US Open Day 14 - Thiem at last; Zverev devastated

"I'M ALMOST THERE CAN BE A. A third I've just called the name of mine wrong. What was it called ready What's his real name? I'm on my second bid David. Leads you've just opened third Tonia. Catherine. It's an Aq-. It's an Eq-. Right okay. So. Yeah. I'm drinking San Miguel apparently others call semi Guel. Not to worry about three of them. We've just watched the men's singles final. It is the sort of final that makes me feel like I've had about five days. Even if I haven't because it's. A meandering delirious. I don't really know how to sum it up. It was just but. Yeah I'm slightly worried that the match is just a big blur in my mind and I'm going to struggle to talk about what actually happened. I can remember very strongly the feeling of it happening and how I felt watching it. I think that will be etched into my mind forever because it was one of those matches by the end I was just so an egg tense for both players A. But trying to rationalize what happened might be quite a difficult task I think. Is a bit light last year's final when ref on the Dow lead two sets to love and a break. And that looked over and then suddenly it was in a fifth set is it bit lineup? No. I didn't think. It was follow quality I would say. I thought I thought. was really good like the whole time. This one was patchy. But the idea of it being not that interesting because looking like going to be a straight sets win. And then suddenly you don't want the match to end and you wanted to go on forever in that sense, it was similar. But I don't think quality-wise or. Sort of the reasons for why ended up being such a dramatic match were that similar tall I also think that Medvedev's comeback last year was completely unexpected I think again somebody like. Nidal or not somebody like against Nidal, if love down in your first Grand Slam final. Very few people are predicting away back I think even at sets breakdown today. People will. I think most people watching. Were waiting dominate team to wake up and. Waiting for something that felt like, surely, it has to happen surely at some stage today even if it's only. A small research and see and I am a break back pushing the set to a tiebreak. Winning a set. People were waiting to see the real. Dominic team. It felt. It felt like only a matter of time whether he could get it together. In time. Before it was either. But for me, that was quite crucial difference in how this one felt. Lost felt I will remember this match I think in the long run for the final set and for the final set tiebreak but. You can't have that without the other stuff that comes before just two guys. So, let's talk about that talk about the start of the match. And how we it was. It was weird. It was I mean festival Amazon deserve. Totally, different men to the guy who came out against public arena buster looked. Just, totally paralyzed with nerves and unable to play his normal game. He looked free now there for those first two sets, he looked languid he has. He has a languid power. Unlike, anybody else I think when you he said of generates speed of shot whether it's the serve of one hundred and seventy seven miles now or four hundred. That's kind of hit the back fence without you realizing he's actually hit it that hard. I don't think anybody else gives me that. kind of feeling out on the circuit of the moment you can. I can feel the power of everybody else is almost a slight of hand the way he does it, but he was timing the ball way way better and also the intent was there and he was coming into the net I mean the statistics on his net approaches. I think after a sense set in half to gone to the net twenty times. And with some success, he looks uncomfortable at the net, but he was just playing. The odd. So masters using his six foot six inches his wingspan. Great. Get into the net. And Dominic team was absolutely awful.

California Wildfire Takes The Home Of A Veteran Firefighter

"Devastation in California from deadly wildfires is historic so far this year thousands of wildfires have devoured more than a million and a half acres an area more than three times larger than Los Angeles where I am the Lmu lightning complex fire is now the second largest in the state's history and the flames did not spare Andy Stan Dana's home. He's a twenty three year veteran with the South San Francisco Fire Department. He spent decades saving other people's homes A-. Lost everything as he put it less Wednesday, his farm, his home, many of his animals but he and his wife are safe and he and his wife Sarah Hawkins join me on the line from winters California about an hour northeast of San Francisco. Thank you both for taking some time for us. I can't imagine what you've been through. Thank you for having us. Anti I WANNA start with you, I mean as I said, you've been a firefighter for twenty three years your own property now, hard hit by this fire just talk to me about this fire if you've ever battled anything like. I have not in not many people can say that they've battled in fires or been in fires or experience fires. Of such size and magnitude and at the speed that this move. Seemed unprecedented will yeah I mean talked to any Andy you at home asleep and off-duty when when it came your property and can you take me to the moment when you realize that it was this out of control? We actually received multiple phone calls back to back from our neighbor than they lost everything also, but they called US woke up and said Hey. We've been giving notification from their son who is a local firefighter that it's bad. Up I went outside and did a quick assessment of what I could see and I could see The Ridge linked to behind us. All aglow and we're talking miles and miles of miles from my right to my left as I looked out the back door I hurried in and woke up Sarah. We quickly got dressed through a few things in bags. Made sure we had identification with us in a little bit of money in made sure the cars were pointed out I then went out to kind of assess what was going on based on my training and years of service saying what am I seeing and I've never seen a fire front of that size coming towards off sweep had fires back there in the past than it seemed like everything changed the winds picked up it turned ninety degrees on US instead of coming out of the West that came out of the north. and. The Sarah had joined me to kind of just see what was going on and by that time we turned around and realize there is a flaming front coming behind us. From our north and it was going to flank our exit we ran for the cars and we got out of there with flames. Close enough that I had to get in on the passenger side of the truck instead of the driver's side because it was too much fire on that side of the car to get in and we. Got Out it just came so quick. Well. I'm so. Relieved that you tour safe? Sarah what. was going through your mind I mean, did you feel like you were going to get out of there somehow? Lows pure adrenaline when we had gone out to assess where the flames were coming from where the fire was coming and all of a sudden just hear this roar from the North was kind of shocking that it was coming so fast and the flames were as high as they were they should not have been that high. And it was like we gotta go and I ran in the house and grabbed the dog and just I had to literally throw her into the car because she was so panicked at the flames and just. Get Out. Have you been able to assess what you've lost in what condition the properties in. We've lost everything. But our barn Oliver farming equipment, our greenhouse, the house, the house is just. A six inch layer of crumbled drywall and shattered tile. And We lost all of our Jeanne you're. does that we were retaining the GO-TO you're talking about him in Europe prize? Breeders? Should say. What are those goats mean to you? Have worked really hard on my breeding program and every year we have babies and I bottle feed all of them so that they'll be friendly and I know all of them I know all their names I delivered all of them there. It's It's not just a place obviously Sarah this is your livelihood and your business already we were in a in a pandemic in a faltering economy I mean how have you even begun to think about how you move forward and what's next now? Just, barely spend an hour or two just looking through. Shirts at a donation place and like shoes and supplies. We don't. You know we have a couple of t shirts and we have a couple of pairs of shorts. There's so much to do. Just regarding the house burning down. and. Trying to figure out next steps because there's not really much of a handbook on. When you're houses burned down where the two of you know I take it you're safe now. Yeah. We're currently staying with a friend best friends people ask if we're safe and we're like, we are safe. Now you know we do have a place to stay for now, but we can't stay here for six months. India are you go back into to? Fight these fires again soon or are you going to get some time away to deal with? What's how might department? My Department was Gracious. Enough to. Extend, as much time as I needed I I was able to take vacation for the immediate tour after it happened. But? Yes. I will be going back to work. Soon enough and will be there for the public as a protector in. Twenty years in the fire department another eight years before that on ambulances. So I've been serving the public for over thirty one years and continuing until. Retirement sometime in the near future. Andy. And Sarah Hawkins I'm I'm just glad you two are together and safe and You know we'll be thinking about you. Thank you. Thank you so much.

