"I think past this point you kind of wait and see how can't plays out you. You talked about a little bit earlier. I think it was either nater. Leo but You see who's cut you see who's released after training camp and you're making the final cut from the ninety man roster to fifty three man. I think that's the first point where you kind of look at your roster. You look at who's available. And then we could see some some roster massaging go on around that period of time. But i think if we're looking at a trade scenario for wide receiver. I think the the midseason trade might be The the the thing that makes the most sense because you can get a rental player A guy who's on contract maybe on a losing team who will be up at the end of the year that you can get for maybe fifth maybe a fourth but that can come in and be impactful right away. Maybe has experienced with kyle. Maybe already understands the system So that's kind of how i would envision everything kind of playing house forty niners gonna play cool They're gonna monitor the waiver wire. They're going to monitor who's available Up until the final roster cuts roster cuts. I may make a couple of decisions here there. and then we'll see what happens in season and if they're really suffering for more production out of that that room like let's say jalen hurd Doesn't come back and it gets injured again or we get. We see a couple of knock on wood. You know a couple of other injuries That's where i would see. More of a a trade center happened mormon in in season kind scenario. Yeah the that's just something very hard to predict in in june First monday of june. You'd hope the forty niners don't end up in that scenario. And and if they do like i would think that potentially maybe a guy like anthony miller from the chicago bears could be a target. His name has been out there. Oh yeah so. It's like even even michael gallup i highly doubt he's gonna get signed by the dallas cowboys and if they're trading him at the deadline they're not gonna get very much back in return so he could be a third round pick potentially even though is value could go as as early as a second round pick but then it you. You always come back to the okay. If it's a second round pick why didn't you go get julio in the beginning but yeah it's it's it's very hard to say right now. Hope believe one of these guys. Go ahead and step up. It's a contract year for richie james junior as well. Also i wouldn't write off. Maybe just having a kendrick bourne like season. We're talking about five hundred yards. Or so for richie. James junior and then he could go get a bag somewhere else. Just like i'll ton of players due on a contract year. Yeah i just think that if they could get another big body wide receiver another guide. That like Just you know has the potential to do something. I think that they would. He would fear the team a little more. Even if jimmy garoppolo the quarterback will start. I just you know obviously i. I love depot Can i'd love to see you know jalen hurd come out and just you know. Kill it but you know we. Last year we started the jalen kurds healthy. If jalen hurts healthy this wide receiver core then is is purdie freaking. Knac- will just say that. Let's talk about her real quick. Just because like the last time. I talked about jalen hurd on this. Podcast was the day he got hurt. I did a solo show and we talked about just you know. What do we do now because jalen hurd is just. There's so much hype around it. We'll start with you brad. When you think about jalen hurd you think about what you know. He's never played a snap in the nfl ever so never played a snap in the nfl. Huge big dude. Bigger than what. I think the niners have had in a long time and you know maybe not decay metcalf big but still big and i think that what we saw preseason game where he just got that dallas cowboys corner granted. It was like a second third string guy. you know. we hadn't seen in a long time. I think terrell owns did that. But i don't think colognes was this big so when you think about jalen hurd and you know you produce content about all the players all the time when you think about jalen hurd like what's the biggest thing that stands out to you like what is the potential. This guy has if he is healthy going season to answer the question the biggest thing that you worry about jalen her. Just think about what jalen her does. This help Obviously on my platform We have a a a good amount of reach. And i would say that the the player that i am asked and d- comment whatever about the most is jalen hurt. It's not even close. Everyone wants to know the update on jalen hurd. Is he back. Is he healthy houses back houses. Acl that's like it. You guys wouldn't believe like how much influx and how many niner fans are so invested on seeing him be successful but you said a. He hasn't taken a snap in the nfl. He's taken preseason snaps but that is a much different animal than the actual. Nfl itself and with jalen. Hurd you know you indicated a size six five two hundred thirty pounds. That played running back at tennessee before transferring to baylor to play wide receiver. He has the kind of that. Madden build your own player kind of tool like that kind of like you dream of a wide receiver. You kind of put together jalen hurt. And then that's kind of like from a physical standpoint but the biggest thing which alien heard obviously is health. But like leo said if if jalen hurts healthy and he comes out. He's he's shown the promise he shown the ability. Obviously in the in the preseason games you just want to see him come out and do it In going into twenty twenty when deebo samuel was her. I don't know if you guys recall. He had broken the in his foot during preseason workouts and was going to miss first couple of weeks of the season i i pegged jalen hurd as the breakout. My breakout candidate for twenty twenty. And he hadn't even taken a snap. I just it's again the thought process of seeing him in that kind of deebo samuel brand new role running around doing all the different kinds of things that these guys do that make them almost position lewis and jalen hurd felt like you would slot in really well. Now you know again. We didn't see him in two thousand twenty. And when you have two years of a rookie you know former third round pick. That hasn't can't even stay healthy. You just don't know what to expect. So i would say you know if i'm talking to my