Two minutes left here with Travis Kelsey on the Rich Eisen show, and I don't I'm gonna I'm going to ask the question, and this is not at all in any way, shape or form to see if Alex Smith Shouldn't have started that whole first season as Mahomes was just drafted at all. Okay, And that's my front load of this thing, because I'm asking this question merely because we're seeing Nagy. Matt Nagy was on the staff that year now in Chicago, trying to replicate something. Where he's got a new jewel right that he just traded up to go get in the first round. Just like the Chiefs did with my homes. Do you think Mahomes needed That time to become the Mahomes. He is today, Travis. Best you can tell having a front row seat for all of that. What do you think I'm a little bias. I'm a little biased. That's a great question. But then it kills the rest of the day because I was on, you know and independent kick off and All those things. It's just you get the one days in Tuesday's breathing in the reason as you know, and for us, that's surprising to me. Even if I started the day with a $5000 catering day was made our day an empty restaurant. Still an empty restaurant. You know what I mean? Like? Yeah. "Was just a great play by Justin Simpson. He's so smart and so athletic that when he makes great place like that, sometimes they look effortless and easy in it. It really was, You know, it really was a great play by him, but it looked effortless and easy. Read the quarterback size. The whole way. And it's that's just instinct from having played the game of a long time and playing it the right way. And Justin Simmons got these interception. Awesome. All right, I'm gonna go to my first play here, and it's on the this next offensive drive. The Broncos are facing fourth and five And I I think that in typical game situation because this was right around the 40 yard line, let for just a minute before we play her the highlight. "Alright, last thing I wanted to get a cabs questioning with you because last week I saw that Cleveland was at least contemplating moving away from Collin Sexton. He's another guy still under a rookie contract, but in the offing is a big increase in pay day and that they might not look at him as a maximum money guy. Damn. He had a very impressive year for me this season, and I think he's one of the best young score is in the NBA. Is it true? You think the cabs are contemplating that if so, other than the contract? Is there another reason why that I don't know about Because if I were a team and count stacks and was on the open market, I'd be trying to get my hands on him. What's his deal in Cleveland? He is. He's a tremendous competitor. I don't think that there's anything personal or anything that That any team would have to worry about. I think Collin Sexton. I think in some years, Collin Sexton will be a guy who has a very long NBA career and probably contributes to a championship ball club. Don't know if that's as the starter. I think that's maybe as a six man. I think he can score. I think he's got a hot trigger, and he's willing to shoot. I like it. I like his competitiveness. There's been fighting a little bit back and forth on well. Some of the players complain about Tom Sexton and how he handles himself. They got a lot of these players are losers, that only one of my team anyway. So, uh, I kind of defend concepts in a lot of ways about what he does. I don't think that he's arrogant. I don't think that he's a me guy. I think he's a competitor. I think he really wants to win. And he's playing on a on a pretty bad basketball team. But he hasn't pouted and moan the way Kevin Love has. Who's a veteran and a and a guy who's going to represent Team USA just won a championship for crying out loud. I mean, what he didn't Toronto was ridiculous. But you asked me about Colin. I could go on and on about Kevin love and and how bad things got here with him. I think that they're open because they're just not a good team. They haven't reached their over under yet since LeBron left. I think that they've been a ship adrift and now You get this in this nice deep class. You get this gift. That's number three overall. Where you Evan Mobili might make sense inside. Then you might not move from Collin Sexton. Uh, Jalen Greene, I think would be sensational for them. Even you know, I know that there's conversations about commingle here and there. I'm not really sure how much you want to bite on that. Any one of those players, though, when, when, in the real sincerity of the jail ins and then Evan mobili to make a world of difference for this team and being a competitive team, and then you have to figure out Okay, well, eventually I want to be that guy. What do I do with Collin Sexton? Can I get good value? Good return for Collin Sexton, and I think there's some general managers who like him. He's a dog. He's willing to go after anything. And I think that there's a lot of general managers who like that guy, but Exactly what you said. There's a price that comes with that. His numbers dictate that he should be paid a very nice price. Yep. If those numbers dictate that, but Guy who's been an eighth overall pick who really is like a second round pick. Hi. Hmm. They're going up against a man so the story is trae young. He clearly has been he best player