Looking for a MacBook Air alternative? Here are your best options

"With kids about to head back to school either in person or Colle- laptops. Are. Front. And Center. Now Michalak. Air is a popular option. There's actually a pretty wide world outside of Mackerel S I'm Roger Chang and this is your charge. With me laptop expert and senior reviewer Josh Goldman. Thanks for joining me. Josh. Thanks for having me, Roger. So we're getting close to back to school season and who knows what? That's really gonNA look like you know we've got folks potentially going my kid's GonNa. Go to school with a bunch of people doing remote learning But with that said, parents will generally WANNA decent laptop for their kids no matter what their ages at this point Just start things off do you have a general tips for people on the hunt for Nick Peter? The, the one thing having you know, ended the the last school. In Quarantine the one thing I did learn from that was if you can afford to get it laptop with a larger screen than the eleven point six inch screen that most of the kids have on their chromebooks. chromebook obviously, he became really popular with schools. Except they went with models that have eleven point six inch screens which are very difficult for navigating the world of online learning. A lot of the online learning tools require more screen space so that the kids can actually see what they're doing and I think if you're going to invest in a laptop for your kid this season, get them something with at least a thirteen inch display fourteen if possible or even larger if he can. So what about touchscreen is that something that's necessary or is that more of a luxury I don't know that it's a luxury some or necessary I think it's just something that you can get these days as far as I'm concerned. touchscreens of the future everybody uses their phone all day long that's a touch screen tablets touchscreens. It makes sense for kids to have a touchscreen because that's how they're used to communicating with computers these days so. If you can get one with a touchscreen. Great. I don't think it's going to be a detriment though if you don't get one with a touchscreen and since we're talking about MAC books anyway or air replacement. macbook airs don't have touchscreens anyway. So if you're GONNA go macbook air, then you're not getting a touchscreen anyway. But one of the luxuries of gone with windows is you can get them with touchscreen. So catching and the MAC book air has been a popular option for a long time for students particularly college students But generally, what are some of the big reasons why you'd want to consider alternative is far as an alternative? if want to go with the chromebook, it's because that's what your school district is on. That has that makes things a lot easier than. Going with a separate operating system like windows or Mac os but the bigger thing for a lot of people going back to school is whether or not there their software that they need to get through school is going to work with the operating system that they have other than that it's more or less just learning to deal with the different features in the different houses. So it's not. I wouldn't say that like the OS is a big issue, but it's certainly an issue and you WanNa, just make sure what you're using his compatible with the operating system that you're going. Guys let's start with windows the the most popular operating system out there. What are some of the best options for a windows laptop. So if we're going to stick with the like as a macbook air replacement the macbook air has over the years been the most popular option for kids in school and or in college in high school students but they're. Obviously the the windows PC makers figure that out pretty quick and made a lot of laptops that look and behave in everything that MAC book air. So you've got things like. If you WANNA go really premium. Got Things like the daleks ps thirteen or the HP Specter which have a lot of the same design touches and it's just a super premium long battery life good performance and around thousand dollars. which is what you're dealing with with the macbook air. You're still at around that thousand dollar price point for their starting configuration. You can as usual get a better deal with with windows than you can with Mac. He'll usually get more features better processor, those kind of things with you go with windows. If you want to go. So those two that I mentioned her thirteen inch. If you want to go a little bit larger, my personal recommendation for most people is the Lenovo. Yoga. See Seven, forty, it's a two and one. So it's a little bit more flexible. It's a fourteen inch little bit larger screen, but still a nice compact package really good battery life really good performance and you can get it for less than a thousand dollars yen full disclosure I took joshes advice in actually purchased one. My wife and I are very happy with it so. On Josh thank you, it is it. It's one of those laptops that looks and feels like a Mac Book Air Bit and a you just getting you're getting more for your money with it. If, you want to go even less expensive on windows I like the acer swift three, which is running amd's latest rising processors and those the the processing performance you're getting out of that is like twice that of more more expensive laptop. So it's it's or should I say the processing performance is that of a laptop that's twice as expensive. Because as the swift three starts at around six hundred dollars and it's a three pound laptop fourteen inch display really really nice. Good. Battery Life But yeah, it's it's really cheap with good performance.

