"Seven people. We're all pretty familiar with what happened that day. But what i find hard to remember is how felt time the mood. How do you remember. It is very hard for me to actually put into words. The feeling of that day typically is. I was financial the guardian based in london a time. Shell shock almost the site fading paralysis at a time when you had to walk out than any time in your entire life and we all went into hyper drive. And it wasn't just the events of that day the events that day led then into a complete global chain it led to the wars in afghanistan and lead to the wars in iraq and it just lead to anonymous maceo of human tragedy. Everything changed in that moment. It's amazing that we all feel some stake in an event like this one that televised globally. It we all feel that we lived through in some way but for number of families in the us. The significance and impact of the event was much more personal. And you've been speaking to some of those people. I wonder if you could stop by telling me about mike. And dan friedman who are they. What do they remember of that day. Martin dan Twins and. I actually got to meet them this summer. At a mets bowl game where several of the children of nine eleven in other words people who lost a parent on that day were brought together by charity called. Choose as children and like anyone else who's ever met them. I was astonished by how told they are. Mike is six foot eleven inches and dan six foot nine inches and actually well before nine eleven. They had been given a nickname. They'd gone to this event with the superstar basketball player magic johnson through their mother and they actually got to meet him and they got to ask for an autograph and magic. Johnson looked to the two twins dying before him rising even at a young age way up and he wrote on the picture to the twin towers. Lock magic kidding. You're kidding that's the nickname. I'm not kidding. And as a result the nickname stock and from then on they were then called. The twin towers wall behaved. We really committed ourselves academics. Maybe a little more so than mike. But as he's looking at me like that my key agree with that. I don't agree with that. At all. I will say is that it was normal household normal way of life and it was that way until unfortunately september eleventh so when i asked the brothers to describe the events of that fateful day. They told me back to the night before their father was a huge sports fan. We very much remember him getting angry television. Because the new york losing the denver broncos and we remember he would sit at the couch with his big bottle of coca cola and his chicken wings and scream at the television but that was him and that was one of perfect lost memories. I have of him. And then the next day the off they went to school and on that morning the principal came into that two separate classrooms and usher them out and said that he wanted them to know that a plane had crashed into one of the twin towers where that father was working but he was going to be okay that he had plenty of. Aaron is all to be okay. That's what they were told. When did they lynn. Otherwise the adults in their lives in the fest censor instinct was to shield them for many information so they are taken out of school. A went to neighbor's house who had a swimming pool. They m- having a great time. That had a barbecue that night. Now conduct being spoiled and they didn't know why but they just kind of enjoyed. It was not until the following day that that mother took them aside and then our mom and this was the toughest part when she's satisfied down and she basically said to us guys. I don't think your dad's coming back to you. Know how many kids. They were like. Mike and dan who lost parents in the attacks yes figure of three thousand and fifty one children has been put to this the children who lost a parent to which i had a couple of things one the most of them lost a father. Because it's one of the facts of nine eleven seven out of the eight of the almost three thousand victims of that day were male and i think that figure three thousand fifty one. It speaks to the booming tragedy of nine eleven which went so so much father than the individuals who lost their lives it touched on so many thousands of other people in this instance the children and it touched another group. You've been looking at and the relationship to the attacks is in some ways more complex. Who are they yeah. A sub group of a three thousand or so children lost apparent with a so called babies of nine eleven. And these were kids. Who had not actually been born on the day they were still in the womb and there were one hundred and five of these kids who are born after nine eleven having lost their father on that day which again i find it very stitching figure. I spoke to one of those hundred five. A young woman who by definition is coming up to twentieth birthday. She was born on november third seven weeks after nine. Eleven cold robin higley who comes from connecticut. And she's named after and father robert higley who everyone calls robbie. Though her mum vicky calls him rob. My dad was her best friend. They met at a party one night. They sent love letters. They were each other. Other half's roby higley was working in the south tower of the world trade center the ninety second floor so at eight forty six when the north tower was the first to be hit roy called his wife vicky so that morning i was working and he called me and he said happened in the other building. And we're fine. It was an agonizingly short conversation. When i look back at it now obviously and that was the last conversation. The head yes. That was the last time they spoke. Vicky later learned through other people who'd been on the ninety second floor with him that it lost his life because he'd been trying to help us on that morning he'd been made the acting day manager of his office he worked as an insurance executive and he had offered twelve of his colleagues into an elevator. Robbie decided not to get into the elevator. He put his colleagues in it and then he decided to go back out and do a final sweep of the ninety second floor to make sure everyone was getting out and from what one of the women told us who was on that elevator. She said she wishes she had pulled him in and made him come with them because they were the last elevator to get out in that time he did that. Sweep this outta collapsed. Having been struck at nine. Oh three by united airlines flight. One seven five on my orders. The united states military has begun strikes.