in the playoffs. He has risen his level of play much higher than anybody else. He's had the ability to raise his team play on his team. Play much better than anybody else but they are. They're not invincible. And they can't be stopped. The key is is the defense in philadelphia. I think two or three. They finally had an answer to him. And i'm not sure how they did it if it was teaming. Or if they were doing a rotation type of defense on him milwaukee's gonna have to find an answer to that because if he don't not only is he gonna scores points. He's going to let everybody else score their points. So i still think milwaukee is gonna come back here. They're still the better team that the trae young factor is gotten him this floor. So one never knows what's going to happen with Atlanta in milwaukee getting to be exciting. Another building is extremely hard to winning or extremely loud is atlanta on. That crowd is on their feet. They get they took you to do that in a way that most other young Stars don't if they don't play the wing and so having Marcus be your point guard would be fine and if the talk about how he wants an extension is true like his max extensions only twenty percent more than a month. Now like you could very reasonably just extend Marcus for 20% more than he makes now at a couple of years and have them be your spark. You're starting point guard and I think that also becomes more likely now that campus out of the picture because you need a point guard. And that's not to say that I expect that to actually happen. I mean we are still human beings and that's one Life In The Son also was started because we do deal with real life issues. And you know, sometimes they don't handle things away. we should that's true but nobody does not making excuses. I'm just saying we still have the human side of this to battle with and that's why life in the sun this podcast started so we could talk about how Christians deal with the day-to-day rigors of normal life. Our life doesn't change to something much more pleasant and much he's dead. Here because we became Christians. It's typically harder. I tell you what before we get started in the main part of the show. I wanted to tell you what I thought when I first got saved and started reading the Bible for myself. I was twenty nine years old and you know, I knew some things about God mainly cuz I grew up in the Catholic church, but all I heard was God's love and God's grace and mercy, he knows everything. He's everywhere, you know that sort of stuff. But as far as reading the Bible I was doing this for the first time and I started out I was going to read all the way through from Genesis to Revelations and I started finding things that were humorous to me in the Bible and one of those things was Adam and Eve's fall in the garden that go and hide themselves like because I hear God coming and garden. And it really tickled me to no end when God comes to the garden and he says Adam, where are you? Does anybody else find that funny wage wage? All right. I hope you found a little bit of the humor in that like I did anyway, but then again, you know, I was a newborn Christian when I first read it, so it was funny to me back then and I do realize that there was a reason for God just asking a time where it was. So I hope you found the humor in it off because I didn't but anyway what I want to talk about today is what a lot of people for some reason, you know, you hear this all the time. We don't mix religion with politics here. Well good. I'm glad because I don't like either one. And I'm going to take the same position as John Wayne here. Okay, politicians and diapers have a lot in common. They're both full of it and they both need to be changed often for the same reason, but let's let's be sincere about something. Okay. A lot of people in this country have no idea really what politics is all about. A lot of people have no idea what the difference between Christianity and religion is And a lot of people my age couldn't even recite the Preamble of the Constitution to you much less tell you what it means. And therefore they do what the Constitution means they don't know what it says. They listen to what people tell them and you know, I'm just going to be blunt here. Okay. America we need to get our heads out of the sand. Okay. It's the politicians that we vote for our supposed to be representing the constituents. And when we elect somebody we're supposed to be electing people that we trust that will represent our best interests. And I mean that's just the basics of it really and and don't think that it only took fifty six men about two hours to write all this stuff. It took a long time. And i'm super excited to hear all your stories because i'm sure you have a really crazy ones from all the places you've been. Let's start with which one you think. Is the craziest driving story of them all. Oh we have definitely had a little crazy driving stories a lot of the time. It's not driving as self And the one that definitely comes to mind at the start would be al time. In northern colombia. Traveling at will play kabale. Bella which is pretty much a middle of norway pursuing. It's almost the northernmost point of south america and it's not a allowed to travelers go. They say it's kind of like the wild