How They Got There: Tonya Dalton

"Pay podcasters really excited for the show today because it features another great conversation in our thing they have to do each day that conversation and your calls coming up I want to be and how you can get there eight four four seven four seven is needed and that you must do it if you don't should do best and what you love to do most isn't about just the happy we are created to do work that matters that's what we focus on here I'm living the dream how can I help all right I just wanted to say I I find your well thank you very much I've been listening to while jogging around the neighborhood so a lot of good stuff like a lot of different jobs so immediately out of college As a linguist translator with the military and that was deployed to Iraq first exposure with the military and I gotTa tell you it was like a calling he twelve and then they did it again two thousand seventeen to eighteen working as a linguist and I'm away from my family so that's the one part that stinks when I'm gone for six my family and same time I would do that forever. It's not realistic since I in a linguist associated with the military it was being associated with the military being exposure. Well I think you have to listen to that so it's not the linguist work it's just you're like pull than the actual work of being linguist so I think if I'm hearing you correctly somehow attach the military or Yak have to ask yourself do you want to be in the military and there are certain jobs that aren't GonNa put you in harm's way either right and I think typical offers where you go and you have bosses and other people all over your head with them I'm sleeping in the same sort of areas that what you want basically I mean I like the independence of not having come on look over the unfortunate because your brain grinding to a halt I want you to answer the question that Woah what they say you do better than anything else and definitely a computer but I like doing that kind of job independently what would they say I mean I've just off talking my head go ahead together you know that kind of stuff okay all right so let's says okay okay good now limitations and other outside factors just tell me if you'd really love to do tell me what that would be I would really love took a six minutes to get to that point you you have got to stop Thinkin is it that I would love to do now being a hiring manager and that's an work but understand that that's not what you described earlier which is I can't solve this forty today I'm GonNa give you homework what you need to do is go so that it was going to be successful enough that there was no risk and I could just not because you were very clear with me that you liked the freedom and no one looking over when I pushed you which is a hiring manager what I think you said as you want to lead people people in the next week that no you really well and ask them if they would you enjoy work that you look forward to work that means a lot to you results functions tasks that the other world sees you as I think you're a little confused I think you over think and you start feeling and then let's see if we can figure out what that plan is let's go too leslie who's on the line in Texas Leslie don't be nervous you just focus on what we need to dig into what's going on I cannot aww yes you do yes you do but we'll get to that in the top of the list so I'm really good at kind of understanding software and computers learning and really analytical well but you also have the ability to communicate think start talking more when I get great listen you ran through that I wrote down technology passion that word this big heavy thing that's got you freaked out of the list of things you do really well let me walk you through already starting to think I can hear your brain starting do you love being in a role where we've got parts I know that you are a huge reason why the mess is now neat oh my gosh and when you untangle all that fish net and it looks you make it simple no you just told me you got the using those same things that you do best and using them enrolls what Seth Godin wrote in the book called Lynch Pin you are a lynch pin give me problems like that to solve all day every day and I am ready Oh yes you do listen forget job titles for a second whole blocks I can't think of because I think it's a job what job and the analyst you need to be dealing with technology so you're either could work for Ramsey so why don't you take what we just described and and talk to some co workers had somebody in here in our team they would give me five or six different roles probably even titles but again through step by step what to do when we come back my conversation with Tania Dalton on just about business management productivity in the pursuit of passion have impacted thousands sommet five ways to fix your resume and land your dream job this guide helps you understand in email and this takes you to the next step how to win the interview five strategies you get cans touch point time line five steps for following up after the interview at Ken Coleman Dot Com don't wait a second go to Ken Coleman Dot Com and and Tanya it's exciting to have you because I they've got this dream entrepreneurial dream and they're just wondering good grief and you've faced all the same emotions many of the same realities that these women that Tom as a wife what was going on that you had to kind of justify in your mind and then your baby in the hospital they also hand you a nice little dose of mom veal along with oh it really is truly changing our mindset and shifting your perspective on and and when you look at what you are modeling for your children if they can have a life like that as well and that's one of the things that had really happened everyone but in the pursuit of trying to do it all we ended up doing nothing bogus it just truly doesn't exist because if we are truly balanced if back and then lean into another priority so we might have periods in our lives where we gene into another area lean into work lean into growing that dream or starting that business that's why we have to let go of this idea of balance we need to look instead for the harmony a practical next steps once our mind is where it needs to be order some things that you did that thing down in formulating a plan what does this life I want really look like what do business and so at that point in my life my work life looked very different the other days I would counterbalance and I would lean on really focusing and prioritizing them look like because I think that's one of the biggest issues is that we often had these very who are kids crawl into bed with us at three o'clock in the morning or they get sick or or the car as do I want to work on my business this week and look at that each and every week and do what works for you and then sit down and map out what you want to get accomplished for that week I think they need to plan out on Sunday what they're going to do Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday and the jump in here because you made a really good point that I want to just throw something else at you life happens as you've been so beautifully describing it all of a sudden some even more guilt coming from a different angle is there is that happening with people on Wednesday what happens is you up on Wednesday morning already behind the eight ball already now I think that's the problem that so many women have they run around busy all day because we're trying to do fifty million things in a thousand different directions folks you need to write that down what she just said that is not just a mindset that's really really good and by the way that's that's great not just for MOMS but for entrepreneurs their mind and I tell you folks on the show that your mindset is start small you're how small it is you're starting for you not for everybody else isn't that true I think that's you list I like to tell people that overwhelm isn't having too much to do it's not prioritize them you know exactly where to start and then when you finish that you know where to start on next really when we start to feel really good about our days so what I'm hearing you say is title and strategic momentum all on the same kind of one fell swoop absolutely important it really is being intentional about the task you're choosing to do it make a difference in your day today and that's an investment in you in the future the next day so I talk about this actually in my book the system with my family actually I do what I call team planning on Sundays with my family and I do that I it I get it out of my head so that stress of remembering to do it is gone let's go to be achievable for today what can I get done and then what I do really is starting with your most important task and then working your way down and then I make of of really doing great quality work so I'm not trying to do a lot of things I'm trying which is to propel I make sure that I leave a little task list on my desk wow that's good and by the way the new book is the joy of missing outlive more by doing there's this performance pressure that we put on ourselves versus you know no matter how well we read your book you know we follow it where that's a really good question because as we said life happens right I businessmen at around two thousand eight and you know as making jewelry I was doing my husband on board to be working alongside of this company that I started obviously with my husband and I both working on this business that was our sole income so the I am passionate about what is my purpose so I really feel like it's important to stop are your priorities what is your North Star so what is your mission statement which your dive into who I really am and what is important to me allow me because I went through that process of discovery of finding my North Star and that's so many people it's a system that's really rigid and we're expected somehow in the middle right there at the center and then we create systems and productivity but also play to your weaknesses how do we clarify our day so that we really truly can live get a retreat back clarity of your y when you're feeling confused and overwhelmed it causing the buildup let me ask you talk about proximity around the right people in the right places to help you either get started or gain some rule it really is the people in the places how do we how do we live a life of intention by intentionally Oh so you really have to have a healthy challenge and I think you know me closing up a business alignment of values and I think for me taking that time to really understand and discover dating and so it really became okay this is where I earning over the rock looking around what do I have available to myself I right now so even little things for me you know taking the WHO's to say well you know you start a business you had to close it that's that's a terrible thing and what kinds of things I needed to do to grow a business and using that as a springboard take your business with an email list of zero I mean honestly the thing that people have to remember turn over the rocks look at what you already have person that you were meant to be the person you've been all along just making it more intentional for people who are saying Okay Ken you've got Tanya on here you're telling me that this site the title is a challenging title so what does the mindset that you think dream about when you're standing in line for coffee or when you're taking a shower that life you choices to have that happen and that's really what's at the heart of it it is mindset your day it really is all about making choices and I think that's the thing that gets me shows to move here because I grew a business that allowed me to do that if I can got lead to bigger steps and bigger stats leads to running and that's what gets you

#78: MORNING MESSAGES | Unleash

"Hey, hey. Hey today is Unleashed day. If you've been listening this week, we're talking unblock unfold unleashing which is the tagline for my beloved vrchota. This tagline dropped into my Consciousness in 2004 and has not left my heart. It's about this process this practice this journey of Awakening the Journey of Shifting Beyond The Busy mind the Journey of getting to know our true nature and our natural state. Unblock unfold unleash what is Unleashed unleashing is the release? it is the Pinnacle it is the summit it is that moment of sensing into yourself and knowing who you are remembering your Brilliance remembering your light remembering the joy that is your Birthright to experience but things get in the way should happens and you know what that the obstacles that get in the way our to be embraced and and And and I can't think of the word but to be in gratitude for these obstacles. I know that sounds so cliche and so new agey but but it's true because without resistance without any obstacles in the way. We don't truly appreciate the journey. So as a yoga teacher, I often remind students don't envy the flexible ones. Right? We have the students mostly women. I call them flexi Lexi's right? They are so flexible and limber that they could put their foot behind their head in their first yoga practice. We don't want to envy that because guess what there's no resistance in the way for these students to play to discover to work with right. We want to work with the clay. We want to take the clay that's hard and start to need it into soft clay so we can start to create off on our own. If you can drop your forehead to your knee and the first breath then you're going to continue to seek further and further and often times the students they overstretch, right? They're overstretched their tendons and ligaments. So the tension the tightness the blocks the obstacles are there for us to explore unleashing unleashing are those down moments those those orgasmic moments when we have that? That remembrance of the brilliance. Of who we are. So it's those moments those unrestrained moments beyond the patterns that hold us back the module emotional physical spiritual karmic patterns that hold us back hold this down make us play small. So how do we unleash well, we often have to go through the process of unblocking of unfolding and allowing for that which is ready to be revealed or emerged to come through and in the release is the surge of energy the clarity the aliveness the the moment of all that take our breath away. And it could be the simplest most ordinary moments everyday moments of release in the shower. Right? I have that released that unleashing of of them suffering in many ways in the shower. In solitude and silence and Stillness in my yoga practice and meditation practice and my walk in the woods in the moments of just journaling or pausing to take in some sunshine. This stuff isn't complicated my friend and it's free. So allowing for the release of of the holding back. I have a tattoo have a tattoo. It is a Celtic knot. It's also a called the tri versus along something or other. I don't know. I don't get bogged down in that kind of stuff. But my tattoo that sits on my wrist came to me in a meditation years ago. And it took the lies is for me. This word looked I looked mukti. Mukhti. I believe it's a Sanskrit word and it The definition of mook T is freedom. from the bondage of suffering Freedom From The Bondage of suffering it's a reminder that there is a moment a glimpse of space in time where I can experience the way beyond my physical suffering my mental suffering my emotional suffering. Not to say I lived there all the time again. We want those obstacles that resistance to help us to see clearly to help us to play to practice with it. But this Mook D and the symbol for me is just a reminder that there is a place beyond it and it's available. It's just beyond or behind all of these patterns that we think are holding us back. Look T. So play with this today. My friends is the sense of unleashing the sense of allowing yourself to experience it because it's ready to break through in any moment. It truly is unblocked unfold unleash. This has been a lot of cramming a lot here in the six minutes or less this week, but they really are just reminders. For you to remember who you are. I love it. #89: MORNING MESSAGES | Free Heart

"Boy oh boy do. I have my work. Cut out for me today. free heart. How can we possibly conquer and talk about freeing our emotional burdens in six minutes or less. It's not possible. But what i want to do for you today. In any way that i can the any way possible is to offer you my own experience and that is nobody can do this work for you my friend. No one can unburden your heart. You must go in on your own. Investigate check it all out become familiar with the blocks. The obstacles the baggage that you're holding onto and to unburden yourself. So this week is freedom week. We are talking about free. Mind free body so often a the root of our disturbances as we're learning from new science is deep deep deeply seated in our microbial in the microbe by oda in the balance of bacteria in our body. This is phenomenal. Phenomenal new science coming out. Make sure you grab my mental fitness protocol. To at least get you started on understanding this all but when it comes to the level of the heart we must approach it approach our heart and the the armor around our heart from different angles and very very tenderly so we can approach it from the gut brain access absolutely and we must and we can approach it from our mind and the patterns of our mind and we can open also approach it directly by just asking asking ourselves questions all day long. What what's gripping my heart today. What is gripping me. What is holding me down. What is disconnecting me from being fully available to others in my life the first step is just naming it naming your burdens writing down. If you're a writer naming it out loud if that helps what what am i birdied with. Is it resentment of something in the from. The past is it. Judgment of others is a comparison. Oh gosh that's been tough point for me. Is it worry. Constant worry about others kids parents money yourself. Your health just naming your burdens will start to help you crack open name. It become familiar with it. It's that rumi quote about the guest house. Invite them all in for tea here. we are. Okay let's have a discussion so firstly. It's it's it's becoming aware aware of the burdens. The bondage that is keeping you in suffering that hold you back from feeling that free heart that open heart and then two is. That is blanketing yourself with self love with kindness and compassion. They're they're sweetheart. Go back find those episodes. They're they're sweetheart. The loving kindness. May i be free. May i have joy. May i have kindness in my heart. May i feel safe. Those practices do it every single day over and over again and it starts to melt away the armor heart. It happened for me years ago. It wasn't easy and it hurt but it is so worth it. Because i'll tell you what on the other side opening your heart you become available to life you become available to others in an intimate way you become available to love life love others give freely feel more generous in your spirit in your heart so to be free in. Your heart is to melt the armor and in pem show dron one of my absolutely favorite teachers of all time out there talks about about putting down the the steel armor around your heart and soft opening your heart so that your heart becomes more porous. I'm a crier cry. Probably every day. There's something that touches me pokes me so deeply that it that it makes me cry and the cry is can be from the beauty around me the tenderness of another human being exposing him or herself. I cry because of grief you know those moments of grief on goodness it. It's bubbling up right now. In the crying. I enjoy it honestly because it. It's a reminder that that my heart is opening my heart is i'm exposing myself to the to the wonder of life to the to humanity but it takes constant work so to free. Our heart to really meet ourselves at that level is to admit where you're burdened to offer yourself self love compassion and then to open heart into be available to life to be available to being touched in many ways so there it is my friend. We start at the body. We touched the brain. We go to the heart. And and we circle ourselves with this deep deep Wish for wellbeing. Thank you for joining me. Thanks for grabbing that mental fitness protocol super stoked about that and Please share this episode with the friend or share a review. I so appreciate you be well.

They warn you guys ahead of time i think i did you did words you. Were going to be sleepy but how much credence is going to give all going to be sleepy. It's like yeah fine. Whatever but you're still doing a podcast. No i cooking i need to i need to like like the fed myself a little bit here. That was a day where like like i was supposedly working like four thirty and i hadn't actually get out until like six forty five or parade on my way home and then like eight it and about six minutes when i got home and then immediately try to record a podcast and it it was a bit burrito. Did you actually fall asleep at all. No i hadn't actually fall asleep but i was definitely like there. Were definitely stretches where normally i try to keep pretty good. You know okay straight up and down posture and yeah not particularly because my chair is squeaky. I try not to lean back as i were recording but like they're definitely times during that recording where i had just like slumped forward and my head like propped up on my my hand not i was like one step behind just like having my head down on the desk. It was pretty bad.