"And then yes he says. I knew i i was too far gone so i couldn't blocked the ball. I couldn't go at the baugh. So i just jumped to put my hand in front of the rim. I mean that's a lot of thinking going on this list. Second so he does. His intelligence is on display his agility and athleticism and length is on its way because most guys in the league. They can't get to that spot. They can't go from stopping the driver to protecting the rim in one motion like john is did and then his strength remember. Loot eight is going up with two hands. Yom is this going up with one. And he stops eight from dunkin the ball with the one hand a lot of times guy might have enough strength to still dunk it over with if jaanus had just been able to commit a foul. That would have been a good play like it'd be faouzi. Mini doesn't make the basket because eight hundred sixty nine percents free throw shooter in these playoffs. That would have been a good play. They were up to but for him to be able to block. It may tremendous. And i just love it i think is shows allow the is there they score forty points the first two games or the last two games and people are talking about. Can they do it again. Like michael jordan. He wasn't having that type a night but he wasn't all his feelings. He wasn't focused on that end of the floor. He was focused on whatever it took to win the game and that block was incredible. So i'll give it a nine crews. I gave it a ten for all the reasons that you mentioned. Because he was able to play the pick and roll. He was able to stop imports devon booker to pick up his dribble. Throw the law. In all in one motion he drops turns and faces and blah's deondraye eight deandra eight nine seven foot tall. He the least a foot over the basket and so in one motion. I shut off the pa- shut up the pig. The roller because if he's not there if a yacht as does not show boogers just going to get all the way to the real or he'd shoot that little tim footer but because he sees jaanus eighty nine. This was supposed to be the aim. There's no possible way he can get back and defend this this loud duck. I got bored. He throws it in janas drops dip in goals. And i gotta go right now. Any blondes. i believe the only other guy that possibly could have made that play. If anthony davis because eve extremely long he did a great job plan to pick and roll and either great rim-protector but yokich is not making that play. Joel embiid is not making that play. None of the other big are making that. Play other well until i see. I'm sure there's a put if we were to go back through the archives and look at all eight games. But i know you can make 'cause i just saw it with my own. Two eyes and i was upset chris because they went replay it. I like he founded. He had to father. There's no way you're blocking a lump don't without filing any so i gave him a ten and you can't convince me otherwise bela's guys who news me. I'm highly entertained by both of you overreacting to what we saw last night. And i just one. Quick question for my man chris broussard. Do you have some greek back in your heritage. I'm not aware of. Because i don't know you become your biggest fan. I don't know maybe. I don't play okay. I'm gonna give this on a scale of one to ten o'clock. I'm going to give it a four. I was going to give it a three but just because it was so timely you can argue so clutch that it did quote unquote save the game at least for a moment who knows what would happen the rest of the game way. It was going. But i'll go up to a four because on. Just pure execution predictable. It's obvious it's adult. It's for us a very easy block to pull off because of the way the play unfolded. So he's showing a little bit on devon booker but he's not going to be able to block book shot a book just said i got this. I'm going to go off a strong. I'm gonna shoot a nine foot jump. Shot your honest not going to get there to block it. But he showed a little bit but then to his credit. He's just watching. Books is and the other one looks across the lane and locks eyes with deandra eytan obviously janas man and completely telegraphs golob and not only does he telegraph it because he's no. Cpi three but he throws a poor lob way too far in way too high for de'andre ayton who then has to been backward to catch. It loses all his momentum and all of his leverage. So he's again. He's leaning backward when he catches the ball at its apex when he high points it and it gives yanni janas plenty of time to catch up and explode running with the running. Start up into the basketball and meet him at the apex. All the leverage all the momentum belongs to janas at that point because he's got basketball in his side's and he times it perfectly. We're he's arriving. Just as eight is getting both hands on the basketball bending backward. What do you think's going to happen. It's going to be as easy a-block as janas ever had because eight is dead to right. There's nowhere to go with the basketball. Except right into janas says right hand. If he'd had the wherewithal he'd have the perspective maybe eight and would have given up on the lob dunk and maybe he would've just said whoops. I gotta spin out of this and go back to the floor. Because janas would've just run right past him and then he could have gone back up and dunked it but that's a lot to ask of a still very young deondraye eytan so i'm