fans and i'm talking to the people that i interact with on a daily basis. Just don't try to expect too much. Because if he's healthy that's great. He's still technically kind of a rookie in regards to experience. He doesn't have those live bullets. Those live reps and again being injured two years in a row. You just don't know what to expect is he. Does he look like that. Same guy we saw against the cowboys in preseason. He might look so the the dreams that we have and what we saw danced to this day in our minds fans minds. And that's what we wanna see. It's just what what will we get. What jalen hurd in two thousand twenty one and the question is at least from my standpoint. i don't know. I don't know if jalen herds able to be out there. This season He he should be ready for training. Camp that's what pow shanahan said. Even jimmy garoppolo is saying that he can't wait to have jalen hurd out there because what. He does as an out route runner as well as what he does with the ball in his hands after the catch jalen hurts able to be out there. He's a walking five hundred yards all purpose. Take that to the bank easy as bet you could ever make because this guy take the around..
Alabama football opens crucial spring practices
"Let's talk about your favorite subject. Bama returns to the practice field dispute seemed like forever. It's only been since the early part of january. So give us the lowdown. What does it look like in town right now. Paul there's a buzz of excitement of alabama. Get back into the swing. Plaque is finishing off the off season. Fourth quarter program a position battles at that. We're looking forward to the main. One is definitely a quarterback. You got three is to help a lot of panic. Rice song the fan favorites. Who could possibly get this job at quarterback with impulsive is right there. A young man go has a lot to prove. Not show coming into this The spring practice practice schedule. No he's got the five six five two hundred thirty pounds. Plus a big arm is historically of experience on the roster the behind those got shaving meal a four star coming in from texas has got some ability. Who had a good off season program self so three quarterback fighting four for number one job. Nick sabin always likes to say which one to win the team which one could take the bull by the horns and have that consistency in terms of production so the quarterback balance. We'll be fine on the offensive line. Three down the nfl draft and out of the woods lead dickerson and beyond as wound. But you return. Three guys. And chris always a meal. Et your kneel for who plays and the offer to spot. It'd be a battle next doll and right tackle. Tommy brown and kindle randolph will. Start off in those spot. Tommy brown guard kindle randolph. Right tackle ten whole those two spot especially with the talents of freshman coming in of the broccoli. Lamar boys tommy. James block them out a jc. Later florida larkana their offense of lying and then of course start to defensive tackle. Dj that's really cool. But you gotta tm smith coming up as a softball florida. He played some big production a series to go on the field. He had a twenty dollars season programs. In tm smith you know offset no dj on the starting spot there at the nose dr but of course middle linebacker defensive secondary as well. I'm gonna position battles paul to sort through here but what better time to sort. The hoover dam been splitting

"Owns a nascar team and the florida. Marlins for awhile and then really moved into the big big big leagues where you talk about the big money Teams like the the american league east and the american league or the national league west. Which is he bought the boston. Red sox if rewind back to the the story moneyball which many folks may be familiar with at least sports fans are which is the application of statistics to understand like how to value a player based on a set of metrics that old school baseball and scouting really ignored right and and this was a line of reasoning and an analytical approach that was developed by a guy named bill. james who. Yo- is the quintessential story of value right at bill. James develop the system by studying statistics and studying that which are the statistics that are more likely to result in someone to the ink to increase the or the value of a player and then use that metric to say who is under an overpriced in the in the market for for players based on these particular skills which were completely ignored by professional baseball and their scouting organizations. Tell me jose can saco in arc mcguire six five two hundred thirty pounds. That's not necessarily. What makes a good as it right because everyone thought you know those guys at the kings of the long ball right guys matter though alex. Because you're all about getting on base getting on base extended beginning extending the inning and putting people on bass beats two more runs. Which is the goal of baseball game. Get more runs than the other guy. It's not about hitting home runs and and running for forties and having a gun that you can throw from from from right field to third base With without a cutoff man. You know these are all great skills but at the end of the day. It's all about scoring more points than the other guy and in order to do that. You need to get on base of people who walk you know. People who draw walks people with a good ifa pitches that is the skill set. Which is your not what bake slugger hitters are known for right. They either connect with the ball or they strike out I would go further. Alex say that it wasn't even being assessed. It was right. They have been on their radar for for how they assist. Players essentially talent value right It was it was literally those old school metrics height weight and probably speed obviously A good bat swinging. What is that even mean right. I need Some people's dislike pitching. Somebody will have this weird sidearm and it works for some guys do it anyway right. But but in traditional parlance they would be considered a freak right in her. Yeah so it's the holy trinity. It's not actually at trinity. It's the holy five. Can you run. Can you hit the gym. You throw you steal but it has nothing to do with things. Such as you're taking a walk doesn't really help your batting statistics but what it does is get a man on base which means that you have someone who can potentially score. Stealing is considered.