Dual-screen Surface Duo marks Microsoft's return to smartphones

"The other exciting future is foldable Microsoft's screen android device. The surface duo is available for preorder now for one. Hundred Ninety nine dollars, ask. Arriving September tenth. Being being excited about this product, the surface duo has to eighteen hundred, thirteen, fifty, five, point, six, inch, sixty, hertz led screens. Now when you unfolded those screens connect to form an eight point, one inch workspace, but it's not a single screen like with the Samsung Galaxy full because there's still the hinge in the middle and Microsoft's like we're not trying to be that. We're not trying to to have a foldable screen. We're just trying to make a bigger workspace displays are both gorilla glass as a result because they don't have to bend and they work as side-by-side Ma monitors essentially, it's four point eight millimeters thick another big. That's when it's open. Of course, it folds up it's nine point nine millimeters even then it's not too bad. Also the whitest ever android phone. As. Ours Technica pointed out ninety three millimeters wide that is bigger than even the biggest galaxy note that ever existed. It uses one eleven megapixel camera that can record four K. video at up to sixty frames per second runs on a snapdragon eight, fifty, five last generation processor, not eight, sixty five. Six Gigs of Ram. One hundred twenty eight or two, hundred, fifty, six gigs of storage has lt e not five g. but maybe don't. And two batteries one under each screen that combined for three thousand, five, hundred, seventy, seven Nila amp hours. So the specs aren't. Notch they're they're okay but they're not top notch also fingerprint reader sport for surface pen. All ANDROID APPS can run on it. And there are surface. Made. APPS AN API out. For developers to make more of them, that take advantage of the dual display and could like put the keyboard and one side or no taking on one side. And Get. Use Out of that form factor. But as I mentioned, it's a thousand, three, hundred, ninety, nine dollars, and while that's not as expensive as the Samsung Galaxy fold it ain't cheap. Yeah. It feels like a test. To me because at that price and at these specs, you're gonNA find out real quick who your buyers are and. And will extend past the people who just have to have the coolest gadget where a total android heads and have to have every model ever made or love Microsoft stuff or whatever does it extend much past that the two most exciting products I've ever seen out of Microsoft is honestly this I think is really cool. But the specter too low, and there's not a great argument for use case for me

What's Killing My Tomato Plants?

"David is having some real trouble with tomatoes. He says, his tomato leaves are wilting at the very top of the leaf and then a few days later they start turning a botchy blotchy black, and then about a week after that, they start dying altogether he's lost forty tomato plants this way and he wants to know what you think he can do about it. Now his problem and mine are very different. And I I laugh only because the difference mine were just flat out eating they were perfectly healthy. Not a spot on them. Numb David's problem is very different and it sounds like he may have a problem with them called Sept. Oria leaf spot I kinda wish I could talk to David at this point. But at the same time I have to make some assumptions I'm going to guess. That in you have to deal with prophylactic in considering containing many many diseases you have to prevent it. That's the big word. Prevention starts by buying plants have been what's called indexed for V F and that's virus cerium, wilt and Nematodes, and that on top of those three comes one called sectorial leaf spot. And it's a plant where I'm going to Bet David got a busy started his seedlings either indoors or planted the seeds early they grew like topsy. We had plenty of moisture in sunshine this spring for them to just have really rebelled now then. That makes for a plant has softer skin. So to speak, which is good in many ways, however, it allows or organic disease germs. If you will to jump onto them, start to grow enter through the softer skin or or flashier leaf if you will and away they go when he's lost that many I'm going to bet he's using the same spot in the garden. For them more than one year that could leave Satori spores right there. Waiting to get into a new plant each year I have to guess 'cause it can't ask. But with that kind of loss which which is now significant when you have that many plants gone he he will probably have to. Say shelter in place as the rest of us are doing ovid for right now I don't think there's anything you can do at this point other than to spray the plants that are healthy with a fun side. Now, Mark was head of the game here with it being an email, he was able to look up on his electronic skills of a new material for me. It's it's a fund, your side called serenade something I don't know a thing about, but that is the Mamie found then we go. Back to I do know about and that is material hang on now called Chloro- Fallon Nil C. H. L. O. R. O., T. H. A. O., and I along name for a good good funchess is however with all fungal materials you have to prevent them if you can't really do much once they have gotten going. So right now I am afraid his forty plants are probably shop period. The best thing to do would be jerk him outta there Burnham or or get them in the trash and off the property. Then year by all means plant the tomatoes in a new spot even if you have to repair the area because it can carry over into soil splash backup on the young tender new leaves and start the process. So it's going to go into a then once he gets them planted hopefully in a new spot or better spot that he will then start as soon as there are significant leaves. Now, by that, let's just say the seedling is six inches tall eight inches tall it's out in the garden at. This point then is when you start spraying, you put a fund aside on the leaves up under the leaves down the stem, the whole that so that you can keep the spores from this disease from getting started in the first place. Then because the material does weaken with time sunlight, we ended a cetera he's GonNa have to spray every seven to ten days to keep a fresh coating of close. Ellendale et Cetera eating good common fund side we'll help. But at the same time, that's one of the better ones.