not going there but the point was it was a great hustle players. Yana said after the game it was just a house play. Once he saw the telegraph lob pass he just turns and he bolts across the lane and all the advantage belongs dion us. He's got a running start. He's as explosive a six foot eleven inch sleepers. We have in the league. So it's a really easy block for him because he can outjump deondraye aiden who stuck with an awkward lob pass and he did what he should have done what he predictably did do he blocked it saying. That's the greatest blocked ever symmetric scale. How many guys you believe can go meet. Another guy at the top at the top here did that but but for him. That's an easy blocked to me. But that's that's my thing hidden the whitman he has he was blessed with. Yeah that's an easy block. But here's the thanksgiving. He has to force devon booker to pick up his dribble and not to take the jumper so he has to show enough so both feels that he's got a challenge meal the jump shot and i can't get to the real so he has to do that in an all in one motion win book throws the love. He has to drop stale in turn immediately. He's just going to a point. He might not be there but he has to go to that point and meeting he by cody andrea with to the pit house. But little did he know that has appeared house top of his house if.

Eleven inch leaper as we have in the league so it's a really easy block for him because he can out jump de'andre aiden who stuck with an awkward lob pass and did what he should have done what he predictably did do. He blocked it in the world. You're saying that's the greatest block ever smashed skill. How many guys you believe can go meet. Another guy at the at the top here over here did that but for him. That's an easy block to me. But that's but that's my thing but whitman he has. He was blessed with. Yeah that's an easy block. But here's the thank you. He has to drop still turn immediately. he's just going to a point. He might not be there but he has to go to that point and meeting by cathedra with headed to the pit house but little did he know that john is head appeared on top of his bid. House pushed a button to sitting back down eight and was headed to the pin house with a great law but it was off target long and high. If the lobby had been at the rim we might have had a collision at the rim and at least eight and would have been going to the free. Throw line but this way he's bending backward he's at a complete disadvantage here. It was completed vantage on us and to his credit he went ahead and executed the predictable block. Skip that the past wasn't perfect but it wasn't horrible either in eight and what a finish that play if he was alone or if just about any other player in the league was there kereta. Finish that place so so. That's not what stopped him for making. It was youngest and like shannon. Say he met him at the top of the square. So everything you described. You act like that simple to do as i say. What's the big deal about you saying. He does run. Well he does it faster nearby bells. Maybe as shannon's maybe after need davis could have made that play okay. I'm gonna show one more time for christmas edification last year against denver in the bubble. I wanna show you a coli leonard block. This is a man's block. This is where you go straight up at the rim with the wrong hand left-handed on jamal. Murray who has a full head of steam and tries to throw it right down your throat and coli blocks with the middle finger of his left hand. Well it's all advantage jamal at that point. He's got the running start. He's got all the momentum he's got the force behind him and goes flat footed straight up and blocked it. That's a great to me. That's that's high data. Colty guest workers. I just looked it up. They lift tomorrow. Murray's high at six foot three which made actually fix put try to fix this. Stop it. i looked it up. okay. I skip over. This is have been footer. Was seven footer. Or seven footer. Yes so nice blog by come on. He's blocking up to art who he doesn't have a running. Start like your honest. Did last night wasn't running. He took a step. No willie launch worth test. He dropped he he drops down and go straight up. Okay that's what he does. We know he can jump out of the gym at six eleven. But the way i got a nap time after correct kris on one other thing he's saying lebron's block in twenty fifteen was ten i mean. Jr smith deserves five of it. Then so it must be five and five. Because jr smith cuts off dinosaur runs underneath slows him up where he s to double clutch it. Lay it up off the glass instead. A donkey and lebron has time to catch up and chase down and blindside block. It sneak attack. That's is that a great block to you. Yes he went over. Skip yup and you know that if the ball hits the bag war. I is goaltending right. If it hit the backboard before lebron blocked it would have been goaltending. Was in each or what the timing tackler. Jerry was days beverly jerry fabric. Of course nobody can score. The basketball team score is a team win the brought. There's not on my watch not watch. I thought kyrie irving hit the last shot to win that game skill. That's what i said. The first team to score with going to be the scored the team that we and iggy had the first opportunity in the bronx has not. Oh my what they call. The watchmen yet. I've never known..

