatical Eagles fan I think yeah, I also think Philly is a very strong 4 -4 kind of city and I know there are others on the list I'm not saying that's exclusive to Philly But I think it it is Particular there where it's like the diehard Eagles fans are tend to be also diehard Sixers Phillies fans It's not an easy city to sort of pick and choose one team a la carte and have other interests It feels like everyone's very much dialed into all of the teams I know there are other four for four cities people probably listening to the saying or cities like that, too But it feels it feels like some very passionate fans as I know and I think it would be a tough place to just sort Of hop in as just an Eagles fan it would it would anybody else have a candidate to bump up from maybe teams So we're moving the Vikings up right moving the Vikings up Okay, I'm gonna have to you know, the Kevin O 'Connell thing is a me issue.

"The Celtics have earned the right to host a game 7 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals by defeating the 76ers 95 86. Jason Tatum was zero for 6 from three point range before hitting two straight late in the game. The first pudding Boston had 84 83. Besides not falling and things just not necessarily going your way and you want it, you want it so bad. But trying to stay present is trying to stay in the moment, try and do other things. They took it to us. When they were at home for two games, so we wanted to come home and match that same energy in, you know? We did a really good job. The Panthers have a three games to none lead over Toronto. Sam Reinhardt came through with the overtime goal as Florida prevailed three to two, and the kraken went up two games to one by pounding Dallas 7 to two. "A piece for it. I'm Bruce Morton. Saturday NBA playoff action began with Philadelphia minus big man Joel embiid winning at Brooklyn 96 88 to complete a sweep of the nets forward Tobias Harris says all season, the sixers have dealt with adversity, which enabled them to complete this sweep. Our record on the road as well in different guys in and out of the lineup from time to time and being able to just find a way to get victory. In Los Angeles, the suns moved out to a three games to one lead by topping the clippers one 12 to 100. Chris Paul scored 19 points, 12 of them in the fourth quarter. I tried to get myself going defensively. And so the shots, they gonna come. We practice all day long. We practice for those situations. And so when they come, you know, you live with the results. Miami made the best of Milwaukee missing the injured Yanis onta compo to beat the bucks one 21 to 99 good for a two one lead. And the linkers let all the way defeating Memphis one 11 one O one also good for a two one advantage. Baseball Tampa Bay is an MLB best 18 and three after getting past the White Sox four three. Elsewhere in the American League yeast, the Yankees walked off the Blue Jays three two. New York shortstop Anthony volpe says winning these intra division games is key. Anytime you have a really good division opponent like that and we play them as much as we do coming up, we really want to take these games. "Little bit of I have a little bit of a that's not a reason, sir. No, let me finish. Let me let you finish, sorry. Yes, so thanks, Kanye. So great. I have a little bit of a bias in just in terms of I've been watching a lot of pistons games over the past few weeks. It's been an incredible question. I know the efficiency does not stack up. Right. He leads all rookies in scoring. He's second, I believe, in assists behind giddy, he's like third in rebounds per game among rookies. And I know that those are just basic counting numbers. And I don't mean to bypass his true shooting, which is bad, and a lot of that is from or some of that, at least, is from having the sprained ankle, the ankle injury that prevented him from participating in training camp and just having a really rough start to the season. But. Mobley and Barnes are in two situations that are just not even close to the situation that Kate is in, where Kate is. Kate does everything. He's the point guard. He makes, he's basically kind of like the heliocentric conductor of their offense in a way that Luca is in Dallas. And he runs a ton of pick and roll. He's just setting everybody up. He's got to look for his own shot, create his own shot. And I mean, his usage is a lot higher. 7 and a half or something like that. Yeah, it's a lot lately. It's been even higher than that. Yeah, and he's been ridiculous in crunch time as well. For 20 year old rookie to kind of have those chaps, it's been very impressive. They've been winning of late two. And it's like mobley comes in. I don't mean to denigrate anything that mobile is done. But offensively, it's just like, we're not really asking you to do too much Evan mobley. The options that they have on their team, Darius Garland, who's emerge as an all star. As a rim roller, Jared Allen, also emerged as an all side this season. They have a lot of competent players off the bench to and before Ricky Rubio was hurt Ricky ruby. They'd had veterans Kevin Love, et cetera. And they've been on a playoff team this whole season. I don't raptors have Fred van vliet, Pascal siakam, OG, and inouye when he's been held. They have just like a veteran team that was expected to go to the playoffs and they shouldn't have even they had the fourth overall pick because of a totally weird season last year where they're playing down in Florida and it was just a nightmare season. And they're awarded this pick, but they aren't built like a lottery team. And so I just think that when you consider the context of cade season and if you watch him for the last two months, he's just been kind of a revelation and..