Unwanted Truths: Inside Trump’s Battles With U.S. Intelligence Agencies

"Us now is Robert Draper writer at large for the New York Times magazine. He's the author of several books including most recently to start a war how the Bush administration took America into Iraq Arbor draper has just published this landmark piece of reporting the Times magazine. It's called unwanted truth this inside trump's battles with US intelligence agencies among the scoops embedded here is news that. The. White House pressured the Director of National Intelligence to change and intelligence community conclusion that Russia wanted president trump reelected in two thousand, twenty, the intelligence director at the time Dan Coats said, no, he was then fired his successor signed off on the change, but he was then fired after one of his deputies briefed Congress that in fact, Russia is working to reelect president trump this year. Mr Draper I, thank you for this reporting for joining us here tonight to help us understand it. Thanks very much for your time. I've said a lot of words about the. Words that you have reported here and that you have printed. Let me just ask if I got anything wrong or if you think that I'm looking at anything the wrong way around. To actually think presences I did when issue two clarifications the I rooted in the most important is that I am not aware the Joe McGuire had anything to do with the alteration of the National Intelligence Estimate this all took place during his first couple of weeks on the job when his hands were very much full with Ukraine whistleblower incident as you correctly pointed at and so this really. Anthem it matter win the in I was approved on September the twenty six inch testifying on the hill all day long. So he wasn't able to cheer that meeting. So that's the first second thing is that You know they're a don't want the story to give anyone the impression that the intelligence community as a whole has been bent to the will of Donald Trump. There's still plenty of analysts in case officers who are doing very good work. The problem is that the people above them have been in the line of fire with the trump administration and had begun to water down such that the intelligence products do not have the integrity that they once did not mean saying black is why end up as down but they are saying things in a more equivocating fashion and we saw this most recently just out of this past Friday. On a no deny official release this election security report saying that for the first time did yes it did appear the Russia. Trump essentially the same breath saying that China in Iran. Favored Biden is if it were kind of a jump ball or something in that was working patient, you did not see before the trump presidency. I feel like I. Thank you for for those clarifications and for drilling down on those things in that way I feel like. When I read it, the beginning of your piece that Dan Coats was pressured to change the National Intelligence Estimate around Russia's intentions for the two thousand election and he said, no felt like, wow, that's that's really big news about Dan Coats to find out that that happened just before he was fired. Is itself a scoop. But then to find out that the National Intelligence Estimate. was in fact watered down in the way that the White House wanted under Joe McGuire. It it does seem like the sort of bending to the White House's will equivocating on things that aren't equivocal casting things in a way that doesn't you know is designed not to upset the president or put things in ways that he likes it does feel like it's not just pressure, but it's effective pressure that's actually working on the I say. Over sharing in. A. probably Rachel that the matter of. Russia in election security has been a sore subject since before trump's presidency and everyone knew I in the NFC in the West Wing and certainly in the intelligence community that to bring the very matter of Russia interfering in two thousand sixteen, it's likely interference patterns through the midterms and into twenty twenty an most of all that if they were trump would be to call into question the legitimacy of this presidency. "I'm GonNa talk about Samsung's announcements mean. Not that big phone day it is phone day I swear phone week phone months. out. That said the new Google phone. It's the little brother to the Pixel four and four xl, which is now by the way discontinued. In sound all that well less than a year after its announcement. That's it. You might see some in stores and stuff leftover inventory, but it's gone no more no more what we made the foray however already the fastest best selling phone. On Amazon unlocked phone on Amazon and I think that that's really a testament to the fact that we're done paying thousand dollars for phones. We want good phone decent phone and we want one for. Let's say three hundred fifty bucks, which is the price for the four. A. However Samsung is still pushing at that at that boundary they announced the Samsung. Note Twenty, and the note twenty ultra. Starting at nine hundred, I think. For the one no one's going to buy and then thousand and up, and I think you can get to fourteen or fifteen hundred dollars on the ultra. And then and then they announced that ain't all. They announced galaxy. Folk Galaxy Fault. Galaxies said fold to I don't where Z. is for. The, Galaxies Z. Fold to. And this is the successor. The second and a half successor. I think really you should say to the galaxy fold that was the galaxy fold when it came out remember they had all these problems with it like the reviewers it was screened was breaking so they may hold on wait a minute maybe we can fix that took it back they adjusted it put a new screen. Cover on and stuff like that and ship did. So that's the one point five, and now we're doing two point five. It's actually probably a better phone six point, two inch screen on the front that used to be really skinny and small. Now, it's decent normal basically inside you unfold, you open it up and you've got a seven point six inch. Screen. And I'm really tempted because I I WANNA. Know if these folding phones I wanNA know if that's a cool. Thing. There's no stylus. Note for that there's not a note it's his own thing. It's the Z. The said I'll call the said fold to. Redesign hinge four, thousand parts. They were showing all the parts. I don't know if that's a good thing. It's got a little vacuum cleaner thing. Little brushes in it. So that crumbs don't cut in that was a problem with the first one still has a little. kind of like Lacrosse, down the middle when you open it up.

How Do Tanuki Work?

"In June of twenty, two, thousand, nineteen, a couple in a small village in Nottinghamshire Great. Britain woke at four am to an eerie sound they ventured out and discovered an animal that never seen before his thing and attacking a goat on their farm. After rescuing the goat they took a photo of the beast and promptly posted it online. The animal was four-legged and fluffy. It moved like a dog but had a face and markings like a raccoon. It turns out there unwanted visitor was a canoe Katie sometimes called a raccoon dog. To learn more about these unusual critters we talked by email to Jennifer Andrew, a member of the carnivore team at Zuid Lanta she helps take care of zoo, Atlanta's to to NUKII or and Loki. Zoo, Atlanta is just one of two zoos in the United States that houses to not the other is the Oklahoma City Zoo. Indra explained to new key our dogs genetically and morphological logically speaking they get the nickname raccoon dog primarily because of their similar coloring and coat patterns. The only other true similarity raccoons is that they occupy the same niche as raccoons do in nature even though they live on different partners. To NUKII range in size from about one point, five to two feet long that's about point four, five, two point, nine meters with a tail adding another six inches or one point, five meters they weigh anywhere from eight to twenty, two pounds around three and a half to ten kilos therefore can be golden great or reddish brown but their shoulders, legs, and the tips of their tails are blocked and their facial markings are similar to a raccoons including the black mask around the eyes. They're originally from eastern Asia including Japan, which is where the word to new key comes from, and where the animal is a cultural icon images of have appeared in everything from folklore and literature to anime and advertising the mythological versions sometimes called Buckeye Nukii, our spirit creatures, tricksters, and shape shifter's that love gold and are often depicted with a big belly and a particularly large scrotum. The Rise of the Ratty Muscle Cars