#88: MORNING MESSAGES | Free Mind

"Good morning good morning. Good morning today. I've got a huge task in six minutes or less to talk about mental freedom. My gosh i wanna start with another yoga sutra. Because you know what i want you to know is i'm just pulling this stuff out of thin air right. This is what sages have been talking about for centuries millennium right. We've been talking about mental freedom. It's the basis of of so many of our practices that are popular today. Come way back go way way way back so and the yoga sutras. We talk about that. That yoga is the sensation of fluctuations or whirling of the mind. So we practice. Yoga be practiced. Meditation practice prayer. We practice deep contemplative practices. So that we can slow down the safety the fluctuations of the mind the whirling. Don't you love the whirling of the mind. Even back then way back then thousands of years ago. They had whirling of the mind. I call it busy mind. Busy mind is something. We are all affected by busy. Mind i write about. My book is is the result of being crazy busy. This crazy busy. Overloaded schedule it's the result of overload. It's the result of having or trying to hold too many thoughts in our mind at one time. It's overwhelm my friend. That's where we stand and that is holding us back. That is the big obstacle or obstacles holding us back for mental freedom. What is mental freedom. It's clarity sharpness. it's acuity its flexibility of mind. It's being able to stay with one thing without jumping around like that monkey. Mind the monkey jumping from tree to tree or the puppy dog running all over the place. Freedom mental freedom is that ability to stay right here right now in the present moment. It's what we all desire. So how do we. How do we achieve mental freedom. Well it's always available. It's just behind the busy mind. It's giving ourselves the time energy space to investigate. What's happening behind the busy mind. And that is the beautiful practice of meditation. It's the becoming familiar with the fluctuations of mine the patterns of mind so that's one area like that's one way to experience mental freedom right. It's not easy. Listen as john. Cabot said It's simple but not easy this practice of meditation. There are other ways though. Right that i teach. There's there's body there's movement movement rhythm and breath can help us. Experience mental freedom right synchronizing breath body and movement helps us to stay stabilize the nervous system into the state of of of what i call coherence or balance and we experience the brain fog lift. And there's another way when we get our neuro chemistry and check right. This is going down a level right. We can start up at the level of mind with meditation. We can go down to the level of body in the nervous system and create balance and we can go down even further to the route and this is my newest investigation. Which is the relationship between the gut in the brain the gut brain connection when we start to balance when we start to balance. My friends are gut microbial. This is new science. I mean this is what is lighting me up like. I haven't been lit up in years. When we start to balance the micro biota and the bacterial environment of our microbiome. It is like a domino effect. It it improves. The communication between the gut and the brain and the neural transmitters that are running from gut to brain and brain to gut serotonin dopamine the neuron effort and the gaba all of these extraordinary extraordinarily important neurotransmitters. That help boost our mood. That helped lift the brain fog without the meditation. So if you're curious jump on my link and get my mental fitness protocol. Because this is where i'm at it's body it's brain and its bio and when we put the three together it becomes the as massive force for mental freedom so here it is mental bondage right when we are in the bondage of the mind we are stuck we are closed are tight. We are fixed when we start to open that up through practice and through protocol we start to become free from that bondage and we start to become free from the suffering of our mental patterns and we break through and we break free and this is where we start to experience that mental freedom the clarity the sharpness the acuity the focus the creativity the insight that we are all just thirsty four starving for in our culture so this is this is a huge challenge for me my friends to stay within the time limit but this week we are just tapping right. It's like a light tap. Physical freedom mental freedom energetic freedom financial freedom. let's start playing and looking at all aspects of freedom so we can identify. We're we're stuck. What's holding us back. Where i am free already and where i can lean into that freedom. 'cause the freedom that you already have it's going to feed the energy for you to go ahead and and face the other areas where you're stuck in being held back who man. Oh man this is great. I love this. Thank you for being here. And i can't wait for tomorrow. I keep saying that. But i can't take have a fantastic day hate. Share this with a friend. That would mean so much to me. We are growing dribs and drabs. I want to grow this friggin podcasts. Like a fire hose. And i need you to help me do that thank you.

Episode 86| The Response

"Taking the trees story find out what happens stopping flag art getting left fizzes all fucked up reason number four. Here's something that I personally believe not everything is for it's reasonable one they have a child together and it's really not I would say now sharing is probably not the right word to say because one member has another members ex-girlfriend slash mother take for even more money so again the way that finances work fully respect that decision the last few weeks we've had the pull ups the need ups the group sessions the board rooms it's a lot of voices in a room and while I love the Roese I can respect that reason number two I'm pretty sure that he's paying child support because he was the breadwinner dance to connect with people and give you something different I also like to give you guys just someone me without having so many other things Sean while ahead your attention and it was focused on me so while I'm having my meat episode again salutes him boy who's GonNa let I think the biggest mistake that we make in twenty nineteen is that we feel like everything is Republican Xiaoshan sometimes things just aren't in my business can be social media it's perfectly okay to take your ellison either private and beyond this you can flourish and come back and show everybody how great you are and I wanted to titles that because of some things that I've noticed that have either happened in the media but just some stuff that I've seen and I've observed you might think that the joke is in poor taste go and look and read and do some reading on just any of the things that happened around that whole situation something happened hi there important or worth dissing the mother of your child because you can always hear the things that you said just because you're angrier of Saturday did something their child there so everybody everywhere is looking for a Mari on the clapback here are five reasons why I'm personally glad that he has not in that situation and so the last thing you WanNa do when you're paying child support is a den Piss off that person who could then go back to court and mad silence in the background national you'll get some background music when going mixed this up edited a little bit but I wanted to do something different than done so unless you're hiding under a rock you would know that for the former beat sue K members basically share the same girl al-anon where my points may or may not drown out so salute to all of those people I'm certainly going to do that again but there were a few things that I specifically wanted to touch it he's still be he still beat is the favourite comeback of everyman ever for the rest of the year I think this came and I must thank black twitter for this he still beat let silence hit you from going to say it again every now and again but this week GonNa talk about everyone's favourite Kanji wes now Mr West Coast I business so I'm very glad that he has not discussed this in the public room and I hope he doesn't make me a liar by the time that I post this podcast tomorrow and he posts did and he got a beautiful child as a result he can be okay that that situation did not work out in those are my five reasons for the day I'm talking about my favorite person to sometimes he sometimes love I still listen to the college dropout from here like body to yet another episode of the Real World I'm your host Durell in them in the building in today if you hit it it's number three because Chris folks excuse me Chris Stokes probably touch little fist pretty sure the little needs a hug and made money off the word of God I just choose not to waste my twenty six minutes listening to that because I'm not really here for his godly message might be affect me when I post this and he'll say I already know what you're going to think but maybe you want so titling this episode of response I've been cool that I won't say cool something Corny that he didn't need post final reason number five a good message he knows how to mix some beets just not for me now a Lotta Times you hear me rant and rave about how much I hate kind around twenty nineteen was a thing on twitter whatever some woman did see if you had sex with there was just like but I still beat so knowing that that's what he did doc fees it might be that color way that brings me back in and says hey you know what I love this and do I totally can dismiss all the other cool things or good things about you I've I've probably rallied against cancel culture alive what specifically since I heard Dr Eric Michael Dyson talk about it in a seminar on that I heard probably earlier this year what was really important to me about that was that he made the point none of us are saints and so as long as I'm doing this thing where we've gotten to the point now drew can cancel culture in the way that we pollen things that if I don't like one thing that when it is like this podcast really is just to talk about how much of a walking contradiction I know I can be and probably a lot of other people in the message that he kind of puts out to the public and the things that he says and how destructive I feel like it is to the culture but you know what I I'm realizing that there are things that people do that I dislike I can always always realize there are things that people do that like as well I think the can both like something in hate something from that same source or person at the exact same time and you know what instead of getting called out on disliked conyers message but albums one do I would say what five six were doped let's go college dropped out we had eight awaits heartbreaks fire we had my dark twisted fantasy fire goes out and makes a gospel album I'm not upset the kind you went credible dollar route trying to get that money to church plenty of people lifer Pablo fire I was rocking with them through all of those things hell you know him and Jay z's watch the throne fires oh I certainly ran with too far so as a person who can say I personally love Michael Jordan I love him as the basketball player I have enough Jordan's I currently play basketball my favorite basketball sneakers and all of all time and I mean of all times late registration was it the good life I don't remember the name of that I that was at homecoming third album that was fired ah the good music album compilation what cruel summer fire or cold winter whichever one it was supposed to be and they were going to have a sequel fire I just didn't like yea it also coincided with him turning crazy but you know ear Jordan twenty nine thus eager cost me two hundred and twenty dollars and if I could find it right now I would buy it you #62: MORNING MESSAGES | Admitting

"Good morning, Cara Bradley here bringing you a big morning message. It's big. It's big for me. It's big for you, What are you not willing to admit? We're talking patterns this week. What are you not willing to admit to yourself about who you are and how you've become. And all I can do is bring you my own stuff crap right few years ago. I really had to sit with myself and admit that I control and manipulate others. Control and manipulate people and situations and I don't think I'm alone. So that's why I can boldly say humbly say God crap. I was controlling and and I'm sure I still do and I and I have to continue to look at my patterns, but I really really started to take a look at how I was trying to force people into doing things. That would benefit me. Hello. Hello. Hello. My kids my husband my employees. What are you willing not willing to admit about your control and manipulation of situations and people it's a big subject for six minutes. So I'm just dropping that in for you today. Where are you controlling? What are you trying to force and and here's the thing we feel Force physically we feel it when we're trying to write. We're trying to jam that wage that circle into the square. Peg where are you forcing? What are you manipulating? What are you not willing to admit? It's a lot to lot to drop in but we're looking at patterns this week cuz when we can start to get clear on some of our patterns. Some of the things that we need to make happen some of the things that we get fixed and stuck in I have to have the things done this way or no way Jose. Why don't you understand I need it done this way now to some degree. We have to have some order in Frameworks in the world, and I had to have some order and Frameworks in my business. But I started to notice and finally started to admit to myself what I just was fixed on having done and where I could let go a little bit and he's up a little bit. It freed me up. It freed me up when we're fixed and patterns. We are we're imprisoned in ourselves in our own mental mindsets in our own emotional mindsets, but we can free ourselves up by just shining the light of our action on them. So my daughter's one daughter in particular. My younger one has said to me over and over again. Mom. Stop trying to fix me. Just listen to me. Every time I come to you with something you have an immediate fix. Can you try not to fix me? And I got to be honest with you for a while. Like I didn't hear it. It didn't hear her saying that until finally I really did and I was like wow, this is a pattern. It's a pattern I need to admit. I'm a fixer. Are you? As parents we often are fixers. How quickly do you try to fix someone because it makes you feel better if they're fixed. It's not uncomfortable if they're fixed or if they're on the road to be fixed. So that was a big package. I had to admit to myself and I'll tell you what I crossed my fingers when she comes to me these days with something. I crossed my fingers and I and I seek to understand her a little bit more before just trying to fix her. And I realized you know, I'm fixing all over the place up and down the block. I'm fixing. Maybe I could just not fix so much or so quickly. Unless people are really asking so that was just one Big E for me. I'm not saying I'm there yet, but it's worth. It was really really helpful. to finally admit That I'm a fixer. How about you? What about expectations? Do you hold really high expectations? Excuse me, high expectations for others. Do you say you try to force people to be a certain way? What are some of the things that you need to finally admit to yourself a little piece of humble pie. It's not so easy to get down. But I'll tell you it's worth it cuz we don't want to be those curmudgeons when we're older unable to leave the house could because we need things to be a certain way. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. We are talking patterns this week. Join me. Check out my my staff guys reach out. Tell me about your fixed patterns. I want to hear that. I want to know from you and listen share this with a friend. We want to I want to let's do this. Let's get this out to more people and the only way I can do it really is by you sharing it because because this is the way of solo podcasts works. So thank you. Thank you for joining me and have a fantastic day go watch yourself with a fine-tooth comb and let me know what you find. Take care.

#16: MORNING MESSAGES | Waking Up Potential | Cara Bradley

"Welcome back my friend last. Episode, I went pretty far I think. You know just learning to be bold when I said out loud I see your brilliance and I do. And I thought well, you know I don't WanNa leave you hanging not that I think I would because you're brilliant right? But to give you some. Practical steps to actually start trusting yourself. And I will continue to talk about this. I think until I take my last breath. I think it's just what I'm wired to do. is to talk about how we learn to trust ourselves because the world's not going to do it for us. The world is not going to do it for us because most people don't trust themselves. So how could they model for you to trust? Yourself. I talk about this a lot in my book on the verge wakeup show up and shine I talk about how to access entrust our natural state. Of Clear Mind Bright Body and open heart. Today I just want to give it to you in a few minutes or less right. How do we start to drop down? Below that level of business. So, we can start to sense ourselves in a different way. So we can start to hear ourselves here those quiet whispers in our ear here, the impulse that rises up in the early morning or late at night. All of all day long your yourself your your intelligent self is whispering to you but we don't hear it because we're busy doing doing doing. We're busy thinking thinking thinking so. The first steps in beginning to trust your brilliance. is to. Cultivate. Or nurture inner silence. An inner stillness. We have to quiet the inner waters. In order to be able to see that clear reflection of ourselves in our most brilliant state. How do we do that? Inner silence inner stillness. So the best to do is just to start. On the outside. Right. We start with the outer silence in outer stillness, which is obvious and by the way of I'm GONNA put some links in the show notes to some longer podcasts since I'm committed to six minutes or less there's only so much I can get out But always check the show notes Khazal refer to other resources. So Real Quick Outer Silence Outer Stillness. We know right stop moving stop talking stop the noise. And then and only then can we begin to cultivate In nurse. Silence. The inner solitude. The inner quiet. The inner stillness. And so couple of ways to do that is just to be still with yourself and allow your mind to settle. Nature no doubt. One of the best ways to cultivate and to communicate with and to experience that in her silence an inner stillness get out in the woods get out to the beach, get out to your back yard and lay on the ground. Feel the Earth beneath you. The Earth has incredible healing qualities. We forget about. Rhythm. Rhythm is another way rhythm in a walk rhythm in Iran rhythm in a just even listening to rhythms. oftentimes can help to settle us so that we can start to tap into inner silence. Inner stillness meditation of Course Yoga. Tai Chi gung anything that's going to help us to shift our nervous system and down regulate from that heightened state of alertness to a more coherent. Harmonious State of being. So the way that we learned to start. Trusting. Our Brilliance. is to turn inward. And to start to become more quiet. And still inside. And then the Magic Oh boy does that magic begin? The fireworks start going my friend. And, you start to hear yourself. You start to hear the inner guidance that's been there always. All, right. That's enough for today. So I always end with a little ask a little call to action a little something to walk with me. Walk with me jump on facebook live Friday thirty you find me a Bradley Teacher Hey why not check out project be well, this is my monthly program. We're already registering for September. We it happened to every month and we really kind of go check all the boxes of the pillars of wellness and integrate the new science of the GUT brain connection. Big Stuff. #61: MORNING MESSAGES | Patterns

"Hey, hey. Hey, good morning. It's Carol Bradley coming to you with another morning message. I hope that you're enjoying these morning messages. I have to tell you I love these they feel right. It feels right for me to share just these little Snippets that I have. I have pondered over and over over and over and over throughout the years and Decades of my life. And I love the response that I'm hearing from you all as well. So thank you for that. And one last thing before we jump into today is what would be so helpful for me is if you shared a couple of episodes wage with a couple of friends, that's all let's just keep this stream-of-consciousness going because you're feeding me. I'm feeding you and this is how the world Goes Round Table. Thank you for that today this week. We're jumping into a big topic which are patterns. Our patterns specifically are mental patterns off and I'm just going to tease tease it out a little bit today and we will dissect it over the course of the week, but really our meditation practice or mindfulness practice. There's a way of becoming familiar with our patterns. That's really what this game is all about. It's noticing where we are and what we're doing. Most of the time as we know our busy mind is speeding so fast jumping like a monkey from tree to tree off. without Landing in pausing and noticing and so we practice mindfulness meditation to get to know what our busy mind is so busy doing to get to know what our habitual mental patterns are. And once we know what they are once we can Shine the Light of our attention on those patterns gave me then hold the reins to be able to start to change them. This is a huge right out there in the mindfulness world. So many people that just skim the surface think it's all about being present. Yes, of course it is but underneath that the root of it is looking at your habitual mental patterns. Emotional patterns becoming aware because those patterns really will lay down the tracks for the course of your life as we get older if we don't look at the patterns and know what is good. And what's not so good what's fixed and what's growth What's helpful? And what's not helpful in the world? If we don't look at them the grooves of those patterns grow deeper. They become habits. They become part of our personality and they could be destructive personally and interpersonally, what are my mental patterns? We're going to look at that this week. We're going to just start to take a peek and I've got to warn you it's not comfortable. It's like oh God you start to see the way that you control other people situations. Manipulate people situations you start to notice how you hold back Place Mall how you don't speak the truth how you try to convince other people for your own benefit? Mental patterns we have helpful ones and we have not helpful ones and it's important to know them all. It really is but it is uncomfortable to admit. You're unhelpful patterns. And this is we're getting quiet being still am noticing thought noticing emotion noticing your state of being. Will help you to get clear on how you want to live. Becoming aware of patterns is the first step to change. So one of the big patterns that I believe, you know, how long we all have actually the the the meditators of the past the stages have identified 52 mental patterns as as just Perpetual mental patterns that we all have. So we're going to play with a couple of them this week. So for today, I just offer you this question is what are my patterns? Just start to open your mind to them. What are my mental patterns? And will play with them this week. All right, that's it. I'm going to try to be really concise and keep it under six minutes cuz I've been cheating and see what happens when we cheat consistently. We just that just becomes the the norm right? So that's it for today. Check out the show notes. Join me. Join me in all of those links that I do for you there and I look forward to tomorrow. Take care. Have a brilliant day.