Pat talented didn't mince words saying quote. It's the best block of all time. Obviously we're a little bias and you talk about the lebron block as well but as far as a block. He was covering the picket role. It's about as impressive as you can get sir shared ice. Start with you please. Rate this blog on a scale of one to ten. I gave it a ten give because it wasn't number believable. play. I believe janas maybe. Anthony davis are the only two guys that could've made that play because of their length because of their size because what he did is that he showed. And he fell and booker filters prevalence. So book is like. Oh hey you are right here. I was gonna throw this love going. Finish it and janas backpedals turns and blahsy the glee at bars up. Oh he had at. I thought i was like. There's no way he blocked back clean and did not follow him and it took him like eighteen minutes the ratio if they win shot shot a block. I would lead a blog and when they showed it he gotta clean this good play under. The circumstances is that you'll ever see from a defensive perspective because like you said that would have tied the game now. We're gonna talk about a little later where ranks it as far as that that play and lebron's play but you look at what he did. He fourth book to give it up bear. Few big guys can do that. Make him give it up and then recover enough to block a seven footer at the rim. If i'm gonna meet you the top floor. And then i'm oppressed down. And then you back to the floor skip. That was play. I gave them a ten given the circumstances in that ballgame. That's a template for me here. We go again. I was going to give this a three on a scale of one to ten. I'm gonna go up to four just because it was as you point out so timely you can say it was a clutch block. But just on pure execution the way the play unfolded. It was a completely predictable and overrated block. It was so obvious it was going to happen. That it was just one big da completely overrated because it starts with devon booker dribbling to his right slowing up locking is across the lane with eytan and throwing a lab. Too far and too high. It's not devon booker's forte to lob pass. It's more chris. Paul's obviously in this is a poorly thrown law. Because it's not at the rim it's beyond the rim in. Its way up to high on the glass so we know what jaanus is an explosive six feet. Eleven inch leaper. And the one thing i love the most about janas is he hustles. His bought off on every play in his after the game. This was just hustle play. Well it was. It's like how could he not have blocked this. Because he had every chance in the world to block it because he had all the momentum he got a running start on it eight and had to go way up on the glass straight up on the glass. Wait for the ball to come to its apex to its high point and has got there right on time because janas had time to get there because it was so poorly thrown the lob pass so if he gets there right on time. What do you think's gonna happen. Who can jump higher. Yana or eight. And i promise you janas can outjump deondraye eytan. He got there with the running start. He his hand completely up over the ball and eight and was just stuck. It's like i catch the lob at its high point and now i'm going to do what the long arm of the law is already there so i was not surprised by it. I i was impressed only because it was a timely clutch block. I give you that but on just pure execution. It's being ridiculously.

I give you that bad but on just pure execution. It's being ridiculously historically overrated. Because how could he have not blocked it once. He got his running. Start and got up there. It's like it's game over for deondraye. Eight and he's got no other choice or chance. He's going to get the shot blocked unless he chooses to grab the ball with both hands and spin out of it and come all the way back down to the floor and then go back up on a who might by then have gone completely out of balance under the basket but at that point he is dead to rights..