"Hello my friends and welcome back to another episode of talking Mo- part before we kick things off, I just wanted to announce that. In case you have not heard the build Mo- par project car has been chosen and we. The people have decided that the modern Hemi will be going into a nineteen sixty eight dodge DART superstock tribute car, so now Hemi pages is on the hunt for nineteen sixty eight dodge DART hardtop to use as the platform for the built. So if you or anyone you know is selling a nineteen sixty eight dodge DART. Please reach out to my friends over a Hemi pages. You can go to Henry Pages. Dot. Dot Com or even build. Mo-. Par Dot com and reach out to those guys and let him know what you got. This is going to be a really exciting build, and if you didn't get a chance to vote on the first round, be sure to vote in on the next rounds and also tell all your friends about this project. We need to blow this thing up. We need to get thousands. Hundreds of thousands hopefully, millions of people involved in this and just see what we can come up with as a community I'm sure we can cook up something crazy, so that should be really fun. Maybe you've got a moped project. Project you're building or maybe you just went out and bought yourself your I. Mo par. Maybe it's not a show car. Maybe it's a little ratty. That's what we're talking about here today. I WanNa talk about the rise of the ratty muscle cars, because it seems to me that in the past few years, these ratty muscle cars and radio trucks have blown up. They are huge right now and I think I have the answer as to why this is occurring, but you know. I think it's multifaceted, but I really liked the movement I think it's an awesome movement. I think. It opened some doors for people that would otherwise not be able. Able to get into a muscle car. I think it lowers the barrier for entry for people like myself that don't have a lot of money can't buy show winning car that can't buy a fully restored Khuda or something crazy like that, but maybe you found a ratty mo par in your local classifieds for a couple of grand that needed a little bit of work, but you could tow it home and get running and driving lickety-split and get it on the road. That is Iraqi muscle car, and that's what I like to see. I love to see these cars on the road and not rotting into the ground. I think it's awesome. So now that we're warmed up, let's get this show on the road. This week project car the week is actually a truck that was posted on Wednesday July twenty, second at three PM, and going with the theme of ratty muscle cars and ratty trucks I thought this was a perfect fit, and it also happens to be really cool and has a ton of potential and would make an excellent project vehicle for anybody that wants to get in the Mo- par game and doesn't have a lot of coin in their pocket, so let's get into the at. Nineteen Seventy Dodge D. One hundred short box, five, thousand, six, hundred ninety five dollars Columbia Falls Montana lowered six inches the right way twenty inch wheels out back in eighteen inch up front wheels and tires, brand, new three eighteen auto, call or text titles. Status is clean. All right folks what we have here is what appears to be a running driving nineteen seventy truck. And it's got a cool Patina on it. It is not a show truck by any means if you think you're going to get. Show quality paint, and no dense dings or bumps bruises. You are wrong now. In case you're new to the show. I am a huge fan of mope par trucks and especially the nineteen seventy two to nineteen eighty, because I do have seventy six myself but I really love the early swept lines, and they have a ton of potential, but the good thing about trucks. For some reason they look amazing when their team it out. Maybe it's just me and now don't get me wrong I. Do love a beautiful. Beautiful Show Truck I. Love Him. I think they're gorgeous. There's something about an old. You know for lack of a better term farm truck that I really like especially ones that are slightly customized. You know little lowered with some nice wheels. They just have a personality and its personality that I really liked the nice thing about this one is that runs drives so like many of the other project cars? We've talked about the past. You can go out and enjoy this thing while you work on it this. This thing is good to go scout brand, new wheels and tires on it, and you know what it runs and drives. It's got a three eighteen in it, so you can keep three eighteen, or you can upgrade. Get a modern. Hemi, you know five thousand this. You could probably get this trump for five grand,

'Chance the Snapper': Chicago's Humboldt Park alligator one year later

"Chance the snapper was first spotted in the Humboldt Park Lagoon and a week later rather, a week later, his life's changed forever. The alligators saga from a year ago created two celebrities Chance the snapper and alligator rob, otherwise known as Frank Rob, the Florida man who caught chance and took him to warmer climes in Florida. Rob says he visits chance every month or so at chances home. At the ST Augustine Alligator Farm. I think he kind of gives me that stink eye a little bit. Yeah, like man. Are you that guy again? Tag Navid. If you really can't, you're back here again, so that jokingly but they they don't forget. They're one of those animals that really their memory is so advanced. Their thought process is so advanced people give up, not a whole lot of credit, because again, they're brain small. Ah, alligator. His size has a brain the size of a great but unlike they're using every single bit of it. Rob says Chance grew six inches, the 1st 3 or four months. He was at the alligator Farm. Rob's life changed, too. When he came to Chicago, he says he still has a girlfriend here. Steve Miller News Radio, one of