"Sorry zion williamson and luca dodge any of those guys. None of those guys the impact that they have the nba the global impact that they have on the nba. The young guys young as a democrat. Both gonna make a fucking. That is not gonna make a fort in the wind type of sound compared to what the young quarterbacks are going to be doing to king the strength of the nfl. Keep it the number one sport in north america in this country. Because you've got the diversity of the young quarterback. Their skill sets the style of play. I don't know if we've ever had a diverse set of quarterbacks playing this whole notion gotta be six five two hundred thirty pounds have a rocket for an arm. And all those type of things the prototype where you had to find yourselves their next of the convention. Cornerback being a peyton manning type or something like that man. That's out the window now. The way the nfl is being played now. The rules the way the nfl is right now. You don't have to have that type of quarterback to win the super bowl. The beat elite. You'll even have to be the best quarterback in the game and have those type of features. It would be nice depending upon the type of team that you wanna put around them but there's more ways than championships at the quarterback position than being a peyton manning or being. Tom brady clone or being a tour. Aikman clone or be a classic dropback passer clone. And you could still with those. But you've got tyler murray you've got to you. Cut joe burrow. you've got justin herbert. You've got josh allen you've got lamar jackson. You got to shawn watson you got jerry. Gall got patrick mahomes. You can win championships. You can win. Super bowls with those types of quarterbacks joe burrow is more of your classic drew brees classic. Drop back quarterback type of guy. But you take a look at someone. Like a kevin murray who blends in athleticism who blends them. You know being a really athletic athletic guy without being what what with using the tools of a traditional quarterback saying with the shawn watson time will tell on such guys a sam darnold baker mayfield and daniel andrew lock 'em the if the resurrection of carson wentz can happen or we don't know what type of quarterback debt prescott is going to be coming off of this injury but uh all of those guys. i think. Have the potential to be really really good. Quarterbacks manfred y'all want to rip and laugh and joke about sam darnold remember who. The coach of that team is also remember ryan. Tannehill was also a guy who was being coached up by adam gays. When he was with the jets he goes to the tennessee. Titans look how he's playing. Maybe sometimes is more than just a quarterback to bust. Maybe it also situates into the into the mix of what type of coach coaching him. And this is sam darnold. This is his third year in the league. This guy to seven or eight years a one guy. We can get a better read on him as a quarterback sending of baker mayfield who's gone through multiple coaches in offensive coordinator's daniel jones is only in the second run as the starter for the giants in the second year. And he's on. His second coach drew lock with denver broncos being having been under the tutelage of John elway you know now in his second year. So i'm not ready to give up on these young young quarterbacks that and then you have on the horizon. You'll have guys like justin fields trevor lords. These guys who are hybrid type quarterbacks trevor had classic rock back passer type qualities along with dual threat athleticism. Same thing with justin fields. Not look. there's been over the last three or four or five years. They've been quarterbacks drafted in the first round who have been bus underwhelming underperforming. You take a little mitchell. Trubisky josh rosen. Jameis winston marcus mariota dwayne haskins. So yeah there's been somewhere hadn't panned out but man you just take a look at just the you got the classic dropback patches like herbert and burrow in golf mayfield. You have the uber athletic off. Quarterbacks like lamar kevin murray and you have a hybrid of both in the sean and drew lock in to other fields in whence in prescott lawrence and then you have someone who. We've never seen before as far as talent is concerned that the quarterback position with his arm and patrick mahomes. Who breaks all the molds of what a guy like that a guy who's what twenty four twenty five somewhere there and the way quarterbacks are being protected and the way now we have a situation where you know you have new methods and you have a new dedication for these guy to wear guess. What at age thirty four thirty five thirty six. I don't have to say this is near the end of my career. I still in my prime. I mean you had russell wilson talking about. He wants to play football two. He forty five years old. You have russell wilson talking about you know what. I take two days off in terms term the my preparation in terms i Getting ready to play football. I take thanksgiving and