"So he said postgame he says. I saw the play coming. 'cause he's kinda stopping devon booker from getting into the whole and booker saying was bigger. Goals puts it in his hand. Devon booker to pick up dribble throw the law in all in one motion he drops the up turns and faces and blah's deondraye eight deondraye eighty seven foot tall. He at least a foot over the basket and so in one motion. I shut up the pit shop. The pig i get into the roller because if he's not there if a janas does not show book is just to get all the way to the real or going to shoot. That little tim footer but because he sees janis eighty no john. This is supposed to be on the aim. There's no possible way. He can get back into this. This law duck. I got bored. He throws jonah's drops and goals and feed. Like i gotta go right now. Any blocking the only other guy that possibly could have made that play. If anthony davis. Because he's extremely long. He does a great job of plan to pick and roll and either great rim-protector but yokich is not making that plate. Joel embiid is not making that. None of the other bigs are making that. Play other well until i see. I'm sure there's a if we were to go back through the archives and look at all eighties games. But i know can make it. 'cause i saw it with my own do is and i was upset chris because they would replay it. I like he founded. He had to a father. There's no way you're blocking a seven. Put a lump. Don't without filing any. So i gave him a team. And you can convince me otherwise. Taylor's you know you guys who me. I highly entertained by both of you overreacting to what we saw last night. And i have just one quick for my man chris broussard. Do you have some greek back in your heritage. I'm not aware of. Because i don't know you become the biggest fan. I don't know maybe. I don't play okay. I'm gonna give this on a scale of one to ten o'clock. I'm going to give it a four. I was going to give it a three but just because it was so timely and you argue so clutch that it did quote unquote save the game at least for a moment who knows what would happen the rest of the game way. It was going. But i'll go up to a four because on just pure execution. It's completely predictable. It's obvious it's a duck. It's for jaanus a very easy block to pull off because of the way the play unfolded. So he's showing a little bit on devon but he's not going to be able to block book shot of book just said i got this. I'm gonna go off strong. And i'm going to shoot a nine foot jump. Shot jaanus is not going to get there to block it. But he's showed a little bit but then to his credit he's just watching books is and there then looks across the lane and locks eyes with deondraye eytan obviously janas says man and completely telegraphs the lob and not only does he telegraph it because he's no cb three but he throws a poor lob far way. Too high for andrei ayton who then has to bend backward to catch. It loses all his momentum and all of his leverage if you look again he's leaning backward when he catches the ball at its apex when he high points it and it gives yanni janas plenty of time to catch up and explode running with a running start up into the basketball and meet him at the apex. All the leverage all the momentum belongs to yana. Sit that point. Because he's got basketball in his size and he times it perfectly where he's arriving just as eight and his getting both hands on the basketball bending backward. What do you think's going to happen. It's going to be as easy. A block as janas ever had because eight is dead to right. There's nowhere to go with the basketball except right into janas right hand. If he'd had the wherewithal feed had the perspective maybe eight and would have given up on the lob dunk and maybe he would have said whoops. I gotta spin out of this and go back to the floor because i would have just run right past him and then he could have gone back up in dunked. But that's a lot to ask of a still very young deondraye eight and so i'm not going there. But the point was it was a great hustle. Play as you said after the game. It was just a hassle play. Once he saw the telegraph law passed he just turns he bolts across the lane and all the advantage belongs to us. He's got a running start. He's as explosive a six foot. Eleven inch leaper as we have in the league so it's a really easy blocked for him because he can outjump de'andre ayton who stuck with an awkward lob pass and did what he should have done what he predictably did do. He blocked it in the world. You're saying that's the greatest block ever semester skill. How guys you believe can go meet another guy at the top at the top and got here but but for him. That's an easy block to me. Without my paying the whitman he has that he was blessed with. Yeah that's an easy block. But here's the. He has to force devon booker to pick up his dribble and not take jumper so he has to show enough so both feels that he's going to challenge me on the jump shot and i can't get to the real so he has to do that in all in one motion win book throws the law. He has to drop stale a turn immediately. He just go into a point he might not be there but he has to go to that point and meeting was headed to the pit house but little did he know that is head appeared house on top of his feet house. Push.