"So I left confident on Friday morning went out to the beach that the snow would start at about three or four o'clock on Saturday. I'd be back long before that. And it was not going to be a big deal. When I got back the forecast. Had changed to four to six inches in the metro area four to six inches in the metro area. And that would have been okay total. But at my house yesterday at my house yesterday. I shoveled Ron came over and shoveled at about five to six inches at about ten o'clock in the morning yesterday and in the afternoon, and then there was a period of time with with light snow falling. No big deal in the afternoon. Twelve in three lights in the afternoons. When games were going on. I'm just going to tell you that. I think I got twelve inches of snow in my house. I really do and everything that was shoveled yesterday was worthless by last night and certainly worthless by this morning, and it was a big enough snow that it confounds the dog the dog can't find any place to make because the dog can't sniff. The dog has to stick its nose all the way down in the snow and still doesn't get any sense that it can really use. I believe that they were hopelessly hopelessly inadequate in their predictions. I believe that they had it wrong. All the way up to the end. They just continued to have it wrong and wrong and wrong. And I hope Melissa malay-. I hope she's happy. I hope she's happy doing snow angels. Yeah. I hope she got into work today with with whatever car they had to send for and as of yesterday at yesterday at noon or two or three the main roads were fine. And Michael, you think you think? I'm wrong in being this critical. I think you're correct in being critical. But you're misplacing the timeline. You should not be mentioning any forecast from Thursday or Friday at this point because it did shift a little bit later. I think you need to be a little heavier in your criticism of yesterday's forecast. After three pm we make the decision to come over to your house because they say there's one to two inches of snow remaining in the system at that point. We'd already had five to six we'd already taken care of the drive of the sidewalk will get into sidewalk etiquette after this. But there is another four to five inches after three P. I had to go back out, and there's still accumulating snow until nine when you're trying to. When you're trying to make travel plans even locally that to me is where the big misses. I don't think you can really hold much weight with what they're saying on Thursday because that does continue to change. And I do think you need to recognize capital weather gang still does it very good job. All the all the TV radio people. They just missed yesterday afternoon. There were there were there were two distinct events where I live. There was a five to six inch snowfall Saturday night into Sunday, which they essentially nailed I thought yes, they said one inch between seven p in about eleven to midnight. And then there was an there was about four hours of nothing. Clear roads, it was fine. And there wasn't a nother five where I live. I had eleven inches another five to six inches. Yes. They have that. Which was completely uncalled for as as recently as Sunday morning. They were saying a winter storm watch in effect through one or maybe it was four o'clock on Sunday. Then as the day went on that became six, and then it became eight and then at eight they were saying it was going to snow until midnight, which it extensively where I.

In the meantime, let's get Gary, Gary, welcome. Hey, Gary, thanks for taking my call. You bet you I have a question for you. I have a deck. It's about seventeen by twelve. It's the treated wood. Now, it's about eight to ten years old. Honestly, it has you know, I live in the Cincinnati area. Of course, you how that weather is has no protection over have. No trees around it. Not like that. I mean, half shrubbery stuff like that landscaping. And it gets the direct sun. It's it's starting to ride on me. I mean, I've lost two steps. Probably and last year and a half that I've replaced. I'm getting tired of the wood. Do you have any suggestions on tracks? Or is there a PVC? I mean, I'm not there. Boy, you got certainly plenty of choices. Yeah. It's interesting. Why is that would rotting question? My wife, and I were sitting on a deck here. Just a few weeks ago. You know, we had all that rain. I know out we had like five six inches of rain sitting on the deck and one of the feet from the chair. To pressure treated wood pressure treated, I got. Yeah. I was shocked. Well, you know, we went through all this transformation of different types of pressure press would and there was a period in there where the pressure treatment wasn't really deep into that would in even now it's kinda working self out. Now the couple of years ago, they started this press wood for ground contact per shoe would for non ground contact in press treated non ground contact was just barely pressure treated in quite honestly, if he had the deck that was ten feet up in the air. There's leaves and gunk and water and dust. It's better use the ground contact. So I don't know if that was the case or not, but I got it at Home Depot and the gentleman told me that it was a newer pressure treated wood. Yeah. I'll bet you're right now. Period question. What it is. Yeah. Well, the world is certainly looking for other options the composite decking z-, you know, they're not cheap. But the maintenance is virtually nil outside of cleaning it, and there's so so let me in in a way, there's there's probably. Four major categories for decking. One is would one is a composite which is. Would flower in plastic in tracks timber tech and all that? But really, we're the whole industry's gone for probably less. Four years is a capped composite. Cap composite. Some are PBC I think the treks has a PVC cap composite the one I really like is one called decorators. And it has.