#87: MORNING MESSAGES | Free Body

"It's another fantastic day. Isn't it my friend. Thank you for joining me. We are stepping our pinky toes into the idea of being free. What it means today. I wanna talk to you about physical freedom. It's easy to start there right because we can get a sense of our bodies freedom in our bodies where we're stuck where we're not and what we can do about it. So let's talk about just for a moment yoga in the yoga sutras. There is a one of the early yoga sutras. It talks about yoga as Freedom or or the the act of the practice of removing obstacles that impede or hold back lifeforce prone ah chee energy right. So we want to investigate. Where are the obstacles that are holding back energy from her running through us. Like a freaking firehose right. A lot of us in. I off would often talk about this in class. A lot of us a walking brown life in a body that is like a Kinked up garden hose. You know what happens when our garden hoses. Get all la. You know twisted and nodded we get the drip drip drip of the water right. The water comes out in. You know in little drips and drabs and when we start to kink the garden hose the water flow starts to become more powerful. Many of us are just kicked up. Right i'm kinked up right now. I gotta tell you. I've got aches and kinks. I am not you know this perfect physical specimen by any stretch. But hey you know what we all got work to do. But when we start to recognize those kinks and wear those kinks are we can start to work with them. And that's the beauty of yoga. Practice is we can get so specific into those areas where we are tense tight and week right. So that's a superficial. That's what we can really look at in a practice in In anything that you do physically you can recognize okay. I'm tight here. I'm tense here. We hear those will all be obstacles to the flow of your power to the flow of product of Energy of life force. Moving through you. And when you're a tight tense in week in any areas you're just not gonna have as much energy as much creativity as much insight as much aliveness and as much physical freedom and energetic freedom and it goes down the road so we want to look at that right. Where are we tense tight end week. Also where we imbalanced. Physical freedom is is held back by our imbalances and our imbalances can be inflammation. My friends we are inflamed. We are inflamed culture and we want to look at where inflammation it leads right into disease and what we are. Learning so much about in science is that the inflammation starts in our gut. Gut imbalance microbiome imbalanced leads to inflammatory issues and that leads to mental issues. Right it leads to a whole host of stuff that will get to tomorrow but for today inflammation. Let's look there today where my inflamed. And if you're not sure go google it. Some of the symptoms of an inflamed body. It might be Anxiety and depression it might be Weight gain around your belly. It may be just a thyroid issues. I mean auto. Immune we can go on and on inflammation will hold us back from being free. Okay also any digestive issues bingo. You gotta start right there in your gut and we'll clean that up so not interst. Listen i've got six minutes. I can't get to all the solutions. I'm just giving you some Mile markers to look at in your own life then. Of course we have you know cardio issues if we've got high blood pressure or hypertension and the nervous system. If you're dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety than your nervous system and it all comes back to inflammation by the way right so physical freedom happens when we remove obstacles that are. That's holding back blood flow from rushing through our body full on blood flow full on energie full on Freedom from running through our physical body so we want look at the issues right. We've got the ground. Which is where am i tense titan week whereas where am i am flamed. What is holding me back and the path. What do i need to do to start. Removing those obstacles to start opening my body to start reducing the inflammation and the fruition. My friends the result is more freedom more energy more positively the freedom. My friends is being. Is that power to act speak or think without hindrance and restraint the freedom from the bondage of suffering physical freedom right. Let's just start there very simply. This is not about beating ourselves up. This is about empowering the hell out of our lives because when we start to remove those rocks in those obstacles watch out world. I have solutions right. I have practices galore. I have solutions galore. And they're all natural so. Please grab my mental fitness protocol in the link today. And let's start. Let's start playing together because this is all headed down the road to freedom freedom from the bondage of suffering. And when you're free. I feel more free around you. And this is how the world goes round. This is how he'd lift each other up. This is why i'm here. I love you. Thank you and i cannot wait for tomorrow take care.

#38: MORNING MESSAGES | Down To The Studs

"Good, morning my friend if you haven't listened to yesterday's episode, you may want to go in listen to that one first and then listen to this one but doesn't matter. It really doesn't matter either way. I am so happy that you're here. Today I. WanNa Talk to you about an expression that my meditation teacher Scott McBride would often use, and that is getting down to the studs. He would talk about as we go deeper and deeper into meditation, we start to get down to the bare bones of our mind and our patterns and our conditioning, and when we're able to get down to the STUDS and starting start to look at the root causes of our behavior. Then now we're getting somewhere now we can start to shift things down at the foundation of the building as opposed to always just picking out the weeds. So today, I wanNA talk to you about getting down to the studs of your health and mental wellness, and now it's a big topic for six minutes but I want to introduce this like I did yesterday to get you to start. Going deeper. We are polled right and left all day long by the media on what we should be focusing on and what we should be buying, and you know what was should be getting rid of and this and that, and so what happens is that as a culture, we end up at the surface level just jumping from one trend to the next one fad to the next where I live and where I've lived for many years is down beneath those trends and fads I wanNA. Learn I wanNA know the deep root causes of why I'm not feeling? Well, why I'm not performing? Well, why don't feel this way or sleep that way or digest? efficiently. So I'm encouraging you to do the same. To go down beneath the surface of the fats in the trends and to understand root causes and root systems of why. You may not be able you may not have energy in the afternoon while you may not be sleeping. Well, my y you may not be able to focus. Okay these are all. These are all conditions and there's there's a reason why so yesterday I talked to you about the microbiome, the Gut microbiome, and how it is not all in our head. Right the media will have us believe that it's all in our head and we need to just do these three tips and everything will be good. When in reality, our systems get thrown off balance our nervous system. Our immune system, our gut microbiome, and the GUT. microbiome is the environment of non human species of of bacteria and viruses and other things that when we have any kind of imbalance will throw off everything. And what what? Affects the microbiome and this is why I've come to this stress. Stress and yes pharmaceuticals and poor nutrition and and just being environmental factors will throw off the diversity are microbiome but specifically, the way I came through the door is through stress. When we are in chronic stress as I have been. And still find myself in and who could not be in chronic stress right now in this. I'm coming to you early September two thousand twenty. When we are living in stress, our heart rate variability is not optimal or heart rate is high. We are holding tension in our body and our mind. It affects deeply affects the gut microbiome and that intern. Throws everything off balance so I'm coming to you. And yesterday to start to use this especially if it's new. For you. I'm I am encouraging you to go deeper. To understand how to improve your gut microbiome, your gut environment 'cause that will change everything for you. It will increase your focus it will improve your sleep it will boost your mood it will increase your energy it will increase your capacity to be resilient stress resilient. It will also improve your immune system which we all need right now. So you can google it. I'm putting some links in the show notes and I. Want you to reach out to me because this has been my world for the last year personally. It has been where I've been living because of adrenal fatigue because of stress. I have been living in understanding and improving my gut microbiome. And I've been really feeling the effects in my mental wellness and I want to share that with you. So if you're. Just, reach out TM. Email. Whatever you need to do, find me on social media or just click through one of the links in the details and I look forward to exploring this with you. Let's get down to the studs and stop putting band AIDS on our health and mental wellness. Let's take it into our own hands and understand deep root cause of why we're feeling the way we're feeling. Thank you so much for being here, I. So love this journey that we're on and I appreciate you take care.

And now. Here's your host Kevin. Welcome everybody to another episode of facebook. Live and remarkable leadership podcast for a Monday both on as it turns out live through remarkable house tonight right and I am talking about a topic. No one wants to talk about so it seemed like the right thing to do you talk about the question or the title of tonight's facebook live is so who wants to be vulnerable anyway like no one wants to be vulnerable. I'll tell you what I started out by. There are a couple of words that people talk of talking about leadership these days like to talk about. They say leaders ought to be vulnerable and they ought to be transparent. So let's talk about transparent. I would like to weigh less but I I don't really like to be would like we don't really WanNa be seen through and being kind of silly there but there's a double digit letter word called transparent. It's sort of hard to think about but I think harder one also double digit in letters and that's vulnerable so to start with. I thought I'd read you. The definition from Miriam Webster vulnerable capable of being physically or emotionally wounded. Vulnerable open to attack or damage. Like who once that. No one wants that. No one wants to be emotionally wounded. No one wants to be open to attack or damage and that's why the people don't really want this and yet we often talk about the fact that ought to be done. We'll get to wide ought to be done in a second but let me just tell you. It's hard it's hard to decide. Hi that you WANNA do that. It's hard to open yourself up. It's hard to admit your mistakes Talk about your foibles. Notice have allow people to talk about or even give you feedback on your weaknesses. This is hard because as a leader first of all it's hard I period but as a leader. That's that's hard for us because there's this pressure that we're supposed to be doing something right. We're supposed to be leading people in the right direction. We're supposed we're supposed to have our ducks in a row. Our Act Act together and yet we're human just like everybody else and and so our ego gets in the way and as hard as it might be to be vulnerable ruble anyway. It's even harder here now on. Go back to that definition for a second and say capable of being physically or emotionally wounded open to attack jack damage like really so when I think and yet. That's the word that everyone's using. I'm going to scroll down in my dictionary here and say you know there's a little bit more the synonyms. Don't help us. Much exposed liable sensitive susceptible endangered open sensitive to an open to are the ones that probably are the easier ones for us to think about so. Let's say let's ask this question. Why so it's hard and we don't WanNa do it and we really would like to not have to do it? And yet the experts say we ought to be vulnerable. Why should we be vulnerable? Well because sharing our mistakes makes us real because Being vulnerable makes us human because being vulnerable in what might seem like an odd truth actually makes us more likable. I know that I struggle was like and I don't want to tell people what I'm not doing very well. We're I screwed up. Because then they might not like me and yet get when we are real. We are more likeable. And so why would that even matter for us as leaders. Because here's why because because at the end of the day we want to as humans we want to follow people that we know like and entrust. It's let's think about vulnerability around those three things when we are willing to be vulnerable. People are going to know US better. They're going to really have understanding of who we really really are. Were not some plastic facade number. Two they're going to probably like US better as I already said in number three when we're vulnerable when we're willing to admit our mistakes say we're sorry ask for forgiveness and all of those sorts of things that vulnerability ability does for us. It probably raises trust again. People want to follow people that they know like entrust and being vulnerable actually helps in in all three of those areas. It's hard there's no doubt and I don't know if it's harder for other people in for me but I know it's hard for me and I know in talking into other leaders that coaching leaders at sometimes something that's hard to do or it's it's SORTA doesn't come natural. We don't think that's what we ought to do. I want you to think about it this way. Who Do you want to follow? You want to follow the robot that seems to have everything together other and never seems to have a hair out of place. Do anything wrong even though you know that they do because they're human. Do you WanNa follow a robot or do you want to follow a real person. I believe you all WanNa follow a real person. Someone who maybe does have their act together. But it doesn't mean they don't have foibles. They don't have have failures. They don't make mistakes and they are in need of forgiveness sometimes and they are in need of understanding. Sometimes those are the people that we and follow that in spite of those things all of the other great things that they bring to the table lead us to say. I still want to follow that person. That's a person that I can believe in. That's a person that I wanNA follow it again. Leadership is about people choosing to follow right. So let's step back and look what we just talked about for about the last six minutes. We've said we ought to do this. Hard thing called be vulnerable. We've talked about why we ought to because it will actually help us be a more effective active leader and yet nothing that I have really just talked about is a skill is it. I mean like everything that I've just talked about is a mindset and a choice that we must make the. I'M GONNA decide to do this. I'm going to say it's not like I had to have more skill it to share my mistake or my foible. It just means I had to make a decision to do it. I already had the skills to do it. I just had to go do it. I had to be aware of the need need and I had to make a choice. So it's all about a mindset and not just about the skills and one of the reasons that I picked. This topic is for that very point so before I wrap up. I want to leave you with this idea. The idea that being vulnerable seems like a strange thing and it seems hard because it is. If you have trouble with that word how about using the word open we need to be open with our folks because when we are even though it's hard we'll get better results. People will choose to follow us. We will be more humble and we will get yeah more people to say I WANNA follow you. There is no such thing as a free lunch. #86: MORNING MESSAGES | Freedom

"Good morning good morning. It is cara bradley here bringing you your morning message. This quick snippet of inspiration. Hopefully a little motivation. A little poke or prod to help you. Look at your life and yourself deeply in six minutes or less which i do my best. I don't always get there. I hope to share what is streaming through me and there's a lot streaming through me right now my friend i am on a rampage of investigating freedom. The word the energy behind it my life where. I'm free where i'm stuck and i want to share this with you. I have no idea how long this rampage of freedom will go on. It could be a week. it could be a month. Who knows but. I am so excited so for today. We're going to keep it simple. I wanted to find freedom for you. Just as it has been laid out for me on the world wide internet. And and we're gonna pull it apart. Tease it apart and play with it over the next few whatever all right freedom is the power to act speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. Okay so it's you know that's pretty dry but it is powerful right power to act speak or think with as one wants without hindrance or restraint. It's the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved. I love that i that. If there's anything that did that has been the driving force for my life. It is the desire. The quest to yoyo awaken fully alive awakened fully alive. I based my whole book on it. How can we let go of dismiss rid ourselves of the obstacles that hold us back from feeling free and there. It is and we're going to investigate this. Because what the hell else do we have to do with our lives. I mean seriously right. Get get one more thing checked off the to do list. No frigging way. This is our investigation. How do we feel fully alive so for today it simply dropping freedom into our consciousness and starting to investigate as we will over the next coming weeks. Where am i not free. Where are my obstacles. What do i want to be free to do. And what am i already free to do. And we're going to look at this. From different aspects of physical freedom mental freedom energetic freedom emotional freedom psychic freedom will. That's going to be a juicy one financial freedom and interpersonal freedom. And there's more. I'm sure it'll come up and i'd love to hear your feedback as well so for me. I will tell you that. Investigating freedom is really the basis of practice. It's why i meditate. It's why practice yoga. It's why investigate. How my my relationships. Where am i stuck. Where am i free. What needs my attention today. You know we can't just break free of of obstacles that have been building up for decades. You know hey listen sometimes. Light switches go off and we break through. You know. I had a couple of those laws this week. Actually some take a little bit more excavation. So are you willing to investigate this with me. Are you willing to go down these rabbit holes and investigate where your stock where you're weak. What's tense what's blocking you where you're already free because that energy will will carry you. That energy of freedom will carry you down some dark rabbit holes to unlock right. Last week it was unblock unfold unleash to unblock unfold unleashing in other areas so this is all interconnected. I love practice. Because it's constantly showing us our own practices constantly showing us a pathways to go down and this is what keeps things simple. So fresh and a merchant in our lives. Oh this is so good. I love this. So i'm going to leave you with my tattoo. My tattoo is a celtic trinity. Not on my right breast. And i got it when i was forty eight years old and It came through. I don't know sounds kind of we will. But i saw it in a meditation and i went out and got it and for me the celtic naught represents. Excuse me for me. The celtic not represents the same script word mukti. Mu katie i which is a reminder to that there is a way of living that is free beyond the bondage of suffering freedom beyond the bus bondage of suffering right. So i'm just gonna kinda leave you with that. There is a way of walking through the world that is that is free that is beyond suffering and That bondage that holds us back so we are going to investigate all of these aspects of freedom. And i can't wait. I'm jumping out of my skin to do this with you. That's it for today so digest a little bit of freedom and look around notice where you are free already because you are. We are so blessed. Thank you for joining me. Thank you always for joining me. If you think that you there somebody in your life that could use some freedom. Hey share this with them. Go share this episode. And let's get on this journey together take care.