"But with this game, I'm kind of like, I don't know, I feel like there are little bullet points of data points that are intriguing going forward. For example, I wrote this yesterday up on the site, a piece about just kind of assessing hardens first month in Philadelphia and how the sixers looked on both ends with him and what it kind of portended for the future. And one of the elements that concerned me a little bit is they're spacing. And they're inability to space the floor. Or just that being a question mark, I think, going forward, when you play Matisse Val as many minutes as it seems like they might have to play him Tobias Harris isn't a great defender either, but it's also been unwilling to take wide open threes and looks a little bit uncomfortable doing so. And you go up and down the list, if you were to play lineups that are the best kind of spot up three point shooters for this team, then you really limit yourself with playmaking and you really limit yourself on the defensive end as well. And I just thought that was interesting watching last night, Seth curry is guarding Matisse thal and he's, you know, Seth curry is obviously not the greatest defender he's not the biggest player, but his ability to kind of re havoc as the low man and help really early when thigh bowl is standing in the weak side corner or even when thy ball is he's doing those back cuts along the baseline, but South Korea is kind of twisting it, he's got his head on a swivel, making sure that Bible doesn't creep too close to the rim and get an easy layup. And the space sign is just like, it's terrible. And it's kind of reminiscent of the situation that Hardin was in Brooklyn when he was so unhappy when Joe Harris wasn't there, Kyrie wasn't there. Katie wasn't there..

"To give you didn't want to get. You didn't want to give that to a bird. You didn't want to give a TPE for him. Yeah, exactly. Why? I never said that. Levert is a really good player. Well, Bobby. She can stay in the damn court. And I look wrong, but I'm talking more about Bragg then, yeah, first of all, no, you were doing over the bonus, and I'm like, sabonis, I don't think it's as realistic, you know, if you're not putting one of the main guys on there. And I'm like, levert is someone that you can buy for cheap. And see what happens there. Another scoring weapon for you. Yeah, look, if you're the sixers and you view this as a thing that has a four year shelf life, you're thinking somewhere within here, he either comes back in place for us or I mean is it though or indeed? Indeed fact. Or I'm able to rehabilitate his image to the point that I could trade him for something of value. If you just give it away now, it's like, okay, there's a little dip in the housing market. You freak out, you sell your house a year later, it's worth, you know, twice what you're solder for. You're like, shoot, I should have waited. You can't just panic and sell for nothing. So I get their stance. It is just frustrating if you're the sixers or you're the coach like, I just want something, you know? Like, you have to decide there's a 0.0% chance of this ever resolving itself over the course of four years to make a bad deal now. And that's why they're doing it. It's just, I wouldn't take anything at this point. You either convince him to play, even if it's a full year later, because that's better for you. Or that is mindless. I think that's the dumbest thing you can do is try to get them to come back. Are you kidding me? This is overdue. They should have traded him two years ago. And they're still trying to get them to come back. And I think that is what's holding this up, John. They want him to come back and join this team. You saw the media campaign that Doc put out there early this year and the apologies. And then that, they want him back. And that's not going to help them. It's not going to resolve anything. It's not going to win the championship. They need to make the right deal right now that's going to help their team that's out there and not dream for the Damian Lloyd and these phenomenal packages that mori thinks he can pull off here. This is Maurice arrogance to me. They earned this loss in the last final minutes of the game. I thought they played well enough to win, obviously. I like their compete tonight. And just let him be take over down the stretch and that's sloppy. I'm not going to blame the loss on Marcus smart's inbounds, obviously, because they were down three at the time. But man, you had a chance to tie that game up there at the end. I didn't like that class. I don't know. I saw Tatum kind of waiting for the ball and he had almost four seconds to get a shot off. I would have probably just done that. Instead of do the yeah, do the thing where you don't throw it into triple coverage. Yeah. That would have probably not done a bad football play. Yeah. Brady. Story of the game really just comes down to the last few minutes, Celtics, it was an 18 to 6 run over the final three 40 with a little over four minutes to go. Celtics take a 97 90 lead. Click the freaking head. Think about that. Put the hammer down, guys. It's a 7 point lead with four minutes ago. Put the hammer down. Right. Similarly, do you have your two best players in the game? There's no excuse. And I know you've got problems in your down bigs tonight. No, but is it disappointing? You said it best. Right, like having cancer at the end of the game, obviously is an ideal. But at the same idea, you had a 7 point lead in the fourth quarter. I get it. Out there, I know dwell indeed is, you know, he's a tough down the stretch. He's that guy that can do what he did. But still, the execution wise, it was just poor. And you look at it an opportunity for someone like Payton Pritchard and it's like, come on, man. Those are the games that something's usually win when the unsung hero comes up big down the stretch, a big three, what was it three straight possessions he knocked down three shots? I mean, this is the kind of game we were looking for out of like a nee Smith or like a Romeo and Pritchard, you get it from printer to get it into a short handed sixers team and you don't capitalize, man. I don't know. So that's kind of what's the point of laws in my opinion, because that's kind of what I'm going to talk about very winnable game. Yeah. Totally. Pritchard. Pritchard didn't necessarily need to come out of that game. No. I didn't hate that. Yeah. Pritchard was Pritchard was great here. Wait, what are you doing? Are you saying something? What do you mean? I'm just saying, I'm just trying to figure out exactly where it.