Yeah. They're talking about the superheroes. They don't. They don't kill their enemies. They don't kill the bad guys there. I don't know why this is being there. Some people have actually expressed concern about this, which is insane to me. They of course, they're like third wave feminists that are saying, well, spider-man's committing murder and all my goodness. And so now insomniac which is a developer of a game involving Spiderman they confirmed that he never kills anyone in the game. He's a protector and for the guys that get thrown off the building. "In saving commercials is already after they pretend to show them shaving but then they just focus on their shiny because they deemed hair body hair to be unattractive so this is the first razor company that's actually showing real hair on women i'm fine without it i am fine with the after i don't know if i need to see the shaving i don't really care either way to raise their way you i'm watching it now and i'm totally fine i don't care if there's hair or not here in the commercials the only thing i have a problem with is the close up of the razor with the heron it afterwards that you would i'm fine fine with the harry just don't want to see the wet hair in the race i don't the words i don't mind harry legs like if you're if someone's shaving harry i don't care about that but the armpits can't handle i think there should be an episode of the bachelorette where the bachelor shaves her legs there was one the season where they is fine he they painted her toes they didn't do any leg saving i don't think i would want a guy to shave my leg i don't trust them to be careful enough to not so yeah i agree with that i haven't tried it but legs are not straight they've got curves to them and now i've got too many razor nightmares i don't want to become no thanks i tried to teach lewis poaching egg last night it was disaster there's no way i'm gonna let him shave really anybody ever shave your legs no i like to do it myself asking unless you wanna you wanna take a wack at it we can would actually take a literal whack at it say goodbye to give me a break please come on weather and travel information lot of heavy rain a lot of flooding all the way from houston up into the ohio river valley this week is hot humid and wet and so there are people were thinking okay where's the hurricane season because it is time we had one earlier i think on wednesday almost six inches of rain at hobby airport and so that closed the airport down for a while and there's a there's a when you go into places like houston because of the hurricanes there's a fear the it's almost calculated into the residents there because they were so affected by these hurricanes and so now they hear the story about these big storms coming in but if you live close especially in that area the gulf coast you live close to the water you might as well count on getting washed away with regularity that's just the way it is and the insurance companies more and more saying the federal government also saying we're not gonna keep replacing these homes and it may not even be in a hurricane it could be we had here where i am last thursday we had three and a half inches of rain in four and a half hours it just poured and i ruined twenty grade bales of round hey that's me fifteen hundred bucks because we couldn't get into the field and get out fast enough and that's what happens that the people measure it by what's going on on the farm but in terms of traveling who'd go to houston on vacation anybody here want to go to houston and i'm not saying i'm not taking a shot at texas but why would you go to houston for vacation it's hot as you go to any major city though yeah that's a point i i live in new york city i wonder all the time like why are people here in different i'll tell you a great city frame vacation go to visit or take a vacation but when i go visit i found when i was travelling and visiting stations that it was on all around the country seattle is favorite stops as somebody seattle that is just fascinated great city boston those are the best north west you get up into vancouver as well victoria british columbia absolutely magnificent areas to go but if you're somewhere else in texas and you want to go to a city why wouldn't you go to dallas or houston i don't have an answer to that i don't even know couldn't even go to houston i'm sure there's plenty of reasons why people would with other than the bush library the presidential library i don't.

"I was fortunate at the store i purchased it online i i went online got there it was the only one left and people were yelling kind of like what's going on do you at eight this morning where they all go and hadn't ordered online paid for it would have been out of luck a lot of folks say it's not hot enough yet to get the air conditioner or not yet not yet and then you get to a situation like this and then you have to put it in during the heat it's gotta be a bummer because you have to keep the window open for a while you gotta you gotta go get it you gotta like an upstairs is this you folks is as you can unlock it upstairs you can take out of the box if it works generally i i haven't all done by springtime ali air conditioner filters clean you we wanna clean you filter can make a distinct difference i being a person who has has asleep in the day i want it dark cool so i've i've taken extraordinary measures to keep my place doc and cool one thing you can do and i did and i found it to be excellent is there's a type of film you can put over on the window which keeps a certain percentage of sunlight out it's kind of like sunglasses for your windows still seattle fine if you're totally forget it's there it's it's works great that takes some of the light and the heat out then you get sunblock shades white change the clock son also keep the heat at bay big help and what else oh yeah just make sure your air echinacea's position so that it's an window they'll do the maximum good fans help get air moving around very helpful fans as some folks in my family who are old and they need air conditioning and fans you need to watch out for people keep an eye on him keep him hydrated because they could they could get really dehydrated and have kidney failure i could pass out keep an eye on them and the thing they say about checking on your neighbor is true really do it and then have a plan for if they need something be prepared to do it it's a it's a least you can do it's kind of your duty if you have a mother or something go take care of her it's your duty and here's this too i saw i saw a woman walking white dog with big long hair the hamlets have been six inches long was kind of like a kind of like a miniature husky white i don't know what you call them and she's walking outside in the sun with his dog and i just think it's i think that's kind of animal abuse yeah i get it the the animals hairs beautiful but i think they ought to get a haircut for this heat it's not healthy for them to be in this heat with long hair like that i think probably the smaller the dog the more fragile they are and you ought to be careful make sure that you gotta make sure they have water and they stay stay in an air conditioned place this is you get two or three days into a heat wave like this to get serious i don't know if you're able to get out if you're out right now fans go for a walk and you walk by brick building put your hand in that building right now is it was still feel like the bricks from a fireplace after the fire i was pretty blown away i walked a little bit to work just a little bit to get to the bus and i put my hand on a building that had recently been in the sun and was shocked at how hot it was also cooking in the kitchen not good another hint led lights runway cooler than regular lights a lightbulb especially one hundred one up a lot of heat and it's counterproductive you can get real cheap led lamps to run at times like this that we'll keep you cooler what else that'll do it keeps them kind of lights down and if you still feel hot it's going to be way hotter if you standing up then if you sit down and if if you really want to be cooler sit on the floor now for people in big houses this stuff's not not as important because you can open windows and.