christmas all other than that. I'm doing something to improve myself of as a football player both in terms of play the position and mentally and physically keeping myself in shape man spends a million dollars a year. He says in terms of what he needs to do to keep himself playing at a high level chefs massage therapists trainers coaches individual type of deals. That keeps him going. In the way. These the way these Salaries keep going up. I mean why can't someone like patrick. Mahomes play until he's forty two years old. Why kennedy shawn watson play until he's like thirty nine years old. I'm a little worried about Lamar jackson you know. I've kind of considered him sooner. Like a russell. Westbrook in terms of what type of quarterback is he to be when hoover lettuces them whether it be a thirty one thirty two or whatever. What's going to happen. As far as lamar jackson as a quarterback. What is he going to be when the athleticism starts to wane or what's going to be happening. God forbid if he tears the nathan l. or he gets injury or something happens like a deck prescott. Were it might affect his unreal athleticism rental think we maybe michael vick to dealing comparable. Maybe a little bit. Furger be a backed in that maybe are randall cunningham. But think of like the quarterbacks in this league in the history of the league who had been at the same level of athleticism for their game. Michael like Lamar jackson least comparing to the game. That they play at present. Times me. Randall cunningham you know compared to the compared to the the play when he was playing was the most athletic might have been willing. The most athletic football players ever to play the quarterback position then the next generation you have someone like michael vick and then this generation you have someone like lamar jackson. What's gonna happen to moammar. God forbid if something happens to which affects his athleticism. Does he have the ability to be more of a shawn watson. More of a that type of quarterback to where he can't progress as a pocket passer. We will see we will.

"What's going through your mind when you defense is retreating My turn always tell me when a defense a bagging up day at your like. That's when you got them right That's when you got him. So when they bagging up on me. I just watched her feet like most defenders when they bagging up. They don't want me to get to the room so they want me shoot so i have to shoot the ball sometimes and them know that i can't shoot right and i'm not afraid to shoot the ball. So sometimes they come up. They come up. That's when not getting my in a lot of people go from in and out a lot. Because i think sell it a lot but joy at a time when i get down. Here's more my body. Because i'm always defended as artemis sodas most of the time you and you you mentioned it here. Like they're they're expecting you to get downhill right so you have. The little guard watched shows backs up. And now the in and out. I can i can tell they watch film on that but yes i did. And he took his first. I'm like i'm not scared. Shoot you're reading that every time someone's garden i'm always reading here. First of all you getting to sit down with these guys is so cool. There's gonna be such a good show tonight. And i love that line forum. Sometimes you shoot. Sometimes you got to let them know. Why are scouts so excited about anthony edwards potential. He's the most effortless score in the draft. I was out in maui when we sat down for that film session and i saw first hand. Thirty seven points against michigan state. He looked like an nba. All star you know making threes off. The dribble step backs in his ability to get to his spots reminds me a little bit of james harden now not as accomplish of a player is james but six five two hundred thirty pounds. Six ten wingspan can get downhill and then can stop on a dime as well. So he's going to be a bona fide score from the day he steps in the nba now needs to prove himself as a winner as a defender as a decision maker but scored the ball. He's one of one draft by the case slip in. And you know when we were in. Maui be nice. What about the dwayne wade comparisons. Because we've seen him in doing go back and forth on twitter right. Dwayne said hey. I think he might even be better than me. I think that's a lot to put on him. You know he. He wasn't quite the the winner. The competitor that dwayne was dwayne obviously a hall of fame player. So i think that's a lot to put on a kid like anthony edwards. But i hope for him he can reach that level because the talent is certainly there. I mean there's sunny. There's some current players who get a little bit annoyed if a guy who frankly hasn't done anything yet in the league because of course he couldn't he has drafted sir. This comparison start to bubble up. I like doing going all the way. The other way like absolutely. He's going to be so good better than me. Okay kid let's see ago to I wanted to run through some nba draft superlatives. So i.