UFYB 88: Complaining

"London's on some you're brain see only podcast you how do you do semitism and so there's rewire your brain in get what you want in life and now here's your host harvard law school brad reminisce rockets are masters code harlow in style low my chicken how are you all today are you feeling amazing if you think you are not selling anything you think the world is not amazing i want you to get it out of your system right now because today we're going to talk about complaining an i love this topic because it's really deceptively simple most of us think that we don't like complainer right we talk about how other people so negative or they have such bad attitudes right we've all done that whether were talking about a co worker or friend or family member but guess what we are doing when we do that we are being negative and having having about out of range complaining it's something we all claim to dislike and other people but most of us are complaining all the time now sometimes we know where complaint right when we say things like i hate my job there's just no one good to date just feeling really discouraged my partner doesn't help enough from the house my kids there's some messy my parents don't support me right we think these are facts pressure we don't realize they're optional thought but we do were describing things that we think are negative but often we don't even realize when were complaining because a lot of the time when we are complaining we think we're just stating facts like the weather is gross today have a ton of work to do that person is out of touch another date ghosted me my facebook ad final isn't working we we don't think were complaining because we think we are just describing things that are true and justify ashley was hanging out with a coach friend a friend who's also a coach rather not be other week really a couple of weeks ago and i said something in her about complaining and then she was complaining and she said no i don't complain i'm negative but i don't complain right when i said i don't think there's a difference what do you think the difference is she couldn't come one because there isn't one when you're indulging in you're negative thoughts and you're voicing them yourself or others you are complaining i think we kind of delude ourselves sometimes because the word complaining sounds sort of trivial like it's not a big deal so we think if we're talking about something big unimportant it's not complaining like if i say i have some kind of elements like i had lyme disease or my partner cheated on me or my mother never loved me right doesn't it might just be clear ray but like if we had this thought we don't think those are complaining because we believe our own thoughts and we think they are very serious right and we think complaining is trivial so i think hide from are solves a lot of different ways or complaining if it seems like it's just a fact were standing if it's like a big important thing but if you're thinking or expressing a negative opinion you are complaining now i'm not saying that you shouldn't complain plane you get to decide what to think right so it's up to you you wanna complain you got but i think it's really powerful start paying attention to how often you complain because when you do you're going to realize that you are complaining all the fucking time seriously like all the time most of what you are unmanaged mind things most of the thoughts you come up with unintentionally are complaints 'cause you're brain praying especially you're lizard brain right what we call the primitive part of your brain things at the main job is to point out to everything that's wrong anything that could potentially be a threat right and that means a threat to your emotional or physical health so you're brain basically is constantly looking came from what's wrong and should be different so why is this a problem first of all it just doesn't feel great when you complain you're basically whining and why feel like whining right it's unpleasant the listen to when somebody else wines if unpleasant listen to same is true for yourselves it feels kind of depressing and grimy end needling annoying right even when you're doing it to yourselves just imagine how it feels when you know you're around kids who are lining the second problem with whining is that it just teachers you're brain over and over to look for and focus on what the negative what you think is negative right pun action you're brain gets into complaining loops and habits and then in cognitive bias kicks in and you just seeing more and more of whatever you're complaining about and third and maybe most insidious i think because it's so subtle complaining involves a heavy dose of self pity complaining is like the gateway drug to fall on victim when we're complaining were really thinking porn me i don't deserve this everything would be better if this thing with different right i don't like the way things are byron katie or says when you argue with the reality you lose but only a hundred percent of the time man complaining is arguing whether reality feels terrible and i think sometimes we also do it ourselves because in the moment complaining can feel good from minute right if feels like inventing quote unquote and if we can get someone else to agree with all of them were invalidated but ultimately it doesn't feel good if you notice like how you feel physically energetically after you've done a lot of complaining usually feel physically pretty low rate like the energy is kind of been sucked at it because you've just been producing irritation of frustration or no answer sadness herself penny like all these negative emotions in your body from complaining and you're right and so that's why i think self pity it's so insidious right and it's very different from south kindness compassion we actually were just having a really interesting discussion about this and the clutch the other day and i sort of like we're like running out over the thought work which is my favorite 'cause i am not work nerd and i liked talking about all day but the difference boils down to whether the emotion feels tying into whether it feels nice weather it feel sad self pity it sat right feel sad and complaining is on the way the self pity so i think there are a lot of good reasons to stop or reduced you're complaining it's a pointless use of energy it prime derain front negativity it feels terrible to you ended just empowers you so there's really nothing good about the knicks obvious question is how do we stop when i have a client the complete a lot i like to prescribe complaining that only kind of died i recommend i'm gonna teach it to you guys and that there's a reason this podcast is so short is that i don't want you overcomplicate this or tried to over think it i just want you to practice complaining less and see how that feels so here's how complaining diet works you just stop complaining like that's it but it is way harder than it sounds i would say that my ambitious clients think they're gonna start out with twenty four hours and they usually make it about seven minutes before they complain complaining is so second nature of the us but it's actually quite challenging the stock so you're the rule you don't complain not yourself not other people not you're journal not tier cat you don't complain about anything or anyone including including yourself self critical thoughts or thoughts you think are just facts about yourself better negative are also complaining now obviously you cannot stop assad from coming into your mind right that's why i don't teach that thought work involved not thinking certain things in order for you're brain to see if you're thinking something are not it has to think right so we don't work on not thinking things we work on thinking the things we wanna think we don't work not thinking things we'd all right so the complaining diet doesn't mean you can't have a negative thought for twenty four hours or seven minutes we can't prevent the original thought from coming up especially 'cause right now you've trained you're raina complain but when this all comes up if you are doing a complete diet you just dismiss it you don't engage it earned daljit it's off limit right it's like you see someone you're walking when you're partnering you see someone on the street near monogamous you look at them you might register they're cute and then you're like that's it you don't run over and make out with them right you don't ruminate about how hot they were and how what's the next chance you could try to jump up and make out with them you don't engage indulge it pays off limits you just tell yourself oh were not complaining today around complaining this hour whatever it is and you move along okay so the thought comes up and you're like no rock i think that because here's the thing here's what happens you guys a negative thought a complaint comes up and then you in gauge it right so you're brain might say my boss is so annoying and if you are not paying attention what you do is you start having a conversation about that with your brain right you're like oh yeah he is so annoying here's this annoying thing he did today and not annoying thing he did yesterday in the week before and remember that time we talked about how annoying he was that with also annoying right you like engage the thought you make out with that you sort of 'em sometimes i think it's like often we've had a sequence of thoughts at all go together so it's it's like we press play and we watched the movie right where we like yearly audio of all those thoughts so the thought may come up their bosses annoying but if you're trying this complaining diet you just see it and you're like oh we're not doing that what am i thinking about instead right you don't engage with it you definitely do not voice if there's someone else or text it to someone else or write it down even if it's on a hidden post it note that you are just fondling under your desk no complaint fondling so when you start trying this you are going to fail almost immediately that's okay it took me a long time to work up to twenty four hours without complaining the good news is it's easy very cheap endurance sports but you can't start at any time it's free so if you set out not complain front our and you make it first six minutes that's fine you just start again remember it's not whether a complaint comes up in your brain rights authorize we can't control their first appearance we can overtime reduce it by creating new narrow circuits but we can't push it away or control whether it's whether you waive the thought along or you stop and engage with it and have a whole conversation with that and think more about it and find more evidence for it she said out loud definitely a restart right so that's her homework for the week if you find it really challenging you are not alone totally normal and learning how to manage your mind is really what changes the default patterns of your brain from complaining all the time right from negative to positive and that's what we are doing in the clutch right it really takes consistent accountability and support to rewire your brain so i want you to come join us turned me working on Ep 384 - The Nightmare Before Christmas, by Tim Burton (Bonus Episode)

"This is a head gum podcast sairy plus these books you should have read by now How Holloway Hey everybody welcome to Overdo it's a podcast yes so we are here live with our patron chat supporters but we are here to also talk about a book that we both read this month Tur- Burton full full name that's very art so this is going to be a foam we don't normally listen I've become an expert Oh that's true you do have a child because after bedtime Henry will let thing a decent amount about the movie but we figured that there was since there was it's as we go Andrew during the Bush Shou the Pumpkin when something creepy is happening so people know to yeah we did last year even though are like full screen? DVD version of it is not three ninety three yes not directed by Tim Burton because he was busy with Batman there's so that includes music from Danny Elfin yet like Kathryn Harrah's in yes like trick or treating kids so this is I it was directed by Henry Celik Describe Tim Burton's like signature style what would it be because for me I would say joint like take it like a scoop of something like the way that ups and maybe some houses or all at crooked and stuff the film was released under the touchstone pictures label originally which sort of adult movies that they weren't sure wanted like the Disney the movie and and we'll talk about the book mainly but it's going to require a lot of Shen short film called the called well which films like six minutes long narrated by Vincent Price who you also and so after this came out and us when we talk about the book whatever but he envisioned it sort of as a TV yes he he was that was the main eighty four yes I think Beatles use Batman Movie Yeah Okay Yeah and then once he once nineteen ninety he came back to Disney with all his clout intact and he took a week of work and there's over a hundred and ten from Disney's perspective in an animation perspective Yuccas this was you know ninety two ninety three is urgence of Disney's traditional animated Yes films which included Little Mermaid Asian so yeah they wanted to keep doing experiments and keep doing interesting animation but Greens but still did pretty well for all of that and developed a substantial roar best visual effects and it was the first animated film to Be Nominated Gory I think so a lot of like creating that stuff and yeah offit notice that I had been googling nightmare before Christmas already but one question that you got kids and then it auto filled for me why to goth kids any goths slash rockstars worship this movie nightmare before Christmas it's an okay movie is just copycats then there's the Jack Mania anyone who is so called Gothard I won't mind like I'm going to buy NBC poster because I think it looks cool fun so no definitive answers like all the yahoo people are like why just another typical Burton drug movie you can only appreciate them of your high then somebody I'm an but not much by way of explanation yeah I want the founder of I want twenty ten like nightmare before Christmas's subsidizing their fun co Pop Audi Chris certified by proclaiming hocus pocus to be removed from online so much for the tolerant left a wo- gotten name but Salem went to our college is what I'm saying because I didn't see it when I was out because I had kind of a sheltered early we all the way through the move she loves she likes hocus pocus pretty good on like how Christmas Rudolph the red nose reindeer aw inspiration from you can see that DNA like throughout the early Disney lobbied to have Jack Skeleton Skelton Jacks count is that he has he is the original funk oh he's way too tall Tim Burton was like dog stop it and he won and giving him a like a very expressive brow like he still has yes he's a very big is and it's still expressive so yeah well should we get wins and then what we are reading is the twentieth anniversary release don't I can find no evidence this book existed before this so I don't know if there is another version that you can get that I think recorded some narration that was ultimately not used in the film Christmas and it rules because it's Patrick Patrick sewer in the early ninety s at after twenty years and adding a few additional illustrations has been a special experience. I hope you enjoy the new edition from what I'm so they're like you know you know I mean sack okay watch out chat all right it's gone great let's just is now in the movie he is the Pumpkin King yes and he runs Halloween town and he you know that it's a monarchy or Halloween town's a weird place seems to have absolute authority over every decision that gets made yes I think last time home I'll all a Gordie maybe ex- Kellington and he is sick a Halloween he's just town in the movie how in town in the movie interest sure yeah so he's just dancing those and my feet hurt from dancing those skeleton dances I don't like graveyards and I need something new to said some of this sounds to pay bills Yup true true true and then he we meet hi to now it's his it's a great questions the tombstone does say zero on it so whoever's King and the king is more of a figurehead some sort I up for just to be a figurehead so these first couple pages feel very much grinch stole Christmas friend but he kinda like yeah there's some like where where zero pops in some way but the the end result like the impact on the story around in the woods of Halloween land looking very sad Day dolorous Sam in the trees and in the book there are only three Eggnog Andrew do you remember what the other while land to celebrate a holiday or is it just the Christian holidays so there according to the Wiki that I went to there are it's Halloween is like Christmas town which will go to there's Valentine's Day town there in America centric Larry Yes Christian Center now Independence Day town also appeared so you know yeah and so people in the chat Chinese New Year Town Douala town I think the Groundhog Day town is just the movie in town yes eight tonight they might they make for some fun town Yeah Mold Day town walk me day is different but mole day is about the chemistry unit early that would be fun okay we're GONNA be hanging out in Baloney Day town which is October you could go to men make Dinner Day town which is the first Thursday of for Dis Day town that's my favorite James Bond film actually this oh I did like Donut International Dona during the day I forget what it's like the actual name for it I gotta sticker from the Federal Donuts missed it missed it Sarah suggests for twenty town which have you been to are your thing is it just can four twenty town thing like is it a town where it's five o'clock somewhere and somewhere as their Yo be bored Jack five o'clock Ington he would be board that it was five o'clock all the time is like a figurehead yes at route that rules it I guess well Asia and Yeah Independence Day towns Prankul Sam right that's guilt people into going into the armed forces just like going around pointing at him and looking celebrate four twenty while we were there so the thing that I was good at John Back to the story of today he and everybody's Got Candy Oh that's portal that he falls you that's the that's the thing boop boop Ubu which might I think that is the Elf menaced yes it really manner and are we supposed to