"Your weekend take care good night ankles sandy and here comes valerie valerie i won't sing the song oh okay thank you i'm sure i'm sure you know no no valerie oh another son named valerie sharon who's turning around my door but she sure looks different now the way she looked before they call her van it goes on i don't think it's a song by the monkees google it i'm sure you hear it okay thank you you're welcome my question is by husband has a ls and we're going to remodel our kitchen and our bathroom and i was just trying to find out about some kitchen innovations where the cabinets the interior of the cabinets can come down so that he can reach them he can't raise his arms and i had heard about these new types of cabinets where the interior of the show come down yes there are you know who you need to speak with is someone who specializes in universal design which is design for people of all abilities usually if you you know if you talked to someone at the the cabinetry store there are kitchen and bathroom designers that's civically have certification in universal design and can help you because you're going to want the cabinets that pull down i know exactly what you're talking about you grab a handle and they pulled down so that he'll be able to reach it you also can get cabinetry that you can roll underneath as well in wanna make sure that they're you know know thresholds that are going to the problem with threshold right thresholds are tough in the getting the walkers over threshold rate the the doorways need to be opened up to thirty six inches is inches thirty inches of rain right and thirty inches is going to be really really tight so thirty six inches should provide enough clearance and then in the bathroom of course you're going to need a lot of handrails so we have those we just perfect perfect we were told that we should change the way out of the bathroom so that the toilet is the first thing because that's what you use the most and then the shower we're getting rid of the tub and then the showers should be at the end that makes absolute sense and then you can also get rid of the threshold in the shower and install a linear drain so the so you can roll right into the shower area and then the the water goes along the side of the shower in the back and the the floor gets sloped up little bit so that the water slides down into it it's called the linear drain linear drain okay and that universal design is that a site or no that's a special certification that some kitchen and bathroom designers have they i would maybe look on well if you did a google search for room for universal design in your area i think that would probably be your best bet okay all right well thank you very much it's definitely a specialty so there are lots of little little tricks that that can be an and specific fixtures that can be installed to make life a whole lot easier that would be good that would be helpful you look up that song valerie by the monkees okay no less monkeys they were awesome was it was a dvd song love davey davey gone tonight valerie tonight thank you all right you were monkeys fan i did i loved that show and what about the music which was often written by neil diamond so what's not often not often sometimes well being boyce and hart a number of people wrote saw my favorite monkey song was written by carole king which one take a giant step oh i i album though you've played it i'm not gonna sing i'll just recited so you've played it love and loss and sorrow has turned your heart.

"Help you there your lawn your garden we talked to we talked a lot about grilling matter of fact tomorrow morning on channel third there's a throwdown there is a little yeah we're having we're having honey cashew now you've got food on your shoes down between the charcoal grill offers and the gas drillers any fistfights not at all tomorrow morning it's going to be mainly grill safety now here's some kind of interesting i was watching the today show on nbc this morning and they were doing some of the same information about one the number one things if you don't hear anything else never light a gas grill with the hood down you always have the lid up no kin always really obviously because proteins a heavier than air gas and it pulls down there all right they so what they did is they set up a couple of tests where they they started a grill and then ignited it with the grill and it just blows out the doors and really really can cause some cereal they did this as a demonstration yes yes you did that on chided i know i was watching that kind of budget our budget for our channel thirteen segments are just five dollars and forty cents that's just on the today show but here's the interesting thing that when they were doing this they had that grill and denny i am not lying six inches away from the house people you should never have real if you're if you're lighting a grill you should try to have every bit of thirty six inches she we have to share and now you have to show id to bioweapon shouldn't they have to show id to buy grass grill or at least i don't know what state i don't know that's how they're doing this demonstration mean the fire department was there conducting it but i'm taking you know good safety tip there is making sure your grill is sufficient away from sufficient distance from the house like to us thirty six inches yeah it's fine to store it there but when you're using it just pull it out a little bit you know anything that we always say how far should your conditioner be from the house we would say thirty six inches that's funny think about things that should not be next to the house your condition you gotta get airflow otherwise in speaking of which now remember your your air conditioners right now are absolutely maxed out there running flat out like lizard drinking they can't get any more btu cooling into so what can a homeowner due to just hedge their bet wasn't call thing all right so i would shut the curtains that's number one keep the solar out the other thing is you can go out with your garden hose and you can actually cool down your outside coil with just a little missed of a spray shoot from the inside you may still have cottonwoods stuck if you haven't been out and looked but giving but it's an it's an air cooling system on the outside and since it's ninety eight degrees right and what about filters how often filters handy i know it depends on the media i would see at least quarterly if you've got two inch media you might be go every four months and if you have the great big four inches or six inch you know the air bears or the the big media you could probably go six months i will tell you though if you're using those one inch electrostatic charge three m filters those things are so officiant they suck in so much turt which is great but if you forget to change it you're going to have problems so check the filter i remember two three nine ninety three ninety three coming right back with more from indie metro airport its wings over indy goes today till five o'clock some morrow nine to five ninetythree wibc.

"In your ductwork in the addict okay when you say adequate blown in insulation at the ceiling how thick is it at least six inches if not more okay so here's the vanishes of creating a properly installed unventilated semi condition attic roof line or attic space with a open cell spray urethane foam is that your air conditioning equipment and your duckworth are no longer in that extremely hot humid harsh addict conditions that it currently is in right now because your attic is ventilated in the insulation thermal boundaries at the ceiling line so as chestnut you're doing is you're you're raising a thermal boundary from the ceiling up to the underside of the roof line is the it should be installed continuous and uninterrupted in she'd be a complete air barrier and a thermal barrier so your attic is going to be cooler and drier gonna currently is now there's some complexities to that when you're dealing with existing house and you converting it or what we call a retrofit you have to remove the existing ceiling insulation that's there and francis by the way six inches of blown not enough it needs to be at least eleven or twelve inches thick in order for in our climate the other you need to do besides removing the ceiling salaciousness you need to make sure your kitchen your bathroom exhaust fans are vented ducted endangered all the way out not ninety but outside the roof lawn or the porch sailing on asaf it's if you have any gas appliances like gas water heater gas furnace that raises some complexities because now you're taking that gas furnace that was used to be invented attic and you're now putting it in a closed addict so there's so combustion air challenges that need to be over called and then finally the other last part on what you consider when making this choice is you're already replacing your windows and now you could be potentially taken away the heat and the moisture in your attic where you're conditioners and your echinacea could be sized to large scooby.