west of columbia so it's pretty far off the beaten track and even just to get it takes a bit of emission. He goes had couple of buses in a couple of different small mini vans. And then you finally get to a little place called arabia where you take you jump into a full and this is not your standard full by full. This is a four by four that has been so personally modified to have sate. Elise a dozen people in the back. Try like a pickup truck and the journey. There is four hours of bumping around in sloshing around in the mud depending on the season being crammed with about a dozen people into a full person seda and picking up a lot of livestock along the way like chickens and guards in all kinds of crazy things. So you are basically crammed in the back of this four by four with at least a dozen other people of course all locals. We were the only other travelers who went that far. I guess and then random animals start coming in so we had piglets on the floor. We had baby goats on the floor at a chicken on my lap at one stage. I think i had a baby on my lab. I wonder if we had a little baby. Sir whose baby was but there was a lot of south coming in and on our way back out was the same thing tons of livestock tons of animals just like feathers everywhere and we were leaving very early in the morning. It was maybe four. Am before it was even light out. And we were stopping at all of these farms in little houses along the way and we had some unexpected visitors strapped to the roof. We had three shoes. Desert tortoises will probably about six foot wide Honestly the biggest ever seen in my life and about five or six men were putting it on top of the roof. I don't know where it was going. The poll seeing but Yeah it was quite a wild ride. Yeah it was literally wild. Ride just filled with animals animal. The funny experience is that common for them to like four turtles or tortoise on the roof that he's definitely how i told us on the roof experienced but it is quite common for them to travel with livestock especially when you're traveling in rural areas in indigenous communities. Quite common for them to you. Know they got the coming from the local markets so they've got a chicken and it's tied up. They've got a guard or luke pig. Hug todd their fate name jumping the boss jump jumping the car and go back home. And that's fairly common. We they call it. Chicken buses in central america raisin. There's a lotta chickens on him. Where the animals with you for most of your trip or like how long were you with. The animals offset hotan. So this place. Here is is pretty oscillated. So this is a few rule. Sort of villages Affiliates little so to commune areas along the way but most of the people going from sort of point either point bay and they traveling with all that livestock eight a two they were bringing it back so yeah pretty much the whole four hours. We will sloshing around in the back of these full by four pickup truck with a whole bunch of animals and people just like one guy with a chicken. Walk it off but then one guy with tj can gets on so it's always balancing let made you choose to go there out of all the places since it's not a very typical worse destination executives and at that point we had spent probably Maybe a year in latin america. And we were just ready to get like pushed the boundaries. And get even far off the beaten track and just really wanted to go where we're not going to be surrounded by backpackers cause of knives and colombia and peru in those countries you kind of end up on the tourist trail and you just get stuck with me. No and it's great. You make a lot of friends that way. But you're kind of sick of just being surrounded by backpackers all the time. So we wanted to go somewhere where it's just all locals. We could really get to know the culture and just push boundaries basically and that seemed like the best option and it was an interesting experience. We're definitely the only travelers we saw their ended up sleeping in hammocks outside of this cabin thing in the wind and the rain and we just wayne in this hammocks is pretty intense but it was beautiful just super rugged pristine landscape out there right on the coast but still very desert and dry and yeah is really gorgeous and we'd heard that the junior was half the adventure and definitely was probably one of fiber journey stories that we tell because destination was out there. In testimony today, an FBI agent detailed an alleged plot To kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and we're learning that anti government paramilitary groups reportedly also considered Ralph Northam as a target. Now his office has just released a statement that says the FBI alerted key members of the governor's security team about the threat, but that because of security protocols, neither the governor nor other members of his staff were informed about it. We're following anti government paramilitary groups that plotted to kidnap the governor of Michigan also Oh, discussed kidnapping Virginia Governor Ralph Northam. That was the testimony this morning from an FBI agent and a court hearing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Special Agent Richard Trask said the discussion about Governor Northam happened during a meeting in Ohio back in June.