"I gotta ask you about the quarterbacks. I'll be honest. I was not a Daniel Johns fan this year. No, he came in with some attention being paid, Pat. A couple of good games. I had a couple of mediocre games. But people like is apple. People are suggesting he could be a day one day two draftable quarterback. I the games. I watched him play. He didn't. Wow me. And I thought he was a little overrated had a good game today and looked good. How much did he do for his aspirations? How high do you think you can go in a draft? I you know, I think he has a chance to be among the first to quarterbacks selected this year at the same time. I'm with you. I I was I was a little bit lukewarm on him. And nothing I saw this week in practice or the game itself he was named MVP. But you know, frankly, I questioned the decision makers on that vote because while he threw for a touchdown ran for another in certainly looks and sounds apart six five two hundred thirty pounds was coached by the great David cut class at Duke, and that's the same coach who who helped mold ally N Peyton Manning. So all kinds of things there to believe that he's he has all the potential that you want at the same time. I don't see the big arms. I thought that drew lock from Missouri within my top rated senior quarterback all year long show, the he has a much wider arm than Daniel Jones has and so I look at Daniel Jones is a quarterback who who is going to go in the first round in my opinion. But I think that's more of a reflection of the fact that the NFL teams are just so desperate for quarterbacks. I mean, we saw five quarterbacks go in the first round a year ago. I would argue that Daniel Jones and in Ohio states Dwayne Haskins. Who was my personal top rated quarterback. He's only a junior. So he was not eligible for this game. I would argue that those two quarterbacks would be would fall behind the top three from last year. Baker Mayfield Sam darnold. Josh rosen. I would take any one of those three, and I believe most NFL teams would as well over any of the top quarterbacks this year, including Daniel Jones from Duke. So I like talent I think that he is better in west traditional west coast offense. He reminds me a little bit of a of a match Shabaab or a Nick foles and that he's. A distributor the football. He he's smart is clean beautiful release. He just doesn't have the big arm that you might expect. Given the fact that he does measuring six five two hundred thirty pounds and does have that athletic ability that teams are so intrigued by in today's RPO offense with base NFL. All right. Let me ask about a couple of wide receivers was specifically. Zeroing in prior to to gain both of them on the south hunter Renfro and deebo Samuel Renfro had a bunch of catches didn't get a TD today. Samuel had just one. But I heard that he looked good during the week in practice there. Two guys who I don't take a first round wide receiver draft potential, but could be steals after the first round. How did those two guys look for you? Terrific football players. I mean just about as per as proven and productive as you possibly can get. I mean when you mentioned earlier about the idea of players who have performed well throughout the week. But maybe didn't have the big games deebo Samuel. It was just terrific. I mean, six foot two hundred and ten pounds. He's he's almost like a running back. I kind of a golden Tate kind of a frame, and because of that I think that he's just perfectly suited to today's NFL. There's so many of these little short quick routes or he can make somebody mess. And then tickets to the house is a dynamic return men as well didn't have much maybe a catch maybe two today, but wasn't very dynamic in terms of the game itself. But I believe that he may very well wind up being the first receiver selected from the senior bowl this year. And I certainly expect he's going to be successful in the NFL. I kinda joking. They referred to UMass is Andy Isabella's if New England Patriots slot receiver hunter Renfro all he's got. He's got Brady written all over me. Exactly. I mean, and and and his. The fact that he has been so productive in so many big games over his career, including this in the senior bowl. Everybody knows that the that the production. They had it Clemson especially against Alabama. And some of those big play off games the senior bowl as well. I mean, he he made some big catches in this game. He showed some toughness. He showed great ability to track the football. There was one kind of air. It throw that that he showed an ability to make adjustments almost made a terrific catch. And it just it's not necessarily what you anticipate when you think of a wide receiver who is more than that five nine hundred eighty pounds. Usually if the six two six three guys can go up in fight for the ball. But hunter Renfro is a terrific player. I mean that look the part looks more like an accountant no player, but at the same time he is a terrific want. Some guys are just instinctive and catch the ball. Well hunter Renfro is about as good as it gets. I think the day