#63 - War of the Spark Set Review Part 1

"Low good day everyone it is time for another episode of magic the final frontier on this podcast we talk about the frontier format keep their listeners update with what is new interesting an powerful in the world the frontier end we are having are most fun time of the year when we could talk all about spoiler so if you missed last week's episode we talked a little bit earlier about some of the spurs coming out of war the spark discussing thirty five of the thirty six thirty six and thirty seven planes walkers which were spoiled a one of them is missing at the time an this week were gonna move fun hopefully talk about all of the cards and the sat media is a two parter here so this should be part one of part two of four of the spoilers were the spark spoiler season and i'm joined by my co hosts ryan a huge fan habeas at a yoga have a hand and those mount vernon excited to be here for one of my favorite episodes i always look for disease and were the spark ism is specially exciting time so yeah yeah i'm hoping to see some cards that are ex and make some impact and frontier and i think that will will see some things worth discussing if nothing else so i actually kinda wanna say like just in all my time kind of playing frontier and being a part of the community i think this is the most exciting that that's ever come out like in a post frontier announcements world from me like it's interesting i see the power level being quite high i don't see a lot of things slot directly into the decks i already know exit so maybe that's interesting leaves it needs everything's gonna get shaken up but i also think that some of these old decks are gonna change all that much so i gotta see where this goes kind of what you there but i think like for me i see a big shakeup from the icy like multiple new to one decks emerging from this that i think we might actually get some some new types is well maybe i want her to new ones i'm expecting like they're there to one ducks before wordless sparkling arm to one ducks anymore that i'm hoping his true 'cause i know the strong through index up there that i wouldn't mind seeing having napping take down in back so let's start with the one thing we missed when we recorded i think was last monday so this was before the lessons for this come out you only planes planes walker missing was nurse at porter avails and here again i've gotta complain a you know they did they revealed nine parts of a cycle rigas for parts of cycles the fifth one they had eight points walker and every color the color they've been pretty dark and she's won two of the color for no particular reason so nurses fremont on bloop a five loyalty and each ponant can't draw more than one card each churn and she has any ability minus two look the top four cartier libraries reveal unknown creature now my card among them and put it into your hand put the rest of the bottom in any kind of like an impulse yeah so it's an impulsive could only find non creature known man yeah so kind of old nurse that could find what do you think powerful there's a lot of power in this card but i don't know where it fits so and we would need a car a deck is willing to turn three still be home for card vented which is a little bit tough in front good any d h houston and i see this is strictly side work hard put their name but will you wanna play at forty past yeah you pretty much i think this is the kind of card that like if you're in spells matter like a kind of controlling non creature deck and you don't have great ways to deal with a ascendancy really is a big one i i think this is this is an excellent excellent answer that i have a hard time i mean otherwise this is a slow sorcery speed divination right so i'm not i'm not like super enthralled with the drawing two guards off of this is not diminish what if you're trained a what if you try combo very i mean if you're digging for two parts of you're combo maybe or hey what if you're playing this and ascendancy digging for you're ascendancy andrew sylvan awakening i dunno man i don't see a main deck of blood i think there's just so many good ways to get carded manager index filter in frontier a three man of sorcery speed a lot pass for the effect certainly what about what about building around her passive do you think that it's worth doing something like building a deck and a lot of wheels and then expecting you're born in knoxville withdraw because of them there'll be pretty sweet i don't know if we have good enough wheels 'cause a lot of them are i dunno days i'm doing at freeman we have the seven men and women to podcasts instant hit that origins car that players draw seven tards right yeah those ideas on do okay yeah and you know you could play it on your opponents turns he's got the ferry you know i don't honored percent he thought i'm kind of interested to see what someone could do with that mike and i got the talent me it's it's not a not look at tiered strategy but it does sound like a giant good i i could really enjoy like on their drop step truffle other hand there library and they draw nothing yeah yeah well you dropped seven okay all right well let's talk about the real tired okay i mean it's pretty real deployable ones are so we're gonna go kind of bloomberg order which means were starting width colorless i'm so we had no colored lands in this set a i mean i guess technically we had a reprint to be plaza commit called amount of but all of the lands are are non colored essentially but there's some good ones here so i'm just throwing out here we've got emergency zone and untapped cola's landing and pepper colored mana you pay one happened sacrifice and then for the rest of the turn cast spells as though they had flash yeah i like it 'em but what what is it do window would you want to use the semi 'cause if you're playing with all of these with all these lands will discuss it's hard because i feel like there's not a lot of room for utility lands right now you know we are ending up playing i feel like more to in three color decks and we were before and it just gets tough to have the requirements were and still be able to play a lot of these things and if you do have a couple of lots of tender go things like feel i feel this could possibly be a combo piece like something to maybe make cheerios or either flux reservoir maybe a little bit a easier to go off you know like you're playing a lot of just blue and white cards in this okay and it turned out you sack this and then you go away churchill churchill gain all this life you know fifty damage that sort of thing i dunno so to me this is bad for the same reason that liquor dominance is bad and that is just it's not worth two men anna card to cast you're did then half the cast spells out in the speed right but electric diamond at the scene modern play yeah supposedly doing a unfair things there that it it it looked like i said any any a podcast review that card yeah it's only good when it's cheating on manners or cheating on some ruler another yeah so how about something like kearns bastion that one is also on tap lampkin pepper coalesce foreign tap reporter liberate i mean if you're playing a any kind of tokens say counters deck or you know any kind of playing soccer look i think he maybe one at least one of these so through their big no no no i was just kind of sighing because it's tough yeah it is stuff there's it's it's the first time we have pulled over eight in frontier and there's gonna be decks that could take advantage of it i think they're probably gonna want this card maybe not for but at least like a one off i mean after grants repeatable proliferate is but that that a lot of opportunity cost of it not being like a colored land in like five minutes really afraid is a it's a it's a lot ask some yes i liked untapped but it makes it tough because if i'm thinking of something like harden skills i've got a lot of one man in green spells i kinda wanna be able to have that covered manner right away that makes it tough i'm also i feel like with those kinds of decks my problems not usually that oh i don't have enough counters on my guys usually that i ran out of do the ran out of gas and they killed my one walking ballista whatever and now don't have anything i'm just gonna be you know a snake in combat in that doesn't do anything they kicked me in lots of colorless or like a model color with colorless courage that mcgrane blacker something maybe have like see idea of you know a construct tribal back sort of bouncing around the fringe there and i feel like this card definitely label there yeah okay women have to build bellator 'cause that's really exciting and they played a lot of walker next kurt so i'm gonna move onto the next one with mobilized district so i always love man lands and this one is coalesce mainland it's untapped land contempt for colorless where you pay for and it becomes eight three three citizen creature with vigilance until end attorney but still land andy costs one left hughes if each legendary future and things walker you control yeah this could actually be free i think you know streets safer free it's pretty nice i i think it's really ambitious the thinking of it as free but i think you could reasonably get it down to like three or two and like you could you could expect back that pretty much which i think is late which is this at least walk overweight like i don't think he'd be playing with a lot of a by legendary creatures especially in france either all three colors i tend to agree i think it's a plane's walker that guard yeah no i think it's okay there yeah i think you and i were discussing you know what i really like is he played with something like the ferry and then you activated and they can't kill kill it because you know they can't federal pushes if you've got the ferry and playing games this weekend that sounds really doesn't really nice yeah and i like the interaction a lot so yeah i think this will see play i think is pretty good okay i'll left one wants to talk about maybe the best one here is blasting zone so this one enters what they charge counter on it also untapped and pepper coalesce x x x cards church connors on it and then three in sacrifice it in tap and it destroys each non land permit with converge monica equal to a number of church on it so this works a lot like the way engineering explosives does but it's as land you know it's free yeah yeah so i think like is this is you're big draw into like a to color control so you're you're white blue you're blue black and i think i think it seems pretty pliable probably not so what about what about el drowsy i don't think you know we have all cell drawn these problems is is mostly where i'm at and you know they always had a lot of really good utility land they would be someone that could easily dropped three for these into that cannot be badly affected by it absolutely but i mean like it's really all they always had good utility lands right that's not the drowsy are struggling because they have they don't have good lands you know let's so yeah i think that's a problem if we yeah that's flabbergasting yeah easily blossom yeah probably by some are were gonna move onto the rest of lumbergh which is white a where do we wanna start with so we've got a white miss sicker to we haven't talked about if you wanna go there and i talked about it too oh yeah oh you always talk about a ryan it's tokens i'm the token guy so it took took a guy from japan but a yeah a you know we've had oaken japanese guy we we we've had a what was the what dragging the turk here a secure the ways you know it's it's being fleeced before it's like well currently talking about finale of glory you gotta rita talk about you gotta see that's another great x to to white soldier pitcher tokens with vigilance at the x is ten or more you also creates x for for white angel pitcher took his client vigilance so so this is the cycle the cost axe and to will be relevant color this one of the white ones who x white white so basically you're you're you're getting a low forty sixty power if you cast expert to if the excess ten focus that would be aiming ramp deck but let's talk normal use cases yeah we haven't casting this remount i'm gonna go to yes absolutely not i why would be in in light token stack tokens died so many one damaged cells even i will not okay playing a gray over i mean i think i think the floor has to be forming a two two stray dog that's their plan yeah as a plan i'm not in love with that so yeah that's that's kind of where i'm going with that is that this is eight tokens card that can't be cast robots informa which means it's competing with gedeon it's competing with soaring it's computing with annoyed procession it's computing where you are a million things that for five monitor the tokens i would love to play i dunno i think the green white token stack that sell some play last season was actually all right then put up any really good finishes but i think a lot of potential and i think this is gonna slide into that that very well i mean there's so many cars of form in december regularly anyplace reform anna yeah but that's a slot you're gonna have to put then right when you're talking about building the duct building cost is another four drop so like you're you're looking at this lesbian a center would be a good fit for that kind of slot gideon soren all the ones like think just said you know i think i think maybe it's a certain type of green white then that could sit in i mean greenway tokens not so much the one you're thinking of you know that has the the how do i say a you know like the center and stuff like that but more just like a pure ramps go wide strategy so something like what crypto lift right yeah or other one 'em plus plus why paralyzes so yeah there's a summer fraleigh in his also now one of the planes walker said the same yeah i'll say john you yeah yeah i i actually i don't think this is garbage i don't think i don't think you could make a good token stack the also ramps within like giving up too much i think it's tougher and i think you could put this in the show that accelerated it's man i happen to be in white 'cause i think like even if you're just gonna make like five to two is not a bad right you guys remember the green white wrapped deck 'em i believe it was in on link cats came in towards the end of the season and no maybe yeah but i know i was playing something then mom and talk about the other mythic that we have in wiping i wanna talk about which is godfrey attornal etc so this is also cycle just one five minute free three six double strike zombie god legendary creature and whenever you kathy creature spell you created for for black zombie warrior creature with vigilance and whenever she dies was put in exile in the battlefield you could put on top of his own his library third in the top so all the guys have that you know you're gonna talk some third in the top the comeback after some point you know it's not carded vintage likely a the ones that were buttons at least doesn't really die and what about the so this is the fight is small so it it doesn't do nothing because it is a three six double strike the can attack and block on its own but you really wanna play a bunch of creatures which is a little bit awkward so i'm kind of torn on this along the gods really 'cause like it's the most literally five minutes sorcery speed 'em this one doesn't impact the board right away a body is pretty good so three six double strike is nothing to scoff at even that five men be pushed 'em but at the same time it's kind of like trades one for one with the removal but on the other hand that's a lot of inevitability mhm right like it's very bad against counters though which makes it kind of awkward you know you want the evidently in its control what if they can get one essence got her on and then she's going i mean yeah i guess that's kind of alternative to rank as it who do you want inevitability against probably the deck has made the deal with this so yeah i dunno it i wouldn't be offended deceive people plan as like a winner to us by the way i think it's more of i think it's a fun of all right why don't you guys reid one of the mosques after kill my voice three in that regard all right i'm gonna i'm gonna jump right in here and go to gideon triumph so it's one white one colorless instant target opponent sacrifices a creature that attacked or block the turn if you control and getting on planes walker player sacrifices two of those creatures instead that's that's another cycle we are a whole lot of either the said yes i think this one's pretty good yeah this one's definitely a little bit more variables and other unix so you know you just hit their copter enough the creature the crude at a things like that are nice about this yeah i think i think of all the one all the whole cycle the trend cycle requires really the secondary effect requires you to have a plane's walker of that type in play i think gideon's often the hardest to remove yeah and there's the most play a ball at loma costs that that certainly yeah so i think if you're gonna rely on if you're ever gonna like factor in having a plane's walker on board when you evaluate occurred i think this is the trying to do it was i really like in model white girl like you just keep the pressure and if they put any creatures downey cast is they lose the board well that that is awkward still because if they're just you know they're planning a blocker you still can't just kill it and get through it wasn't that's really what why would love to have well why feel like she sat without for damage though right sure you're gonna have a second for them they still got the block and you know really that's what they're trying to do against your deck so sometimes that's that's not exactly the kind of removal so i think there's almost is more of a control card right so the the ducks were interested in blessing alliance right if they have some gideon's in the mix there might be interested in this so they don't have gideon's in the mix this is just a lot worse and bless it yeah absolutely absolutely but if they do have gideon's they might be persuaded and try those carta okay so it might it might see some fringe play here and there you know it's probably a c for doing some kind of rating like that yeah i think it's i think it's a solid label keep keep it in mind russell could we talk about tomic tomac a distinguished advil kissed us oh this guy's to white free to three flying human adviser and he's got lens on the battlefield landsman graveyard campaign targeting those abilities reporters control and you're pulling can't play land kertzman some graveyard so i don't know how much the rest of that tax matters you know unless if they're trained a field of ruin you maybe but it's a two three flying human to is that something that's interesting so layer guy yes advil if he's legendary creature human adviser and i don't know i mean i think he's fine but like the body's not that exciting you know it's kind of like i i think you count on need the tax event to be worth listen frontier i don't think it really does anything so i mean i do like that if you could get him one plus one plus one from soleus lieutenant or and always watching a three four flyer in frontier is a pretty good standing yeah i mean you're not wrong about that i'm just kinda like it i'm lukewarm instead doesn't really okay even even if you're a player like you're not playing fern exciting reason you know i think he'll become irrelevant in future sets the sounds like we don't really have a lot of destruction yet but i'm guessing there's gonna be land destruction coming right i don't have anything else really in white house that i need to talk about i wanna know about yeah i wanna talk about something you guys a race no idea race it mirrors getting erase gideon sacrifice oh yeah we we don't even talk so bad warner talking about plot here no man how is that not a card that totally like create a new type of deck crew indiana inch one instance choose a creature planes control damage that would be built this turn to you or permits controls delta that sherman chosen permanent instead so yeah you play with like a video to life payment card with they set up cost and kurt disadvantages a conditional life student who is this is not something that you would play when you're gonna tax you this is something that is not something i would play you play this with a card like a mad cap experiments you cast it targeting one of you're permanence before you cast that and then you know you're hold back with madcap player you're win con you get the win khan and then all that dams gosta that creature or or players that are sorry planes walks instead or the new black card six men a black card that you guys well that's that that brings all these cards were spending three cards to get a win calm and i don't think so there's an artifact win coming from that just wins the game right away okay okay okay i have i have a plan i have a plan guys yeah so i don't know how we're gonna do it you were gonna deal twenty damage to her selves over gonna use us on through fire captain yes yes exactly exactly as another idea this is beautiful jank but i think it is jack yes okay okay so we will talk about some fun things have become bruin frontier later but i think but let's move on the color of the sake of time so i wanna talk about buddha a so let's go blue here where we going to start with a reprint here with author of bullets and so this is the car people know a if they won in a blue four one three in the play you look at the bottom three cards elaborate no so you look at how because the library if instead of sorcery among them put her hand you put the rest of the bottom and i advocate charles dickens it'd be playing this having a wider moments i see to me this is this is a very standard card and when i say that i mean it does good things and has like a body the yeah it's about the great blocker awesome it does some cool things but the power level and these auctions especially at instance speed begin to grow yeah it becomes it's not bad it's just like control wants to spend their time better you know it it it becomes not consideration you definitely yeah i think there's also so i i'm not even sure if the standard blue black and full that he's playing quite enough hits just because of where like the blue black white controls like you know you're playing the ferry you're playing search razz can't you're playing gear whole none of those things could be hit by this and that makes it a a little bit off for me but you definitely would play this over at anticipates or something right i i agree i don't think you should be playing anticipating frontier yeah so i i think the other awkward thing is that one power is not very good in frontier it's frontiers become exceedingly harsh true x ones and you know between chain were earlier between valley on a so it tends to just be that usually x ones don't see much play so i don't think the other bullock is gonna be killing very many things in combating even blocks and say i i do expect people to play this i don't expect it to be a lot of people are paying it as like the next big thing but i think a lot of those people are looking pass standards and how they play in those standards but i think again it's it's it's seen play is a function of car pool being limited right i so ryan i don't want you to think that were shutting down you're fun ideas why don't you pick another blue card for some reason it out a really careful blues it'd be honest but highly moody all right so i guess guide eternal cast net was one card that i kinda liked so okay so this one's the cheapest one format on legendary creature zombie god yes this is eight four five with flying an at the you reveal the first car you drive each turn and as you drive a year you can reveal it if it's in instead of sorcery you can pass the copy of that spell bell for two left lanes blocked and it's got that talk ability yeah i think this is a great card for maybe like a process or like a burned deck on the top ends like a blue red oh interesting trip burn sort sort of thing you like nick double copies or even like the thermal alchemists type back you know what i mean like you have that this guy's on the top end and you're doubling all you're you're shock so you're doubling you're lightning strikes or something like that and you're getting six ten inch plus two more damage off of this era for wall or whatnot so i think there's there's a lot better things to play well at santa anita hill response in burn that's all i kate the body i think i'm pretty happy with a four five flying for for the blocks pretty much anything relevant so i'm not upset with this i think it will find a place to see play but i don't see any obvious decks at one that right now i think this is like barely play of well i think it's a lot worse than people are giving it credit for because it kind of suffers like all the gods are they they're sorcery speed a lot of them don't impact the board when they come into play and they trade one for one with removal and then this guy doesn't even necessarily draw card next turn the turn after like is there yes so he's he's bad with counter spells his bat flip planes walkers which i feel like i would like in any kind of mid range do you believe back yeah he feels like he wants to be like i feel like there must be forman of planes walkers even just do the job this guy's looking to do right would you put him in a new deck as well like thanks to the edge double nail for like fourteen in one ticket that sure is a lot of upside when you hey you're you're cards but a yeah i dunno i think he's i think he's strictly okay i'm like i think i think you could play on because he'll come back and that's pretty cool and yeah necessities format of extra kind of make some awkward you can't you can push him which if you're you know control beckons you're only push target that's pretty bad so it'll be interesting i don't know where he'll see play but i don't think he'll never see play in front of you know i don't expect indices here one play how's that seems to make is how about these other mythic you only other neither one of these cycle cards here we've got finale revolution x blue blue draw x card and if it's tender more a year shuffle you're a driver but grigor near library you went up five land and you know maximum hand size you eggs salad i think now this this one definitely i don't see any reason to go for the had are more like a top five lens isn't gonna win you the game probably yeah yeah i mean i mean by the time you're drawing ten card so you're whereas the rest of these cinelli cycle be if you petr more basically just says if you tana more you win the game i mean i think i think in the kind of deck that wants to draw like ten cars off that's the that's the same thing as winning the game short but drawing nine cards is probably what yeah yeah i i just think like x value in this one scales better than any of these other finale is okay okay i don't think this is good i i don't this is such a weird card 'cause like i feel like we got a lot of stuff that just can't be countered sat in this feels like one maybe should have had that 'cause like anytime you're going for them you know you're the huge car draws sorcery speed with an x ray they'll just like i just wanna top everything right on top out at sorcery speed and i feel like you're just gonna get download if you do that well speaking of can't be countered commencing endgame is another a you know kind of gear hold option so this is a six man instance it can't be countered you draw two cards and then a math x x number of parents in her hands reminder on amasses first and the mentioned in this episode is making zombie as users i mean you put experts oneplus encounters on it or if you already had one of these army zombies then you put those counties on it instead of making a new talk to me ryan what do you think i guess what control day this will probably end up putting a lot of five five featuring the play six six usually proudly gonna keep her hands full i think uncountable instance being dropped to i think that's a reasonable and i think that's a reasonable to expect it'll be a six six us up yeah i mean excuse me i think there's like there's some interesting tension here because i can't be countered is like a really powerful effect and i really liked somebody in nascar's there's some really cute things you can do it this a mechanic it is really hard for me to imagine this kind of usurping the spot of cure hawk in the format where we that's when we have big the tough spot and you wouldn't really wanna play this alongside gear whole like is this voters would be too you know flashes back with girls and get a big creature alongside your whole i think that that just too many six drops so i i do think that's it's like fringe player will do i have to be honest i think you have to play if you were gonna play it i think you'd want some other a mouse payoffs because you could do some really cool things like flashed listen during combat just like one shot summer some some crazy thing like that you know i could see this coming in to like the near battles i was gonna say is this working a control mir over something like six in the final word which is a couple of and i think sinks wins the game winner better which i think is why you bring that in sure yeah but i mean you gotta assume they decided out there fatal bushes if you've been uncountable creature the draws to card and you just been you know if you guys just doing land go the whole game you drop this is the nine nine that seems decent i mean i don't i don't hate it it's it's all right i'm gonna go on what do you think about civil civil off so finally got a card to metal one one legendary creature homeless and when he entered the battlefield you draw card if you from the library or it's casper labor you drove to cards instead and who comes a targeted they spell supplement tier library yeah i don't think it's vital straight in the marvel right not label really i don't think so i mean just better not releasing play yeah yeah so i'm interested in seeing him in kind of like a value cocoa list right i i think i think just seeing a little more value cocoa recently and i think he fits in really nicely as just a clean three per one when you hit a moscow right i i don't think he's amazing but i think i i do think we could see him in cocoa a list like this where it's pure value tom so not going like humans too aggressive it's kind of like tiny derby value okay what else do you have in blue in a way i talked about all i only had three cards oh what about you i still think the rest of these on this lifter worth talking about i think yeah i think so i'm gonna bring up then nurse that's reversal this is a personal favorite for me i'm kind of like the blue red spells do derby stuff is my favorite if my favorite are type right a so nurses reversal is to blue instance be copied target instant or sorcery spell the return it to its owners hand you may choose new targets for the copy what do you think maybe against good against their yeah i think that's a great place for one of the one of the better applications well well you know if you're copying burnsville the deal three of their face and they just get it back their hand that doesn't feel great and i think most of them are gonna have a creature usually right yeah yeah hopefully it's all the great against the good times bigger times probably the one i should have brought up verse they've already dumped their cars away right so it is a real kicking the man i do think it's super narrow but you want this over negates i think this could be a fun of in the right that so i don't think you're gonna play the you could never for a raven three of this but if you have this is like a one of and occasionally just get the stuff the control players dig through time i think you're you're pretty pleased with that what do you think you you seem the yeah i i like i like it i think it's possible maybe you'll i think you'll see someplace somewhere it's gonna be fun