"When they are defensively tenacious, it's about Marcus smart. When it's about their intensity, it's about Marcus smart. But it's about somebody being willing to step up and say something, even if maybe he went a little too far publicly, he was the one who called out the stars for not moving the ball more. And they got to bounce off that. They got to bounce off that. They did. So I'll be afraid to give up somebody who brings all that to the table. Do I want Marcus smart as my primary point guard? No, I don't think that's his best role, but I love him as a player and I mean, listen, on the other end, you're talking how are you talking about the blazers? We both agree. Stale, right? Something's going to change. And that's exactly the case. They're the same. Maybe you're maybe you're swapping out pieces and it's not going to work, but the Celtics aren't going anywhere. At some point. Yeah. It's the same thing. At some point too how are you? I think jaylen brown's got two years left in his contract, you know, Tatum's gotta think one more, you sort of start thinking about that long term. I just gotta shake things up there. You gotta do something different. And Brad Stevens is not shown any hesitancy to do that. He shook up the roster. This past off season a little bit, Kemba's gone, fournier's gone. They made a couple of deals. I trade the young guys if they have any value now. He made yoga does not like playing young players. I don't know why. Like, Romeo Langford finally got off the bench or started playing more minutes against Phoenix. You had arone Smith finally getting off the bench against Phoenix didn't play well. Peyton Pritchard can barely get off the bench with that team. These young players are not getting shots in Boston. If they have any trade value, give them all up, like clearly the south aren't gonna play them. But if you could do smart, rob Williams and whatever else they want, besides Jayson Tatum and jaylen Brown, I would do it. I'm just do it. And I'd live with being able to fill in the space around McCollum, Brown and Jayson Tatum. Yeah, I mean, I agree that the Celtics also have to do something more creative and bold. And if you're gonna stick with brown and Tatum, then smart is your only other big chip. They should trickle Brown Tatum though like this like I'm not there yet. McCollum and Lillard, I think we've established anything. I'm not there yet with brown potatoes. He's missed a bunch of time this year. And the critics of jaylen Brown disappeared in this recent road trip when he wasn't playing. It's like, well, we're getting jaylen Brown back this week. We'll be all right. So I'm not there with brown and Tatum not working. The reason they're not analogous is, I mean, one, just longevity..

"The clippers to me are interesting. Especially when it comes to being in the mix for Kyrie Irving. Look at the salaries on the clippers. Like they've got a bunch of guys that could make the money work, right? If the nets ultimately say, we want to just get a bunch of pieces, right? You could get either Eric Bledsoe or Reggie Jackson, whichever one of them that you'd actually want. You could add Marcus Morris into the mix who's been good in the playoffs before, kind of a versatile guy, plays two positions. Maybe there's a sweetener there that the clippers can throw in. And the clippers are probably destination Kyrie want to go to, which is something we haven't talked about in all this, because Kyrie is going to hold some power here where if he says, you know what? I don't want to play there. I'll sit out the rest of the season a lot of my contract to go play somewhere else. So that's a conversation you have to have with him if you're a team looking to acquire him. But Los Angeles, playing with Paul George, eventually, if not this season next season playing with Kawhi Leonard deep pockets in Steve Ballmer, I don't know, you'd need the nets to have that mindset where they just say screw it. Just give me pieces that work. Clippers can kind of offer that. They can kind of throw you some versatile guys that might make some sense in your rotation. I agree. The clippers were on my buyer list. They are the fourth best team in the NBA in defense based on defensive efficiency rating at the moment, but 25th in offense. And look, that's the no mystery why that is, you're missing Kawhi Leonard, you know, one of the best players in the league. Paul George and reg Jackson, the rest of this group to their credit have been competitive. They've been respectable, but we don't know when Kawhi is coming back or if he's even going to get back this season with the ACL recovery. Getting a guy like Kyrie, first of all, go get a point guard period. Like I think if they can upgrade at point guard period just another playmaker out there, Reggie Jackson and so these guys are good players, but they're scores more than anything. You know, I could see them even being a good landing spot for Goran dragach if that deal comes to pass. We don't know why drug getches away from the raptors right now. Ricky Rubio, if the Cavaliers decide to move off of him, like the clippers just need everybody wants Ricky ruby right now. Everybody's looking around going like, why didn't we go after Ricky Rubio? The clippers are another team too. Like the defense is already pretty good, but they're another team that I was like toying with like are they the miles Turner destination?.