"Away. You know if. I can't get a good deal for him. I wouldn't trade him in while i'm shopping him. I would have him in the gym with a shooting coast if he hasn't already seen a sports psychologist. I'm trying to get him to see one of those he even admitted after the game that his mentality and that needs to change these to be mentally tough or so i would be shopping. Been simmons before. I even get to just the problems with this game. The inability to make free throws the fear of shooting outside shots and now apparently layups at the rim His coach doc rivers said after the game yesterday when he was asked. Can you win a championship with ben. Simmons is the point guard and doc said. I don't know. I get that. That was honest. Doc was being honest but in that moment you probably need to say yes been build. Just like he's saying all you. He does this he does that. We need to work on the shooting but been a great point guard. We can win with doing it like that. Then beyond that his best his co star or the best player on the team. Joel embiid he says basically that bins refused to shoot that layup that we just showed any pass it to taste. Ibew was the turning. Point of the game now obviously. Mb had his own mistakes with the turnovers but he basically put it on been. So now i'm saying in beyond just the problems bins gained presents. You've got the head coach and the best player on the team same We came really win with them and then when he was asked. Do you wanna running back. He was noncommittal. Like i'll know we got to see so. They basically said we need some changes. Now let me say this. I do think that there are teams. That can build around. Ben simmons or there's a way to build around him similar to how milwaukee's built around honest like can push it in transition. He's a great passer. We all know that. I will put four shooters around you and when we're in the half court and we're not in early offense. I've got him down low on the block. He's six ten after all and he can't post he can score down low if if he can get his confidence back so i think you can build around him but it's hard to have him. We've got another post player like envy because one of them has to go outside and that's one reason. One reason embiid is out at the three point. Line a lot or on the perimeter. Because you have to put been near the basket or the other team won't guard him and so you have to find. The right team is going to be tough. You won't get a sexy name back but cj mccollum is out there. Rumblings about that. i. I'd probably like a little more from philly. But cj can play if he was in the east all his career probably would made a all star team or to Malcolm brogdon in indiana. I think that's something to look at so it won't be easy but i do think at this moment in time. It is now tied to move on from. Ben simmons if you trade a been famous for. Cj mccollum daimler support. So you must be won't dame outta portland because you bring ben. Simmons dame's y'all trying to get better but back to our originally scheduled program. I agree with you. And i told chris to start the us giving chris. I told her. Skip to start to show that i would. I would move ben simmons. It just isn't working when your second best player in the final minutes of a ballgame because play on the and he's the point guard. Give you a mistake in this series. Ben simmons average nine points six rebounds gave you this year's regular season okay. Okay fourteen seven instead skill. He was below bed in the play offs and he had ninety points over his final. Three games joel. Embiid heavy small window skill. you need to maximize that. That's what you gotta think about. Okay was the best situation for my best player. Is going along with having been simmons here another year to three years. Is this the best way to maximize your beaten. I don't believe it is chris. I believe they're the difference between can't shoe and being afraid to shoot because you can't shoot you work on it. You can improve it but when you become afraid you become paralyzed. So now you're talking about cabinet. Ray was playing five guesswork build. Other teams played five four. And that's what's happening being. There's no way thanks tean. You should pass ball to cutting guy when you can dunk. And he says what. I thought governor. Who's dr gallinari in the basket. I don't see how now skill says they were. They lost to toronto and the final eastern conference. Finals skipped ahead come close. I mean the number one record in the east. You had everything that you wanted. The east was going to have to come through philly and you lost to a five seed you gave five in fell on your home court and you mentioned the record would sixty nine over the last two years. No is giving some point task. You know what. I just gotta cut my laws i understand. Sometimes you invest a lot in the something which is just got to say. You know what i just thought. Good money the ban and if you keep running back skip you just throw good good after bad and i say both of you are being classic prisoners of moment. It's easy to overreact now. Because i will give you this. The demons got ben simmons over the last five or six games. It got to the point. He froze up so much he ran from the free throw line and from the basket. Wanna shoot anything. He wouldn't even dunk last night. It was shocking. It was pathetic. It was actually sad that a man six feet eleven inches tall and two and forty pounds would not even attempt to dunk tiny. Trae i've never seen before but that it came to that but i also would say i'm very disappointed in joel embiid. I'm his biggest fan doc. I'm an even bigger fan. They threw been under the bus in blame. Deflected after the game. Because as chris broussard who was driving we'll driving is. Chris has often pointed out. Doc a long and bloody history a blowing playoff leads in game four. They had an eighteen point. Lead in game. Five or twenty six point lead. What and last night. They got to game seven and they had chances until late and joel embiid had eight. Turnovers had a terrible one late in which he let garland ari picketed pocket. And go the other way for a dunk..