card but maybe not amazing yeah it's i think it's i think it's a fun so you could play one of it and not feel too bad and that's kind of how i feel about the next kind of bring up which is sparked double a and this is a card that i've tested just a little bit so i will talk about it fits for amana three in a blue for an illusion and it could enter the battlefield as a copy of creature warplanes walker you control except enters additional pulse on fulsome counterfeits creature or an initial loyalty counter if it's planes walker 'em and i if it's legendary if the permanent it's copying legendary then marketable is not legendary so it's a copy of any planes walker or creature using you control and it's like be bigger or slightly higher loyalty or i think with the case of eating it would be both that's interesting yeah so i'm interested the here you're take think so what i like about this card is that it's a copy of you're planes walkers which is but it's also copier planes walkers that you could interact with other zones is a creature so you could bring this back with your conan's command and bring it back withdrew really on a and make a copy of really on some things like that make me like it makes you have a little bit more versatility then just playing another copy of planes walker playing another copy of creature are there planes walkers that you'd want to like you know ultimate right away or like to use like their minus right away though so together that double affect so like getting of course it'd be great you know minus four minus four plus creatures in this one would stick around them yeah i mean i have trouble releasing i think you definitely have to play it as like a plane's walker copy it just i feel like at the point do you have plans walker is on the board and frontier you're you're doing pretty well so i dunno it's it's it's seed wants in seaplanes walkers reasonable through the format it's definitely a powerful effect and i don't think we have any plans walker duplication station in the form of yeah so it could be cool i just i feel like i'm i'm winning already at my plans walkers of stuck around yes let's see how these other side is if you're behind you know they're killing every future you play against the red back then it's not gonna be very good but if you bring it out even if you're copying something like the gifted nature boy that feels pretty good for me and it doesn't mean three for life link that touched does not hurting against a agra let's do it does have its us one of those one counter all right all right i'm coming around or i'm gonna move us onto owner there's one word you wanna talk about here flux chandler so this is three men a two to human wizard and reverie castanon creature spell proliferate what do you guys think i it's it's the set up i haven't seen how it works so i can't really say to me in a pro last day but at the same time press doesn't get counter so it's like i feel like it's honestly not like it to be honest i like it a lot i think you could maybe play we i think we have somebody actually go a mouse carts and the format now and i feel like i'm probably just like crazy talking about like this but i have a question though yeah so like if you're playing against a deck that wants to remove counters firm a permanent like seeing a nice you could use this the adam more counters right yeah there's a couple of interesting things you could do so one thing i really like about proliferate parade is that you could add the third countered somebody else's history of an alien and just make it die okay when it's your turn instead of their turn nice nice others that sorry go ahead no sorry about the other side here marinating on flex chandler i think it's unplayable that i don't know what i was thinking two two four three amount of has not traditionally done very well and from yeah it doesn't even if it's a car that wednesday the game mike rebel mask it doesn't impact the board right away i dunno i i was crazy i had a idle ops insanity forgive me all right let's move on to the lack of big so why don't we start maybe with some of the cycles when he did the finish here so there's got attornal bumped to he is also five nine five six minutes into the battlefield sacrifice any number of other permanent and then draw that many cars would you guys play this in like a rally or some kind of aristocrats type day so that is where i've tried messing with him so far he seems okay there you know five six man this is not anything discussing even for five mana but yeah you're definitely playing for that sacrifice ability and it's pretty good u m one thing i found is that i don't mind sacrificing you'll maybe half of my land because you're probably gonna draw three four lands and if you're you know aristocrats that you probably don't have a lot of expensive cars and i mean i guess that's my main problem with them right what you just said if you're in aristocrat stuck you don't have a lot of expensive cards so just like collective company just just be a rally back you know like the combo is just so low cost of having the deck to me this is this car that wants to be like a almost like a fair long game aristocrats plan i just i i can't imagine a scenario where it's not better just include four copies rally and you're duck and so compared to something like rally or coke whether you said what did you like about a minute to play something like tread hoard invasion or a hidden stockpile so what do we talk about trade organizations think that's very important black card firm the set when you talk about yeah i agree i really like dr horton invasion did it get removed it i don't see it on your sheet here but let that one is one and one black for treatment and the beginning of upkeep you pay one life at a mask one so you make eight one one army if you don't have one zero one of people's component which makes is relevant or if you already have an army you out of color to it and then if you have somebody token with power sixth grader under the tax it could fly flink which is not totally trinket tax in eight deck with something like scales these things get to a six six pretty quick a in a scale like this would be nutty this might actually let scales compete again now i've heard a lot i have to say and i just kind of various mid range builds kind of like aggressive bob's and john and all that stuff and i just it it jostled me back and forth like never quite figure out if it's good or not 'cause like yeah there were a lot of games where like i block a return with it and i chop and it saves me a whole bunch of life and it keeps me in the game long enough to stabilize on his other games were like the the control player kills it every three of four turns it never does anything and then it kills me yeah so do you guys think about i think it's the power levels there you know it's another one of these deal it's so that strong finding you support and i think it could fit into some existing decks like i think we could fit this into what happens then build and be happy with it i definitely was most happy when i was playing it besides like copter a because it just it let me weaponize the little bodies a little better when i needed to 'em and it just it was more threats a really difficult to deal with a like sorcery speed and all that stuff so i like i said i've been happier with the having talker and the duck but it's been a weird one for me for sure i think it is liable yeah i don't hate those in a champion for things like grim flare maybe yeah yeah the other factor for sure all right so well but i was gonna say we're gonna finish the cycles and black so finale of eternity is one of the equipment to do x black black mythic sorcery destroy the three target creatures with toughness x or less andy if it's center more neutral all preacher cards from your graveyard the battlefield so you know i was talking about there's not very many x one so that means this is a former nfl probably a minimum that format of kelly's and kill three creatures of toughness toughest tour less at that point you could be doing languish you could have been doing a one of the three men of sweepers turn sooner that's not amazing if you're killing three toughness creatures five men a you know what that could play multiple three toughest creatures at this point you're so i'm not seeing a lot of these cases just kind of thinking through and allowed here how in a rap right i mean maybe it sounds sweet the kill like all three of their promise do you know from a turkey read but it's just like in order for this to be better than languish you have to have a board you don't want to kill in in which case it's a really expensive weird removal spell a minor black the black like control day that's a standard right now could possibly make the job to frontier with the card like this is it's got a lot of wrapped in their already i dunno if i'm if i'm super gonna believe that but like i hope you're right that'd be cool feel like that is not just not on the level of other frontier ducks yeah okay but speaking of bringing us back from the graveyard a card that i wanna talk about real quick just because of the possibility of a new art type i think command the trade hoard which is choose any number of target creature planes ohka courage and graveyards nfl's damage to equal to their total converted nana cost in brings back onto the battle for control that card along with that gideon's sacrifice could be a nice little combo yeah that's that's a tough combo to stomach i think i'm more season number one with something like so fire grandmaster or with the wonder okay whom would make it safe to play this year and wouldn't take any damage not totally safe though because you know if they kill that response or if they come you're getting a sacrifice response then it's still kill you have to the targets were you cast it it's also a six minutes though so i'm not sold on something i wanna bruins but i feel like if it exists it'll be a pretty fringe that kind of saying this as someone who's happy the play perennials boy yeah which is exactly why chose it 'cause he used that other i mean six minutes sorcery speed you guys know that i think about this and we think that you wanna plant in you got me figured out you you nailed it so i'm gonna go to another cycle motorcycles here luli on a triumph one the black each opponent sacrifices creature hasn't instant and if you control willie on planes walker they also discover card so this is diabolical either amazing card level guard slightly better even doesn't target and maybe some tricky text maybe some upside if you've got lujan and you're so i've never been a fan of either the temperatures only it's only gonna be against mid range that i really want this to be a great card and everytime i tried to play it i just feel really bad and like is this kind of like a lot of the time i find like i'm just i'm getting their one drop you know like i just i don't get much for it and when i when i really needed like a cast down or whatever other like targeted to manner mobile is definitely got these raw power right like there's when you say like they play a bulldog does no joke but it's also because legacy is full of shit like a true name nemesis right and and a than merit lodge yeah yeah so in fact you're kinda like dragging a cure card that you know target player sacrifices white or green card and then you like drain to gain or something like that i think that's slightly better well i mean this is a main dokoupil this man that is the difference there and i don't think it's bad with in the kind of duct it would be delivering the liliana so i i feel like there's there's been a lot of cards exactly my kind of back where you know you're running amount of resources in this plays right into that so you're already killing their one drops so you're gonna hit their big thing you're gonna take cuts hand with early on that seems grow so it's a card i'm interested in it'll probably be you know a one of or two of in the kind of one's a little bit or removal had a it will probably see a little bit of play i tend to agree with you i think it is play a ball has like a one of maybe two of i think i think my part of my problem with that is i think a lowly lost hope is really bad right now like really bad interesting way i think she's awful she's just like there's not enough x one the format anymore and she's just three man of sorcery speed don't really do anything of kind of a death sentence and they're like a target maybe maybe it'll change sam expecting like a big shakeup put this up so maybe if we see like model white comeback on the back of getting blocked but maybe maybe maybe really animals took up it'll be pretty cool so i've been talking a lot you guys have another black card like move onto i kinda wanna talk a little bit about elders though i think it's a great card i think it's definitely deserves a place in the site word but do we actually have a lot of planes walkers in the french informant that we have to worry about another do right of the elders so says destroy any number of target planes walkers and then choose the planes walker you control input to loyalty counters on each planes walker destroyed this way what is this magical spoke to so the two black what what kind of what kind of the jury the job there guys yeah but who is the hardest okay so jack shit only destroys planes walkers so you'd have to be against that has you know at least one planes walker i assume at this point unless if you're really trying to win off of multiple times walk you control which is possible but it's it's difficult you know i've tried to build a deck around there were they kill style recently the exile the creature and puts who were becoming planes walker and it was a really we really fun when it comes to be one of the game by you know like open you're drawn survivors something but the rest of the time you're not really doing much yeah i mean if you kill your own playing soccer is it's fine if you if you set up reset if you set up you're invited to win the game game yes yeah if you had a fine if you kill airland planes while yeah some kind of come though yeah yeah i mean like it's it's like a really splashy important world the spark spell and i'm really like i want it to be good it's official removal a hitch planes walkers and like we don't like the ups traditionally been a good one to be able to hitting frontier but it's it's just so narrow like if we ever get like a a properly good a super friends that greatest control decks will run this by board and if we don't they won't that's that's kinda like so far goes okay what do we move on to read if we can did you wanna move onto richard you wanna talk anything else about a black like bullets the citadel lady well now you said you have to talk about it created a subway seville six man of a three in black black black anza you may look the top part of their library anytime any may play the top card if you're library in if you cast a spell pay life equal to its converted vanna costs rather than paying a fan of cost and then you could also have at the sacrifice ten mom non land permanence in each opponent is ten life there's gotta be some kind of combo involved here paying your life playing cards when he threw fear or either sphere what is called a either harvest you know the way it looks reservoirs flux reservoir they add one so those in theory come together but i'm not seeing the combo they're like you would need a lot more deck manipulation i feel like we have six men is a is a whole bunch of maybe we could marvel into especially on that especially with take command and the format and it's in artifact all right now i'd like to move onto red bull see if we could wrap up are model colored in well episode and then kind of do over quarter part to immediately afterwards which will be the multicolored and kind of are top five and said do you love i black and then we're gonna have more guns finished on a couple of cycles here so i've gotten heb dread or champion for men a legendary zombie mandatory warrior but he's not a guy okay how's things you is the god of this cycle but that's not true we've got ill hard so i should probably written instead a let's have sorry after a fight for whenever you deals comeback player planes walker you describe any number of cards you if you draw that many cards and had that much read ton of turn you don't miss is not as is so he's he's a five four doesn't affect the board right away i know that's not good enough but he's affected so sweet and i wanna be good so i'm glad we were just giving him a call out were giving a shout out for the you know the madness decorah doesn't quite exist leave the cool factor he's got the style points are now if you want some cool factor ill hard abor with a mohawk five men a six six that that seems like slightly better step trample and when he attacks you could put a creature kirkman hand on the battlefield pattern attacking you return that creature perjure hand the beginning of the next step in when he dies was put into exile from grapes battlefield these implement a preview of what i like it'll hurt a lot i i think there's some some kind of green red stop you there that's gonna want him so i would love for agreements w back to exist the format and i don't feel like it does right now so if that's going to exist hopefully he's part of it but that would be a real shakeup frontiers we really have never had that that could be viable yeah that's kind of where i'm at their card leader were gonna talk about that i think might pair really well with this guy and maybe it will get that interaction we talk about that card so okay 'em what else have we got here so we've got finale of promises other cycle i wanna finish x red red you've been cast upper one target instant card indoor one target sorcery card from graveyard each with converted monique cost x were left without paying their mind cause if you cast a car this wave river xl energy center more is instead hoppy those two more times seems to jacob i mean it seems like i don't know what kind of good value so so are you happy playing this x equals one in casting to burn spells me a graveyard getting three prowess triggers has to be it'll be instant anna sorcery right yeah so it has been a source ran i can't think of much in the way of one man of sorcery is that we played here yeah i mean like when you talk about upside on this card it seems insane you know finale a promise were four and then i'm gonna thought a razor you and you know a parade you're here hulk does of course would let let's let's maximize how good this card is 'em it seems like i dunno it just seems it's asking a jump through a lot of hoops so there's there's been a lot of hype on this card but i think i i think it's like it's wishful thinking like maybe you could play one you're never gonna get the even if you know if i'm gonna dress in a fatal push maybe but yeah even that seems unlikely to always have it set up correctly yeah and it just seems that seems not better than fine so it's like why am i playing this tournament after set up so much fritz it'd be fine yeah that would be you know i could just play another copy of cold on command and do the exact exact same thing this credit card and goes creature yeah yeah exactly okay i'm gonna move us on a little bit a museum tanks this is one you know we're almost at the chocolate before the episode i don't know how to evaluate discard it super interesting so it's a three man of wanting to read brief artifact vehicles so three to when it's crude a crew one it has trample end whenever you testing done creatures spell it becomes an artifact creature and gets plus one vote until after tour things grading red red blue in seoul you cats and so artifact becomes you know where to start for three you know or becomes they were six six or cancelled the shrapnel blast on something else on your thoughts and then this comes a four three trample and then you just i could see like in in seoul artifact like kind of combination dank soup three modest cheap enough that i'd be interested in it there yeah i mean i i kind of see it in like a murder vehicles less lawyer other vehicles hit it yeah and then you could you have like you're lightning strikes like you're just like aggressive spells you know so i think but i mean even like i could see a circuit planning it if if for whatever reason they didn't wanna play chain world or or like their profit on whether i think it's high enough quality you can play it in a ton of three drop slot in the cargo yeah you turn it on using it's done creatures spelled l e this is got three toughness that's that's kind of the bay from it i need have in my free drop i mean i think it's raised you could reasonably go like double spell you know so go like a wild slosh into a target command and the thing is just enormous now right like that would be a four three five four six five tremblor yeah so yeah i think it's label i don't think it's like blow the roof off 'cause like read three drops her already so good okay so a do you guys have anything else in red you really wanna talk about here no i'm i'm done with red hair i kind okay no but that's just why jank yeah janko krankl are so what do we move onto a green card here again i'm gonna kinda jumped through some of the cycles i know we have we've got ruinous who person i think is one of the worst of these god's you'll five man of five five death touch which is awkward on a five five i went into his battlefield you double the power and of each other creature you control until end of turn and they gain vigilance so doesn't double their toughness just their power doesn't give them trample schism vigilant oh man i didn't even realize it in double their toughness oh that makes me so sad yeah so this is a so doubling vigils forgive her vigils about toughness awkward you could still you know some of the bunch of things happen to die i mean i don't think this is obviously as bad as you're making you feel like you could play the health ball right like you just like you just heard well l you have unlimited man i because you're now deck and then you you just kill them but i've got unlimited man i feel like i'd rather play you'll be raised for four runner edry for in his early i just feel like you could i mean when i say on limited i don't really mean unlimited yeah you have acceleration ryan so you could probably hit the board of this earlier than most acts otherwise could and like doubling doubling power is is a lot of power of the board you could be like you know we talk rica's mean if you've got if you're going very well you've got a lot of one once you're only adding plus one plus one of them that's not gain breaking and if he's got some big things and they don't have trample you're not gonna get through four weeks so it it's a lot of joe hoops to jump through for me i mean i think this this this adds a bit of synergy some of those all ducks over like previously steel leave champion which is like a really weird personnels right like you you really kind of want it to be able to play at turn to an end you could because you had these eight dorks but it just but if you didn't then it's not a great car yeah and you just got even when you did play it on turn to you didn't really have anywhere to go with it so like a lot of a lot of decks used to play like dorks into something big rights like old school abdin style decks where they used to play dork in the valley a within like go okay a double rhino getting so it's like it's being able to build off this momentum you built on turn like just early momentum on turn to right whereas elvis never really felt like they had a way to do that and i'm thinking maybe this guy is it okay 'em let's talk about the kind of a big cycle think no no did we talk about theo nelly nelly of devastation i like this card i don't love it so x green green central library end or graveyard furniture carpet from and vermont accost x left and put her on the battlefield if you search whoever's chocolate and if x with ten or more creatures you control because temples all creatures even troll so i don't care about doubling power i wanna give the mall plus ten plus yeah so stop to wrap this card is sweet like what do you what do you think ryan where you went with it i i like it a lot i mean i would totally play if i had away the get that much lana that quickly 'em i mean here's my problem with if i'm not paying twelve manner for this rain it's just better the play court or like traversee old and all right there's no reason we don't play this outside of on furlough kill in the flexibility doesn't hurt i mean i like nah i guess yeah there were times where it could be better for you if you don't have to creatures and one creature you know what i like instantly speed could vote and that's why were playing are laminate weaken sacrifice neighbors in since be yeah yeah and that's why we're playing versus the jump through i'm gonna say it's near a credit gives you things vocal but that that gives a artifacts you control both iso michelson flatness would you play this a target market and then like a bring a man in swing for twenty percent everybody else i'm i'm hoping someone smarter than me finds a way to break this i'm gonna try at first in standard and if that works maybe will move the frontier but right now it's up in here yeah i'm pretty skeptical this is gonna this is gonna make it there in frontiers it really close okay and so unfortunately still have a lot of green cards worth talking about jumped to aid uncommon evolutionary see so we've talked a little bit about proliferate this might be easiest one possible three men a three to health through it and whatever inland into the battlefield under control proliferate hasta break something right it's got to there's gotta be a way that you know you're you're playing a land you're playing fetch you're you're fetching it and you're adding to realty to idaho you're missing something like that like we have a lot of cool ways to get lands on the battlefield in kind of these colors right so we did even like like renegade ralliers a really great thing when you compare with this together like double rocks thanks a lot of the stuff is kind of offer because a lot of good ways to get land on the battlefield don't have counters on that that seems it seems playboy seems like it's gotta be play a ball you know does compete with things like tireless tracker in the same slot but it'd probably also goes perfectly him hand with restricted 'cause he gets counters yeah yeah that's true since like thinking so new voices on the car tick up the for play this play fetch and this goes to six plus again so that's turned using old yeah i mean like there's there's gotta be a way 'cause like lands on the battlefield is pretty low opportunity cost yeah yeah definitely does this have any kind of those ice skate shifts or anything like that you think this is a good option we do have skipped shift but we haven't i haven't seen yet what we could make an actual combo to just when they came off of that are so i'm gonna move on were gonna keep thinking on that card block bond a flourishing i wanna mention one of the green look at the top three cards you libraries movie really permanent card from among them put their hand and but the rest of the bottom end game three life so it's somewhere somewhere between anticipate hey revitalize they both of miss on this card seems pretty strong right yeah i think i wouldn't look twice this without the game three life but i think i think green ducks have been hurting for a while like green dexsa don't have white have been hurting for awhile to get like life stabilization tools and do a target and yeah i don't think those cards amazing but i think it's almost like it's just the perfect fit 'em for when you just you really need that life stabilization and i think a law degree index doing the format mhm yeah something like a plane's walker decca healy back tokens deck i could definitely see those things in play that or maybe one more of vivians park though have talked about one of the green legendary artifact using pick ax tapped credit card look at the top x cards you library and you could put a future card with conferred malcolm x left among them onto the battlefield so much potential this is definitely gonna create a new archetype i think you know some kind of not pot back but but you know some kind of eat tv into the battlefield pillbox stack yeah it's woman i need tests with more because it's awkward in how big you wanna go with this do you wanna be oh i'm doing the first seven and finding my big creature or am i try to do this for and hoping they hit a siege right off the top of the duck so having played with this little bit you definitely need to be able to accelerate with a m so i would say you have to be going to at least five man i probably wouldn't wanna be on six though like were not were not committed to acceleration with vivians are both is just like it's part of what we do so that we can have like we could be slamming bigger bombs you so you can you really awkward with me because if i have a sixth or seventh mata i'd be one of the sacrifice it to my vivians art bell rather and putting in place to make bigger things yeah yeah yeah so i mean i think that's part of it right so you need to build a dig deep just a guarantee you're gonna get that good hit so one thing that i actually really interesting in might actually work with a with a carpet talked about already is ill are great so if you are able to cast ill hard with this you get kind of like the pseudo haste 'cause you'll cast amended return so you're flashing man he's uncountable and they don't get a chance to peel from your hand he never goes away any no matter what he will always come back before the end of the next turn yeah so you will always be able to swim with him every single turn until the game in that seems really powerful tummy or any any last minute picks any shout outs i i kinda wanna just give it a shutout in green the paradise drew the two men a two one that contempt for any amount of energy experts untapped i think that card will see play district straight garbage there is it it it will play because i'm gonna play it it could end ascendancy yeah but the senate the reasons sylvan targeted was good his cause you could never deal with that right where the with like spider just didn't hit it bar removal gonna hit this like it's just like sure you got the top of the first but it's just like you're turn you basically be turning on your opponents removal so i just one of the best then by the time you've gotten it out in ascendancy yes i'm talking about someone ascendancy by the time you've gotten the amount of out of it you're winning the game with the so that might be worth the power level i know i'm not convinced but maybe i mean maybe you're right maybe be i i missed evaluating this i i'm not a master of dark okay anything else and so there's one more i wanna give a shout out to hear another awakening of v two guys he said that a three man on earth three three call let's to green put nine plus one yeah the five minutes total three colors to green instant speed put nine plus one plus one counters on target land you control it becomes a legendary zero zero elemental mental creature with haste named v two guys he still a land that other nestle so we do have multiple lamb in frontier that are indestructible nine nine plus one plus one counters counters is a lot we also have sylvan advocate who's pretty sweet mhm yeah and like instant spielman matters like i think this this label but like french plus one dropped out there are well give it a try for sure so you wanna call this and do a top five in multicolor next yeah so if anyone has been heard we are empty frontier you could find a way to frontier dot net a highest comes ical we've got ryan trick as well well as matt murphy hope you guys reach out to us tell us anything you thought was cool and more stark especially anything but we didn't cover and we're going to go over are multicolored card in planes walkers in part two of this episode thank you guys for listening