three. But I think there's you said he's gonna wind up out playing his his draft position loved the kid now when he becomes next Julian, and I'm gonna hate when he puts on that patriot uniform, Rob Howley. Long 'til head off. Indianapolis, we've got about a month ago to Indianapolis, which is always a fascinating time. But you know, at this point, I'm just gonna kinda keep watching the tape and try to try to focus it on. "This is San Francisco forty Niners football on KNB are six eighty so back to play in Tampa Bay Dotson off the field. I down box at the San Francisco forty nine Tampa Bay leading seventy six under center which to play action rolling, right? Sheldon day chasing, which gets away. Throws it on the road. And it gets a short day with has he hits Evans sliding the turf at the forty two given such a big target. It'd make six five two hundred thirty pounds valley as yards already in the first half today that gives them a thousand yards receiving this year. He started each of us. I fine. Yeah. And I think there's only three guys ever to do it in the history of I five. Seasons thousand yard season. Perc. The second out at three at the San Francisco. Forty two a hand off to Rogers run straight ahead shelter day was Sheldon day hit Jack was Rogers. But Jack was Rogers. He's a strong guy for swollen. That's why he's lasted eight years in the league plays a bowling ball. Yeah. He drove. And he got a first down to the thirty nine Chelsea gray hit him. Well, sort of the live together. Not only did he hit a Jack Rogers ran a dairy farm said was still able to get push leverage typically wins in that dude is built low to the ground. Sob last song played for the falcons is good with the bucks. A couple of years now after a good career at Oregon state for the thirty nine now I down which the play action dropping deep standing in the box logo steps up in the pockets gonna run middle to thirty five down to the thirty to the twenty five and he finally goes down in front of Fred Warner Winston running that we're getting it to the twenty four San Francisco. Jameis Winston will take off and has the ability to run, and that's part of be number one overall pick. Good coverage down the field. They keep a lot of guys into protect and they just spread the field out in terms of the spacing. And once he gets out in the open field. That's an easy pickup. Terms of the big game for him. So Tampa Bay which has been very good on third down in this first half used that big third down completion Davidge to set them up. Now Winston is rushed any shovels appall ahead. Incomplete to Rogers. That was Martin is in the game a lot with Eric Armstead barreled in right into Winston's face though, whipsawed saw coming. The flipped the ball. I had at the feet of Rogers complete. Boy that that pressure was on him in a heartbeat. Is pretty pretty Bo bile in terms of being able to kinda slither his way out of that just had a beeline on him and just an upper body shake was able to free him up. So he could just get rid of the ball forty Niners. Great Paul finish get the sack. Second attached shotgun snap. Winston hands off to Rogers. And Rogers trying to go left not much there. Forty Niners string it. Well quasi tarts here. They're on run support. So's balcony Smith. And it's short gain. Rodgers will get at most two. Wants to get out. But it's been a problem for the forty Niners. Tampa Bay's four of seven on thirds of this first avenue at least two long. Yeah. And third down again as I said earlier, it was not great at the beginning of the year. But it's been pretty solid most of the year when you look at the number thirty eight shotgun snap coming to Winston projects. It here comes big pressure which the throws it to the middle complaint. He's trying to head Evans off the left side. The leap was by. Fred Warner at the ten yard line the ball just too high just went off his fingertips and the completion will force Tampa Bay debris field. Antone Exum comes on the pressure unblocked forces that ball out. And then he tries to force it into Mike Gibbons Fred jumps up high hits them on the hands would love to see him come down with that interception. Had heat on. It was on his fingertips. Missed opportunity so Cairo Santos will try his first field goals a buck. It's his second week chicken for them. And he's with the Rams for a couple of games as a fill in early. This year. Ball down kick from the left ashes odd the way, it is good. By Santos at three good years of Kansas City. But he's now bounced the last to Kansas City. The former Kansas City kicker now makes it ten to six bucks here with three twenty one to go there. The first half. The. Toyota scoring drive Tampa Bay. They're fifty three yards twelve place. Let's go places. Tampa Bay has had a big edge. And as I happen time of possession and plays Tampa Bay's at thirty three plays the forty Niners only twenty. Look at around. On monday. I was in New York. I pick up the New York Post tablet on the back page. What the story is New York. Giants ready for a miracle playoff run. You can't make this up. You're only