"Chris herring chris. It's so wonderful to see you today. How are you doing man. i'm good it's it's it's been a minute it's good to see you and Happy happy to be rolling into the weekend. How are you. I'm also happy to be rolling into the weekend. After the week of news that we are going to address at the top of the show Speaking of and in today's episode we are going to touch on yesterday's Bombshell story from espn's baxter homes about phoenix suns owner robert server. We're going to try to explain. Why the philadelphia seventy sixers are so good and we are going to open up the mailbag as we usually do a i a quick reminder to keep those emails coming in open for male at gmail.com. That's open floor mail at gmail.com Okay chris so we sadly need to start on a depressing albeit Important story that was published on. Espn yesterday by baxter homes. It's about robert cyber and his seventeen year reign of alleged terror as owner of the sons in this story which everyone should go read on their own Baxter spoke to over seventy former and current sons employees about servers racist language anti-diversity belief system his misogynistic views and actions the way that his behavior negatively impacted the mental health of so many different people who worked and still worked for him how he interacted with them on essentially sub-human level Server denied almost all the allegations except for a story about him. Panting former son's account executive. David batson in august two thousand fourteen in front of more than sixty employees at the teams. Al ice bucket challenge. The nba has responded by outsourcing law firm to conduct an internal investigation. That will then dictate whether any disciplinary measures are appropriate That basically comes up. There's a lot of stuff in here. that you and i are probably going to dig a little bit into right now. But chris just bradley. What was your reaction when you first read and and saw the story. I mean there was a pretty amazing amount of detail in the story and While i'm not going to say that one or two details being accurate or that someone copying to one or two of them means it. All of them are true. I've worked with baxter before. He's not he's not just someone that's just running with stuff So i mean you don't talk to that many people and not have a lot a whole lot of truth and your story then so i mean there were a whole lot of i. Don't recall that. And i it is he said versus. He said he said versus. She said where with the exception of our watson. You didn't have a whole lot of people on the record saying it. But i mean it was pretty horrible horrible stuff where you've got somebody justifying using the word repeatedly By the way there are a la inward allegations in there for none of them have been true So i mean there was a whole lot of stuff that just with so many people in so many anecdotes were pretty vivid And ones were quite frankly. I mean baxter. Led the story with earl watson and our watson ended honestly the way. I felt Reading it is that you know you've got a couple of things that people are willing to fire off for stories like these but this was like this fell a whole lot. Not to bring r kelly into stuff like the are kelly trapped in the closet where they were like dirty additions of the song and iterations of the song..

"I know that's sure forty four wins not right to what ends and i think that's the issue but in terms of any like had seen anything that that he would be willing to again like admit there some issues or something even issues some things. He needs to adjust. There's been no indication entire career that he's willing to do that stuff. So and that's timing for me that's coming people or closely with him So you never know when someone's going to grow up or change. But i wanna be i would have bet on it. Yeah i mean what we've seen message probably in the last couple of days there's been wants to go to a situation where he's the number one option on the team right And i think your own broke down a lot of it great story. I fox sports about you know. There's a long stretch where his brother was coming to pre game warm ups and they were going through a workout routine and from my perspective from my vantage point. They were taking shots. That then was never going to take in the game. Forty five minutes later There's been a lot of Talk over the years from people in and around philadelphia where you see all these videos. 'em kind of very similar to lsu stuff. I was talking about previously where you see him. Late night on instagram with dogs running around the practice for in camden dunking. And doing all this stuff and lifting weights and planning it all coaches and executives have have openly wondered you know why aren't you doing that. Why aren't you coming into the city with us. Like helping us grow. You know every year You know you talked about this a little while ago. Howard how embiid and simmons. I'm always kind of been very involved in the sixers. Decision-making i remember in two thousand eighteen Josh harrison brett brown kind of had like this back room. Sit down with a bunch of media members in the thomas and mack center. It felt like the smokey poker game And they were talking about how you know. It's team bannon's team joel. And the other development plans for these guys to go away with and come back and whatever he's never been receptive to what the sixers have have pushed him to work on. And i don't know if that's gonna just all these different building a different staff and that's going to change. I think through on point. He's pretty consistently been strong willed and You know steadfast and how he wants to work and how he wants to improve And i don't know. I mean it could be a thing about You know depending on the situation where he goes right if it's a situation you hypothetically let's say that kim start off very poorly and darren fox or someone who i think the sixers would be happy to get back in in return for him right but he's also a player that maybe sit down ten fifty. Exactly whatever number you wanna use. Their answers are going to be split on the boxers and potential all star. Someone reasons with ben shooting whenever but again hypothetical situation..