#133: Your Untapped Potential [MINI-MESSAGE]

"Welcome to another on the verge mini message. I am your host Care Bradley today. I WanNa talk to you about what it breaks. My heart what breaks my heart is untapped. Potential what breaks my heart is just seeing people speed by their extraordinary unique talents. Not Paying attention to the things that light them up a few. Don't make them feel alive. So my question for you today in this very short message is what are you speeding by. What are you not paying paying attention to? I believe we all have extraordinary intelligence. We all have unique gifts unique expression but so often what I see in our culture is that we are speeding by that which makes us unique that which is is tapping at the door banging at the door asking to be expressed. Where is your expression where it does that natural expression come from for you? Are you physically gifted. Are you talented through voice. Are you talented in your cooking. Are you talented in your writing. Where where is the medium? What is the medium that is that is your the best fit right now? And what are you waiting for. What is calling? What is knocking at the door? Are you giving yourself enough time during your daily life to really sit with yourself. What is it I know for me the morning time for me is the time I sit with the blank sheet in my journal and I will doodle? I will bullet the point. Sometimes I write. Sometimes I copy quotes but anything to stir the story at the soil anything. Stir what's being called forth within me and sometimes there's nothing guys sometimes I have. I come up empty ninety but we all have unique. Capacity and potential is dormant capacity acidy. It's dormant uniqueness. You have unique quality to bring forth into the world world to touch and serve and educate and inspire others. What breaks my heart? It's not it's not that you are not. Perhaps you know selling your best selling book. I mean it's not that it breaks. My heart is when I see people on speed and so busy in their day to day lives that they don't allow oh were give themselves four five six minutes ten minutes a half an hour a day to tend to their own soil. It will come through. Our unique gifts are constantly pulsing through us but the that soil needs to be tended to and needs to be cultivated and nurtured and so the Journal may not happy for you. It may be a run. It may be quiet time at night. It may be walking your dog but when are you spending a quiet time with yourself to really listen deeply. I'm going through a month right now this month of December where I have very little on my schedule. It's extraordinary. I mean I've actually created the space very intentionally and and so I'm really committed to listening to listening deeply every day. What is coming through? Oh what is starting to mature or to manifest. Where am I being called to express myself because this this my friend is the essence of of being human is listening deep inside a nurturing that unique unique voice so that we can bring our uniqueness our unique intelligence out into the world? It doesn't need to look any certain way right. Let's let go of that. It doesn't have to be your job. It doesn't have to make money. It doesn't have to touch millions on instagram. Your unique capacities needs to be nurtured and they need time your time in your attention every day even if it's just a few minutes a day so that's my call for you today day. What are you speeding by? And if you don't know what you're speeding by that unique expression then then offer for yourself the space every single day to sit with yourself to tune in word to turn inside to turn over the soil to start to water those seeds to plant the seeds to Rome on the the Internet with some of your curiosities that you've always been curious about this and you don't know why right those curiosities down and then in your time name by yourself. Spend your time with your curiosities what breaks my heart is untapped potential and that starts with just giving yourself the attention you need to begin to hear what is coming through for you you. I so wish for you that that fruitful space in that fruitful time to touch in and tap in and connect with yourself off and I look forward to hearing what you hear. That's it for today. My friends have a great impactful. Day Away with your cell phone with others go out there and shine take care. The Information's 411 Fidji Simo