joel embiid two Ben simmons Chris Joel embiid chris broussard Malcolm brogdon ninety points ben simmons indiana chris six feet Five yesterday fourteen eighteen point Three games twenty three years simmons

"You know the feeling of teammate. Help me up off the floor. And then of course then there's extrinsic also right. You mentioned your dad's saying hey. I'm going to be able to put you through college so if you want to go to. College run better. You better learn to play so i think that's great that it sort of shows these two motivations not that one is better than the other but in the book you makeup point around. The football coach sean. Payton and you talk about him making two different speeches. I wonder if you could share that. Because i thought that was such another great primer on intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation. Yeah absolutely and i'll get into sean payton in one sack but whatever you said made me think about one particular thing you know. When i was a kid things weren't always the best right. And when i say that someone say pretty bad you know we had food to eat thankfully but sometimes i mean i'm witness. My parents cars being repossessed. There were times where we didn't have electricity. There were times when my parents told me. Yeah we don't have money to get new clothes for school this year and think about that. You know how tall i am. Six feet eleven inches so you could probably think that i was a pretty tall eighth grader. Big feet you know and there were all these extremities. I couldn't control. But when i got on that court. It all changed anytime. I thought about the game. Visualize myself playing or imagine myself in. Close my eyes in saw myself being successful. I like to think those are the things i could control and so i can control my effort you know. I had a coach telling me man. Be on time. I can do that. I can do that. I can control my effort. I can control being on time. I can help team be successful. i can add value. I can make friends. That's something. I can't control at the extremity. Sometimes it just is what it is..

"Welcome to brain stuff. A production of iheartradio. Hey rain stuff. Lauren Vogel bone here. Fans knew Andre the giant as the eighth wonder of the world, but friends and loved ones had their own designation. We spoke by Email with Benjamin Brown. An archivist for world, wrestling, entertainment, or the WWE. He said, under the giant was and still is affectionately referred to as boss, symbolizing, the respect he commanded and was appropriately given. Long before the towering icon became a pop culture, phenomenon under the giant was Andre Roussev, a French kid who led up somewhat average life until puberty hits. Born in Grenoble France in nineteen forty six was a beautiful baby has older brother and Thuan set an HBO documentary about Andre's life, quote, he was normal his life changing transformation began in his early teens when it became evident that Roussel mov had a Terry, Glenn disorder called acrobatically the sorter. According to the mayo clinic occurs, when the Patou itary gland produces too much growth hormone during adulthood, causing the bones to increase in size. It typically affects middle aged adults but can happen at any age. And what strikes still developing kids like did and Russa's case it can cause a condition called, gigantism, which results in, abnormal increases in height and exaggerated bone growth, Russa, muffs, major physical, transformation occurred in the time between his departure from home at age fourteen to seek employment outside of granola and his first return visit at age nineteen. Nineteen Eighty-one Sports Illustrated profile, reported indeed during the five years young Andre had been estranged from his parents, he'd grown so large that, even as mother and father failed at first and even second glance to recognize him or connect the giant. They had seen on television with the gangly dreamer, who would hide himself to Paris so long before. Where's the most continued to grow by the age of twelve he hit six feet? That's one point eight meters and two hundred forty pounds or a hundred kilos and rapidly grew from there. So he set his sights on a career that allowed him to use his size to his advantage. Wrestling after training with French champion. Frank bell wa who later became his manager or some begin competing under the name zone. Fair in Montreal. And monster off in Japan. The young giant began making a name for himself, as a baby-faced colossal, competitor and bell wa introduced him to legendary wrestling promoter. Ends McMahon senior as the founder of the world wide wrestling federation, or WWF, which later became the WWE McMahon made a few suggestions to