"They're not guarding him. So it just be draymond. Green your ten feet off the screen. And then he sets a screen for seth curry. And you're like well. That's nice like seth curry just made a floater and shot along to like like. I don't seth curry like the guy was a six man or seventy man on the mavs less. I and then okay. So do that for tobias well tobias and banner very often defended by size players so teams will just switch that and i just so so the other the other simmons stat that is really interesting in the regular season. Ben simmons ran sixteen pick and rolls per one hundred possessions that's medium volume for a player like him but it was like part of the deal they would post them up and embiid would come screen around the block and that was like a little funky pick and roll. They could run in the playoffs. He's running seven point five. Pick and rolls per one hundred possessions. That's like nothing against the hawks through two games. He's run seven. Pick and rolls in the irish help you. I mean if you're on a floor during an nba playoff game. You can accidentally walk into six pickles into games. I mean that's that's yeah you know and and i just think the pendulum at that point has swung too far to. He's just doing nothing in the dunker spot and you know look they make it work because embiid is that good because he makes these baletic baletic belletti whatever ballet three fading away a lodge one post upshots. That are ridiculous. But you have simmons in the dunker spot. sometimes you have also on the floor and two the sixers credit. The table simmons embiid trio. Which feels like. It shouldn't work because there's just not enough shooting around and beat it's been really good in the playoffs and the regular season. it's just sometimes gets clunky. There's a possession. Game two. And simmons had lou williams on the dunker spot and they need to look at him they just screwed around and took along to and the other thing is if he's got a guard trae young right. They have the opportunity to get that match up on the other end after stops. And that's what. Ben did so well in the first round against washington when they had all these little guards defending them the whole game when they get a stop he would say. I've got a small guy on me. I'm going hard right in his face. And that's the way i wanna see. Ben simmons her trae we keep talking about. These teams can't entree young. The knicks don't have the personnel dany. Green is about a safe as a hiding place as it gets. You run a couple of the industry and actions like if they get that match up for a second in semitransition. Ben simmons has ball his ass over and get a duck. I just feel like the pendulum has swung too far to ben. Simmons doing nothing even with his defensive contributions which are enormous. I i think there's some splitting of differences to do here and one is an and they used to do this in the regular season. I haven't seen her a lot of sort of what i call the old korry magaji sets right where you know. Maybe it's harris. Maybe it's it doesn't matter who it is down screen for. Ben comes flying up the corner curling and catching the ball on the move at the elbow. Going no drills right right to because he can catch you can catch at ten feet on the go. And who the hell's gonna stop that right. And i think that's the sort of sort of bowling ball. Plays as i like to call them and mcgee was always great at running them when i used to watch a lot of their games and i. I think that you know that has been done. Effectively for ben simmons in the past and it's just get him the ball on the move especially if it's not a transition game the obviously look if the sixers can get really good stops on a regular basis. He is the single best accelerator of good defense into transition offense in the league outside of maybe janas right and he'll always be exceptionally useful in a game when that is happening. But i i think i'm with you like in the it can't just be as you say sitting in the dunker hoping for something they probably should precipitate a couple of things that are easy to do and again. He's got decent hands he can catch on the go and once he catches on the go. There's nobody in that hawks defense who's on collins it will. We've talked about. John collins If charles berkeley's nickname. Anthony davis street clothes which i didn't i love charleston. I didn't think those nineteen fair i. I'm surprised basketball. References already. not listed like dunker spot. Benny is ben simmons nixon. He's just there all the time doing nothing. Which is not nothing because he can cut an offensive rebound anyway. The other thing about phillies game two is the perfect representation of this. I just. I never know what this bench is going to be and shake milton's our rotation and she comes and saves there s and game two with a flurry a proverbial flurry a plethora of crazy shots. And the i just. I don't know how you feel about this. I just i just don't feel like george hill has impacted their team as much as i thought he would. He's like a good player he he. He blew up a h. o. In game two of the beautiful steel and take coast-to-coast a rake intake. Is.

"This was fun. man. I appreciate you. What's yours you're wearing by the way this is embiid. Ray jersey from there all Years ago one of four sixers said this one. A white ben simmons dursey than to blue ones mature tires. Maxima t stibal which is interesting because the other three Beat all could have very likely been traded at different points this season. So you know. That's at least one consolation i have is that i all those. This is still a sixers alternate jersey. Yeah no. I love the grays on the grade. How do you feel about the black alternate. Though i kinda like everyone is really like on sixers. Twitter doesn't like them while there won't be so you're thinking it's a rip off of the ira symbol actors these which they the sixers the the sexiest. pr staff. At and t's maybe those jerseys were coming back in the sectors. It'd be wearing those this year. So that's kind of why people don't like the black jerseys think they look like they're not ugly. I think when you're watching game it's although it's kind of funny. Both the wizards in the sixers played with a task to the rest. Which i thought because they were in black and gray and you know obviously the wrestler in black and gray so i thought that was kind of funny but They're generally like they're not as good as a black jersey. Should be for the sixers. So it's a little bit. But it's i mean there have been worse jerseys. Obviously the gnaws fair enough bring back the bring back the og blackened black alz those were From the first ireson run necessary. I like that's should always be in rotation but nike so now have have five new jersey's every year mark. Oh exactly because it's the only way we can force people buy new ones see. I just think why not find what if we just had like three rotating alter something and you could bring in a new one every year or something like at some point. It's not as cool when every team's jerseys completely different every year like there has to be like take some cool ones like the grizzlies should wear. The grizzlies can have those vancouver throwbacks time. I love those jerseys like us all the time. Like switch through the more. Why does miami half to retire the vice jerseys that everyone liked to like though original like white miami vice jerseys. Those were awesome. They were so good it was like. Why don't they just wear these every game. It looks so good but instead it's different every year has to be we now. We have to retire them. It's like no you don't like also k. Wurster why did the heat in the bucks go dark green versus mustard yellow. Yeah those terrible man about that. I was appalling link. Why again i love. Referencing means live on. Podcast it's like anything it's one you know the moment. It's like it's unnecessary. There's no reason. Yeah those ads with action. Bronson is necessary. That was exactly watching the pacers yesterday. It's like who asked for this color matchup. No-one did no one wanted. This like neither team could wear white. Yeah it was a it was gross. And i'd like to see better but it's better than the gobert tide is the that miami's been wearing this year. So that makes it looking broker phone screen. Yeah it's awful..