as good as your last performance in this league. Especially in New York. Well, they beat Tampa Bay last week. Second quarter today in Philadelphia New York eighteen Philadelphia three. There you go. The Newark Wednesday, two games out of first division leaders. Loyd is wide open scoreboard update. Sponsored by t mobile. Check out the new for metro by t mobile. That's genius. You consider the fact that Washington point with now four Alex Smith. Check out the back of the end zone for a touchback for Tampa Bay. So could even watch Alex Smith injury said nothing, but the best everybody here knows, Alex. Our soft dude man, and that's up eight comeback from I've already heard about his age. He'd probably done. No, no, don't they? Very he's done real athletic guy, thirty he'd be thirty six next year, plus a Carolinas up ten three of the second quarter of her Seattle. Cleveland twenty one nothing at Cincinnati in the second quarter. Dinner. Greg Williams, not talking about what a great coaches had no kidding time. For Kendrick born to get involved at first half of the twenty five shotgun snap at a give. At grade is going to be hip for a loss. That is a young man. With a great story for time. We called his name today. Vita via was their first round. Pick out of Washington grew up in East Palo Alto. As a low down three hundred forty seven pounds and has movement skills is why was such a high tech feet of Ahah about second grade through eighth grade was tutored on Stanford's campus by programs to Palo Alto Tennyson tutoring. That's phenomenal. Incredible work tape gawky runs. That program will be debate ended up being the first player in his family to ever go to college. I went to Washington becomes a first round pick here in Tampa Bay. Shotgun snap the mullets now on a long second throw to the middle at it's not helped by kiddle. Channel could not hold on a thirty two. Good coverage draped over his back with another one of the Tampa Bay rookies. That's George Whitehead fourth rancher at it. This is great play. By Whitehead kindle, had eight is pulled his arms apart, George look like he had it in his hands in at the last second. You saw white had reached it for the ball. Just ripped the arm and broke the vice the ball hit the ground. That's where that I add up. Like the is. Now, you put again, volunteer this bad spot. Seconded log now third at fourteen. Shotgun us check to his right. Why discourage the twenty one takes the snap? Four. Rush. Flag is down middle throws caught by kettle and ripped away. Let's see it. That's an interception. Nightside fight for the ball on the turf at that may be an interception for Tampa Bay Whitehead again. Not sure what the call is going to be. There was also a flag down at the snap. And it's got to be offsite. Tampa Bay so doesn't matter. It's going to be an offside on the defense. Channel was tackled at the thirty one that four yards short of the line to game. So I. Bloomfield is a completed catch offside defense number ninety four five yard penalty replay third does. So the ruling on the field is dope. Does not bad. It's it's offside and Kittles tackle was short of a first ads of the forty Niners will take the penalty to get third down again. Give it a little better chance by George because he had a white had appeared to rip it away from George ripped it back. So it'll be third down again for the forty Niners. Third down at nine now from their own twenty six forty Niners hope for three of this first at they have really struggled as a t this year. A long third dot type it very good in the middle distance third down. What are the better teams believe? Well now when it gets the third long it becomes about matchups and less about scheme. Volatility got flank both sides by us check and Kittle five common has hit as he throws. A channel can't make the catch. That's broken up. Nicely. Flag is going to come in late. Really Andrew Adam safety that cable over the left shoulder of Kittle to break up the pass. Done it too aggressively. Now, George definitely start after rare. Number twenty six. Guy here deserve call because he turned around and complain. And he was complaining, and I'm not so sure that the defender ever had material contacted terms attorney kiddle with that right hand around his ways, you could do that. If you're Andrew added, you just you can place it. They're just cannot have the material effect by rip it out. It was real close. Whether he did or didn't but turned to the sideline and that comes out like five seconds after I got thrown tip. I gotta say we talked to the game show about that. And again now that's a rule change that should happen. That's really not fair to defense the call that pass interference. Hey, it helps the forty Niners. But that's to me. That's a really dicey. Call. Absolutely. But that's the power of guys that are great or getting to that level that they get those calls. So I doubt forty Niners at their thirty one volunteer centre they start to sue their used Jack started to quickly shifted back into it. I moved to sue false start offense number forty four. Five