"And this week we're going to begin sharing interviews for this year subscriber summit held down in Menlo Park we interviewed CEOS from Bricks this is Jessica lesson with the information each Fiji also shared a little about the forthcoming news tab I hope you enjoy so march and sort of rising up oversaw a lot of projects including watching video which is now still part of the purview and then the goal plan focus how do you think about being obviously tremendously important but like is is it a case of in the sense that you know instagram what's up have been these sort of huge rocket ships so tell us I mean what's what's facebook part of facebook we covered a lot of ground from the slowing of the core business to how facebook continues to struggle bouncing protecting users with free speech taking over so Fiji's name is one of those names you hear a lot when you talk to people inside the company repeatedly years year after year so seeing very very shortly and just a little bit about background I think when in March it was announced that you're taking over maybe externally word he took over as I said what we think of as facebook so we'll dig into a lot of the products that you're over walk like a rare disease and what we are seeing is that it's not just communities it's actually a variety of activities that you can be a platform or you came to really one thing which was connecting with friends and family and now it's much more than that so how does that affect newsfeed which I actually hey this is the new norm it's just a mature platform are you focused on reigniting growth like how do you tackle the goals and challenges around that so we're actually growing the video was facebook watch most recently findings your significant other with this book dating and Willie's evolution we've seen his issues the last couple of years so it's people connecting with our neighbors to organize local block party also way to people connecting with other people across the world now do on facebook whether it's attending events selling the old baby clothes on marketplace raising money for something that you care about family friends and family of always been a cough facebook and that's not likely to change but we for example seen an explosion of communities in as well known but Internally Fiji has been a Rockstar at the company for a very long time start joining many years ago to work on ads modernization they got that right my case gelatin communities platform attending events etc but what we're seeing is that more and more people are connecting beyond just friends okay I'm going to start with kind of a tough questions so you know I think as as a sort of obvious the core facebook is the slower growing part of facebook right think is sort of the heart if some ways the product and I wonder too in in a world where mark's talked a lot about this future Komo private communications encrypted communication what's the future of newspeak so thing that's important to descend is while eating you know smaller set of people share context with you whether you have the same interests impassioned so very often people are telling us that groups feel a lot more we are seeing that really as as a spectrum of job is to make sure that people have products that need for all types of that was the innovation was right that it took it unlocked all this other content that would have been different services and put it in the stream and that was sort of this engagement platform last few years so obviously everyday people come to facebook to connect with also connecting with your mom across the world willing to town squares with public things like marketplace is a good example of where you're GonNa meet with someone you haven't met before to exchange goods and services and also just your sharing through all of your friends but fundamentally it feels more private because she back you're getting is private it doesn't stay up for it doesn't tip for so may not show is up to us as friends because context is different stories is another example it's really taking off across all of properties including on facebook where and different experiences monetize differently new speed very advertiser friendly groups and messaging maybe less so because it's more private so how do you balance that want to allow you to open facebook yes you can see on your sheet but you can also go straight up through just watching video exchanging goods and services track if you will or did that why change it did it not work did consumers want something else it's new remains a fantastic takes you from a place where we are really discovering and not having specific intent to helping you discover there is actually a place where you can fast for a second I would say I won't Shell number but this is the thing that I would say that sounds a wheel new stub and all of these are way to have a much more intentional type of behavior so he show really into watching videos more specific I wanNA watch video I also can do that little and I know the ads part of the business is not your focus but obviously different as you can go straight to marketplace so you should sell as a very important role to play as a very big distribution mechanism but we're also developing very specific Salvi racism addition to initiate if you open a facebook up you see a series of tabs facebook watch facebook digging soon so as you know we always told from the point of view of like what he's going to answer people's needs and so when we it's like I just want to know what's most important to me right now I open my new sheet I see that but then if I wanted to develop something that he's like a little bit lot of communications all becoming private is really space for all types of communication and I see that more spectrum on one side you are is for people with specific and what's driving that because I think I remember when news feed was launched I'm dating myself I was reporting on it back then around a while all and and as a result you need to figure out a way to introduce advertising or some kind of business relationship maybe directly you're focused but messaging there has been a lot of attempts to sort of platform a ties it at APPS I mean why perfect for foldout I think thing to understand is that to go hand in hand new she this fundamentally great discovery mechanisms so far instagram what's up facebook why what's the benefit to users what yeah so we are education do on that spectrum I saw newsfeed in particular I think a big part of what has happened in the last few years we've developed new cell why do you think it's harder to figure out how to monetize and well I think it's fundamentally a very very private space that's what makes it so so special we because knew she is fantastic at taking all of the snippets of things that are interesting to you and showing them to you first so that we satisfies simple like you can go through your new sheet and realize a unit that tells you as you have all the items for sale near you may want to check it out and in a with a dozen distract from very specific private nature of the product so that's why a lot of attempts have to do with connecting one formats that respects one connection that messaging is all about another big theme at the company right now is integration right in stitching together that we talk a lot of people were parts of groups about health conditions tele even those groups may have cells and people's chef sings in these groups understands the fundamentals of houses salves people want we figure out ways to monetize out later on in some cases streaky and it will take longer messaging is advertising in Ucla looks like posts and in messaging so what we're trying to figure out what is a advertising of business when you see it's fundamentally because we put advertising so I was completely in line with the consumer behavioral that people already had initiated on on the opposite side of the spectrum messaging which is really one to one but in the middle to prevent your groups are a way of community which we think of APPS can can walk together and provide value like for example insides facebook up and we're going to launch the ability coming up soon too the big blue APP is trying to take over to maybe help capitalize on some of the growth momentum is that fair is that what's happening no along with businesses and then are being a we engagement with his businesses because it's in line with what the platform is if you look at why we've been successful with advertising and do something more specific so that's the next time you want to do something around commerce all around you you can also go straight sex so I cease to actually very complimentary and it's really helpful when you're trying to date someone to kind of understand what's daily life looks like and stories does that really well so by allowing you to show instagram what's up you know no longer at the company so I think in light of that there is this sense that you know facebook is just you guys are trying to seeings trend to private messaging on this well not really sinking primarily like what does that mean for business Washington primarily like where fundamental in business of connecting people we are looking at very specific things when we look at this possibility to apps and it's really driven by what people hey it out I mean is it an should back up and say that you know this strategy hasn't been without critics or controversy right and you have the leadership of talk a little bit about some of the products in the portfolio if you will so maybe starting with watch I think maybe it was earlier this year or recently mark was saying this is really tricky place to monetize but usually we really start from deep understanding of what consumers want in that space before we introduced a no it's instagram stories inside facebook dating we can make so product a lot more valuable and people can connect with one another way so if you sort of not because the thing that we really try to to do is Willie Anderson Watch would add value to people at each moment in time so if you look at when we all and win which people want to connect like Dodsal job to provide ourselves same thing for groups what's usually tends to happen once we really acquired instagram it was a very small company to sing and people love to product like this thing that we really do was continue to grow it understand a big year for watch it's going to really hit it stride has that happened and how has the what is the strategy around original content I know you were show instagram's stories and facebook stores inside traits rebidding and we think it's really important because a lot of people use instagram a lot of people using them stories my messages like I just I think you'd be surprised what what we are seeing is actually that people are really like primary platform of choice ending some are you doing more of that less of that yeah so watch has grown a ton like we have about a seven hundred and twenty million people instagram wars for what he was about and really what we did was very very independently now which is folded weren't just way more things that we could do that with add value that didn't require these complex integration then I don't often check out the other one and so what we are trying to solve for he is really limiting 's is mental over over the and helping people reach France wherever they are and that's really add to call off one of the things that we are talking about but just plenty of the waste and we realize okay like this integration can actually add a lot of value to people so nice right time to stop looking at that but that's why which is into it before that's why we're doing it now because awesome making really good money and how do you think about sort of learning those creators to watch verse IGT INSTAGRAM's product burst visiting every months for watching what he's one minute on average if we did watch for about twenty six minutes so we are seeing like a lot of telling us a one so in the case of messaging example you can sing about the facts that every time I actually message someone I have to think about all the most your what's up but we are seeing that there are differences I g TV's GONNA tend to skew younger FACEBOOK IS GONNA tend to be a lot stronger for building APP First Youtube Pattern so what we talk creators is that should figure out which platforms they WANNA be in based on two communities we are seeing actually a wave of creators really start to imagine Hamas well especially now that we've really tools formalization and we're starting to she news and of course we have to go there I would have but I mean it's so shortly I think there's been a little bit reporting about a new news tabby and for people to consume US inside facebook and we've been working with publishers very much from the beginning conception of new stub where really excited the most near Messenger user because like now to what's up that means nod gunnison message right away so now you have to think about all those people just get notifications I mean I see it's like you know Steph game where Cente- lime town with just watch school but also going for things that are going to be mocked because a lot of the content that publishes tend to post on facebook tends to be politics and crime and we hope that's a new step actually expense abreast this is standing apart to them and that you are paying directly for some content right the model has been before we'll do an ad share and all that kind of stuff and a lot of publishers say you mentioned it tell us what you can about it at home so it's going to be launching by the end of the year Jewish too of a destination access to a lot of different types of content and how are you because obviously a decision like that is going to ripple down through publishers who are going to start adducing content that they think you're going to want so how do you how are you sort of approaching that role in sort of what you select the and comcast pays Disney. ESPN is that kind of model that you guys had in mind and doing this do you think that makes sense we're really focused and and also figuring out like obviously has to make financial sense for facebook on some level that doesn't really need to 'cause you wouldn't notice but onto what people want and so you have talking about our content strategy a big part of what we're going forward is yes having anchor sort of content entity wants so it's a lot of like obviously shorter form content of very personalized very focus on entrust and killed and very often you know says no difference between the communities want to build this should be everywhere and that's totally fine with us that's probably more revenue for them that's totally cool a- actually one was telling me I thought it was interesting analogy wants to know what you thought of it a little bit of like Cable Licensing Model and cable there's sort of an affiliate were you judging the Roi I guess on that those dollars so one of the things that people don't always realize that content it's GonNa be very personalized to you so obvious strengths of facebook is to be able to give you personalized and relevant contents who are very focused doc and making sure that you can see the topics almost interested in just excited about it so when we talk to publishers and you mentioned it I mean I think wide range of companies and very excited to bring you the full unedited versions of these interviews I stop we have Fiji Cmo the head of the hi so when you're talking about our why like it's really important for us that we do a really good job delivering that use case for people so even so it's really depending on what to create a WanNa get out of this engagement but very often depots everywhere that's cool you mentioned richest runs a content you were seeing a lot of creators of boost of content and then a specific group for all of their fans without community becomes proactive and one of the things I'm really excited about east to really have a breath of news content inside this top whether it's and obtain sports health content etc analyzed what people want so like you know they want to go deep news we should have a lot of news clips a willing to late night like making sure that we are of late night the news is actually very important reasons so as we prioritize things that types of values that we want to create for people news ranks out of being a business mall from the get go with Sam that makes world hold them so we're going to be licensing some content as part of this new stab then we ask people why come to facebook obviously as a primary reason saw connecting with friends and family connecting with groups and communities but news and that we hope to attract him his new stuff that's a big part of why we are doing these shows it's not trump trump trump trump sean this is that we can get don't like paying for content that is not already coming to the platform and wishing he's going to be valuable falls in Houston so I was mentioning breath of content I was in a deep relationship creators publishers we would have to prioritize figuring out a way for people to have this catch up use case and engagement what are people watching is it the same they'd watch on Youtube is it something else see what they watch a variety of things and actually a big part of strategy ease obviously licenses and that's why he deserves tyneside's that's why we really want to drive traffic to and and so for us it was something we had to figure it out no matter what that I mean there's been a couple cracks that news for facebook over a number of years and instant stories articles comes to mind where publishers it was sort of a different way of publishing content into it it would be faster to read faster to load from nat- or others we covered a lot of grabbing gain here onto you before you can continue the conversation so it's taken longer to launch fittings and it has taken a lot of other products in the past and that's because ah innocent articles was really geared towards making s`amuse reading experience for people much faster much better from that perspective you can order and you'd be surprised that it is not looks no money it's actually having something in common with the person and so we sing clearly why how's it going what are the goals so we actually saw tun of people were always using his work today ahead of it it's going well we're excited about it because we study and about like what is most important for people in Sydney and so I would say the biggest thing that we've learned south of natural playbook of launching product and really just the self full-fledged product that is built with a lot of the new processes we've put in place to build products following last two years that we've had we need to think about the business model in conjunction with a consumer product and not six months later okay to round out some of the apps house dating going suspect you was really important being said there was no doubt that for many years we invested in relationship with publishers and or any users of faith in the audience might not be or crowd that is the one product I do not use I mean just sort of what do we take two mixes six -perienced butter and digging was an interesting experience because Ding is sort of consumers and really waiting for the consumer aspect of the product to be nailed before we would think about the business model now who are it's a good example of four new way of launching product that is much less reactive to the potential for abuse potential for harm and much more about getting in Pittsburgh profile so that's something we did from the get-go same thing we safety and security we consulted with a lot of people realize that harassment is something you have to get in front of before you launch the products and made a lot of adjustments the product for example like you can only which to someone once and you have to wait until that person too doing on that front and where do you sort of want the company to be yeah so we're very big believers in free speech monkeys on fish talking about so I think probably now as we're speaking mark is probably giving a speech on free speech is very you know he just really wanted to rain on our parade here is what to allow what not to allow videos to allow how do you think facebook is ads the same time we need to balance that virtues pretension people from home and that's that's very very hard to navigate people have told us is that really wanted all's in formations it puts inside phase dating to only be seen by people stating and to be completely separate from the bidding can really do that well because we allow facebook dating people to connect with the same groups within the same event and so that for example is privacy where we've really be able to to act with privacy out so called with consulting with privacy experts and what those experts and where we are thinking about it is that we need to stand up for free speech right now more than ever because we've seen over the last couple of Walpole US I didn't work very well Paul Palmer's and so the biggest learning here is for any new products that we create impact on on our system of how this is probably more interesting how do you think face I mean this touches you write news feed curriculum not just in this area but also privacy deductibility elections integrity like all of the big issues where we don't show like we should be making decisions we will have to stick to it even if more disagrees is that in a Beta Alpha where's that it's GonNa Launch Soon we are in the process us more and more people sit at some kind of speech is dangerous when we'll eat just don't like and goes out so we sort of embark on the journey like a couple of years ago we started really looking into it's really hard at this moment in time is so much tension to stand up for free speech where really committed to that as value who do you think's should decide where we are creating a site board which is going to be an independent body that people can appeal content decisions too so if your client has the thing is I think we can have an opinion on free speech but the most important thing is we shouldn't be the one judging and in fact well actually not waiting for regulation ah you know what what is the threshold of harm that should violate that well we've been very clear that we don't think a private company reform work she go out how we can make the best decisions in the meantime and explain how while making them but also try to sort of like create a set of showed interest that makes it more likely that you will have something in common with a person when you think I'll have to ask my younger friends you've got companies that are unprecedented power governments know UC facebook likes going this path of some sort of independent thing Tori framework but at the same time like I said we stand for free speech so we hope that regulatory framework is leaning towards free speech so yes but but he's the one deciding that we don't think books should we've had to because we don't have the regulatory framework that really helps makes his decision and that's why we have been can down and you don't think it should or if you reported content and we decided not taking down you can appeal to independent body and whichever decisions his body of people makes you don't have it in the US you think other countries are more clear right on speech and that you don't always agree with what other countries that's true I mean ideally we would obviously want standing up we've seen in libra a lot of criticism that that's just sort of shell for facebook's power a lot of the members defected gates's institutions like you're bald talk separate from us and we're going to be empowered to make decisions for us okay that reminds me talks really worked very well that's like people and we're very satisfied are experiencing you said you didn't have to wait for a long time computers and so and what is the status libra and how important is it to facebook so the things that's really important is that one talk and that's actually the best way to build products is to seize always on origin organ behavioral happening on the platform and you can just make it easier and simpler for selecting the right set of people along going into speech and so a lot of what we are trying to do is enes job since his regular point seven billion people who don't have access to bags like we as industry an incredible opportunity to do a lot of good here he's going to be super a heart absolutely like this is definitely from a regulatory standpoint from a collaboration standpoint like also as you can imagine it's going to be hard and like we association that you mentioned like we've really upset it up in ways that it's going to be fully independent and how is that affecting your job I say a main thing that we have to do is members right I couldn't have been part of the plan oh I think when you start something like thought email regulatory environment we the type of tension we have certainly seen a lot of it fifteen hundred entities that I've been interested in joining abrazos Haitian but this is a road that's going to be really hard I mean it's funny this also touches on the theme I mean obviously there's probably more regulatory scrutiny and I trust scrutiny calling for breaking up the company and also amplifying some good so one thing that worries me in this kind of environment is a we've swung the pendulum drastically like a couple of years ago we we protect people from home it's certainly hard because of you see a lot of external destruction and a lot of noise but fundamentally currency and and she's on track books again like those so many steps to kill before we have a valid product Kinda really continue to be focused on identifying the home and really going actively up after this home which we haven't always done and we nice out Jack I don't have details it's far away from what I do but like Kelly Bryce yeah it's it's basically a form of wallet on top of the obscenity we are we wanted to obviously respecting regulation walking onion and with regulators and so as a result we don't expect Sepulveda's just stick around for the entire journey we also like I said expect some of them maybe when we come back later once been cleared but it's going to be the scrutiny like does is it are you I don't think the company's been incredibly acquisitive in the very recent period but was for a very long time it is there a sense of let's uh-huh buys away and you know a lot of what mark talks about today and and a lot of the decisions he makes a whole about balancing things at all really at odds golf that and let the dust settle we haven't had like targets we've been particularly interested in in in recent years it was always kind of part of the plan that wouldn't be smooth so I think a big part of what we're trying to do is operatives there is enough into news that some members were you know well not GonNa be here for the entire journey we also know that some members are leaving nine may come back leader hasn't even launched yet and you lost a lot of fundamentally focus on what we think is right and she has the scrutiny does well facebook how do you think about acquisitions all like it's kind of job to make sure that even in this environment we continue to do good we continue to innovate like on the bad side we minimize about and something called Libra you went there so this is just such an interesting time right I mean the highest level in fact what you're seeing with members deciding to leave it members decided to be added is that it's very much operating separately from us we you walk companies that he's very focused mission and I think that's what's helping us during your still in time to really focus on doing what we think is right which is not always what's popular uh and then the idea is so there's the lieber associations and there's a libra which will be a product inside of facebook and is that when's that expected to launch that on to distribute appreciate the service they're kind of want to ask you to comment on an increasing tension between consuming APP versus plugging fantastic and pursue more mindful activities certainly I've started to reduce my facebook consumption for whatever reason a lot of my friends are doing this off where do you think the equilibrium will be when the dust settles and how do you practice according according to this thank you great question where really focused omission as a company is to connect people and bring them together if using technology really focused on

How to Start Off Strong in The New Year | Ep. #884

"Get ready for your daily dose of marketing strategies and tactics. From entrepreneurs with the guy and experience to help you find success in any marketing, capacity. You're listening to marketing school with your instructors, Neil, Patel, and Eric SU. Welcome to another episode of party school. I'm Eric SU and I'm meal at they talk about how to start off strong in the new year because it is the new year how do year happy new year? Everyone. Hope you guys are doing. Well. And we wish all of you guys the best two thousand nineteen. That's possible. Yeah. So we'll get started. I'll just share a couple of practical things, and you can share whatever it works. Well for you in terms of starting the year off strong. I actually I mean, this sounds Lou, but I like reflecting on the year before and you can start the new year. Maybe even you can also do this before the end of this year twenty nineteen right? You can do this in December sometime. So what I do is again. I like looking at what went well. So I'll put this in like Evernote everything that went well what you'll find is that a lot of things you'll be amazed at all you're able to accomplish in that year. And you talk about what didn't go so. Well, and what you should change is kind of related to start stop keep thing that I was talking about a couple. Episodes ago. The next thing I'll add before I turn it over to kneel, and we can kind of go back and forth. Here is I talk about the traction framework a lot. So this is a meeting that helps a lot in terms of our quarterly planning. This what we do with our lead team. But we also do this with our other teams to like our Konta marketing team, we do this with our client services team to and everyone's just marching the same direction every quarter because what you're doing is every quarter ninety days. It's digestible it goes by quickly. There's a flurry of activity and then boom before he it it's next quarter. But other than that. I mean, they also have this weekly traction meeting we do on Mondays where we go for like an hour and a half. We're talking about issues. We're talking about scorecard. We're all marching same direction. So we had this cadence, and we're all able to follow this whole methodology that entire company's bought in on. And now, I feel comfortable knowing that if I go travel for like a month or two things are still going to be marching on a cadence. They're still going to be falling on going in one direction. So I have one tip for you guys. And that's really from mind to start off the year strong. I want you to adjust your marketing. To be set up and three weekly meetings. Monday Wednesday Friday every Monday your team needs to go review. The previous week come up with on how they can improve this week's numbers, and it needs to be super small tasks and everyone needs to come up with different ideas. And this shouldn't just be marketing there should be people in sales. This should be people in designed development, etc. 'cause they all bring in different perspectives, for example, customer success could end up saying, hey, you know, we'd a lot of support issues because these five things if we fix them. We will get more sales, whatever it may be it could be little simple things each team because you're breaking on teams into three. And you're you're doing this on your Monday calls or Monday meetings more. So you some everyone needs to submit their ideas each pick idea and by two they need to start working on implementing it by Wednesday. That idea needs to be up and running. If you can't get up by Wednesday. You pick too big of idea your ideas need to be super small by Wednesday. They're up and running and you should be. Able to test if they helped or didn't do much is sometimes could take a month to get the results. And that's okay. But it needs to be up and running and then your Friday meetings is more. So to check into see how things are you don't always need the Wednesday meetings. We eventually started cutting them out. But Wednesday was make sure it's implemented. You can do that over slack. Just checking into make sure everyone's up and running and everything's okay. But start off with three meetings, and you can cut it down to just two Monday and Friday, and in general, you wanna do this each and every single week that we people focus on growing your marketing your sales your revenue week over week. That's how you start off the new year strong, keep in mind. It's not marked who grows accompany. It's marketing sales product, it's every division of a company that helps get the company to the finish line. And winter finding here is that we're talking more so its entire car strategic thing for the company all marching to the right direction. We're talking about meeting cadences. It's the stuff that isn't particularly sexy. But it's the underpinnings of long term success. So the two things I'll add from. My side is blocking off time. It seems very dumb. Right. But even this podcast like the way we've blocked off time or time blocked. It is we're just recording a bunch of podcasts at once that way, we can get on with our lives. Right. There's Neal's very busy with his travel schedule. I have my travel schedule but blocking off time, and even this I'll say like look at people's counters. It's like they all have thirty minute. Plus calendar invites men, you can even just cut that in half and forces people to be sustained, and you can get to the point faster, and I would say even try reducing your calls. Maybe only leaving a certain time block each day. Just for calls depends on what your role is depends on your business. Sure. And if I don't think I'll say this if you do have the luxury of being able to do this this helps a lot and sometimes you have to take this away. Sometimes you bring it back, but these are strategic days where maybe you're not logging online. You're not doing any calls. Nobody can book, and you meetings. These are untouchable days, and I've had other other friends that do this other entrepreneurs seen even mentors do this to where they might block off like a Wednesday Wednesday is their strategy or they might just block off eight AM to twelve pm notice. No distractions. Right. Or maybe you might do Friday. Friday's for my strategies for a long time and circumstances have changed a little bit. And now, I'm like, okay. I might need to move it to another day. But doing all these things I encourage you to religion to this podcast, maybe on one x or even maybe point seven five x slow it down a little bit like what exit say's. It sounds like we're talking I liked to act. So maybe listen to it on point five x. But anyway, my point is this everything we're saying to you right now, this is all like condensed into like six minutes. I'm telling you take different elements that you think resonate with you and apply guarantee. It's gonna make a big difference for the rest of this year called.