"Today is one of his best games as a six. Or i thought you played really good defense on a bradley beal when benson's was out there And i thought he did some some quality stuff in just you know. Dumping the ball off to tobias harris in in taking open shots How'd you feel about george today. And how he factors in moving forward a great game from georgia. I really liked it to you. Said defensively just another guide. Pretty quick long arms. The you know the sixers type as far as wing defenders go then offense like he had a few of those drives just. He is very normal guard. He just helped your team a lot in a lot of normal ways. He makes three from their opening. Can take a few shots off the dribble he can get to the rim. If asked like does all those little things that are fine your team. He's not outlined good anything but he contributes in all those ways and then i mean one thing i liked said there was the one back door the back door but west brooklyn to double d. Don't have enough pass that. In the next time down when they entered in denby hills and get on the same side any made that same cuts but like from a slightly different angle and thing is since. He scored on the wizards kinda like spa in westbrook and some other vendors. Were paying attention to help you to score that and then be drove baseline for a score. So it's just got anything like we as you know there's a lot of talk about how cutting opens is another way to open up spacing. That's signed george hill. Does well to. It's like you just at the right time with his like since he can finish in generally good player like teams. Do pay attention to money. Cuts are not ignoring him so in that can open up embiid too so yeah i thought was a really good game from george hill. Yeah so that leads means in my first quicker than because I guess i would just ask. Who else are you confident off the bench because the bench unit was not a bright spot today especially when they went all bench with with tobias and even when they had the bench with tobias bias in sat there was still pretty shaky Especially shake far. I laugh at myself sometimes But yeah well. I mean we're we're you out with that. Yeah of so like if you're going for guys. Trust dr benjamin. George hill is one of them. Trust him for sure in. Like i know the minutes don't always great but i mean you need a backup center in. I think tweet howard is perfectly find that all year we still had some good moments day even if there was some slopes from time to time but dwight his finest backup center. Trust him and then you start to get into well okay. Who are we really going with. You're not a ton of minutes from t- stibal day but like in sober. The trust in him is of course. None of it is like offensively. it's all rooted in. I trust that his defense is good enough to outweigh. How much can hurt the offense. At times. And i still think he's at least a little bit better than like. Say someone like a tony allen on offense from back in the day just because he will take a few threes and make a few of them even if he didn't today..

"Green south korean there. There's easier to build up a wall against ben on when he's trying to get to the rim all kinds of stuff it's like so much of the sixers identy flows out of embiid being who he is. But you know even if you'd like an aisles upset sixers could have played them a little more in the second half because he wasn't in foul trouble and he had gotten basically all the rest you would get in a normal game. All almost all met first half of sitting south dropping only played ten minutes. In the. I ask so i was kind of thinking. Doc like why are you sticking with normal rotation serious basically the normal rotations already got thrown off today. So but you know it's like you saw its final minutes. He basically just closed the game out with like three or four really hard contested. Mid-range jumpers some off the dribble. Some really hard angles. Which i mean. It's still craziest thing. That's all these years to six are struggling to shoot embiid basically decided this year. He's gonna become like elite mid range shooter and it's made all the difference in the world and that's what again today so like you know not as not the best playoff game and beads overplayed but a stillie. It's probably up. There is a very very good one because in the end of the day was really great. Like he's been all season. Yeah definitely i think My thing to just moving towards maybe adjustments. That'll happen a throughout the series. How do you feel not even just the series but like looking forward. How do you feel about the like the depth that The doc wants embiid drop because there were a lot of times today where i mean he was playing a little bit more center fuel but mostly deep drop and i mean it works again but like there was enough where it's like okay. Guys getting a runway Easy floaters easy. Mid range stuff I mean do you want to see that. Change at all or like it. That was one of the few things where i think i've looked at a lot with phillies defense. Granted they turn it on when they need to and they're they. They still had a good defensive game regardless or not. Awesome like a solid defensive game given the offense or playing but That's one of the things. I really look at wanting to see implemented more as the playoffs. Start to go on. I think that they really have that up their sleeve. And just haven't shown a whole with a lot of regularity and consistency..

Dan allender from over at liberty ballers as well as inside and you. Dan how are you doing it then like you said a happy success at the moment stress. Sixers fan through. I mean technically. I can't hide the sixers fan museum supposed to be covering them. I knew dead like covering a pacers indie cornrows that you like you try to be as neutrals possible. I think it works out for me. Because i'm a fan but i'm always a pessimistic family. I did not take the sixers to win the title. I'm always very worried about them. Backfield trying to be rational about their flaws. But yeah i'm happy right now because they pulled out that way definitely man i. We have a lot to dive into. I wanna talk a little bit about the game. I you know. I'm not really a full game recap or anything but Definitely talk little bit about the series and where they're headed to number one. Tobias harris had a fantastic game today finished with thirty seven points Countered by the fact. That roy hodgson marin might have been the worst player on the floor. Today i feel like that's actually fair to say sucks rui but like he was he was a step behind the entire game. Defensively really. I mean he finally took that three down the stretch but he passed out like four or five open. Ones reminded me a lot of watching miles. Turner two years ago Yeah i mean but not the takeaway from tobias. Bias was awesome on both ends thought. Well first of all you're going back on your works in our group. Chat you said for concorde. Moss was the worst player on the court. Well i've played the whole game got played out after the instant now is about it. So you know like Was the one where it's like end. Were done that was like for minutes after that. First half with the. I don't know doc will keep doing going forward. He has been a good piece for the rotation most of the season. He had a good second half of the season. So maybe he'll just like maybe just a quick understand that wasn't for khan's game or maybe it is going to be going forward just more maxine mainly maxi taking emphasis minutes then but you have a mirror just is kind of weird because like if you're trying to think of the ideal way someone like koch america play you would think. Maybe it's like to buy harris this bigger bodied forward..