yard penalty. I bell. And that will. Reset the game blocked to once. So they'll be one more snap here before the two minute warning the forty Niners. Remember have only one time out remaining so had to burn significant early get this play again. And what they don't want to do is give his ball back to Tampa with time left on the and three time out which Tampa has the forty Niners. Do get the ball. First in the third quarter ten to six Tampa Bay the lead Mullins under centered. Alec. I fifteen sickle back has Brita. Also, play actually debris to stamp act. Stand back and be sacked. Nowhere to go. And Jason Pierre. Paul swallowed them. That will get us to the two minute warning. And that does change things adequately. Now the scenario you talked about him. Potentially this fall back Tampa Bay with timeouts the first two minute warning at one fifty five in the clock. Brought to you by xfinity xfinity delivers the fastest internet at San Francisco. "Just be positive as far as getting the ball. And I think this started long before the game, I believe in Philadelphia got on the bus. They got on the bus with the type of grit that got them into a championship. We'll Chris, what makes you. Draw that conclusion. It started with me with lane Johnson before the game working out with the head coach, Doug Peterson, the chain staff. They're testing that ankle. He's got a high ankle sprain for wide receiver and for an offense of lime, especially a tackle because he setting and that ankle is hinging back. That's one of the worst injuries you can have for that position. So seeing him and they kind of embraced after the workout. Now he didn't look great. He was limping through the ankle was heavily tape. He got knocked out of the game earlier, but I believe it sent an overall message as far as we are team that's going to defend the Super Bowl championship. It starts with our big people, and you could see through him playing in the game. Jason Peters left tackle, gets knocked out of the game with the bicep. So I believe that effort of lane Johnson and the overall grit that champions half it played out in this game and they actually were able to execute what they were doing. Score points create turnovers, give offense multiple, and that's what I saw the world champs doing on Thursday night football. It felt like for the first time all year, the world champs were back to being anything like they were last year. How did they become world champs last year, an excellent offense of line. Well, Carson Wentz was only sacked once last night and outstanding pass, rushing defensive line. They either sacked or hit ally manning eighteen times last night. And one of the best third-down teams we have seen in modern fell history last night on third down. Carson Wentz a tidy thirteen of fourteen o one fifty, six rating two touchdowns twelve yards for pass like I ten in a row turned in a row, absolutely. Right. And which was a nice juxtaposition to the giants just total to Bockel of a couple of weeks on third down which will get to later. But they, I mean they looked like the way that the way they played when they won the super when they got to Super Bowl, you said before the show see how about getting back to the RPO's. Oh yeah. How about if it worked for Nick foles? Maybe it's going to work for six, five stud franchise. Quarterback? Yes, absolutely. That's exactly what they got back to how Sean Jefferies making contested place running different variations of the RPO's sometime motioning man where he can run a stick route other times leaving him out. Why? Where he ran a slant route. But those were the things that we saw, especially in the NFC championship with Nick foles in this offense, Doug Peterson goes back to it. Nelson Aguilar, making a couple huge catches their to build a keep drives going to one play where went Scott, hit, wins, gets hits, hit on the arm, the ball still travel sixteen yards past line of scrimmage, and it looked like Landon councils waiting for it. And that could be a huge play because early in the game, the giants were moving, the bowl, they had to settle for field goals. They looked like they might be able to overcome allies turnover and fumble. And that could have been a swing play the game. I thought it was going to be Joe, but called it like he was into a BIC. And what else do he converted? He cuts in front of the safety, prevent turnover, keeps the offense going. And also, you know, guys, like Jordan Mathews coming in getting to critical third down conversions. We saw the quarterback being supported by very good play calling in other guys making plays. We knew they were struggling running back, but their injuries, but they still got these guys, the football. So the offense of line could roll off on that giants. D for the game, we talked about whether the weather would slow down the pace or slow down there offense or just sort of shorten it a little bit. It didn't look like the eagles were affected by that at all. That's the reason why you have someone like Carson Wentz. You got a guys six, five, two hundred thirty pounds..