increase Roosevelt's. Potential success, including a name change McMahon dubbed, the wrestler, Andre the giant and sent him off to compete around the world. On March twenty six nineteen Seventy-three under the giant mate has WWF debut at New York City's Madison Square Garden. He went on to wrestle more than three hundred days a year and rose to fame is one of the industry's most respected competitors. Brown said under the giant surpassed the often one dimensional nature of attraction wrestler to become a massive draw wherever he went in the world. Andre was both the leader of the locker room and measuring stick for all those who came after Andre the giant was intelligent multi-lingual an exceptional in ring talent. While the wrestler, success is indisputable his eventual size is up for debate most sources claimed he reached a height of seven feet four inches. That's two point two meters, though, according to biography dot com. He was more likely closer to six feet eleven inches or one point nine meters. Full-size Russa, match wait about five hundred pounds. That's two hundred and twenty six kilos the wrestler's unique physicality led to plenty of opportunities outside of the ring, including a memorable role in the nineteen eighty-seven filmed, the prince. Bride and most love for food, and drink was no joke. There are many stories of have drinking more than one hundred beers in one sitting though, it supposedly wasn't the norm. His best friend Tim white told WWE had go into a restaurant and eat twelve states and fifteen lobsters just to quote put on a show and have some laughs. Off remained a formidable competitor throughout his career taken on titans, like hulk HOGAN, and macho man, Randy savage, but by the early nineteen ninety s the effects that has Akra, mentally and the massive physical wear and tear of his career had led to severe affects his health acrobatically is known to cause everything from high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease to spinal cord, compression and vision loss. We're Smith grappled with chronic pain, and could no longer endure, the rigors of wrestling, she retreated to his North Carolina ranch. But flew home to France at early nineteen Ninety-three when his father passed away, on January twenty seventh nineteen Ninety-three Andre the giant died and asleep congestive heart failure the wrestler with ever married, but who survived by a daughter, Robin Christians immersive off born in nineteen seventy nine Andre the giant continues to be heralded by wrestling fans is one of the sport's greatest competitors. Brown said this from ten white Andres best friend, who called me while he was writing this, once he befriended, you he was your friend for life. "Expert dot com. No attack on ran Tony cats. Ninety-three WIBC. Good morning. That was the conventional wisdom that United States would be responding to Iran to their downing of, of this argue for Global Hawk drone. Do not think of it as you think of a drone that's flying around your neighborhood. This is a high altitude long, endurance. Northrop grumman. Drone, powered by Rolls, Royce, f one thirty seven turbofan engine, we're talking about seventy six hundred pounds of thrust wingspan one hundred thirty feet a payload of three thousand pounds and this thing flies at sixty to sixty five thousand feet in the air, that they were able to hit it is in other self a problem. But there is nobody who is really denying that this wasn't Dida ran that shot down this drone which according to everyone was in international waters. They of course claim was in their airspace. It was thought that there would be a response. The president discussing yesterday watch wait to see what happens. And of course, anybody who is anybody has a theory about what should happen. This is speaker Pelosi on every occasion that we are engaged with the administration in terms of our national security. Thirty. We make very clear that in order to get engaged in any in any military activities. We must have a new authorization of use of military force. AU M F that, that is exactly what it is the F really. It's about the idea of how we're supposed to run as a government that is different than whether or not, we are attacked, and the president can engage a response to different conversations and they need to be recognized. It would be a lot better. If the Democratic Party wasn't somehow making the claim that the United States is bumbling, their way in blaming, what's going on President Trump when the history of the region proves just the opposite. And for all the conversation of a response that was supposed to take place last night. To where the president of Cording to source is ordered the attack and then called it off. Again.