"Yeah, that's definitely something that is interesting. But like I said earlier all of that is solved by getting A scoring our regular schooling guard Ben Simmons doesn't have to be in that role and it makes him a better player automatically. Do y'all think that and I don't know what the package would be what we hear in a lot of Kyle Lowry rumors and a lot of teams are fishing around to see what his value is depending on what you would have to give up long as is not correct and the home take all the hometown stuff out and do y'all think that outfit but Kyle Lowry in the Sixers will take the team to another level or do you think it'd be more of a lateral home. Now? My question would be is are we trading are we must not even who are we trading are we keeping to buy has been Angela Angela Colorado? Ultimately that's not possible with the amount of money, Yeah in trade like Mike Scott and like I know it's a couple of Danny Green like Scott and caterpillars. Absolutely. We can do that and get and get contacts off. What these guys we could yeah. Oh, that would be amazing. I would Cry tears of joy to be. So honest with you. I think they can make it further in the playoffs then maybe third round but not I think right now for the second round but not third round win the championship, but the but the problem is the rappers are now in eighth spot place a B16 the last ten so they they suck right of their shift a little bit. I think more is Zach LaVine, honestly if that's even possible. Yeah. Yeah the rappers that are going to blow up their team and you know tank to do that deal, but that the polls are interesting thought he knows they have a new management. So we don't know what their deal is. Do we let me ask you this. Do you really think that losing calorie for the Raptors would cause them to think well, if you if you I mean listen to he's doing this thing. I'll just check his numbers. That's like I thought they were a little bit lower but they're kind of like in you know in line with what he did now, how would they get back again? Cuz it sounded like you know who would live the place. You're listening from the Sixers. I think they said Danny Green any green like in caterpillars, like my tech got Tony Branch be a draft pick or something and draft you like to forget and flip flops on I mean, so you're going to take out like the starter right a guy who's you know, is their leader and you're going to replace him with Danny Green and Mike Scott wage, like, you know, I don't see how that we know what I mean that just seems like they're going to kind of look to get up higher traffic at that point. Yeah, they want to Optics. I think what coach this is. This is why I ask is because they have a question..

"I got a lot of death. So I got to line up for you guys because I was looking at lineups and it will not allowed to be made besides the fact that the starters are you know, net rating is + 14.3 the next most played line-up though. It's just a lot so doc has been playing the starters 279 minutes across 14 games, you know injuries and what not the second most play line. I've only had fifty six minutes, but it's got Dwight Howard Tobias Harris. Korkmaz, Shake Milton and and Matisse thybulle and now one is actually better at + 18.7. So they found a lot of obviously, they're probably beating up on some of these, you know, second units pretty well with Harrison there as the one starter but I'm trying to like wrap my head around that you got Milton doing the running the pick-and-roll Harris spotting up korkmaz starting up Howard doing his defensive anchoring and you know home to rebound whatnot. And then the upside Bal who's doing the defense that's interesting line-up. And by the way, their defensive rating is like eighty six point two, which is like insanely low. I think I think they might have dead. Follow that might be just how a little bit more of a traditional line of that is I mean Shake Milton is kind of big for a guard. But either way like is definitely a more traditional set up with those guys and I think that plays a role with how well they able to play but like you said also bullying the bench and stuff like Yeah, I'm going to look up I want to look up what Bible what the roster looks are. The 5 Mi line-up looks like when fiber replaces green website that in there and see I saw five people in for Danny Green wage against the Kings yesterday. He was last night. He any green cord and Guardians box that they put enmity in the photo. They put Matisse and the guardian France. He showed him down. Yeah. He got home. He got few blocks on you and get defensive stops as well. Hm well here looking it up on. Let's see here. Where is the team shooting? So let's see how long the team is their points for possession is is wow. They're offensive rating is 155 with be put Fireball with the starters and the opponents offensive rating is m110. So that's a plus 45 now again, it's almost no time. It's like nine minutes. So that's nothing but I don't know. We really got to see that line up a lot more. Yeah, I think I think Matisse honestly the one and he's one of those kids to that. She's like he really wants to improve really wants to get better. I can see him becoming a like develop really into a three-page legitimately. Yeah for sure. You know, it's funny cuz I'm trying to you know, Rebrand Simmons if we have three and D guys. He was a I guess it doesn't go well over on Twitter if you call him back in a or maybe it's a & D assists and defense. That's what he does. It's a weird thing right? It's not even like a a term but that's what Simmons does I guess and and Page. Yeah. It's a real conundrum. We have to figure out but here's the thing. Did figure it out, ironically enough or coincidentally enough with Rondo right in a little bit of a different position. But Rondo had the equally issue, you know wage issues and we all might remember I think Kobe would just say I go off of him to no end in the finals and really, you know, try and.

Shake Milton Matisse Howard Milton Dwight Howard Danny Green Matisse thybulle Harrison 14 games 279 minutes + 18.7 fifty six minutes nine minutes Korkmaz + 14.3 Simmons korkmaz yesterday last night Harris

"You know, it's a good question. So I really is it will not change because he did not change it did not adjust with those Harold minutes now, he caught him a little bit but they he kept playing Harold even more minutes than he needed to play basically how badly he was playing. So yeah, that's a real question. I guess what they're going to do it by fire and find out but you know listening to a dock and had said about all those things from like some beat writers who come on the show it kind of indicated to me that maybe they really weren't so aware of what the performance of the poor performance of man tries was and I talked to NBA coaches before and a lot of times I get the sense. They don't really look at their line of data enough and that's a scary thing. Now it could also be a generational thing. I would imagine most of the young coaches are like, you know, sucking up all the data. They want all the analytics they can get but there is a certain level maybe like my age or older who I think don't recognize the value of looking at the line of data and in pointing out Jesus, we gotta stop playing these five together. Yeah. I think that's a really good point. But then I don't want naturally put on the line of data is for me cuz I'm I didn't catch every Nuggets Clippers game, but the ones that I did catch just kind of like to me it's kind of obvious. We're okay Montrose. He gets a bigger Defender, you know, because even though Yoakum isn't the all-world defensive player. She still is taller than Mantra. So it's hard for the Mantra and do this things that he usually does and then you're also giving birth Points on it because you can't defend yogesh. You know, the horoscope said about lamelo the beginning of the year. I mean he was saying he want to start him. But if you're turning the ball over in that page since I can't justify give you the minute so that's kind of sort of how I see this too. So I want to see how Doc Rivers and integrates EM is more into the offense because like I said, I don't see him averaging 12 points for a season to me that's hard to believe a 16 guy athletic it can handle the ball only averages twelve points and while twelve points points isn't the end-all-be-all. I think Simmons got have to be more of an offensive threat in order for the team to thrive overall because if you're just focusing on Joelle, even if he's pulling 230, we know where the ball is life that makes you kind of predictable if that for sure what I predicted by the way as the adjustment and we're seeing it now is because of the issues you see with Simmons finishing at the rim and and they're pretty legit like Synergy is ranked wage. Pretty low and he and you can just look it by your eyes. What what they'll do is they'll consciously not help or get into hell position at all on those drives relying on the guy that one on one guy that you know put a hand up and maybe they'll probably have a bad Miss and that way they'll stop him from kicking out and getting this Steph Curry open shots, you know, Steph Curry right now per game is only taking 4.23 is a game in 27 minutes now, he came back from covet and that was now it's been lower because of that is not less energy whatever but I don't know in my mind. He should be you know, Korea should be shooting a career-high page 36 attempts and is not even when you normalize it for that. That's another really big red flag for me. And I I don't have the time for this video to like figure out exactly why that's happening. But I have a picture..

Doc Rivers 12 points Joelle Steph Curry twelve points Harold 4.23 Jesus 27 minutes five Simmons 230 Yoakum 16 guy lamelo page 36 attempts Montrose Korea twelve points points NBA

"Game. The thing is with me in the war is block. He said with the wiggins and the situation. I think we're on agreement. Even watchmen does look really impressive of You don't need long sometimes to tell. The apply is going to be special. When you can tell that god is going to be special And then you think the minnesota timberwolves Messed up and the edwards squat special as well so good for both teams that but regardless. I think expect still that wiggins is gonna be the secondary score on that same right light a car you average twenty four last season Twelve foot something in the lakes. He's bona fide. Probably the second score on that team alpha watched that gloppy the secondary score on the team for a very long time and they never made the playoffs. I don't think he's efficient enough or good enough on defense and collectively will be good enough on the defensive end and a naive the offense to make up for it that makes sense so i don t know other well. Don't finish one freeway. Let's just say that. I think they can definitely squeeze into play until nothing they probably will squeeze into the plan told him and from there but I haven't been very impressive than oh. Yeah I don't think i'm as down on the warriors from what you've just said all right now. I'm been impressed. Particularly impressed with off. Saint from them will steph absolutely nuclear against charlize policies. Two points but it wasn't stefo was concerned about honestly was going to be steph and anyone that was out in him before to solve the season. You just you just not see as very very capable file that's why he has the murmurs potentially being an mvp unfotunately east teams. Just no good enough and good. Enough the mvp. He put up something absolutely absurd in that. Will that will not happen. Pop great numbers. But i will not be getting the. Mvp comes as a power bat. That team is gonna. I'm gonna say bad. I mean bad for what we think of the warriors of the pulse and any halt recent policies. And.
